Major VR issues [Discussion]

Good day all.

For some reason my Rift S can no longer play this game. It gets 5fps, freezes, and is completely unplayable. This happened a couple of months ago, but the issue still persists even with graphics set on the lowest setting.

The game ran completely fine months ago, but but now it’s unplayable. I’m not sure what happened to cause this, but I’d like to figure it out so I can play again as there’s nothing like playing in VR. At first I thought it was my headset as I know the Rift S is obsolete, but it was working just fine a short time ago, so I don’t know if it’s an optimization issue or hardware related.

My specs are:

1080ti

i7-6850k

24gb ram

Oculus Rift S

Gamepass on PC... I can't play in Fullscreen, it's locked to borderless! (Help pls) [Question]

Hey guys, I've tried ALT+ENTER :)

I'm at a total loss here. I figured I'd try the Gamepass version as I heard it runs smoother than Steam and I wanted to link my save from my Xbox... Buuuut no matter what I do with these graphics/video settings I can't seem to get the game to run in Fullscreen mode. Is this some resolution incompatiblity that I need to check in Nvidia inspector or something?

Trying to get friend into NMS, he said "It does look like where the future of video games is going." [Discussion]

I think I agree with him actually, NMS is the one game that I play that feels distinctly forward-thinking. Even though it uses a lot of common systems that other games use, the way everything ties together into an experience that still feels like nothing else, while still making the overall experience about the sense of discovery and wonder feels both unique and like NMS is at the top of its class in the kind of game it wants to be.

As well, as a multiplayer experience, even most MMOs do not really feel like the kind of social experience NMS does for me. I mostly play singleplayer because I like the "lonely space explorer" vibe, but occasionally I like to just exist in the world with friends. We don't even need to really be working toward anything the way I often feel compelled to in other games like Minecraft, we can just explore together, or watch the sunset, or take pot shots at space pirates, or sit down on a station and people-watch.

I was very happy that my friend felt similarly about it that I do... Hopefully he's convinced to get it sometime and we can explore the universe together.

First time getting to another planet in the game and I am stuck [Question]

So I am really early in the game on survival mode but when I entered my first planet I had to go to a large kind of pole. I do not really know how to explain it but it spawns me there when I die and have to walk far back, which is a problem. Because thing is, there is almost no oxygen to find on this planet. And I need it because my life support machine is broken, does anyone know how to get out of here?

HELP I maybe bugged my living ship quest?? [Bug]

So I’m working on getting my first living ship. I’m at the end and was trying to use the manual save strat to find an rng ship I liked. But after the first manual save reload, now all the “living host” locations are normal crashed starships?? Did I bug out my mission?? Can it be fixed??

Boys!! (and girls!) Just finished Leviathan. What a wild ride, died a few times but got there in the end! 😎

The new gameplay and balancing is so unbelievably good, it’s like playing a new game again!

I really hope those changes weren’t just for the expedition.

Player guilds/groups/corporations? [Question]

New to NMS, playing it VR. While I do understand that NMS is not necessarily designed to be full-scale multiplayer, it is possible to invite up to 32 players into your session (iirc).

I found this page: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Companies . It states a number of player-driven groups, or so it would seem.

But since NMS is not built for this kind of gameplay, I do wonder how and if players can group some kind of guild or group in-game? According to my research you cannot - but then I do wonder about the meaning of aforementioned link in the Fandom Wiki.

Tutorial length, how long before I can build a real base? [Question]

I like the idea of finding a nice planet, building a nice base, getting some upgrades, upgrading my ship, the local space station makes me think I can hire crew.

I wanted to rush the tutorial and do the above, but then the tutorial (?) mission introduced me to the multiplayer space station hub, which has game changing blueprints (like storage chests).

Am I near the end of the tutorial? When is a good time to do base building? Will I end up accidently completing the main quest without ever building a base?

Do you get given a new ship later in the tutorial? Do you get forced / encouraged / rewarded for building your base on a planet introduced later in the tutorial? Will I be wasting my time or missing some game changer if I start doing some base building now?

Would building exo vehicles be useless until I get a ship big enough to carry them?

I've always wanted to set up my own farm, but I dont know what i should plant. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Like what are good plants i can use, and anything i can craft that would sell for a lot of units? I've seen stasis device come up a lot but that feels too complicated for me.

Companion Egg Disappeared from inventory?? :( [Bug]

Hello all, a few days ago a nice player gifted me a hawk-like companion egg. Today after collecting some materials, I wanted to try out some colors to see how they would look on my new companion. I saved in the anomaly, and went to the egg sequencer. I changed the color and hatched the egg. I interacted with the companion and fed it, then reloaded the save so I could try a different color. When the save reloaded, the egg was gone. The materials I used were back, but the egg is gone and idk how to get it back :(

TLDR; used egg sequencer to change color of companion, hatched companion, reloaded so I could do a different color, but the egg is now gone.

Is this a known glitch? Did I do something wrong?

Performance with a 3070ti? [Question]

Good morning guys! I recently upgraded to a 3070ti with a 10700. I notice that on my paradise planet with ultra settings I’m setting at about 90-100 FPS at 1080p.

I’ve tried going into the system files and changing the high and low numbers along with changing it to match my logical processors.

The reason I’m writing this is because I’m curious if anyone else out there with a 3070ti can tell me what kind of frame rates they’re getting.

Missing the last glyph [Question]

I have finished Artemis's quest line and I am still missing the last glyph. I have check every single station looking for the traveler. What I'm missing? How can I scan the systems to find these graves? As a additional note I notice that the portal in my home planet does not have the activation button as I see in multiple Youtube videos. Exotic vs Solar- Which to max out? [Question]

Trying to figure out which is better to fully max out all tech... an exotic or solar. Ive heard Exotics are the best, but i haven't seen people talk about exotic vs new solar.

I use a nice little space needle exotic for my main ship, but i just found a S solar last night thats epic, and i fully upgraded it, and its super quick and deadly. its stats are either equal or greater than my exotic (but i haven't fully maxed my exotic yet)

just wanted to know, Statistically wise, which ship is better?

No runaway mold anywhere!!! [Bug]

So yeah. On x-box. I’m a 132 hours in. I have made a perfect everything. I just noticed, I have no runaway mold, on any planet. I even went to an expedition planet that I know has mold and farms. Nothing. I went to a mold farm in my other game. No mold on the planet. At all. I just can’t move on. I’m completely in love with the planet I made my home on.

Is the naming bug just a constant thing now? [Bug]

Every single system, planet, plant, and animal I have named over the last week has reverted back to the default name. It just keeps happening. Is anyone else experiencing this? For me it only started happening recently, and I never experienced it before. The discovery aspect of NMS is my favourite part, so this is getting quite frustrating. Anyone know what's going on?

Refiners in survival mode NEED a limit increase [Discussion]

I have been loving survival mode but they really need to up the refiner space for medium and large refiners. 250 for a portable makes sense, but for a medium and large? What a joke. It should be something like 250, 500 and 1000.

Home Base Getting Messed Up [Bug]

Hey everyone. Fairly new to the game. But anytime I have a friend join my game and visit my base..the ground seems to reset and cover random surfaces and build items. It seems to glitch out every single time. Is this a common issue and is it permanent if I save the game? Or does it go back eventually? Anytime it happens I don’t save and just reset the game. How to access the underwater upgrade from the quick menu? [Question]

I can access all hazard upgrades from the quick menu but the underwater upgrade. For me in order to recharge the underwater upgrade I have to open the inventory, click on the underwater upgrade, choose the recharging item, then click again on the upgrade to recharge, then close the inventory. Quite annoying. What I have to do to access the underwater upgrade from the quick menu? Thanks in advance.

Just a quick question. I finished all tasks from the expedition 7, and after all that, all i wanted most was the WhaleStalker Cloak. I was using the expedition save as an secondary save so i could finish the tasks, unlock the stuff, and go back to the normal save, knowing that the unlocks were for all saves, like i saw in a post from reddit before.

Well, i came back to the normal save, but the cloak was locked. Is it truly save-wise? I need to do something more? Maybe the expedition loop progress needs to be completed to receive eberything trough saves?

The Looper title got available trough all saves tho...

How does profanity filter "work"? [Question]

Every time I try to name a base the game tells me it's profanity. Examples that have been knocked back. Dust Bowl Red Station Yellow base Kittens Corner

Is the filter also checking for names already used by other players?

Am I that out of touch that seemingly inoffensive base names are actually super offensive, but I'm to old to realise?

Are there any clear rules about how profanity filter works?

How does Multiplayer work? [Question]

I’ve played the game for a while now and I also took part of the last expedition, and that is what causes me to be confused about multiplayer.

In the expedition I can encounter players in the galaxy is this also for non expedition characters? As I seem to not find anyone (except on the anomaly) in my normal character but I do find bases and players on my expedition character.

Is this because the galaxies are so big so not finding people on a normal character is normal? Since starting up an expedition all the spawns and routes are the same for everyone?

Does anyone know if there is a way (on PS4) to turn off the annoying tips that keep popping up? You know, the ones about spending salvaged data, or the one about collecting Expedition rewards.... they are actually starting to get quite annoying, as the headline states.

Solar ship trail misalignment [Bug]

Recently I have bought a new solar ship. It has very nice looking side modules with engines that generate trails but I have noticed that one of these trails isn't aligned. One goes correctly but the second goes very oblique. Is there a mod, or any other way to fix it?

Solar ship wrong needle engine texture [Bug]

After some update I noticed that all solar ships with "needle" main engine have a wrong texture on it and instead just being metallic it has a dark grey texture with ship decorations. Do you also experience it? And is there any way to fix it? Or maybe it is for purpose?

Multiplayer stuff [Question]

Hi im wondering how multiplayer works in this game because i heard its different and most news are from 2020 so i thought maybe they changed for the better. My 3 friend and I are planning to play together but as i heard we can't share same house, stroage, ship. 1 person can build a home and 3 other might use it but when that person log off others cant see or tp to house ? Other than this i wonder if there is a big ship that we can walk inside together and flew it together like someone fly the ship and others give direction or use the guns or something?

Items not appearing in marketplace after selling [Question]

Hi all,

I'm a new player trying to get units via chlorine farming and market crashing. When I sell my chlorine to the market I get my units but the chlorine itself isn't always available to then buy back at a discounted price. I did it twice at a station with no issue but three others did not have the chlorine available to purchase back. Is there a reason for this? Thanks.

However, In my opinion always having a waypoint telling me where to go and tedious story missions takes away that experience. is there anyway of stopping the story or art least removing a non optional waypoint,

Found S class Freighter with no Space battle [Video]

I found a post on here of a S class freighter I liked so I can’t take credit for finding it. I warped here with the intention of farming an S class. However I found when I saved at the SS after warping I would leave the SS and went to the battle the freighter was there but no battle.

