Game bugged out [Question]

Hi there! new to the game, 10hrs in and really loving the gameplay, but i have one big issue, that makes me want to uninstall. I have the game at the absolutely lowest possible graphical settings, 1080p, but will only get 30-40 fps on planets. I have tried tweaking everything, including NumLow/High threads, uopdating windows, all drivers, reinstalling both the game and steam. My gpu is not the best, but still, i should be getting waaaay more than what i am getting rn. Does anyone have any tips, or fixes to this? If i have understood correctly, this is an common problem at the moment.

  • Win10

  • GTX 1060 3gb

  • Ryzen 7 3700X (8 core, 3.6 base 4.2 boost)

  • 32Gb of ram

Whats the point of the different land exocraft? And how do you steer the minotaur? [Question]

So I had built the roamer a while ago but I haven't really used it much...mainly just use to drive back and forth to different parts of my base. Anytime I need to travel further away from my base I usually just take my ship.

Out of curiosity i finally bought the bp to build the nomad and minotaur. I thought the nomad would be faster then the roamer since it's smaller but if it is faster it's not very noticeable.

The minotaur I assume is mainly meant for battle? And how do you steer the minotaur? With the other two whatever direction i look at is the direction it goes. With the mino it seems like the upper body turns in that direction, but it keeps walking in the same direction. And pressing S just seems to make it turn in a circle. Is that how you turn, by using S ?

Im sad [Discussion]

I didnt play for a few weeks and today i noticed that they nerfed the derelicts.. :(

I had a favorite one, where i always got 4-6 or more s-class upgrades and boatloads of tainted metal, a half an hour run would result in around 8k-10k nanites after selling/refining everything, sometimes more.

Now i rarely get s-class upgrades at all, mostly c- and b-class and less tainted metal.

Also i noticed you got 730 tainted metal for selling the captains log and crew record before, now its only 450, making the run result in only around 2k-4k nanites.

I dont want to just scrap exotics for nanites, its so boring. :(

Im sad. :((

I’m confused by the different types of MT.

My understanding is there are 4 types. Pistol, Rifle, Experimental, and Alien

However, I keep seeing posts like “Experimental Pistol” and “Alien Rifle”.

As an example, does an “experimental pistol” get different bonuses from an “experimental rifle”?

63:9 On Three Monitors, But I Want My HUD on the Center Monitor, not the FAR Corners of My Left and Right... [Question]

Hi All,

I recently upgraded my cockpit to be fit with three 21:9 monitors, and also recently finally began playing NMS. I've been experimenting with NVidia Surround, and got the game loaded up on this Ultra-Ultra wide screen setup.

It was pretty awesome to see such a large FOV, but I noticed that my HUD elements hugged the far left and right corners, since according to the PC the three screens acted as one large monitor.

My question is this: Is it possible to move the HUD elements to still be where they'd normally be only playing on a single screen? My screens are fairly close to my head, so in order to see the elements I literally have to turn my head.

Most of my searches and attempts to find answers to this took me to what I presume was issues with stretching of the HUD elements in 21:9 gaming. I couldn't find anything on this.

Where are the underground fauna? [Question]

I have about 60 hrs into my save, on the planet with my main base I have found all but on critter. I have other planets where I have discovered all critters but this one is boggling me. The info says it is located underground. The caves on this planet are sparse and generally shallow, but even when I find a deep cave I can't find even a red dot. I have noticed generally if I cant find an animal it is usually underwater and underground. Does anyone have any tips to find this last animal?

As the title says a friend and I have decided to play this game together. I haven't touched it since it launched and been wanting something to play with a buddy of mine. Anniversary Update: Speculation [Discussion]

I want to know what everyone thinks will be in the anniversary update. The big update for the year. Think about what they’ve done in the past, now think about the fact that this year is special being the 5th anniversary. We haven’t gotten an emoji from Sean, and Expedition 3 has yet to release. I’m thinking that we may not see another update until August, for the anniversary. I think they’re waiting until the big one to release Expedition 3 and they’re going to focus the expedition on the contents of that update.

As far as the contents of the update goes... what do you think? I’ve already heard a few rumors going around, everything from flowing water and being able to collect/place it, to an enemy race that we will be able to battle it out with and actually conquer territory/ star systems from.

I myself am hoping for a more fleshed out survival experience along with a lot of endgame content and money sinks. The beginning and mid game is pretty solid, but the late game definitely needs a lot of work.

Is there a way to prevent anyone from building into my private system? [Question]

I've got my own private world in my own private system way away from everybody, because I hate the clutter that you see in habited systems. There's always a million waypoint markers and messages cluttering every inch of space. Short of hiding my coordinates so no one can find me is there a way I can prevent other people from building in the system or even just the planet I live in? I'd love to be able to show off my base and allow people to tour my system but I need to preserve its natural beauty.

Hi, I’m a player who goes by the name of (PSN) TheWhisperingEgg. I’ve been playing this game since release, and I can say it’s been a pleasure playing this game for nearly 5 years. Going through the game, I never learnt of its true extent. 255 galaxies. Billions, even trillions of stars. A near uncountable amount of planets to explore. And a couple weeks ago I have decided it’s time I attempt the ultimate challenge. From galaxy #20, Doctinawyra, i plan to make it to galaxy #255, Iousongola, visiting every galaxy along the way, in Permadeath. It may take weeks, months even, but I shall never give up. To do this, however, I’ll need help from the community. On my way to galaxy #20, the pain of it was that sometimes I’d start over 700k lightyears away from the center, but to overcome that, I’d use portal coordinates to get to a gateway system faster. What I’ll need is a heap of portal coordinates that lead to places close to the centres of galaxies. If there’s any updates, I’ll post to this community. Sometimes I find close to no info on coordinates fo certain galaxies, like Tuhgrespod. (#254, only one away from Iousongola) And that’s why I’ll need help from here. For now, information I find on galaxies 20-30 is plentiful, but after that the amount of info there is deteriorates until I can find just about nothing. If you have info for gateway system coordinates, you can comment them here or message me on PSN. (my PSN username was at the beginning) Even a good luck wish can help, if it’s the most you can do. If I succeed in doing this, then i can officially be one of the first people to visit all 255 galaxies, and i will be very thankful. Travel on!

So now I have an exotic ship with 40 slots [Bug]

The whole inventory changed with the ship I was using, I thought that reloading would fix it...It didn't change. Two copies of that ship appeared first, I thought: stonks, and scrap them. When I came back to the one remaining it copied the inventory.

Ship changed shape [Bug]

So I finally found a ship I really liked, a fighter. I reloaded for hours, found an S version. Maxed it out. Now, for some reason, it switched and now looks like a blue exotic royal. What crap. Same name as the old ship, same stats. I don't think I want to spend hours again so the game can randomly screw me.

No Mans Sky guide/planning website [Discussion]

When it comes to very in depth survival/crafting games like this my ADD is often leaving me wondering what the hell i was doing/need to do. i’ve made a couple apps like this for other games and this game is definitely a perfect candidate. what are some things that you think would be useful? currently the only thing i have is keeping track of your planet and star systems stats (planet types and their descriptions, economy, conflict, wealth, buy/sell, galactic trading stations items, upgrades sold for suit, craft, ship, and multi tool, etc, etc) i may also plan on adding a storyline tracker but would have to implement it to eliminate spoilers. i have more ideas and such but i wanna get some good feedback before i continue. if you wanna collaborate with me on this project, i’m making it in java to run on an applet.

Eissentam the Hard Way [Discussion]

So, I just completed the Artemis Path and, to be honest, I was a little disappointed. Without going into too many spoilers, I made the choices everybody makes, and ended up on a beautiful planet in Eissentam. But getting there that way really felt like a total cheat - like I just skipped a huge chunk of the game and the journey that made it special and would have given me a real sense of accomplishment. Plus it just seems like the selfish choice. Not sure that's the story I want to play.

I still have the hard save from right before the final portal and I think I'm gonna reload.

