@dull pawn Is there a list of MBINs that have been updated over time?
I can check SteamDB and see which PAKS have been touched by each update but not which MBINs in them have been
Honestly... I'm a complete modding newb, I just started yesterday and made a buggy no-shake mod... The fact I managed to fix it was just luck and I don't really know what I'm doing

I just wanna explore with a smooth camera
@obsidian tree Is there a list of MBINs that have been updated over time? I can check SteamDB and see which PAKS have been touched by each update but not which MBINs in them have been, far as I can tell.
Trying to see if I can update or rebuild Back to Foundations - assuming it's broken since it's nearly a year old.
is it just me or has the post-next version always had multicolored atmosphere layers?
or am I just seeing things in the hopes of a variation update?
You're just seeing things. Help me fix BTF and you'll have all the variation you could ever want.
It'll be like Foundations again, without losing all the cool new stuff.
apologies but I'm no modder so I'm not really any use for this kinda stuff
@tame siren desolation broke BTF mod?
I'm just assuming something broke it along the way but I could be entirely wrong. It's been a year and several updates big and small?
@hallow pumice I don't know how to check which MBINs have changed since last August, so I'm operating under the assumption it's not entirely working for Desolation
I assume it will function in Desolation, but if it hasn't been updated for it (it hasn't been) then there's things that will be different or missing.
Terrain most specifically
try it. Maybe it still works
It mainly changed voxel gen file. I know it worked in eco mech
HG never updates terrain anymore so the pak related to it is often untouched
Terrain didn't just touch the voxelgen, I checked
Water.Material.MBIN, Water textures, and the voxelgen, looks like
is there a mod perhaps that makes the tethered flight mode reset to center if its not moved in one direction? a bit like the relative mouse mode in elite dangerous.
I began to wonder why the system skybox is affected by the position on galactic map
How is it calculated. What determines the star positions on skybox. What direction on the skybox is towards the center?
Because I have been in that one system various times that doesn't have systems around it on the galactic map and you can't see any stars while in space
Hmm. I wonder why it touched that stuff?
Its really cool that they are able to have the skybox be accurate to the galactic map
But what purpose does it serve? How does it determine the stuff? If someone were to mod extremely dense galactic map with systems everywhere, would the skybox fill with as many stars too?
So as it turns out that mod that removes HUD notifications doesn't remove them from the scanner and I'm actually very grateful for that
You can still understand what it is you gotta do but it's not trying to get in your face constantly
But what purpose does it serve? How does it determine the stuff? If someone were to mod extremely dense galactic map with systems everywhere, would the skybox fill with as many stars too?
@waxen cedar It would actually yeah
Since the game would generate based off of the parameters for the galactic map. So if you downloaded a mod that made it really dense then you would see that in the sky box
This is weird. Most of the playerd don't even know about such feature
Nobody would even notice if they changed it to a pre-made skybox image
Wouldn't blame them. Its hard to spot unless you're paying close attention
old builds seemed to take in count the distance to those stars
they had clusters within nebulae and stuff to render in system skybox. Those don't show up at all.
They could really make some interesting skyboxes
so people datamined pets?
@lethal pewter seems so
just a text that talks about summoning them
Are there any updated or soon to be updated mods that enhance exploration?
also, where's the best site to go to for finding mods?
@vocal jewel https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky?tab=updated
always sort by updated
I saw a 4 year old mod that was about tracking coordinates on planets. Couldn't even download it (404 error). Anyone know of something that lets us set and track waypoints on planets?
No Camera Shake mod is a godsend
Any mods that increase the number of ships you can own above the 6 standard slots?
No, it's not possible
so whenever you discover something for the first time it gets uploaded to the NMS servers for everyone else to see, right? how does that interact with a mod like "Better Planet Generation"?
no one gets to "see" it
if you see a scannable thing and upload it, and that's modded then that's only on your end or for anyone else running the mod
Oh, awesome, I finally tracked down what controls frigates:
GCFLEETGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN
METADATA.REALITY.TABLES.FRIGATETRAITTABLE.MBIN
It's no longer a surprise they're not controlled by InvTable, because their class is determined by their number of positive Traits.
Is there an up to date mod for better ship controls? With or without hovering?
Hovering, yes
As per usual, just sort mods by Last Updated then apply eyeballs and brain
But what if lacking eyeballs and/or brain?
then carry on arguing on #no-mans-sky
Good to know, thx π
no problem!
@fallow meadow I have finished porting your Solar Panel Calculator fiddle into the Assistant for No Man's Sky. I'd like to get your opinion on it before releasing it, Discord won't let me send you a direct message π . Please send me a message on Discord or Twitter so I can show you what I have made π
Is there a "melee anywhere" mod?

Does anyone have a save file where they have the intro completed? So I got the anomaly and stuff? Nothing else
Why not just play through it for barely an hour?
don't feel like it after a few times ;p
Why not use one of the files you already have then?
a vote for glass fix
Fine LOD
Tbh would actually love to see a MOD that would allow us to draw on objects
as a graffiti artist, i would properly try it out as one of the only mods since i dislike mods in general personal prefferences :p
@hushed bronze so uh, i've been holding back on asking, but how's the new Stratos looking?
A lot like pokemon actually
gonna have to redo lots of what you had done already or should be ready for 2.6.x?
You could even say it IS pokemon
hmm ok then
to be truthful I have no idea if its going to be finished ever. My motivation on NMS mods is borderline zero at the moment and has been for about two months now
thank you for your honesty.
Maybe the best thing for you would be to pass the project onto someone else so they can finish it. You wouldnβt want to be working on something that you donβt really want to do
Empyrean isn't really an option for handing over. Most of my other stuff would be, though
@tame siren Well, it wasn't broken, but sparky and I talked over how to deal with the new freighter teleporter and put up a new version. The old version was missing the power-free teleporter entirely.
Also, sparky is the one who actually did the updating this time around, so credit to him for sure π
Good man
@tame siren The teleporter didn't need power until the power update, and then the Desolation update included a near-clone of that for the teleporter to place on vanilla freighters
I've not yet seen a mod to stop auto-stowing the multitool, or at least make the delay more than 2 seconds. Any ideas? I use it so much, and it's starting to get irritating to have to click first just to get the stupid thing to 'activate' before I can use it
Hold r @grim cave
ok, when I get back from dinner, thanks
@grim cave It could be WeaponHolsterDelay in GcPlayerGlobals
@grand estuary Just sent you a friend request
Did anything interesting appear with the latest hotfix?
I found a json file to change layout of a freighter, but it wont save :/
@steady elk Can you be a bit more specific? You found your layout in the Save Editor Raw JSON, or did you find something in the game's source files?
Is there new datamined stuff other than summoning pet
@steady elk Can you be a bit more specific? You found your layout in the Save Editor Raw JSON, or did you find something in the game's source files?
@fallow meadow I think I already figured it out, I use the blender plugin now to edit nms things. However, do you know where I can find more json files like layouts for freighters etc?
@steady elk You can only have one freighter per save, which is stored in the Save Data the same way a normal base is stored. It is in the exact same location as well, just goes by a different number in the array of bases you have made. When you look in the Save Edit Raw JSON, you go to the 'PlayerStateData > PersistentPlayerBases' and check each of them listed. You can recognise a freighter base by the first parts listed, where you will see the following near the top:
"ObjectID":"^AIRLCKCONNECTOR"
You can copy that full base data into Blender and you will have your freighter base which you can edit and paste back in.
