I cannot find the restored system in "In stellar multitudes" [Question]

I have completed all the required quests, and the anomaly( weird autophage space body" has already.. I already have the atlantid drive, and when I try to find the restored system, it keeps saying "target mission is in another galaxy". Do I need to warp to another new galaxy to activate it, or do I need to go back to the system where the dialogue happened?

I have never seen such a bug [Bug]

This happened after i traveled through a Portal. I just arrived and saw this. I couldn't get out of it. even if i went back to the main menu. After some time i reported the base which was there and then went back to the main menu and i was still stuck. I reported the base again and then got teleported out of the ground. Never seen something crazy like this.

Played a lot back around 2020 and want to get back into the game, I assume I should just start over? [Question]

Put about 50-60 hours into this game back around 2020 after it launched for the PSVR and really want to get back into it.

I still have my saved game with a lot of upgrades, I progressed pretty far into the two main quests (The Atlas one and uhh.. Artemis?) and around 100 million credits.

So much has changed though, I assume I’m better off just diving in fresh, or is there value in trying to pick up my old game from where I left. I think I quit right around when they launched organic ships (pretty sure I have an egg waiting to be hatched still)

I'm Galaxy Hopping and could use some advice [Discussion]

I'm in creative, so I can fix tech easily. I'm trying to drop a base in every Lush, Hostile, and Empty galaxy. I found a Portal Address that drops a Traveler about 3.5K from the center, but the loading screens take forever.

Can't find the scientist [Question]

So I've been on the "Expanding the base" quest for about a week now and I'm at the point where I'm supposed to recruit a scientist for my base. Through reading online I understand that I'm supposed to visit a Korvax space station to find the scientist but I have visited literally dozens of Korvax space stations and talked to everyone there and there have been no scientists. A couple other things to note: I have the "Expanding the base" quest selected and there is no waypoint showing up at all. I also have tried reloading multiple times. Any ideas?

It would be great to have a refinery that automatically grabs resources for processing. [Discussion]

One of the most tedious parts of Runaway Mold farming is having to refine it into nanites, with a single stack of 9,999 taking 20 minutes. I would love it if there was a special refiner (say available only on the freighter) where you could select an option to have it continuously grab a resource of your choice from a container on the freighter to process it and leave the processed material in the same container. I only thought of this for the Runaway Mold thing, but it would be awesome for other recipes. What do you guys think?

Is it possible to check which Expeditions you've done besides your unlocked rewards or actually looking at an irl calendar? [Question]

Long time subscriber, first time poster.

Stupid question, but yeah. I've save edited my game a few times to get rewards I hadn't actually earned, but I'd like to see which Expeditions I've actually done. I know I had done some of the first couple when they originally dropped, and everything that's been available since late 2023.

Building on collided planets [Question]

Hello everyone. There's a build issue on collided planets. Can I build two bases (each on the each planets) as one base? I mean it should be a soft transition between both of them. So I could walk from red one to white one

I saw (and was wondered) some user built that soft transition. As I remember, he was able to walk from one planet to another. But there was a short distance and their orbits were close, so those planets weren't collided. But mine are.

I've already built three bases there tho. I can 'jump' from one planet to another. Every time I do this I fall though textures.

Some feather request ideas… [Suggestion]

I was thinking while playing today, this game has come a long long way. Many features that weren’t even a concern are now a staple of gameplay as we know it, but there could be a few QOL additions that would make it that much better. A ‘Visited Systems’ favorite system or otherwise some form of separating systems that you have settlements/ bases on would be HUGE. I had a few more ideas but can’t remember them now that I’m writing this. Sean if you’re reading this, your team has done well and I’m sure I speak on behalf of many of us we really couldn’t ask for more especially considering where it started. This game has become something really special and even though I don’t have much time to game nowadays this is always my go to when I hop on, especially with the steam deck (how it runs so well on that idk but props to you guys). Curious what other little features you guys think should be added that we don’t see.

Beacon Update - System Upgrade Achieved [Information]

Logged in today and saw that my system economy was upgraded from 1 star to 2 stars. I'm pretty sure it was not related to happiness as that was maxed out about a week or two ago. It also wasn't upgrading all buildings to S-rank as I still have one to go. Pretty sure it's a result of maxing out productivity in the settlement, or perhaps that combined with happiness. Also wasn't population as that's at like half capacity.

Curious to see if having multiple settlements in the same system with high productivity will further upgrade the economy. Going to play with that next.

Struggling with endless glitching, need base building advice [Question]

So TLDR, building a nice base constantly feels like I have to outsmart the game's weird restrictions and quirks somehow and it's really annoying.

Here's what I'm building:

I would consider this a medium sized base, at the bottom right there is a hole which leads to an underground exocraft garage. And that's where I'm a little lost. I am trying to dig out the underground garage and terrain I certainly removed before keeps popping up again, either visibly or as phantom collision. Speaking of collision, some floor tiles in cuboid rooms seem to randomly disappear, regular alloy floor tiles lose collision for no reason, causing me to fall through the floor, flora and fauna keeps spawning below the floor, and it's just a constant struggle to get the game to act the way I want it to.

So my question: I know for a fact that there are giant, beautiful and complex bases out there which have none of these problems. What can I do to avoid these weird glitches and bugs the game keeps spamming at me? After all 95% of building parts seem to be random decoration pieces but what good are they if the game seems to struggle after a couple hundred floor tiles and walls?

I'm just spitballing here because I know nothing about the inner workings of the game (but i'd love to learn more if someone knows more) but there seems to be the "restore" function in the terrain manipulator, so that means that the game somehow needs to keep track of all changes made to the native terrain, in case it needs to undo them. What if it was possible to "rebake" the edited terrain, making it impossible to restore, but at least these stupid glitches would stop?

First settlement mission stuck [Bug]

I think my settlement mission is bugged but I'm not sure. The indicator suggests there is a settler I cant interact with inside the center structure, and the panel suggests that applying for overseer is not available due to an emergency. I have disabled the planets sentinels but nothing changes. The town is empty and the mission says talk to someone. Id love some suggestions since I cannot proceed.

I recently thought about creating a random generator just like an experiment. However, I can't even imagine how I can implement it using logical elements. Only the use of LFSR comes to mind, but it seems to me that there is a simpler and more efficient way.

Help I can't get the game to run without it crashing in vr. [Bug]

Freighter Issue (Switch 2) [Bug]

Anybody else having a problem with the Freighters’ rooms not loading in? I’ll look outside the control room, and it’s like I’m entering Space. I’ve tried using the build mode, and that works for some of it. Though, even then, some items, like crops, don’t load in completely. Have also tried using and aborting Charting a Course for the Freighter, with mixed results? There a workaround I’m not familiar with?

How the heck do I unlock the Autophages [Question]

I’ve been playing this game for a while now and have been absolutely grinding the story missions and I haven’t been able to unlock Autophages. I did the mini sentinel buddy quest that comes with settlements reading somewhere that it would send me in the right direction but quite frankly I am stuck. I built a GIANT battery factory to help people with their permadeath runs [Screenshot]

So after having “finished” my permadeath run (got the trophies), I decided to pay it forward by building a facility to provide players with the most important items they need during their own runs. Batteries!

This factory allows me to mass produce mainly Ion Batteries for protection module recharging, but also starship batteries for shields and life support gels.

It also happens to be the biggest base I’ve ever built! So big that if you stand at one end of the main building, the other end won’t render.

Here’s some fun stats:

Resources The factory is provided rusted metal, oxygen, and cobolt by mines directly on site.

— Rusted metal: 2 A-class deposits provide a total 3,272/hr units of rusted metal. These are refined into ferrite dust for ion batteries (5 per battery), at a ratio of 1:2

— Cobalt: An A-class deposit provides 1,592/hr units of colbolt, used directly in ion batteries (10 per battery)

— Oxygen: An S-Class deposit provides 1,310/hr units of oxygen. These are refined into carbon to power the small refiners and as a component for the the production of life support gel.

Unfortunately, gold (starship batteries) has to be shipped in from an off-planet mine, and tritium (starship batteries) and di-hydrogen (refined into jelly for life support gel) have to be manually farmed.

Infrastructure

— Factory: the main factory occupies a footprint of 10,064u squared, with a total usable floor space of 16,848u squared across two levels. With an interior height of 4 stories, this gives the building a total usable volume of 161,024u cubed!

— Complex: the entire complex, including factory and mines and mining and power infrastructure, occupies a total planet area of 841,082u cubed.

— Power: Power is provided by an A-Class electromagnetic field hosting 71 electromagnetic generators....

My Inventory Got Filled Up With These! Decommissioned Circuits. First Time Playing Since Beacons Update Launched. [Question]

Tonight is my first time logging on since the Beacons update launched. The remainder of my exosuit inventory, and a small portion of my ship inventory were filled up with Decommissioned Circuits.

My game loaded up at my last save point where I landed my ship, and I got the "Inventory Full" notification instantly.

Something like this happened many updates ago when the inventory system got changed. You logged in to a ton of tech uninstalled and deposited into your inventory.

Any thoughts as to why this happened?

Returning player GLAD TO BE BACK !!! [Question]

Hey yall, super pumped to be back. Clocked a good 40 hours on my previous save. Got a c class freighter. A b ,2cs and an S freighter. A b class solar ship. A c class Sentinel interceptor that looks banging. I'm on top of the world. Worked hard for my 25m units and 4k nanites. Mostly want to just say how happy I am to be back and hoped you guys could answer a couple of my questions I have What is the best way to get more ship tech slots ? My solar ship is my favorite and doesn't have many. What should I look for in the galaxy map to find a lush planet for my 1st base ? Any way to tell before warping? Do you guys use your freighter as your base or havea legit base ? Right now I have 1 settlement that's producing resources and had my freighter in that system bcuz I only have the warp drives on my ship. Really want to build my 1st real base as ive just been exploring.

Right now im kind of exploring systems and planets but don't have any mining operations or anything going yet. I have a good amount of resources in my freighter base but constantly am going back and forth to stash away my resources until i can get more storage on my exosuit !

Really want to find a nice planet to set up home base and really explore and set up farms and all that good stuff. But dont really know which resources i need ti be farming. Like activated Emeril/ cadmium / indium sounds nice ?

So weary of exploring the universe I need a home base. I'm kind of a noob and have 0 glyphs ive never hit a black hole never done an expedition or a nexus mission jusy been upgrading my reputation with guils and stashing resources and stuff ! Im loving it as a dad its the perfect game.

So, in my autophage settlement I took the construction of a large habitation unit but in the site when you normaly put the materials there is not the terminal/option and instead on the middle of the settlement is where the marker is located and no, i can't do it from there. Any help?

Settlements in multiplayer [Question]

My wife and I have been playing together and she became the overseer of a settlement whenever I join her and go to the settlement any new buildings she built as overseer are gone on my screen but still there on hers. Her character starts floating 3 to 4 feet higher than mine on my screen and im in the floor on hers and all the settlement npcs disappear from my screen. I also can't find her settlement teleporter on the list any idea on how to fix it?

I don't know how to get back to my base. [Question]

I'm completely new, this is my first game, and I went straight to explore space to see if I could go to another solar system. The thing is, now I want to return to my base when I find out I need an upgrade for my ship to go to another star. Now I'm in the middle of nowhere. Every time I move the mouse to go to the planet, the icon goes in the opposite direction.

I don't know how to go to the planet. I'm sure it's super easy, but I'm just starting out. Help

What is the current state of multiplayer? [Question]

Hey all, sorry, don't quite understand the current state of the game after all the crazy updates that have happened over time.

I bought this game on release, and like others back then, was underwhelmed and kind of dropped it. But I did follow all the updates over time and the game definitely became exciting sounding again, especially on the improved multiplayer.

Wanted to jump back in and play with my son, but I don't quite understand the state of the current multiplayer, I know it has received some significant changes since launch.

So let me just ask, is it currently possible to start a brand new game and immediately invite my son to play with me? I seem to recall the opening of the game slapping you on some random planet and your little ship is busted and you have to find some stuff to make it work.

At this point, can we play together? Or do we have to progress to do so?

And what happens when we can play together? Does the game progress both our characters? Or is it like the host makes the progress and the extra player is some sort of "guest"?

If I choose the custom gamemode of an abandoned universe, will I never be able to visit purple star systems? [Question]

Have they changed things, or are purple star systems still ONLY unlockable through doing hours of questlines? Even when having Hyperdrive System Access set to Unrestricted, I remember still not being able to visit, or even see, purple star systems.

Does this mean that if someone plays custom and chooses an abandoned universe, where there aren't quests, they will never ever be able to unlock/visit purple star systems?

Settlement Production Timer / Decision Debt [Question]

My settlements sometimes give me decisions where they accrue a small amount of debt (usually between 5k-50k).

But I've cleared the starting debt and they are producing. When I make the decision, they go back into debt temporarily (timer says 15 minutes or so). Does that 15 minute period of debt reset the day+ long production timer?

If it does, I might just never make decisions because they will just keep resetting my production timers.

Cannot find the last mineral and last plant on a planet [Question]

I’m on a radiation world with rings and I’m doing the mission from the space station fella to scan everything. 6 critters, 8 plants, 10 rocks. Creatures I got in under 5 minutes. I have to find ONE plant and ONE mineral still and I have tried EVERYTHING.

I’ve gone in plenty of caves, they all look identical. The planet has zero water, so no underwater specific species. I’ve tried finding low spots, craters, mountains, plateaus. All have had nothing new to scan. I pass over everything I’ve seen before just to be sure it hasn’t changed names. I’ve flown back out to space, circle around the planet, and landed again multiple times. I’ve searched at day and night. Still nothing.

What am I MISSING??

No Mans Sky Switch 2 is a Broken Catastrophe [Bug]

15 crashes so far! 15! Never have I played a console game that crashed so much.

No cross save, no settlements (they don't work) and a crash/force close about once an hour. Last night it was 3 crashes in 1 hour.

The developer has ignored every mention of the problems, no mention of a release date for a patch. It basically doesn't exist to them.

They post tweets about updates for the other versions but ignore the Switch 2. It's been out for 17 days now. You guys praised these devs a lot, I'm not seeing anything worthy of that yet.