Am I being a masochist? I mean, with black holes (but without internet portal addresses or piggy-back rides from friends), this is still doable within a reasonable period of time, right? Did anyone else say, "Nah"?

I reported a base because they had built over the planets portal controls on a busy Euclid planet (Arus). It was a real dick move on their part.

It disappeared for me but I was wondering what happens? Is it reviewed? What about others who don't know how to report and can't use the portal?

Sean should really create a new starter galaxy just like the Milky Way. [Suggestion]

Or keep it Euclid. But everyone starts in the same system no matter what mode it is. The 9 planets are recreated in the system and it’s like a hub system like the Anomaly. That way people can stop trying to find Earth as it’s already there, it’ll be colonized with many bases and so forth. Missions and seeing players doing their thing. It would be cool.

PS4 recorded gameplay looks terrible [Question]

When I watch my NMS recorded gameplay on my tv it looks very different from when I was playing the game. The colors are different and it’s not as clear. The video also sometimes seems to skip a second or two. Why does this happen and how can I correct it?

How to go back to the downed ship in the beginning of the game? [Question]

Just got the game. I finished the part where you visited a downed ship near the beginning of the game. I claimed the ship and I'm able to see it in my summon list, however it won't come because it was broken. I don't remember which planet it's from and I doubt I can find it if I land on the planet. I want to go back to the ship and fix it so I can fly it. Is there a way I can go back to the ship? Thanks.

Save reverting to hours ago [Bug]

I play on Xbox one. I loaded my survival save and it had reverted to a previous time. I had jumped in and out of my ship multiple times on different planets, but when I loaded my save it had gone back to before I went through a portal and explored a few different systems. Playing offline currently, but game is up to date. Anyone else experience this?

VR takes forever to load [Question]

Running a computer with a Geforce GTX 1660 Ti and 16 GB of RAM and this game spends literally 10 minutes loading into my Oculus Quest 2. Why? It makes no sense whatsoever. I have plenty of free memory and an NVME card.

How do you make money in No Man's Sky? [Question]

Hi everyone! I absolutely love the game but sadly had an on and off relationship with it since release. I finally decided to sit down and just let it play out and I'm loving it. I have 130 hours in it and had many restarts every time I came back to the game.

My problem always has been the lack of units in the game and I have never been able to figure out how earning works in this game. I have watched videos about crashing market prices and duping cobalt with oxygen and I did both on a save and got decently rich but in both cases but I felt like I was cheating or using an exploit or something.

So my question is: Is there a 'legit' way of making money in No Man's Sky and if so what is it? Also what is your preferred way of making money.

On my latest save I'm currently sitting at 27 000 units.

What is the point of playing if I encounter bugs all the time and hellogames never respond to resolve the issues?

Cant load my old save files [Question]

About 6 months ago I deleted the application no mans sky on my PlayStation 4. I wanted to try the game again and decided to reinstall it again and play on my old world. However, when I loaded up the game none of my old save files were there and I’m confused since I never deleted the saved game data. When I go to my saved data I see the data from when I last played the game, but I have no idea how to access it. I have no idea how to get my old saves back and would like to get them back since I put many hours into the game. If anyone could help it would be appreciated it. Also, I have two different save files for the game, one of which is my old save and the other with the new save files. I had to get a new copy for the game since I lost my original copy.

No mans sky Vr not starting but now theres a video of the problem [Bug]

I thought I should try and progress through the tutorial on flat screen so I can learn a bit of how the game works before I start VR. I finished most of these tutorial and when I go to launch no Man's sky through my VR headset (Oculus quest 1 with link cable) it just launches the game on my desktop flat screen. I have tried launching it in VR from the steam page in my library, it does not work. I have tried launching it from the steam VR home, and it again just launches the flat screen version. I also tried launching it from virtual desktop, and that has the same results. I saw in another forum post that I should put -HmdEnable 1 in the launch properties of steam to fix the issue, but it does not work for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to play this game.

Finally a hospitable planet! [Suggestion]

I finally got to the “next” galaxy and found a planet that isn’t constantly trying to kill me! Eissentam, of course. Beautiful place. I wish I had done it sooner and highly recommend that other new players figure out how to make the leap (no spoilers) sooner rather than later. Have fun everybody! I know I’m about to.

Need a little help, i fucked my Eissentam up (atlas quest spoiler) [Spoiler]

Hey guys, i finally completed Atlas Quest, going in blind i didnt think about creating a teleport gateway after arrival.

So basicly i just summoned to anomaly to get to my Euclid base for materials for repairs, so now i can't get back.

I tried portals, seems they cant warp between galaxies, i tried looking for Eissentam bases in anomaly teleporter but either i dont recognize them or there havent been any.

Hey guys! Can you tell if my PC will be able to play in VR with Oculus Quest 2? [Question]

Hi everyone. I have a Dell G5 5590 (RTX 2060, i7-9750HQ, 16GB RAM) and I'm considering buying the Quest 2 as my first VR headset.

I have zero experience with VR in general, but I read that it can be used to play PCVR games too, using the cable or via WIFI.

Would my PC be able to play NMS decently with the Quest 2?

Anybody here have experience with a similar spec?

Help! Error CE- 34878-0 on PS4. Version 3.53 [Bug]

Apologies for the editing, posting via my phone.

My game crashes everytime I am near my base. Either immediately or few seconds after arriving at the base. I don't have my frigate near my base planet. Medium Refiner glitch [Question]

In order to get a large refiner, it appears you must build a medium refiner first. I don't know if this is happening to anyone else but then the medium refiner becomes unusable. Anything I put In medium refiner disappears.

Am I stuck with an unusable tool, or is there some way to delete the medium refiner? The traditional way to to lead an unwanted I don't as everyone knows is pushing down on the right joystick. But that option isn't available for the refiner.

Running NMS VR on a potato? [Question]

My computer is pretty shit(its actually a laptop) but I still want to run it in vr somehow. Does anyone have any quick tips to make the game run, or am I forever stuck being a 2d guy?

I have a Ryzen 5 3550H, a GTX 1650, and 8 gigs of DDR4.

I'm not expecting 300 fps, Honestly I'd be perfectly fine with something as low as like 30. Right now my game runs at a spiffy 15 frames, which is pretty unplayable.

Also IDK if this is relevant but I'm using a Quest 2 with a knockoff oculus link cable.

If it's not possible, I totally understand.

Player losing progress while loading into multiplayer. [Question]

So me and a friend began this crazy journey of NMS together, and while the game isn't like Valheim and saves everything equally for both it's been crazy fun.

But last time we played he bought a hauler with like 40 slots and it had all drives and a shit ton of stuff on it. Now that we boot it up it's gone. Like the ship and all that was on it. Why does this happen? This is the second time he's lost progress because of the game not recognizing his saves or something like that. Why does this happen? Can we fix it and get the ship back? How can we prevent it? Because he's really losing motivation on this game thanks to this.

Is it possible to copy a savefile onto a new savegame slot? [Question]

What I want to do is start over a third time, creating a new save slot. So that I can collect a new fleet and build more bases.

But I don't want to go through all the tutorials again. Last time I did this for my second playthrough it took forever to unlock the basics again. Is it possible to copy one savefile onto the fresh savefile and replace it?

I have a ton of old backups from various stages. I'd like to use one of the old ones before I started building bases and make this the starting point of my third journey.

Is that possible at all? I have the savegame editor. So is it maybe possible to replace the JSON file or something?

Or if that's easier, how do I set every tutorial as complete? Unlocking all base building parts and glyphs is easy but I don't know if that messes up the game if I didn't actually do the base building tutorial... Locating individual questlines in the editor is a bit more complicated and confusing. So I gave up on that before....

If anybody knows how to do this, please let me know. Thank you!

Experiencing severe lag in the game [Question]

Hello,

Today I downloaded no man's sky. I had already played the game quite a bit previously, but it was different this time. As soon as my game loaded up I couldn't straight up play, having no more than 10 fps constantly.

