Question about multiplayer in the game [Question]

Mans a new player here so sorry if this is a dumb question.

Apparently its true that people can discover your planet and find your base (although the chances of this is obviously very rare)

Does this mean that you can also see them and be able to interact with them? Is the game basically a really big SMP?

Also how does joining friends work? If i join my friend does all my stuff carry over and any progress made on their session carry over to my own one?

Multi-Tool trade mistake? [Question]

I’m super new to the game and had recently bought some mods for my multi tool. I was out of slots so I figured more slots was the priority so I could install tech. I was at the space anomaly so I just exchanged mine for one in the shelf. It was still a C class but had double the space. It wasn’t until I was at the station buying goods that I realized I was like 800u short. I’m guessing it wasn’t a straight up trade my current too Callie just reduced the cost?

A Question From a Returning Player [Question]

I used to play NMS a lot back in the day since it had first came out, but had put it down for awhile & haven’t played it since they’ve been adding all of these cool updates to the game. I’ve recently started playing again after recently getting a new console/system & had a question:

So I’ve seen posts/responses to posts talking about helping new &/or returning players out by staying in Euclid galaxy & building “extracting bases.” I was wondering what are extracting bases & what are their importance? Are they just for extracting minerals/resources & leaving them behind for these new/returning players, or is it a sort of meet up spot used for helping new/returning players get to the other galaxies such as Eissentam, etc.?

I only ask because I plan on staying in Euclid for awhile & want to help out by building these bases if I can. Hope I’ve given enough details so someone might know what I’m taking about & could give me some help. Thanks in advance! :)

Crashed ship - should I scrap or repair? [Question]

I'm about 15hrs in, still learning the game and trying to figure out the logical way to go about upgrading everything (exosuit, ships etc). I have a stock Radiant Pillar. I've found an A Class Shuttle which has more slots but only marginally better stats than my RP. Should I scrap or repair this new-found ship? FWIW I have about 3 million units.

Also, I came across another crashed ship early on. I'm fairly sure I claimed it, but since I didn't know what to do with it I left it there. Any way to find it? I don't have a freighter so I'm not quite sure how to manage these ships without leaving them parked on a random planet 🙂

PS love the screenshots and the work people post here, really can't wait to see what this game can show me!

Camera turning on its own [Question]

Hey all, while playing through no mans sky for the first time in 2022 I have noticed that while moving around the planets, as well as even standing still in a space station my camera is turning on its own without any input. I am playing mouse and keyboard from the xbox app. If anyone has heard of this issue before or knows a fix please let me know!

Missing player bases? [Question]

Hey all! Soo I went through a portal to go to a specific planet, I landed and claimed a base there. Upon opening the teleporter I discovered around 20 or so other bases in the system that were made by other players that I could teleport to. Thought this was awesome and that I would take my time and try to visit all of them and I checked out quite a few. This was yesterday, today I open the game and try to continue my base visiting but this time the teleporter is showing me far less bases, maybe 7-8, and they are completely different bases from the ones I saw yesterday. I'm just wondering if this is supposed to happen? Do the player bases get refreshed after a certain period of time? Is there a way to permanently save a player base so that I could visit them again someday? Thanks for any help!

Main Base - Freighter vs Planet [Question]

Hi all, I setup my first base with prefabs to get the construction overseer started. I’m near a settlement, which I’ve gotten to class B. The problem is there are no sentinels, objects of value, or interesting creatures on this planet, it was the second planet I visited (new by the way). I got my first freighter and wondering if people typically find more enjoyment from having their base located on a freighter or a planet? I feel very tied down to my system since my base is there and I always need to go back for something. Are there drawbacks to a mobile home? Settlements seem fun at first, but they lack a certain progression that makes it feel enjoyable.

How to get an S class capital ship? [Question]

So I followed a few instructional posts and they dint seem to be working. I played 3 hours. And then started warping. Auto saving at space stations every time. The battle triggered. This is where everyone says to reload your auto save because now whenever you warp there will be a battle.... but there wasn't. What did I do wrong?

Rockridge Keep [Build]

On the unassuming planet of Eeph sits Rockridge Keep. Perched atop Mount Ba'ku, it overlooks a portal that can be used to travel to virtually anywhere in the Euclid galaxy as long as the correct glyphs are known. The candlelit stone building's drafty rooms are more than made up for by thick, luxurious carpets and warm fur bedding. The stairways may be dark and winding, but the view from the spacious courtyard is unbelievable. During your stay here, you will feel like royalty.

But Rockridge also hides a secret.

On the other side of the mountain is the Ansascit-Tezes Auto-Constructor, which appears from the outside to be a standard factory, except it is guarded by mysterious Sentinels. Several high resolution scans have shown unusual power output. Large, unmarked containers are sent out, always in the dead of night. These shipments have been tracked to various military outposts which have been encroaching on peaceful settlements. A search of one crashed and abandoned ship showed signs of siege weapons as well as unknown technology.

Hidden in the cliffs above the factory, Rockridge hosts a hi-tech observation station that is monitoring and relaying information about weapons production and shipments. The latest cloaking technology makes the site invisible to the Sentinel's scanners, while allowing allies to easily locate it. Powerful AI running on multiple servers is analyzing weapons shipment locations in an attempt to determine the end-game plans of the Sentinels.

Encrypted messages have recently been intercepted, which suggests the tech being manufactured in the station can be modified for personal use either in an Environment Suit, or a Multitool. A raid on the base is being planned soon.

What happens next is up to you.

There’s a big to keep quicksilver after using it [Information]

Not sure if it’s public knowledge, but just found this out while save scumming for a S tier freighter. If you buy something with quicksilver and the game had auto saved prior to the purchase, you can leave the anomaly and then go back to the auto save. You’ll still have your purchase and your quicksilver

How do I tether power from a generator outside of my base limits? [Question]

I cannot figure out how to run power from a hotspot that is a little too far away from my base computer.

I have seen multiple posts and tutorials on how to do this but they all seem outdated like maybe these are exploits that have been patched.

For example, there are plenty of tutorials explaining how to daisy chain and extend your base perimeter by placing down a component at the edge, placing another a distance away, rinse and repeat. Doesn't seem to work anymore.

Another tutorial explained how you can have two separate base computers (one for the base and one for the power) and that somehow you can toggle the wiring to "belong" to your base computer... this does not seem possible anymore or at least not obvious on PS4.

If this concept is simply not possible now with the current version I just want to know so I quit trying 😂

I have a Sentinel-class freighter, 30 slots, but I hate the look... Should I trade down and upgrade along the way? [Discussion]

I currently have a 30 slot, 3-segment Sentinel-class. I really love the look of the Hammerhead-class, but I can't find one with more than 17 slots (I've been porting around, saving, and reloading all day).

The benefit of my hard day's work is that I'm very familiar with which type of freighters spawn, where and how often. I can predict with 90% accuracy what I'll see when I warp into 1 of 3 systems. Also, I'm no longer consuming hyper fuel because I'm porting between space stations. I also discovered that I can recolor my freighter after buying the color for 5,000 nanites (super cool).

So my experience today wasn't entirely fruitless. But, the question remains, can I absolutely work my way up to 30ish slots in upgrades if I trade down to a smaller class? My Sentinel is worth 50 mil so there are very few freighters out of reach financially.

Bonus question: Am I an idiot for abandoning my unit of a freighter for a smaller one? I mean, it's all preference right? I guess I'm the only one who really cares.

I'm very interested to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences

I caught a taxi to the galactic core, I cannot warp out of it. [Question]

So I got a taxi to the core before I ever even got a hyperdrive. So I built a base, and went and got the hyperdrive, I filled it up, but when i go to the galaxy map it will not show any lines at all.

Do I need a better hyperdrive? Do I have to progress to a certain point in the story? What am I doing wrong?

need help! [Question]

so I started the Starbirth mission, the once I activated the void egg and followed the hexite signal, nothing there. so like a lot of people who play this game I quit for a week or so lol. basically I forgot completely about the mission and warped towards the galactic core, now I cannot find the source of hexite or find it anywhere. I have checked all inventories and nothing. Is this the only way to get living ships? and if so, is there any other way I can obtain hexite?

A small problem with ship combat [Suggestion]

It's not very engaging, because the combat is too easy. I've gotten to the max level of wanted in space, and taken down 3 motherships without dying. I've died 12 times, 10 of which are from my friend killing me, one from accidentally uninstalling my radiation module in an extremely radioactive planet, and one from the attacks of the biological horrors magically stacking their attacks (at times the attack does like 20x the normal damage). Never once have I died in a ship. The flying is also super basic, which isn't very engaging, and I get that not everyone can fly like in Star Citizen or Elite, but this is just too simple. Landing doesn't feel satisfying, because it's so automated. And being in your ship when fighting literally any ground enemies basically functions as a safehouse. You also don't seem to operate the ship components, probably cuz of the fact that the ships are procedural, but making the ships procedural in the first place is a much more difficult task. Also, NMSVR has a fully polished version of what I'm suggesting, except the arms, which is probably the main problem when doing this. They twist and turn like fusilli. Also, a traversable ship interior, but that's really difficult. Elite Dangerous devs said engine limits (excuse) but in this case that's probably the truth. Anyways, I hope there's a little more to it some day.

Texture problems on Xbox Series S [Bug]

Good morning to all,

is anyone experiencing texture loading problems on Xbox Series S recently?

Because they started abrutply to load in a ridicolous amount of time, underlying polygons are loaded without textures and after a couple of minutes the textures are loaded but are blurred.

I already tried to reinstall the game, to hard reset the console and play on cloud (Game pass ultimate), but even in the cloud I have the same issue. Even switching to high quality video mode to performance one, unblocking and blocking frame rate and activating / deactivating motion blur don't resolve the issue.

Anyone can help? No man sky is the only game affected by this issue, so I may exclude is a hardware problem.

