DLSS option gone [Question]

So I just updated to the most recent Nvidia drivers and now DLSS is no longer an option in the graphics settings. Has this happened to anyone else? Currently running an RTX 3070.

Corvette build limits [Ship Builds]

They really need to up these to about 300, I can't help myself and make massive ships and get to the build limit pretty quickly

I can make a decent looking exterior with 100 parts, but then im limited to having a blank interior,

Im guessing if i go over 100 parts no one else can see the interiors I make, not that I mind its my ship, i still get to see it, but i'd like to be able to show off the internals of the work i do as well, 100 parts is pretty low from a building point of view

Infinite death loop [Question]

Someone please help lol.

I haven't played in a few months. Decided to log in to check out the new update. I logged off in my base last time I played.

Logging in I'm still in my base, I can see it for literally a second, then I die, over and over and over with no way to react.

I just get the death text up, you know the quotes from sci-fi books etc with no time to react.

I've played for years and never experienced this, how do I get out of this when there's literally no time to move or react before I die.

Also I'm in my base, upstairs, what could possibly be killing me?

I love the new update…but… [Bug]

I hope they can fix this problem soon. My 4-legged robot dog corvette never seems to want to land anywhere, so i have to get out of the cockpit and jump down to the planet… I’m guessing it won’t land because of this issue with terrain?

It would also be nice if we got an oversized landing pad for our bases for our corvettes… my dog won’t land on any of the pads, even if i try calling it in.

I also hope there may be a fix soon for the frame rate for when the corvettes get more complex… i tried to line my dog with living walls, but the more plants i added, the more my frames per second decreased… when it was almost fully stocked, gameplay became very difficult and choppy… like a very horribly done stop-motion animation movie

Game refuses to open in any capacity (STEAM) [Bug]

Recently reinstalled to try the new update

The game will not launch at all. Tried via steam, tried running the exe as admin, verfied files, you name it, i've done it.

It appears as running in task manager, but is not in my taskbar and does not open the game in any way.

This is incredibly annoying, has anyone experienced this and managed to find a fix?

I've uninstalled again until this issue is patched or a fix is found

Why is the update so damn buggy [Bug]

I love the update, the new ships are awesome but it doesn’t help that it impossible to fucking fly them because I can’t go 30 seconds without hitting some super tiny asteroid, or sometimes I won’t even hit anything at all, and it’ll still get ragdolled and start spinning all over the place. Also I keep randomly going thru floors, like in my ship and in space stations. It’s really annoying man I hope they fix all this

Now we have space walking we should have bigger asteroids. next step should be asteroid mining and asteroid base building. [Discussion]

we need some big steroids. i remember when in early years some users figured out how to glitch out from ship and land on asteroids. there was lack of good boudry so you had to walk half burried through body ground. i think game is at there. engine can build modular corvettes so 8 feel like this should be next direction. heck i would pay for big ass game changing DLCs.

Base Computer mission bug in co-op (cannot both place one) [Question]

Hey everyone,
My friend and I just started No Man’s Sky with the new update and we have run into an issue with the very first missions. The game asks us to place a Base Computer but when one of us places it on a planet the other one cannot place theirs and the quest does not progress for them.

Is this how it is supposed to work in co-op or is it a bug? It feels strange that only one of us can move forward. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a workaround?

Settlement output is messed up [Question]

Can someone explain to me what's going on with my settlement outputs? I've had both my settlements (one class S and one class A) set to produce frigate fuel in both outputs. But it seems that unless I just completely ignore both of them for several days, they never output anything. Not one single unit. I just logged back in for the first time in almost 2 months on Wednesday, after the Voyager drop, and each settlement had 2 stacks of 10 fuel. Since then, I've been in for 10+ hours each day, and neither have produced anything. I logged out last night and just logged back in this morning, and after 10 hours away, the game says I have another 24 hours before either settlement is done. So this will be going on 5 straight days with no output.

I submitted this as a suspected bug to HG back after the Beacon update when I noticed this, and also reported it in one of the weekly bug threads, that I suspected that any time you take on settlement debt, no matter how small, it resets the timer back to max, instead of picking up where it left off before the debt occurred. I have no idea if that's accurate or not. All I know is my settlements don't produce anything unless I just ignore them for a week.

Anyone else have this problem?

Corvette parts [Question]

Do we really have to grind for every single corvette part, or is there away to have them permanently unlocked as a blueprint once you find it? I don’t mind working for my reward, but I also don’t want an endless grind just to build a ship.

That being said, I haven’t had enough time to truly sit down and explore the new update fully, so perhaps I’m missing something too.

Space anomely not working. [Bug]

The space anomely is not working for me. I am online but there are no players. The expedition terminal is still on the relic expedition and I need help. I can't figure it out and how I fix this. Some leads is that I played the relic expedition when it was out and then stopped. When I came back to the game and the expedition was over I was still in the expedition save but I had a black screen. After a few resets I finally got in the game and returned to the primary save. But the anomely hasn't worked since. I can't play the new expedition and I can't see other players at the anomely. I am on the latest version and I can see the rewards on the claim expedition rewards page. I'm playing on ps5 but I don't think that has something to do with it

Since the Voyagers update dropped my game has been crashing everytime I try to open a save file.

I had two, a creative one and a normal one, and I couldn't play in neither of them.

I also created a new file only to see if it crashed, and it does.

It says it's a problem from the graphic

Am I the only one who, in addition to the dozens of issues in the new update, has encountered one that's quite... Annoying? When walking around in my Corvette, I see strange waves in the view, especially in first person. I love the update, but it's too much, too buggy, and it causes extreme lag, especially in Nexus.

Turns out, if a stranger climbs aboard your corvette, they’re counted as “part of your party” if they close the hatch behind them. Someone boarded my ship on the space anomaly immediately before I took off and they ended up in a completely different galaxy. The fact that this is this games 3rd or 4th Renaissance is mind blowing and every other game should take note [Discussion]

It's like a whole new game... again! And in no way is it detracting from the older version. Absolutely incredible. And it's not a separate purchase? How things should be, yet nothing makes me want to throw them some money -by choice- than this, out of appreciation of the work.

All games should take note. Bad launch? Keep improving. Player base moving away? Keep improving. New features that would just be cool? Keep adding them.

I absolutely salute all who have and continue to work on this game for the passion of an amazing product and for the art.

Planning a custom nomadic play through [Question]

I played the game at launch and have some great memories of it. Basically I would like to recreate my original nomadic play through but with the visual enhancements, improvements to planets, flora and fauna, bug fixes and QoL improvements.

None of the updates geared towards the creative / sandbox aspect of the game interest me. Freighters look cool though and I think one of the updates was story related so that did interest me.

My goal would be to get to the centre of the galaxy by solo self finding as much as possible, trading up and upgrading ships as I go. I am interested in the lore so would like some elements in the play through if possible but not if it takes away too much from the nomadic experience.

I’m very happy to see that there are custom options for game mode. A deal breaker for me was compulsory base building but from what I have read I can now skip this completely by disabling tutorial missions. It looks like I can also adjust the amount of systems / farming / grinding which is why I’m tempted to pick the game up again. Is there anything else that I’m missing that might get in the way of a nomadic play through?

I get side tracked so much, and then have to confront the inevitable inventory management from whatever Tanget I went down.

I've been resisting to getting a paper notebook and just writing down what I'm hoping to accomplish.

What is this drape/Cloak customisation? [Question]

Spotted this on a Voyagers 6.0 Update Introduction Page, specifically under the 'Ambassador-Class Furnishings' section...

I usually rock the other Autophage drapes, but this one that goes across the side of the chest and over the shoulder doesn't look like the 3 that I'm aware of?

Is this another addition in the update? I haven't heard talk of it at all and I love myself a good Dune-style cloak

Try to pick up where I left off or start over? [Question]

Hey everyone - kind of at a loss of how to get back into this game and I'd love some advice from long term players.

I hadn't touched my save in years and SO much has changed (I know it's for the better - I've followed this sub for a long time).

I really want to get back into the game...so I logged onto my old save and holy crap I'm so lost. I have an A class freighter and a bunch of smaller ships (a couple exotics from when they were first released) but I have no idea what I'm doing.

My hesitation with starting again is how much of a grind I remember the early game being. Finding a resource and spending hours/days ferrying it to/from space stations to make some money so I can afford better equipment.

That said none of the ships or equipment I have is even remotely interesting. I think the last time I played was before expeditions started.

So that's my hesitation with restarting...but since I'm absolutely 100% lost I feel like restarting might be the best idea so I can re-learn everything.

And honestly with how much things have changed I'm just...lost.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and I also understand that cross saves are a thing now? I have this on Steam but would love to play on my PS5 when I'm not traveling so being able to take this with me on trips would be great. Plus it's on sale on PS5 right now so might be a good buy.

Sorry for the ramble...just really want to get back into this but it's sort of overwhelming.

I noticed that depending on where you place the elements, it affects the maneuverability score of the ships. On the first version, I had a score of 1200, on the latest version, 720...

I'm having trouble understanding the logic behind this. Can someone explain?

Solutions to the frigate build problem [Question]

The new update is amazing; however, one nuisance that I encountered is the fact that, once you get 100+ pieces by adding interiors, you can no longer make any modifications to your corvette. How do you get around this? Is it by tearing down all of the interior builds, so that it once again falls within 100 pieces, or are there some other workarounds? Any help is appreciated.

I made a "Batmobile" inspired Corvette! [Ship Builds]

I didn't plan for it, but playing with the build system, I ended up with that! And I love it!
And while I chase for more parts, this is now my go-to ship.

Small enough to still be fairly fast (1900 maneuverability!), but still 2 inside pods to have all the new features from corvettes.

And I feel extremely badass flying in it, which is a nice bonus ;P

Hope everyone is having a blast with the new update!

PS: last picture is an earlier design, but I loved the colors in the pic ;p

PS2: The tech modules in the corvettes are incredibly buggy, with stuff moving around all the time, tech modules disappearing. I tried to optimize this ship a bit and then realize there were no way until a patch. Quite a mess the inventory system for those corvettes with all the modularity. But I am sure they will get it together at some point!

Batplane esc corvette [Ship Builds]

Love the new system, and while some of the bugs are really annoying, with time it'll only become better and better. Would love a way to increase the limit on parts, though I understand why it's there, and the current cap is a good number to get what you want out of it. Electronics would also be pretty cool so I can have a bytebeat station near the cockpit. Overall really good update, enjoying it alot so far.

PCVR crashes on launch [Bug]

So I tried playing the VR-mode two days ago to see if it works and it did, so I tried booting up the game today but when I launch the game in VR-mode it just crashes and gives me this error message

It still works in normal Pc mode. Does anybody have an idea or do I just have to wait until it fixes itself?

Superman skydiving glitchure [Bug]

I've not seen anyone talk about this yet, but if you aim upwards and jetpack forward while skydiving, you can cancel out your downwards momentum. After that you can just fly horizontally above the ground even with the jetpack off, Superman style. If you continue aiming upwards, you can build up height and even go back to outer space this way.

It really helps pull this off that the jetpack is unlimited and way more powerful while skydiving. It's definitely unintended and seems to stem from a shared inertia system between spacewalking and skydiving, but it's really really fun and I hope it stays in the game like a lot of fun glitches do.

Bytebeat switches not working at all. Please help me if you know a solution. [Bug]

I recently returned to the game (after about a year of not playing) and came across the following problem.

I have made a lot of things in the past using bytebeat switches. I had a fully working setup but now all my bytebeat switches just don't seem to switch anymore.

I am certain they are hooked up correctly. I even checked videos and guides to be sure I did.

If I build a small setup in another base the switch also doesn't switch. It's either always on or always off when I load into the game.

I have tried rebuilding the setup and building setups at other bases. No matter what I do the switch just doesn't switch.

If anyone has a solution to this problem I would be very grateful.

