Does anyone think a game overhaul is likely? [Discussion]

I’ve definitely fallen out of love with the game lately. Which sucks because it’s basically the only game I have that I have played beyond the initial storyline or whatever, so now I don’t have anything to play.

Keep telling myself there’s a big 4.0 overhaul update coming…. But I’m wondering if anyone else thinks this?

I'm new to expeditions [Question]

Just started expedition 2 for the Normandy. I have to go to rendezvous 1, so I jumped following that line, and it put me in a red star system called 1. The line keeps going to a different system, do I have to keep following it? Because it sort of seems that that line goes on to the next rendezvous?

What am I looking for in a system where the rendezvous is?

Weird glitch [Bug]

Anybody experience a glitch where multiple players on a freighter each claiming it was their own? I was on my freighter refining and I go toward the bridge and see different modifications on my ship that I didn’t place. I then erase a placable shelf and instantly get messages by the other player to stop messing with his freighter. And soon another player who is also on the freighter claims to think it was his. I warped to another system and they were gone but the modifications stayed. I know it was mine because I warped the freighter from the surface.

Why is building so restrictive? [Bug]

I'm trying to put a half ramp inside of a timber house that I've built, but the game WILL NOT allow me to place the half ramp along the wall, it will only clip onto the other half of the floor piece. If I manage to get the half ramp along the wall (but facing the wrong direction than the direction I would like), then I can't place a floor. Why can't we just place anything where ever we want with snapping? Dumb.

Also, unrelated to that, but I cannot pick up nor delete a small refiner that was placed down last session, so that's just stuck there.

Anyone know any trick to move a base's max extent? [Question]

So after building a lot of things, I realised I want to make a hill about 1000u away part of my base. But after stretching out that way, I can't quite make it :(. However, if I'd only put down my base computer about 100u closer than way originally then everything would be fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the new feature to move one's base computer has any effect on the actual base extents. Am I just out of luck on this one? Anyone have a miracle for me?

From the perspective of someone who has loved this game since launch. It’s the only game I’ve ever preordered, and after hundreds of hours I have no regrets.

I love seeing new players jump into NMS and scratch their head as to why it got so much hate.

It’s a solid game now, but for us who were there from the beginning, the journey was light years.

Cannot start Expedition 3 after finishing Expedition 2. [Bug]

As per the title, I am simply lost.

I have finished Expedition 2 Redux, and wish to progress onto the following expeditions, yet I cannot do so. Every time I start a new save game, I get dumped into Expedition 2, over and over again, even if that save file states that the expedition is complete and I am able to claim full rewards from it.

Did anyone have this issue and had managed to resolve it?

Is the dialogue infinite [Question]

I love reading the dialogue in this game when you go to a space station and see vykeen korvax and gek Whenever you talk to them it shows little details about them like the gek has a aroma of a sunny afternoon etc I wanted to know that are the dialogue lines randomized and infinite or do they have a limit like in skyrim a character has like 4 max lines they repeat

New building? [Question]

Found a planet archive building that ive never seen its type before. Had basically all the shops and a terminal that could take ancient bones salvagable scrap and all that stuff. Does anyone know what else or if theres anything special about these places. Also for planet bonus, gravitino balls are as common as rocks lol. Everywhere.

Regular fall damage when tripping over kerbs [Bug]

I seem to be taking pretty regular but small amounts of fall damage as I walk around my bases and settlements at the moment. Lots of kerbs / transitions from one surface to another seem to be triggering it - just a quick red flash and small amount of shield depleted as though I was sniped (but definitely not being sniped!) .

Anyone else?

Normandy expidition reward? [Question]

I completed the quest line to get the Normandy and the added it to my fleet. I went to claim it on my main save and couldnt claim it as Normandy wasn't even on the list of rewards. So I tried it again, started the expidition on a new save and didn't add it to my fleet this time and still no Normandy in the rewards list?

One other thing I got a capital ship and have space for two more ships but it won't let me get my last ship from twitch drop, I have to exchange it for one of my current ships. So how do I get it without loosing my other ships?

Myth becon not working. Maybe bugged [Question]

So I've done all the quests on the expedition except for using the myth beacon. It says go on the Galaxy map and find the signal. I have a quest line that shows where to warp.

I warped over 30x and it keeps showing me to keep warping and has yet to activate. Can anyone help me out with this?

Egg hatching [Bug]

Egg hatching is broken. At least in my game.

I had an egg from a rare animal. When i had a other companion induce an egg it transformed the rare egg i already had in the same is i had just induced.

24 later i wanted to hatch that egg, wich i did.

I transformed again in the animal i last adopted...

Anybody else with these problems?

Question About CO-OP [Question]

I just have a couple questions about CO-OP. I'm looking to start a new game with a friend who hasn't played before. I've played a bit, but I lost my progress when I got my PS5 so my data was deleted. I know there was probably ways I could've saved it but I wasn't too far in so no biggie, that's not the question here.

I want to play with my friend who has a PS4, will I have to play on the PS4 version of the game on my PS5 to play with him?

Next, can we begin a CO-OP game from the beginning of the tutorial and work through it together? I would love to share the experience with my friend (who hasn't played before) and sort of help him through the tutorial while I do it again. I've heard that the game glitches a bit with base computers or something but if it's only a minor glitch with an easy fix then its not a big deal for us. Thanks.

How do the developers continue to make money off this game? [Answered]

I’m a late comer to NMS so I wasn’t there at the beginning to compare the changes made but from what I gather the games been significantly updated and added to. I’m genuinely curious how they’re managing to afford the additional work and development since the game is a single time purchase and not a pay to play. The additional content hasn’t even been released as a paid DLC. That’s weird, right? I’m not crazy for wondering how they are able to afford that, right? Are they just relying on new people buying this 6 (or however many) year old game for the first time? Is that really enough revenue to afford the updates?

Freighter rooms that I did not build [Question]

So I am doing the expeditions revisited. Started yesterday. Got my freighter and was zooming around the cosmos, doing my thing. Well, I warped to a star system using my star ship, and then summoned my freighter to me. When I boarded my freighter, there were rooms and and a bunch of storage containers that I did not build, as well as 3 refiners that I didn't put there. As well as like glass walls blocking all of the doorways into said rooms and the hallways as well, I had to go into edit mode to remove those. I am so confused about what's going on, why there are all these things in my freighter that I didn't build. Anybody know what's up?

Ok, HelloGames, will you give us the Save Point on the E1 save? [Question]

As stated. The converted save is still missing the Save Point. It is not obtainable through the Anomaly, nor the Construction Research unit.

This was missing on the last E1 also. Something got skipped. Any chance you could rectify that? While beacons are nice, there are times where a beacon can’t be used - for example, on the freighter.

Was he Santa or the grinch? [Discussion]

Someone gave me over 3 billion worth of some product at the nexus after doing the longest multi-player quests I ever did... went on a crazy shopping spree... new ships and better fleet for my freighter. But I did question the legitimacy of what i received it was like these 5stacks of some product worth 70 mill per stack and he gave me like 30 of the stacks... am I going to get in trouble lol

Completely unrelated but worth the read.. The quest was one of those rescue missions but we had to find 3 corrupted data logs in different buried tech and the planet was redacted. It had cliffs as big as sky scrapers just annoyingly far enough away from each other to make getting around at any speed nearly impossible, megaexotic fauna that was shaped like huge leaves that almost completely made a ceiling over us ( i tried calling in my ship at one point but it got stuck on a tree and I freaked out cause I thought it was going to break so I ran over to a clearer spot called it in and left it on the ground till end of mission) , the planet was one of those chromatic red and black planets and the frikkin mission had drones that tried to kill us for doing anything AND the planet said merciless sentinels or unforgiving in red it was just a wild time all around. Took us 45+ minutes. It was literally like a sci fi horror movie in black white and red, really reminded me of some darthvader-esk fighting with all the drones and sentinels eyes floating around and everything being so dark and red. its been a while since the game really made me grip my controller like that. Good times still lol.

LPT: If all you want is the Normandy reward in EXP 2: just do that phase [Information]

So I'm a newish player, logged roughly 20-30 hours in the past 7 days and been learning ins and outs of game. Yesterday I was working on EXP 2 and couldn't for the life of my get an emergency planet chart to find me an active distress signal. Always abandoned buildings though, also still haven't found a stupid scorched planet. Anyway, I go so fed up with trying that I just did all the RND points and then realized that the 5th point unlocks the decrypted step for that phase, and then they flow in a sequence. I did all those super fast and then got my shiny.

Checked another save, and sure enough it was in Quicksilver merchant, even though I hadn't finished the whole thing.

This game seems huge at first but after 80 hours I feel like it's actually extremely shallow [Discussion]

After the honeymoon phase of trying this game for the first time, I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with the state of it even after all these years. The procedural generation is extremely underwhelming. I've seen nearly the exact same animals on every single planet. Once in awhile I will see something that could genuinely be considered "new," but other than that there's only the slightest variations in fauna and flora. I've seen the same damn exact eye rolly-polly thing on like 8 different planets. It gets pretty hard to ignore. I also find it a bit weird that even though I am "discovering" new planets and systems constantly, there's already several different intelligent species inhabiting those places, and seemingly have been for a really long time? I also think the story, and missions in general, really need a total rework. It's extremely annoying when the game has 40 hours of unnecessary tutorial essentially just culminating as busy grunt work in order to unlock several essential base components and the exocraft...and I can't even abandon most of these missions. They're just in my log forever.

I really can't wrap my head around the exocraft and settlement expansions either. There isn't a single use for exocraft. There's nothing they do better than my spaceship and a couple of ion batteries. And why add settlement management to a game all about exploration? I don't want to be stuck on some planet doing Frigate/Base tutorials 2.0. Except its not even as useful because you cant teleport your settlement like you can a frigate. I really wish they would work on improving the exploration and procedural generation parts of the game, because without a great story and without the impressive procedural generation I expected I'm finding it really difficult to think of a reason to start the game up again. I'm just bored at this...

Heart of the sun unusable [Bug]

I have been playing for a long time on and off, the recent expeditions redux has me playing again, i however can’t seem to use the heart of the sun. I get to the final interface to only not be able to interact with it. Is this a bug from my save being so old?

Can any of you who are music artists direct me toward a lightweight, freeware music generator like the Beatbyte Devices? [Information]

I'm addicted to the simplicity and intuitive nature of the Beatbyte Devices. I don't know two licks about music theory or wave forms, but I love to layer instruments, create beats, and choreograph the story of the music.

I would love to do this on a computer in a program with a similar interface to NMS. Then I could do it without hogging the television from the kids and wife.

When I was younger, sound artist Toshio Iwai made that DS Game called Electroplankton and through that I learned about the Tenori-On music generator device . . . thing. THAT is what I really want. Sweet stuff.

My ship not spawning on alt landing pad [Question]

I wanted to check if this is intentional or a bug. But when I teleport to my base with an alternative landing pad, my ship spawns on the ground nearby not on the pad. However with a normal landing pad my ship spawns on it fine.