I boarded and it was an A class. I wondered if I could load my save and get a different class. So I did this and my next was C class. I did this for about an hour without a battle and found the S class. This is my first time posting but I’ll put a link to video in comments.

New Player - Trying to find that S-class [Question]

Hi all.

New player. Games pretty fun. Been trying to get enough money for buying an S-class ship, probably a fighter, but not committed at this point.

I've been scouring the wiki and watching some videos (that may be outdated).

I've got a number of questions that I think will help me on my journey, but also would be fine with anyone correcting or directing me to further resources so that I can understand this game.

So I am looking to find an S-class ship, but not does it seem really challenging to make them spawn, I am not sure if I will be able to tell if a ship is a good one or not.

My understanding is that if I want a fighter to have an increased spawn rate, I should:

a) travel to a 3-star economy, Vy'Keen System.

b) travel to the space station or a trading post, to increase the number of ships that come by quickly.

c) check the first wave of craft that spawn (?) for some reason. Is it to- save-scum to have another chance at a ship having better stats or a different class?

d) scan the ship

e) evaluate the ship for the class, appearance, size of the bonuses it has, number of inventory slots, and price?

Adding these factors up together, I will decide if I like the ship and buy it.

So far, I've had zero S-class ships show up across a number of systems, and I would love some clarification:

Is the setup I am describing correct?

If I find an A-class ship that hits all/most of my criteria, is it reasonable to buy that ship and upgrade it to S-class, if I do this, will it re-roll its bonuses?

It seems extraordinarily expensive to buy upgraded storage for a ship, so much so, that spending hours and hours looking for the perfect ship seems faster than endlessly grinding for money to keep upgrading.

If I see a ship fly in that looks perfect, but is not an S-class, can I wait in this system for the same ship model to show...

Possible bug...? [Bug]

I was trying to do this mission, very early in the game, where you have to repair that drone. I did that and now i need to go to that drone information knot terminal, where you have to shoot 2 things to get access to a console or something...

Problem is: That drone facility spawned halfway into a volcano and im sure those 2 things i need to destroy are inside that rock that i cant dig into. I can see drones and mech walkers glitching in and out of that volcano too, so im pretty sure thats not how its supposed to be.

So is this a gamebreaking bug for me than or is there something i can do? And im on xbox, so no going back to older save files or stuff like that...

Please help...

Noob question incoming... planet base in main starting mission/quest [Question]

So I am a super new player in VR, getting the basics down quite well. I am in the part where you have to build your first base as shelter protection and so on. The base was absolutely horrible but cleared the quest, now the log reads something like "uncover the mysteries from the Base Computer".

I was in a really bad place for the base to begin with, so I simply went to the Base Computer and hit "Delete Base", which - unimaginably - made the base disappear.

Now to my question: am I screwed with the main storyline, or can I simply re-setup the Base Computer somewhere else and start building something better to work my way through?

I recently started playing again, and I'm trying to do an autosave on the space station so I can reroll the freighter class. But whenever I land on the ss the battle ends. I go back into space, and its like it never happend. It wasn't like this last week. Has anyone else noticed this change?

Ghost in the machinery - New Bug?? [Bug]

Hi,

I got a serious bug while doing main story quests on PC.

The game tells me to go speak to Apollos contact at space station to get help with my base.

When I speak to the Gek I'm given radiaction, toxic, heat or cold protection.

This is where the problem occurs, the quest doesn't move forward and I keep having the same dialogue with the Gek, being given more and more protection items.

My friend is doing the quests with me, and he got to the next part where he needs to build a cylinder room.

I have restarted the game.

I have saved manually and restarted the game.

I have travelled far to restart mission and returned to the location.

I have learned the recipes for Cylinder and foundation & tried again.

Through all this, I still don't move forward in the quest line.

Does anyone know what I need to do here???

Have googled for the past hour and can't solve this.

For the record, I can buy exosuit space upgrades at the space station multiple times, when my friend can only buy one at each station. Is my entire save f**ked?

New To Game - Paid DLC Possible? [Suggestion]

OK so I only have about 70 hours into this game but have to admit I am supremely impressed by how far this game has come. I have built a couple of bases, just got my freighter last night and feel like their is still a lot for me to both learn and discover.

That said, I did want to list a few things I would REALLY like to see in a future update (or even as paid DLC).

  1. Better oceans - This - to me - is really the only glaring deficiency I see in the game. I know there exist some worlds with waters 50-100m deep but those are rare and honestly no where near adequate. Finding an ocean world with depths numbered in kilometers would be so amazing (insert play subnautica comment here).

I completely understand the amount of work this would require in terms of making the depths interesting with more flora and fauna and perhaps some other mysterious, chaotic and dangerous encounters (underwater civs anyone?) but even just increasing the depth to start would be a major improvement to the game and address an obvious immersion breaking facet that currently exists.

  1. Cities - I know this is a lot to ask and would likely require far too much work for a free update but in a games with literally millions of worlds... not finding a single city/metropolis is a little disappointing. On this note, I wonder if HG could provide more tools and maybe a process to "designate" certain systems or planets to build "player created cities"?

  2. More/Varied AI Interaction/Encounters - The game feels a little static at times when you see a frigate enter the atmosphere (which looks awesome), only to realize it is just a visual and cannot be interacted with. Real freighter battles that have undetermined outcomes for example would be very welcome. In general, having the game progress/advance around you as opposed to just being scripted/static (i.e. planetary raids) would be amazing and add a whole...

discovery names dissappear [Question]

Hello! Picked up the game a week ago and i love it! but having a big issue

Anything I name and upload has the name removed when i revisit. still says that i discovered it but whats the point if my names dont stick? the discovering things aspect to the game is why i like it so far, but if its this broken... all thats left would be base building and i guess i can just use sketchup if i want to build a virtual home.

Anyone find a fix? I read on steam that going to any galaxy other than the starting one will retain ur fauna and planet names. just got to esseinstam last night but havent tried naming them leaving the system.

Expedition 7 exact same multi-tool every time? [Question]

Every single time I restart the expedition I have the exact same multi-tool with the same slots and same horrible stats. The "voltage capacitor" has 333 base damage and is pretty lame. I've been just buying the first C class rifle i can afford because it's usually 3x as good. My brother started playing expedition last night and after his first death started with an exotic rifle with over 2000 base damage. Does anyone else spawn with a different multi-tool when they die or start a new expedition?

The "Black Market" [Discussion]

It's the only place in the game where you can buy raw di-hydrogen, and on top of that they also always have some Tritium. It makes it seem like having a frigate fleet is illegal.

Buying and refining larval cores and hadal cores is the new fastest way to accumulate nanites if you're playing on survival and can't queue up 50k runaway mould refining due to stack size limits.

The "suspicious counterfeit unlicensed" fizzbins might seem a little corny and intentionally over the top, but based on the other goods sold I'm convinced there's a legit in game moral argument to be made in favor of the pirates.

Need help regarding the decision point "Seek the final interface, Complete the Atlas path or Explore the galaxy" [Question]

I wanted to swap out my ship to my cheap throwaway one and I assumed the "Explore the Galaxy" option was the "I want to do a couple more things before I commit to the story" option, so I pressed it, went and grabbed the ship. I now have 0 clue how to reinitialise the decision part and the quest The Purge now only tells me to go to the Galactic Centre, which I don't think I can do (or at least easily) as there are no nearby black holes and it is millions of light years away.

Any help or guidance available?

Other players going through walls and falling through floors. [Bug]

Is there a way to fix this? When I run around my base everything is fine. But when I have a friend try to run around he just goes through walls and floor doesn't act like a floor, as if nothing is there but they see everything and jetpacks through. Even in a small base this happens as well. For me everything is fine and objects like floors and walls act like it should.

My freighter is stranded what do I do? [Question]

So I defended a freighter in a system that was hundreds of thousands of light years away from my home systems I got there by going through an anomaly portal in space the freighter is an S class and I really like it. So with the new system in place that you can’t summon a freighter outside of its jump range what am I supposed to do? Maybe you guys can help me [Question]

I'm trying to play with some mods (on pc), and have in the past but not for a few major updates, and I cant get the mods to work. I've tried updating all the mods, made sure the DISABLEMODS file was deleted, load in through the vortex program, delete mods one at a time, fresh install, start a new save, but no dice. It either crashes when trying to load a save. or a couple times right after the initial splash screen, or the game just plays normally even though I get the "playing with mods" warning. I'm stumped. Wondering if any of one can help me figure this out.

Newb Mining Question [Question]

I noticed the more mining excavators you add to a spot, the lower your ore/per second goes on each unit. There seems to be a large drop off after so many units in efficiency.

My question is, are you better off trying to make TWO farms with say 15-20 excavators on each spot vs. trying to throw a bunch on one spot? I'm not sure how the math works out. I'm sure the class comes into play as well?

Somewhat obvious runaway mold hack. [Suggestion]

I haven't yet found a purpose for the runaway mold I harvest but the three star icon always draws me in. The issue is that I hate chasing the things.

When you chance upon the mold balls, try creating a containment area with the create function of the terrain modifier. That way, the mold had no where to go but into your pockets.

I feel like this is obvious but I've played about 50 hours and only just thought of it now. Hopefully I can save someone the hassle.

Thank Nal, I’ve finally completed Expedition 7! [Discussion]

Holy Nip-Nip, that was a mettle-testing Expedition!

I lost count of how many times I had to restart this thing. What an education on how to be cautious, prepared, organize limited resources in limited inventory. How to be more careful about ‘not dying’. Never did permadeath before, although have a Survival save but most experience has been on normal.

Wish i could go out for drinks with everyone and talk about this whole experience, but will have to make do posting here.

Too much to say, but huge thanks to this amazing community. People who go out of their way to make things better for other players, for really no tangible reward. You lot are an inspiration and make me want to do the same.

All the Communication balls at various major points is really fun and cool. See peoples’ messages from around the world.

Long term projects that are fun and time consuming? [Question]

Is there a way to invert the scroll wheel for the in game menu? [Question]

Im talking to about the horizontal bar used for player/ship/structure actions. in literally every game ive played since battlefield 1941 i have used "scroll down" to move right and "scroll up" to move left. NMS is the only game ive play with it reversed and there is no option in game to change it. is there anything i can edit in the files to rebind this? its really throwing me off.

Multiplayer, Gifting, and PS+ [Question]

The game description on the PlayStation store says PS Plus is required for online play, but that's not required to give people things in the Anomaly is it? Or to otherwise see other players in multiplayer? I would swear that when I first got to the Anomaly, I could see other players before I turned off multiplayer in network settings, but I hadn't activated Plus yet.

And if I joined on my PS4, could I see/interact with a save running on the PS5 under the same account? Or maybe another account sharing the Plus benefits. New to both Plus and NMS so I'm not sure how this works. Is giving items to another player available just in the Anomaly or anytime you are in proximity playing multiplayer?