Mission glitch [Question]

They nailed Switch 2 - but where's our update so we can cross-save? [Screenshot]

This screenshot is from my Switch 2. I can't play my main game as my Steam version overrode the Nintendo version, which seems to have remained unchanged from launch version a couple weeks back.

Love what HG has done here and decided to start a new game just to take it all in but I won't lie, I'm itching to play my Steam game on the go as the Switch 2 version is just so lovely.

Is this going to be the usual pattern for updates on S2?

Is there an idiot's guide to eggs anywhere? [Question]

I'm quite comfortable with the rest of the game, but one area I've completely neglected is what I'm supposed to do with eggs and the egg sequencer.

I have a bunch of different eggs from expeditions just sitting there, and a quest directing me to the egg sequencer. But I have a vague understanding that you use it somehow to get different creatures for... Something... And I'm also nervous to "waste" these expedition eggs (that yes, are currently sat doing nothing at all) by using them in the wrong way.

I also didn't do anything with living ships yet, and I think one of my eggs might relate to that based on things I read here.

So can anyone please give me a simple breakdown of the egg mechanics, or direct me to one?

Ship Collecting - Favorite Ship Types and Why? [Discussion]

Gods above do I LOVE Dragonfly Interceptors. There isn't enough room or storage for all the ones I want to collect. I've been debating creating a second save JUST to collect more. They're just so perfect. They look fast, the FEEL fast. I'm in love with the style and in the coordinate exchange subreddit, I keep seeing more I want to collect. Such pretty colors and variants, I melt scrolling through them. I'm slowly but surely filling my saved posts section with nothing but Dragonflies.

What's yalls favorite ships, parts on them, and why? I wanna hear what makes you a fan of your favorite ships!!!! Show me your best/most loved/favorite ship you use! Gush about it! Tell me why it's so important to you!!!!!! Show me all of your lovelies!!!! Starships and our love for them don't get talked about enough imo.

P.S., I wish the cold storage for ships showed a preview of them, so many that I get mixed up which is which :'(

Hey guys, just finished grinding the autophage questline, so I decided to earn the void currency to get some cosmetics, but I can't find it anywhere on the appearance editor, the autophage race isn't showing up either, it appears blocked. does it have something to do with it?

worth to mention: through this questline I think I also unlocked some sort of sentinel backpack but I couldn't find it anywhere either I'd appreciate the help cheers

So, has anyone else's PS5 been cooking itself since the last patch? [Bug]

I've already made a report to the devs but I genuinely wanna know if it's just me, since everyone seems to not have any issues.

Warping to a new system almost always gives me the "high temperature" alert, and 3 out of 4 times it shuts down completely.

To be clear, the console itself is recently cleaned and has plenty of airflow.

It's usually like, as if whatever happens when the game loads new assets (in this case after warping, or entering a freighter), something makes the fans spin like crazy for a few seconds, and then things calm down immediately.

Putting the game in "quality mode" just crashed it again as I'm writing this.

No matter what I do with this Autophage settlement the maintenance cost is always double the production. I just "upgraded" a building from B to C??? You read that correctly.

Apparently all they want to do is gamble and sit around their scrap camps, but I guess that fits considering they are a nomadic race self-built from literal trash.

My pre-Beacon Gek Settlement is flourishing despite the fact that I utterly ignored them for a very long time. I haven't even done much with that settlement and despite the fact that all they seem to do is ask to have yet another party, production is booming and they've reached A Class very quickly.

nintendo switch 2 cross save [Bug]

i bought nms as a game to play on my switch 2 that wasnt mario kart or zelda that was a specific switch 2 game. at first cros save worked for a little bit when i first opened the game and i played it while out but when i got home i booted up the game on my ps5 and it worked fine then when i whent back on my switch it kept saying the save is from a more recent version does anyone know a fix?

I often read that people lose saves, after they played for millions of hours. it's a bit of a shame that this situation happened to me, and I thought to ask more experienced people how you deal with it, in advance?

I play on PS5. what could I do to protect myself from losing my save ?I mean some external saving it on a medium or changing the name and, for example, saving such an updated version once a week ?

Does anyone of you who play on PS5 have such a proven method?

I am surprised the procedural dungeon tech from derelict freighters is not used on planets to add more interest to planet exploration [Discussion]

No man's sky has the tech to do procedural dungeons, and I am amazed that they locked this behind a very difficult to find derelict freighter missions. It could be much better used to explore ancient temples or whatever on planets and would add interest to planet hopping. There is so much they could iterate with this.

I came across a small visual glitch when warping to a new system, it flashed "hermetic seal discovered" on my 50 hour save and it had a weird glyph icon, it's kinda cool to think that technically it could be canon. the suit could just be glitching out because of the warp

100% GPU usage [Question]

Hello Didn't play the game for half a year. Decided to check out the new update. Game starts using 100% GPU with either fps loss down to 25 or unplayable level of smearing with frame generation. I have laptop with core i7-13650HX and GTX 4060 8 gigs. Didn't have this problem 6 months ago.

Sentinel Attack in a different System than the Settlement itself [Bug]

So I opened nms today and spawned next to my space ship in my Settlement because thats where I set my last save point (with help of the spaceship)
I instantly get greeted by a mission telling me that the settlement I'm in rn is under attack, but i dont see any sentinels
i go look in the settlement administration terminal and it says the sentinel alert level is 100%
but when I go to the teleporter and the star map they both insists that my settlement is in a completely different star system?!

Experimental tower and a fishing spot [Screenshot]

Found a paradise planet in Hilbert, no crazy weather or sentinel activity. So I started building a somewhat chaotic and very poorly planned tower. Trying to work my way through the Base Computer missions and unlock everything. Also I found an epically beautiful fishing spot. To any player who is feeling bored, I ask have you tried fishing yet haha? Cause it is satisfying not gonna lie.

I'm loving that new updates are expanding on old systems [Discussion]

A big problem the game has had for a while is that it kinda just adds stuff and then never really touches them again so its been really refreshing seeing the latest updates expand on older stuff like the changes we got to ocean worlds a few updates ago and the settlement update we just got. I hope this trend continues for some of the other neglected systems in the game

Paralysis mortar makes you literally invincible [Discussion]

For context, I am currently in the mid-game on my permadeath run and just discovered the paralysis mortar and WOW. Can we talk about how OP it is?

For reference, I used to struggle a lot with the hard frame battle mech which appears at wave 4 in sentinel fights. When fighting it, I often got my shield upgrade modules destroyed very quickly and I could just flee at that point. I am alwas using the neutron canon maxed out with upgrades as my main weapon. As soon as I got this defensive weapon I rarely even got hit at this point which I think is just SLIGHTLY unbalanced. You can just throw a stun grenade, shoot with the neutron canon ones, chuck out another stun, quickly recharge and so on.

Am I the only on feeling this way? let me know :D

The most useful feature HG won't add for resource extraction: Resource Teleportation modules. [Suggestion]

I love resource extraction.

I love dropping down a base computer, locating mineral and gas deposits, and using base extending techniques to build "mega resource" bases that extract and store every resource a planet has to offer. I have a base on a toxic planet that has Cadmium, sodium, ammonia, oxygen, and radon. All piped into a single base. There's even a string of short range teleporters that takes you to a nearby portal.

But you know what I hate? Manually Visting my bases. I have to go to my base teleporter, teleport to the base, manually collect all the resources, then teleport away.

I don't ever want to actually visit these bases. I just want their resources. So here's my idea for something HG will probably never add: Resouces teleportation modules.

In your build menu under advanced technology, there will be an option to build a "resource teleporter" and a "resource panel". The resource teleporter will need to be connected to a network with supply pipes and will require it's own power source. Only one resource teleporter per network can be used. The resource panel will only be able to be constructed at bases or inside your freighter. They could limit you to a maximum of something like 20 resource teleporters per save file (just like storage containers). Just to make it easier to code.

Example of how this would work: I build an oxygen network that mines 1000 oxygen an hour and stores 10,000 oxygen. After connecting a resource teleporter to the network, I can then access all 10,000 of my extracted oxygen from my resource panel. No matter where I am in the universe.

For anyone in permadeath, survival mode, or just likes to craft tons of stasis devices, this is a game-changing convenience. No longer do you need to fly to several bases to gather resources. They are all available from a resource...

So I had gotten the quest to save a settlement and I ignored it and decided to go straight for the atland settlement. Upon reaching the atland sentiment there was no atlins or even sentinels. Now every settlement I go to has no settlers, zero, zilch, nothing. I have gone to many planets and used plenty of sentiment maps as well as dissonant settlement maps. What do I do?

This weekend’s taming creatures quest was awesome! [Discussion]

I did it with my main save and then I started a new game and also did it on that cause I was bored. For my main save I did not need any help, just landed did the stuff and left.

But for the new game all the player bases everywhere made a huge difference. I did not realize that landing on a landing pad does not use any launch fuel when taking off.

All the free resources definitely boosted my new game. I really liked the guy who built a tower base on the neighboring planet next to a volcano. What a beautiful base with a stunning view and you aren’t affected by volcanic eruptions.

I even picked up an S class sentinel ship on another planet in the system because it was marked with a communication bubble. A single Nexus mission jumpstarted my new game.

I just wanted to say thanks and I appreciate the community :)

Vulkan’s Volcanic Voyage [Screenshot]

By far, my favorite activity in No Man’s Sky is taking pictures. I’m not sure why it only dawned on me recently but volcanic planets are fantastic for photography. The combination of volcanoes, smoke, ash, embers and burnt out trees creates such a wonderfully moody environment.

I like all of the various volcano colors in the game but I find red to be the most striking. To that end, I went planet hunting for a red volcano planet with water and after quite a few system warps I finally found one! Vulkan is the admittedly unoriginal name I created for the character I designed for this voyage but I sure do love the way he looks on this planet. Presented here are some of my favorite pictures from his travels.

Trade Terminals Not Restocking for months?? [Question]

Hi Reddit people!

I'm an avid NMS player, particularly when I travel. I play on a MacBook then. I have not logged in for four months. One of the first things I do when I log in is a run my "trade route."

My trade route is seven systems with a simple trade base built on a trade station in each system. I fast travel to the base on the trade station, go to the trade terminal, buy up all the valuable trade items (the items with green "discounts"), then I fast travel to the next system where I trade them for a profit. (Many people did this. In fact, I learned from this Reddit!)

Today, after not logging on for months, I thought I'd run it before I did anything else. But when I went to the first station, there was nothing there. All the "green" items were set to 0 or 1. Curious, (thinking maybe someone else was doing the same thing), I went to the next system. Same result. Next system, same result. And so on.

I seem to recall I used to do this about every other day. Has this been changed?? Do trade terminals no longer restock? That would suck. I have to be wrong, but I can't explain it any other way if I haven't logged on for four months.

Any help would be cool!

Hello everyone I am pretty new to the game and I found out that you can scrap ships to get parts to make a new one, what I have a question about is I found a robot ship with a ton of storage and upgrade slots but if I were to select that component when I scrap it would I get all of that storage and upgrade slots on the new ship? How come selling these ships doesnt increase my units like it says it would [Question]

Ive sold three sentinal ships. A class said it would sell for 54,000,000 units. I think the other said it would sell for 24,000,000 and the last for 15,000,000. Neither one of them increased my units at all.

The clip is short, you can only see my units before selling the ship for a split second so pause the video if you need to, but after selling the ship my units didnt increase at all

79,960 Nanites a round from full stacks of Mould.

Have I lost stuff in them?... one time I forgot and warped my freighter and lost about 4000 Nanites; but, for the most part this works well for me! 700+k Nanites and counting.

Red Experimental rifle in Aptarkaba (S class location marked) [Screenshot]

You'll find this as an A class in the space station (it's in the space station's MT pool). Second screenshot shows the slot layout (for those that care about SC slot layout, this isn't the tool for you). Third screenshot shows the coords on the planet (planet name shown in fourth screenshot).

I left a comm ball at the location, as well as an orange save beacon. If you portal in, the tool should be there since it's in the space station/system pool and that's the one that's active when you first arrive in the system. If, for some reason, it's not this tool, just fly to the space station, exit your ship, then reload your restore point. Fly back and it will be there.

As a bonus, if your theme is red, you can also pick up a red flying beetle on the frozen planet (fifth screenshot).

I just got my first autophage settlement, and wants me to send people out on a expedition. Before the update, sending people on an expedition meant certain death. Is that still the case because I only have 20 people in my new settlement and can't afford to lose anyone.

How to get back into No Man's Sky? [Question]

Hey Everyone, I'm not sure if I am the only one that feels this way, but the amount of stuff that has been introduced to no Man's Sky since I last stopped playing is overwhelming.

I looked at all the updates that have come out since I stopped playing (Before Pets were a thing, and playing with friends was just announced) and I realy want to start playing again. I Loved playing this in VR. I have been playing it for a few days now on desktop to get the hang of the game again. I feel like I learned a lot of the controls again since there is a very helpful reminder that pops up on the bottom right of the screen.

My question of how to get back into No Man's Sky comes from me not knowing what to do next. I checked my missions and I have absolutely no idea what i should be doing. I dont see any markers on my compass that tell me where I should explore, and A few bases I had with underground farms have been deleted so Im not even sure if I was supposed to be farming or something.

I've Spend most of my time Flying around a solar system and taking on pirates, but now I am truly lost. How do I get back into the game? How do I find all those cool missions they just released.

I know I sounds hopeless and someone is just going to tell me to start a new save, but I dont want to play the whole story on a new save just to find out later it was some small thing I needed to do to play the missions. what are my options here?

TLDR: Played the game years ago. Started playing again a few days ago because the update looks cool, but I don't know how to get to those levels.

Has this been attempted before? [Question]

I want to make a challenge where I beat all 5 waves of ground unit sentinels only using a base mining beam without any upgrades to my shield, damage (sentinel weapon stuff) and without any other secondary weapon like a geology canon. I am still unsure if I allow myself to use a personal force field...

Anyway, I wanted to ask if this has been done before. I haven't seen it on YouTube or literally anything else but I also don't want to claim to be the first one. The only thing i have seen is somebody trying it with a bolt caster

The reason I am doing this is simply because I love fighting sentinels. Especially daddy walker.