Are all ships just the same? [Question]

Hello people

I’m a little new to this game. I’m basically at the point where I have enough units to start looking for a decent ship and multi-tool.

But I need a little clearification.

Besides looks and type, are all ships fundamentally the same? Can I upgrade all ships to be equally good and have an equal amount of slots? All within one type og ship of course

Likewise with multi-tools. Is there any difference, or is it just looks?

I realise that it costs ressources to upgrade, but I am refering to potential underlaying/fundamental values.

Question about moving to the "end" of the game [Question]

Hello, I'm a fairly new player. I've been grinding this game like crazy the past couple days, and I'm at the point of the main missions/quest telling me to go to the galactic core. I only started playing this game recently, but with how much coverage this game has had over the years, I already kinda know what happens when you get there. I know it will take a considerable amount of time to get there, and im not even close, but I'm wondering if I should start grinding for better ships/freighters/etc. I have an okay stash of resources and a smallish base, but I'm not rich or anything.

Should I start making my way to the core and just go with the flow from there? Or should I focus on system station missions and trying to get more money?

Extra Companion Egg? [Question]

Anyone have a extra Companion egg from something cool like a Dino, Robot, Mogara? I don't really have any cool eggs to trade for it. I'll have a dragonfly like animal egg and a ??? like animal egg in like an hour and a half though. I'm fairly new to the game and companions. I don't really have the time to hunt down something specific unfortunately. Picture of something similar to the ??? looking creature egg I'll have. Nope, I’m not “feeling” the game on my 2’nd normal save. I’m going survival…. [Discussion]

😂 I’m hopeless… this is my second attempt on normal and I feel that I just roll over the game like it’s nothing and it makes me ignore the content. I’m doing the same thing as the first time.

I can’t help to max out storages of valuable things, become op before even hunting down that Artemis guy and Apollo whatever dude that seems to be a jerk, snag a s class or exotic like it’s nothing, build some kind of super base after 10 hours, and just getting spoilt with everything.

But Don’t spoil me on the story/quests because I want to have another go at this. And I want to FEEL it this time. I want to read every bit of information like it’s a matter of life and death. I want to depend on those simple pair buildings that you just ignore after 5 hours of normal game mode. Yep… this time it’s survival, the restriction in materials will be what helps me (force me to avoid braking the game)

At least I think so…. I’ll get back to you on that… thanks for a great community btw.

Ten storage rooms on a freighter feels so broken [Discussion]

And that's not a complaint, I just think it's funny. If I want to get one extra slot on my main freighter storage I have to jump through hoops to either buy access to or find a derelict freighter and expend both time and resources going through it.

Or I can just build rooms for cheap resources and instantly get dozens of storage slots.

something i dont understand about the NMS reddit community and game [Discussion]

There are people, like me, who spend hours and weeks building these huge intricate and beautiful bases, who only get acknowledged by maybe 50-180. but someone posts a single screenshot of a ringed planet that reddit's seen 1k times, or a companion, or just whatever simple post, and people eat that shit up to 3 and 4k. do i need to remember most people are simple and easy to satisfy?

the other thing i dont understand about nms is the scale at which players do things. it's like why create all those buildings to make the ai valves? to give them away? i mean youre rich, can make anyone else rich, im sure your nanites are to the same stature of production. so im just confused. people do build, but they mostly build manufacturing and farming facilities? to sell themselves, give to others to sell.... then you need cash for nothing. never strapped. never incapable of any purchase.

honestly i think what this game needs is some rare with rng. like collectibles or super strong modules.... that you have .5% obtaining, in a new type of planet site. with other commons, uncommons, rares ect.

because at 200 hours, its largely the same thing. im creating a very aesthetic build, something for me, and sure i'll share it. but beyond this, the ideas are limited to me. explore? craft food? craft end-game parts? create more efficient farms? things still seem finite imo.

Ok I am having serious issues with finding a decent freighter. [Question]

I've followed several guides now on how to keep spawning freighter battles and none of them work. I followed them to a T so it is that theu no longer are working. Start traveling around system to system saving at space stations along the way.

Battle appears. Your last save was at a system right before a battle appears. You now can use this save to travel to hundreds if not thousands of different systems to find the freighter you want in a freighter battle (This no longer works, the battle dissappears after a reload and a warp) Once you find the freighter you want, you avoid the battle and go to that systems station and create a save. Now you keep playing that save over and over until you get the MEGA S class freighter of your dreams (This doesn't work either, after reload the battle is gone)

The battles reset when you reload a save. Period. This no longer works. Also. When you step out of your ship at the end if a freighter battle, to check the class and storage if the freighter. That overwrites the autosave. Many guides says it doesn't but I see it every time I've stepped off onto a freighter.

Does anyone know of an actual way to do this? They either gave an update that blocks thos way of doing things or the tutorials are wrong. I followed them perfectly.

I’m experiencing a glitch on the potential scientist recruit mission. [Discussion]

So I’ve gotten to the point in the game where I have built a science research desk or whatever and was told to go find a science recruit but when I follow the icon to the specific station where I’m supposed to meet this scientist and I get out of my ship, all of a sudden the icon is sitting out in the middle of space like 700 units past the edge of the dock. Any idea what all this is about? Also I should mention, I have tried switching the missions to the secondary mission that is actually titled recruited a scientist versus the expanding the base mission, but it makes no difference.

A question about Eissentam [Question]

I finished the Atlas missions but when I got to the part where I could choose a new galaxy, I got scared and left. Now I understand that I can't do it again? That means I have to go to the center of the galaxy. But can I choose Eissentam if I'm going to the center of Euclid? I hate so much that everythink will be broken after travelling to a new galaxy but I want to know if I still have that option. Eissentam looks really cool.

What do you people recommend for unit farming? [Question]

I have heard of a few different money farming methods (namely cobalt flipping) but I'm not sure what I should be doing if I want to actually play the game. I have a good ship with an Emeril drive, but I haven't unlocked glyphs yet (what questline unlocks them? I've already gone through a portal once during the story but I forget when). Please give me incentive [Suggestion]

I was a regular player for a long time (before they had living ships) and I had about 1,500hrs into the game and my 3yr old unplugged my ps4 and completely wiped my data. I still love the concept of the game but every time I try to play again I just feel burnt out and upset that I have to completely start over. I've got about 20hrs back in but it feels like trying to pull teeth just to play. Please give some motivation to continue, I really need it.

Gene sequencer not working? [Question]

Has anyone else ever had the gene sequencer not turn out the results it's supposed to? I just hatched an egg from one of my pets, gave it a full dose for size increasing, but the offspring is smaller than it's parent. Bug, or something I'm missing somehow perhaps?

Reload time? [Question]

I'm just about to finish up the atlas missions so I can start portal jumping. First on the list is to acquire an experimental or alien multi-tool. What I'm wondering about is getting to a minor settlement and not locating the multi-tool I want. It's my understanding that you just keep reloading the game until the one you are after pops. Well my reloads on ps4 take something like 2-3mins. Is there a better way to reload which gun is in the case?

industrial frigates always getting damaged [Question]

every time is send my industrial frigates they get damaged, it doesn't matter what difficulty or mission type, they are the only type of frigate that have ever gotten damaged during a mission so far even when I sent C class traders on a high difficulty mission they came out fine. why is this happening

Anyone have a NMS dream? [Discussion]

I tend to play with varying degrees of attention a few nights a week, usually catching up on podcasts after work. I hadn’t played for a couple days and I had this dream where I was in a random house with a bunch of people partying in the other room. I just wanted to rest so I went outside and I found myself on a planet similar to one of the viridecent planets with glowing blue grass. I walked down the hill beside the house and laid down in it with a sleeping bag. Little squatty electric jellyfish were moving about the grass. It was so relaxing. Some people started walking up and I remember burrowing into my sleeping bag peeking out at them, hoping they wouldn’t notice me. Not the first time I’ve dreamt of how peaceful sleep is, but my first nms inspired dream.

First traveller, null the stranger. Bug or my error? [Question]

I am a newly returned player after a long break, and am relearning. Had the quest ‘The First Traveller Mission, Null the stranger’ so thought I’d get some progression on that. The objective that is failing is charge the glyph to discover the sequence for this planet… it says that no matter which planet I’m on in whichever galaxy. Am I supposed to be at/charge a specific planet/portal? Because I’ve completed “return to space, contact Apollo” and that was a while ago. I’ve done what I thought completed objective 2 by charging a portal and learning the glyphs of a planet. But the objective doesn’t tick off or progress. I’ve now charged two different portals in different systems and learned the glyphs and still, the mission won’t progress. When I open the galaxy map whilst this quest line is active it defaults to a route to a black hole? Is this a specific black hole I need to travel through to find the specific planet with the specific portal I have to learn glyphs and charge etc? I am getting a little frustrated. Any help is appreciated. I’ve been trying to do this for days and it’s really putting me off the game so I hope it something simple I’m missing. The portals are charged, the glyphs are learnt. The log continues to say “activate the portal to learn the glyphs for Apollo” and won’t change. Regardless of where I a, the the multiverse. I am on ps4. I’ve got no idea where my original base is, because it’s been so long since I’ve played this game.

Colonizing Uninhabited Systems [Suggestion]

In theory, it’s a very similar concept to a settlement, but on a larger, more complicated scale. You’d have to build a space station, decide which race you want to colonize it (each coming with their own perks and drawbacks) or choosing a “balanced” system where it doesn’t particularly excel at anything, but it doesn’t have any huge weaknesses either. From there you would want to focus on building the economy and keeping the combat level manageable etc etc. I don’t have all the details planned out; just some thoughts in the early hours of the morning after a long night of playing.

If you have any ideas on how this could work, I’d love to hear them!

