Windows troubleshooting:
- Reboot
- Reinstall
- Don't opt into windows insider
Yeah, it was just being stupid because I was trying to access shadowplay as it was updating lol.
Here we go. These are all the options it has:
That's it.
Nothing but full screen capture.
lol.. well i fixed some recording problems, i only clip 1 min rocket league videos... but streaming is fine too if i wanted to do it.. by completely shutting down xbox dvr in regedit haha
really odd
@light cairn you ever play Bound?
i have not, but i think i got it through ps+?
Sorry, we spammed Leon's query up a bit: https://i.imgur.com/PsO2oMQ.png
Haha, no worries
Also I know not to mention anything Souls/Bloodborne related to Skip when it comes to choosing games, as I'm pretty sure Skip will opt for Souls/Bloodborne content
i highly recommend the old hunters
posts that
Hahaa
The new bosses are a good challenge and not cheap (cheap in Souls/Bloodborne terms, that is)?
The old hunters is amazing
i'd go so far to say it's probably one of the best parts of the entire game
well fuck
I wish my biases were as clear-cut as that. I tend to make things annoyingly (and stupidly) overly complicated.
Anyone get Sea of Thieves?
Guess it's probably Statik & Old Hunters then...Which is still a good as hell combo I think
Lol
especially if you like expanding your build roster old hunters adds some really cool weapons
WHIRLYGIG SAW BAYBEEEEEEEE
Yas
Although I'll probably dig about some more for reviews on Statik & Bound, as I dig the style of both of them
@primal rover, we were discussing Sea of Thieves, earlier. So far, I think @shy badger is the only one who said they played it.
I'm kind of fixed on Old Hunters + something or Statik + something, but I should certainly review reviews of each, lol
Cool, thanks for the recap ๐
i'd be lying if i said i realized that sea of thieves released
Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time so I'm bias but you'll love it
I've still got an hour and a quarter until it really releases for me
Yeah, I dug the core content so I'm sure I'd probably dig it
Bloodborne is probably my favorite of all the souls games
Same here
I didn't even know Sea of Thieves existed, until Leon posted this link: https://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-system-requirements-revealed/
Maybe tired with ds1
If I had more spare cash it wouldn't be such a decision, lol
i'm looking forward to portable souls so much โค
But I'm keeping myself capped at $20
you can get a lot of play out of the old hunters
Me too skip. Oh yeah I did add you on switch
yes indeedy
I just got Kirby today
I'm frequently juggling whether I want a lot of play from something or just a really wild experience
Good so far.
Lot of times short games pull off the latter much better than the former, but it's definitely not a mutually exclusive thing
The Microsoft Store shows you the minimum and recommended requirements for games, and also compares your PC to the requirements to show if you meet them. Cool little addition so you don't have to use systemrequirementslab all the time lol
@cinder vessel
insert free GoG game archive sites
The games that GoG releases for free still exist, and still work - despite not still being hosted on the GoG site. Just gotta find a copy. Since it was legitimately released for free from GoG, it's not pirating. <.<
Er...
wat, lol
wrong ping?
I, uh, dig the advice but cool stuff?
ah
Was thinking that was it, I'm just talking in terms of buying from the PSN sale atm
Ohh, okay.
Gotta budget ya hobbies & all
A copy of GoG's free 2016 release of NMS was how I got the game at first, but I later purchased it for $60 on Steam.
Maybe should have waited for a sale lol.
It's whatever, though.
@primal rover Hey buddy.. if you're playing SoT then add me! Micklov1n is the GT
hopefully this will curb my bordering on insanity addiction to rocket league
o_o
I keep seeing posts about that game, and it's always spammed all over Imgur's public gallery.
Never got around to trying it.
(Rocket league.)
its hard to discribe now that ive played for like 3 years and have 777487987984 hours in it
Football, but with mini cars.
I'm pretty sure that equates to more than three years
Or soccer if you're american.
but its addicting because it has the best skill progression ive expereinced
like you first get it and go this is easy .. stupid rocket cars with a big ball
Added, @shy badger. One hour left for me ๐
then you get a little better and see people do things you didn't know were possible...... then it keeps going, when you practice and pull that shit off in a game it feels so damn guuuud
me to Iron
so i was off by a little
I not to mention you wouldn't play that game for three years straight due to work/school sleeping and eating
Well, I have 1481 days, 16 hours on RuneScape...
So divide that number by like 10
I started in 2004.
Or even more
mother of god @teal trench
Still a startlingly large number
in my heart of hearts
So, I have 35k hours.
What
lmao
Anyway
That counter probably isn't counting time played
It might be years you've owned the game
Me?
how much of that play time was idle you think flan?
I started playing it in 2004, lol. I promise you it's accurate.
gotta keep that into account
I would assume most of it is idle
Nope.
