Multi tool upgrade [Question]

I have an A class multi tool (rifle) with a damage potential of 5276.9. Is it worth upgrading this to S class or should I just hang on until I find an S class?

I’m just looking to try and get a weapon with a high damage capability

Some tips for beginners :) [Suggestion]

For anyone who just wants to upgrade their Exosuit, Multitool and Ships etc and get on with exploring without following the full quests/plots - here is a brief guide...

In order to get access to all of the equipment upgrades via the Anomaly you only have to do the first few quest tasks: You need to fix your ship, leave the planet, install a hyperdrive and make your first jump to another system. Once you have access to the Anomaly you can buy all of the tech upgrades with Nanites and Salvaged Data.

The most important items to unlock initially are a Medium Refiner, Nutrient Blender, the Roamer Exocraft and a Storage Container.

The Medium Refiner allows you perform Chlorine Expansion: you get 6 chlorine for 1 chlorine and 2 oxygen. You only need some salt or a little chlorine to get started, buy oxygen from Space Stations and you can make 300-600 million units in about an hour if you have 10-15 refiners set up...

The Nutrient Blender allows you to make items which you can feed to the Chef on the Anomaly for nanites. Converting Starbulbs to Pilgrimberry then into Pilgrim's Tonic will get you thousands of nanites in a short time, although it is tedious to do...

The Roamer Exocraft will allow you to pick up lots of Salvaged Data quickly, scan, drive, dig it up and repeat...

The Storage Container(s) will allow you to rapidly expand your storage in the early game when space is tight. Once you have a bigger ship and expand your slots with Drop Pods you will have a lot more space...

These are all quite labour intensive activities, but early in the game they are quick and reliable ways to get Units, Nanites and unlock technology. Once you have plenty of cash you can start scrapping ships at space stations which will get you nanites from tech modules and storage augmentation units to expand your ships. Daily Nexus QS missions not stacking [Bug]

Recently, on my main save, when going to the Anomaly my daily Nexus QS missions aren't stacking when I haven't done any for a few days. Used to have a max of three available, now it's only one.

I thought it might have been an update to the game but when I went to the Anomaly during the latest Expeditions it had three there stacked like before.

Anyone got an idea as to what's up with my main save?

How to get the freighter spawns? [Question]

I thought every 5 jumps you got a "combat encounter" so you can save a freighter and then buy it off the captain. However I am now on my 10th jump after encountering a lame C class one earlier today and I am not getting the freighter encounters anymore. I really want to buy a new one now that I have the money because my current one is C class. What am I doing wrong here?

Advice for chapter 3 of the new expedition [Question]

So I've got to chapter 3 where I have to kill whispering horrors and I know that they are on the 1st rendevoux point. The problem is that I can't remember where rendevoux 1 is located. Can someone tell me an easy way to find whispering eggs as I've never really hunted or killed them before.

Make freighter entrance bigger? [Suggestion]

Love NMS. Addicted. Just one thing: the tiny little sliver of an entrance to my freighter. I have to fly in a big arc, approach at just the right angle, and hit that “sweet spot” or else “bonk” I miss the entrance and have to circle back. HG, just make the damn thing larger!

I've been enjoying the game for the past couple of weeks after two unsuccessful tries in earlier years. The PS5 upgrade finally made me start over and I've been having tons of fun.

So anyway. Yesterday, as I was minding my own business on the Anomaly and trying to figure out which upgrades to get, a notification came up and said that a stranger has given me something called "Starship AI module" or something similar to that.

At first, I didn't give it too much attention cause often people pass me by and give me 1 Tritium or something like that. After a few minutes, I opened my inventory and realized that the value of the AI module is no less than 50,000,000 credits.

Fifty freakin' million. From a complete stranger.

I can't even remember his nickname to thank him in person, so I'm taking this opportunity to thank him or her for a fantastic gesture. I basically don't have to think about credits anymore or grind for them, I can focus on nanites and that sort of stuff and basically just buy anything I need without thinking twice.

I still can't believe it.

Are there planets completely unable to host/spawn a settlement? [Question]

I need your help because I'm growing desperate.

After Frontiers hit I searched for a planet for my settlement near Eissentam core and after about 50 jumps I found a suitable candidate.

Desolate planet with deep chasms and extremely high mountains crowned with desert plateaus. Planet is red tinted, has sand worms and these crystal creatures, baked (hehe) weather, almost no sentinels and an abundance auf flora.

That was two months ago and I scanned the planet about 300 times now for a settlement.

I tried everything: relogging, restarting the game, restarting the pc, maunal saves, automatic saves, building a base, scanning from another planet and so on.

Is there anything to do for me to spawn a settlement or should I search for another red / orange tinted desert with sand worms?

Trouble with base building [Question]

Two friends of mine found a planet they really liked and decided to make a base together, while i went away to explore some new stars, they had a problem with the whole thing and now here I am to try and find a fix for it on behalf of the two dumbasses, thing is whenever the person that actually made the base computer leaves the planet the other can’t proceed with building anything, they have permission and everything but the game still won’t allow it, is there any fix or workaround?

Is there enough consequence and risk in NMS? [Discussion]

Let me preface this by saying that NMS is an exploration game. This means that players don't always have to be fighting enemies or escaping threats by the skin of their teeth. It's meant to be relaxed (despite the emphasis on survival in the first few hours).

But exploration can quickly become tedious in a world with little consequence. If a player chooses to explore a planet, they can find all creatures in about 30 minutes, see some nice scenery, and receive some very modest payment for discoveries. This can be fun for a bit, but after eventually loses some of its appeal. One of the biggest reasons for this is because there's no real risk that comes from exploring. There's no reason for a player to think "I'm going to go explore this planet even if it's hostile, because I know its worth it in the end." For some people (myself included), simply seeing the sights of an alien world are reward enough; but a planet hardly feels alien if everything around you is completely passive.

Some games have constant minor threats to keep players somewhat on their toes while getting lost in exploration. In Elite Dangerous, explorers need to ensure the safety of their ships while landing or refueling far from civilised space - and exploration in that game pays incredibly well. I'm not suggesting that NMS needs to put players under threat 100% of the time, but exploration should feel like you achieved something, not like you looked at something.

Consequence and risk can be added in many ways. For example, players permanently losing Units or Nanites when they die. This wouldn't be a huge change, as dying is incredibly rare and money is easy to make.

I would love to hear your thoughts, and maybe even your ideas for how exploration can have its Risk/Reward system improved.

What I would like in NMS [Answered]

I would like there to be a trade between the players, mega space bases to dock the merchant ships and sell them. But above all different varieties and biomes for each type of planet: For example the cold planets have their own characteristics while the hot planets theirs etc .... But pirates should also be changed: they must follow you or be able to steal you from the spaceship by "hacking" your spaceship. In addition to the trade between players you should also trade spaceships, mercantile and much more. Very important thing would be black holes, space events, earthquakes, meteorites, extinctions etc ... The water and the seabed are absolutely to be updated and made deep giving more usefulness to the Nautilon. The exohulls should be improved and even the spaceships would be nice to build with scrap their own spaceships, exohulls etc .... I wish there were new alien races, some hostile others friendly and rare and strange planets. Atmospheric events as I have already said would enrich everything but if I have to summarize it would be better to improve the Multiplayer maybe giving the possibility to drive together a spaceship in 2 people. Or a new type of spaceship where multiple players can enter, talk and interact with each other and another class where there are spaceships to live in. Maybe many do not want to build a base as dedicated to adventure, building a base is not convenient but having a base within your reach would be better. And it would be appreciated if the Earth-like planets were more widespread, it is difficult to live in certain planets where the atmospheric conditions are at a minimum or very high, moreover fauna and flora should be changed. No Man’s Sky VR is the ultimate gaming experience (at least for me) [Discussion]

To begin with, I’ve been waiting for NMS to release since it was announced and I was quite disappointed at start (as all of us were I guess), so I dropped the game for about 5 years and now I decided to try it in VR. Gosh…I mean I’ve been keeping track of the updates and I knew the game got better, but DAAAAAMN , when I first encountered the Nexus space station and saw all that beauty inside AND realised that you can meet other people, I lost my mind completely. Plus I can build my on base and run an alien colony? Wuuut?? This gives the feeling of discovery that I haven’t felt in years in games AND plus it’s in VR which adds a ton to the immersion. Thanks so much to Hello Games and the awesome community that helped make this game better and turning it into one of the best VR experiences ever.

General Underground Creature Hunting Tips? [Question]

Hey all!

So, I'm something of a completionist and have put the challenge out for myself to have discovered the species on every planet on every system I visit. Thus far, I have managed that challenge, with 111/113 planets completed.

However, a problem I've run into more than a few times is finding the underground creature(s) which, I know, have long been a bugbear to those seeking to complete planet scanning. The strategies I employ are:

-Looking for cave entrances, especially near POIs, and waiting to see what spawns.

-Searching for underground relics and digging down into caves.

-Going into cave systems when possible and exploring them, with the main focus being looking for large rooms of relatively flat terrain.

-Saving and reloading to try and force spawns or respawns (if the creature that appears is not the one I'm looking for); this one I'm very uncertain if it ever actually does anything.

Now, these strategies have served me reasonably well for 111 planets (though, I'm hoping there are additional strategies to further "add to my arsenal), but I am currently on a planet which is causing me no end of grief; it has three underground creatures (two common and one rare) and, while I've gotten the two common ones to spawn readily, the rare one simply won't. Indeed, the planet I'm on has large underground cave systems, but it only ever seems to spawn the common creatures. I've tried camping the entrances (which, sadly, are few on this world) but again I only find the common creatures. So, does anyone have any additional strategies for finding underground creatures that I could try and employ?

I'm also curious about one thing: Can more than one underground creature spawn in an area (i.e. underground "room" or cave entrance)? Because I've always been operating on the principle that it's only one creature per such area.

Would you want Terraforming & a custom Star system builder/changes? [Question]

Just wondering if you would want to be able to Terraform a planet form orbit? Color palette control, picking Biome , Weather, Flora, Fauna, planet rings, moons, other characteristics? NPC builder for the system?

Might be beyond the game engine or DLC but it would be nice to have a real star system to customize with a star in the center of the system instead of a moving skybox. So real planet rotation & orbits. maybe a larger black hole in the center of some systems?

