I demolished one of my original base buildings and replaced it with a brand new laboratory [Screenshot]
TLDR: My new laboratory houses my base refiners, as well as a desk with some paperwork, and a holographic workstation (think of Tony Stark's), and other things. I spent some time on the little details.
A little base history: My first base (now my home base), Serenity Valley, was originally a wood building (built with what are now considered legacy parts), connected to a prefab (seen in the final image right before demolition began), which housed my refiners, and a round building for solar panels and batteries.
I usually just add on to the original construction, leaving my first base somewhat intact. The largest building in the complex, my museum, was the first addition I did like this. You can see it in the last image, tho that was not the focus of that picture.
When new types of construction materials were added, and the old parts deemed "Legacy parts", I made a few changes to the upper level and roof of my wooden main building, using the new parts, while leaving the original wood parts for the ground floor. The interior changed as I learned new building and deco techniques, but the building itself stayed the same.
When i learned how to find and hook up electromagnetic generators, I kept the round prefab with the solar panels to remember where the base started. You can see it in the 1st image.
This is the first time I have completely demolished an entire building from my original base. It was kind of a moment for me, tbh.
But, time moves on, and progress does, as well, so I finally replaced the old building made of cube rooms with a brand new salvaged metal building. It still has that new building smell.
Since the roof of the demolished building used to contain my Expedition completion decals, those have been moved to new plaques in my museum building (images 8 and 9)....