The only things you can edit with the Blender plugin are bases, either planet bases or your freighter base.
Ohh alright thanks a lot!
Is there a site with premade base files? Or I can only edit my own one?
For as far as I know, there is no website that shares creations, although it would be really cool to have I think. We could even create small templates and share them. As it stands however, without any place where base saves are shared, you basically just use it for your own custom edits.
when you use blender, can you get everything done? eg. power cables too?
that sort of details?
or is it just general placement of objects..
and other stuff?
π
Oh yes, there are basically no restrictions at all when using Blender.
You can use any parts you wish for a freighter base for example, although have to make sure things connect properly between planet parts and freighter parts. There are actually no range limitations either, where in-game you have max 1000u or so. You can go all out basically.
Do you think itβs possible for the NMS blender plug-in to include parts that are in game but missing so far - like the ruin modules in Eucli-ea?
sounds awesome. just get some minimal base startup templates or something, and i'd be good to go.
@sudden wasp You are restricted to parts that work in a vanilla game, which includes some of the parts that used to exist. Custom parts or parts that are made available through modding can also be used, but have to use the mod and added separately to custom models or it won't work. Of course with modded parts, only you will see this, other players without the mod won't
Yeah, just like Eucli-ea. also, the save editor has a backup function for bases, that could probably be shared among players
a website with like base blueprints would be sweet.
Yes, sharing is certainly possible. Using modded parts is possible with use of the Blender Plugin as well, but not provided by default
shared creations in general really
Here is an example of my freighter base in Blender
You can really go crazy with it. Scaling, rotation, parts, size, range, no restrictions pretty much
yeah, i feel the game is lacking scaling and rotation options
Although mods are great to allow you very similar while doing it in-game, I am not really into mods and actually prefer Blender because it makes it so much easier. Of course I check back in game a lot to ensure the result is good
with the in game build mode
Agree. I start all my bases in blender, only add decorative stuff in game
also, blender doesn't give a damn about terrain?
No, you dont get to see the terrain, because that would be really hard to accomplish. You could of course place some parts in strategic locations in-game, then load it to have a rough idea.
and sometimes interior stuff, if I donβt plan ahead well
eg. wanted to place a cuboid framework and game wouldn't let me build for some reason, invalid position. i looked at the ground multiple times, and i couldn't see anything that blocked it.
if i loaded that base in blender, then added the cuboid framework in that same spot, it would let me right?
"it wouldn't give a damn about the terrain"
that's what i meant
Yup, without a problem, because you do not have the in-game restrictions
yeah, thats nice. sure, just get some stuff done in game to get the general layout right
then open it in blender and edit away
Yes, sometimes I find a good location and make a rough start in-game to work from. Other times I just have a great idea for a base and look for a location after.
then you just plunk down a base computer, go back to blender and add it in
yeah, sounds so easy π
Exactly
Want planet wide base? I made one with a teleport loop that goes fully around the planet π Just a single base, and kinda hard to work with in Blender due to the scale for a planet with a radius of 65000u, but it can be done:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JriGpaxjau8
I do crazy stuff, which I think you are aware of by now
I will not detail all the tricks I know, because you can understand how it can be used for big time 'trolling' as well
this one's "low planetary orbit"
telep'orbit?
oh!!!
is this you in 1st person teleporting around??
you're breaking the game dude
Yes, it is the correct link. I use 32 sets of short range teleporters, rotated around the planet core at 65000u radius. So basically I get an automatic teleport around view to see the full planet. Could be used for Hubs to create a nice teleport network, visiting bases spread across planets
i was like what the heck is wrong with this thing
i get it now, this is insane
π
Hey! I want to install some minor visual mods (like the dark space one), but I don't know if they are compatible with the last game version or not.
Is there any easy way I can check that, besides trial and error? Thanks!
I'm scouting them on nexus btw
I could even go to other planets in the same system if need be, but distances are a multiplication of huge as it already is for a single planet. Could teleport to Space Stations and other fixed system positions as well.
should state if it's 2.6 ready on the mod page, @novel hedge
sort by last updated too
yeah, blender's too powerful of a tool to troll with. it could do some damage.
MBINCompiler was only recently released, so some mods will take some time updating. As said, check the dates when they were last updated if a mod does not work
And yes @round sinew but I try to avoid talking about what can be done. Some things I have shown, could already give ideas, let alone me detailing how exactly I do things
Cool! Thanks for the help, guys!
Just be glad I am not playing the game to troll around
totally get it, i do.
i rarely upload my bases, i would never use it to troll anyone - not a MP person anyway.
(much)
I do upload bases, not my test cases. I am not really into MP myself either though, but i love to share the cool things
No problem, you're welcome
Can you edit maneuvrability in the json files?
@steady elk You could possibly edit some of the values for installed tech to add more bonus or give a higher base value. Alternatively you could consider modding or installing a mod that changes this in the game source files.
Save editing is limited to the data exposed to you, so not everything will be possible.
Do you know what values would give more maneuvrability in stats?
Not sure what to look for
No clue of the top of my head. Not even sure if maneuverability itself is available in any of the data. I think you are limited to being able to get the best possible upgrade for the Pulse Engine, because the value for maneuverability is likely not exposed.
Just had a quick look, but the values itself are not exposed, so you can only give yourself the best possible upgrades that alters maneuverability. This is something you'd have to get a mod for or create one yourself
@steady elk Something that will help but not entirely mitigate the issue of maneuverability is a mod I made, which adjusts the weighting of whether an upgrade module will be high or low stats. I changed them all to Minimum Stats Are Super Rare, causing better stats to be more common. You could use that and go find some Pulse Engine upgrade modules.
Is it safe to install mods that alter planets mid-run or should you start a new game?
Define "alter planets"
You could but you should have your save on a space station if it changes terrain
If it's just colors then you have nothing to worry about
has anyone made a freighter module like freighter teleportation module, where you can access the freighter from a planet if the freighter is in the system? lol
You mean teleport to it? You can't
I thought you already could? Just need the matter beam or whatever it is called
really?
im pretty new so wasnt aware that existed
i just know that having to dock with it to access the storage is really tedious lmao
I don't use freighters much, but it's called something like that
sweet ill look taht up thanks
No problem
I've teleported to freighters before, but only if I was using a build anywhere mod and made a Base Computer in it first
Then I dropped a Teleporter and could go to/from stations. Was great except I also had my Terminals in the freighter, and moving the Freighter sometimes caused those quests to go awry until I returned to the system the quest had started in, but that was easy so long as that system had a Space Station in it.
@fickle slate Also, I combined that mod's modular variant with https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/797 for awesomeness.
Good times and great planets have ensued
@tame siren they are both compatible with eachother?
is no clouds still compatible with desolation?
Anyone know what these new options in Debug do? I enabled them, but haven't noticed anything yet:
AlwaysAllowShipOperations = "True" --False
AlwaysAllowVehicleOperations = "True" --False
AlwaysAllowFreighterInventoryAccess = "True"--False
i wonder if that last one has anything to do with Matter beam installed/non-installed... or if matter beam storage container access is available anywhere
just ideas
Good idea. I'll test that
For as far as I know, there is no website that shares creations, although it would be really cool to have I think. We could even create small templates and share them. As it stands however, without any place where base saves are shared, you basically just use it for your own custom edits.
