Do all Tier 3 S class fighters come with the two side engines? [Question]

I play NMS on the PC, and i noticed thag all T3 S class fighters all come with the same two side engines. Is this the case? or can i find S class without these side engines? Because there are some ship designs that i think look cooler without those engines but sadly ther are not S class. Is my only option to use a save editor?

Uploading my main Base [Question]

Hey all,

I finally found a paradise planet worthy of being my home. After editing the terrain I read online that I needed to upload my base in order to stop the edited terrain from respawning. However, I am now worried about people visiting my base/planet. I currently play with multiplayer disabled and all edit options are changed to no one but because my base is uploaded I am not sure whether people can still come to it? Could anyone give me any additional tips on keeping people out of my base/planet?

Can you skip making a settlement policy decision? [Question]

Greetings all! Was just curious if it was possible to skip making a settlement policy decision at all?? For example, my settlements features are essentially perfect, and making either of the 2 choices provided would degrade its features and production. Is it possible to make no choice or skip that event and continue waiting for the next event or do you have to make a choice?

Different Galaxies? [Question]

Sorry if this has been asked before, newish to the game and haven’t been able to find a reliable answer online. I get that when you get to the center of the galaxy you move onto the next, but does anyone know what the actual order of the galaxies are, or can share a source with the info on them?

I’ve been ship hunting for quite a while now, and some of these galaxies I see posted have different named galaxies from Euclid or Hilbert, and I was just curious on how long it would take for me to get to them.

Quest portal stuck in volcano. [Bug]

I have a problem and do not seem to be able to find a good fix for it anywhere so ill try over here. I was playing on my normal save progeressing trough the story when one of the portals i need to interact with spawned halfway into a volcano. I can not restart the quest in a other system and also can not edit the terrain. Is there a tool or something out there that lets me progress the quest or force edit the terrain? or is it game over for this File. Please let me know. Platform is PC

Question about going to next galaxy [Question]

I'm using a method I Iearned to put a base in each of the 50 galaxies, but i needed to know something before I do:

I just established my first base in Hilbert. In order to get to the next do I need to go from Hilbert? Or can I just start from Euclid again and it'll jump to the next galaxy after Hilbert?

Need help with re-playability [Question]

So I've completed the main quests (even though it doesn't dissapear in the log) once you complete the side quests for your bases and recruits etc etc, what is there to do after? Someone said the point of the game is to reach the galactic core.. is this true? And after that have I literally done everything in the game?

[Spoilers] Is there any Hyperdrive travel distance requirement to warp to the center of the galaxy? [Spoiler]

So I'm using a secondary ship this time, and it's currently an exotic with 1.100 LY warp distance. I'm at the closest system to the center of the Budullangr galaxy and I'm able to select the path to the center by holding LMB on PC.

The thing is, I have the core selected but it doesn't let me warp and I was thinking if maybe I need more travel distance.

Unlimited silver [Bug]

So, you can basically delete all the empty rooms on your freighter, get loads of silver, reset your base for free and do it again as many times as you want. Just another freighter issue that should be fixed.

Freighter Upgrades Question [Question]

With regards to the upgrades for Speed & Fuel efficiency, and also the 4 specific upgrades for Trade, Combat, Exploration and Industrial/Mining... My question is... Do they work? And if they are working how can you tell? I see they increase the Fleet coordination figure, but nothing else seems to be affected. For example, when you choose a mission which is 10 hours long, even with the upgrades it still takes ten hours... Or am I missing something?

About those S Capitals. [Question]

I got my ass parked at a space station with a capital battle outside, my dream ship the Dreadnout. Im a new player and was partly lucky to find one on my own and had a save near it, read guides you can farm it for the S class but these guides are pretty old. Do they still spawn in S class in 2021? I got about 480 reloads and the best i could find was a ton of maxed out A classes.

TIL: illegal hazard protection upgrades don't conflict with other hazard protection upgrades [Information]

Look, they stack!

Unlike the C,B,A,S modules, which have to be recharged periodically, illegal hazard protection modules are always active. They work just like the other hazard protection techs (toxin suppressor, radiation deflector, thermic layer and coolant network), but give +1–10% to all four hazard protection categories. The game considers them a different type of upgrade, so you can stack six in your exosuit (three general + three tech) without hitting the "overloaded technology" penalty. After spending a ton of tainted metal and nanites, and re-rolling to max my stats, I've more than doubled my hazard protection time in all four categories!

First Reddit Post / My First 16 Hours in NMS - 300 Million Units [Information]

According to my save I've just clocked 16 hours. First time playing NMS, jumped in around 7 days ago and been playing as I get the chance. Definitely intend to stick around. The first 5 days I probably made 500k units and was pretty happy with that until I saw the prices of ships and things like that. This was just through chasing Deposits of things like Copper. I got attacked by a creature that comes out of the ground at one point and killed it with my mining laser, then saw the price of the meat and realised that could add up really fast. So I moved on to farming all the Fauna I could find, quickly stacking up my first million and attaining trader status. I realised this was all good for a kickstart but was trading time for a roughly set amount of ingame currency so I decided to look online for ways to make units in NMS and found what every beginner is looking for - Chlorine Farming aka printing cash. As soon as I read 1 Chlorine + 2 Oxygen = 6 Chlorine and checked the prices of each I was sold. Being so early in the game still and having spent most of that time exploring and getting my bearings I hadn't yet unlocked a medium or large Refiner blueprint so got to work on getting those. Spent the last bit of my evening last night getting to a Large Refiner (I still haven't unlocked medium Refiner blueprint so fingers crossed for that soon). After work today I started the farming operating with 1 Million units on the books. As soon as I built the first Refiner and refined 100 NaCl into 50 Cl then combined that with my Oxygen I had stored my NMS life changed forever. Fast forward to me writing this at the end of my 16th hour, I've made around 300 million units profit give or take, sitting on 230 million in cash and have invested in a A Class Fighter till I find a nice S Class one and a B(?) Class Hauler I liked the look of that had about 40 slots. The...

Settlement Questions [Question]

Was curious about construction opportunities, if you decline one do other different opportunities cycle through until you accept or is the same one repeatedly submitted until accepted?

I keep declining the same one to build a generator room hoping for something that will increase happiness but I don't get anything other than that one.

Also, I play on PC but there is a joystick symbol at the end of my settlement's name. It looks the same as what I see on Xbox and PS players' names. Does anyone know what it's for?

Gas Giants when???? [Discussion]

I’ve got 5 “something something” from you and said thanks with the interaction, you gave me another 5 of “something else”. I didn’t thought much of it at the time but when I went to the galaxy terminal, one bunch of that stuff was selling for 80mill and the other for 320mill which made me mega rich! The servers need to remember what expeditions you have completed, or warn you before you delete your expedition savefiles [Suggestion]

I just completed Expedition 3 and then went to the Quicksilver vendor to collect some of my rewards from Expedition 1, which I also completed back when that was live. Came to discover it doesn't recognise that I completed them. Googled around and everyone is saying that they should transfer over to all your save files once completed, so I was puzzled as to why it wouldn't let me redeem them, until I realised it was probably because I deleted Expedition 1's savefile.

What gives? I assumed that the servers would save info on which ones you had completed. I didn't get a big red warning when I went to clear my old saves, saying, "IF YOU DELETE THIS SAVE FILE YOUR EXPEDITION RECOGNITION IS LOST TO THE VOID!"

I'm really upset because I will never get the chance to get those rewards again and all it took to lose them was holding middle click a couple of times.

Apollo and Artemis quest [Question]

Apologies for any misspellings, on mobile.

So I am at a part of the quest that requires learning glyphs from an ancient ruin. Went to the ruin but there is a slight problem.

The ruin is 90% buried in the side of a volcano. I tried to dig it out but the manipulator doesn’t work. I can’t physically get to the part of the ruin to get the glyphs. Not sure what to do from here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Alternate source for Hexite? [Question]

Apparently, I goofed. I triggered the encounter that marked the Hexite location while I was in multiplayer, and unknown distance from my normal systems, and did not collect it immediately.

I have made about a dozen jumps, about 200-600 LY each(got an upgrade to my hyperdrive from one of them) and no end in sight. Is there an actual alternate way to collect the Hexite, or am I in for a lot of boring jumping before I can continue my living ship quest?

The Best Glitch You Don’t Know [Information]

This glitch works as of me posting this. In No Man’s Sky you can exchange for ships which will decrease the price of the new ship by however much your old ship is worth, but (this only works in space stations) you can go back to the ship you just lost in the process of exchanging and get it back for free, now you have both ships, scrap one and keep the more expensive so that exchanges are cheaper. In 3 hours of gameplay got me 250,000,000 units. Note this only works in space stations, do this on a freighter or at a trade outpost and your old ship will leave instantly. Warning: doing this long enough causes a glitch where you can’t scrap any ships, you must choose your favorite ship of the ones you have, make it your primary ship and restart the game, the value of that ship will be reduced to 1,000,000 units and all your other ships will be lost. Warning: use it while you can!!

Question about Community Expedition rewards [Question]

Hello

I just recently started playing NMS after a very long break (think the last time I played was around patch 2.x). I started playing the community expedition, which I find pretty good (despite a few issues, like the one with Minotaur bay etc).

I have a question regarding the final reward. Once you complete the Community Expedition and get your final reward, what happens to that save - does it become a normal save ? Or can you transfer that reward to another save ? How does that work ?

Names resetting [Question]

Since the frontiers update I have noticed that a lot of the systems and planets that I named have reverted back to the original names but show as already uploaded so cannot be named again. I also find that stupid also keep reverting back to the original as well. Anyone else having these issues?

Best way to reach Galactic Core? [Question]

So I was wanting to reach the core in order to travel to another Galaxy. Using blackholes seems to teleport me further away on the other side of the core (around 600,000 to 1 million LY away) and I was wondering if there's a trick to using black holes or if I have to genuinely travel 436,000 light years to reach the core? Saw A Dude In The Anomaly Killing People With Mind Rockets [Bug]

I just loaded into the game and I was walking towards the nexus when I saw a huge explosion. It looked like someone was firing a rocket launcher from their ship but there was no ship just people running around. Two people died to the blasts and it said "(Death By Ship Combat)". Meanwhile there's one Traveller just walking around like it's an average day. The explosions were happening every few seconds. They began getting closer to me... and closer.... I reloaded my game. What a way to go out, right? Just trying to start a nexus mission and you get precision airstriked.

Didn't see a cheating flair. Bug will do.

Where are my blueprints? [Question]

I made it to the Anomaly. I bought some blueprints for a storage container and a translator. But I can’t build them? I don’t see them anywhere nor can I see where to build them. Where did they go?

Also, what’s the deal with the mining beam. I have a mining beam. Then I have a returned mining beam capacitor and an advanced mining laser. Do I need to have all 3? They take up space. Same with my exosuit. I have a ammonium air purifier in my general area, then in my technology area I have life support and oxygen recycler. This is 3 storage slots being used. Plus, what is the technology vs general vs cargo all about anyways? It’s all just storage.