Spaceship Changed Color?? [Bug]

So I've been flipping ships as I go, and normally I don't involve my main ship but I made a mistake and had to switch ships around. Anyway, I went on a different game save for a bit but when I went back my main ship went from red with yellow stripes to just yellow. I'm shook, I hate the new color and I can't figure out how to get it back (tried reloading and exiting the save file). Has this happened to anyone?

Planet Side Navigation [Discussion]

So i'm a new player and was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't any kind of in game map for planet surfaces (or if there is I can't find it). Granted in a galaxy of billions of systems, one planet surface is probably a drop in the bucket, but i'm still curious. What methods do you all use to navigate notable planets and they're surface locations? Just base computers and save beacons? Or are there other means?

Harvesting Larval Core's [Question]

I watched a recent YT vid from SurvivalBob where he built walls around one "clump" of eggs, used the usual tunnel into the ground method to harvest those three, then flew out of the box and harvested the rest of the cores. All the Horrors were trapped inside the box, because those were the first ones he harvested.

When I tried this there was alway one that forced it's way through a wall and attacked me? Is there something I'm missing with this method?

I made the box as big as possible. I even reloaded and watched what was happening from the safety of the roof to see where it forced it's way out. I then built an extra "room" beyond that point to re-trap it. Didn't work! They keeping getting out.

I thought it might be an interesting alternative nanite farming method. I like changing things up to keep in interesting.

New player, have some questions (minor spoilers for first 15-20 hours of playing time) [Spoiler]

Hi all,

Just started playing the game this past week and I'm totally overwhelmed... In a good way!

I have a bunch of questions and I'm hoping you guys can help. I should mention I'm playing on Xbox Series S on GamePass.

First, I read online that at a certain point in the game you will be offered a free freighter, but to turn it down because you will get offered a better one later and can also get it for free. I did this and received 200 chromium metal instead of a ship... Seems fair haha. Anyways, when will I get another chance to rescue a freighter? I've been warping around trying to find one to no avail.

This kind of leads in to my next question about inventory. How should I manage my inventory? I've been buying inventory slots at space stations, but my inventory is always full. When it comes time to craft components, I need to toss away resources to open space. Are there elements and minerals I can get rid of early game? I feel like everything will have its uses, but do I need to hoard everything? And I haven't found an easy way to craft. Let's say I want to make a warp core. As I understand, I need 3 inventory slots: one to make antimatter, one to make a container and a third to make the warp core. This seems really tedious/inefficient. Is this the way to craft?

Next, I think I have a glitched mission. It's called, "A Planet in Distress" and basically there's a distress signal coming from "system A" . But when I warp to system A, the game says the signal is in another system and when I check my map, it's in "system B" right next to system A. So I travel to system B, but then the mission moves to system A. Any idea what's happening?

Next, when is it worth it to repair multi-tools or ships? I found a crash site from a Planetary Chart with an A rank multi-tool and ship. Tool has like 20 slots but will...

Missing Mats from my refiners [Question]

Seems if I don't visit my refiners for a day or two they end up empty. I know I left chlorine working in them, but the chlorine, oxy and resulting chlorine are all gone. I know someone might have come behind me and borrowed them, but it seems like they time out after awhile and you lose anything you don't come back to. Anyone else know about this or experience this?

Playing since a few weeks, here is my experience [Discussion]

A few months back, I wanted to play NMS only to find out it requires Vulkan and having a bad laptop didn’t help one bit. Luckily, cloud gaming reached my country and can play it now. Once my last pay appeared on my account I decided to buy it. And I don’t regret it 1 bit.

I haven’t finished the story still. I have been mostly playing survival solo and normal with a friend (who I convinced to get it on the PS4). We mostly mess around and try stuff and explore together. He is on the final mission of the story and finished obtaining the glyphs, I am a bit behind.

Yesterday exploring a random planet I found a minor settlement selling drop pod coordinate data, 24 in total. We bought it all and went on a hunt to increase the number of slots on our exo suits, sharing locations so we take full advantage of it (we noticed that if any of us completed the items for it, we both could claim it). We did a few on different planets, exploring and cataloguing as we went along.

It has been fun, exploring looking for views and resources, checking ships to buy, starting to build bases (yesterday only I started to Play around with base building), unlocking blueprints and improving our equipment, doing trade routes for profit.

I don’t care if there is no grand end game that I can unlock, all I care is that it is fun and a great experience to have joined as a traveler.

Looking for a Bioluminecent planet [Question]

Hi guys, recently I went on a quick nexus mission and ended up finding a planet with Bioluminecent flora / fauna / plant life which I loved. The way it light up the fields at night time and along the water was amazing and so, I'd love to build a base on it, but, its loaded with player bases and players coming in and out and it causes my console to crash 😅

Multi tool cabinet suddenly changing class? [Question]

Earlier today I got incredibly lucky to have stumbled upon a minor settlement with an S-class multi tool cabinet containing a sweet alien pistol. However, before buying it, I went to save/reload on other planets in the system to see what else might spawn. Somewhere along the way, the cabinet starting only loading B-class multi tools. When I saved and reloaded on the planet, the alien multi tool was gone, just giving me an ugly B-class pistol.

Is this some kind of known bug? Is there a way to make it produce S-class tools again?

No Man's Sky VR intermittent stuttering [Question]

When I am playing, the game will intermittently but randomly stutter. It's ever so slight, not game-breaking or ruining, but enough to catch my attention. What could be causing this? What settings do you guys run on? I am running SteamVR straight through the oculus softwares desktop function, could it be something in my SteamVR settings?

anyone ever find a planet that says no planetary fauna in the discovery tab, but there are fauna. and when you scan them it just has loads of ????? instead of words for their description? got a screen shot on the box and could find portal cords with a hard enough search if anyone wants to see. if it's a thing that happens intentionally it's not worth the effort tho.

Activated Indium farm question [Question]

I have a small indium farm setup that generates about 24000 activated Indium in 7 hours. It seems to me that it is worth more money to refine my activated Indium into 4 chromatic metal, because it is worth slightly more. Is this true? Is there anything else I should do with my A. Indium?

Edit: Also should I just place my mineral extractors on top of each other in sets of 4? The wiki says 4 is the limit before diminishing returns.

Question about discovering new ships/freighters [Question]

Hi guys, pretty new player (about 60 hours in the last 2 weeks) and I'm confused about class and ships in general. I seem to keep landing myself with class C ships, mostly ugly-looking haulers that are smaller than my current fighter - again, a class C. Do I need to travel further from my starting location to find better ones?

Also what does class actually mean? For nanites you can upgrade the class of your current ship, but why would I ever want to? Does it increase base stats and size and stuff? I just can't see it being worthwhile.

Another slightly off-topic, but if I want to upgrade my freighter that has extra storage rooms/space, I assume I'd lose those extra rooms and all the items in them if I traded up?

My rant into the void. [Discussion]

I'm a relatively new player, but I've done the main story, base building, got an exotic ship, millions in the bank, etc etc.. I've checked off enough boxes to get the gist of what this game has to offer. So let me preface this with the fact I do love this game, and I love it even more knowing it came from humble beginnings with a dedicated team behind it.

Look, I understand no game is going to 100% satisfy every single customer - it's an impossible task. But NMS is the closest any has come (for me, anyway) since Star Wars Galaxies. Where SWG failed - it failed hard. Hence it's demise. But it did a lot of things absolutely right. NMS isn't SWG, nor should it aim to be. But I see a vast open world with little to do after you've crossed off the usual "to-do's" that we see here. And it's just a rinse repeat when you're done.

There is no economy and thus no reason to really craft or trade except to get rich. Okay I've refined cobalt into oblivion and now I have more than I'll ever need. On to nanites. Okay I got all the upgrades I'll ever need. On to quicksilver.. okay I've got all the rainbow jetpacks and what-not I'll ever need. So we get together and build bases, but what for? To marvel at and start over? To refine and grind until you have so much crap that you're just giving stuff away in the anomaly? There is no economy.

Solutions? Well they may be a double edged sword - but with a "world" as big as this - I can't imagine any of them would devastate the game, or even change it for the person who doesn't want it changed. Guilds. And not the quasi-guilds that we see operate off-game. I mean actual halls with rank, order, etc.. all established in-game. Professions. Yeah I get it - you can do whatever you want. But no one has a role. Everyone ends up doing the same things to get ahead. There's no reason to want to master any one thing. Your gear is the only thing separating you from...

Settlements [Question]

So, I just found my first settlement completely by accident this morning when I was doing a delivery mission to progress the Artemis quest line. I am curious about some stuff because I built my first building for it, which was a landing pad, and I am now currently in about 140k(?) debt for that settlement. I have tried searching up ways to reduce that debt, but all I have seen is people saying “expand the base,” “upgrade the class of the colony,” and “add in new buildings.” Which doesn’t really help me at all with what I’m trying to do. I also play on pc if that helps at all.

I have also seen that there is a 4 hour wait time to construct a new building as well, but I’m not exactly sure where to go and build a new building other than through the overseer’s office possibly.

I want to use this game as a VR flight simulator. Will it do the job? [Question]

I played a decent amount of star wars squadrons and absolutely loved it. I loved the controls of the ships, and it actually felt like managing every single aspect of it (engine, weapons, shield, power, etc.)

However that game is purely combat focused, and I'm looking for a chill flight simulator experience, potentially to be played with a throttle and stick. Something to be spending time with just roaming around, enjoying good spaceship travel.

Does this game have any decent spaceship controls? Or does it feel like moving the analog stick around and that's pretty much it? Hope my question is clear enough.

I read somewhere on here a few weeks back that the arrangement of the tech would change the potential output stats. So I knew I needed one of these as I am forever picking up base pieces. However, anytime I go at access this it just simply says inventory full. No I know that is just not true. I took the time to open up every slot I have available and I do mean all of them, I spent hours chasing drop pods so that I had plenty of cargo space for these suckerz. So don't tell me that a completely empty inventory isn't enough room. Can anyone explain why I can access this item?

