Cannot load regular save after trying experimental [Question]

So.....I tried the experimental mode, and decided to go back to main. After switching back to main in Steam, it shows the attached error. Any way to resolve this and keep all the changes I've done in experimental? Or do I have to revert back to the backup save I made and lose all the progress I did?

I'm on PC.

EDIT: The pic is not loading for some reason. Error reads:

This save is from a more recent version of No Man's Sky, and cannot be loaded.

Game breaking glitch? [Bug]

Hey all! I just teleported to my settlement (Overseer's office has a teleporter)...while the office was under renovation. It loaded me in the building with no teleporter or door to get back out. Anybody seen this? Is this save cooked??

How rare are paradise planets? [Question]

As the title says how rare are these paradise planets?

I ask because in my 1st 100 hours I never ran into one. And this week alone I have run into two. Both with perfect weather.

1st one has a titan worm issue but not the 2nd one it would seem.

As described in other posts they aren’t exactly resource rich per se but are they rare enough that I should be building a base on everyone that I come across?

Starbirth Workaround Portals [Information]

Since HG seems unable or unwilling to lock out griefers at the singular mission objective during the Starbirth mission (or objectives during expeditions, for that matter) here are 9 alternate portals that might work as substitutes. The target planet for Starbirth is Axentha Sigma, the portal of which is recently the target of some pathetic griefer (may the stench of 1000 dung beetles waft inexorably from their armpits).

The left picture provides the portal glyphs on the other 5 planets in the system, as well as their distance to Axentha. The right of the picture shows the 5 portals in the Winston system which is a short 11 LY hop to Ischel-Althu. (Apparently, these planets were not popular with their discoverer.) Note "Even Worse" has aggressive sentinels, so I recommend avoiding that unless you feel up for the fight. (I landed there and did not see any sentinels - for whatever that's worth.)

How can I find better ships? [Question]

New/ old player here. Bought the game when it released and have played here and there. But wow playing in 2025 is amazing. I’m about 20-25 hours in but most of it’s been on currency farming, base building, exploring, etc… haven’t focused too much on the main story.

But I’m still using the default ship and want to get something better. I’ve done a few distress signal missions but haven’t found too many good ships with that. So what else could I be doing?

You can adopt creatures and RIDE THEM?

And how can I have sodium and Chlorine but not salt? Wtf is this? And I have yet to find even one single water planet. At this point I'm beginning to think that this area of the galaxy is the desert of the galaxy.

And how did you choose where you set up your base? I also found a settlement and they want me to be their overseer but I am NOT qualified for that yet.it's on a schorching hot planet BUT it's in the shadow of a giant shipwreck thing so that's cool. I'm also fighting sentinals with a mining laser because I'm not sure how weapons actually work yet.

I also found a new ship that's a beat up old POS that I'm fixing up. It's like that lemon car you bought off of the used car dealer who ripped you off but you don't care. Same feeling. Right now it's held together basically with ducktape and happy thoughts.

OH I'm also learning language from knowledge stones. Turns out this simple language translator is a piece of hot garbage. Awful. Waste of money. I've also had to change my pants a few times, I've been attacked by pirates and I've murdered all of them in cold blood.

Also does anyone else before they return to real life (which is boring compared to NMS) find a comfy seat on the anomaly so when you're at work you know your explorer is just chilling on the couch waiting for you to return? Is that normal? Do I have a problem?

No Man's Baking, I've now become a space baker (and my notes) [Information]

So, i've really gotten into the cooking and baking aspects of No Man's Sky recently. Its actually a relaxing and fun side gameplay loop and the introduction of the Nutrient Ingestor has made it even more worthwhile. TLDR; i have a little guide of what i'm doing at bottom.

I still feel the Nutrient Ingestor introduction went really under the radar in what it brings to the game and the newer, minor elements introduced in the last few years (ie pet companions and fauna farming at bases, cooking / nutrient processor).I've been playing around baking things between managing my settlements. Most time was spent on actually gather the resources needed which made me feel like a new player searching new planets / systems for my raw baking items needed.

Then i finally got curious about the Nutrient Ingestor and what the rewards / boosts were.. and well. HOLY CRAP!! Baking and cooking things is now worth it.. With the main items i make below, i can get anywhere from 4 - 18 million units per fauna, flora or mineral scan on new discovies when using said boosts in my ingestor. I landed on a planet with about 5 million units and left with over 180 million units. Been upgrading my custom made solar ship and man slots are expensive!! 1 billion units ain't much when doing a full upgrade.

So here is my little cheatsheet / recipe book and strategy, enjoy!

New gamer for nms I just got to my first black hole mission for finding the coordinates for the message for the anomaly, any tips on how to effectively get better financially, get new upgrades for my ship and also get a better ship. The game is seriously a time consuming game trying to learn mechanics , elements etc . I still have my first ship and i recovered another ship I think it’s an A ship but it has way too much repairs and stuffs to do .

I hope they let us own multiple freighters in the next update [Discussion]

Imagine calling in your freighter fleet and all this appears.

These are screenshots of civilian fleets that you save from pirates, and they really make me wish we could own fleets like this. Even if it was just esthetic and they didn't do anything, I want to own a fleet of multiple frieghters with the frigates scattered among them. They could be the system freighters that have no hanger so it wouldn't get too complicated with multiple freighter bases or multiple capital ships, or hell maybe we could have multiple capital ships too. I just want more freighters.

Another thing that would be amazing is a freighter fabricater, just like the ship fabricator. The system freighters are made up of several pieces that can be swapped out just like normal ships. These include different wings and thrusters, bodies, bows, and storage pod types. why not let us customize and build them? The devs definitely use a similar tool to make them so it could definitely be done for us.

This would fit with the theme of some of the other updates of expanding your own galactic empire, and what better way than expanding your fleet.

Never have I seen a "cluster" of systems in a straight line on the galaxy map until now [Video]

Was just chillin trying to warp to another system using my freighter, ran into this cool cluster, genuinely reminded me of the Big Dipper.

Almost a decade worth of experience and gameplay and I've never ran into a pattern/instance like this, makes me wonder what other constellations other players have ran into.

MUST DO’S [Question]

Hey y’all! i’m somewhat new to the game (not really, i’ve been playing for months and have over 70 hours in my current save) but i really have no idea what i’m doing. regarding the storyline, i have completed almost every quest that i have been given and i mainly just explore different planets. i was recently playing while my boyfriend watched me (he’s the one who introduced the game to me) and we went through the whole process of acquiring a blueprint for a dream aeriel so i can eventually get a lifelike fauna ship or whatever it’s called lol. just wondering what else i’m missing out on?? i really enjoy the game and would love some pointers on what else is out there!

If HG wants to make all the waiting for settlement-related stuff to feel more worth it they should just give us base building privilages within the settlement radius. [Discussion]

All the waiting is kind of painful. Yes, there is a hell of a lot of game out there, so much so that I often forget some of it which I think is on purpose. It does make the game feel more "alive" in that there's animal husbandry, abandoned buildings to explore, derelict freighters, base building, agriculture, freighters, trade routes, and much, much more. So don't get me wrong, I am aware that there is more to do than sit and wait 2 hours for each of three building pieces to finish or and hour and a half for each individual building to upgrade but I'm really, very interested in my settlement and want to have more fun with it!

Prior to whatever recent update there was which "fixed" the bug where we could expand the base building radius by placing pieces outside that bubble this wasn't an issue but as I and many other have now discovered, we can no longer do that. So I can only effectivley decorate my half my settlement before the camera won't move anymore.

Hello Games, Sean Murray, the team that has worked so hard to bring us No Man's Sky, please just give us base building authority within the settlement radius. Please. It is our sort-of base after all. If it's a worry about too many objects in a small area, which is likely the reason why building within this radius isn't allowed, causing strain on your servers, make it so this particular base can't be uploaded.

I want to decorate my settlement. Esspecially now that piece snapping has been fixed. I love the way all the settlements look, I just want to add a little pzazz to it! Some paths and flags and what-not.

C'mon, guys. Let me be creative with it!

So Ive already done this multiple times before to take cool pictures but never in a gas gigant and the feeling is terrible lol a normal planet or moon will slowly start to pull you until you just start freefalling but this time it just fliped my character right away and that was scary and in picture mode it kept fliping my camera controls thats why I look disoriented most of the time but its so much fun I hope they never remove this bug. Have you done it before?

i ' d like to think i have done quite a bit in game , finished all the quests , made quite a few bases , got almost .. all the ships i would have liked , s class freighter , a whole fleet of frigates etc .

i just feel like there ' s not much for me to come back too but i don ' t want to just leave , at least not feeling unsatisfied to do so .

i have about just .. 100 on game and i understand that some folks have spent vast amount of time comparatively to mine and have a vast understanding of the game .

what do you guys do to keep coming back to the game and keeping at least fun enough ?

i would enjoy it much more if there wasn ' t a limit on getting ships and what not .

Ore Deposits — Switch 2 [Question]

So, I stopped playing a while back, and recently got back into it for Switch 2. I’ve used the Analysis Visor to find the Ore Deposits, but I’ve been noticing — even when there’s no trace left — the marker doesn’t go away. As though there’s still a speck left. Then, when I scan for whatever I’m missing, it shows that there should be Ore where I’ve already mined?

Am I doing something wrong, or…?

Sad to upgrade consoles 😢 [Discussion]

Small flex to start: I'm a day one player. Not a fanatic about the game, it's just that I keep on coming back to it every few months. I played on PS4 and had S-tier everything. Cool artifacts. But my greatest achievement (for me) was that I went to the outer rim and the center just by jumping. It was an adventure, I saw many strange and wonderful things.

Anyhow. I upgraded to PS5, and a can still play the PS4 version, but I want the upgraded experience.

So now, after years of exploration I'm back at the beginning. It's bitter sweet. But I'm ready.

I'm having trouble completing the fish catalogue. Im trying to finish up the haunted page I still need atlantidium crab and the child of helios. I tried googling the child of helios and how to catch it and... lmao all the search results take me to the space encounter stuff and Google says it's not a fish to be caught...what gives? Will the space encounter check this part of my fishing catalogue off or what?

How is all of this randomly generated? [Screenshot]

I think what makes this game so magical is that the beauty is not manufactured (obviously, assets have been made and there certainly must be some rules in place that have taken aesthetics in mind), there's plenty of "ugly", brown and dull places in the galaxy, so stumbling into certain assortments, just being at this exact place on this exact planet at that exact time makes the beauty of it a million times more magical.

... Or maybe I'm just intellectualising all of this as an excuse for another photodump, you decide!

Is there a trick to guiding settlement development? [Question]

I’ve got two autophage settlements that I love. And one has let me build two of the awesome new crane arms. Which are awesome aesthetically! And I want more. But the other settlement hasn’t had a single crane suggested for it. Is there a way to re-roll the suggestions/settler construction proposals? I want more crane! No more marketplaces or space docks! I’ve tried leaving and doing other stuff. And it’s only changed suggestions once to something equally boring.

I haven’t really noticed, but do upgrading buildings in your settlement change the look of them? Like I think it would be awesome to have that incorporated into the game!

Cross save issue [Bug]

I own the PlayStation version and decided to re-buy the game for switch 2 and utilize cross save.

I started a new game on switch, played a few hours and loaded the save up on ps5 pro and put another few hours into it, all worked well untill i decided to go back to the switch 2 and the save file now says its from a newer version of the game and wont load on the nintendo but everything is up to date.

Is there a fix for this?

Camera while flying the ship [Question]

So this may be a stupid question. I'm kind of new to the game, currently playing the Switch 2 version, but there's one thing that gets under my skin which is piloting the ship. I've already inverted the Y axis which is more intuitive for me, but the other thing I can't seem to get around is the camera setting, I prefer to pilot in 3rd person, but the issue is more or less the same with 1st person, the camera has this auto centering mechanic which throws me off, maybe I'm missing something or some setting that allows this to be different, I've seen footage of other people online and on this sub and they don't seem to have the same issue. My gameplay while flying the ship ends up looking all wobbly because the camera is always auto centering, isn't there a way to look one way with the right stick and have it stay there instead of auto centering? TIA

Short range teleporters on freighter not powered [Question]

No matter where i put the teleporters on my freighter they always show that theyre out of power and wont do anything.

The large teleporter has also shows that its out of power but actually works.

Is there any fix? Ive looked into it and none of the solutions ive found have helped.

a new beginning? [Question]

hey y’all,

so i’ve got like… maybe 10 hours on my current save? i tend to play no man’s sky on and off, sometimes i’ll disappear for weeks and come back completely forgetting what i was doing lol. was wondering if it’s even worth continuing this save or just starting fresh with a clean slate?

also, while i’m here, what upgrades should i actually focus on early game? like exosuit, ship, multi-tool… i get overwhelmed with all the stuff you can install and end up doing nothing 😂 any “must-haves” i should prioritize?

What’s the go to thing to do now? [Question]

As title says, I last played for the Next update but that was only a few hours think maybe 20-30 before that was Artemis update. Advice for a new player [Question]

I imagine this gets asked a lot so sorry if I’m repeating!

I’m a new player, bought over the weekend and am absolutely loving the game. However, after playing a few hours I did have a few questions for those who have played a bit more:

how important is S tier gear? Currently, I’m trying to find an S tier Starship - I’ve got an A tier one already and also an A tier multi tool. Is A tier fine for now? Is it worth expanding the storage space/upgrade slots for both the A tier starship and the A tier tool, or worth holding off until I get an S tier one?

how do you find more Starships to scrap? Currently I’m just rinsing the emergency maps but given that only 1/5 actually give you a starship to scrap. I’d like to build my own if possible but currently it looks like it’ll take forever to repair enough starships to scrap for the parts

is there a best type of starship? Should I go for fighter, solar etc?

should I be base building? I know I’ll love the base building (it’s all I did in Fallout 4) but at the moment I’m just enjoying zipping from the space station to the planet surface to hunt for exo suit/emergency signal maps plus missions. I haven’t built any bases since the tutorial mission

what unlocks/upgrades/purchases should I be prioritising? I haven’t yet got a freighter if that is any indication of how far through the game I am

(My Survival mode #1) Warping should be limited [Suggestion]

I created/revamped No Man's Sky survival game mode to an actual gameplay oriented game. Please don't take this the wrong way: No Man's Sky is my absolute favorite game, it's more than a game... But I do wish it would have a game mode with more of a traditional structure and challenge so that it doesn't constantly have to rely on excitement and speculation regarding an upcoming update, but is an actual goal, end goal oriented game with constant progression...