Is this intended or a known bug?

Regarding the new rule of this subreddit [Discussion]

I love making memes on this subreddit, there was no real issue regarding the memes on this subreddit until some mod/s decided to ban them. They've completely banned all the meme templates. They(mods) want us to make memes using the game itself! This meme of mine which got over 100+ upvotes within an hour was deleted, the amount of upvotes is more than the pinned post regarding the new lame rule. Half of this subreddits top most upvoted posts are memes that are made by using popular meme templates. As someone who makes memes on this sub, I just feel like they removed my post because they don't want me to get karma or something. If it's a crap/trash meme people will downvote it and it will never make it to hot, how hard is it to understand? I got so annoyed and pissed by this rule. I again wanted to reach out to people regarding this rule, using an in-game meme template that I made, guess what? Mod removed it within minutes as well. It absolutely made me feel weak and defeated. I'm sorry that I'm not using a proper format and I might be grammatically wrong since I'm not a native English speaker. Thank you for reading and I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions regarding this new rule.

What quicksilver cosmetics are unlocked in expedition 3? [Question]

And have they been consistent between reruns? I know that blueprint/cosmetic rewards from quicksilver and tainted metal are kept across saves, and I just got slapped in the face by Expedition 2 unlocking the entire armored set that I just bought two days earlier. (I used the exploit and didn't lose my quicksilver, but still, it's a pain in the ass to do when you only have a bit of quicksilver to buy one or two things at a time.) So what should I be expecting from expedition 3?

u/stharward has written the definitive guide on derelict freighters, and if you haven't read that it's worth starting there. This post on the Glitched Low Orbit, or GLO, Derelict Freighter should be considered an addendum to their work.

What is the Glitched Low Orbit Derelict Freight?

Simply put, a GLO derelict is one that spawns in the upper atmosphere of a planetary body. It is a derelict freighter that is really no different from the "standard" derelict: you can land on it, and run it as you would a regular derelict freighter (including collecting the captain's log, crew manifest, and reward at the end). The catch is that some of the derelict "rules" are different when a derelict is in the atmosphere of a planetary body.

GLO derelicts provide some stunning views.

How do I spawn one?

I've only been able to do this with moons. Maybe someone else can find a way to make it work with planets, but for now you need a planet with at least one moon.

The procedure goes like this.

Step 1. Line up a moon behind its planet like so. You want that moon behind the planet such that you will pass through the atmosphere of the latter. Precise alignment may not be necessary, but this general lineup is how I get the GLO derelict to spawn reliably.

Step 1. Line up the moon behind the planet and aim for the atmosphere.

Step 2. Activate your emergency broadcast receiver.

Step 3....

Thank you stranger for the 5 Stasis Devices! [Discussion]

I’m only 16 hours into the game. I had just gotten a milestone for making my first million. I’m in the anomaly, speaking to every NPC cos I forgot what they all do. I get an alert that I’ve received something, I assume from an NPC. Later at my base I’m cleaning out my inventory and I find I have five of these things worth 16 million each! Wtf. Why would someone give this to me? Was it an accident maybe? I’m grateful but also sorta ruined the making money part of the game. But I’m not a big grinder so I’ll enjoy role playing that my character just inherited a fortune to help with his space expeditions.

Why I cant play the game? [Question]

To get the basic idea, while i try to play the GPU just goes to Zero for a minute or two and after goes to up again the game unstucks and all over again. As you can imagine i cant play the game in that way.... and i really really really want to!

I have

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics 3.60 GHz

RAM : 32.0 GB

And Radeon RX 590 Series

I can play Halo and Forza 5 pretty smooth without any issues and the default graphics on No Man's Sky starts with High and I even try to make as low as possible and I still cant play it.

Any ideas? I play it from xbox GamePass

Sentinels don't like me :( [Question]

So, basically, I need a walker brain. Obviously to get this I need to kill a walker, so I start a sentinel encounter and everything goes fine for the first 2 waves. Then, in the third one, after I kill all of the quads and small flying ones, the menu on the right says there are 3 more sentinels, but they are invisible, or in the ground, or something because I just cant find them. Does anyone know a fix for this? Or an easy way to get a walker brain.

Quick Way to Acquire “Uncharted” [Information]

I was running through Expedition 2, coming in to the system where Rendezvous 4 is located, when I was informed I was the first to discover the system. I knew it was impossible, and realized my WiFi had been disconnected.

If you want to discover “new” systems without running all around, just disconnect from the internet and it’ll count.

Sorry if this is a known cheat, I haven’t seen it posted.

Aren't expedition characters supposed to be completely random? [Question]

Just wondering how it works exactly, because the game gives me the same character for expedition 2 that it did for expedition 1, with the same appearance and the same ship and tool(which were both c rank junk). It's not the biggest problem but kind of takes the fun out of it a little bit that I don't get a chance at rolling something different.

Cant find where to use the Myth Beacon [Question]

I've been system hopping for hours now on the mission path to do the mission in the 5th phase in the expedition that requires you to find the spot to use the myth beacon. I see others that get right to it but im like 3,500,000 light years in just looking for this spot and have finished everything else except this second to last mission.

Restaurant business? [Suggestion]

Anyone think it would be cool to have a restaurant? Like you have a menu that you have to keep stocked. Can be frequented by npc's or real players. Pays a discount to other forms of this service due to it being partially passive. Maybe, apart of the colony? Idk. I just find the cooking extremely enjoyable. Thinking out loud...

Golden non-exotics [Question]

Starbirth Mission Mess Up [Question]

So I have 7 void eggs. Used one to start the mission. Didn't get the hexite and lost the crashed freighter. So I used a portal to travel far away but it didn't give me the option to reset the mission. I even destroyed the activated egg, thinking I would start over with another but no. Tried reloading, made no difference. Am I SOL at this point?

Never got sent to a different galaxy... [Question]

So I'm pretty new to the game so after the last Atlas mission, I selected one of the different colored "orbs" (if I remember correctly). Anyway, I came out the other side with all my tech damaged, so maybe I did get sent to another galaxy but didnt realize it. Either way, I'm in Euclid and I'm trying to figure out how to get outta here. My screen keeps telling me to talk to the atlas, but when I go to my galaxy map, it only gives me the option of free explore and galaxy core. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Can we please get an option to turn off the "Entering new system" UI spam? [Suggestion]

I've recently gotten this game to run on my PC again and though I'm once again loving the experience I'm already back to grinding my teeth over the UI spam that No Man's Sky LOVES to do. Yes, it's just holding one button to get rid of it. Yes, it's for showing you information on the place you just joined. But it's unbelievably annoying how it temporarily locks you out of certain controls when you're trying to explore systems and doing frequent jumps, let alone having to deal with forced pirate encounters that already lock out your ability to pulse/warp/summon.

On the topic of UI spam, as someone who missed out on the second, third, and forth expansions, it's also not fun to get a planet entrance message, then a planetary info message, then get an expedition complete all one after the other. No Man's Sky is a wonderful game and it does a lot of things right but UI spam is not one of them. It would really be a nice little QOL change to allow us to disable it or make it far less intrusive.

Giant Worm Scans [Question]

I know for certain Giant Worms live on my home planet, i saw one jump over my base and i forgot to scan it because i was my first time seeing one in 50+ hours of gameplay so i was distracted, but my discoveries tab says I’ve scanned all the creatures on my planet and the worm isn’t in them. I know it wasn’t a players tamed one because i had multiplayer turned off (and i don’t know if the tamed ones even get that big) so i was wondering if the worms aren’t counted in the total fauna count? It’d make sense because they’re so rare. Thank you for any answers!

Beachhead expedition #2 - fallen giants - how do you complete the crashed freighter? [Question]

I've done crashed freighters before but not super often. I seem to have found all the cargo pods - now what? It says i need to find the ship log but where is that?

If i remember correctly, last time I did this in the middle of the crash site there was a piece of wreckage you could interact with - cant remember what interacting with it did. This time around it looks like there is some piece of machinery in the middle of the crash site, but it's nothing I can interact with.

Star birth contacting bugged [Bug]

A while ago when I was doing starbirth I completed the mission than I waited 24 hours so it matured than I went into pulse drive so I can get contacted but haven’t and the quest only says await contact also I’ve been in pulse drive for 40 minutes, if anyone knows if I’m doing something wrong or it’s just really bugged

Unable to craft during a distress signal event. [Question]

I picked up a distress signal with a ship needing 1 metal plate for repairs. I could build an entire planet with all the ferrite I own but wasn't given the option to craft and was forced to refuse the request. I definitely don't want to walk around with 1 of every crafted material having inventory management in mind. I probably didn't miss out on much but is there a work around or are we just stuck with issues similar to this? It would be great if there was a "(craft 1 Metal Plate)" option.

Error and crash at my base every time! (PS4) [Bug]

I just finally found an activated indium deposit near a class A electromagnetic site. I drop a base computer, a shelter for the heat, 6 electro extractors and begin a path connecting them. Now every time I move from my landing site it crashes and gives me error code CE-34878-0. I’ve tried 5 times and crashed 5 times - lasting no longer than a few footsteps.

If I fly away and wander around another planet - nothing happens. Is there any way I can fix this? I just updated today.

30 Frigate Fleet Combination [Question]

Hi Guys,

Pretty new to NMS, first time freighter owner now! I'm the type of person who would rather suffer at the beginning if it means the end will be better, and I don't like redoing things at a later stage if I can just work towards the end goal from day 1.

So my question is, what combination of specialties should I be aiming for by the time I have 30 frigates? For example 10 combat, 10 support, 10 trade?

So I just got my first settlement, and the second building I opted to build was a barn. Unlike the office or the power station, I don't seem to have an option to contribute materials, and the new construction site doesn't seem to be developing. Anyone know what I'm missing here? Salvage Frigate Modules [Question]

Hi Everyone!

First post here I have around 20hrs (normal mode) and I have read and watched multiple sources regarding obtaining salvage frigate modules to upgrade my freighter.

They all say, to the best of my understanding, to shoot the freighter to obtain them and as to not loose your standing with the life form. However, I only obtain the cargo stored in it and no salvage frigate modules.

How do I actually obtain these items?

Myth beacon help [Question]

So I'm doing the beachhead expedition revisited, and I'm on the final stage. The part I'm on now requires me to aquire the myth beacon, which I looked up is supposed to be sold to a vendor aboard the anomaly. But when I go to the vendor, he doesn't have the item. I tried logging out and back in and no change. I'm stuck now, as the rest of the steps are encrypted until I complete each step to unlock the next. I'm really kind of bummed. I wanted to finish this expedition, as I didn't get the chance to play it when it first came out. Any ideas on what I can do about this issue?

Discovering systems life hack [Suggestion]

Had an epiphany while trying to finish the second expedition. The best way to discover systems for the phase 4 milestone is to go in the galaxy map, set source for the galactic core and jump as far in the opposite direction as you can. I tried this and after two jumps from the 5th rendezvous I got 4 undiscovered systems in a row.