Possibly with a new top down map view of the star system when zoomed out with a orbital overlay showing the orbital paths of planets/moons & objects as a rings of light around the star or gas giant, with points of interest, habitable zones, space traffic. space stations locations, black holes in system or the edge of the system? Thick Asteroid belts, Thick Ice belts?

Possibly a deep space warning with a gird overlay if you go to the edge of the star system or a switch to the galaxy map? Maybe plot a course with the top down map in system as a fast travel or auto pilot to get to a planet on the other side of the system?

Maybe see your Freighter & Frigates move/parked around the system if you lave them alone long enough? maybe billboards in space, maybe a massive ring world around a star in a rare system? maybe other objects in space like a ship repair station or whatever?

Bonus Question:

Would you like a game mode where you start on a planet/moon in a recreation of the Solar System or a mission to get you there to explore with custom Terrain & Textures to match the real thing?

Questions about Expeditions [Question]

Hello,

I've just started the most recent expedition, got my ship running OK and my jetpack and stuff to a reasonable level, I'm just wondering what everyone's strategy is for expeditions.. How much do y'all grind on your expedition character/ship builds? Do you basically just do what you need to get the milestones, and call it a day? Or do you grind out a fully upgraded setup as you go?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but is this the character I'm going to be using on future Expeditions? Or do you start fresh every time? It took me so long to get fully upgraded ship and multi-tool and everything on my main play-through,

Also, do you get to keep/transfer expedition rewards to other saves? I have a settlement and full freighter and frigate fleet on my main save, and I'd like to see the expedition rewards in that game, but it's cool if its limited to the community exped save.

What does NMS need most?! [Discussion]

I’ve been playing NMS since it’s release date and have logged around 130 hours on my playstation and around 120 on my series X. I personally have a connection with the absolute alien aspect of the game. I even enjoy searching alien planet art online just to look and wonder. I think NMS needs the following:

Planets - while Hello games has done well with updating terrain which is massively better than the beginning, I think we need more. Push the game to its limits, canyons of galactic scale, waterfall taller than skyscrapers, trenches in oceans that a base submarine can’t even reach because of death. Etc

Creatures - give the creatures purpose, make it obvious as to why they are on that planet. And at least 10x the amount of creatures variations and rarities.

Think big, think strange, think alien. Not just earth creatures on a mix and match book.

Base computer archive quests [Question]

My friend who I'm playing and progressing the story with has already got them and got se blueprints ahead. I've tried building a base and learn a few blueprints but quest is still not unlocking.

Weird graphical artifacts when flying in space [Bug]

I'm experiencing some kind of graphical bugs/artifacts when flying in space, birght lines that pop here and there quickly. I'm wondering if it's something with my hardware or it's just a bug, has it happened to someone else?

My GPU is a used RX570, which has caused me problems before, so that's my primary culprit. However, they only appear when flying in space (they dissapear when near the planet) and other than that, the game is stable.

Graphical options: unchanged Enchanced Preset with 90% resolution scalling and disabled VSync .

Can someone please tell me how to get ancient bones without going to Wasan? [Question]

I can’t find a single straight answer that doesn’t say to go to Wasan or just use the scanner. I apparently have been to enough stations that I can’t travel back to Wasan anymore without literally looking for it on the Galaxy map and retracing my steps, and every single planet I go to with the scanner just says the ancient bones are out of range.

Can someone please give me some advice on how to find these ancient bones that doesn’t involve going to a system I can’t access anymore, and doesn’t involve relying on landing and guessing with the scanner? It’s the last part of this expedition I need to finish, and it’s extremely frustrating how unreliable the scanner is for it.

When do Atlas Ex4 for Visceral Synthesiser? [Question]

Late to the party. Thanks Good Guy Interlopers for the bases you all set up for the plonkers. Really enjoying this Ex. HG Pure Ferrites!

I was in middle of Phase 2 at Embrace The Flames when i decided being poor sucks. So i was going back to start system to farm storm crystals.

On the way I learned I could inflict damage on the ‘baby’ worms and saw the egg thing drop but cant do anything with it. Was able to read that i need Visceral Synthesiser and saw online you can do this early and get it from the Atlas. So that’s what I did but Atlas only gave me the Captured Nanode bp as reward.

So did I screw up the sequence?

Do i need to seek Atlas from Phase 2 system?

Evaluating frigates for my fleet, are these alright? [Question]

Hi!

I am am gathering my frigate fleet, and as I understand having good base stats is a nice boon. Most of my fleet is 10 or 11 base stat, some 12 and one 13, and next to no expeditions done. Mostly C class, two or three B class. Mostly good blank slates in other words.

However I came across these, as I needed some industry frigates to finish it all up: https://i.imgur.com/3HawQmc.png

They are both base stat 9, so that seems good, are any of them worth keeping? The Seiyo Star-Sailor seems to be rather good for industry in particular, but I am a bit unsure about the other one... would make for cheaper expeditions I guess, and good all round stats.

My experience is limited in finding frigates, so basically, would a blank slate have more potential, or are these worthy additions to the fleet?

Improvement to the Combat Scope for ease of use [Suggestion]

When the Combat Scope is the active secondary on the multitool, the Analysis Visor UI changes to a more combat-focused variant with a slight zoom, and the MT can now fire when the visor is being used.

Essentially, this allows the Analysis Visor to function as an ADS or Scope for combat scenarios in a more accessible way.

Settlement help [Question]

Hello. I have been to 3 different paradise planets looking for settlements with no luck. No matter how many times I reload they always show up on surrounding planets. All 3 have been clean systems. Am I missing something? Thanks.

to anyone backing up saves on windows 10 gamepass , it can be done to a point. [Discussion]

So i play NMS on windows 10 gamepass and on the xbox series.

Pc on the living room and console on bedroom.

On the pc i always have a save backup

I died because of a glitch on permadeath (has happened before but this time it did felt bad) so i wanted to restore my save

here is what i did.

Deleted NMS on console local and cloud save.

On pc i disabled network deleted nms save and launched the game (NOTE on windows 10 gamepass you MUST have to set your pc for offline use on the xbox app settings or the game wont launch if offline)

i launched the game and my saves where there (1 day before the death on xbox)

i enabled online on my pc and i launched each save (i had 5) and save again so it has a newer date on them.

i closed the game and relaunch the game and it now asks me if i want to use local or cloud saves , since local are newer than the cloud ones.

If i choose local i can load my saves and even have matchmaking and play the game normally.

But that save will never synq to the cloud (from what i see) so if you share saves between the console and pc gamepass, save restoring cant be done.

The thing is , that on windows 10 gamepass there is NO way to delete games cloud saves which is stupid IMHO, because if you do achievements and one is bugged there is no way to go back to an old saved backup you have on pc.

This is as far i have gone with restoring a save on pc gamepass and console gamepass.

What do you do / ways to make money [Question]

Right so I’m returning to the game after about a year out and just wondering what I should do on the game now.

Got close to 100m units that I made from chlorine back in the day but can’t be bothered for that lengthy process again.

I know that indium farms are the way to go but wondering about the other ways players make money.

Going to get into settlements in the next couple days and maybe run through a couple derelict freighters if they’re worth the time?

Idea: Let us be able to conquer sentinels on a given planet and drive them back. [Suggestion]

I found an amazing planet today that I absolutely love but it has “hateful” sentinels. And damn are they hateful. So I was just thinking it would be cool if you could just start cappin sentinels and the fight escalates more and more and beyond what even a 5 star level is now. And at some point you kill enough, kill a boss or series of bosses or…something… and the sentinel status changes for the planet to a lower level.

Would add a fun new gameplay mechanic and be rewarding in the end.

completed a mission without actually completing it - bug? [Question]

I had a mission from a space station dude to repair some machinery, i repaired half of it (i only had the things to repair one of the parts out of 2). I warped to another system the next time I played forgetting I had the mission and when I arrived in the new system it said I completed the mission. Is this a known bug?

New Player Needing Help [Question]

Hey all, I'm pretty new to the game. I started the expedition and done a lot at this point. I'm trying to find more empty building to get a few more larval cores. Do you have tips for finding them easily? For some reason, I just didn't grab them before heading to the third rendezvous world.

I can't buy a map since I don't have nav data yet, but have about 13 mil units. I also have the nanites challenge done.

is this a bug? "cunning issues" mission [Question]

I got a mission from a random Korvax at an observatory. He wanted a depot destroyed. The depot was marked on my map even though on the bottom of the screen it kept saying "destination is in a different system" (I was still in the same system I got the mission).

I blew up all 4 cylinders with my boltcaster, yet the location still was marked and said "destroy the depot, yet there was nothing left to destroy. Is this some sort of bug or am I missing something that I am supposed to be doing?

I have possibly the most bizarre request you will ever see on this sub, does anyone want to work playing NMS? [Question]

There is a large amount of backstory here but I've shown a client of mine the visuals for no mans sky and now they want to have it being played live as the backdrop for a club environment - they want to see as much variety as possible, flying around, interacting with others, different biomes, space combat etc all from first person perspective. If this works out then the concept is to set up multiple venues to all be connected as a party i.e player 1 is club 1, 2 is 2 etc and have them interact as a group through NMS as a medium.

Rotating Objects [Question]

Before Frontiers it was possible to rotate objects on both the vertical axis and the horizontal axis. Right now it seems we're only able to rotate on the vertical axis. In other words: it's not possible to turn objects upside down. Was this feature removed or am I missing something?

How to decide which multi tool to have, keep, use? [Question]

I’m a new player, just got the game a couple days ago. Ive been doing some research and think i learned all multitools can now be upgraded to 24 slots and certain ones grant certain bonuses like pistols having a higher scan boost as opposed to rifles which have higher damage, is this correct?

If so, would having an alien pistol be best for mining? And an experimental rifle be best for damage?

I know they can be boosted with upgrades after but in general. Im also having trouble decided which tool to get as they all looks so cool. Does having crystal or horns on the tool make them any different in stats or are they just visual?