First Corvette [Ship Builds]

My first attempt at a corvette and recreating my ship from Starfield (in third image). Needs some tweaks yet, but was a fun attempt. Other than the right side top middle engine. That thing fought hard to be placed. The left side dropped in fine. The right side I had to fiddle with build order multiple ways to get it to finally attach with the fuel tanks and reactor under it and structure in-between the two engines. Could use some different color selections, or better select primary and secondary color separately.

Is Starbirth bugged or am I dumb? [Question]

Answering the question: probably both.

I have started the quest a LONG time ago, but I had to take a break from the game and now it seems like I can't complete it.

Currently the game tells me to follow a glyph path and I already have all 16 of them, searched online multiple times and it can't be anywhere else but where I am (Ischel-Althu, Discovered 5 years ago by DW on Steam and it has 5 planets and 1 moon, the portal takes me to Axentha Sigma) but whenever I'm in the planet it tells me the Signal doesn't match the Void Egg's Resonance but it doesn't matter how much I scan, fly, go to other planets in the same system, close and open the game, it doesn't work.

I got all the parts with me, Glyphs are Hunter, Reflection, Hunter, Spiral, Star, Orb, Companion, Hunter, Insect, Anomaly, Sailor, King. EUCLID 3x

I still haven't finished Artemis' path and idk if I need to complete it in order to finish the quest, but even then Artemis' path also seems to be bugged for me as Patterns of Time never ends, I keep doing quests for the Gek, even in different Systems, but it never ends and I am scared of my save being bugged cause I won't create another save.

How's the building limit nowadays? [Question]

I used to play a few years back but dropped it because the building limit was very frustrating for me. I didn’t enjoy constantly feeling like I was getting closer to the limit as I played, having to count everything I placed, and not being able to build the way I wanted. I understand this game isn’t all about building since it offers much more, but building is the part I enjoy most in these kinds of games.

Over the past few years, has there been any update to building limit? Or is there a trick or mod that lets us bypass the limit? The new update looks awesome, but I really don’t want to deal with the same restriction again.

Minimalist Corvette Experiments [Ship Builds]

I've seen a lot of awesome large and creative corvette builds, but not many smaller builds. While not surprised, it did make me wonder what could be achieved by using the fewest, and smallest by volume, parts available to us. And what follows is a collection of discoveries that could be useful to very imaginative builders.

The first 5 images are the smallest configurations I could manage that were also actually usable in game. Do note however the habitat hallway in the third image is completely inaccessible, so that is the least usable config of them. The fourth config is usable because all the landing gear modules are currently missing hit boxes and the character walks right through them. The fifth is usable as the cockpit is open space accessible and you can add a ladder to access the habitat.

The last two images are configs that are currently accepted by the build system but are completely unusable in game. In image 6 the reactor blocks the cockpit, in image 7 the weapon also blocks it. In each case, you are able to access the cockpit if you stand on top of it. However, when you try to exit the ship you will be standing inside the cockpit, unable to escape. DO NOT BUILD LIKE THIS.

Building Tips Discovered:

  1. Cockpits require Habitats in order to be placed, but will remain in position if the Habitat is deleted. This makes them accessible from outside the ship, provided you don't build anything behind it to block access.

  2. Landing Gear and Landing Access modules can attach to the Cockpit. Weapons, Reactors, and Thrusters will not attach to cockpits.

  3. Nacelle or wing Thrusters (attach at the sides) will attach to Landing Gear.

  4. All Thrusters and Landing Gear can attach directly to a Reactor.

  5. Ventral Landing Gear styles will remain connected to the ship if there is an adjacent Habitat/Hull parallel to or just above the Landing Gear. This can...

The last time we had this many players online was June 2018 which was 96,954 people.

Right now there is 76,797 players and growing.

And keep in mind back in 2018 there was less platforms that were playing too so we have no clue what the numbers are like on console but it can almost guarantee that there's a lot more players on those as well this weekend.

Why can't I salvage my corvette? [Question]

I don't like the way one of my corvettes look and I tried deleting everything on it but it couldn't then be finalised as it has a bunch of missing parts so it just resets. So I then tried salvaging it on the starship outfitting but it won't let me salvage it and instead comes up with "cannot salvage your only working ship" but it isn't my only working ship. I was just hoping someone has a way to fix this because I want to get rid of some of my corvettes especially the first few I made

Question about multiplayer [Question]

I’ve recently been getting back on but I’ve only ever played single player. I want to play with my brother and dad. If I join their world and make progress, can I still play on their world even if they aren’t online? If not, will my items and progress still carry over to another session?

I'm doing the living ship mission and I got to the part that asks me to use a portal but when I used one there was no glyph. I've been doing the mission for 1 week and being blocked by mechanics like that is sad

Squadron building help [Question]

All of the methods that I've read about are very old so I just want to double check and make sure everything still works the same way. If I want a member of my squadron to have a specific ship is the method still to just exchange the ship with them while they're a random NPC landing encounter and then hire them? Also what are the ramifications of doing that? Does the ship you trade with them keep the upgrades it currently has attached? And I've read that it randomizes the class when you do that but is that true for royal exotics since technically they can only be S class? I've never fooled around with the squadron function so if there's a point of it I'm missing in these questions clarification on that would be wonderful as well.

Voyagers update crashing [Bug]

I play on a Steam Deck 80% of the time versus on my MacBook Air.

I know there are bugs with the latest update, but I can’t be in the corvette build screen for more than 30 min before my Deck hard crashes and reboots. Gameplay outside of the corvette build screen is normal with maybe some extra glitching while in the corvette.

Note: my deck isn’t heavily modded. Just some plugins on Decky.

Is this just bugs and wait for 6.0.2? Or is my install borked?

I had a busy work week so last night was my first time back on my Deck and was excited to play NMS

Corvette beaming bug [Question]

Is anyone else having a problem with one sided beams from the corvette? I can beam down to a planet just fine but the teleporter on the ground does nothing when I interact with it. I used it to dock at an atlas station and I’m now stuck inside bc I cannot beam back to the docked vette. Any ideas? Fixes?

Lost Core?? [Question]

I saw some strange structure and it gave me the location of some alien ruins things and I found this Lost Core item, gravitino balls and some vortex cubes in the surrounding area. I’m new and don’t know what these are, they sell for a lot but I don’t want to sell them if they are rare or important. What are these and what should I do? I’m like 3 hours into the game.

Need help enjoying the game [Discussion]

I want to enjoy this game and play this with my friends, which is why I am making this post.

Whenever I try to play NMS, everything feels floaty and somewhat clunky. It's as if there was a small amount of lag, with no actual lag that is there. The entire game runs smooth at 60fps.

Maybe someone else has experiences this before and can help with making it feel smoother. Mods and such are fine too.

Objectives & UX Frustration [Question]

It feels like objective/mission/quest tracking is extremely frustrating. It only tracks one thing, seemingly, and often it seems like that thing has to be active to be able to do the mission (but not always?) It also seems impossible to know what to do unless it's active and you look at the bottom right prompt. That prompt comes up and goes away as it feels like it, and sometimes the active objective just seems to change itself. I finally had to stop carrying planetary charts with me because the game REALLLLY wants me to deal with them RIGHT NOW if it sees them in my inventory.

And every time I go to Nada it REALLY insists I need to claim rewards. I can't even afford to buy the Utopia Speeder yet in this save which is the only one I have left it seems. So this is just another example of the bottom right single objective tracking getting totally overridden to something I don't want or care about, and interfering with what I'm actually trying to do.

There's no real difference between pinned recipes or actual missions, or 'tips', it's all shoved into that bottom right prompting system that I'm constantly fighting with or annoyed waiting for it to cinematically decide an objective is complete or something.

Am I doing something wrong? It feels so horrible, I keep bouncing off this game. Though the game itself seems otherwise great. :(

I know I'm not the first person this has happened to, but does anyone have a fix for the invisible walls in the freighter bug? I am unable to debrief a mission because of it. So if you have a fix for just that part, I can live with the walls. Thanks!

I can't edit my Corvette?? (PS5) [Bug]

So basically I made a Corvette but it's now bulky then I like so I want to change it up, but as the title b says I can't. Im not to sure why but I tried making a new ship and still couldn't add anything to it, not even just va landing gear to the floor the very start to he whole process. Anyone has any ideas what it may be? Part of me think it's because I added things to the internal wall like the gun storage rack and the greenery wall. Has anyone had to deal with similar things while playing on console?

its in the middle of space next to a planet.. it says nothing only that i can tag and untag it.. once when i was looking right at it, it said it was on planet.. it hasnt done that again so far.. when i get close i just fly over it... this is me literally with the nose of my ship right up on it.. ive been in this system for awhile now and it only showed up after leaving the anomaly

So I've just started playing, now the tutorial tells me to search for clues on Artemis. check the log for pinned upgrade formula? I have no idea how to progress from here, can't find anything online as well. I should get a base building tutorial at this point if I am correct. Btw playing in another language because my kid is playing as well and his English is not that good yet.

Harrier-Class (Star Trek inspired fan design) [Ship Builds]

So, while I LOVE the USS Enterprise, and I do recognize the effort of trying to build as close to the look of one of the iconic ships as possible, I wanted to build something a little more proportional and “realistic” to the scale. I remembered I encountered a fanmade design from an older Star Trek site that had a pretty well conceived ship that was only a couple decks tall, but still looks like a mini Nova-class. I still had the floor plans saved in my Photos, but not the ship design, so after a bit of digging, I found the site again:

Scroll down and you find the Harrier-Class! Got a good backstory made up for it, and seems like a perfect fit for the era it’s written for, and for my new ship in NMS.

Probably going to tweak it a bit for shaping and whatnot, but overall, I like how it came out. Love that I was able to color change and make it look like I have the blue and red for the nacelles, just wish I could make them glow, haha.

Glitchy freighter since update [Bug]

Since the update i noticed some of my corridors are blocked. Sometimes i can jetpack around the empty corridor but an entire section of my freighter is still visible but i cannot walk down the stairs. I have essentially lost access to an entire deck and contents. I have tried installing new bulkheads etc to the affected area but i cannot pass through those either. :-(

I only have 19 hours in this game and was turning in milestones and such at the hub, so I wasn't paying attention to all the receival notifications at the time. Went to the space station next door to sell some items and realized that I had 600 mil worth of AI valves in my inventory!! I am assuming a random gave me these while I wasn't paying attention and I never got to thank them.

This is a huge game changer for me early in the game, so thank you to whoever this was!

Bug with corvettes [Bug]

Recently I tried building a new corvette using the titan-class modules in the bussing menu, when Im in the editor and flying through the ship it all looks fine but when I finalise the design none of the parts are connected to each other and I can't walk through the ship or access the cockpit.

Any help or solutions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

How the Voyager gonna change our fleets [Discussion]

I got a bit of mixed feelings towards this Voyagers update. I'm not against change, and feel it's mostly great when we get more options to choose from. I just didn't really see it coming that we gonna get yet another starship related content expansion, right after we got custom ship building opportunities, by which the community's majority was wholly satisfied I believe.

Now we got the Corvettes, which, in itself is f**kin' awesome, hands down to Hello Games. But, I wonder what's gonna be the fate of the regular one seaters now? Are they gonna be neglected in the face of this do-all new class of behemoths, and some will just gonna keep a legacy-fleet for display? Or not use them at all anymore? I mean with this much more detailed corvette building, we already see the potential it brings, and the starship slots are still limited, even with the archive.

Okay, I know this class is still player-exclusive still and you gotta build it yourself after you made a certain progress, but by having one class which really seem to be outdoin' any other with it's utility, I don't really see reason for example, a new player, or a vet on a new save stick with a one-seater after having the background for going for a Corvette build.

Ofc I might be overly dramatic over this as I'm liking to keep legacy stuffs as well, but the one-seaters were/are iconic to NMS, and I'd be a bit sad seeing them have to take the backseat from now on.

