Following the visuals of numerous artistic styles - alongside a multi-build hybrid of NMS - with every other aspect of the base game fleshed out
So, rather than saying... "Hey, there are only x amount of biomes, and once you see them all that's pretty much it..." It will be... 'every atom procedural, every leaf procedural, every bird procedural, every fish procedural, every rock procedural, every ocean procedural, every cloud procedural, every ruin procedural, every star procedural, every sun procedural, every galaxy procedural, every planet procedural... and every planet truly unique and unexplored'.
That is one aspect of the fan project, there's a lot of other things involved in it
And things that I am choosing not to talk about; until it's full release
^ But if you've seen any of the older versions of the fan project, like all of these outdated screenshots
The MultiVerse is going to make all of that look insignificant and inferior.
Not only that, but the software that I am developing will be able to dynamically rebuild my entire fan project in a unique way upon each iteration.
So, expect infinite 'Overhauls' 😛

It sounds like they are no longer really 'that interested' in expanding variety, but the multiplayer aspect of the game.
yeah for him, exploration isn't entertaining of an idea to maintain

The thing is... it once was. It was the core pillar and epitome of what No Man's Sky was to be. To the point that they said (paraphrasing here)... "It is not these other things, it is exploration based".
tbh the multiplayer stuff feels like 20% of the game
rest 40% on vr and the other 40% on the new features and optimizations
it's still possible they expand on the exploration stuff later
Check out the great artistic emphasis given to stylish environments in those images (in that filtered google search)
There were also multibiomish aspects to the game, but it gets a lot more involved than what is easily noticeable, and on the surface

One pre-release biome (including some that are in the files) has more variety than every biome set to get loaded of every officially released version of No Man's Sky combined.
And they are literally less taxing than the current biomes that we have
This game engine (even after all of it's updates) is using like 2% of it's potential
But then again, this game in itself has pretty much infinite potential

And fortunately, it's flexible

But oddly, things are taking a turn less in the direction of the original style - but hopefully, they still continue to expand variety; but I don't think that you can make someone passionate about something that they are not

There is a reference to planets being affected by distance to the sun, there was also physical rotation at that time and orbital mechanics (that orbital data is still present in the files)
However, those things were talked about quite a lot
yeah and I'm personally ok with removing the orbital mechanics, it's a pain to circle out of the planet to go to the space station

The old NMS wiki (containing pre-release info) before that information was taken off of it, described evolution of creatures and planets and details of erosion
this might have not been literal, considering they were really bad with communication back then (and even now to an extent)
I don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but, they have right to take the game in whatever direction they wish, I am inspired by all that potential (that they already are aware of), and I'm setting out to realize it.

But the creatures and flora currently pick from a pool of 3D modeled parts with other things involved

including min - max values

So, if you have 20 identical presets...
And say...

It will pick a value between that range
So, there still is variety

Actually, let me correct my statement
Those were all (different various of one biome) - but (I turned off 95% of the algorithms that I coded), because I am not done testing with other stuff
But those were a few 'reduced' dynamic environments of one biome type

The palettes are intelligent as well

Maybe I can update it. I stopped using it, because I preferred to work with the glsl shaders (prior to the Vulkan switch)
As you can do a lot more via working with the visuals internally, than just laying effects on top of it

A guide on how to extract missing DDS textures from NMS if they dont import properly into blender. If you cant afford photoshop or dont pirate software. Follow this simple guide
Step 1 : Install all programs listed below
Paint.Net (https://www.getpaint.net/) Free Open source photo editing software
Paint.Net DDS Addon (https://github.com/dtzxporter/FileTypeDDS) Allowed Modifation & editing of NMS DDS files
SageThumbs (https://sourceforge.net/projects/sagethumbs/) Able to preview weird custom photo formats
Step 2 : Once installed go to paint.net directory and install the DDS Filetype.
Step 3 : Reboot your computer to make sure everything is properly installed
Step 4 : Once logged back onto your pc open Paint.net
Step 5 : Go to File > Open > Pick your intended DDS Files or Press Ctrl + O > Pick your intended DDS Files.
Step 6 : Edit files if need be
Step 7 : File > Save As > Select File type output > Save or Ctrl + Shift + S > Select File type output > Save

@fluid wing if you take the mod out, does the night brightness change? If so, the mod is working, just might not be the brightness you want, but I thought you said that version was just about right for you. Are you on a different planet? Are you under a cloud? Cloud shadow can make it really dark.