This game is still a buggy mess? [Discussion]

My friend and I decided to do some co-op. We were searching Apollo in black holes or something and then bugs started happening when a mission teleports you to Apollo and he is a big giant black ball inside a big dark room. That mission. I had a big white-cyan spaceship and he had a smaller green one. After the mission, our ship looks were switched. He had my spaceship look and I had his. They respawn on a planet where the vision is dark, blurry and kind of red. We were doing the mission at the same time and our ships literally got switched. Only the looks though. I still had my inventory and ship name.

We both have a 2060 and we barely keep 90 fps with graphics all on standard. The FPS drops and stuttering are still very common and very annoying during a shootout, considering all that the shootout is is actually the enemy doing circles around you, so good luck in first person. My game crashed twice in my settlement as well and my friend got bugged in a mission where he had to repeatedly circle mission checkpoints forever. He was unable to do the main quest because of this. He played for 30 minutes before realizing the quest was bugged, because traveling around for 30 mins is sort of like a regular nms quest. He checked google and this seemed like a long known bug. My settlement got attacked by sentiels then when I came to defend it, I ran out of the 5k ammo I had, because sentiels kept spawning infinitely and I never got to defend my village because thats when the game crashed again. I still don’t believe they never did optimization updates. Yea sure, new content is great, but what is that worth when the game is so broken you cant even progress the main quest?

Quick Transfer limited to Five targets when on the Freighter? [Question]

I was trying to Quick Transfer some Tritium from Freighter Container Storage to Starship Cargo/High Capacity.

Consider met surprised when it did not show as an option. No matter where I transfer from, every attempt only shows five targets, even if those have no remaining space.

I know I've seen more than five - especially in the Network Enabled Anomaly. But even that appears unpredictable - I can only see other players as targets when standing in specific locations?

Question about single player mode [Question]

I play with multiplayer disabled. If I upload a planet that I discovered and share the glyphs online, will other players that visit the planet be able to see the base computer and teleporter that I place at the portal even though I have multiplayer disabled? Will I be able to see the bases they create and the changes they make to the land?

Under a Rebel Star bugged [Bug]

Game tells me to activate a Rendezvous Beacon from my inventory, the problem is that it didn't give me the item. I've tried going through a black hole in hopes of being able to reset the mission but that didn't work. Could me not killing the corrupted sentinels and instead leaving the area have something to do with it? Either way, help would be appreciated.

Can you still find White Grass Planets? [Question]

I've been searching for years (literally) for a white grass planet in the vanilla game (no mods). My process is this: Eissentam galaxy, F5-7 & G5-7 systems. Just warping to each one, looking at the planets, then bouncing to the next. It's been going on way too long and I feel like at this point I must have found one. I feel like I know what to look for? I would even consider some sort of editor if that's possible at this point. Any advice?

Ghosts in the machine locate Apollo's contact issue [Bug]

Hi everybody,

I've been playing NMS for a while now, and I'm trying to complete the main quest lines now, but am stuck on Ghosts in the machine. Namely, I cannot find Apollo's contact, not in teleporters, nor in the galaxy map. I've researched most things in the game, including the cylindrical room, and I have already found all (5?) people for the terminals in my base. How could I fix this quest?

Cant Progress ‘Base Computer Archives’ Quest [Bug]

The game keeps telling me my Base Computer is in another system (it’s not), and when I interact with it, it just brings me to the standard Base Computer menu. Come to find out the game is now telling me that my friends Base Computer is now the one I have to interact with, but when doing so I get logged in as Guest - only being able to report the base or look at my friends’ gamer card.

Is Expedition 7 worth the trouble? [Question]

I've been putting it off since it came out. I still haven't beat phase 1 because the memory resonator isn't working as easily as it does in the walkthrough videos. It tells me to go to a system that has no path on the expedition route and it detects nothing no matter where I am. I've been thinking is it really worth it? A frigate to summon like the Normandy? If they spawn at random I think its just as useful as spawning it at will (just to look at) everything else in my fleet has the same functions no? I usually don't pass up expeditions but I'm thinking this one isn't going to make me play more than I normally do after completing it. What would I miss if I just let this one go?

Leviathan Atonement Mission [Question]

Does anyone know the name of the Space Station in the first system?

I've lost count of how many planets I've explored, and now I've done everything EXCEPT finding a hostile creature to tame. In various guides, I've seen mention of just shooting anything and if it attacks you back that it'll work. 5 companions later that whacked me good and tamed, still no update to Atonement.

So the other common thing in guides is to do it on the first planet. Evidently there are plenty of hostile creatures there? Except I don't remember which Station/system I should go to.

I swear, every other playthrough I've done there are hostile creatures on just about every planet. Can't believe I haven't come across any yet!

I'm back baby! [Discussion]

I bought game on release, and loved it despite many people being upset about certain things. I played like 150 hours or so and then basically moved on. Checked it out again like a year and a half ago after many updates. Played my original save and had a good time but didn't get that spark again. So I erased my save to start fresh. I played yesterday, started about 9 pm and played until 4 am. I couldn't stop, I didn't want to stop. Although it sucked not having all my inventory space and all my crafting recipes, it felt so fun and like almost when I first played with the sense of wonder and exploration. The game has changed so much and with my base of knowledge and the games starting missions to acclimate new players, I feel I'm off to a good Start. I'm not making billions yet, but having fun exploring, scanning , and mining. Made a small base, did a bunch of starting missions, bought a way better ship, still not close to good yet, and a way better mining tool. Also I've made quite a few more spaces in my suits inventory. I made my character look really cool imo. Almost like a spaceman "almost hunter" from destiny with my cape. This game is so amazing. In sure this sub is full of people who praise Sean and hello games, but it's impressive what they have built and the free update after update to make this game exactly like all the things Sean talked about it being. He loves this game, and that makes it so much easier for us to love this game also. Sorry for the super long post and terrible grammar and punctuation. Feeling very nostalgic rn.....probably over tired. I'm almost done working, bot going to bed when I get home......must play!!!!

New to game: should I use the save from Leviathan expedition as my main save moving forward? [Question]

I read that the expedition saves become normal game saves after the time passes. So I guess the first question is, will Leviathan saves become "normal" or remain "permadeath" saves?

If normal, it seems to me that I'm getting a lot of great stuff, and can even craft memories to spam out a bunch of stuff that might cost lots in a normal game. So should I just go back to doing a normal save and delete my leviathan save? Is my impression of all the great stuff I'm getting in Leviathan overblown and it's just as easy in a normal game? Am I missing the spirit of the game somehow by approaching it with this question?

Again, I'm a total newbie, so forgive my grossly incorrect understanding of nms if it is that. Thanks!

Living ship quest bugged? [Bug]

So.. I got a egg zipped around in space a bit (using the pulse engine) got the little living ship to give me some cords went to that system (it gave me some rough cords on a planet had to find this altar thing) then it told me to go to space and I used the galaxy map and it's not showing the little egg symbol next to any system. Also in the middle of my screen the text "INTERSTELLAR COORDINATES RECIEVED." is stayed on my screen.

Any help?

Ship pools and crashed ships [Question]

I apologize in advance if this has been asked already but my search results weren't really answering the issue I am running into.

I've been farming crashed ships and I've noticed that the same 4-5 ships keep showing up with the same classes. I was under the impression that crashed ships were pulled from the ship pool similar to the ship pool used for trading posts/space stations. But after spending some time farming and even trying multiple planets, I'm noticing the same 4-5 ships.

Can anyone confirm or explain this?

Community Freighter Registries? [Discussion]

Something I've been wondering about is whether or not the different communities in NMS have their own Freighter/Capital Ship registry numbers? You know, like how Star Trek's most well-known ship, the USS Enterprise, is registered as NCC-1701.

And if they don't, why not start now? Also, what should independent Freighters/Travellers register their ships as?

Galaxy reset [Question]

So, I am at the Galaxy Reset phase of my first playthrough, and I need to ask: what happens now?

Once I decide a type of galaxy to reset to, how will the game proceed?

Will I still be able to access my bases?

Will their planets be changed?

Does the reset create a new copy of the galaxy, or alters the one I'm already playing in?

Sell prices bugged in stations? [Bug]

Yesterday I sold a bunch of chlorine I had been saving up to a station and the bid price dropped to -80%, as it usually does. I created a ton more over the past day and found a completely new system and that station SHOWED +4% (pretty high it seems), so I sold my chlorine there. However, I was not paid the right amount. I did the math and it seems like the price was still about -80%, despite actually showing +4%. For example, if I sold 50k chlorine at +4%, that should have been 39m units. However, I was actually only paid about 8m units (roughly, I didn't note the exact numbers). That works out to about 158/159 per unit, which is around -79%.

I have obviously shut the game down since yesterday when I sold all the chlorine I had yesterday, and I thought each systems price was supposed to be independent of each other... so what gives? It seems like the game gave me the wrong price... Has anyone experienced this before?

Can I get rid of the Overseers from my Base [Question]

I've been playing since January of this year. I've completed 3 expeditions, including the Leviathan. But I have never completed the main quests.

I know, I know. It's time :)

So now I am in the middle of the Apollo quest line, and I need to build a base and add an Overseer, Scientists, etc. I have about a dozen bases now in this save, all functioning perfectly.

I found another little system in another galaxy, wherein there are 3 paradise planets. I was thinking of building a base on one of them, adding the Overseer, etc. And then when I move on in the quest, delete the terminal and get rid of the Overseer and his buddies. Is that possible? Will deleting the terminal do that? Will that cause problems? Will it glitch the quest or my save? Are there any other downsides to doing this?

Hazard protection [Question]

Does anyone know if there are other hazard protections besides the c class ones you buy at the nexus? I have the s class ones that give you and extra charge and the c class ones that give you the % increase to base protection, is there a way to increase the c class to a higher class giving you more protection % or is it that you just add more of the “over shield” ones? I’m currently trying to maximize protection while also not sacrificing 90% of my storage on my suit as I’ve been rolling with the c class one and then the 3 of each for a while and read that this is not necessary… any help is appreciated!!

Issues with Fleet Command Room [Question]

Got a freighter today(C-Class) after I fought some pirates, whilst on a pirate mission. But for some reason all the fleet command rooms I've placed keep either creating voids/holes in the walls or just seem to get removed and replaced by what was there before. I had the one built into the wall near the Bridge just is being affected by the latter issue and any I've placed in an area ik is safe to build in is being affected by the former issue. Any idea what's going on or what I've done to mess things up?

Bugged floating bipedal sentinel blocks completion of expedition [Bug]

I tried searching around to see if this was a known bug but couldn't find a post. Sorry in advance is this is a well-known bug.

So, in the iteration 4 of the expedition, I need to shut down the sentinel forces on a planet.

