Updates [Question]

Due to my god awful download speed (0-10mbps) No Man's Sky has become unbearable to play due to having to wait nearly half a day for a 7.5gb update basically every couple of days and the only option for better speeds due to my location of buttfuck nowhere in Scotland the only option would be StarLink. (Not happening. Basically is there a way to just not update the game but still get to play offline or somethin, I'm on Xbox btw.

Glitching trees, general questions. [Question]

Hello all, I am a new player and I have a few questions and hopefully I can find some fixes to a issue I'm having.

I just filled up my hyper for the first time (and backtracked to find/fix previous drop pods). But I have not used that fuel or progressed that quest.

The issue is, when I get into my ship and only my ship, the trees and rocks will glitch and spaz out. to the effect of I sometimes hit my ship on "nothing". It could be seizure inducing when it's really bad. *my GPU drivers are up to date *I tried to adjust my video settings, but it didn't really help. So I reverted everything back

Would anyone have a idea on what could fix this? Even if it's a mod.

My next question is, are there some sort of chests that I can make? My inventory and ship are almost full, with stuff I don't want to get rid of. I'm totally not a hoarder, what makes you think that?

My last question for now, is there a search feature for crafting stuff? Like with this free multi-tool I got, I have pretty much everything upgraded except for 5 out of 28 slots. Of the 5 slots left I need quad servos and Paraffinium. Using the WiKi to spell these correct tells me that they are easy enough to obtain... but the game doesn't have that info? I understand that you have to have the item first to get the crafting info from it, but at that point you have to do a blind hunt for something, that could be a few planets away.

Any help would be amazing. I'm really loving this game and would like to fix these small issues if I could.

Giant sand worm egg [Question]

Hi, I'm kind of new to the game and I don't know much about it. Today I went on a mission in the anomaly together with another player. When I arrived at the mission planet, he landed on his base that was on the planet. I found it strange.He had given me a valuable item to sell and sent me a friend request, so I wanted to be friendly and followed him to the base. There he was waiting for me and waved when I got off the ship, the base was next to an NPC data structure, he took me to a room and showed me a message, "SAVE HERE"I hadn't understood and when I turned around I started taking maximum heat damage, and he had locked the door, I died about 3 times until I managed to load since I hadn't saved there, I managed to recover My items because of the load, I don't know how common this is but it left me very scared and I don't want it to happen to anyone else My items because of the load, I don't know how common this is but it left me very scared and I don't want it to happen to anyone else, The image is his username

I bought this game when it came out. Played it for approximately 7 hours and I was like meh.

My cousin tells me it is very much updated. I give it a shot this week, and I love this game. Good on the Devs for sticking to it. This game is awesome. I still have no real idea what I am doing, but I am thinking about trying to mine down to the core of one of the planets for the hell of it.

Pirate freighter S-class [Question]

Does anyone have any recommendations for getting the S-class pirate freighter?

I've been fighting the pirate freighter for two days on the rescue mission, and so far I've been able to find the A-class freighter...

If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

My base is on a planet that was populated during an expedition. I’ve set up 10 bio domes full of hydroponic stations. I’ve also planted a whole field of star bramble. Can others come harvest these resources? I hope so because I want people to be able to come and get free stuff. Also, if they do harvest it does the timer only reset for them and others are still able to harvest it?

Beacon Settlement Major Bugs [Bug]

So +1 population just increases Max Population - doesn't add anyone new even when you get a message like "settlement welcomes....". My settlements have massive Max Population and still stuck with under 20 people. New settlements don't produce anything - I have various items selected and there's no debt and none of the three new settlements have produced anything all week. My original settlement is fine though.

Not the type we do to capture a dreadnaught. But like the ability to use the dreadnaught against another. i think that would be awesome, pitting your dreadnaught against another for loot. Or likehave a war start up between the Gek and Korvax or even something with the warmongering Vy'keen. Idk man just something, that lets me use my Dreadnaught in a combat sense ya know?

Switch 2 Edtion missing mouse mode and FOV slider [Discussion]

Just got the switch 2 edition of the game and it look and runs beautifully! My only gripes are the FOV slider doesn’t actually change anything, and the mouse mode for the joycons is not compatible. I feel like this game would be a really good use case for the mouse mode so that’s a shame!

Is there a way to abandon or reset "A Trace of Metal"? [Question]

Title says it. Is there a way to abandon or reset the questline "A Trace of Metal"?

I had been working on this questline since before the Beacons update. Now there is a hill that spawned covering the overseer's office, and I can't access the terminal I need to click to "recieve anomoulous broadcast." In fact, the office and terminal are not there at all. I've used base building to glitch myself under the hill. Nothing is there, though I can see the little hovering icon for the quest. Nothing is clickable though.

Ive tried to "retire as overseer" but it won't allow me because my settlement is linked to that quest. I just want to continue that questline. Lol I dont mind starting over and scrapping the bugged settlement if it means I can continue.

If anyone could help me with literally any ideas, I would be so grateful! Thank you!

My second custom ship in three days 👽. Love the chase man… The first design planning in my head (while working in the office), then the parts’s hunt, then the nanite farming, next finding the space station that sell reactor with the highest discount 🤭, next the assembly and finding space station which can yield an OK technology slot condition.

For this one, the parts combo is Cockpit: Needle, Wings: Heavy, Thruster: Single, Reactor: S-Class.

Trick for using Distress Beacon Charts. [Information]

I am new to NMS and this is probably old info for most. If you use Distress beacons and are tired of getting Observatories, abandoned buildings and freighter crashes, Just leave them alone. Once you summon one using the chart you cannot summon another of that type using the distress beacon chart. Now some will still be with people needing repairs or have a bounty, but those are usually quick. If you get the error message, just keep on summoning using the chart until a ship distress beacon comes up. Will save you a bunch of charts and time.

Settlement decisions that affect maintenance cost [Question]

Whenever I get a settlement decision/visitor/dispute that would affect the maintenance cost (especially lowering) and I choose that option, the maintenance cost does not go down. Whenever it involves any other parameter (even productivity going down) I see it immediately. Do I have to wait a day or something or an I missing something else?

Is it possible to find cobalt and magnetized ferrite deposits on the same planet? [Question]

Trying to set up automated mining operations for cobalt and M ferrite, but want them on the same planet. Been warping all over the galaxy and scanning with my freighter for hours but haven’t had one find. Has me wondering if it’s just not possible / they’ve been hard coded as separate (like you can’t have cadium and indium on the same planet)?

Lost all my progress after update [Question]

I downloaded the newest update then tried to play but none of my previous saves could be found. It was making me start all over. I tried loading from both my pc and Xbox and the same thing keeps happening. My saves have all disappeared from my cloud and seems to overwritten my local saves. I got Ark'd in NMS [Bug]

Just a PSA for new players like myself. If you only have one void egg and at the end of the void egg mission it's "CRACKED" don't bother trying to use or sell it. Be happy with the ship you already have until you can earn enough for another. It's a glitch or bug that been around so don't waste your time trying to pulse, pray or restore a save. Good Luck fellow travelers smh (feeling slightly defeated)

I somehow removed the ground limit and you can go out of the map, but it'll teleport you up.

If you guys wanna go there, the name of the base should be Cecel Outpost. I don't know if it will still be glitched by the time someone comes at the outpost.

Luckiest Landing Ever [Screenshot]

While doing the weekend Nexus quest, I came in to a landing on the target planet, which was having a wall of fire store at the time, so I couldn't really see where I was landing. Turns out I landed on top of a Gek monolith. So of course I activated the monolith was thought it odd that it's parable was about a winged creature that landed on top of that very monolith!

Save Version 4182 on SteamDB? [Question]

Pretty straightforward question. Does anyone know is there anyway to get Save Version 4182 from SteamDB?

I'm obviously trying to downgrade my Steam version to a version compatible w/ the Switch 2 version. The Switch 2 is running version 4182.

I downloaded the manifest 8665754139637837018 which is dated 06/04/25, but that is still an incompatible version (Version 4183).

The next oldest manifest is from April. Did steam never get version 4182?

Tested and Confirmed Freighter Farm [Screenshot]

Decided to start farming for a S class freighter and went with the “in and out” method (leaving a battle after it’s finished and returning to the same system to reload the battle). After the dreadnought surrenders, I would scan the freighter after landing, check to see its class, and collect the tribute (if the class is not satisfactory). I would then fly to the civilian freighter and do the same, minus the tribute. I managed to generate an S class on the civilian ship, and wanted to test this system to see what could disrupt this method.It seems that nothing I could think of could do it.

Pulsing away to despawn the ships, then leaving and coming back.

Landing on both a planet and station creating a save point (didn’t have one since the start of the farm).

Portaling out to one of my bases and coming back.

Closing the game out entirely.

Nothing seemed to break the battle encounter. I will note that when I bought the civilian freighter and came back to start testing, I realized I didn’t move it from where I took it. The battle or the freighter was moved away and it was changed to the other capital freighter. Also, during testing I managed to spawn two more S class ships, one of each. The third was the dreadnought in the pic.

I hope this experiment reaches far and wide in this community and was not in vain lol.

Sudden Performance change when power went out and game became unplayable [Question]

Hi - hoping I can get some suggestions on what happened. I was playing NMS when the power went out and the computer went to battery power. It was temporarily fine, but then the battery dropped out and it powered down.

Whenever I started it back up again once power was restored, it runs really slowly, the lag is crazy and the GPU is maxed at 100%. Seems something got automatically altered, but I've tried playing around with the settings and I can't fix it.

I'm playing on an Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop with a NVIDIA 3060 Laptop GPU and an I7 CPU with 16GB of RAM.

Until this problem, the game ran fine on High settings.

How to make a backup? [Question]

I saw a post recently (I don't know if here or elsewhere) talking about the issues of this new update and It made me think It made me wonder if there is any way to make a second save in case something goes wrong and I lose my progress.

I'm new to the game, but I've invested about 50 hours and I wouldn't want to lose it all for some bug or anything else like that.

NMS VR keeps crashing on Quest 2 [Question]

Hi all,

I started playing NMS on my Quest 2 vr via SteamLink and it crashes after about 15 minutes of usage with the same error each time. The game isn't laggy or anything prior to the crash, and it seems to happen every 15 minutes or so. I lowered my setting to standard and it still consistently happens. Any ideas on how to fix it?

New PSVR2 + Ps5 Pro player 😱 [Video]

So I just started really playing this game 3 days ago after unsuccessfully attempting to leave the first planet in VR like 2 years ago when Sony dropped their new headset. Basically, I’m 17 hours in now, just reached the multiplayer anomaly Death Star (which is so dope btw), and am currently on the Artemis missions. I really am at a loss for words on just how AWESOME this game is @ it’s current state in 2025.

I’ve never played a game that has wowed me quite like this in the opening tutorial missions. From what I’ve read, now that I’ve reached the multiplayer aspect the game is essentially open fully to me now?!? The Ps5 Pro definitely increases resolution and frame rate and I play on quality mode with VRR on my LG C2 OLED. I alternate between VR and flat, as my Vr legs now are 90 mins max lol

Basically y’all….please give me any help or info you can offer especially veteran players ?!? 👀

I’m based in the Euclid galaxy and my base planet is filled with Gold, Silver, Carbon, Sodium, Chromatic Metals etc. My planet also has no extreme weather however also has no life forms or fauna. I’m 17 hours in but I give this game a high 9 out of 10. I’m really wanting to call it perfect tbh

Pirate freighter VS Sentinel freighter [Question]

Hello fellow Travellers, I was farming AI fragments rn and when the sentinel freighter spawned I had the good idea to summon my freighter (a B class pirate freighter) as well to see if it will support me in battle.

Well... It did, just the time to take down the sentinel freighter shields and my freighter one-shotted it without effort, the only problem is that for some reason it didn't drop the AI fragment and the sentinel attack didn't stop resulting in a bug.

Is this normal behaviour? Should I try this again? If someone else tried the same thing it had the same result for you?

What are the funniest characteristics you've seen on the NPCs in your settlements? [Discussion]

Since the Beacon update, I've been having a blast running around my settlements, talking to the settlers and checking out the random little tidbits of information I can see about them. There are some real gems in there, so I'd love to see what wacky characteristics and whatnot other people have found in their settlers.

My personal favorite is my settlement where I arrived to see that they had an evil AI overlord who had banned dancing. This made a lot more sense when the profile for the first settler I talked to listed his dancing ability as "Abysmal."

Honorable mention to the guy who was looking for Nitrogen Salt and the other guy sprinting in the opposite direction who "regrets what happened with the Nitrogen Salt."

I'm obsessed with the information we get on our settlers, so if you've seen any funny ones, I'd love to hear it!

I swapped out my Sentinel Style Freighter [Screenshot]

I sacrificed 30+ inventory slots but it's worth it. My main problem with that type of freighter is the entering and exiting of the hanger bay. Not only is it blocked by two masts, but the "sensor" to grab your ship is finicky due to the reduced size. I found myself hitting the walls too much trying to fly in. Yeah I'm a bit wreckless but other freighter types are much more open.

5 Planets, 1 moon, NO planetary fauna on any of them [Discussion]

I have never come across this before. A solar system with 5 planets and a moon (Damp, Dusty, Frost Bound, Irradiated, Torrid, Terraforming Catastrophe) and NONE of them have any fauna. Plenty of plants, some oceans... but no life. Anyone else find a system like this?

Hi all! I just started playing NMS just a week and a half so so ago, and I am just mesmerized. It's so much more than I expected. I somehow resisted many years taking the plunge, and then I finally did, and it's definitely one of the most enjoyable meditations in gaming I've been fortunate to play, and I've been gaming a very....very....very long time. 1981 to be exact with an Apple IIe computer.

So, given all the options for play style, from role playing like elements, to space combat, to exploration, to base building - what are you long timers doing with your gaming time? What keeps you coming back for more?

My Planetary Defense Cannon Base. [Screenshot]

First Reddit post ever. Anywho. I spent a day building this. It's max upload capacity so I unfortunately can't build more. Its complete with blast shields over the windows and doors. Hit a switch and full lock down occurs. I built an EM Power plant(L) and a laser mining facility(R) with a pipeline to the base. Interior is fully decorated. Has a vehicle bay, 4 smaller base cannons, landing area, and 115,000 copper storage area (that I don't recommend collecting 😅). Didn't want to spam interior photos tho so I'll show you my favorite part, the energy core which goes into lockdown as well, and the main control area. And yes I'm Gek. A Gek for life.

