How exactly are vendor prices determined? [Question]

I’ve finally made it past the crux of leaving the first system, and now I want to build up a bit of cash.

But I still don’t understand what dictates a vendor having -2.1% or +18% on a certain item.

Is it based on the surrounding planets of the station having it available? Is it race based? What’s the deal

What do I even do in this situation? [Question]

For context, I got this settlement sometime in early September of last year and then just stopped playing the game. Now that I'm back I went to take a look at my settlement and uhhhh it's not great. Do you guys have any tips on how to manage settlements so that I can clear my debt up faster? I have been doing my best to settle citizen disputes and approve buildings whenever I need to, as well as take care of sentinel raids as fast as I can but clearly I still have a lot of work to do. Any recommendations? Should I just scrap the settlement and start over? Is that even possible?

Do freighter inventories transfer. [Question]

Just found a nice pirate dreadnought and wanted to swap to it. When I click claim a warning comes up saying "Warning: inventory is not transfered when exchanging ships. Transfer items to the new ship before completing exchange."

Am I safe to exchange or do I need to summon my freighter and try and fit everything in my ship.

How do you guys search for your “perfect” planet? [Question]

For instance my perfect planet would be: -paradise, lush, grassy ecc -has to be korvax or ynkeen -water and possibly mountains -bice grass,sky,water color

At the moment I’m warping between systems w my fregate and scanning all planets at once and If I like them I might land on it. There is a faster way? What’s your experience on finding the right planet?

Was the free Freighter reloading patched? [Question]

I'm on a new save, I don't have a freighter yet, have been in-game AFK on a Space Station for 3 hours, warped 4 times, saved, then a fifth time and the Freighter battle spawned in. It wasn't the Freighter I wanted, so I reloaded my Restore Point, and jumoed the fifth time again, except the Freighter battle didn't spawn in. Is the reloading part that allows me to find the partocular Freighter I want, patched?

Best Community! But!? [Discussion]

I truly believe we have one of the coolest communities, for a game, on reddit, easily! We are super helpful and encouraging.

BUT! I've noticed that people who are posting locations for things (portals, or cordinates) usually have those locations over run with people who end up putting bases and things on top of those locations thus rendering things like ships for example, gone.

Just curious why? I mean is it truly to prevent others from seeing those things? Making it so that what was found is limited? Or is this a glitch that my save is preventing me from seeing things?

Are you seeing the same thing? Is it just me being sensitive? Happy exploring!

Ideas 💡 for Submarine base [Build]

I arrived in this Galaxy and found this planet very interesting, the temperate climate, flora and fauna, lots of grass and water. Right from the start, I already received a mission "Dreams of the Depths", which gave me a ship and the possibility of building an underwater base and a submarine. Do I go ahead and make my own Rapture (Bioshock references)?

Never go off exploring on foot without making sure your ship has fuel, I went off on foot to explore and do some farming and tried to summon my one and only ship and had no fuel, I have no freighter and spent almost 3 hours looking for my ship

Unable to join friend or invite them, can't do anything but "remove NMS Friend?" [Question]

So the title is more or less the issue here. I recently started to get into the game quite a lot, and I'm attempting to get a friend into it as well. We're both playing via Xbox GamePass on our PCs. After adding each other with the friend codes we tried to join on one another only to have no options to invite or join when highlighting each other (and for some reason they're shown as a ? in the friend list on my end). I can still run up to randoms in the anomaly and invite to group and so can my friend, but we can't seem to join each other. I'm at a loss on a fix.

How to mark multiple fixed points on the map in No Man’s Sky (such as deposits, merchants, etc.)? [Question]

Hey guys! All very well?

I'm early in the game and I'm having trouble marking several important locations near my base. I wanted to know if there is any way to create multiple permanent markers on the map — something similar to flags or labels — so as not to lose sight of points of interest such as:

Deposits of rare resources (e.g. copper, uranium, salt)

Merchants that appear near the base

Other useful structures I find in exploration

Currently, I see two types of markup: Marker with stake (via scanner with E key):

This marker is permanent and visible even from far away (including from space).

However, the problem is that I can only have one asset at a time, which is quite limiting. Temporary resource marker (via scanning):

It works the moment I scan a resource or location.

But it disappears as soon as I walk away or after a while.

To try to get around this, I thought of an alternative: creating a minibase in each resource deposit. So, I could install a minimal energy system and a teleport portal, naming each base according to the resource (e.g. "Copper Base", "Uranium Base", etc.). But that would force me to spend several base slots just for tagging, which might not be ideal in the long run.

My question is: is there any native solution in the game, any technology, item or method that allows you to create more than one permanent marker in a practical way? Or any viable alternative that works better than this minibase idea?

Can't start with mods [Question]

I started playing No Man’s Sky today. I downloaded it and played for like 6 hours straight. As an unusual gamer, I play almost every game with mods, so I decided to mod this one too.

I’m using Vortex now and installed about 10 mods. I tried launching the game through Vortex, but nothing happens—no pop-up, no error, just nothing. After that, I launched the game through the Xbox app (the default way), and it started, but none of the mods were active.

So now I’m stuck. I don’t want to waste hours playing without the mods. How the hell do I start the game with mods working properly?

Help with multiplayer [Question]

Really confused.

I bought the game today with my friend and we tried to play together. I started a lobby. We are clearly on the same planet and can see each other's makers, but when we come to the same place, we can't see each other. We also don't see each other's bases.

We are currently at the "Craft antimatter" mission, will we be able to progress together after some time? Or the game bugged.

What to do now [Question]

This is kind of an update to one of my older posts. I completed all the main missions and got the purple star system. I also completed dreams of the deep. I made my own S class ship and got and living ship and a S sentinel ship and multi tool. I also have my own settlement but I find managing that kind of boring. Is there anything important left to do or do I just wait for the next update?

Apparently I need my head examined [Discussion]

For some reason I got in stuck in my head that a harmonic site was like a good for you place to put down roots for a base and sing campfire songs.......what a letdown that was 🤣🤣🤣. Finally decided to give it a whirl. The one I found was right next to a crashed freighter so that was a plus. But only ended up with a class b ship in the end. It does look cool and I might try and fit it for my daily use. But I have an s class shuttle so idk 🤔🤔🤔

The "Dude, Get A Life" Award [Build]

I have now hit 10,000 hours playing No Man's Sky. I suggest there be a new (dubious) award for those of us who spend more time in the game than doing just about anything else. I got the game several months after its start, so I do not belong to that rarified "Day One Club." But, I have been busy. I am sharing some of my bases in case you might find them interesting or amusing. While skilled, I definitely am not a master builder, especially with the likes of those who build for the Grand Tour as presented on their Discord community. I recently have been playing in Multiplayer, but my preference is solo play. I've tried doing the civilizations route, but that did not work for me. As the release of Light No Fire might be soon (I definitely hope to be a "Day One Player,") I wonder if there are any 15,000 or even a few 20,000 hour players out there, not counting the developers or Sean! Happy Travels!!