Back after some time away to give Frontiers a spin. OMG why? [Suggestion]

So I came back after a 5'ish month long pause from the game greatly interested in Frontiers and settlements, started over from scratch for a full game experience.

After some 20 hours of going through all the tutorials again and building up some cash and materials I decided to hunt for a great planet to found a full base and settlement on and located a gem of a planet. Great weather, stable, no hostile presence with blue skies, green grass and a nice chuck of water for some underwater adventures.

I plop my base down on the coast and get the amenities up and running and skip the settlement quest which I heard places it on a random planet in the system and instead buy the item to use on the planet of my choice...

So im standing on my base, use the item and low and behold...settlements are RANDOMLY placed!

8 hours from my base, right smack dab in the middle of the largest land-mass on the planet, far from my base and any water. What. The. Fuck.

This decision crushed my soul and sucked any desire to take part in settlement building. Why? why make them randomly placed...why! argh...please make settlements placeable.

Going to the Galactic Core questions. [Question]

So, I finally got through the portal questline, and the last step is going to the core. I was reading a little bit about it earlier today, but I still have some questions.

It sounds like going to a new galaxy essentially "restarts" the game. Do you lose your inventory in the process?

I was a little confused about the ability to travel between galaxies. Can you not use space station/base portals to quickly go back? Are portals the only other way?

I still have quite a few secondary quests related to my base. If I go to a new galaxy would I lose the progress and need to start over? Or have to find a way to travel back?

It sounded from the article like the journey to the center was quite lengthy. From the last point of the portal quest, it looked like ten jumps before the end of the line, but it didn't say anything about the core. Just a random looking system. Is there a limit on how far your galaxy map will chart forward?

The article also suggested using black holes to cover distances more quickly. I don't really understand since you can't predict where the black hole will let out. It seems just as likely you'd end up further away than closer to the galactic core. How is that supposed to make it easier or faster to get there?

Really not enjoying this game right now!!! [Bug]

I'm putting it down to bugs, but I feel like they can't be bugs if some issues have been persistent since launch. I used to really enjoy this game, but every now and then, I started to get distorted audio which just gets worse and worse until somehow stopping, but this is usually after getting unbelievably worked up by it. So now I'm trying to figure out how I've fixed it in the past, but am not convinced I will. This new update came about too! Started playing a new character and found a planet that I thought would be cool to create an old western style inn. It'd be the only building on the base just while I find somewhere else to make a permanent base. Why do that to the timber walls? They looking fucking stupid! You would never expect to see any building with half the slats missing! I could understand in a sense like Fallout 4 where the wall is in slight ruin, but it still looks like effort was made on these walls, it's not fitting in with anything and if people for whatever reason do want it, then let them choose to have it! Don't make the rest of us pay for wanting something that isn't completely out of place.

Also, when will they fix the fucking snapping???? As a work around, I'm using the smaller floors so having the 1st floor slightly smaller than the ground floor and it seems almost impossible to snap them in place. They do snap, but it takes a ridiculous amount of stress to sort it!

That's my rant done! I'm sure others feel similarly?

fwiw, I'm playing on PC, not sure if the sound issues are common on console, but seems to not matter so much on the PC. I tried using both my sound card and whatever the basic drivers are and they both came out horrible.

What year do the events of No Man’s Sky take place in? [Question]

Is there a date or time of events that the game takes place in? Is there a written year in the lore somewhere? I was curious because the space travel and futuristic nature of the game captivated me and I was wondering if this game had a specific year tied to it or if it was just set in the “future?”

How to get to other galaxies? [Question]

So I've dome all the story and what not, I remember I went to a big room with all these red orbs and I got to choose which galaxy I wanted to go to next, but that was so long ago, I'm wondering how I can quickly and easily get to other galaxies without going to the core, any way of just using the teleporter to warp there or something? Any help would be great!

Invisible save point [Question]

I have kind of an embarrassing problem. I was in the habit of using a save point inside my overseer's office. Well, now that they put a teleporter in the office, I can't find my save point and it won't allow me to build another (says limit 1 to area). I've searched high and low and can't find it. Is there a particular view that can show me how to find/delete the hidden save point?

Can you permanently modify terrain in your base? [Question]

So I built my main base on flattened terrain before learning that terrain modifications weren't exactly permanent and for the longest time I used to come back to my base and occasionally see that the ground had sort of "grown back" into my living room, requiring me to re-flatten the terrain under the house in a quite frustrating process.

However, when returning recently after roughly 8 months of absence, I was quite surprised to see that it had not happened this time, and nor has it happened since. I am starting to wonder if they finally fixed that feature and if terrain modifications are now permanent, but I can't find anything related to that in recent changelogs, so I thought I'd ask here.

It would be cool to be finally able to make a batcave for my starship...

Grave recovery [Question]

Settlement objectives stuck! [Bug]

I found a settlement and started construction on the first building. I was in the second stage when I got a random objective popping up to spend Aronium n a docking base despite not having reached that point yet.

It resulted in me not being able to pin other objectives so I looked for a new settlement hoping to reset the mission progress and hopefully have the permanent objective banner disappear.

Now, the objective banner is still stuck on the settlement quest, however, it keeps saying there is a building in progress (most likely the building in it's second stage from the first settlement). I can build the overseer's office in this new settlement, however after this I can queue no new buildings. I did manage to find the old settlement, however, it seems to have completely reset the actual settlement and the building objective is still stuck there. The building I started, however, and the overseer's office originally built has disappeared.

What's worse is I cannot seem to complete any other objectives and make any progression in the story as the objective markers do not appear so I have no idea where to go.

What is even more hilarious, the aforementioned Aronium objective is an objective marked on a building console in my NMS friend's settlement. needless to say, I am unable to commence this construction since I am not overseer.

Any assistance is appreciated...

Big-Q-7 [Discussion]

Absolute savage. Ran a nexus mission together and stopped by the local space station after. There I found my dream S tier fighter and bought it. Big Q gave me S tier cyclotron and photon cannon upgrades, plus some salvaged data and warp hypercores. Helped me get started building up my new ship and unlock some new buildings. Do expeditions detract you from playing your normal game file? I’ve yet to complete the main quests, find that perfect ship and home, journey to a new galaxy. Do i gain anything from taking a break from normal gameplay or should I just concentrate on my normal save?

How can I redeem my pre-order bonuses like the Horizon Omega? [Question]

I pre-ordered the game way back when and played for around 30 hours, had the pre-order content and everything. I recently got back into playing and would like to get the cool ship again. Stuck in a really stupid problem in Expeditions. Which Jet Pack mods to install? [Question]

OK, I know this should be a simple thing, but it's kicking my ass, and it's the only thing keeping me from advancing to the Expeditions final phase.

I'm just trying to complete the "Rocketman" achievement but I can't get myself airborne long enough. I think this is more of a technology issue, i.e. which jet pack mods to have installed, than a location problem. I've looked at several videos and the players all seem to be able to stay airborne longer simply due to the right combo of mods installed, but I don't know what those are. Right now, I can get about 15 seconds of thrust. Shame you can't harvest the Jet pack boosters for later use. There's never one around when you need it.

And of course, you can only have so many mods installed before they're overloaded and you lose functionality. I've also tried the highest spots I can find on the map to get airborne from, but it's still not enough.

So I'm looking for some help on how to extend my time in the air.

Atmospheric gas gatherers [Bug]

Is there any plan to fix the bug with atmospheric gas gatherers? I add some CC fuel and I come back and it’s empty. If I stay on planet it will fill and I get the gas. Apparently this has been a glitch for 4 years and is kinda killing the game for me.

Finally gonna give the game a proper go! [Discussion]

I’ve technically played it since 2017/18 but I’ve never properly played it and have never kept on going for too long, but since they’ve added the new city building aspect I’m actually really excited to finally give it a go!

Am i having bad luck or did freighters change? [Question]

I am hunting for a capital freighter of s class and i know you can spawn them via battles or at least in theory can do that.

The problem i am having is i have had 3 battles happen all where normal freighters not the capital ones. Reloading kept them regular instead of capital.

What’s the point of a hauler? [Question]

I have a fighter that I have fully upgraded, S-Class, 48+21 slots. I got a hauler, and I was planning on upgrading it, but it looks like it will also max out at 48 inventory slots. Is that correct? 48 is the maximum inventory for both? If so, what is even the point of a hauler if a fighter has just as much space?

Mineral Extractor Animation Change [Suggestion]

Issue

The current mineral extractor animation has been annoying because the item model uses a tri-cone drilling bit that's not meant to be slammed into the earth repetitively. A considerable benefit of a tri-cone bit is that the cones roll and cut efficiently by only rotating the drill shaft.

Suggestion

The animation that the miner in Satisfactory uses is a much better example of how that bit would be used. A good change would be for the mineral extractor to just push the bit down once and then continuously "dig" while it is powered.

Functionally, what's the difference between fighters and explorers? Homogenization of ships in the end game [Discussion]

I'm at the point where I'm nearing a maxed out 48 slot fighter. With this much technology and cargo inventory, I can slot plenty of hyper drives, or phase beam modules or shield modules as I want.

I can hunt for a 38 slot S class explorer, but the only advantage to that would be a slightly more base hyperdrive?

Early game, ships seem pretty distinct because of inventory limitations. Shuttles and Haulers kick ass at the start, but become close to pointless towards the end of the game. I like my space ship games to have varied styles of ships with distinct characteristics, jobs or roles. It sort of felt that way at the start of the game. Exotics were above average everywhere, shuttles and haulers gave you larger cargo to play with while exploring and farming, fighters do massive damage and explorers gave you hyperdrive reach to scope out those lovely tier 3 economies at the edge of your range.

Now it feels completely different. Everything seems homogenized. A 48 slot fighter that can out speed, fight and maneuver a hauler, while enjoying an equal inventory capacity. And while we're at it, let's slot a bunch of hyper drives in there and have nearly as much hyperdrive range and efficiency as a maxed explorer.

Absolutely love the game, got a 100ish hours and still going, just a small piece of me that wish ships were functionally diverse. Visual, I've seen plenty of ships that look different, so no quarrel there.

noob galaxy warping question [Question]

I've never left the first galaxy. I'm getting different information about going to different galaxies.

I thought if you went to the center of the galaxy or finish the main quest line, you just start over again in a different galaxy and do everything again.

But now I'm seeing mentions of being able to move between galaxies at will, and keeping your stuff.

I would like to finish the main quest line and not restart the simulation, but then somehow go to a different galaxy without having to restart. If so, I'd like to go to a specific galaxy, or at least a specific type of galaxy. Possibly being able to go back and forth between galaxies.

Is this possible? How?

Lost my ship [Question]

I was doing a mission for the scientist, got out the ship and started walking to the location. Before I knew it I was quite far from my ship, I’m guessing I was 13 minutes away on foot.