I had found a good spot for a perma base, but I need a little help. I had found a power spot for an EM tower, but it's over 800 U away from my base computer which is well out of range. Is there a way to get power from there to my base?

Settlement overwritten? [Bug]

Today I was managing my settlement when I decided I'd rename the planet it was on. Then, the next time a citizen had a proposal, I went back and it looked like the settlement had been replaced by the default unupgraded one. When I interacted with the statue in the center of town, it said I was still overseer of my upgraded one, and I even still had a marker telling me to go to the office, which was completely invisible for some reason. The settlement and all the upgraded stats were still in the register, but it looks like the old default appearance from before I took it over and found it via the map years ago.

Is this a known bug? Anyway I can get my old settlement to return? I've tried jumping and teleporting around, turning multiplayer on and off, and even submitting a zendesk report to Hello Games.

Thinking I may just have to start over with a new settlement...

Found Salvaged Scrap 3 hours into new save, tips? Haven't played in a long time [Question]

Haven't played since probably around 2018 and never got really far back then either. I'm apparently very wealthy right now and I'm not sure what I should prioritize. I know the game's changed a lot since launch (please Sean, you don't have to keep dropping free updates.) and I'd like to spend my money SOMEWHAT efficiently.

Maybe 2.6 mil isn't even a lot in this game, I don't even know. Should I upgrade my Multi-Tool? My ship? My Exosuit? Should I use this money to jumpstart something to bring in more money down the road? I just don't wanna waste it.

I traveled to a new galaxy and got stuck in my broken ship. I called up a working ship and flew away now I don’t know where my old ship is and I can’t call it because it’s too damaged to fly. I know what planet it’s on but not sure where I left it..

Is it lost forever? Or is there a way to find it?

im trying to get a walker brain and i get to 3 boxes or whatever and one of the sentinels always starts running away but then im too busy dealing with the ones near me to chase after it and by the time ive dealt with the close one the one that ran away is off to the hills and then the sentinels start searching and then i lose my wanted level how the heck am i supposed to keep them on me??! any easier ways to get a walker brain?

Just had a harrowing few minutes that made me realize something's missing that we could really use. [Suggestion]

I logged in to check on my settlement, which is on a nice normal(ish) planet. I load in to a black screen and my HUD telling me I'm passing 500u into deep water, when there's nothing deeper than 80u anywhere on this planet.

Oh great, I've spawned way underground somehow and am falling through the planet and "in deep water" is just how it's being interpreted. I hit my jump-pack hard and manage to "surface," but now everything is grey instead of black.

So I'm stumbling around my settlement, "blind," trying to interact with my ship or the teleporter in my office to get anywhere else. All the menus, my scanner, the other UI, all work fine. But I'm blind, even in my ship cockpit. I'm desperately loading my inventory into my ship and freighter in case I have to die and my grave ends up in the center of the planet somehow. (Reloading the save didn't fix it)

I save at my ship (whew, at least I'm standing next to that now instead of trapped in my overseer office) and quit the game. Verify the files, relaunch and everything's fine now.

BUT. Here's what I needed: A suit tech that's an Emergency Teleport to the Space Anomaly. Give it like a 3hr cooldown or something, but that would have been awesome when I was "falling" through the planet and thought I was gonna die. We have Emergency Warp for our ships (which we don't use anyway because summoning the Space Anomaly is better in every way), we need Emergency Teleport for our suits.

Settlements and construction options/new buildings [Information]

So I don't know where the discussion was now but it was about not getting new buildings in your settlement options. So I'm pretty sure not everyone is as dumb as me but just in case. You can't get construction options when your upgrading another building, I know, Duh. I never really thought about it but now that all my buildings got upgraded and I'm NOT building or upgrading anything, I'm getting those choices pretty regularly. I'm not sure if you get em if you just DON"T upgrade anything but maybe.

Toxic Flora ruins the visuals. [Suggestion]

I've had so many wonderful views and moments ruined by those stupid hazardous Flora that just spew those awful green fart clouds.

Mechanically, they're fine. My issue is that the hazardous Flora that spews green fart gas everywhere looks awful in nearly every environment, and actively ruins the visual atmosphere of a lot of planets.

The awful green fart clouds should really just be a transparent haze, or simply not be emitted until you get close enough to activate them or something.

How do I start to enjoy the game again? [Question]

Hi all, im a player who has about 200 hours on record. I used to play on PlayStation before i switched over to steam. Never completed the game on PS, but i did all 3 main storylined on my steam save, and shortly afterwards, I lost the joy in playing. Fix for Switch 2 cross-save version [Information]

To do this I've used NMS on Steam, a PC, NMS Save Editor, and a Switch 2.

I, along with everyone else trying to play a save from PS5/PC on their new Switch 2 was disappointed when I found that I couldn't because the save file was from a newer version than the version running on Switch 2.

I am in now way guaranteeing what I am about to say, so please make sure you backup everything. But, using the NMS save editor you can edit the save version. I have used the Steam version to access the save file, then uploaded to cross save. I am not sure how to access the save files on PS5 or any other system.

There are plenty of posts and pages out there describing how to use the NMS Save Editor so I'm not going to repeat everything here.

Load your save.

In the Edit menu select Edit Raw JSON

In the JSON editor select version, then replace the number with 4182

Close the JSON editor then on the Main save changes.

Now replace the safe file with the edited save file.

Do this at your own risk, I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong. I haven't thoroughly tested this, I've literally loaded it on Switch 2 and got excited to share with everyone.

Is my game done for? [Bug]

I'm following the void egg questline and have had nothing but bug after bug, for me this game is borderline unplayable. I just went through a portal and now when I load in this is all I see. Is this save done for? When I reload an earlier autosave I get a different bugged out screen. I'm about ready to uninstall permanently. Is there anything else I can do before my rage takes over and its gone forever?

My PC is more than capable of running this game and runs every other game seamlessly with my 3060ti, I want to love this game but feel I've totally wasted my money and time on it.

Knowledge stones: Do they repeat words? [Question]

I went to the knowledge menu and it shows the words I know from each species.

I counted the ones that I didn't know and, coincidentally:

Gek: 32 missing words

VyKeen: 32 missing words

Korvax: 32 missing words

OK... odd, but it could happen.,

I then looked up 5 knowledge stones around me (korvax system) and it said I learned a word each time. However, going back to the menu it still show that I am missing 32 words.

With this I assume the knowledge stones can repeat words, and they just give you a random word each time. However, when reading about it I couldn't get confirmation. Some people even said that it is always a new word until you learned all the possible ones.

Does anyone have confirmation? Is it truly random?

What is this this thing? [Question]

I was trying to get my living ship and this weird shield generator thing was directly on top of the portal. Whenever I touched it or was even inside of it my screen got the freezing cold effect and everything turned dark. I tried digging into/under it and it ended up crashing my entire game. There is a nameless base icon below it so I assume its some cheater putting things there that isn't supposed to be. Is this a common thing? Is there a way to get around it?

Water frame drops only when landing on the planet [Question]

When i land on / approach a planet with at least some water, my fps drops to somewhere like 8. But when i load a restore point in the exact same spot my fps is a stable 60, with the same settings.
Does this have something to do with the water not loading in properly so is there any way to fix it other than just lowering the quality?

I've been Sentinel hunting and found these so far. Still not my perfect ship, but I feel like I keep getting closer... Debating on calling it quits or continuing my search. What would you do? [Screenshot]

The first picture is of my first colorful sentinel that I've had the longest. The rest of them I just recently searched for over the course of hours just to find. I wanted something different that would be my perfect match of colors and design... but it's just so tedious. Should I even bother continuing?

Finished the Atlas path again after a 3-year hiatus. Here's my faves on the way there. [Screenshot]

Took me about 15 or so hours, got up to 150 million credits by reselling sentinel ships, but kept the S class one I found, also found an S class rifle and an A class capital ship, just before ending the path. Pretty happy with what I did. I'm in Hilbert now, can't wait to see what's out there.

Mission target in another galaxy, no clue which one [Question]

Mission is "Support the Expedition: Assist Passage into Lost Worlds". The one that pops up in a communication from your fleet while on expedition. Objective is to "translate a mysterious message". I've jumped several galaxies and systems since I received the transmission and now I have no clue how to find it. Any workarounds? Please fix how VR players hold staffs. [Bug]

So I spent a long time building this staff, I know it's just the starter staff but ammonia and sulpherine and radon and blah blah blah. It was at least a few sessions worth of work.

And I hold it like this. Please let me hold the staff like anyone would hold a staff.

Maybe have the laser shoot where the HMD is looking, similar to RE7 on PSVR with a controller? Or maybe have us aim the staff?

As it is, this hurts. This hurts my heart. I understand Hello Games is working hard and I appreciate that, but please put this on your list of things to fix soon.

Pretty please, with tacos on top. I've never asked for anything on these forums, today I am asking for this. Please fix how VR users hold staffs.

Newish player, finishing up the void egg quest. I input the coordinates to the portal and warped, but this happened whenever I arrived to the planet. Newbie with some questions [Question]

Please no spoilers. Main questwise, Ive reached the anomaly, but havent advanced the main quest beyond that yet. I do have a freighter though.

Right now, I've got a few questions. I apologize in advance if these are common for this sub.

How safe is this sub if I want to avoid spoilers?

My partner and I want to play this game together, and I am trying to see how extensive the multiplayer is. We learned we can trade items and did a nexus mission together.

2.a.can we build bases or freighters together?

2.b. If i have storage containers in my base, can she access them? If so, does she see my inventory or hers?

2.b.i. same with refineries

2.c. i know we cant give each other multitools or spaceships (beyond NPC middlemen). What about gear? Like if i take a gun off my multitool, can I give that to her?

2.d. if we play a non-nexus mission together, will it advance for both of us together or do we each need to complete its goals?

I have the "assistant for no mans sky" app, but feel a little overwhelmed by it. Is there a good newbie guide on how to use it?

I have found some weird fossil things with a bunch of special characters in the name. The artifact exchange stations dont take them, so what are they for?

What is the workaround for Helios to accept new data? [Bug]

Since starting this new character on PS5, Helios has only taken new data on the first time I accessed the Nexus. I know this has been a bug each time I have played, but in the past warping to a new undiscovered galaxy works, or waiting 24 hours. Neither is working, and I have submitted to Zen Desk, BUT. I think I am doing something wrong to make this so!

Has anyone on the PS5 platform found a way? The waiting 24 hours absolutely doesn't work, it has been over 2 weeks at this point. I love completing the scanning of EVERYTHING, so this is such a downer for me. Any help would be appreciated!

It's been over a week... [Question]

...since Beacon came out and the new base building parts still aren't rendering on XBox. I see other players building with the new parts just fine. Are those PC players, in which case is this a platform issue? If so, does anyone know a way to resolve the issue on console (e.g. can changing a graphics setting resolve it)? Or do we need to wait for HG to fix this?

The new category of base building parts was what I was most excited about with Beacon, but I can't even use them. It's been extremely frustrating.

Do I need to do the main quest to get to the cool stuff? [Question]

Dabbled here and there since launch day in 2016 but really got into it since switch 2. I’ve now surpassed where I was in a previous save around the 5 hour mark after just getting a freighter, haven’t got one this time but I feel like I keep finding the same stuff? Just very similar empty planets and empty solar systems. Obviously I understand that’s the game to an extent and I’m really enjoying my experience so far, but I mean things like floating island, dune worms, space pirate battles, more customisation options etc etc. How do I get to that? Is it just random chance? Or do I need to visit specific galaxy types, like I know you can only get gas giants in purple galaxies. I’m following the main quest in the hopes it leads me to more out-there things but is it more just an extended tutorial with little reward?

Also do you get a freighter as part of the story or was that a fluke from my previous save? And if so how do you get a freighter for free, if that’s at all possible?

I Love This Game and I Love HG But… [Question]

I gotta be honest, the settlement update isn’t great. It adds very little functionally, the biggest issue with settlements before was that there was really no reason to go back to your settlement once you’ve maxed it out. I was fortunate enough to have a settlement that produces Geknip, so ultimately it was a good moneymaker, just not the best moneymaker. That’s still the case, it’s nice to be able to select the output, but none of them are very game changing, some of them literally take days. Then, imo, the most disappointing thing to me is nothing is very different visually. Even after upgrading everything in my settlement I already had, the only difference is now I have a fishing pond. My autophage settlement looks different, but buildings don’t even look any different once you upgrade them. The walls go up, construction commences, and fireworks go off only to reveal…the same exact building but this one has better numbers if you look at the terminal. I would LOVE IT if someone could change my mind.

My base is becoming filthy [Screenshot]

I decided to rebuild parts of my base and I noticed it became dirty lol. You can clearly tell apart which walls are old and which are new. Interesting detail, I never noticed my bases becoming filthy in my 115h with this game.

Is this something that just happens? Is there a way to prevent it, or to clean your walls?

Multitool Damage [Question]

Looking for input....

This was my second multitool, found about 20ish hours into the game. I'm now 300ish hours, have the alien multitool, three exotics and a sentinel, and none come close to the damage this one puts out. Was I just really, really lucky when I picked this one up, or is there still something out there that beats the damage this one puts out, and I just need to keep looking? This one does what I need, I'm just surprised it stacks up so well against the one I have that are considered "end game" multis.

3 big ships showed in my base, now 1 is stuck. What can I do? [Question]

Hey there! I was chilling in my base when suddenly 3 huge ships appeared. I shot with my ship one of them and now it's there stuck in the air. I see it has some landing pads but it doesnt let me land. Can I destroy them or land somehow?

Started playing again. Lost multiple missions to bugs already. [Bug]

I play Warframe, I'm used to the occasional bug. But good lord, I've lost two out of three missions in the past few hours to bugs. One, I was surveying a planet, and it bugged on the gas/mineral/energy hotspot scan, with the hotspot type cycling infinitely in the corner and not giving me credit. Two, I loaded into the anomaly on top of other ships, so I was stuck in the landing animation. Lost a completed Sentinel pillar assault mission to that.

I'm starting to remember why I quit.

Game randomly "freezes" but can still move camera etc. just can't do anything! Started happening after installing 5.72 [Bug]

Having a really strange issue since 5.72 was installed. Playing NMS on PC, using PC Game Pass version, using Xbox Controller.

When I'm playing in Multiplayer, the game will all of a sudden "freeze", but I can still move the camera and characters move.