I have it on paper, but since it is too long and consists of various things such as complete overhaul of ship classes, missions and mission types, resource spawns, enemy and equipment upscaling, etc, I thought I tested the waters and begin with introducing core concepts and see how community reacts and then provide further posts (or not) depending on interest.

So, the first thing is - warping from system to system is limited.

Goal in this game is to reach the center of the galaxy (I have a story element/lore reason for it too). You start with a basic, claseless starter ship without warp capabilities in a system on the edge of Euclid. There are two ways to warp from system to system, via Freighters that act as ferrys or via explorer class starship if you have one, but which have limited warp capabilities. Until you have your own Freighter or Explorer, you really on npc Freighters to bring you to a new star system closer to the center, which warp near space stations every once in a while and will transport you for a fee.

Later on, when you acquire an explorer or a freighter you can warp yourself, but depending on the freighter/ship class and the class of your warp engine on the said ship/freighter, it will mean more of a cooldown between being able to make the jumps and it will lessen or increase the likelihood of your warp engines breaking down between jumps and you having to gather resource to...

I'm glad I gave this a try [Discussion]

Long story short I recently asked in the sub what the game was about more or less as I never understood it, and most answers were on the side of "space Minecraft" "do what you want" "make your own story"

I kinda believe it's a disservice to the game. Yes the game is not interstellar narrative wise, but there is a "main mission" there's some sort of guidance when you begin to set you through the right path while experiencing some sort of lore. What made me want to try the game was that I'm somewhat a space junkie and I like a lot space stuff (and starfield aside from some narratives really left me hanging).

Grabbed the game on a sale and said, if I don't like it at worse I didn't lose much. So glad I jumped in, 21 hours in and I'm hooked to the game, following the missions and on the path gathering resources to upgrade my character, ship, freighter etc.

I think the vision of the game when you have 400 hours is different as to opposed to when starting, and when you have that much play time where you basically do what you want to when you log in, doesn't make it right to the game when telling it to a newcomer, I basically thought I was gonna get dropped in a planet starting and basically be told nothing and do my own thing, that was not the case!

I have found a really cool living ship on the exchange and that brings me to me question about travel. Can I decide what new galaxy I want to go to or do I have to go through them one at a time to get there without a taxi? The one I want to go to is Sudzerbal. Issues with mouse sensitivity [Bug]

I've been trying to get back into NMS after I saw the Beacon update.

But I've been having huge game breaking issues with my mouse sensitivity.

In the main menu my mouse flings all over the place even at the most minor touch and when it reaches the border of the screen it jumps back to the middle.

In game I also have huge issues with sensitivity as making a minor turn causes me to do a full 180.

I've tried changing visual settings and windowed modes but whenever I do so I get an error that says "Vulkan initialization error" and I can't find the Vulkan drivers for my Nvidia GPU anywhere.

I've also tried changing polling rates which helped a tiny bit with sensitivity but it still gets flung around like crazy.

Any ideas? If required I do also have clips to showcase what I'm talking about.

what are the chances… [Question]

this morning i was playing on a system /planet that i had discovered first contact. i was on hot planet that i also discovered, it was one of those tricky planets that has lots of creatures and that one elusive underground critter that i couldn't find. so i left for a bit and came back, only to discover another player had renamed my planet from something like Culu IX to 'Boiling' lol - not gonna call out their player name and not mad cuz i didnt upload the planet so thats on me...

what puzzles me though...this is in an uncharted system in the galaxy 'Loychazinq' (galaxy #21) at around 600,000 light-years away from the core. this area is literally the middle of nowhere, it aint Euclid beginner territory. and yet naming a planet 'Boiling' seems like a newbie move 🤔🤔🤔

Question for those in the know [Question]

Relatively new player I have a couple questions that have bugged me and I'm hoping someone on here will know!

What is the point of, sorry I cannot think of their actual title, plant specialist that you bring to your base and then to your freighter? The base I get cuz it's essentially a tutorial and free blueprints, but he doesn't actually farm anything. And then I got the room that brings him to your freighter but once again it doesn't seem like he does anything? Am I missing something? Does he farm on your behalf? If not what is the point of that room??

All those "stats" on your settlers..... these are essentially flavor text right? I haven't seen any way they affect choices or happiness or anything. Which if true is slightly disappointing but I hope they find a way to plug that into the system so they feel meaningful. Not gonna lie the most recent beacons update is what brought me to the game. Settlement management is right up my alley but as it stands now, it's kinda lack luster. I get that building certain buildings will unlock certain production later on, but that by itself makes it rather a hollow choice. Those building choices do not have any real affect on my settlers. They do not have any wants, likes, dislikes. The choices are mainly what products do you want and potentially a slower route to being in the green because of a less production output.

I have REALLY enjoyed learning this game and playing it! Exploring all the beautiful areas of this game and have been honestly surprised by how much I've enjoyed it! So don't take this as any kind of hate toward the game, but I do hope they build out the settlement management more. Make them feel more of an organic thing. Make talking to the settlers important to find out their wants and needs instead of a useless flavor page, have the settlers actually doing stuff around settlement, have some take pride in their areas...

It's getting Boeing, help [Suggestion]

I’ve been playing NMS for over 30 hours now and it’d be way more fun with some bros. There are missions you literally have to tackle with other players, but whenever I try to invite people to my party they just ignore the invite lol, so I can’t finish those quests. Playing solo is getting kind of boring. I’m that player who takes the game seriously—I’m not looking for kids or randos, I want real bros to squad up with while smoking weed XD. It sucks, but oh well. Got any tips for finding legit people to play this awesome game with? It’s too good to drop just ’cause I can’t find a bro. Anyway, I guess weed is bro now.

Increasing population [Question]

I have a couple questions about settlements. This is my first settlement and I am still pretty new at this.

Is there a way to increase the population. I have plenty of space available. Does it just happy naturally over time?

Regarding the sentinel level. I have anti-sentinel turrets but I was wondering if there is a way to have more protection from sentinels when I am not around.

The first pic is probably the best I've taken in the game. The last is the second.

It's a Gek 2 star economy and level 2 conflict. It has wine coloured nebula, which turns the night time sky on these 2 planets absolutely amazing. The first is Temperate, the second is Reeking. Also, there are 3 stars, although it is officially catalogued as a Yellow star system.

NMS reminds me of BOTW and TOTK. [Discussion]

I haven’t played many hours yet, I just jumped in and play it while listening to IT Certification Exam Reviews so I give my eyes a break from notebook paper. Anyway, it 100 percent reminds me of breath of the wild, except it’s very dependent on material gathering and crafting and there’s less enemies to fight. Although, I will say sentinels are a mf to fight when you start off. And gathering nanites is hell.

Riding companions? [Question]

Just curious if I'm missing something here, I've tamed a companion and I'm trying to ride it, and I tamed a second different one to test but both of them only do the running animation and move basically the same speed as walking or even slower at times. Do the companions when ridden just have horrible collision with the world and keep getting stuck or what's the issue? As it is now, it seems as though it's a largely useless button as standard walking with my traveller is faster.

Bases half disappear [Question]

Ok, so I'm quite a new player. I decided to pick up the game on Switch 2 for the first time to give myself something other than Mario Kart to play. I'm about 15 hours in and finished my first sizeable structure last night to work as a home base for this star system. I load back in this morning and half the base is gone. I did very minimal terrain modification (flatted a bit of ground less than 1m) and there's now a tree where there wasn't at all yesterday. I see a lot of people like building, is there a trick to saving stuff? Is there even a point if it all disappears when you start the game again?

Anybody else like giving away creature eggs at the Nexus? [Discussion]

I've got around 400 hours so far and while I know the companions I have are likely far from the very best there is to find, they are quite unique in that I've never encountered anything like them before. Like my favourite flying creatures, for example. I've got a strange floating ball which reflects the landscape all around, and a weird fish-looking thing that farts blue gas in a trail behind it. As well as the classic fully evolved butterflies and dragonflies. Right now I have lots of copies which I'm waiting to mature so I can farm them for eggs to give away at the Nexus. I aim for players coming out of starter-ship looking craft, because they're likely new and could use a good flying creature or a fast dino thing or something more obscure. Whenever I play I usually start by hitting the daily quicksilver mission, so I don't really need to go far out of my way to do it. I just warp to the system where I have both a scorched and unusual planet and I can harvest the eggs in a matter of minutes, then it's straight back to the Nexus to dish them out. I love seeing people's reactions, some of them are so happy with the gestures when they see a 'fartfish Mk.4' pop into their inventory. I also give away nipbud. Because of course lol

Can’t Activate Settlements [Bug]

Hello! I have about 250 hours into the game and I’ve completed all major storyline missions. However, I still do not have access to settlements. When I go to a cartographer, settlement maps are not an option for me. When I look at my places, camps, and space stations to warp to, there is a spot for ‘settlements’ but it is grayed out. The only thing I can think is that I somehow dismissed the mission that introduces settlements. I’m hoping someone can help me find a way to reactivate this or at least point me in the right direction. Any help is much appreciated!

On the Hunt for Paradise… with this Baby Beast [Screenshot]

Decided to stop and snap a few pics of this big girl 😂 — still can’t believe she’s only a baby.

She’s already ready to induce an egg just 24 hours after hatching, which caught me off guard. I’m lowkey still learning how the whole companion aging system works — she’s been a baby for about a week and a few days now, and I’m just waiting for her to grow up. Anybody know the actual timeline for that?

I found this proto-gek species on a wild planet someone posted glyphs for on Reddit. Lost track of the original post, but I made the trip anyway and ended up claiming one instantly. It dropped an egg — I took it straight to the egg sequencer after waiting for it to be ready to hatch. I sequenced the growth hormone six times hoping for an ENORMOUS result.

On my old save I had a similar companion that was more orange and just as round, but when I deleted that file, I lost it — been trying to fill that void ever since. This one feels like that old energy came back full circle.

I’m also out here planet scouting, tryna find a paradise world… but that’s another story for later.

Default Cargo Scroll Position [Question]

NOTE: I am on PC if that changes the answer to this question.

When I open my exosuit inventory the technology is default scrolled to the top BUT the cargo is default scrolled to the bottom. Is there a way to get the cargo to default scroll to the top when opened? Is there a setting or something?

ALTERNATIVE: Is there a way to always have cargo maximized when I open it? I rarely change my technology.

Terrain manipulator [Suggestion]

So basically everyone knows that the Flatten Module from the Terrain manipulator deletes Terrain that is higher than the selected height, but i also wish that it would create Terrain when it's lower than the selected height. Could be just me, but it would make it so much better to make flat surfaces.

I see they have updated this game again and I am wondering if they have finally fixed the multiplayer syncing issue.

Last time I played it with my buddy the weather and the animals/ships/monsters were not synced.up and it was extremely immersion breaking for me since I wanted to enjoy this game with a friend.

Tonight I managed to enter a narrow cave with my starship, and survive the experience. I immediately thought it would be cool to improve this kind of exploration, that among other things strongly reminds me Star Wars (when Han Solo and the crew entered the asteroid with the Millennium Falcon).

As you can see from the screenshots, my starship has that weird surface texture because it was continuously bumping the walls of the cave. It would be so cool if HG could improve the collisions between the surfaces, and a more precise way to control starships and exocrafts in narrow spaces! It would open a new way to explore and it would be possible to explore giant asteroids in space, not just shoot them for resources.

Just an idea, that's it!

New player, draw distance problem ? [Question]

Hello community !

I took the PC Game pass recently and decided to give a try to No Man's Sky.
Everytime i saw a new trailer update i was blown away by how good and infinite it looks !
So I have like 8 hours already and i'm really enjoying it, it's so peaceful !

But there is something that destroys my immersion, it's the draw distance.
I have every graphic option maxed out on Ultra, 4K, running smoothly, but i don't know why i can see the grass only 20 meters away, and i have a loooot of popping in. (And it's even worse when flying with the ship).
I found a mod on Nexus called "Fine LOD" and installed it but it didn't resolve that draw distance issue.
I took a screenshot but can't put it here i don't know why.

Does anyone have a solution for this ? Is there an option i forgot to turn on ?

I'd like to say a massive thank you to the people who inspired me to start over. It has been a hell of a month, and it's only the beginning!

I wanted to seek for your guidance once more, since Google has been of no help. I want to build my home at some point, once I finally find the planet I feel will be right. And as of recently, I discovered that you can place fossils as decorations without having them on a display. And I was wondering, are there other treasures I can look for during my adventures?

I'd love to have my office filled with physical trinkets and treasures from planets distant. Excluding Quicksilver, of course.

Electric Fauna Missing [Question]

I recently found my first mechanical planet and decided to make this ball of lightning my companion. But when I wanted to learn more about the creature I noticed that there was no entry in my discoveries with the model of the creature and even in my companions list it doesn't appear. Even when trying to summon it there is no model for it and is even missing the circle that goes around all summons. Could this be a glitch or is the model invisible and only made up of lightning effects?

Base Side Mission/Farmer Help? [Question]

I'm trying to progress through the base-related side missions, and am currently on the one called "Agricultural Research" where I need to find a Gek Farmer to hire. Problem is, the one the mission has designated I go get is one of the Geks where their model has textured/scaled eyes. I have BIG PROBLEM with textures and eyes and a combo is the woooorst, phobia levels of can NOT look at their face or I feel super nauseous.

I spend a lot of time at my base and would be seeing them frequently. The mission can not be abandoned and/or restarted (if it can idk how). Is there any way to re-roll the Farmer's model? Or am I stuck with the one the game randomly picked for me? 😭

Interceptor Advice [Question]

FINALLY, after finding 10+ different models found naturally spawning S interceptor (on the first one) that i liked the look of and plan to keep. Just wanted to see thoughts on base stats after i threw on pulse drive upgrades from old ship and infra knife. If needed will take off upgrades to show base stats. Hotspots are okay from the ones i can see, string of 2 (hopefully third somewhere around there) and 1 single I can throw infra knife on. Just wanted to confirm it’s got decent stats to upgrade off of before i pour the starship storage augments i’ve found on it. only 1800 maneuverability was hoping for 2000+ after upgrades but might need to maximize upgrades more down the line. Let me know how it’s looking and what potential upgrades I should shoot for.

When Worlds 1 dropped (I think) the biome changed for the planet my settlement is on. Now there are these giant trees all over, which I do love. One happened to show up right in the middle of one of my landing pads. The tree can't be mined, and I can't move the landing pad or dig to try and delete the tree because it's my settlement. I've even resorted to ramming the tree with my starship and placing exocraft platforms near the base of the tree to try and break it. Any ideas on how to get rid of it, or is it stuck forever?