A bug with my trade route or am I missing something? [Question]

Did my trade route: trading economy-> advanced economy -> scientific economy, all 3 star economy systems. I bought all the locally produced things and sold at the next and made a lot of money on all items but one. Every iteration of the trade I noticed that the 5th item I had bought, the most expensive one, did not produce profit. I checked and found that it still said it was produced locally at the next system. So f.example the neural duct or whatever its called that I bought at the scientific system and I was intending to sell at the trading system sold at a deficit. It was still a locally produced item in the trading system. The other less expensive items still sold at high demand. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Distress signal [Question]

I just recently started playing No Man's Sky and when I charted a course to a distress signal I found a pilot and his crashed ship. I need to build a communication station to help the pilot, the problem is I don't know what that is. I've looked through the various blueprints I can buy with nanites or salvaged data at the space anomaly and the only thing similar I'm seeing is the message module. Small Storage Crates - Unlocked when Unlock Base PC. [Suggestion]

Would be cool if they added a set of small storage crates that have 20 slots each, with at least 1 available from the time you get a Base PC (unlocking 1-10 small would be ideal).

Expand Storage in bigger Cointaners to hold 40 slots.

I see a few beginner players having storage issues around this time and I know they get a ship soon but would be nice to add something early like a Chest ala Minecraft :>

So it seems I have to start a new save to get into an expedition and get the Normandy. After the expedition the save converts to a normal save and I have the Normandy.

How do I get the Normandy in my main save then? Maybe I haven't fully understood some basic principle here?

Older Players: What are the must-see cultural hotspots in the galaxy? [Question]

There are so many sights to see in the galaxy! But what are some planets that achieved particular hype, legendary status, or are player or civilization hubs for some reason (both past and present). In other words, planets with significant player lore around them?

Some places I'm thinking off:

  • Capital planet of the Galactic Hub (+ the supply depot)

  • The planet with the 'super rare' diplo's (who then went extinct in a later update)

  • Euclid Prime (i.e. the planet the Euclid portal dumps you on if you dial all zeros).

  • Others??

No access to quicksilver missions? Sent a report to HG with TS attempts logged and got an auto response. [Bug]

So, ever since starting the game i've been unable to do quicksilver missions. I also cannot interact with aries or helios [ i think those are the right names, scrapper and nanite npc? ] Also, when uploading discoveries I have a permanent 'connecting to service" thing in the bottom left. There no matter how long i play.

I play through steam. My steam status is online, logged in to friends, connection is strong and stable. I've tried reinstalling, verifying the install with steams verify thing and several different possible solutions found by googling. [disabling internet,re-enabling in the anomaly, for example] this one supposedly would at minimum trigger at least access to one mission. I am not using a vpn while playing.

I can see other players in the anomaly and they're moving around without any kind of lag stutter etc. I've had people join my random regular missions, but can't see an option to join anyone else.

Game is up to date as far as I can tell through steam as there are no updates to check for.

Save is in normal mode.

I don't care if I have to repeat a troubleshoot attempt i've tried already if anyone has any ideas to help me.

Is there any overkill to technology? [Question]

I'm asking just cause I've devoted a lot of inventory space to technology in my exosuit/main ship and wondering if it's the actual way to go or if I can minimize a bit. So far the only thing I can think of to get rid of some stuff is launch thrusters as I pay 6% to launch and it recharges. TIA

Exploration quest [Question]

Finally finished my first planet completely (fauna, flora, minerals)! I know there's a bug when I fly in and out of the planet so I saved and loaded so the numbers get clear and correct. And...nothing happened :( i mean the quest is still there with an unchecked checkmark.

I wouldn't even mind no reward but at least that it gets checked and little completed quest sound :( why nothing? Or is there something else to do for that quest?

Stuttering/Lag after a longer break [Question]

I am facing lots of stuttering or lag when playing. I started again yesterday after taking a break. Before I could play the game on the highes settings without issue. Last time I played was near the end of April this year I had no problems whatsoever.

I tried a few fixes that I found online, but nothing seems to help. Has anyone had the same issues starting some time between April and now?

A recent dream [Shitpost?]

Don't really know why I'm posting this, but there's no general thread or the like, and I need to get it out of my head.

The dream was set in No Man's Sky, and a new update had just dropped with a lot of hype.

For the most part, they just put in a ton of work polishing up the rain. Even adding those big fat raindrops, puddles, and making it realistically drip off roofs.

But more importantly, they added an umbrella. I tested it, and went back inside, as I was worried about a potential lightning strike.

You'll be pleased to know that it still ended up raining inside, but only in a few areas, in a true NMS fashion.

Connected items seem to lose connection spontaneously [Question]

So, I’m recently back into the game, and certain things about base building are new to me, like power sources, a different style of automatic “miners”, etc. Repeatedly, I log back on only to find that my power grid isn’t working. Or the power for my mineral extractor. I strip and reapply the wires, and sometimes that does the trick. Other times, like right now I reinstall them, they turn green, then back to red, then just by waiting it all seems to come online. My mineral extractor in particular is not reliable to “set and forget”, and my oxygen extractors WAY too often have all the oxygen missing from them when I return to collect.

This is PS4 btw, so I know loaf times can factor in here.

Expedition pro-tip : "Finding undiscovered systems" [Information]

If you turn off your internet before launching the game, you won't have access to online discoveries. This makes every system "undiscovered". Anything discovered this way will revert to the original discoverer after reconnecting to the internet, but it will proc any steps that require you to discover new systems.

Game crash while trying to build a high base [Bug]

Hi everyone!

It's beem a while since i last played nms, so this week when i came back to play, my old base was all f*ckd up. It was a kind of space station, very high in the sky in a dead moon with low gravity, amazing place. Anyway, the conection between the buildings were all closed (cylindrical rooms with stairs in the middle connecting them) and when i tried do delete and rebuild, the rooms would never fit into each other. It seem some update change the way the builing works.... so as it was a disaster, i deleted the whole base and decided to build a new one, in other planet and all...

So now, i've found a nice place with a good energy source, but every time i start to build up the structure to gain heigh, when i reach the base limit the game crashes. its been haping in the last 3 days!

I'm building from the base computer, using some metallic ramps to gain heigh and distance from the computer (where the energy source are), so the plan is to get to the horizontal base limit, and build back to the center to be right above the computer.

​

Any tips on how i can solve this, or did they chance the building mechanic so this type of base cannot be built anymore?

Can not claim Normandy [Bug]

On PC and PS4 when I go to the quick silver merchant in a non expedition save the Normandy is not showing up, I see it on XBox though. And when I say I can not see it I mean it's not there at all, not in already claimed rewards, not in unlocked and not in not unlocked rewards. I see the dosameter and that is the only thing listed from expedition 2. Anyone else having this issue?

Advanced Star System-Screening [Question]

Hi all, I’m a late game player who’s looking for my long term home system. I’m being super picky bc I am trying to settle down for the foreseeable future, and having trouble finding the types of systems I want to explore. Basically I want to examine blue star, class 3 economy systems of a particular species. I am well aware that already sets my odds at 1/27 if everything was equally distributed. If I find one of those on the galaxy map, I will warp to it. Within those types of systems, I am looking for a lava planet (lava and a separate paradise planet for my settlement would be ideal but I’m not too insane).

Basically I’m wondering if there’s any tips out there for screening systems better. The economy scanner goes by economy type and not tier so that’s useless, the lifeform filter is nice but then I’m looking for both economy and stellar type out of all the Korvax systems, and then the default filter shows correct star color but it doesn’t block out the galaxy color so it’s hard to see them anyways. I’m in Calypso to boost spawn rate of extreme weather planets, but knowing the amount of planets in the game I wish there was an easier way to set more advanced filtering options for star systems.

Artemis quest line, friend base [Question]

Hi, so my brother and I bought this game exclusively for playing Co-op. In the first mission "Awakening" when we have to build a base, I could use my brother's base to advance the quest.

Can I do the same for Artemis's quests? It says I have to place down a base computer but just seems weird if I have to build my own base near my brother's base, kinda want to live in the same house and all. I tried talking to my brother's base computer but nothing happens!~

Stuck on Starbirth Quest [Question]

Hello NMS community! As the title says, I'm stuck on the Starbirth Questline to get my living ship and hoping you all could point me in the right direction.

I'm currently on the "Await Contact" phase of the quest, which states that "I should await further contact from the egg, or those to whom it calls."

After searching through Reddit & Steam forums, it seems the general consensus is I either need to warp x number of times, pulse drive around a system, or visit a blue star system. I've attempted all of these... a lot. I've warped somewhere around 20 times now and engaged my pulse drive for about 30-45 seconds in each system. I've tried to visit primarily blue stars along my path, but have also tried yellow & red. Literally none of this is triggering the egg to sing.

I'm hoping one of you fellow travelers has experienced the same issue and found a workaround. Thank you so much in advance!

Anyone else having problems moving tech on claimed ships in beachhead? [Bug]

Basically, most of the ships I've claimed that came with their own tech in the storage spaces had an issue with moving the tech back to the tech slots (like the message to press 'E' to move it wasn't there when you just over it, and pressing 'e' on our doesn't pick it up). Usually saving and reloading it fixes it, but like the reward fighter we got, i had to save and reload like half a dozen times to get all the tech into the tech slots

Settlement Bug? [Bug]

So i've been an overseer for my settlement for a little now, and it went up a rank to B from a C. and now it acts as if im not overseer anymore.

it's saying the friend im steam family sharing with owns that settlement now.

Reporting a base removes it from my screen, right? [Question]

Similarly, does reporting someone's communications beacon remove that from my screen also?

If so, why can I not simply enable an option to remove all other players' spam from my screen during events like Expeditions? It would make the experience so much nicer.

Exbition saves question [Question]

Going to start off by saying I am a rather new player. Started with 5 days left on Ex1 and ended up seeing what it was about and jumping into it and finishing it in the last 3 days of it.

I saw that it converts to a normal game, but does that save get the whole Atlas questline and the ability to get an overseer at your base? I'm really curious as most of my gametime ended up on that save rather than my starter save.

I really like my Ex1 save as I managed to snag 2 exotic ships and find an exotic planet while I was playing it but I still want to do the whole questline and have access to all the bases can offer. Plus now I can add the normandy to my play!

How do I get back to eissentam? [Question]

I followed the Atlas Path story line and ended up restarting the simulation and woke up on a nice paradise planet in eissentam. In a rush to repair my damaged stuff, I did not create a base on the planet, and went to the space station in the system and warped back to my main base. I tried going through the Galactic core of Euclid but this time I went to Hilbert Dimension. Is there any hope of getting back to the same planet in eissentam?

Myth Beacon Help [Question]

So I'm on the final phase of the expedition and I need to acquire a Myth Beacon but it isnt showing up in the Quicksilver menu. I've completed the Historiohraphical Lesson Milestone, gotten the 80 Quicksilver needed, and have checked the entire list around 20 times after reloading autosaves, reloading manual saves, closing out the game and re-opening and it isnt appearing. I currently don't have a wifi connection so I'm really hoping it isnt needed to get the Myth Beacon.