For example, see attached screenshot. I can't get out of this, but the Gek is moving it's arms, I can move the camera around with my controller/mouse, and I can see my friend running around in the background, however I can't exit, I'm stuck in this, can't escape or anything. No further prompt to exit the conversation with the Gek.

Tried taking batteries out of controller and nothing, tried using keyboard and mouse to exit but nothing.

I then have to force close the game and re-open it. It's happened about 3 or 4 times now! I'm not aware of anything I'm doing in particular to make it trigger, other than speaking to an NPC, so far!

Anyone else had this issue?

Having an issue with Settlements. Description in text. [Bug]

Trying to build a building, but there is no terminal at the construction site. It says to take the Pure Ferrite to the terminal but its just not there - and because I have an active quest, I cant retire as an overseer. This is also happening to a second settlement I have but i cant even build an overseer's office as its the same thing. is there anything I'm doing wrong or is this a bug? Many thanks!

Landscape generation has become better even on non-purple systems. [Screenshot]

I found this large plateau in the middle of high mountains on a regular planet with a yellow star. If you need it, I can send you the address of the portal. I put a couple of beacons in especially beautiful places

In one place I found a high mountain with several ledges in the middle of a huge plateau. It looked just like Erebor from the Hobbit

A normal planet, but on one of its parts there is a large number of really complex and sharp mountains. This is much better than what was after the release of NEXT

How long does the update take to launch on the Switch? [Question]

I recently got NMS on the Switch since it has cross save, so I tried to play my 400h PC save but when I try to play it, it says the save is in a newer version and can't open. It make sense since a patch released a couple a days ago. So maybe the patch is not ready for Switch or is there another reason? Any way to fix this?

Does cross play not current work between Steam and Switch 2? [Question]

My brother just got NMS on his switch 2 and there seems to be a version mismatch between the two versions. I believe the Switch 2 version is 5.7 and Steam is 5.8, but I'm not 100% sure. Is there any information on when the Switch 2 version will be updated, and/or is there a way I can revert my game back to his version so we can play together?

Newbie confidence [Question]

I'm new to NMS. The game has been a blast. Already spent 15 hours into it in a span of 2 days. Yes!

I initially played on normal but on permadeath mode now and haven't died yet. Newbie confidence. 😂

I started on a red planet, I'll call it Mars, got through the fiery storm and venture to a foggy planet with no hazard weather. I'm going to gather materials here, upgrade my ship and tools then come back to Mars to setup my first base and to memorize it my starting planet. 😂

Does the game get a lot more challenging later? And can I finish the game without engaging in any ground or space combat?

Any tips playing on permadeath?

Playing on Switch 2 by the way. I have a bad aim when using handheld.. so going to play in dock mode

what exactly does survival mode offer? [Question]

hi! just got the game for the first time on the switch 2, and i have a few questions about the differences between normal and survival.

generally i like challenges and hard mode in survival games, but the game doesn't tell me much about what it changes. for example, is it like hard mode in terraria where bosses are harder but drop better loot? or is it just harder than the normal mode?

i also want to ask about online limitations, i've heard a bit about online play on no man's sky and it seems fun, but i can't imagine that normal and survival players will be on the same server or universe or whatever. i think that i'd like to play on the mode with the most online players if possible, but i won't be online all the time.

anyways sorry if these questions sound dumb, i'm just a little confused xd. any answers and advice would be appreciated !!

edit: also, can you change the game mode of your save? just in case i change my mind later!

How to get to bext galaxy [Question]

In the first galaxy and have completed the main questline, and followed the main advice to refuse to wipe the galaxy because i would lose all of my upgrades

Is there still any way to get to the next galaxy? Because nowhere on the internet seems to know where to get freighter warp drive upgrades, no ship i can get seems to be able to break past 2500 lightyears, and all of the portals that got me there before have mysteriously disappeared

I really dislike the space combat [Discussion]

I've been grinding sentinel ships, and every time I'm at the stage where I'm fighting sentinels in space to get the carrier AI fragment it just feels like a PITA.

The enemy AIs don't follow the same rules as you do in combat. They're faster and more maneuverable, taking wide arcs around your ship. The 'autolock' feature isn't really able to keep up with this, so every time I just end up aimlessly spinning while the enemy ship orbits my own. If I manage to spot them and counteract the rotation enough to aim at them, it's usually just during the window where they're doing an attack run straight for you. This gives me a tiny amount of time to hit them, usually while having to compensate for the inaccuracy of the 'autolock', and then they blaze past you and you have to do it all over again.

There's no real option to get behind them and tail them, like you would think you should be able to. Attempting this usually ends up in an infinite loop where you're spinning around each other. If you do manage to start hitting them, usually it's while they're getting ready for an attack run, where they take a near instant 180° turn. You can't turn that fast, so once they pass you you basically just have to wait until they decide to attack you again.

You can't sit still and try to just focus on aiming at them, because the decelerate button is the same as the autolock button.

I don't think I'm properly vocalizing all the issues I have with this, but I hope that I'm understood. Out of all the features of this game, this is the one that rips me out the most and makes me feel like I'm contending with some system that the developers put in place. NMS does a lot of stuff well to make you feel like you're exploring, building, participating in economies, despite being in a video game. Latest update destroyed my game [Bug]

Most recent update (one after Beacons) has completely broken my game. I can download the PS4 version but not the PS5. It was working fine this morning until I got an update for it. Now I can't even download the game back to restore my license. I've reset the ps5, put it in safety mode, everything. Nothing is working and I don't wanna delete my 498 hour save. Any advice???

PS5 Issue can't download/update [Question]

Anyone else having issues since game update. Was playing fine until the recent update. Now it says theres corrupted data and even with everything deleted. Licences restored. And the cache being cleared in the safe mode. It won't even download the ps5 version of the game. Anyone have ideas to help fix this? Thanks in advance

New to the game. 3-4 hours in [Question]

This game seems pretty fun but I can tell that it’s going to require a lot of hours. I’m kind of lost and have probably made mistakes.

I made a base on a toxic planet. I did not know I had an option. The game said to build a base so I did. Should I start over on another planet?

There seems to be 2 types of currency. Is there a way to exchange one for the other or are they separate things?

Is there a way to make some storage in the base? I need to upgrade my suit but I haven’t even finished my first upgrade yet. There are just too many things and I want to keep them all. What type of items should I just be selling?

Should I concentrate on suit upgrades or maybe an advanced mining laser? Or should I try to advance through the game until I unlock better equipment?

I am playing on mac m1 trying to get cross save to work from ps4 ,according to steam it’s up to date and my ps4 is on version 5.72 And has cross save management option ,however my steam version does not have the manage cross save option at the same screen How can I tell which version I am running on steam and if anybody has this same problem? 24h save gone [Discussion]

Question about ruined worlds [Question]

Im trying to find polished stone to upgrade some buildings in a settlement but have been extremely unsuccessful in finding any ruined worlds. How do i find these? Corrupted Glyphs [Question]

The last 4 times I have tried to use a portal I have received a message that the coordinates I entered are corrupted and I end up in an ‘approximate location’ that doesn’t seem to be anywhere near I wanted to go. Is a paradise planet really all that? [Question]

I’ve come across numerous paradise planets. All beautiful in different ways. I have also come across Verdant, bountiful, and tropical planets that are just as beautiful but a tad more exciting due to the weather(eg.storms).

Do people really prefer the calm serene paradise planets?

Or do players enjoy a bit of stormy weather or even extreme weather?

Estou com uma dúvida mais técnica sobre a mecânica de extração de recursos no No Man’s Sky, principalmente relacionada aos depósitos subterrâneos de minérios e gases.

Ao escanear um planeta, o jogo mostra até três tipos de minérios disponíveis (por exemplo: cobre, parafínio e prata). No entanto, ao procurar depósitos subterrâneos usando o scanner de recursos (com o visor de análise), eu só consigo encontrar um único tipo por vez, seja minério ou gás, como se os outros dois não existissem naquele planeta.

Já com o laser de terreno (mineração direta), consigo encontrar normalmente os três minérios listados — cobre, prata e parafínio aparecem espalhados em rochas pela superfície. No caso dos depósitos subterrâneos, usados para mineradoras elétricas (extrator de minerais ou extrator de gás), eu sempre encontro apenas o mesmo tipo, mesmo após explorar por mais de 2000u de distância. Isso vale tanto para gás quanto para minério.

Minhas dúvidas são as seguintes:

  1. Existe um limite de tipos de minérios e gases subterrâneos por planeta?
    Mesmo que o planeta mostre três tipos na análise, é possível que apenas um deles esteja disponível em forma de depósito subterrâneo? Ou os outros dois também existem e são apenas mais raros?

Essa é a maneira que eu uso para minerar cobre atualmente, limitado a 5 desses por base!

  1. Como encontrar os diferentes tipos de depósitos subterrâneos (minerais ou gases)?
    Existe alguma técnica específica além de explorar grandes distâncias? Ou há planetas onde, de fato, só existe um tipo desses depósitos acessível por extrator?

  2. Qual o significado das cores dos depósitos ao escanear o planeta?
    Por exemplo: no meu caso, o...

Is this the best X-class upgrade for the mining laser? [Question]

According to the catalogue, the best stats possible for the x-class mining laser upgrades are:

Fuel Efficiency: 25% Overheat Downtime: 25% Mining Speed: 20% Heat Dispersion: 55%

However, I have opened around 400-500 x-class upgrades and this is the best combination I’ve seen. For some reason, whenever fuel efficiency and heat dispersion are maxed out, the other two stats are at most 8% or so. The only times I have seen mining speed at 20% for example is when it was the only stat present. Has anyone else min-maxing their gear run into this issue?

New settlement questions [Question]

So with the new settlement update u can have 4 settlements. My old one was a B tier, but using around 20 settlement charts on mostly paradise worlds, i only ever got C tier with really negative maintenance costs and bad traits. I ended up settling for best i could find at 80k profit and 270k maintenance costs. Is this normal? Do u just have to build it up over time or am i just that unlucky or doing it wrong? In docked you can have gyro for the cursor in the menu. No gyro aiming.

I handheld you can have gyro aiming but not in menus.

Scared of the game? [Discussion]

So this might sound a little strange, this game gives me moments of dread. (dread might not be the right word but neither is anxiety) Context: virtual reality doesn’t make me dizzy, but it makes me feel like I’m actually traveling in a different dimension and it messes me up. I love this game. I’ve been playing for about 15 hours and I can’t stop however certain parts of this game (like when I can’t get into a space station right away and i’m just floating, the atlas stations, etc) give me so much anxiety. But not like anxiety or dread just like…. off??? idk how to explain it! am I alone in this???

Weird issue with cloud saves [Bug]

Hoping this is the best place to ask this. I have NMS on my PC and also on my Switch 2 for portability. But for some reason it’s not downloading the cloud saves on the Switch, saying that it’s an outdated version? This is after checking for updates on Switch and a full reinstall. I’m not on any beta program on Steam. So both should be on the same version but the Switch seems to be slightly behind somehow. Is it something that I can fix or is it waiting for an update to be pushed?

A Swiftly Tilting Planet [Screenshot]

So a few of my planets are on a tilt. I don't really understand the WHY of this, but it's kind of annoying and makes no gravitational sense. So, I'm assuming it's a known bug perhaps? Why would a planet be on this type of tilt? I should be gravitationally aligned to the surface of the planet and everything would be on the same plane... right? Or am I overanalysing this?

Autophage camps - am I going mad? [Question]

I've googled and run around on several dissonant planets - so far... diddly.

Am I loosing my mind or is there something Im missing about the autophage camps and locating them? Before the quest, I'd take out the sentinels that drop sails - I think - sometimes they'd drop a thing that lets me scan for a camp - camp being those abandoned ones that has a multitool.

I've now done the autophage questline - and I just cant seem to repeat the process? The sentinels drop sails or echo locators - but echo locators reveal ships right? Polyphonic core scans just sort of show me around to random points of interest with hidden autophage - but am specifically looking for the multi tool camps.

What am I missing ? And on a scale of 1-10 how super obvious is it? Because I feel like its one of those "Oh.... d'uh" kind of things.

First Dreadnaught Defeat [Information]

I’m not much of a gamer (54y) and only 40h on the PS5VR, but my 13y daughter who reads this thread told me what to do and when to re-power my shields, and I just defeated a big red dreadnaught pirate ship and I gotta tell you, I feel like Han Friggin’ Solo right now!! I’ve been loving this game. Just curious how you guys spend your time and if I’m missing anything the game has to offer!

What I’ve kind of done so far:

Ship hunting, found a living ship, sentinel ship, built my own ship, maxed them out, rp’d as a pirate, nexus missions, expanding the base, max out multi-tool/exo suit, working on maxing out freighter, trading, searching for paradise planets.

brand new player, having a great time but woefully confused [Question]

im slowly making my way through the main questline. right now im not much further than having discovered the anomaly. i randomly found a crappy c-class freighter which i now own after defending from pirates. no clue what it is really is or what purpose it serves for me, other than more room to store the things i find. ive spent a lot of time flying between star systems looking for a nice planet to settle on.

in my search i learned about 'paradise planets', that were more likely to be found in a galaxy called eissentem? this is where my confusion starts. how can it be that everyone recognises this place? i thought the map was huge. plus, wont there only be a handful of planets in each system?

while im writing this, these are also a handful of things im unsure about:

-sometimes i find crates that require an atlas pass to open. what are they, and where do i find them?

-spaceships. i found one broken down near the beginning of the game (far too damaged to repair, i left it behind) and usually find others docked in space stations. they all seem wildly expensive for pretty average stats (about 6 million, from what ive seen), so im wondering whether there is something i should be doing to rake in huge amounts of money? right now most of my cash comes from whatever i find on the surface of planets, which is a pretty inconsistent and luck based way of earning anything.

-i saw a place in a space station where i can assemble a new spaceship, but i saw no option to craft or buy the individual parts you assemble them with. where do i get ship parts from? is this easier than buying a ship?

-i also saw a few people in the anomaly playing as robots, but i dont see it as a race i can choose in the character creator. how do i be a robot?

-i keep getting transponders from pirate ships i kill. they have a decent sell value, but also mention...

Need help: Atlantid Drive [Question]

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm completely stuck trying to get the Atlantid Drive.

I've finished the entire Autophage questline (built the staff, presented it, spoke to Nada, etc.). I'm also at the end of the main story quests, where the Atlas Path and Artemis Path are basically infinite/repeatable missions. Despite all this, I never received the blueprint for the drive and can't find it anywhere.