@steady elk @fallow meadow I made github website specifically for this.
Ah yes, totally forgot about your site for this. Will make sure to bookmark it again
no idea on what allowshipoperations and allowvehicleoperations would be though, been trying to come up with something
are ShipOperations and VehicleOperations referenced in anywhere else?
Haven't seen them before. Freighter inventory access doesn't override the matter beam need, unfortunately, tested that
@fickle slate Make sure to use something like Joew's Mod Manager to check for conflicts and yes, they're compatible - what you want is NMS Fantasy Synthesis's modular / splited version, rather than the all-in-one. Most but not all of the modules are compatible.
As you can see, I've got three parts of BPGL, and maybe half the NMS Fantasy Synth modules
Oh ok, Thank you. I'll probably copy your layout here then, won't get the mod manager if your good on your end and use SCI-FI Visual Overhaul instead of the Fantasy.
Always best to have the conflict manager just in case - mine says there's no conflicts, but that only means none of them are modifying the same file
The visual overhauls particularly are tricky since they have a lotta stuff in them
Joew's Mod Manager is quite simple, too - you just run it, it opens a list of your mods, you click Refresh, then Check for Conflicts
@fickle slate ^
Alrighty, thank you for the help.
np
so I have a question, a kind of planet finding script seems to exist in the game as some missions require specific biomes and the game can automatically search for that planet, even if it is another location, would it be possible to create an item that can find planets whicever the user requests it to with certain parameters, such as lush, no sentinel, no harsh weather?
Hmm that would probably be very complex
And possibly take a long time to write the script and code and stuff for it
Iβm sure itβs possible that someone could be working on it though
you wouldn't be able to specify the params in game
however it may be possible to create a set of mission triggers that scan for a particular planet
so one of each particular type
Someone knows the current ShopNumber and ShopTier for the SaveEditor?
We kind of have that in vanilla though because you can scan for certain minerals you want and it will lead you to a radioactive planet if you want Uranium, or to a frost planet if you want Dioxite
Or try scanning for pariffinium, could have a chance to pick up a lush planet
You may be able to scan for star brambles idk though
So you donβt really need a mod for it
@steady elk @fallow meadow I made github website specifically for this.
https://charliebanks.github.io/nms-base-builder-presets/
@sacred frigate yoo thanks this was what I was looking for!!
@vale iron what do you think ShowUniverseAddressOnGalaxyMap will do, when HG enables it? show the glyphs of a system in the expanded system info panel? it would be awesome, if it were something like
Using blender to make my base, do I need to make sure everything is connected precisely? Or will it do that automatically? It doesn't snap the pieces in blender like it would in building mode
i've not yet played with it, but from the videos i saw, i think there was something that needed to be toggled (?) to enable snapping in the blender models?
could be wrong, i'm just not sure, but it could steer you in a different line of thought, sometimes that helps
@odd stag We are currently at ShopNumber 34, with ShopTier 3 almost unlocked.
@steady elk The Blender plugin does have its own snapping menu in the toolset. Not all parts snap however, but most will snap like you'd expect. Check some of the videos listed on the GitHub, it includes snapping as well
@fallow meadow thanks mate!
Do you know which dds compression option I should use while saving a font file to ensure detectable by the game?
@naive sedge Looks like the font .dds files are compressed using DXT5
@naive sedge
For example GEOSANSLIGHT_0.DDS using texdiag.exe as follows (Command line):
texdiag info GEOSANSLIGHT_0.DDS
GEOSANSLIGHT_0.DDS
width = 512
height = 512
depth = 1
mipLevels = 10
arraySize = 1
format = BC3_UNORM
dimension = 2D
alpha mode = Unknown
images = 10
pixel size = 341 (KB)
source: https://github.com/microsoft/DirectXTex
Info Texdiag: https://github.com/microsoft/DirectXTex/wiki/Texdiag
Are there any good mods that expand on planets making them more interesting and/or varied?
check nexusmods, sorting by last updated - i'm giving Gnome Ann's sky a go atm
@lime mesa Better Planet Generation Legacy, and you can combine it with NMS Fantasy Synthesis (splited version, totally modular) for extra kick and options.
Just make sure if you use both to make use of a conflict detector, some of the modules will override BPGL and vice versa
@round sinew I swear it used to do exactly that, but I don't have any screenshots so I can't say for sure.
Whomever I was telling about LuckyWithTech, it was PlayerGlobals, not DebugOptions. Sorry.
I hate picking screenshots for new mods
heh, I just hate when I have to do that for a mod where every screen hasto be a reload for comparison shots lol
is there anything that lets you repaint your ship?
You can save edit to change it on PC, but it's not really simple and it only affects the appearance to you, not multiplayer
I'll be at my computer in a little bit and will send instructions and tag you
@lofty plover Here is @gray imp 's original description of how to manually change ship color:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyMods/comments/dkob5c/manual_ship_and_multitool_color_customization/
Here is my writeup on how and why it works:
Here is an example of both a normal ship recolor and a bioship recolor, both with everything set to white:
And finally, here are all the different palette names, probably way beyond what you want or need:
Thank you
@steady elk The Blender plugin does have its own snapping menu in the toolset. Not all parts snap however, but most will snap like you'd expect. Check some of the videos listed on the GitHub, it includes snapping as well
@fallow meadow thanks a lot for the help!
I read that it's apparently not possible to mod the galactic map to have a black background anymore, is there a mod to help differentiate the stars from each other because the back drop against the nebula makes it so darn hard to make out their colors.
Oh yeah, that's much better. Thanks! I could tell as soon as I went through the initial loading screen too.
π
can i convert a save from normal to survival ?
i tried the save editor but it doesn't have that option
normal is waaaaay to easy
That's nice. How?
the save editor needs some interface overhualing
pretty good imo
its very basic and if your used to that interface its servicable.
but i can see how it is off putting to most who arent used to moding.
Can't send images, finally loaded a crazy build into my freighter
how did it go @steady elk ? how was the experience? any tips you might give to others interested in blender editing?
I first went it without really looking at a few videos thinking i would do it 1,2,3 and got frustrated
I then took a step back and watched some videos and explanations, and got it working!
Are there jetpack files to edit with the json editor?
Is there a way to change fleet frigate classes? Save editor won't let me
Frigates class up from combat experience
maybe add combat experience
"successful encounters" or w/e tf its called

hell yeah thanks
Can someone help me to increase draw distance of terrain objects (especially grass, flowers and plants. Trees load at far distances) while I am walking? It feels abysmal to see grass pop out of thin air just 30-40 metres ahead of me.
I have tried various mods but unfortunately none of them worked. I messed around with various graphics settings too.
I have a pretty good PC. So, I feel that I can do something about it
@sick glacier try this : https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1316
the ULTRA version
see if that helps
It doesn't work as intended. Thanks though m
I think that I have tried every mod so far.
@vale iron Some time ago you were asking for ideas for a mod. Would it be possible to have a freighter indicator visible next to a system name in teleporter list like it does for missions?
Are there any no pause on loss focus mods out there?
No nothing anymore and any of the old tricks and mods no longer work...
