@ashen brook Not yet sorry, spent 4 days and 8 hours porting over my custom Inventory Hybrid to NEXT.... and then another 10 hours straight making a mini "UI" editor via executable memory code; in order properly align the custom inventory contents that I added on the screen. I'll likely be doing a different take, but atm, I'm porting my custom assets to NEXT as I have a lot of stuff to do - but I'll get around to it.

I've heard about the ship customization content discovered.. but has anyone talked about ship interiors yet? new COMMONPARTS folder in MODELS\COMMON\SPACECRAFT that has "SHIPINTERIORS" folder and parts for the inside of ships? This all being separate from "HANGARPARTS".. and Frigates have their own interior parts in the FRIGATE folder.. so does this mean HG might allow us to walk around in our ships someday?

I just got shit on. I tried warping with a friend, and i went through my freighter and died. My multitool got damaged and changed colour. I made it a point to keep my suit, ship and mutitool the same colour but that dream is now destroyed
is there a mod that will change my multitool colour back?

what am i missing with my mod, i am trying to strip out the overly agressive suit voice from "warning" me about something every 10 seconds. I can unpack the sound pak rip out the sound files i dont want and repak it and drop directly into pcbanks but if i pak it and drop in in mods the sound still plays
sorry it works fine if i drop it directly into pcbank and replace the default pak
but if i place it in mods the sounds still play
looks like if its not present in the mods/pak it still fails back to the default pak file
do i have to replace the sound im trying to avoid with an empty sound file?

Hello so i am trying to start using some spefic graphical tweeks for no mans sky installed NMM and it says i need a folder in pcbanks?

@lime mesa i recommend any that increase the draw distance of asteroids, floodlights, Crescent Worlds, Less intrusive rings, Fast Actions, No blinding lights
i use more than that, but those are nice ones
and Dark Space.. but id wait until you get used to space first, see if you'd even want it
i also use a 2x stack size, i LOVE it. it makes things so much less tedious, but id wait to get that too if you like it

@dreamy tulip would it be possible to update your atmospheric fog as a seperate mod? Also, would you consider making a 50% version of the Vintage Filter replacer? I feel it would emulate the Pre-Release look much better, the modern vintage is very heavy.
Yeah, I'd love a mod that just added the pallettes from vanilla back without altering the terrain generation itself. (if that's possible). Though it's important that the colours still feel cohesive, something which a lot of mods forgo for the sake of variety.
What I was also thinking of was a kind of rotating palette
so the differences in colors still persist, but the general hue of the palette is shifted by a random amount
Where would be a good place to grab some mods for NMS? I'm mainly looking for something to increase the draw distance of asteroids and such, and maybe something to make space more black?

Simple a freighter has 13 stories, make it to where you can have large open vertical corridors
also we can't really make a non-buildable location buildable cos we haven't found the trigger for it yet

That's cause there's no really competitive player based activity in NMS, weekly events could qualify but it would have to be something that a save editor or mods couldn't effect (like an infinite jetpack mod vs a stock player would be on equal playing fields)

@echo oxide The models would have to be recreated for NMS to avoid doing anything seriously illegal like asset ripping, but since player models are a fixed combo of parts and ships have been modded in wholesale, it's almost certainly doable.

Colors are Alpha Vector/PS4, not Horizon Omega/PC
I used an editor to make the large fighter look like one of the small fighters because the ring ship is cooler.