I can't progress in a mission [Question]

I found a freight destroyed on a planet, and I have to find a couple of boxes that apparently have a very good cargo.
My problem is that one of the cargoes is under a mountain, which, for some reason, I cannot use my multi -tool to break and get the box

Is there any way to open the box? I don't know if the mission continues later, but there was an recorded message from a passenger from the freighter

New Player (Switch 2) [Question]

I have many questions.

But for now I suppose I'm just curious on some advice on general things to focus on first. My playtime says I've got about 10 hrs in already, I've only just left my initial star system. What kind of things should I absolutely be holding onto and what can I reliably sell? as inventory is very limited for now. For instance, rancid flesh. The game prompted me that a space pirate saw the rancid flesh in my inventory and that it was valuable. I see it sells a decent price but not as much as the eggs(which I already sold). So should I wait til I get the nutrient processor or just sell?

General info on topics of this nature would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone in advance.

P.s really enjoying the game so far, it's a nice casual thing after work.

Is anyone else experiencing issues connecting to the NMS servers on PS5? I just saw that my PC save was finally uploaded to cross-save, and I wanted to test it on PS5. Now, I don’t see a cross-save option, and I have a persistent “connecting” message in the corner of my screen.

Also, just in case it matters, I don’t have PS Plus. I know that disables multiplayer, but I’m pretty sure I still have access to stuff like expeditions.

Settlements: max pop, happiness, productivity, S class..what’s next? Anything? [Question]

So I achieved max stats for my original settlement. No fireworks? Or anything? Mission complete? Something?

I guess I kind of expected there to be some kind of closure or achievement/ milestone unlocked.

Nothing happened though. Just a bunch of happy Geks living on a frozen moon wandering around as usual lol.

Shouldn’t a maxed out settlement deserve some kind of recognition?

Does anyone if these metrics even matter in the end?

8-Bit Loop (Starship Racetrack) [Video]

I tried so hard to get a good lap in. lol.

Just an idea of a starship race track. The thing that really sucks about building a starship sized racetrack is the distance limiter. Double tapping B for 2 minutes straight is not fun at all. I'm hoping HelloGames does a build update so that we can really build some awesome racetracks.

Just started playing No Man's Sky for the first time ever (on the Switch 2). It looks fantastic.

Advanced Miner [Question]

I've tried using the advanced miner in several ways, including placing it on top of an ore and energizing it with a battery connected to a solar panel, but nothing happens. Why do upgrade modules sell for much less nanites once archived into a wiring package? And how do I convert an archived wiring package back to an upgrade module in my inventory? [Question]

When I first acquire a new upgrade module it has a colorful icon (bright blue, yellow, purple, etc.)

If I sell this to a technology merchant, I can usually get a pretty decent amount of nanites (e.g. 505 nanites).

But...if I want to sell the upgrade module after I've already installed it into a multi-tool slot...I have to first store the module as an "archived wiring package" in my inventory (which turns into a grey icon)

...and I can only get 16 nanites for it.

Why does this happen? And how can I convert an "archived wiring package" back into the original bright-colored upgrade module in my inventory so I can sell it for a higher value again?

(I'm very new to the game)

When I first started the game, I had around 8 health points. I think there's a bug in my settlement because every time I travel there, a Sentinel raid starts, always with a big Minotaur unit. I've visited the settlement about 8 times at different times of day, and the raid happens every single time.

During one of those visits, I died (at the time I had all my health points filled). After reviving, I noticed that I now only have 3 health points, and I can’t increase them any further. My exosuit is fully repaired, and all technologies are charged, so I feel like I must be missing something.

I even built a medkit, but it says my health is full. However, those missing points haven’t come back. How can I recover them? With only 3 health points, every fight is extremely difficult, I can only shoot a few times before I have to run and hide, or I’m done for.

New to NMS and looking for advice [Question]

Hey folks. Just recently picked up NMS and I'm kind of in a pickle. And by pickle, I mean a toxic green planet that chews through my environmental protection and storms all the time. As of writing this, I'm huddled in my crashed ship waiting for the storm to abate so I can find iron and oxygen. Is it just how it is or did I just pull the short end of the RNG stick?

How long to get to another planets/cluster? [Question]

I'm new to this game, and only just exploring the nearby planets. Idk if everyone got same planets cluster when started, but none of the planet is pleasant to explore. (Hazardous af, and my sodium often depleted fast.)

Mods for the nag screens? [Question]

There's two things that irritate me the most in the game and I tried searching the mod nexus but maybe I'm just not using the right keywords. There's two things I want to eliminate.

  1. The constant nag messages in the lower right that show up just because I happen to have a particular chart in my possession. I've just been destroying charts to get them to go away. I tend to do them in batches and don't need to be nagged about it every 5 minutes. In fact if I could stop that entirely it would be preferable.

  2. The slow music infused screens when you land on a planet you need to cancel out of, or the other odd times it decides the "cinema" of the game is more important than you actually playing it. Can that be disabled entirely? It was novelty the first 5000 times but now it's just a built in delay.

I would have thought the second pic was sea of thieves if I didn’t take it myself, I was very happy to finally find my perfect system that I could call home, and you can too!

An entire system where intelligent lifeforms have been... erased? [Screenshot]

The system is registered as Gek territory, and yet... no Gek in sight anywhere. No Korvax, no Vy'keen either, for that matter. In fact... not a single form of life encountered anywhere, aside from flora and a few hostile creatures.
The space station alone was already a big warning that something was wrong upon arrival. More screens and data coming soon.

Save won't load [Bug]

Hello i have nintendo switch 2 and got no man sky on it, I would change the time on my console amd accidentally went by a 11 days and the game saved on it. Now when I try to reload the save on the present time it just wont load. It will only load if I set the time on the console on the same day of the save. I do not know what to do. I try to reload old save and go try to get a old save from clod and it wont work. Idk of I'm supposed to wait it out until 11 days pass or I use a save editor. If you need anything Imkk please help me

Items NOT to give other players? [Question]

NMS was notoriously buggy in the beginning and after the later big updates when quests broke and progressing was bugged when you have certain items before quests triggered or were gifted them.

Is this still the case? Or better asked, which items should be given to new players and which should be avoided while gifting items?

Im at a state in my game where i basically unlimited amounts of the basic items or at least access to them since i have all upgrades on everything and some rare stuff here and there i have found and dont want to break other peoples games by giving them something that will bug their game...

Can we get an actual patch? [Discussion]

What is going on? Why have we not seen a fix for all of the things they broke with the Beacon update? Is everyone else having a perfect time, or am I just unlucky?

I primarily play on Series X, but I run the game on my PC if I feel like playing in VR. Salvaged base building textures still don't load properly.

I will load into an Autophage settlement, and most of the parts will be transparent with blue light squares and rectangles. Sometimes, if I stand still and wait long enough (literally minutes), they will pop in, other times, they just won't ever load, or I'll have to leave and come back, or reload a restore point, hoping they loaded this time. All of my bases that were using polished wood textures now have weathered textures.

I don't want to have to go to every part and switch them back, especially when I don't know if they're just going to break it again. I left them all alone hoping they would patch this, but it has been 2 weeks now. Still nothing. Controls and settings are being reset to default for no reason.

It may have to do with cross-save, but when I get on my PC to play in VR, the controls and settings are all reset. I have to go back through and change everything back. Then, when I go back to my Xbox, they are reset again. I know all my settings by heart now and can do it quickly, but I definitely shouldn't have to. Freighters/Capital Ships being "upside down."

When you summon a freighter to a planet while you're on the surfact, it appears correctly. However, I've found that if I come back to the game after leaving it in that position, it will be entirely upside down relative to the planet after I fly out of it. It's not as big of a deal, but still really annoying, and an issue that wasn't there before. Freighters you rescue from pirate attacks don't open.

I've seen this only a few times now, but I save a freighter from a pirate attack, and will be...

I hope you are all having a wonderful time exploring the Galaxy, Discovering, creating, and sitting back while others give you free stuff… yes I’m talking about you AFK players in the Anomaly… sit there all day while rich players / creative / duplicating players spam you with free stuff.. no more Recently a player from PSN posted about how he found a planet with creatures having a dozen “space chesties” on it which secreted milk… I have access to this planet and I will create a farm to harvest This milk… and I will spam player inventories with milk non stop so this way no rich players can give AFK players anything…. So this I vow.. all travelers will have milk 🥛 .

Switch 2 Version absolutely rekindled my love for this game [Screenshot]

Kinda stopped playing end of last year but still a huge fan of the game. I got the Switch 2 with no expectations to play NMS there, but I LOVE it!!! Absolutely amazing that I can chill wherever and play NMS. Was playing before on Xbox, but I enjoy it way more in handheld and docked has better graphics than Xbox, I feel. I know it’s kinda niche to play on Switch, but it works well for me.

Problem with quest "Alone Amidst the Stars" [Bug]

Hi, I'm at the question "Alone Amidst the Stars" and I can't seem to continue and was hoping someone here might help. I've just calibrated the translator to 100% and this is what my next step is:

"Translator calibration: 100%. Find a lifeform to ask about your location".

I'm at the specified location but can't seem to find any lifeforms, just a Galactic Trade Terminal. Is this a bug or am I missing a step? Thanks in advance!

Settlement difficulties [Discussion]

Is anyone else finding it particularly harder to “level up” settlements after the update dropped? I got an autophage settlement after the update dropped, and I’ve been working nonstop trying to get it out of debt, but it’s almost impossible when there’s never any requests. There used to be so many requests (before the update, my original settlement) and I was able to bring my OG settlement out of debt in a timely manner. Now it’s so much harder. It feels like there’s no progress. I’m upgrading as many buildings as I can, but it’s not doing a whole lot. I wish I’d get more new construction opportunities to increase happiness and productivity, instead of just constantly upgrading buildings…

Hey ho. Im complete new to the game. Playing since a week and cant get enough. Didnt do much main story so im just travel around and see whats happening. Any tipps for a new one? What should i do before i do xy stuff? Or isnt it important? I love the free roam but sometimes i got lost 😅 Yesterday i was just flying around and looking for crashed ships to claim and sell. I dont do much selling stuff or farming stuff. Im on 20 mill now but i think thats not very much right? 🙈 I did some Artemis quests and one with a lost solar ship because i thought i maybe get one afterwards. What’s your favorite race in the game? [Discussion]

I’m just curious what others think of each main race. My favorite used to be the Gek, but then it became the autophages once I found them. The autophages are just so chill, they harm nobody. While the other 3 races each have bad history, the autophages are literally just refugees minding their own business. They’re chill asf. If I couldn’t pick the autophages, I think I’d still go with Gek. NOT the first spawn Gek, I mean the current Gek. Their ancestors were awful evil creatures. Once they changed, they seemed to become much better as a species. They’re much more tolerant and friendly. They make an effort to call everybody a friend to make them feel more comfortable, they wrote it in their archives. What do you think?

Is there a build guide for the Freighter? [Discussion]

I'm able to put down random rooms, like teleporter and local storage but how are people crafting big wide open spaces with like 4 cubes of empty space above the ground? I took a look at the Anomaly shop but I don't see like big open cubes that you can install or just "empty" space". also what are the limits of building on a freight and why can I sometimes build and escape the ship and walk all over it? I can jet pack back in thank goodness.

Organic ship wont contact me for the mission [Question]

I have a void egg and i have gone to all these different systems and i have been pulsing around and i have even tried different ships and placing the egg into other inventory’s while pulsing i also did it in a squad and outside the squad and i made sure im in euclid. but the organic ship still hasn’t contacted me. am i doing some thing wrong or is the egg/ game just bugged?

Planning and Building a City [Question]

This might have been done a long time ago, but has anyone tried to organize a group of players to create a realistic city? Like if you could somehow organize 20-50 players to build their bases adjacent to one other based off a central plan.

Nowadays you could have CGPT help with assigning building parameters for each player with the overall city in mind.

Just curious.

One of my little critters - me circled for scale

Curious - this is the largest critter I have so far been able to 'egg-mod' - this one is the grandchild of the original animal I adopted and about 10x its size. This thing is so large the lasers mount on its sides are close to the size of my ship :) Anyone reached a literal limit for size (big...or small?) - I'm never sure how much random numbers play into the gene sequencing thing as opposed to feeding in resources.

Learned Glitch wire and made small stuff ... [Screenshot]

I'm no builder. But my latest galaxy I set myself a goal -learn to glitch wire build to make objects small. Two days of non-stop trying,watching videos,copying one post in reddit, I finally did it. Made a sloppy monster out of small mud huts and Watchful Protrusion tree, a trading post (yes it works), bubbles and a small alternative landing pad (yes it works, see next pic. Phew.

A good setup to reach 351.000 runaway mould per run of 15 seconds. / 70.000 nanites. [Suggestion]

It doesn't matter the exact amount of runaway mould, between 10 and 16 ball will be enough. The important thing is the setup to mine. I never thought to reach this amount.

  • Atlantid multitool whit t shaped supercharged slots and the runic lens and mine modules in them. Additionally, scanner modules, mine have 30,000 mineral rewards.

  • Stellarator recipe: 64% reward from resources mined.

  • Farming with runic lens.
    I remember receive a less amount without this setup. I don't know either it is a buffing or unreported change. In the end, only remains to refine.

How to refind ship [Question]

I found a damaged ship and left it where it was after claiming it. I was planning on going to a space station so I could summon it up there and buy a bunch of the repair materials, I was not aware that I would be unable to summon it if it's too badly damaged and now have no idea how to find it again

Couple of questions [Question]

My biggest gripe atm, is having to manually repair my damaged ships when they come back from expeditions. Is there a way to auto-repair them, or just disable that completely, a mod perhaps?

Also, when i'm using the Minotaur, i have everything unlocked, including the modules to enhance the flame thrower, but i've yet to actually find the flame thrower module itself.

And finally (for now), when i'm mining with any exocraft, do those lasers get the perks from the mods in the exosuit, or do i need to mine directly to get those bonuses?

I've got my four settlements on the go, been upgrading them, got two up to B class so far, but I've only ever been offered one new building in two of them (both of them being the Tower) and none in the others. Do I just need to be patient and wait for building requests in the terminal? Or is there something I need to do to start new buildings?

Destroyed ship moving? [Bug]

Completed the purge. My ship is a sentinel ship so i had to go get some supplies from a dissonant system. But now when i came back my ship is nowhere to be seen, and obviously i cant summon it because the launch thrusters and pulse engine are destroyed.

How do i get my ship back?