Everytime I get to level 4, the first bipedal sentinel bugs out as soon as it jumps the first time. Just floats in the air. I can take down some defenses but afterwards it takes absolutely no damage. I've tried to shoot it from all angles, go out of the combat zone and back, nothing works. I've tried to warp to another planet and try it, and the same thing happened. I've now been to level 4 a few times, always ending with the bug.

Am I doomed or is there a trick to kill this sentinel?

Can I Run This Game With Minimal Frame Drops and Crashes? [Question]

I have been thinking about getting this game, but my only fear is that my PC will not be able to run it without it being nearly unplayable due to frame drops and crashes (I have heard from others that the game is not well optimized). I run a 16 GB RAM, a Ryzen 9 5900HX cpu, and an RTX 3060. I am okay with lowering graphics settings or setting a lower FPS, if it prevents major issues.

Can't reach burial site [Question]

I'm supposed to dig up these ancient bones, but I can't go any farther than this. I've tried approaching it from every possible direction but it's like there's bedrock around it or something. I'm at a loss.

Is this a bug? If not, then how do I get there?

What makes for a good planet after aesthetics? [Question]

If it is in an uninhabited system, what are the consequences of that besides no space station? Does that mean no settlement can be found in the system too? What do the letters mean after the star type and average temperature, i.e. F4p is peculiar, but what other letters are meaningful in this game? What is the effect of a black market? Just an opportunity to sell illicit goods?

I have a very surreal, nice looking planet found in an uninhabited world and I wonder if it is the best spot.

Any other considerations are welcome, thanks.

A Tip when grinding for S-Class Freighters [Information]

Not sure if this has been discussed or not - if it has, I apologise, I'm new to the game and everything is fresh to me(and a lot of vids and info online are a year or two old so a lot has been patched and updated).

I recently begun a serious attempt at this game. Grinding resources, missions, exploration, YouTube, wiki's, the works. I got the S-Class tool, the Living Ship, my first Billion™ and the last thing on the list was an S-Class freighter. The last time i made a flaccid attempt it took 4hrs+ and best I got was a B-Class in a 3-star system.

The process I followed from Google and YT was 1) the standard 3hrs playtime, 2) 4 warps, disembarking your ship at a space station before the 5th warp, 3) with the 5th and final warp being to a system with 3-star economy that spawns freighters of your preferred flavour, 4) fighting pirates and entering the freighter and scanning it to check the class. The problem with this is I have an old console and this process takes 2 long loading screens - loading the savegame and the warp itself(not sure if my process is incorrect or not).

What I did differently is when I got to the freighter battle, I entered the Space Station to avoid the fight, then I left and entered my OWN freighter(already parked in the system) and made a manual save. From here what I realized is that when I reloaded the save inside my freighter, the pirate battle didn't happen, and I could go straight into the freighter to check the class. That's one less load screen. It cut the grinding process in half. Not only that, but when I entered the freighter, there was one of each type of ship parked inside, including an Exotic(which I bought as soon as I scanned an S-class freighter hehehe). Bare in mind, while the ships appeared each time i loaded my save, they don't stick around, if you're not...

A few galaxy jumping questions from a returning player [Question]

Hello fellow Travelers. I'm playing again after a long break, quite a bit new & different, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm thinking about traveling to other galaxies by jumping through the teleporter at the Anomaly when a link to another galaxy pops up. I understand going through the black hole at the center of the universe to get to the next galaxy breaks all your stuff. Does using the teleporter still break anything? As long as I put a base & teleporter in the new galaxy can I just jump back and forth between galaxies as I'd like? Can I access my freighter, ships & exocraft in other galaxies? Any other things I should be aware of / look out for as I galaxy-hop?

How does co-op progression ACTUALLY work? [Question]

I've been playing NMS for years now but I still - to this day - cannot wrap my head around the co-op system. I have many questions about it. Can you START a new save together ON co-op? (i.e not starting it in singleplayer and then going to co-op, as you will end up with different home systems that way)

Will it make the system you both spawn in your home systems?

Is it possible in any way shape or form to just share one base or share quest progression? I hate that progress MUST be made individually and cannot be done together that I know of.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can we no longer "extend" bases? [Question]

I've always been able to drag a trail of batteries or even flooring to extend the reach of my base so I can get to electrical nodes that are a bit out of reach. Now it's shutting me down RIGHT at the border and placing base items there isn't extending it. Is this a "fix" they're implemented, or am I having a bug?

I Lost My Ship! Please Help [Question]

Hi! I am new to the game and am absolutely loving it, but I have run into an issue and would appreciate some help.

I found a new ship while exploring and accidentally switched it to my primary. This wouldn’t normally be a problem, but I cannot summon my old ship because it is out of fuel and I cannot find it because it isn’t on my compass due to it not being my primary ship anymore.

Anyone else get silos that never empty? [Question]

For some reason my silos stay full even when i repeatedly drag the active indium to my inventory, i can keep doing it over and over and it stays full at 19,750. Anyone else have this? Seems like a crazy bug and very beneficial for me right now lol making hundreds of millions from this. So weird.

Is this game worth getting? [Question]

Hey all, I've heard alot about this game (negative and positive) and I wanted to ask if this game was worth the buy. Due to the economy and other reasons I have a very limited income right now so I can really only get one new game a year (if it is an expensive title) so I really want to do my research to make sure it is the right fit for me.

I like sandbox games. Two of my most played games of all time are Spore and Starbound (both of which I love) so is this game anything like those? Also how grindy is it? I really don't like games with too much grind in them which is a big part of the reason I stopped playing Minecraft, I also don't like games that are too easy either.

What are your guys/gals opinions?

I just completed the mission where you get to chose a new galaxy to travel to. I was a little worried about losing my base so I immediately traveled back to my old base via the Anomaly. Then I realized I didn’t have a way to get back to the new galaxy. Is there a way to easily travel between galaxies?

Player offered missions? [Question]

After playing the game 300-400 hours I get bored with the game and I see a real future in the area of member offered missions. For example, I would love to have a mission where someone asks me to locate a specific species by name and bring them back a picture of said beasty and then they reward me with the promised prize. The species is listed by name and the reward value is based on how vague the initial coordinates are. Does NMS or one of its' community groups player driven missions and if so, who? And How do they work?

Fastest way to the edge? [Question]

Over the past week I have been jumping away from the center and it's been slow going. I was told that the black holes are supposed to move you closer to the center by a couple thousand LYs each use, but that it was also kind of random.

I decided to hop in one to just check it out, and it tossed me to the other side of the galaxy, but I am unsure if it moved me closer or further away. I forgot to check the LY count, but on the galaxy map it "looks" like I'm further away?

Basically thought, I'm just wondering what the fastest way to the edge is, conventional jumps, or tossing myself into black holes over and over until one plants me relatively close to the edge.

Do you guys think that defense turrets or AA turrets would be a neat addition to nms or no? I think that they would be useful in addition to having your base attacked by pirates or sentinel spacecraft and drones.

Noob question maybe but the math isnt adding up [Question]

OK so I heard a lot about crashing an economy and buying back at a lower price.

So I’m at my first trading post and I can also go to the space station

I have 15 K cobalt and 3000000 units The amount already for sale at the station and at the trade post is = to 112k units.

So when I buy them I now have 2,888,000 units and 15.6 K

The new purchase price after selling them drops by 16%

The problem is when I go to buy them back I have less than 2,888,000 units

Shouldn’t I have roughly 16% more? Or basically 3350080 units

Instead i am loosing units but not by any kind of rational amount

My radiant pillar got transformed into a sail ship. Does anyone know how I can reverse this? [Bug]

I started a new permadeath save and I did most of the Artemis quest and I decided to activate a portal to use the first glyph to get close to the center of the galaxy. When I charged the portal, it automatically opened up and when I went through it I was brought to a planet I was taken to during the Artemis quest but this time when I waited to be brought to another planet nothing happened. It said my ship was a sail ship located off planet and it didn't allow me to open the build menu to make a save point so I saved at a nearby save point I found and reloaded. After reloading I was brought to the other planet from the Artemis quest and this time my ship was right in front of me but it's still that sail ship that I've never owned. It has the same stats, technology and inventory as my radiant pillar. I flew to a space station and teleported back to my base, saved and reloaded a few times and still my radiant pillar is gone. Does anyone know of a way to reverse this?

Iteration vs MMO RPG Features [Suggestion]

NMS is a survival game which encourages iteration game play. But I would love to see it continue to add MMO like features because of it's potential to be a 1 iteration type of game. I personally don't like survival games because I hate starting over from nothing and redoing the same actions to rank up. But I don't mind dying in an MMO RPG and losing expensive assets and having to regain them. So I would love more features that encourage extended playthrough roll play. For NMS to be successful here I think they need a long term game goal that is ongoing and costly. For example Eve Online has a really fun model for this because there is ongoing factional warfare that must be supplied with money to replenish lost equipment. And conquest is built into the game mechanics. NMS lacks features like this so once you have built a few sugar daddy bases that produce millions of credits the fun drops off pretty quick for me. I would love to see NMS add features that make long term play throughs more feasible. It needs a long term ongoing cause that depletes credits making bases more useful after you build them. In fact it would be cool to add a game mode where you conquer planets and you are limited in base count by the number of planets you control. And in this mode, if you die in space, for example, you actually lose that ship.

Artemis path issue [Question]

After a hiatus, I've returned to the game and been playing mostly side quests etc. Because of this my standing with the Gek is at the second highest level. This is an issue now because I want to work on the main storyline but I think it's impossible for me to raise my standing with the Gek by two levels now to advance the storyline. I've tried lowering it by using the synthgek word, but it keeps track and displays a negative number.

Is there any way around this? I've put in like 30 hours on this save

A small question about miscellaneous technology on Living Ships [Question]

Ok so I know how to get upgrades for the living ship tech, but is there any way to get other technology onto a living ship other than just upgrades (i.e. economy scanner, recharging launch thrusters, cargo scan deflectors, etc)? I'm loving the living ship so far and this is the only real problem I have with it :/

If you had troubles with the expedition and gave up because you didn't want to restart I can help you get through it. SPOILER ALERT If you get the flute at the end and talk to leviathan it gets rid of the permadeath. I can help you by getting you to the last Anchor Point planet then give you the supplies you need in order to complete the Derelict Freighter. All you would need to do it the first parts of the expedition. Get to your ship and fix it then go to Polo. Let me know when you are going to be on and send me a friend code. Stuck in spawn system, quintillion to one problems [Question]

The Odyalutai galaxy has an unusual star system very close to the core, so close that it's deep within the starless bubble around the core. You cannot visit it or escape without hyperdrive upgrades, which you normally have by the time you reach this galaxy. The portal glyphs are a bird and eleven triforces.

My girlfriend and I started playing NMS and we started in Odyalutai in this inescapable star system, and I have no idea why. We progressed up until the point where the story wants you to jump to another star system. This means we haven't unlocked escape tools such as the Anomaly yet.

