Species and exploration [Fan Work]
I’ve been a huge fan of space since I was a kid, and when I discovered nms it was a complete game changer for me. Combining my love for space and my hobby and entertainment of video games. I’ll admit at first it was difficult to get into, but once I started learning about trade routes and all the fun ship building things you can do. I got into it pretty heavy. One thing that’s missing for me though is the joy of finding life. You find like on almost %100 of the planets you find, and they are all usually similar terrain. I feel like there’s a way to incorporate other terrain types in the procedurally generated worlds, and just leaving some of them barren. It would add a lot I feel like. Because now all of a sudden we would have uncanny planets, ones that feel liminal, because were used to creatures and plants everywhere, but they’re now empty.
Another thing would be the sentient life. Gek, Vykeen, Korvax, Travelers. They’re all cool, but all super advanced. In my opinion it would be cool to have a handful of developer made planets, with sentient alien life on them. They could show different stages of evolution and progression. Maybe a couple planets have spread out tribes, a few have bustling medieval cities, and then some are completely filled with people. If that were possible then adding “artifacts” like outdated technology would be really cool and highly valuable. Or being able to trade those planets for clothing options, and knowledge would be cool. It would be kinda hard to manage I’ll admit, but spreading out the life we have, and adding more sentient -not so advanced- creatures would be cool.