New Player: Sentinel Pillar? [Question]

So I am brand new to the game, just having started this weekend. I'm still in the "Awakenings" (chapter? mission?). I just literally got the Hyperdrive constructed, and all of a sudden, I get this map to a Sentinel Pillar.

I searched on this sub, and it looks like I need some weapons before I try to take a sentinel location on; however, all I have is the Mining Tool and Terrain Manipulator.

Is it best I just avoid the Sentinel Pillar and move on Find Antimatter? Will the Pillar still be there when I return to the planet with a weapon?

Min Max Neutron Cannon SC Layout [Question]

Seeing some interesting results comparing SC layouts for the neutron cannon.

The layout of the "Karasaw" multitool seems to be the most optimal layout among popular consensus.

I recently found a new star pattern one on accident in the pictured "Retuned Quantum Absorber". It has almost half the base damage potential as the "Karasaw" but when plugging in the modules results in a slightly higher damage potential.

I've read that the S-class modules for neutron cannon are better than x-class but I haven't been able to find any that beat my current x-class ones. Each are 14% damage and between 45%-50% recharge rate. So slightly weaker than the coveted 15% dmg 50% recharge ones.

Any thoughts on why this may be? Or could it be attributed to the jankiness of the neutron cannon damage potential in general?

Obviously this makes zero practical difference in gameplay. I'm just interested in the theory crafting behind SC slots, modules, and stats.

Stuff like maybe a Telltalelike/adventure game set in the universe? RPGs, civlike game,etc.

I came into the game not expecting too much from the lore but the world and alien races really kind of drew me in. I wouldn't mind seeing some smaller side projects related to maybe things they didn't feel they could necessarily do in an update someday.

Not that I think the chances are high we would see it happen though, I imagine HG got their hands pretty full with both games right now and them still being a reasonably smaller dev team.

Settlers and Autophages? [Question]

Ok, I come because I have a problem that I don't know how to solve, I've seen other people with the same problem but I thought that maybe it wouldn't affect me at all but I was wrong, I'm referring to the colonists' mission and it won't let me start the Autophages missions, and I don't know what to do. I have seen videos but it simply does not let me start the settler mission, every time I go to the settlement post the option to apply as a supervisor is blocked and from what I have seen for the Autophages it is a requirement, is there anything I can do?

Sentinel Issues [Bug]

Absolutely not feeling whatever insane bugs are on the ps4 with sentinels at the moment. Like I was fighting a ship and the second I’d get close to it, just straight up despawns. It will lovingly keep its lasers flying and sending out drones like a midge swarm. I’d have to fly into space or super far away to get it to come back and if I get close…poof gone. Did this for 30 minutes and just couldn’t do anything except refill my shields and enjoy the endless killing spree. They also won’t spawn past level 3 anywhere on the ground and sometimes level 3 spawns 1000s of u away, almost always for the purple guys. They will still search for me when they are all dead tho. Anyone else enjoying the new sentinel update?

Somehow, someway, my save is lost. [Question]

Greetings, fellow explorers.

A few days ago I redownloaded the game on Xbox to discover my cloud save was gone. Im refering to the Xbox cloud, to be clear.

Im curious if there was a total reaet during my absence, and if there is any method to somehow recover the save as it contained several years worth of gameplay.

Any assistance in solving this conundrum would be great appreciated!

Personal refiner is nowhere to be found! [Question]

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help a newb with something that I can't find the answer to anywhere. I wanted to install the mk2 personal refiner but first it is telling me I must uninstall personal refiner in order to proceed, but it seems like it has disappeared from my exosuit slot and I can't find it anywhere. I don't have any uninstalled tech packages as various different searches have suggested....the mk2 thinks it is installed but I can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions appreciated....I'm about 40 hours in now and don't really want to have to restart if I can avoid it, but that personal refiner was so useful....cheers.

How am I in so much debt [Bug]

This is an autophage settlement and i just recently became overseer and started renovating. I do some other stuff here and there, come back to the settlement and now i have an insane amount of debt which clears in about 230,977 years. Before i left the settlement after the renovations it was at about 800,000 and was gonna be cleared in about 30 odd hours but now its that. what the freak

The Settlers won't start [Question]

I got "The Settlers" quest but the settlement is infested with regular aggressive sentinels that won't give me a second's peace, and the "settler" that I'm supposed to talk to is inside the spire with the control panel that says I can't take over a settlement during an emergency. Am I just locked out of this forever? Can I find a different settlement and have that count as the quest starter? I generally like this game but it has so many game breaking bugs that cause quests or mechanics to blow up somehow. They've done a huge amount of work since release, but I wish they'd spend one of those development cycles to stabilize the bugs. :-P

Been getting a lot of No Man's Sky posts in my feed lately and now I'm thinking of picking it up. But is this the type of game I have to constantly keep tabs on or can I just play as a casual adventurer logging on here and there to explore the galaxy?

Visual bug or is this normal for the game? [Question]

As you can see from the images my planet that I’m on seems off? I mean if it’s normal fine but it looks awful my guess is something is wrong?

For clarification I’ve tried a bunch of things by looking this up, I’ve turned HDR off in game along with AA and tried borderless/full screen combo and basically adjusted every graphic setting I could but nothing matters the moment the sun comes up it just shreds everything with this blue overlay? Even the birds get painted blue haha.

Any help on this would be appreciated not long back into this game since the last few updates but this is putting me off.

Also slide side note, anyone got any updates on what the pioneer spirit actually does for settlements? Would like to retire one and start a new one on another planet however they said it’s impossible to get this feature so I feel pressured into keeping it?

Northpoint Uranium Depot - 75k, 7704/hr [Information]

I thought there were no Uranium deposits or hotspots in NMS - until I found a planet with both! I located an S-tier Uranium hotspot, and built a large depot for the community's use. It contains up to 75k Uranium (5 sets of 15k each), extracting at a rate of 7704/hr. It's in the Euclid galaxy, at the planet whose glyphs you can see in the screenshots. The system is Dissonant (purple star); I'm not sure if you need to unlock Dissonant systems in order to portal to them.

No Man's Sky is UNABLE TO SAVE in Gamepass (PC) SOLVED/SOLUTION [Bug]

RUN THE GAME AS ADMINISTRATOR!! And not from the Xbox app. Yeah that's it.

So maybe you have encountered this issue while trying to play from the Gamepass. You install the game, start playing, put some hours in and think that the game is saving. But then you check the pause menu and it just says "no data saved" or similar. The game just won't save, and you won't be able to have a progress AT ALL. (I actually played through the tutorial like 7 times while trying the different solutions I found online, but nothing worked).

I know many people experienced this problem, because while looking for a solution I just found people saying they had the same issue (for years), and no way to fix it. And I have been suffering trying to solve it for days too. I'm a new player btw, just trying to get started.

Here is an example of a "solution" given. Don't do it. I tried it, and it just messed up with my Xbox app. (I was able to fix it thanks to YouTube tutorials though) Anyways, you can see here that like 70 people had this question and probably could not solve it either. So I just felt obliged to post this simple and dumb solution, because it's so stupid you probably won't even think about it. I hope it helps future players!

Settlement bug? [Question]

I can't find a single inhabitant of this settlement. The game is telling me to find someone who can tell me what help they need and trigger the sentinel attack but I can't find anyone. The navigation marker points me to the structure you see in the screenshot despite the text that says "Settler".

I started a new game a little while ago. I'm at the point where I was alerted to a settlement that needs my help. I know the drill because I've done this a time or two (albeit not recently). I land and try to interact with the terminal in the town square and it tells me I can't become overseer without resolving the emergency. Fine. After some time looking around, I randomly encounter a Gek who tells me something (don't remember what exactly) and then a Sentinel attack starts. I'm not equipped to defeat the attack (they keep respawning at the same rate I kill them) so I retreat to get better equipped.

I'm back now with a better multitool and I can't find a single inhabitant of the village. I still need to speak with an inhabitant to trigger the next phase of the quest. I've been looking around for nearly an hour and I can't find anyone.

There are corrupt sentinels that patrol around and randomly attack the village. I fought them for a while but they just keep respawning. I don't think they're relevant to the quest.

Is this a bug? What can I do?

Pressure membrane not working? [Question]

Hey everyone 👋

I’ve come back to NMS after being away for a few years and I gotta say I’m so so happy. It’s basically unrecognisable from its launch.

I’m having an issue that I’ve not seen posted, although there are similar problems, just not the exact same one. It’s about high water pressure in deep oceans, like 1300u deep.

So at those depths it’s cool how fast your hazard protection drains, it really makes me feel like I’m pushing the boundaries of exploration and I love it. So I got the suit upgrade Pressure Membrane to help mitigate all that, the problem is it doesn’t seem to do a single thing.

Now I want to make it super clear that while I’m inside my sub I am COMPLETELY SAFE. There is no drain on my life support or hazzard protection in anyway and this seems to be the only posts I’ve seen. Other people’s issue seems to be that they can still die from exposure in their sub. But again this isn’t my problem.

I’m talking about the oxygen, temperature and especially the LIFE SUPPORT systems. OMG the life support. It drains so godamn fast even after I’ve installed Autophage, Sentinel and S rank modules.

I’ve installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, destroyed and built a new one. But nothing I’ve done seems to have had any impact at all on how fast my systems drain.

So I need help with understanding what’s going on. Is it a bug or glitch? Have I misunderstood its function? Am I an idiot?

Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.

Switch 2 incompatible save game [Information]

I bought NMS for the Nintendo Switch 2, played for 16h. Then I wanted to try it on PC. I loaded my save game via cross save and played for a while. When I tried to load my save back on the SW2 I noticed that the save game is unable to load because the SW2/PC patch versions aren't the same and now I can't continue playing the game that I just bought. Such a shame.

Can you search the data you acquired? [Question]

Okay so there's a lot of things in this game even after years of playing that I think should be in the game cuz it's very basic crap for a video game. And then today I just learned you can actually tag planets in the system that you're in so that a marker appears on them so you can find them without having to wildly fly around. Crazy stuff. So I'm just wondering what other sort of things are hidden away in non-intuitive things.

Like is there a way to search through your discoveries? Or a way to like search or sort your portal lists? Or is there a way to delete HUD markers that you just aren't interested in like you know you accidentally trigger a discovery event for a minor settlement or something because you touched something at another POI.

I asked this cuz I've spent the last 4 hours trying to find a ruined planet with polished stone and yes I know I can look up a portal address but I'd really just like to search through the tons of planets and space stations I already have to see if I already discovered something

Loading issues [Bug]

Help, this is absolutely ruining the experience for me. I've been playing on ASUS ROG Ally for a while now and usually I'll just reload a save when this happens but it's getting to the point where I feel like giving up because I can't just enjoy the game.

This is random as it can happen after 1 warp or 15 warps, 5 minutes in, or 2 hours in. There doesn't seem to be any consistent trigger, but changing zones will make the game unplayable.

Examples; Warp into a system, land in the space station to check upgrades and multitools. Works fine; Leave the space station, summon my freighter to scan the system and check out the planets. Works fine; Leave my freighter to go to a planet that looks interesting- surface never loads. Just visible-from-space ground textures, no flora or fauna, no rocks buildings, etc.

In game attempts to fix; I'll try to warp to another system, I stay in the "warp loading screen" until I force close the game. I can try to summon the anomaly- I enter but get stuck inside of it, nothing ever loading. Stuck in my ship, floating there in front of the entrance.

Other issues, warp to a system. Everything is normal. Check out what I want to, do what I want to, then warp to another system. Infinite warp load screen again.

I understand the ROG isn't the most powerful system, but this is ridiculous.

Fixes I've tried; +Upgrading internal storage to 2TB +Turning off and on the system (not restart, but a shut down) +Closing steam and opening again (IDK I'm getting desperate) +Verifying integrity of files +Defrag SSD +Run antivirus (IDK, again, desperate) +Check for updates (system, steam, GPU) +Increasing the RAM page file size +Moving the game from external SSD to local SSD +Close everything unnecessary in background (Razer, AMD, ASUS, etc - yes I've also tried letting AMD run and nothing changes)

I'm out of ideas. Any help at all is appreciated as closing the game every...

TUTORIAL: How to make a GIANT base containing multiple resource deposits [Information Video]

Hi everyone, GIANT battery factory guy here (see https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/s/nMs3HMRr4Z, and sorry for the caps 😂).

First, thank you to all of you who liked or commented on my base, it got far more attention than I ever imagined!

A few people were asking in comments how to build bases that cover such large areas and incorporate multiple resource deposits, so I threw together this very quick tutorial. This is my approach to it, there be other, more efficient options!

Read this first, then watch the video that quickly demonstrates it with no commentary

Here are my quick steps:

Obviously decide on what resources you want your base to include and find a planet that hosts them. Then start looking for them. Prioritize the deposit type that is most important to you, and try to maximize the class of that if you can. It takes a lot of trial and error.

Once you’ve found a deposit you like, place a save marker.

Now explore a wide radius around the save marker (like 500-1000u) to try to find your next resource deposit (or magnetic field).

When you find one, place another save marker.

Now explore a wide radius around that marker, and try to find your next resource.

Repeat this process, placing a save marker.

Make sure you do include finding an electromagnetic field to power everything and place a marker there too.

HOT TIP Prioritize the class of your resources to be extracted rather than the class of the electromagnetic field. This is because the power generated by an electromagnetic field scales almost linearly with the number of generators you place. I say almost, because generation per generator does drop slightly the further you move from the center of the electromagnetic field.

Resource extraction rates, however, do not scale linearly with the addition of more extractors....

Base decorations keep disappearing [Bug]

I'm currently trying to build an orbital space station base with a cyberpunk feel on the inside, and I notice that whenever I place decorations/furnishings they disappear after about 5 minutes. Other types of parts are fine and they stay. It's also kind of random on which ones stay and which ones don't as not all disappear and some stay permanently.

I put a save beacon down and it too disappeared but it still had the icon above it, wouldn't let me put another one nearby, and I couldn't interact with it. Other than the save beacon I'm fairly confident that most of the things are being completely removed. Any advice helps. Thank you so much.