My intentions were to summon my pet but I ended up summoning a complete different ship that I didn’t know I even had! When it landed, I hopped in it and it was completely damaged. Everything needed repairing and the planet I was on doesn’t have the resources I need.

I couldn’t summon my other ship as the launch thruster was on zero…

How do I get my other ship back? I can TP to a space station as I was on the planet with my base thankfully…

Feature Idea: Planetary Danger Zones [Discussion]

hi guys,

What if Extreme planets had procedural zones varying in size that were un-explorable without certain exocraft like the Minotaur?

Since right now, if we're decently upgraded, we can explore on foot anywhere, I think this would give us more reason to have a need for the Minotaur and other exocraft.

In these zones, we would never become strong enough to resist it without exocraft. These more dangerous places have more strange, unique curiosities and more resources.

This feature could open up new possibilities for single and multiplayer missions and narratives. It could allow us to fight colossal fauna or track down some dangerous pirates in their on exocraft.

Maybe the same in space. You'd need to get certain rare upgrades to enter contaminated zones that eat away the metal of your ship.

All in all, certain features like exocraft feel more like toys right now and need more purpose.

Overseer's office inside indestructible terrain? [Bug]

Just got to my first settlement and am set to build the overseer's office, yay!

Problem is, the construction site has spawned inside an indestructible bit of scenery (huge rock tentacle things) and I therefore can't access it.

Anyone else encounter this or know of a work around?

Using a backup [Question]

So I deleted my main game save while testing my PS Vita for remote play… I have a save editor to load saves and I can load a backup of my deleted game but it won’t save it as normal. Anyone have any ideas on the matter.

The backup isn’t a copy of the original save, it’s saved as a backup so just placing that file in with my saves won’t do it. Just want to get that out of the way in case someone points it out.

Not sure if bug with Autonomous Mining Units and others [Bug]

New player here (well, played a bit years ago, but let's say new).

I've noticed that about half of the times (not just some time) I put fuel (carbon) in an Autonomous Mining Unit or Oxygen/Atmospheric Harvester, when I go back to collect, there is no resource and the fuel is obviously spent because time has passed.

Is this intended behavior, like "sometimes you harvest 100, sometimes you harvest 35, sometimes you harvest 0" (although it seems to be always either hundreds or 0), or is this a bug?

Transferring a ship! [Question]

Hi folks! So I have an amazing ship from an old save - I got sidetracked during the base building content a few years back, and have jumped back into the game. Super excited but am so, so lost with where I was up to in my old save and was hoping there was maybe a way to grab my old ship and pull it into a fresh save - is that in any way doable? 16/16 Gateway Detected: Portal Stuck Underground [Bug]

I finally made it to the point where I'm supposed to activate my portal, only problem is that the portal itself is stuck too far under ground to activate. I even tried making my character as short as I could through the in-game character customization in attempts to even get a prompt to access the portal.

I'm on PC, I have a save editor if needed, I'm just confused on how I should proceed. Can I force restart this mission? Any help would be great!

Size of the base area [Question]

Hello, im still pretty new to the game and i decided to build a mineral farm to get some passive income. For the last two hours, i was looking for some hotspots but i only found C hotspots which are not satisfying. Right now after 2 hours i found a S tier hotspot but the problem is there is no energy hotspot. After scouting the area hoping to find anything, i failed and move on. Ten minutes later i found a C energy hotspot and was hoping to get a mineral hotspot but there were none nearby. I moved tired and decided i should give it one more chance and found another S mineral hotspot but again no power. While scouting the area nearby, i found an S tier power hotspot which is around 900u away from the S tier mineral one. Is there any chance these bases can get conected or should i continue my search tommorow. Thanks!

SQUID SHIPS [Question]

With about 1000 hours in the game ive never come across a Squid. I have been playing in survival mode lately and im trying to hunt one down.

From my research it seems like they are more likely to show up in T2 and T3 Vykeen systems...

Does anyone know something I dont that could help me be more likely to come across one? Sure...i could just put in some glyphs and go get one but...thats just not the same as finding my own :]

I am currently in Eissentam Galaxy. I try space stations, two / three trading posts on each planet...no luck...

Has anyone done any research about what type of planet and system they are more likely to spawn in??

Starship Class Differences - Future Update Idea [Suggestion]

This post is inspired by an earlier one today (https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/pu3jjx/functionally_whats_the_difference_between/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and many others that I've seen on this board, and I want to amplify it further in the "suggestions" format.

Basically, while the various starship classes look cosmetically different, there's very little to differentiate them functionally once they've been fully upgraded. For example, if an S-class fighter can have 48 + 21 storage slots and scads of hyperdrive range while still dealing massive damage, why should we bother with haulers, explorers, etc? I know each class has its unique stat bonuses, but those seem to be pretty marginal in terms of actual gameplay experience, so it generally just comes down to aesthetics.

Personally, I like to vary my build-outs to create those differences in my fleet myself. I've got a royal exotic with maxed hyperdrive that I use as an explorer, a couple of fighters with different weapon loadouts (light interceptor and fighter-bomber), a fan-wing hauler that I think of as an assault transport/gunship, and a small-body shuttle that's my frigate fleet tender/general runabout. I do this RP approach because it's fun for me, but again it doesn't make much difference to gameplay.

I'd love to see an overhaul to starship classes, space missions, and combat that would incentivize this kind of specialization. Give me a reason to max out an Explorer or Hauler to do something that no other ship can do. Let me seek out dogfights via space station or Nexus missions that actually feel difficult and dangerous. Let me strafe a fortified ground installation, then have to deal with waves of scrambled...

Concerning nanites and money mid and late game [Meta]

Problem: So I had trouble finding a consistent and efficient way of obtaining money mid game, and felt that going to gravitino planets, getting a full inventory, then selling was the best way. It took maybe 15-20 minutes to get 12 million units. I looked into farming plants for money and other techniques, but they all either tied you down or required resource farming.

Solution:

Required and Recommended items:

Required - Economy Scanner, many warp cores or warp hypercores

Recommended - Ship with many inventory slots, many hyperdrive upgrades

Steps

Find a 3 star economy.

Buy all trade items. (They say "Produced Locally" at the trade terminal.)

Check missions, and pick up any that aren't tied to a location. (For example, kill sentinels and cull creatures)

If there is an S tier or A tier ship that's landed, buy it and scrap it. You will likely get all you paid for back after selling the items given to you by scrapping, but it's worth that risk as you also have a chance to receive starship expansion modules, which cost tens of millions of units if you want to upgrade your starships inventory without them.

Optional - if your inventory allows it, repeat steps 1-4 to really fill out your inventory. Since your inventory will almost be full, you might want to do step 4 first or skip it entirely.

Read what economy wants the trade items you purchased. On the galactic map, look for an economy that fits that description, and preferably find one with the highest buy percentage.

Travel there and sell items.

Step 3.

Repeat 1-8 until satisfied.

Kill creatures + sentinels and hand in all of your missions at once.

Upload all discovered solar systems.

Why do this?

So, on top of the money you receive from trading, you will get thousands of nanites, enough starship upgrade modules, increase your reputation across the board,...

Dreams Of The Deep not bugged, but almost impossible? [Question]

I think I got the absolute worst planet for this mission. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of water, and very little land. The closest land I could find to the initial drop was 6 minutes away by Nomad, but after looking for closer land than that for an hour I finally bit the bullet.

Did all the stuff, then used the scanner…and the first wreck is 12 hours by Nomad. So I climbed aboard my ship and headed over…and no land. Anywhere near. Nothing. Not a scrap. I finally used one of my navigation marker thingies and found a ruin on land, and worked backwards to the edge of the continent. I’m 31 minutes away by Nomad.

Is this the way it’s supposed to be, or did I get screwed? I really don’t want to have to sit in a Nomad for half an hour to get there, but it doesn’t seem like I have a choice. 🤷‍�️

Cant enter capital ship bridge [Question]

Alrighty yall, I got a problem. With my capital ship. Turns out, I accidently built over the entrance from the hanger to the bridge with a command room and now cannot not enter the bridge, nor the build area to change it. I had used the teleporter i built in the bridge before to leave, not knowing of the mistake I had built. Its far too late for a save reload, so what do you all suggest? Would buying one be the best solution?

How to mark locations on planet permanently? [Question]

As per title... say I find a crashed pod but have my inventory full, so I want to mark it to return later, or I find a convenient outpost relatively near my base and I want to mark its location permanently, how can I do it?

I had played No Man's Sky a few years ago for a while, and just returned to it a couple weeks ago; at the time, I remember there was a portable/deployable item you could place at the location and it would beacon the point permanently, with the icon visible from anywhere in the same star system, but now I can't find it anymore. I thought it was either the Save Beacon or Signal Booster, but for what I've seen, their icons disappear as soon as you fly a couple of kilometers away... is there something else?

One thing that really kept me exploring in No Man’s Sky was the empty canvas they would give you for each planet to create your own backstories and your own theories on what could’ve happened.

I would love to hear what RP’s or what stories you’ve come up with yourself about your favorite planets and locations.

I’ve been wanting to get back into No Man’s Sky and I thought it would be incredibly fun to use other players stories when I’m exploring these planets. Just imagine how crazy fun it could be if I landed on a random planet where it has uncanny similarities to the stories a player has said, legitimately making me feel like an explorer who heard tales of this before and whether I should be excited to explore or making me feel terrified to explore further.

This whole idea made me think of how much more fun I could have playing NMS. So if you guys have any crazy or fun stories/theories/backstories please share them with me as id love to have more of the lore and RP in my head.

Settlement whining/complaining [Discussion]

I need to vent about this update.... settlements = awesome idea. Trying to load one on a plant thats not trying to constantly f*** you in the a** = next to impossible. About 20 different systems with blissful, tempered, paradise and bountiful and all it wants to do is load on the complete sh** plant in the system everytime. Each one of the plants I have tried I have reloaded a manual save at minimum 10 times. Idk wtf the problem is. Sorry nms I don't want to have my settlement on the arm pit plant of the system.... anyone else have this problem?

How can I extend my NMS experience? [Discussion]

I've read through some related threads and I'm still not getting it. I like the game, but I feel I'm at a dead end. I did the Artemis / null / etc questline, I've built a bunch of bases, explored, mined, crafted. I've got about 80 hours in all told. And now, with nothing but the "go to the center of the galaxy" objective, I feel like I spent a lot of time grinding for...what?