Are the base building missions still broken? [Bug]

I’ve gone through my scientist’s questline completely, but I never got the blueprint for circuit boards. I’ve tried rebuilding his station and moving my base to another system, but it’s still broken. It won’t let me continue with the overseer without the blueprints, so I’m stuck.

I’ve read a lot of forum posts about this exact problem, but all of them are 2 or 3 years old. Is this something that was never fixed?

Why isn't my target sweep gadget working? [Question]

I've seen videos of people setting a mission to locate resources from the log screen, and then using the target sweep to locate them. Whenever I try to do this, the target sweep visor says "no active mission" or something like that, and doesn't do anything. Am I doing something wrong, or does it just not work like that anymore? I appreciate any help – I haven't been able to find anything I need to progress my base items and it's killing me!

Love 'no man's sky' but currency is an issue [Discussion]

Picked the game up game up again on PC since I last played on ps at launch and at 1.5. Actually enjoyed it back then but wouldn't have ranked it in a triple a title.

Absolutely blown away, now playing on VR which is spectacular.

But I still see they haven't sorted the currency issue, where with a few upgrades to you gun (won't mention them). You can basically get unlimited money in a few minutes.

I will say when you start out it feels like you will never be able to afford anything. But disappointing all the same when you go from being broke to having a shitload of cash.

Do feel bad the devs aren't increasing profits from latest updates as it now feels like they made sequels and made mashed it into the same game. Hello games for sure revitalized their name.

How do I transfer save data from the PS5 edition to the PS4 edition? [Question]

My issue is a bit unique as I am trying to play the PS4 edition on my PS5. This is because for some reason, certain PS5 games crash my PlayStation including nms. I don’t mean just “oh the game crashed, let me start it again”, I mean that it literally turns my PlayStation off, and to start it again I have to unplug the power source for the console and plug it in again. This thing never happens with PS4 edition games though. So to play it I redownloaded the PS4 version, except now I can’t use my 60-hour save. Is there a way to fix my problem?

Portal issues [Question]

I'm ultimately looking to get to that planet that has all 16 of the glyphs on it that someone posted recently that only needs the first 2 to be discovered.

The issue i have is I have got the first 2 but when I go to a portal and I power it up, and select activate portal, it doesn't give me the option to dial (it just dials a portal automatically).

How do I get the dial screen? Does it have to do with my progress in the Artemis mission quest? Does the free dial of the portal get locked out if you pass a certain point of the Artemis quest?

I'm currently sitting in the Exchange screen, so the pilot won't leave, at a space station holding my first (potential) exotic ship purchase. I'm really new to the game, so I have a question: Should I take all my cargo and stuff out of my old ship before I hit "Exchange"? I figured I'd ask for any advice before I do this. I've always loved the "idea" of this game. When it came out in 2016 I think it was. But after hearing so many bad reviews I avoided. Now I'm hearing nothing but great things about this game so I purchased it and I'm just waiting for it to download to begin my journey into space! Storage augs [Question]

Some beautiful soul gifted me like 15 starship storage augments when I was only a mere ten hours in….today I found my first s class exotic and was able to deck it out a bit, but it got me wondering-where can i grind to stack these deep for future ships? Are the games modes separated in the universe… [Question]

For example. If I run in to a player (unlikely), will that player be on same mode as I am?

If i land on a discovered planet/system, will that have been discovered by a player playing the same mode as I am?

If I am in the anomaly, will the players there be on the same mode as I am in?

Let’s say Euclid as a good example. I am in Euclid on survival, so every one playing the same time as me that are in Euclid are also on Survival mode?

Lost all ships and ship upgrades [Bug]

So I went to one of the system with a wave 1 exotic spawn to farm a few inventory upgrades.

I switched to offline mode and bought and scrapped a few exotic ships.

Then I went back on my main ship and noticed that substantially it had been re-rolled. The maximum storage capacity dropped from 30 to 25. All the upgrades and technologies I had disappeared and the maximum damage was definetly less. The class also changed from A to B

I switched back online mode, I went then to my base and to my orror I realized all my other ships where whiped out.

WTF

Did anyone experience something like this? any hope of recovery? My last manual save was days ago :(

Hacking [Question]

What’s the best way to report a hacker, I recently found out that one of my neighbors on my planet is using cheats to get materials, buried technology modules, pretty much anything, I have more than double the time than he does but in the span of 20 minutes he had spent well over 150,000,000 units and built one of the most advanced bases I’ve seen, keep in mind he only has about 30 hours on the game, and can’t even access the nexus missions yet.

Idea: Freighter Show and Tell. Anyone interested? [Suggestion]

So, after realizing that I've recently spent way too much time decorating my interior freighter base (on my last expedition character), when no one is ever going to be able to really see it, I had a thought.

What if we set up a time for anyone with complex, interesting, or just fun freighter builds that they want to show off, to show up at one of the featured bases from the Nexus?

That way characters/saves without a full set of glyphs could still visit and participate.

Lost starship [Question]

I just started making my first underwater base through the main mission, I noticed the wrecked starship first before the marine shelter and claimed it off impulse. I think I already had 6 starships (planned on eventually flipping those) and a message popped up saying if I wanted my old starship I need to to return to it before I leave. Problem is I couldn’t summon it so I left to my base and I was able to summon the one I found underwater. After I did a little digging I read I would have to repair the ship. Instead I repaired the main components needed and sold it from a space station for scrap, checked to see if I could summon my ship and I couldn’t still, so my ship is on a rock in the middle of an ocean somewhere. I even tried to fly around the planet before I left and couldn’t find it. I guess I’m screwed? That was the first ship I actually purchased and upgraded fully. Sucks but it’s replaceable

PSA: Don’t make two bases with the exact same name in the same planet [Information]

Not sure if this has happened to anyone but I have a nomenclature I use for my mine bases where I name then like {resource}{class}, so I happened to find two Activated Indium hot spots class B in the same planet and created two bases and named them the exact same, when I went back to gather the resources, only one showed up on the list of “your bases”, fortunately I was able to fly to the other base and thought I had forgotten to upload it. But when I did some of the base resources disappeared, (e.g. the door to my room disappeared and I couldn’t get out or place another door) so I reloaded my auto save, noticed the duplicate name, I changed the base name and all was fine. Dumb bug but also dumb error on my part. 🤪

How do I find Crystal Sulphide? [Question]

I've already read the wiki and googled this a lot, so I know it's found in the underwater vents, usually marked by a mineral bar on my analysis visor.

However, I've spent a bit now swimming around my ocean planet, flying to different spots, etc. without any luck. If it's this hard to find, my dreams of an underwater base on an ocean planet are rapidly dying.

Is crystal sulphide found on every planet with oceans?

Is it a resource thats shown in the planet's [c] scan while flying in the solar system?

Is it only found around certain stars?

Hlep. I'm struggling.

Missing starships [Discussion]

Has anyone else had their entire fleet of starships vanish? Was playing with a new player friend of mine and wanted to give them a leg up. I gave them a bunch of AI and they went about buying and scrapping ships for the tech modules to sell. After some time we noticed every ship he scrapped would say that it was mine. After we noticed we parted ways and now I have no ships other than the one I was using. That ship is completely broken (lost most of it tech, added some tech I didn't have. Lost all of it's Inventory and even some available tech slots)

Just had a black hole random event happen! [Information]

OK so I was exploring a system and on my way to one of the further out planets, comma I dropped from from my pulse drive to pick up some tridium because the system was chock full of asteroids. And soon as I drop a black hole appears in front of me and I've been in this system a good little bit today exploring it it definitely not a black hole system definitely you know didn't see a black hole on the Galaxy map when I looked at the Galaxy map with it sitting in front of me., So I decide alright why not let's go into this black hole it puts me out in front of a planet that says it has an "imminent core detonation", I am going to go explore this planet because I have never heard of one before!

Need a lot of money fast? Just crash the economy [Discussion]

I used to spend a lot of time finding Activated Indium hotspots close to electromagnetic hotspots. Or refining Cobalt or finding Ancient bones. I really needed money because I spent a lot of money buying detectors for Derelict freighters. I remembered about the economy crash and I just tried it. Works on NMS 3.75.

I warped into a system with advanced economy, landed in the space station and started buying a lot of cobalt from people that landed in the space station. Made 10 stacks of 9999 cobalt and walked to the Galactic Trade Terminal. Sold all my cobalt and bought it back much cheaper. Teleported into another space station, sold the cobalt again and bought it back. Then another space station. I made 500 millions in 15 minutes I think. Going for a billion. It's so much faster for me than selling the Activated Indium from farming (I get like 150 millions after a day).

Game crash after death. [Bug]

I have recently been doing nexus missions, which take you to different system, and have often had the game bug out and insta-die, and my game immediately crashes, counting as a log out, which removes death markers, and I am not is the same system as nexus missions are counted as multiplayer games, which don't save positions, so in total I have lost probably 5 inventories of item to this, and I am starting to get annoyed..... Frigate in my fleet with distress alarm won’t stop [Question]

I have an S class trade galleon frigate in my fleet which was under attach. I was just putzing around in the area an a few dangerous pirate ships came into the area. I quickly blew them up but this thing won’t stop alarming. I’ve landed on it, collected a little money it happened to have (never knew that was possible) and went to the stations in it but nothing was servicable.

Question about the end of Artemis storyline [Question]

My current quest is called "The Purge," and it's telling me to go towards the galactic core. I chose to seek the final interface. I've already finished the atlas questline by creating a new star I think. The space anomaly still shows up as a main quest, even though it basically tells me to do the other quest. How do I go about going to the galactic core? There's no way I can just hyperdrive there manually. Do I go through a bunch of black holes?

So... as a new (returning) player I have to say, the questlines are kind of a mess. [Discussion]

I'm currently at then end of the Apollo questline and I've just acquired a weapons tech. But man does this game make it confusing.