Disappointed by the lack of clarity (again) — feels like 2016 all over again [Discussion]

Hey everyone,

I recently got back into No Man’s Sky on Nintendo Switch, and with the BEACON update, I was really looking forward to exploring the settlement system. After finishing most of the main content, I thought discovering and managing a colony would bring something fresh and motivating.

But after spending hours trying to trigger or locate a settlement, I finally realized... they simply don’t exist on the Switch version. And honestly? What frustrates me the most isn’t even the missing feature itself — it’s the lack of communication.

Nowhere on the official update page does it say that settlements are unavailable on Switch (I’m talking about the original Switch here, not Switch 2). The way the update is presented, you'd think all platforms got the same features. That’s misleading — even if it's not malicious.

This whole situation reminds me of how things were back in 2016, when No Man’s Sky first launched: lots of exciting ideas, but a very vague and evasive way of communicating with the players. I had hoped that over the years, Hello Games had evolved on that front — and to be fair, they have in many ways. But this time, it feels like a step backward.

To be clear, I really appreciate all the updates they've released since launch. The team has done an incredible job redeeming a game that had a very rough start, and they've given us a huge amount of content, for free. So no, I don't think this is some massive betrayal or anything like that — I just think it’s a shame to see this kind of oversight in communication.

It makes it feel like Switch players matter a bit less — maybe I’m wrong, maybe the info is out there somewhere — but at least on the official BEACON page, nothing is said. And when you present what’s included, you should also make clear what’s not, especially when...

I'm not that far into the game, but from what I can tell there's isn't any real major use to building a base outside of fro the fun off it. Maybe I just haven't unlocked or discovered things that make them actually useful/beneficial. So outside of for the fun of it, why do people actually build bases?

Theoretical worldgen update suggestions [Suggestion]

Was just wanting to hear the thoughts and opinions on my worldgen suggestions, I feel as though these would add a lot to the "realism" of No Mans Sky without requiring too many resources to implement.

I personally think that worlds with temperatures ranging outside of 0°C-100°C shouldn't have any form of liquid water on the surface, I find it odd when I land on a scorching planet with surface temps of 250°C and yet the water is still perfectly fine. Perhaps they could either do away with water entirely on these worlds or come up with other forms of liquid to use? Such as magma, acid, etc. For frozen worlds I think that the surface of the oceans should be frozen solid, perhaps they could be translucent or covered with snow, with liquid water only being present after digging through tens of meters of ice and if the planet is geologically active (like with those geothermal vents you often spot), I think that would add a lot of character to these worlds.

Also bringing back Plains/Desert worlds, I don't mean sandy planets, I mean actual sand dunes with little actual Earth/Rock visible, perhaps a few oasis here and there with some hardy plant life, I love the current world generation however I think making it so that some worlds could generate with less mountainous terrain would be great for the views and aesthetics.

Also, technically not a worldgen suggestion, but making it so that the probe on our shoulder looks at different Points of Interest, switching between whatever it's looking at depending on how far away you are/ if you've already discovered it, but defaulting to looking at whatevers closest usually. I think it would make a lot more sense for Telemon to do that rather than using the same randomly looking animation we've had for 8 years now.

What are your thoughts?

Need some help with VR [Question]

This is likely more of a general VR issue but I was hoping yall might have some idea what to do. So No Man's Sky runs pefectly well on my system normally (4060, I7-14650H, 8 GB RAM). I don't believe performance is my issue since the game appears just fine on my computers screen but is completely destoyed in the headset. Same wired or wireless. Other PCVR games don't have this issue for some reason.

Any help would be great!

Been playing for a while I have done every quest and learned through every play though, what I like now is the expeditions as I like the new unknown and new quest line that I haven’t done tonnes before and we haven’t had one for a very long time. Does any traveller have any idea when the next one is likely to be based on your longer experience?

Found this in Hitonskyer galaxy (Number 17) [Screenshot]

Planet the cabinet is on is in the last photo. Location on the planet is the second photo. This tool is in the space station/system pool. If you portal to the planet (glyphs in the first photo), you shouldn't have to reload. Just fly to the minor settlement and grab the tool. If for some reason it's a different tool, just fly to the space station, land, exit your ship, then reload the restore point you just created. Fly back to the minor settlement and it will be there.

For those concerned with the supercharged slots, the other 2 are in the fourth row, separated by a slot just like the ones you can see. They're offset one slot to the left of the ones you can see.

Every time I come back to the game, this makes me a bit sad.. [Discussion]

First, allow me to say a few things. I do not think that any of the new updates have been bad since I last played, nor have I ever thought that. I think we are super fortunate that every DLC released has been free and stocked with content which is mostly good. And I also do realize that not everyone would want a galaxy wipe, but here is my gripe:

Every time I come back to the game and they decide to change or add planets and new biomes, my main planet where I have my bases and farms always seem to change biome as well. My planet - which started out as a beautiful planet with green grass, blue water, clear skies and bubble effects rising from the ground - has now been straight up turned into a pink, blue and green Dagobah. First it got turned into a lesser green planet with ugly trees, but still kept some of it's beauty, but now it's just straight up ugly to look at (for me at least).

It saddens me so much because I really grew to love that location, and if this is going to happen every time they introduce new planets and biomes, I think they should either wipe the galaxies every time they do, or wait with adding new planets and biomes until they feel like they don't have any more to add and then wipe. However I don't think the latter suggestion would be good because content would get pretty stale in the end I suppose.

Idk. In the end I can just find a new planet, but I've also started to notice that every new system I travel to has been visited by someone else. Travelling to the center and changing galaxies is also an option to solve that, but am I supposed to leave all my bases and stuff behind? I'm guessing using portals to travel back isn't possible once you go through the center.

Flickering Issue Possibly Resolved [Bug]

Nvidia just released updated drivers which may have fixed the flickering issue when close to the ground in a ship. So far, no issue with Reflections at Ultra. The only workaround before the update was to turn down Reflections to Standard.

How do I get more fleet pilots? And can I move a pilot from my squadron to my fleet? I'm new to NMS, I found a pilot & ship I really liked in the space station so I recruited them, but they got recruited to my squadron. Is there any way for me to move them to my fleet? I do not know what the difference of the squadron and fleet is. Thank you.

I just started and a question [Question]

I destroyed my refiner by accident. Is the starting planet random? I'm on a fire planet. I'm thinking of starting over in hopes of a better starter instead of building another one. Also when I did the first take off and landing it put me in a worse place for stuff than before. Or should I just continue going? I'm only like 2-3 hours in.

I popped my cherry! [Question]

New to the game but not to gaming.

I've been watching NMS for a couple of years. Sadly I jumped on to the Starfield wagon for a while because I'm a Bethesda fan boy, but was totally disappointed in it.

So now a new challenge and a new universe to get lost in.

I'm genuinely excited to get stuck in and would love some quick tips and advice to get going as fast as possible as I don't have much time to game right now (work and kids).

I recently warped for the fifth time and rescued a freighter. I read that the second freighter you get is better than the first so I chose to request payment instead and warped five more times. "A Trace of Metal" super bugged on Switch 2 [Bug]

Got the quest and it tells me to go help the ppl in my settlement (autophage settlement) but my actual settlement is literally on another system than the one the quest marks. I literally can't do anything at this point and can't progress.

I had a regular settlement and for some reason I got the autophage one and had 2 active settlements simultaneously but that's impossible afaik 😅 then deleted my previous settlement and went on with the new one, but now the quest is all over the place

Real talk here, but am i the only one who think that hazardous plants are just a wee bit too spammed? [Discussion]

They are literally everywhere. It doesn't matter the type of planet, age, hazard weather, biome. They are even on dead no atmosphere planets… Which i find very immersion breaking. I think they are a bit too much.

They should vary from planet to planet. Paradise planets, for example, should have very little of them. Dead planet should have none. More extreme weather planets should have more, and so on, you get the idea. I find them immersion breaking and waaaay to overused. Anyone else?

Free freighters on mission [Question]

Is it possible that I lost mi chance to get the freighter for free, the first one? Because I’m playing on switch 2 with a saving game and on pc with another save game.

On switch I follow all the missions about arthemis that bring me to get the first freighter. On pc (longer save game) I remember that I met the captain of the freighter without giving a shit to help him. Found a new (to me) way to take pot shots at wave after wave of Sentinels at a pillar. [Fan Work]

I was taking out the pillar (nodes?) during nexus mission too slowly I guess. My Minotaur got taken out and quads showed up and out of desperation I jetted up to the top of the pillar. After a bit I was basically shooting walkers in a barrel from up there. Some drones came up to visit for a few seconds before they met my NEUTRON CANNON. Whats your tactic with the pillars (aside from taking those node things out quickly!)?

In No Man's Sky, if you're lucky, you can find two planets colliding. But what if they incorporated animation or parts of the destroyed planets to make it seem like they're colliding? Over time these planets would come together creating another new one.

Other idea [Fan Work]

Imagine being on the galactic map in No Man's Sky and finding a twinkling star with a new lake next to it. Zoom in and you'll see a pulsar. Sure, being a pulsar, it wouldn't have planets orbiting it, but it would spin extremely fast, shooting out jets of energy that would damage your ship. Finally, if you look at it, space-time would be distorted, like the black holes in the same game.

Am I the only one who thinks that being able to upgrade ONE building at a time on ALL bases, with around 2 hours of real time waiting between them, is a little bit excessive?

I thought that I at least would be able to upgrade several settlements at once, but no... only one at a time.

I want to retire as overseer of my old settlement, but I've worked on it for years and would feel better if a friend took over. If I retire, could my friend just become the new Overseer, or the options gets locked away forever?

Dúvida na administração do povoado [Question]

Não sei se é um bug ou se eu que to perdido. Meu povoado tem duas construções que precisam de materiais para concluir. Inclusive o ícone do terminal aparece vermelho coma exclamação.
Mas quando acesso o terminal para vejo a mensagem
"CONSTRUÇÃO INDISPONÍVEL
Mais um local de construção requer atenção"

Passei por todas as construções do povoado e todas com a mesma mensagem.
To achando que o fato de ter duas construções ao mesmo tempo bugou o povoado.
Alguém mais já passou por isso?
Alguma dica de como resolver?

Been a while since I searched for a portal [Question]

So it's been a while since I searched for a portal. I just started a new save and I thought I'd find some stuff right off and mark em for future ref. I have been thru 15 alien artifct charts. It sends me ethier to an ancient ruin or a Plaque/monolith but they don't ask any questions or allow me to ask them a second time. all I get is ask for language help or knowledge of the past, the latter just sends me to an ancient temple. Is there a level I need to hit or a prelim quest I need to do before I can find a portal?

I used a signal booster to locate a point of interest on my planet and then saved and quit the game, now I’ve come back I can find the icon anywhere and I can’t run the booster again, it tells me “Nearby Building Already Marked”. How to I find the marked building?

Grinding is a pain but it is worthwhile. [Discussion]

For example. You find a bunch of Runaway Mould, slap down a save beacon, harvest them. Reload and harvest again until you reach the max amount of RM in your inventory. Now the grind starts, converting that into nanites. Hell, it takes ages, about 1 - 2 hours, even if you use a couple of refiners. It worth it but it takes a long time. (And then you blow it all on upgrades in a couple minutes)

Fan Concept: “WARFRONT” Update – Faction Wars, Planetary Conquest, PvP War Zones [Question]

Id be cool to see a warfare-themed update. something that blends story, faction loyalty, and optional PvP for players who want more conflict and strategy.

Core ideas

Faction Wars – Choose Gek, Vy’keen, or Korvax and rank up by completing missions and taking systems.

Planetary Conquest – Battle sentinels or enemy factions on the ground, capture outposts, or defend war bases.

Fleet Battles – Join NPC and player-controlled armadas in epic space fights.

Optional PvP War Zones – Designated systems for real-time player vs. player combat, with territory bonuses.

Build War Bases – Create faction-themed outposts with defenses, shields, and artillery.

It would give a good ol new layer of purpose and some fps, especially for veterans looking for deeper gud gameplay. Even if it’s completely optional, the idea of helping your chosen faction take control of regions of the galaxy sounds pretty noice.

What do yall think? I would fight in a warfront update, them space battles and space lasers.

Turing no man sky into more warfare [Discussion]

Bit of an stupid dream of mine but I’d love it to happen the map is so big you’d claim a couple of systems and then build ai forces with freighters and frigates build forts and maybe sentinels or other factions come and attack you. you can have ground battles space warfare with big guns and loads of fighters.use the walker types in game and the Minotaur’s settlements can become Skyrim “city” sized like Star Wars and halo

New settlement customization [Question]

Me and my boyfriend have been playing the new update but we can't figure out how to change how our settlement buildings look. I've been getting nothing useful online when I look it up. Did I misunderstand the dev log or something? Im sure it implied you could recolor the buildings.

I think I figured out exactly what's emptying refineries [Bug]

This is repeatable, here's the steps:

#1: Put something in a refinery

#2: Save the game (enter/exit ship, use save beacon, whatever)

#3: Exit to main menu ("Quit to Mode Select")

#4: Load the save ("Play" > "Load Save")

Voila. ALL refineries/AMUs/Nutrient Processors are now empty.

To prove the point...

You can actually immediately quit to desktop, and then reload the same save, and your refineries will NOT be empty. EDIT: Actually, you can simply reload the restore point without exiting the game first.

Previously, I thought this process involved loading a manually backed up save at the main menu screen. That actually has nothing to do with it. Simply doing the above will trigger the bug... every time.

I already submitted this as a bug report to NMS's Zendesk.

It's certainly possible there's other stuff that triggers the bug, BUT it's been a couple weeks and I haven't found any other ways to trigger the bug.

So, something goes terribly wrong when, after having already loaded a save, you then go back to the main to load a save again. It may be causing other save-related bugs as well.

Space stations ++ [Suggestion]

I've just had this thought: I often think about how we have these huge, colossal space stations now, all covered in lights, but all we ever see is the same concourse area. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a teleporter to 'habitation' levels, where anyone can claim an apartment to decorate as they please and hang out with other travellers – a sort of communal hub in every system. Apartments could be off ring-shaped corridors and everyone gets a couple of rooms and a window to look out of, and loads more internal decorations please HG.

It could maybe work like the Anomaly, where people and their apartments would appear in the habitation levels regardless of the system they've docked at. It'd maybe have to be limited to a set number of players per instance, otherwise you'd have hundreds running around at once, and perhaps you could have a friends list, whose apartments you'd always see? But each habitation level could be basically a server you teleport to.

I just think that'd be such a simple and interesting expansion for these big, hulking things that we see everywhere.