I wanted to ask for some help on why this is happening, considering that I had no lag trouble at all when I previously played the game last year. My drivers are updated and graphics are on average, so I shouldn't have a problem.

I arrived in Eissentam , now what ? [Question]

I unexpectedly arrived in Eissentam, i thought to get there you needed to go to the center of the galaxy, i was just collecting Atlas seeds, when i finished it told me to go to a portal and when i went through i was in Eissentam (with my best ship, and a lot to fix)

It looks like i can use any portal to get back to Euclid, but then can i get back to Eissentam? do i need to set up a base there ? or can i just warp to any station i visited in Eissentam?

i found some info related to this in 9-12 month old reddit posts, but what is it like with the latest updates ?

Also the missions to go to the center of the galaxy and even the one to collect Atlas seeds are still there, do i have to do that in every Galaxy ? is there any point ?

Hey guys,

I was recently playing NMS, and i was pulsing around, like i usually do, and then a living ship pulls me out of pulse drive, and im like "hey, another upgrade for my living ship!" and but then it asks me if i want to accept a host. I press yes, it flies off, gives me coords, and now i have a living ship just chilling on a planet, and i dont have enough nanites to 'buy' it.

I was also checking the wiki, incase it was a glitch, seeing as i was recently contemplating another void egg at the nexus.

Jumping galaxies through the core: something changed or was it misinformation that you need at least one of the colored drives? [Discussion]

So I was under the impression that you needed to have one of the colored drives installed before you could jump through the core of a galaxy. A couple nights ago, I started a new save and found a traveller's grave almost right away, so got the first glyph. I decided right then to find a portal and jump tp Hilbert. Then I'd rinse and repeat until I got to at least Hesperius.

Anyway, I don't have anything but the regular hyperdrive installed in my starship and was able to jump through the core of Euclid, Hilbert, and Calypso without issue (I obviously had to charge the HD to full first though). Just arrived in Hesperius a couple minutes ago.

So is this conventional wisdom that you must have one of the colored drives installed completely bogus, or did it used to be true and has something changed recently? I've jumped through the cores of several galaxies before, but it was always with a ship that had the Indium drive installed, so I assumed everyone saying you needed a colored drive were correct.

Hope more building prefabs are on the minds of the content managers. It adds months of unique playtime. I'm at my end creatively with our current selection of buildings. [Discussion]

I love building outposts and dozens of multi layered bases in all types of biomes. I am a little exhausted of how limited I am with the current selection of prefabs. I rarely use the geometrical objects, some walls and half walls for sure but those are the only objects I can make work with prefabs. I think I've made every iteration that looks good to me for myself, and it doesn't make me want to explore to go do that anymore. I just hope another building renovation is coming with the advent of the freighter base update.

Don't get me wrong, I see lots of stuff out there that takes a lot of imagination and commitment to construct. I love it, I just wish there were more things to work with. Many other areas of the game have been updated tremendously and am thankful and optimistic about the treatment builders should be getting in the future. I can only remember the last building update being the prefabs update itself. Just hope it's on the minds of the developers.

Can we get asteroid bases? [Suggestion]

I just want to build a massive base inside a rock floating just outside the ring of an extreme fire planet. Empty my tritium tanks, process my di-hydrogen gel, and pop over to my frigate to send out the fleets.

Or maybe. Cuz we’re already in space.

Maybe I can control my fleets from my asteroid mining facility. Maybe I could start adding more frigates. Maybe use those frigates and fleets to fight off those things. Set up some multi dimensional bridge that allows me to have fleets in each universe, which I can summon in the event of, I dunno, wanting to attack atlas or whatever. Or some other reason to finally see fleets sending multi coloured lights at each-other.

Or just asteroid bases ok thank you!

A couple of the most interesting ships in a tier 3 economy gek system in the Eissentam galaxy.

Those have to be the widest and the longest ships i've seen.

The exotic is from the same system, i just went down to the closest planet (i waited 1 hour on the station and it didn't spawn, but spawned within 5 minutes on the planet)

Living ships? - jfc I'm getting farscape flashbacks. The clock reset trick didn't work so I'm.waiting 4 days for this damn quest. And reading a bit further you endn up getting a series of glyphs for the final part? I havnt even beat the main story yet?

Mounts? The hell did I miss? I couldn't figure out why people had bubbles with a rocket pack on them like some mr bubbles meets predator meets Boba fett thing.

I can't believe the differences that are in the game. Since when have there been giant dune-esque sand worms in the game? The goddamn thing was probably 3 times the width of my spaceship, and flipped me over, onky to see him go off into the distance.

And booiiiiiii if you saw my face when the first random ass anomaly showed up in flight. Not even the giant ass skulls, the weird ass other ones. One was a GIANT FUCKING BRAIN.

I FEEL LIKE A COMPLETE NOOB. But thats good. 10/10 will play again.

Just started playing, tried to rescue freighter, glitched, and died. [Bug]

Title says most of it, I just started playing and I heard rescuing freighters gives you access to one (no idea what that means but it sounds cool) so I rescued a freighter and tried to dock on it, but instead I get glitched inside the freighter and my ship blows up within 10 seconds. Why did this happen? Its very annoying because now 2 of my parts are broken and I didnt get the freighter I was owed. Any insight?

Expedition rewards Showing as incomplete on new pc [Question]

I got a new prebuilt pc instead of upgrading my old rig due to the state of the market. On this new pc, it shows my old expedition rewards as incomplete as if I didn't complete the expedition their a part of. I have completed 100% both beachhead and pioneers expedition. I went back on my old rig and the rewards are working as normal on there, so what gives? Will I need to have the old pc ready when I make a new save to claim the rewards? or is there some sort of workaround for this oversight.

Fixed the drop pod but didn't get any exosuit upgrade [Question]

I used the amplifier with drop pod data to find the pod and then went over there and fixed the three components (carbon nanotude, antimatter casing, and I forgot the third thing). A message popped up about exosuit but then I checked that I still have the same number of slots. What gives? Is this a bug?

How much of the game am I missing without Online Discovery Services? [Question]

I'm about 100 hours in now, still having a blast, but am just curious how much of the late/end game is lost to me because no matter what I do, I cannot connect to the Online Discovery Service? I know that at the very least I can't exchange my milestones for nanites, receive free derelict freighter passes, or participate in weekly missions, but is there anything else?

Just for clarification, not complaining or trying to troubleshoot this problem, I've done all I can to fix it at this point and am resigned to let it sort itself out eventually.

New player who just discovered their first black hole! Even better there was a freighter battle so now I can get my first "C class though..." freighter. Question though. [Question]

So out of curiosity, I declined the freighter and alt F4 the game to get to my last restore point, which was a station just before entering the black hole. I've done this 3 times now but each battle is the same type/model of freighter. I've seen some videos explaining you can save-skum like this to get a better freighter, was this patched? Is this C class the only one i'll see doing this method?

Heavy edge shimmering while using TAA [Question]

Hello everybody

The title sums it up quite well. I have no idea on why this is happening, but while standing still with TAA on the hard edges on many surfaces start shimmering like crazy. It's so bad that even FXAA looks better. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Problem with controls on computer [Question]

I cannot drop anything or disassemble tech. The default command is mouse with the middle button highlighted; I assume this is supposed to be a click, because rolling the middle button scrolls through menus, regardless, neither clicking, click-and-hold, nor rolling allow me to drop or disassemble anything. I went into the remapping, but only found two instances of the middle-button controls: one is labeled 'Delete' (=disassemble?) and the other I forget the name of. I can change the 'Delete' to another button, but it does not change the prompt or allow me to drop/disassemble. The other command I can't change; as soon as I enter a new key it registers on the screen and then resets to the middle mouse button.

My middle mouse button works - both clicking and scrolling - everywhere else, including Steam and my other Steam game. I don't see why NMS fails to recognize the click. If someone can tell me why, and better yet how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. Not being able to drop things is a great hinderance.