I played an average of 7 hours a day.
hey man priorities
Yes, every Rs player on the /r/RuneScape subreddit has that much time.
Most play 10+ hours
I'm a nobody.
if you like what your doing and you got the time it happens
lol shut up. hes just a meany mean face
wheres the logic in precieving how others spend their time?
I was using averages
I rarely run into a player who doesn't spend over 10 hours a day online.
I can't guess accurately
My daily playtime of 7 hours gets laughed at.
yeah runescape is also more accessible at say a boring job
Jeez you get ticked off easily tone it down
Understandable dog โค
Dalek lol
noo
i mean the ticked off comment
lol
if i was ticked off it'd be pretty evident
I'm just protectin mah boi here
@sleek shadow, I'll willingly admit that my total playtime is seen as absurd, but only because of my total experience. For the amount of time I've spent ingame, my total exp is extremely low. So I end up having to link people to this explanation, explaining that I wasn't just idle: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/7wcfml/just_curious_who_here_has_logged_1_year_of_game/dtzj4km/?context=3
Understandable
I mean I'm just assuming everyone just gets as busy as I do
Balancing highschool with a job plus extracurriculars
Oh.
highschool?!
I haven't been able to play NMS for weeka
sonny boy
completely unrelated, but Mick, is there more to the Sea of Thieves download than the ~20GB I'm seeing in MS store?
im 31.. believe me it gets worse
@sleek shadow about the job thing:
Huh
Hey Mick, were you able to predownload SOT?
thing is though man, you'll start noticing that people are in different situations in life. so someone you think has no life cause they play that many hours might be on disability or have something else going on. People have that whole different life thing going on
College is like a new chapter
i havent yet iron
raises hand I'm living off of disability payment lol.
ima check
I didn't say someone didn't have a life for playing games for a long times
I just assumed that people just have lots of stuff they need to do
I remember freshmen year all I did was play PC because my classes were extremely rudimentary
I'll be turning 27, this April.
they do. of course.. shits hectic, people get it done there way
Sometimes I feel like I have too much
yeah i have 1000000 things to do lately
I already wake up an hour earlier to take an extra class at 7 am which is the name of my existence
So no breakfast for me
Sometimes I just want to slow the hell down
but i am going in for a big surgery soon so i have some time too kill. I find free time, if i didn't my wife would slap me lol
I hope it isn't something bad
you're in highschool ? Dude live it up
On a different note... @blazing torrent, when you see this, please don't forget to close doors to people's homes, when you go exploring. You left mine open, and a creeper wandered in. I had to repair my floor. https://i.imgur.com/YpRyUbL.png
i loved high school so much
I hate highschool
highschool was fun
well my school was a shit show
but uni is soo much better
I want college now
Yee
I'm ticking down the days
Spending my time in these dreary halls
Wasting then my summer
Begging for agust to come
you know where your going?
good stuff little buddy!
Then I hope to transfer to Caltech for more advanced studies
santa cruz is beautiful
That's a hope though
It really is
The only problem is
I love out of state
And they don't give any financial aid to out of state
Maybe I don't have the right to say this, but may I mention that this is #other-games, and a general discussion about non-gaming and stuff might belong better in #off-topic-bond-james-bond?
<.<
haha i pulled us way off topic
I did the same thing with the computer stuff.
This conversation took so many turns lol
i got a new keyboard. so really im rambling cause i like the sound hahahah
ill be back though
Lol
Speaking of which though
It's getting late
And I don't want to wake up tommorow feeling like hell
I'm going to catch some sleep
Sleep well.
@teal trench, huh, you don't do the standard pressure plate auto-open/shut doors in your structures?
Nope. I'm a weirdo who doesn't use those on doors.
I like closing them manually.
If I use pressure plates, then it's going to be a piston door.
Gotcha, I thought maybe it was an aesthetics thing
Btw, anyone here get into Warframe?
ps4 warframe yea
Lol, Warframe... I had an aussie friend, years ago, who loved that game. He would always try to get me to play it. It was that, and PoE. I finally caved in, and tried PoE, but ended up not liking it.
I've still yet to try Warframe.
I've tried Warframe but haven't kept up with it, so every time I pop in I'm going, "Wait, what is any of this"
PoE, being 'path of exile'. Different game, unrelated to Warframe.
I was just watching the first part of the Noclip documentary on how Warframe came about, hence the thinking about it
I know Lloyd (my friend) said that I could use a sword and be a "melee" character, despite it being a Sci-Fi game. That was one of the main things that made me consider playing it. Normally, I don't like Sci-Fi games (NMS is one of the handful of exceptions, along with Starcraft.), and I can't stand shooters. But... hack and slash is another thing. I quite like those kinda games.