its just that everything reloads when you arent that far away, like doors, platforms, plants, objects inside
not really the buildings themselves
but the additions to them
so if i go more than 100 feet away i hear all my plants repopping as i move back closer
and ill see my doors, windows, ramps, base accessories etc all respawn

i've been missing the old flora density mods, can't wait to see what you come up with
I do like biome mods. However, there's a certain quality and conistency that it must meet for me to consider using it.
Also, with NEXT the bar is raised higher.
When I began to work on the 'reboot' to my already existing fan project a month before NEXT released, I had set this standard and general rule for myself as a priority that I'm not willing to bend: Every planet, every moment in-game must look/feel like a concept art.
Now that NEXT released, and it's absolutely gorgeous...
I'm setting the bar higher for myself.
So, that will still be the general rule (and to keep vanilla content and stuff possible and as a thing) - But to make it even prettier than it already is... alongside creating a new game inside of an existing game - whereas it'll feel more like an addition to the game rather than a mod (while also being a multi-build hybrid), non-saturated, and mostly subtle... but at times not subtle at all.
Alongside a lot of new features and content and creative ideas being fleshed out and implemented as I continue to work on developing the newer build

it can get a little wonky at times when you're flying, but thats on the player controlling the camera, not the mod
well, you can get disoriented easily if you constantly turn the camera trying to follow ships

What I do is flash the camera quickly and release to turn rapidly. I know what you mean by wonky camera controls though.
I really hope either the mod author takes it and runs with it or other mod authors take some of the camera tweaks into their own mods.
i think its rly nice as it is, however other mods could use it integrated as well
i dont think it needs to be tweaked
you just need to get used to the extended view, and when not to keep looking in that direction

all i want is a flight mod that improves control, especially with boost. i dont mind the odd other feature

Why does everyone buff pulsedrive speed but not regular old Shift key boost speed?
Shift boost is so minor on everything
i dont like hover, reverse (in atmosphere), and the auto stop in rayrods makes it look buggy imo
'boost speed (shift) is so slow
Hover is very useful when attacking walkers
i can deal with hover, i just like the slow mvoe speed requiring you to circle

Mods, from what we can tell, are client sided. Meaning the mod only affects you. For example, if you have a spaceship mod that makes your ship go faster, you will go faster and your friend. will see you go faster. If you have a terrain mod that changes the ground level, you will see the modded terrain but your friend will just see you walking in air or under the planet because the friend doesn't have the same terrrain. Tests are constantly happening to figure the situation out better though.
Some mods will change a save file, most won't. That is very mod specific.
So are some mods not allowed by the developers? Or do they not really care?
I'm not really interested in anything that changes too much of the base game, but I know some developers are really against mods that do much more than change colors
With No Man's Sky, unnoficial mods are supported by the developers. Sean mentioned pre-release that they wanted mods to be a thing (simillar to Minecraft). At times, they've done support for people having issues with mods (via Steam), and they created a tutorial (advising people on how to install them) within a text document that comes with each PC NMS installation. They have also retweeted and have liked modded fan work, and it was even in WT data at one point. Including, on NEXT (it was as if intentional things have been done to their code to make modding more convenient. Especially, by naming what were previously unknown functions... which would take a lot of time to do.

No i didnt make the mod or anything, its a mod called CCs improved clouds i think. He tried to redo the clouds, and adjusted atmosphere height yes
the adjusted atmosphere height eliminates having to deal with the visible fog circle around your character, and the pixelated nonsense that is the vanilla upper atmosphere clouds
but the other clouds dont really look any different to me, but the mod claims it renders them differently but i just dont really see it
your clouds look so damn good though, i just hope theres a way to do that kind of detail for the upper atmosphere too eventually

I spent the day making various adjustments to clouds through real-time hacking. There's no more blurry clouds or clouds stretching out into space. There are also various other quality of life improvements to the clouds and the environment (to make the game look more aesthetically pleasing) and more like the official No Man's Sky NEXT trailer clouds.
This mod is not compatible with other mods that change these files:
- PIPELINEDEFERRED.BIN
- CLOUDNEWFRAGMENT.SHADER.H.BIN
- GCENVIRONMENTGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN
In regard to performance, I have done a lot of testing to ensure the best quality and performance that I can provide. I have a high-end rig and have only noticed a drop of 1 frame. By all means... feel free to try it yourself! :)

then that was one of best mod managers i seen for any moddable game, because it just wasn't covering container files collision but also the files inside
and ontop of that also was able analyze the content of scripts and configs plus load order and all related collisions inbetween all this
as result, when used properly you could figure out any issues with mods and create collision free content easily (or combine / fix what's needed)
don't ask me why it's still not industry standard in games whose support modding (i fight for it in our studio 10 years ๐ )