Radiant Pillar changed color [Screenshot]

I upgraded my Radiant Pillar to S class about a week or so ago and signed off for the evening. When I signed back on the colors scheme had changed. No combination of loading other saves alternate saves, closing reopening, etc, would restore it. I'm now torn of whether I like the idea of having one with a unique color combination, or just annoyed it's different. The colors it turned out aren't exactly the best.

Lost my permadeath world 😭 [Bug]

I just lost my permadeath world cuz my game glitched and teleported my ship into my freighter and the collision from suddenly being inside the thing killed me. I am very sad 😭. I dont imagine there's a way to get that save back is there =( .

Just something to ponder... [Question]

I'm playing relaxed mode on my Mac. In case that matters.

I got dropped on a not-so hostile starter planet and spend the first 4 (irl) days or so on it figuring things out. I got myself a bit of a base and claimed a settlement.

The mild toxicity didn't bother me but the planet wasn't very pretty. I also got it in my head that I 'should' find an earth like planet to make my main base on and then venture out and discover a million more planets.

So I wandered around for a week (irl) or so and visited maybe 500 solar systems while completing the main 2 story lines.

I never found my tropical paradise and eventually returned to my base on my starter planet. The planet next to it is kinda earth-like. It's a desert with realistic colors and cactus and stuff. No natural hazards to speak off and not ugly looking. So I decided to move camp and settle there.

I hop around in my freighter every once in a while. I do a bunch of missions and such from time to time. But I always keep coming back to my starter solar system.

It's been 3 months...

I suppose I could delete my base and live out of my freighter. But meh...

How many of you actively travel around as a space nomad?
How many of you actually care that there are a trillion planets to find?
How many of you actually exploit the scale of the game?

Feeling really overwhelmed [Discussion]

Every time I’m done playing the game for the day, I figure out what I need next and look at some tutorial for it. The thing is that I just get so overwhelmed how one thing to make one form of farming more efficient involves using another mechanic similar to the one I was trying to improve. It just feels awful. Main problem for me is unit and nanite farming and where to sell things and how to get the best modules etc etc. sorry for the rant.

Feature Idea: Molecular Deconstructor [Suggestion]

I'm still early into playtime compared to some (235h) so I'm sure there's lots yet for me to discover but I don't think a Molecular Deconstructor is out there yet.

I'd see it similar to the refiners, but opposite (1 input, multiple output) and more true to chemistry. For instance, instead of methane (CH4) breaking down into nitrogen (N2), it would require 2 methane and break down into 2 carbon & 8 hydrogen. My idea of a molecular deconstructor should only work for mixed element molecules, unless ozone is added to the game (in which case, 2 ozone would break into 3 oxygen).

What do you think of the idea, and how would you improve it?

Tangentally, WHY does a v2 personal / large refiner not combine H2 & C in 4:1 ratio into methane, but can combine 3 sulpherine, nitrogen, and radon into 1 methane...?

Completely greyed out game on console [Bug]

Last night I was looking for living frigates and so I warped out quite a while into the distance found a living frigate bought it and decided to take the six-minute journey back to the nearest planet. But when I emptied the warp mode thing (forgot what it's called lol) instead of looking like the Star Wars hyperdrive scenes it just looked like normal space, and then once I left my entire screen went black except for a white oval in the middle, nothing changed from this point onwards so I quit out and joined back only to see that the entire screen was black I can see the UI and everything else but the whole game itself is just completely black. I did some research and came back to it today trying some bug fixes like creating a new worlds on different kinds of modes, deleting and reinstalling the game, I'm loading up previous save files, nothing works everything is just completely grayed out in a single color, even the photo mode just shows the single block colour. It's as if my Traveler looked too close at a son and is now completely blind since I can still see the UI just not any of the actual game. Just to add to this I'm on console not on PC, if I was on PC I can totally understand why this would be happening as it could have something to do with my graphics card or whatever but that stuff just doesn't apply on a console plus I can see the UI the game runs completely fine and I'm still in the game as my ship was bumping into asteroids and I managed to land on a planet at one point. Please someone just give me some kind of information regarding this my best bet now is to clear my games cache or just wait. Just sucks since this is one of the most fun games I've played in years and I was really getting deep into the save file I don't want to have to quit out on this entire game all of a sudden because of some stupid bug.

Finding Sentinels [Question]

I need to kill 6 sentinels for my quest, I’ve gone to multiple high sentinel activity planets and started killing animals and harvesting resources but still haven’t seen a single sentinel, I’m on default settings for normal difficulty. Is my game glitched or am I doing something wrong?

Ships building [Question]

How would you feel if they added a revamped ships building system like having shipyards that offered certain ship parts or even ships as a vendor.

What about freighter building. A completely new system where you could design your own freighter (obviously it would cost a hefty sum) and these parts where rare but the ability to have something of your own would be nice?

Thoughts on cross save and how game will play on Switch 2? [Question]

I just got back into NMS after several years off and am having a lot of fun playing on PS5. I would like to play this game on the go though when I am out and about. Which brings me to my questions, the last info I can find about cross save was months ago when it was in beta and how buggy it was. Is it still that way or better. Which if it is better I’m wondering if the gameplay experience will be better on the switch 2 since it is a more powerful console than the original switch. Any word on this from Hello games or do we expect the experience to be about the same which I have heard misses some features compared to it being on steam, or one of the other consoles? I do have a Rogue ally X, but would prefer to play on a bigger screen when switch 2 comes out next week.

Missed expedition, can't return to space anomaly [Bug]

A few weeks ago I entered the last expedition, but didn't start nor played it. I was on the start planet and exited the game. Yesterday I got a new GPU and wanted to check out my base. I am still in the expedition and the get the info, that it ended and that I should return to the space anomaly to finish the expedition. Unfortunaly I can't find it. It's not in outer space and I can't call it from the menu. Honestly that feels like a bug.

Is there another way to end the expedition? Do I need the help from Sean like that guy that was stuck on a planet? 😅

new fave thing to do with geology cannon [Discussion]

⚠️ at ur peril : not for permadeath mode probably. pick a reasonably wide open area, dont do this near a building or walls or cave or you will die lol.

look straight up as far you can, spin in a circle, while spinning start unloading ur geology cannon in a circle.

it reigns down pure chaos in the local area, and is very satisfying to listen to. results may vary. sometimes you get random resources, other times you might hit a sentinel. who knows!