Is anyone else having this issue? I’ve tried googling it and nothing comes up, not even mentioning these parts coming to the game. As I’m fairly certain they’re a new addition. Problem with Starbirth mission [Question]

Were the interior colors changed? [Question]

So I came back after a bit of a break, the last major update I played was either Worlds or Titan, though it's possible I haven't painted the freighter since the overhaul the freighters got. Either way its driving me crazy, I can't paint my new modules to match the tan/white/blue.. I suppose it's possible it could've been a mod but none of my mod download history suggest changes to room colors, and I assume the colors would've all swapped to this duller black version.

How NMS Handles Saves Sucks! [Bug]

I was playing No Man's Sky (recently got into it) and I had uploaded my base more than once on the base computer. I was building with my friend for about 4-5 hours. Then the game crashed for me. There was an error report. I clicked yes to see if it would resolve it and I was given an option to restore the cloud save or the local save. Time on the local save was over an hour before the current time, where the cloud save was from eight minutes ago. So I chose the cloud save. When I loaded the game, my friend notice the base reverted to how it was 4-5 hours ago. I had lost everything. And my friend who had given me valuable materials, those materials were obviously not returned to him. Amazing buildings, resources and all my blueprints that I bought with salvage data my friend had gift me, everything, all gone. So this is a game where I can't make my own saves. It's autosave and it overwrites. This makes me really upset and doesn't make me feel like grinding for hours to reproduce what I built. I do know if I go back to the game I am manually backing up my save files every so often. I just wish the game would let make your save game files. End of rant. Just needed to get that off my chest.

strange settlements [Question]

I started a Gek settlement recently. It has small, medium, large houses, one warehouse and the office.

I have no idea what they are trading because there's no landing pads.

Anyone else got any odd combinations?

The discordant settlement only has 2 missions I keep getting, they either want a holiday or to go get killed on an expedition. Except for 2. A) a person joined, B) he was arrested and taken away.

Do we LOVE the settlements yet? [Discussion]

…or is there still something missing?

Personally I would cry all of the tears for the ability to add defense systems. I haven’t had a single sentinel attack since the Beacons update but I can’t help feeling a sense of dread. It’s just a little too quiet if you know what I mean.

Also where are all the people?! I am having a bear of a time recruiting folks to my settlements post update. Haven’t allowed a single expedition either.

How do glyphs work? [Question]

I found out that glyphs are a good way to get around the galaxy but how they actually work is a mystery to me. What do the symbols mean? Can I use glyphs to reach the center of galaxy? Or any where I want for that matter? Is there a mission tied to glyphs? Are there any popular glyphs that I could know about to enhance my experience. I'm newish to this game and have found myself thoroughly immersed and want to reach galactic center as well as visit more populated areas of the galaxy and have found out glyphs are the way to go....

[Beware] Duplicate Base Cross Save Corruption Bug [Information]

Beware... cross save is still buggy and HG is not doing anything about it for months and months.

I reported this bug to them 5 months ago, yet they still haven't fixed it. It leads to your bases getting corrupted and malfunctioning and corruption in your terminus destination list. Who knows what else could go south once the corruption creeps in.

It's clearly due to some kind of faulty netcode for syncing bases and distinguishing what is "your own" base vs. what is a base not owned by your current playthrough. Despite providing detailed analysis and sample save files in a Zendesk, the issue was ignored for 5 months and still persists.

So if you're doing anything with cross save, be very careful! I recommend only making and visiting your bases on the original platform of the save.

Living ship missions / I’m so frustrated [Question]

Guys I am so frustrated. I have completed all my quests for to get the living ship and the next objective says use the portal to travel back to your own reality but I can’t get to the portal bc there’s a huge machine that changes the weather/temperature and my screen goes white and it bugs out!! Anyone dealt with this??

Can I only get a Venator freighter as my first? [Question]

Basically the title. I have been searching for a Venator freighter and tried 6 different systems from r/NMSCoordinateExchange, but they are always a different type and not a Venator. I just read in a post you can only get them in the rescue encounters, but I already did mine and got my first freighter a good while ago. Does this mean I am locked out of finding a Venator?

Did I just check myself out of Eissentam? [Question]

I just did the part of the Atlas storyline where you select one of four orbs, each one corresponding to different galaxies you can jump to. I chose Eissentam due to its Lush nature, and I believe this is Galaxy 10.

The problem is that when I got there, I didn't explore much because I had a quest in Euclid that I really wanted to finish first before wandering Eissentam. I summoned my freighter and didn't drop a base, because I figured I don't need to since my freighter is in Eissentam and I can just teleport to it once I'm done in Euclid.

Well I ended up needing something from my freighter inventory and without even thinking about it, I summoned it to Euclid.

So am I fucked or? I didn't visit the space station so I am not seeing the station for the system I was in available for teleportation. No base, no settlement, no freighter, no ties to Eissentam at all even though I was just there. Am I cooked. Do I actually have to jump through 9 galaxies just to get back?

How to fix No Man's Sky savefile on PC Xbox Gamepass [Information]

A very odd thing to see when you had your 200hrs save yesterday, right? Thats where my long journey began, and hopefully where yours will end

I'll be straight to the point, and map all the things that helped me The first thing to do is to get your save out of the (now broken) directory:
C:\Users*Your Username*\AppData\Local\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky_bs190hzg1sesy\SystemAppData\wgs

Copy this folder to anywhere, you will need it later

Also if you had multiple saves, you might wanna download a saveeditor to find which one is which Now what we need to do is to start the game(play for a little on a new save) with admin rights, this will create a new folder (for an unknown reason) in your users folder

Now, when opening it you will notice that there is nothing but a straight way down to nms savefolder, but its not called "wgs" but "xgs" this time

The difference seems to be that XGS is a local save data, and WGS is the one that gets copied to the serever
Anyway the WGS folder will create itself later

In the XGS folder there are differently named folders, it was a Slot1Manual for me The most important part now is to import your save that we copied earlier, but the files are different, a lot of numbers vs "data" and "meta" files

But they are really easy to decipher, the "heavier" one is Data and the other one is "Meta"

I have a unique issue related to the Purple systems [Question]

Months ago, when I did the quest line for purple systems when it came out I was able to get through the quest with no issues until I got to the part where you create your own purple system. I created mine however there wasn’t a gas giant in the system. I couldn’t finish the quest because not only did I not have access to crystallized helium but I also not find any other purple systems on the galaxy map. I have a friend who was able to drop me some crystallized helium so that I could complete the quest and I completed it a while ago. After completing it I noticed I couldn’t see any purple systems and I never cared enough until now to try and fix the issue. I’ve taken advise from everywhere I see and I already uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I’ve tried locating crystallized helium on my exotic materials tab because since my friend dropped me some I’ve discovered it however when I try to click on it nothing happens and I can’t search for it in the galaxy map like other materials (basalt etc) my original purple system is literally invisible. The only reason I can travel to it is because I was smart enough to land on a planet when I originally did the quest line. I’m out of options and I give up. If someone can solve this mystery be my guest

It's been 2 weeks and my game is still completely broken [Bug]

A few days ago I made a post about how the PS5 version of NMS refuses to download on my pro console. I've reached out through reddit, I've reached out through discord, and I've emailed Hello Games. My game is still broken. It refuses to download and keeps giving me an error code. I've tried every trick on the internet and nothing has worked for me. I have well over 400 hours in this game and would love to add 400 more, but to do that, I need access to the game. If anyone can help that'd be greatly appreciated.

NMS should add a Racing Mini-Game. [Suggestion]

Please here me out; No Man’s Sky should add a racing mini game, with caveats, to expose players (both old and new) to expedition-restricted ships, previously unseen (or uncommon) exotics models, or cool ‘racer-esk’ starships introduced as new content in the update.

I realize that many players have reached ‘max’ on their starships several times over. I realize that, as it stands, this would be nearly impossible. But this idea will add a new layer to the multiplayer aspect, ultimately bringing life to a lonely universe. Further, it’s an opportunity for NMS to showcase their stylistic decorations as well as introduce new starship content.

First, the caveat would include “stock” ships, in which would be procedurally generated to limit mobility, speed, and damage resistance. Think Mario Cart, where many stock carts are available for the player to choose, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The races could be limited by class, IE exotic ships, expedition ships, T1 Ships, etc..

Second, HG would need to add an air break, or a propulsion system, that would eject a stream of air allowing the player drift in space. Sounds pretty SCI-FI, but things like this already exist in our world today: “JWST propulsion system is responsible for maneuvering the spacecraft, maintaining its orbit, and managing its momentum. It utilizes both bi-propellant thrusters (SCATs) for larger orbital adjustments and monopropellant thrusters(MRE-1s) for attitude control and momentum unloading.” Google JWST propulsion system.

The game mode could use match matching to link players across the servers, or introduce something like the Nexus, where players can join as they see fit with the users in their instance. The rewards could look like stickers to customize your starship (WW2-Esk) or the aforementioned “Racer-Esk” starships (Envision F1 Cars in SPACE hahaha). I...

I have a quest literally marked as "The Settlers" yet every time i land all of these places are empty. the claim devices says to talk to the locals. Checked every building, checked all the local caves, wandered aimlessly around the area yet i cant find a single living person anywhere around Reset the thing 30 times over now in multiple systems. Am i.....doing something wrong here or is this quest currently bugged and not working?

PS5 + Steam + Switch = sync? Is there a handheld that will sync? [Question]

Currently I mainly play NMS on PC/Steam. I started on PS5 and my accounts are “synced”. My wife (plays on PS5)is looking to get a Switch 2 despite her old Switch doesn’t sync with her account. My Steam doesn’t completely sync with my PS5 and that is mainly my settlement. Here is my question. Will it be worth it to use a Switch and Switch 2 to play away from home despite the current lack up update and wait for the update and sync or look into another handheld?

Hi all, I'm a new player to the game, about a week in. I finally got to 40 million and wanted to buy a new starship. Anyway I was playing a couple of hours ago and whilst in the anomaly I waved at another player because he had a cool looking skeleton dragon thing following him around. About a minute later he randomly came up to me and gave me some parts, about 200 AI parts worth around 240 million!!! When the 5.73 will drop ? [Question]

It is a long time since the last patch 5.72, and the experimental patch is big but the question I am is : when it will be released ?

I think the experimental branch is a good idea but Hello Games are less reactive than before or postpone the release of a patch for too long.

I love the game but it is very frustrating that console players have to wait 2 weeks for a patch !

The worst is that some bugs aren't resolved, the game have update but they are quite broken. I know the procedural is hard to code, but please Hello Games hurry up.

Sorry for my anger... Maybe they have to fix something important before releasing the 5.73... And the giant planets have still pixelated textures it haven't been corrected ?

Help on the quest [Question]

So I’m very new to the game and I’m on the awakenings quest, specifically the “find us, hear us” step. It’s informing me to follow a signal to a crashed ship yet I don’t see any markers anywhere on my map at all or on my HUD. The only marker I have is for the space station and that’s it. I’ve tried reloading my game and selecting the quest step again and still no coordinates. Am I missing something?

How to reach the galactic core? [Question]

Hello all! Longtime lurker first time poster. I’m about sixty hours into my first playthrough and was given a mission to reach the galactic core. I kept jumping from system to system and accumulating glyphs, which ultimately unlocked a portal that led me to Eissentam. I’m a bit at a loss because I’d assumed that the portal would advance me toward the center of Euclid. If portals don’t help with that then how am I to reach the center without taking a tremendous amount of time?

I should add that my main goal in reaching the center is to get the drive that allows you to reach purple systems, because I want to find a water world and build a base on the seabed.

My Permadeath + Abandoned Journey, Complete! // Time: 24:34 [Screenshot]

Hello fellow travelers, I greet you from Hilbert Dimension! (Dimension 2, Normal)

tldr; It was awesome and every NMS Vet should give this mode combo a try if they are feeling 'bored' or are in need a of a challenge. At the very least it feels like a hardcore expedition.

What a ride! In many ways I cannot describe what it quite feels like to not only finish the PD run but also in abandoned mode. I've got a 121hr normal and a 148hr survival save and I was really wanting something to test all of my time spent in space. I wish it would be expanded further, with a different set of journey elements that engage the player in more risk-taking environments. I believe I had 40-42 warps in total prior reaching the center.

I think HG did a great job with Abandoned mode, you truly are alone out there. It requires preparation, planet planning and time spent building a reliable base. Being able to flex all of my NMS knowledge felt very rewarding, especially the handful of times I was in a pinch. Would love to see a more-fleshed out version that incorporates an immersive way to obtain Glyphs or at least a quest-line that is similar to Artemis Path that provides an alternative path to the center. I have tons of ideas HG, hit me up!

Ship battle rages above my Settlement [Video]

The Settlement is in an Outlaw system, so it's frequently attacked by Pirates. So frequently, that I no longer bother to fight them. Plus, since it has 4 Docks, there are always a lot of friendly entities about that are willing to fight them off on my behalf. That and the fact the Squadron now defends the Settlement from Pirate attacks, results in an incredible view at night-time.

Haunted House (Updated) [Fan Work]

Here’s an updated version of my haunted house build. Just keep adding as I wait around for the bugs on Xbox to be fixed.

I’ll post the video link in the comments. That’s always way better than pics. In the description box of the YT video there’s a small backstory behind the build that will make it make sense. I hope.

Also, this build is currently at 4300 pieces. So, if you visit. You’ll only see the first 3000 pieces (unless I’m there too). It’s still enough pieces to cover the main structure, but you lose a lot of the details that make it haunted. Mainly, the work on the campus beyond the main home itself.

Regular Freighter Confrontations Stopped Yesterday [Question]

Does anyone know a fix? I still get the pirate versions, but it's been over a day since I've seen a regular freighter fight, and I need storage for mine. It's been way over the 3 hour/5 5-jump thing, and I'm on Switch, so there are no settlement issues.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix or is this save fucked?

Wow! I first played NMS on release, had it pre-ordered, suffered the pain of the delay all those years ago, got burned after journeying to the center. Dropped the game because of heartache.

What big update would you like to see? [Discussion]

For me, I'd like to see planet terraforming become a thing. Like when you find a planet that's not exactly what you want, you can change different aspects of it. Anywhere from small tweaks to massive transformations.

Atmosphere stations could make humid planets more arid or arid planets more humid. You could generate atmospheres on planets that don't already have one. Weather on the planet would change in unpredictable ways, depending what resources you load into the atmosphere processors.