We already tried pinging the Galactic Hub discord for a player with a freighter to rescue us, but using a Hub freighter to jump to another system teleported me into the ceiling of the freighter and left my girlfriend stranded in space in the previous star system. My girlfriend went to bed. Has spawning outside of Euclid ever happened to anyone else? How do we escape efficiently starting with two unupgraded Radiant Pillars?

Random Sentinel Base Attacks & Equipment Loss Upon Death [Suggestion]

I think NMS needs random and destructive base attacks by Sentinels. In the current model you can build unlimited bases with unlimited financial capabilities and after you have a few nice cash cow bases, you have all this extra money and nothing to do with it so the game play for that play through takes a hit. I mean having attacks makes sense from a game play point of view because it gives you a constant threat to your production line and keeps the gameplay fresh and consumes cash as you have to spend money to repair damage. Attacks also makes sense from a storyline perspective because the sentinels should care when they see large bases popping up and manipulating the natural resources of the area.

Adding another cash sink like equipment loss or downgrade upon death would also help make the currency more scarce. If I am killed in an S class freighter in space and I have to replace that ship, that's gonna take time and cash.

And I think cash producing base count should be limited or I think the frequency and/or aggressiveness of the attacks should be synced to the amount of revenue the base is producing.

I guess what I'm looking for is a sandbox game that challenges me well beyond a few hundred hours. NMS is not an MMO RPG that focuses on a single playthrough but it could be one with a few changes like these.

Another thing to point out about base attacks is that having to maintain base security would also encourage players to consider spending more time making money through other means, like stealing, bounty hunting, exploration and trade routes.

Scrap Mission Crashes Game - Anyone else? [Bug]

Supply depot question - I was always under the impression that there were strict ratios on how many mineral extractors that you could connect to storage depots. In bases that I've set up, I always found that 4 extractors to 10 storage depots worked well. Connecting them all up didn't work. (Con’t) [Question]

Then I came across this base. It has around 100 mineral extractors connected to around 100 storage depots, but they all connect to one storage depot that you can collect approximately 160,000 units from.

Any ideas how this is possible?

A Trace of Metal Pillar Glitched [Bug]

Hey guys wanted to ask you if there is a way to to complete the expedition instantly or get the reward without playing through the expedition. I'm asking because I'm really pissed at this point. The game already killed me twice through the mission by randomly throwing me across half of the planet. Until this bug isn't fixed there is probably no way I can complete this expedition. Do I've been doing Under a Rebel Star and reached the point where I 'follow the voice of freedom', only for the mission objective to direct me to a building where the door is in a mountain and the terrain manipulator won't work because its bedrock.

Is my GF doomed not to complete the Expedition? [Discussion]

I've posted about this before under the bugs thread, but the black-screen-freeze upon exiting your ship continues to haunt us.

I've downloaded the newest drivers which helped for one session. Now when she loads up again, the first time she exits her ship, the game crashes, no matter where she flies to.

I've tried a brand new save for her, even tried a separate pc in a different household, both with no luck.

Have there been any fixes for this? Or does anyone have any suggestions for what to try next?

Starship trading [Suggestion]

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a flair like trading where you would want to trade your ship for another ship, and people could just drop their friend code and they could trade. I think it would be cool, and in my opinion, starbirth quest is really annoying and I’m seeing if anybody has a spare living ship.

I’m headed toward Eissentam because I’d like to see what a lush galaxy is like, but I was wondering if there’s some “best” galaxy out there that has the highest odds of seeing really exotic and unique stuff. Anyone else have problems with being in party with friends? [Bug]

I started playing and introducing the game to my 2 friends. We have played for 20 hours together and when we are in party I constantly get kicked from it and they have to invite me again. Its so annoying. Every time I travel somewhere or be a bit far from the party it just kicks me out. Even when I'm the host the party it just gets disbanded. Thank god that there are white dots UI that at least you can see other players dot that you can navigate but this problem just doesn't stop. I can't play missions with them because of this.

At least we explore together but I just can't seem to find the solution online.

how does the procedural generating and multiplayer work? [Question]

Just started playing recently and absolutely love the game. Been browsing this subreddit for tips and I keep seeing people posting about specific locations on planets and giving the coordinates and glyphs needed to teleport.

I don't really understand how this works. I thought planets were procedurally generated when you enter a system, and might be different for every player. When it says I've discovered a system, does that mean people will see my name on that system saying I discovered it should they enter?

Also see people saying there is always a chance you could run into other players. If I have pvp turned on and my freighter was parked outside a space station, could I get pirated and have all my freighter loot taken from me! Even if the chances are really low

Hope you guys can help me understand this. Thought I had it figured out but been getting more confused with how it all works lol.

NMS after 130 hours has nothing more to offer to me [Discussion]

What I think after circa 130h.

My last personnal mission was to collect all planet types and biomes, done roaming in Eissentaim, Euclid and Bulladangr and in another player discoveries.

I'm not really interested by expeditions (things time-limited and out of my normal saves ? Nope). Survival or permadeath includes just more grind (I'm really tired and not interested in grinding/farming now).

I like to do pirate missions and to attack randomly freighters but the problem is there are no consequences of my acting, I just get ressources and as I have billions of credits and nanites I can't see the point. If I want to be infamous, I should get a bad reputation and be chased by bounty hunters.

Explorations ? Tiring now.

Combat ? My S solar ship is broken idk if this is a bug but I shred with base canon in less than 2 seconds everything. Also flight model is not so interesting.

Farming, commerce, I'm done with this. Or at least I'd like a very developped commerce influenced by galactic events.

Pets ? Not my thing. Or I would like to build an army with them to conquer places.

What I need right now in this game is characters (pnj with life, personnality, stories, plots... Mainly my first request for a space game now) and then other rewards than ressources (like a real reputation system for example... ), galactic plots where you can really influence events, different stations interiors, different climates in a planet, populated bases (I can't see the point building bases with no one in there) and Cities (not these tiny colonies that you don't really manage) . I'd like also, and I wonder why devs didn't include this because it's obvious for such a game, a tourism system. Sightseeing in exotic planets would be funny with risk included and tourists reactions.

I had a great time with this game and consider it as a great game but I think that...

Long distance energy cable not sending power [Question]

okay so ive made an electromagnetic generator and then hooked it up to a battery 400u away, ive made checkpoints bc 1 cable thing isint enough. and when i cheked the battery there isint any power in it, but placing the battery close works, any idea to fix this so its sending power long distance?? ps the power is needed for activated indium farm.

I'd like to see fauna that live in nests, trees or caves [Suggestion]

At the moment, it's very obvious that fauna simply spawn in a location, I don't feel like they belong there. I'm not even sure if younger creatures stay close to their parents, maybe I'm wrong... In any case, I'd like to see birds that land in trees to sit in a nest and tend to their young. Smaller animals that burrow in holes in the ground. Wouldn't it be cool if we found bigger creatures actually sleeping in a cave. I'm one of these people that wants NMS to be enjoyable for exploration and I thought there might be scope for this

Expedition mode question(s) [Question]

I’m about 1.5-2 months new to the game and I feel like I have decent understanding of the basic game progression while playing normal mode. So now I’ve begun to try and understand how expeditions work, but I’m still quite confused. I really want the living freighter ship, but all this talk about the permadeath expedition mission and how it’s supposed to work is just going way over my head atm and I don’t have any friends who play this game that can help. Is it a solo experience (if multiplayer is allowed, maybe someone would be willing to run through it with me? I’ve never been super fond of solo missions/quests in games lol)? Will I be able to get the ship reward on my normal save that I have all my progress on? Terrible framerate in 1080p on PS4 Pro. [Question]

It’s 2022. The game has been released back in 2016 I believe. I’ve recently bought the game due to positive press. How come I cannot achieve the advertised 1080p 60fps experience on my PS4 Pro using a 4k tv? The game is fluctuating between 50-20fps most of the time which makes it really hard to enjoy. I’ve tried everything. Rebuilding the ps database, framerate lock, HDR on/off, it’s all the same. Other games are running fine, even in 4k 60fps. This one just doesn’t seem to work properly. As much as I would love to play this game, my experience is being completely ruined.

Weird bug in my town. [Bug]

I got an error in my outpost after a request to allow a settler in. He got rid of a negative adjustment and dramatically increased my income, but was supposed to add debt equal to 1 day of that income bonus (like 93k) to debt.

The village interface now shows debt in the billions, though.

Is this a bug? Should I just abandon this city to build elsewhere?

Guide: Fast way to save scum for ANY S class Freighter (bypass pirate battle every reload) [Information]

Every 3 in game hours and every 5 warp jumps will trigger a freighter distress event where you have to kill a bunch of pirates attacking the distressed freighter.

When looking for a specific freighter, wait till you think the next jump or two will trigger this event. Save at the space station, make your jump to a 2 or 3 star economy system.

If the event triggers, check the freighter type. If it is not the exact one you are looking for then reload and jump to a new system. When you find the freighter style and size that you want, start killing the pirates but LEAVE ONE PIRATE ALIVE.

Fly to the space station, save, then fly back out. When you fly back out, the battle will be over, the pirates gone, and the distress signal event over. The freighter will still be there, free to board. Board, check the class and freely reload over and over till you find your S class.

This bypasses the pirate battle. I got mine just last week by doing this. Each reload only cost me 1 minute, as opposed to the 2-3 minutes for each pirate clearing run.

[Question]Multi-tool Upgrade Modules - Do certain races have certain types? [Question]

So a LONG time ago I remember reading somewhere that only certain races had certain types of upgrade modules. IIRC Vykeen had offensive upgrades, Korvax had scanner/defensive upgrades, and Gek had other types of upgrades that I can't remember.

Does this still happen in game? I just bought a new multi-tool and want to get modules installed on it. It's just taking a while going station to station to roll the dice on what's there.

New Traveler [Question]

Well, the curiosity I’ve had for years finally made me buy this game. I’m enjoying it so far, but I have a few questions.

How important is it to follow the story?

Can I just ignore the story and do whatever I feel like? I feel like that’s the whole point of the game.

If I do ignore the story, will I still accomplish the things I need to do like construct items for my ship or base and whatnot? Or will I be a little lost?

Is it important to dig up any buried tech I see or is it ok to let it go sometimes?

Thanks for any advice you might have on any aspect of the game.

It would be interesting to have the ability to change the environment with your new fauna/flora and actions, like making a less inhabitable planet more habitable. [Suggestion]

Just an idea, I thought it would be cool if your actions on a planet actually did something to the environment ( like you destroy a lot of the flora/fauna on a paradise planet and it becomes more of a hostile/dead planet or vice versa, where you can grow new plants and help grow new fauna families to populate the planet, eventually making the environment more livable and less hostile.