I'm thinking I might try to get back into a bit, maybe, but always feels weird playing free games when I still have other paid games to finish
Oh yeah, that's one of the interesting aspects of it, it's basically "space ninjas"
So you can pick up some melee gear and do all sorts of crazy acrobatic style moves to take down enemies
o_o
Well, maybe not super crazy or anything, but still, ya can jump about/wallrun/etc.
Is it anything like BDO? The combat in BDO feels ... "retro". I absolutely adore it. It feels like I'm playing an old SNES arcade style combat game, and having to use different combos. It's not just button mashing abilities, like so many other generic MMOs these days.
Black desert online.
more like spam circle as your running down a hallway and kill everything
o_o
circle cause ps4
yea theres certain weapons you can run while using
its great
and stance mods to do a helicopter move
now I wanna start playing it again
Um
Okay, I have a question... can I play it like I would play Skyrim? Just do my own thing, killing stuff, exploring, and ignore storyline?
there really isnt too much story in the game
Okay, so... is it open world? Or what exactly?
I've honestly never really... looked into it.
Kinda tried to avoid it.
Oh, Warframe?
Yup
It's not typical MMO combat at all
it has missions style of gameplay
You get assigned a task and sent to a level?
Um. Have you ever played the old 007 console games? Goldeneye on N64, or Tomorrow never dies on Ps1?
Those kinda levels.
It's a pre-created map, made specifically for that mission.
Is that what it's like?
If I remember correctly, maps are procedurally generated out of many set pieces (but I could be wrong)
No, that's right
Basically, you choose a tileset and a mission type
You select a mission and go off to the proc-gen level, basically
Although they've since added some more open areas
It's not framed that way, but that's what it is
stuff like defending points or killing enemies
Okay, so in a sense it's like those old games, but the "level" is generated as you play?
That's likely what it was that was keeping me away from it, then. I feel like Lloyd explained this to me before, and I kinda recoiled when I realised it wasn't open world, or whatever.
I knew I was avoiding it.
Just didn't know why.
Yeah, I kinda prefer stuff like NMS, Minecraft, and Skyrim. The one thing they all share, is a completely open-ended gameworld.
Thank you for taking a moment to explain it to me.
no problem
Skyrim frustrates me, but for the same reason all handcrafted open worlds do
Yup. Handcrafted stull will always be limited. That bothers me a bit, but I still like it.
Which is largely that they don't take advantage of it with interesting systems to better stave off the exhaustive nature of it
Worse still is that they clearly recognized that, and talked up radiant junk and all that, but frankly never really did much if anything with that concept
only open world game I've really liked is HZD
no NMS? lol ๐
prob second
googles 'HZD'
Huh, that's why I've never heard of it. It's Ps4 only.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is crazy
The mechafauna are brilliant
Easily my favorite aspect of the game
I love the story
the story?
Yeah
I dunno it feels fine to me
To be fair I'm still around the start-ish of it all but bleh
start-ish where exactly?
I mean I also just really don't care all that much about figuring out the enemy group, since I'm more into the mechafauna, lol
So like shortly after ya go & raid the ruined stadium
oh your actually quite far in
waitwat
relatively
This is like after your region is attacked and you're trying to trace down the attackers
I get what you meant by start-ish
That struck me as like first third still
I'm guilty of dropping Path of Exile at an extremely early point. Right off the bat, the game angered me and annoyed me on several things when I tried it in 2015. A few months ago, I tried to play it again to give it another chance, and was irked by the same exact rubbish.
lol yeah maybe, I'm guessing you may have thought I was still going through like childhood/first little bouts of training
yea I thought you were pre-proving
Path of Exile always struck me as too lootgrindy
Since it's basically a Diablo-style game
I'm talking less than an hour after character creation.
No, it wasn't that. I'm searching to see if I had explained it on reddit, because I kinda don't want to type it all out again lol. It was kinda lengthy.
lol
Grr.
I guess not.
I know I typed it out; it was likely in the old discord server I ran.
Not in it any more.
๐คท It's whatevs
You can also pick up a mute sword if you're lucky
Mine was lost to a mob encounter
I have a slap stick
I just thought it was funny a silver fish dropped a stick
yarr that be the fog o' war!
also i just went with my initial decision re: PSN sale, so Old Hunters & Statik were picked, for anyone interested, lol
I'm actually stuck on a loading screen now. I get this funny feeling that thousands of people are trying to sign in at once ๐ค
also yes statik looked good
Lol.
Hype up a game
Advertise it everywhere
Constantly show off the graphics
Make absurd claims about needing high-end hardware
Have a timed release date for servers to go online
... yeah. They succeeded in baiting all the high-end pc gaming enthusiasts out of their benchmarking circlejerks, to give it a test run. I'd imagine the login servers are being overloaded to an extreme.
Sea of Thieves is strictly online & multi, yeah? Not sure about the former, but if latter is true, wouldn't surprise me
...Judging by the Reddit it appears that the matchmaking servers are completely down
just uh fyi
Hit character limit again... yay.