THE STAR WARS GALAXY NEEDS YOU!🫵 [SWGP]

Help us, as we search far and wide in the galaxy of Eissentam for all the planets seen and known in the star wars universe, as we find more and more, we populate and build upon them, making them lively, as we gain more people, it will become more like a functioning civilization set in the star wars galaxy.

We have recently hit 150 members, this means we have introduced Coruscant, free for people to build, a full jedi/sith order system, and we have also released Syndicates, and our own subreddit with the link in the discord!
We have also included trading cards and planetary leadership, anyone can be a senator. Our project has a galactic senate controlled by The Chancellor.

Here are the planets we have found:

Tatooine - A sandy desert home to many thriving businesses
Geonosis - Desert world, now overun with Droid Factories
Alderaan - Mountainous Lush Planet
Takodana - Lush green planet
Ilum - An empty snow planet, strong in the force, home to the Ilum Jedi Temple
Dagobah - A swampy land, home to the frogs, this place is strong with the force
Kashyyyk - A jungle forest planet filled with life, this place is the land of the Wookiees

Just wondering if u can get ANY sentinel stuff from them as then I might search for one with the sentinel brain thing so I can process it for 2500 nanites each :).

P.S. I am aware that freighters can give the nanites much more efficiently however I put this after I posted the thing XD.

Noob Question [Question]

For context, I play on xbox and just started playing about a week ago.

I made it to the point where I get the mission to visit the Anomaly and did so. As soon as I got there this guy, Dustin348, gave me a bunch of stuff.

I don't even know what it all is or does, but I wanted to say thank you and couldn't figure out how (aside from gestures).

I could see people chatting in game but I never figured out how to chat myself. So, my question is, is there text or proximity chat on console?

I found a Reddit post from 1 year ago while googling that said PC could text chat but console could not, so I was wondering if that's changed.

Improving cities and buildings [Suggestion]

It's no secret that the game has a lot of activities, but they are either weakly connected to each other or simply lack depth.

However, the development of cities seems like one of the most logical next steps.
At this point, the game already has a ton of content that could be reused to update the generation of surface settlements.
For example, content from abandoned cargo freighters could be repurposed into the generation of derelict or decommissioned research centers or settlements.
If a procedural monster generation system were introduced, it would greatly enhance the game's atmosphere and allow the lore behind these abandoned factories to be revealed.

And in general, it would be really cool to discover procedurally generated settlements without the option to become their overseer — varying in size, from just a couple of houses to a full-blown western-style town.

Another reasonable step would be to expand the settlers' lives: daily routines, food, needs, and housing.
Also, implementing a system to defend your settlement or base from pirates, creatures, and natural hazards.
The game already includes models for planetary defense turrets and shields since the NEXT update.
You could even tie this into pirate bases, abandoned or infected settlements, or underground labs nearby.
As long as they exist close to your settlement, the risk and frequency of attacks would increase.
Destroying pirate bases or laboratories could reward the player with rare modules or unique hull parts for ship construction.

So, what do you think about this idea?

Getting Living Frigates - Don't Make Same Mistakes I Did !!! [Screenshot]

I had gotten a living frigate on my custom save but it was a long time ago and so now was trying to do it on my permadeath save. Here are all the mistakes I made! And some tips that may help you get your first and subsequent living frigates.

First, you need the Dream Aerial. I won't cover here how to get that. However, I *WILL* remind you to be sure and check your inventory! I did scores of frigate missions trying to get the blueprint to drop. I could never get a 3-star mission to drop. I finally realized that I already had the blueprint in my inventory! So be sure and check.

Then, I crafted a Dream Aerial and put it in my exosuit inventory. I was all set. I gather up some anomaly detectors and started pulsing. I hit probably 6 different systems, each for up to 30 minutes. But no whalesong popped! I was sure it was supposed to happen right away but it didn't.

I finally realized that apparently the Dream Aerial must be in your *SHIP* inventory rather than your exosuit. At least I think so. Also, I didn't actually have the living frigate mission selected, so I selected it just in case.

I also realized that my frigate fleet was full (30 frigates). So be sure your fleet *IS NOT FULL*!

Just to be safe, I saved and reloaded from a restore point, popped a detector, and started pulsing. The whalesong appeared within 30 seconds and BOOM I had my first living frigate. Be sure to go all the way through the *DIALOG* during the first frigate. It's not until the end that you actually add it to your fleet.

After the first one, it's easy to get more. In less than 15 minutes I added another 3 to my fleet. Just use an anomaly detector in a new system, pulse, and *IGNORE* everything until it says whalesong. I pulse in a system for 15 minutes max then move on to the next. But so far I've gotten one within the first 10 minutes.

So, on PS4, let's say I briefly change a serting like difficulty, or fuel cost, or any of that. If I switched back, would I still be able to get achivements or are they unable to be earned on my save? (Kind of like how turning on cheats in Minecraft will disable achivements in Bedrock whether you switch back or not.)

What’s the quickest way to get money in NMS? [Question]

I’m on my second playthrough because my original play through was on my Xbox, which was stolen awhile ago.

I’m focusing on 1.) rebuilding my fleet 2.) getting frigate modules 3.) making as much $$ as fast as possible to explains my fleet further.

What’s the quickest way you make credits? I mostly make the bulk of my credits and such through fleet missions. Should I start putting more efforts into the scientist missions and such to expand my base and what that can produce?

Side note - My base is built into my freighter this time so I can keep my storage containers and fleet command controls close together. If you do have any advice in terms of base building, just keep that in mind.

Is my save file corrupted? [Bug]

The last time I played nms was may 20th, so its only heen 9 days since i last booted the game up. I started it up, the load screen worked fine, loaded normally, but when the screen flashed to load in the save, i loaded into my workd, and next thing you know the whole screen goes bonkers with a white background, black curcle in the middle, and yellow on the edges, and my exisuit said extreme radiation damage. So i load up my last manual save, and this vudeo is what i got.