"Planetary Settlement Detected" message will not go away! [Question]

Every time I teleport to one of my planets that happens to have a settlement on it, this damn message pops up. Once it times out a gigantic box appears on the right telling you about planetary settlements, and it won't go away!

I can go to "log" and change my primary mission or secondary, but that box will not go away. And if I do go to the log tab, when I leave it, the "Planetary Settlement Detected" pops right back up, starting the cycle again.

I didn't think anything could be more annoying than getting stuck on a ladder that won't let go of me. But this is. Please help.

No Mans Sky VR [Question]

Recently I have been trying to play NMS VR but, the performance is absolutely shocking. I use virtual desktop + Oculus Quest 2. When running NMS on a normal desktop, I can run the game at 90 fps, maximum graphics (GTX1650/16GB RAM) and it is very very smooth. When I try to use my VR, I can barely even get 10 fps. Even when reducing graphics in both NMS and Steam to the absolute minimum, I still get an incredible amount of fps drop. Is there anything I could do to increase performance at all? It's strange because I can run Fallout 4 VR with midway graphics at a smooth 60fps, and other games like blade and sorcery, DOOM VR 2016, and Half-Life Alyx, all above 60fps, (all on steam).

I just think NMS hates me >:(

What do you think of this idea for No Man’s Sky? [Discussion]

I am a big fan of puzzle/mistery games. For example, “What remains of Edith Finch” is an absolute masterpiece to me. So over the past few months, i built “Maze Baze”, a game base where you have to solve riddles, collect information, do a bit of math, be a bit of a Sherlock Holmes and a bit of a Squid Game player to find your way through and in the end collect a reward. it was big fun building and the overwhelmingly positive feedbacks of the ones amongst you who played Maze Baze made me very happy.

So i thought: What if Hello Games could take this to the next level?

Imagine this:

cabinets, sideboards and drawers we can open and hide keys in them that open boxes, doors or gates

input terminals that keep doors locked unless we key in correct codes

hidden door elements to secret pathways in the walls

broken tiles and paper shreds that reveal information once we find and put all missing pieces together

an extended selection of stickers that allows us to draw maps

walls with loose rocks to push with some button functionalities

ropes we can pull that trigger some action

walls that can be knocked down with secret chambers behind them

floor boards that can be lifted to hide things underneath

etc. etc.

In a nutshell, imagine an expansion of base building, so we could build Indiana Jones / Tomb Raider inspired mistery/puzzle games for each other…

What do you think?

Switching from console to PC [Discussion]

Calling all (well whoever wants to weigh in) PC NMS players. I’ve got a question for you. I’ve only ever played nms on my Gen 1 Xbox One. I love the game but I think it’s time to get off the console… especially since I’m pretty sure my 8 year old system is about to take a dump. Can anyone recommend a relatively good pc that isn’t crazy expensive? I’m not interested in running any other games and I know the minimum reqs for NMS, but I know very little about the PC world. So I saw this post, and it made me think, "What would make the creators ban you?" since nobody seems to be saying "report him." or whatever, so obviously duped items/hacked items are allowed, or are they ?

So what would someone have to do to annoy HelloGames enough to ban them, at least from online play?

Should I start expedition 2 over? [Question]

I went into a black hole near the end of the expedition where I only had to discover 4 systems and do stuff for nada thinking I don’t have to be near the expedition area to do these. Well it seems I was wrong, I need to deploy the myth beacon and the route disappears into the galaxy map. I feel confident that it’s trying to take me back to the expedition area but I’m very far away and I can only eat 2000ly at a time. Is it worth it? Or should I just start over?

Weird bug; screen freezes but the game keeps working in the background. [Bug]

I've been encountering a bug recently.

I reinstalled Windows 10 on a new SSD. After 10 minutes or so, if I warp or enter a loading screen, the game will be stuck on that screen forever; however, I can still hear the game in the background working just fine. I can jump, walk, etc...

Tabbing out makes the screen go black, but the game is still fine in the background.

Has anyone encountered & fixed this issue? If not, I will report it to their Zendesk.

I dont get it, think im dumb. [Question]

So i have competed every step of thecurrent expedition except the final one.

I have used the my beacon at the big tower thingy and had a quest pop up to say the myth beacon has picked up a starge signal and i should go to my starship to track it.

I cannot find ANYTHING to track.... there is no quest marker on any system. There is no ship to track...

THe quest text seems to be bugging out, by this i mean it is constantly flickering in and out and making the noise for a quest popping up very fast over and over again.

Any help much appreciated, am i totally screwed?

Would anyone like to have their bytebeat remixed / expanded on beyond the bytebeat machine? [free requests]

been producing as a hobby for almost 10 years now, happy to interpret instructions if you don't want to get some beat-centric experimentation back by default!

At first I felt like what happens in bytebeat stays in bytebeat as a sign of respect but its such a slam dunk sifting through the random generated waveforms that i wish i had a plugin like it in ableton lol. Self improvement needs highlighted by 2020 required putting my irl hobby aside from january til a couple weeks ago. During that time the whole game and then bytebeat library update got me hooked on a way to naturally ease the senses back into a producing mood by the time november approached. quickly becoming my actual favorite game ever

i ended up hanging out at 70 bpm e flat experimenting with beat-style loops that i could usually get a good minute or two out of before wanting to hit next lol. Gave me the idea to put them in a playlist as separate short songs and shuffle, then to making all of them try to sound connected to eachother so no matter which one played next it kinda bopped infinitely, then just threw em all into ableton and soundcloud-uploaded one "possible" outcome of shuffle as a lazy compromise to myself, public if you can figure out where to look for it lmao. It mainly serves as a way to half-keep anything that gets replaced and isn't super quality / will likely receive minor improvements / stereo version in time.

Please help! Expedition reward glitch. [Question]

I’ve finished the second expedition and was celebrating as I claimed the reward for finishing all the phases, however, as I claimed the reward my game crashed soon after I did. I wasn’t worried as I had saved the game and went to my normal save to claim the rewards. When I went to claim the reward the normal save only had some of the rewards at the quicksilver synthesiser (luckily it had the frigate) but it didn’t have some of the other rewards such as the armoured customisation reward. Confused, I went to the expedition save to try and claim the rewards again and saw the the final reward (for completing all the phases) was not claimed. I cannot claim the reward as ‘my inventory was full’ (even though it’s a title). Now, no matter what I do I can’t claim the rewards on my normal save and cannot claim the finale save on the expedition and complete it. I’ve tried reloading and restarting my game a couple of times and nothing changed. Anyone got any ideas?

Day 1 player off and on over the years i have a question [Question]

So as i traverse through the galaxy I’ve noticed on any game mode i have played that any time i ever come across any other player built base there is no power. No power ever! There will be a mining farm or an actual plant farm or whatever ever, even just a regular old structured home built & never any power. I see power sources set up & built & look to be properly set up right but always no power. Is there a reason for this?

Rescue stranded lifeform broken? [Question]

I tried my hand at a Nexus mission for the first time today.

First time, I located the module, the terminal, and then couldn't use it cause "there are setinels nearby". After walking around with a second player for 45 mins without finding a single remaining sentinel, the game crashed. Fun.

Second time, I was alone. I quit the mission after FOURTYONE "Corrupted signature" tech modules and killing 60+ sentinels. It took over an hour. My favorite part was the overhead view over and over and OVER AGAIN. During that time, I continuously kept getting a large glowing text saying "I have no girlfriend and feel sad" and "Hi."

I don't have that much time to just waste on walking in circles when I could be discovering new worlds.

Is this just broken or was this just an extreme amount of shit luck?

How do we build an actual community or world city? [Discussion]

As an urban planner, I’ve always felt the game needs a real city. The game has no population density. The Frontiers release helped, but isn’t really the answer. With a simple urban code, it should be possible to construct a settlement with about a thousand travelers as community members.

To pack people close together, there are a few things to start off with that are a given: 1.) Most people will have to use solar power as there won’t be enough geomagnetic hotspots for everyone to have their own. 2.) Similarly, it wouldn’t be expected everyone can mine or harvest gases. 3.). There needs to be a community code, practically unenforceable, that there must be community environmental stewardship. In other words, this place is nice—harvest elsewhere and don’t dig any holes! Certainly, don’t go harvesting on your neighbor’s property. 4.) With the average base separation being about 1000 units, an actual city of travelers will have to take the form of a rural community. In fact, given that there won’t be any resource extraction going on, this community will essentially be a cluster of space farms. 5.). A handful of bases with the best locations would be understood to be community center bases with a larger suite of facilities and public buildings. Example public buildings would be a Roman-style forum for trade; Atlas cathedral (for those who believe); spaceport; teleport hall; and public gardens. Whoever has figured out the racetrack could also build some of those (Circus Maximus). With the giant ball, a sports stadium could also be built.

The ideal site would include the following 1.). Euclid galaxy to encourage newcomers 2.). Paradise planet that isn’t a hive world and with no sentinels 3.). Has coastline for good views. 4.). Has normal looking trees for aesthetics and easy replacement. The glowy mushroom plants would be too quickly missed if...

I have the quest selected and have been following the green line but I've done probably 20-25 jumps and it's still giving me the green line to a new system.

I've googled this and it seems like many people are confused by this mission. I've tried these suggestions to no avail:

Galaxy names. [Question]

Firefox or Reddit or some other thing ate my first attempt at a post, so I'm keeping it a little shorter now. I noticed some of the many words (including the Atlas ones) and their syllables occur in the generated galaxy names. Has anyone with programming skill tried to cross-reference all of them? On the release, the game fell short of expectations. But you never stopped taking feedback, never giving up on this game, and have created such a healthy community that thrives off each other. I love this game, but I love what this game has created even more.

I won’t name names, but watching that new release map of that popular first person shooter, and all the “for profit” bs that results and all the problems that franchise is having, it reminds me why I love this game so much.

Your team legitimately cares about this game. You legitimately care about our community. In a world and industry driven by how you can profit off us, I can’t thank you and your team for choosing instead to put us first.

When stacking colored starship trails for the maneuverability bonus, can I change it so that the chromatic (rainbow) trail isn't the one that shows? [Question]

I'm stacking all of the colored starship trails for the optimized maneuverability bonus where you also use the bobble-heads to boost your speed and maneuverability, so I have all of the colors applied at the same time, but as soon as I install the rainbow trail it switches to that color, no matter if I install it first or last. Does the chromatic trail override any other installs and am I stuck with the rainbow trail if I want to do this? For the record I don't mind rainbows I'm even gay but I'm like...angry gay. I would much prefer the red trail or the purple one.