A little help please... [Question]

Anyone feel like giving me a lift to Odyalutai?

I play 4 saves and somehow messed up on my primary save and deleted a multitool I wanted to keep. That save has bases in almost every galaxy (skipped a few harsh ones) and I got to Odyalutai jumping through the center of galaxies to 255 almost 3 years ago, then a friend took the time to get me to Odyalutai. However, it is the only save iteration I have that is in Odyalutai and since I've already gotten the multitool in that save, the station won't spawn it again.

I really don't feel like joining Discord as when I went there, there really wasn't much help in what was expected with a lot of confusing posts about waiting and asking for input with no explanation of what is expected. Besides, I hate spawning social media joins for a single task, so thought I would try a different way.

If you go to the Anomaly while in Odyalutai in a system that has your base in it, I should be able to find it at the Teleporter. Give me a date and time and I will head to the Anomaly and look for your base. Many thanks in advance. If it matters, Custom settings but can make Normal if needed.

Alternately, PM me and I can give you my friend code and we can try multiplayer. I've only done that once, years ago, so that might be more rocky. lol

Quick Question [Question]

Hey everyone, I'm new to the game and found Atlas. I've been going from Atlas to Atlas making the stuff needed to go the the next. I REALLY want to get one of the new race mechanical bodies. Is this the way to do that? I don't want to mess up and take that option away from myself. This thing seems menacing and no bueno. Recently installed NMS again, after nog playing for 3 years. I started a new game because it was all a bit too overwhelming.

When I was able to warp to a new universe, the first universe I go to I find 2 Paradise planets :o

In my previous savegame, which has about 250hours of gameplay, I remember not finding any of them??

Made it to the galactic center on permadeath [Question]

Did I miss something? I got the trophy but it turns out the prize in the center of the galaxy is them breaking my favorite ship, my defenses, and every multi tool component and dropping me on an extreme toxicity planet with no defenses or way to collect resources? I lived but I was not expecting my prize to be a mad dash looking for a cave structure

Settlement from questline is an absolute trash pile [Screenshot]

I'm just about 15 hours into this game and just got started with the settlement via the quest it gave me on my starter planet - I had no idea what I signed up for but this is the default it came up with after I adopted overseer status. Why is the maintenance cost so damn high for nothing but sleep shelters and houses? It produces TWENTY FIVE TIMES more debt than productivity. MANY SPIDERS?

In what world is this piece of garbage ever going to be profitable??? Do I just bail and try and find another?

Creature Rework Concepts (Triceratops) [Fan Work]

Sort of a follow-up to my post from a couple months back.

I'm a huge dinosaur nerd. So, imagine my disappointment when the "dinosaurs" in-game look like weird Jurassic Park ripoffs. Yes, I know "paleo accuracy" is overdone in fantasy/sci-fi settings, but come on: the real animals looked so much cooler!

It's my opinion that the creatures of No Man's Sky need a rework overall; in models, textures, animations and behavior. This is just me positing a concept for one genus in particular while also trying to expand upon and streamline how their shapes are generated. I'd love to do more, if you guys enjoy these little sketch concepts. Theropods next, maybe? Or felines?

Best place for a settlement? [Question]

Hi guys,

I’ve recently come back to NMS and feel like I’ve forgotten everything, I’ve done the main story and want just to want to base build and farm.

What’s the best place to start a settlement? I have one already setup but it’s a hostile planet with high sentinel activity which just piss on my parade every minute!

Any other suggestions or new things worth knowing would be appreciated! See you out there!

Limit of 16,000 base objects per SAVE increased, when will that be changed?? [Question]

I'd like to play again.

But I can't even build a gate because I've reached the limit.

This is an absolute design disaster! Total Game End!

An endless game? No! And I don't want to delete anything,

because I like my stations!

I understand the need to limit uploads; server space is finite.

But a local limit? That's completely unacceptable!

Please make the following changes:

Limit the number of uploadable stations to x, like now.

Save stations locally per solar system (unlimited + no build limits).

Local stations can be loaded upon entering a solar system.

A challenge for the future:

Players in groups can synchronize local stations and build a city together.

(Perhaps use a P2P protocol to reduce server load)

suddenly not optimised? [Question]

Ok, so up until the Beacon update, NMS has more or less run as smooth as butter, averaging 50-70 FPS even on dense vegetation worlds, but now it chugs at maybe 10-20 FPS.

Now I admit that I am running fairly old hardware here with Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a GTX1660S, but this has been just fine even on max settings as I only play at 1080P.

I did see that there was a driver update for the GPU so figure this might fix things, but nope, still chugging even on the latest drivers (576.80 at time of writing) and im having to turn down settings to even get something approximately playable

So now I'm thinking that something about the code in the beacon update has tanked my performance and I'm wondering whether anyone else has noticed a degradation of performance since Beacon.

Settlements should store surplus productivity [Suggestion]

Right now, once we get a settlement out of debt any productivity over maintenance costs are basically useless.

My main settlement produces over a million more credits than maintenance costs, but if any event comes up that requires spending credits it just puts the settlement back into debt.

Why is this a problem? Because item production resets every time a settlement goes into debt.

With the update they added some actually useful settlement products, like the frigate fuel, but unless we just ignore the settlement events there is no way the production ever finishes.

The surplus productivity should be stored and used to pay for events that require credits

Are exocrafts useful? And manageable for people prone to motion sickness? (bad E:D SRV memories...) [Question]

So I've played this game a couple weeks now, but I've intentionally avoided anything involving exocrafts until now. Reason being I still have a bit of PTSD from using the SRV in Elite: Dangerous, where the lurching motion every time you hit the gas. and its tendency to bounce around and get yeeted off half-way into space if you hit the smallest pebble caused me severe motion sickness.

What sort of tasks/quests does the game give you to do? [Question]

Love seeing all the fun everyone has with the game, but I've never got into it. Got some spare time now though and would love to give it a go.

I just wondered though what sort of content gives you stuff to do? I'm not honestly a big fan of "make your own fun" games. I couldn't stand Minecraft for the same reason.

Is there enough content in the main story, side quests, maybe race quests/mission etc to do?

Most are afraid of the grandiouse insidious power the geology cannon possesses, many fumble with one shot only to teleport their consciousness to a new state of existence that even the autophage fear, the quote screen. Me? That's my bread and butter baby, sentineIs seethe if you utilize this secret. This bad boy rains down "missle strikes" like no other. Let me show you 🫨🫵

JACOBS LADDER (THIS IS AN ENDGAME BUILD!)

You will need an Atlantid staff or a sentinal weapon (they carry the max dps chart rates), preferably one with 4 adjacent super charged slots. Placing certain modules next to each other, adjacent, in different positions can yield different results. Experiment!!!

Shields! Shields! Shields! One hit normally without any upgrades can rinse your shields if you're not moderately armored. This build specifically two-shots even through max shields. Although it is possible to tank about four hits within the vicinity, but those shields would have to be supercharged within that instance. Better get them maxed out (preferably 33% and above minimum recommended) or else it's gonna feel worse than getting stuck with a plasma grenade in halo. You know how that goes ragdolls away.

Autophage exosuit upgrades!! This is one of the high bars that call for this build, as it provides a secondary layer for your sheild support, but also boosts your health bars. Giving you a better and optimal experience not having to worry about the anxiety of blowing yourself up. Obviously you would want a four stacker buff, where health, shield, life support and another roll are included. 30% minimum recommended upon health and shields.

You will need to max out all your jet packs! (Not just "S class", but instead illegal pirate goods!). With those at your disposal, you're able to roll random upgrades that can exceed even S class parameters! Obviously rolling...

This is getting ridiculous ! [Bug]

So, I was trying to destroy a Sentinel Capital Ship but just as I get close to breaching the shields it disappears. Every bloody time… Arghhh!!! And I just fly right through it like it isn’t there.

I had a similar altercation with a pirate frigate, but at least that one remained “corporeal” long enough for me to destroy it. This one just disappeared every time.

Please tell me I’m not the only one? There seems to be a lot of bugs after the latest update, and Misery loves company.

New Player Normal vs Multiplayer [Question]

Just started playing NMS. At the start I had to choose between Normal and Multiplayer.

Kinda confused at the moment and probably should not be. I went ahead with Normal mode. Does this mean I will not come across other players or bases in the game? I was looking forward to eventually be able to maybe play with a friend who had the game.

Am I able to switch to Multiplayer at any point with my current save? Or do I have to start another game that way to play with others?

Is this settlement abnormally horrible? [Question]

I have so many questions. I am sure I could probably find answers by scouring reddit but this community usually comes through with stuff pretty quick. I grabbed this settlement as part of that initial settler quest line. But the debt being accrued seems crazy and I feel like the improvements I am making are only slowly bringing up productivity. Here are my questions? Are all settlements like this? Do they all start as C? Do they class up over time as you add and upgrade things? Do Settlement Features change as you build things or are those static? When does debt get settled? Is it only by getting Productivity higher than Maintenance Cost? Is this just a horrible settlement and if I want to mess with them I should just abandon this one and look for one with better features?

I don't mind sinking resources into something that could benefit me in the long run. I just don't want to waste my time if there is a better path. THANKS!

Freighter base parts won’t load / disappears [Bug]

I spend hours getting an S class pirate dreadnaught, and even more building a perfect base. My reward? A game breaking glitch. Every time I fly into the freighter. My base just isn’t there. I can see people walking around on invisible floors, but I just see empty space. If I try to place something, small parts of the base will appear. But still look glitched. If I reload 3-7 times I might be lucky and everything spawns in as it should. I’m so genuinely tired of the glitches always breaking some aspect of the game I don’t think I can keep doing it. I tried every possible solution across Reddit or obscure forums. Nothing. Broken. I might actually have to stop playing just to save my own sanity. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game. But I spend 40% of the time looking at a load screen or fixing issues. Am I the only one ? Im on switch 2 if it’s relevant

Why is the sun(s) gone in my game? [Bug]

Ever since I went to the north pole of some random planet, the sun(s) never show up in the skybox in space or on an airless planet, but it does show up on an atmospheric planet. How would I fix this? I sent a ticket to Hello Games but it hasn't been fixed yet.

Let’s have a contest for who can make the best meme about animals walking into your base while you’re building it… I always build my bases a little off the ground so that I can put the solar panels underneath the floor… And then I put a wall around the basement where the solar panels are and inevitably there’s always some freaking animal walks in while I’m doing it and I know it’s stupid but I don’t feel like I can bury them alive so I have to wait for him to leave.

I finally got my new PC (RTX 5080), and the first thing I want to do is jump back into No Man's Sky after so many years without touching the game. I'm going to start from scratch rather than using my old save, since I've forgotten 90% of what I was doing.

Can I move a whole base? [Question]

When I first started out in this game I put my first base on a very small island in the middle of the sea. Now that I’ve got all of the specialists, other machines, exocrafts, base parts, storage containers, and launch pads, it is a bit cramped and hard to move around. Is there anyway that I can just move the entire base to a new area? Or will I have to empty all of the containers and take down the structures? If I just elect to remove the base on the base computer, can I just require the specialists for each terminal again?

PVP? [Question]

I’ve been played for about a month now. I like the game for the hunt and the grind but last night when I was but chugging away at a Nexus quest someone showed up and started shooting me. At first I was wondering “What is this person doing?” But when I got the lovely message that I died I was like “WTF?”

So my question is as follows: Is there PvP in this game even on relax? If I wanted PvP I would have stayed playing Destiny 2.

Why does the portable refiner glitch work? [Question]

I've been wondering this for a while. I think I can see a couple reasons that might make sense, but I don't know. My first idea is that the cones on the sides of portable refiners are meant to allow you to chain them, like to create some kind of automation, but I haven't tested it and haven't seen anyone else doing that, so I'm doubtful. My second idea was that the inventory data for them isn't based on a system like Minecraft's NBT data, but instead it's based on positioning data on the planet

Also I've had a bug where I was surveying a planet as a nexus mission and I got to the point of "locate 3 hot-spots" and then it just flicked if I scanned a second hot-spot the numbers would just flicker at a epileptic inducing rate(something like "1200062638" then to "1/3") I was unable to complete the Misson so I had to abandon it.

Base shenanigans [Question]

I have a base in the sky. I decided yesterday to rebuild it higher. I built a bunch of solid cubes straight up and got to where I wanted to start the rebuild and saved. Today I went back and at that base now I can only build mobile stuff. it's like I'm not at a base anymore. Even in the existing base it acts like I'm just not at a base. I deleted all the new stuff and still it only lets me build mobile stuff and the decos with the flag icon.

If I delete something, it won't even let me put it back. I guess I just borked the base moving the base computer around. Anyone else come across this issue?

how much can you do coop? [Question]

so i want to play this game with my friend, we both never played it. i know its large so i watched some videos to know what this game is even about or what you can do. apparently there are main missions and a story in a way, and there are always objectives to follow and explore. if my friend and i are in the same group and play coop, will we share missions too? mission progress? will we have the same quest equipped if the host chooses it? do we fly in one ship or do we have our own? are resources shared? is there anything else thats important to know when playing with a friend?

outside of coop any other tips to not get overwhelmed and have fun? also what exactly are the possibilities. i love space so im really curious how gravity functions in no mans sky, how diverse planets are, if modern physics is followed and where its not for cooler gameplay. i wonder if i can fly into a black hole. whatever even being in orbit would be so cool. i wonder how accurate distances are, like flying from planet to planet, or how it feels to get too close to the sun will i get sucked in? stuff like that im really really curious.

Staff Colour reroll [Question]

When making a staff at the autophage terminals, is there any method to reroll the colour of the staff? I want a staff to match my general colour scheme of all my other stuff but everytime I get some annoying Salmon/Yellow combination or a light and dark blue combo. It just annoys me that you can't select the colours yourself..

electrical not working [Bug]

I've connected an electromagnetic generator with mineral extrators via wiring, but that didn't work, the wire remains blue UNTIL it goes into the extrator, I even set up batteries, replaced the extrators. Won't even power the base I built. I used 2 base computers. Not sure how to fix this?

Objects (plants, animals, stones) need to be made more related to their description [Discussion]

After the release of the World Patch 2 update, which showed more than ever that the developers really want to improve the diversity and depth of the game, the next logical step seems to be the reworking of the procedural generation system of objects. After all, all this is going into their next game

At the moment, we do not have any really logical binding of the description of decals of entities and their descriptions both to the conditions of the planet and to them themselves. Because of this, we can find very similar animals both on very hot planets and cold ones. Also, the description of animals does not give anything and is essentially just text.