I repaired/finished all unused model assets by HelloGames
All assets in my upcoming fan project update for NEXT will have proper colissions and relevant mining healths in relation to their size

ye @tame hawk but those are very limited, any collisions (similar like NMS has) just gets way worse (because of the various configs+binarized vs not then scripting and classes overrides)

One of my mods overrides a lot of vanilla classes and I got reports of the antistasi mod/mission not working with it, which is impossible for me to fix, because of how they did some things. It may not always be perfect for the end-user piling up mods in his launcher, but all the possibilities are great for modding the game in general. It's hard to make complex systems that have both, flexibility and usability ๐
But who am I to tell you, you are the wizard here

Uh, not sure about specific ship classes. Many mods change base handling.

This is weird... lo2k's HD clouds mod isn't as crisp/clean looking, but it doesn't drop my FPS into the ground. In fact, there's almost no impact in 2k. Rayrod's clouds on performance mode halve my framerate... on the ground.

Fitz's pack is quite nice
it's very balanced, not cheaty
that said I'm using Meki's flight mod and a different exocraft mod - Meki makes it possible to ram into the ground and fly under it, which is a bit silly, but the positives when it works are great
and SSOOR for me (Spaceship out of range+scanner buffs mod), set to 3 second scan and 500u spaceship teleport

Name : DS96_GalacticMap2
What it does : slows down the galactic camera globally, life chance and abandonned life chances has been raised up a little bit, more asteroid per solar systems, normal solar system size shrinked to 250.000u (two-hundred thousands U), asteroids will now spawn closer to space stations, planets and other mysterious things, asteroids have more hitpoints (they are harder to destroy), large asteroids will now appear bigger, there is less space between asteroids, minimum water height lowered, maximum water height increased, improvements on multiplayer (faster sync, longer timeouts, etc.), freighters radius decreased (their range).

There's no more blur or shimmering, they are a higher quality, they are slowed down (but not too slow, you can see them subtly move). I looked outside my house yesterday, and saw the clouds moving to get a good perspective of what value to change it too.
It should be less taxing. They are less opaque, less sharp, no visible banding afaik, and they look closer to the trailer.
Will soon do a before and after comparison (and I will be uploading the newer/improved clouds soon)

I think I'm gunna hold off on that.. reviving CrashSiteFinder with a bit of homage to the original CrashSiteFinder back in NMS Release and Foundation.. Adding more beacons to that and it'll be ready to release once I can confirm it works for Fourth Race Grave markers..
my favorite is drive by light tho.. spotlight fixed in the mining/cannon turret..
oh, and also revived MorExotics and CSS (with a new flavor for NEXT).. amazing how many people voice against cheaty mods, but they're the most popular downloads.. xD
and now I'm about to start a mod to fix the engine trails on the Exotic VTOL engines... this is Vanilla..
and I've got a bunch more on the todo list.. like revive the oblivion sentinel drone that rayrod had in his overhaul.. and hopefully some of my Lore ships from the MorShips mod.. or as best as possible with only vanilla asset access..

It's set when the thing is put down and saved directly to the teleportendpoints list
Different than the placement of the base object, which is in persistantbases list
It WOULD be a good way of finding out whether freighter interiors are a separate 'cell' or literally in the correct space relative to planets etc
It's relaticlve to the freighter
If the freighter entry gate sneakily 'teleports' you to a different space, which is constant, then the base terminal would be a consistent tp location
if not, then you get teleported into space and die

Wait, so... @WinderTP#7241 if I were to, say, get a mod that makes the Exocraft deployment range ~4000u from an exocraft pad (for reference, calling freighter places it 3300u above the surface of a world), and I used the base setting to place exobays in my freighter...
Would it, in theory, allow me to airdrop my exocraft at any point simply by summoning my freighter?