I got a new starship... [Screenshot]

So I was doing beachhead redux for fun and during the "rescue a downed pilot" search I collected around twenty or so starships, selling them each time I had four in my hangar. During one of these trips selling ships I did not want I was attacked by a pirate between the space station and my capital ship after selling one. This means I was in my fighter. I downed the pirate and saw red lasers going by. I had no wanted level and turned where the arrow pointed. It was a ship with a red trail behind it like a pirate, so I knocked it out. I got a wanted level (it was a system authority ship). I ignored it and went into my capital ship as the sentinels were spawning their fighters. Got inside and found this waiting for me.

One fatal flaw with this game [Suggestion]

Been playing this game for the first time recently and it’s one of the most compelling experiences I’ve ever played. I genuinely can’t compare the awe inspiring feeling of exploring a new planet in this game to anything else on the market right now.

But there’s one thing that I can’t excuse. I can accept the bugs, the crashes, that’s to be expected.

What I can’t excuse is that you can ONLY HAVE 6 ANIMAL COMPANIONS?? I believe this is a cruel and unusual punishment for all of NMS’s player base. I will be tracking down the devs and forcing them to fix this soon.

Squid ship found in expedition not spawning when i go to the system on my normal save. [Question]

Hello everyone, i have a question to ask. In my expedition 1 redux save, i have found a squid ship in a station. When i went there on my normal save, the ship would not spawn even after a lot of waiting/save loading and there was some ships i never saw in my expedition save.

Is it possible that ship spawn may change depending on the save? Thank you all in advance for your answers.

Freighter rescue mission [Question]

Hey iam searching for the sentinal freighter and internet gave me a portal code so i entered. Now i have to wait 3 hours and 5 warps or something.

Internet told me if i entered this system i cant get the rescue mission anymore. but i already visited this system cuz the portal, does this mean i cant start a rescue mission in this system? When i warped from a different system to this one i didnt start a rescue mission so i guess i have to wait?

Edit: when i ported to this system i was on my way to the space station when a rescue mission started without warping, did i mess up already?

What about wind turbines or hydroelectric power plants? [Suggestion]

We already have solar panels in game but how about the other forms of sustainable energy? I'd like to use all the storms to generate power by wind turbines or water planets to build hydroelectric power stations. It's just a minor part of the game but I would love to have wind turbines as parts of the electric infrastructure of my settlement/base.

Two Normandy? [Question]

I saw someone’s expedition bugged and they claimed the Normandy twice at the end. Other people commented and said if you claimed the Normandy from a prior expedition you could get two also.. so I restarted expedition 2 and claimed the Normandy from the vendor the first chance I got. I cleared the expedition in 2:45 and after getting the Normandy at the end I went to my Freighter to check my fleet and I currently have one Normandy and a random C class frigate who I didn’t hire. Is it possible to get two Normandy by doing the expedition twice? Seems like they gave me this C class instead so I’d only have one of them..

Enemy threat [Question]

So my brother and I bought the game and was playing today. W

e play in Normal, so far pirates are laughably easy, 3 of them cannot scratch even 10% of my ship's shield (fighter, class A, no upgrade)

We killed 2 sentinel walkers today with a single roamer that has a cannon

Never saw any dangerous animal either.

What are the dangers of NMS? So far every planet we've been to feel like walking in Poland, no enemies at all. Where is the Australian planet where everything wanna kill us? Where are the rednecks with spaceship that will kill us, why are the sentinel so pathetically weak?

What do you guys think? Does the game has a difficulty curve somewhere along the line?

A-class ship vs B-class Alien pistol [Question]

Well this is odd, I started a new Permadeath run..because I died last time XD

Still on the first planet and I find theses two gems just begging to be taken.

First is a ship I have seen as either an B-class/A-class, 19-slots with B-class efficiency thruster all for the price of 2,550,00 Units

Next up is an Alien pistol B-class with 14-slots for 2,495,000 Units. My current multitool I got for free with the S-class Optical Drill while the S-class scanner module I got from a random damaged machinery.

I know people onlt want S-class multi-tools and Alien ones are the best but is a B-class one this early worth it ?

My experience of Expedition 2... [Information]

After seeing many posts about Expedition 2, here is my own experience :

A very easy beginning, no challenge at all to get the ship airborne.

A very good surprise with immediate access to the small Sentinel Freighter, with even the jump capability to every type of star system!

It is the first time I made almost all my Hyperdrive jumps with the freighter, no time spent to upgrade the ship, just a few Salvaged Frigate Parts to push the range of the freighter to 1800+ Lyrs.

Second good surprise, the almost immediate acces to the Anomaly, and to the Golden Vector if you completed Expedition 1.

While in the Anomaly I saw it was weekend mission time and the mission was "Rescue a Stranded Pilot" that was needed for Expedition 2.

Four tries to get the good module to repair the Stranded ship and 1200 QuickSilver in the pocket!

I also looked at the QuickSilver shop to see if I could find the infamous Myth stuff and I bought 4...

Then I went on my way to complete the milestones.

I found a cool planet with plenty of Carbon, Ferrite dust, Pure ferrite, Copper, Dihydrogen, Silver, Gek Stones, Navigation data, Salvaged Data modules...

While roaming the planet I accidentally found a crashed freighter, one more milestone.

To find a crashed ship I played with the Nautilon and its scanner, repaired two techs and the milestone was done even without making the ship airborne.

My Golden Vector gently waited for me to return on its tiny island...

Later, I accidentally found an other crashed fighter... I claimed it and went back to the Golden Vector.

The Myth stuff was really easy too but I used one by mistake before understanding I had to do this in the right place, luckily I bought several at the QuickSilver shop...

At a moment I needed to get 6 Korvax Stones, I landed on a Korvax planet, close to a monolith...

Just realizing I could have...

Can't buy Myth beacon? [Question]

So for the Collective Consciousness part of the expedition, it tells me that I have to select the anomalous research mission from my research log to help produce a definitive map of the anomalies, which Polo will then use to make the Myth beacon.

I don't have an anomalous research mission in my Log. I have a community research mission which is at 33% in phase 3, is that what it's referring to?

The mission guide in my main screen says that Polo HAS crafted the beacon, and to acquire it from the quicksilver merchant. Yet when I go to the quicksilver merchant, he doesn't have it. :\

Does anyone know what I need to do? I did the 3 scans for Nada at the alien ruins. Do I need to do more? This is pretty confusing...

I can wait until someone has time to do the work, I can pay in void eggs (name your price). I don't want you to teach me how, I am asking for someone with this skill to show up - pop em in - get paid - and fly away (not trying to be rude, trying to offer a quick easy option; contracted virtual labor, if you will. Plus I'm awkward and asocial, so this way seems best for all involved)

I just need someone to place several "small timber wall A" on one staircase (13 pieces long) like hand rails, i.e. not jutting straight out, but along the stairs. Shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes I think (but I can't seem to understand glitch building so maybe more, maybe less)

I am now on phase 5 and looking for the strange ship I should be interacting with at the end but cannot find it. where the hecc is rendezvous 5?? [Question]

For Beachhead: I've been warping for hours to get to the last rendezvous point, following the expedition route and I still seem to be no where close to where I need to be. The route just keeps going and going and going and I'm losing my mind! I feel like my game is bugged as I had an issue earlier with being unable to collect the freighter logs (there was no way to interact with it at all) and upon reloading my game my ship disappeared completely from the world. I noticed at one point that when I switched to look at the other route options, when I got back to the expedition route, it was a different route... So now I switch every time just to check if it's the correct route or if it'll change on me, however I'm convinced that I'm probably so bugged out that I'm way off track and I'll never get to the final rendezvous DX I did submit a ticket a couple days ago but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure no one here specifically can help me, but if it's a matter of - just keep going, it's a long time - that reassurance will be enough! (Though idk if you'll be able to convince me at this point lol I'm not exaggerating when I said I've been warping for hours...)

Losing interest [Bug]

So when are they gonna release an update that's worth a shit? I get all of my motivation just drained everytime I try to play. I have to float around for 10 minutes before the ground realizes it's ground, and pray that I remembered to save before attempting to warpdrive in the fear I'll get stuck forever loading. It's the main aspect of the game, exploration, it shouldn't be the most tedious and annoying. Maybe I'm just stupid what do I know.

How long does it take to complete the Echo Through The Ages section of expedition 2? [Question]

I’m currently working through expedition 2, and I’ve reached stage 5 to the point where I have to find the system to deploy the myth beacon.

However, when watching other peoples play through and videos, and while I know editing can easily be involved, it always appears as though the system they have to go to is quite close to them, but mine seems to be taking me towards the centre of the galaxy

Is this the route that has to be taken? as so far I’ve traveled over 16,000 light years with a good amount of this being for this one step, so figured I’d ask to see if I need to travel back to a previous station or to keep going

base disappeared? (xbox) [Bug]

apologies if this isn't allowed, never posted here before. i walked out of the main room on my base, turned around, and suddenly it was gone. all that's left are a tunnel and storage unit. i've left the planet, closed and restarted the game, and it's still gone. i didn't dismantle it on accident because none of the materials have been refunded to my inventory. i haven't been able to find a fix elsewhere on the internet, so i figured i'd post here.

Beachhead Expedition [Question]

Hello fellow explorers! Quick question: I've noticed that phase 5 of the second expedition has encrypted missions, implying almost that the game wants you to have finished phases 1 through 4 completely before moving to 5, as if they're correlated missions. In order to get the full effect of the second expedition, should I complete phase as 1 through 4 before proceeding to phase 5 and the final rendezvous?

Galaxy Centre Bug (PS4) [Bug]

I’ll go to the galactic core, but when I interact with it, the screen turns black. The music still plays, and the “New galaxy discovered” message still pops up, but otherwise, I don’t see the usual animation of zooming out of the previous galaxy and zooming into the new one. If anyone else is having this problem on PS4, let me know, so I’ll know if my PS4 is just old.

Warning: Weekend Mission Potshotter [Information]

Some arse ('Renegade' Ryuk) is attacking and killing people on the weekend Nexus mission on planet. I have PvP turned off but he still killed me using ship rockets AOE. Then proceeded to hunt me while I was trying to recover my stuff at my grave.

Fine, kill me, get a laugh, but hunt me so I lose everything? Dick move. I didn't, only cos I dug deep underground and waited him out. Should have turned off Multiplayer but was in a party. They couldn't catch him.

I have seen several posts about pvp and I am a little confused. I thought that pvp turned off meant that you would not be able to give or take damage. I've looked online but not getting any answers. An Idea For Changing The Limited Time Expedition For The Better [Suggestion]

So first of all i like the game a lot and i like the expedition system.I also am thankful for hello games for not giving up on the game.The only reason im posting this an making a redit account to post this is i heard hello games listening to their player base.

But my problem right now is that i like many am kind of a completionist so when i heard that expeditions ere limited time and i had missed i was kinda i was bummed out then i heard they were brining them back again for winter but now the problem was i didn't now this and had missed the first expedition by 3 days.I now other people in the community have a problem with this as well and i also understand that hello games wants to make this to bump up the seasonal player count.