​ There are practically infinite planets to explore, but I feel like I've seen them all before. I've yet to find some amazing corner of a planet that felt like a discovery beyond the initial landing. I've spent hours swimming around oceans and flying around a planet hoping to find some kind of unique "thing" or landscape feature, but it's all the same look and same biome once you hit planet side. The missions lack any kind of character or challenge. The only thing between me and completing a mission is time and brainless clicking on stuff. Derelict freighters were entertaining once, then they too just become 'click click click'. The random deep space encounters seem absolutely pointless. Combat is dull: I can beat "elite" encounters with my starter ship in Survival mode and clear sentinel wave 5 with basic class C multi-tool. Then there is the biggest problem of all. There is no compelling reason to do anything and nothing I do seems to have any kind of impact on the imaginary universe. There aren't any interesting stories or NPC interactions. Every action is ultimately about getting more "stuff" which, after you have a few hundred million credits and a couple of exotic ships, seems kind of pointless. Even the main quest line ends up being little more than cryptic references to uninspired (even cliché) philosophy and about the meaning of life, creation and the multi-verse).

I'm not grousing, just disappointed and hoping that someone can point out what I'm missing. I guess in my mind, this game has...

Id heard it had gotten better, and that it was properly a good game now. Today I had that itch to play a mew survival game, and while scrolling around, I saw No Man's Sky. I spent a good 30 minutes considering it, and decided, yknow what? Lets give it a chance.

Was checking out another player's AI farm the other day. It was a vertical farm with a ring of supply depots all built around a tower of single extractors, when I checked the depots, each one had 30k AI in them. I tested this as I emptied about 5 and each one still had 30k in it. Now on my newly built AI farm my depots only have like 1250 storage each depot. How do you become able to store 30k in each one?

More ship storage/capacity [Suggestion]

Have you ever encountered a ship that you really like but don’t want to sacrifice any of your other ships? I feel as if the 6 ships per save limit is arbitrarily chosen and much too low. I propose to increase the active ship slots to 9, so you can take full advantage of the flight deck in your freighter. Furthermore I propose a kind of long-term ship storage only available to players that own a freighter. This would work as follows: when on the flight deck you can see the same hangar doors that you came in through at the back of the flight deck, these would open up tomorrow of hangar where a total of 36 ships can be stored, 12 for each door. These ships can’t have any items in the inventory, only technology. They would not be summonable unless you go to your freighter and switch some of your active ships around with the stored ones.

Tl;dr more ships storage in your freighter.

Ship can be cloned after new update [Bug]

Did anyone found this glitch? On a planet I found this crashed ship, I enter on it so it's now in my ship list, I don't have time to repair for now so I create a base near it to remember the position. Now since I don't want to repair for now I do other things on the planet, I am on the other side of the planet and I try to recall the crashed ship, system say "impossible to recall ship". Turn off game, the day after just for case I try again and the ship come to me... The ship is still crashed... Ok, I repair engine and launch system and go to station to destroy it to have more units. After the ship is gone I come back to my base near the crash site, and surprise, the ship is still here burning in flame ready to be repaired.

Good Ideas That Almost had Good Gameplay [Discussion]

The Frontiers update really does highlight an ongoing trend with NMS. An introduction of a gameplay loop or system that is really cool in concept and has all the pieces to be incredible, but doesn't put any of them together properly.

Frontiers has all the features you would need for a really compelling aspect of the game, but seemingly utilizes none of them. There's little to no aspect of having to make decisions that don't upset the population by a meaningful amount so you effectively can do nothing wrong. Choices which increase your upkeep costs either don't do so by any meaningful amount, or increase stats which counter the negative effect. Downside features of the colony are eliminated quickly, so you have even less adversity to face. Sometimes one of the choices you need to make isn't even a choice, unless you actually want to take the "option" which makes you do nothing instead of the option that makes you do something.

I'm not asking for Frostpunk, but there could be a nice in-between. Sometimes your choices have the same upside with different values, meaning you have no reason to choose the worse one, though I'm not sure if this is better or worse than when your decision is pure guessing as to which option would be more useful, as is the case with the disputes.

But of course, the greater instance of a missed opportunity is the derelicts in which the variety is too limited, the difficulty is too low, and the loot value seems to vary drastically. Plus the "riskier" ships often have less loot, making them kind of pointless. The various logs and data found in the derelicts would be interesting if it had any kind of meaning. If there were some mystery to unravel, or some incentive to locate certain details, that would add some actual value. Plus the atmosphere in the derelicts is pretty chilling (referring to the metaphorical atmosphere), which makes it kind...

Questions regarding the game. [Question]

Should I start over? I've had the game since pre-order. Been playing only 75 hours due to lack of time. I have a save with 22 hours on, so it's not the first time I'm starting over. I've achieved quite a lot on it, but I took the first free freighter available, as well as the settlement. I want a capital freighter, hence the restart. Besides, I feel with my current knowledge I would be able to advance faster and better from start.

Do settlement buildings actually do something? I.e the starship dock. Does it allow me to park my ship and not use launch fuel? Is there a trade terminal? Do other ships stop by? What about other buildings in my settlement. Can I change the laws? I.e the no pets rule. Can I cure sickness? I.e the worms or whatever it is.

A question regarding armorer mission [Discussion]

Hey guys, new to the game here

I might have made a boo boo. So the armorer tells me to destroy a sentinel base (4 orb like buildings). I was like HAH did a driveby in my ship and destroyed them all,,,, but the mission did not trigger me destroying the base.

So... Do I just need to reload or restart since I am on Survival and the autosave feature probably has me screwed :)

So I’m doing a quest for apollo and I’ve been told to to look for these 3 layline on a planet. The bug that is happening to me is that one of the markers for the quest goes to one of those old ruins underwater. But when I get there the marker stays on the ruins and when I look around everywhere there’s nothing to interact with. I hope this makes sense but how do I fix this bug?

Took a long break - where to start? [Question]

Hello, I played NMS back in 2017 / 2018 for maybe 40-50 hours or so and I thought I would come back to it, but I have found myself to be quite lost and unsure about what to do!

I previously had a base full of stuff, but it seems that materials were consolidated somehow so I used to have several full storage boxes on my base, and its all down to a few. I expect it was turned into something else.

Yesterday I saved a frigate and the captain gave it to me and it seems I can built my base there? My old base from 2017 is gone, so can I just pack it all up and transfer all the resources to the frigates? (and how do I do that?)

I had a few vehicles too - can I also pack them up and take them elsewhere?

I also got a distress call for a settlement that I saved but I would like to find a different colony how do I go about finding one?

I wouldn't mind having a bit of a fresh start, so it seems to make sense to put everything in the frigate and travel somewhere new.

Its very overwhelming coming back to the game after so long as there are so many changes, but its looking great so far.

Earth like planets [Information]

I did some research on how to find earth like planets. So for everyone who doesn’t know yet and wants to find one: When you open the Galaxy Map, look for yellow stars with the code F5 or G5. (After the 5 some other symbols can be present) In yellow star systems there is more chance for planets that are paradise/lush/verdant/etc 5 is about the general temperature I believe so 4 and 6 could also do it. F and G just say that it is indeed a yellow star. Good luck!

Unable to progress in Agricultural Research Mission [Bug]

For a few days now I have been stuck on the step for the Farmer specialist mission where you must grow and harvest Echinocactus. I have created a charged hydroponics tray and placed a cactus in there, but it does not progress, it still says to plant the cactus in a hydroponics tray.

I have tried deleting and replacing the farmer terminal and hydroponic trays multiple times in different locations but it is still not fixed.

Just seeing if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution?

Fleet repair vessels? [Suggestion]

I'm pretty new to the game (60 hours) and I have noticed that with freighter fleets, your frigates need some attention and maintenance. Even if they haven't been damaged during an expedition.

So my idea being in a future update, should a repair/maintenance vessel that can maintain your frigates from a control panel, be added to the game?

This way it's automated and takes the hassle of having to crawl all over your raggedy frigates whenever they break down. Which after a while, can feel like a chore.

Purchasable ofcourse, so it's an optional.

Settlement is STILL bugged on construction [Bug]

Since frontiers launched I've had many problems with my settlement. Patches rolled out and 99% of the problems were fixed when logging in. Except for this one... It has been days and days of this deliver pure ferrite to a non existing terminal... I really hope another patch comes out. Seeing everyone else enjoying frontiers so much and I'm stuck waiting is just deflating. I could abandon and start again I know but I want to hold out and hopefully a patch fixes it when I log in like all the previous problems. Please Hello Games put your campfire game on pause and polish off your update!

I have a really simple yes or no question.

Can settlements be found on moons? I found a perfect lush moon with AI hotspots and plan to build a base there. It would be great if i could start my first settlement there too. Im not home at the moment so i cant check.

Side question: Can settlements be found in the wild or do they "spawn" when activating a chart?

Help with a couple activities in Expeditions 3 [Question]

I'm almost finishing the expedition, there's only 2 "milestones" (i have no idea what it's called in english, sorry) left to complete, one in phase 3 and the other on phase 4, but i'm having trouble to complete them. One is that where you have to mine 1000 minerals and the other is to "fly" for 30 seconds (hope those are the right descriptions).

The minerals one my problem is that I've not been able to provide enough energy to keep the machine working. I've tried solar panels + batteries, but the batteries keep running out of power. Also tried that eletromagnetic generator (again, not first language here, hope i'm getting the names kinda right) but it's too far from the spot i'm mining, so i don't have energy in the machine.

The flying one i have been to the tallest place i could possibly find, but still i can only be flying for 20-23 seconds.

Would love any tips on how to do it and finish the expedition!!

I am looking for another Jiida Adventurer VIII explorer. Mine landed at my settlement on a Paradise Planet in Euclid, and a friend wants one. I only see the Jiida Trailblazer listed online, but it has different side panels. Has anyone seen a ship like mine in a station or trade outpost?

So I recently stumbled across a video showing off an early concept for the settlements in Star Citizen and I was kind of surprised at how much it reminded me of No Man's Sky [Discussion]

I admit that I'm glad that they seem to be going in a similar direction to No Man's Sky because I have also been playing a lot of Elite Dangerous and honestly their settlement system disappointed me the most.

So far the settlements in an elite are nothing more than glorified shooting galleries. It amazes me that game that prides itself on having some level of realism does not seem to think that it is unrealistic that this is my main interaction with all of the NPC in their settlements 90 percent of the time

Where are of all the peaceful settlements with npc who are just living their lives and trying to survive on a harsh planet. While no man sky may not be perfect I actually do think they capture why finding settlements on planets is so appealing the first place. The idea of coming across a Mos Eisley like town and being able to meet with and interact with weird aliens or people is the ultimate fantasy when it comes to space games... The creators of No man sky seem to understand that and from the looks of it so do the creators of Star Citizen

Can we talk power and guns? [Question]

I’m not understanding the power supply. I have a generator, when I put in carbon, it only lasts for a few minutes. Plus it uses my whole stack. What is the point of this small amount of power? I really only use it for opening my storage container. Why can’t I split my carbon stack? I don’t want to burn all my carbon up just to access my storage unit for a couple minutes. There must be a better way to do power.

Also, I found whispering eggs and want to get a new gun. Is this a good purchase or not? I just have the original weapon. I read that I will lose all my upgrades though. Is this true? Like will I have to buy another advanced mining laser?