I had to build a microprocessor which the game said I needed a Refiner for. Ok cool, so I set out to gather data to unlock a medium refiner. Built it, but I couldn't make microprocessors while I thought the scientist had already given me the blueprint. But no, turns out I only get the blueprint AFTER I did another unrelated scientist quest which also give me the refiner blueprint so that was 10 datapads wasted. Also I could just build in in my inventory, not the refiner (wtf).

I also haven't gotten an exocraft yet and I get a lot of upgrades I already have or don't have room for. You get a different multitool pretty late and by then you're already swimming in upgrades you can't use. So I farmed money to buy one only to get the quest for it shortly after. So again, resources wasted.

The questlines don't really seem to match your progression/needs and I didn't even go out of my way to do a lot of sidestuff/farming. Am I doing something wrong? I'm afraid to unlock upgrades now because I might get them for "free" later on.

Also the whole base building with the modules seems kind of weird, I had already built a wooden "base" and had to start all over again when I got the round module thing. The storage units also don't really seem to fit in there so they're just outside my base now :/

Sorry for the rant, I am actually enjoying the game and happily exploring and building stuff but holy shit does the game do a terrible job of helping you along. It feels like they put in different systems that aren't really connected and all sort of branch off in their own direction regardless of what you have already unlocked, built etc. The amount of content they added since launch IS pretty staggering though!

What do you hope to see in future updates? [Discussion]

I know this type of discussion has probably been asked 1000 times on here but I'm interested in what other players are wanting to see with the future updates.

For me, I'd like to own a Sentinel war ship. I always liked their design and I think it would be fun to fly around fighting Sentinels with their own equipment.

I'd like to see more done with derelict and crashed freighters. Maybe like being able to restore them to keep or sell.

Finally, I'd really like to see the sand worms from expedition 4 make a permanent return. Personally, I thought it was the best part of all the expeditions from last year.

I haven’t played this game in years. Could use some help getting back into it. [Question]

I think the last time I played this game was around the BEYOND release, around ‘18 or ‘19. I was just getting into open world games and I couldn’t get into NMS (it was kinda overwhelming and the questlines felt secondary/inconvenient to do). Fast-forward to recently I re-downloaded it to my xbox forgot how beautiful this game is!

Anyway the last time I played I finished up the Artemis Path. I want to get into role playing (possibly using the freighter more or building base camps). Anyone have any recs for getting started again/role playing in NMS? Anyone know any cool nms rpg communities?

school me on why I can see some people's bases but not others [Question]

So I have my main save with 400 hours on it plus my Expedition 3 save where I got the Station Override and I just tried a trick that has me even more confused.

In my main save, a friend of mine set up a base near mine and we're neighbors and it's all fine and good.

In my Expedition 3 save there's a complete stranger who has set up a base on a nearby planet and that also totally makes sense.

Yesterday, my friend and I were playing and I tried an experiment: I had him hang out at his base and I loaded my Expedition 3 save. Why can't I see my main save's base as this other character?

I went to the exact coordinates of where my main save base should be and it's empty of any buildings. Yet both of my saves can see my friend's base just fine.

Someone explain to a confused fan.

I like this game but I don't have a lot of time to play it, I would like an easy way of making a lot of unit fast to be able to buy some quality ships. I heard about crashing the economy with loom or of mixing chlorine with oxygen... Does those methods still work in 2022 ?

I messed up. [Question]

So.. I've been doing the Artemis quest and I just got to the part where you get teleported to a random spot by the big red ball. I got to my ship and repaired the damage and I went on my way. I went t the nearest space station and teleported home.

Well... I didn't realize that I needed to stay there and now I'm effectively half a galaxy away. I can't remember the name of the solar system I need need to be in so i don't know which station to teleport to. I don't remember the glyphs either, not that I even have them all to use the portals.

What is the quickest way to travel to where I need to? I've been hyperdriving along the path it shows me for hours and I'm barely getting anywhere. I've tried black holes but that's costly on reparation costs to my ship, and it's random anyways.

Frequent crashes with my base [Bug]

I did a pretty big base, and since I builded it my game started to crash frequently (especially when I try to save or come in my base from space). So i can get any resource I need and travel to any sort of star system, money isn’t an issue either. I just can’t figure out how to cover more distance when I travel. Questions about stat-less ships in space station. [Discussion]

I am currently standing in a space station on top of my ship. Behind are three other ships, specifically 2 freights and an explorer. I can walk up to all three and get in them, and take off, and come back to all three being there.

I don't own these ships.

Further more, when I scan them they have no stats outside of starship name and class. When I get into them they all have the stats of my original ships, along with same space 19+4.

I tried looking this up, but couldn't find anything as most search just redirect to "no ships spawning/coming to space station". Anyone know what's going on?

Very slow loading (PC game pass) [Question]

I searched around but didn't find much specific to this - my wife and I play together, she is using steam and I am using game pass. Her laptop is weaker - 8gb ram, gtx 1050.. while I have 16gb Ram and gtx 1070. Both not on SSD

Despite this, starting up the game/loading always takes around 10-14 mins for me and only 3-4 mins for her. I also get a lot more stuttering (at least for first 30 mins playing or so) and I also get a lot of random blurry textures while playing. The stuttering is more like random freezing for 1-2 seconds - overall, FPS is 40-60 at all times.

Is there anything I might be doing wrong or some configuration I can change to improve this? Having to wait over 10 mins to play every time is getting annoying.

I feel like I'm still sort of getting the hang of how certain things work in this game, most of all I have yet to really get around to figuring out how byte beat works. Though I was wondering something.

Before this me and my girlfriend were big fans of outer Wilds. Often times when I'm going around mining resources and doing busy work I find myself playing The Travelers theme on my phone.

[Heavy Spoilers] Need Help with "The Purge" and endgame in general. I have 4 questions. Thanks in Advance :) [Spoiler]

I heard that the Atlas Path Glitches out if You Finish the Purge first, so after getting the Purge on my Mission Log, I switched the main mission and finished the Atlas Path first, Gave birth to a Star and got my star seed. (Manually Navigated Star Systems to each Atlas Terminal and received all the Glyphs along the way, maybe because I already had the purge on my log). Now my Log for the Atlas path Still says "Search for Answers" (via Black Holes). Is my Atlas Path completed or not yet? Can I Explore the Black holes later after the purge?

Now that I have presumably finished the Atlas Path, My marker for The Purge portal has vanished On the Galaxy Map and it's showing me a hyperdrive journey towards the galactic core instead for the current mission which is the purge of course. Is my game glitched? I don't have enough fuel to warp through a million systems again. Lol

What happens to everything I own after the purge? My freighter, Exotics ships, storages, bases and all types of currencies?

I love myself some spoilers (don't judge me) I know they make you choose a new Galaxy in a different reality I hope. Which One should I choose? My priorities are beautiful planets, interesting anomalies and Decent multiplayer. In that Order.

Taking heat damage inside base? [Bug]

Got a base on a tropical 0lanet that seems to have firestorm, sometimes in the base depending on where I stand I start taking damage from the heat? Any ideas how to sort this? I have to make a small 4x4 base inside when it happens

Mining extractors [Question]

So I’m doing something wrong with piping my extractors I believe.

Watched a few videos online and they’re still able to keep 300+ production per extractor. I used to stack them and found out that cuts into the production as I was falling to 110/hr per extractor.

So I built another mine with s class AI, 99% density. When I started I was above 400/hr. I did not stack any extractors, had them side by side and when I finished piping and electrical I was down to 110 again.

2 billion settlement debt without changing system clock [Bug]

I was just playing the game going to my settlement every time there was something to do there and all was going well but just now when I returned it suddenly had 2 billion settlement debt I hadnt changed anything about the sytem time I hadnt even quit the game I was just playing the entire time I had a previous settlement where this exact thing also happened but with a way smaller amount, what could be causing this and is there any way to fix it?

Trying to play wirelessly with Quest 2 [Question]

Hi, I hope this is allowed here. I have been trying to play this on the Quest 2 and it runs relatively well through SteamVR and air link, there's only really one problem. Every time I move my hands around they look very wavy. I have no clue what it's actually called and just calling it "wavy" doesn't really do it justice but that's the closest word I can think of to describe it. It's only my hands. I have had the same problem with some games through SteamVR but games like Alyx and Tales of Glory look perfect. I've used open composite in the past and it's fixed most of the problems. I tried open composite with NMS and it just gives me this error, "IVRComposite_027," even though everything I can find online claims NMS works with open composite. Is there some workaround to get open composite working that I've somehow missed? Or if open composite just no longer works has anybody had the same problems I'm having and found a solution through SteamVR? I could just play it flat screen if it really comes to it but I'd much rather play it in VR and so many people claim that it's one of the best VR experiences.

Can we talk about the state of updates [Discussion]

This turned into a great game. Halloween was a good way to end the season, frontiers turned out to be pretty cool. To drive home the point, I have just over 400h of playtime. Safe to say I'm a fan and supporter.

But, guys... We need something to happen. Out of curiosity I checked the steam playercount today. And I understand that's not entirely representative of the entire playerbase but, the peak daily players is actually lower than I've seen it since I bought the game just over a year ago.

So let me ask this: Why did you stop playing?

For me personally, I just got bored. By the time Revisited came out, I'd already cleared the main game and bought almost everything. Expeditions were a refreshing experience because even though I had to start a new save, it would be a new challenge to fight through and I'd unlock new things for my main. So for me, there was literally no point in playing any of revisited. The only expedition I didn't do was Pioneers, and honestly I was already over not having the Golden Vector so I was fine with just not playing.

Expeditions were a great experiment, and a lot of fun to try out. By the time emergence came out, I was already on the fence about the fomo content. Repeating it all for those who missed out the first time around may have alienated the more serious players, who got left with essentially nothing to do. I know it did in my case.