Also, I'm yet to build one myself as I'm planning for only one, and I need THE Inspiration for that, so it might be just me, not getting caught up in the hype of it yet.

No Multiplayer [Bug]

I’ve been trying to fix my game for 3 days now it keeps saying I have no connection to multiplayer services. I’ve looked up a lot of way to fix this but nothing has worked so far. Sometimes it doesn’t say I have no multiplayer connection but I would go to the anomaly and see no one.

Bug fix after voyagers update [Bug]

Anyone dealing with their no man’s sky screen being black and they can still hear sound after the new update tune in I’m gonna help you fix it. It seems like the main issue is with Dolby vision gaming. I have a TCL TV. And directly through the tv settings, it doesn’t allow you to turn this off, but be assured that this is exactly what will fix the issue. If it doesn’t allow you to do it through your TV settings Xbox settings will have it there to where It allows Dolby Vision to remain active while getting you can turn the setting off through your Xbox. Reset the game and you should be able to see the game load up.

Hello everyone, I have a question, I saw a video on YouTube of a guy playing NoMansSky on Ultra with a card like mine, the processor was stronger, but still wasn't it supposed to have more performance?

R7 5700X 4070 Super 12GB 16gb RAM 3200mhz 2 SSD

My GPU is not at 100% and neither is the processor. I thought that if the gpu wasn't at 100% it was the processor's fault, but it's not even at 100%

STUCK ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SPACE! [Question]

Ship Suspension?? [Suggestion]

Something that I’ve always thought could be a bit refined is the ship landing animations. I feel like it’s a good bit smoother when you land on water, but on land most ships get real slow on approach, then kinda abruptly fall on the ground. A bit jarring especially when planet hopping. Above is an example of what I think is a perfect, smooth landing sequence with extending landing gear with added suspension (Jedi fallen order). What are your thoughts?

Possible solution for "Cannot Land Here" issue. [Information]

After some experimenting, I think I have discovered a solution for the "Cannot Land Here" issue some folks are having with their builds. The first time you save a corvette, it creates a snapshot in your ship registry. If you look at that and see there are parts cut off, it likely means you will run into the "Cannot Land Here" issue. The solution is to initially build your corvette using the circle on the construction area as a guide, don't let anything overhang that. Then finalize the corvette. Once that's done, you should be able to go back in and build to your heart's content, but still be able to summon your corvette to the surface.

It does unfortunately mean you'll need to completely replace a corvette that is having the issue.

Played on first gen switch and it’s actually nuts how well it runs [Discussion]

Obviously the graphics are potato but im running this game on wifi from starlink up at my cottage and despite being at about 480p graphics it’s a really solid experience. I have this for pc and for ps5 and don’t get me wrong it doesn’t compare at all but for a mobile experience it works.

My switch doesn’t get much use, and when it does, it’s usually docked. This was my first time running it as a handheld and for such a sophisticated game it holds its own.

Disclaimers, controls are a bit janky, graphics trash, but the gameplay is there. Devs did a good job downscaling it for this console. I bet it runs even better on switch two.

I hope this means it could be an IOS / Android app one day too. Anyone else run it on switch or other handhelds?

Nutrient processor stopped working [Bug]

Can't use the nutrient processors. On both the corvette and my base i can put the ingredients in, it shows the correct product, but I can't start it to make the recipe. Deleted both the processor in base and on the corvette, saved, restarted, rebuilt on base...doesn't work. Rebuilt on corvette. Still no. Haven't had one on the freighter.

Any help?

Potential player with gameplay question [Question]

I'm curious to purchase this game on switch 2 because it seems like a relaxing game but I have a question about the gameplay.

I tried this game on gamepass a while back and found that all I was doing was scanning and collecting resources. This wasn't particularly interesting to me.

I've read that there are weapons and combat but wanted to see just how much there is. Are there guns and melee weapons? Do you fight a variety of enemies?

I have had bad mental health lately, and gaming was the only thing that kept me going forward. I was playing other games, while they were fun and chill too, it kind of felt off. Some of them have really toxic community or throws some competitive propaganda (Like this game is better than that). Even though I play many games alone and have fun I do SOMETIMES wish i can meet people who play the same game and not be toxic about it. I came back to this after many months and NMS is perfect. In my 10 years of playing this game, I have not seen a single Drama of it aside from that launch disaster (even then everyone were on the same page and not really fighting each other). Everytime I feel sad I just come back to this game, maybe look at what other people are building or just go through space to relax.

Clipping corvette and unusable editor [Bug]

My friend who's new to the game put a portable refiner in my corvette that didn't stick and was left behind when I took off, but now I can't use pulse drive at all without clipping on something and having my ship thrown in spins. To add I can't edit or build anything for corvettes in the editor now either, was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and knew how to fix it

Playing In VR with Xbox Gamepass doesn’t work? [Question]

So I have a Quest 3 and I have NMS download through the Xbox App via gamepass when I open the game it asks me every time “do you want to run the normal version or the VR version” steamvr is open and connected I select NMS run in VR the game opens and starts to run but then I get a unable to load (find) file I tried to look it up and found it’s most likely looking for a specific VR file, but I don’t know what file would be missing. I went into the Xbox App and used the Repair Files option and still doesn’t work. The game runs perfectly fine when I load it in 2d but all of a sudden when trying to load in VR it “ can’t find anything it needs to run the game” any help would be appreciated next step is completely uninstall and reinstall but wanted to see if anyone else has encounters this

Im i the 9nly one experiencing major glitches with landing corvettes? [Bug]

Loving the new corvette system so far but the only thing keeping me from using it full time are the game breaking bugs I'm getting from trying to land my ship. It seems to be mostly centered around space stations. I'll go to enter one, the auto pilot kicks in, and it'll just fly me through the whole station out the back and not stop the auto pilot until I reload the game. A few times it has landed me in the station, but then rotated me way out into space. This one's not as bad because it lets me land so I can take back off, but it still prevents me from using the station. I get this is the kind of bug that'll be fixed soon, but I'm wondering if anyone has a workaround to make it less common. It's genuinely happening 2/3s of the time I try and land at this point.

The corvette system needs a bit of a rework [Discussion]

Salvageable scrap is so rare! I flew around an airless moon for 5 minutes before finding a single one, and then had to fly 1,000 U to it, before needing to fly 10 minutes to find the next. Also, the trading system in the space station makes little sense. When you discover a part for a corvette you should unlock it and be able to purchase it for units, or need to craft it using supplies. It’s so much work flying around to find these parts which you need to stuff your inventory with

I’m sorry for this stupid noob question… [Question]

My first base I built, following the main storyline in the beginning, didn’t need a power source for anything. My teleporter works to and from, I’ve used it both ways. I’m confused now that I’ve decided to build a new base off world and this one needs power for everything like the teleporter. So why is my first base getting power and this one isn’t? I never built a generator or used wiring to get power in the first. Literally I just built a teleporter and it worked out the box lol like magic. Can someone clear this up for me? I’m sorry, I’m new. I actually bought the game launch day, and beat it in like 5 hours lol but this isn’t the same game anymore to say the least 😅

The worst feeling in the game is being poor [Discussion]

I recently started playing (20 hrs in) and it has happened twice so far. One time I came across a exotic ship (the one with the big orb cockpit) and an A class freighter (while it isn’t an S, i liked it better than my B class I have).

And both times I was so excited only to realize I was WAY too poor to be able to get either of them.

That feeling of hitting deny on such nice upgrades is heart breaking.

I'm currently away on holiday when the latest update dropped, and will be doing so for another couple more weeks but I couldn't help but look up and see all the things occurring, Ship Building, with Interiors?! Wow!

What's the build limit for this new update? can we only make a ship of a certain size or within a certain amount of resources?

Atlas Themed Corvette? [Ship Builds]

Hello. I am in awe at all the talented builders in this community. Unfortunately, I just can't wrap my head around creating a design from scratch. I can barely manage to slap legos together without having some sort of trouble.
Would anyone be willing to help create some Atlas themed designs? My character is themed entirely around the Atlas: Reds, Blacks and, all harsh angles. I was hoping for some sentinel themed pieces, but it doesn't seem like there are any.

But when I watch YouTube videos it seems like they're playing a completely different game. I looked up how to scrap a ship and it's like they're talking about things that don't exist in my game. Invisible walls on freighter, need help [Bug]

So today I log on to check on some expeditions my frigates are doing, and I can’t get into any of them cause a wall is blocking half the hallway. I tried accessing them from the outside, warping to another system, telling my freighter to leave and then come back, turning the game off and on, and the walls are still there. The walls seem like they cover the back half of the freighter build space, and have a space between them about the size of a freighter hallway. Anyone know what I could do? I’m playing on the PC game pass version of the game.

Anyone else having trouble cooking? [Bug]

I can’t seem to do anything with the food processor. Standalone, in the freighter, in my corvette, on a base, none of them work. I put ingredients in and it tells me what will be prepared, but the result is greyed out and the start button no longer works.

I’ve tried even the simplest recipes, like turning frost crystals into glass grains. Nothing.

So, I haven’t played since Beacon update. At that time I had 7 (ish) different ships. All uniques. Logged in today to try out Corvette but found that there is only 1 sentinel in my possession and nothing else. Where they gone and can I retrieve them somehow?

Is anyone aware of a mod that let's you massively increase the size of a wonder projection? I'd like to put several of those on a corvette, project an image of one of my pets on each, and effectively be rolling deep in a posse of space dragons...

NMS using my igpu no matter what [Bug]

I tried. I really tried it.
No Man's Sky continues to use my integrated gpu no matter how i try to force it to use my 1050

I spent 5 hours bugfixing, trying every possible option on the earth to fix it, from external monitors, to editing the graphics settings file, to try to tweak with it using Nvidia Profile Inspector..

The main issue comes from the fact that my Legion Y530 renders everything through igpu because of optimus (which cannot be turned off anywhere), and while this seems to be of no concern to literally ANY OTHER game as long as i set my windows graphics settings properly, NMS just picks my igpu no matter what, and as you might have guessed, it makes the game absolutely unplayable.

Im not a tech wizard, but i really did a deep dig on every kind of fix from easy to advanced and nothing works in any way. Help is much appreciated.

I love hunting for ship parts [Discussion]

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I really love the fact that Hello Games made the decision to have you hunt for corvette class ship parts as salvaged scrap. By forcing you to collect and barter for parts, the process of building your corvette becomes one of personal achievement, where you are not only proud of the design itself, but also of the work that went into collecting the parts. I’m at the mid game right now, and having a bunch of new unique starship parts forced me to invest more time in upgrading my inventory, exocraft, and frighter to make the search more manageable.

I do recognize that it can be grindy, frustrating, and inconvenient to have to look for parts, but for me, the difficulty brings a special value and joy to flying my corvette, because it’s something I earned.

PROPOSAL

There are websites where people share their own blueprints and instructions on how to build cool looking things made out of Lego that cannot really be purchased as Lego sets, you have to have the pieces on hand.

Why dont we create a website or something just to catalog and distribute ship builds? people can upload their ship and what parts you need and how to build it on to a forum of some sort for people to see and utilize and build their own of that ship. Much like that atlas website that the community runs that catalogs all the galaxies, systems and planets in the game! We could also do contests or something to see who can re create the best ship from what media franchise and we can do like polls to see who built the best looking one and things, it could be really cool, and maybe we can get Hello Games involved to gift special unique in game cosmetics or something to the winners!! I think something like this already exists in Starfield, and I think it would be a great idea!