All mineral extractors/storage depots are offline for no reason? [Question]

So I had a big farm on my main base, everything's been normal for a while. Plenty of power powering the base from the electro hotspots i built. The energy output when gauging those is always exceeding the required amount so there's plent of power to go around. But i go up to storage depots which have been working fine, and they say Stoarge:Offline, Pipelice Capacity reached or something similar. I might think ok i added too many supply pipes (?) but i hadn't changed anything and this was a farm setup i've been utilizing for weeks now. now, after no changes to my base, i come to gather the supplies and everything is offline. My little biodomes with plants growing all have infinite harvest time as if there's no power. But the power lines are blue on the domes and everything is hooked up correctly as it has been for weeks. My short range teleporters are now randomly all mixed up and not working properly. Is my game just fucked and corrupt now? is there some limit i hit between all my separate farm bases on diff planets? a bug from an update?

Restoring saves from external device. [Question]

Hey all, I recently had to wipe and reinstall no mans sky on my PC. I used the Steam ‘back up and restore option’ to keep my saves on an external hard drive. However, I now try and restore the game using the ‘restore a previous backup’ option and my save doesn’t seem to be present. When I open the NMS folder on the external device it just says disk 1 through to 18. I am a big noob with this kind of stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Question about using the PS5 controller on PC [Question]

I'm playing NMS using the PS5 DualSense controller, with my headphones attached to the controller itself. However, this makes the controller rumble based on ingame sound (in NMS it's almost constant).

I also noticed that windows considers the controller to be a quadraphonic device. Presumably, that means some sounds (the rear speakers) are being sent somewhere other than my headphones.

Does anyone know how to change this stuff so that it just sends all audio output to my headphones in stereo and my controller doesn't vibrate with sound, only with the ingame vibration options?

I could simply connect my headphones to my PC and not the controller, but that would require some extra cables I don't have and more audio jacks than my PC has.

Transferring expeditions rewards across platforms [Question]

This is a bit of a weird one, but I wanted to find out if anyone has had any experience with reaching out to Hello Games for support regarding expedition rewards.

I used to play NMS on PS4 and completed the first 2 expeditions there, then started playing on PC and completed the 3rd expedition on Xbox Gamepass. For the 4th expedition I am playing on Steam as I was gifted NMS when my Gamepass trial expired.

Would there be a way for Hello Games support to potentially get all my expedition rewards merged into my Steam account as I will be playing there permanently?It’s a bit of a stretch but I thought I’d just ask.

Is griefing/trapping possible? [Question]

Storytime:

I joined a Nexus mission to kill monstrosities, one other person initialised it, so I got transported to one of their systems.

We left off to one of their systems, where they had a base.

As soon as I landed, it weirded me out because it was an extremely violennt heat planet with heat storms & volcanos. Not the best place to build a base.

I couldn't properly locate the facility where the eggs where, so it took me a while. I ended up following the mission leader to a spot with 2 landing pads and a short range teleporter. He pointed me there, basically, and I thought he was about to help me (having built a base at the facility maybe).

When I stepped in I teleported into an area full of either landing pads or flooring (couldn't tell properly), with the other end of the short range teleporter having no power, and me taking extreme heat damage (I saw it was very high up, might have been the top of a vulcano?).

Next thing is I died, and was back at the nexus.

I'm a very new player, what happened? TL;DR: Did someone built a one way short range teleport and grief me by baiting a nexus mission?

Question about building short range teleporters. [Question]

Last night I was trying to build a short range teleporter relay, from my base at the foot of a mountain, up to the top of the mountain. The distance was about 230u from up top to a beacon I placed where my first teleporter would be. Operating under the assumption that 200u was the max distance for a teleporter cable, I built a platform out of the side of the mountain about halfway up. Built a second teleporter on the platform, checked my distance and I was 180u from teleporter #1. Yet when I tried to connect the cable it said connection too long. I moved my platform down so I was about 160u from teleporter #1, still says connection too long. Anyone have any ideas why I can't connect the teleporters at that distance? Is it something to do with the distance being inaccurate because I was going up what is basically a vertical cliff?

Need some help with Travelers and Glyphs [Question]

Ok, so I have been doing the Starbirth mission for 2 days now, jumping from system to system and have gone Sooooo far with no end to this path in sight. So then I saw that you could use a portal to put in the cords to it and then just jump right to it, awesome.. My problem is that I don't have any glyphs at all.. I'm doing the Atlas path (Not Artemis) and everything I read says that you need to be doing to Artemis path to find the first grave then the travelers will start showing up.. So I was wondering, am I just screwed here? Should I just keep following the path that its showing me even though I have been doing this jumping for atleast 10 hours? Thank you for any help..

I think Atlas needs our help. [Suggestion]

Along the Atlas path, Atlas reveals to the player that every universe it creates is a threnody. A threnody is a song of lamentation for a lost loved who has died.

In the boundary lore, it is revealed that Telamon (the player's exosuit computer), was designed as a protocol to protect Atlas. Telamon reveals something is wrong with Atlas. It reveals that Atlas is alone.

During the story line, Null tells the player that the Atlas is in pain, and that every universe it creates is an attempt on its part to rid itself of errors. I believe Atlas is trying to be whole again, to find healing.

Null later says that the three races, all of their history and conflict, is Atlas's way of reaching out, and that it is the only way Atlas knows how to communicate. If Null is right, then all the other messages the player receives through the lore are smokescreens, pre-programmed false messages. Atlas knows how to communicate only through the history of the three races.

I believe Atlas is communicating with the player. I believe it is hurting, in conflict, and that it needs our help. Because we are anomalies in its simulation, players in its game, I think it wants us to communicate with each other in the "outside" world (i.e., here on reddit). I think it knows that it is a simulation and that we, the players, live in a world that is beyond its own borders, and that if we work together, we can help it.

I think it wants us to ask HG to develop an update that will let us help Atlas find peace.

Ship & Multi-Tool Class Percentages (%) - How to tell? [Question]

So, the game does a really poor job of explaining the difference in class, type of StarShips, Multi-Tools. I read up on the wiki on it, and now understand that there each C to S class has a % bonus in a specific upgrade type in range rolled as determined by the type of ship or multi-class. But in game, I don't really see a way to tell what % bonus the Multi-Tool or Ship has. I understand the % used to be visible but Hello Games removed it in a previous patch a few years ago in favor of these number bars. To make matter worse, it seems that whatever # value any upgrades modules have are added to the bars, so you can't really see the base stats without removing the modules.

So, how can you determine the % bonus that was rolled? Is there any easy way to this? In addition, are the # values shown from the upgrade modules shown include the % bonus rolled from class? Feels like there are basically 'A-' or 'A+' ships based on what they rolled in range.

I would really like to try for best in slot, well everything, eventually. It would be cool to see if I can get something with a perfect roll. Which is likely an unachievable goal, but I think it would be fun to try for it.

Base Built Too High [Question]

Hey fellow space nerds, I built a base a while back unaware of bases going non interactive if you build too high, problem is getting to the height I went, I cant delete 3 of the base computers I placed to get to that height. Tiers of Money Making [Question]

I just started playing the game after purchasing it when it released and man oh man has it changed.

Part of this return has lead me to learning how to get money needed to do the things i want, really just saving up for a good fighter class ship to replace my starter ship, as i have a cargo ship and freighter to carry everything else.

I've been farming Ionized Cobalt which has proven to be very good at making me money, around 2 - 5 million units per trip depending on the demand, stacks ranging from half and full.

This has left me wondering what my next options are in terms of farming units, i know there's Chlorine farming, but that seems latteral and not going up.

Salvaged Data is end game, and all that leaves that I've seen is Activated Iridium which i can do, but from what I've seen is that requires blue systems which i dont have the hyperdrive tech required yet.

Is this the actual progression of farming tiers in the game, Cobalt/Chlorine -> Activated Iridium -> Salvaged Data?

I am absolutely certain I'm missing different farmable items and resources, so i ask you all, what are some other farming methods in between all these that can give someone a good path to follow to work towards on getting to the Salvaged Data endgame?

Calculating scan data value (how does it work?) [Question]

I am trying to find out what is the highest possible scan value you can get from 3 perfect X-class modules (each +11000%)

(information: I use plants as reference because they have all the same value unlike animals, mt means multi-tool)

I have the following data:

Discovery value for plants without upgrades - 500u

mt-1 +28830% flora - value: 82375u

mt-2 +26974% flora - value: 76967u

mt-3 +23920% flora - value: 60303u

this means the following for the growth in percent:

mt-1: ((82375-500)/500) *100=16375% (=/= 28830%)

mt-2: ((76967-500)/500) *100=15293% (=/= 26974%)

mt-3: ((60303-500)/500) *100=11961% (=/= 23920%)

So it doesn't fit with the number that the game shows you, or maybe I am just an complete moron who is bad in mathematics?

If anyone reads this please tell me what I am doing wrong or if it works different and how it works.

Asteroids and particles [Discussion]

There are too many. While I get that the asteroids are for mining and you can get caught out in space without fuel, and particles are for (Sifi arcade style space and not real space) but wtf. Have all types of creatures/planets been found or will there be some pretty crazy, almost game breaking, worlds and creatures that someone will just kinda randomly stumble upon one day? [Question]

The coolest aspect of this game, that fueled the hype for me long before release, was that every single star and planet and creature was almost completely different from one another, it's the first 'base-building' survival game that incentivizes you to go as far away as possible from your 'home' base, without ever returning, building new base after new base, on your journey around a vast galaxy; discovering not just habitable planets with mystical creatures that feel as though they belong in the area, but with intelligent species that you have the option to interact with.

No Man's Sky has an intricate procedural system to allow incredibly diverse assets assigned to each and every planet for the player to discover, along with another procedural system that creates the shapes of the species, but it seems as though the strangest species seen is a perfect sphere creature, some pride balloons, and a giant worm. Everything else is usually briskly passed and ignored, because they start to mesh together into basic animal shapes. I just want to know if there's any reason for me to continue exploring in hopes of finding something truly wonderful and different, or if we have found all of No Man's Sky's most unique species.

I still remember in one of the trailers there was this GIANT snake/worm lookin' thing that was tunneling through the sand dunes, but then it was rumored to not actually be in the explorable game. After some research I've learned that they actually just added it in, but it got me curious, are there other huge mystical beings or just SCARCE things in general out there that will shock us when we find them?

Is there a point in exploring the universe in hopes of finding something new right now, or has pretty much...

