Space Station ownership. Build out your own station, Settlement style?? Just some ideas ... [Question]
The new stations are nice. But I miss the old days, bar when there were lounges, bars, gardens, all with big windows looking out into space. They felt somewhat lived in, although very small. The new stations need that back. And how better than building it yourself.
Space Station ownership has been a hot debated topic over the past few years. Especially since the Station Core was introduced years ago that still does absolutely nothing.
I always thought it was an interesting idea, but said, what's the point? Build a base? We have our freighters for that ...
But this last update had me thinking. While settlements still aren't what they could be, they are a neat little thing to do. What if Space Station ownership meant you could basically build a settlement, but IN a space station?
Build out your own space station with space bars, restaurants, theaters, dwellings, shooting galleries, ect.
But then it got me thinking what if it would be your very own Very SIMPLE version of Fallout Shelter, or SimTower? Build it out in the 2d grid form, and then you can go explore it later in 3d. And you could keep your settlers happy by working, and send them out on expeditions just like how fallout shelter works.
Having a "game within a game" to me is where NMS shines. Use the game as a platform for many other things. Building Bases. Exploring derelict freighters and solving the mysteries. Finding Artemis. Building race tracks.
A simplified fallout shelter style game could be really neat, and offer variety to the settlements mini game. Because honestly, what else would space station ownership be for?