Can't dismiss first free frigate [Bug]

Hey guys! I got the first free frigate(combat) and found a better looking one with industrial stats.

I wanted to switch my main frigate base but I couldn't...

So I just dismissed the one I got for free and I can't still access the second one. When I spawn the freighter it spawns the free one which isn't in my "manage fleet" menu anymore.

If I try to delete the other one it says I can't delete entire fleet. Did I glitch the game and have to start over after 40 hours?

I love this game and figured out how to deal with annoying sentinels. [Discussion]

So, first off I got this game in Xbox Game pass and it took me a bit to figure things out but now I got it down this game is amazing and I'm barely in it with 12 hours in.

As for the other thing I made my first base in a nice area with tons is resources within 200ku's but I've always had this annoying sentinel floating around so I had to be careful with mining things and would often catch it's attention.

So last night I was working hard trying to find materials to fix this B-class Hauler (The reflection of Jeopardy is its name) I found in another system and it kept following me around because I was obviously pissing it off, so I hatched an idea that I figured wouldn't work but I was curious anyways. There was a small cave not too far from it's stomping ground so I plotted a course that would allow me to "catch" it's attention and follow me. So it took me a minute but I got it to follow me inside the cave and even picked up some relics. When we were all the way in the back of the cave I got it's attention one more time then booked it to the entrance and sealed it with the terrain manipulator. I half expected it to clip through the ground and got back to it's mission but I didn't see that damned thing the rest of my session. Now we'll see if it's there when I spawn back in the game but I thought I was so clever in getting rid of the annoyance while trying to restructure my base.

Also, quick question somehow I pissed the vendors off in my local space station (conservation ends with them saying they want nothing to do with me) they talked to me before but now nothing. I have no clue what I did but now I have to go to a different system in order to look at ship and exosuit upgrades. Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this? I have done missions with the mission specialist in that area and seem to be well regarded at other areas in the...

Freighter issues [Bug]

So I just got the game not long ago, heard I could get a free freighter so I jumped 5 times like it said, saved the freighter from pirates and was invited aboard. Went up to the bridge as prompted and then discovered the bridge to be empty, no captain no anyone.

I play offline and have never connected it to the internet so if it’s just something they have a patch for that’s fine but I’d like to know. Other freighters work fine, it’s just the one it tries to give me for free

Permadeath achievement completed: what's next? [Discussion]

After 3 attempts, I finally reached the center of galaxy in Permadeath mode : i completed Artemis quest line.

With all achievements completed, what else could I focus on? I am now looking to get a void egg. But other then that, I lack ideas what to do. My freighter is getting stronger (I can reach red star at this moment), I have a farm with all existing plants, a gold mine pumping tons of gold and a decent spaceship fully upgraded.

Playing permadeath, I can loose all this with any bugs, but while I am playing, I would like ideas of next tough challenges.

Can't Delete Items Using Playstation Pad on PC [Question]

I've recently just swapped to using a PS4 pad in NMS. Everything was working fine until it came to been able to delete/modify/access wiring using the L2 button. L2 works fine for everything else it is mapped too (mainly the visor) but nothing happens when in the building menu.

Hi there, just started playing and some of my friends will get the game soon and I have a couple of questions related to the multiplayer aspect of the game ?

Sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native speaker. Can we both start and progress at the same time ? What I mean by that is if I for example have to leave and my friend keeps playing will I be able to continue with him ? Can we both be on the same planet, but on different parts of it, with different bases built ? Hey guys so what i understand from other old post i searched it says that things that you have build on the old freighter will disappear once you buy a new freighter. But i recently bought a new freighter and every fleet command room i built have been transferred to my new freighter, and also stuffs like the teleporter and refiner i left at my old freighter have been transferred. Is this something new? or it has always been like this.

For a game I don't actually play much, NMS has captured my imagination since 2014 [Discussion]

It's the weirdest thing, but I think I love NMS more for what it represents in the medium of video games (and sci-fi generally) than for any particular moment-to-moment vertical slice of gameplay.

To me it represents freedom, childlike imagination, and a creative spirit that unites both "explorers" and "tinkerers" alike.

Yet for the life of me, I can't say I've really scratched the surface of what can be done or seen in the game.

The game sinks its claws in when I least expect it; those ephemeral moments that can't be recreated at will. Like watching a sunset when the scenery is just right. Or accepting my inevitable demise in permadeath as my life support systems run dry on a hostile planet. Or having an unusual happenstance encounter with another explorer, never to cross paths again.

It's these impossible-to-plan moments that suck me back in to that realm of pure sci-fi imagination.

Everything in between those moments is often more like busywork, and I tend to bounce off the game quite often because I'm not patient enough to engage its systems in a way that would negate the busywork. But when I just take my time and tick off tasks bit by bit, session by session, the game goes and wows me with something entirely incidental or lucky or wacky... or even downright existential.

Which is a lot like life itself, right? Lots of busywork that's made worthwhile by the promise of some spectacular, unforgettable moment at the crest of the next hill. So we keep pushing that boulder like sisypheus, holding on for the promise of what NMS can be in its moments of transcendent imagination. The kind that can only exist within the artfully designed parameters of such a unique proc-gened universe.

So here's to the next 5 years of me not playing NMS very much, yet being completely riveted by what it's sci-fi sandbox...

Getting a certain crashed living ship [Question]

So I'm not getting much help on the Facebook page with this question so I figured I would drop it here some of y'all would know. I know you have to have the active starbirth mission with a void egg but how do you go about getting a particular living ship like the ones people post on the coordinate exchange page of crashed living ships with Planet coordinates? It's been a while since I've done the starbirth mission to get my first living ship but I thought it took you to a particular planet not that you could pick and choose?

The only major thing this game is missing, is Cross-Progression. [Suggestion]

Over the last 5 years, Hello Games have added pretty much everything you would need to make playing the game great. Cross-platform Multiplayer & Discoveries, the Nexus, Voice chat, Next-Gen upgrades, Visual revamp...

But ONE last thing needs to be added, and it is probably one of the most important features the game NEEDS: Cross-Progression.

Being able to login to a NMS or Hello Games account, having your save uploaded on the servers, and being able to pickup that exact save one every platform.Games like Rocket League, Fortnite & Call of Duty do exactly that for their online progress.

It wouldn't be as big of a deal if the game weren't centered around spending 1000s of hours exploring, making huge bases & farms, grinding quicksilvers events & missions for weeks on end, uploading your discoveries...

As of now, you are stuck playing on THAT ONE PLATFORM you put time into at first.I, like many, have started on PS4. I now want to move to PC, but I have put so much work into my save, spending weeks planning & building bases & farms, upgrading my ship, tool & exosuit, discovering things, learning words, etc... that switching is out of the picture. I'm basically stuck on PS4/PS5.

Also, think about the new Expeditions. Your rewards are stuck to the single platform you completed it on. You can't transfer them to your PC or Xbox accounts, even though you completed them, and since you cannot retro-actively complete them, it's a shame not being able to.

I obviously know Hello Games have done a lot for us in the past 5 years, and by no means is this suggestion necessary. It just is something that I know would be absolutely HUGE for EVERYONE in the community.

Happy almost-5 years of No Man's Sky, & thank you Hello Games for all the hard work you put into the game, we all appreciate it!

Anomalous signal blocking warp [Question]

I've been playing for over 1200 hours on a save, I decided to use the save editor to start a new one, I just want to build, no crap quests, but every system I'm trying to warp to I get that message (title)

Is there a way to get rid of that or do I absolutely have to go through the quests, some element I'm missing?

I even tried to (with the save editor) go in another galaxy but it's all the same the anomalous signal is blocking warp to ALL systems.

Can anyone explain what happened? [Question]

So I tried my first multiplayer experience with a friend last Saturday. He was on PS4 and I'm on PC. We built a base together on a planet he discovered (His base computer).

On a different day, I was playing by myself and that particular base wasn't on my warp list anymore, so I decided to fly there. When I got to the same coordinates, the base wasn't there, and even the terrain was different. When I was playing with my friend the place was nowhere near water, and when I played solo it was right next to one. I'm really confused about this. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks in advance!