You could change the color of the sky using different resources. There could be aquatic stations that change the color of the water.

You could introduce new flora and fauna into the ecosystem from other planets. They will either thrive, struggle, or dye off depending on the environment you create. Existing flora and fauna on the planet would be affected in the same way. One species might kill off another. Hazardous flora might die off or grow out of control. If you really screw up, the planet could become a terraforming disaster.

The only way it would work is if you'd have to be the one who discovered the planet to terraform it. Or else griefers would have a field day destroying entire planets. They could build an expedition and/or mission around it. Complete the mission, unlocking the different terraforming base parts.

Just a random thought I had while exploring a planet that wasn't quite perfect.

Network Settings [Question]

I don't see the option for network settings and have no idea why. About a year ago someone warned me about greifers so I turned off some stuff but now I want to hunt down the greifers I already mentioned. This is important for me and if someone can tell me how to get the game to have multiplayer again I'll track down and obliterate the person of their choosing, no lie. I'm on Xbox and yes my Internet connection is always working at 2 GBPS so that's not the issue plus I can play other multiplayer games just fine. I googled this question and when I go to my settings I don't see a network option like in the screenshots I looked at wtf. I recently got back into the game after a 2 year absence due to the death of my wife so there could be something that the developers did since then that I don't know about. Please please please someone help me 🙏

Been years - start over or pick up where I left off? [Question]

It has been years since I played this game, but after seeing all the new updates, I think I want to try it again.

I hopped in and NOTHING worked. My base was completely shut down, and my ship was nearly non-functional. I had some great ships though, as well as unlocking of some cosmetics.

If I don't start over, will I still get to see all the new stuff? Or do I need to start over? And if I do, will I lose my cosmetics and other things?

Console version crashes right after save is loaded [Bug]

Hello, I’m on the Nintendo switch 2 version. Was heading to a new planet in a new system and the game crashed. Now whenever I try to load that autosave, the game crashes within a few seconds. It’s not enough time for me to escape. It’s not even enough time for me to load a previous save.

Does anyone have any fixes for this? I can’t find any help or discussion about this happening on the console version online. I brought the few limited graphical options to their lowest setting but that did nothing. The switch 2 version is fairly new so maybe it’s just a bug that needs to be patched idk. I’ve had no major performance issues before this.

I’m Pretty desperate, I don’t wanna lose this save. Anyone else having this problem?

Haven’t played in years, game just sold me on this interaction: [Discussion]

At a space station, learning robo Spanish and frog-tongue from all the moseyers moseying about.

I see a Korvax and a Gek moseying together in the shadows on the side of the station.

I approach the Korvax. His intro dialogue says something like “you catch the korvax in an embarrassing moment attempting to apply lubricant to his carapace.”

I finish dialogue and turn to the Gek, his intro says something like “you catch him in an embarrassing moment excreting a greasy substance from his body”.

Was the Gek lubing up the Korvax? What kind of nanites does that pay? Was I in a red-light sector space station?

They may be preparing for us to own space stations and i'm all here for it, who else?!?!?!?! [Discussion]

Recently i've formulated a new theory. I think that HG might be preparing for players to be allowed to own space stations, and it's for two reasons.

The first thing that sparked this theory was the Station Override item, i feel like with the "recent" changes to the space stations they would've done SOMETHING with the station override, like have it give you an item, but instead they choose to leave it open for use (as it does nothing right now).

The second thing that really got me thinking was the strange 3rd story section of the space station. Right now all you can do up there is find insecure servers and whatnot for a few units, but there are four outlines on the wall that really look like they could be caved out for player-built shops/facilities that could give the space station certain benefits

let me know what you think! personally i would love to be able to own a space station in NMS

How do I kill the corrupted sentinel quadrupeds!? [Question]

I’ve been trying to get a crystallized heart to get the freighter hyperdrive upgrade that needs it but it’s like they’re impossible to kill! Because when they get low, their sentinel buddies repair them faster than I could possibly damage it, and I can’t kill all the sentinels that repair it because FOR SOME REASON the quadruped doesn’t count as a sentinel in the wave/wanted level, so killing everything but the quad spawns MORE SENTINELS TO REPAIR IT and I have no idea how to kill these things!

Why can't I actually get into NMS [Question]

been playing on and off ever since release With my longest playthrough being around 25~ hours

And recently I've noticed a cycle of seeing cool content on NMS starting a game Everything feels too slow and it just doesn't click,I uninstall and repeat after a week or so

Considering I absolutely adore space games (played the shit out of Spore & Freelancer) I should adore this game completely but I don't... I just don't get it. Anyone else experienced this?

Can someone please help me get a refresher? [Question]

WIth the recent updates to the game I wanted to try the game and haven't played it since launch, but I enjoyed it a lot then and am sure it's even better now. That said with the recent cross saves update I want to continue my save from steam on xbox, which I'm pleased to say worked well but I'm hoping to get a refresher on how to continue.

Now before you suggest making a new character, I did consider that and did do that, but to be honest I'd much rather be able to continue my old character if I can unless it's highly recommended otherwise. Anyway I'd like some help getting back into the swing of things, there's obviously a lot of new stuff added from launch such as base building, but I'm remembering there being some pretty strict requirements for fuel and hyperspace travel and can't remember if I need to worry about anything there. A lot of my inventory is full of obsolete gear which I'm assuming I can dismantle?

While I'd be glad to get tracked to get retutorialized on the new stuff such as trying out the base building and whatnot, I'd really just like to be able to get in a ship and fly around without having to worry about anything else other than maybe customizing my ship.

My first S-Class Freighter! [Question]

Finally. After well over 800 hours of play, I found my very first S-class freighter. Cost me 23M units. Got change back for my well-developed A-class freighter (86M units) on the transfer so it didn't cost me anything. It's gonna be a while before it equals me A-class freighter. I need a lot of storage expansion for that.

Above the freighter is my first living frigate (C-class)… also obtained today!

What can I do to increase the Warp Efficiency rating? My former freighter had a 1.0 rating, but this ship has a 0.7.

Help I think my game may be borked! [Bug]

So my frieghter has been a pain with the modules I have built. They kept ending up closed off so they were were I left them but had soild walls. Making doors didn't help. But I deleted everything and rebuilt and it seemed fine, till today.

Then someone came to my door while I was out fighting pirates. So I died. No big deal, ended up back on a space station. Warped to my freighter where all my stuff is. But then this (see pic) I can't get in to my stuff. I can't get in to my warp station. I can't change anything because "You can't delete this part" as I am 'in it' If I move back I am no longer in the build area.

I don't seem to have any previous saves. I have been playing on and off for years (but only a total of like 120 hours)

Is there any way to save this?

Network Settings [Question]

I can't find the network settings. I'm going to try to post pictures of the menus in my game, on Xbox. On November 8 2022 the love of my life died and left me with 3 children to raise in my own including an 8 month old daughter. I say that because I haven't played the game since then but recently decided to give gaming, and No Man's Sky, another try. So please forgive me for not knowing, a lot has changed since I last played. I do remember shutting the multiplayer but now I need other humans to play with because I've only been around my 2 teenage son's and 3 year old daughter. Somebody, I'm begging you, please help!

Can't build in settlements anymore after Beacon :( [Question]

So I've really loved the Beacon update but I'm kind of bummed that the previous method for building inside of settlements isn't working for me anymore. I have my base computer right in the middle of town and when I open the build menu it's only the basic stuff you can build anywhere. Does anyone know of a way around this or even a mod that lets you build in settlements freely? Kind of lame to have this cool big settlement and not be able to add any personal touch to it. :/

Only have 2 glyphs after beating the main quest line [Question]

Ive completed the artemis questline, and still only had 2 glyphs. So i went and found 5 travellers on space stations and went to their graves and redeemed the glyphs. It showed on my screen that I recieved them, but when I go to my catalogue it shows that I only have the first 2 glyphs. Is this a glitch or am I just dumb?

Image 1 shoes the glyphs and a good look at the MT.

Image 2 shows the location on the planet (I left a comm ball and an orange save beacon).

Image 3 just notes the planet (the glyphs will take you to that one). Exit your ship and reload the restore point to load this MT in the cabinet.

Image 4 is a look at the slot layout. Not ideal SC slots for min/maxers, but a decent tool nonetheless.

I use an Xbox controller and keyboard when I play the game. I can fly with both in military simulation games really well. Flying in No Man Sky is challenging but I think it can use some inspiration from Battlebit Remaster's. I usually fly helicopters in game. That's all, thank you.

Been playing for two weeks. Underwhelmed. [Discussion]

So I've put about 10 hours into NMS so far on Nintendo Switch 2. I've fixed up my ship and made a base, and found how to warp to a space station. I even got hyperdrive working, but not sure what random system to go to, really.

And, I'm really sorry, but I'm a little shocked at how poor the graphics look when compared to trailers and game clips I've seen online. I'm also baffled at how poor the terrain and mineable objects look. Like, low poly and just like completely saturating the landscape with "junk".

Today I was chased by sentinels. The game told me to run, or hide. So I mined into the side of a mountain. I was kinda shocked that the sentinels clipped through the mountain and got right in my face. Just... Wow. What?!

Now I am stuck on a barren irradiated planet with a broken ship and I've got these assholes to deal with while I struggle to build a refinery.

Rather than do that I'm just gonna quit for now I think. Tell me I'm overreacting, tell me the game gets better. Cause right now I feel like I just kinda wasted that money.

Doing Autophage Missions and hunting Salvage Ships at the same time. Had an Issue. [Information]

Was doing what the subject says and ran into an issue. I got to the ruin where you make the harmonic brain and the portal thing popped up out of the ground. Me being me, I did the thing where I added the Atlantium and got a cool looking multi tool, cool right? But i couldn't make the Harmonic Brain afterward, not cool right? So I just went back to doing missions and I am not sure if it needed a reset time, or if you have to go to the log. but the ship quest to make the brain finally came back after I did the missions I had. I probably should have made the brain then added the Atlantium.

My question is this, I have 2 game saves, one is my main game, and the other is my mess around account to explore and stuff, so I input the coordinatesor glyphs from my secondary account into a portal in my main game, I warped to that star system, the portal coordinates from my main save aren't the same for my secondary game save, is there a reason why?

Stuck in Atlas eternal? [Question]

Basically: I have Remembrance, Star Seed, and Heart of the Sun, but the Atlas path mission is gone and I only have Atlas Eternal where I show the Atlas wonders forever. - I read that I should've made Heart of the Sun before entering the Atlas station where I had to put the seeds, but I never did that, so I didn't get the chance to make any choice there (there's this mask that you can get? That I didn't)

How do I reset the simulation now? Every time I enter the Atlas, regardless of if I use a black hole or not, I can't use my Heart of the Sun anymore. Or any of my other items. And Polo doesn't help either!

What do I do?

Multitool and scanner and resources [Discussion]

I'm about 20 hours into the game. I just learned that running with a rifle multitool is high dps for fights against sentinels but low scanning and mining speed. Mining speed I get... the speed at which you mine, but scanning is just range increase but shows same minerals?

  1. Do I need to keep 2 multitools on me? A pistol for mining and a rifle for defense and quick bind them on PC? Is that how people do it?

  2. When scanning planets and you see the minerals list, is it just mineral loot pool one pool randomized or done in sets?

  3. Whats the best way to mine a lot of dihidrogen besides the little blue patches of crystals on every planet? Is there a way to find bigger deposits?

Just found this for the first time [Screenshot]

First time playing the game. Me and a friend boot the game for the first time, learn the tutorial, Some minutes after a found a structure, interacting around, it had gave me a marker for here, spent some time digging every thing, but the place is very neat.
My friend, very more fan to this game(also who incentivised me into playing). Said he found those to be pretty rare, i still want to know how rare tho. Will separate some time to read the logs that i found on the structure before this one. Also theres a big chest, its hard to see but is in the center of the screen shot, i believe i got all the three keys, so i must be opening it as this post goes online.

Why doesnt the freighter explode? [Question]

Ive seen somewhere in a youtube video that if you raid a civil freighter it will also activate the boss bar and everything like the pirate dreadnought or Sentinel Freighter, but all i can do is destroy the containers and turrets and cant make the freighter blow up.. My inner pirate is angry!

Living Ship Upgrades [Question]

I know that the items required to add tech and expand storage in Living Ships is found in frigate expeditions, but is there any way to improve the yield of the storage expansions.

I have have about 60 Psychonic Eggs, but the yield of the Spawning Sacs is distressingly low.

idk i was just chilling by destroying some sentinels. then i thought what will be happen if i make two capital ship fight each other? and i summoned my freighter then come to wave 5 and get close to my freighter after that sentinel capital ship spawned in front of the dreadnought. later that i make the sentinel ship shoot to my dreadnought with dodging bullets after that they started to fight. but the shields was taking the fun part. i destroyed it and dreadnought one shot(or laser) to the sentinel? also it started to attack space station?

Ethics on being an Anomalous Good Guy [Question]

so I was thinking last night, oftentimes when I'm coming through the anomaly or using that as a safe place to go AFK for a snack run or bathroom break or something along those lines if I have something in my inventory I don't need this usually of a higher value or something that it's useful like extra expansion slots, AI valves things of that nature I've been known to just randomly pass them along to other players also AFK there. non-consensual gift-giving if you will. and then I wonder if their players out there that that would offend, that maybe don't want somebody to make their game play a little easier on them because they enjoy the challenge.

what's the community's take on this? I'm genuinely curious.

game will chug after changing video settings until i restart the game [Bug]

hey fellas. recently got into the game and i've been loving it so far.

the main issue i'm having though is that whenever i change any video settings, there's a good chance the game will start running between 2 and 15 fps or so, even in the menus. changing the settings back doesn't seem to help, either.

the only thing that seems to fix it is quitting the game and relaunching it.

i'm still trying to figure out what the best video settings are, and it's a little tricky when the game starts running like a powerpoint presentation whenever you tweak anything. the main culprits seem to be the settings with anything to do with resolution - anti-aliasing, changing between fullscreen and borderless, things like that.

it seems like a fair few other people have been having a similar problem, because i've seen a handful of forum posts and whatever about it, but i've not found any kind of solution.

if it makes any difference, i'm using arch linux with proton experimental :)

Why cant i fly into Euclid core? [Question]

Hey! I just recently made my way towards the Euclid galaxy core, got into the system where if I set the galactic core as a destination, It shows the core as the next destination, so the line is going into the core. Here should be a promt for me to fly into that and yet nothing happens, the button to warp into it is just not there. I tried it with a solar and with a sentinel ship too, both S class, fully repaired and hyperdrive fully fueled, yet no button appears and I cant get any closer to the core than this system.