This game has lost its way [Question]

Remember when NMS was about exploration? Don’t get me wrong, I love building bases and the alien settlements but what about we who love exploring & not sitting around in bases all day long? What is the point of having a billion planets & a starship if the game is slowly becoming The Sims in Space? I wish they’d start releasing more game content for space travel & exploration. The game is way out of balance in that respect. I recently read some dude’s ridiculous request for mini games like checkers & poker. WTF?! I don’t want to sit on my butt. I’m doing that just by playing the game! I love this game but it’s time to get back to the first intention of NMS; Space and the discoveries within it.

Finally found an experimental multitool, but despite being in a 3 star economy system it seems the highest it spawns is an A class... I know the odds of finding an S class experimental multitool are ridiculously slim but is there any benefit to holding out until I find one versus just leveling up an A class myself? How to find planets? [Question]

So I’m my solar system there 6 planets. I can see them on my galaxy map. But I can’t click on them to fly there. The galaxy map is complete garbage to me anyways. I can’t seem to get it to work at all.

Either way, I then go into space and aim my ship at certain planets. However, it doesn’t tell me their names or if I have been there or not. Except the one with my base. So how do I get to different planets? Some could be behind a planet and I wouldn’t even see it. Why won’t it show me ones I have been to and ones that are unexplored when I hover my curser on them when in space? I’ve been to 5 in this system and just want to go to the 6th, but can’t find it.

Snapping is broken and broken bad [Bug]

I'm not what you call a base-building enthusiast. The aesthetic for most of my bases could best be described as Depressingly Functional Cube. I usually build a 5x5x3 cube out of Cuboid Rooms/Glass Cuboid Rooms. Well, Frontiers has been making that damn near impossible with the "revamp" of base building.

For starters: you get a bunch of options for putting down a Base Teleport Module, but you can't actually place it until the base is powered, and even then it will deny your request to place the module except in a few places close to a wall. This is in a base that would otherwise be completely empty. I suppose this is an improvement over having the module snap to the floor face-down, but I prefer to place my teleporters in the exact middle of the base, and that's apparently not possible anymore.

Previously, I would place 25 solar panels on the roof, but for some reason the game wants to snap some solar panels to the floor, i.e. inside the base, where no one in their right mind would want to put them. I can place at most 21 or so solar panels, and that's with having to orient myself different ways, and being unable to put them as close to the center of the top of each individual room. Like I said, I'm not a base-building enthusiast, but I try to keep my bases from looking janky as best I can. The game now forces me to choose between function and jankiness. Solar panels never snapped to roofs anyway, so I was never going to achieve perfect symmetry, but this is now much, much worse.

Let's also talk about cuboid foundations/struts. They're supposed to snap to the bottom of cuboid rooms. They used to do this, and now, they don't. If you try putting them down first, you won't be able to. As far as I can tell, the sole purpose of this part is to illustrate precisely how you now can't use it. The end result of this is that my cube bases resemble a Rubik's cube perched atop the point of...

Camera problems with PS5 [Bug]

It's it too much to ask to be able to sell directly out of our freighter storage containers? [Suggestion]

I mean, I've installed this nifty matter transfer upgrade and I can teleport items in and out of the storage containers across the solar system so why, when I access the trade terminal on my freighter, can I not buy and sell directly out of them even though they're just down the hall?!

Just wanted to vent a bit about my mistake... [Discussion]

Last night I 2anted to make an activated indium farm, so I warp to a blue system, find the planet and land. 2-3 hops after initial landing and I find a vein, but it's C class so I identify it, get in my ship, fly a bit get out and repeat. Half hour later I find an S class!

Oh man I'm so excited, I run over, ID it, and then go find power. 700u away is a power vein. Perfect! Go and set up power, run cable 700u to my new farm spot and build the farm. 10 miners, 10 silos. I hook up the power and BOOM-CHUNK-CHUNK-CHUNK-BOOM!

I walk into my 4x4 and wait a min. Then go out to make sure it's all working and I notice when I open the solo inventory that Dioxite is in there...

Wut? Was that inside there when I built it? (lol)

I'm drunk and confused. I pull out my visor and check. DIOXITE CLASS S

fuck.

Tonight I break it all down and rebuild lol. I learned a few things along the way so it's sorta ok. 3 hours of my life gone though.

Upgrading a crashed starship from C class to S [Question]

I have been getting nanites and upgrading my ship to S class from C class, but the amount of unlockable inventory slots aren't increasing... Is it going to be stuck at the C class maximum storage or is it going to get to 48 slots main storage? I have never upgraded a C class to S class before, just A to S... Is there a logic to how building blocks 'change'? [Question]

When I built my last 2 bases (wood and alloy), the wall sections appeared in two different styles. It didn't seem to be random, because it was always the same positioning that resulted in that particular style. But I can't figure out what's causing them to change. It's not orientation, or height above ground, or anything else that I can see. It's incredibly annoying though, as I'm trying to e.g. build a 5-tile wall, and it just changes 3 tiles in, with no apparent way to change it back.

Just in case no-one else has seen it - the wood panels change to have see-through slats on the top third, chopping any windows short, and the alloy panels change to have a weird curved 'shield' over the top third.

Anyone else having an issue planting on their freighter? [Bug]

I've got a bunch of frostwort and solanium already growing from before the most recent patches, with a load of planters ready for nip nip waiting for me to find some nip nip buds. Finally find some, but now all of a sudden I can't plant anything on my freighter. Every plant just says "cannot plant outdoors; invalid biome" when trying to plant it. Is this a new bug, or am I doing something stupid? Playing on the ps4

Weird thing going on with mods and VR mode. [Bug]

So...with the frontiers update I can't play the game in VR with mods. When the game starts up it says the usual "this game has been modded" crap and it says to "press any key". I press the space bar to dismiss the message like I've always done, nothing happens. Like I can't dismiss the message to play with mods in VR. What's going on?

Help! I've placed some decorative plants inside a room in my friend's base and now neither of us can get rid of them. [Question]

I thought I'd play a little joke on my friend while she was AFK so I visited her base and set up some exotic-looking plants around her inside her base and trapped her inside them. They were bought from the Quicksilver store. Now we can't get rid of them. Is there a way to do this that I'm not thinking of? The build menu is no help and she's tried removing floors and destroying ground etc. but they won't budge. Are they just stuck there forever now?

Settlement Tier Dropped [Question]

I booted up the game on my Xbox today and noticed my settlement went from being an S tier yesterday to being B tier today. I have no debt, daily production is 1 million units, I just got rid of all negative traits, and my happiness/citizen level isn’t great but not horrible. Is this just a bug? Or does this happen after sentinel attacks or something?

Derelict Freighter without paying 5mil? [Answered]

So I accidentally bought the 5mil beacon thing and rather than reload I did it. Had a blast. My friend joined me because I was in trouble not having brought enough life support chargers. Anyway, he started looting and it was all instanced!

So if you get 3+ friends including you they can be profitable.

The question now is, are there cheaper reliable ways to find these? I thought I saw a guy or a map that could find these without paying 5 then 10mil ect...

Base Out of Range bug (Xbox) [Bug]

I've been having this issue on several of my base builds where I'll extend past the 300u radius limit, then when I come back later I can't build anything there, even if I try to "re-extend" the limit. Right now I'm sitting 289u from my base computer in one of the directions I extended and it's not letting me build here either. Anyone else having issues with this? Workarounds?

Asteroid fields spawn too often [Suggestion]

They need to be there but I barely leave one behind and the next one is already spawning in front of me. They mostly just get in the way and more importantly: ruin great photo opportunities. Give us some time to fly freely between two fields in clean space.

Photo Mode crashes No Mans Sky (Windows Store Edition) [Bug]

I am trying out NMS right now through the windows games pass and everything has worked so far except for photo mode. There is no official or working fix for this issue and I have searched everywhere and made a bug report. It only happens in photo mode, which is exactly what I need for multiple quests. Basically as soon as I take a picture with photo mode (left click) it freezes for a few seconds and continues for half a second, but then while saving the file crashes.

From what I can tell it tries to safe in onedrive, but I am not even sure how to change or fix this issue. Also everytime it crashes I have to "repair it" downloading one tiny file.

If anyone has any ideas for solutions that would be great.

Community idea. Don't know if this will be liked or hated, but maybe the Travelers here can post travel logs of places they've been. You know the kind of thing? The dreaded slide show Aunt Martha is dying to show you when she gets back from her two week vacation. [Suggestion]

The post image interface allows for multiple pictures, complete with captions. A dozen or more pictures from multiple planets with commentary. It could be interesting to see what other travelers find and think of this universe.

Need help with 'advanced' building controls [Question]

I saw that we were supposed to have gotten advanced building controls, but from what I can find, its actually worse than before. I can turn snap off, which is amazing, but I no longer have control of the angle. Basically, I have yaw, but what about roll and pitch? Vertical and lateral control? I don't see anything for this in the control scheme either. Am I taking crazy pills, or did we take a step back?

I just started my first Nexus mission, and I was hunted and killed by another Traveller - he was firing at me from his ship.

I’m not salty about getting killed, just curious about the community dynamics.

Are the tech upgrades you find while clearing a Derelict Freighter an indication of the upgrade class you'll get at the end? [Question]

Twice now I've gotten multiple C-Class upgrades from lockers or crates and then a C-Class freighter upgrade at the end. If the upgrades along the way are indicative of what I'll get at the end, I'd rather just get the Bulkhead upgrade and not waste the run. Anyone have any insight? I don't do a lot of Derelict runs usually.

Game crashes [Bug]

I just picked the game back up after all these years and it’s a lot more fun for sure. My problem is that for no apparent reason the game crashes. Sound continues but I can’t do anything. I just close the game and reload but it happens a lot. I’ve lost hours already because of this problem.

I’m on PS4 pro and both the system and the game are up to date.

13.3 million freighter given for free [Information]

I was going around the universe looking for a planet with storm crystals, when I warped to somewhere right into a battle between a freighter and pirates, I helped fight the pirates and got a 13.3 million $ B-class freighter as a reward. This is an almost brand new save i started a few hours ago. :D I had no idea that you could be rewarded with an entire freighter just for destroying some weak ships

Question about companion eggs. [Question]

Hello everybody, on mobile so apologies for any format issues.

Been playing the game for a while and collected a few companions but all but forgot they existed until recently. One of them is going to pop out an egg which is pretty cool.

Interacted with the companion to get the egg but the game stated I must bring the creature to its natural environment. Problem is I have no idea where I picked up the creature and I've visited a few hundred planets over at least one hundred solar systems so finding it's home seems like a near impossible task.

I've looked at the creature info and it doesn't tell me where I picked it up and couldn't find any relevant help online. Can anyone help?

Creature's Native climate is Unusual, gender is Prime and species Y.Lobpehylosima if that helps.