Returning player need help cooking [Discussion]

I used to use scented herbs/fermented fruit etc to farm animal products but they seem to be missing from the game? Wiki says to use glass grains or heptaploid wheat and faecium to make it but that just gives me pellets. Everything gives me pellets...am I missing something?

PS4 - stuttering look speed [Bug]

Turned NMS on for the first time in several months and started a new character. Looking around immediately felt odd. When I move my joystick left it's totally smooth, when I move it right the look speed continually changes. It slows down and speeds up randomly. It does this with multiple controllers. It feels terrible and ruins the game for me. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

I cannot get this game to play well in vr even with low graphics... rtx 3070 and i7 10700k [Question]

Have tried everything. Using a quest 2 and running through steam vr. Have tried with the settings low.. everytime I move my head there is huge lag. Textures look crazy bad and the animations are even worse.

With my rig I should be able to run this game on ultra? What seems to be the problem?

P.s - tried airlink and virtual desktop. Vd is better but still not giving me the experience I desire.

NMS, StreamVR won't allow me to change controller bindings? [Bug]

When I go into Manage Controller Configs on SteamVR and select NMS from the dropdown, there is a "Default" and "Custom" toggle. I press custom and nothing happens. Weird thing is that through other menus I was able to select a steam binding for the game but I can't enable it because of this.

Mainly just wanted to bind "steer" to a joystick for flight controls.

Is there a fix for this? Using g2.

I travelled to someones base from anomaly portal. I couldn't see the base or the person, but they started firing. I got back to my ship and flew away. They shot me to death. Respawned in station and went back, because I thought is was a bug or something. Killed again. How and why and what to do?

Question about building a base [Question]

Hi everyone,

I spent a lot of time wandering around systems, completing main quests and now, I want to set my first big base. I am farming technology modules to discover everything I can't build right now so I can be free to build anything I want.

But I had a few questions I couldn't find an answer to by watching random base building videos on youtube. Can we build a real base on the freighter, where I can grow thing, craft, transform, store,... all my stuff ? If the freighter is an option for a base, is it "better" than a planete base, since I can call it everytime I need it ? If there a limit for the size of the base ? If there a better way than the ladder, and without enery cost, to navigate between different floors ? With the big prebuilt blocs, where am I supposed to place my storage units ?

When its comes to S class ships, I'm reading that T3 systems have a 2% higher chance of an S Class ship spawning and that Exotics are a category of ship that is always an S class.

My Question is, if there is a higher chance of an exotic spawning in T3 systems purely because it is an S Class or will the 2% bonus only apply to spawning S Class ships of that systems selection of non-exotics?

[Suggestion] New derelict freighters [Suggestion]

You know that would be really cool? Derelict freighters underwater! With not just horizontal levels but vertical ones too! In infested ones you wouldnt have these critters, but for example octopus like lifeforms that would try to kill you or ink you in the face so your visibility would be super limited for a few minutes. And instead of green jellies you would have aggressive fish that would attack you.

Would anyone be down for that?

The purge! [Question]

Spoilers ahead, so please, bear that in mind.

I'm currently following The Purge mission, - Reset simulation - going from galaxy to galaxy to collect the glyphs.

Everything that I've read online tells me that once I reset the galaxy, all my tech will be damaged and I pick what galaxy type I want to play in.

What about everything else? Do I get to keep my items, ship, freighter, base, exocrafts, upgrades, discoveries?

I can't find it online anywhere, so I thought I'd ask here instead.

I’m a bit bored so I’m deciding to take in a project of making a massive amount of farms in a small collection of Euclid solar systems, but what farms should I add? Cannot choose save file when joining friends games [Bug]

When I try to join a friend's game, whether on Xbox or cross platform, it doesn't allow me to choose my save file. I'm on survival and so are my friends. All online settings enabled. It just starts a fresh game everytime and I can't get it to let me pick my save. Anyone know about this and have a fix? Unfortunately, when my one of my friends tries to teleport to my base, which is uploaded, it wont let him. My base shows up for him but won't let him teleport there, so we can't even join up like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finding a portal (help) [Question]

Hey all, I have a question about finding portals. I'm doing the live ship questline and need to find one to complete the quest.

Google searches have told me that I need to buy an alien structure map, then head there, activate the monolith and answer the question correctly, then get pointed to a portal.

I've tried this, but the structure asks, me if I want dialect help or info about the past. I then get sent to a dig site.

Has something changed? What can I do to find a portal with the new updates?

Distant from generators and extractors [Question]

So I'm on this weird planet in a uncharted solar system and I'm trying to connect the electromagnetic generator to my mineral extractor at a cadmium site. Taking a look at this again, I'm guessing that you can turn off commercial monitoring - selling things at the station wouldn't crash the local economy or change it in any way.

Flight path management could be compromised, causing freighters to crash in system as an alternate method of generating derelicts.

Life support systems? Perhaps this is a way of reactivating the station core in abandoned systems and revitalizing their economies.

Became a billionaire real fast [Suggestion]

Hi,

This is my second playthrough. I am 127 hours in and have reached the 4.3 billion units limit.

I focused only on making money as I played a lot of the game in my first playthrough

I have 4 Activated Indium mines, 3 Activated Emeril Mines, 2 Activated Cadmium Mines, 4 Emeril Mines, 2 Copper Mines, 2 Cobalt Mines, 1 Gold Mine, 1 Salt Mine and 2 Gravitino Ball farms

On top of this I kept checking into other player mines collecting resources.

This is how I made credits fast

Initially I got my terrain manipulator installed. Then I went searching for buried salvage modules on planets.

I collected enough to unlock medium refiner, mineral extractor, storage, solar power and battery

Once I got a base up and running. I put a medium refiner and started expansion of Chlorine and Oxygen into more Chlorine. It gave me enough units to buy a hauler with good cargo space

Then I went on a spree creating mines.

Once a few mines were setup, I went hopping on to other player mines collecting resources.

I kept collecting resources from my mines and other player mines and kept making more mines of my own

Out of the 127 hours, it took me 90 hours to get to 900 million credits. I reached 4.3 billion in the next 37 hours because I have so many mines now (mine and other player bases) that it's crazy

I'm now exploring star systems looking for good looking ships and freighters

Btw I still haven't spoken to Nada about Artemis 🙂

So I downloaded the game with xbox games pass on my PC & even with my ancient gtx 970 it runs so much better and no crashes with 7 hours non stop gameplay but I was wondering if anyone knows if the microsoft games pass installation saves your progress locally or just in the cloud? Im fairly new to the game, i did my first playthru of the artemis storyline a few months ago but didnt go too far with it. i think i restarted the cycle a bit too early and stopped when my only option in the story was to either travel thru black holes or seek out atlas stations.

if theres no clear benefit or reason to reach the center of the galaxy i might just say fuck the story and explore freely and do what i want i guess

Help identifying strange planet [Question]

Warning, some story quest spoilers ahead.

I have owned this game 4 years and finally finished the main story 2 days ago. Right after I reset the Atlas at the final interface, I was warped to a planet. I was only here 16 seconds but it was a planet unlike anything I had ever seen before. The planet had tons of spheres that looked like hollow soccer balls. It was similar to a calcified planet in ways but still very different. None of my searches have come up with anything. It was truly magnificent and I would just love to know what I saw and if I could see it again. I was, of course, too awestruck to take a picture. I will post a picture in the comments of what the shapes looked like.

Rare Animal and Planet concept [Suggestion]

Now that diplo's are not very rare, I think something else should replace them

My idea is a special color combination that can be found on any animal, and is like a 1/500 chance

This color wouldn't be able to be made in the gene sequencer

Maybe this color thing could also apply to planets, so finding one of these rare planets with a rare matching fauna would be the ultimate find

If you make a rare variant of everything in the game, like water, plants, and sky, a perfect planet would become a mega community search and if one to be ever found, it would be so cool to visit it.