Been a PS4 player since the beginning and now I'm planning to setup a prize game across all 255 galaxies but I want to make sure it's fair for all platforms

Just curious if PC players can just magically teleport to any galaxy using save editors as an advantage over Xbox and PS players because if so then my plan is practically useless

The other question is are Comm balls set in Survival mode visible in Normal mode too because this game will be in survival/permadeath mode and I'd like to keep it that way

Ship Spawns at Space Station Based on Conflict Level? [Question]

I was really high yesterday playing on my PD run, and was chilling in Space Station before hopping off, and got curious.

I’m familiar that you probably have a better chance at S class starships in Tier 3 economies, but does conflict level influence the spawns at all? For instance, if a system is combat ridden, is there more a chance for fighter style ships? And conversely, if the conflict is less intense, does the game allocate more ‘expeditionary’ style ships like haulers and whatnot?

I love this game, but the fact that it's still this buggy and poorly optimized 5 years after launch is an embarrassment [Discussion]

I love everything they've done with the game since launch as much as the next guy, their commitment to improving the game is the constant hope that keeps me coming back to it. But I'm starting to wonder if we're ever going to have a solid, polished title. They seem to break things as often as they fix them with updates. VR had me more excited than any other update, you can imagine my disappointment when I found out that it's the only VR title my PC can't run well. And then when the frontiers update completely broke it; VR is completely unplayable on my machine now, I've kinda just given up hope on being able to play it that way.

But VR isn't even my focus with this post, it's more all of the problems found in normal gameplay. I could fill paragraphs with a list of these bugs and glitches, I'm pretty sure you're all familiar with them; they're the biggest reason I haven't touched PD mode yet 400+ hours in. Losing hours of save progress to a glitch would be heart crushing and might turn me away from playing further, these glitches are frustrating enough in a normal save. And the fact that they haven't implemented any kind of save backup or restore system this far in with the game still in this state, in a game with a PD mode, feels a bit like a slap to the face. Before anyone says "just do it manually", that shouldn't be the expectation. Having to manually back up saves before playing a game in order to be able to play without fear of losing your progress is something only the most dedicated players do, which leads to the next huge problem with all of this:

The buggy state of the game is the biggest reason I've seen people not pick it up. Every friend I've attempted to get into NMS has eventually turned away because of the bugs. It's always been "yeah this game is really cool, but the...

Confusing discovery - need answers [Question]

Hi. Recently found a Portal on my starting planet and, as I only had 1 glyph, it sent me to who-knows-where (friend used the same one-glyph combo and went to another system).

Now, what's confusing is my actual system that I ended up in. Firstly, it said I was the one to discover the planet while it had 40+ player bases on it.

Secondly, planets did not match those on the discovery page. I've had two planets that were not on the list (with all planets listed as charted). One such planet, when I've landed on it, said there are 7 animal species. Instead it was a airless planet with ice all over and random clusters of whispering eggs. No animals, nearly no plants. We even joked about how it reminded Pitch Black movie.

Is there any explanation other than to shrug and says "it's just nms"?

No Man's Sky not switching to VR mode with Oculus Quest 2 [Question]

Hi,

When running No Man's Sky using Oculus Quest 2 via the Oculus Link Cable, the image remains on the virtual curved monitor and does not switch to VR mode. The camera spins fast around the game character unless the Touch controller dots are placed precisely in the middle of the screen. The circular mouse pointer in NMS remains at the periphery of the display area. The Touch controller buttons have no effect in Non Man's Sky and the game is unplayable in VR.

BACKGROUND

Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900K @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz

Installed RAM: 64.0 GB (63.9 GB usable)

System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

GPU processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080

Dedicated video memory: 10240 MB GDDR6X

The PC is fully up-to-date including the NVIDIA driver - 511.23 14/01/2022.

Oculus Quest 2 and PC app are fully up-to-date.

All other aspects of Oculus Quest 2 seem to be working ok.

Running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 switches to VR mode correctly.

No Man's Sky was purchased through XBox GamePass (not Steam).

No Man's Sky works perfectly in the monitor with a game controller.

The Oculus Quest 2, Touch Controller and link cable came from Oculus.

Steps taken to resolve the issue: -

Shutdown and re-start everything

Remove all other USB devices except keyboard and mouse

Allow content from Unknown Sources (Oculus app - Settings - General)

Disabled Ge-Force Experience overlay

Please can you help me to resolve this issue, so that I can play No Man's Sky in VR, as it's reputed to be very good with Oculus Quest 2, according to players on Youtube?

Cant complete Atlas Path [Question]

So the game tells me to "Go to the black hole in space" when i go through the black hole the game dosn't let me do that mission until i go to Polo and request a coordinate for a Atlas station, then i create a new star go through black hole and no more of that mission until i start over

Fell through the floor of my freighter and lost a permadeath save [Bug]

I was placing a storage room and there was an object that was on the wall now blocking a doorway. So I grabbed it and placed it on the floor about 6ft in front of me while I checked for the delete button (I’m in VR). When I placed it it pushed me inside a wall as if I had just placed down an entire room. I couldn’t grab or interact with anything in the build menu. I took 3 steps and fell through the world and died.

At least I was only 5 hours in

I lost my void egg quest?!? [Question]

So after I crafted the seeds of glass I accidentally warped across the galaxy and know can’t find the original plaque? And when I open the warp map it shows a path but it disappears over time so I can’t do one quick warp, anyone Know how to fix it? I think it’s the same glitch as the cartographer quests but I don’t remember how to fix it.

Multi-Swords & Capes [Suggestion]

Multi-swords are canon, there is a chance encounter with a Traveller in space stations where they "draw their multi-sword" on you if you give the wrong response.

Capes already exist in game. Nada wears one, not to mention the dude on the title screen.

Older base-parts? [Question]

First to say the new base part looks good and are pretty much fine but I hate the fact that we are no longer able to build from older parts (wood,concrete,metal) especially when on older saves we are still able to build them! It would be very cool if we could learn legacy structure at space anomaly but im afraid its very unlikely. Is there any mod so far which would reenable those legacy stuff? The fact game gets free updates for so long since I bought it and its not just minor things but really cool stuff (settlements, etc.) makes me feel very grateful to developers. Altough some times there are removed things which maybe will be missed (for base parts just 3 types of building materials will become little bit boring after you build number of bases).

😱Panic! - The Interloper's Guide to the Galaxy... [Information]

The guide is primarily aimed at beginners who are most likely as overwhelmed as I was when I first started Interloping and it contains all of the stuff I really wish I had known when I started out. There are definitely lots of other ways to play the game so it is a purely a product of my own subjective experiences and no-doubt undiagnosed personality disorders – so I am not claiming that this is the best or only way to play, but feel free to shoot me down in flames and tell us how you think we should all be playing... 😂

Game Modes...

I would recommend that you start off by playing in Creative mode for a few hours initially just to get used to the controls, moving around, mining, shooting your weapon, flying your ship, driving the Exocraft and building a base etc. This is a great way to learn the basics without the risk of asphyxiation, radiation poisoning, toxic shock, heat stroke, hypothermia, animal maulings, sentinel attacks and the other million ways to die in the first minute or two of your new game. Once you have got the hang of things I would then switch to Normal mode, where there are still some dangers but nothing you can’t handle with your new found skills, probably... Most people play through the whole game in normal mode before moving onto the Survival and/or Permadeath modes. I personally much prefer Permadeath in VR (undiagnosed personality disorders?) because it is much more challenging and rewarding when you can lose everything in a split second, just like in real life. If you do eventually venture into Permadeath then my last words to you would be: Only jetpack uphill, shoot predators on sight and never, never, never install or use any grenade style weapons. Also – turn off PvP (and multi-player if you play Permadeath) because there are unfortunately a few who will terminate you on sight, and if they are using VR they can punch...

First time playing NMS since 2016, and it runs terribly now? [Question]

I played NMS for 20 hours when it first launched, then put it down in favour of other games and never picked it up again. A friend recently got Xbox Games Pass and wanted to play, so I started it back up again. Unfortunately it now runs terribly, sub 30 fps with drops down to 5 fps on the default "high" settings, just about 60 fps with drops down to 10 fps on "standard" settings.

I have the same specs as I did when I first played the game, an i5 4590, R9 390, and 8 GB ram. My PC can easily run GTA V at well over 100 fps on high settings, but is really struggling with NMS. Does anyone have any suggestions to get the game to run better on my current hardware? Or has it been changed so much that I need to finally bite the bullet and upgrade?

Pet Sequencer Question [Question]

I've done a bit of searching and found that there is a maximum/minimum size for your pet, but how do you tell when you've hit that limit in the egg sequencer. I'm trying to get my pet to max size, but I don't see any indicator telling me I've hit it yet. Will it just stop letting me add size materials? If not, all I see in the description is "very large". Once I hit that, should I stop adding materials to make it larger? TIA

Ship Storage Question... [Question]

Why can my C class fighter hold 35+tech (a 7x6 grid if fully upgraded!!) when my recently bought S class fighter and Exotic can only hold 19+tech (a 5x5 grid??)

Surely the upgradeable storage potential should be larger on the S class, not on the old C class. They're both fighters. Is there a way to expand the potential size of the grid on S+Exotics?

Just started playing [Question]

I recently started playing No Man's sky (the video game) and was wondering if adepts of the game had a few tips for a new player. I know there is a main quest and that the game itself is a very large and open sandbox, but maybe I should prioritise somethings to make progressing easier or more satisfying? Anyone get frame rate dips on the Series X? [Question]

Help understanding Tainted Metal and a possible Glitch [Question]

Hi Folks,

I've notice this afternoon that a stack of 9,999 trained metal has been added to my Exo-suit....

I have not done anything to earn it. No visits to crashed freighters. No quests that reward it.

I've been playing Solo so I don't think anyone could have dropped it into my inventory.

The only thing I can think of is scrapping a ship I found via a Space Station.

Is there any way this isn't a glitch?

I don't want to use the material as I believed I gained it unfairly.