@cinder vessel Okay, about the PoE thing... I'm sure it's common knowledge now that I get stupidly angry about stuff, way too easily. Upon loading the game up for the first time in 2015, I was met with the character selection screen in the brig of a ship at sea. Rather than show me base stats, what each character can do and is capable of, it instead insisted on auto-playing an audio dialog of the character's background story every single bloody time I switched the cursor to another character. It had a long, annoying auto-scroll textbox which the game was reading from. No actual data about the class's stats or anything. Don't get me wrong, I love reading, and I love lore. This was just... absurd, and extremely annoying to me.
@cinder vessel After finally settling on one, I was introduced to the gameworld, which... was not what I was expecting, after that cinematic intro. I don't mind the graphics at all - I actually liked them. What irked me, was the camera angle. It's locked at that weird isometric angle, and makes it difficult for me to see what I'm doing. I don't like that. Then, there's the inventory.... items that drop don't fill a single slot like any normal game. Instead, the item's shape dictates how many slots it takes up. It was bloody annoying, having my inventory fill up so quickly. Then, there was the combat itself. It's worse than Minecraft (in my opinion) with its constant spam clicking. It felt like I was playing one of those clicker cheap games where you're encouraged to use an auto-clicker software.
These things, and a number of other things just kept on adding up, and I got sick of it to the point where I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it at all. If I'm not enjoying something, then what's the point of playing it? A game is meant to be played for fun. So I dropped it after the first hour or so, and didn't return until a few months ago (like November 2017). The same exact things that bugged me last time, bothered me again. However, this time there also seemed to be alternate game modes and I couldn't find any form of ingame explanation as to what these do, or what I should choose. I had to resort to googling it, and then locating a tiny snippet - as if added by afterthought - to the Wiki, explaining briefly what the game modes are. I left again, and haven't returned.
this is why you make sure your servers can handle 50x the expected load
with any sane design, there should be absolutely no difference between 1 and 1,000,000 records
SoT discord is alternating between complaints and apologism for Rare
nobody has a clue what's going on
honestly, this is why I love launch nights
I'm really disappointed in Elite so far
Oof, yeah, that's a whole mess of unwieldy decisions even before ya entered the game Quav, so I can follow being put off by it
Too simmy? ๐
Well, I guess it's a few things. One of the biggest is that as I learn about the game, players who have been playing it are so pissed
It's like the more you play it the more you know why it's shit
I've heard some of their reasons why, but it's just the kind of thing like
one guy was saying he loved the game 200 hours in
sunk cost wooooo
and someone said "ahh you're still in the honeymoon phase"
I don't know if I want to play a game 500 hours just to hate it
or invert and love, lol
Yeah @primal inlet im waiting a little bit to log in. I knew it would swamp the servers since its a huge release
The other reason is since today's patch it FUCKING crashes the gamewhen I try to enter a planet a la NMS
๐ฑ
That's RuneScape in a nutshell, @gaunt hare. People who have played for thousands of hours have a love/hate relationship with it, whereas new players tend to be heavily put off by it at the get-go.
I've been playing it for 2 days straight basically
in fact when i get the oculus soon ill never leave
ive played for the long term hahah
maybe i enjoy the pain
Some people love it 500 hours
and never stop
I don't know. I guess I've realized I'm gonna die one day so I want to be sure if I'm sinking that time in it feels worthwile
compared to all these other games I have
yep if you get in with good groups of people and start doing serious exploring it can be really good for people who like that type of game
but on the other side go'ddamn elite is so much fun so far.
That's a depressing realisation
How does Elite: Dangerous compare to NMS and EVE? The gameplay and content.
hahaha i was just about to say that
Well I can only find time for so much video games!
totally different
@teal trench opposite sides of a spectrum
Elite is basically a simulator
elite has what i need NMS to have
that unknown feeling of maybe possibly finding something
Land on planets drive around or walk/drive in nms
its beautiful too
Very realistic graphics
Okay, lol. I look at it like this: Flying a spaceship through systems, exploring galaxies, entering/using space stations, landing on planets, and space battles. Does Elite have this?
Exactly
you gotta just look up videos
It is exactly that
i mean it is that
So I can land on planets?
but it has a learning curve
Certain ones
yezh but you cant walk around yet
just drive a cute buggy
and its only non atomphereic planets you can land on
Well, it's already surpassed EVE if you can land on planets.
the srv is great
Entire customization being locked behind micro transactions sucks tho
its really in depth theres a big learning curve.. but its worth it
cosmetically
So somewhere between NMS and EVE, then.
How about combat? Is it clunky like NMS, or dynamic and responsive like EVE?
What do you find in Elite tho? ๐ค
energy distribution .. ship scans .. you can silent run which shuts down shields but makes it so you can't be targeted
uhh a billion weapons to customize and all the customization inside the ship and outside
duddde
wait EVE has good combat lol?