For context, these are my only remaining active side missions: Exploration Guide Community Research Industrial Surveying Collecting Fossils Base Computer Archives The Settlers Track a Black Hole

I feel like I've hit a wall. Am I missing a hidden step, or could my save be bugged? Any advice on what to try next would be greatly appreciated.

The constant evolution of this game is mind blowing [Discussion]

I was just playing around with my new settlements, I now have 4 and even put one on a planet with constant gravity storms(its pretty fun actually) and I was thinking of how far the game has come from when it was first released. But then I went to the space station and was looking around. Noticed the spot where the fossil vendor now dwells and went to the opposite side where there is a panel with an X on it. Next to that is a door way size panel with an X on it. Up 2 flights of stairs from there are 4 more vendor sized panels. So that means there are 5 vendor panels and 2 doorway sized panels(that could lead to who knows what) just in preparation for future content. We have come so far, and I am guessing there is still a long way to go. I can't even imagine where the game will be in another 5 years. I just wanted to express my admiration to Hello Games for the constant evolution and love and care of this awesome game. That's all.

After hours searching for the perfect spot and untold tens of hours spent building, I was really hoping that somebody would come along and ruin my backdrop by building on top of my archive 💁‍♂️ I haven't shared glyphs for my bases for years and this is precisely why, I wish HG would finally give players the power to stop this crap from happening - what's the point of such a great community-minded feature as building when trolls can come along and ruin it just as easily as the majority who want to visit respectfully? I miss portal interference 😮‍💨

Game Crashing When Scanning [Question]

I recently came back to the game after a few months break, and it runs fine 80% of the time. No lag, decent frame rate, good graphics. However, on certain planets, when I try to scan things, the game crashes. I don't remember having this problem when I started playing last year. Any idea what's causing it?

Freighter Base refuses to load on switch 2 [Bug]

I've tried restarting, teleporting, warping and it works like 10 percent of the time, warping with the freighter seems to be the most reliable but even then only like 50 percent of my base is visible. Anyone else having these issues on switch 2? I'm wondering if a smaller freighter might work better for rendering?

Fleet command Rooms vs. Fleet command Stations [Question]

Hello all! Newcomer to NMS about 480 hrs. in. My question is this: When trying to install a Fleet Command Room on my Freighter it ( visually at least ) looks and says it's simply a Fleet command Station. Is this a bug or am I missing something. Needing this so I can send out more than 5 frigates at a time or is the limit only 5 missions per day? Very confused!

Switch 2 outdated ?? [Question]

Hey guys, I just purchased No Man's Sky for my Switch 2 sadly full price cuz I wanted to support, I am having a really good time but I wanted to play with my husband but it was giving me an error saying version mismatch, he was playing on Steam Deck.

So I transferred my world using cross saves functionality to PlayStation 5 to see if the error persisted, there were no issues. Now I want to play again on my switch but now I cannot play my world because it just happens that the switch 2 version is not on par with other consoles and I really don't like that and I paid 60 for this game, what's going on.

This is not Switch 1, it's the new Switch 2 version.

Griefers [Bug]

I just got my entire screen turned white after getting a living ship on a planet I've never been on. Had to use a portal to get here. Sentinel Interceptors not working at all??? [Bug]

So for some reason I cannot for the life of me get Sentinel Interceptors to spawn in. I'm pissing off the Sentinels on the ground and then getting in my starship, but it never summons in Interceptors like it should. What could possibly be happening to cause this, and can I mitigate it somehow?

Returned to the game after a long time. A few basic questions. [Question]

If you build a base and recruit people for stations is it possible to have other npcs to follow you around, helping you?

I built in the first paradise world, starting star system cause i found an Archive near the sea, tried to connect it underground so i can build a road later but ended up in water. Is there a road option or just "floors".

At which point you get access to vehicles ?

Are all these other npc spaceships moving in groups or npcs doing business actively affecting economy or just cosmetic ?

Is the planet's biome changing if if you keep exploring? I mean if it's a desert with big rocks it stays that way but is there any chance you'll see a weird formation, or huge mountain (Olympus mons) ? Like Minecraft which keeps changing.

Wait, so.. Is the switch 2 upgrade patch out already?? Or am I still seeing switch 1 graphics? [Question]

I excitedly bought the game for switch 2 after watching some "no mans sky in 2025" reviews. The game looks pretty damn amazing, and while I know the switch 2 isn't equal to a ps5 or series x, I was assuming it would look relatively similar. I've been playing for a few hours (chose the normal mode, very new to this game) and thought to myself, "man, this is probably gonna look great once they release the switch 2 update. Can't wait for the better looking visuals!"

But then I decided to look up when the update comes out, and.. It seems like it already is? People are talking about the game having received an update already. My game says" switch 2 version." and when I go to the nms switch 2 upgrade page on the eshop, it shows I've already downloaded it. So was that it? Or will there be a.. Better visual update coming later? I can live with it if not, but so far I find it hard to believe that was much of an upgrade.. Maybe I need to see more areas than just the starting one.

Also my game crashed just now and idk if it autosaves or not loooool

Find a planet with Vile Brood Detected.,Then use your analysis visor to find the Juicy Grub, pick it up (don't shoot it, pick it up). In your inventory crush the grub (I press E) . Boss will appear, kill and find more grubs. Repeat and get the vile brood helmets.

New and looking for a little bit of guidance [Question]

Hey everyone, I' m new to the game (

I tried looking for some information but I'm walking a thin line between figuring things out for myself but also not being completely clueless and not getting too many things spoiled and I guess I could use a little more clarity. Some of the information I find online no longer seems to be applicable as they seem to apply to older patches (or I'm guessing since the experience in those threads does not match with my own.)

I'll open with the biggest question I have. I get that at heart this is an exploration game but the exploration feels a bit... empty? After walking on a planet's surface for about fifteen to twenty minutes I feel like I have more or less seen the gist of it. I dived into caves a couple of times and while they look cool I feel like there is something about exploration I'm missing. It feels like there's just no reward, all the points of interest are already marked on the visor (I think that's what it's called?) so whenever I dive into a cave or something similar I go in knowing I'm not going to find anything of interest. Walking from point A to be B on the visor however doesn't feel overly interesting. Is there some deeper meaning to exploration that I'm missing? While I like the environment and ambience I do like to have the feeling of walking around thinking "Maybe I'm going to find something amazing." and I don't really have that feeling right now.

Then I have a couple of smaller questions I suppose, things I don't understand. I bought a map from a Gek merchant on a Space Station for Ancient Ruins twice but having arrived there, there were like 6 steel bars sticking out of the ground and that was pretty much it. I used the mining tool to dig around them expecting to find something interesting, but no dice. On top of it however I found an orb which I can best describe as the orb of PAIN. Can’t get my exo suit tech out of the floor [Question]

I had an exosuit terminal in my first capital ship. 3/4 through the quest the exosuit tech gives you, I stumbled across a better capital ship and switched ships. I went and unlocked the exosuit station at the anomaly. Now my exosuit technician is glitched into the floor. Is there any way to fix this? I am long passed being able to reload a prior save. Switch 2 - LFG (to fix my broken save) [Question]

Hi!

My switch 2 save is cooked, it crashes 2 seconds after load. As I understand it if I join a multiplayer session I can resolve this situation without waiting for Nintendo to (finally) approve a new patch which might or might not fix it.

To that end, does anyone with a NMS S2 copy mind lending me a hand? I really don’t want to give up on my save of 14 ish hours.

What's the story you created for your Traveller ? [Discussion]

For instance, my Permadeath character is a galaxy hopper, bound to see if this so called Paradise Galaxy exists (Eissentam). He got stuck for a while in Calypso (I did all the storyline there), he has suffered (lost both legs) but made it out, all he wants now is a nice place somewhere on a welcoming planet to rest and fish. He has jumped through four galaxy core already, currently repairing stuff to go through another one. Toughest Gek on the Universe.

Hunting for player bases [Information]

So in all my hundreds of hours playing, I've never come across another players base, so I thought I'd go and look for some. I thought perhaps i might be more likely to find some nearer the galactic core, and so starting from wherever I was, about 80000 ly from the core, off I set.

Quite soon I found I was following another player called Paul, which surprised me, since I would have assumed that routes to the core would be pretty random. Many of the systems I entered were discovered by him, though there were a few discovered by other players. And most still virgin. But after some hundreds of warps, I reached the core, having come across zero player bases, en route, though I left a few scattered about for others. Only at the final system did I find a couple, one of which was really quite extensive and pretty cool with ruins and a waterfall (JBNave).

Then later, in a different save, I came across a portal, as you do, and decided to go somewhere. In this save I only had two glyphs, having not been through the storyline, so I entered then randomly and behold, I appeared in a system called Abba Abba Abba! (discovered 8y ago by Leisure Addicts) and here there were many bases, how come I have no idea, but perhaps put together by a group of friends.

Some were quite good (Glyph temple), another was interestingly built on top of a trading station (didn't quite work), one was now buried deep underground, one had a fungal mould farm in the basement (what on earth would you want so much fungal mould for?), and another an old cobalt farm with 20000 cobalt should anyone want it.

It was quite a fun thing to find.

I just griefed myself [Discussion]

So I decided to finally redo my freighter base, which I've been meaning to do for a while. I went to my freighter, teleported to the bridge, and immediately just hit reset. Then I deleted the couple rooms to get ready to make a wide open kind of layout, but I realized that I didn't have all the rooms unlocked that I needed. So I thought, hey I got a bunch of salvaged frigate modules, I'll just go research the rooms I need.

I had them all stored in one of the storage containers.

Right when I realized this, I reloaded the earliest save point I could, but it was too late. My salvaged frigate modules, thousands of raw resources, crafting materials, technologies, etc that I had stored were all gone.

To make matters worse, I had been refining living slime at the time, and I had around 3000 living slime / runaway mold in my personal refiner when I reloaded the save. All of that disappeared, too

I just started maybe 10 hours ago and ik this game is very vast and you can do whatever you want but am i doing it right? I followed the main quest until i was supposed to go to the strangers coordinates, and JUST found a vehicle trade station, already found the perfect paradise planet. Are squadrons useless? [Question]

I feel like the squadron in nms is pretty useless in combat, I haven't seen them do anything useful and sometimes they even get in the way. The only use I've found is leeching their shields when mine is low but other than that I feel they do almost nothing even though I have 4 S-clase fighters iny squadron. So the first part of my question is, are they actually useless when talking about damage?

The second part of my question is then i my S class fighter squadron is useless in combat and I only use them for leeching shields could I simply replace them all with something weaker but that I like more aesthetically?

What next? [Question]

WARNING: THIS WILL LIKELY CONTAIN SPOILERS

I am unfortunately very extrinsically motivated, and I've just built the final drive upgrade and reached the purple star systems in the second galaxy, and now I don't know what to do beyond waiting for the next expedition. I don't feel a drive to get the best freighter, or to build my own ship, and I've never been one for base building in this game, preferring the freighter base.

Are there other tasks I can attempt, or am I just kind of forced to accept my fate? I could attempt a permadeath run, but the only times I died in this playthrough were from bugs, so I'm hesitant to attempt that.

I do kind of want to get the settlements in the black, but with nothing to do while I wait for buildings, that seems unlikely

Thanks folks, and I hope this doesn't come off as "there's nothing to do in this game", because I had a ton of fun and I can't wait for the next expedition (and the old ones to come back again!)

16/16 main story mission issue [Question]

Hi there just getting back into this game after a long time being off. I am trying to finally complete the story missions and am having an issue. I am on the last mission of “Master the Portal Network” and I am supposed to activate the portal but anytime I search for it on the galaxy map it says it’s in a different system.

The question is, if it’s in a different system, why does the mission show up on this space station that is in the same (Euclid) galaxy?

Am I better off starting a new save to complete it? I’ve already completed everything else in the game other than the autophage stuff.

Hello Games, A Modest Proposal for a New System to Resolve Settlement Conflicts..."Two Gek Enter, One Gek Leaves" [Suggestion]

Hello Games says they want us to determine our settlement's moral stances, so why not let us go all the way and construct our own Thunderdome at settlements to resolve conflicts. Just a few weeks ago did this game clicked to me [Screenshot]

I had this game since 2023 and haven't committed to play to it. Just last month I had the time to play the tutorial missions ang I am loving it!

Had been to three galaxies, countless of systems, freighters and starships, I had named my main ships only as "LoomMkr" and which ever change of starship I made I appended a roman numeral to it. In the picture is LoomMkr XI.

Any main base I made is named Poisson. the latest iteration in Poisson IV.

Kudos to the developers of the game!

NMS on Switch 2 is so, so good. [Discussion]

I had the Switch 1 version and while it was serviceable, it was definitely not the ideal way to play. Now, with the Switch 2 version, we have all updates, crossplay, and cross save. I've been playing the game since around 2020 on PS5, and now I can play my main save wherever I go. I couldn't be happier with it, thank you Hello Games. :)

Difference in 3rd person zoom?? [Question]

So what's up with the zooming in 3rd person? How can I change it?
In the first picture (playthrough movie on YT) it is clearly visibly more zoomed out than it is on my own game...

Is this a resolution thing (first picture is 2560x1440p, 2nd pic is 3440x1440p)? Both my settings and the settings from the YT movie are the same except for resolution because he showed his settings.

Wiring tutorial stuck (possible bug) [Bug]

So i just started playing No Mans Sky and was following the tutorial but once i reached the part about laying out wires between electrical components it just doesn't continue.

Can't edit or delete base parts [Bug]

I made a low orbit base last week on PS4. Used the cross save feature to play on an Xbox series x at my friends house and now I can't edit or delete pre-existing base parts on either console. The base is persistent and I can add new parts, but the short range teleporters overshoot me outside the base and I have no way of getting inside the interior structures.

I've tried saving and closing the game. I've saved and restarted the console. Nothing works. Any advice?