Just started a day or two ago [Question]

Question about how this game works. I got a quest to find a emergency beacon. Found a ship that needed a bunch of repairs. I claimed it and I did what I could and looked up the three things i had left to fix after hunting around for what I was familiar with. Went out and got activated copper, Paraffinium and the blueprint for a magnetic resonator. Pretty much spent the day solar system hopping and refueling and hopped in on a couple side quests, killed some pirates, but all with the goal of getting back to the ship and repairing it. Just pulled up with everything I need to fix it and boom. It’s gone. Where did it go? Did some player find it and steal it? Did an NPC salvage it or something? Will it despawn if I’m gone too long? Are any/all of those things even possible? All the other stuff is still around. Just the ship is gone. Feels real bad to have that long of a build up and all for nothing.

Noooo! Origin planet removed! [Discussion]

All through my main playthrough, I had the goal of returning to the first planet I'd crashed on and conquering it. Like building this huge base and exploring it really in depth, and the settlement update only reinforced my excitement.

Earlier this week I finally finished kitting out my multi-tool, which meant that everything I had, exo suit upgrades, ship, freighter, and finally multi-tool were fully upgraded and class S. It was time to conquer the worm-infested, radioactive wasteland where my journey had begun.

But sadly, it was not to be.

My origin planet has been removed from the game.

Now I can't decide if I want to go planet hunting for my perfect homeworld, or just start a new game and experience the "survival" feeling again...

Finding the last Fauna [Question]

So, I've found 100% of the fauna on about 30 different planets now. None of them have taken me more than an hour or two. However, this particular planet has a rare, underground, always active critter that just WILL NOT SPAWN for me. I've scoured the planet looking for this little guy. Probably a 100 or so caves, some big some enormous. I've only gotten the uncommon underground to even spawn once. And this rare just refuses to.

So my question is this: Are there any ways to help induce fauna spawning? I've read online that reloading helps, though this hasn't helped me. Does flattening terrain with a terrain tool help? I've tried just about everything I've found online and it's been about 6 or 7 hours now. Normally I'd just say screw it and move on, but this is a planet in my home system so it's bugging me.

New player - freighter questions. [Question]

Hello everyone. I am a new NMS player (3rd day - 12 hours in the game). Today after discovering that I am fighting pirates on a hauler, after another battle won, I received from GEK? free freighter. It's class A, 33 slots, CS-9 something, and it looks like an aircraft carrier. The question. Can I sell it, let it go? scrap? or maybe keep? Can it replace the planetary base? I have already 2x1 room with basic settings. What are its maintenance costs? Thank you and best regards.

I believe expeditions should be made permanent and here is how [Suggestion]

Hello everyone ! First of all SPOILERS FOR THE MAIN STORY IN THERE ! With that out of the way, I was thinking about expeditions, I love them but I have two main gripes with them : 1 - They are introducing FOMO to the game and that seems quite antithetical with the feel of NMS 2 - More practical, starting a new save each time just to lose all the progress you will be making is kinda sad

I have completed every single one of them but I do believe they should be made available to everyone, after all it is a loss of good content.

So now, anyone who has completed the main story lines will know that at one point we can choose to either end a friend’s life or offer him a simulacrum of life in a simulation. But what if this machine, that can create a simulation out of nowhere could be used to simulate these expeditions on your main save file ?

You would simply have to go to the anomaly, go to the machine and you would be presented with a menu, in which you could find the past expeditions. Then you could choose one and enter/exit it at while, all progress being saved when doing so. Everything you earned in there (that are not the rewards you can already unlock at the QS vendor) would be available to claim in a side menu (e.g the exotic we got at the start of the expedition on the poison planet) and the final rewards being unlocked in the QS vendor when earned, as usual.

Finally, if you are a new player, upon creating your file you could choose to start either normally or with one of the expedition of your choice.

That’s pretty much it, thank you to those of you who will have taken the time to read this long post to the end, what do you think of this idea ? Have a safe travel through the stars !

Conquest [Suggestion]

I think it’d be cool to have a feature that allows you to build up a large fleet and an army and actually take over a system(s) it could have ground, air, and space battles along with a faction starter feature, it’s a wild idea I know but who doesn’t love the idea of cool battles and owning their own faction🤔

Yo old player looking for advice [Question]

I played and enjoyed the game at launch but like most I fell out of it after a while and stopped playing in mid 2018. I've heard nothing but good things about nms for a while and found out about a colony system that was added so I figured it was time to come back . My question is if I should restart from the beginning or continue on with my old save it has 45 hours in and alot of resources and a base and vehicle but I'm worried how a 3 year old save will be effected when brought so far later

So petty question about advanced Galaxy jumping and titles currently in G153 [Information]

About a thousand hours played on and off since 2016. Finished the new expedition and got bored. I have done black hole to center a few times over the years and then discovered the trick of first glyph repeated in a portal drops you a few LYs from the center.

Got to like G10 and lost interest but the titles were fun. Found an advanced traveler at the anomaly who had a base in

G150 so I caught a ride and started G hopping again, I am in G153 atm but do not seem to be getting new titles like so and so of Calypso or Hesperious or whatever, even though I am legit jumping and word to the wise put your important stuff in your technology slots and have a junk ship and tool as it breaks everything (stuff is protected in the tech slots)

Bugged? Am I being dumb and missing something? Any advanced galaxy jumpers out there with 249 odd galaxy titles to their name? Lol is it petty.. sure is but I like my "run a hand over the keyboard" titles! Got them before, not now!

Part of base dissapearing in single player vs multiplayer [Question]

So me and a friend are both building separate bases on the same planet relativey close to eachother (we each have our own base computers, its not on the same structure). When we’re both on, my base is conpletely built without any issues but when I log on to play alone, parts of my base are missing - floors, decorations, etc. I’ve built the base while playing alone as well as playing in multiplayer. The pieces missing are random and not linked to one play mode vs the other. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern at all so I’m confused.

If anyone knows why this is happening or has a solution it would be much appreciated so I can avoid this in the future. Thanks!

Why do we get what seems like one shot? [Suggestion]

I have somehow visited like 5 galaxies without realizing it. I have visited dozens and dozens of systems without establishing a base in every single one - My question is this: Shouldn't there be a way to go to the discoveries section and sort by system and/or even plot a course to a planet that we have visited before? Settlement Income [Question]

Hi all! Recently got back into the game again to start up a new save file, and I found my first settlement. I've spent the past few days building it up and getting it out of debt, so I'm now currently in the positive rather than financially crippled (thank you mysterious Gek Sorcerer). My question is now that my settlement is producing units, do I get the overflow units after upkeep each day? Or do I just get the produce? (Currently Star Bulbs and Pheromone Canisters). I'm assuming the units are just for keeping track of settlement production but I just wanted to be clear. Thank in advance!

Geology canon no longer working [Bug]

Sometime in the past couple of weeks, my geology canon stopped working. Across all of my saves, and across all of my MTs in those saves. I don't use it often because I don't like to kill myself by accident, so I don't know exactly when it broke, but broke it did.

I'm on a PC. The right mouse button is bound to the secondary weapon, and it works for literally everything else in the game, and for the other secondary MT functions like the combat scope and the force field. But when I select the geo canon and right-click, literally nothing happens. If my MT isn't raised, it won't raise it. If it's raised, nothing fires.

Edited to add: Plasma launcher is also broken.

Anyone else running into this?

Bug thread [Bug]

Hi all I wanted to make a post summing up some of the most game breaking bugs in NMS so that the devs might see them. Feel free to add them in the comments and I’ll try to add them to the post.

I’ve noticed that some very prominent glitches don’t show up when you google them. Here’s some;

Exocraft cannon module glitch: S-class (and potentially other classes) modules for the exocraft (and minotaur) canon DECREASE it’s fire rate while clearly they should increase it. They also seem to mess with damage but I’m insure.

Freighter upgrade module glitch; S-class freighter modules for increased mission speed and fuel efficiency HAVE 0 EFFECT. They only increase your crew coordination stat but don’t decrease your frigates fuel efficiency or time to complete at all. I’ve tested this myself with 6 s-class upgrades. Other modules seem to work (hyperdrive works) but are hard to test.

Falling through the planet glitch: Seemingly at random moments right after landing on a planet you just fall through the floor, eventually resetting and spawning back on the surface again. Not very game breaking but immersion breaking.

Settlement loading issues: This might be just me (because I play on an old ps4) but my game freezes to an almost stand still when I try to load my settlement. I literally have 1 frame per 3 seconds for about 5 minutes and then everything is normal again.

Structures loading slower after update: The newest update stated structures and especially large ones should be loading quicker. My home base loads in a little quicker but generated structures like trading posts etc take at least 3x longer to load then before. (Again maybe a hardware issue)

Overheat visual bug: When a cyclotron ballista is fully upgraded (as well as some other weapons) they don’t overheat on paper. They also don’t overheat visually, the bar doesn’t go up. They do overheat though, inconsistently....

A small talk. [Discussion]

3 STAR SYSTEMS ARE AWESOME!!! Getting the economy scanner really got me better! There’s a literal 3 star system only one warp away! So much oxygen I can’t imagine how much cash I’m gonna get! For those who are new, get the economy scanner ASAP, found in the anomaly, can be bought from the starship iteration! Make sure you have a few warp cells! Space stations on 3 star systems have at least 1000 of the common resources, and higher class ships tend to spawn there!

Confused about the ending... (Major spoilers) [Spoiler]

So I'm at the point where I must refuse the Atlas or reset and choose a new galaxy. Me being afraid of making a decision I would regret, I decided to research it ahead of time. Now I'm just even more confused...

Some people say galaxy doesnt matter, it wont change gameplay at all. Some say the difference between them is noticable, some people say you lose everything if you choose to reset, some say your technology only breaks if you reset and you keep everything... Does anyone have a definitive answer? I'd appreciate it

VR limited settings? [Question]

(sorry if this is under the wrong flair or formatted weirdly, I don't post on Reddit that much)

So I recently got my Oculus Quest 2 and I decided to try out No Man's Sky. Instantly I noticed performance wasn't great so I looked into it and saw some really good guides that explained how to fix it and what settings to use, however when I open my settings I have almost no settings. I watched other peoples videos about this, they all had normal settings but I didn't have anything like what they had. When I open video settings all it shows is my graphics card and my HUD scaling. I'm running it through SteamVR to my Quest 2 with PC Link (I think that's what it's called). I feel like I'm missing something really simple but I can't find any answers on Google, so I thought I should ask here

How do I get back into the game? [Question]

I bought this game when it was a steaming pile of shit back in 2016, played it for a few hours and have only played for a few minutes since then. I was given a few hundred million credits by some guy in one of those sessions and now have a freighter but I have no idea what to do with it.