You guys may enjoy my endless fall to hopefully this planet [Bug]

So, I was playing last night & fell asleep at the PC waiting for the Quicksilver quest to refresh at the Anonmaly. I woke up an hour later & PC screen had gone to sleep so I got up & went to bed not thinking about it or remembering the game still being on. When I get back on this morning, my entire exosuit & starship inventories are filled with full stacks of Faecium & somehow ive been pushed inside (literally into the center) of the prime terminal on the Anonmaly. Now, realizing what's happened, I find this absolutely fucking hilarious. Great prank. Lmao. Anyway, i tried to jet pack out of the center of the Prime Console & got stuck in mid air, when my jet pack ran out, I fell through the floor of the anonmaly & into space. But life support then rapidly drained, but I didn't die. Just kept slowly falling. Tried to jet back to the anomaly, but to no avail. I left for work after about 30 minutes of falling through space (hopefully towards this planet under me in the picture) & I'm hoping when I get home from work ill have finally landed on it. I tried reloading from my last save but somehow the game saved with me floating through open space & I keep loading back into open space.

& yes, I tried the build menu to see if I could make a base in actual outer space. It wouldn't open :(

Satisfactory - Scratches that itch [Suggestion]

First off, I've logged in probably 1,000 hrs on NMS on various platforms and obviously am a huge fan.

That being said, I've always had an "itch" and finally found something that scratches that itch... well, maybe it's more like meth for people like me. I like... building and upgrading things done in NMS. I've spend endless hours setting up automated mining rigs and connecting them over great distances using wood panels to connect to automatic power. I did that for EVERY mineable mineral and gas and wished I could do more. Heck, sometimes I even wished they would require maintenance so I could have a reason to continue doing stuff. Even though I also had billions in credits I would routinely create more of the exotic sellable items just because I enjoyed doing that.

If you relate to this, go to Humble Bundle and buy the 30% off game Satisfactory. It's what you are looking for. Mine, Manage power. Manage bottlenecks, build things which feeds into other things which build other things. I'm not one to try new games, but this is one of those games that I will likely play for decades. It's not for everyone, obviously, but if you like doing stuff like that it'll pull you in pretty quickly.

HELP! [Question]

Ok. Dont know how to fix this. Ugghh. Was working on the purple star quest. I had it almost done and needed an inverted mirror to bind the thing to the anomoly? I had inverted mirror in my storage at home and warped out to get it.

Well once I got it I went back to the anomaly it says about my destination isn't in this galaxy and says about the lurangxa system. Is there a way to get back to where I need or to restart the quest? Wtf.. I an so sad right now.

So Close, Yet So Far... [Screenshot]

I'm sure this has been done before but... I tried to built a spiral stair case to reach my freighter from the surface. I thought I was actually going to make it until I hit space and my O2 then depletes to fast to continue building. I was able to jump off the freighter and land on the stairs though. Now it's just my Stairway to Heaven base.

Voltei a jogar recentemente, criei um novo personagem e quando cheguei nesta missão não consegui progredir. Pelo que me lembro era só chegar no local e falar com um NPC que iria se negar a ajudar e após isso precisaria melhorar o relacionamento com as raças mas quando chego no local o NPC não está lá, alguém sabe como resolver ou me dizer se estou fazendo algo de errado?

(Já reiniciei o jogo, sai do sistema solar e voltei, esperei um tempo pra ver se ele aparecia mas não adiantou, nem mesmo as naves estão pousando nesse posto)

Is running around an entire planet hoping to find the one single thing you haven't scanned the real best way to do it? I'm being driven insane trying to find the last plane. Cave marrow bulbs all found, 5 surface plants all accounted for, but somewhere there is one left, and it ain't in the caves. I don't know what to do, and it's frustrating. I just lost 1500+ hours of play time. [Bug]

Biggest DOH moment of the day. Playing a newish save (63 hrs in) and the game glitches after jumping through a portal. Tried restarting the game several times and the glitch won’t go away. I can’t upload my previous save point, it just opens to a black screen. Long story short in an effort to try and fix the glitch I deleted my save file. Dumb move. I thought it would just delete that last save, nope it deleted all saved data. Attila of 1500+hours of play time and all expedition progress.

Good news, I love building characters from scratch and expedition redux is only a few months away.

Big face palm.

I will preface this with I haven’t actually bought the game yet because I’m not sure if I should buy it on my PC or my PS5.

I saw they are adding cross save, so does that mean for the same save I can do something like play on my PC when I want to play multiplayer and then move to the PS5 when I want to play alone?

Tiny starships [Video]

I was roaming around in a different galaxy, it was one I teleported to from the anomoly community highlights, and went aboard the space station.i was chilling out there for several minutes, trading some korvax and vykeen gifts, and I saw a c class starship I wanted to salvage for its wings. I did that, and next thing you know, the ships are now coming in and landing, but tiny. I bought the one seen being flown in the video after i noticed, and tried messing around to see what the deal was. I am a fairly new ps owner (never played it before, only sims on pc) I am slowly discovering gaming as my fiance got a ps5 a year ago and for the first time ever I can try it out without being judged that I don’t know how to play. Custom Planet [Suggestion]

I think it would be really cool if Hello Games added the option to create and customise your own planet.

How I think it could work is some kind of mission line where you research how the Atlas creates planets and systems, collecting fragments of planets from their surfaces and giving them to an npc to analyse, and at the end you go to a menu within the Atlas (maybe similar to the starship creator in terms of ui and layout) and choose the different characteristics (colour, terrain, flora and fauna).

When on other planets you could scan different things like plants and animals and add them to a databank similar to the personal records feature that we already have. Then when accessing the planet creator menu, you select the plants and animals you want spawned on the planet (up to a certain amount). After that you could choose the terrain (flat, mountainous, hilly or varied) and whether the planet has rings or maybe even a moon (also customizable).

Once created, you would be transported into space above the planet (in the galaxy you chose to do the mission line in.)

I do understand that a big thing about No Man's Sky is exploring, but this could be implemented as a creative mode or lategame feature (requiring you to do the other main mission lines in survival and instant access in creative mode) so that people still experience the search for the perfect planet.

Help. Stuck in Expedition 18 [Bug]

I started expedition 18 and unfortunately did not get to finish it. The issue now is that the game won't let me summon the anomaly to finish it. I can go back to my primary save from the settings, but when I go to the expedition terminal it only gives me the option to resume the expedition.

I can't start any new expeditions with this and I'm not sure how to get around it.

I did see a post about changing the JSON with a save editor, and I found the section I need to edit, but I don't know what values I need to use.

This is my main save so I'm not super keen on just guessing and fumbling/brute forcing through the JSON. Would someone who has fully completed the expedition share their JSON so I could copy the values?

Or does anyone know where to edit this to progress me far enough to summon the anomaly?

The hunt for great looking ships is never over. I'm about 500 hrs in and collected almost all the parts for every ship type. (i'm happy to help with any part you can't find). It's great Hello games added the cold storage because getting rid of a ship for another was getting very difficult. Would love to see other travelers collections!