Autophagous Base Progress Bug ⚠️⚠️⚠️❌❌❌ [Bug]

I already had my base up to "A" class, but there were no inhabitants in the village❌, so I thought about resigning from the position and taking it back. After this, it bugged and no longer let me load the save point I made before. I became the base leader again and RETURNED TO the lowest CLASS💀💀💀. All the walls also became invisible, and everything I had upgraded was lost. Aside from this, my administrator terminal no longer appears. Several hours of gameplay and many resources were lost due to this bug. Now, this base, which I already had in "A" class, dropped to a lower class and is unusable. Aside from this, the name disappeared, along with all its data.‼️

I've always been curious about them and I'm DYING to explore one... but I'm super super afraid of deep see stuff, specifically big things the water. Like... Game crashing when I fly down to settlement [Question]

Every time I fly down to my settlement my game crashes about 2 seconds away from it. Freezes for around 20-30 seconds, screen flickers then the game closes. Anyone know why? (On ps5 using a ps4 disk if that helps)

Hi NMS dev team of you are listening to this subreddit,

Could you please make it so that we can unlock old expedition rewards for expeditions we have missed?

I have been a gamer for decades now and am the sort of person who fills in game items storage in games like Skyrim, oblivion etc to the point the games nearly crash when I open them.

I love nothing more that to complete every quest in a game, collect all items cosmetic or other.

But I have come undone with NMS as there is a whole swave of things that are locked to me because I started playing later in to the games lifecycle.

It's rememiscent of missing oaks letter in pokemon pearl or diamond and again with it's remakes because I didn't have the game during the weeks the event was on.

There are cool hats, back packs, ships etc I cannot access or even see aside from the store image and it's ruining the vibe.

I am not suggesting that they just get given to us maybe you could tie in in game records or milestones to a free unlock of a single expedition rewards or tier.

But please it's been long enough now staring at greyed out icons I just need to get those sweet sweet loots.

I finally found one 🌴 [Screenshot]

Finally found a paradise planet with no basically no sentinel activity and very mild weather. If you happen to find it, you’ll notice the planet’s name is Rob. Why you might ask? Because it’s hilarious to me when non-human things have regular human names, like animals. This apparently extends to planets in NMS because naming it Rob had me laughing to myself.

Hopefully I’ll be back soon. I just ended up in the Hilbert Dimension after resetting the simulation so might be awhile haha 😅

How do I move my base? [Question]

So I have my initial base on the initial planet I started on.

That said I have now found my paradise planet and have started a new base there.

I want to destroy my original base and move all my stuff to the new one.

I know I can take build new stuff and transfer my workers.

I know I can delete bits of my base with ease.

What I don’t know is how I can move my storage containers without losing everything.

I have 5 of my 10 in place already and they are mostly full.

How do I move everything over to the new base without messing everything over ?

Part of the issue is that my original base is not power self sufficient and it’s in a fairly hostile planet weather wise.

I know half the fun is losing everything and starting over again. But after experiencing that with my exo-suit once already I really don’t want to have to start from square one again.

1st ever enemies on planet, how? [Video]

For context I’m a new player (30 hours), and played with friend for my FIRST time, and had sentinel waves, and huge mechs spawed in on us out of literally nowhere.For context, my mineral planet has NO life forms, and NO fauna/plants. Did they follow my friend’s trail into my atmosphere?

Gaming Laptop? [Question]

Hey all so I normally play on Xbox Series S, as my laptop is super old- But i’m looking to maybe upgrade the laptop- anyone here ever play on a “gaming laptop “? honestly, I didn’t even know that was a thing until I went into Best Buy yesterday and the kid working there said that there are laptops that I could run PCVR games on. Any tips for permadeath mode? [Question]

I have a few hundred hours in NMS but have never played permadeath, I am thinking of creating a permadeath save with every setting set to the most difficult options (Universe population is Standard as I want to play through the story) My main aim is going to be to complete the story, get an S class pirate freighter without re-loading save and get an S class settlement without re-loading saves.

Does anyone have any tips for me before I begin this journey? (Also someone pick a name for my character, I like roleplaying as my character in nms and the name will help a lot!)

Mouse lag issues (PC) [Question]

I started playing again after a few years and noticed that the reason I dropped the game is still there. When playing with vsync on specifically once in a while, especially in atlas stations, my mouse becomes so smoothed that it almost feels like piloting exocrafts in first person. This can be minor but sometimes it becomes so horrendous that I can move my mouse and count two to three seconds before anything actually happens and this makes the camera feel really weighty. It usually resolves itself leaving and going somewhere else but because it appears at random it's really annoying.

Anyone else ever get this issue? Btw. I'm relatively sure it's not my hardware because I didn't notice any changes in utilisation or fps when the lag appears

I can't not install the game anymore in my ps5 [Bug]

I was trying to play with a friend and I send him my coordinates but he say that the versions are different, I try to see if the game haven't update for my and when I check the updates a something when wrong message pop up, I just think that was a simple error with my internet and delete the game to re install it but now when I try to install it this message pop up and don't let me just install the game

hyaline brain [Bug]

i’ve tried everything to make this work, i found a really cool ship and have tried for hours to get it to work, idk why this hasn’t been fixed yet since i’ve seen its been a problem for years? i’ve tried warping to different galaxies, splitting the brains and only trying one, since i have multiple, i put them in my freighter, not sure if it’s this and you can only really have one at a time for it to work?? i’ve also gotten rid of all missions, i do have the other materials needed and have gotten rid of the blockages, i really don’t know what else to do, this is so stupid tbh , really souring my experience after i’ve been loving the game, if possible would anyone be open to trade for one? i just don’t have the strength to keep on trying with it. i’d seen it was problem with korvax monoliths but i went to a vykeen monolith and that didn’t work? idk what to even do

This has been in one of my settlements for a couple days now.

I was expecting some kind of monster to spawn or something but nothing has happened and the mission is still there.

Batteries diminishing return? [Question]

Yo, does batteries have a sort of diminishing return? I just set up 16 solar panels with 8 batteries to 8 gaz extractor, and they stop charging around 40 instate of 50, am I doing something wrong?

I know about the extractor diminishing return, but I didn't eared of something similar for the batteries^^

No Man's sky keeps crashing [Bug]

I bought No man's sky on steam two weeks ago, and I am looking for some advice on how to get the game to work. So far, I've verified the file integrity, uninstalled/reinstalled and lowered the graphics settings. I have a pretty good computer an Alien 51, so I don't think it's a graphics issue. I can get as far as selecting play and hitting normal, I get to fly through the stars for a few minutes then it inevitably crashes. If anyone experienced issue before I wound appreciate some insight.

Anyone else losing items when they exit the game? [Bug]

Ever since the Beacon update(s) anything that’s left in the refiner, nutrient processor, feeder, and livestock unit disappear when the game is closed.

Booted up the game after the first Beacon update and every feeder on every one of my bases was empty. I thought it was weird. After making tons of food pellets, I refilled every automatic feeder, and closed the game for the day. When I next logged on everything was gone again. Anything left in the refiner was gone as well. I’m playing on the PS5 Pro.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Can't teleport between Outlaw Stations – "Clearance Not Granted" [Question]

I can't teleport from one Outlaw station to another. Every time I try, it says: "Clearance Not Granted."

I've already tried restarting the game, but the issue persists. None of the Outlaw stations I'm trying to reach are abandoned, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I'm wondering if it could be related to an active mission that's somehow conflicting with the teleportation system.

Dans ma sauvegarde j’ai une mission principale buger la 16/16 où on doit trouver un portail avec de hiéroglyphes puis parler à l’atlas j’avais trouvé le portail mais je n’avais pas les ressources pour les hiéroglyphes. Help on space station [Bug]

So I am completely new to this game and currently running trough the missions, however the space station seemed to have spawned in a ring around the planet and that seems to bring a heap off issues with it. I am not able to reach the trade terminal as I just appear to walk upwards on a invisible stair in any angle I try to go at it from. Anyone experienced this before? Am I just forced to start over here?

Yet another reason why I love this game [Discussion]

So I was the new guy who's mind was absolutely blown a few weeks ago by No Man's Sky. It still... The scale hurts my brain to think about. Sure I've had a few bugs since then but they have been all hysterical. Reload last auto save and off you go. It's great.

ANYWAY I play helldivers 2 and the main difference between NMS and Helldivers 2 (other than the obvious) is the feeling of pressure to play. NMS has zero pressure to play. Don't have time? No worries. The galaxy will still be here for you when you have a little bit of free time. NMS is like that friend you have that if you cancel on him he's totally fine with it and understands that you have a busy life or a family and kids.

Helldivers 2, even though I DO love it, there is that constant push to get you to play. THE GALAXY IS IN DANGER! DROP! DROP! DROP! Before I get ripped to shreds I'm going to say that I get it. Arrowhead needs that player stream to drive revenue and pay their people. I'm all for that but the way NMS and Arrowhead go about getting people to play... it is so drastically different that NMS is just a breath of fresh air.

NMS hook is exploration and experiencing new planets and animals and fauna. For example I found a wingless dragon that I immediately adopted as my companion. I ride on top of its head. It's amazing. We are besties 4 ever and he'll be waiting for me when I have time to play again. No worries.

Helldivers 2 hook is "IF YOU DONT PLAY WE ALL WILL DIE!"

That's one of the main reasons I absolutely adore No Man's Sky. No pressure to do anything. You can just stand and watch the sunset on some random planet if you want to. Your just a guy in an enormous universe doing your own thing. It's great.

Just an observation. Food for though ya know.

Warped to this system and saw this freighter. Thought "Oooh, I wouldn't mind owning that one". But I screwed up the battle and hit a bunch of friendlies, so reloaded and warped in again. This time was the charm. Did the battle clean, and this beauty was S class. Of course, I swapped my little S class system freighter without hesitation.

I try to land on an extreme planet, in the middle of an extreme storm, and have to buzz around because the planet is pretty much vertical. Ping my destination... 600 u away. Run in that direction. Now I'm 680 u from the destination. Turn, run, turn, run, up steep cliffs, down into chasms and a nest of hazardous plants... 20 minutes. Only to find the destination 30 u from my ship.

Trace of metal help [Question]

Ok so, since I have started playing, all I have wanted to do really is interact with the Autophage, and my good friend who got me on the game told me that I need to complete “A Trace of Metal” to get access to them. I have looked it up a thousand times and I’ve done all the warping away and back but for some reason I can’t get it to activate. I have done all of the main story and the ATLAS missions as well as all of my base missions and gotten my settlement to the point where it is getting out of debt (when I looked up if it’s needs to be completely out of debt, everything I saw said no). So I have no clue what to do.

Why am i not allowed to build an overseer building? [Question]

I have tried to claim settlements on 2 different paradise planets and both times the game hasn’t started the construction for the overseer’s building. They would have been my 3rd settlement in total. I can still teleport to my settlement I just can’t make any decisions or upgrade buildings.

Returning player [Question]

Hey guys. I played NMS back on the day 1 release for the Xbox. I cannot say for sure, but I played quite a bit, about 6 to 8 weeks pretty hardcore. Honestly, I don't remember anything about how I did things, but I got it done. Back then the size and scope of the game and being unexplored I had a "Never going to get to center" attitude, and loved it.

I am coming back in the next couple days. I have gotten myself a Switch 2 and am very excited to start agin on this game. Playing multiplayer with others is not high on my list of things to do, I got very used to that in the original version. But I hope to get to that point sometime.

I guess my big worry now is looking at Reddit on this game, it has changed so much! Frigates you say??? Colonies that you run? :You can tame any creature you see? What kind of black magic is all of this?!? A mode where you die once and your save is gone, and people still make it to the center? WTF

I remember this game being challenging for me back in the day trying to figure it out, and now I am worried about all this new parts of gameplay.

Does the game still do a decent job of teaching the player on what to do to be moving forward? Or has it turned into a "Google it" type of game at every turn?

Any advice or just "calm the hell down, you will be fine" is pretty much what I am looking for here.

How do you spend your time when you hit "that point" in the game? [Question]

I've been in and out of NMS for many years now. It's usually been between systems so I have a little ritual of picking up the game, playing until I have all the core stuff done (bases, freighter, s-class ship, research, etc.) This usually fills me up on the game and I put it down for a long time and carry on.

Well, thanks to finally getting back to PC and having a stable cloud save, I find myself in a position I haven't been in before. I have, pretty much, everything I could want in the game. I could grind it out for an S class freighter, or look at maximizing my storage slots, but that all seems a bit unnecessary as I have no real issue with already having or quickly finding materials when I need them.

I want to play some more, I just don't know what to do? I suppose I could aimlessly fly around the galaxy and see different generated planets, but is that it? Maybe I should do expeditions?

Please help me [Question]

Bought the game yesterday on sale and I don't know if it was a mistake. I started 2 files both on relaxed. After I found the destroyed ship on both worlds it started a weather event (?) or so idk. Radioactive rain or so. It said I should find shelter but my screen turned green really quickly so didn't find anything. that really frustrated me on both tries so I deleted it of my Switch lol. I don't want to waste 20 € so my question is what am I supposed to do when there is nothing nearby?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with this game. [Discussion]

I picked this game up the other day and put about 10 hours in so far mostly just exploring planets and scanning fauna to get nanites but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the games systems and am a bit lost on what to do moving foward.

I know it's a sandbox game and I should set my own goals etc but that's the issue.. I don't know what to do.

I really want to like this game, it fits that space exploration hunger I have been wanting from a game.

Very quick question about the stability of the game [Console] [Is this Game stable?]

Is the Console version of this game stable?...
Heres a bit of an info dump...
I have a profile thats about 17 hours in....
I have been getting teleported randomly.. unprovoked during missions...or whilst building

After building a base for the past several hours...grinded a bunch and was going to go to bed after completing a mission...I decided to jump into one more
we rush over to a Fire hazard planet...We drop down..I walk through the sealed doors after we break it...
I get teleported to an underground cavern...trapped inside of a BioDome while I take multiple stacking Heat damage ticks...Mind you I have 2 S class thermal protection upgrades on
...I then die and get teleported into my ship..where my shields are already broken and I have to relog or avoid losing my ship as well....
Then i get teleported back to the Nexus...That is no longer in that Galaxy...Losing everything in my inventory

So i do ask again...is this game stable?
Is it worth spending more time in...when ..unbeknownst to me...God or any higher power...On the whim of rogue code...Shall I be Whisked away and ricocheted into oblivion with Artemis?...

Don't get me wrong, I still think this is one if not the best game community I've ever seen (least toxic at least), but I really thought it would be a lot of space loving adventurers just exploring the galaxies and helping stranded korvax like the folks over at /nomanshigh. I know a lot of it is sarcasm and there were some interesting views but a lot of people are just like space racists, which I guess is cooler than regular racists (see Warhammer) but still, how can you hate tiny frog people that say they just wanna be your friends? (With exceptions such as the weird base overseer regarding the cook).