I apologize if this is a newbie question. After a 5 year hiatus, the newest update lured me back. i'm working on building my corvette, but I'm running into a weird issue. I have corvette components in my inventory, but when I go to use them in the corvette workshop, they don't show up as available. I've tried putting them in my ship inventory, my exosuit inventory, and the module refund (what is this even for?) inventory. Is there a specific place they need to be? or am i not meeting the requirements to use them? I'm totally lost

Help Regaining Starborn Phoenix [Question]

So I accidentally deleted the golden ship trail on my Starborn Phoenix. I was unaware that the Phoenix was a one redemption per save type of reward. I scrapped the one I had in an effort to just reclaim it to get the golden trail back.

Does anyone know how I can regain my ship on my save? Over 100 hours on my save and I feel like an idiot lol.

Landing Problems [Question]

So I made a corvette in my main regular save and for some reason when fly to a planet and land i can't summon my ship if I walk away from. So basically I land, walk some distance away and if I try to summon it to where I am it says "cannot land here". I don't know if I'm being an idiot and forgetting some but everything is charged. I made a ship in creative to see if it happened there too but it works fine there. I don't know if its a bug or not

Archangel [Ship Builds]

Tried to recrate Archangel from mobile suit gundam seed. This is how far I can get with 100 component limit and the lack the vertical wings. As a non builder type player, I never thought I would have this much fun from building system. Excellent update for making a lot of people's dream come true.

Cannot move stock warp drive, launch thrusters, photon cannon, etc once corvette is built [Bug]

So I built my corvette, and when I went into the technology slots, and tried to rearrange things like I always do to line up the components, I found that I could not move the standard warp drive or launch thrusters or photon cannons or ship shield. Normally you can move these around in a normal ship so that you can line up your added modules so they work together more effectively. However the game doesn't treat those items as technology, or it doesn't regard the tech slots as tech inventory anymore or something. Anyone else notice this? it makes getting components grouped together quite the challenge and wastes your supercharged slots quite a bit.

Building Corvettes is super buggy?? [Bug]

For some reason, when building corvettes, my habs don't connect to each other. I'd put down 2 or 3 habs next to one another, but then I can't actually walk between them at all. They're just always walled off. I can't even reach my cockpit, because there's a wall in the way, that I can't get rid of, because there isn't even interior doors. It can't be supposed to be like this right? From the builds I've seen on here and on Youtube, there would be 4+ Habs between the entrance and the cockpit. Also, the game will sometimes outright refuse to let me select pieces, that I KNOW I have. The Supercruise pieces are extremely notorious for this. I'd take one off, then the game wont let me select it again, even though I still have it in my inventory, when I check. Am I just doing it wrong, or should I wait for a Hotfix?

Unpopular Opinion: they never really worked on fixing the biggest lie/promise told before launch [Discussion]

There’s all this new shiny stuff added, but it’s like they forgot the game was supposed to be about procedural generation and exploration.

It’s still the same small handful of animal parts mashed together, and every new creature that’s been added is handcrafted, so once you’ve seen them once, you have quite literally seen them all.

The game was sold as this exploration game with infinite possibilities, yet all I can find is the same boring hills and the same dozen creatures I’ve seen a million times. You can almost always imagine exactly what a planet will look like the second you scan it from space. Space encounters? All hand crafted, nothing procedural about them. Every space station interior identical. There are literally no surprises in this game if you play like 10+ hours

You can sink so much time into this game if you just kinda ignore the boring as hell exploration, which is such a shame since they pitched it as an exploration game. Maybe procedurally generated exploration simply can’t be interesting, as Starfield helped to prove, but the exploration in NMS is VERY boring

Have Haulers become useless?? [Discussion]

so with the introduction of Corvette Class ships.. are Hauler class ships kinda made useless??

a Haulers main attributes were (and I quote) " Haulers: Large cargo capacity, high shield bonuses, but poor maneuverability. "

since you can basically make a Corvette class with similar inventory but have the addition of Storage Containers and even better increase the maneuverability a touch... it begs the question..

ARE Haulers made pointless outside of maybe early game...

So I'm just completely stuck in the cockpit of my corvette ship, it's put my restore point as directly Infront of the chair so I'm stuck in the teeny space and can't move out of there, if I'm in 3rd person unless my camera is at this angle it just glitches out. I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else or if there's a fix because I wanted to enjoy my newly built corvette :( The cockpit itself is the thunderbird one

Corvette parts stuck on regular starship after deleting pieces [Bug]

So, I hope this is just a misunderstanding of the game as I am new, but also very rusty. But I deleted several parts off my corvette, and I thought it just deleted them because my inventory was full. Sucks, but whatever. Gotta buy new ones. Turns out, they are all on my other ship in it's technology, and it won't let me move them around at all. Is this a glitch or is there something I am misunderstanding?

The ship looks way advanced than what we have and uses superior quality materials. As nature takes its course, the ship is overtaken by the local fauna.

This exhibit is now open to public in Euclid and can be reached with the coordinates on the last two images. Please do not touch or damage the exhibit. Children below 10 must be accompanied with adults. Pets are allowed.

No Man's Starfield [Discussion]

The more I think about the Voyagers update, the more I feel that our boy Sean is indirectly telling us about a collab between Hello Games and Bethesda. First, the whole ship building is very reminiscent of Starfield. Even down to the Habs and modular parts.

Next you have the "Skyborn" Exosuit. Skyborn seems to be a nod to the Starborn from Starfield. I mean come on, the suit even looks like Constellation's space suit, right down to the patch on the shoulder. Then you have the ship in the background of the Voyagers art, which looks similar to The Frontier.

With all this in mind, Bethesda just came out with a video, officially stating that they have more Starfield content in the works, with one of them being an update to "space travel."

My theory is Hello Games and Bethesda are working together to implement some of the best features from each game.

Interior items for Corvettes [Question]

I might be missing something simple but I cant seem to figure this out.

When customizing the interior of my corvette I hardly have any options. Basically just a chair. However in creative mode I can see there are a lot of cosmetic items to choose from for the ship interiors.

How do I do unlock/find these items to build in normal/survival mode? I understand how to find and farm the ship modules, but not all the interior options available in creator mode

The Malevolence (Tutorial) [Ship Builds]

I was asked for a guide for my Malevolence-Corvette. There you go!

Total parts needed:

  • 1x landing bay, thunderbird class cockpit, mag field landing thrusters, antenna
  • 2x radar dome, deflector shield, high energy shield, arcadia sublight thrusters, ambassador sublight thrusters, albatross cargo tank, albatross sidepod, firebox fairing
  • 3x radiator casing, cargo link
  • 4x zenith class reactor
  • 5x speedbird cowling, photon cannon array
  • 6x speedbird dome section
  • 11x walkway
  • 13x hub, speedbird faring
  • 16x speedbird nacelle

Image 1: Start with the thrusters one tile away from the space station (important because of the total length). Add a walkway on top and the bay.

Image 2: Place all 13 Hubs and 3 Walkways as shown.

Image 3: Add all 5 speedbird cowlings and 1 speedbird faring (all the way in the back).

Image 4: Add 5 speedbird farings as shown and in the middle (column of the landing gear) place 4 walkways.

Image 5: Add 6 speedbird nacelles on the front as shown in the image.

Image 6: Add 2 speedbird nacelles towars the rear of your corvette. Add one speedbird dome section behind them (upside down).

Hola Viajeros!!! Tengo una pregunta despues de 298h jugadas en mi partida normal.
Quiero tener todos los objetos desbloqueados, me encanta coleccionar, trajes, cascos, items de mercurio..... y naves S con todo desbloqueado.
Entonces.... ¿que gracia tiene jugar, si puedo crear/comprar todo gratis en el menu de opciones? Ha llegado un momento que se me hace muy repetitivo el farmear aumentos de inventario o alguna cosa asi, y he acabado activando esa opcion. Ahora tengo mis naves al maximo, solo me falta alguna tecnologia X
Tambien he visto que puedes bloquear las opciones en tu partida y no podria tentarte esto.... Jugais en permadeath con esto activo? Cual es el interes de entrar al juego, buscar planetas/naves/fauna curiosos?

The atrocious glare and the star that's causing it. hope it's a bug and not intentional. showed up while in the "shadow" of a pirate dreadnaught as well.

On PC with ultra settings. curious if there's a setting I can set to minimize it or if I just have to avoid systems with this.

Certainly not perfect but it works. I really liked that engine block design over the Version 3, but the 3x2 fancy engine block was 18 pieces more then the V3 engine block. That 100 part limit is really killing me. The reason I'm not posting V2 is because I went overboard and made a 189 piece before realizing there was a part limit, so i got annoyed and deleted the thing since there's no way I'd ever get it down to 100

The 3x2 Engine design didn't work for me since the original was 4x2 so I made this version with a 5x2 engine setup with a boarding area in the middle of the two 2x2 engine blocks. Swapped out the middle wings with the turrets for 2 Arcadia wing...

Do you guys notice music similar to Cornfield chase by hans zimmer? [Discussion]

Some of the music sounds similar to Hanz Zimmers Interstellar music. I'm not complaining. In fact I love the music in the game. One part in particular, I hear the three notes from cornfield chase. I hear that same variation throughout the game. I love how it gives me chills has I'm descending from space. Hanz zimmer is a legend so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a nod.

Recommended PCVR headset for this game? [Question]

Hey folks! I know next to nothing about VR but I've seen gameplay in VR for this game and I enjoy as is. I was wondering if there's a good budget VR headset to get me started? I believe my PC runs a Nvidia 4060 and I'm not sure about the CPU but I can run basically every game I've ever played, from battlefield 6 to no mans sky. I run NMS on high and have 0 problems and 120 frames if that helps. Budget? I don't really know a whole lot about the vr market but if 300-400 can snatch me something decent I will.

Player returning after 4+ years humbly requests helpful hints & guidance [Question]

Longtime lurker, first time poster.

Watching all of your posts and videos have had me missing my NMS days, and this week's corvette-related update finally convinced me to load my save from June 2021.

I got lost aboard my own freighter. (Also, love what they've done with my local station, but... woah.)

About the only thing I've done thus far is to get the teleport chamber built aboard my freighter. (I was very confused when I teleported up to orbit and could not return to my base w/o flying down.)

According to a quick Google search, I've missed Frontiers, Sentinel, The Endurance, Worlds Part I & Part II, Prisms, Waypoints, Relics, Beacon, and now Voyagers.

So... I have a decent freighter and a big fleet surrounding her. I have reasonably decent ships, bases on a bunch of planets, greenhouses ready to be harvested, stuff stored away all over the place, and what used to be a decent amount of cash...

What would you all recommend I do now, and in what order? I mean, yeah, the obvious answer is, "Whatever you want to do," but what would you recommend?

Chonky Scimitar? [Ship Builds]

I've been testing parts the last couple days finding out what's possible, used some trickery to get these thruster fins pointed inward.

The stats reflect a bunch of slots that aren't showing the tech I have installed, some kind of UI glitch. Also noticed we currently can't reposition some of the base technology modules like we can in a normal starship - thurster, pulse engine.. the rest of the empty slot go dark when you try to move one. Makes it harder to achieve max stats.

Anyway. Spent quite a while getting maximum stealth sleekness with this build. The back end is reminiscent of Darth Maul's scimitar. I'm into it.

Stellar Glyphs Won’t Charge [Bug]

Just found my first portal, trying to charge the glyphs so I can use it, I have no problem charging all the glyphs except the ones that require stellar materials. I have copper in my inventory but I get no option to charge those glyphs. Anyone else face this issue?

All 128 Corvette Colours Reference and Glitch Colour Guide [Information Video]

Accessing the glitch colours is similar to the base-building colour glitch technique from Beeblebum's YouTube video. Please note: You have to first create a basic temp corvette build with the required basic parts and "finalize" it. You can't change the colour of any placed part to a glitch colour. You can only place a new part with the glitch colours. So changing the colour of a ship that's already been built means deleting it's parts and rebuilding (beware the ongoing deleted parts bug).

Instructions:

After finalizing a temporary corvette build, place a base part (like a couch or short range teleporter) on a visible part of your ship, then go back into corvette editing.

