These crashes are newly introduced, as all former ones from the v10 have been fixed (but I made recent changes). I will get them sorted. They are new issues.
That will be my priority tomorrow, and whatever else may follow.
None of the v10 mods are compatible or needed.
I wrote this before:
Any "black or dark space mods" will not be compatible, or even needed. Some systems can be vanilla, darker than vanilla, replications of E3, IGN early 2016 footage, some other one's that I handcrafted, and also several variants of blackish type space with various details with the overhaul mod. This was not done with shaders.
So we also have all kinds of space dynamically. Never know what you might warp into.

When I play no Man Sky without mod i will get 20 fps on a planet with tress but if I am on his mod with tress I get 40 fps

Although it didn't the 2nd to last time but did crash when I entered an atmosphere of the system I landed in.

Ah it wasn't saved in that system at all, I was jumping to a Contact near me. But if I happen to make it down there an save, then crash I'll report it

@wary hazel I made diplos still, like the trailers... due to an unfinished walking animation on HelloGame's part.
Also, if anyone happens to crash while entering or exiting a planet, while being saved in that system, following the tutorial that @fickle torrent reposted is the best way that to help.
This way, I can load your save and find out what the issue is directly (rather than sifting through all of these biomes) 1 by 1 to find a single crash and it saves me a lot of time.
It speeds up the process.
I will also update the .txt document.

I found the cause of those weird objects, it was a recent change that I did. Which had some issues.
Right before release, I altered a lot of things roughly... to try to crank things up a bit. However, I realized that a few of those changes had typos in them lol

And when I'm typing, it gets delayed. Ironically, it's been the nightmare of most of all CTD's that I've had to fix lol

Rayrod, sadly couldn't launch the overhaul when creating a new survival save game, only worked for the normal mode. it'd load, get to the initialize screen, i'd hold E and then it'd get 1 frame through the fade out from the white screen before not responding
i mean not a problem as i'll just play it through with normal mode
but just a heads up in case it happens for others
@fickle torrent Try loading again. It will load a different planet. Right now, there are various problematic planets due to recent changes.

It's quite tedious to find all these "unknown issues" alone.

Hey Rayrod i found a bug where a creature is in the air
It kind of funny to see a non flying creature up in the air
Also, you werent kidding about that optimization
My friend who has a gtx 1060ti with an i5 went from getting 50-60fps on high to around 80-100fps

Same here I was getting 25 fps without any mods now I am at 35 fps
My computer is quite old
Amd Fx 4100 8 gb of ram ddr3 and a rx 460 strix

That's great to here, I'm glad that it's improved for you both. I've heard similar elsewhere. I am still working on fixes and making a lot of progress.
I dont know if you got this report yet, @dreamy tulip , but I just got into my ship. When I took off, I started getting 1 frame every 2 seconds. I landed my ship, and during the times such as the landing sequence, the FPS goes up to 40 again. Got back out of my ship and the FPS went down again to 0.5fps. So something about getting into the ship and taking off started it.
So any time I had no control over my player, the fps was normal after that. A reboot of NMS fixes it.

Also. Didn't get a screenshot because I'm stupid and Alt+F4'd instead of Alt+Tabbing, but sometimes grass, while waving in the wind, will stretch into the sky about 20 or so feet and undulate.
I assume it may be for the same reason that object containers sometimes spawn malformed in the base game..?

Question real quick, when you fix a crash problem and upload an update, does that go alongside the mod like normal?
It will be a part of the core mod, if it's a significant amount of files changed

@frank cove It's not a bug, but it's sort of a hardcoded limitation to my knowledge. In regard to being able to have the planet name on the top left HUD.
I will see if I can workaround this today, or make the planet name optional in exchange for the bottom left. Also, E3 didn't have it but you can see info with the Visor.
However, I would really like to fix this. So, I'll focus on that soon.

@dreamy tulip I've always had this bug with any version and still have it. But with the boltcaster crossair it is always just a random texture in the game. Loving the Immersion update though, thanks for all your hard work ๐
@dreamy tulip Found a crashed ship with no pulse engine installed, messages keep saying to refuel launch thrusters even though they are fully fueled. Amazing update anyway man ! ๐

This one took several hours to find the cause, but I just fixed an ecology related crash.
@fickle torrent when you "steal" a grav orb or vortex cube on a planet's surface, it triggers a wanted level.. you triggered those sentinels by collecting the grav orb
that's actually been typical behavior from day one..
@cyan oracle was more the sentinel that gave up on being real later in the clip
ah, yea, you killed it, but it didn't switch to the dead model and spawn a container :\

It's the highest setting, but it depends on prefernece
DeadEndThrills uses the FXAA by choice, I guess because it's a bit more sharper

As far as I know, just on planets, but it might on space stations. But it's only in photomode, outside there is none like normal
Fixed another crash, and also made a new scorched forest
The trees are procedural, and can be different each time like the other forests
I also allowed some custom assets to spawn that I made out of vanilla assets
Lots of other fixes and improvements that I've done so far in the past 16 hours straight of working on the next version.