Multiplayer Freighter Warping [Question]

Freighter warping in multiplayer is notoriously buggy in multiplayer, so I have some questions about it. And no, I don't have any friends to try this out with. Provided all players are on the capital ship's bridge, can a player warp their freighter along with players in the same party? Provided #1 works, will docked ships belonging to party members be carried too? Will group warping work if players are outside the bridge? but still on board?

Update Ship Design Please!! [Discussion]

Please update ships, it's become so boring seeing the same stuff over and over, and we need more customization. Solar sail ships are awesome but the OG ships need love. let us paint ships how we can paint frieghters let us put our base decals onto our ships add more variation to existing ship styles and types add some new cockpits some ships should have passenger spots some ships should have gunner turrets that can be manned by a friend. more exotics, or at least major variations of existing exotics it would be cool if we could upgrade hauler ships to "carry" and exocraft and be able to summon an exocraft from it. let us upgrade some ships to fly underwater, like explorers. it would be cool to add an eject pod to our ships, qnd if they are destroyed, we can just die, or choose to eject and they crash and need to be found and repaired. it would be so cool to SEE the guns we add to out ships, maybe just on fighters? freighters aren't very strong. Let them fire at planets from space! Add pirate freighters that back up the pirates! make pirates scarier. They're super easy to fight and don't feel dangerous. let some systems have all out war between factions or races!

Can’t find an older system [Discussion]

I think I already know the answer. But I need to try by asking on here lol. I found a system a while ago, with a paradise planet. For some reason, my dumbass didn’t put a base computer on it. I have one paradise planet as home base currently, but this one was pretty cool looking. I managed to rename the system and can see it still on my discovered systems. I just can’t find the damn system on the map. And the space station isn’t showing in the teleport menu. Any tricks for finding old systems? I feel like this is just a case of lots of searching and luck. But any tips would be helpful.

Does upgrading a ship to S class still increase inventory grid size to 48 [Question]

Sorry for another upgrade-ship-inventory post once again, but the others I could find in this sub did not clear all my doubts. I have a class A fighter with an inventory total grid size (not just available size) of 5x5 = 25 slots. That's total, without any extra rows if I was to unlock all slots in the grid. I've got another C class fighter with an inventory total grid size of 48, with an inner available to use grid of 30 (5x6). This is what makes sense to me. You got 48, but to use them you need to upgrade your ship (as well as unlocking every slot individually). But then, I've got an S class exotic ship with a total grid of 5x5 = 25 slots. That's it. No more rows to unlock. And since it's already an S class I guess that will be forever.

In short. A class & S class with 5x5 maximum grid, while a C class already has a 6x8 outer grid (and 5x6 inner).

My question is: after all the updates the game had, is it still true that upgrading any ship to S class will give it a total grid size of 48? My class A fighter will suddenly bump from 5x5 to 6x8?

Living Ship Starbirth No Progression [Question]

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with the Starbirth Mission on PS4. I have the mature heart and living stem, I’m just awaiting contact but no matter how many times I activate the pulse drive there is nothing happening. proposition for potential update [Suggestion]

A combat update, its probably been suggested before but it's something nms truly lacks. In the outlaws update we seen an overhall to ship combat but that has only made the none ship combat feel even more dull and lacking, we need more weapons and more ways to use these weapons. More engaging ways to fight sentinels and better yet fighting with other players would make this game alot more fun we could also add enemys comprised of the other races, it simply doesn't make sense that they would only fight with starships, and again to adding more weapons potential carpet bombs from frighters or set up artillery would be nice to see, particularly the infamous multi-sword, the lore for it has already been written and their are many mentions of it throughout the game, it simply doesn't add up on why it's not in yet.

[PC] Any Solutions to fix a seemingly corrupt save? [Question]

Played for around 10 hours on nms for the first time since release and had a blast! Really actually like what the game has become from the last time I played it. Unfortunately I just checked my save this morning and found it labeled "incompatible save" when it was working perfectly earlier. hello, you see, just today I unlocked all the portal glyphs to go to a specific planet, however when I want to use the portal it does not let me enter the sequence of glyphs, it only lets me activate the portal and ask for the coordinates of my planet , when I activate the portal it takes me to a planet that I do not know where it does not let me call my ship or my freighter. It's not the first time I've used a portal but it seems that the game thinks that it is and sends me to the planet of mission but I don't have any mission related to portals D:

The Purge Completely Bugged Out [Bug]

Ok so the Portal step of the The Purge mission is bugged.

The mission prompts me to land near the Portal, then I head to it, and apparently the game does not recognize that. I fill in the Runes, power the portal up, and... nothing. The mission is stuck in the "find the portal" stage. I tried resetting it, yet it always shows up in the same planet, no matter how far I go. And every time, it's the same thing. If you have any advice to offer, I am thankful.

Griefer? [Question]

Was mining some Ore on planet surface. All of a sudden was enveloped in flame n fire. So l ran looking wildly about me expecting to see Pirates ships. Then l was hit again still can't see what's doing this. Run down to my ship close by and launch expecting a fight. Getting the multi-tool & ship weapons you want in Leviathan [Information]

It is possible to use save scumming to get the multi-tool weapon you want at the start of the expedition as well as with Memory Fragments to get the ship weapon of your choice. Even if you generally prefer not to do this, it's worth doing in this case as having the weapons you prefer makes the expedition easier and more enjoyable. Just save before opening the weapon fragments & reload until you get what you prefer.

This was mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, but I thought I'd repeat because I wanted to add the following additional information.

The Boltcaster is a special case. I tried for a long time & it never appears in the multi-tool weapon fragment. Could be the RNG Gods, but I tried for a long time and saw every other weapon many times. But you know this blueprint so can install manually. However, when I did this, I never saw Boltcaster S/X class modules in Memory Fragments, no matter how many times I reloaded. If you install any other weapon, they appear frequently for the chosen weapon.

The only way I could get S/X Boltcaster module was to go to an outlaw station or Scrap Dealer and buy Suspicious Packet (Weaponry) & then save/reload opening these until I got 3 of them.

I also noticed that ship shield modules didn't appear for me in Memory Fragments, so I used Suspicious Packets to get them as well. But who knows how much of this is just random?...

Your Ground floor (?) displays were enlightening. I took advantage of all I could see. The question of were the really good stuff was soon answered as I stepped from your Short Range teleporter. The two Antimatter Reactors were a welcome sight. The 2 damaged containers were a welcome surprise. The 2nd Galactic terminal allowed my quick transaction to unload the race reputation item from the containers. As I patiently waited for the TWO Antimatter reactors to finish I wandered around an found the Short Range teleporter. Hah. I bet you are laughing your big brains butt off. I did NOT reappear on the GROUND floor. Instead I barely survived the sheer drop from atmosphere only because of my boosted Jetpack. Well, laugh all you want buddy. The storm you dropped me into will be over soon. And, I am gonna run back to your base an get my Antimatter! HAH!

How to manage all frigate missions in one control room? [Question]

Recently I obtained a freighter and added an extra frigate for a whopping total of two frigates. I sent one frigate on a mission, and I want it to do the same with the second one. The guy in charge of frigate missions told me to build another control room. Once I built the second control room, I was able to send the second frigate. This is just the beginning. I can imagine myself later on the game with multiple frigate missions and a total mess. How can I manage all frigate missions from one control room? Thanks in advance

This game can be infuriating at times [Discussion]

Was 3 missions from completing phase 5. Jetpacked forward, hit a plant tentacle and got stuck, landed with a five foot fall, and died from full health. Why? I like perma death. Theres a sense of loss and real danger at some points. But sweet baby jesus….what counts as damage is ridiculous.

I was messing around and accidentally killed myself. NBD. But after retrieving my stuff, and before returning to my ship, my game crashed. When I logged back in, no grave, no stuff in my inventory. I’ve looked up videos and it shows people going to the space station to do so. Any kind of text based guide I see on how to do it says to go past all of the merchants. There are only two doors in all 7 space stations I’ve been to. No open market like areas that I’ve seen in the videos. base teleporter missing [Question]

recently there was a sentinel attack at my base. after i diffused it by running away, i found that my base teleporter was missing. Assuming that it was just destroyed in the attack, i went to make a new one. But even though i had enough materials it wouldnt let me. Energy Coil Companion Accessory Function? [Question]

I've been looking online & all I can find is that the rounded laser & movement tracker have actual functions. But the Energy Coil Companion accessory description says it provides an "adaptive level of warmth & light." Which sounds like it might keep you warm on cold planets.

I don't want to pay the 1600 quicksilver if it does nothing though. Has anyone tested this at all? Everywhere I've read says "unknown."

Salavaged Frigate Modules? [Question]

Im having a hard time farming these. I Know you can SOMETIMES see them on freighters i've been checking its very time consuming. Does anyone know the best method to collecting these? My freighter has like no upgrades and It can only go to yellow stars right now lol I know you can also get them from derelict freighters but ive also read that the chance is pretty slim and i've done about 6-7 of them and havent gotten a salvaged frigate module yet from those and those take some time to do as well. Just wondering if there are any other better methods

Graves on New Boise not giving glyphs😥 [Question]

So, I did the thing where you use travelers to get the first 2 glyphs, then, you find a portal, then you use the 2 glyphs to get you to a system with a planet called New Boise where you can follow a list of coordinates, going from 3 - 16 to get the rest. IT WORKED PERFECLTY.

Fast forward a day. My buddy has one glyph. I helped him find a portal and build a base on it. I went to New Boise with my portal, had him join my game so he could just use the Space Anomaly to warp to me, then I gave him the list of coordinates and told him what to do.

Weeeellllllll, he went to the first one on the list and got glyph 2, then he went to the second and got glyph 3, but now, every other one he goes to doesn't let him interact with it?????? Did we break it? Any ideas to get them working for him?

Might be worth noting: I even had him use the first 2 glyphs on his own portal to head there with multiplayer disabled and try to pick up from grave # 4, but no luck

A cosmetic suggestion (for emotes) I've submitted but want to share here for discussion. [Suggestion]

The emotes are decent, but A) there's a bunch that the NPCs get and we don't and B) I think the combination of adding new ones for both us and NPCs would add a lot of fun life to the game.

First and foremost - I'd love to be able to buy the emotes of NPCs holding up a hologram. or their tablet. You know how they project a ship or a something, it's super cool and I'd love to be able to do that. If you are entering a dialogue with an NPC you'd do one of these emotes by default, and other people watching would see it. Down the line if we ever get Trade Windows with other players it would be the same.

So that's kind of an 'interaction' emote functionality, that we can also just play from the menu if we want. Other interaction emotes would be really fun especially if given to NPCs. For example pilots usually just walk around their ship and open their pad now and then. I'd love an emote that involves checking the ship, inspecting the engine, running a scanner over the wing, a few little cycles of different maintenance and inspection. It would look great when NPCs do this, and would be extremely cool to see in the Anomaly of people using it for AFKing .