Note: The orb was made using a save editor and cannot be found in the wild. The Starborn Phoenix (bottom right) is a limited edition steam gift from Hello games. All other ships have been fabricated or found in the game.

[Survival Mode] Losing inventory after autosave? [Question]

Hi everyone,
I'm playing in Survival mode and I don't understand why this happens: when I exit my starship, the game says it's creating an autosave. But if I turn off the console and come back to the game later, all the items and materials I was carrying are gone.
Any idea what's going on?

Portal interference After Artemis path [Question]

So, Basically I was entering coordinates for a planet in the Euclid galaxy after finishing the Artemis path. When I entered the coordinates a pop appeared that said, Atlas interference, and then it teleported me to a different system on a different planet. Ive a very niche problem

You see im new to NMS and ive got my hands on a interceptor ship. The thing is that while mining with it, i got attacked and it exploded (I died). Im excited for the Next update. I Hope they bring more life to the Planets and more stuff to do on them. Something like new civilizations and societies to explore. I’ve been looking for a game I can relax and explore in, and it seems NMS might fill my cup in that regard.

For a super casual player focused on exploration, almost like the ambient music equivalent of gaming, should I still play on normal mode? Relaxed mode?

Basically I've been a DM at some RPG tables, so if the game offers the option to create your own character I like it to have a story and some purpose in its journey. 1. Image I was at peace in my camp just trying to survive for a few years, a simple life of hunting and exploring. 2. Image After trying to venture a little further into the horizon, to catalog any possible news, I come across a gigantic ship that captures me inside. 3. Image The ship belongs to a small race, despite their size, they attract attention due to their numbers, and upon entering the ship, I realize that I was not the only one to be captured. 4. Image The captain of the ship makes us slaves and forces us to cultivate and care for a Plant called Nip-Nip, and we spend days just planting, harvesting and eating Nip-Nip, over time the taste doesn't even bother us anymore, we just want more and more Nip-Nip. 5. Image After noticing an opportunity, I make friends with some really smart guys, and we come up with a plan to have a conflict and take over the ship altogether. An intense battle takes place, even with some casualties on both sides, we manage to take control of one of the ships and make a Jump far into the Galaxy. 6. Image I made one of my new friends my right-hand man, electing him as Admiral (in fact, his name was already that Sht) to take charge of our ship and we left. 7. Image Now in a new System, a new planet to call home, let's join forces, rise again, and go after those still in the hands of the Shorties for rescue.

I finally did it! I found the gas giants. [Screenshot]

I played the Titan expedition when it came out but I didn't realize that the purple stars didn't carry over to the main save. So, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong when I couldn't find them lol. I then retracted my quests back and found out I had a big hole there. Before even the autophages.

Here I was thinking I was going colorblind. I use the completed main save for building, mostly.

For anyone who's still having trouble - you have to CREATE the purple stars before they'll show in the galaxy map or in your discoveries. It's a huge separate quest line. Good luck!

NPC at Space Station Glowing Outline, can’t interact with them [Question]

I am a new player and i happened upon a Gek npc at my most recent space station stop that i could not interact with. If i approached them they got a thin glowing outline around them but i got no prompts to interact with them. First time this has happened. Also no name visible for them. Anybody know whats up? Has there been any word about cross-save? [Question]

I've stopped playing on my Switch and would really like to get my saves migrated so I can finally get the Starborn Phoenix (I claimed the dlc on steam so in theory it SHOULD be there waiting for me). I'm still getting the 'cross-save is full' message. I don't know if people in the cross-save beta are receiving any info that us unlucky aren't, but worth asking I suppose.

Cannot summon ship in Anomaly [Question]

Hello!

I just found a new Sentinel Ship, claimed it, and flew away in my other ship.
Normally you were then able to summon your other claimed ships in the Anomaly for either scrapping, repairing, etc., but I keep getting an error message with the info 'Ship is critically damaged' and I cannot do anything.

Anyone any advice?

Void created ship? [Question]

Hello, today I was able to create my solar ship from scratch but after several hours of farming I am disappointed I don't know if it's normal but my efforts are not rewarded as much as I expected. My ship only has 14 technology slots (including 3 SC (for an S class)) and 25 cargo slots. In short I was wondering if this was normal or if it was just me who was unlucky

Have freighter battle spawns changed? [Question]

So I have followed the advice of the internet, the pace I trust most for my source of fine knowledge, and I've followed it to the letter. Yet I'm still shit out of luck.

And before you ask, yes it's been longer than 3+ hours since my last battle and yes I've done 5+ warps. Saving each time at a space station.

My issue is I saved, made the jump and landed in a freighter battle. However, it wasn't the freighter type I was looking for. So following instruction I reloaded my restore point and made the jump again. This time however there was no battle and none still 5 warps later.

Am I missing something here?

Wire glitch building not on the same level [Question]

Hello fellow travellers,

today i tried the wire glitch to build a circle base. I can get the platforms to rotate in the ways i want, but they are never on the same level.

Its just some STACKED platforms, so there are those little height gaps when building the floor.

In the turotials it always seems like its on one level and not stacked. Can you deduce from this what my mistake is?

Finding a Base [Discussion]

Am I the only one who really struggles to settle on a planet and build a base there?

I have come across so many beautiful, unique and safe planets, but having a base just doesn't feel right. No matter how cool or amazing a planet is, there's always a better one to go out and find. The reason I love NMS so much is simply because of how great it feels to enter a new star system, touch down on a new planet, or find something new.

Also maybe another reason why is because I own a freighter which keeps me occupied. That's my home, I guess but it's always moving somewhere new.

Anyone else find this?

I just lost my whole inventory at a player's base? [Suggestion]

I went to a featured base from the anomaly thinking something along the lines of "I really want to run into other people out there." I load in, take about 3 steps and die to "anomalous combat." I don't even know what happened, it was just an immediate blackscreen. I'm 95% sure it was called "Ealpha Base" so dont go there unless you want to lose your whole inventory ig.

Mods xbox/pc gamepass version [Question]

I’ve been playing a few days with mods and all worked fine. I quit the game to cook, launched the game and mods don’t work.. all of them, I had no issues before none of them conflicted.

i made a base inside one of those donut tower landscape features. [Build]

i love making bases in this game so much. This is the first time i've uploaded one i think it turned out pretty great :) i colonized the whole landscape structure with caves and rooms so much that it broke the mesh lol. the base is not uploadable anymore because of terrain edits so i don't think it would be there if you warped to it but i will try to get coordinates it anyone wants to try. i tried to post a video tour but it was like 8 minutes long and my internet is bad.