Oof, that sucks. Well then do you know any working space dust and plasma removers? Tried to find a working one without luck.
Multiplayer, crossplay and Nexus mission etc Do not of course pause the game when focus is lost...
Hello, does anyone know if there is a mod that removes the annoying smoke effect when flying in space?
Glad to see a lot of the mods are catching up with the desolation update. Is anyone working on getting tesseraction still?
Isn't there something like tesseraction built into the new kibbles n bits mod?
dev blog next week
vlog blev weekend sex
looking for a mod for the galaxy map that plots your course further. Unmodded galaxy map only plots your course up to ~600ly. Anything like that out there?
Sad all my mods don't work D:
Space is so bright now! π
Dev blog text peak
So I guess it is not possible to 'paste' text into the name field for systems, planets, etc?
Does dud's sky-colors alter terrain or is it strictly colors?
Should be just colors
Would that make it safe to use mid-playthrough?
I don't think you will have any issues
I think I'll slap it on and see if I like it. I take it I can remove it safely too?
Visual mods are the safest kind
Unless it's one of those Thomas the tank engine mods, then not safe because of posible brain damage.
Yeah I figured since it's only colors there shouldnt be issues
You can add and remove it no issues.
It does not alter terrain.
I have an indev terrain mod but itβs not part of anything released.
Cool. The night skies mod in there makes things darker. You might check out:
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/507
There are mods for exocraft lights, spaceship lights, buildable lights, and outpost lights. And other stuff.
You can use any of the mods together or separately. @vocal jewel
Oh holy crap youβre the mod author π
I don't know if that's a good or bad thing lol, but yes. Glad you're enjoying it. π
@steel crypt Would you happen to know off the top of your head if your mod is compatible with "Asteroid Fields 2.4"?
Or maybe I can drop that one? It makes asteroids much less common and concentrates minerals in them a little better
If you are talking about DUDβS SKY, it contains several mods. You can use all or in your case you can remove the asteroid mod and use the other one you like.
ok, thanks!
this is pain
does a mod exist that allows us to increase craftable stack size more conveniently?
game doesn't allow rebinding these
Anyone got that mod that spawns in living ships?
you can get them via save editor I think
the person who can make a mod that sets craftable stack size adjustable with scroll wheel would be my savior
It's so sad that I have to beat the D-key hundreds of times when crafting a ton of metal sheets for mass building
this game will be the cause of a broken key
Thank Atlas for modders that bring some much needed variety to the game
@hushed bronze you know better than to assume lol. I never did or do maintain tesseraction and no, it is not part of my mod.
The only thing in it that might break is an oopsie with a stray material file that might cause it to not load probably. Whoever uploaded to Nexus just needs to remove that and re-upload and it should work.
what name the mod ?
The Moddily Moddy Mod Mod
Mody McMod Face
Moderately Modest Moody Mode Mod
Mas que belesura
^ lol beleza
beleza beleza
does anyone have an updated version of the mod, clean space and/or clean paint?
Dont think either need updates tho. Have you tried em?
yes, with them installed my game crashes. It did NOT crash before the derelict update
i have done the verify files, uninstall/reinstall - same thing.
it gives me an error "mods are not supported" then crashes
Anyone here uses mods? Which?
up until this update, i used 2 cosmetic mods
the clean space that removes the colored lines of impulse and the clean paint mod that removes the paint dings on ships. I had to remove them as they were crashing my game after this derelict update
Ok what are the best NMS mods?
Are there mods that make inventory management not be complete and total garbage?
as a streamer, i love the clean space mod. The rainbow lines in pule drive cause pixelation on stream. Clean space removes them - making the stream cleaner
Where do you get mods?
you couldn't hyperlink that for me
bro come on i just woke up
no coffee in me yet
dont be lazy
why not
@lime mesa Paintchip still works in desolation.
I didn't make clean space tho so updating that one isn't my problem π
fair enough!
the Clean Space was causing the crash "incompatible mod"
you are correct @hushed bronze paint chipper DOES work for me, too
Looks like that mod author hasn't been active in about 8 months, if it is actually broken, no idea if it will get an update. If no update comes and it is still broken in a few days, post again and someone will likely see about doing an update
I haven't decompiled the mod, but I'm guessing it's not too difficult to replicate
i have no clue about coding, apologies π¦
I've posted a Desolation-compatible update for Stratos
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1342
sweeeet
ty ty!
π
will donate something when i can, i promise. at least enough for you to get a drink or go out for lunch sometime. just not the best of times right now.
has anyone modded the pre-release style system skyboxes?
Does anyone know of a long grass mod that works...?
using these mods, https://dpaste.com/HETS62V4A.txt, added Stratos today. i see those weird darker bands. should i take all of them out, and test just Stratos, @hushed bronze ?
its an issue with the game rather than the mod I think
I have these bands generally
GTAO being the blame
well, i should have said that i dont see them with stratos off
Even if I turn GTAO off, it still does it
with GTAO off
Do you get the lines in 3rd person...?
oh huh then it is from the mod
Do you get the lines in 3rd person...?
@cosmic badger i think so, need to check. edit: checked 3rd person, still happens yeah
Is the Milestone Fix mod something that's still needed?
Hmm, lets try a thing or two, I guess. @round sinew
Same thing minus shadow draw extensions
gotcha, downloading
yeah, now that i read "shadow draw", shadows did act weird
Seems to have fixed it :) just waiting for this storm to pass so I can see better, but shadow "flickering" and banding seem to be gone.
well thats slightly unfortunate for rays, but lets try one more thing, maybe we can get the best of both π
Exiting game and redownloading
I also threw in the lower minimum sunray angle factor that I discovered while working on Empyrean. Its a powerful one-liner so π
nice π ok, so going back in
That plus a very mild increase on only one shadow type, hopefully let you get nice rays without any banding side effects
I previously had 10x distance on five types. Much more reckless than my usual thing lol
oh wait
@round sinew I retarded, come back lol
Lol
no nvm I think I did it right after all
I have no memory of recompiling the edits but the timestamps are right, so...
Wouldn't be the first time I zipped through a mod change so fast I don't remember it lol
I totally wasted one of your bootups ! muahaha
nice
You can if you like, never hurts to have more mod page pics lol
but I am always interested in your modded ones too
Yeah pretty cool when the only thing I did to rays was bring their angle clamp from 55 to 90 (Who the fuck was like nah,low angle rays, fuck that)
and adjust the color
That looks like tiny star brambles, are those planted at a base?
yeah π
sweet
afk for a bit, brb
sorry,brb
π
love how star bramble look, planted like 95 of them, at night they just look so cool
Star bramble is the perfect name for them too
going to have dinner in a few, but after it's going to be screenshotting everywhere
haha
haven't check exactly how many i have in screenshots folder, but lots of them are with stratos on
Is your reshade config posted anywhere?
sorry to disapoint you
those shaders are looking peak of epic
still stands out against the new update
looks a mega ton better
I think it would be cool/funny/ridiculous if there was a mod that let planets use any color for everything. So you could get red snow, black grass, etc
Not on a planet with red snow
Oh I was just spitballing
basically just a color mod that "unlocks" what colors can be used
struggling between "food now!" or more "NMS! screenshot! screenshot!"
Who needs food anyway
π
Food just makes you fat
Is there a long grass mod out there at the moment anyone???