Yeah my cpu just hangs out at 3.2 without even a load, close to 3.5 if I actually poke it a little with a game or something. Then with 14 Hyperthreaded cores it just kills eveything exept the most single-thread-optimized stuff where high clock chips edge it out slightly 😄

I know this isn't exactly a modding question, but I figured this group might be the logical place for my question. I've put together a spreadsheet for recording system and planetary data, but some of the data ranges are pre-beyond, and I'm having some trouble tracking down the current info. Among the data recorded, I include a section on the sentinel levels (Aggressive, Ever Present, High Security, etc.), but a number of those values have changed in the latest version. I unpacked the game files in the hopes of finding that info myself, but I can't seem to track it down. Does anyone have that info that I can use, or can point me in the right direction for finding it?

the game loads in the meanwhile, but pauses because it's not the active window
It resumes and puts you in the tail end of the loading animation
i mainly want it so i can back out if the spawn is trash
instead of sitting through the whole initialization haha
@upbeat quiver Well even if you backed out that way you would still go to main menu. You would still have to reload through the whole scenic star thing.. You would gewt to another reboot almost just as fast if you alt+F4 the game

if i alt f4 it takes around 52 to get in game

in any case the odds of that mod being possible are slim to none
i mean i wouldn't have to keep backing out of game which is bad for what i'm doing

Its weird to me how few people seem to have really noticed that so many legacy assets made a renewed appearance in Beyond
Tbh I had noticed some of those in my surveys in Next, but it was so infrequent as to be kind of hrrm
And a lot of them just blurred into the background because they used the current color palettes vs. their previous ones

Thankfully I managed to finish the main quest and develop my upgrades a long way through before touching any mod. So it doesn't feel like cheating now
I think there was a mod that removed costs for growing trays or something but I can't for the life of me remember it... it just kept everything at full (although pressing E sometimes always selected to refill it rather than harvest...)

It prevents Collision based invalid positions but there are plenty of cases that overrule that, like base-edge limits

my mod easily allows you to go way beyond what anybody considered in designing the parts

Some parts are finicky in weird edge cases but you dont seem to be able to intersect anything, which means the mod isnt running at all

Just give him a mod that has stock copies of the majority of files and has underscores in the name so it just neutralizes all the other mods

Not sure, but I think what you might have done is change the weight of a certain part of a seed to be a certain ship type, or the weight of a certain ship type to use a certain section of seed. (Same thing)

For Blazing Skies, I have two paks, 130 and 170. Do I use one or the other, or both?
@ocean ruin if it still works the same as when I made my MorExotics mod, you increased the likelihood of generating a S-Class ship.. Also, when you increase a value on something that may be of balance like this, you should adjust the other values accordingly.. ie: if you change Royal from 1 to 100, you should lower Dropship and Shuttle to 50 each.. then the system relating to that node should generate twice as many S-Class ships as Hauler, Fighter, Explorer or Shuttle..
this will likely result in non-vanilla seeds being generated for these systems.. so if you share the coordinates with a non-modding player, they likely won't find the same ships
Inversely, you'd need to uninstall the mod to find the ships seeded to vanilla expectations.
Any ship acquired during the mod's installation/usage will stay seeded the way it was acquired with the mod installed..

Yeah jason's are all color mods, its very unlikely that they break and CTD you
^ globals or metadata are most likely causes of CTD
If you want I can PM you the list of mods I have, and you can tell me if any of them seem bad
I can screenshot and you can suggest or something, I dunno
you could try to extract all of your mod .paks into respective folders for each .pak.. then try to copy the contents and paste them in a common folder to build the file tree the game would be using.. if you're prompted to overwrite any existing files, you just found a conflict.. if you can manage to copy all the contents of every .pak into one common folder, then you don't a conflict..
or he could show us a list 😄

so mod1.pak, mod2.pak and mod3.pak would be extracted to mod1 folder, mod2 folder and mod3 folder (respectively).. then copy the contents of each and put them in a common folder "modfiles"..
so you'd have modfiles\MODELS, modfiles\METADATA, modfiles\TEXTURES, modfiles\(global.mbins)

if it's only one mod that's causing an issue, then the mod is the issue itself.. a conflict would be resolved by removing either of the two conflicting mods..
errr that is to say if there's only one mod that fixes it once removed.. then the issue is likely with the mod itself and less of a conflict with other mods
I wouldn't think a fix to the landing pad would cause a CTD during loading.. and doubtful the trading post is getting processed during the load, unless it's saved at a space/trade station.. could be slot overhaul.. game tries to generate your ship and throws an exception due to the mod

I'd recommend removing ALL mods and confirming you're actually able to get to the "E" initialize screen.. then test as you add mods in.. reinstalling mods just because it still crashed after removing one doesn't mean that mod was safe..
if you have multiple mods that are causing issues, you'll be uninstalling and reinstalling till the cows come home and you still likely won't find the problems..
but if you start with a fresh platform, and only add to it, soon as it fails, you know you've found a potential culprit..

Pretty sure it's the trading post overhaul.
even if you add several at a time, you'll at least know something within that several caused an issue and you can repeat the process to narrow in on the problematic mod

Oh i was just wondering because i followed the instructions to downgrade a copy of NMS to foundations but everytime i try to launch it steam starts updating it and there is no option to turn off updates, i cant figure out how to launch it without steam wanting to update it

I know for another pirated program i did in the past there was a file that made it ignore the steam check and it loaded
@prime jasper check no man's sky properties, make sure you have auto-updates turned off (basically set to only update when game is launched), then use steam in offline mode..
that's how I'm still playing on NEXT.. just got to be careful I don't accidentally load NMS in online Steam after playing something else..

How do you check and correct mod conflicts?
What i do when checking if my mods work or not is while im installing new ones i launch the game with just the new one installed. Then with the new one and 1/2 of my current mods. and then again with everything so see if it all works. If there are any conflicts along the way then i scale down.