I love to explore space and see cool things but I’m just kinda hopping from star system to system aimlessly. Not really deeply exploring planets, just jumping around looking for anything interesting and landing on friendly looking places. Not much anywhere it seems? Can't summon anomaly [Bug]

It's an older save file, but I have been on the anomaly station before on it. But now the option to summon it is gone, and I can't seem to get it back.

Through save editing I noticed literally every single quest state is set to -1.

In-game the only story mission I have is the base building one

Is there not a thing I can edit in the save file that like, makes the button appear again? I couldn't find anything..

I'm pretty sure I had completed the game with this save file but something seems to have broken.

An appreciation post for my new forever ship. Introducing The Millennium Gummi! [Screenshot]

Arnold Fuzznugget here, this is my first post in this specific community. But I just wanted to show off my new forever ship I made.

It’s an S class custom made Hauler named The Millennium Gummi after my two favorite space vehicles of all time, The Millennium Falcon and the original Gummi Ship!

Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts have truly been the two things that really opened my interest in space/space travel. The thought of visiting new worlds and seeing what lies underneath the skies has always been a really cool concept to me, and it’s so nice to have a game that acknowledges that craving.

I really wanted a ship that felt like it could be piloted by a couple people and carry a few more. Something that could truly feel “lived in”. Those somewhat bigger ships with expansive designs always caught my eye. And this feels like a mash up of two icons in my life growing up. And the Hauler truly lives up to its name in terms of size.😂

The endless ocean, peaceful skies, and vibrant life made me stop and just take it all in. In a universe this vast, finding a place like this is a rare kind of peace.

Pretty Cool [Question]

Has any of your starships ever been this fast? (Serious question) [Question]

TRAVELERS! I have been duping my best stat sentinel, a black and blue dragon fly with tank legs, and then reskinning that sentinel with the boundary, starborn phoenix/runner, and a few others. Anyways, in the process I noticed my main sentinel that I have been duping now goes this fast, I have closed my game entirely and restarted it and it still goes this fast. Has anyone ever had a ship go this fast? I'm not complaining, I'd rather it stay this way, just curious if anyone's had this happen before?

Pulse Splitter? [Question]

So I installed an S-class pulse splitter on my multi tool but how do I use it? When I cycle through my weapon modes by pressing Y (Xbox) all that's showing up is mining beam, terrain manipulator, and boltcaster, but no pulse splitter. What am I missing?

First photo: Storms every now and then, high sentinel activity, extremely extremely earth-like with the CLEAREST skies I've ever seen

Second photo: Clear weather, extremely earth-like, with ring, very very slight slight tinge of pink in the atmosphere but still very earth-like nonetheless, no sentinels, 3 star economy system with low conflict.

I’m basically brand new to the game, I just got to the anomaly and was able to get the economy scanner. I went to my first trading post and an NPC landed with this thing. It looked cool and unique and I know it’s good because it’s an S class, but I haven’t seen any other ships like this and I wanna know if it’s something I should hold on to.

Help, this newbie can't get away from sentinels! [Question]

I've been player for about 10 hrs total, most of which has been spent gallivanting around just looking at things. (Amazing game BTW!) Then last night I found the most beautiful paradise planet you could ever imagine; it was covered in grass, rainbows, peaceful creature, and giant flowers, all without a sentinels in sight. I made it my new home base.

Then today I went looking for an antimatter housing to fix this thingy I found, so I traveled to some other random planet and came across some sentinel pearls, so I took 'em. Then all hell broke loose and I had to fight off a swarm of those little b*stards, but I made it back to my ship and got away. Then they attacked me in the stars, but fought those off too and was able to finally use the pulse drive to get away.

So I thought the fighting was all over and went back to looking for a trader and housings, and came across another "paradise planet" so I landed to take a look, but "paradise" my arse! Long story short, as soon as I landed it's swarming with non-stop sentinels, and I can't get back to my ship to get away. I can't hide from them because the timer for going out of detected mode doesn't appear, and it's just swarm after swarm.

So HELP, what does this newbie do!?

(And sorry if I use any wrong or confusing terms, but I don't know what I'm doing yet...)

Sandworm pet [Question]

Hi everyone. Can anyone please sell me or give me a sandworm pet/egg? I tried to do it myself via save editor but somehow my save is not existent anymore and i started from scratch. No matter I don't regret it i had only 150-ish hours in it but i still i don't have a damn sandworm pet 🙃. So please at least tell me how much you would sell me for so i can at least grind out the money. Hope that one day we can get these kind of pets the "normal" way. Thanks and i am sorry for the long text. Also as far as I am am aware there is only one type of mission you can do solo to earn quicksilver? How do I claim ships? [Question]

Hi, totally new to the game and I'm trying to figure out how to claim crashed ships, I got distress beacon for a ship that said i could clim it. The ship could be repaired with glass, and the game gives me two options fix it myself but if I do the pilot gets upset that I touched his ship and leaves with it. I can also give him the glass so he can fix it himself if he does he gets happy but still leaves. Am I doing something wrong or can I just not claim it?

Solved "base too small" message, but can't access Base Computer archives [Question]

Hi everyone,
I was getting the “base too small” error when trying to load the base or access certain functions, but I solved it by expanding the base with more structures (floor, walls, etc.).

Now the message is gone and I can load the base just fine, but the main mission tells me to “Access the Base Computer archives” — and when I interact with the Base Computer, there’s no option to do that.

Is this a bug or am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

some noob questions [Question]

Good morning to all navigators!!! I have just started this beautiful game and I have a list of stupid noob questions to which I seek an answer, I will start by saying that I am at the point in the game where I have to reach the "center of the universe" here are my questions:

SPOILER ALERT more or less large could be present in my questions (at least I think)

  1. one of my objectives is to obtain robotic parts for the body of my character and I have read around that to do so I have to continue with my current quest, can anyone confirm this for me?

  2. I have always read trying not to make too many spoilers about the story that once I reach the center of the universe my ship will be damaged or destroyed and that therefore it is advisable to do it with a ship that you do not care about that much, is this right? The fact is that I only have one ship (the one that the game gave me) and I do not know where to get others since I am not rich enough to buy one... how should I behave?

  3. still regarding the mission to reach the center of the universe I think I understood that the best method is to use the portals with the glyphs (I didn't understand what coordinates I should put anyway) or to throw myself headlong into black holes to get closer and closer is it correct? any advice on this?

Sulphurine patches [Question]

I was wondering if someone could help.

Im at a "quagmire planet" that lists copper, sulphurine and salt as its resources.

