My thoughts on Frontiers [Discussion]
Like many of you, I’ve been thinking about Frontiers ever since we got word of it. What could it be? When are we getting it? And, while I can’t answer the when, I have some pretty interesting ideas on the what. TLDR will be at the bottom.
So, Frontiers is going to be something that’s been missing from No Man’s Sky. But who’s to say it’s just gonna be one, big feature? This is the 5th anniversary, a milestone for the game that’s gone through a miraculous shift. I think this is going to be big, and here are my ideas: Occupations
No Man’s Sky is the game for a curious explorer. Countless planets in a procedurally generated galaxy. But… that’s kind of it. Exploration is the only thing that has any depth to it. And I feel like now is a good a time as any to open up some new frontiers to us. An actual purpose, for each and every one of us.
You can sortve farm animals now with the livestock unit, but imagine if you could make an entire, functional ranch.
You can mine, and while that’s profitable, that’s all there is to it. Imagine if you could build a massive mining operation with conveyor belts and everything.
Become a pirate, or a professional surveyor, a physicist, collector, a corporate trade lord; all with bases and tools to make it feel like you have a purpose in this game. Your purpose. Improved Generation
I feel like this is a candidate for every big update. More flora, fauna, and mineral parts. Looser rules for planetary generation. Better, more realistic and dynamic terrain. Rivers, gas giants, rare landforms. That MMO feel
We have three main sapient races, clearly trillions in numbers, and the most we ever see is some random house with a bed and a window. So, like many others, I feel like we could end up with cities. But not only that, cities where we can walk around and pick up quests isolated to that planet.
Got a raptor...