Help bug with mission help me porfa [Bug]

I got the mission a trace of metal but I go to the settlement that marks me with the same name but the event does not happen and the mission does not progress. The problem is that on the galactic map it shows me that a trace of metal is a mission on another star and there I did not have a settlement. I tried to put a settlement to see if the event happened there but nothing. The event is still stuck and the sentinels do not attack my settlement and I cannot advance and there is no reset button for the mission so I know that what to do to fix it I play with steam so I hope you can help me

Owning flyable bigger ships - a possible update idea [Suggestion]

My idea is being able to own a slightly bigger ship (ranging from double the size of the biggest current ship size to about a quarter the size of a frigate), which is specifically classed as some kind of larger ship, in order to distinguish it from the rest.

It could be a lot slower, take more hyperdrive fuel, more launch fuel, but have way more protection with a far stronger shield and way more inventory.

The central part of my idea is the ship having a small or medium size customizable interior, almost like the ships in starfield or star citizen. Instead of getting in and out of the ship the normal way, there would be an actual door or ramp that opens only when you land.

In order to accommodate these larger ships, there could be a larger size landing pad added to the buildables, but then for space stations, they could actually add a side dock which you can land in that has a teleporter into the actual station interior.

Anyways, I feel like it would be a wonderful addition, and it’s something that could really add to the space pirate vibe haha, being able to have friends on your ship with you and have an interior, imagine if they even added a gunner’s seat in the back on some of those bigger ships!

Base has been uploaded so it should show up if not I've added the coordinates. There are several refiner's and a save beacon to keep reloading and harvesting all the nanites. New player here. I think I'm hooked, 9 hours in... I have some questions [Question]

I just got my first freighter by saving a civilian from pirates. C class but idc, it's free storage space, cuz I'm always out of storage. Anyways I'm figuring things mostly out, I'm at a fork in the game with what I can do so I have a list of questions for ya'll:

  1. I have the freighter now, so claimed damaged ships go in there. But when I claim a new ship, how do I set my Pillar Red starter Ship but as "Active" ship again. I lose access to my ships inventory for a moment cuz the newly claimed damaged ship becomes "Active.". Yes I know I can summon my ship to make it active but that wastes fuel. Any other way?

  2. I'm snagging a new exosuit inventory slot at every new system spacestation. Doing pretty good here. I have a hauler and starter ship I'd like to upgrade their inventory slots too... I'm dying for space... Where do I upgrade spaceship slots at space stations?

  3. My current main goal is to snag myself a cooler freighter, certainly better than C class. I read the wiki and it said 1st and 2nd ship are capped to 16 slots, 3rd will be "Capital" class so I plan to snag this ship for my 3rd. How do I input these system coordinates?

3 Travelers, 1 Space Station [Screenshot]

My settlement is under attack except it is not under attack [Discussion]

Before the beacon update I had to clear 4 drones, 2 corrupt drones and a walker ever time I went to my settlement. Since the Beacon update I haven't had a single attack on my settlement but the mission log keeps telling me to return because it's under attack. Even while I'm there it's telling me "The Sentinel Alert Level is High" and to teleport to the settlement to defend it from attack. It doesn't affect gameplay so far as I can tell. The only attacks the settlement experiences are from pirates.

Dreadnought hunting tips [Question]

Hello fellow travelers, I've got a few questions surrounding the dreadnought. I'm seeing a lot of mixed signals, and old ones, and I'm curious which ones are accurate these days, as I'm looking to hunt down an s class.

I'm seeing different methods of taking it down, either shooting down it's engines and turrets, or going through the trenches, which one is the best?

I'm also seeing a lot of different methods about how to best farm for an s class. Some saying to go to pirate systems, others say 3 star systems are best. What would be the easiest way with the highest probability?

And lastly are they guaranteed to be free after defeating them? I've never gotten a dreadnought before so this would be nice to know in case I need to have enough credits ready haha

Fix Ship vs Ship combat [Discussion]

It's been long overdue, we've had many great major updates to the game but the ship combat when it comes to fighting AI is awful. It's either circle simulator while AI does 180 turns at full speed, rinse and repeat(literally no other mechanic than this) or holding S to auto lock which is basically the same thing(circles).

I've been wanting to come back to the game but each time I see the updates don't include ship vs ship changes, fixes or reworks I don't bother to play anymore. I've played the game since 2016(off and on) when it had a rough launch.

I think majority of the player base can agree the ship combat still needs a rework. And before people that don't agree with this and say "The game is focused more on exploration rather than combat", I get that but there's nothing wrong with improving/fixing a feature we have in the game that currently lacks with the people that enjoy both parts of the game(Combat and Exploration). There are missions and events that I dread doing simply because it's so awful to do.

This game is amazing and has come a long way. The dev team is amazing and truly trustworthy people that care for the game AND the player base(it's so rare nowadays but so greatly appreciated by gamers), they are truly something else. Keep up the great work HG!

My new autophage settlement is permanently under attack [Bug]

It permanently says that it’s under attack but whenever I get there there’s no attacking sentinels and even if I aggro some nearby it freezes the assault at wave 3 and goes no further. I’m getting no more construction requests and I really don’t want to lose the colony. Any advice?

Also there’s no sentinel pillars on the planet.

How to sell an unwanted starship? [Question]

Question

I have quite some starships by now, but most are salvaged wrecks, many don't even have a working drive.

Now I imagine I find the starship of my dreams somewhere, but have already the maximum ships i can have and have to trade in my current, quite good starship because I am already at the max number of slots. But I want to keep it and rather sell one of the other ones.

Finally figured out Multitool DPS [Screenshot]

My light bulb moment was discovering the key metric isn't finding the highest damage % in upgrades, but instead finding the highest increased fire rate % (or charging speed if it's a neutron cannon, as in this case).

This is the highest DPS I've ever achieved - even higher (by far) than on any ship I've had. It's a combination of good OC slot locations combined with lots of upgrade swapping to build up the charging speed. The 3 S upgrades average about 58% increased charging speed (one is at 60%).

I also discovered that at least in this case (thanks to the slots making a corner shape), I don't put the weapon itself in an OC slot - I leave those for the upgrades, with the weapon slotted in the nook they create on the grid, so everything touches.

Guild Overhauls anyone ? [Question]

I've had a great time with the game so far, like I followed it from the time it released till one or two years ago when I finally took the plunge. I've got only one complaints about the game after starting playing it seriously a few weeks ago, my only complaint so far are : The guilds and their missions.

I struggle to find Mercenary Guild stations, the game doesn't really telegraph that well imo or if it does then I'm more than happy to learn how.

The missions : Most Missions don't really feel like they belong to their guilds. They seem to be reused between all the guilds without as much as logic taken into account. More variety or more focused missions would be better, especially for the Mercenaries because honestly killing 11 animals isn't Mercenary work.

New player— how do I find this one Holo Terminus again? I lost a ship there [Question]

I have about 12 hours in the game at this point. My friend gifted me a beautiful S class ship, which I've been using for most of the main quest.

When I got to the part where I needed to find a Holo Terminus to contact Artemis, I just followed the red symbol until I got to one a couple of minutes away from my base.

I landed my ship near the tower, but still far enough away that I didn't want to walk back to it. When I went to summon it, I accidentally summoned the wrong ship. I was careless enough to think that it was no big deal-- after all, I could easily find this location again, right?

Wrong. I have been unable to find this Holo Terminus, and by extension, my best ship. I can't summon it because it's out of fuel, so my only chance to get it back is finding this specific Holo Terminus again.

I've been borrowing Artemis's ship (which I repaired) ever since.

Basically title. I own multiple settlements. There are no outstanding actions to be taken. I have warped many, many times, but just cannot receive the transmission. I don't want to retire on the settlements I already own and find a new one since it would be inconvenient to mark all of them out and return later.

Is anyone aware of a method to use the save editor to manually start the quest? If not, I will likely just skip out on the quest.

This is the buggiest game I have ever played. XD I love it though, just finished the storyline and I am still playing [Discussion]

Still, it baffles me the number of times I had a core game mechanic (or a important one at least) not working properly, searching about it just to find posts from 7, 5, 3 or even less the 1year ago saying "its a known issue since the game released", not to mention the graphical bugs and optimization.

This game reminds me of DarkSouls2, it has some glaring issues but still is a masterpiece.

If we ever get a sequel or a spiritual successor, I think my main wishes would be a more stable gameplay and more terrain/topology variety

Is the old expedition bug still happening? [Bug]

I play NMS PS4 version on a PS5. Last year they released an expedition (I think it was Adrift/13) rendered unplayable due to crashes. The game eventually crashed for good and displayed a sign congratulating me for finishing the expedition when I hadn't completed it even half of it. After that I simply stopped playing because of the crashes. Has anything been fixed? I haven't figured a way to upload my data from NMS-PS4 to Nms-PS5 either. Any news of tips?

A stranger gifted me a freighter-sized dino [Screenshot]

This game never fails to amaze me and I’m still only about 20 hours in.

Yesterday I came back after a short break because my PC was having some issues. When I loaded in, I spawned inside a space station of some sort and noticed a few players walking around, which immediately blew my mind since I had never encountered a real player before.

I walked up to one of them and started jumping as a way of saying hello. They jumped back and then a notification popped up saying they had gifted me an egg.

I’m playing this game completely blind, refusing to look anything up to avoid spoilers. So I had no idea pets were even a thing, let alone that they could lay eggs and be gifted to other players.

I went back to what I was doing and luckily found a lush planet in the same galaxy. After spending some time exploring and building a base, I decided it was time to hatch the egg.

The moment I clicked it my screen glitched a bit like I was stuck inside a wall, and I kinda was. A 47.5 meters, 1.7 tons dinosaur emerged from the egg (and it’s still a juvenile!!!!!). It’s so huge that when I click to summon it, the green hologram preview only shows its ankles.

I must have figured that there was something shady about a stranger handing over an egg out of nowhere, but I’m glad it happened as now I have a Shadow-of-the-Colossus-sized dino friend.

Unfortunately, I forgot to write down the player’s name. I just remember it was something like “Master___.” If by any chance you’re reading this: THANK YOU! When it reaches adulthood, I’ll make sure to gift it’s eggs so your legacy can live on :D

Is this a new update to derelict freighter missions? [Question]

I’ve done lots of them in the 400 hours I’ve played and everyone so far has been almost identical bar a slightly different layout once onboard.

Yesterday I did one and something has changed!

Along with the standard alien life forms there was now an additional alien presence who, I will admit, are bloody annoying little shits! Are these recent additions or is this just the first time I’ve encountered them?

First settlement issues [Question]

I’m trying to do get my first settlement and when I arrive at the quest location it is completely deserted. Not even a stray dog looking thing to be found. No one to ask if they need help. No option to change it to my current system. Nothing. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to just wait and pray that it’s a bug that needs to be fixed?

Moving from PS4 to PS5 breaks multiplayer?? [Question]

I recently upgraded to PS5. The first time I got on a multiplayer session with my friend we can join the same party and have voice chat...but we couldn't see each other. We'd be on the same planet at the same location and not see each other. Same thing when we went to the Anomaly.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Can someone please help me? "Location Interference" when using a settlement chart. [Question]

As stated in the title. I'm having trouble finding a settlement on this planet. I always get the "location Interference" error when i use a settlement chart or a Sentinel boundary map. Although, I have been able to find sentinel towers on the planet (see last picture for S class Royal found at every tower!!!) which leads me to believe that settlements may exist as well. I've waisted a lot of time looking around to no avail... And this planet is really rare (I spent almost 24 hours looking for an abandoned paradise planet with dissonance and water) so I don't want to abandon it. Which leads me to my question.

Are there any mods or hacks that would reveal points of interest on planets? I usually don't use cheats but I'm desperate to have a settlement here! Alternatively, if there are any hackers or moders willing to help, that would be much appreciated!

NMS controller support is pretty good , with a couple things to improve [Discussion]

Overall the experience is pretty comfy which I expected from nms. Ship flying and fights are smooth and actually fun with controller, general exploration and base building is pretty good as well. Just a couple things nitpicks I noticed with my first impressions that I hope is improved. we should be able to change game pad controls inside the game rather than relying on steam, which works alright for now option to use dpad to navigate inventory rather than just sticks which can be be cumbersome at times. Same thing with other menus like when I am trying to sell or buy items. Inventory management with poe2 for example feels pretty good so that could be an inspiration. option to set mining to toggle, since when I am mining a lot I would prefer to not have to hold triggers all the time.

I'm sure there's a lot more issues with controller support that could be improved but those are just wishes I have from some hrs of play.

I feel like these models should get a little update, Most of the starship interior models in this game has this conviniently placed wall that tends to block your side view, why is it design like this anyway? I mean, if there's no window below me that's fine i guess, but besides me too?? I also feel like ship interiors on this game are very crampy too ESPECIALLY for Shuttles. Please, make your windows just 🤏 a little wider and make the pov wider overall, at least just for some ship types, so we can appreciate our surroundings inside more.

I’ve looked it up and apparently I just combine another heart with some platinum. I have the required materials but the option isn’t there to make it.

Total construction time: 4h 38m. The Island was fully flattened, smoothed off and prepped for Biodomes. Habitat was built first before the Aqua Tower Look Out was built, though I do prefer the Habitat above water.

Requirements for settlement presence? [Question]

Ever since the new settlements came out I’ve been trying to find a true new “home” for some autophage since the one that was “given” to me was on a lame planet.

I thought I found a great one that aligns perfectly with what I’d think the autophage want:

Low economy, low conflict, non-Korvax, desert dissonant planet in a purple system. There’s another toxic planet with scrap.

Only issue is that the storms are gravity storms… which makes me wonder:

What exactly is required for a settlement to spawn, and what disqualifies a settlement from spawning?

I’m aware that uncharted/abandoned systems and dead planets can’t have such settlements, but what else? This planet seemed to check off everything on my list but every time I try to pop a nav chart it doesn’t work, or pings a settlement on the toxic planet. I’ve used quite a bit of void motes…

Bro this game just made me so mad. [Bug]

Marking this a bug but I’m not sure if that’s it. This game man. I primarily have 2 saves I play between. Both permadeath. One for regular play and the other for vr. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of vr because I got a really nice mining laser mod right from the jump and it made things a LOT faster. I had gotten the farthest I’ve ever made it on a vr permadeath save, pretty much close to unlocking the anomaly, but doing a lot of base building missions to unlock all that stuff. Last time I played I was out on a planet but I turned off the game as I was finished playing and thought I would be fine to come back. Here we are now a few days later and I find my save deleted. PISSED. HOURS OF WORK GONE.