It would be cool if the developers gave various animal parts properties and a binding to various weather conditions. That is, thick rocky skin giving high protection from toxins and our laser. In principle, it would also be nice to improve the generation of the parts themselves, so that on the basis of one asset, many different in shape, bend, etc. were made.

Living creatures in principle need to be reworked. Now they are still as bad as on release and the developers should definitely overhaul them. Improve the AI, add pollations and a link to the territory, life cycles (spend the night in a nest, hunt during the day), a simple hunger system. They should be as important as random buildings on the surface, that is, not just randomly spawn, but have their own habitat for a conditional flock, which is considered a predetermined object of the planet and in the case of killing one of the individuals, we could then find its bones. Yes, in general, bones are long overdue to be introduced into the game as part of the landscape, after all, a lot of variations were added in update 5.6

The next step is to describe objects and the ability to collect them and plant / breed them at...

Should I start all over? Is my game bugged? [Question]

I started my one and only playthru back in maybe 2018. I’ve played on and off ever since. Until recently, that is. I’ve been binging.

But I’m seeing stuff on this subreddit that I can’t seem to find in my playthru even though I’ve completed the main story missions. Things like the new drive to get to purple star systems, a staff multitool. Even the organic ship side quest.

The other week I spent a total of 5 nights trying to get the quest that introduces the player to the purple drive unlock to trigger. I jumped to over two dozen atlas stations and presented wonders and it just kept repeating “a new star is born” or something like that.

I only just found out we can have organic ships and the unlock is in the quicksilver merchant.

Even been having issues with settlement constructions getting locked up cuz their construction terminals are missing.

So, I’m wondering, should I just start a new game save? How likely is it that my progression into NMS is so far that it’s breaking new content that’s designed to be unlocked earlier in the game?

How to farm Questionably Sweet Cake [Information]

Easier ingredients 1. Cactus Flesh refines to Cactus nectar and then to processed sugar. 2. Frost crystal refines to glass grain and then to refined flour 3. Wild or fresh milk refines to cream and then to butter 4. Butter and sugar gives you sweetened butter

Harder ingredients Sticky honey and creature eggs are harder to find initially. I found them by chance while doing Nexus missions, but you can get planet coordinates on the coordinate exchange sub.

I found Sticky Honey from a small hopping creature that looks like a worm chopped in half. I found tall eggs from creatures that had giant legs.

Final Assembly Sweetened butter plus refined flour plus creature egg will give you cake batter.

Cake batter plus sticky honey gives you questionably sweet cake.

One questionably sweet cake in the nutrient processor will give you 10 minutes of 64% mined resources. I maxed out a MT for mining by putting only mining upgrades in the SC slots.

I used it to collect 320k mold from 10 mold balls base that I kept warping in n out. That refines to 64,000 nanites. A little bit of prep work but definitely worth it.

i started it again after a couple of years and im really amazed and got a lot of fun with it. only thing im trying to avoid all the time is building a real base. like fairly big, cool looking, landing pad some farms and so on but i just hate the process, functionality and aesthetically wise, it either just looks bad or im trying to make it good looking and than i got a lot if space or platforms i dont know what to do with. idk its just frustrating and hard

Am I the only One Who noticed that when riding an Animal that you don't own, they cannot run anymore? Everytime I try, their stamina bar Is immediately empty and starts recharging. Doesn't seem to affect your pets anyway...

Completely stuck on "Triangulate position for Artemis by building signal boosters" mission [Question]

This is a pretty early mission in the game, and I can't for the life of me figure it out. I got a prompt to build a signal boosters, built and placed it, but the progress stayed at 0%. So I went to a different planet, built and placed another one. Still 0%.

I don't remember which system the observatory was even in. When I select the mission in the log, it doesn't give me a marker as far as where to go. It just says, "build signal boosters on multiple planets" etc. But I've built several, and no progress is being indicated. Is there somewhere specific I'm supposed to build them? I even tried several systems. And I've tried reloading the save, and exiting the game completely. Does anyone have any tips? Am I doing something wrong?

The Settlers quest stuck on “Construct your first new building” in log [Bug]

FOR CONTEXT: I recently completed the Artemis storyline and moved into Calypso. The Settlers quest started. I went back to Euclid for my base and restarted the quest in it. This may or may not contribute to what happened.

I did the quest without any problems at first. After I made the Overseer Office, I was prompted to construct a new building. I made a starship launch pad. I finished making it, but it isn’t marked as complete. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or if this is a bug. Any help is appreciated.

In Stellar Multitudes Quest not triggering no matter what I do [Question]

I've finished both the Atlas and Artemis quests (long ago) and now finished They Who Returned. Interacted with a purple thing in space for a bit then went and talked to the Atlas, then to Nada to complete that questline.

But now nothing happens. I've been pulse driving all over the place, did a bunch of quests to increase standing with the Autophage, restarted my game, but absolutely no luck. I just want to get to the darn purple systems but the game just doesn't want me to apparently.

This is my main save with hundreds of hours on it so im not about to start over or anything. Does anyone have a solution? I saw other people having the same issue and some said a patch was coming but if it did, it isn't working for me.

Is there some hidden condition I haven't hit?

Switch 2: Only Mercenary Guilds? [Question]

I’m about 40 hours deep and have been feathering the main story line (I’ve got about 1k hours on another save and know the story). But, I want to complete the guilds for ship storage and frigate modules. No matter how far I travel (I’ve warped over 100 times) there is nothing but Mercenary guilds. Is this due to me not triggering a story line event or is there something else going on here?

There is a bug with the quicksilver synthesis shop in the anomaly (you can get all for free) [Bug]

If you go disable multiplayer on the network settings and go to the anomaly, get off the spaceship and then buy something on the quicksilver shop (you need to have the amount for the purchase at least for obvious reasons) but then you go to settings and reload the last save from establishment point you will recover the cash but if you head to the quicksilver shop again you will see that the things that you purchased are available for no cost. You can then buy more things and reload again from the same establishment point to basically get everything on the shop and then on the last reload you will recover the credits and all the shop will be at no cost

Perhaps a lot of people know about this as im new at the game but I just discovered it by accident because I was trying to fix a quest that is bugged and the process to fix the mission was reloading the savegame from the anomaly...

I played a LOT of no man’s sky a few years back but not so much anymore due to this same issue I come across.

No man’s sky’s impressive sequence of updates means I boot up the game every so often but generally finding myself at a loss of what to do and where to find the newer content.

I never thought I’d write this.

After 1200+ hours with No Man’s Sky—across platforms, in VR, on the bridge of my own S-tier dreadnought—I’m profoundly disappointed.

Let’s start with the breaking point: polished stones.

Maybe someone’s found them and upgraded their settlement. Me? I spent hours system-jumping, scouring forums, and chasing ghosts through the stars. And for what?

You’re wasting my time.

This isn’t discovery. This isn’t exploration. It’s a grind loop with no payoff. No expedition. No new discoveries. No new gear. No spark. I launch the game now and feel the weight of time lost—with nothing waiting at the end.

It feels like a breakup.

And like any breakup, I’m left asking:

Why now? What did "I" do wrong? Was it me? Was it you? What have I been doing these past ten years?

I bought this game multiple times. Transferred my save from PC to PS5. Bought a PSVR2 to walk the bridge of my freighter in full immersion. I believed in you.

Infinite sentinels [Bug]

Well, it is it. I thought was normal fighting forever with sentinels, like waves + waves + waves as GTA, until I played with my friend. He desabled and I did so didabled the sentinels of a planet (a local placed with a minotaur that looks like a factory ) and nothing. More and more infinite waves of sentinels come. In dissonant planets i can't even hide, they still searching for me. Anyone with the same issue? How do I fix that? Bc I already reinstalled the game and did not work.

Switch 2: Malfunctioning Freighter [Bug]

Hiya, everyone.

When I got my Switch 2, I was super excited to jump in and do multiplayer and settlements, etc... so I log in, and my freighter base was entirely gone.

I figured I'd leave the freighter and go check out the new settlement quest, and when I got to the settlement... there was nobody there.

So, I figured it's been a while since I started fresh. Deleted all of my saves, and started out brand new.

Then, when I got my first freighter on the new save... the base portion was just a door out into space, and I couldn't build anything. Same as on my first save, that I deleted.

So I deleted that save, completely removed the game from my switch and re-installed it, started a new save.

Yesterday, I got my first freighter, and same thing.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, were you able to fix it?

Beacons Update: Settlement buildings degrading from S to C class faster than I can rebuild them 8( [Question]

I reported the issue, but nothing has changed. 1 of my settlements -I upgraded every single building to S class. The opportunities to build new things are very slow in coming, and some of the buildings magically degrade back to C class overnight faster than I can get them back to S class.

I feel like all I am doing in the game right now is running back and forth to settlements, upgrading and waiting out the 1 to 2 hours so I can do it all over again.

Does anyone know if this is expected behavior, because if so I am just going to dump the settlements aspect of the game.

Problem with safes while placing. [Question]

So I am building a new home and I am making a safe room. Problem is when the safe snap together they drop a bit down like I am building on a slight ramp. Is there a placement trick with snapping I do not know about? I put them on a raised floor because the cabling drops below the floor which really made it stand out for me. By the time I got to the other side in a circular placement is almost a short walls height.

Same Log For Every Distress Beacon I Come Across. Game bug??? [Bug]

I always keep getting the same log entry for the distress beacons at crashed ships, related to the Atlas. This started today and I feel like this is a bug. I'm too far in to revert to a previous save. It's getting really annoying and repetitive. Do I gotta make a clean new save to fix this problem or something? Lost game progress [Bug]

I was in a session of No Man’s Sky for around 6 hours using PC Game Pass my game randomly froze, and I could not exit the game. At that moment, I had to go leave and do something. When I got back 30 mins later, the computer was asleep. When I woke it up, there were no apps open. My progress from that session completely disappeared, which sucks because I had made a ton of progress. Is there any way to get my progress back? The autosave didn’t work, and I already tried to repair the Xbox app.

NMS in Switch 2 bug [Bug]

Been loving NMS game so far with the Switch 2 update but this bug just turn me so off. Like each time I warp to my base, half of the base just dissapeared and my ship just spawn directly into the base. Anyone encounter things like this? maybe there is no way to fix it as of now?

Why am I only getting pirate battles? [Question]

I just want a regular freighter battle to try to get an S class but all I ever get spawning is pirate dreadnought battles, which I can't beat and I don't want a pirate dreadnought.

So how do I get back to only having battles for normal freighters?

Portal to Quulngais (62) [Information]

If you're making your way across the galaxies there is a portal on the last planet in Leckandmeram (61), (oi these names) right next door to the center of the galaxy. (See picture for glyphs). It should he;p you to get across Leckandmeram w/o all the tedious jumps.

Don't know how much help this is because these galaxies are out there but there you go.

How do I make my fabricated ship in black? [Question]

I've gotten loads of good help understanding ship fabrication and parts hunting - thanks to all. My last question (I think) - how do I fabricate a ship in black? Black doesn't appear in my list of color options for some reason. Research online tells me I have to find and scrap black ships? Is that right? If I want my newly fabricated ship to be black, do all the parts I use to assemble it have to come from black scrapped ships?

What do I do? Stuck building [Bug]

Looking for advice on how I can resolve a situation. I just started building a warehouse construction project on one of my settlements, however when I go to the building site there is no terminal there in which to deposit the materials. Instead the icon for the terminal shows in the middle of my settlement at the central pillar.

Where the construction site is located it is flat and open, so it is not trying to build inside a hill or anything, and I am unable to deposit materials to start the building process.

I have checked every other building in the settlement to make sure that none of them are under construction/upgrade (they are not). I have warped to another settlement and back again, I have logged off and returned at both the settlement in question and others, all to no avail.

Is there a way to cancel a building in a settlement before you start it? Is my settlement now stuck in this state? I don't want to give up the settlement as I have only just got it turning a profit after it started with zero (0) income producing buildings.

A grave for a memory. [Information]

Dear NMS Community!

Some time ago, like some of my fellow travelers, I made the foolishness of permanently deleting my 1000hr+ main save from 2020. As I consider myself a builder, and had a lot of constructions, you can imagine the hit I took from that. I lost the motivation the continue playing NMS for quite some time, but I came over it after all, and started again on a new save.

Some days before it came to mind I should make some kind of memento of the event, and luckily I found and old screenshot which had the coords for the very first planet I spawned on. So I ventured back there, and started to build a grave, which is now kinda finished. Tought I would share it, so anyone who made the same mistake (and those too, who didn't) come and press F at the heart of it to pay your respects, if you mind!

note: larger figure player models may not fit very well everywhere, so I suggest to change temporarily to something of a smaller stature.

How many times can u use the camp to farm sentinel ships? [Question]

Hey! First post here and I wonder about the question above.

I have set a save beacon on a harmonic camp and I am searching for spikes to get new sentinel ships and then go and sell at the space station. Each ship makes me 20-30M units (I find that a lot!) but I wonder:

. Is there a limited amount of times I can do that? . Will I always find the same model - different classes? . Is there a better way to make money?

Since I make this much money, I have decided not to farm. I just buy all minerals from npc in the space stations. And I find it cool too.

I was at my Autophage settlement when this exotic squid ship landed at one of my landing pads. Almost 1300 hours across 3 saves and it is my first sighting ever of one in the wild. I scooped it up.

JOIN THE STAR WARS GALACTIC PROJECT! [SWGP]

Help us, as we search far and wide in the galaxy of Eissentam for all the planets seen and known in the star wars universe, as we find more and more, we populate and build upon them, making them lively, as we gain more people, it will become more like a functioning civilization set in the star wars galaxy.

Tracking progress [Question]

Returning player here, I want to jump back into the game and explore new content / pick up where I left off.

I always have a hard time keeping track of where I am in the game. In this save I have production bases for all resources, seems like I have multiple S laser weapons, jets, the big ship, ..

But I remember when I last logged in that I missed a ton of content eg. Building out villages I never did.

Is there a way to check my progress or a list of all the in game content? I’m not aiming to “just explore” I’ve done it plenty and a new planet or system isn’t really exciting me anymore

I want to scan the big boi [Question]

Alright so you know the planets I’m talking about right? I’m not talking about the flying worms, I scan them easy. I’m talking about those moons or planets that have the giant dune-esque worms that come from underground and make Godzilla/Cloverfield monster noises. I’ve seen them twice recently and they most definitely have a red dot, indicating they can be scanned.