Highlight the base part and open the colour picker. Select the colour and texture you want. The shown textures of the base parts appear on the corvette modules, but instead the texture chosen here will translate into the corresponding texture of the corvette parts. So selecting a wood texture (#4) will be the metallic texture when placing a corvette part.

Then exit the colour selector and build a corvette part. The colour of the new part will be the colour you selected. This colour selection remains active as long as you keep adding corvette parts. The base part colour only has to be selected again if you open the colour selector or select a built corvette part of a different colour.

Apparently I destroyed the factory door and raided the factory before the quest asked me to, and... unfortunately that soft-locked it because it asks me to destroy the non-respawning door - and that specific non-respawning door. So I'm left to ask how to un-fuck it using a save editor. Thanks.

I don't really think the corvette is fully usable at the moment. [Discussion]

I absolutely LOVE the new corvettes in the game. Being able to leave the pilot seat and have your entire squad on the same ship as you is pretty damn cool but it's just not usable on most quests etc. So my major problems:

-No docking on capital ship, certain stations, and no new landing pad to support the potential size of the new ships. We need one or maybe even 2 dedicated landing bays (whether extending the hanger or an external carrier like bay) and "links" to be introduced to outlaw stations.

-Planet surfaces are now not flat enough to have good landing spots - planet generation rework required AGAIN to allow some plains on the surface to land. My more gameplay balancing problems:

-The "power" of the ship is VERY underwhelming. We have a much larger ship with much more weapons, reactor, and shield capacity - that should be reflected in gameplay.
My corvettes don't really have any more firepower or shields than my standard ships and about the same level of shields so it just ends up being much worse for combat because of how much slower it is.
The jump range should also be greater on corvettes - I mean the reactors are as big, if not bigger, than a standard ship.

-While the multiplayer crew concept is really cool the implementation is VERY half-baked - and that's being generous.
The ships don't feel like ships that are built for crew gameplay because there aren't auxiliary gunning options - like what's the point of adding ships that can support a whole multiplayer squad if you can't have your squad jump in on side or rear gunning positions or even workstations to regen shields and hull damage? Like what's your squad supposed to do? Stand around the ship in a battle? It just feels like a whole big pile of nothing at the moment, just a moving (limit) base and that's it.

Atlas Path Is Not Working :( [Bug]

I've arrived in the lush galaxy after completing the Artemis path, but I'm unable to initiate the Atlas path. It's not guiding me to the Atlas space station. I've already visited Polo and obtained the coordinates, but they're still not working. Any advice, fellow travelers? I am trying to finish my prerequisites for Purple Star Systems.

It got the contrarian in me thinking: has anyone (un)intentionally built a “less-aesthetically pleasing” (AKA hooptie/junker/janked-up) corvette yet? Something akin to a patchwork Geo with oversized spoiler and lifts. If so, let’s see some of them! I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, however, every time I tried to fly to a new star system with my friends, the Corvette shunts my friends out into open space in the last system I was in. Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem, or if it is in a new patch note that's coming out soon.

Derelict Freighter update idea [Suggestion]

So with the most recent update we got the ability to fly our character in space. This idea popped up in my head where we use that to more thoroughly explore freighters. Imagine giant engine rooms in a zero g environment or having the ship split in two and halfway through exploring you need to open an airlock to float over to the other half of the ship.

I have to purchase Corvette parts before I build? [Suggestion]

I prefer the system that's i place for base building - you only spend materials on items like walls and decorations when you actually spawn them. If you change your mind, you just delete the part and you get your materials refunded to you.

If you want to build a Corvette, you have to buy all the parts you want first. If you change your mind, you need to leave the build mode and sell the parts at a separate location. If there's a part you need, you have to stop building and go into the purchase menu to grab the parts, and you need to consider how many to grab before hopping back into build mode.

I think Corvette building should be like base building - all in one menu. You buy parts as needed, and if you change your mind, just delete it in the build mode and get refunded instantly. This system would allow players the opportunity to really play around with their ideas without getting punished for it.

Delivery mission gripe. [Discussion]

So I'm going through "Primary Missions" one of them is requiring me to do Gek missions. I talk to the mission person and pick up a delivery mission. They give me what I need to deliver, and I go to the planet I need to deliver it to. I get to the NPC and it says I have misplaced the item and I need to deliver a totally different item now. I'm confused since I haven't done anything else, went directly to this place. So I check my inventory, and the item is STILL THERE. If it's going to tell me I misplaced it at least make it disappear, now I'm angry about it. Like I just wanna go do the new stuff, but missions making me do 100 other things before I can take one step is putting me off again.

Lost 200-300h and expeditions [Bug]

Sorry for bad English, today i wanted to look at the new update and as i saw the savegames i wondered. I made a long brake but I remembered i had over 300 hours on my main savegame. But it showed only 90h. I started the savegame and it was curious, i had my exo ships, my freighter... my avatar didnt looked right and all my other ships and settlement were gone.

So i thought i get the things back from the expeditions but the game dont rememberes that i completed them .... it is like a timewarp my save game is on 90 hours with all ibgot their and i lost a lot of Ships money and the more important thing my completed expeditions i cant get back in no way....

Anyone with a similar problem? I play on ps5. Started back then on ps4 since launch. I had everything on my ps5 but now ... all gone...

Corvette has disappeared! [Answered]

So I naturally like many others hopped on, made my first corvette and flew it around a bit. It was a bit late so I docked it on my freighter and beamed back in. Neat stuff!

Aaaand I hop back on and it’s gone. Most things like this before have been a real easy fix and I’m sure someone has already figured it out.

Weekend Mission not giving destination [Question]

The Herbivorous Bloodshed mission is not giving me a designated planet to land on. I get jumped into a system that has a lot of players but I’m not given the approximate location of the travelers body to start destroying plants. Any fix?

After this update that brought something i always wanted, but i was thinking about what we can have in the future [Discussion]

I live thinking about the future of this game and future updates, i loved Voyager for bringing ships that we can use as a base and walk on them, since i always lived a nomadic style in the game, i never stayed fixed on a planet for a long time.

But what would it be like if they brought something like the one in the picture?

Worlds with different shapes, Halos, squares, broken worlds, worlds where the core is visible, or not just worlds! Something horror like cosmic horror perhaps, things like that!

How to work with Corvettes and Freighters? [Question]

Does anybody know how Corvettes and Freighters are supposed to work together? I landed my Corvette on that blue light signal thing above my Freighters bridge but I don't know how I then can move between them? And the corvette just floats there?

Would have loved some Docking Ports on the Hull of Freighters to dock your corvette and then use a teleport pad or something:)

Load game in Freighter and this is what i found [Bug]

Opened Game on Freighter and this was on my freighter. To fix this i just went to the teleporter and teleported to my Freighter. Video shows all. Also if you find your refiners empty when returning to you ship just teleport back to you ship from you ship. If you catch this problem when it first happens then almost always the refiners are back to normal. This is why i always check my refiners as soon a i enter, teleport, into my ship. I didn't edit, sorry just posted as is.

Stuck in cockpit of corvette [Bug]

I only have one bench chair and no matter where i place that bad boy i have no option to sit. I'm never getting out. My character is imprisoned in a cockpit forever now. Just here so that others don't feel alone.

Can't seem to visit other bases? [Question]

I've been trying to visit farms for some quick resource management. Every time I enter the (correct) coordinates, I find myself on the planet, but it says First Contact and no one has built anything there. This has happened on old and new bases and I'm trying to figure out why? For added context, I haven't been able to play NMS for the last few months (had my stuff in storage).

HELP, I'm stuck in the walls/exterior of my corvette! [Bug]

I don't know why, but the game loads me in the inside of my corvettes exterior, and I can't escape! Reloading the save worked once when it happened a few hours ago, but it happened again and doesn't work anymore. This is my main save. Does it mean I can't continue playing?? Does anyone have any ideas? Even the last restore point didn't work. :( See video attached.

So... I was farming nanites today, nothing too special. Then, I forgot to enter my ship or exit the game while I was doing something else and... Well, I died twice because of some random predators that I didn't even remember existed in that planet. I lost my whole inventory lol the most valuable things I had were like 2,000 tainted metal, 7 emergency signal scanner and almost 9,000 of basic elements and atlantideum and pugneum... Well, I was looking for an excuse to keep playing after crafting my ship, so I'll farm everything again, I have my ship, my multi tools and myself... At least this world, as cruel as it was, gave me a lot of oxygen plants.

I am a huge abandoned mode fan. I have been so busy I STILL haven't had time to play much with the new Voyagers update.

Has anyone noticed if the update added any improvements to abandoned mode?

Sure would be cool to create my own habitable ship and use it to explore the loneliness of space...

Cross play troubles any advice? [Bug]

Me and my friend are both on different consoles, he is on ps5 i'm on xbox one and xbox pc via cloud gaming (I have tried both same result)

We have both on both sides inserted each others friend codes in, I've made sure my xbox settings allow cross play and my nat type is open. He is appearing on my friends list in game when I access the options menu, however for him apparently all he see's for me on his side is a question mark, He cant join my sessions and I cant even see his come up when he's hosting.

Thus far as a new player I have had no playtime yet as I dont wish to play solo when the whole point of playing was for us to join each other and play together, Dont wanna spoil the fun

I have tried to join via cloud gaming and from the xbox itself both garnering no results

are one of us missing something? Is there anything we can do to remedy this?

How would NMS play on my M4 Macbook? [Question]

Hello, I have a 14" 24gb 1tb M4 Macbook (pretty over kill for me tbh) and I'm wondering since the games on sale, could my Macbook could run it well? I know that it can obviously run it but coming from a gaming desktop I'm intrigued. I mean I don't expect 120fps in general but if my cursor can move at 120fps I suppose thats enough for me. Maybe my Macbook's resolution at 60fps?

I'm mostly worried about overheating and not exactly damaging my macbook but deteriorating it. Ik Macbooks are smart and wont do it but if I do spend 20$ on a game i'm looking to play it and put the hours in.

Multiplayer functionality? [Discussion]

Building corvettes is cool and all but from the patch notes and hype it seemed like multiplayer was going to be front and center with this update/expedition. There’s a sense of “living out your Star Trek fantasies” but I think we’re still missing some huge multiplayer functionality especially in the space department of this space game.

actual crew roles. Basically whoever owns the corvette is a glorified taxi driver. I was hoping for things to do as a crew member like repairing damage or operating turrets. If pirate combat is a main way to get corvette modules, what is there for friends working together to do?

only the “owner” can pilot. If we’re in a group together, either one of us should be able to hop in the pilot seat while the other works on something in between planets. It’s not “our ship” it’s their ship and you’re just a passenger.

only the owner can build on the ship. We can build bases together but we can’t build ship homes together? It just reinforces that one person owns the ship and everyone else is a passenger.

Over all this is yet another feature that feels like it should encourage group play but is mostly for showing off the efforts of your solo grinding. Very disappointing and I hope they add true multiplayer elements. Let me build a ship from the ground up with my crew to explore the galaxy, fight pirates, or just hang out in something we can call “ours”

What functions did you think were implied in the PR material that are missing if any and what features are you looking for to make no mans sky “the ultimate space game”?

It feels like we’re so close but still stuck in shallow mechanics

Corvette cockpits unfinished? [Question]

I'm not sure if this is a bug that'll fix out in future patches, but the consoles in my cockpits aren't showing – the screens are just floating with no bezels or dashboard around them. Is this the same for everyone else?

I'll admit I have a feeling that they ran out of time to complete the cockpit interiors; the Thunderbird cockpit is particularly sparse. Seems a shame, considering all the work that's gone into the fantastic exteriors, because with their update and bug fixes schedule, I imagine what we have now is all we'll ever get.

Bits of base missing after update [Question]

Hi all As the title says, I came back after the latest update and noticed today (I played a bit yesterday) that some of the things in my base have disappeared.