Same with something like a multitool inspection. Other interactables would be tending to a harvest (so you can Emote-interact with the Hydroponic Tray to play a little cycle of inspecting/scanning/trimming a plant). Maybe the same with petting your companions.

Silly waste of dev time? Maybe. But I think it would add a lot of life. Curious what ideas other people would have.

Performance issues (2022) when moving far distances PLEASE HELP!!! [Question]

I have a Geforce RTX 3080 ti, 16gigs ram, i5-7500

I get around 200 fps, runs smooth, but I was wonder what is causing my game to get super choppy- like 5 fps- when I move a decent amount of distance?

I'll load in, everything loads up and it runs amazingly smooth.. I look around- still smooth- still looks great, runs great.. Then I do the melee attack/thruster to zip super far but really fast, and once I get to the spot where grass isn't even loaded in yet, I start getting super bad performance.. Any help would be amazing :( I like this game but this is the 1 thing preventing me from playing.

Ship sparking, found damaged and fixed. [Bug]

So I found this ship that I found via a planetary map thing from a cartographer, I fixed it up but it's still sparking. I fixed all the cargo slots and the technology slots and it had no damaged parts, but it's makes an annoying sparking sound constantly. What can I do to fix it?

(modding) how "safe" is it to install and maintain a mod that modifies planet and terrain generation? [Question]

I have specifically tested woodymontanas "Better Terrain Generation". I really enjoyed it, but found that it had much less dense flora than the vanilla game, especially while looking for a tundra planet. Uninstalling it caused the save to be corrupt, and would crash when loading.

It also sounds like these mods get broken easily by new updates.

This has put me off actually running an exploration mod, are risks of save corruption / crashing common? not being able to safely uninstall the mod could become extremely problematic later. are none of them safe to uninstall?

Hello! I am a new player and my first time on this subreddit.

I just started the Space Anomaly quest but fell asleep while talking to Nada. Woke up to duplicated items(sodium, carbon, chrome, oxygen) and somehow got 9,999 Activated Indium.

I am very confused. I think this is a bug and I'm worried about breaking the natural game progression if I exploit and sell the items.

Friend stuck on Alone Admist The Stars mission [Question]

I have a mate who’s fairly new to No Mans Sky. He is about 15hrs in and trying to do the alone admist the starts mission. Problem is he can’t.. it says the mission is WAY TOO FAR away. I’m a bit confused. I’ve beaten the main storyline on a normal save before, and decided to try out a PD run for fun. How does the solar system work? [Question]

Hello, I wondered if I could go towards a sun in a random system, so I loaded a bunch of fuel in my ship and with my cargo and station behind my back, I aimed for the sun and traveled. Refueled like 10 times, looking back every once in a while to see how much distance I’ve covered and kept going. After some time, I’ve noticed that the sun I was aiming for wasn’t getting any closer, and somehow, both cargo and station ended up in front of me, roughly 15.000ku ahead, next to the sun.

My guess is the sun is just a visual thing, and I’ve been going in circles? Also I always had to reajust my course because my ship seemed to be dragging left...

So how does it work?

Terrible framerate in 1080p on PS4 Pro. [Question]

It’s 2022. The game has been released back in 2016 I believe. I’ve recently bought the game due to positive press. How come I cannot achieve the advertised 1080p 60fps experience on my PS4 Pro using a 4k tv? The game is fluctuating between 50-20fps most of the time which makes it really hard to enjoy. I’ve tried everything. Rebuilding the ps database, framerate lock, HDR on/off, it’s all the same. Other games are running fine, even in 4k 60fps. This one just doesn’t seem to work properly. As much as I would love to play this game, my experience is being completely ruined.

Weird bug in my town. [Bug]

I got an error in my outpost after a request to allow a settler in. He got rid of a negative adjustment and dramatically increased my income, but was supposed to add debt equal to 1 day of that income bonus (like 93k) to debt.

The village interface now shows debt in the billions, though.

Is this a bug? Should I just abandon this city to build elsewhere?

proposition for potential update [Suggestion]

A combat update, its probably been suggested before but it's something nms truly lacks. In the outlaws update we seen an overhall to ship combat but that has only made the none ship combat feel even more dull and lacking, we need more weapons and more ways to use these weapons. More engaging ways to fight sentinels and better yet fighting with other players would make this game alot more fun we could also add enemys comprised of the other races, it simply doesn't make sense that they would only fight with starships, and again to adding more weapons potential carpet bombs from frighters or set up artillery would be nice to see, particularly the infamous multi-sword, the lore for it has already been written and their are many mentions of it throughout the game, it simply doesn't add up on why it's not in yet.

hello, you see, just today I unlocked all the portal glyphs to go to a specific planet, however when I want to use the portal it does not let me enter the sequence of glyphs, it only lets me activate the portal and ask for the coordinates of my planet , when I activate the portal it takes me to a planet that I do not know where it does not let me call my ship or my freighter. It's not the first time I've used a portal but it seems that the game thinks that it is and sends me to the planet of mission but I don't have any mission related to portals D:

The Purge Completely Bugged Out [Bug]

Ok so the Portal step of the The Purge mission is bugged.

The mission prompts me to land near the Portal, then I head to it, and apparently the game does not recognize that. I fill in the Runes, power the portal up, and... nothing. The mission is stuck in the "find the portal" stage. I tried resetting it, yet it always shows up in the same planet, no matter how far I go. And every time, it's the same thing. If you have any advice to offer, I am thankful.

NMS requests make the sentinel drone more useful, it gets in the way of scanning, it could be assigned to scan only one thing on a planet, like minerals or fauna Spaceship management menu, change primary ship default so it doesn’t change to the first slot every damn time you sell a ship. Change space ship in space station!! Please! Sort inventory, and filter by, this should extend to using refiners as well Search inventory function / search catalogue in pause menu When using a refiner with >1 slots and an item is loaded into it, automatically grey out or exclude items that are not part of that recipe or compatible for streamlining crafting and building Reduce the amount of time it takes to search, or interact with the environment (collecting resources, etc) Reduce the scanning visor time, takes too long or allow mods to reduce this time Allow certain automation aspects of your base, like farming or mining. Some drones could be programmed with some basic behaviour, go here, do this, go there, do that. Any collected resources could be dropped into hoppers for you to collect the next time you come to your base. Mission agent at your base, guild envoy at your base / settlement, cartographer at your base Base NPCs, invite species from space stations to come and live at your settlement / base, perform tasks, like farming or mining, establish trade routes which are like miniature freighter expeditions, make your bases feel more like a town, feeds into the above - any items collected in hoppers could be automatically reinvested or sold when they reach a threshold Add a method to manage, buy and sell multi tools when using the quick store menu, and a stack of items...

Question [Suggestion]

I'm 160 hrs in on NMS I have reached the earning cap in units. I am able to purchase anything I want from the upgrade shops but it never lowers the amount of my units, nanite clusters or quicksilver. I do not know if it matters or makes a difference I'm on xbox, also I have read that you can die in thus game animals can kill you or even storms but I have even tried to kill my guy by jumping off really tall structures but I land on my feet never get attacked by any of the creatures. Is my game glitched in a good way? Not cheating, no gamer codes for my issues.

Once the farmer's quest-line is done, I think he could make himself useful by actually farming our crops while we're out exploring [Suggestion]

We could pay him a wage, for every plant he harvests he gets X units/nanites, or something like that. I think paying him nanites will encourage those of us who have big farms to do more nanite-focused missions/grinding even after we've already upgraded all of our gear. They become quite useless as a currency if you play on the same save for long enough.

I have a huge farm and harvesting the plants is really tedious and time-consuming. Get this lazy layabout Gek to pull his weight already! All he does once you finish his quest-line is stand around farting like the engine of a Ʉ200,000 shuttle.

Pro tip: The least-boring way to farm nanites is to start a fight with sentinels, but leave the triangular "summoner" one alive to spawn an endless supply of enemies, and just pick them off as they arrive [Information]

Then you just pick up the glowing green barrels they leave behind, looting salvageable glass from each, which almost always break down into sellable tech modules. The nice thing about the glass items is that they stack, so just hold off on breaking them down until you're ready to hit the space station/anomaly, that way you can pack your inventory to the gills with them.

Oh yeah, after 1,200 hours I finally realised you can sell tech modules to Iteration Ares on the anomaly. Saves you a separate trip to a space station, and it means you can summon it right in front of you whenever you wanna sell some modules, rather than potentially having to Pulse Engine your way across the map to a space station or whatever.

Struggling with finding decent multi-tools. Does anyone have any tips? [Question]

I've been searching old posts for tips on how to find S rank multi-tools, or really any alien or experimental multi-tools. A lot of the information is out of date.

I've managed to get two C-rank "Royal" tools from Sentinel pillars, but it seems everything else is either a basic gun or basic rifle. It's honestly rare that they have colors--usually they're just grey.

Where are the cool S rank tools? I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of multi-tool cabinets to no success here.

I've got a stack of coordinates set to hunt a better tool down. What is the best process? From my research it looks like flying to a planet -> finding a minor settlement -> pray it's A or S rank and repeat with another settlement if not is the best method?

I'm about to just eat the nanites and work on upgrading the C rank Royals.

Way to reclaim or delete my old base? [Question]

So recently I decided to completely restart No Man’s Sky and instead of using my brain and deleting my bases before I deleted the save, I just deleted the save. Anyways, I ended up wanting to live on the same planet so I had a buddy of mine help me get back there. I planned on making a base in the same spot but unfortunately my base from the old save is still there and marked as “habitable”, however, when I use the base computer it logs me in as a GUEST. There is a runaway mould cluster very close and I’d like to be able to delete or reclaim the base so I can make a farm for it.

I doubt it is possible, but is there a way I can reclaim it since it’s still tied to my account? Or if anyone has tips for a workaround, feel free to share.

quick question about multi tools [Question]

okay so for context i’m using a royal/exotic multitool. A class with 21 slots. right now i have the blaze javelin in it with both blueprints and 3 modules, but my damage potential hasn’t changed at all—in fact, the damage potential for my multitool is the same as it was before i even installed the blaze javelin. my multitools only seem to change dps potential if i use the bolt caster. just wanted to know if this was supposed to happen or not.

I just got a freighter for free - what now? [Question]

Just started playing the game two days ago, and to say I am a newbie is an understatement. I was on a delivery mission when I saw a freighter being attacked by pirates, so I kill all the pirates and the captain invites on board the freighter to give me a reward. The reward was the whole damn freighter (B class, but who cares it was free)!! So... what do I do with this thing? I had barely enough nanites to get one Frigate Squadron so I got that, and I made the fleet control room and hired a Frigate to join me.

Is this too soon to have a Freighter?

Is there a way to mark planets and systems so you can come back to them? I realize you can make a zillion bases but is that how you do it? It would be great if I could make some personal logs that have the planet and system built in so I could just sift through places of interest.