Game content being locked behind microtransactions makes it sound way too much like EVE. They shouldn't sell a game, and then have ingame purchases on top of that. At least EVE is free, now. It used to be sub only.
the first person to witness a thargoid was a random guy exploring around
the thing just took him out of hyperspace
and it scared the balls out of him
Combat in EVE is one of the main selling points, Leon.
theres no microtransacton.. its just like for decals and shit
@cinder vessel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdfFnTt2UT0
EVE Online is the massively multiplayer sci-fi universe that has captivated countless gamers' imaginations for over a decade. "This is EVE" takes you into th...
Most combat vids I can think of seeing from EVE are the dullest stuff, lol
Watch that.
VERY first look. Footage is by DP Sayre on xbox, I just combined the clips into one video
so in ED their were signs of aliens and shit and tons of odd things popped up but a year ago a random dude happened to get interdicted while in hyperspace. it was completely random. he was just in an area where they had activity and the game is so big it was going on while the game was happening
Yeah, I've seen that vid before, I'm not into the whole phase beam approach, re: EVE & Quav
thats the kind of exploration aspect i like
Elite looks super complicated and it kind of is but once you see gameplay you'll get it
@shy badger PC elite?
@cinder vessel It's not meant to be a realistic simulator. It's more of a ... "space pirates rule the galaxy" type space combat arcade sim.
The Thargoids are literally the only major interesting discovery I've heard/read about from anyone in relation to Elite, lol
thats the major one that has story and changes to the different economies
but you can explore deep space and come across some crazy planets and systems
also they have found mega ships people didn't know exsisted
they still are
haha i know to much about ED. I still like NMS a bit more, but honestly ED really nails down the scope
of space
Mega ships like you can get ooorrr
when i say mega ships
So, the microtransactions in Elite are only for decals and recolours? No actual game content, or equipment/parts for ships/etc.?
And crazy planets/systems how? ๐ค
i mean like a ship thats the size of a moon basically
yeah flan
uhh
i can show you pictures
lol
that's a station at that point, not a ship, lol
Okay. I still think MTX is bad, but whatever. At least the game itself is buy to play, with no sub.
buuut it's always online so they get ya there
Ya seriously. Elite is hard to describe but just watch some gameplay
You guys might like it
Not true, we've gone over this several times when Elite comes up, lol
Nah, it's always online I thought
well
You have to be connected to servers
You can be in private lobby tho
Yeah, which is kinda eh in its own way
Since if memory serves the econ is still influenced by the multi side, hence keeping it always online
I mean hey its a niche game
I've only briefly looked at Elite. The little I saw was mildly terrifying - it triggered my bathophobia. (Extreme fear of depths)
EVE Online did that too with a lot of areas; the graphics were too realistic. NMS is more cartoony, which makes it easier.
but if you like space games its a must play at this point
Eh
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
lol
well fine then
Yes, it is
its all mine you can never play it gmr
lol
I've been playing it 8 hours a day past two days
haha yeah
Where's Dalek when you need him to say no one has that much time.
My eh is largely directed at their dumbass tech decision to require online connections, hate that noise
@sleek shadow
its a mmoish
Oh, he went to bed.
It's a noncommittal dalliance with MMO-ishness.
That's right
GET MARRIED FRONTIER OR GTFO
hahaha i know flan
๐
well the whole point of the game really is nothing stops happening when you sign off.. its supposed to be a fluid galaxy
Don't tease me with that solo mode shit, lol
thats why missions have time limits
and if you dont complete it the factons will hate you
lol
Ya ever try X3: Terran Conflict?
It has timed missions, econ sim, etc.
But ya can play it offline. >_>
@shy badger, that reminds me of an old sci-fi pc browser game I played in 2006.
so hah
lol
The "when you log off, stuff keeps happening" thing.
If it suits ya it suits ya so all's good with ya there
I'm just gonna be over here miffed that they don't offer an offline variant lol
I continue on my journey towards the centre of the galaxy, and head below the galactic plane. Buy Elite: Dangerous: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click...
this dude has a voice that melts my heart
also hes got good videos to show you different aspects of the game
but yeah watch that i guess.. i cant talk about it
lol
One of my fav. things about NMS is honestly just the scale & the sheer sense of solitude
ED is so big its out of control. its got the same feel
So like, if I would just put up with the net req shit I'd probably be into the solo mode of Elite
i play mostly in solo mode
@shy badger It was one of those um... you know the multiplayer kingdom management games? Like, you can build up your kingdom, construct buildings, make war machines, etc., and then wage war on other players on the map. It was an RTS Sci-Fi, like Starcraft with that level system for buildings and npcs, who do what they're assigned to do. However, it was online and stuff kept happening when you logged off. So you could log back in to your base being destroyed.
but it depends
hmm
Idk the name of it, or even if it still exists.
i never played it thats for sure lol
I love those types of games.
elite is a little more forgiving.. it wont like keep your ship floating in space while your gone
hahaha
but elite has neutron stars... binary star systems craaazy ringed planets accurate planet rotation ect
NMS is lacking in that shit so bad, i needs it. if NMS had the things it should have i would be so happy
If they ever let GoG release it for free, I'll grab a copy. I'm not gonna spend any money on a game that easily triggers my bathophobia.