Why can't anyone request a mod I'm not responsible for updating lol
You are in charge of long grass???
Right I'm on Nexus now thanks... I search you see and didn't see grass in the title so just skipped past... Thanks and you are agreat part of the community thanks for all the mods of your I have installed...
π
I wonder. Is it legal/ethical to commission mods for this game?
If you're talking about requests, there's no stopping you
No pokemon...
Oh no I meant monetary payment in exchange for a tailored mod
Well, many nexus modpages accept donations
As long as you aren't paying with human organs it should be ethical
@steel crypt Hi! I hope it's ok to ping you. If not I apologize. I was just wondering if you were open to hearing mod requests? My potential request involves colors and I recognize you as someone who knows colors pretty well. If commissioning mods is allowed for this game I'd be willing to discuss that as well if a free request isn't to your liking.
Time to found another billboard to convince Sean to ship NMS with DUD's Sky Colors.
@vocal jewel Well he already has several color mods out. they dont cover it?
Not exactly but they are very good nonetheless
what are you hoping for?
I'd like to see what planets would look like if you basically told the game "Use whatever colors you want regardless of what they'll be used for." I believe I mentioned red snow as being a potential outcome as an example.
That usually generates eye rape, sadly
Ah, hmm, I see
Its not your request, but I do have an unreleased color mod hanging around you could play with for the hell of it
That one only affects lush worlds, but it boosts variety a bunch
I spent a long time thinking through and making a color panel generator in excel.
If you use it with ground fix it gets doubled up, but I hear ground fix is not 100% atm
By that I mean ground fix, when working, enables an second entire 64-option color panel for half of the lush planets
I think Ill get that updated now actually
Eye violation or not I'd still like to see what my request would actually generate. But I understand now why people wouldnt bother to do it since the outcome seems undesirable
I'd do it myself but I'm guessing learning to mod this game is a rather large can of worms
Can be
Some things are way trickier than others, aand its hard to guess what will be challenging without being experienced in NMS's particular bullshit, lol
I need someone to use NMS Save Editor to delete my duplicate Jetpack, Life Support, and Hazard Protection. I play on XBOX, and I need someone with a PC to log in on my account to locate the save and delete said items. I don't know if this will work or not, due to XBOX being a cloud save. I attempted on my laptop but it's too slow and my save won't appear. Granted it might be due to using No Man's Sky from the App Store and not through Steam. Regardless, if anyone can come up with information or solutions, or a helping hand in this it would be greatly appreciated. I've already contacted HelloGames and filed a ticket for this bug. It's been an ongoing issue for many players, but PC players have found a way around this using the Save Editor.
Updated Ground Fix
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1080?tab=files
great, the new screenshots will be taken running that too. π
Are there mods for adding more enemies or making existing enemies more aggresive?
exo's ground fix apparently fixed my fauna problem
Hey guys. Having issues using some of Exosolars mods, anyone got a sec to help out?
Im installing them the way it says on the docs section using AMUMSS but I cant see the extra base parts
Yeah none of them are showing or working in my nms π¦
is there a seed for the sentinel mothership that appears with full wanted level?
or has anyone made a mod that has it accessible as a player freighter?
yeah spawn rates were severely screwed
rare creatures were far more common than commons
and this fixed it ?
seems to have, for some obscure reason
because i have spawn problems too
a lot of times it wont spawn at all
hmm, i might try it then
Is there a mod that lets you galaxy hop easier?
ooo ignored lovely community
Yea we're just evil like that π
@hushed bronze Would it be possible to make a version of your 'planet type converter' that applies to one specific planet and is a permanent effect? Like the Genesis bomb in Star Trek, heh.
Guys what's the general consensus on modding vs vanilla on PC?
Both options are good. It's just a matter of if there is something a mod has that you want in the game
Just in case there are different people on who may be able to answer: do any mods exist that let you galaxy hop easier?
@grim cave No, nothing can affect one specific planet except bases
@vocal jewel My game I have unlimited hyperdrive range and 'turbo mode' on the galaxy map is really fast. There is also a mod that changes map colours to be more apparent. Is that what you're looking for?
I just had someone piggyback me to Eissentam so all's good π
Oh full on galaxy swap, I use "NoMansConnect" https://github.com/jaszhix/NoMansConnect on pc. But I'm not sure if all 255/256 galaxies have working teleport coords on there
glad you got it sorted
Is anyone helping out with void eggs?
@hushed bronze while searching for a good location in a scorched biome, https://imgur.com/a/N92TW1u. both reshaded and non-reshaded. would you like to see more? i'll post more on other worlds when i get to them. small observation: at night, current dark levels are awesome, really giving that feel of night time. but in some situations, it's a bit too dark imo. i think i need to play around with that a bit in the reshade filter config. (lowered fAdp_DarkenMax a bit so far)
@vale iron Sorry for bothering you, did you see my previous message here?
About adding freighter icons to the teleporter list?
Sorry, yeah I saw it, but have no idea how to do that
Ok, thanks for response
@round sinew Yeah I agree darkest is too dark sometimes and it gets mentioned a lot by other players too.
it allows for these shots to happen, and i love that feeling of not knowing exactly where i'm going, or whats around me - i don't want to lose that ya know?
(a sentinel lighting the way on this one actually)
I agree to some extent. But there's also the fact to consider, that exocraft headlights don't work with this mod lol
true
if i leave my torch on though
i have lights while cruising with Roamer
it's not roamer's own lights though
so that's how i kinda deal with that
So its just "leave the suit torch on when you get in"?
i honestly feel like it's worth sacrificing that for the all the other things the mod does
yeah
basically
Does it work every time?
yeah
you can tell the light source isn't quite where it's supposed to be though, if you can imagine
almost like it's inside the car, a little bit closer to the ground
ew not the filthy ground, thats gross
eheu gross
disgusting like those perverse Gek
Honestly I can see gek being perverted
Spoilers for Furrowfield in Dragon Quest Builders 2, but a good example is how the Children of Hargon perverted the ||Deitree|| into spreading the Ill Wind.
Dark can be pretty tho
Way better than the bright blue nights on every planet.
the bright blue nights doesn't look as grainy
Dear lord fantasy synthesis is huge
So many features
Iβm guessing you need a new save for it π
I forget. Do I need to be on a station before activating Dud Sky Colors or can I be planet side?
DUDβS SKY - COLORS does not mod voxel terrain or object placement. Therefore there is no need to save at a station. @vocal jewel
I love extreme planets save for how bland they look. Hopefully the mod changes that π
@naive moth uh, the lights have gone rampant. Unaltered _lightfix part 1
@waxen dome Oof, it's been quite some time since I've played NMS, lol. I haven't updated it for a while. I'll see what I can do and get back to you once I've updated it
π I imagine it's just an intensity issue.
Maybe they actually improved the base lighting?