What's the best thing to do with broken ships found in the wild? [Question]

I really haven't played much since vanilla aside for a few hours here and there after a few major updates, so I am not sure what options are available for ships found that you can't repair (presumably for hours). 2 hours in, landing in second planet in the system, I randomly set down near a transmission tower. Found distress signal. Found ship. It's a decent class b hauler, but obviously, everything is broken. As it's a new character, repairing things beyond pulse/launch probably isn't possible.

So....with the game in its current version, what do I do with it?

Griefers at Void Egg Planet [Question]

Is it normal to griefers to stay on that planet and kill people who go there, or am I just very unlucky? Almost all my ship parts broke and I lost all the loot inside the ship and on me. Is there anything I can do to deal with griefers?

Got the game 2 days ago… just found a material worth 18 million in my inventory while trading and sold it all… what do I do now? [Question]

So I’m obviously new. Really positive experience so far. My goals and enjoyment from this game so far is full exploring each star system (visited 2 so far), in the search of a perfect world to build my base on. I also enjoy upgrading my ship and equipment, although I’ve barely done so.

I think someone may have some how given me a massive amount of credits??

Is this normal for players to do in the game? What would more experienced players recommend I do at this point… haha

Scanning/ mining not working [Question]

need some help. I'm using a controller on pc. I am using the official NMS controller layout on steam. my left trigger and right trigger aren't working to shoot/mine or scan. I know they work in the game because I can confirm building stuff with the right trigger. I checked the mapped buttons with * on foot * and it looked fine but they won't work in the game. any solutions?

PS4/5 transfer [Question]

So I recently started playing again on ps5 with my PS4 save, going through expedition too. But I recently busted out the psvr so have been playing PS4 version.

If I later down the line transferred the new PS4 save to ps5 will the expedition rewards (ps5 version before PS4 transfer) carry to the new transfer or do I have do it all over again on PS4 and transfer them both?

Tips for finding settlements? [Question]

So like title says need some help. I found one settlement but it's on a Aggressive Sentinel planet so fuck that.

I keep using charts in good systems with no aggressive sentinel planets and the chart just dissapears.

I also can't seem to abandon the settlement quest I already have.

Loot [Discussion]

This game needs endless diabloesque type loot and upgrades, way more enemy types, damage types, etc and increasing difficulty of enemies and available loot as you near the galaxy center. S A B C doesn't cut it. Everything else is procedural and practically infinite why not the loot grind?

Ground combat is boring. [Discussion]

Sentinels, multitool, and some hostile fauna. That’s all we get. We need more weapon variations, Like melee weapons, and maybe a multi tool revamp, and more hostile entities, such as pirates, but make them not annoying lol. Also some hostile bases, hostile and allied convoys, etc. Do y’all agree? I feel like it would make the game a little more vivid. I’m not the most creative person in the world but I think you can imagine different things they could include in a combat update. Side note, I’m not complaining, I know they work super hard and put out major updates really fast, just a future idea :)

Seeking: Outlaw Station with Crashed Frigate [Question]

One of the first Outlaw systems I visited after the Expedition was noteworthy as the station had a crashed frigate on its surface. I don't remember anything else about that system, but figured I could keep visiting Outlaw systems until I found another.

Which brings us to today: I've been wanting to build a Gek smuggler's den in an Outlaw system, and thought to distinguish the location by seeking out the frigate-fractured Station. Which is when I discovered that the frigate-fractured Station was less common than I'd hoped.

Has anyone else seen the Space Station design I'm referring to in a Gek-controlled system?

You can choose whether to do the Derelict Freighter there or the easy one at anchor point 3. Craft the flute and summon leviathan and you will no longer have to worry about dying.

Expedition base [Information]

I started the expedition today. Someone set up a very nice base titled something like "do 7 milestones quickly here". It's right next to a sentinel pillar.

I wanted to let you know it came up half buried in a hillside and most of the biodomes are now inaccessible.

Thanks for making it though. It saved my bacon today.

Delivering Cargo? [Question]

I played NMS when it first released and got out of it pretty quickly (no explanation needed here).

I’m looking to get back in but have a couple questions. I know frigates/freighters were added, so I’m curious how in-depth cargo delivering is? I’d love to just pick up and deliver cargo from place to place (doesn’t have to be a mission, just possible to do it in general). Is this something you can focus on in the game?

Question about survival mode [Question]

Hello!

First of all, i loved this game. Bought a xbox series s + game pass ultimate just to play this game and oh boy i've played.

I started as normal mode and i played 100 hours in two weeks (yeah, i have a problem ?) but after that amount of hours it got really "easy".

So i started a new game in survival mode (already died 2 times lol) but i've noticed something: every planet has Sentinels. This is a feature of survival mode?

Which Frieghter Is Bigger? [Discussion]

People always be asking what is the biggest freight Design there is. Now idk about y'all but there are 2 different freighters that take the spot as being the biggest out of all the others

Most people say Oculus is actually bigger then Sentinel and there right it is bigger.......by Width. If you compare a S class max storage Oculus and Sentinel frieghter together you will see that the Sentinel Design is way Longer then the Oculus but the Oculus has well like said before way more width.

Now which one is better? Honestly there pretty much the same all you need to do is simply upgrade it how ever you can.

Living Ship Quest, Am I beyond salvation? [Question]

so right after my singularity core matured, I had the encounter with the alien ship, I got my coordinates, to what I have learned via the internet, was to a portal, that would have take m to Ischel-Althu.

I, decided to be an idiot, and do other things, before I continued. I left the Galaxy, did many things over there, and now, back in the Euclid Galaxy, I cannot find, what system I was in, when I got the coordinates for the portal.

am I screwed? I warped 30 times, twords the coordinates, and still can't see the end of the quest trail in the galactic map 😭

Frigate Fuel bug that is the opposite of the usual [Bug]

Hi, I seem to have the opposite of the usual frigate fuel bug. I got the blueprints for making the 100 tonnes and 200 tonnes frigate fuel. But I can't access the Fleet Command room for debriefing my first ever frigate mission because it is stuck on the same option from before I sent out the mission.

Profile indicates no Frigate Fuel blueprints available... download?

Even though I already have the blueprints, it is infinitely giving me the blueprints again. Every time I select "Download Data" it just gives me the same screen of getting the blueprints and will not let me access the frigate for debrief.

Any ideas on what I should do?

If you were a Dev in charge with creating new NMS updates at Hello Games, what would you put in it? [Discussion]

If I have to be honest......

The ability to change controls/buttons in the settings.

I play Ace Combat and I absolutely love the flying controls there. So when I play on NMS, I love it too....I just don't like flying like a beginner AC pilot. It is nice and plays very similarly to Ace Combat, but I really wish I could just Roll my ship using the left stick instead of using the bumpers as it just feels more fluid when you get into those High G maneuvers in ship combat. Half the time, I'm just locking onto the ships with L2 and letting the ship fly itself as the controls feel too blocky the way it is now.

Likewise, the running button seems to be like southpaw controls, which isn't a big issue, but I'd still appreciate it if I could change it to fit my playstyle.

Another idea I have is...

Mandatory Co-oP, Raid-ish Missions

Imagine:

Polo and Nada find a signal leading to what remains of an iteration of the Space Anomaly Station, but it's Derelict. Alien flesh is growing all around it, the gate jammed open, holes punched out of the Metal Moon, and Monstrosity-controlled Ships patrol its orbit.

Nada wants you to investigate the nature of the Anomaly Station and figure out how it got infested. Cue a trip to the station with 4-5 Travelers on tow, burning through the infested ships and landing inside the Derelict Anomaly. From here, it's a fight for survival as you and your team must fight hundreds of monstrosities to the data center while also solving group puzzles to clear the way ahead and fight all the way back to your ships as one person has to lug a large data core back.

And as you fly out of the ship.... BOOM!

In warps in a Station-sized Monstrosity. Your and your team will have to take it down if you want to escape.

Or alternatively, it could also be inflitrating a Sentinel...

Coop Broken [Question]

Not sure if this is the best place to ask but I'm new to the game, keeping the bio fuel generator fuelled was annoying as I couldn't get in my container and I didn't have the research to get solar panels, didn't know where best to put the points. Anyway I thought after seeing that using trainers and stuff would have no effect on you I used wemod to help spawn a load of carbon to keep it running. Since then when I go to the anomaly everyone freezes as soon as i leave my ship and I can't see friends anymore as they dissappear and it says they left the system. I can still se all their stuff and fly with them in space and kill them from my ship while flying around a planet but as soon as I leave my ship thats it no more other players.

I'm at work atm so wo t be able to test stuff just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or similar experience

Quick question: On perma-death mode, are pirate spawns increased? [Question]

Yesterday I basically raged quite because literally EVERY time I left a station or planet and entered space 1-3 pirate ships would attack me. After I destroyed them not even 2min would pass and ANOTHER 1-3 pirates would attack me. It’s not even fun at this point.

Sometimes when I enter a new system pirates attack me even before the hyperdrive screen ends.

So I’m just curious because I just got back into the game 3 days ago after a 7 month hiatus and a lot has changed. +like I said I’m in perma-death mode.

So is this normal? A well addressed glitch? Or what I kinda suspect: increased pirates due to hardcore mode.

I checked the fandom wiki and nothing.

Does hardcore mode (in my case parma-death mode) spawn more pirates? [Question]

I’m playing perma-death right now. And to sum things up, I’m really f**king tired of each and every time I touch space for even a second, 1-3 pirates spawn and attack me. Going into orbit/space is so dammed tedious now that I’ve been using teleporters where I can and always summing the anomaly to escape the pirate swarms.

I don’t remember pirates being this bad when I last played 7 months ago on my normal mode character.

But now I’m attacked I swear literally every 90sec. It’s not fun anymore. If anything it’s extremely stressful cause if I die, that’s my 10hr character gone.

Audio loop bug on PS5 [Bug]

Hello All, posting here in the hope to have a fast answer... (posted en the weekly bug post)

Ps5 having a sound bug that have fucked all the game. I mean there is an audio in the background like "a beam of light from god" style. Not on some placeblike anomaly. Sometime in freighter. Sound is less powerfull inside a ship. But always here. I am in space ? Here. On a planet ? Here So at first i said my save is fucked.

I launch another save. Same thing !!

Wtf What should i do ? Reinstall completely the game on ps5 ? Will mybmain save carry over the process ? Hope someone have an answer or hellogame spot the thing abd patch my game please :)

More infos : if i remember it started with the nautile quest. Or juste before when you learn the 16 timer

Z letter on ships and vehicles [Suggestion]

I understand, that it is pretty cringe to cancel the letter, but I kinda cannot enjoy flying a ship while these Zombies are destroying my hometown with these letters on their tanks and etc... perhaps it is the time to finally add a ship customization menu to the game? Or remove it from ships? What does the Latin letter is doing in this universe at all?