I don't enjoy feeling fear.
noo you dont want that man
Honestly I went back to NMS after Elite started crashing when entering planets
and it does make NMS scale seem sillier
Just in the way where there's a lamp in the sky and then a cluster of 1-6 planets and moons
yeah thats exactly what im saying
Elite has like actual sun's and orbits
and you can watch yourself travel through thousands of light seconds
Quite exhilarating
but NMS still has the promise
and NMS will always have the planets
they can fix it. they gotta
Can you point your ship in a direction, and fly between systems? Or is it like NMS, with a "fake" boundary between systems that force you to use the galactic map to warp?
There is a lot of warping from system to system
but realistically you never want to just fly
nope
It's very similar
lol just flying wouldl take fooorever
Can you upgrade your ship's engines, beyond what you can do in NMS?
If NMS were to get more "simmy" so to speak, I'd rather it be weird fucked up simulation
it's just... it's hard to describe because games take liberties, but this is like a 1:1 scale of the galaxy
me too leon
Screw the natural orbit shit, just get weird
NMS is a totally different game
Get so fuckin' weird, lol
it needs to get weird dude. i mean WT made it weird
I'd like to be able to upgrade my normal engines to the point where I can fly through space at a rate of a few light years per second.
Because every "serious" space game is gonna try to do that samey boring physics sim shit, which is cool here & there but for every space game? Nah man
No warping.
you can do that
@cinder vessel they both do different things very well.
Yeah, Elite: Dangerous totally has its whole realish sim stuff down pat, so good on that for what that's worth
you can upgrade everything about the ship
yeah they really arn't compairable besides the space shiat
But space is so fuckin' weird & full of stranger potential
Arguably graphics
Eh, that's an art direction preference
I assume I can potato-ise the graphics, right?
Space is very, very weird just being space.
Space is the most insane concept out there, physically
If I can make the graphics look cheap, that will help with my bathophobia.
It's whole existence is mind boggling, so a realistic interpretation done well can feel extremely alien.
space is beyond what we can concieve but its fun as fuck to try lol
Flan its not too bad for your bathophobia, but I don't know exactly how its triggered
Making it feel like I'm really there - a realistic simulator.
its never completely dark or anything .. theirs orbit lines you can have on so it has shit always going on the screenn
Look into the void
I looked up a video in low graphics. It looks like SNES graphics a bit, lol. I'm okay with it.

It's the realism of the depth, and how ... "big and empty" something is.
Like a giant cavern with a ceiling I can't see.
well the good thing is its really hard to get the sense of scale without VR
you can't really it all looks realitive, nothing seems overwhelmingly big even though it is
I hear it makes the best vr game ever
but please don't get it if you think itd trigger that.
yeah its the best gaming experience i think ive ever had oka
and i only got to play it for 3 hours with vr
i needs more ๐ฆ
it was mind blowing though
Damn, apparently there's no way it's coming to psvr

they need to make a game where Morgan Freeman just narrates every single thing you do in the game.
only for jim carrey
make it a sandbox game with no purpose besides having Morgan Freeman tell you what you're doing
@teal trench sorry bout the door
It's fine, lol.

Hot
Because pocket edition has different servers
Same with windows 10 edition
Though they both have the same server capability
@knotty osprey MCPE and the Java version of Minecraft use different servers.
I expected that already, but it was worth a shot lol
As of now, there is no plan to host Pocket Edition servers, nor do I even have the technical capability at this time. If it's something you guys are interested in though, let me know and I'll see what I can do. It'll definitely be a different map and experience though, sadly.
ha
I was just trying because I randomly got minecraft PE for free from the App Store
I donโt plan on playing MCPE a lot either, so I donโt think itโs necessary.
Itโs pretty easy to host MCPE server
It takes a LOT less ram
@limber harness
You just have to download a third party server software
Bc Mojang doesnโt want to give everyone their own server, bc they have realms
Concern isnt hosting. Management
Ohhh
Itโs the same for installing olugins
Itโs just the servers are buggy unless you basically rip apart the software are fix it
So itโs definitely not worth it
Also, I am now home!! So I can play on the server again!! Did anyone wreck my wall?