I've spent over 2 hours looking for a sulphurine gas patch using the survey device gas survey mode.

I have only found Nitrogen and oxygen checking every single patch I find

Am I missing something? Or just unbelievably unlucky.

Traded an A class shuttle for a B class Solar. Did I make the right call? [Discussion]

I just got so tired of looking at the fugly shuttle. A solar ship landed and it looked so cool! I had to have it. But now I have fewer tech slots (including 3 supercharged slots that were on the shuttle), less cargo space, and obviously a worse class. It was the right call for me simply bc I liked it, but I wonder if it’s objectively worse than what I had before given the lost space and tech.

In my attempts to infiltrate the Gek culture and root out any remaining First Spawn, I've been trying to learn the entire Gek language. Forever, it said 650 was the max. I reached it and was all excited! Only to find that it keeps on going.

This is probably a dumb question, but… [Discussion]

What do I… do, on planets exactly?

Bought the game in 2019 right when the game was starting to fix its name and actually be considered what it was promised. I had fun for maybe like 60 hours then dipped. The combination of not playing for very long plus six years of updates has left me a little lost getting back into the game.

I get that planets sort of just exist for resources, but what’s the actual reason I should be landing on them for the sake of “exploration” when it’s pretty clear variety is more subtle than in your face in terms of variation. I get that the point of a game like this is “figure out what you want for yourself” but I’m just curious if there’s any reason to spend longer than 5-10 minutes on a planet I don’t want to build a base on.

Help me find a ship like this one [Information]

Apologies! In my haste to get help I posted help trying to find this ships glyphs. I was quickly reminded of my folly as this task would be almost statistically impossible being some Billions of systems in the Euclid galaxy alone. What I am hoping for is a ship like this one from either Euclid or Eissentam. Color does not matter, face does not matter. must have full burners and the tank legs. No Man's Sky 4 Sqare Solar Ship Constuction [Video]

I managed to construct a 4 square supercharged solar ship today by deconstructing 3 solar ships and hoping around stations until I found the correct station. I then recorded it to share with the community. I got the parts from a system very near the galactic center of Euclid called Rolaga-Zao. The glyphs for the parts are: bird bird fish boat sunset eclipse sunset sunset balloon atlas atlas fish.

The system glyphs where I managed to assemble and unlock the 4 square slots are in the attached video.

Today i was playing and was on a planet with a Gravitational Anomaly. I also have my nutrient ingestor using solidified grease pies to get a 315% jetpack tank bonus and decided to see if one can jetpack out of the atmosphere on a planet.

Results: Yes and No. You can get beyond atmosphere (lifesupport starts dropping like crazy, hazard protection gone) but can't get any farther. Here's my stream of me doing this today on my PS5 Pro (sorry about photo mode, love taking photos):

Exocraft & First person driveability (gamepad) [Bug]

I love this game and I love playing in First person. How it is possible that stearing Exocraft in first person is practically impossible?

Since the release of the game, many patches have been released... how is possible that none of the developers noticed about the First person drive issues?

And why cockpit are taking so much space, they should be designed to give visibility on the road, not visibility to the cockpit itself. Why there isn't any option to adjust the seat high and depth?

It would be enough drive the ground exocrafts as the Nautilus.

Space bases [Suggestion]

A small doubt about the discoveries [Question]

Autophage terminal not working. [Question]

I recently arrived at a terminal which lets u fabricate a max damage staff (Havoc Head).

The issue is that once I unlocked it, it didn’t allow me to either exchange void notes or build the staff.

Tried reloading the save point several times, but it didn’t seem to work.

So I’m on a mission for the anomaly and randomly discovered a traveler glyph he said 1 thing then didn’t offer me a memory stone. So are they specifically numbered somehow on acquisition order? always thought you could just get them in any order and it would teach you the next one in line.

Trying to catch all legendary fish- HELP [Question]

Hello all. I am trying to get that one aquarium head with the squid in it, and the only way to do that is by catching all of the legendary fish. I got my list from the wiki, but after catching all of them I haven't gotten the achievement yet.

It took almost 25 minutes to take this picture because the minotaur and my pet robot wouldn't hold still. It was almost like dealing with a couple of kids and I had to settle for the pet robot facing away from the camera like this. I'm worried this is considered a low quality post though since it's just a screenshot and doesn't serve any purpose on the sub-reddit but I wanted to share my blue obsession. Hopefully it doesn't get removed right away. It's taken a lot of hours to get the armor, Wraith, and my adorable pet robot and I'm so happy they were all blue.

Help please [Bug]

Context lighting struck my house fried my PS5 PRO. Ive since started using my old ps5 digital. Upon logging into NMS and downloading cloud storage i have not re acquired my save. I spent many hours building this save into something I was proud of. But I don't know how else to get it back. Can someone please help me?

A couple basebuilds [Build]

I'm a big fan of building on the various "mesa" landmarks that can be found on many planets. Here's a couple of my favorite bases on spots like that.

First set of pictures was a base I decided to make to complete the quest line that involves building the nautilus. Featuring a central tower in the "crater" with attached landing pad/out buildings and a sea level nautilus garage. Not pictured because I guess the upload for the screenshot got boogied, but I also built an amphitheater on the open ground at the back for my foray into learning how to bytebeat

Second set is my most extensive base build yet, and is still something of a work in progress. Mainly a hideaway to grow geknip and other shady botanical pursuits. A fiery hellscape that the sentinels wouldn't dream of searching for illegal grow ops 😁

vulkan "video memory" error [Bug]

So I started playing this game again after a few years and everything has been completely fine up until today where I started getting these "vulkan initialisation" error followed in the error by "your system may not have enough video memory to support the graphics card settings" and for the life of me I cannot figure out why.

for context, I have

4080 super 16gb vram

i9 12900kf 3.20 ghz

64gb ram

i can usually run everything on highest settings with 3840 x 2160 and for the past week i put over 40 hours on this game and everything has been fine. i woke up today and tried to change some of the settings and i started getting this notification with no avail to getting rid of it

ive tried updating my drivers, deleting files recommended by others in other reddit posts, toggling NVidia 3d settings, verifying game integrity twice, reinstalling the game twice also and i still haven't had any luck.

does anyone possibly have a solution to this as i cant find a working fix anywhere

Neutron Cannon upgrade question [Bug]

As the title says, i have several s class upgrades. If I put three with 50 charging, 14 damage and 13 ion speed I get less damage potential than three with 50 charging, 13 damage and 13 ion speed. What is going on?

