Fleet Update Concept [Discussion]
I've been running around NMS the last few weeks, and as I've progressed through the game I've noticed the desire for multiple freighters popping up repeatedly, and as a whole the freighter/frigate systems seems kind of lackluster. The modular default freighters look like crap, usually, the cool ones are few and far between, more so if they're the unique types that always look the same. Star Destroyers, the ships from WH40K, etc. Frigate designs I like but are also lacking; frigate types have one design apiece. So, after a couple days thinking about it, I'd like to propose an update to the current system and see if the community feels the same. Amount of freighters:
There should still be a limit, obviously, but NPC fleets can have three, and usually have at least two, so I don't see why we can't. Maybe five if I'm being generous. Amount of Frigates:
I don't have a problem with the amount, per se, but having more would be nice. Starting with 30 and then increasing by 10 with each new freighter would be pretty cool, I think. Start at 30 with one and end with 50 at two, or eighty at three. Freighter design:
Modular freighters should be able to be modified with new parts, or switch the parts around to look cooler. I'm not sure if freighter class is already related to size, but if it isn't that would be nice as well. C-class are small, S-class are big. Upgrading Freighters:
When we get a new freighter, that freighter's class is to my knowledge locked in. C stays C, B stays B, and so on. Being able to upgrade it like every other ship would be great, and with the size system mentioned in part 3 would make us able to increase the ship size and storage with each upgrade. Flagships:
When you get more than one freighter, you're required to designate a flagship; this one being the one that can't get sent on missions, or the one that is summoned first. Given that summoning your fleet next...