So i had an idea for a small mechanic to expedition system here's how it works :

A layer finishes an expedition availabe at the time > after completion along with final expedition it receives an ''expedition token'' > the player then chooses an option to do a past expedition when opening a new save and uses up the token

This will also encourage more people to join up in newer expedtions to get the token and increase the player count for seasonal activities while allowing people to visit previous expeditions although i think there should be an extra reward in quicksilver and no quicksilver reward if the expedition is not finished when it was available to not get rid of the whole magic of it being a special community event.

Impossible to complete mission (Artemis path)? [Question]

I have a mission now to grab "impossible data" for the Korvax. Unfortunately, this is much more impossible than they thought.. the entire area of the planet is underwater, with small islands in which structures etc are stuck. There's also a crashed freighter there, which is probably my target, but there's no way to access it cause it's half stuck in an island, half under water.

Is there any chance to relocate the mission, or does my game end here?

Exocraft need some love [Suggestion]

So I've been messing around in NMS for around 230 hrs but never really used the exocraft due to how useless they feel. They don't really add anything to the game.

Nomad - Kinda slow for a hovercraft. Also, its boost is very weak

Pilgrim - Literally just the Nomad but with wheels

Roamer - Tries to be kinda fast with some storage but fails in both ways

Colossus - Looks very big and perfect for mining/mobile base but is slower than a snail and can't even aim down to make use of the mining laser

Both the Minotaur and Nautilon have their uses. Nautilon is due to the fact that it is the only "aquatic" vehicle of its kind, but the only reason the Minotaur is useful is due to the fact that they nerfed the other exocraft so they suffer from the environment. The truth is all of the exocraft feel similar to how they handle and don't differentiate themselves enough to be useful.

To fix this I believe that each exocraft should have its own unique ability. For example, the Nomad/Pilgrim could have a scanner similar to the analysis module that can detect/scan additional objects such as gas clouds or material deposits (or make it so you don't have to get out every 5 seconds to find a buried tressure module). The Colossus could have a powerful environment protection system to go with how bulky it is and a powerful mining laser that can extract rare minerals. All of these changes could make exocraft thrive on planets where standing around is dangerous, such as on extreme planets.

Also, make the Nomad able to strafe. It feels very uncomfortable for it to hover and not strafe. Actually, a revamp on handling would also suit the Minotaur (walk in one direction and have chassis look in another) and Colossus (Not able to literally turn on the spot. Not a tank).

Base auto deleting and terrain reappearing [Question]

Hello all,

I'm looking for tips on base building (I'm new, well returning since the launch) because a few things happen too often. I move an object, the entire room disappears and I lose all my materials. I move a door on a room and the room then the door disappears losing the all the materials. I delete something and it deletes everything it was attached to. The terrain suddenly reappears and is inside my base

What the heck am I supposed to do? I really don't understand how it's this bad.

Capital ship question [Question]

I didn’t know freighters actually cast shadows during the day time. [Discussion]

After 4 hours of reloading an auto save over and over, I finally got an s class resurgent. Like the title says I did not know freighters casted a shadow because I’ve always used the sentinel class freighters, their profile is thin so I never noticed it. It’s so cool having it take up a chunk of the sky and darkening everything around me mid day.

Is anyone else weirdly crept out by the Jellyfish creatures in this game? [Question]

I picked up this game yesterday and I've been having a blast flying around and exploring planets. The system of learning each specie's language is very cool to me, and one of my favorite feelings in this game so far is piloting a Minotaur on a hazardous planet and feeling invincible as I march through hell and back and come out unscathed. As someone who's afraid of fungi I was surprised to find that, despite the frequent appearances of things like mushrooms and "hostile" flora, none of the things in this game really triggered that fear. I love this game!

I'm saving up quicksilver to start the quest for a Living ship because they're really cool and remind me of cuttlefish (I love cuttlefish!). I was also really hyped to get to the quest for the sub because I've been a huge fan of the ocean and sea life since a young age, and I thought it was so cool how you can get a diving suit helmet for your character and build an aquatic base and whatnot. And I was so excited to see what strange aquatic fauna the developers (or the procedural generation) had come up with.

This was, of course, until I encountered the aquatic horrors.

Don't get me wrong, I love jellyfish in the real world. They're probably one of my top ten favorite creatures of all time, but something about their appearance in No Man's Sky is incredibly off-putting.

The first one I saw was of no note to me. I saw it, scanned it, and was on my way. But later I noticed that there was one beached on the shore of the lake, and that crept me out just a little.

As someone who really enjoys ocean environments, I thought it would be cool to build an aquatic base. I ended up having to travel to the ocean for some crystal sulphide so I could make a watertight door, but as I was breaking things with my Minotaur's mining laser I saw my first jellyfish aquatic horrors. I didn't think...

Need help with last quest for second expedition second chance. [Question]

Hey guys I completed all of my milestones except for finding new systems, in the second expedition for the second chance. So I need to find the fifth rendezvous that way I can find a portal that way I can portal around. I can't remember the name of the space station or the star system or whatever. No quicksilver missions in nexus? [Bug]

Hi guys, I’m hoping that the subreddit can help me out. I’ve been playing with my bf, me on steam version and him on ps4. We have been playing together more or less, but I’ve noticed when we try to queue up nexus missions, he has quicksilver as a reward (usually for multiple) and none of my missions reward it.

Additionally, he appears to have the weekend quicksilver mission available, and that doesn’t show up at all on my game.

I’ve tried looking it up but all I’m finding are from several years ago and I’m not sure how valid the answers would be almost a year later.

Help? I actually want the vanity items.

So hard to find nice travelers! [Discussion]

No one will wave back! 😭

I worked very long and hard to cook 100's of different cakes, tarts, ice creams and tarts to give away at the anomaly or as gifts for especially nice or generous other travelers so I don't want to just randomly give them to whoever. So, I go around the anomaly trying to wave to other travelers but no one ever waves back. It took me almost an hour just to get one traveler to wave back lol, I gave him lots of cakes and ice creams. Then, all the other travelers who didn't wave back all of a sudden swarm me...

Very disheartening, wish I could tell these greedy scavengers to f-off lol. Am I wrong for feeling this way or should I just give these out randomly?

Trouble Starting Expeditions? [Question]

Hey All,

I've got a little over 150 hours in the game so I feel silly asking this question but, how the heck do I start an expedition? I've seen a few posts now about expeditions that yield cool stuff, mainly freighters, and I have no idea how to access them. I have no expedition tab in my main menu and I'm not sure if there's an entity I need to speak to in order to start them or if I'm just missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Ship hunting advice wanted [Discussion]

So I found an explorer I really like and have been reloading a manual save for several hours now. Its come in as every class except S. How often should I reload my save? I've been mostly reloading after the first or second round of ships come in, am I screwing up my chances? Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Now what? [Question]

So for context I finished the worm expedition when it came out, I asked here how do I continue the main storyline to meet Artemis, somone told me that I have to wait until the expedition ended and revert to a normal save. So now I that is a normal save how do I start the mission because it just says I need to wait to hear from nada and polo about updates on that mission and to "select alone among the stars" but I dont have that mission available. How do I "trigger" or start the main storyline then?

How does the game work? I can't seem to understand how it works on the background. Are we all playing in the same server? Like if two people go to the same place will they meet or there are different session/servers and will only meet if we share it? How do bases work, if I'am playing with friends and create a base will we both 'own' the base, or will it be just the host's base? When I disconnect does the base dissapear? Can't warp to settlement, base, or star system [Discussion]

I was able to warp to the star system that I set up my mega main base in. I also used this system for my settlement (same planet). My friend set their settlement upon the same planet far from mine, and for a day or so everything was fine.

Then, I could no longer warp to my settlement, base, or space station. I just remained stuck on the warp screens. If my friend is in the system and I try to join him, I just stay on the loading screen.

He removed his settlement from the planet but the issue is still persisting.

Has anyone had any issues like this? I've tried coming off experimental to see if anything changed and it didn't. I've submitted bug reports but being so specific nothing has really been done.

Any advice on how to maybe fix this is greatly appreciated.

Base Boundary Limits Fixed? [Question]

I have a base that I'd expanded outside the normal 300u limit using the trick of placing a small wall at the edge. I went to try and edit some parts that are in that extended area and now I can't. I also can't seem to make new expansions. I did move my base computer slightly when that was first allowed (because it was floating in a weird spot), and I'm wondering if doing so broke the expansion glitch. Has anyone else encountered this?

Texture bug that occurs every boot up of the game, and the odd solution I've discovered [Discussion]

Xbox one player here. After about 20 minutes of play, it seems like the ability of the game to load detailed textures just stops. Characters, objects, even the PC start looking like the colours loaded in splotches, but no detail comes in. I've suffered through this since I bought the game shortly before expedition 1.

I've recently started paying for game pass, so now have multiplayer functionality. Before, if I entered the anomaly, it would be empty and it was the worst affected, all the aliens would be almost textureless except their colour. The tree guy's bark-like face wouldn't look like bark. Etc. Now, anytime I enter the anomoly and there are other players in there, it just... fixes itself. The aliens look normal again, in fact I've seen the textures load onto them, which never happens. After leaving the anomoly, I can play hours and hours before I even see an unloaded texture, and usually it loads in fully in a seconds.

The texture bug definatly still happens, but a trip to a multiplayer anomaly always fixes it, for a good bit of time. Anyone else heard of this? I've been so much more immersed now I don't have to try to ignore the ugly texture bugs.

I hope this makes sense.

TL;DR: Ugly texture bug is fixed on visiting multiplayer enabled anomaly.

Help I think I ruined my playthrough [Question]

I was on the quest to travel to the centre of the galaxy and following the lines on the galaxy map to black holes. As I jumped into the previous system I got a mission update to use the final portal but it came up as I was entering a blackhole.

Now it says the mission is in another system and I can't find my way back. Am I missing something or is it just a case of tough luck you live and learn start over?

How do you know if a star system has been discovered yet? [Discussion]

I’m pretty new, been playing about a week, but for the expedition I have to visit 4 new star systems. I’ve been picking arbitrary systems from the galaxy map and they’ve all been discovered. I even took a few black hole trips to get away from the expedition area but they’re still all discovered.

Is there a way to find non explored systems? Or is it just luck?

First freighter isn't free? [Question]

I have a question. My buddy is new to the game and wanted a good roll on a freighter. I told him to find a freighter battle and park his ship on space station to reroll the class (was in a wealthy system). He did and the battle was over. Now he can't find a freighter battle anywhere and every freighter he encounters isn't free? Is his save bugged? He's done dozens of jumps and played at least 12 hours since.

BTW this is how I reroll the first freighter on new saves. Never had this problem myself.

Anomaly Sideways Glitch [Bug]

Hey all, opening the thread here because I haven't found a straight answer to this question yet. Like many of you, I had the glitch of loading into the anomaly sideways. I had a friend start up their multiplayer game, and I can join that just fine, but despite playing for a few hours on that, when I load back into my game, I'm stuck in sideways gravity on the Anomaly again. Anyone had any luck submitting tickets? Do they respond to those? Has anyone found a fix for this?