Tip #1: Always try to be doing multiple things. Pick up the portable refiner so you can refine something from your inventory while exploring and mining.

Tip #4: Need glyphs? All 16 are on one planet here

Q- "I was on the Anomaly and a bunch of expensive stuff showed up in my inventory. What do I do with it? A:" Congrats! Another player has bestowed you with a gift. Most likely it is an item to sell for some quick and easy cash. Usually the item description will tell you what it is used for.

Q: "Help, I claimed a broken ship and now I can't find my starter ship! Is it gone forever?" A:" If you merely selected to "claim" the broken ship and not "swap" it, then your old ship is still around. If you left it with launch fuel in the tank, you can summon it with the quick-menu. If it does not have fuel, it can be summoned on the Anomaly (once you unlock it), your freighter (once you acquire one).

Q- "Are crashed ships worth repairing?" A-" Unless it is an exotic, no. Scrap the ship at the space station, sell the items it gives you, and use those units...

Build Limit No Longer Surpassable? (and why is it 300u in the first place?) [Bug]

So I think we have all had issues with the build limit in the past. We find an awesome spot to build, but the nearest power spot is 700u away, and there's an S class activated Indium mine 900u away. As annoying as this was for me, there was always the workaround of placing an object right at the build limit to increase it by 50u, all the way to 1,300u away from the base computer.

I had a super long grind doing this for a while. I took a break for a few months, and I came back to the new building system (which is awesome!!). But low and behold, I can no longer reach my power supply and activated Indium mine.

This has really, really screwed me over. Why did they change this? I mean maybe they didn't and I'm just having some mad struggles, but this is ridiculous... 300u build limit. Why?

The Paradise Planet hunt [Discussion]

During my research, I've been able to confirm that the highest chance of finding a Paradise Planet is within a yellow star system that is G-type between 4 and 6 with water. There seems to be a higher chance within systems that only have 2-3 planets as well. I've noticed that the Gek seem to inhabit systems with that criteria more than any other race or faction. I'd really prefer something in Korvax territory. I just like the Android vibe more than the lizard people.

Despite my research and limited experience, I see that a few people have posted in this sub showing that they've found Paradise Planets in Korvax space, but there are only a handful of these posts. What has been everyone else's experience?

Bonus question: If I play in single player / solo mode, will porting to coordinates where other players have set up camp show me all of those settlements or do I have to be in multiplayer?

VR stuttering and lag [Question]

I recent purchased NMS so I could have a nice space VR adventure however I am having some issues actually getting the game to run smoothly in any capacity.

I have a fairly decent rig:

Quest 2

3070 fe

3700x

16gb DDR4 3600mhz

1440p

I have fiddled with all of the graphics settings but no matter what settings I use, I cannot get the game running smoothly. Whenever I turn my head slightly, the view in my headset lags behind significantly, I have random janky tearing across my screen and the fps is abysmal.

If I try any setting aboved enhanced then the game just bricks it and I have restart the game and headset, and DLSS does not seem to improve perfomance at all.

Does anyone have any tips I can try to get this game running in VR?

I am a min maxer right down to my core , so I obsessively look for the better , most efficient outcomes in all my endeavors.

With that in mind I have a few questions for all you experienced space explorers. If someone could shed some light on these , I'd be greatly appreciated, hell I might even throw in some Gek Nip if the answers are above expectations!

What is the most efficient combat weapon for the multitool ?

Been playing around with the boltcaster, but would like to know your opinion on the others.

What is the most efficient combat weapon for the starship ?

Been using the Rockets and swaping for the Positron in between overheats, but again, would like some more experienced knowledge on this subject.

Is going towards the center of the galaxy beneficial in terms of ship/freighter/multitool spawn rarity chance ?

Is there a way I can upgrade the amount of slots in my freighter, besides getting a better class ? I don't see an option using the Salvage Frigate Modules upgrades.

What is the most rewardable use for the freighter base ? Hydroponics farm ?

Is there a way to farm for de-hydrogen besides running around mine beaming the crystals of the surface of the plannets ? I am aware of the de-hydrogen jelly method, but let's face it , thats reaaaaally slow ...

By starting a game on expeditions mode, would I be able to go after the Apollo or Atlas mission path after the expedition is over ? Is that a legit but different way to start a character besides the Normal/Survival/Permadeath playmodes ?

Earnings disappeared from the refinery [Question]

I have a nanite farm and the refineries are outside.

Every time I have 9999 Uncontrollable mold,they come in there. But almost every time I come back, the nanites from the refinery have disappeared.

I fired up my VR again for NMS and OMG it's amazing. The size and scale of things it spectacular. Getting used to flying the ship is tough but the interiors are incredible. The shooting, mining underground.. Best VR I've ever experienced.

Do Mission Boards Reset After a Set Time? [Question]

I'm currently getting one of the last achievements in the game, where I have to reach the center of Euclid during Survival, but I am choosing the Artemis Path to do it, as it more quicker than just warping.

I'm in the mission Alone Admist the Stars, and one of the objectives requires me to increase my rank among the Gek. Apparently, one of the missions bugged out, forcing me to abandon it. When I got the Mission Board again, I get the same mission, but I want a different one.

New to the game and I have encountered an issue with the base computer... I need help [Question]

Not sure if it matters, but I am on Xbox.

I started a base and was moving some things around. I grabbed the Base Computer to move it and I instinctively used my triggers to rotate the Base Computer. Well it looks like I actually deleted the Base Computer instead of rotating it as the bumpers are how items are rotated in No Man's Sky. (almost all games with base building on Xbox use the triggers to rotate items so muscle memory got the best of me)

I thought, well no big deal, I'll just make another one... However I can no longer place a Base Computer despite the UI stating I have 1 available to build. It just says that I cannot build within this base.

I'm not sure what to do next and was hoping my answer was in the Base Computer, however I can no longer place one :(

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How to farm two resources with one base? [Question]

For all the pro our there, a quick question for you. How can I farm 3 different resources but have one base. For instance, gold, cobalt and silver but all depot in my one base. My problem is when I try to get power from somewhere far which is not my main base on the planet, the power wiring doesn’t reach my base or my mining area. How can I solve this issue?? Suggestion : Search bars in lists of items. (ALA 7 days to die) [Suggestion]

Hello Hello (sorry),

I have been playing 7 days to die as of late, and the amount of recipes, items, craftables, building pieces and overall pedia entries in that game is pretty staggering.

However the Fun Pimps managed to make it all pretty useable by adding dynamically filtering search bars in basically every menu. So for example, among the now thousands of pieces you can use to build a base, you can just type in "Pipe" or "Triangle" or "Door" and it filters the list to what you typed so now you can just choose the item you want.

I feel like this would really improve NMS a lot, especially if you have a keyboard on hand.

Yesterday I got tasked with building an oxygen harvester. I had to get some materials from my Freighter, but inside the Freighter bays you can't open the build menu to check the recipe real quick, so I had to navigate to Catalogue, and then manually find the oxygen harvester by scrolling around.

Having search bars would streamline this process and make the game feel friendlier, because there is also a lot of stuff in NMS.

PS5 glitch? [Bug]

So I was about to hop back onto the PS5 version which I’ve had for about a week, but when I tried I was met with a “please wait” message that wouldn’t go away. Expeditions: All the fun of missing out on timed content without the solace of knowing it was because you didn't pay extra. [Discussion]

I admittedly (as many of us do with this game) don't play a whole lot between expansion releases, just because it doesn't take long to experience the new content. Since expeditions started, and I've been seeing info about them online, I was asking early on (since it seemed an odd impression I was getting) whether or not this content was timed, that is if I'd be able to do these things later if I didn't jump in right away. Back then, I was told that it wasn't something that was time locked, but I never logged in to investigate, because of all the odd difficulties and seemingly necessary guides to each one that were showing up in this sub.

But now I'm seeing a post on steam mentioning "one last time" to do them.

What, honestly, is the purpose of making these expeditions with an expiration date? What stopped them from making them one-off missions that you picked up from a console or whatever, and could do whenever you chose? One thing is for sure, there IS a reason ... so what could it be?

There are ZERO pros to having these missions expire from the player point of view (if we could choose, we definitely wouldn't force ourselves to be able to miss content, right? right.) So that leaves a reason that has to do with development.

The only OTHER "game mechanics" out there in the industry that mirror this kind of timed content are things having to do with season passes. But No Man's Sky doesn't have that, nor do they charge for the content ... trying to wrap my head around it at this point leads me to feel like the devs are being a little sadistic ... or is there something more?

I can only deduce, at best, that the method of allowing expeditions to expire and thusly become content that can be missed is a trial run to see how the community responds to such a situation, for the...

GAME CHANGING SUGGESTION FOR NMS DEVS [Suggestion]

tl;dr make clearing planets of sentinels an objective of the game with an associated set of rewards, and possibly a player leaderboard of total planets cleared.

Hello everyone,

I have a solid idea that I think would help gameify the game, while simultaneously preserving the open world, no rails gameplay.

Here it goes: make clearing the planets of sentinels the primary objective, in addition to the primary objective of moving towards the center of the galaxy.

My thinking behind why this would work is pretty simple and basically takes the idea from Metroid Prime 3. For those who haven't played that game, the main objective is to clear planets struck with poisonous phazon-riddled seeds. No Man's Sky could essentially function the same as MP3, except replace phazon seeds with sentinels. And, of course, No Man's Sky doesn't have an "end", so clearing the sentinels could be incentivized with rewards (nanites and such). There could also be a global player leaderboard on total number of planets cleared.

New to game. Freighter Hunting question [Question]

Hi everyone, I have about 30 hours in the game so far. I already accepted the first free freighter which I'm seeing now was a mistake. However, I can exchange it. All info I could find regarding freighter hunting is that I need to trigger the battle, go save first and reload the save blah blah blah.