More Bug Reports means the quicker the process of polishing things up to a fully stable build will be. In a way, we're all contributing to each other as it's a lot of work on my part. I'm around 10,000 hours into this project thus far, and a simple change can affect anything anywhere in the universe. However, the last of issues are nearly fully ironed out.
It would be appreciated if bugs would be reported directly to me, rather than complained about.
Within the pins, and on the disclaimer this is stated: *Please note - This is an unstable build for testing and bug reporting.*
Therefore, bugs are to be expected and it's a given. But feel free to ping me if you encounter something. This way, I can hunt down the cause of these issues and fix them all.
I will also have another test build up soon. I've spent 19 hours today working on a newer test build with various fixes and improvements.

Redundant ship cards are now finally removed.

So that it should be better scaled, like it used to be.
By the by, is it normal that (after you purchase a ship) the pulsedrive and launchthruster is empty?
Yes I think so because whenever I buy a ship on unmodded no Man Sky both the pulsedrive and launch thrusters are empty

Working on the HUD again
Going to see if I can resurrect the bottom left hazard bar.
While still keeping the planet name on the top left.
It was considered a hardcoded limitation, but I've managed to duplicate the HUD
So, I'm going to try a few things.
Worst case scenario, I'll create an optional file that re-adds the hazard bar and removes the planet name on the top left. That is if I don't manage a solution.

when it says field of view in my menu, is that degrees? it certainly doesn't feel like 100 degrees, feels like 70
is there a mod that changes it?
in fact when i go into the camera mode in raryod's overhaul (i don't know if the camera is a default option or part of his mod) i can change the fov and it starts at 75 (which is normal) and 90 degrees genuinely looks like 90 degrees and it's so nice
So, it's been a plan of mine for awhile now. My friend Stoian who's an artist made a few textures for me to test, that I'm still getting around to... but I'm going to add more grass to the game.
The overhaul mod already has a lot of grass added.

Using Cheat Engine I was able to make teeny planets and get the Atlas Station to crash

But then again, you use ReShade right?
So, in that case, cheat engine might be the solution for you due to the opengl hook and ReShade not being compatible

it tracks your location
And you can teleport back whenever
And other people's locations are also tracked and show up

@dreamy tulip When you're back around, I sent you some PM's yesterday wondering if you were still around. I generated a wonderously interesting, though radioactive landscape yesterday, and whilst wandering about it I'd eventually crash. I have no idea what object loading in is causing it, but it should be a specific object loading in again that's doing it. Regardless its a great biome and I'd love to be able to run through it psychotically lasering half the landscape, so I was wondering if you were still active and if you'd like the save file to see if you can reproduce and patch that crash. Considering how many biomes you've been adding, I imagine the debugging might take a while. ๐

I guess the Atlas bugged for me because it kept saying it was 386k light years away. Although I was messing with the No Man's Connect a lot so I guess it could have done somethin to it, but I was able to restart missions for the base and stuff but it wouldn't let me restart the Atlas quests..
So I just started a new game lol. Not a big deal really but careful if you use that guys, it might bug up or somethin
Well, it looks like I just fixed the major cause of almost all crashes
Alongside numerous other crashes in the past 3 days
And other issues
Sadly, prior to the first launch of the mod... I made a ton of changes (that had a negative result). I should've kept it as it was. It introduced new issues.
After recent fixes, at-least on my end, I just rebooted the game about 10x with no crash
Still testing more and still working on fixing all other reported issues via NexusMods, Twitter, Discord, dm's, and Facebook
Alongside working on various other things, improvements, and some new features
So that I can get the more stable version uploaded ASAP
Oof. Never fun when a bunch of changes do that. =/
Yeah. These are also all dynamic crashes, so they are more tedious to hunt down.