The new build system may make me give up on base building [Discussion]

I've played NMS for just over 1000 hours on PC and around 600 hours on PS4 prior to that and although it worked I always thought that the system for building bases was really clunky and basic and needed some love and attention so I was really pleased to see it getting reworked in Frontiers, but I've been trying to build a base with it and while they've added a lot I am amazed at just how much harder they've made it to use, particularly for basic placement of objects.

Placing down even a portable refiner takes far more attention than it used to, and the menu design, certainly while using a controller, seems much more obscure and buries basic operations like deleting a part you've placed, in sub menus. Why?! Also placing a teleporter in my base required me to stand so far back that I had to remove the wall in order to place it in my small one room shack... I can't recall ever having to do that before. Instead of being a joyful update of the build system I'm finding it a horrendously frustrating experience. I'm amazed that you guys have stuck with it enough to build the wonderfully complex bases you have been posting.

Is this always going to happen with updates? [Question]

So, I just found out that the Frontiers update not only broke my underwater base functionally, but also broke the aesthetic by changing the minerals and flora that appear underwater for this planet. (I’m on XBox, BTW) Gone are the beautiful big glowy crystals and flowing plants. Now it’s the big pine cone-looking things. (If I want to see pinecones, I can just go out in my yard, thanks!)

Does every update cause resets of the plants & minerals, or did I just get unlucky enough to now have to blow away all this work? (I really liked that base, too. Dang it!)

So I completed the starbirth quest a while ago and some kind soul gave me two more dormant void eggs while I went to go get a drink, I still have the matured living ship parts and a cracking void egg but when I put in the codes for the location of the specific ship I’m looking for the interaction you get won’t show up for me. (I’ve also tried it with the normal void egg in my inventory)

Auto upgrade from PS4 work for new owners too? [Question]

Can I now buy the PS4 disc version of the game and still have it auto upgrade to PS5 when it is loaded to the system? I saw a blog post for PlayStation when next generation was released that talked about “existing” owners so wasn’t sure if that was grandfathering or anyone who buys PS4 version whenever always gets the PS5 version loaded too. Combat overhaul [Suggestion]

Combat in this game is boring but I think very easy ways to fix that are

· a mini menu tab so I can whitelist or ban player from getting killed by my turrets or to stop stranger stealing from my refiners if I'm in a place like the galactic center

·turrets, so I can mount in my base like on a tower or on a wall to attack anything or player I do so of I want to kill my friend my turrets will help but on the other hand I want a quick menu access so I can whitelist my friends to not be eliminated if I make a mistake mining

· freighters, that I can call in with frigates to help attack pirates or just a Lesley player · owner / whitelist doors, so only I and my trusted friends can go in places I keep my refiners and such again controlled by the mini menu tab

· ship weapon overhaul so that fighting system authority ships in space isn't just boring and I feel the danger

· normal weapon overhaul, for when my friends steal my refiner stuff and need to be punished

What no mans sky needs. [Discussion]

Ive got somewhere around 1500 hours in no mans sky, Ive seen the game come a long way, this game at its heart I feel is trying to appease the players that have loved and stuck with it for so long.

My thoughts always lead me to the future of the game, what i as a player would enjoy seeing as the final product. Though no mans sky is a great game I as a player believe there should be more to the game, player driven.

The base of the game is exploration, I have a 300+ hour normal save that i play on from time to time, and an 8 hour perma death save that I am enjoying greatly.

Anyways so theres always more that we want from a game like no mans sky, we as players are always looking for that next amazing update that will blow us away and add a new and cool aspect to the game that we wouldnt of seen back when it first came out.

So, now that thats out of the way and you understand alittle more about me and my motivation ill start by saying what I'd love to see going forward. When starting out the game for the first time i would like more options.

For normal mode gameplay I would love it if the game would allow the player to start on a planet type of their choosing. They should also be able to choose if there is weather on the starter planet besides the first storm you encounter, i usually land on a planet, see one storm then never again, that seems a bit weird and from the perspective of a newer player that may not be fun for them.

Type of planet to start on would also be interesting, I understand the beginning of the game is basicly a potiential restart of the game forcing you onto some random world, but I feel like the game should know when you start a new game that youve been to the center of the galaxy at least once, at that point you should have the options. Story mode paths.

This is harder and would require the developers to put in work, but basicly, I feel you should...

How do I get electricity from a (very far away) electromagnetic spot to my base? [Question]

So I built my base in a pretty unique place so the closest hotspot I've found is this , as you can see my base is in the top of a mountain.

I was thinking into routing all the wires through lamp posts but I have several doubts. Do I lose energy when doing this? Can I route all the wires through 1 lamp post? How do I get the electricity up there? I wont be able to build lamp posts in the mountainside.

Sentinels, houses, creatures, etc ? [Question]

When this game first came out I read that if you kill anything then sentinels came and killed you? But there are missions to kill creatures. Can I kill them? There are also missions to kill sentinels? I thought they were unkillable and they would spam you if you tried?

There is a manufacturing place with a gun icon on the door. I couldn’t open the door. And sentinels were around it, so I got out of there. But what is that place all about?

The cartography guy in the station, what’s his deal? I mean, I trade him maps and he gives me maps. But they don’t seem to who need places that are useful. Maybe I am picking the wrong type. The one place was that manufacturing place guarded by sentinels, so I couldn’t get use out of it. What should I trade him for?

If there are exosuit upgrades in my general slots, are they being utilized, but taking up storage space?

Max Inventory Size Of Exotic Ships? [Question]

Howdy, thanks for clicking and hearing me out. To make a long story short, I found two of the same identical exotic ship, the Relentless Victory OW9, and one allowed me to upgrade to 3 full rows of tech and a haulers worth of cargo space. The second maxed out 25 cargo and 7 tech. How can the same ship have two different cargo capacities? How can I tell in the future? I only want ships with lots of cargo space, but how can I know I'm not getting ripped off?

Tl;dr: How can I tell the maximum size of an exotic ship without spending hundreds of millions of units?

Am I right to feel like a coward for playing ‘creative’ mode? [Information]

I started this game in normal mode, but after a few hours of gameplay I almost exclusively played creative mode. I work 5 days a week and don’t have much time to get into long duration missions.

I essentially just visit different galaxies and find planets that are unique or pleasant. Beyond that I either VERY shittily try to build something or just explore and fly around. I honestly mostly appreciate the vastness/endlessness of this game.

But if there are causal missions or anything that would be redeeming at all that wouldn’t take 3 plus hours to do, I’d go for it.

On the same note, if there are some even more unique or very cool things to find in creative mode, then I would be very appreciative of the new content

Did I screw myself out of my base? [Question]

So I found a nice planet. Not too hot, not too cold, storms that don't try to kill me. Looks pretty. I set up base.

Then I decided to go adopt a settlement. I wanted that planet, so I searched for a settlement there. I found one to adopt.

I figured I wanted to move my base closer, so I deleted my base from the far side of the planet and set up a base computer closer to the settlement. The land survey said that a base already exists and to find new land. So did I shaft myself out of a base next to my settlement?

So, just want to try the living ship thing out again. I did the whole week long grind to get the ship before awhile back, but I guess I wasn't feeling it. Mirror because the low amount of slots and being used to the s-class with the 48+21. But I'd like to give it another go, because they do look fantastic. Just don't want to go through that again. Trying to scan a worm.. [Question]

Hi everyone, I am on a new planet (still haven’t found the missing fish from the last one so decided to leave and come back last) and on this new Toxic planet I searched for a missing underground/rare and I found a worm. How do I scan it or find a way to force it to spawn? I’ve read save and fly off planet and then reload but it hasn’t worked for me. What I read said to save at a Beacon but I’ve just been saving by exiting my ship. What do I need to do to get it to spawn? I’ve ran into it twice and both times it was too fast.

Planets are way to "samey" [Discussion]

I've been playing this game since launch on PS4. Now with a ps5 I decided to try it again. Went into creative mode. And explored around 20 or so planets. And one thing I've realized, once you've explored a certain number of planets. You've seen them all.. I've been to 5 snowy planets and they ALL looked the same. Land on a lush planet? Oh but this time it has orange grass and slightly different trees! Idk. The main draw to me about this game before release was exploration. And even now after all these years planets still feel the same to me

Possible bug? [Bug]

I built a base next to the ship you come across in the early story missions, just to survive. Used the ship for a while, loved on it, and then after making my decision on what to do with the owner I scrapped it. Watching it melt down proved... cathartic. It was nice.

Anyways, recently I went back to the base to clean up, tear it down and salvage materials, and I found that the same exact ship was there. I'm pretty sure it had the same configuration of storage slots as well. This is almost certainly a bug.

Has anyone else run into this? I do a lot of distress beacon maps so maybe one caused this ship to respawn :p

[POTENTIAL SPOILERS] Question about the center of the galaxy & Portals [Spoiler]

I haven't finished the campaign yet either, I don't think, so I'd like to avoid spoilers as well.

I just played the mission where the Atlas dies and says there's 16 minutes left to existence, and now the game is telling me to get to the center of the galaxy. After checking the Galaxy Map, a few jumps (3 or 4, maybe) take me about 50 lightyears. The center is almost 600,000 lightyears away.

Did I miss anything? There has to be a better way to do this.

And about the Portals - I've heard in multiple videos on YT that you can find the glyphs either by going to tombs of fallen Travellers or by finishing the Artemis mission line. There are a few missions where you have activate a portal and you see all the glyphs there, but I can't see them in my catalogue.

Are these unlocked after the campaign? Or do I still have to go to the tombs? Plus how do I find portals in general?

New update, new save required? [Question]

Every time there is a new large update (such as the latest Frontiers) update, my current save never gets the update. Instead, I get massive performance issues and tonnes of bugs.

If I start a new save, the update is applied and the game runs smoothly.

I really don't want to do the early game grind again, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the update working with my current save and get rid of these annoying performance issues?

I'm on PC btw, not super high end, but high enough spec to handle NMS.

Unable to get free freighter after my 5th jump because I'm pulled into combat before I can answer the distress call... [Question]

I've reached my 5th jump and have tried to get my free freighter, but the 5th jump achievement overrides my ability to receive the distress call before I get sucked into combat by the enemies waiting for me when I come out of warp. After the battle, there's no communication to come aboard and the only option with the captain is to offer to buy the ship. Am I just out of luck for a free freighter, or is there a way around this issue?

Can’t find the last fauna, and it’s a comon [Question]

Does anyone else have this issue? Or should I consider uninstalling some mods?

I can’t seem to find the last fauna on this planet and it’s a common underwater one!

I went to some crazy places, from ponds to lakes and even the deepest part of this planets ocean. The only fauna that spawn are the other common ones.

This particularly hard to find animal is apparently always active, underwater, and common.

The only mod I have installed is better terrain which doesn’t modify the voxel file and just one of the settings files.

Noob question: What is the most efficient way of collecting the glyphs? And then how do you find teleporters to use them? [Question]

I returned to the game lately after years, started fresh with the Expedition and my expedition character became my main.