I am playing on pc by the way and have all the color drives in my ships too. What am I missing?

Is there any way to dig terrain inside of a settlement? [Question]

I have a settlement that had all buildings built before the latest update. I am in the process of upgrading the last building I can access but there is one building on the outskirts of my settlement that has a small hill going through it in just the right place to block the panel I need to access to upgrade it. Is there any way I can get the terrain removed to access it?

Finally made it to the center on my Permadeath save and got all the achievements! [Screenshot]

I finally made it to the center on Permadeath and got all the Achievements on Steam, it’s exciting! I’ve been playing NMS since its release. Originally started on the PlayStation before moving to Steam. Here are photo highlights from my Permadeath adventure. There is a ton more, just I can only fit so many here.

I had put off doing my Permadeath save for a long time and going to the center, I was worried it would be incredibly hard… it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, even though on my first planet I fell in a hole and got stuck in an endless tunnel trying to find my way out. I almost gave up before finding some underground trees I used to jet pack my way out, lol. I hadn’t unlocked the terrain manipulation tool yet.

My adventure almost ended before it could start. It was refreshing and a lot of fun to actually play on Permadeath, I’ve decided to keep my save file and play on it still when I feel risky like any second could be the end. Everyone I ran into while doing my Permadeath file was actually very kind as well, in my case I turned PvP off and had no issues with anyone. It was kind of exciting seeing others also doing the Permadeath runs, not as many people as when I play my Normal or Custom saves.

Overall I give my Permadeath experience a 10/10 especially because I made it to the center without using portals and was able to do some of the quest lines without dying, yet. I look forward to more adventures until my time has come.

Cross play issues [Question]

I’m having trouble playing with friends. Sometimes we’re able to get into games but most of the time we’re unable to get into a game with each other. For more context, one is on pc, the other on ps5 I’m on Xbox. I also live in the US and one lives in New Zealand and the other in Australia. When we’re able to get into a game it works great. But I’m having issues staying in, when I join I can hear them it’ll load then kick me to another server and vice versa for them or it’ll just send me into a different one automatically . They can join each other with no issue it seems to be when I join. I’ve check all my settings and networks, everything is working on my end. Is there anyway to fix this or suggestions on what to do? We’re all new to the game, we haven’t even had it for a week but were absolutely obsessed and want to play with each other.

How to get a new/second Autophage settlement [Question]

I started an Autophage settlement but it seemed to be bugged because it was constantly giving me a notification that it was under attack/biological infestation but every time I warped there nothing was happening and I couldn't build anything other than upgrade the couple existing buildings. After several days of that I gave up and retired as overseer. I assumed if I used a settlement map on that planet it would take me to another Autophage settlement, but it led me to a regular Gek settlement on the discordant planet.

TLDR; is there a way to reset or restart the heart of atlantid quest that leads you to an Autophage settlement?

Hey, so I'm a returning player after some time - last time I've played was the update that put the settlements in the game - and just now I realize that I'm in a system with aggressive sentinels and I just claimed my first colony/settlement. Is there a way to completely and permanently remove the Sentinels from acting on the planet or the whole system forever?

PSA: Water depth doesn't matter for fishing on gas giants [Information]

I saw a post the other day about someone making a base for people looking for deep water on gas giants. I finally completed catching all the legendary fish yesterday. I can confirm that the water depth for catching fish doesn't matter on gas giants. I caught all sizes of fish in ~7u of water depth. In fact, i caught the colossal legendary before the medium and large ones.

Sorry if this is well known already. (Also, I hope when they fix the tank heads for other saves, it just matches the title being unlocked so I don't have to catch them all again... on several saves.)

Can someone help me identify this ship? I haven't touched this game in 2 years. I remember having this ship but I don't remember where I got it and I. Fairly sure it didn't have the ancestral title when I last played. Also when I logged on my ship was covered in the brown-green sludge material so I could barely see it. What's up with that?

Save Game File (JSON) field question [Bug]

In the game file for PersistentPlayerBases each base has a "RID" ID of "", however I have a troubled base that for some reason has a RID ID.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the actual purpose of the RID ID. I've tried searching this issue but unfortunately, I find a lot of "get rid of" and not RID ID references.

So I have a ship as you can see in the picture and it’s pretty much maxed (I’m 98% sure). Is it worth it to use an exotic over this? Like I’m thinking of building up a ship of each specialised type but I was wondering if an exotic should get a place? I run into way to many of them to the point that I actually salvaged a bunch to free up space.

TL:DR is there a reason to use an exotic over another ship? If so what it is the reason?

Freighter docking bay dock and undock volume blasting my ears out. [Bug]

(i'm on the Xbox one X forgot to add that oops.)

Is this a audio bug or something in the game at first thought it was due to certain systems or proximity to planets. Yet nothing i do seems to stop it. Even fiddled around with volume stuff to the point everything was basically muted at 10 yet the the sound persists it's so loud that my ears are ringing each time along with a good amount of pain afterwords. Everything else in the game is fine audio wise and well balanced. considering how i literally use that ship as my home is there any possible way to fix it? if this keeps up might have to stop just so i don't go deaf as even my apartment neighbor who never complains about anything is going "what the hell is that constant audio scream from your TV?"

Help with Autophage line/In Stellar Multitudes [Question]

(Switch 1)

I've been playing for a while and still cannot figure out how to trigger the Autophage quest line (they who returned). I've tried using the Harmonic Interfaces at the camps(found with echo locators) but those only lead to interceptors. I really want the Autophage line and also to get the Atlantid Drive.

Why do I love this game but get bored so fast? [Discussion]

Hey guys I’ve been trying to get more into no man’s sky lately and I am fining a lot of trouble staying interested. I’ve got a couple ships, a freighter and a little bas so far but I’m finding the game starting to get really slow and repetitive and not very exciting. Elevation meter while on foot [Suggestion]

Since waypoints/markers only show horizontal distance, and the ship altimeter toggles away within 2000 units of the surface, I submitted a suggestion to HG for an elevation meter on screen. Similar to the underwater depth meter, but above sea level. I know it can be done, since it has been a temporary feature during previous expedition missions.

I just don't want to keep using the Pythagorean theorem for find mountain heights, but I know this would be helpful to other players for other reasons. Hoping it gets added!

sentinel wave keeps resetting back to 11 ships and I can never get below 9 ships, when does a sentinel capital ship spawn? [Question]

I am trying to get carrier AIs for sentinel ships (yes I know I can use echo locators too) and am shooting space station to trigger sentinels. I get stuck in a seemingly endless wave that always brings be back to 11 interceptors and I never get to the point where I eliminate an entire wave (usually it gets back to 11 by the time I have eliminated only 2). Glitch, or am I doing something wrong?

Dreadnaught bugged [Bug]

Just got the pirate dreadnaught. My on ship base won’t render unless I pull up the base building menu and manually ghost a room over its entire area and little by little the rooms pop up. Can I escape a space battle without fighting? [Question]

I was trying to do a mission where you have to follow certain coordinates to a downed ship, and then use coordinates from there to go to a derelict space freighter where a ship battle triggers. Unfortunately, I tried to use the downed ship to get there, and I forgot to repair the photon cannon on the ship. It requires sodium nitrate, to which I only have two, and of course I can't refine anything because I'm in space, and I'm being chased by ships far from a planet. Help.

Atlas questline: [Question]

Hello all. Newer player to NMS around 580 hrs. in. My question is this: As of the newest update I have been told by both a family member and a friend that have completed all the quests required to access purple systems that you no longer have to worry about the final glyph teleport completely wrecking your ship if you choose the decision that leaves you in a different galaxy at the end. Is this true or did they just get really lucky....they used their primary ships btw. This has really bothered me and prevented me from proceeding with the Atlas storyline past 16-16-16. Have finished the Artemis storyline, have yet to unlock the Autophage, These inter-connected storylines can be very confusing esp for a newbie such as myself. Thank you all for any feedback.

Crossplay network issues [Question]

I've been trying to connect my Nintendo switch to crossplay ever since I got nms on my ps5 but for some reason whenever I press connect on the switch its unable to connect to crossover. Thoughts on No Man's Sky on the Switch 2, from a normally Steam Deck player [Discussion]

Finally, the patch is out that makes cross saves available on the Switch 2!

As someone who has been playing normally on the Steam Deck (LCD), here are my thoughts: The Switch 2 is a great device, but boy oh boy did Nintendo screw up the HDR calibration. It took me a long time to adjust my TV and the Switch 2 to something acceptable, and it looks like I may end up doing even more tweaking. Handheld it looks great right away, with no tweaking. The Switch 2 is graphically the way to go - the image I get with the Switch 2 is sharper and I'm getting more details. Graphically the Switch 2 is holding up better. Right now, the Switch 2 seems a bit crash prone, and it seems to load things a bit slowly. This is a bit unusual, as the Switch 2's internal storage ought to have plenty of speed. I double checked to make sure it was in internal storage. Cross platform synchronization seems to work well. I've been using Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the Steam Deck, and I'll have to get used to the new controls. Support for them in No Man's Sky for the Switch 2 would be nice. I'd really like a way to get rid of the chromatic aberration shader. It's a lot more prominent on the Switch 2.

I think that ultimately I'll be primarily be playing No Man's Sky on the Switch 2 to get the crisper graphics. It looks great.

Lost Sentinel Ship [Question]

So I tried my first jump through a galactic core the other day (just got the game a few weeks ago), and I didn’t realize that it would destroy all of my ship’s gear. It was my first (and a decent) Sentinel ship, so I took the time to get it mostly fixed up aside from a few parts. Well something happened to the effect of my launch thrusters ran out or something got damaged again (don’t remember exactly). But I think I used a teleporter to get my ship back to my freighter or a space station. Once I was on my freighter/space station, I switched ships to get to the inventory of another ship. Now I can’t summon my only Sentinel ship back bc it won’t fly in its current state and I have no idea where it is. Any tips on how to get it back?

“A mile wide but an inch deep” [Discussion]

I’m sure many of us have heard this saying as a critique of No Man’s Sky. I have 1200+ hours on this game, and have been playing it for almost 7 years. I obviously love the game, but I do understand and somewhat agree with the common argument that it lacks depth.

To me, there is clearly something missing from the gameplay. I’m not sure exactly what, but I’m hoping a discussion might spark in which I may figure it out. Does anyone agree? If so, what do you think could be changed/added to the game to make it “deeper”?

What's your most annoying task in NMS? [Question]

Just as a qualifier, I love this game, and I've been playing it off and on (mostly on) since December of 2016.

But I've recently been playing a Permadeath save, so after about 120 hours I've replayed through most of the primary missions.

The thing I find most annoying is having to run around the Atlas station triggering those stupid lights, one of four of which gives you an Atlas word. I always miss a couple, and have to double back, usually for no result. I hate it!

Game Pass NMS not creating a save folder [Bug]

Recently, i lost all my 65 hours save when Worlds Part 2 arrived. Since then, my game wasnt saving and i solved running with administrator. But now, he doesnt create a save folder, like 7_ahf8u2384dh3q0, like, you guys know, there's only the "DefaultUser" there. How do i solve this?

OBS: i want to use SaveEditor to try recover part of my progress.

Guys, i just found this absolutely beautiful star system with an earthlike paradise and a "moon-like" moon. Please help me come up with some planet names before i share! [Screenshot]

So the first one is an amazing lush paradise, sadly with some electrical disturbances going on from time to time. I was thinking about something simple like Risa or Terra Nova.
Second one is a moon that looks quite like ours though it is orbiting another planet. Luna maybe?
Now these are the ones i have no clue how to name:
3rd screenshot: A frozen world with ridiculous dense forests and a slight greenish screen filter.
4th screenshot: Lush planet, pink sky, fruit trees and some mushrooms.
5th screenshot: Toxic planet, clear blue skies, cacti and mushrooms.

Defend your freighter event [Suggestion]

Imagine you Minding your own business doing stuff in the game then suddenly you get a distress signal about your freighter being attacked by space pirates and you have to defend it like an actual space battle. And the more valuable loot you have in your freighter from frigate expeditions the higher chance your freighter will be attacked and if you lose the battle you lose certain amounts of cargo in your freighter same goes with other freighters attacking you for your cargo. Give me your honest opinions about it.

Weird glitch with settlement quest [Bug]

So as the title says, one of my settlement quests is telling me to start my first construction project with the overseer terminal, however, the terminal says there are no pending plans, and there is no construction zone anywhere in the village.

It still gets visitors and events like normal, but the quest won’t update, which also means I can’t retire as the overseer.

So... I made it to the second galaxy and accidentally summoned one of my other ships after initializing and before repairing the one I was using. Is it possible to get that ship back? [Question]

You see, I have this slight mental condition called stupid. I decided to start a fresh save after the Worlds part 1 update came out, and one of the things I was most eager to try out was the starship fabricator. I spent hours tracking down all my favorite parts for an S-class fighter and more hours on top of that finding the best upgrades to get as close to a maxxed out ship that I could. Despite spending time doing quests for other ships like the living, sentinel, and expedition ships, this fighter was my best ship in general, by a huge margin. I even named it after my dog.

I took the main story at a very slow pace, focusing more on exploring, learning languages, and other stuff like that. After about 60 hours or so on that save, I decided to binge the primary missions first so I could get the portal glyphs, and then so I could discover new galaxies and whatnot.

After ending up in the second galaxy, with all my stuff in disrepair, I got really impatient and instead of fixing the essential stuff I needed to use my ship, I just grabbed another one and started exploring. Now, I want my ship back, but I can't summon it anywhere because it's not in a space-worthy condition. Does anyone have a solution?