I mostly dick around, building stuff and flying around....but after the expedition I decided to follow the Artemis story. I don't usually do the main story in open world sandbox games because its normally garbage (I have yet to finish the main story of Skyrim and I've been playing it since launch)

What an existential roller coaster ride no man's sky is....the writing for this game is far better than it has any business being. I've played exclusively in VR, which probably ups the intensity but damn....

I just got to the part with the third traveler. Prior to that, there was a sequence where I was pretty sure I was sent someplace just to die. Even though its just a game for a moment I really felt helpless. I don't know how much longer the story goes on but this is real edge of your seat kind of stuff. Very thought provoking and all around good philosophical sci-fi that's just as much about life as it is about space. I cant say much more without spoiling it for the people who this post is intended for.

So yeah flying around and building stuff is fun but you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't play the story at least once.

50 hours into this game and I just can't get enough of it. [Discussion]

If you're on the fence about getting this game, get it.

I bought this game two weeks ago after being on the fence about it after the launch failure it had. I looked at updates and just general YouTube videos and whatever reviews I could find to see if I should just buy this game finally. In the end I decided to get it as it was half off and I remember wanting to purchase this game for the pre release hype. I can't get enough of this game.

I don't a lot of time to play games right now and spend any time I do on this game. The exploring is a lot of fun just to see the different planet generations and same for the creatures. I immediately switched to survival because normal lacked much challenge and I enjoy adding the difficulty in survival games, just not into the perma death. I have yet to get into base construction and look forward to that as I've seen some impressive bases out there. I just feel like I'm going to get so much value out of this purchase and I look forward to going down this rabbit hole as I get to the galactic core.

Wish I grabbed this game last year instead of getting back into Eve Online. But here I am now. Got tips for a new interloper, I'd greatly appreciate them.

Don't use Golden Vector in current Expedition [Discussion]

I swapped to my Golden Vector at the anomaly because the starter ship was under-powered for weapons.

I did this after completing most of the second stage, but once I completed it, I was unable to claim the second stage bonus, it just says "inventory full" despite having no materials are all, having transferred them to the freighter.

Whether this will permanently wreck my progress on the current expedition is unknown, but I can't see how I could finish with it outstanding, so I'll probably have to start again :-/

Supply depots across different bases? [Question]

Ok, so I'm still new to this game, so please forgive me if I missed where this question was already asked.

I'm trying to combine the locations of my supply depots, so as to make it easier to withdraw materials. The two locations are far enough away that I needed to create a second base. When I connect the piping all the way from one to the other, I get an error on the supply depot.

Through my testing I've been able to figure out that it definitely has to do with the multiple bases. But my question is whether or not I did something wrong. Is this a known something, or is there a way to get around this?

Expedition Help [Question]

My PS5 almost bricked today and I had to factory reset my console. I'm a big dummy and didn't have my save backed up on the cloud. So I'm restarting my game and my cousin who's a huge fan suggested I run the expedition first. I've never participated in them and wonder how the progress works. I read that all four of the previous ones are available atm during Christmas. Does that mean when I finish one then I move on to the next or are they timed releases? Artemis crashed ship worth it? [Question]

Hi all, i am new at this game and i am just about to complete the awakenings “tutorial” quest line. I did read a little about the game before starting, just some tips and tricks things. But I don’t want to know to much because i want to learn and discover the this game my self without spoilers.

Anyway, I just landed at the Artemis crash site and it seems to be the end of awakenings when i use the crashed data thing. And I see in my log that my main quest is now Artemis.

But that ship? Is it worth claiming it to repair (everything inside is broken!)? Or is it worth claiming and fixing up and selling? It’s a C class explorer and has a lot more slots than my starter ship even though my ship is also C class. Comparing the stats they seem to be almost equal. I like my little starter ship though, but it’s a fight with storage with it.

Otoh my secondary quest is to explore and build a new base with storage so doing that might be better and keep on going with my starter ship for the Artemis story, until I have more funds?

Idea for Custom Settlements and Dynamic Economy [Suggestion]

I hope in the future that instead of having prefabbed buildings and mandatory locations and sizes of colonies, we get something along the lines of a Minecraft villager or more so terraria situation, where places of work, living, and fun are determined buy furniture you place in a settlement. People could show up through a launch pad and at the new buildable overseer station you can allow people who are impressed with your Lil town to join it, wandering until they find and claim a home. We could also use the overseer station to place citizens in detected homes and work places. Things like parties and events would happen at fun centers, where markets and bytebeat studios are. There can also be a diner with cooking stations for chefs to make food for others, or mining drills and storage silos and have citizens work on that. There would also be more of an emphasis on managing as well, where the economy could crash over excessive mining (like the ye ole cobalt money time). Other disasters like tornadoes and meteors wouldn't destroy anything, but would cause the economy to lessen due to increased danger. Frontiers as we know it is a wonderful foundation for the concept of cities, and I believe hello games is already working on some of the stuff I talked about. Breaking ground on LXW404 my planet owo [Discussion]

Im slowly breaking ground on my lxw404 planet.

im about to build a central goverment building and have used the base computer at the end of the original baseline to continue building the roadway to the central goverment building which i than branchout and start using alloys. so the central goverment areas will be all roman and classical and tightly packed and italy feeling. but as i branch out and eventually hit the base limit, i should of colonized the entire planet.

I destroyed of the natural beauty but i kept the shore line where i live. i just put a massive pantheon stairway behind it. WHY?!

Supply lines to haul resources [Suggestion]

Hey travelers and interlopers! I had and idea and would want to know your opinions on having basic supply lines added to the game. Gathering resources from all of your mining outposts can be a bit of a hassle and it would be quite a quality of life improvement to have some mechanism in the game to gather some of them to a central location, for example your freighter. I was thinking that assigning supply ships from your fleet to this task would be an elegant and not too easily available solution. What do you guys/gals think?

RNG frustration and expedition rewards question. [Question]

I've got two copies of NMS. I'm weird. Anyway, when I did the Nexus quest for quicksilver the first time, I got the decrypted terminal location with the first salvaged data I dug up. On the second try it took over 20 (and I'm not exaggerating). Ended up 14 minutes away from my ship and it wasn't a straight line to get the decrypted location in the first place. Didn't have the resources for my nomad, either. :( I did it alone both times. I guess they averaged out? lol

As for the question, which phase completion rewards are account wide? I get the Sparse (?) helmet and armor for the expedition save, but not on my normal save. I did get Normandy on the normal save so I'm guessing the others aren't "permanent"?

Should I start with expeditions? [Question]

I just started the game, in normal mode for a few hours.

I'm not sure to understand exactly what expedition are, as I understand, you start a new game from the tutorial and have a different goal.

So 2 questions: - should I restart my game to join expeditions mode ? - do you frequently start new game from fresh ? Or is there a way to keep the stuff and ships you have?

So, my origin planet has an animal that literally is just a grey ball and other unlikely stuff [Discussion]

Is that common? Are there different colours and can I collect them all to get the infinity animal? No seriously jokes aside I thought it was some kind of flying robot thingie until I scanned it. Oh and also I have literal bushes on that planet. Like normal ass bushes and TWO kinds even who are IDENTICAL in every way except colour (what are the chances of that?) but the green one on the planet appears red in the journal and the red one on the planet appears green in the journal.

Also the initial name of that planet was "Towney Beta" and given the context of the creatures my headcanon is that this is indeed the Beta Planet devs used for the builder update and hence why it has such weird and very very very unlikely stuff on it.

Or is it just a common thing and my planet is nothing special in that regard?

Game really laggy in VR? [Question]

When I play No Man’s Sky on my laptop normally I can play on the best graphics settings with no problems at all. When I try and play it on my VR on my Oculus Quest 2, it is unplayably laggy from the very beginning, even on the lowest graphics settings.

I have tried both a link cable and Air link to the same results. I have also tried reinstalling the game on a different drive but that didn’t work either.

I never have any problems with other games on VR, just No Man’s Sky.

Anyone know how to fix this?

My laptop is definitely capable of running the game in VR, it is a Razer Blade 15 with an 10th gen core i7, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD and an RTX 3060.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 😁

We all know that we can play No Man Sky on Desktop or in VR, (myself, i play desktop/PC but with xbox one controller) but eventually... i thought of something.

"What if i try the VR headset but with Xbox one controller instead of VR controllers and sit at my desk instead of standing around?"

I attempted to test that and interestingly enough, it did worked but it acted weird for me.

Good part: It was interesting, i get to see everything close up but at same time be able to play this with xbox one controller. (was giving my neck a good workout looking around 😂)

was able to get into my ship to fly around, it was great and interesting. Helped a lot with doing the overhead flying-over and spots some buildings or crashed ships or new pods with exosuit upgrade in it, something we actually can't look over to see something while on PC/Desktop. (i haven't tried this with VR controllers too but just first time)

However with Ground-type vehicles like Roamer... that was other whole story.

The moment i get in, i try to check the cockpit out and all of a sudden it froze on me. I thought to myself, did the game crashed? odd but i tried to press the button to get out of the vehicle, maybe it'll fix it. Sure thing it did, it refresh itself--- except, i find myself in UNDERGROUND CAVERN and my ship was like 600 feet away from me (note: I was close to my ship when i was summoning the Roamer car)

it was so confusing, like did it just pitched me over here from there somehow. Few minutes of running and trying to get out of there... I got outside, tried to do it again with Roamer. It did the thing again. I get out, and this time, the vehicle punted itself into the ground STRAIGHT DOWN toward the core of planet and i was falling above it, few feet away from it. I had to move around a little until it restored, putting me back to terra firma (ground) once again.

How to get 2 Normandy frigates [Question]

Hello All, I managed to get 2 normandy frigates in my community play at the end when I was reading through all the BS and then cat jumped in my lap so several minutes by and then I push the button to accept and it seem to accept but kept prompting me so I accepted again and I ended up with 2 normandy frigates. So I started a new play right after that and got to the same point to recreate it but only ended up with one.

Anyone else hear about this, exploit or bug?

Also, if I get the normandy frigate in all my plays and then start the community mission for the frigate again will the menu for the frigate high light again so that I can get two frigates in all those other plays?

Changing freighters [Question]

Hey,

I just got my first freighter for free with a mission. But it's a class C, so I wonder if I ever want to buy a better freighter, will my items in the previous one's storage rooms be lost? Or will there be enough room in the new one to transfer everything in my previous freighter's storage rooms? Because of course, I can't build any storage rooms before I buy the new one. and without those, there will be less room.

Also, any additional tips on moving to a new freighter are appreciated.

Should I go back to my main save or keep on playing the Expedition one? [Question]

Ok, so I started playing No Man's Sky just last week and I'm in love with the game! And as I was walking my very first steps on a cold desolate planet I learned about Expeditions and that the reward for completing the current one was the SSV Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect. I immediately stopped playing my "main save" and jumped right into the Expedition to get it!