I see people are linking glyph coordinates to amazing places and items and I know at the end of the expedition there was a portal and glyph sequencer or something like that.

Now I know I can learn glyphs by running into Travellers I think that look like they are holographs on space stations and then if I can get them to give me a coordinate, it will lead me to their grave and have me learn a glyph. But I was wondering if this is the only way of doing it? Just going from system to system, space station to space station hoping I would find a Traveller and be able to learn the glyph or is there a smarter way of doing it?

And once I learned enough glyphs, how does one go around to using it to teleport to locations? How do you find those teleporters?

I (in America) thought this game might be great for playing with a friend of mine who is in Japan, but considering the distance I wanted to ask the community..

A: This game is multiplayer now, right? I remember that it was not on launch.

B: (assuming it is multiplayer) what does it take to play with someone else? Does it require a server or do you just join each others games directly via Steam or such

C: how playable is the multiplayer with a bad ping? Since I and my friend are on opposite sides of the world, we are never going to have a great connection. Is a high ping mostly fine with occasional issues, a constant annoyance but playable, or effectively unplayable?

Trying to get a settlement [Question]

I've found the perfect system (t3 korvax) and the perfect planet and now I want to put a settlement there and I keep getting locational interference. I tried to brute force it and it sends me to an unusable beacon (the same one every time). Default Linux install location [Question]

So I've downloaded NMS GoG crack (yeah i know but im broke), and installed it and it works just fine, except I have no idea where it is. The default location is stated to be C:\GoG\NoManSky or something like that, but Im running Ubuntu 20.04.

I also cant find it through the search bar or anything. So the only way to access it is to run the installer again, wait for it to finish and press the launch option at the end. Is there a fix for this?

What should I put into my first biodome? [Question]

Not trying to make a super serious unit farm on my first dome. It's just decoration for my first base.

I haven't done the atlas quest line yet. I just finished with uh, Artemis and no spoilers there but now I have to go talk to Apollo.

I'm able to farm millions of units pretty quickly just exploiting some of thus games money makers so not feeling the hurt there.

So based on where I'm at, what would be the most useful thing to do with my first biodome?

Two suggestions regarding companion pets [Suggestion]

I have two suggestions I would like to propose regarding companion pets: Deployable training/fun tech: I was thinking about ways to incorporate the pets into our base building, and other ways we might interact with them. It got me thinking that something that would be fun to have is a few buildable machines or deployable objects that we could carry in our inventory, that could be used to train our pets to perform tasks or up certain stats. These stats could result in better performance from our pets during exploration.

For example: A fetch toy (squeaky ball, bone, etc.) that could be thrown, upon being thrown it gives a command to the pet to find it and bring it back to the player. This could be used to train them in "Scouting." Or some sort of capsule that, when deployed, is buried in the ground that the pet then has to find a dig up. This could train them in uncovering items. Certain items could also be used to provide longer bonuses to their morale; like a Teddy bear toy that we can give them as part of a small inventory they can carry in their backpacks. When idle one of their animations could involve them sleeping next to it or playing with it in some fashion. Buildings: My second idea involved a hutch or an enclosure of some kind that could be built by the player as part of their base. These could be used as a place for our pets to hang out, play, rest, eat etc. while we're at our bases. In a similar fashion to the way landing pads function with our ships we could summon the pet(s) to an enclosure and then watch as they go about doing various activities. By enclosure I mean an area roughly the size of the small landing pad, if not smaller depending on the pet size, that could then be scaled up or down to correspond with the size of the pet intended to stay in it. (E.g. a small fenced in area for pets about the size of a large dog or a larger "pasture" type area for...

Apparently I don't know how to build sidewalks! [Question]

I feel so silly that I am having trouble with this! All I've wanted to do since I started my settlement is build some nice sidewalks and plant some trees. Well this is my second settlement since my first one was bugged. I've spent weeks going through the build options to hit the cap so I can finally start customizing. I didn't realize that the ground isn't actually level. So when I build sidewalks some are entrenched in the ground while others are floating. So then I got to work leveling the ground but that makes the buildings float and look weird. And of course this is too much for my ai settlers who can not maneuver around everything and are getting stuck with their pathing. Is there a smarter way to do this? Are all the planets I discovered different now? [Question]

This is probably a nooby question. I started playing in April and I noticed after the recent updates that all the planets I have discovered do not have the names I gave them. This makes it hard for me to remember which is which because I named them to keep track of what they are. Also, part of the fun of NMS is discovering things and naming them. So is this just something that happens from time to time? It's really a bummer!

I lost my ship! [Question]

So I just found my first downed spaceship! I claimed it, hopped in, fixed up the required parts and off I went. I ended up landing at the space station, and figured I'd try summoning my other ship, and it said I was out of launch fuel! Now I have no idea where I left that ship. No weather effects when in shelter [Question]

Hi all, just getting into this game and it looks exciting but one small thing is bugging me. One of the most fun things about environmental hazards imo is feeling sheltered from them when under cover, however when I get into a storm and go undercover, the storm basically disappears! Seems small but it takes away from the experience a bit for me. Anybody know if there's a setting I can change or mod I can download? Thanks!

Do settlement perks like Anti-Sentinel Defense have hidden values? [Question]

The current policy decision at my settlement is between researching Atlas Shields/Camouflage for Anti-Sentinel Defense or researching housing. Atlas Shields increased Happiness by 3%, but one would think there would be some effect on the way Sentinel Alert Level behaves. Nothing shows a difference with sentinels though. The housing perk states that it increases population, but when I select it the population doesn't change.

Do perks like these have hidden effects that aren't immediately visible?

Question about base NPCs [Question]

I've been working my way through the Expanding the Base missions and am about finished, only waiting on plants to grow for the Agricultural Terminal. After I finish, I'd planned on deleting my base and moving it to my newly acquired freighter so I can bring it with me and regain the sense of wanderlust I like from the game. That said, I've got two questions about this move:

1: Will my NPCs automatically move up to my freighter once I've built them their stations on board, or will I have to manually move them somehow? Alternatively, is it even possible to move them at all, or will I have to hire new NPCs to staff the freighter stations?

2: I understand that I can't put an Exocraft Terminal on the freighter, so if I delete my base does my Exocraft Technician simply disappear, or does he stay hired and reappear when I place another Exocraft Terminal if I ever find a planet I actually want to call home, or will I need to find a new NPC to hire in his place?

I don't mean that we can't. We just NEVER see each others in the game. We're all doing something different, we even built 3 bases as close as possible in the same planet but we still have nothing to do together.

It's actually sad the game doesn't want coop, you can't do most things together because you end up with one player getting the reward for something and the others are left out.

The delerict has even 4 landing pads but only one player can get the final freighter module... What

Except for the quicksilver missions I guess.

I have over 300 hours in this game, but something's been bothering me. [Discussion]

There's very little actual danger in the universe, and there seems to be little reason to go out into the black and explore. (Doesn't mean I'm not always exploring)

Sometimes, it feels like little of consequence happens in the universe.

Expedition 3 kinda completely did a 180 and more or less addressed all these things.

The "Profanity filter" is idiotic at best. (Post just for reading, comments won't add anything to a solution.) [Information]

Plain and simple:

Since when, writing a number is a profanity?

I name my bases with "distance to center, cheaper element, especial features"

I get 1984'd just writing something simple as "200,395 LY". Yes, that was the only thing written and got rejected by the "Ministry of Truth".

OK, I tried with some Spanish words and as I suspected I can't write "black" in Spanish, probably I can't write it here too, it's a stupid color! Literally there is no way in Spanish to say that word is a profanity! GOD!

In any case I don't play online, writing such innocuous things will get me banned, LOL! Banned for writing numbers or writing in Spanish a common use word. What a shock!

Don't worry, I don't care if they fix that or not, I don't plan going online, not with such flaws.

Thanks for reading, I needed to vent my frustration with the filter! Or more like, the "Ministry of Truth doesn't like you think by yourself" filter.

Nothing at settlement construction site? [Question]

I'm on The Settlers mission and I've built an Overseer's Office. There is an icon directing me to a construction site (for a cooling tower) but it's just outside of the settlement and there's nothing there, no prompts, no anything.

Has anyone else ran into this? Any idea what I should do next?

Pulsing smack into my freighter [Question]

Not sure if this is a bug, so I’ll pose it as a question for now.

A few weeks back, I acquired my first freighter. Travelling back to it using the pulse engine, it would drop me out of pulse well before the freighter and I could finish off the trip and dock on thrusters.

But it seems like one of the recent updates has changed that. Now, most of the time when I pulse back to the freighter I end up slamming into it and taking damage, or worse still it smacks me straight into the engines where I bounce around with no way out until the ship is destroyed or I reload my last save.

Now is have to be on the ball and drop out of pulse manually.

Anyone else noticed this?

Need y'all's opinion [Question]

Howdy all. So just reinstalled NMS after not having played it for probably a year. I never finished the story and was only about 30 hours deep. I know I've missed many updates so my question is should I hit the reset button and start over or just continue on? I don't overly care about the story or lore, I'm more just go out and do what I do and try and make money and build stuff as a whole but I know I'll be rusty and not sure if anything new has been added that would benefit me to start fresh. What cha all think?

Stuck on a Planet with no Na or Ferrit. Help please! [Question]

So I went onto the quest where you have to locate the sunken ship of a stranger. Now the planet in my save got created in a way, where I could only land my vehicle about An hour away. I then took a Nomad and went to the ship wreck in 10 minutes.

Which I claimed.

And then I couldn't find my old ship. But the new one is broken. And I don't have the parts.

In addition to that I am out of batteries for the climate protection, most of the equipment is broken and there is no NA, Kobalt or Ferrit anywhere. So while I can get Oxygen (from the plants), the Cold weather always kills me. While I can't reach my nomad nor know my old ship is.

In another thread I read that I have to join another player's safe, farm what I need and go back to my safe.

But... I don't have friends. Is there another solution or does someone has the time to help me out ?

Living space stations [Suggestion]

(first, post new account since I don't use Reddit) ok, this came to me from out of nowhere but here's my idea. is that there could be a living space station that kinda looks like the living ship and you enter viva what looks to be its mouth once inside there would be two sides like a normal space station but instead of the market or module vendors, you have travellers that have kinda built a community inside and on the left is where you can learn the atlas language by talking to them or find the one vendor on that sells the living ship modules (rarity is different system to system) on the right. Now more on what it would look like. I would think it would look more like the living ship was turned up by 11 with certain parts constantly moving some even trying to grab any objects. But while on the inside it would look like it has combined with a normal station with the core you see in a normal space station replaced with ether its soul or heart. The two platforms and stairs leading up are wrapped around tendrils with bits of metal showing. While on the left side the vendor stations are all engulfed by the mass of the station with travellers having set up campfires chairs and tables with few plants around. While on the right side though there would be a (mostly) normal market station and the only vendor where they have set up something like a makeshift shack. IDK if this will ever make it to the game but it was a cool idea for me

Prove your honour to the Vy’Keen glitch? [Question]

Started the Patterns in Time mission normally, talked to the Vy’Keen cartographer, got the coordinates and went straight to the map location it was suggesting.