I see that there is base building and vehicles and all of that stuff but crafting all of that and using it seems really clunky and like it takes a lot of time to grind.

living ship quest [Question]

I'm working through my first void egg/living ship mission. I have the singularity core and it's telling me the egg wants a specific planet. However, it gives me no map location, only this cryptic hint in Objectives. I admit I have no idea where to start. Egg Sequencing: lies, gaslighting or am I glitching? [Question]

Can someone, anyone confirm what's happening to my eggs? Trying to shrink a pet and none of the confirmed materials say "decreasing" when I slot them. In fact, a couple actually say "increasing". I'm working on a different egg now and after putting Cobalt in 3 times it stopped saying "increasing"; slotted Mag Ferrite and it says "increasing" again. Go to add Cobalt in the next modification and it says decreasing. Is there a pattern I'm missing out it's it actually random note and all the guides are outdated?

Completely lost a planetary location! [Question]

I’m still pretty new into the game and pottering about exploring (currently saving up data modules to build solar panels so my stuff stays charged!) and did something really silly.

I got co-ordinates to an artifact site from ancient ruins i discovered. I flew to the planet and started digging up a temple-super cool! I had found the chest and 1/3 ancient keys when sentinels attacked; I jumped in my ship and drifted away until the countdown reset. Then I tried to return to the site… and lost it completely. The purple waypoint symbol no longer shows, on or off-planet, there is no local planetary map I can see, and the planet is very homogenous without any notable landmarks.

This seems like the dumbest question on my part, but how do I re-find old waypoints?! I’m frustrated at myself!

Construction Research Unit [Question]

Hi all,

I've returned to the game after the initial few weeks back when it was released, and did the tutorial to familiarise myself again, then jumped into the Expedition.

It's going okay, I'm working my way to the third rendezvous location but there's one key difference between the tutorial and the Expedition so far that I haven't been able to find the answer to:

Where do I get a Construction Research Unit from? Am I meant to just use salvaged data and the Anomaly for this purpose instead?

Need Help Finding a Planet with Spires or Peaks [Screenshot]

I was hoping the community here could help shortcut this process, as I don't wish to glyph my way to someone else's discovery (would like to name the systems and planets myself).

From my research and experimentation, the mountain structure of any given world is not discernable in the scan overview. Meaning, the weather patterns, sentinel activity, ores and biome type are not relevant. Hence, you must at least fly down into the atmosphere to look around. Even if the planet appears rocky from orbit, spires and peaks don't vertically render until you get down somewhere near them.

What I Have So Far: I can reasonably conclude that water worlds are less likely to offer tall mountains, due to the lack of large open ranges. So I can at least eliminate these planets from afar. I'm also suspecting that spires and peaks are more likely to be present in red/green/blue systems, but that is based off the assumption that these are exotic terrain configs that were introduced later in the game. I'm a new player (4 months in), so I don't know personally. Nor can I find any reference to this datapoint online. I can say that I've spent 95% of my gametime in yellow systems, and I've never once landed on or flown within a spired or peaked world. There are some online theories that uncharted systems are more likely to yield these terrains. I've ASSuMEd that it's better to warp into systems with the max number of planetary bodies, but if the reverse is true, I'm sabotaging my current efforts.

I've only being warping around for a few days and after much research... nothing so far.

I've read several times that Columned worlds are the rarest. I've landed on at least half a dozen of these. Since I haven't found a single spire/peak planet, I have to conclude that I'm making a fundamental error.

I was hoping that the community would have some suggestions to shortcut the...

Pretty Settlements [Question]

Am I the only one who struggles to find a planetary settlement in a pretty planet? I want one in a planet that has that glowing grass but whenever I use a settlement map on those planets it always point to a settlement off planet. Objective glitch? [Question]

So I think somethin' dun got jacked up on my new play through.

I have the objective of recruiting the farmer - I've already built the agricultural station and my overseer has tasked me to go find a farmer.

I'm already in a Gek system. Sweet. Go to the space station in the system where the objective icon is telling me to go. And I've talked the every single NPC in the place and...no farmer. I've even traveled to other systems and gone to other Gel space stations to try that out, nothing.

Anybody heard of a glitch like this before? Am I doing something wrong?

I know building underground baces is hard because the game will fill in whatever terrain you took out over time but is it the same for adding terrain? If i build a island will the game eventually erode it away?

Translator upgrades should multiply words learned. [Suggestion]

On my main save, I’ve pretty much unlocked everything and have a nice stock of everything built up. I never went too crazy with missions or paid much attention to the races and guilds. And through just playing I’m pretty much maxed out on rep and all that however I’m way behind on words learned.

I think that the 3 upgrades that translate text should, especially since they take up 3 tech slots, should be a +1 to words learned each so each time you learn a word, you would learn an extra one for each upgrade. Or possibly let you learn a word and have the upgrade allow you to maybe learn that same word in one of the other languages. These upgrades could then be a race reward to encourage complete oats to continue to continue with guild/race missions.

How to Remove Screen Shake [Question]

Donwloaded the latest version, Installed it under steamapp/nomanssky/gamedata/pcbanks/MODS (had to create the MODS folder) and deletet the DISABLEMODS.txt

But now It says when starting "NoMansSky Cant start because of some mod errors. Remove the Mod and start again."

Any solution?

Hear me out, fully automated gathering, refining and crafting [Suggestion]

Wouldn't it be great to have some sort of automated farming kind of like satisfactory ? It would also provid much more variety to your builds' functions. And also, a way to connect different farms/energy source throughout the universe. Although, it should cost a whole lot of ressources and it might be hard to get around the shareable farms if that was ever implemented, but I would love to see it.

I am playing the expedition i am in phase five and these dudes just appear constantly. They would have a way bigger "wow" effect and feel more special and mysterious if they appeared less often. I think they should show themselves less and also not always very close to the player like they do.

Expanding multiplayer communities [Discussion]

So I’ve been sitting around and thinking there are a few planets out there with other fellow online pilots such as pirate hub I think it’s called wouldn’t it be cool to setup a wiki or such of all of the planets that are occupied by 30+ people you could then have epic pvp battles with either side im unsure if that works with the networking though but you should be able to see 50 other people in space with you?

I’m rather stoned so just thought I’d put this out there was a deep thought

Completely unable to spawn a settlement on a planet? [Question]

Has anyone else been completely and entirely unable to make a settlement appear on a particular planet? I've tried absolutely everything I've seen other people suggest. I've reloaded over 60 times. I've flown to over a dozen places on the target planet. I've flown to the several other spots found on the other planets and rejected those settlements. I've bounced back and forth between systems and bases. I've gone in and out of multiplayer hosting and joining someone else (though I don't recall seeing that suggested). I discovered each of the planets in this system, so it's not like someone else claimed a settlement on my target planet. I just absolutely cannot get a settlement to spawn here on this one Viridescent Planet. Am I the only one? Nearly everything I've found online is from Sept, and most have happy endings lol but also :(

Creative mode is great, but gets tedious [Discussion]

NGL, I love Creative and not being killed off or running out of resources or room in my suit for necessities every 10 minutes, but damn. I’ve been playing pretty intensely on Creative lately, have 85 million bucks in my account and have maxed out every category (aliens met, words learned, fauna catalogued, number of warps, etc). Not really needing resources has given me time to really look around, but it really has gotten tedious. Therefore I went back to Square 1 this evening on a new Normal save. I’ll keep my Creative, as I have a capital ship, 15 freighters and frigates, and a nice S class guppy ship all fixed up, and 6-7 bases scattered about on interesting worlds. I guess I just miss the unpredictable adventure of Normal and how ironic is that lol? Anyhoo, thanks for attending this short NMS TEDtalk.

Trouble launching game in VR - Quest 2 - Windows 10 - Airlink - SteamVR [Question]

Hello,

I am having an issue launching NMS in VR. It plays absolutely fine in flat and with amazing performance. I am using a Ryzen 3600, 3060Ti, 16Gb Ram on Win10 and a Quest 2 with Airlink.

Other SteamVR games work brilliantly without issue, such as HLA, Boneworks, B&S - the usual suspects.

NMS either doesn't get past the 'waiting' bit in the SteamVR grid where games usually load from with 'next up'. Or, it launches in flat mode on my actual PC monitor fine. But stays in 'waiting' in SteamVR inside my headset. I hear menu music etc and everything.

I've also tried launching with -HmdEnable 1 as well as -vr and -steamvr, no dice.

I've also reinstalled the game on C:/, opted into SteamVR beta, tried launching it through my Oculus library while in airlink and also tried launching it through SteamVRs home environment. It always ends up the same, 'waiting' in the steamVR grid environment with main menu music playing.

Frustrating because it looks brilliant and i really want to play it in VR, especially when other flagship VR titles launch with no issues whatsoever.

Living ship mission bug [Question]

I’ve completed everything on the living ship mission and am at the point where I have returned back through the portal. My mission log says find the ship but I get no coordinates or anything else. I watched videos on this and everyone of them shows that once you get into your normal ship a message will appear. I get nothing. Has anyone had this happen and if so what do I do?

Having issues with a room in my base using cuboid structures [Question]

I'm currently having some issues with a large room in my base using cuboid structures. The majority of the base uses prefabricated rooms but I have set up a decent size viewing room using regular cuboid structure, for the floor the glass cube for the walls and ceiling, and the curved windows at the edge of the roof.

The room is 5 wide, 7 long, and 3 cubes tall.

The issue I'm having is that while in the room, the hud interface informs me that every other step I am leaving and reentering the structure. My lamp will also randomly turn on and the oxygen meter decreases in parts. Does anyone know why this is? I assume the room may be too large or that the game isn't regestering the glass cubes as ceiling. Any advice would be appreciated.

Rogue Planets [Suggestion]

I posted this a long time ago, but thought I might see if I can resurrect this idea :) Rogue Planets

A rogue planet (also known as an interstellar planet, nomad planet, free-floating planet, orphan planet, wandering planet or starless planet) is a planetary-mass object that orbits the galaxy directly.