Can’t Use Controller on PC, Google Suggested Solutions Did Not Work, Please Help [Question]

I started a new game and turned on my controller (Xbox 360 wireless) but the game did not recognize it. I went into the controls menu but nothing I did would get the game to recognize it.

I googled the problem and tried the various suggested solutions (unplug, shut down, reboot, plug in; fiddled with the Steam controller settings; I even tried my wired Switch controller just for giggles) but none of them worked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

NOTE: I am not opposed to using a keyboard i just want to try and play with the controller for a bit.

Travel very far for a mission [Question]

I am up to the part where I need to hire a vy'keen worker for my weapons terminal. However, the place that galaxy that they want me to travel is very far from where I currently am. I am not at a stage in the game where I can warp far so I can only travel from one galaxy to another very short. If I were to go to where they want I would have to create about 15 warp cells. I was wondering if this was normal? Is there any other way to complete this mission? And if not, is there a way to warp far distances at my stage in the game?

Missing Minotaur mods [Question]

I finally got around to exocraft and bought all the mod blueprints at once. Once I constructed the Minotaur I got a secondary mission to install a megawatt heater. Only problem is none of the hazard mods I got appear for install. I had to go back and check to make sure I bought them. Am I missing something???

Please tell me im not the only one that noticed this base building mechanic [Question]

So I know all about stacking extractors and building inside pre-existing structures and such stuff that Ive learned playing about 18 hours a day for the week,, but is it really a mechanic where if you build something outside your base perimeter (Via standing on the edge and looking outward to place something that you couldn't if you were standing over where you want it) it extends your base perimeter? I don't know if I'm missing something but I am currently setting up an oxygen farm for Mordite and Faecieum Duping and did the above mentioned method of placing an electromagnetic generator outside of the perimeter of the build zone, and I came back about 30 minutes later to figure out how I could stack generators, only to find out now all of a sudden I could swim out to my generator and still build stuff on it, even being able to go to the maximum generation zone of the hotspot (which I couldn't reach with my method before) and I can build just fine.

Is this because of me building the way I did, or does the perimeter expand as you place more components or something?

TL;DR: Stood on base perimeter and looked outward to build power generator in a hotspot that wasn't within the base perimeter, found that base perimeter expanded, mechanic or am I too tired to think straight?

How unlikely is it we end up getting more Explorer ship variety? [Discussion]

Explorers are easily my favorite type of ship, but compared to shuttles, haulers and fighters, it feels like we easily see the least part/body variety’s in explorers, at least in body variety.

PC Xbox game pass save. Move to new PC? [Question]

Hey guys,

I currently have Xbox game pass ultimate for PC and have played a ton of NMS.

Now I'm setting up my new laptop and am wondering how I can get my NMS save from my old PC onto the new laptop!

Since there's no "sync" with NMS servers for progress and the Xbox game pass install folder is super secretly hidden.... I'm not sure how to do this.... Or if it's even possible?

Change galaxy via Atlas... a second time? Is it possible? [Question]

Hi, i already completed the Atlas path the first time, and choosed a green galaxy (Eissentam).

Now when i try to use the Atlas interface again to visit a different galaxy type, it just keep asking me to build a Heart of the Sun, then gives me directions to a black hole.

I tried restarting the Atlas mission in Euclid and Eissentam, same result.

Is there any way to use the Atlas interface a second time? Or now i can only visit galaxies in order by reaching the centre?

Base extension not working anymore [Question]

Hi, I have an annoying problem with my base. I extended the range with batteries, so that I can reach both a power hotspot and a mining spot. But now the game seems to have forgotten that. I can't build outside the normal radius anymore, even though there are already build structures outside it that are still working. Also, extending it again doesn't work anymore.

Any tips/fixes? I already tried reloading. Thanks in advance.

We need Gas Giants update [Suggestion]

We love our universe, we love the space, the planets, and we love No Man's Sky because of that.

We love the beauty of it, the beauty of exploration, the unknown.

Gas Giants are a big part of us, the space lovers, because it's a type of planet that it's on our Solar System; they are beautiful, they are pure art, they are unknown.

We know No Man's Sky is currently based on landing on planets. But we had BUGs before where you couldn't land on a water planet and made a feeling of a Gas Giant, and people loved it. Of course if you get inside of it you would see nothing because it was just a BUG.

It would be so cool if you could get a close lookup of the swirly patterns on a Gas Giant.

That would be so cool we couldn't imagine-

And if you get too close, or too much inside of the planet it will start to become dangerous.

If you could get inside even just a little our mind would be blown away.

Even if that's too much work, they could add it as decoration, they are really beautiful, and if you can see one standing from another planet, oh wow that would be soo beautiful, and that would be enough for us!

And if that's not too much work they could also add usage for them, like using the gas they could have, but that's up to the developers what they could do and what's the best for the game.

We really need Gas Giants, the game is beautiful, and that would make it even more beautiful and cool !

So I was replaying my old Ratchet and Clank games and coming back to No Man's Sky that uses the same button to switch multitool gadgets and weapons I realized that a radial menu could be a really nice quality of life feature for the No Man's Sky Gameplay

Taking base building to another level. [Suggestion]

I play on ps4 so miss out on the pc mods and tricks etc, but just about every base I build I wish that I had the opportunity to add enclosed sloping corridors or enclosed stairs. Oh and an enclosed way to join the under water section of a base to above water section without areas flooding.

Can't select a main starship [Information]

Hi everyone, first post here.

I am currently at a station in no man's sky and buying ships to scrap them for nanites.

I own 3 ships, let's call them 1, 2 and 3. Original, I know.

The only problem is when I get to a station, I'm in ship 1 but as soon as I buy and scrap a new ship, my ship 2 joins me at the station and becomes my main ship.

Meanwhile, my ship 1 is still at the station too.

So my question is, what do I need to do to make my ship 1 permanently the main one?

I don't know if it's clear enough, I can try to explain better if need be.

I’m so sorry I doubted this game [Discussion]

While I played a little on release, I didn’t think too much of it. On my second play through on PC, (this was after everyone was praising the devs for revitalizing the game) I still wasn’t very impressed. My third and current time in however has been different. I think The game is fantastic. I’m not sure if the game changed drastically or I did. I think with age I’m starting to appreciate a more casual, laid back experience and this is certainly a game for said experience.

Some simple suggestions! [Suggestion]

Some very simple changes that would improve the long term game play significantly: Allow players to upgrade their freighters in the same way they can with ships - but make the cost 5-10 times higher at each level e.g. maybe 250,000 nanites for class A to S. Allow players to increase freighter storage space for units, again 5-10 times higher - e.g. maybe 2,000,000,000 for that last slot. Allow players to buy Freighter upgrades from space stations, again at 5-10 times the cost - e.g. maybe 6000 nanites for a class S module. Allow players the option to change the colours of their frigates along with their freighter when they unlock colours etc. Allow players to change the colour of their ships in the same way they can change colours of freighters - could cost same amount of nanites to unlock each colour.

After over 600 hours of game play I had still not found a class S freighter or any S Class freighter modules, and it took me ages to get matching ships and frigates in the right colours - at about 800 hours in I have finally achieved this. These changes would stop people resorting to hundreds of reloads when they find a freighter they like and give them a good money/nanite sink for all of that loot towards the end game. The existing mechanics of getting upgrades from derelicts and getting lucky with an S class freighter could continue as an alternative path... Thoughts?

I think we all have our own opinions about the term "Live Service", and most people would say that that term carries some very negative connotations due to how the genre, if that's the right word, is misused for excessive monetization and things like that. "No connection to matchmaking servers" [Question]

Me and my friends are having a hell of a time trying to join each other's groups. It will say they joined, show them in my group; but we're standing in the same base and can't see each other. Then my friend will leave the group and try to rejoin, only to get "no connection to matchmaking servers". Once we finally joined properly, jumped to another Galaxy, and were no longer in the same game instances all the sudden. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a bug?