I was showing a friend my base when I noticed. Its not a lot just some planters the gardening dude's desk and the exocraft guys bench and some decorations so not big deal to put it all back.

Did notice I had lost connection to the discovery server so not sure if that might effect it.

Have had a bug before where bits disappeared but will come back with a reload but that didn't work for me today.

Am I going to need to go through the annoying process of putting my posters up straight again, or will it come back when I get connection to discovery server again?

Also anyone else had bits disappear?

Trouble with menus not working inside ship PC VR [Bug]

Just started this game with only about an hour or so playtime, the menus that pop up when pointing at my hands work on the ground , but inside the ship it hardly works, I have to keep moving my hand around a lot and hope I get lucky and the menu actually pop up, is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I have both a PSVR2 and Quest 3 , I have the same issue with both headsets.

Slightly scary bug in my corvette. This wall is completely non-collision/pass-throughable, bout gave me a stroke when I fell through unexpectedly. More details in the post. [Bug]

So I saved and logged off in my corvette for the 1st time to see how it went spawning back in upon reloading. I did so the following day and this happened. I nearly shat myself when I just dropped outta my ship. >D. I did notice the "moon walk feature here saved me but also didnt engage properly either.

In the second clip you can see I tested the conditions a bit. I thought it might have been a bug related to me being in the build mode while it happened.

I didnt clip it but after this I also tried moving the ship bc I realized I had yet to do so after loading back in. It didnt change anything. I cant even select that wall slot anymore and as of this post its still this way. I havent had a chance to get into the build editor to see if I can fix it or at least replace the HAB or window. But I figured its best to post what I got at least.

Corvette lost [Bug]

So i was doing a side quest (In the deep) and i swapped my ship because when i summoned my corvette it was invisible and had no collision. So i go into my starship and keep doing the quest, try to summon the corvette again to see its COMPLETELY gone. not in the quick menu not in the space station just nothing. reloaded the game a couple of times, lost all the parts as well. Any ideas on how to get it back?

Ground vs. Space [Question]

I really like the way the publisher is improving the game and sticking with it and would like to really get into this game. I am wondering how much of the game is outside the ship vs in space? Being a pilot, I am not thrilled with the ship controls. I can make them work, but if the game is mostly a full time space sim, I would rather play other games that replicate flying better. I use the XBox One controller and there aren't any flying machines that tie yaw control with pitch control. I guess at least they let players invert the pitch axis. Thanks for any info.

I seem to remember that the video game Spore had a store to download other users' Creations. It would be great to see it with the ships in NMS.

If you're struggling to figure out an idea for a build, try letting the part names guide you. This was made primarily with "Speedbird" parts. The only named part that isn't Speedbird is the Supercruise aerofoils on the wing edges. This is the first build I did that wasn't primarily just trying to figure out the ship builder and I'm pretty proud of it.

Cannot get inside Corvette? [Question]

Am I an idiot? I’ve built my first corvette. It’s lovely! I cannot get inside. I tried saving and reloading. I bounced to a different planet and re-summoned it. I cannot get inside. Halp! 😢

So this happened. [Bug]

Corvette got bugged, now I go through it whenever I land anywhere. If I land on a station and try to call another ship, the Corvette disappears from the listed ships. If I try to edit the build, no pieces show up, everything is missing from inventory and tech as well. Can't even edit, shows a blank project, but doesn't let me place any piece. Now I need to re-create everything again, and I don't even have the pieces.

Also it was an S class, with 2 and 2 SC slits, so that will be a pain to remake. At least I got the modules back, which is something I guess. Welp there goes a good 6 hours of playtime between pueces and redoing everything

No Man's Sky "Kill Ceiling" removed following Voyager update [Information Video]

I suspected this was the case but good to have it confirmed. The base I have teleported to is on the limit of the maximum base building height where if you so much as jump your health bar will rapidly deplete.

Do it now and you go into "lost in space" mode which is good. Though flip side is that the build menu is also disabled once you breach the maximum height.

Motion sickness and vertigo [Question]

Hi all, I just purchased the game on Steam Sale. I know I get motion sick so I bumped up the FOV, lowered the settings for stutter, turned off camera shake and motion blur before I even started

I have 58 minutes in the game and I'm layed out on my bed right now with the worst headache and the room is spinning. The menu is moving all the time and not being static is killing me. Are there work around for this or should I just refund this game?

Can't recall corvette, ship image showing half built ship [Bug]

Every time i try to call in my corvette it says cant land here, even in a giant empty field. I skydived out of it and was unable to get back to it and now its disappeared.

I thought it might be worth mentioning that the image of my corvette at the toolbar at the bottom shows the skeleton of my ship but not all the pieces. Maybe this is causing it or is everyone else's like this?

Just curious if anyone has run into this and possibly has found a workaround.

So question about building Corvette ships? [Question]

How do you guys get so many parts for the ships 😭. Ive seen alot of cool ships here, and im wondering. Do you just run around the planets with scrap for hours until you get what you need, or what? Also how does the trading/bartering for advanced parts work? Ive noticed only certain ship parts can be used for bartering, but what decides how valuable a part is when improving the chances of having a successful trade?

Tantive IV proportions [Ship Builds]

So I've seen a lot of people attempt to ship in a lot of different ways. I think there's been a lot of really good ones, but I think the one thing everyone is a little off on is the proportions of the cockpit to the body of the ship and the body of the ship to the size of the engine. The main body of the ship for me started on the third floor if you're stacking vertically, to make sure that the engine mount is 5 high and the same amount of the engine is above and below the body of the ship. Let me know what you think; critiques are welcome as long as they're constructive, LOL!

So I'm stuck inside my corvette in space, the game thinks I'm inside the ship but I'm outside technically. Restore point and autosave both put me in the same spot where I'm stuck and because I'm in space I can't do much, I can't reach the cockpit to pilot it and crafting doesn't help because while a teleporter might work, I can't connect them to actually use them.

Firefly build [Ship Builds]

Thought I'd throw in my hat for my firefly build. Still tweaking and moving things around. The tail is a little off in scale and overall not quite round enough but I've got a bunch of parts to gather again. Not to mention parts that I have but can't use because of bugs at the moment. This is the MK III.

Interior is obviously not going to match as well but it's got the basics as best as I could as well. Had to thicken up the neck or there was no way to get to the cockpit.

Corvette Modules not Vertically Rotatable [Ship Builds]

I'm trying to build a corvette, but the Wings modules that I want to use can't be rotated vertically to face the opposite direction, which pretty much stops me from making progress on my build.

Now my engines are facing the wrong way to the wings (front of corvette shown in screenshot).

Has anyone found any work-arounds?

Bug: Cant summon starship active prior to and into 6.01 update (solution) [Bug]

Version: PS4

Loading into the new update my starship, the Starborn Runner, couldn't be summoned from the quick menu no matter how what I tried, even after switching starships and reloading the game. But I did find a solution. If you're also having this problem you can fix it by archiving the affected starship, save then reload the game. Take it out of archive and it will be fixed. Hopefully this helps others that are having similar problems.

The Corvette interior archways need to go. [Suggestion]

One of the major appeals of Corvettes is in them being a fully furnishable, fully portable base. Always been lukewarm on the prospect of buildable ships in NMS, but the interiors here are what sold me.

When I hop into this new mechanic, go in with the idea of building this snug, cozy, Guardians of The Galaxy ass home... I don't want every single section of my ship to be interrupted by these eyesore archways every three feet.

Now I get it, when building modular systems including these "cover up" pieces helps avoid problems like texture overlap, tiny seams between meshes but... frankly the arches ruin the Corvette interiors.

So I really think you should just do away with them. When two pieces of interior are adjacent, there should be no geometry between them whatsoever. If you absolutely need to mask some issue with the modularity, a barely noticeable metal ring, perfectly in-line with the walls and ceilings, would suffice.

But as is? The connecting arches are just bad.

Is there a way to expand corvette tech slots? [Question]

See title. I have the three full rows, upgraded to B class, nothing. Paid for a storage slot, wouldn't let me scroll down.

Am I meant to just use building pieces amd be judicious with my other upgrade slots?

I suppose if I could out all of my infraknife upgrades there would be no reason for anybody else to use any other ships ever so I'm not complaining, I'm jist wondering if I'm missing something

Almost . . . [Suggestion]

Love the Voyagers update. The ships are great. Probably spend a lot of time building out my Corvette and can't wait to see what comes next as far as additional build modules, functionality, and customization.

HOWEVER!!!!! the thing that is KILLING the game for me is the ridiculous weather effects and frequency. The frequent, repeated storms are an eyesore and ruin what is otherwise a beautiful game. PLEASE tune it down significantly. I miss the days when, on almost any planet, you could find a beautiful view (yes, even on dangerous planets). Now, it seems, on almost every planet, I'm constantly annoyed and pestered by badly rendered storms. There are other ways to telegraph danger to the player besides these eyesores.

Any advice for managing settlements? [Question]

I am an on and off player that is near mid to near end game progression that thought it would be funny to try to rescue disaster starter settlements (multiple negative modifiers and no positives or the like). While the slow crawl is fun to slowly balance and I don't mind the time-based progression, I really dislike how vague the UI can get with how much is progressing.

It wasn't so bad if I was just managing a single settlement but when you're running multiple of them, it quickly devolves in having to waste time running a full circle to remember which building you were upgrading. Yes, it will show up if it's fully complete but sometimes that gets gobbled up if your settlement decides it was time to also start a new construction project. That or sometimes the UI just refuses to tell me but those are bugs rather than a design problem.

The most ironic thing about the governing office is that it's only good for checking the policies and nothing else. I really wish something could be done about that "Manage all settlements" option on the office terminal because all it actually does is show you a very vague overview of the settlement and doesn't actually let you manage anything from the office as far as I can tell.

Am I missing something? Is there actually a remote way to see information because right now I am desperate for a more clear way of managing things. Or maybe there's a mod that targets this problem? Any help be it advice or recommendations is appreciated.

Help me capture a flying creature [Question]

Hello I have been playing no mans sky on and off since launch I have over 500 hours in the game over ps4 and PS5 and to this day I have no idea how to tame/capture flying creatures. I know you can do it I have seen people do it and seen people riding them. I have seen people riding the giant sand worms, any of the flying animals and the flying worms. Advanced Corvette Part Trading Bugged [Question]

So I just started building my brand new corvette, and when I was trying to trade for modules I bought a bunch of habs to use for trading (I had about three stacks of them). I tried only putting in a couple (not an entire stack) to get a 99% trade chance on the item I wanted. I accepted the trade, it went through and I got my items but then when I went to go trade for a new item for some reason instead of a few habs having been traded the entire stack was missing. I know for a fact I only put in a couple and so I tried the exact same thing. This time instead of just one stack going missing the remaining stacks all went missing. Does anyone know what could be causing that???

Workshopping ideas for more precise base decoration placement [Discussion]

Precision placement items in my base has been a hell fight since I started getting into it. I've used glitch building, mods, and nothing can really help me with pixel perfect, granular movement because for some reason Hello didnt feel like it? Very frustrating but anyone have ideas on this?

I was thinking of an AHK script that pauses arrow key inputs so each keypress is the bare minimum of the input. Right now base module movement inputs are using continuous input, sliding essentially. Which is so weird. Unfortunately I dont have much experience coding in AHK scripts so if anyone has tried this, let me know!

Alright let me explain. I love using the Personal Forcefield from the MultiTool to drag a player to your position. And I love doing that on afk player and put them in the Corvette. And now you got a friend who will travel with you.

If i try to name discoveries, since the new update, i can't turn off capslock. EVERYTHING I WRITE LOOKS LIKE THIS NOW in the game, and it doesn't stop, no matter what i do.

How can I locate a broken ship that I own? [Question]

It's in my collection.

I ran across it while looking for salvage parts.

Claimed it so I can scrap it.