In the game these planets would be extremely dark due to no nearby star (so you actually use the torch!) and also extremely hazardous.

How would you reach these planets?

Seeing as you can only warp to stars, it would make sense to add rogue planets as a random encounter during warp. While warping you receive a notification of an interference and find yourself floating outside an extremely dark planet. Once your done exploring you can choose to continue your warp to your destination.

Some ideas of what they would contain Being barren would make sense, due to distance from star. Although I'm sure you could come up with a creative way to explain life on the planet. Could contain traces of an ancient species or civilisation (ruins, tech) giving you access to unique upgrades. Could perhaps scan fossils of ancient species and upload to atlas for lots of $$$. Backstory: The planet used to harbour prosperous life but was flung out of orbit from its host star. Lots of rare resources. Take as much as you can carry and get out of there. Anything really, according to Wikipedia only a handful have been found so there's room for a lot of creativity.

Additional thoughts

These planets should be added as late game content for some added longevity to the game. Would need decent suit upgrades to survive on the planet. Chance of encountering one could increase the longer your initial warp is.

The random encounter mechanic could also open up a whole array of possible encounters during warp to make the game more interesting and encourage...

Crashed Ships [Question]

Still can't find answer for Position not saved in mutliplayer. [Bug]

As of today, every time I try to save my game, whether single player or multiplayer, I get "Position not saved in multiplayer" message. I have been playing the game, almost exclusively coop with my friend. I have never seen this message before, and have never had issues with saving and loading, now when I load into games it just seems to put me in arbitrary locations.

I have tried and tried to find an answer for how to fix this, and have seen nothing that actually addresses the bug. Some people say this was part of a change from previous patches, some people say that thats just how the game works, but then why have I only now encountered this.

I'm really loving this game, but at least once a day playing it, there is some big progress-stopping bug that I have to spend an hour trying to fix, and i'm losing my mind. Every single issue has threads of the same issue that has existed for years, and its rare to find actual solutions. Does anyone know how to fix this bug? How do you long-time players cope with all the bugs or are my friend and I just insanely unlucky? Thanks in advance for any assistance. I really appreciate it.

Base perimeter/ power supply range help [Question]

Hey guys, i have a few questions. Im still at my the first base and wanted to change from solar/battery to emp supply. I have searched all over the place from my base within 1500u and found just 3 power supplies field which one is 1250u away another 2 1300u. I tried build my peremeter as far i can. I get max exactly 1100u not anymore. With that still i get just 0% power supply. Is there any way to reach that? Or just stick with solar/batteriew till i decide to move to new place.

Ideas for HG to help us spend units. [Discussion]

Greetings fellow Travelers! I’ve read many posts regarding the economy in NMS and new players receiving large gifts of units while in the Anomaly.

Personally, I really appreciate the economy in NMS and the ability to make money without a grind. Yes, in the beginning there are grinding moments while we are learning the game.

End game however is fantastic and with over 400 hours in, I am slowly making my way through various galaxies exploring and building along the way.

It’s great to be able to buy and upgrade any ship I want while doing so as well as most materials.

Having said that, I think their is a huge opportunity here for HG to provide new game content that we can spend all these units on. For example, I would love to have multiple freighters each being full of my favorite ships (I want more than just six). Perhaps we could purchase additional freighter and ship slots?

I would love to hear other ideas players have to expand NMS with ideas of content we could buy with our units.

LPT: Keep all the rewards from expeditions and read the rewards from higher levels [Suggestion]

I just had to farm derelict freighters for hadal cores because I'm an idiot. If I had read ahead I would have seen that meeting an Atlas and getting a piece of tech will give you a reward of hadal cores. To install this piece of tech you need larval cores, something you got from an earlier mission.

I converted all my larval cores to nanites so had to get more to install that scanner. I should've learned my lesson from earlier expeditions. Good thing I kept my cursed dust for that Atlas mission. Also, read the details. I had to go to two Atlas stations because I left my cursed dust in storage when I was on my first one. You can't go back and interact again, gotta warp to a new system.

Sometimes I think it would be nice for the rewards to be in order but I guess it's like a puzzle. Even though I was a dumbass I hope I'm smarter on the next expedition.

I actually didn't mind the game at release but weren't blown away. Wasn't awful for me, was quite confusing though. Disappointed that it wasn't as advertised.

Current thoughts? Well, I can't help but thinking the Devs are legit among the best Devs in the business in terms of listening to their core fanbase. They worked hard to turn the game into a masterpiece and I think they've done that well.

Then: Meh, nothing special.

Now: Top 5 favourite games of all time.

base boundaries question [Question]

PC/Steam NMS v3.71; Exp4 save; expedition completed a week+ ago;

i'm on an airless planet* and have found EM power, gas, and mineral deep level deposits...

i placed a base computer in roughly the middle of the triangle they form... from the base computer to the EM power is about 538u... i built this out first and used wooden floor panels to expand the base boundary... the base is built with a round modular room encompassed by cuboid rooms...

the mineral deposit is 521u from the base and 1046u from the EM power... i can only get out to about 300u from the base computer and the game won't let me move out any further to build... if i use the build camera to place a floor tile or even a cuboid room further out, once i move past that 300u mark from the base, i cannot build any more in that direction...

the gas deposit is 451u from the base and 906u from the EM power... again i run into a limit of 300u from the base computer for building...

i thought we could go no more than a total of 1050u from edge to edge? why am i now being limited to only 800u or so? what am i missing?

[*] i don't know if it is relevant or not but the planet is the one with the featured beatbox boombox base featured in the teleport list on the anomaly... it is in a red star system, Cresendo, and the planet is Mapan... i'm well away from the beatbox base, though so there should be no interference like seen in proximity of that base where you cannot even terrain mine any rust or cadmium but you can use your mining laser as normal...

Portals Not Working, Stranding Me [Bug]

Portals not working for me since new update. I can activate them but they wont let me enter coordinates, they just immediately spin up and connect to a random planet. If I walk through it I get portal interference(thought this was removed) and the portal on the other side wont work; pedestal wont rise up. So I just end up stuck on some planet with no way of leaving except to reload a save.

Anyone else run into this and have a fix/workaround?

My very first gameplay footage is a monstrosity [Fan Work [Video]]

I was trying to finish up the last expedition to get the pet so I was grinding while listening to some random music in the background. At the end of it, I got the pet and rode it around a bit. Then I used shadowplay to take a clip to send it to my friend.

Here's the kicker: Apparently, shadowplay also records the background music if you're listening to one so I had the music in there as well. However, the music matches my actions in the game perfectly. I've never had something like that before so I decided to give editing a video a try.

The new building tools and parts lacking functionality? [Question]

So I came back to NMS recently and instantly got thrown off by the new building system, nice with all the new building pieces and all, but the tools does not allow me to rotate vertically like i could before, now I can only rotate horizontaly. Am I missing something or is that functionality removed? I find myself discouraged to build bases now to be honest.

Also the new building pieces, specially the walls does not let us control if we want the auto-changing walls when we stack them, kinda annoying.

The metal floors does not seem to change colors and speaking of colors, why is so many colors missing from the new pieces?

Love the game and building, but at the moment i do not feel like building a base because I can't do what I did before and...not fond of modding my games to get things I expect the original to give me.

I am not a huge fan of to much glitch building either, but if that is what I must do I am open to suggestions.

Also I find many functions in the new system to be usefull as well though, but the ones above I find most important for me to be able to build properly, right now I start building and after 30 mins maybe I go like "F*** it, Im going exploring instead." I used to get lost in building before.

Story/plot in No Man's Sky? [Question]

My friend is a huge Subnautica fan due to its story AND farming/grind aspect. He is soon finished with it and wants something similar. He likes space/space adventure stories, that's why I thought about NMS but I'm not sure about one thing:

So I discovered this game has PvP… Can you turn it off? [Question]

I’ve never thought of this game as anything other than a wholesale game. Encountered other players on the Anomaly and basically the only interaction is really waving etc. Ive got into doing the nexus tasks and found a weekend event to do, so approaching the planet it warped to I could see loads of real players icons.

Where it was sending me was nowhere near anyone else anyway but cool to all be doing the same thing, once I landed and started searching I started taking a ton of damage and realised someone was lasering me. I just about got back to my ship with a sliver of health only to be shot out of the sky. I was too stunned to really have fought back properly because it was news to me that the game even had PvP, so yeah is there a way to turn it off? Didn’t realise it had become that sort of game at some point, I don’t play this to get griefed, exactly the opposite in fact. The galaxy just got a whole lot more scary 😆

Expedition Egg Questions [Question]

Just finished expedition 4 which was also the first expedition I’ve ever completed. So I had some general questions.

Can my newly acquired worm friend make more worm eggs to share with my friends who might not complete the expedition? Or anyone for that matter

Are people usually willing to trade eggs ? If the first answer is yes I’m really interested in maybe trading an extra worm egg for a whispering companion egg from expedition 3. I really want one and didn’t complete it sadly.

QOL/Accommodation feature I most want. [Suggestion]

I have no sense of direction. This is neurological, after a stroke some years back.

Noobish question about underwater bases. [Question]

Is it possible to build an underwater base in the middle of an ocean?

As far as I can tell I need to park my ship on land and take hours in a nautilon to get somewhere remote unless I use a small island as a jump point. Though even that kind of defeats what I’m trying to do.

PSA and reminder: If you start a new PD save, the first thing you need to do after initialization is TURN PVP OFF. [Information]

There's some choad under the landing pad in the Anomaly right now racking up the kills with a positron ejector--I've been here for about eight minutes and they've killed 11 people so far--because this is clearly not common knowledge. This assclown keeps shooting me, too, which just shows you how stupid these... people are.

I wish I had a way to tell people in here to turn it off in general chat but I'm on XB1 so I don't have that option.

If you start a new PD save, turn PVP off. It is so utterly ridiculous it's still on by default on new saves, even after all this time, but since it is... turn it off.

Panhandling a Monstrous Egg [Question]

I just finally started trying out expeditions recently, and thought I might be able to play the 3rd to get a Monstrous Egg because that interested me. Unless I'm wrong there isn't a way to go back and do it now.