Could be. The fact that the mod still works probably means the files themselves haven't been altered in updates. But I'll have to check to make sure
They did actually improve the lighting of the game engine
inside
I wish I could have the environments of legacy NMS (super colorful and alien) but with the up to date mechanics and content of current NMS
too bad π
You cant have that
And also water crashes your game now
Also looking at the sky also crashes your game so its literally no mans sky
Hmm, seems fantasy synthesis is also safe to add/remove whenever. I guess you ought to be in a station when doing so tho π
It's a thicc mod
Too much stuff going on
absolute unit
Where is the documentation
It scares me
Why does it uses images to poorly explain stuff
Pls write i am having nightmares
If the mod was secretly evil I doubt it would be as popular as it is. But I can understand being overwhelmed as it is indeed a huge mod π
Meh
Its more like
Its huge it works
But its nexus page is messy
And I like to know what I am installing and how exactly works and what it really does
And its nexus page fails to explain all of that due to how big the mod is
Better, due to the huge amount of mods in a single page
Compare to Duds Sky which even if it isnt as big it explains the different mods and what they do
Well at least it's safe to remove/add as much as you want, at least so says the page
I'm most hyped by how it tries to make the game look more like early concepts/e3
Iβve had some fun with it so far
So, I think of starting using mods to bring the forbidden variety into the game
Is the guide in pinned posts still valid for Desolation update?
Nvm, I see it's just for developing mods, but what about installing and using mods? Do I just slap Vortex on NMS?
Vortex is dicey, just make a "mods" folder in pcbanks
and dump it all there
and remove the disablemods txt file in pcbanks
Ok, will give it a try
always good to check the mod update date and comments to see if it still works
Yeah, I sort by last updated
@hushed bronze when you can, would you please look at the clean space mod? Still sits at last update of Aug 2019.
@lime mesa Is it not working? It would probably help him to know exactly what doesn't work
the mod, Clean Space by JJhookah, causes my game to outright crash. It's a mod that removed the rainbow colored speed lines in impulse drive. It triggered an error, "incompatible mod".
Exo said that if there hadnt been any updates in a day or 2 to message here
For streamers, this particular mod is AMAZING because the speed lines overload the encoader and causes pixelation
Looks like it's not by JJ, but Paletizma
I'll take a look at it
Man that's old, 1.24
@lime mesa Try this. I think that's the changes that were being made, but it needs testing.
It looks like Lo2k has the space dust, plasma, and halo effects taken care of in his mods, so this should be the only part that needed updating
thank you @vale iron i appreciate you looking into this
@vale iron "No free freighter. Get a job, you bum." - who came up with this (way of describing the change)? you did? hilarious π
I'm testing now and with Lo2k's 4 other mods, it's perfectly clean: No Ship Speed Effect, No Space Dust and Plasma, and No Space Lines
Nah, I just copied the work that was already done π I'll upload it tonight or tomorrow
awesome π
so sad that the terrain doesn't work anymore π¦
In order to disable mods, I just need to re-apply the DISABLEMODS.txt file, right? The MODS folder and it's contents can stay?
Correct
Possible to use nexus mods on the game pass version of this game?
yes
AFAIK, no one has gotten mods working with Game Pass
That's what its looking like, thanks
@waxen dome Alright, mod has been updated as promissed: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1496 π
@naive moth π π π
Yes @lime mesa , and updates have an annoying habit of restoring the file
Yeah itβs currently not possible to mod game pass version because the files are encrypted or something
Ya, its crazy that the master chief collection can be modded but not NMS
Halo MMC MS Store version or Steam version?
Interesting, I thought all MS apps were running in sandbox
Thanks @naive moth I'll try that out
is there an updated mod to make space black? like Black Space but updated
or does the black space 2.1 still work
nvm found what I want
Black Space 2.1 and my own Pure Black Expanse should both work fine @pastel tendon
right ty
I remember there once was a mod that gave non-lush planets the lush color palette
I wish we had something like that still π
ey, is there any working mod to increase the inventory stack size for survival ?
ty
This is a screenshot montage of a custom terrain mod, created by me for No Man's Sky. It shows some of the diverse terrain generation, that can be possible in No Mans Sky. Hopefully, the Next update for No Mans Sky will bring more awesome and improved procedural terrain genera...
Hmm, a little rough but some alien sites there...
DUD'S SKY updated v2.61.2
(Fixed an issue with Spaceship headlights mod)
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/507
is there some way to generate a ship seed based on what parts and colors you want ?
Not at the moment I think but there are people thinking about producing something...
what have they done to the gravity stuff
I'm floating in space with a mech and when floating past anomaly for example, the gravity slowly turns towards it, as if it had its own gravity field
same happens when floating past freighters or planets
the mech aligns itself as if that object was pulling it down in space
Okay. Space objects definitely seem to have a personal gravity field around them now. I almost began orbiting my freighter as it kept tilting my Y axis along with the direction towards the freighter
weird stuff
Is there a mod that simply tones down the intensity of Visor effects/Vignettes during storms?
Having looked around I could only find ones that mess with storm frequency or complete removal of storms.
(Right now I'm staring at a lemon yellow screen with silhouettes of plants. It's getting ridiculous.)
Do any of you have the model for a sentinel drone
I need this for very important, leg related purposes
does no mans connect still work looking to get closer to people
Looks like the only color-enhancing mod that is updated right now is Dud's
I like it, but it's a bit too, uh, minor for me
I wish there was something a bit stronger
eye twitch i need more colors
My dream mod would be one that adds the powerful colors brought by Fantasy Synthesis and, well, that would be it
hmm actually I think I can probe fantasy synthesis and do just that
@vocal jewel https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/788
not updated
oh really?
yep
the sky one doesn't work anymore
but water and terrain/grass works perfect
it even has colors for planetary rings.
I downloaded the splitted up version of Fantasy Synthesis and probed into it a little bit. I found a set of "visual overhaul" PAKS which I assume just change textures
Thanks for letting me know those still work ,Ady π
Sad the skies dont work tho
I wonder why not
seems the author disappeared off the face of the earth 9 months ago
it's @thin viper 's mods, they're just busy with irl stuff
oh ok
Well I hope they can find time to fix the sky mod but I understand RL stuff being a barrier
@vocal jewel You tried Stratos? It's updated and has thousands of possibilities: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1342 Dud's is also updated, but I think it is more tame than you are looking for.
OwO
tbh I gotta commend farmer stark for being able to future proof the planet and water mods. Honestly amazing they still work when they were last updated in december
Yeah, just depends on how much HG messes with those files. Most of the these mods survived several months, but HG added some new features to textures and materials that broke a lot of previously safe stuff
So yeah I think Stark can rest easy after all. Planet and water work fine and there's an incredible sky alternative that still works π
oh my god it's beautiful
Can I donate to him
I want to donate
Exo has donation, I believe
You might also want to check Dud's Colors. It's not as varied, but more curated. Just don't mix Stratos with the two of Dud's that change sky color
trying to teach myself blender for the first time
made this thing , its alot of electromagnetic generators
seems bothering that i cant move camera around properly, because my scroll wheel on click is broken
ok so im looking for mods to make the game prettier as stated by some above but what is a good combo for sky and land just looking for compatible ones
@vale iron Hey I just wanted to say I've been enjoying the challenge mod so far. I also have an idea for another feature if it can be done. Basically it removes any purchasable recipes from the Nexus that can be found elsewhere (such as removing the farmable plants from the Nexus and only letting you unlock them through the base missions
That's a good idea. I don't suppose you know of a list that shows where each item can be obtained, to make it easier for me, like a wiki? π
Is there anything that seems to need more adjustment, in your experience?