Is This Head Still Available to Acquire? [Question]

I am relatively new to the game - started in January this year. Been seeing this head a bit in posts & stuff, and I really loved it. I think its called "Construct Head: Crimson". I have just unlocked the autophage race, so I had a look for this at the terminals where you can buy autophage customisation parts, and couldn't find it.

I did some research and apparently it was a previous expedition reward.

Anyways, just wondering if there is any way to get this head for the autophage anymore or if it is now completely inaccessible to anyone who wasn't part of the expedition. Do some terminals have different options than others?

I recently became the Overseer of my first every settlement, and it's been hilarious. These people have been dedicated to the partying lifestyle. They're constantly asking to have festivals and do things like that while I'm desperately trying to keep them from spiralling into debt. I agreed to upgrade the housing as soon as they weren't actively losing money, and their first request upon my completing that goal is to ask for public artworks to display, increasing the settlement debt. Smh you little Geks have been drinking bottled water, living in wooden huts, and occasionally been dying to parasites on one of the most toxic planets on the galaxy, and you want PUBLIC ART above everything else? Fine then, have your artworks 😂

Can you get Expedition Frigates back if you dismiss them? [Question]

I can't find a good answer to this question, but I just want to know if I remove an expedition frigate (such as The Leviathan) from my fleet, if I can claim it again at the quicksilver vendor.

Moments in this game! [Screenshot]

I do not get enough time to play any more nowadays. But I love this game especially for these moments. A toxic planet, a new PS5 console, really enjoying all these reflections coming from a PS4. Fascinating colours on this planet and this was just after landing. The ship is custom and I call it Esme’s Resolve “Falcon”. I do not linger quite often on any planet long enough and keep travelling from one to the other hunting for sights and moments. No Man’s Sky is the perfect game that forces nothing, enables everything, and tailors the experience for every mood on any day.

Character movement bug PC [Bug]

Hey guys I just recently returned to the game and have been absolutely loving it! The game has been playing perfectly but now all of the sudden I have some kinda movement bug/glitch. Whenever im walking or running foward my character starts moving sharply left and right it happens especially worse when traversing uphill it's to the point where it's almost unplayable sadly.

Nutrient Processors In settlements [Question]

Started a fresh game to take advantage of the beacon patch from the beginning, started building and upgrading things in the settlement.. and a nutrient processor in the boutique saloon or whatever it's upgraded to... nice, can always use more access... however it's always in use.. the jukebox thing seems to work but I haven't been able to use the processor yet.. is it just there for decoration or is there some additional step I need to take for use of the device?

What a wonderful introduction to the community! [Discussion]

I never really research games before I play them, as I like picking up a random game off the shelf and discovering it all in the moment, but after encountering The Anomaly for the first time after 3-4 hours playing, I had to finally do some googling.

Somehow, after visiting, I had ended up with 10 'fusion ignitors' in my inventory, and my jaw dropped at the unit value. I thought I'd encountered some kind of insane bug, but after sifting a few posts on this subreddit, it became clear that it's a known thing for experienced players in the community to scope out players arriving in the starter ship and gift them a bunch of these.

I'm sad I never spotted the notif that some kind player had done this (until I got to The Anomaly I'd only barely begun to figure out it was a multiplayer game!), so in turn I'm putting this on the subreddit as a collective thank you. The fact that this is a common experience in playing the game is a credit to how awesome a community has been built up here, and I'm looking forward to discovering more of this game (and figuring out exactly what I should be spending all these units on!)

More hydrogen [Question]

Hey everyone. I feel like there's a constant lack of di-hydrogen in the game, it's commonly used for fueling the freighter frigates. Even tritium is easier to get (from asteroids) than having to mine every di-hydrogen crystal on every planet. Can I grow or craft them somehow? I know I can buy di-hydrogen jelly and disassemble them in a refiner for raw hydrogen, but those aren't commonly offered in space stations. I have plenty of rare end-game resources and all the crafting recipes unlocked, but the common hydrogen is always in short supply...

Autophagen systems? [Discussion]

Things are happening here in the "Abandoned Systems." I mean, before the last update the old stations only had a portal and a well let's say broken marketplace, but now there are also jetpacks, multitools and spaceship stations plus each station has a broken database room. Do you think the autophages will get their own system in the next update? Because "Abandoned Systems" have something to do with them 🤔

My PC is a Lenovo IdeaPad 11th Gen Intel Core i5, 16GB of RAM, and an Intel Iris Xe 128MB graphics card.

I have all my graphics card drivers updated. I've noticed that the game crashes every time I use the analysis explorer, which is launched with the "F" key. After using it, the game freezes, and I have to restart or shut down the PC to play again. This only happens to me with this game, and it's driving me crazy. Who else has this problem? How do you think this problem can be solved?

Decorations disappear in ocean base. [Bug]

The foundation, walls, electrical components, and larger decorations like a water tower and lights all stay, but when I add more detail with smaller decorations I’ll leave, come back or logout and they’re gone when I log back on for some reason. All the lights, moving parts, crates, flags, cables, etc. seen in the picture that make it look great are no longer there.

I had this issue with my freighter base too for some reason. Some decorations would disappear if I walked away and saved and a couple of custom colors wouldn’t have stayed on the walls or decorations. It was random too, it was never the same decoration that reverted back or disappeared.

It’s really frustrating as I can’t tell where I can and can’t build, and was really looking forward to an ocean rig setup but can’t add any details to it to make it look amazing. (The base is heavily inspired by another redditor).

Any advice/solution would be greatly appreciated!

Switch 2 Update 5.7.1 is nearly unplayable [Bug]

I’ve been playing NMS Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and ever since the new update it’s basically unplayable. Every couple minutes the game will blow out my speakers and then all sound will cease until it comes back and then repeats. It’s SO annoying and it legitimately hurts my ears when it happens. Plus, whenever I board my ship the pop in is insane. Everything keeps flickering in and out of existence until I leave. Both of these issues have made the game really unenjoyable, which is disappointing because I was having a great time. Anyone else?

Who else has finished their autophage settlement and didnt get the cool robot arm? [Question]

I didnt and i'm getting no more building options for the last 2 days now, so is this a bug or intended to be rng as to wether you get the option to build one?

If the latter that really sucks and im considering abandoning it in hopes i get one as i wanted something cool and unique about the autophage settlement that's different from the others, instead of say, 3 power "generators" that are visually very boring and dont actually do anything. So did this happen to anyone else or what because i havent seen it mentioned anywhere and im honestly left feeling quite disappointed in this update, sorry but it needed longer in the oven.

Large amount of crops yielding nothing, Googled the issue with no luck. [Question]

I am trying to build a farm that will give enough resources to craft 64 Stasis devices a day. I tore down the old farm, booted Excel and got to work for 4 to 5 hours on this, got it done and waited until the next day to see if I did my math right.

Most of the plants yield nothing. I googled the issue and most people have issues with the plants not growing, but my plants grow. I can harvest all from each biodome, and the little item card pops up on with an accurate count of what should be yielded from how many plants are there, but when I open my inventory the thousands of materials that SHOULD be there just are not. Not in exosuit, not in ship, not in freighter. I should mention that each biodome has 16 slots filled, with an additional 48 glitch-built into each biodome, totaling 64 plants across 25 biodomes.

Yeah, it took a long time.

Why is there a "Torpedo" below the hangar on Pirate Dreadnoughts? [Screenshot]

I'm editing the game's freighter hanger models for a new mod and I came across this thing below the hangar. I wonder if it can be seen and detonated by shooting at it. It seems like such a waste to include something like this and really not notice it. Although it is called "Torpedo" in the game file, it appears to be similar to the missiles on pirate frigates.

Can no longer build a base [Bug]

I'm trying to build a low orbit base but everything but walls/floors and prefabs are gone after i save and reload.

I am not above the height limit since items stuck around a couple of days ago and i have tried building way lower. And i am nowhere near my item limit since this is my second base and my other one only has a transporter on it.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Now, I always like titles, its a game marker of "yep, did that, remember THAT one, or didn't know about that activity".

I chuckle reading many of the died by titles possible ...such as *(your name) the Frozen, (your name) the Drowned " etc. I only own one of that type..Tingene the Hunted-that sweet memory of a predatory fauna planet and dying to the predators. How about you?

Big jump into black hole? [Question]

I was looking for a black hole to enter for the first time, I don't know the exact functioning of these holes since I'm new in the game, when I entered it took a long time to get out of it so I got distracted looking at my cell phone, and when I left I got the impression that it said 1,300,000 light years, something like that I didn't see the number well, unfortunately I have no proof of that moment, but according to what I've read there is no record of jumps of so many years like this so I don't know if it was that I saw the number wrong, the strange thing about all this is that at the top where the entire galaxy appears and your location in it I am completely on the opposite side of where I was before entering and even further from the center than before. Can someone clarify that for me? Was it really a big jump or was it a mistake on my part when seeing the number?

Automatic livestock unit and all the refiners annihilate all the resources present in them upon game restart. [Bug]

Is this a bug or intended behavior? I just lost a few stacks of milk and over 1000 di-hydrogen, simply because I forgot to remove them from the livestock unit and the refiner accordingly... this shit is very annoying! Happens every time I, and I can't be bothered to always them, especially if there are several of them on different planets.

Settlement "under attack" but nothing happens while I'm there? [Bug]

I've got the notification that my settlement is being attacked by a biological infestation (horrors, I'm sure) and that I should teleport there. Yet I've gone to this settlement multiple times and nothing happens.

Consequently, this is preventing other events from happening in my settlement and it's also making me scour my settlement to find where I was doing a building upgrade/construction at the moment. Anyone know a fix for now until this gets patched?

Best Way to get an Uncommon / Unique looking ship? [Question]

I've been playing the game on and off since release, admittedly no more than ~75 hours total spread across 3 separate save files so I'm still a comparative noob, but I've noticed that there are tons of unique looking ships whenever I visit The Anomaly, all piloted by other players.

However, at most space stations & settlements, I usually only spot the main archetypes of ship that seem to have been around (mostly) since launch.

I'm assuming that some of the more unique ships are from Expeditions, but there are none going on right now...

So my question is: is there any way to attain a uncommon / unique looking ship early in the game? Do you just have to get lucky and spot one crashed on a planet or parked at a station? Or are there quests that are relatively easy to attain that reward you with any?

I Want No Man’s Sky 2.0 [Suggestion]

I have many reasons for wanting this. First of all, although the first game is a great one, I want to talk about the things that could be much better. Without forgetting, these are all my personal thoughts and things I want in a space game.

1-In addition to randomly created space, planets and creatures, there are also different planets that are manually placed and designed, as well as cities and planets used in the main story. Although not many, there are only a few examples, especially specially designed planets that will be the main planets and cities of the main alien races in space.

2- The number of alien species in space should increase by perhaps 30 or 50 times more than it currently is. Some of these should be much rarer species, while others should be common species.

3-The multi-tool in the game should be completely removed. Instead, various weapons and tools such as guns, mining lasers, digging beams, shovels, and guns should be added to the game.

4- The ships in the game and the ship building system should be completely renewed. In my opinion, the only way to have an S class ship should be to build it ourselves. While building a ship or adjusting the features of the ships, features that affect the speed and agility of the ship in space or in the atmosphere should be added to the game. For example, a warship with large wings should be more agile in the atmosphere than in space. The speed and agility of the ships, turbo speeds, hyper drive speeds and warp drive charging times should be changed with the use of different ship devices. Modifications should be made between morotes, shields and weapons in a way that is effective and visible in the cockpits. More information should be given to the player in cockpit designs and we should be able to see more information by looking at the cockpit from different directions. I’ve been attempting to upgrade my A class frater to an S class. I have reloaded about 127 times warping to an opulent system. No joy. So tired of killing pirates.

If I switch to warping to a black market/pirate controlled system.

Is it a 5% chance of an S Class for both the dreadnought and the freighter that is in system? Do they always spawn with the same class?

Angering Bug Regarding The Overseer's Tour [Bug]

So this has happened a few times, and I don't know why it happens, my assumption is that it's a bug but if not, then idk how to prevent it.

Basically, I start the overseers tour mission, go to the planet they want me to photograph, return, and then suddenly the mission doesn't exist anymore and I have to restart it. While not exactly game breaking or anything, it is really annoying and mentally deflating, knowing I went out of my way to do something optional to get a decent reward, only for it to amount to basically nothing.

If anyone can offer any kind of help or insight or anything like that, that'd be great.

How to get NMS it not be a slideshow [Question]

I love this game but pretty much every time I try to play its performance makes it damn near unplayable, like unstable 5 fps, with the occasional 15-25 fps session which is actually playable, but only lasts half an hour usually. I set all graphics settings to standard, which honestly seemed to perform worse than high graphics. My CPU is Ryzen 5 2600 6-core, GPU is in image. My motherboard is pretty old, so maybe that's it? If there's any way it can be fixed without new hardware that would be ideal, but any advice helps.

I need help with cross save [Question]

Hi, a couple of days ago I found out that there are finally new slots available in cross save. I tried transferring my saves from PS4 to PS5, but it wouldn't let me, it did let me transfer them from PS5 to PS4. I sent a message to Hello Games, but it didn't help much. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It says Sync Error every time I try to transfer my data to PS5 from my PS4.

Freighter base [Question]

So I really like the builds where you use exterior catwalks surrounded by rooms to make multi-level freighter bases that look like shopping malls but unless I'm missing something there's no way to really seal it off to make it airtight?

Question about other players [Question]

So I was working on a new base that I made on one of the popular planets and while I was working on it I was also scrolling through pictures online(on my phone) of other people's bases to get inspiration for my base and to get ideas. So I wasn't really paying too much attention when this other player walked into my base. I noticed the player started standing by me but wasn't saying anything but he stood there for a few minutes without doing anything but was just kind of facing me like they were looking at me. I didn't pay much mind until all of a sudden out of nowhere sentinels appeared from thin air and started attacking me. I was so confused because this planet I'm on has limited sentinels and that was literally the first time I had ever seen them in that planet. I also wasn't doing anything in game so I was even more confused that they started attacking me because this isn't an aggressive sentinel planet. My question is this: can other players somehow summon sentinels and get them to attack other players? I didn't even engage them and just walked into my base because the AI can't handle that and the sentinels don't know what to do when you go into your own base. My 1 star went away and that other player left without ever saying anything to me. After my star went away I went back outside and the sentinels were still around my base and immediately went after me again. I ended up teleporting to my settlement and when I went back to my base after competing my settlement chores they were gone. This was such a a strange thing to happen. This happened yesterday and I haven't seen any more sentinels on the planet since then. Thanks for reading.