I get that I don’t need to play permadeath but I can’t help it. It makes the game so much more exciting but dude my save didn’t get deleted because I didn’t manage my resources or anything. My character just stayed online when I turned the game off or something. Bro that’s SO ANNOYING.

Settlement Population [Question]

New to the game. Got my first settlement and have spent a lot of time fixing it up, but my population still says 0. There are lots of NPCs walking around as well as a few that have come in that I had to accept. But no matter what population is still at 0. Help 😢 [Question]

Hello, I am new and I need help, guide me I arrived at a new system and when I arrived the event of the pirate freighter attacking a civilian freighter began. I was able to make him surrender, I entered the bridge and before exchanging I saw that it was class B, and it had almost 30 slots of space, but in the storage of my freighter I had important things and I didn't want it to get lost, so I called it, and took the things out of the inventory. When I returned to the pirate freighter, I don't know why it occurred to me to reload the game (in the hope of getting an A or S class) but I had forgotten that an autosave was made on my freighter, so I respawned on my freighter, when I left the pirate freighter was gone. So how can I reactivate the event? 😓 I read somewhere that the event is unique per game, so I will no longer have the possibility of having one in my game? It is worth mentioning that I did not reject the exchange, I just went out and reloaded I was also able to recruit a pirate frigate. But I was left wanting to get the pirate freighter 😢

Isn't Atlas supposed to simulate a single universe with a single anomalous traveler in it? How can it be justified that there are millions of anomalies (players)? It is defended with flaws in the dimensional limits but that suggests that Atlas simulates hundreds of universes, which is not suitable for a computer that was designed to simulate only one, due to overload and lack of hardware resources. Is this something that was overlooked when implementing multiplayer lore?

This game always comes up for me because I like survival exploration base builders. I have it on PS4 but never liked it because its boring and on PS4 rather ugly and runs poorly.

Lone drone keeps attacking my settlement [Question]

I’m pretty new to settlements. I played back in 2016 and a little after that but never got into settlements.
I got a settlement on a corrupted planet because I thought it looked cool.

I keep getting one single drone attacking my center building but get no alerts saying it’s under attack. If I attack drone more and more will come and it’s never ending. Is it a bug or what?

In the settlement it said my sentinel level was like 12% now it’s at 32.

Hey all!

I've been playing off and on pretty consistently since launch (about 1k hours total), and I really enjoy the base-building aspect of the game.

So, I've got two-fold questions for you fine cosmonauts:

  1. What do you do to achieve water features such as pools, hot tubs, waterfalls, fountains, etc. In a base?

  2. What are the odds the devs ever grace us with a water feature base kit? Lol

I've adopted this funny (to me) and functional Wizard of Oz-o-centric arrangement for the Polo Bobblehead and Starship Trails.

Follow me down the... yeah, just bear with me:

Polo is Dorothy(?)🤔 Golden Trail North for Glenda, Green for Wicked Witch of the West, Red for East (squashed Witch of the East of red slippers fame), Chromatic is South, because Polo is Over the Rainbow.

Stuck at 5FPS? [Bug]

Playing on PC Steam version with everything updated. All drivers are updated. Didn't think my R7 7700x, 64GB of DDR5 @ 3600 MT/s, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, and a 3070 Ti would have this issue.

Loaded in to my new save I'm working on, and my FPS dropped from 150 at the main menu, to 5 when I got into the game and stayed at 5. Basically making the game completely unplayable, and a slideshow.

I tried to restart the game a few times, but always the same result. The second i get into game, my FPS drops to 5 or 6 fps and stays there.

Figured out through a few trials, that I have to basically fly to my freighter, save, and then when I restart the game works as intended with no FPS drops.

I searched the sub, but this issues doesn't seem like it's very prevalent. What's up with this bug? I saw one or two posts saying they made like 3 or 4 reports of this in a month with no result or response.

Who else has had this issue before and what was your workaround?

First time playing a couple days ago. I have questions [Question]

How long/big is this game? Am I in for a fun ride?

I feel like there's so much going on and it almost feels like overload. I have gone to a few planets, and I'm at the point in the story where I have to triangulate my position but I'm focusing on upgrading my stuff, exploring, and getting comfy. I noticed there are other players near me sometimes, and I think that's pretty cool but what's the point of that mechanic?

Hold On ... You can buy ships and scrap them for PROFIT ?? [Question]

i'm a day 1 player returning for the latest update in the NEXT era (( brag much? no, establishing my knowledge of the game )), and i had a ship that i bought that was SUPER TINY (shorter than my height), but turns out it was a glitch and it got bigger after the next loading screen

so i went to scrap it (i had purchased it for about 4,200,000) and found that the scrap on it was 8,750,000 ... more than twice the value i paid for it

does this actually happen? i read all these other posts that say you only get 2/3 value, maybe even 3/4 if you're lucky; but mine sold for 200% value

is this a bug, or can flipping net you straight profit?

Idea- Requirements to play Past Expeditions [Suggestion]

Hear me out- what if Hello Games decided to add past expeditions in the game (but with a catch)? I think it would be pretty neat. Here's my idea:

After you finish In Stellar Multitudes, the expedition station at the Anomaly opens up and allows you to choose an expedition for 1,000 nanites. Of course, some milestones would need to changed around, but I think it's a good alternative if Hello Games won't implement entire expedition replays.

TLDR; After In Stellar Multitudes, go to Anomaly expedition station, choose expedition for 1,000 nanites.

I have approx 350 hrs of play on PC version of NMS over past 2 years. I had no problems until a series of NMS upgrades on Steam since March 2025. First, I lost 11 of my 12 ships shortly after the update which expanded ship limit from 12 to new ship limit (which I don't recall ATM). I added perhaps 6 ships after this limit was raised for a total of 18. I sold/traded/scrapped none of these ships. They were simply gone after several more upgrades around mid-May when I got back on NMS for the first time in ~2 months. The 6 ships I added above my original 12 ships are still in my inventory, summonable from X key press menu.

I checked NMS today after the latest Steam upgrade in the past week. In addition to the dozen ships missing before (I still have only the 6 "new" ones), now my Freighter and 30 frigates are gone. Can't teleport to or summon the freighter. It is not listed as a teleport option. Also, my settlement lost 24 settlers and finances are negatively disrupted.

WTH is going on here? I never lost a ship in the first 349 hrs of NMS gameplay. I am tempted to quit NMS now as I don't have 100s of hrs more free time to return game to former state through gameplay. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

(CONCEPT) Vision In Progress - Searching For A Capital Paradise Planet [Discussion]

I would say I’m no longer a newbie when it comes to NMS, despite some basics I forget here and there. I’ve been playing NMS for roughly 2 years now. Over that time, I’ve created and deleted multiple saves — always chasing a new spark, a new reason to keep diving back in. I wasn’t really focused on saving progress or speedrunning missions. I did some story stuff, sure, but what really kept me coming back was using my imagination to build purpose in a universe this big.

That’s what led me to this idea: I want to build an empire.

Not just a base. Not just a cool system. But a full vision — something with structure, lore, territory, and a sense of identity. A place that many or maybe just a few can call home. Right now I’m still in the concept phase. Still searching for that ideal paradise planet to serve as the capital, while locking in nearby systems in the mean time. Once I find it, I’ll start locking in, building lore, and growing from there.

This post is just me planting the seed. The start of something bigger.

A Trace of Metal Quest - Bug? [Bug]

I'm going through the A Trace of Metal questline and I think I'm stuck. I just unlocked the Minotaur and installed each arm, the legs, the body, and I did the thing with the Atlas for the hacked brain to make it have the autopilot mode.

Now the mission says that the sentry is broadcasting a vocalization signal and to communicate with it. When I do this, it says that it's happy we completed the Minotaur. It gives me three dialogue options: Ask who telamon is, demand who telamon is, and to run diagnostic. Regardless of which one I choose, it just says that Laylaps is amused with my concern and repeats the entire conversation.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

New buildings in Autophage settlements? [Bug]

Not sure if it's just Autophage settlements or if the problem is more general. Prior to Beacons I had a settlement that had the max number of buildings. That didn't change after the update. After the update, I was prompted be become the admin for an Autophage settlement. Gladly accepted. At this point I've upgraded all the existing buildings to S-class. But, none of the managerial tasks have included adding more buildings. And, to be able to manufacture some of the additional items that can be manufactured I'd need; 1) a starport, 2) a commercial building, and 3) a leisure building. I have all of those as buildings that were added through managerial tasks in my original settlement. Seems like a major bug, and I have reported this to the zendesk. So, is it just me, or is adding buildings not a thing in the new update? Are we stuck with only having the original buildings in a settlement now?

Multiplayer on the Switch 2 [Question]

The online multiplayer was the biggest selling point for me in the Switch 2 update but I had a hard time getting players to join me a single Nexus mission as everyone declining my invitation. Also it is very buggy that each time I exit to my Switch homepage to accept a friend request for example, the game automatically exit me from the multiplayer session and I have to quit to the main menu to reload the game but it took forever in the connecting screen. Anyone having this issue?

Need help with portal glyphs [Question]

Hi I’m fairly new to the game and I recently unlocked all my portal glyphs, I recently saw a YouTube video show casing a base called floating island museum and wanted to visit it, I entered the provided glyphs from the video and it took me to a planet that I had discovered when I finished teleporting so I had no base to visit:( is there something I’m doing wrong? I just lost all of my progress [Bug]

Like the title says, I lost literally everything. I was playing with my friend, quit the game, rejoined because I forgot to do something, and my saves were gone. I tried redownloading the game and playing it on cloud and nothing, I checked the story for it and I have NO saved data, literally all of my progress is just randomly gone out of nowhere I was wondering if anybody else has ever had this experience so I’ll feel like less of an outlier.

Can't download NMS on PS5 [Bug]

Dear Hello Games Support,

I was playing No Man’s Sky on my PS5 and attempted to join a multiplayer session with a friend. However, we were unable to connect due to a version mismatch. I then checked for updates, but upon doing so, I received an error message "Something went wrong" with the code CE-117740-0.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I deleted the game to reinstall it. Unfortunately, every time I try to download the PS5 version again, I encounter the following error: CE-107928-7 – “Can’t install. The data is corrupted. It will be deleted from your downloads and copies.”

My friend is experiencing the same problem on his PS5 system.

Could you please kindly clarify what is causing this issue and let us know when it is expected to be resolved?

Impatience at the Nexus [Discussion]

Make new frigate expedition for searching specific planets! [Suggestion]

I want to build my next base on a main (closest planet to the space station) Waterworld planet with green oceans. I jumped through several hundred purple systems and found only 2 of such planets. Imagine new type of expedition, where you set conditions to find a planet, it'll be much better than manually searching for days.

VR experience - PS5 vs PC (high end) with PSVR2 [Discussion]

One year ago I played NMS with PSVR2, and it was incredible. After several dozen hours I moved on to other games. With recent patches, the addition of PSVR2 adapter for PC and a high end PC (NV4080+7800X3d), I decided to give it another try on PC.

For the flat experience, there is no doubt that PC with high-end hardware is far far superior experience than PS5. For the VR experience, it's kind of mixed for PC.

Firstly I experienced the PC VR with default settings: graphics all to High, Steam VR resolution to 150% (which is pretty high) and DLSS to quality, FPS max to 90, Steam VR smoothing off. This gave me inconsistent frame rate as low as 50-60 in settlements.

I adjusted the Steam VR resolution to 70%, DLSS to performance, which still had unstable FPS in heavy situations. Currently I used FPS 120, Steam VR smoothing on (for reprojection to keep FPS 60/120) and DLSS to medium one. This resulted in acceptable but still somewhat unstable FPS.

The other problem was controller prompt was not showing correctly for sense controller on PC. I searched and found out that this problem also occurred in other controllers but was never solved.

The foveated rendering on PS5 did made the whole performance a lot smoother comparing with PC. Although in some situations PCVR had a little bit better graphics.

For those with limited budget, I suggest sticking with PS5 for VR in NMS.

Concept, controlling a frigate mission in person [Discussion]

In my opinion, Frigates are one of the nicest features in games, I still read all the logs when they return from missions...

It would be nice to be able to directly control a Frigate Mission, here some ideas:

  1. You would not pilot frigates directly, but you would be on the bridge of the leader Frigate and your ship would be available on one of the pads.

  2. You would plot a route on the galaxy map, that would be not modifiable, you can only order to warp to the next system.

  3. Entering in a system you will select a planet to explore and select one of the available exploration routes (for example, polar, equatorial or some other inclination), the fleet would cruise on the select route, you have the option to abort the planet exploration and proceed to the next.

  4. The various types of frigates would perform tasks depending on the type:

  • Combat would defend from pirates (with your help using the ship if needed), gains from destroyed attackers. Pirate players would be cool too, if PvP is enabled.

  • Exploration would identify minerals, plants, animals (class would affect how efficient this is) along the route. Gains from the collected data. Same as identifying things using your visor.

  • Trading would perform transactions with the found trading posts and get you money.

  • Industrial would map subterranean resources (power, minerals, gasses) and find you a good spot for bases. Those would also harvest a small amount of resources from surface minerals found along the route.

  • Support would provide bonuses and extra storage for resources.

Ideally a mission should provide a couple hours of interesting gameplay. Again, it would be not direct piloting, on the frigate you would have a console and give orders to the captain (stop, continue, abort route and return to orbit, next planet, next system, abort to Freighter).

Been really falling in love with this game recently. [Screenshot]

I've been too focused on the exploration part of the game and it's been boring me out a little. So I spent some hours figuring out some of the other, of many, activities the game has to offer. I've been upgrading my character, maxing out my multitool and built my first S-class fighter. Yesterday I tried exploring a derelict freighter and it was the most cinematic experience I've had in a game.

It really becomes addicting. I went from a standard traveller in my trusted Radiant Pillar to a freighter owning autophage in a matter of 2 days. I love it

No Mans Sky VR: Fun things to do? [Question]

To skip the appreciation section just jump ahead to the three *** and if you want to see how I got it working (using virtual desktop, as wired didn't work for me) jump ahead to the very last paragraph.

got PCVR, and first off an appreciation section: So many games on VR have insane performance requirements or limited real world interactivity due to half baked mechanics. NMS is the first major PC title I've got running acceptably on high. So thank you. It's the game that in the year I've owned it is now gonna actually give me a reason to use VR. It's so immersive and there's so much interaction, I love the analysis visor, just all of this helps me build up so much immersion. The scale is incredible too, large mountains feel large, everything is so much bigger in VR, and playing as a gek is terrifying cuz you're only lil.