I can try to find something for that yeah. In terms of adjustment everything has been going just as I felt it would. The ship starting super far away and the whip plant taking me out in two shots π
I'm only two and a half hours in so I haven't experienced all of it yet
@vale iron This is the best I could find
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Base_building
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Base_Computer_Archives
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Blueprint_Analyser
That way these blueprints can only be unlocked through missions or with the buried technology modules. Blueprints other than these can stay in the Nexus pretty much
Cool. Funny thing is I'm playing right now an just came up with another idea. With the ancient keys for ruins maybe have them be spread out a little more so it would be tricky to find them. Or maybe just remove them from ruins and have them become a rare item you can find naturally
I also have an idea
spread the ruin chest models in caves and underhround and have them include loot like QS, nanited, multitools or S-class modules
That would be outside the realm of GExo's Challenge pack, unfortunately
Ahh. That's fine
@hoary drum Sorry, I meant @waxen cedar 's idea wouldn't fit in the modpack. Yours might and I'll look at it later.
what are the write speeds for certain drives? So I can determine what is the cheapest option of drives I can get and not have it take ten years to write 25 gb worth of files.
totally depends on the drive, usually specs like that are listed if looking online
as in inherently the fastest kind of external drive to read and write data, very much like an internal SSD but for ones that only store around 50 to 64 gbs
I do have a flash drive that can store a hefty load of data however it's write speed is smaller than my 30 Megabit online transfer speed.
well you've got your run of the mill SSD which im pretty sure you can get in an external flavour, but even they have a wide variety of read/.write speeds depending on manufacturer/model etc and will be limited by whatever external interface they use (eg USB 3 is going to be stuck at a maximum of about 640Mb/s)
I don't understand what this has to do with modding
modding a computer
@stable wedge Just keep in mind, the values you see listed on drives for writes/reads are often the results of synthetic benchmarks, not your usual daily applications like copying some files evey now and then
Just Launched:
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1638
Is there a mod out there that removes clouds from any planet that does not have water?
At this point I would just like to see clouds removed from planets without an atmosphere
so does this mean that clouds basically can not be affected at all?
They can
But as far as I know we can only either keep it the way it is or turn it off for everything
I'm really tempted to just turn them off then.
hey, anyone know about a mod that fixes lamps and lights not actually lighting up shit?
ty that's the one I didn't find in quicksearch
because "lightfix" and not "light fix" xD
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1496
@left sentinel my light are flipping
Charge money for the show
ok fine, but there better be good music
I created a new mod if someone wants to try:
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1640
Changes:
- More Challenging Fights against Pirates, Drones, Animals and Fiends.
- 1 Million Credits Death Penalty
- Longer HealthRecharge Delay
- More & Longer Storms on dangerous Planets
- Suit Upgrades are very Expensive
- Less Inventory Slots on Start
- Show Shop Intro again
- ShopNumber set to 34 and ShopTier3
- Light (Torch) doesn't have that big delay
are there mods that only influence how often and how severe storms are?
@wintry seal Fantastic mod!
@round sinew in earlier Versions they had a "intro" before you can access the shops, which showed you different statistics like how many ships you destroyed and so on. This is enabled again in my mod
oh! i remember that!
iteration bk201 terminal access prompt
yeah yeah, they did away with that
Discovery log also used to include SOLs survived, aliens met and distance travelled on specific planets
etc
would be nice to have that
I see there is an 'Extreme Survival' entry in the Milestones that shows SOL's
Yup. That shows the overall sols but the old discovery log had each planet display the stats gained on that one
So planet A and B would have separate amount of SOLs and alien encounter listings
what save editor do you guys recommend for someone trying to restore items from a save on another platform
check pinned message
cool thanks
@lime mesa Your cheapest option I would recommend is if your pc suppots NVME a sumsung evo NVME, if it does not a samsung EVO ssd.
I use a 500gb samsung evo ssd and it's fantastic. Last a lot longer than other ssd's too. I found a groupon discount and got it for the same price as a crappier WD ssd.
what mods do you guys suggest
QOL, gameplay nothing cheaty. just cool stuff
i recommend mods from this user. They are mostly QOL
and this for more colors and variation
I haven't been following the recent nms updates, what's wrong with mining laser? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/591610799932309522/739100514540847174/unknown.png
oh when it said fix, i thought something was broken
@torn girder forgot to say thank you, got caught up in looking
No mans sky is to easy? You want it more challenging, harder fights, without anything else?
Here you go: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1642/
is there a mod that buffs exocraft terrain manipulator so it's on par with the multi tools?
looking for one that increase resource gain or makes the size adjustable?
you get a lot more overall using the multi tool with the smallest size vs the exocraft
huh really
always kind of bugged me on ps4
I thought its the same
ohhh jesus I am being really horrible at reading today
I was thinking exomech
completely forgot all exocrafts can dig deposits
I haven't used the mech yet, is it better at deposits?
wish there was a mod for the exocrafts
I wont be surprised if down the road they gave all exocrafts the bore tool
Yeah bore tool is hott
I got sick of constant pop in even with the relevant setting (world quality or smth) at max so I went and got Fine Lod. Ultra because mama raised no bitch.
what mod gives the infinite teleporter cable length?
someone on event planet has built a teleport between portal location and the mission locatio
is there a way to download previous releases of mods from nexus mods? or can you only download the most recent update
maybe i'm just doing something wrong. What's the proper procedure for installing a .pak mod? does it go in the MODS folder? in the PCBANKS folder? do i have to unpack game files? do i need the enablemods.txt file?
i'm having a tough time finding answers online
i'm not even sure if mods i've tried to install are working properly
i get the warning when opening the game but their effects don't seem to be applying
to install a mod, you make a folder called MODS in the PCBANKS folder. All .pak files go in that folder. Make sure you've deleted or moved DISABLEMODS.txt
if you're seeing the warning that probably means the mods are working
Is there a currently functioning mod that will remove the clipping check in base building? Normally use Exo's, but the landing pad won't allow clipping in the current release.
I'm a little confused. Which one makes the grass appear more?
likes, does 40u mean that you can only see grass within 40u?
likes, does 40u mean that you can only see grass within 40u?
@round sinew
120u should make the grass start drawing like further away from your current position i think
or fixing it.
π
sucks that the experimental build doesnt actually fix the animals
good thing we have mods!
is there an updated mod that adds the 1.0 filter back?
I think it's called Vintage in photo mode
Looks like fantasy synthesis might have that
They have "visual overhauls" and one of them is e3 nostalgia
@tacit tide Try GBase. If it doesn't work, let me know
@vocal jewel yes exactly a 40u circle around the player up to 120u of where it will spawn in
40u still looks fantastic btw and the best effect (hiding caves you can fall in) still happens lol.
Which file do I download for Exosolar's Quick Scan?
if there is a new update for it at all
nvm guess I'll just need to wait
Are there any good graphical / terrain mods?
The one that removes the earthquake-like screen shaking is amazing, if you get motion sick

@fringe sail I can use mcdamm to extract graphical mods, I can then pick and choose which .dds files I want and put them into the merge folder and it seems to repak it all fine. Have not done anything drastic outside of "oh this is giving me black texture squares because I merged wrong" repaks with other mods .dds "all good".
Well, the mod in question also uses MBIN files.
Which I think need to be recompiled because the mod causes a CTD on save load.