I screwed up and didn't repair it before I took off.

I cannot summon it because it is broken.

I need to figure out how to find it or how to get it out of my collection. It's not really worth anything to me, but now its taking up space in my collection.

How fast to get the Corvette. [Question]

I just bought the game together with a friend and we really wanted to multicrew and stuff. We were doing the tutorial but we were getting bored. Are Corvette really deep into the game?

Looks like noone tested it in VR [Bug]

  • Previously the framerate sometimes went to single digits, but recovered in a few seconds. It no longer fully recovers and stays bad.
  • If your spaceship is moving you can't use the inventory, quick menu etc. as its finger pointer beam lags behind the moving ship. Fighting pirates and need to recharge the shield? Well, let's hope the enemy doesn't shoot you while you stop your ship!
  • Corvette starter cockpit aiming circle is in the wrong place
  • Corvette starter cockpit controls are too close to the body
  • Stood up in the corvette while stopped, could sit down again. Then I stood up but the corvette kept drifting a bit despite being at speed 0. Result: Impossible to use inventory at speed 0, couldn't even take a seat again

I really hope the upcoming patch fixes this. It is so much better in VR...

Holding down (E) on a prompt crashes the game. [Bug]

Specifically, Steps to reproduce occurs approx 1 in 10 times.
Move to any object that has a Hold-E prompt.
Hold down the E key to start the fill-up-the-circle animation.
When the fill-up-the-circle animation gets to 99.9% completed the screen freezes.
Then, the windows-app-crash-popup appears and the game closes.

habs not connecting at all [Bug]

i thought they just weren't (or couldn't) connect lengthwise, but when i deleted parts and got into the area when they were connected side by side, those ones were also not connected. has anyone else experienced this/ know how to fix it? i built a really nice corvette i just want to fly it 😭

Anyone else noticed corvettes overlapping in the Anomaly? [Question]

Hey Travellers,

I’ve run into a weird issue in the Anomaly and I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this.

When I park my corvette in the Anomaly, other players can land their corvettes in the exact same spot. This makes mine completely invisible to others. Kind of sucks, because I’ve spent a lot of time building it up and I’d like it to be visible, almost like a showroom where we can admire each other’s ships.

It feels like it should work like freighter/starship pads where it’s one ship = one spot, but right now it’s just overlapping.

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think Hello Games might fix it in a future patch?

Corvette no longer in owner ships [Bug]

Hello, I built a Corvette and I was trying to show my friend on Discord. I started streaming and when I loaded in my game crashed twice. The third time it worked and I attempted to spawn my corvette at my base on the water. When it spawned it showed up invisible, but I could still see the water splashing as if it was hovering over the water.

I reloaded my game (exited to desktop) and when I spawned into my planet it was gone. I looked at my ships and it wasn’t showing anymore in my docked ships. I went to the space station I built it at, went to the anomaly, and tried reloading many times to see if I could spawn it. No luck, is there something I’m missing? I spent hours building it and now it won’t even show up in my owned ships.. I didn’t do anything to swap or sell it

Has anyone else just been selling the Corvette build-objects they've been finding? They're worth a lot! [Discussion]

A little background info: I'm a "new" player, returning after 3 or 4 years cause of this cool new update. Started a new game yesterday, but messed it up early. So I started over again, and am actually farther than I was last time, and at a faster pace.

Anyway, I had no idea at first where to even start with the Corvette stuff. Until I found those yellow "Salvage" locations. The first thing I salvaged was 2 Torpedo Launchers, worth roughly a total 2 million or so, plus another item that was worth around 100k. Seeing how much those Torpedo Launchers were worth, I was like, "Hey, I need some quick cash!" So I sold them. Well, skip a couple hours and four or five more Salvage spots, and I collected roughly 10-15 items, PLUS a RARE SCRAP worth 2.5 million. I sold it all, and currently have 10 million units after 4 or 5 hours of playtime in this current save.

Yes, I might look back and regret doing all that when I want to make a Corvette. But as far as I can see, all the buildable stuff for Corvettes is pretty easy to get if you know where to look! So I was wondering. Is anyone else doing this too? Selling all the Corvette stuff you get immediately instead of keeping it around?

Anyone think it’d be a decent quality of life/cosmetic change to swap out the specialists and overseer at your base?

I’m stuck with the 2016 super tall NPCs, would love to be able to swap specialists out to ones that are more in line with the current NPCs!

Why is sharing a base still so limited? [Question]

Group of friends and I started playing again after all of the new updates, but found out when a base owner goes offline, there is no way to use the base anymore. You're locked out of most of the structures and cant place anything.

I guess sharing a base just isn't really a thing then? The game is supposed to be persistent, but base sharing is not. Definitely majorly disappointing to us.

How are yall getting so many parts? Also, can corvettes use regular ship upgrades? I tried to rearrange the modules to supercharge warp drive and pulse thruster, but i could only rearrange the corvette modules. Does this mean that i cant use regular ship upgrades?

My fighters ship color went from white red to white mustard-orange, how do I fix? [Bug]

Unsure when it occurred but it happened today possibly post patches, but my fighter use to be white and salmon red color, now it's turned more mustard orange. Apparently I cant just recolor it to fix? I've had this ship since nms launched. It's the original rasamama you start with so I'd like to be able to fix this over replacing it with a carbon copy. That doesn't match

No Star? [Bug]

Has anyone else noticed since the new update, the star body (Sun?) that systems orbit is missing? When I’m flying in space, and I’m on the bright side of a planet, I look up and there’s no source of light. When I land on the surface of a planet, there is a sun, but it is very large. I go to space, and it disappears. This has been consistent across every solar system I’ve visited. Is it something wrong with my game, or have others experienced this? I play on a Xbox Series X.

Manned Cannons [Suggestion]

The Voyager Update is sick and I’m loving flying around in a Corvette, scratching that spacer itch that the smaller starships and bigger freighters couldn’t quite get.

Especially since you can have other players onboard! However, only one person can fly the ship, leaving everyone else to… refine materials, or sort storage?

I suggest Manned Cannons, corvette parts you can find and add to your ship so when you’re flying your friends can be on their own guns shooting down pirates, or taking potshots at asteroids.

Little bit of Millenium Falcon vibes, but also would go a long way to making NMS into an interstellar Sea of Thieves, where small crews can work together even moreso than before.

August 9th, 2016, the game is launched, and as a laughing stock and a hate focus no less, teasers and trailers looking vibrant and revolutionary for a game, but as usual making the consumers feel like fools and piggy banks for a dream they want but never get.

It was a generic "every third planet is the same" game, and the community hated it. Developers could have decided "ok, thanks for the effort", but no, while others have have been climbing the throne of a great space adventure. The team behind No Man's Sky decided to ignore the challengers and make what they promised, and so much more...

corvette tech inventory [Ship Builds]

I'm upgrading my corvette with upgrade modules and I notice in my tech inventory it shows 3 boosters, 3 phton cannons, 3 phase beams but I only have 2 of each installed on the ship. is that a bug or am i missing something? Also, can we only have phase beam and photo cannon weapons on the corvettes?

Lost corvette and everything inside? [Bug]

Spent 3 hours in a default corvette grinding ship parts. A player flies over and one shot nukes me. Once I respawn my corvette is damaged and all items inside are gone. Thing is there’s no grave marker. Then once I flew away from the damaged corvette there’s no marker, and can’t summon it. Any ideas? Or is it a complete blunder.

Suck it, Starfield! [Discussion]

When Bethesda released Starfield, it scratched an itch that NMS was missing - true creative freedom in ship building. Despite the myriad issues with the game, I spent hundreds of hours on ship building. Eventually, I encountered the save file bloat issue (which prevents you from saving the game) and had to retire the game. I was a bit bitter about Bethesda's low-quality standard (subsidized by the modding community), as the save file bloat issue is a result of poor game design, and Bethesda has shown zero interest in fixing it.

Not so in NMS. While recent updates have been buggier than usual, HG eventually fixes them, and every update brings something new and interesting to this game. Then, out of the deepest black of space, HG gives us corvette-class ship building with true creative freedom. My nerdgasm was heard in the next county. I now have the best of both worlds with base building and ship building in one beautiful game. There are certainly a ton of bugs with this update, but I'm confident that HG will address them in the coming days and weeks.

I find myself starting to wonder how this game can get any better, but I'm sure HG will find a way to do it. As for Bethesda's Starfield, I no longer miss it. Thank you, Sean and the HG team, for your continued passion, innovation, and creativity.

Most players' corvettes are already massive, so wouldn't it be cool to have a dedicated hangar module so you (or other players) can dock their fighters inside your corvette?

No space station [Question]

So after trying this initially in not playing it for quite a few years I started playing this game couple days ago. I am currently on Rubhaka-Moqe. I seem to be stuck looking for antimatter in a place where it doesn't exist. I have to repair a drop pod with no information on where to get this antimatter thing and everywhere I look online says I should either a get it on the planet from where the signal came from because that's where the initial quest or mission sent me, or to a space station but this particular system has no space station so I'm a little bit lost because I chose to relax the mode of this game thinking it would just kind of be something to chill out to and now it's not that because I'm literally just floating in space with no directions whatsoever 😂. SOS

The Birth of Death [Ship Builds]

This is by far my favorite update. The completely custom ship from scrap! The fact you can walk around the inside of your starship while its flying! The ability to get out of your ship in deep space and boost through space using only your jetpack! The fact that you can park in the sky and beam yourself down and back up! For me this was a literal game changer and once again has roped me back in for numerous hours. I definitely have the coolest auto generated ship name. ☠☠☠

Tips for managing Corvette parts when building [Question]

I'm a returning player and getting refamilisrased with everything. The ship builder has a lot of potential. But one thing I can't figure out Is if there's a better way of having corvette parts accessable when building other than just stacks inside your suit/ship inventory? It feels quite clunky and restrictive

I want to play around with as many structural/cosmetic parts as possible but that means having loads of slots taken up and juggling around inventories. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Based on the original ship builder in the game I didn't expect everything to just be handed to you, but this feels like a quality of life thing rather than a pacing thing.

Salvage Barge - A great way to collect scrap [Screenshot]

I made this with just a bunch of random pieces I had. The whole concept is, you fly to the location of the scrap, leave cockpit and just jump put the front (or teleport down if you're elegant like that), grab the scrap, mark the next scrap, teleport back up fly to the next spot.

Way quicker for me than my exocraft.

The planet in the pics is nothing special. Just a rainy planet with not a lot of hills. Sentinels are not too bad.

I'm confused. Do the Thunderbird Landing Thrusters and Mag-field Landing Thrusters not count as landing gear? So if you choose to add either one, you will still need to put landing gear on somewhere?

Another corvette bugged parts post [Bug]

Is there any way to recover bugged parts that delete themselves? I have a bunch of duped parts in my inventory now that can't be used as well.

My save is only around 35 hours I haven't played a lot and pretty much spent all my units on corvette parts and have lost almost half of them now.

What are some easy ways to get parts outside of purchasing them?

Corvette module question [Question]

So I'm confused as hell and am really struggling to understand how corvette modules work. I get that we can salvage them but there's no way to craft them or buy them once we've found a new one? So if I want to use two of a module in the build I have to just keep salvaging until I find another? Or am I stupid and missing something? I'd love it if I could find a module and that unlocked a blueprint.