There is a Vy’Keen reliquary there where the marker is (apparently supposed to be a monolith instead?). I interact and get one trident key, that I use to open one of the three chests below.

But looks like this didn’t give me the Vy’Keen artifact that is needed to progress the mission. The chest content (relic) doesn’t do it for the cartographer, and the mission keeps telling me to go back to the reliquary even tho there is nothing there to do (cannot open the other chests as only get one key).

Been trying to rest the mission but can’t figure out how on the PS4. Wiki says hold R3 on the mission in the log but nothing happens.

Pls send help, imma smash something soon otherwise XD

Am I getting super unlucky with my settlement prompts or am I doing something wrong? [Question]

So after the first couple of days of being overseer of a settlement I haven't gotten a single new opportunity to build a new building, it's all just visitors with warnings to increase happiness (which has been at 100% forever) or chances to decrease debt by fining criminal activity (I have not had debt in days). I log in several times a day in the hope of decent new opportunities but nope, never happens.

Biomes are a thing. [Information]

I didn't know this was a thing. I was setting up a Mining operation and scoping out a good location on an irradiated planet. I genuinely though that 1 planet = 1 biosphere but, no. This one went from insane mountains that pierce the atmosphere to rolling hills to near enough flat costal. I found my spot on the coast but, that's beside the point here. I'm genuinely impressed with this tech. Just incredible Hello Games. Thank you!

NMS Exocraft/Minotaur Cannon Upgrades [Question]

Hello guys,

I've recently started playing the game and I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but pretty much seems so. Would really appreciate it if you could help me figure it out.

So, today I tested and saw something really weird with the Exocraft & Minotaur Cannon Upgrade modules.

They state that they Increase Fire Rate by a certain %, say, 20%, but what actually happens is that they decrease the Fire Rate by this %. Fully upgraded Exocraft/Minotaur Cannon fires almost 2x slower than not upgraded one.

Can anyone please confirm if this is a bug?

Help! I really want to get back to a system [Question]

First off, I'm pretty new to the game. I found an uninhabited system a few days ago. No station, no trade, no buildings on planets. It was off the beaten path a bit, not directly on the warp lines in the Galaxy map.

This system is amazing! It had some really exotic worlds, and I really got into naming everything. As I was traveling to the last unexplored world in the system, a black hole appeared in front of me. I didn't really know what it was, so I tried to go around it, but apparently didn't go wide enough. It shot me across the galaxy. Since then, I've been trying to find that dang Exotic System again! I've tried warping to nearly every space station I've ever visited, but I can't seem to locate the system in the Galaxy map.

Please, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Buildings, teleporter, spaceship, chlorine [Question]

I don’t understand why I need to make a building. I can do everything outside. What is the point of having an inside area?

Also, I have seen people with a teleporter inside their structures and next to their refiners. But when I use my teleporter on the way back from a place, my spaceship is smashed right on top of it. I have to make sure my teleporter is far away from my other things, like refiners, or I can’t use them. It’s annoying. So how do you combat this?

Does the chlorine trick work? I saw a vid on it and wondered if it has been patched out?

What’s the fastest way to Eissentam? [Question]

I finished the the Atlas and Artemis paths and made it to the Calypso galaxy. From what I understand you have to go through the center of each galaxy to get to the next, is there a way to skip straight to the Eissentam Galaxy? I see a few bases in the “all” tab of the portals at space stations but it always gives the unable to download base error, If I get someone who has a base in Eissentam to join my session will I be able to teleport to them or their base?

Is my settlement screwed? [Bug]

I found the perfect planet and a settlement and took it over. Built a beautiful base nearby and got it to A rank! One day the settlement bugged out and I lost all my buildings and couldn’t do anything more in my settlement so I searched for a new settlement via a chart and found one really close to my current settlement. Like within a two minute walk. I took it over and I can’t do anything because it won’t even let me build an overseer office. If I use a planetary chart to locate new settlements it constantly directs me to my old settlement even if I dash to the opposite side of the planet. Am I screwed?

I have played NMS on my PS5 previously, and have a solid grasp on the game, my main save there is Survival as I felt Normal = Easy/Story mode. I worry the resource management would be too tedious for survival on VR but IDK.

Exotic Ship Hunting : which to scrap? [Question]

Hi All - I'm a pretty casual NMS player so I'm a bit of a novice, but I've been playing more recently following all of the improvements to the game. I've been trying my hand at exotic ship hunting for the past few weeks and have done pretty well, but I've quickly reached the 6 ship limit. I also scrap ships so I can really only afford to have 5 permanent craft, so one of these has to go (I also have a living ship not shown below).

The thing is I like them all more or less equally, so are any of these particularly rare and worthy of being kept? At a push I'd probably say that the little red guppy was my least favourite (I also found a similar one with downward boosters, no back spike and double thrusters which I had to pass on). I'm struggling to make a decision, so i thought that someone with more experience of hunting ships might be able to help by pointing out the more common/rare ones.

P.S Has Hello Games ever commented on increasing the ship allowance? Given the number of variations, 6 seems a little low. Ideally I'd like to have a Fighter or two as well.

Question about my mission log after finishing the Expedition [Question]

Soni finished the Expedition and now I have 3 quest under "primary missions".

"The Atlas Path", which I have no issues with; "Expedition Three: Cartographers", which isn't completed but just shows the last objective as Expedition Complete and saying the save will revert to a normal save, which it isn't when I chose my saves; And "The Space Anomaly", which tells me to search for Artemis (who I haven't talked to in this save), that Nada and Polo will help (I've talked to them and exhausted all dialogue options), and the select "alone amidst the stars" from my mission log, which isn't there.

I'm not really sure where to go from here in terms of the missions. Nada did have the option to give him something but I couldn't because I guess I don't have whatever it is. I read something about resummoming the anomaly to kick start the mission but that didn't help, nor did restarting the game. Any insight?

Is there any way to get a different starting ship expediton 3 [Question]

I have several hundred hours in no mans sky between a couple of platforms, but as of yet I havent seen a squid exotic when I had the credits/ ship slots for it, and so with expediton 3 having exotics as starter ships I was hoping to have one, but instead I am stuck with the ugliest exotic I have ever seen. Making a new expedition save gives me the same ship and so I was wondering if there is a way to generate a new save with a a different ship? Also does the ship transfer to my main save after the expedition? Even if it doesnt I still want to figure out how to get a different ship but I'd love to know.

Do you think going into base building mode in creative mode should disable time of day and the weather? [Discussion]

So the past few days I've been experimenting with base building in creative mode.

But one thing bothers me. The time of day cycle and the weather patterns continue while your in build mode.

This means one minute I'm building in clear daylight blue skies and a few minutes later it's pitch black and the screen has gone all blurry because a storm is raging.

Now in other game modes you need to top up your hazard protection so I've not got a problem with that.

But in creative mode. It's God mode. I can't die.

So why must I have my vision impaired with night time and storms.

Surely it would be better if the moment you went into build mode. It's 12 noon and clear skys. Even if it was 2am and a storm is raging just before you pressed the build option button.

I'm just trying to gauge if you all think this makes sense and I should put a ticket into the zendesk. Or if it really doesn't bother you building on the dark in the middle of a storm.

Can't get settlement to spawn on paradise planet. [Question]

I've gone to many different systems and found some nice paradise planets but every time I scan for a settlement it takes me to an off planet location. And more often then not, with high sentinel activity.

I've tried reloading before scanning. And it just sends me to the same stupid, not paradise planet.

Before it would just put one in the planet I was on. Now, nope, some uninhabitable place.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm getting so frustrated with this.

Settlement help [Question]

Does anyone know a solution for this problem: I used a chart to find a settlement and it spawned one on my home planet but... It cut a square in the terrain and the settlement is now in an enormous deep square pit. Is there a way to despawn it or is it there forever? I'm not yet the overseer of that settlement btw

S Class Experimental Rifle [Question]

I have been playing this game for a very long time. Every time I take a break and come back to it I restart my survival file. I’ve decided this will be my last new game and am really committing to this play through. My favorite thing to do is get an experimental rifle for the scan bonuses. However, I only have one glyph. Is there anyway for me to find a good one without having all 16 glyphs? The multi tool hunt is my least favorite grind so I just want to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy upgrading it and exploring. Thanks for the help!

Can settlements be set to run automatically? [Question]

I've just gotten the settlement distress signal mission and dutifully went down to investigate. The settlement in question is on a nice planet, though its got aggressive sentinels, but the main issue is that I'm no planning on having a ground base any time soon... I've been setting up my playthrough to operate pretty much entirely out of a freighter and planned on wandering the galaxy/galaxies until I find a world that I just can't pass up the opportunity to build a base on. Taking care of a settlement is basically the antithesis of that lifestyle, so right now I'm debating just ignoring the settlement mission to go on my wanderlust journey. The question I have though is whether or not its possible to automate a settlement (i.e. the way civilization can automate a city's development) so I can set it to run and forget about it, or maybe swing by occasionally to pick up the goods the settlement produces.

Can someone help me? [Bug]

I’ve gotten to the main mission “Scientific Research” and it is glitched, the point it’s glitched at is the point where you have to enter the space station and meet the scientist but when I enter the marker doesn’t go away, I’ve tried looking around for the NPC but no luck. Can anyone give me any tips on how to fix this glitch? (This is not the first time a bug like this has occurred but I still don’t know how to fix it)

Scatter Blaster Reload Time [Discussion]

Are there any tricks to decreasing the reload time other than finding upgrades that include this as one of the benefits? It's the one thing I hate about this weapon: takes for fucking ever to reload the ammo. EDIT: I have the shell greaser upgrade but it still feels like it takes a long time.

Settlement exchange glitched [Question]

I got the mechanical part from my settlement.

Sold a part for the amount of 250 mill last week, don't have a screenshot .

What surprised me is I never had more than 10 million in the game.

The details showed the part as only being sold on the exchange and not used for anything else.

It showed 250,000 but the remained zeros didn't show.

What part would this be?

Problem With Low FPS [Bug]

hello, i tried setting my number of threads in game to a better configuration as i saw on a post in this subreddit, and it worked for a few days but now the game changed to the stardard configuration and i tried changing it again but everytime i open the game, it resets to the standard number of threads, (4 high/4 low). can someone help me? also is there any other efficient method to make the game run better? (i have a gtx1060 3g and an i7 3775).

Tips for locating fauna on planets [Discussion]

Recently one of my favorite ways of making nanites is to go to a planet and scan all of the animals on it. It also allows me to grab salvaged data and other things. The only thing I've noticed is I often times struggle finding the animals that are labeled as underground. Do they spawn in caves or do I basically need to just keep walking and hoping they spawn.