My question is...since I have the free one already, do I HAVE to trigger the battle each time for the big boy 34 slot S-Classes?

I was also on the coordinate exchange looking for a ship I'd want, but anytime I go to the coordinates via portal, I couldn't find the ship I was looking for, am I missing something or do I just need to warp around aimlessly triggering battles praying to the RNG gods?

More Music Appreciation. Stuff that goes with NMS [Discussion]

So I recently gave Pandora on Xbox a try and tried a favorite group "Carbon Based Lifeforms", to try playing NMS with.

I was really pleased. It pairs very well with the game and maybe by coincidence, but the music seemed to match what was happening.

I would assume another group "Solar Fields" would sound nice too. I definitely recommend to give it a try.

Anyone else got any recommendations? I'm about to launch the game and try what Philip Glass would sound like.

Does this game have a story that you can progress through and “complete” the game? [Question]

Hi everyone, I just completed Subnautica and loved it. I’ve never really played no man’s sky except very early on when it first came out and was very light on for content.

What I really enjoyed about Subnautica was that I could take my time (I spent maybe 20 hours or so just collecting resources and building my base) and then when ready I tackled the story portions and surprisingly the story actually had a conclusion and the game “ended”.

I know that No Mans Sky is less story driven and more open ended but I’m really after a game that is immersive with some type of story I can uncover at my own pace and to have a logical conclusion.

Could someone please provide me some details on this because it’s been actually quite hard to find a comparison of the story elements within No Mans Sky and a game like Subnautica. Thanks.

Not quite finding a goal for myself within the game. [Discussion]

If this is against a rule, sorry ahead of time. But I'm trying to get back into this game for the first time since launch. I've been looking for a good game with a mix of down time and exciting moments, that I can sink a lot of time into. And I really want to do that with this game. But starting off, I'm just really not sure what direction to go? Should I just keep on my way and concentrate on the story, or is finding a community once I'm able to travel to them worth doing early game? Somehow I don't have any clue what to do, and at the same time there is so much to do I can't decide from. I know this is very subjective, but just wanted to hear other people thoughts for what direction to head in, and what you do to keep busy.

Screen goes black after acct select screen [Bug]

Teleporter help [Question]

I need help

Got super lucky in terms of a base location 1 electromagnetic deposit and 2 curious deposit locations all within 1000u.

Im trying to build a short range teleporter set up between the 2 curious deposit sites for farming, obviously the 200u range between each is fine but ive set up 2 base computers 1 at each deposit site is there anyway to link the teleports between the base computers or will i have to delete 1 and just use the base limit glitch?

Hope this makes sense

First Time Interacting in The Anomaly [Question]

Preface this with the fact I'm a relatively new player, played once before about a year or two ago didn't get this far in the missions. Either way...

Headed to the Anomaly to finish up a quest for Apollo and talk with Nada, got a random invite to a group. Saw an invite and a player transfer sometime to me.

They started a quicksilver quest so I decided to follow them and hot wrapped to their solar system and they had a base where they landed already. Followed them over there and landed too. They proceeded to call me over and offer me stuff. At this point I should of known what was going on...

They were building something there and I being the bumbling idioit, I fell through the floor to some type of death trap...

Proceeded to respawn and immediately die back and forth though so I guess I'll never be seeing that loot again.

Cautionary tale I suppose my friends don't follow strangers around space.

One thing I want more than anything [Discussion]

For the next content trailer to end with the character entering their ship with friends, leaving a planet, slow down, stop, set a course and as the ship starts heading towards their destination they get up from the seats and walk around the ship.

I would love for our ships to be able to be used as simple housing. Or just be able to enjoy the view as the ship is heading towards our chosen destination. Maybe do some crafting or research, play cards with your friends on the same ship. It would add so much for me personally. 😭

New Player ---- Need Tips/Help [Discussion]

So I am pretty new on No Man's Sky, playing on PS5, only have about 15 hours in. What are the first things that I should be doing in this game? I have a decent base with storage containers, trade terminals and all the other easy stuff but beyond that I have just been exploring, doing the story and just started working on a settlement.

Translators [Question]

Ok, this time I played way more than my previous saves and now I'm on my 3rd galaxy but one thing is bothering me. I have the Artemis translator and all other 3 anomaly translators on my character, but I still see gaps on languages. So is it worth keeping them installed or should I dismantle them?

Back after a year - where should I start? [Question]

Hey interlopers - I'm a day one player but I sometimes go looooong intervals without playing. I just logged in for the first time in about a year and HOLY MOLY lots of changes!

Where the heck should I start? Pets? Settlements? Are the expeditions doable after the fact? I'm an old guy and not so great with multiplayer stuff, but is seems exciting.

About settlements - I was in a scorching bubble planet with high sentinels when I logged back in - got the message from a dude who was super sad about his crappy town. I landed, looked around, didn't talk to anybody, and left. Will a different settlement eventually reach out to me?

Random aside - but it really is amazing how close to that original promised game we are now. I went back to my home base and there are giant dinosaurs banging around!

Does coop get more coopy? [Question]

My friend and I got the game to play a mission guided version of minecraft, but so far the coop doesn't feel much like coop. Its more a single player game where we tried staying on the same mission together but eventually got tired of waiting for the other person to advance the quest. We were hoping for shared plotline and a bit more coop stuff. We are only 4 hours in or so, does it ever get more coop based or is it largely a single player game?

Creature generation theories [Discussion]

this is a list of creature gen theories i have that probably have no basis in reality but seem weirdly consistent from my explorations

Creatures that eat inorganic elements or faecium are larger: almost every creature ive seen that eats rocks faecium di hydrogen crystals or gravitino balls seems to be at or above 1 meter at least and lets not forget the largest creature thus far discovered eats gravitino balls, i would bet money the first creature discovered that breaks the 8.4 barrier is either going to eat gravitino balls or another inorganic element

Most Felidae are herbivorous and are probably weighted to that: seriously it seems like more than half felidae eat tubers leaves or roots.

creatures that absorb food through their skin are always smaller: the biggest creature ive seen with this feeding method was some 2.0m antelope.

Prionace are extremely heavily weighted towards being eels rather than sharks: in over like 200 jumps and all planets explored in every one of the systems i have yet to encounter any prionace that wasnt an eel.

Mogara tend towards being large and are never predators: this is pretty self explanatory but unless its the fluttering ones most mogara seem to tend towards being giants but are usually herbivores or geovores.

what other things have people noticed, or maybe you want to provide direct evidence how wrong i am, which honestly i probably am lol.

Food and Cooking. [Discussion]

I've been playing this game for years but I've never really taken much notice of food and cooking. In fact my catalogue is practically empty in the cooking products apart from some meat option, pellets and hypnotic eyes. I know that you can give food to one of the guys in the Anomaly and if he likes it he'll give you nanites, but just purely for research purposes and clearing all those empty slots in the catalogue, I've decided to start cooking and see whats what. I've spent some time farm animals for milk and other foods, and gathering planet based planets like Wheat, Hexberry, and Impulse beans as well as others for a start.

Any hints or tips? Thanks in advance 👍

New to PS5 [Question]

So I have played this game a year or two ago n over it. Just got the PS5 upgrade and restarted from the beginning, I just bought the first mining beam upgrade but it is nowhere in my inventory, no option to upgrade the beam in the multi tool page. And it is blacked out when I go back to the vendor so I can not even buy it again. Any advice on what is going on?

Ship Loan: used for upgrading or purchasing a new ship.

Freighter Loan: Used for the purchase of a freighter and upgrading it. Think of this as a mortgage loan, purchasing a freighter can be a big stress, we aim to make this purchase not as financially stressful.

Base Loan: this one is a little different then the rest. We have a large amount of raw materials that are waiting to be used. So a Base loan is payed in materials to build a base. We then calculate a total in units and use that as your loan amount.

I was trying to build a base around a big tree, the kind you cannot scan and you cant mine resources out off them. Everything was good, but its a big base, so I came back today to keep working and the tree is gone.

Will it be back? Idk if these landscape features regenerate as normal plants. I didnt do anything to the tree, and the base is still there.

Where does multiplayer fit into the game for most players? [Question]

I've played the game a bunch, but always in singleplayer, since my internet has been utterly horrible. Now I'm getting Starlink (yay!). I'm curious...when/how to players typically do nexus multiplayer missions and/or expeditions? Is it mostly something you do after getting a nice ship, multi-tool etc, or something to do while 'leveling' up, because it helps get a better ship, multi-tool upgrades etc? Or something else (maybe just fun for a diversion from solo play)?

I am unable to find the location of the next atlas station, no matter what I do. Nada and Polo are of no help. If someone from this community could perhaps give me the coordinates to a system known to have one, would this solve my problem? [Discussion]

I kinda just wanna finish that main questline because it's always in my log and it's annoying me. I know it doesn't really serve much purpose but I'd like to get it done. It's been several years since I've been to the last atlas station. What I think happened is that I made my way to the atlas station and I went inside, but I didn't take the recipe for that item you need to make. So as a result that station was lost and I cannot get a marker to a new one. There's simply no marker no matter what I do there is no navigational waypoint that points me to the next station and there is nothing that I can do to get one. That was an earlier version of the game so travelling from system to system was not as easy as it is now. Antimatter used to be harder to get if I'm not mistaken you needed something called electron vapour now you just need 2 simple things which are chromatic metal and condensed carbon, if I remember right.

Either way, I have a much much better ship now that I can basically warp massive distances on a single charge so it's easy for me to go from system to system now. Back then quite a few patches ago when I first started it used to be like a big thing just to warp a small distance away.

So if anyone here would be kind enough to give me the portal coordinates of a system that has an atlas station, I think that would solve my problem but nonetheless I would like to try. I don't imagine that if an atlas system has been used by one player then it wouldn't work in my singleplayer mode.

To anyone who responds, thanks a lot you'll have a free award coming your way and I'll let you guys know if this solves my problem!