Now, at that point I only did a handful of quests in my main save and managed to find/call/summon the Anomaly, talk to people there and go back to my planet. I did not play much on that save at all. Yesterday, though, I completed the Expedition and got my rewards. I also got three ships there, aside from the freighter and the SSV Normandy SR-1. On my main save, on the other hand, I have some sodium and a bunch of cobalt.

So I'm inclined to just keep on playing on my expedition save (as I understand, once I completed the expedition it turns into a regular save, right?), just because I have some awesome ships, items and materials there. But I'm also worried I will be locked out of the quests I was doing on my other save, that, to my understanding, were pointing me towards some cool lore and, of course, learning more about game mechanics.

So what I would like to know from people that have been playing this game for way longer than the four days I've been playing it is if those tutorial missions and story missions will be available on my expedition save once it turns into a regular save. Is that the case or am I locked out of that content if I choose to keep playing my expedition save?

I have no problem starting over at all or going with the main save if that's the only way to keep going with those quests (in fact, if that's the case I will for sure choose my main save and not the expedition one), but if I can just keep on playing with the cool stuff I got during the...

Endless portal animation after completing 16/16 [Bug]

I'm having the problem i describe in the Title. After talking to the Atlas in 16/16 and getting teleported somewhere, the animation just goes on and on. Waited about 15min and then closed the application to get back in the game. Now i'm stuck on this part of the quest and can't continue.

(Tried changing the galaxy to reset the quest, but in galaxy 2 the problem is still there)

Any way to recover progress? [Question]

Hey guys! A little background, I had an account ever since the release of the game. I played on an off for some time, acumulating more than 150h for sure.

A few months ago, maybe 6, my ps4 was rebooted and wiped all my data. Which is fine, because I have Psn Plus and all my saved data is in the cloud.

After a while a downloaded NMS again to play around and when I logged in there was no data to recover. I lost my progress.

Scared, I went to the cloud to download my user data. As I did it, Im not quite sure if it was a new user data that just uploaded when I logged in on the game or if it was my old one. It didnt work. My whole progress is unavailable and I got deeply upset with that. I even sent an email to Hello Games asking if there was a specific cloud save in Hello Games server or something.

Im planning on playing the game again from scratch but I thought to myself that maybe someone here went through the same thing?

I dont know if my data was wiped when the ps4 got wiped or if it was maybe a bug from an update.

Any chance I can see my old saved game?

Hey, I played NMS a bit just after launch and IIRC the Music was ever looping with some changes when stuff happened in the game, now it’s only some short cue’s when like milestones etc happens. I’m on ps5, did I do something? Only setting I can find is the music level and that’s cranked.

Do I have to get Spotify and run it along when playing? :(

Activated Void Etc multiplies when jumping galaxies [Information]

If you jump to another galaxy with an activated void egg in your inventory it multiplies by 1. Is this known?

Can I give them away? I got one in the anomaly and "accidentally" activated it, I noticed after 10 galaxies, now I have nearly 20 activated void eggs and I didn't even want the first one haha. Maybe later.

Do NPCs ever get involved in combat? [Question]

The Vy'keen in particular seem pretty gung-ho about hunting Sentinels, but I've never seen an NPC whip out a Multi-Tool and start shooting at one.

I recently did a 'base defense' against Sentinels at the Settlement I am overseeing.

Wasn't expecting it so it was a nice surprise. But I was immediately taken out of it a bit when I noticed the Vy'keen settlers just carrying about with their business, oblivious to the invasion of their home.

I think building settlements or a base on a world with aggressive sentinels would be mildly entertaining if you could set up turrets or something, and have settlers/NPCs that'll actually pick up a weapon and help fight off invaders.

Why Can You Buy Multiple Myth Beacons [Question]

When I picked up my Myth Beacon, it would have allowed me to buy multiple (I had a little over 500 quicksilver). Why would you need multiple? Are they of any use after you claim the Normandy? Would giving them to other players be of any use if they haven't already unlocked that milestone?

Building sucks right now [Discussion]

I know this has been said before but it really does. I'm not good with ideas for base so when I had this idea I was so excited and I'm half way through, exterior is all done and now I can't place the flooring inside for the different levels?!

I've spent the last hour deleting and replacing parts, wiggling the cursor around to hopefully get the placement just for that little green node to disappear! What am I doing wrong?

Can't use my save file in multiplayer (PS4) [Question]

All my buddies and I decided to get on NMS for the first time in a couple months. We all play ps4 and are all on Normal mode. When I tried joining them I didn't get any option to load my 117 hour save it made me go straight into making a new character. So I tried joining single-player and then getting invited through that, and when I tried doing so my save file was darkened out and couldn't be selected. Did the new update mess up multiplayer somehow?

Help! Can't start any base missions [Question]

I'm on PC (Although, windows store so technically it shows as an xbox)

Anyway, I'm on the last phase of the current expedition. My issue isn't expedition related, I just mention it as I've been on this save a few days now. I should have triggered this mission by now.

I've built three bases but have yet to trigger the "Expanding your base" mission. I can't unlock any of the specialist terminals. It's driving me nuts.

I've done a lot of searching on this issue. I cannot pin the construction terminal from my catalogue. I've tried deleting a base. I've tried building a new one. I tried completing the Atlas Path missions. I've build square pre-fabs, I've built round ones. Nothing will trigger this mission. I have no "base archives" missions either. I did read that at one point it would unlock during the artemis missions but I don't know how to unlock that either. I've been to the anomaly 100 times in different systems. I can't get past the mission titled "The Space Anomaly - Beyond The System?" When I highlight that mission it tells me to speak to Nada and Polo. I go speak to them, Nada tells me to talk to Polo. Polo tells me some nonsense and my only option is to leave. This mission never advances either.

I've got a total of 7 different saves from when I first started playing this game a few months back. This is the first one I've had issues starting/triggering the base missions.

Someone please help me. This is supremely frustrating. The only base type mission I have been able to trigger was "Dreams of the Deep" and that only appeared after I completed the atlas missions. From what I remember, that just unlocks the underwater prefabs, but doesn't trigger the "expanding your base" mission I need to trigger. How the heck do I do that?!?

Plants and the nutrient processor... [Question]

So I'm interested in starting a farm of sorts with all these plants we can grow and processed foods we can make. I'm just wondering if it's worth it? Is there enough of a payoff in units to bother? Also is there any real use for anything we can make? I see sometimes things say they recover health or some nonsense but that's kind of pointless. So the only thing it looks like is some very elaborate part of the game that's just another money making thing?

PS App no longer shows screenshots? [Question]

I haven’t been out ship hunting in a bit. Wanted to share a pretty cool find (I thought at least!) The way I’d get photos out would be to post them on the ps4 feed, then save the photos to my phone with the app. Apparently that is no longer an option. Is there another work around now, or is it down to just usb xfer? I’d hate to have to do that for a single ship here n there.

Space base building and woops moments! [Question]

My first attempt at a space base and I've got some questions! So far all I've gotten down is the docking bay, needs lighting and tweaking, then I'll actually build a base. My main aim was to have a nice tunnel to fly into and out of, the latter being longer. So I've achieved this! And you're absolutely welcome to come check it out! Portal address below is in the system somewhere (Euclid).

My problems are that I had no idea about the 1800unit from planet limit for building. So twice before I built this I built way up higher and then of course everything disappeared. Except for the portal I had up there which I was able to get up to and move, fortunately.

However the problem is the stuff I built up there hasn't been deleted. For example I have two visible landing pads but I've already hit the limit of 9 for the base. The others aren't anywhere to delete but the game recognises them as being there, somewhere. Is there some way I can fix this without deleting the whole base and starting fresh?

The other problem is I wish I'd built this maybe 100 units higher because cloud layering means they'll always be in front of my base when approaching which makes things difficult for landing. Spamming E or X on my controller to make the game pick up the landing even though I have NO idea, lol. So I'm wondering if there is some way to shunt the whole base up 100units somehow? Retrieve invisible base items from out of planets build range limit. Move base up more.

The answer is delete the base and do it right, isn't it? If that is correct then I'd be delighted to receive any and all joke suggestions as an alternative....

I completed expedition 4 when it was out, then returned to the game this week to do the expedition 2 redux as I missed out on that one last time. Upon completion I went to get expedition 2 rewards on my main save, and for some reason my expedition 4 rewards were gone, even though I previously claimed them when I completed expedition 4.

It wont let me claim them even though I have already done expedition 4. Woundering if anyone else has had a similar issue and how to fix. Thanks!

So, what is the deal with HDR on PC? [Bug]

I have an HDR1000 monitor and NMS looks great with it enabled, but it is causing all sorts of headaches. If I try to change any graphics settings with it enabled it locks up. I get pretty frequent hard crashes with it enabled as well.

Can some please explain to me what Expeditions are in simple terms as I can't figure it out? [Question]

Been playing the game for about 27 hours in total now and have just heard about Expeditions? They seem interesting as I'm aware it's a race of sorts with series of challenges along the way but what are they REALLY? I want to start one with a friend but want to know if it's worth doing it now or waiting 6 days till the new expedition starts?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Transferring a ship from a saved expedition game to my main game. [Question]

Has anyone tried to grab a star ship from an expedition saved game into my main game? I figured if I have a portal in an expedition save, I should be theoretically able to portal through from my main game. PS4 Normal. Does this work, I haven't tried yet, or it there another method of grabbing Expedition item.

Is my home planet unable to spawn Settlements? [Question]

The bugged settlement charts aside ... I've been reloading, rebuying maps, restarting the game, doing everything for hours trying to spawn a settlement on my paradise planet. My original settlement in a different system is terrible with awful weather and boulders spawning through the buildings - Id like to restart on my preferred planet.

There are 3 planets in my system. One giant ringed paradise world - and 2 smaller extreme radiation planets. My paradise planet has a trading hub, a portal, my base, etc ... I know it's populated. In a 3 star Gek economy system. And after dozens and dozens aaaand dozens, of reloads I have only managed to spawn settlements on both of the 2 nightmare worlds - nothing on my homeworld. I've tried doing it from space - doing it from the surface of the other planets - etc ... Any settlement simply refuses to spawn on the paradise world -

What could possibly be blocking this from spawning? Do I need to fly to these other settlements and decline them wasting more charts? Is there anything I can do?

What do you want to see in game [Discussion]

I want to see 2 things very badly

Improved water: it would be awesome if water got improved so we could have tidal waves and waterfalls could also add new danger to certain planets and it with it i would also like to see improved terrain as a whole since most terrain now is either flat or mountainous

Blackhole systems: inspired by interstellar but what if we could have a new star type that requires a certain upgrade to reach and here there would be a new special ore (like indium and copper) the star of these systems would also be a black hole but because of that they would be very hard to find

Some extra things i want: your own space stations: i would love it if we could claim abandoned space stations or build our own one these space stations could earn you money and you could also earn upgrade modules with them they could also be used to dock your freighter and they have a bigger place to build

Trying to figure out what is and isn't "illegal", thus far I've just been trying to be a ninja, but there's this one spot I really want to recall later. Just started a new game though and the only kind of permanent beacon I have access to is the base computer.