PS4 messed up and hasn't saved my data to the cloud. Can I get my quicksilver items back? [Question]

So, a couple of days ago my PS4 wouldn't start so I booted it into safe mode and spent yesterday doing every option on there until my only one left was to completely wipe the whole thing.

Reconciling ship hunters and people who just want to recolor or modify the ship they already have [Suggestion]

It's a recurring pattern: someone asks for the ability to change the color of their ship, and/or buy and add different parts to it, and they get a bunch of angry replies and downvotes from other people whose favorite in-game activity is hunting down unique, cool-looking ships. (Allegedly, a ship-recoloring feature has actually been languishing within the game's code, unactivated, for several releases now, perhaps because of these conflicting interests.)

I'd like to propose a solution that I think would preserve and even enhance the value of ship-hunting, while still allowing those who are already basically happy with their current ship and just want it to be a different color to be able to get what they want, too.

  1. Add a prominent visual indicator that shows you whether any player ship you're looking at is in "mint" (original) condition, or has been recolored/modified by its owner. That would preserve the cachet of finding an already great-looking ship in the wild.

  2. Track the "discoverer" of each ship model—i.e., the first player who ever owned one—in the same way that the game already does for everything else from solar systems to animals to individual kinds of rocks, and display that information prominently where others can see it too. You were the person who first discovered that great-looking fighter or exotic that hundreds of people went out and got for themselves after you posted it on the coordinate exchange? Then hundreds of people will see you credited for that discovery, and ideally anyone else who checks out their ship in the Anomaly will see it too.

I realize the discovery data needed to implement item 2 might not exist for already-discovered ships, since the game hasn't ever needed to track that information in the past, but defaulting the "discoverer" credit to the player who...

Mega fauna [Question]

I was in some random world identifying all the fauna and Amiga fauna worn leaped out of the ground behind me, arched over me and disappeared into the ground a ways in front of me. I have always considered these as decoration, but when I looked at it through the scanner it had a red dot. I couldn't get a scan in it fast enough and when it emerged again in the distance I liked again and confirmed it had a red dot. My question is how involved are these mega fauna? Can you scan them? Can you kill them? Can or will they kill you? Any way to find them?

What do I do next? [Question]

I fully upgraded my character slots and got S-tier upgrades for the technologies I care about. I found my favorite exotic starship and maxed out its slots and S-tier upgrades. I have an activated Indium farm that nets me 150-200 million credits a day for 5 minutes of effort. I have completed the main story and upgraded my multitool as far as I'm interested in doing.

I could try to find a freighter with more inventory but I really have no need for another 20 slots with everything else maxed out, the 10 storage units built and my exocraft.

I could expand my fleet but I have no need of the money or most of the resources they bring back, and expeditions aren't exactly an interactive process that will keep me engaged with the game.

I could break into farming and crafting valuable resources, but the time spent isn't really worth it what with the profits I'm already making on Indium.

I'm not sure what else to spend my time on.

TL;DR: My goal in this game has always been to find my favorite ship, get all the upgrades and become rich. I've pretty much done that, what's next?

No man's sky is on sale on PS4 right now, but I was wondering how well does the game play? The ps4 apparently can't run most survival/exploration games (Rust, Stranded deep, subnautica, the forest) so when I look at a game like No Man's sky I can't help but think its going to be the same, if not worse.

Out dated information about specialist. [Question]

Started a new game since I haven't play the game for a long time. Talking to the specialist at stations and Outpost have been annoying since I cant hire them.

Been looking it up about how to get them. All I have been seeing is to get the circle room in order to start the quest to hire them. I noticed I cant get that room so I assume it's in the improved space anomaly.

Well I get there and grab the room, but I also got the exocraft bays. I wasnt sure if those bays would give me the exocraft but I grab a few anyway. I built the room but I haven't seen any quest update to hire the specialist. I haven't made the exocrafts as I'm about to head to work.

I just want to hire the specialist so I dont need to accidentally run in to them anymore. All iv been finding is the outdated information. Right now I'm assuming that Apollo will help me get to the right direction as I just got to his part of the game I hope.

How to use Switch? [Question]

I built a base underwater, and was gonna power it with a generator and battery, with a switch to break the circuit. But it appears the generator just powers the room it is located in, without any wires connected, and the room in turn powers everything else in it, completely bypassing my switch. Am I missing something?

[Help] I don't think my game has updated to prisms? [Question]

Long story short, since the prisms update dropped I've been casually into the game since the videos/content creators are geeked again.

I don't see the Synthesis Lab, or DLSS settings in my game despite having a 2070 in my system. Im still a relatively new player so I can't tell if the game has always looked this way, or if I'm just missing something.

I'm on the Xbox app w/ Gamepass on Windows 10.

My ship reverted back to the way it was when I purchased it. Lost all upgrades, inventory slots (along with my inventory), and name! [Bug]

I was scrapping exotic ships at a space station to collect nanintes and inventory augmentations. When suddenly I noticed my ship name had changed, and my inventory space was back to how I found it. I tried to reload the auto save and it stayed the same. I got in the ship a warped...still the same. No matter what I do it won’t change back. I warped back to my base and reloaded and still the same.

I luckily have a manual save and when I load that it reverts the ship back but I made the save before I started scrapping. Is there no way to get my ship back to normal? Do I have to lose out on the last few hours of scrapping to get my damn ship back?

I tried looking to see if this has happened to anyone else on here and I can’t find another case of it. It’s super frustrating I’m so mad. Any suggestions? I heard someone say to manual save and reload but I’m scared that it will overwrite my one good save and I’ll be stuck with the crappy ship again.

Nexus lost progress [Question]

I started a very long mission of the nexus, in the meantime, however, I bought a new ship, I moved all the items, I made many upgrades and more... after spending several hours in this planetary system I got off the spaceship and I read that progress had been saved. I know that in the lobby it is specified that the mission must be carried out in a single session but at that moment I did not think about it and after receiving the notice of the saved progress I closed the game (also in this case the game warned me that the game had been saved a few seconds earlier).

Obviously when I got back I had lost everything.

Why isn't there a more explicit warning, alerting users when they try to quit the game and not making them believe progress has been saved when exiting the spaceship?

PS5 Trophies Still Bugged [Bug]

I submitted a bug report directly to Hello Games as well as making a comment on the bug report mega-thread, but felt like making my own post as well hoping to get even more recognition.

I’ve maxed out several milestones on the PS5 version of No Man’s Sky and a lot of trophies have failed to pop. Is there a fix or will there be a fix? I see this has been an issue for months, and months.

Question about playing on PS5 [Question]

Is it possible to play the same save on VR and switch to flat on the PS5 update?

Sorry if this is common knowledge. The upgrade is confusing and my understanding is that you can only play VR on the PS4 version.

Where did these trophies come from? [Discussion]

I went into my Steam client to see what trophies/achievements/whatever I still had to earn. Lo and behold, there weren’t any! Except…I’m fairly certain I didn’t get to the center of the galaxy in Survival mode or Permadeath mode. There are probably others I somehow got without earning them.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any idea what happened?

Friend's B class ship turned into B class living ship [Question]

I was finishing the void egg mission and I found the living ship that I traded all my mission parts with on the last step of the mission. My friend was with me when I claimed the living ship. For some reason, there was another living ship and it said it belonged to my friend. He never claimed it before. What's even weirder is that his old B class ship is gone now and his new living ship is a B class. He's not mad about the situation, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Can't summon newly hatched companion? [Question]

I just hatched a new companion and it seems to be invisible. I see its name in my companion register but there's nothing where the model should be. When I summon it I see its name briefly and hear it make noises, but I can't interact with it. I tried quitting and relaunching the game, and verifying files.. no luck. Has anyone else had this happen?

Galaxy warping [Screenshot]

So am I tripping or is the sentinels attacking you once you spawn on a planet in a new galaxy thing a new feature? Cause I swear I looked up from letting the whole new galaxy scene play out and it suprised me. I got away luckily but still 💀. Thing is I don't remember it being like that before. Last galaxy I warped to was Sivarates and I took a break from galaxy warping I think a week or so after the last expedition.