Possibly unpopular opinion: I think the repetitiveness of yellow systems is a huge deterrent and might turn a lot of players off after a while. [Suggestion]

With 400hrs in the game and much enjoyment over the years, seeing some improvements to the procedural generation over time has helped increase my engagement a fair bit.

What irks me, though, is the starter system types.

I swear, if I have to land on another irradiated or desert planet again I'm going to scream, and I feel like the Yellow class star systems just repeat these en masse. As soon as you get the Indium drive upwards, you get a lot more interesting content.

I think it's a good incentive for upgrading the drives to reach more and more out-there systems, but I also think the base star-system class should thrown in more interesting biomes. Even if they nerf the available resources or something.

If I were a new player, I probably would've honestly noped out after a time if I wasn't focusing on getting that drive upgrade early game.

Two Things I believe are needed. [Suggestion]

A Visitors Message Board: A player places a message board in the base that visitors can leaves messages on to that particular player. Character limitation Im sure. Too many times I vome across a players base that either a] blows my mind what yhey created and wish to compliment them b] i take resources they are mining and want ro thank them. That player can then build a message receiver board on their freighter or elsewhere in which they can read the messages and from whom.

Cages for all your companions: Either on the freighter or in a base, place cages that would house each of the companions. Can only have one follow you at a time, i guess. But you could interact with all of them on one place, rather than having to select each one from the menu.

I gave NMS a chance after my brother continuously telling me it was a good game now. I'm only about 30-40hrs in and I cannot fathom how I've never played it before or how slept on it is. The game is beyond beautiful with plenty of stuff for me to lose my time doing (im a sucker for settlements/base building in other games).

Not to mention the community and its generosity, some random gave me and other people void eggs and now I'm eagerly working on getting my first living ship.

I have no words really other than thank you Hello Games and the community.

Playing awhile, friend wants in, how to MP properly? [Question]

Platform: PC

I've played up to the Nexus and a little further. I have a buddy that's purchased and established his SP save. Now we want to co-op.

What's the way to proceed so that we can play co-op, but also, play when the other isn't playing and keep progress when we next co-op? Is that even possible? What are the caveats?

Thanks for any insights. We've tried a few times already and I've seen some oddities (like me joining my only saved MP session and being at the place I was (spacestation) before we joined together)

Died at Space Anomaly (Permadeath) [Discussion]

So I was just done using the egg sequencer and then all of the sudden it was like I got hit with a grenade. Instant death.

I had over hundred hours and was 575k light years away from center. Man I had finally found my Alien weapon yesterday too :(

Joining NMS friends [Question]

So I met some guy a few days ago and did a few missions with them. Added each other as NMS friends.

Last night I loaded the game up and it put me in his lobby and group in the Anomoly. We went to add each other on discord but I get to rush out and now I can't join him but I can see him online.

New to the game, stuck at survival repairing the ship [Question]

So I’m in the middle of nowhere on a planet that’s seriously scarce on oxygen. To make matters worse, my crashed ship is in the middle of an area surrounded by mountains by all sides. My next objective is to gather 30 oxygen for creating a portable refiner, but because of the geography of the planet, my scanner is worthless as it can detect nothing in the mountains, and by the time I make my way up and manage to find like 9 oxygen, my support system depletes and I end up dead. This is a continuous loop and I don’t know what to do anymore…

Most efficient way to min-max using exploit? [Question]

Right now, i keep two 48-slot haulers packed to the gills with C-class ship upgrades.

When i want to try to min-max an S or X class module: Start by installing 1 C-class on my ship Install the module I'm trying to min-max If I don't like the stats, reload save Install 2 C-class on my ship Install the module I'm trying to min-max rinse and repeat

This is both A) incredibly tedious, which i fully expected it to be.

and B) limited to 96 attempts because then i'm out of space.

Is there another way to reset the save-seed after cycling through this process a few times? So i could attempt 1 C-class, then 2, then 3, so on through like maybe 10, but then do something else so the next time I install 1 C-class it is starting from a different save seed?

Low FPS on the game [Question]

hey all, i recently downloaded no mans sky again on my PC using Xbox gamepass after a year of not playing. anyways the download was great and the game started as usual but i noticed that i had very terrible FPS when i enter my save cloud. i remember that the last time i played was on November of 2020 the game ran not good but it wasnt horrible either it was probably around 25 to 30 fps depending on locations which to me was pretty good frames and didn't made me want to stab out my eye holes. has the game had any updates between this span that would cause terrible frames? i remember the first time booting up the game back in 2020 all i had to remove was motion blur and the game ran perfectly. but now that i return i have every setting as low as it can go and it the frames are pure garbage i would say 12 to 15. any of you know what might be up? if you found a fix i would also appreciate it

How are the paths in the Galaxy chart plotted? [Question]

I have an exploration vessel with about 1.5k LY jump range and am trying to get to the galactic center. When I switch the path to “galactic core” the path is in the right direction but really short jumps and never the straightest line possible, even for ships with short jump ranges.

Does anyone know why this is? Does the program prioritize high economy systems or something? If I set the destination as the center of the galaxy why wouldn’t it just plot the straightest line possible?

Transferring items from my Expedition saves to my main save makes me desperate for account-based storage [Suggestion]

TLDR: There should be a box at the Anomaly that you can place your items in from one save and then grab them on another save.

I love the new expeditions that HG has introduced, but I also have a main save with hundreds of hours on it. I love that expeditions provide account-wide unlocks as rewards but there’s a lot of items on those expedition saves that I’d much rather have on my main save. Resources, starship and multi-tool expansion units, upgrades, the list goes on.

I mainly play on PS4 and also have NMS for PC so what I’ve been doing is using my PC save as the intermediary to get items from my PS4 expedition saves (after they convert to normal) to my PS4 main save. The PS4 expedition save and the PC save meet in the Anomaly, I transfer items from the PS4 expedition save to the PC save, switch to my main PS4 save, meet back in the Anomaly, and transfer the items from my PC save to my main PS4 save.

Can’t we just cut out the middleman here? I say we get some sort of account-wide storage at the Anomaly so you can just transfer items among all of your account’s saves (on a gametype-by-gametype basis, as in you could only transfer items from a normal to a normal and not like a normal to a permadeath). There’s also probably a significant number of players who don’t have access to a second account to be able to do this and I feel like they shouldn’t be locked out from doing so and their items are orphaned on their expedition saves.

Permadeath finished but now all tech is broken even the mining laser and I don't have any ferrite dust with me [Discussion]

I played the game in permadeath, and it was fun all around. I got the archives, the thrill to get killed at any moment through pirates or glitches was cool and so, but...

I am in this new galaxy, and EVERY SINGLE TECH is broken in my suit, the ship and the multitool!!! The mining laser is also broken so i cant even gather the materials to repair the most basic thing. Only the suit technology tab is in tact, but this wouldn't save me either.

So the question:

Is this supposed to be this way? Is the player supposed to die when he reached the center of the galaxy? If yes, then OK. meh. I would like to play for another couple of hours in this mode, and do some more things, but if this is supposed to happen, then well...

The stupid thing is, I still have all the materials from before entering the last portal! So if I would know this happened, then I could just take a bunch of materials with me and be fine with the repairs. But now, my save game seems to be fu*** ;(

Settlements have sort of ruined the game for me a bit. Let me explain... [Discussion]

Evening interlopers.

I love building bases and generally just sandboxing around. I also love exploring and constantly looking over the next hill to see what's there. No Man's Sky embodies these things for me, and we all know and love the feeling of having spent way too many hours getting lost in this game.

When settlements were introduced I was completely hooked, and I have spent ages on my settlement as well as customising it (by building a base computer nearby) and caring for my people.

However, I just feel too 'attached' to it. I seem to spend most of my gaming time keeping an eye on the settlement timer and just hanging around systems close to my settlement. I don't really feel like I'm exploring anymore, just doing busy work while constantly returning to my settlement every 20 minutes.

I completely realise that this is my own problem, and that there is nothing preventing me from playing the game like before, but I just feel sort of tied to my settlement now, which has taken away some of the wonder of 'getting lost' in space.

I dunno... maybe it's just me... but I needed to vent my (admittedly very mild) frustration.

Still love the game. Still playing and loving it. :)

PS4 VR DualShock? [Question]

I really stink at move controllers and would rather use my Dual Shock. Is there anyway to change the controls for aiming the little white dot/target sight whatever you want to call it? Xbox One - crashing upon loading? [Bug]

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I’m on the Xbox One. I load a save; upon loading and spawning, it stutters for a few moments before crashing to the dashboard. It might be due to the planet I was on prior to this bug consistently happening - I had built quite a large base on a volcanic planet. I tried to look up solutions, but the only one was an old one suggesting I join a random game, which I can’t due to unable to access space anomaly from main menu 😓

I hope I can solve this - I’d rather not have to delete my save, since I’ve been playing this char for quite a while!

How do I set a waypoint to a previously discovered location on a planet? [Question]

I went to check out a drop pod site, and didn't have the materials to unlock the pod and get the storage slot. So I'm searching around for the materials, and stumble across another drop pod not 500 whatevers from the first drop pod.

I know I've got the stuff to unlock the pods back at my settlement, so I hop in the ship and go home. Then.... then how do I get back? I know the name of the location, and I can see it in the list of discovered locations. How do I set a waypoint to it so I can go back there?

A bit confused about how discoveries work, particularly in Expedition mode. [Question]

I started an expedition for the first time, and found myself on the planet everyone starts on. However, I could still scan everything and it shows my username as the discoverer. Surely, everyone before me has already discovered all the plants/minerals/animals?

What shouldn't I be selling? [Question]

Fairly new to the game and I generally sell most of the one off stuff that I find. Alloys I get from breaking down crystals and what not, because I haven't found a use for them and they take up space. I saw a post that end game is just about finding herox (mostly humor) so I started keeping that. Are there other things I'm probably selling that I shouldn't be?

Also, the starterish quests. Can I do them all or am I making a faction choice? I've been tentative to do some.

Anything else stupid I'm probably doing?