But they always elude me!! Does my scanner need to be upgraded? Is just a cruel joke the game plays on you? I just want to scan the big boi haha

First settlement I ever found... 2nd building ( after overseer's office) I ever tried construct. Terminal spawned mid air. Can't access it, can't modify the terrain or buil anything... Controller deadzones feel horrible in this game, any fix? [Question]

I literally move my joystick like 40% and it still doesn't register any movement... I have to go over before I can even start moving the camera lol.. Another weird thing is when I do small movements crosshair/camera moves too slow, but when i do larger it moves my camera very fast like there's acceleration, this does not feel linear at all.

I changed many of the settings on steam input and the game still feels rough. I have curve set to 150. set deadzones to 5%, Anti deadzone I changed to (6k, 10k, 15k), and none of this even helped I still have to move sticks a lot for it to register movement. Any solution?

I completed the Artemis path and am ready to get a staff and an Autophage and there is absolutely NOTHING indicating how and where to do any of that. I can’t get to purple systems, I don’t have any more quests left except the never ending ones. I’m trying to just find how to start the staff and autophage quest lines and it’s a big fucking shit pile of ambiguity.

Switch 2 - title crashes after a few minutes of being on home screen [Bug]

I am consistently noticing NMS crashes on Switch 2 given the following actions: * Launching title, then loading into your world * Pressing home button * Leaving console idle for ~5 minutes, or until screen turns gray from inactivity * Tapping back into NMS, at which point software immediately closes due to an error

No other Switch 2 game of mine has this issue - MKW, Hogwarts Legacy, and both Zelda upgrades can remain suspended for indefinite periods of time. Curious if other folks have experienced this?

Euclid, Viridescent planet- Strange Fauna- those little hopping penises plus the strange little yellow flying potato chips- I’ve been working on this for two in game days and it hasn’t rained once… Really beautiful colors during the day but I just took the shot like this because I wanted to see how my projector lit up at night. Expedition Bug [Bug]

Idk if anyone else is dealing with this but my game won't let me start the new Beacon Expedition. It's stuck thinking Relic is gonna start soon when I try to make a new save.

When I start my main save and go to the exhibition terminal at the Anomaly it just gives me the window that the Relic Expedition is over. So idk how I can start the new expedition.

Any help would be good.

Found a cool planet with Aggressive Sentinels? You can place a prefabricated structure in free placement mode so the the sentinel access control panel is inside your base. Teleport there, disable all sentinels, then walk away. [Information]

I posted at one point I found an abandoned giant-new to me-in Ladqudiraf galaxy. Then someone asked how to find gas giants, so I added some advice as well.

Then..due to all this inspiration, I went down the giant rabbit hole in galaxy of Ladgudirafs after unique giants. Ladqudiraf is an empty galaxy. and giants are found in purple stars.

Found out how to reset Space Station Guild Envoys. [Information]

Hello,

relative new Player to the game, but i am enjoying it a lot. Since i have an upcoming stationary visit to the hospital, i did grind a lot the last days together with a friend. We were focused on Cargo Bulkheads and Salvaged Frigate Modules to upgrade our S-Class Freighter that rolled on Slots pretty low (25C 13T). The Dreadnought Battle provided that Civil Ship and good frigates, but never Bulkheads.

Well, i was on a bit early, so finally to organize the space stations, because i wasn't able to recall which envoy were located on which space station, i started to make a list and sort the shit out, while donanting stuff to unlock not yet maxed out guilds. When my friend was online, we kept trying to get the modules. As i was revisiting a space station where i claimed all the items offered early while making the list, i noticed the envoy was reset on the rewards and the donatable items.

After getting another Cargo Bulkhead for free, i started to check other stations aswell and they all did reset. So i started to experiment what could have caused it and found out how. I dont know if that is common knowledge, but i decided to share anyway. You need to have 101 rewards and/or donations between getting the same reward again.

So i started making a rotation with 23 space station claiming only free rewards over and over again.

it isn't optimized with the space station since in that rotation are some stations which loot i do not want. With the current Rotation once, i get:

11x salvaged frigate modules

1x cargo Bulkhead

2x Multitool-Slots..... etc. you get it.

and also a lot of free upgrades modules which i dont need since my S ones are already rolled good, i dont need to check them before selling making around 10k nanites aswell, which is quite good for the time spent. You can probably do it with less space stations if you focus...

At a Sentinel Salvage Site but the ship is invisible/not there? [Bug]

I found a ship I liked through a post on coordinate exchange. Went to the site originally and the ship was there but had to farm some Sentinels to get a brain.

On my return I have the icon but the ship is invisible/ not there. The collision detection is still preventing me walking on the spot.

Is the ship now permanently bugged? I have reloaded several times.

There was another player there when I arrived who constructed a base.

Nobody told me Sentinel ships can hover! [Discussion]

I know this isn't news to most of you, but I had no idea.

Are they the only ships that can do this?

Although I'm not wild about the way it looks, I've been exclusively using my Sentinel ship since I got it, just for this feature. It's incredibly useful.

If there was some upgrade to other ships that added this ability, I'd be all over it.

Trying to figure out online. [Question]

For reference i just moved from switch to switch 2, and I'm really confused about a couple things online. How am I supposed to text chat and gift/receive items. I figured out you can use voice chat but only after the guy I was in a group with informed me that he just heard my entire conversation with someone else in the room with me. Also, any recommendations for civs to join? My main criteria is no naming guidelines, because I'm just gonna forget.

Autophage settlement bug [Bug]

Hi,

On PS5, I got the invite for the autophage settlement. Once I accepted to be overseer, I can't update any building and only option I have is to browse the history of the settlement.

Any idea what could I do?

I already unclaimed and reclaimed the autophage settlement but the problem persist. I have reloaded the game and still nothing can be done in the settlement. If I reclaim the settlement, the original debt is the same.

Rentability with Settlements ( colonies ) [Question]

Hey guys , first of all , English isn’t my primary language, so there may be some issues with my text !

I started to play again 10 days ago ( I had bought the game on ps4 and received it day1 , it’s a whole different game now ! ). And my first settlement reached the point when there is no more debts, so I started producing some goods.

My question now is, how to make decision that add some debts without stopping my production ? I can’t build no more buildings ? I can’t let my citizen celebrate something ?

How are you handling them after they become profitable ?

I'm working on my island base and attempting to use roof decorations, but I'm getting this.

Is it supposed to go through the ceiling, or am I using the wrong materials or does it naturally do that?

Question about Squadrons [Question]

Allright, well I decided to fool with building a squadron if I find nice ships to recruit after reading that they can help defend the new settlements, found an S class hauler and thought that'd do for a first one.. then found an exotic and thought why not as it's another S.. but when recruited it dropped to a C class, and the same thing happened after reloading the save... I thought it was a bit odd but chalked it up to the increased sightings of double and triple identical ships seen in systems since the most recent of patches Beacon 5.72. Anyone else noticed similar odd behavior and is there a fix or is it mostly just wait till the next patch..

Character wishes. [Discussion]

What would you ask Sean for for outfit additions? I love my autophage outfit, but there are some cool parts that the NPC autophage have that would be great if they were available as options for us traveller folks!

Personally though, I would love a droid look like Jimmy from rebel moon, especially when he has the antlers on.

CAUTION

This planet is the most extreme I’ve ever seen in this galaxy, there are blizzards and heavy thunderstorms every single day. It’s been very hard to build here (especially because I’m locked in Permadeath mode!).

Newb Question about matchmaking [Question]

I'm just curious how the matchmaking works. Can creative mode players only see and play with other creative mode travellers and normal with only normal mode travellers or is it pretty open? Sometimes would be nice to see other players settlements on the same planet.

Lost ALL my progress part deux [Bug]

Alright lads and lasses. Last time i made a post I lost 80 hours of hard earned exploration due to some wierd program wizard stuff I myself am too dumb to understand. Well I restarted square one but no worries cuz I had a solid heads start thanks to the past two expeditions I did. Notice the little foreshadowing I did with square one. Well I pop over to the anomaly fully expecting to get my cool living ship and equally cool bone staff. Nope. All gone. As if I never fished for that damn bone fish for the expedition. So I dont even know if I can even recover that. So I'm rather extra frustrated after this update seeing as i'm quite literally starting off at square one. I'll still play as i got a buddy that's been a MASSIVE help so massive shout out to him

Just lost my 300 hour save. [Bug]

I've had a bug for a while where one of my settlements said it was under attack. I teleport there and no hostile forces are there. Not a single sentinel or corrupted sentinel is anywhere near the place. Thought nothing of it. Today I teleport there like usual and it takes a long time to load. I eventually load in with countless enemy indicators on the compass, half a frame per second, and stuttering sound before the game crashes. Every time I load in, I apparently saved when I arrived and the same thing happens.

o7 to my fleet, pets, and settlements.

Settlement map bug [Bug]

Cant use the settlement map in the gas giant system(using it on rain planet). Is there a way to fix this? I have already 3 settlements if this is important (im using the map in korvax system and already have one korvax settlement in another system).

Survey mission glitch [Bug]

It's the second time I spent a while doing one of these survey missions from the Nexus, only to get this glitch at the end, during the hotspot step. After finding the last one, the log goes crazy with flickering numbers (I managed to capture an absurd one in the screenshot) and the mission becomes impossible to complete.

On PC, the only mods I'm using are post-process graphics ones.

Has anyone seen this or knows how to prevent it?

Cross Save Different Microsoft Accounts [Question]

Ok, so I'm probably making this entirely too complicated. I logged like 40 hours on NMS on my Xbox One and now I'm trying to transfer my save to my Series X. The problem is, for some reason both consoles are on different Microsoft accounts. The cross save feature only lets me choose one particular Microsoft account (that I know of). Is there any way around this?

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to make a four way (X) corridor intersection on my freighter base and ladders don’t work ANYWHERE anymore. Can anyone help? [Question]

I swear T shaped corridors used to automatically turn into X corridors when placed between rooms and other corridors on my freighter base. This no longer seems to work no matter what I do. I’ve been messing with freighter corridors for three hours now trying diff. configs with no combo of rooms and/or corridors making an X intersection. Also, ladders don’t work anywhere on my freighter anymore. But think the only place they ever used to work was in the middle of X corridors, so, another problem stemming from the first. Further, I can’t place corridors or rooms above other corridors and rooms unless I build a ramp to the next flight up first, then expand from the top of this ramp. I used to be able to place free standing corridors and rooms above others then make ladders or ramps after placing the upper story. Just trying to do a simple layout redesign of my freighter base and nothing is working like it used to. Total friggin mess as usual with this game I love more than it deserves.

Just recently got back into the game after an extended hiatus, and after hours of searching I think I've found the planet I would like to settle permanently on. I would absolutely love if I had a little community of bases on this planet/system, so if you'd are looking for a cool place to make your base you should come here too! Planet is in a green star system with lots of cool planets within the system, this one in particular I really like because it's quite earth like and vibrant. It's got lots of flora and fauna as well as oceans and land to explore. Also calm weather. Anyway just looking to have some people build bases around me because my friends won't install NMS due to its poor reputation on release. Much love interlopers!

Settlement Stats being weird? [Discussion]

I've been working with the same Settlement for a few years now and Already had it to an A rank with a fairly high population and maxed out productivity and happiness. With the new updates, all of my settlement's stats except the population reset. After upgrading most of my building to S Rank, I've noticed that my Settlement's stats are going above what seems to be the intended cap. The circle for Population cap was completely full back when it hit 200, and it's still going up. Obviously Happiness above 100% is a clear anomaly. Haven't maxed out Productivity yet but I'm willing to wager it will keep going up even after the circle fills. I have also noticed that many Overseer Decisions I make that would reduce Maintenance don't actually change the number.

Just started playing last week and I've been looking at freighters and planning to save to buy one. I wasn't even paying attention to buttons when I claimed this one. I was just trying to inspect it. Well, I got it for free after saving it from pirates. (Free freighters are a thing apparently?) I have my free pick for exchanges, all of them have been downgrades when I look. I'd like an interesting shape and this one is a little too bulky for my taste, but it's growing on me. Now I'm starting to build my fleet around it. Investing in some recoloring is next on my list.

I'm looking for a specific sentinel ship [Screenshot]

I like these colors. So I would be happy to find a ship that has these same colors. I look for the location no matter what class it is. I have the option to simply create a ship with these colors. But this specific ship has a special unique tone. the closest one I found is the one in the image. Her colors are darker, specifically red and blue. The closest one I got is red, not pink. a little lighter and it would be perfect.

I found this cool dude on a planet with "Enormous Nuclear Storms" - it almost looks like a dragon! I was hoping to breed him, but the system that I got him from is no longer in my list. Bugged Multitool Damage? [Bug]

After taking a break from the game for a while, I recently came back to play again. I’d never really bothered to get an amazing multitool, I just grabbed a good one.

My multitool is an A class rifle… with 3889.9 damage potential. I’m assuming this is a visual bug since every other rifle I’ve seen has nowhere near this, and it’s basically impossible to compare stats with anything. Does my rifle actually have this stat (it feels like a normal one damage wise), or is this just a visual bug? And if it is, how can I figure out the actual damage it does?

I can't figure out how to upgrade the building type (NOT class) [Question]

Hello all,

I might be terminally dumb for asking this, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to upgrade the building type (NOT class).

When I get a "Construction Opportunity", I pick the building type, then I build it, resulting in a Class C building. So far, so good. When I inspect it in its own terminal, under "Notes", it says "Can be upgraded to {next_type}", for example, under a Class C Marketplace, Notes says "Can be upgraded to Luxury Bazaar".

I can't figure out how to do that and from where.

Building terminal only allows increasing Marketplace class (C->B->A->S). Once I upgrade its class to B, the option to upgrade type disappears.

Regular search says to go to the Settlement Administration terminal and upgrade it from there, but I never see that option anywhere in that rather simple and straightforward interface.

I tried leaving a building in a settlement at Class C, hoping the settlers will at some point provide me with the option to upgrade that specific building type to the next one, however I am yet to see any such choice.

Is this something stupidly simple that I somehow overlooked?

Lining ship portal base griever? [Question]

I’ve been trying to get the living ship. When I portal to the planet that is required to finish the living ship quest my game completely glitches out and goes black and white screen. I’m hoping I can recover that save… dose anyone know what is going on with that planet?! I saw an image some where that an oversized glitch built short range teleported was placed directly on top of the incoming portal. Is that the living ship world?! Dose anyone have a base on that planet that I could use to access the system that I need to get the living ship quest done? Please, any help or information would be a huge help.

Has any one else had this problem? Do you know if that game save us scrap now or will I be able to get it back?