Ideas to Improve End-game Play [Suggestion]

After having gone through all the hoops to get spat out the other end of the galactic core, black holes enabled, for the first time since... whatever major patch came out 3 years ago... I find myself feeling liberated from the grind of all the story missions, unlocking the slots for my capital ship, etc. and now get to explore a pretty new galaxy less pestered by hazards and severe weather. Great! However, it is kind of odd that all the NPCs act as if nothing has happened and all other game systems work as they always have.

I'd love to see some more thought go into NMS "post-rebirth", if you catch my drift. As a player, what drives me to keep going on at this point?

Cooler ships: How about new styles and classes of ships that only start appearing post-galactic reset? Things that only the cool kids get to have, and can go flaunt at their local Nexus. Maybe you get something akin to the appearance modifier, but for ships, that gives you access to tweaking color schemes or maybe even the "modules" themselves. New capital ships even. Or, at minimum, increase the rate at which S-Class exotics appear. At this point, we've probably found what we want from our prior iteration and really want to push that nth degree to perfection.

Sentinel disruptor: How about a new story line that unlocks the ability to build a "sentinel disruptor" device, usable on a single planet to completely eradicate all sentinels for good. Again, at this point in the game we've probably found a mostly great planet and really want to up our game and nab that nearly perfect one... that sentinels are camping.

Get into the Matrix: So, now we're super badass and understand the true nature of the universe (hint: it runs on Windows OS)... we should be able to tug at strings, alter dynamics, glitch things out right? We are architects, amirite? Haven't thought this one through completely, but things like...

PS4 - Anyone else's camera feel "sticky"? [Question]

Booted up NMS for the first time in 4 months or so and immediately noticed the camera felt awful when I move my stick to the right. The look speed changes. It will be very slow then suddenly speed up, then be slow again in places. All while holding the stick all the way right.

Completely ruins the game because it's literally hard to turn right while moving it often goes so slow. I restarted the game and loaded different characters, same issue.

Has anyone run into this recently?

HELP: Portal not allowing me to input glyphs [Question]

Hi,

I'm trying to teleport to different places to hunt down some exotics. However, all the portals I've found and activated don't let me input glyphs. They automatically just take me to the Atlas to reset the universe.

NOTE:I don't have the Purge or the Spacer Anomaly missions pinned.I also have unlocked all 16 glyphs already

Help with "The First Traveller" [Question]

Hello, I am currently trying to complete the -null- quest which requires me to locate a crashed freighter. The approximate location marker shows up while I am in my ship, however when I land I am unable to do a target sweep and the marker disappears, making me unable to do the objective. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Adding starship slots [Discussion]

Found a cheap way to add slots to my ship and wondered if anyone else has other ways to add slots. Currently a slot runs me 60 million. I bought an exotic for $10mil and immediately scrapped it for 7mil. The leftovers included two ship slots and a couple of type S upgrades. Not bad for 3mil. What are other means to expand your slots?

Anyone else having trouble expanding base reach? [Question]

So I’m in the process of putting in an Activated Indium farm. It’s a bit spread out, power is about 800 away from the mine. So I put the computer smack dab in the middle.

Extending one way runs into trouble when I realize there is a massive height difference, but I manage anyway - by building a platform and then stairs down until I get to the far ground. Then another segment to the actual mining site, where I also build the base (teleporter, etc.).

Ditto on the other side to where I add the electromagnetic stuff. No worries about cabling, though it’s a pain given the very frequent storms.

I get the first set of extractors to working, then add a second set on top. Also add more power. Again, working at both extremes. No issues with adding base parts.

Already cranking out a bit of Indium, figure I go sell it, do a bit of a trip to find a good location, sell the bunch.

Come back to my base, try to continue, no dice. Won’t let me add base parts. No floors, stairs, whatever - all blocked.

Go up to my computer, save the base. Saves fine. Try to add stuff in that area, no problem. Go back to the endpoints - problem. No adding stuff.

Ok, maybe it lost its way somehow, so I retrace, add pieces along the way - and then all of a sudden I can’t anymore. Just added an item, right next to where I already had one - and when I get there (actually even slightly before), can’t add anymore.

I’m at a loss. I’m going to try to expand again, this time not following the existing locations, to see if that will work.

But this is disconcerting. 400 radius either side isn’t normally an issue. And I’ve never had it stop me from adding stuff. I can delete, but it won’t add - which negates adding the third tier of extractors etc.

"Pulse drive unavailable: Atlas interference detected" (?) [Question]

First time I've ever seen this message after playing for hundreds of hours… Anybody know what it means?

Context: I was pulsing through a system with no Atlas station in it, far from freighters, space station, Anomaly, small-'a' anomalies, asteroids, anything, heading toward the still-distant marker for a Nexus pirate mission, and my ship just stopped abruptly and the game popped up that message. Tried to use the pulse drive several times, got the same result and the same message. Confirmed that my pulse engine had plenty of fuel but was simply refusing to switch on. So I just slow-drived forward through this completely empty stretch of space for 30-40 seconds, and then the pulse engine started working again.

Not terribly important, I still got to fight my pirates and get my quicksilver, but I'm just really curious what the hell that was.

Maintenance cost [Suggestion]

Perhaps an easy way to fix the "I have so shedloads of units and nothing to spend it on really" state in advanced game would be if HG introduced a maintenance cost for all things you have and run. You have a big S-class freighter with tons of stuff? Fine, it will cost you 1 million per hour or day or whatever to run it. Have a base with 12 biodomes churning out stuff for stasis devices? Upkeep will cost you 5 million per harvest per biodome. Etc.

I have over 3 billion units and nowadays rarely bother to make and stasis devices or visit my AI mining base.

Star birth [Bug]

Yea so I was playing and than one of my friends gave me a good egg so I went into pulse drive and than got the mission but my mistake is I started it in with another person so I did the first quest but now. I can’t get the next even tho it says wait for contact but i have got non I even pulse drive fo 20 minutes I never got called does anyone know a way to fix it.

Keep intermittently getting this graphical bug that requires restart [Bug]

Hey guys, my colors keep getting all buggy like in the attached screenshot, but it only happens sometimes, and when it does, I need to restart my game. Which is obnoxious given how long this game can take to boot. Anyone else experiencing this? Any idea how to fix permanently? Thanks.

Atlas Path Post-reset? [Question]

I triggered the "final countdown" the other day and decided to bang out the Atlas Path real quick on my way to the galaxy core. After doing the jumps and visiting the interfaces, I unlocked the widgets, rebooted the universe, and picked a new galaxy. After that, I made the "rememberance" and star seed upgrades to my suit and proceeded to hop back to my base in Euclid.

After screwing around a bit today, I was jumping around Euclid stations buying upgrades when I got a notification of an Atlas Station and the Atlas Path quest decided to reappear in my log. So, I went there, gave it another Heart, spawned another star, got another pop-up telling me to craft a star seed (already have one, thank you), then was notified of a black hole. The Atlas Path quest had disappeared but I took the jump anyway, which then gave me another black hole notification!

So confused... Either I didn't actually complete the Atlas Path quest line, despite it having been removed from my log, or somehow I've got my wires crossed. I'm tempted to just keep hole-hopping to see if it clears it up but would rather not waste hours repeating everything I've already done.

Thoughts? Can you unlock all the "seeds", get your rememberance and star seed modules, reboot the galaxy, and STILL have more Atlas to do?? If so, why is it no longer in my log (again)? Did I screw it up by going back to Euclid and maybe I'm visiting old Atlas interface spawns?

Freighter Battles Not Spawning? [Question]

I’ve been recently trying to find an S-Class freighter by jumping to systems with high economy and high conflict levels but I’ve only had one freighter battle spawn after the first warp and I’ve warped over 30 times. Are they rarer now in the new updates? (old player returning to the game)