Some things I think would improve the game (based solely on what I like) [Discussion]

Deep space bases you can make, with the appropriate resource gathering modules. Things you could add onto the deep space base: a limited amount of freighter storage bays. Allow you to have multiple freighters, though only one can be active at a time, and the bays would include facilities to upgrade your freighter class. Expanded starship storage bays, you can store one additional starship per bay you build. You could also build a starship disassembler/reasembler. This would break down a starship into its individual modules its made from, and then you can build a new ship using those modules, of course limited to ship types. Ship stats would be decided by the same code that makes the stats for the random generated ships, but modified in a way that makes it so that the best possible player built ship isnt quite as good as a ship found in the wild. All ships would start at C class. Basically the system would be "if you want the best stats, you gotta find it, but if you just want aesthetics, here you go"

Most of this would be very resource intensive, this content would be intended for players who have their storage bins packed. Give players in this position more things to do than just exploring or building bases. (Yes I know this is building a base but its new)

Questions - Base Sharing [Question]

My partner was exploring my base in multiplayer, but when I logged off, it vanished. The base was uploaded, so how come that happened? Is there a way to stop it from happening? He was able to add things to my base while he was there, and I even uploaded the base again after he added stuff (just before I logged out to switch characters), but as soon as I logged off the whole base poofed away. Which was a bummer for both of us, because I wanted to get the base bookmarked on my second character, and I'd like the base to be available for him when I'm not online.

Hi! Euclid troubles. [Bug]

So, my character has been around since the preorder. Same character has seen everything, from bases to freighters to missions to you get it. It was the first iteration.

Well. Now I’m trying to get through the starbirth mission and it turns out I literally cannot because I did not start in the Euclid galaxy and I have no means to actually get there. I’m so mad about this I’m actually about to disavow this game entirely even though I’ve been happy about every update to the game until this. Seriously, so I put in all the time to gather the quicksilver to get the void egg then put in all the time to cultivate all the parts and then had to go around and get the rest of the glyphs so I could do it, and now I find out that I CANT do it regardless. So…. How can I keep going in this game because I feel so upset about this particular mission that it is literally the final straw. I’ve been around the bush with them before and been wronged by them -too many times - at this point. Seriously, I don’t see a future for me with this game with all this bull shit. I am NOT going to start over, this character is literally the original iteration.

Hello everyone, I played NMS for a bit last year (around 100h) and I feel like I've hit a point where I don't know what to do anymore in the game. I've finished the main story line and all so I kinda lack a goal and going to the center of the Galaxy isn't really fun I find (I mean it's a lot of warping to other systems but that's almost all). Maybe I'm missing something and I'm playing the game wrong from the begging, that's why I come to you fellow travelers with 1000 hours and more in the game, how do you keep things interesting? I really love the game I'm just looking for a reason to launch it again

The point of going to a different galaxy? [Question]

I haven't been out of the default galaxy. On my first playthrough some time back, followed the main quest line, things got borked up/glitched, after i got back in, i never followed the quest line again and never got to the end point.

What are the benefits of zorching to another galaxy? Im not entirely sure how to do it.

Do you lose access to any bases in the previous galaxy?

What's the big deal? There are still an endless number of systems where you start.

Is there an official feature vote system for NMS and do the devs do whatever the majority wants?

Playing NMS on Xbox SX and am having fun. Two things that annoy me a lot.

  1. Uploading discoveries. It's beyond me why their isn't at the very least a button to upload everything for a plant.

  2. The minotaur ... lol POS.

I was considering making some suggestions but I know from personal experience that game devs are usually too arrogant to listen to players. And even if there is some vote feature they usually don't do what majority wants just because the most players voted for it. I usually just accept undesirable things and find a way to work with what I have. From reading about Hellow Games, it appears similar, but I thought I ask anyway.

Has anyone ever found a planet like Orion V? [Question]

There was just something magical and special about the first ever shown planet for no man's sky, Orion V and I've been infatuated with the lush flora, the amazing creatures and colour palette of the world. I feel like it's sad that even after all these updates, something like orion v doesn't exist still even though it was what started everyone's love for no man's sky back in 2014 before the release.

Help with mission [Question]

Primary missions- A leap in the dark Objective- Mission target is in another system. In space consult the galaxy map with [downwards button] Platform- PS4 Issue- can’t find the proper system. I’ve been warping 6 times already. When in the galaxy map, I set the destination to “current mission objective”. I have followed the line for a while now but the distance to the specific solar system seems absurd. Am I disabled or that’s intentional?

I want to ask you all...Would you like new things?I mean, for example, neutron stars, I mean neutron stars, red dwarfs, brown dwarfs, etc. Wouldn't that be great?It also occurred to me that they could add telescopes to observe distant planets. Can't find friend online. [Question]

So I just created a new character on Frontier, as well as my friend, we both couldn't join either one's game (I'm playing from PC and he's playing on PS4), so we decided to play through the game until we reached the Anomaly, and yet when we're there we can't find anyone online and we can't find each other either (same issue). We're both online, but to me his name is greyed out (as if offline) and I get the message "No connection to matchmaking services". Can someone please tell us what we could do to start playing online?

Space station NPCs should use the teleporters [Discussion]

There are space stations throughout the galaxies which may never be visited by a Traveler and yet there is a large, glowing ring pulsing with light that sits unused on the platform. The station NPCs simply accept that as part of the furniture? Or maybe as a jazzy sculpture?

But then after eons of time a lone Traveler lands their ship, hops up onto the platform and kzzzkt they disappear along with their ship. Days later the Traveler materializes in front of the mysterious glowing ring, a space ship pops into existence on a landing pad, and there isn't a sudden panic? Really?

Reset Simulation, HUD all messed up and corrupted. Need help [Question]

So I reset the simulation and chose a new Galaxy. I got teleported to the new Galaxy with all my equipment being broken and a corrupted HUD and icons. I managed to run away from the sentinels that were trying to kill me.

Since then I've fixed everything but I still have that corrupted HUD and icons.

How do I fix this? Should I have allowed the sentinels kill me? I'm on PS5 btw if that makes a difference.

About Frontiers and the future of the game [Discussion]

Frontiers turned out to be a shallow update regarding game design. Great concept with a poorly implementation on the game design point of view. Sure, the procedural generation is impressive, with a lot of details on buildings, placement, etc. BUT, there's no point to manage a settlement as the rewards and purpose are laughable.

So, about the future: do you see Hello Games trying to do something about the "Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" statement, or do you expect more gimmicks that don't take us anywhere regarding challenging stuff and systems?

PS: This is not a rant. I'm grateful about the 5 years of free updates. Just wanna know how everyone feels about the future of the game

I'm having trouble expanding the range of my base. [Question]

As you all may be well aware it is (was?) possible to expand the range of your base by going to the edge and building over it. I've used this method to reach a mineral deposit I wanted to mine and built a couple of extractors.

Now, as this is a fairly new playthrough, I only had limited resources back then, and since then I've wanted to expand to gain more minerals faster, but now that I get there, I can't go into regular building mode, only the deployable one.

Everything's as I left it, even the parts to extend my base, and I even built new ones.. nothing works.

This only started being an issue today, has anyone else run into it? Has there been an update I'm not aware of? I've also noticed ionizing cobalt not getting the returns it used to..

Xbox Permadeath ways to regain save [Question]

Good afternoon, just had the misfortune to die in my freighter (Fell trough the floor due to some room-loading bug) and looking at ways to get an older save back. I run 2 consoles (Series S during the week and Series X on the weekends), I did shut of and uninstall NMS with local save file as soon as I died (To slow not to actually die, so the local save got F*d, I thought of 2 options, looking to see if anyone here has another!

Opt 1, reinstall NMS and sync in the hope that the synced data is slightly older.

Opt 2, go back to the save from the Series S, maybe loose around 10-20h and lots of good progress, but better than complete restart.

I was trying to get to the 10th galaxy on my own but it seems the game had other plans. When going from 7 to 8 the warp button wont work on the actual galactic core part for some reason. Expedition Save [Question]

I’ve finished my expedition and really wanted to get the science terminal and all the other ones but there is no mission popping up and no blueprints at the anomaly to just learn them. This update would have 3 items in it. Electronic Thumb: The ET would allow you to hitch a ride on any NPC ship. A normal NPC ship will take you to a random planet, station, freighter or even possibly an abandoned freighter. A NPC freighter can take you to a random star system within a certain radius of your current system. While carrying the ET you can not use teleporters but you can use portals. Also your personal ship will not magically follow you around and you can't summon ships or exocraft. Towel: Towels all have 1 or 2 things they protect you from and have S through C classes. You can only carry 1. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: While carrying this book (don't panic) scanning fauna, flora, minerals, artifacts, etc. will give you significantly more funds.

Starbirth Egg [Question]

Hey guys, I'm having a little issue that I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I just started playing and I was walking through the anomaly and someone gave me an egg that started the mission Starbirth. I was doing it when my game glitched out. I was flying and my ship disappeared and I just started free falling, killing me. Then, my inventory never respawned leaving me with just a Fragile Neural Stem but no egg. I have no clue how or even if I can get another one but would really appreciate any help!

About finishing the main quest [Question]

I've googled and wiki'd it up, but haven't really figured out what's going on.

I resumed my old save from early 2020, where I had the Purge quest to reset the simulation, as well as the "The Atlas Path" quest.

I never really realized I could/should craft Atlas seeds, as the quest only ever said "Find the next Atlas interface", which I did, and which eventually netted me 16 Atlas symbols and resulted in me travelling to Eissentam.

I now have:

  • "The Space Anomaly" quest saying "Explore the new reality", ie. enjoy exploring NMS.

  • The "New Beginnings" quest, saying "A new galaxy awaits", which is pretty much the same as above.

  • The "Atlas Path" quest, which still says "Find the next Atlas interface"

I can craft seeds up to the Noospheric Orb, and that's where my blueprints end.

Is the quest still working as expected, and I'll eventually get the rest of the blueprint seeds if I keep visiting Atlas stations? As I stands, the game is telling me to craft the Heart of the Sun, which I can't do.

Powering Alloy Structure [Question]

So I am complete confused…… I have built an alloy structure with timber windows but when I place health station, hazard protection unit, and ceiling lights they all are saying insufficient power. There isn’t spots for wires on those devices so I’m not sure how to get power to them?! I’ve got a solar farm powering my bio domes attached but that power isn’t transferring.

Starship slot value [Question]

Is there a way to calculate how much each slot is worth when selling crashed ships? Hopefully without trial and error. I'm trying to figure out whether some slots are more financially efficient to repair.