I wanna play minecraft! But already own it for the switch. Not buying it again ๐

Bare in mind I am PS4 gamer, I don't think either of those are on PS4. ๐
I believe they are
Cuphead isn't
Shovel Knight is, though
Cuphead is exclusive
Yeah, Cuphead never came to PS4
๐
I'll see what ps4 indies I can find for you tomorrow morning. Maybe we can introduce you to a few ๐
Haha! I think I have a few. Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Journey, emm that's probably about it ๐
I don't have timmeeee lol
Furi is a good one
I have that on pc
Grow Home I liked ๐
Itโs ridiculously tough but worth the challenge
Don't Starve
Titan Souls
(I'm just listing stuff ๐ )
Broforce
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Little Nightmares
Retro City Rampage, Shovel Knight, uhhh that one Metroidvania game I canโt remember the name but it starts with an A

Aaero is pretty good, I'm not sure if it's on PS4 though.
Wait. LUMINES REMASTERED?!
yeah
oh shit
I'm looking forward to that <3333333
most seem to come out by the end of summer
Wait, is it actually coming to PS4?
it should be
I know now
I am only seeing Nintendo Switch announcement ๐
the switch nindies, was it?
they never said NS only
Just shapes and beats is good
West of Loathing is a great game, glad that's coming to switch
I've not heard of many of them
bad north looks super fun
Here's an interesting game for PS4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBVIoO-Ovxw
Speed through stunning, stylised environments tracing ribbons of light, releasing the energy in the music. Battle strange enemies and fight epic boss battles...
I have it on PC
reminds me of REZ
Yeah its heavily inspired by Rez
I know of aaero
Time to search up nearly all of the games you just mentioned
It's an interesting take on rhythm ๐
Rez was super hard to find about 5-6 years ago
then they remastered
Rez Infinite <33333
the spider boss on Aaero is amusing and scary
We battle a boss from Aaero on PS4 and five star the stage - thus unlocking a Trophy for defeating the boss.
that little 'meow' when it hops out
I showed that clip to a friend of mine that has a fear of spiders
I feel bad lol.
this looks awesome
The idea is to keep your shots in sync with the beat for more damage

Anyone picking up Sea of Thieves?
The aesthetic looks amazing
Heard it's shy of content
And I don't really have anyone to play with, and going solo is a bit risky I've heard ๐ฆ
I prefer single player experiences, lol. I don't like relying on people to play games with lol
๐
The demo of Kirby was great!
I shouldn't be making decisions today, pay day isn't for a week or so yet haha
I feel you
And Sea of Thieves wasn't an option for me till I bought my new laptop muhaha
I'm watching a guy on twitch playing solo
man the water looks so good
It looks like it's never likely to come to PS4 so I guess if I want to be serious about gaming on my laptop then this is the one
The water looks amazing
Since it's out for Xbox too I'm assuming controller support is there which would be good for me. Keyboard and mouse don't like me
I grabbed Sea of Thieves and played it for four hours last night with some randos I found on the SoT Reddit discord
Oohhh how was it?
It's kinda repetitive in terms of missions, but it's really just great because of...playing with people
But I don't like people ๐
That's the most generic sentence I've written in a while, but it's correct
Well, it does look really good too :P
It looks like it's included in Xbox game pass. I don't have an Xbox but it sounds like that works on PC too? So I could bmaybe get the free trial of that and try it out that way
worth 60$?
And performs well, too - I had every video setting on "Rare", which I think is their Ultra, and the worst I got was slight stuttering on loading a new area
...I don't know yet, maybe not at this time
it does work on PC I'm pretty sure
how well, unknown
They're planning on doing NMS-style updates, but more frequently and more openly
I'll keep an eye on it then

The top post on the Sea of Thieves subreddit was something like
After 5 hours of Sea of Thieves I've already experienced most of what it has to offer
so I'm probably gonna refrain from picking it up ๐
Is Elite Dangerous any good?
Like give me a rating out of 10
I got that Xbox trial thing so I'll get my 5 hours for free I hope lol.
Elite dangerous for me was like a 7. Got loads of hours our of it but very grindy
New Humble Jumbo Bundle released half an hour ago, and it looks really good (if you don't have half the games already :v)
Most are single player too
if not all...
See my issue is tho
all those games look great
I just dont want to play them
like idk what game I want to play
and it's frustrating as fuck
"ew no" as in "that doesn't look good" or as in "nah, not in the mood for that one"?
Like not in the mood
But Like I want to play a game
for example, I looked at DOOM
was like "Yeah I should totally play that"
got to the main menu and went "Nah, don't want to."
which is super fuckin frustrating
@limber harness, if there is interest in a Bedrock edition server, I'd like to note that there would be some minor problems with hosting. To my knowledge, the only way to currently run a Bedrock server, is to have it located on one of three platforms - Win10, a mobile device such as an iPad, or an xBox. I know there was discussion from Mojang about allowing the playstation users and Nintendo users connect, but that hasn't been finalised yet. Anywho, this means you'd have to have access to a dedicated server that uses Win10 as its OS. Or, find someone with decent hardware and stable network with Win10.