Is the game still extremely buggy or are my friend and I especially unlucky [Bug]

My friend and I got back I the game with the newest edition of corvettes. However in our time playing we have had frequent and chronic bugs diminishing or removing the enjoyment of the game. These include but are not limited to Not appearing on each others huds Client side lasers from our Minotaurs aimed at each other Freighters have never been able to be seen at the same time in the same system Freighter geometry being grievously inaccurate across clients (Client side models being kilometers from each other as well as non functional stairs, and one instance of duplication spawning two solid freighter models inside each other making a mirror maze like inescapable dungeon.) Corvettes facing errors during landing in corvette docking (including freighter, station, and pirate dreadnought (the last costing a chance to commandeer one) Quests jumping between systems (this was a planet in distress quest) Corvette geometry being grievously inaccurate (doors being replaced by walls) Boss fights being entirely client side Enemies being entirely client side Players being left behind during freighter jumps if they are in their starship during warp A magical size changing starship (image related) which has gone from smaller than my friends to the same size and on occasion larger

And many more I have likely forgotten. This has all taken place over a week and all on coop play. Is this expected of the game in its current state or should I be seeking remedies?

Ship parts measurement? [Question]

Sorta a newbie, been playing for years on and off, recently got it on pc blahblah and came back obsessed with this ship update but I'm wondering if there's any measurements for ship parts? Im trying to make ships as accurate as I can, and scale is a big factor for getting it to feel right for me.

So are there any measurements for the sizes of the parts of ships? Or would it he best to eyeball it?

Consolidate storage containers inside Corvettes [Suggestion]

Hello Games - can we please get a consolidated storage container? Trying to fit 10 of these new storage containers inside a Corvette is a pain. Just have one storage rack which is assigned a tier (tiers 1-10), based on the amount of resources required to craft it. Tier 1 would be equivalent to 1 storage container, Tier 2 would be equivalent to 2 storage containers, etc. Each tier would add an additional 50 storage slots, just as they currently do. As the storage rack's tier increases, a new storage tab is added. They would also consume the same amount of power based on their tier. This would save a bunch of precious space onboard, and would be ideal at bases as well. Storage racks could vary in aesthetics, based on how the player wants to use them. Maybe even have some variations as quicksilver rewards in the Anomlay.

New corvette building tech: build outside the base grid [Ship Builds]

I was trying to connect 2 pieces of my corvette without any visible parts but discovered something that may be of use to someone .

While most pieces will try their best to stay in the base grid that the game designed, smaller pieces (and some wing parts and others thin ramps) can and probably will clip into anything then can.

In the 2nd image is what's underneath the corridor, just an bunch of Air Purifiers, can it be anything else? Yep! after you place down few Habs , put place anything else small under then, then delete all Habs placed, which will leave the Air purifiers floating, at this point they'll all have really weird connection points which is half an block to the left/right and half block lower than normal , the normal ones being up and down, after placing the first Hab or Walkway the Air Purifiers will snap to left or right side of the Hab, just delete then after it so you don't have weird things inside your ship (also tanking the build limit)

PSA : The glitched out Air Purifiers that went sideways to put the Hab offset will not have an hitbox telling you that you can delete then (like they don't even exist), but you can just press X to delete then as normal.

Freighter Rooms Question [Question]

I placed a few freighter rooms and started to work on the outside of them. I have a few Fleet Command rooms and noticed they look different from the outside. The couple I placed down a while ago have a dark grey body and light grey trim around the top and bottom. The new Fleet Commmand rooms I placed are light grey body with red trim around the top and bottom. Obviously there are no variant options.

I'm just wondering if anyone else noticed this and knows what's going on? Could it have something to do with my frieghters paint job? I can't remember when I changed it, but it was a while before I started building these new rooms.

Anyone else thinks NMS is due for a mechanic consolidation/rebalance update? [Suggestion]

I absolutely love all the updates Hello Games has been rolling out, including the latest Corvette update. Thanks so much for that!

But I also think the game has reached the point where there are too many competing mechanics and redundancies. The game has so much content that there is no longer a worry about removing mechanics making the game more bare-bones (at least mechanics-wise).

For example, Corvettes can be hand-built, while smaller starships and freighters cannot, and frigates are a yet wholly new way of management. Wouldn't be nice if their ownership, construction, and control model was unified? E.g. all could be either bought as-is from merchants and then modified, and/or built from scratch, with their type, class, and rarity, controlling which parts are available for their constructions and what are their min/max stats, but customizable within that window.

Same goes for many ingredients, base parts, etc. Streamline parts and their effects, remove mostly duplicate items, remove items which are narrow single-purpose (and allow a more general part to be used instead). This will cut down a lot on racing to get some specific part, their management, and overall the players' cognitive overhead of managing a large fleet and number of bases.

Sometimes, less is more. I think before we should get more new major updates or mechanics, cutting down and unifying redundancies will help both players and the developers in terms of having a smaller surface area of core things the game has, which will in turn make it easier to balance and set the stage for the future.

Consolidated storage containers inside Corvettes PLEASE [Suggestion]

Hello Games - can we please get a consolidated storage container? Trying to fit 10 of these new storage containers inside a Corvette is a pain. Just have one storage rack which is assigned a tier (tiers 1-10), based on the amount of resources required to craft it. Tier 1 would be equivalent to 1 storage container, Tier 2 would be equivalent to 2 storage containers, etc. Each tier would add an additional 50 storage slots, just as they currently do. As the storage rack's tier increases, a new storage tab is added. They would also consume the same amount of power based on their tier. This would save a bunch of precious space onboard, and would be ideal at bases as well. Storage racks could vary in aesthetics, based on how the player wants to use them. Maybe even have some variations as quicksilver rewards in the Anomlay.

Textures that do not load. [Question]

Textures that do not load. I'm playing a 100-hour game I have on Xbox One. I have had this game since 2022 or a little earlier it may be. The problem is that the textures of the suit do not load, the helmet does not load as it should, you can see a dark picture. I also notice that suddenly there are very big drops in fps and in other games I feel that it is going better. Does anyone know how to solve it?

Complexity limit mod [Information]

Not sure if it's allowed but I wanted to let the PC guys know there's a mod on Nexus that removes the complexity limit while in the Corvette builder. I needed this mod so I could remove pieces after I had fully decked out the interior. It works great and Im stoked didn't have to start all over again for the third time.

Found another corvette bug [Bug]

Just in case someone else is experiencing the same issues. I have been experiencing a bug with the tech slot on the corvette. Each time I log on to play a new session, the modules in the tech slots get moved around, requiring me to rearrange them for optimal bonuses each session. I have also started having a cyvlotron ballista get installed (even though I never installed one) and suffers from. The bug prevented movement or removal of the module. Each time I log on, the ballista is also in a different slot and deletes the module that was there. The only temporary remedy to the cyclotron is a save editor. I have submitted a bug ticket. I'll update when I get a response. I probably wouldn't t mind the cyclotron being there if I actually liked using it, and technology slots weren't already at a premium with corvettes.

Corvette Tech Slots [Ship Builds]

I’ve just finished building my second corvette ship and maxed it to S class, with all available tech slots and by the time you add in all the standard upgrades, there’s no room for any x class modules or anything else. We need more tech slots or not filling it all up with a bunch of cargo modules and other junk.

Difficulties with coop [Question]

Forgive my ignorance, me and a couple of friends have just started into NMS quite late. We obviously all have our own bases on early game planets and we've worked out how to join each other however we can't see each other bases in the self build teleporter things and sometimes when I join a friend I can't get into storage or the biofuel reactor as it just eats the fuel and then displays empty. Is this just a quirk of the game or am I doing something wrong? We'd quite like to be able to jump between each other's planets and pool resources etc, but obviously we're struggling to work it all out.

Auto pilot bugging out [Bug]

Alot of the time I use the auto pilot it tends to spin out of control not going where I want.along with that there will be times my ship will just get flung and spin for a bit I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue

Corvette Off-Grid Building guide (with picture guide) [Ship Builds]

Did you know that you can build off-grid in the corvette build menu? Offsetting your pieces are simple (until the game is patched, at least):

Place any Hull Connector or Reactor.

Place any Exterior Decoration Hull Attachment or Defensive System on the side. You'll notice that most of those pieces don't orient correctly to attach to the connector or reactor. It bothered me until I figured out this trick.

Place any hab, cockpit, reactor, Hull Plating, or Hull Connector on the incorrectly oriented part to start the off-grid.

As soon as you've place the part in step 3, you can delete the parts from step 1 and 2 if you'd like.

I have noticed that when you finalize a build, the scale can increase by 2x or so. If you swap the docked ship and switch back the scale goes back to normal.

Corvette bugs [Bug]

Is anyone else having trouble with calling in their corvette sometimes? Also I have noticed that if you have two landing bays, the portal to teleport you back up to your ship doesnt work. And if you reach the build limit for your corvettes parts then place things inside of the corvette you can no longer change the colour or any of the pieces as it considers you as being over the limit

New-ish player: What can I do? [Discussion]

I've owned NMS for about 2 years but never really got into it until just a few days ago with Voyager. The scale of this game is incredible, and while I'm not intimidated I am left wondering: just what can I do? I see the sandbox aspect of it with base/ship building and I understand the "you can do anything" premise so what I'm specifically asking is how far can I go with this game's sandbox? Can I automate some resource gathering with bases? Can I make a life for myself as a pirate either against NPCs or other players? What are some cool things you have done? Finally, a smaller question: do resources become richer the closer to the core I am? The stars I'm frequenting right now feel kind of lacking, as if I'm still in the beginner area.

Corvette tech modules duplicating themselves [Bug]

For some reason my corvette thinks it has two cockpits installed, and four extra reactors.

I have one cockpit, and three different reactors actually fitted but the tech modules disagree.

I also noticed that after I fitted an infra-knife, the photon cannon and phase beam that were previously there are no longer fitted, they're no longer available for use either.

But after several hours I might be happy with it. The ability to add stuff on top of it is a nice touch (looking at you wayward cube) Also when building, cosmetic things you build inside count towards build budget so don't decorate till your happy with the build otherwise you gotta do a bunch of deleting just to change colors. Also lady's and gents don't forget to hit the regular ship scrapper and upgrade class and cargo slots as well as installing tech for regular ships

Base update? [Suggestion]

I've been working in my base recently, and have been experimenting with underground/cliffside style bases, and was thinking ti myself that it would be cool if we could get a ship elevator or something similar to where we can land our ships and either they land underground, or they move underground and have a launch exit similar to the freighter doors. It would also be cool to see a corvette landing pad be added in. Thoughts?

If you visit planets in NMS v6, you will soon encounter a new type of particle floating around the atmosphere. These are fairly large (when they are close by) refractive drops. They aren't rain though, as they float around nearly stationary. This is the byproduct of their introduction of the new refractive tech they mentioned in the release notes. They just could not stop at improving the clarity and image quality of windows. No, they had to put this ... stuff ... in the game too.

HELP [Bug]

I am trapped in my Corvette and cannot glitch my way out not reach anything to get out. I'm worried I just lost 300 hours of progress because of a bug. I tried reloading but it loads me into the same wall every time. I can't draw my weapon as it believes I'm inside, so I can't die, can't teleport, and can't glitch my way out. What do I do?

Friend damaged and lost his corvette [Bug]

Long story short we were dogfighting in the new corvettes over a planet and i somehow killed his character through the cockpit of his ship using my rockets. He and his corvette respawned halfway inside a mountain and it somehow critically damaged his ship to the point it cannot move. We later flew away together in mine and then could not find his again (of course) and seeing as it was damaged, he cannot summon it anywhere. Is there any way we can find his ship without spending hours scouring the planet surface?

TLDR: Friend damaged his corvette and we flew away, now he cannot summon it and we can't find it. Any suggestions?

has anyone been getting "Any Edible Bone" when trying to move a piece of their corvette? i keep trying to move a piece that i found but instead i get a bone when i select it. is this supposed to happen or is it a bug?

I can’t access the new expedition? [Bug]

I have the update downloaded on my ps4 and I get the notification card thing that pops up to let you know about the update when you load into the game. But when I go to the expedition terminal I don’t see it, I only see the completed previous expedition. When I try another save there’s just no expedition active on the terminal. Please help lol

Please make it so that the HUD displays which system our starship's power is diverted to while in third person view, like it does when in first person view. That is all. Thank you for the mind-blowing ship update.