How come you don't wait till NEXT
and then update your mod
Because after next your mod will break
And will take you twice the workload to update it again
That's not entirely true
Getting the foundations down now allows one to then just add in the new structs introduced
And I mean, that kind of logic would basically have us putting off mods until they just release the final update.
Working on this project is an enjoyement, a learning experience, and a hobby for me
Although I am excited for NEXT, I honestly could care less if it breaks or not
My focus is this: "I am creating a custom build" of my own style, and it doesn't depend on whether a hundred updates are released or not
In the same way that the pre-release builds are iconic in their own way
I'll gladly update it, in the areas needed for NEXT. It's a non-important matter to me
I do more work in a day, than it would take me to update the mod anyway lol
Therefore, contrary to what a lot of people are doing... a major update won't hinder a great learning experience for me (of the files and also learning different languages and applying it to the game), my curiosity of the game internally, desire to work with the game, and research.
It seems that I fixed another major cause of crashes
@supple wadi , having "AllowLimiting" set to "False" caused crashes within the biomefilenames
When I had a lot of things going on
But when I set it to true, no CTD upon loading that slot

My suspicion is that it's telling the game to restrict the loading of it from one file at a time.
Like say, an individual biome has certain object files loading in the dead, low, mid, or full slots... that if in the biomefilenames... maybe the allowlimiting tells it to only spawn from there.
However, objectfiles also have RuntimeCacheAllowLimiting
anything you consider remotely big, should have that at false
anything small should be true
Hmm. I think many of those I've seen are default true, but would have to review

Even two years ago, going planet to planet was seemless. Which was impressive. If they can do that with a Star Wars game? OOoh man.

An NMS is muuuch better now. Not saying for them to rush it, but being able to explore an entire SW Galaxy would be amazing.

This time it was a few indirect "Name" paths for about 11 custom creature models.
I forgot to add them in
So, whenever the game would try to load one of my ecology tables that would load one of those creatures (dynamically) it would CTD
Even on starter planets
If I head to explore around the Galactic Hub, will the mod make it so I can't see them since they might not have the overhaul? and if i head there using Creative will it effect it?

So, I just made every modified model asset in my mod buildable for testing.
I found a lot of problematic models, that cause CTD's
So, these were also likely spawning (all over in-game) on different planets
And crashing people
So, I'm checking each model asset 1 by 1 and fixing the problematic ones
This could explain another cause of dynamic crashes
Turns out to be material related issues. I had some incorrect texture paths.
Fixed various flora that had a red square texture around it

Something that I wrote the other day for someone:
``The Overhaul mod is not intended to make gameplay easier. It is actually intended to make gameplay more challenging but a tad less redundant (and there are numerous aspects to it that already does) on all modes, except Creative mode. However, I am still in the process of balancing out the resources, and other things that make the game feel too "cheaty". Some things have been altered to prevent getting trapped within the game's new style of generation and gameplay.
It is also important to note, as the disclaimer says that this is an unstable test build for testing and bug reporting. The initial release had too many crashes. These crashes were newly introduced bugs (due to a bunch of faulty changes roughly made the day before release)
I've been working on the new version about 18-20 hours a day for 6 days so far.
I'm still working on it right now.
The changelog for the next version is also getting fairly long, and I seem to be finding the motherload of crash issues ๐
Yeah, I feel like 30% of the planets I visit crash the game

Fixed another 8 problematic major causes of crashes. These ones were nasty, because they could affect any biome.
They were the result of typos again. lol
A tiny crystal shard was linking to the wrong material path
And any biome has the potential to spawn it

I resolved the material issue, by linking the scene to the correct path in that case.
There were a few material issues that I fixed. Some others were other kinds of scene related errors.

Some material issues, were simply the texture paths being wrong on the inside as well.

Re-structuring biomes, to fix CTD's (based on the idea) that it was just overloading.
When in actuality, if this be the case, re-structering them simply changed the seeds
And placed those faulty assets elsewhere
Where that planet might be crash free
But another planet with that asset = CTD anyway
So, this appears to be the root of the problem(s)
Also, I noticed that HG's added a "double sided" flag for grass textures
I'm going to try it on the older ones, w/o the billboard glad enabled

@half condor You can update to the Immersion Update, but keep in mind per the disclaimer: It's an unstable test build for bug reporting.
However, I suggest waiting until I push out the new more stable version that I am working on.

The substance feature within the main biome files seems to be invoking a CTD when the "CRYSTAL" GcExternalObjectListOption is used.
By default "Substance" is set to 0
In all biomes on AR
Apparently the same on former versions
Setting it to 0.1, allowed it to load

Alright, wasn't personally too big a fan of the gridlike look, would fit on a more mechanical looking planet but on something like that it just feels a little bit off ๐
@sacred nacelle I never touched the cockpit, and I can look around when flying or when landed (on my PS4 controller and without). It's gotta be something on your end. As, there isn't a way to disable it with mods tmk

@sacred nacelle Alongside what RaY said, should be a simple matter of using the right analog stick in the cockpit on the DS4 to look around. If that's not working, it's likely something on your end.