Base Building [Question]

Is it weird that I don't care about base building at all? Much like Minecraft the base building part seems tedious and I'd rather focus on the survival and discovery part of it so I could very well live in a 4x4 wood box. I feel like I'm missing on some good stuff but base building as well as freighter building seems exhausting.

Do wandering Sentinals not spawn in your origin system? [Bug]

For a few days now I thought my game was bugged as I could not for the life of me find naturally spawning sentinals. Until I saw a commenter that observed that they didn't spawn in their starting system either. After warping to a different system and landing on a planet I encounter a sentinal within moments.

Has anyone else observed this? is this intentional or an unnoticed bug?

As someone of you have seen, my base is extremely chaotic, and I have a very large base, some how the game just keeps letting me place parts and its telling me it still uploadable?

Do we have a definitive answer? i have three base computers that overlap a settlement so I can build around the settlement

Does anyone have a base yet that tells them they can no longer upload because its too large?

Right now it seems as if there is no cap to the size of the base we can make?

Is there a trick to getting an S class staff? [Question]

I’ve been trying to find a terminal that will craft me an S class staff for probably 2 weeks now… I’m exhausted man… I’ve tried all sorts of planets and even used the trick where you remove a piece and get a different staff. I’ve tried dissonant planets, rich systems, average systems, poor systems, aggressive planets, bad weather planets, good planets, anything. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I just the unluckiest traveler in the galaxy?

It was supposed to be the "fractions poster"; you know, the one with the three lines and emblems of the big 3 species - and still is... but only in the build menue. The "Memory poster" from the titans expedition is different from it's catalog emblem too.

Not that I mind it much but I am a bit confused. Does anybody remember when the change happened?

Bugged playthrough? [Question]

Hello, I played aeons ago and came back to the game with the new update. I am currently trying to get access to purple systems but i cant trigger any events I have seen on YT. I Think I completed the Story but stopped by creating a new gally or so, but I still have Atlas eternal and new beginnings as a Quest. Did I bugged my Playthrough and have to delete 180 Hr of gameplay or do I miss something else???

Hi, I’ve been trying to find Runic Focus but I can’t figure out where or how to get it. I’ve checked traders and tried completing missions but no luck so far.

First settlement [Question]

So I just got mission that gets me my first settlement. went there and have done the office and one other building so far. But before I invest too much I wanted to see others thoughts. The planet has radiation of around 6. Low sentinel activity, and I haven't experienced any crazy weather events yet. Does this seem like an okay planet to invest in? Or should I just stop and wait until I find a more ideal place to and use a settlement chart?

Cannot carry more eggs? [Question]

Anyone have info on this? Plan to send to HG as a bug, but wanted to check with the community in case anyone had answers.

Key details: I don’t have any eggs in my inventory. Only have eggs in a storage container (15-20 eggs).

From a companion’s menu the induce egg option is disabled: “Induce Egg (Cannot carry more eggs)”

There are also prompts in the bottom right to open my inventory to hatch an egg that’s ready (again, don’t have any eggs in inventory).

Thought it might be a bug related to eggs in active starships, or even the freighter storage “matter beam” teleport tech, but after troubleshooting it seems it’s not.

Is this normal for a Multi-tool or did I just get a bad roll? [Question]

So I'm a returning player from the pre-multiplayer days. Been really enjoying seeing how NMS has evolved and grown. Getting used to all the new features has been a ride, googling things I don't fully understand whenever I can.

But I've run into something I'm not sure of.

Supercharged slots: From what I've read they are randomly placed on anything they appear on, so when I found a really awesome looking class A multi-tool, I was excited! But failed to notice there weren't any supercharged slots. Is this normal for this type of multi-tool? Or did I just get a really bad roll and need to expand the tech slots further?

Just warped to a new galaxy and entered a conflict with 6 pirated attacking a freighter. After defeating the dusty pirated, the freighter captain offer me to jump in for a juicy reward as I approach to landing I see something in the landpad ahead it was a Gek exotic ship, good thing I finished yesterday some economic surge transports and have enought money to buy it!

Visit old friends bugged? [Bug]

In my log it says that I need to visit my old friends nana and Polo but when I do, nana gives no dialogue and polo offers coordinates for atlas or black holes.

I’ve done a couple of atlases and black holes but I never seem to progress in the quest.

I believe to have finished the atlas questline as I had a final cutscene or it looked like it atleast.. don’t want to write too much to avoid spoilers.

Freighter question [Question]

Hey ho, im new so ill do my best ti understand it 😅 i heard that you shouldnt take the first freighter because there are obvious better ones than the first A or B class.

So i dont spam reloads to get one. Ill do the "event starts and after that because the freighter is again just B class play 3 hours and jumo again

I think i had now 10 or 12 events and not one freighter was even close to s class. Is this random or should i look for certain things to trigger an s class?

Cave trading post [Screenshot]

Just found this cool trading post which was burried underground. I dug it out with a TM a i think it is a pretty sick design. Not sure if this can be somehow considered ,,rare" or ,,cool"...... i thought it was, and wanted to share.
(Not sure why the colors are so faded, i played like 70h. Does the planetary atmosphere make it look off ? If you know please share.)

I’ve just started the game and I’ve been farming dissonant planets for sentinel ships and I keep getting C class fighter ships, most of the time they are the exact same ship, am I just unlucky or does it have something to do with the planet I’m on and it can only spawn those ships?

Salvaged Frigate Modules [Question]

Hi all , recently returned to Nms .I'm struggling to find any salvaged Frigate modules , i have read they can drop from a few sources but nothing appears to be dropping them - i think I had one from a trade station mission.
I've done several derelict freighters , a few crashed ones and sent fleet on several missions over the past week but nothing.

Am i missing something , are they meant to be this difficult to get hold of ?

What do you guys when…. [Question]

What do you do once you find a perfect planet, s class multitool, freighter, ship. Get a settlement and just all in all beat the game. I’ve played since 2019. Only ever kept the same save to check out the new updates. BUT I ONLY HAVE 35 hours played. It feels like it’s to far easy to just get everything you need. Unless I am missing something which is why I’m asking what do you guys tend to do once you have these things.

Major fps drops after playing for a while [Bug]

Like in the title after playing for some time 30-2h game starts to lag going from stable 60 to anything betwen 30 to 12 fps and that is only one problem i had with this game fter coming back to it nothing seems to help and changing any graphic options makes the game unplayable for some reason even lowering graphic will drop fps permanently until restart. Honestly after 90 h in this game i think i will just write negative rewiev for it because of amout of time i sment restarting the game or trying to fix ii, anyway if anybody has a fix for this particular bug i would be thankful i can also add that no graphic settings are not to blem and game should actualy run on better ones than i have it set to and turning off vsync ale does nothing.

No visible citizens in autophage settlement [Bug]

Playing on Xbox series S. Got my first autophage settlement, every building is upgraded to S class, just finished building the marketplace, which fixed the original bug I was dealing with; the buildings being invisible. But another bug that hasn’t resolved itself yet is the invisible citizens.

When I check the overseer office it says I have 18 citizens, but I haven’t seen a single robot walking around yet. I couldn’t find any posts about people having this issue, so I’m hoping it’s not just me. Anybody else get this one and find a fix?

Anyone willing to trade their star born runner or sell it to me? [Question]

It’s a far reach and I’ve never done any form of trades before but I know you sell it to an NPC and I quickly buy it from them. I just started playing again last time I played they didn’t have expeditions so I’ve missed a lot but love the look of the ship.

I should be able to afford it I’ve made a stasis device farm got over 200 mil and counting.

HELP ME WHAT DO I DO IM STUCK [Question]

So I decided to shut down the atlas, and i was just running around the atlas and i saw a thing to like restart simulation or sum like that, i pressed it and now im on a planet with all my upgrades and stuf broken, my ship is completely broken also, but this isnt why I'm making this post, ive been playing the whole game with the sentinel ship called like burner or something, and you need these things to repair just the landing gear, inverted mirror, cannot get that on this planet, crystallised heart, also cannot get that on this planet, and pugneum, ALSO cannot get that on this planet, i have no other working repaired ships to call in, i had no resources on my when j restarted the simulation, i just spent like 20 minutes repairing all my exosuit upgrades, and i have the very basic starting multitool upgrades, i cannot leave this planet, im trapped here and do not know what to do! PLEASE HELP!!

Container link between base and freighter [Question]

I think it's great that the containers I installed on my freighter are virtually linked to those at my main base on a planet. Today, I discovered that this link also exists with the containers I found on a foreign freighter. I rescued this freighter from pirates after my system warp and did not purchase or exchange it from the captain. While touring the freighter, I found the rooms with the virtual containers. I was amazed that the contents were identical to my containers. There is no confusion as I filled them systematically. Is this normal?

Daily nexus mission unlimited now? [Question]

Not sure if my save is in a wierd state, but I'm finding I can do more than 3 dailies per day. Previously I would see 0-3 orange icons to indicate how many daily quests I've accumulated. Now I just see 1 orange icon, and it never goes away. From what I can tell it's now unlimited. Anyone else observing this?

Hey, guys. I think this is my very first post on Reddit, ever, so forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. I play NMS with my dad, who is 72 years old. In his spare time, he has been building out this city, almost entirely of stone. He's spent hours and hours building it. I have contributed about 5% to the build so far. Weird luck - 3 S class MT cabinets in a row [Discussion]

So I was exploring a moon and checked out a minor settlement (one of many I'd found on this moon) and the MT cabinet was S class. So I dropped a save beacon with the intent to fly to the other planets in the system to check the MT pools and see what else was available (as one does).

First planet I went to, I came in almost directly onto a minor settlement. So I land, go in and check the cabinet there. S class cabinet. So that's 2 in a row. I've had this happen before a few times, so didn't think too much of it but dropped a save beacon there as well.

So then I warp to the next planet, drop into the atmosphere and cruise around until I spot another minor settlement. Land there, go in and check the MT cabinet. S class again!

Now, this has never happened to me before. I reloaded and check to make sure it wasn't a glitch and changed class (I've seen this a few times before as well). Nope. Still S class. Restarted the game and still S class. So were the other 2 cabinets.

Weirdest luck I've had in this game for a long time. 3 S class MT cabinet in a row.

Alas, none of the tools in the pools were very interesting, but I grabbed an S class from 3 different pools to scrap for expansion modules and upgrades. So it's all good.

Anyway, just thought it was an interesting lucky streak.

Feed the Autophage? [Question]

While investigating dissonance spikes for sentinel ships you also find these damaged Autophages. I always clean them out as you can find some good stuff. BUT then there is a prompt to feed them 71 atlantideum. For a while I was doing this every time and I would get an ordinal (first, second, third, etc.) and some binary (which I, of course, put into a spreadsheet to translate to decimal, see third screenshot, LOL). I have 1 - 11 and kinda 17. Has anyone ever gotten 12-16? Is there any value to these numbers? Is there any value to continue giving away my atlantideum?

MORE CO-OP [Discussion]

This game truly holds a special place in my heart. I tell ppl about it any chance I get. I’ve gotten some to give it a try as well. The one thing I wish we had more of in this game was co-op. Yes you can explore together, do nexus missions together, but I wish there was something more. From my experience story missions are buggy if you even have anyone in your party, and nexus missions are pretty simple rinse and repeat. At the very least I wish you could do story missions in a similar way you can in Borderlands as an example. There isn’t a whole lot you can do with a player who’s just starting out other than start a new playthrough yourself, but again story missions together can cause issues. Does anyone have similar feelings/ ideas?

item to automatically scan something? [Question]

i am doing one of the earlier missions where i need to scan the planet completely. i have everything and found it so quickly expect 3 minerals. 2 those were extremely small so that was shit but i found them, but for the life of me i cant find this last mineral for 2h now.

this planet doesnt have water/lakebeds i searched every location that look different to any other in case the stone only grows there. i flew acroos the surface and randomly went to different spots on the planet in case it just grows on one side or such i havent been underground, but i see no natural caves or such. and is it likely that a single unique stone is underground while the rest is above

the planet is a paradise type. i really dont know what to do. im so fed up. i hate having undone quests in my quest tag and i cant abandon this one.

please please tell me there is any way to highlight stuff you haven't found yet, or some item to help you find a specific something to scan if you cant find it

Atlantid appearance consistency [Question]

What causes Atlantid multitools to change appearances like this?

Images 1 & 2 are from the same monolith but have different designs entirely when I reload my game on that world.
Reloading causes image 2 to appear and image 1 appears when I go back here after reloading on image 3 & 4's world.

Images 3 & 4 are from a nearby solar system using the same monolith but change when I reload on that world as well.
Reloading causes image 4 to appear and image 3 appears when I go back here after reloading on image 1 & 2's world.

In addition to the appearance changes just yesterday I had discovered on my own how to get Atlantid weapons from monoliths and the design I had received was Image 1's but it was on the same planet as images 3 & 4.
I had got 2 of them before leaving that system and when I came back I was getting image 3 instead of image 1.

I want to reliably farm Atlantid's with image 1's appearance to hopefully get a decent SC slot roll and maybe share the location if I commit to actually finding a good roll.

1: I would like it to be possible to change the color of manufactured ships without having to build another one, 2: being able to buy a space station and manage business in the system 3: automated factories 4: build robot helpers or base security guards 5: hostile NPCs on some planets, with hostile bases or outposts as well

Settlements [Question]

Hi guys I’m kinda new to the game and I’ve came across a settlement and became overseer but for some reason I’m now being told I’m overseer at a different settlement (I haven’t claimed another) I’m not sure if this is a bug or if I have done something wrong does anyone know how to fix it ? "Ghost in the machine" mission help/bug [Bug]

hello, im trying to complete the "ghost in the machine" mission, and one of the objectives is to hire an overseer after placing a terminal in your base, after i done all the step of placing the correct items, now the mission is telling me to go to a station to hire a oversewer, i go to the correct station that it prompted me to, and i can't find the potential overseer at all? i looked up guidses/turorials and its not there? i tried reloading trhe game, replacing the terminal, going to different star systems and it still won't fix it?

is this a common bug? i dont know how to progress

Ghost in the Machine , Construct terminal for specialists. mission [Question]

Hello all, I've been grinding through the missions in No Man's Sky, and I reached the point where Apollo's contact instructed me to expand my base. I went to my nearest base, started construction, and built a terminal for a specialist.

Before recruiting the specialist, I decided I wanted to set this up at a new base on a planet I liked better. So, I deleted the old base with the new terminal and traveled to another location where I had a basic setup. I began construction there, only to realize that the option to build the specialist terminal—something I had access to before—was no longer available.

The mission is still active, but now I'm unsure whether I messed something up and if I’ve effectively locked myself out of progressing.