@mental zephyr Fantasy Synthesis is a total overhaul that greatly changes those things
Thanks
Launched one more... (productive weekend) :P
https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1643
Nice. Another one for me to download π
Anyone know any mods that can give me that one world that has bioluminecent plants in the trailers, or something similar?
Like this
Currently I'm not sure
Should https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1606?tab=description make s-class Freighter modules worth 10M nanites, or is that a bug and its supposed to be units?
I am thinking of putting together a little mod that does some small things. Would AMUMSS be the tool to do the folowing:
Adjust the quantity of reosurces gathered from certain mineral nodes, or how long an exocraft mining beam lasts on a full charge, or the top speed of the roamer, how long the boost on a roamer can fire, etc and so on
Come to think of it, I'd like to boost the storage of the autonomous miner too
and maybe it's fuel rate of burn
@limpid summit I just pinged the author
Should https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1606?tab=description make s-class Freighter modules worth 10M nanites, or is that a bug and its supposed to be units?
@limpid summit that's supposed to be units, is it nanites?
Fixed, now its return to around 1000 nanites for C and 10000 for S nanites, while buying price are 10x more expensive for the S
@vocal jewel How do I add other mods with the "FANTASY SYNTHESIS?"
Is there no way to uses save editor on xbox game pass?
@lime mesa if you have any problems with animals not spawning I would suggest using this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1573 it does not change how creatures look just how they spawn and is really awesome.
This mod doesnt 'fuck up' and wont ever break your save.
but fair enough, I've never had a problem; but I edit my own mods.
@tacit tide Try GBase. If it doesn't work, let me know
@vale iron Still a no-go. I used to be able to drop a landing pad like a roof over a room, and clip through the bottom to add features on to the pad; but now I get "invalid position" when I try.
Not sure if that counts as modding, but does NMS work with ReShade?
A program (or just some libraries) that do real-time image processing to get some effects on what's displayed
Like color saturation, sharpening, other filters
I got it recently on Fallout 4 and I'm really enjoying it
it kinda came back as a revised edition that worked on vulkan but it was very experimental
@lime mesa In my experience recent ReShade versions work very well with Vulkan. I regularly run NMS on my 3D monitor using the SuperDepth3D shader. Important!: recent ReShade versions disable the depth buffer during multiplayer games, so if you want to use depth-based shaders you'll need to find an unofficial download that enables it (or recompile the code with the necessary 1-line tweak yourself).
@smoky wing Thanks for the detailed feedback but that's just too much for me
If it involves more than copy-pasting some files then it's beyond me
yeah, same here, even though i don't use ReShade itself (but vkBasalt, post processing layer/shader injection available on Linux) and the game itself runs pretty much great considering my rapidly aging machine, i'm able to use ReShade filters/textures as well, and it works fine. iirc, there's a section on nexusmods nms dedicated to reshade filter presets.
old reshade footage looks like desolation update haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVB32zOPpJw
Running around a little testing out ReShade+RT (McFlyPG)
Interiors, buildings and ships look especially nice with the light bouncing up on them
If you want to try out the alpha-build for raytracing with ReShade, check out McFlyPG's Patreon:

@lime mesa @round sinew Most shaders like sharpening or color tweaks will work fine. Only a few depth-based effects need the special version, and only during multiplayer. Vulkan installation is the same as any OpenGL/DirectX game, plus one extra step: you need to have the installer running while you play, or just click a checkmark which automatically enables ReShade in all your Vulkan games.
ReShade doesn't have a Linux build afaik
i use vkBasalt, which also does work fine. i don't need to install anything other than vkbasalt itself, a config file for it with the filters i want to use, and enable it in steam's game launch options
Ahh, that's cool.
π
thanks for explaining though, sometimes there's people asking about how to reshade on windows which i'm not really knowledgeable on
tracking down this sort of info via googling didn't help much last i tried, maybe my search terms weren't hitting the spot
ReShade doesn't have a Linux build afaik
@round sinew Oh wow! Do you play on Linux? I can barely 'sudo'
@hushed bronze just realized nautilon lights work fine :) no player torch needed
is there a mod that let's the minotaur scan for lost tech
Is it possible to use a save editor on the windows version?
nope
Parallel Universe got updated π
Looks pretty interesting
anyone have experience with it?
anyone have experience with it?
@vocal jewel pretty good, aside of it sometime breaks stuff, it also even alter whatever universe already generated.
Any faster plant timers for Desolation yet?
@limpid summit ill make one probably, once i have the good idea for the files, not just one changes
realistic gardening? idk
Is anyone else experiencing and issue with GCUIGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN and MBINCompiler? I'm getting a GUID mismatch. It looks like it was updated in MBINCompiler recently and I don't know why my GUID isn't matching what it expects. I think I'm fully updated.
Backed out to MBINCompiler v2.61.1.1 and things work again
How do I extract PAC files?
NVM.
So, I just need to convert the old MBINs to EXML using the version of MBIN Compiler they were built with, convert them back to MBIN using the latest version of MBIN Compiler, then repac them?
@subtle portal Hi, MBINCompiler is always being updated to the latest 'experimental' version. If you are still on the 'Public' version of NMS, then you need to stay on the previous MBINCompiler version, like you did.
@fringe sail AMUMSS can do all that for you, you just put the pak file in ModScript and it will find the right version of MBINCompiler and un-pak/de-compile to a new folder in the UNPACKED_DECOMPILED_PAKs folder...
You can then examine the EXMLs files. If they are too old, they may not be capable of re-compiling with the latest MBINCompiler and may not be compatible with NMS latest version. You may however find the differences and apply them to new EXML files... Help can be reached in https://discord.com/channels/215514623384748034/215569912121262080
Note: AMUMSS is on Nexus at https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/957
@weary ruin Since you're talking AMUMSS, that's what I'm using. The docs say it will fall back to previous MBINCompilers, but it doesn't seem to be doing that for me
it will do that if you only put pak(s) in Modscript without any lua script
Otherwise it tries to use the latest version of MBINCompiler
because it needs to create a mod pak that is current
You can force it to not update MBINCompiler if you activate xOPT_CustomMBINCompiler.txt (remove the 'x') and put the MBINCompiler version you want in MODBUILDER folder: you can find all versions here https://github.com/monkeyman192/MBINCompiler/releases
Do not forget to inactivate that 'xOPT_CustomMBINCompiler.txt' file again when you want to go back to the latest MBINCompiler version
Ok, that's the method I used. Thanks.
I realize it is not at all intuitive as it currently is, I will make it so that the user is at least asked if he wants to update when a new version of MBINCompiler comes along...
Oh, are you the maintainer for AMUMSS?
yes
I'm a fan of your work π

You have made my day.
You all should get ready for some changes, hopefully, int he GUI soon. They just hired a new dev for the UI
just because they had a new hire for UI dev doesnt immediately mean there will be some overhaul, she could be working on new features
keep hype in check
or different games
Anyone knows if the Moar Ships mod still works for the Desolation Update?
Does anyone have a list of a good set of mods that improve the overall visual experience of this game? Especially making it darker, remove some of the lightning (too bright in many places) and add better colors
Anyone knows if the Moar Ships mod still works for the Desolation Update?
@royal knot if you mean the custom ship models, nope
what shader/graphics mods DOES work with desolation?