Please help with this [Question]

Hi there, can someone please explain how tf I can make it so I can just walk right into the vertical tube? Is it possible, or do I need to build another large prefab building on top of it? Every time I go to use this ladder it just glitches out and I can’t get below. It lets me use the ladder down low to glitch through the wall but that’s the only way to enter.

Also I apologize for the recording lol I play on Xbox on my tv and didn’t feel like screen recording and doing all that.

I remember when I started playing in 2021, I knew nothing about the game and I was terrible at it. There was a mission that told me to build a base, and I decided to build a tiny house there. Now it has two floors, a garage, two basement floors, a tunnel leading to a cave, etc. I'll have to give it a little interior refresh soon, there's still work to be done! Vulcan Initialization Failure on Multiple Devices [Question]

Howdy,

I love NMS, but whenever I try to mess with the graphics, I get this error. The link's information wasn't helpful, and other Reddit posts seem older or inconclusive, so I thought I would check up again.

I got this error on my laptop and assumed the laptop was too old, but now I get it on my Asus Ally X which should be able to handle high graphics. The Ally X is my priority since I want to play on that. No other game has trouble on high graphics.

On the Ally X, I tried repairing the game, restarting the game/system, and updates to Windows, Microsoft Store, MyAsus, Armory Crate, AMD Chipset, and the game. I tried deleting the OpenCL, OpenGL, and Vulkan apps; but they were not on my Ally X. I did delete TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS and TKGRAPHICSSETTINGSVR. MXML from NMS's binaries file, but it didn't work.

I can still play on the lowest settings, but it seems like a waste. Any thoughts what to try next?

9 Biomes - 9 Fishy Bases [Screenshot]

There are lots of helpful tutorials on where and how deep to get all the fish-ayyz, but I wanted themed fishing holes to chill in to help pass the time. So I just made them. I caught ALL available fish at these 9 biome bases. All bases are around 60-80 feet except Gas Giant (30-ish) and Oceanic (1300 ish)... you'll catch all fish at those depths bc I did it.

Also, every base has a palm tree and a light ball tree. If the palm tree's are moving, you know there's a storm above so you can catch the storm fish. If the light is glowing, you can catch the night fish.

Hard not to fall in love with NMS underwater. I made a video I'll attach for those interested.

Question about settlement negative traits [Question]

In the old system you could get traits that would overwrite negative traits on settlements. I have been building up this autophage settlement for about 5 days now but haven't had a single negative trait overwritten and removed. Are we stuck with the negative traits now? One of them I have has "occasional" population loss but it seems to be enough to completely stall population growth even though it has three upward green arrows, and I got one policy decision that said it would add 4 population but it only added 1.

Can we get a VR optimization? [Discussion]

I know a lot of the player base wants updates to the game itself, but I'd really love some sort of VR optimization. The game runs horribly, and I can barely ever play it without a crash, even with the graphics turned down.

My PC runs plenty of VR games like Half Life: Alyx, Skyrim VR, etc. and doesn't have any issues. I'd play this in VR all the time if it was a bit more optimized.

As of right now it feels like an afterthought, and that's a shame when this is the perfect VR game, IMO.

Add more land combat [Suggestion]

Is pretty lame that we only fight with the centinels. Becomes stale after few hours since the variety is pretty low and the boss is most of the time bugged (their AI is a mess, they ignore the player most of the times). They could add land combat via making predators and actual threat, adding pirates with their bases and caves with cool loot, some kind of police for when you have negative reputation for the system specie (there could be even a bounty for our head), etc

Negative reputation needs something [Suggestion]

Is a non sense that you can kill thousands of ships and cargos of a specie, get -400 reputation and everything stays the same. They sell to you, let you use their facilities, don't hunt you, etc

Adding mechanics for the sake of them but without making them matter is a waste of dev time that could have been used to improve what the game already had by the time. If you want to add a mechanic make it feel complete and make it matter

I hope they revisit this the same way they revisited settlements

Meta Quest 3S XBox [Question]

I have just seen the Meta Quest Xbox edition and was wondering if I was streaming off my xbox onto there would I get full functionality of the game or would it be limited?

I have seen somewhere that you can't do some things on the VR version of the game. I can't remember what the limitations were.

Help! 8bitdo Pro 2 Controller button swap [Discussion]

Hey guys! For anyone using the 8Bitdo Pro2 controllers or anything with the button layout same as a Nintendo Switch, how did you configure it on steam? I may have been doing something wrong. Here's the setting that I have: Turned on allow Nintendo Button layouts in the Steam setting I have a Nintendo Switch layout configuration on NMS itself

But none of it works. The game is still showing "Press B" and I still had to Press A on my controller, please help!

Beginner slots question [Question]

I'm constantly running out of slots in both my exosuit and plane. I know I'm not supposed to collect everything, but I don't know what's valuable. I got the free additional slot from the space station. I sell what I "think" will not be needed, but I'm still constrained with space. Any recommendations?

Settlements still have too many issues [Question]

I found a paradise planet on my perma save and was lucky enough to get a settlement chart on that planet on the first try. The problem is as soon as i get there it needs an item i have on my capitol ship so i call it right over my cool new settlement. Go up to get said item only to come out and the new settlement icon is gone. How do i find it?

Second issue im having is also making me dead stop with advancing a settlement. Why in the galaxy would i make a decision that are both negative for the settlement? Its just going to sit there like my main settlement has with a bad decision since i first found it. Thanks for letting me rant. just having a bad week.

It’s was the best place to get glitch lighting assets … in 10 minutes you could grab what you needed… now they are all vanished…. I spent an hour hunting and not one anywhere… beacons update pooped on my asset! It was not a bug they were just a lot of them and easy to spot….. dammit

Settlement new building missing interface [Question]

So approved a new building, but for some reason there's no interference to start the building process. Thought might be a rending issue so have tried both leaving the system and turning the game off and on :( anyone had a similar issue and found a fix?

Returning Player [Question]

Returning player with a few questions..

I love this game but goddammit is it overwhelming. Note that I am playing creative.

When scrapping ships, do I have to have it assigned as my ship first before I do that as id like to have a go at building my own. Is there an option to scrap multiple ships?

I read somewhere I could have another dreadnought capital ship but as a follower, can I do this and how do I do this?

Any tips for base building? I appreciate the snap feature but certain components wont snap together which is annoying. Ie the prefabs dont connect to individual walls etc.

I still haven't used the local teleporters yet, do I need to set up a cable from one to another? What if I wanna do it underground so I dont have to use a ladder.

I also see the mention of glyphs/coordinates, I assume thats to do with the singularity drive? Not got that just yet.

Can I set up capital ship battles or command it to attack?

Best planets to look for? Im always keeping an eye out for paradise planets, ill drop a portal there and come back to them later once ive had some idea for base building. I did have a redditor mention deep sea exploring which I do have a mission for. Apparently theyre good.

Apart from having the Gek(trade terminal) and the Korvax(research terminal) in my base. Can I have a prospering town and, not to be confused with the settlement which ive also been smashing. I have 2 but I wish the management was a bit more in depth.

NMS VR Crashes after trying PC Link [Bug]

As the title states, everything was working fine for me using virtual desktop to stream. I decided to try using the link cable I got, as it tested higher bandwidth than my wifi6. Big mistake. It runs horribly via the link cable. And now, when I go back to VD, it crashes every time I launch. Anyone run into anything similar? I've tried reinstalling the game, resetting my headset, resetting my PC, nothing seems to work. I can run the game fine in regular desktop mode, and it does launch via the link cable, but Virtual desktop crashes it every time.

The NMS advice someone gave me that changed my LIFE [Information]

I used to try in vain or take the long way round, to find wrecks and monoliths. I would keep using my signal booster, which would take me to everything that WASN’T what i wanted. Or, I tried to get lucky with charts.

Then someone handed down these two words to me: EXOCRAFT RADAR. Minotaur and Nomad combined find specific things effortlessly, even in abandoned universe mode. I’ve not used a star chart since.

Most of you probably know this since there’s ~1 mil people 😄 But I wanted to mention it anyway because it’s such an awesome feature.

Can someone please help me I don’t know why I’m blind [Bug]

I was doing the void egg quest and I did the portal to the planet, but suddenly I became blind. So I went to my restore point, thinking the portal had been griefed (every time I do a portal, I save my game just in case I entered the wrong glyphs) and I’m still blind (I’m no longer at the void egg planet). What do I do?? I closed the game, nothing. I reloaded the save, nothing. Help!!!!!

Lost my 300+hour save by getting stuck in a wall. [Discussion]

Got stuck in a wall on my freighter base and have “no data” for my last restore point. After an hour of trying to escape by building/editing I came to realize I’m trapped for good and will lose everything. Only thing I can think of is to get someone from steam to invite me or free me. Has anyone had this happen?

Nexus Mission help? [Question]

I'm doing a Nexus Mission called Erroneous Evolution (killing infestations) and while doing it I got jumped by Sentinels, and in doing so I got swarmed so I left in my ship in and went into the Anonmaly to get detach their AI from me. But now being back on that planet there is no marker so I can find the mission location and finish it, but I still have the Mission. What do I do?

Staff building and SC slot help. As I'm going through and building out a staff, I've noticed a "thing" with staff weapons, when building one they always seem to show 1-2 less SC slots than their level? [Question]

As an example: If I build an S class staff (if I'm lucky) at best it shows 3 slots with the last one typically row 4 or beyond. If I build an A class staff then it'll show 2 SC slots with the third in a locked slot if I'm lucky or in the 4th or beyond row. Is there any good reason the game does this or is it just because hello games decided to be jerks when it comes to staff weapon slotting? Yeah this is a bit of a rant, but I'm tired of going to Harmonic Encampments and always getting a terrible configuration at the terminal. And yes, I know I can just camp hop on a planet but that's just as useful/useless as going system to system. Any staff slot advice would be greatly appreciated. Especially if there's a decent way to somewhat predict what the SC slots are going to be on an A or B class staff before upgrading it.

Ich habe die Geschichte soweit durch und habe die Simulation neu gestartet. Bin in der neuen Galaxie aufgewacht und habe all meinen Krempel soweit es mir möglich war repariert, bin zu nächsten Station geflogen und bin durch den Teleporter zu meiner Basis gereist, um den Rest reparieren zu können.

WIP - Project Mega dome… [Screenshot]

Recently repurchased NMS for PS5 (I originally had it for my PS4 but hadn’t played it in years). Here’s phase one of a little project I’ve been working on (in creative mode) after watching a couple of Beeblebum’s videos on YT…

For those wondering, the base is a circle that is 50 ‘floor’ units from one end to the other and the top ‘ring’ sits at 20 ‘walls’ high…

How would you go about decorating / filling out’ such a big empty space? I was thinking of maybe turning it into some kind of stadium with seating, luxury boxes, merc stands, etc… any other ideas and/or tips?

ok i'm having ungodly horrible luck. I've been searching for a whole day randomly jumping trying to find a ocean planet with lithium with no luck. So......does anyone have a base on a planet with this material so i can add it to my catalogue for easier reference later. That and my water tower in the settlement needs that stuff hit rank S. as right now i cant click it to search for it. I just wanted 2 simple farms and ended up making a full blown Status Device farm [Information]

600-hour save. I figured it was time to give farming a proper go.

Started out humble, just wanted to try a Living Glass farm. A few sessions later, I was harvesting 26 a day. Not bad, but the profit felt mid, so I built a Circuit Board farm next. Joke’s on me, Solanium and Cactus Flesh take 16 real hours to grow.

Then I looked at the Stasis Device crafting chain and realized I was already halfway there.

That’s when it hit. I wiped nearly all my old bases, kept a paradise planet and a few dissonant worlds for interceptor hoarding, and spent the next week hunting S-class hotspots like I've overdosed on grahgrah and geknip.

I ended up with 2 S-class Gold hotspots, 2 S-class Silver hotspots, 1 S-class Oxygen hotspot, plus Nitrogen, Radon and Sulphurine extractors. I got Phosphorus and Dioxite mines, a full dome setup for all the plants, refiner loops for Parafinium (combine oxygen and silver in a refiner) and Ionized Cobalt (just mine some and you can recycle it by putting it in a refiner and adding oxygen), and the sanity of a Korvax who’s been awake for 600 hours.

I had to disable item stack limits for materials, but honestly, it’s doable in Survival or Permadeath if you plan it right.

Here’s what you need to make one Stasis Device: Frost Crystal 300 (Domes). Solanium 200 (Domes). Cactus Flesh 100 (Domes). Star Bulb 200 (Domes). Sulphurine 500 (Gas Extractors) Nitrogen 500 (Gas Extractors) Radon 500 (Gas Extractors) Condensed Carbon 200 (used in batches of 50) Faecium 50 (Your pet or in domes) Gamma Root 400 (Domes). Parafinium 250 (oxygen and silver in a refiner) Ionized Cobalt 150 (just make a shit load by putting it in a refiner and adding oxygen) Phosphorus 50 (mineral extractor) Dioxite 50 (mineral extractor)

It took a good week worth of work, especially building all the domes, solar panels,...

New friend showing up as question mark [Question]

I am trying to play with a new friend via steam and she has the game through game pass however when I send her a friend request she shows up as a question mark and we've been troubleshooting as to why. We both have online on. I have her on steam however she doesnt own it through steam so I cant invite through that. We have both turned off and turned on our games as well as we both have tried hosting games to see if it shows up otherwise. Im at a loss and I cant find anything on this.

Prep me for the storyline round 2 [Information]

This is my second time around playing the storyline. I played on my switch originally and have 100+ hr invested in the game. However it’s been a hot minute like 6+ months that I haven’t played since I had my daughter. There are quite a things I’ve forgotten. For starters- I know that part of the storyline takes you through black holes and it wrecks your shit. However I can’t remember if you die in that process? Do you recommend taking all your upgrades out of your ship and put into the exosuit? Any advice is welcome and don’t worry about spoilers since I’ve already played the full storyline before.