*** Appreciation section over.

Are there any vr specific fun things you'd recommend? By this I mean perhaps ways to immerse yourself even more, or activities to do that you can't do on a pc/things to look out for? I wanna get wacky and a lil chaotic with vr in nms right now. Also I'm on my way home and just really hyped to play it some more, so thought asking this would be a good time waster for all involved. :)

As for how I got it working, I simply used virtual desktop. I have infinite mobile data and hotspot usage isn't limited either. My WiFi is pathetic, but with mobile data I get minimal stuttering, only parts of the nexus stutter and it's still playable for me, as it's only stutters in chunks and plays smooth til I enter the next chunk of the nexus.

NMS settlements [Question]

My husband and I are new to NMS, we play on ps5. We found a settlement for the first time and he took it over as overseer. We've been trying to find a second settlement with no luck. Using the charts you can get from the space ship, just keeps sending us back to the same settlement he already oversee at. Is there anyway around this? Anyone else having trouble with Switch 2 version compatibility? [Question]

So, basically what the title says. I have the game on Steam, and I tried to play with someone on the Switch 2 edition. Turns out, the Steam version is more up-to-date that the Switch 2. On the patch notes, the last to releases are not on Switch, even tho the game just came out. Even trying to play with an outdated version on Steam doesn't work. Does anyone know if this will be a long-term problem, or just a temporary issue because of the game's launch on Switch 2?

Just in case someone is wondering, the Switch 2 version is the 145001, and the corresponding outdated version on Steam is 145105, for some reason. These are the BEACON update version, using the Steam version released the 4th of June.

Settlement Production Question [Question]

Yesterday morning (around 6:30AM EDT) this settlement output said it would be about 23 hours for the products to be ready. Just checked again and they’re still not ready and it’s saying 19 hours. No Man’s Sky has way too many planets. I did the math and... it’s insane [Discussion]

I saw an article from IGN that mentioned No Man’s Sky has 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets.

Naturally, I had to do the math:

If each solar system has around 5 planets, that’s about 3.68 quintillion solar systems.

Let’s say it takes you 10 minutes to explore one system.

That adds up to about 70 trillion years for a single player to explore them all.

But what if 10,000 players were working together, 24/7, never stopping? It would still take over 7 trillion years to explore the entire game.

For context:

The actual universe is only ~13.8 billion years old.

So yeah... You’re never “beating” No Man’s Sky. And that’s kind of the point.

Low Orbit Bases - anyone having issues with rendering or decorations disappearing? [Question]

I’m currently building a low orbit base, well within the build restrictions of my planet (I did the research), but I’m finding that some parts are disappearing on reloads. Yesterday I created an agriculture station with the vendor, and when I loaded in today this area of the build has gone. The game is claiming though that my vendor is still there, and I’m unable to place more than one.

I know this recent update has come with a plethora of issues, I wasn’t sure if this is part of it, or whether this has been something that just low-orbit bases suffer from?

Edit: I forgot to add, some parts will sometimes appear, but then disappear if I fly away and come back. Rendering issue?

Is farming pirates a good way to make money early on? [Discussion]

I'd like to make money fast, so that I can buy some of these cool spaceships I see landing at space stations. Money, not nanites.

  1. I heard if you buy some items at pirates stations they sell very well at normal space station. Which items are those?

  2. I got a lot of money selling pirate bounties or w/e, from destroying pirates. Seems like a decent income.

  3. Someone said to make 200-ton fuel from tritium and dihidrogen but i need a recipe from the anomaly so working on that. How does this compare to the 1st 2 options above?

  4. I just upgraded my multitool to Class B and added some upgrades with nanites. Any ores I should try farming? Copper? uranium? Phosporus?

So, upgrading your office disables it. [Screenshot]

When you upgrade your settlement office you can't get in to use the teleporter. And if you think, "Ah ha, I'll just start the upgrade from inside and then I can use the teleporter". Bzzzt! The inside turns into a construction zone and not only is the teleporter not there; you also can't get out until construction is finished. Luckily that's only a couple minutes for the office.

FINALLY have an S-class Freighter on my 500 hour save [Discussion]

Just needed to share with the community. I had damn near given up hope. After countless hours, hundreds of save reloads, and LITERALLY thousands of warps, I finally managed to come across an S-class freighter while defending a civilian capital ship from pirates. Decided to board the pirate freighter to collect tribute, and discovered it was S-class. Never hit “claim freighter” so fast in my life.

"Beacon" update bug: settlement stuck in nonexistent "biological infestation" [Bug]

Has this happened to anyone else? For the past few days, my Dissonant settlement has thought that it was experiencing a biological infestation, but there are no bugs, no combat, and no invasion. Meanwhile, new events keep popping up on the administrative console as usual, but it doesn't highlight my completed building projects because the nonexistent "invasion" takes precedence - so I have to hunt for the completed building manually.

Someone in the nexus just gave me 700$ million. What do I do? [Question]

So I went to the bathroom and someone named lavish gave me 700 million units in items. I sold them and started hunting for an S class ship and bought an A class freighter. Are the Salvaged base parts still bugged in a brand new save? [Discussion]

I play on Xbox Series X. I'm contemplating whether or not to start a new save as my current one isn't that far along but was started before Beacons.

Just wondering if the invisible base parts and texture issues would be solved. Not entirely sure that it is worth the effort at the moment though.

Multiplayer issues [Question]

So. It seems like this question has been asked a lot over the span of the No Man Sky existence. However I'm reaching the same issue with my friend. I know the game just came out with updates and there's a bunch of new stuff but has it affected multiplayer (joinability) at all? We've kinda gone through all the reasons why it might not be working but all it comes down to is assuming we dont have good enough internet to connect to one another. So I'm asking the group instead of getting a bunch of spread out answers from 3 years ago. Ya know?

TWO IDENTICAL SENTINEL INTERCEPTORS?! How did this happen? [Question]

So somehow, I've managed to acquire two entirely identical Sentinel Interceptors. They are 100% identical in literally every way possible. Exactly the same tech and cargo slots, exactly the same appearance, same selling price, same performance stats, even the same auto generated name.

The first one, I got from the campaign side-mission, where the game introduces you to salvaging sentinel interceptors. The second one I found using a Carrier Ai Fragment, which ended up taking me to the same planet that my first interceptor was found on. I didn't think anything of it, since it's the closest (and only) dissonant planet I've discovered. Lo and behold, it ended up being an exact copy of my first interceptor that the game sent me to.

Is this a weird bug, or just some absolutely mindnumbingly insane coincidence? Idk why or how this happened, but I'm gonna use another Carrier Ai Fragment and see if that gets me a different sentinel interceptor, or if it brings me to yet another completely identical one.

I just started playing again on a new save, and I saw that the new beacon update came out, so I wanted to get a settlement going. I managed to build the overseer office just fine, but I started this construction, and I absolutely cannot find this stinking console, like I don't think it's even there. Is it bugged or am I missing something?

Audience with the Autophage buggy? [Bug]

I've built the staff head, and the quest never updated (kept saying I have to get the blueprint for a head), but I proceeded and eventually built the staff. Again, no update.

Seems I couldn't at all progress without restarting the mission and trying it again. Now it feels so tedious.

So much work and hassle to unlock the Autophage race!

Abandoned mode discussion time! [Discussion]

I figured this would be a fun topic of discussion because I'm starting out on my very first HC permadeath abandon mode! I'm already three hours in, and have developed a nice little home base on a recently found paradise planet where I can start going out and do some basic material farming (Copper, Ferrite dust, Oxygen, Carbon, Di-Hydrogen, Cobalt and Sodium) This way I can keep a healthy amount of Life support gels and Ion Batteries, when venturing out into the universe without too much worry. I'm currently in the process of just finding planets that have a solid amount of Sodium (though, that's hard when resources are so scares lol.

I knew this would be a pretty difficult challenge as basic tech upgrades are SUPER expensive.

Which leads me to the discussion part of this post!

For those who've played Abandon mode (or are like me, a HC Permadeath abandon mode), what's your guys goals to achieve in those first 50 hours? What do you prioritize first, Tech a solid way to get nanites for better gear, or focus on just not dying?

Let me know! I wanna hear your stories from those first 50 hours in the game!

they who returned portal bug [Bug]

50u from the portal terminal this happens in "They who've returned"

When I walk up to the portal (50u is the threshold) that is meant to be presented with atlantideum, the quest bugged out and flips madly between the "follow the trace to the portal" objective, and "a hidden gateway has appeared". The portal was activated as normal with a random address when i walked up the first time. no particular portal address works and i've tried weilding a voltaic staff, but the prompt to deliver atlantideum doesn't appear.

I've tried cycling through a few autophage missions, warping in and out of the system to maybe reset the portal. and i don't think we have the "reset mission with nearby systems" function anymore (could be wrong but I believe they disabled it and now just tell you to teleport your way back with a space station)

3CPiO stepped out of the building and slowly scanned for signs of trouble.... [Screenshot]

I went back to an old save for a change, it has a three paradise planet system in Eissentam, My settlement there retained its B class, and is still growing, and the invite for the Autophage settlement was one planet over on one of the other paradise planets.

I'm loving the art direction on these new parts, and having them alongside Northern Light Skies and Bioluminescent Terrain just makes me feel like I'm about to read a Jerry Pournelle novella.

Spaceship acceleration glitching [Bug]

I cant slow down, cause its stuck at 18 j/s and when i try to speed up it glitches. At first it was even worse, it was basically jumping between very low - j/s and high + j/s. Then i tried exiting the game, and it was like this. At first i thought it was happening because i had no fuel but i refueled it so i dont know whats causing it.

Cargo pods on freighters [Question]

I read a post saying that an easy way to get fuel and frigate modules was to destroy cargo pods on freighters in outlaw systems, however when I destroy the cargo pods non of the loot comes to my starship? What am I doing wrong?

Can't recruit into squadron after exchanging ship [Question]

I'm trying to have a squadron of 4 identical ships. I got the ships I wanted, then I exchanged at the space station and recruited the pilot with the ship I just gave them. Worked perfectly with the first three. With the fourth one I'm having trouble since the option to recruit them disappears as soon as I exchange ship

2 hrs into the game- what's a good way to handle the mechanics of this game? [Question]

Plan on introducing this to my wife- so far I love it! I definitely feel "alone" in this and I like the concept of no real end game. Is there a way to really get a grasp though from where I am at? I know my wife will feel overwhelmed, and after the really bad day we are having, I'm hoping this is a good way to bond together.

Any tips to help me out would be great from the vets here. Thank you.

Is anyone else still waiting to transfer their save file to Switch 2? Are we waiting for a patch? Can anything be done? [Bug]

So in other threads I've gotten the impression that I'm not the only one having trouble transferring my save game to switch 2. No matter how many times I select to download the save, it still just says Download Required.

The game doesn't give any information on what the problem is. Is it that we're waiting for Nintendo to approve the latest patch to sync with the pc version?

Is there some other work around? Is this going to be a problem every single patch? If so, can we at least add some more explanation in the actual game so that we know what is going on?

Needing new ideas for remaining decorations [Discussion Video]

No Settlers - Am I Screwed? [Question]

I am currently trying to complete the "The Settlers - Life on the harsh frontier" mission. When I get to the settlement I check the computer and the option to apply as overseer is grayed out and says "Applications closed during emergency"

The mission says "Speak to one of the settlers about the distress signal."

But there are no settlers. I thought I had seen an option to restart the mission at one point but that isn't showing now. Am I screwed? Is this part of the Beacon update debacle?

Analysis Visor Scanning Sound options [Suggestion]

Ever since the scanning sound for the analysis visor was changed a few years ago I just can't play this game as much anymore; I love exploring and scanning new things, but having to hear the scanning noise too much gives me headaches! I've tried playing with sound effects muted but I don't like not being able to hear the ambient sounds.

I would suggest either: a volume slider option for the scanning noise (just like the new exosuit voice slider) or different options for the scanner (like og sound + current for those who don't mind/actually like it, also like the new exosuit options :Vc ). It could also work if the scanner sound level was tied to the exosuit's slider (I'd take anything at this point tbh).

Extremely doubtful this would ever get added to the game but this would be a serious quality of life improvement for noise-sensitive players like me.

Freighter recolored bug after Beacon updates. [Bug]

Loaded nms today to try to find my old settlement. Spawned in my freighter, but every single room and corridor has changed color. Really annoying (especially since some were unique colors only obtainable via placing an item, recoloring then placing the rooms, and replacing will delete all furniture.

So I walked around and recolord the first tfloor to what it should be - white and purple. However when I returned to where I started, they'd all reverted to a blue which they were before.

Is there a fix for this? Recoloing the rooms doesn't permanently change. I haven't got it in me to rebuild. It took me weeks.

Can't install disc game of No Man's Sky, error ce-107928-7 [Bug]

Has anyone experience that? I followed other posts and YouTube videos about it, but they talk all about Wi-Fi connections, and I'm wired, all other steps have been followed (change DNS, change MTU, Update system software, reset router connection, etc.), but still nothing. This just happened after I wanted to re-download No Man's Sky in its PS5 version but now I can't, when I surely could a few months back.

My best C-class Frigate yet! [Screenshot]

I am fairly particular about my ships. I only buy C-class ships and they must have their primary stat at no lower than 22 points . The closer it is to 22 the higher at least one other stat has to be. Before this ship, the highest I had ever gotten was 26 so I was really excited about this one. It doesn’t really have any other great stat, but I’ve seen that changed during level ups, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed. No matter what I know it’s going to be a powerful combatant.

What’s the highest you’ve seen? Can they get stronger at C-class? I certainly hope so.

Freighter build, specifically staff questions [Question]

I’ve been on and off this game for a minute now (years)… I still have so many questions…

I feel like I’m missing something for my industrial modules. I can’t figure out how to get my Exocraft specialist room to do anything. I can’t seem to find the right vy’keen to come work for me, do I have to up my rep for the vy’keen? I’ve talked to so many of them, learning language, giving them gifts… I still haven’t figured it out. Maybe I haven’t done the right mission yet? Or maybe I have to finish a photography mission for my overseer?

Also can I re design my freighter layout without loosing anything or anyone?

If anyone could help me and have a chat that’s be greatly appreciated!!!!