Then of course, there's management issues, as you said. There is currently no support (and no known conversion) for standard plugins on Bedrock servers. Instead, it uses an entirely different API, requiring "Addons" developed in C++. I still don't know how these work, and I haven't taken time to really dig up much info on them. There's also the fact that Bedrock servers currently only support a maximum of 10 players.
iirc there are unofficial builds
Is there also unofficial clients to connect to these, for players who don't have Win10?
I haven't looked into that scene yet.
I'm not aware of any, but I assume you need an official Bedrock client
especially for online mode, as iirc most of that is done through Xbox [???]
Yeah, Win10 connection is via xBox live.
Huh, so Nukkit has been around since 2016.
That's neat.
Ooh, plugin support.
very few things are actually ready on the bedrock side though
Yeah.
Mojang is still actively developing it.
Hmm. How up to date is Nukkit? The current Bedrock build is caught up to 1.12.2's features.
No idea.
Looks like they've converted it to Java, which is kinda sad.
I know.
Nukkit is up to bedrock 1.2.11
You don't have to convince me of that; I've been playing a Java game addictively since 2004, created by developers who make the claim "Java gaming experts". They felt confident enough that Java was the language to choose.
I made the note that it's sad Nukkit is Java, because the C++ edition (Bedrock) performs faaarrr greater than the Java edition, or Java servers. That said, I haven't yet tried this Nukkit. So hopefully they were able to retain the performance boost.
I mean, Bedrock edition has the option in the vanilla client to have render distance at 128.
Lol.
Java can't do that.
(To my knowledge)
It seems like Nukkit is only written in Java - it's only compatible with Bedrock
Okay, let me rephrase. The current Java edition of Minecraft can't successfully run at 128, without a severe performance impact.
I wasn't talking about Java as a whole.
People complain about Java purely because it's unoptimized as shit in terms of minecraft
^ this
I know.
So most people's PCs can't run it well
which is why people bang on about bedrock edition being better
but honestly Java is just fine
as long as your PC can handle being shat on by several thousand java-based pigeons
You're preaching to the choir.
look at what optifine does. java is performant
Also, Bedrock Edition is a completely different architecture
There's also this weird little brand new project I found that claims to bridge Spigot and Bedrock, I might experiment with it when I get home
JE was written by a couple people out of boredom and the idea to make a neat game without knowing what would happen. Bedrock was written by professionals.
Nah I'm not trying to explain I know you're all understanding it
I just felt like airing my grievances ๐
Oh, okay. I felt like it was an attempt to explain to me, or try to tell me to stop complaining about it lol.
bridging spigot and bedrock sounds very dangerous, @primal inlet
Oh nah ๐
Paradox of choice?
dragonproxy looks cool, but there are a lot of things that could go very wrong
The more choice you have the less you want to choose?
yes
I mean I'd be willing to try it, but it seems like it could do some really really fun things
@iron inlet That's me. I've played hundreds (I want to claim thousands) of MMOs and PC games since 2004, yet I always return to RuneScape and MineCraft. I can't ever find one that is capable of retaining my attention as well as those two.
and by fun i mean "kaz will be up until 2 AM fixing a server"
...I honestly just want to see how well it works myself, I doubt it'll work well
@teal trench Literally I've been going hard in phases for games
the first release is NINE DAYS OLD
????
I hard went for Destiny, then NMS, then The Witcher 3, then Skyrim, then NMS again, then Destiny 2, then The Divison, Then Monster Hunter World, and since I got done with MHW I've been ded
actually hmm
oh and I fucked the life out of Superhot for a few days
I got like 150 kills in Endless mode and then I burnt out
o_o
It took like 90 minutes lol
don't do it on the main server don't do it on the main server
i'm reading the code now
Honestly, the last time I actively tried to play a proper PC game, that wasn't an MMO, was like... before 2011 or so. It's been nonstop MMO hunting for me. So, a lot of the PC games you named, I haven't touched.
it shockingly looks mostly harmless
a lot of them are really good
Destiny 2 turned out to be garbage sadly
dont bother
The Divison is good now, until you burn out after a month
Superhot is great
"It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years"
but it's very much a one trick pony
I played Skyrim, then the remastered version, and then mods, and still didn't enjoy it as much as people hype it up. That's really the only proper PC game I've played since 2011.
once you master it (which is pretty quickly) it loses its novelty
I put like 2k hours into Skyrim
Morrowind will forever remain my favourite Elder Scrolls game.
about 300 into vanilla, a further 1400 into modded, then 300 into SSE
I missed Morrowind and now it's too old for me to want to play it
No idea how many hours I put into Morrowind.