1ª Nave Calamar [Screenshot]

No tengo video pero espero que mi palabra valga en una comunidad tan hermosa como esta.

Hace unas horas, estaba minando asteroides con tranquilidad cuando una nave que no vi se cruzó frente a mi rayo de fase y empezó a perseguirme, solo entonces descubrí que se trataba de una nave calamar.

La intenté atraer hacia la estación espacial, que estaba a una hora, llamadme fake fan pero me pudo la pereza y huí con el motor de pulso.

1 hora más tarde, después de destruir varios cargeros Vy'keen me dirigí a la estación espacial para vender mi botín cuando, me encontré con la nave calmar atascada en la estructura de la estación espacial.

Disparé a la nave para que me persiguiese y consequí hacer que entrase en la estación espacial y comprar la nave por 48 000 000 unidades.

Ahora os animo a compartir vuestra historia de la 1ª Nave Calamar que conseguisteis.

Trying to get to purple systems [Question]

Basically, I want to go there. Normally, you need to do a bunch of quests and make the motor.

So I looked for options to skip that, cause I like to make a base first before everything else. Old post suggested that the purple systems are there, you just cant see them. That with a frighter you can sometimes spot them or, on the ship, sometimes White lines guides you to a veeeery little spot.

None of those two options worked, or maybe I did It wrong. So I want to get out of doubt.

It is possible to get early to a purple systems, to discover one?

Me in the game today [Question]

I like to start my game by checking all the fleet expeditions that have hopefully returned with money.

I enjoy selling what they've brought back and watching the unit numbers roll up.

But today the voice kept saying "Units Recieved" but the displayed number didn't change at all.

Later, I explored a planet and scanned lots of minerals, flora and fauna. Again I was told I got units but never did.

Is this a temporary bug? Or is there some upper limit to how many units I can earn? I have over 4 billion units.

How do you find them? I finally got through all the lore and quest hopping to unlock the purple stars and now I wanna explore some oceans. Is it best to just look for purple stars labelled “dissonent”? Seems like very few have deep oceans or gas giants, am I missing something?

PS5 - Why does my Freighter change? [Question]

Every time I go inside my freighter on a new session, the layout of rooms and colours are different. I've had rooms with plants in them. Derelict freighter rooms with heaters and egg sacs on the walls, generic sciency rooms with tables, planetary probes, sometimes there's access to the "space deck" and sometimes there isn't. I can't build anything or deploy rooms I've unlocked with modules. It's weird.

This is my first freighter so I don't know if it will stop this nonsense once I figure out how to build custom rooms.

Diagnosed with a rare condition [Discussion]

I had a scheduled checkup with the resident Alien Doctor on my freighter.
He informed me I have Restless Traveler Syndrome; apparently it only exhibits in one out of 3 distinct platforms.
There is a cure though, involving a replacement of an external command apparatus.
Anyone else from my hereditary platform receive this diagnosis as well?

New player, second ever planet seemed to have another new player on it [Discussion]

Played the game for the first time yesterday and once I’d built the portal after starting a base on the second planet it sent me to I saw there was someone else with a small starter base on the exact same planet and it seemed to say they’d been active the same day. Didn’t think much of it till I looked it up later and apparently random encounters like that are actually pretty rare so was wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences since I couldn’t seem to find any when searching it up online.

NO MAN’S ARK – A massive sci-fi sanctuary at the build limit (Now open for player collaboration) [Fan Work]

After over 170 hours of solo work, I’m ready to open up NO MAN’S ARK to the community.

This is my most ambitious project in No Man’s Sky — a massive structure inspired by the idea of Noah’s Ark, reimagined in a sci-fi context. It was built on Uadanjo Sigma and reaches the game’s construction size limit. To make the Ark “float” in the atmosphere, I had to sacrifice vertical height and instead focus on horizontal scale and complexity.

The vision behind the Ark is to preserve not just life, but also history, technology, and knowledge — a last bastion in the stars. The core structure is finished, but there’s still a lot to build: biospheres, archives, crew quarters, labs, internal design — and I want to invite passionate builders to help finish it.

Question about aquadron [Question]

If I install a weapon (like the Infra-Knife, for example — but any other too) and then sell the ship and recruit it to my squadron… will the weapon stay, or does it revert back to the basic one?

I tried it but didn’t notice any difference. Honestly, squadron combat feels purely cosmetic to me… It doesn’t even seem like their attacks actually hit anything.

(Kikolgallr Galaxy) I found planet Namek!!! Blue-green grass, dark green waters, and pink-ish atmosphere. It's a dissonant planet so it's a little more purple than I'd like, but being Dissonant, that means there's a Sentinel ship here, and I'll be damned if it's not Namekian Green!! Coordinates in photos. Coordinates to C-class Sentinel in first person cockpit screenshot. I cannot wait to build a base and explore. PSA: Starbirth's Axentha Portal work around [Information]

Currently, those on the last end of the Starbirth quest where you gather 3 souls then head back to the portal, some asshole built a contraption around the portal that freezes anyone who tries to pass through, making it inaccessible to everybody trying to complete the quest.

Try digging around the "field" using your terrain manipulator, once youre inside the field you can safely go out.

What if Sentinels had in depth, dynamic behavior? [Question]

I’ve been thinking about how cool it would be if the game had more depth in its mechanics, especially Sentinels. (Mainly because I’m fond of them, simply due to the fact I think they’re cool, albeit a nuisance.) Right now, they mostly show up, scan, and attack if you mine or kill stuff. But what if their behavior was more nuanced and reactive? (Yes, I’m aware something like this is likely never going to be added, but one can fantasize 😒)

Here’s a concept I put together, let me know what you think:

Non Aggressive Monitoring: Instead of attacking right away, Sentinels could warn players when they’re being disruptive, giving you a chance to change behavior first.

Adaptive Responses: Their aggression could scale based on what you’re doing. Minor mining would lead to a mild response, mass destruction would lead to a full attack.

Environmental Interaction: Sentinels could heal damaged ecosystems, plant flora, and protect the creatures (maybe even assist them in some ways, like feeding, or tending to them.)

Player Choice: Imagine being able to cooperate or negotiate with Sentinels instead of always fighting them, through peaceful behavior, tech offerings, or research contributions.

Consequences: Encounters could feel like real decisions, not just shoot or run. Help the Sentinels, or resist them, with real consequences.

Long Term Influence: Your behavior could shift how Sentinels treat you across the galaxy. Play peacefully and earn trust, or go full outlaw and face more, harsher patrols.

What do you think, is this something you would want? Is it too much, or could it add more depth and immersion to exploration 😼

Make Your Appearance Better with Proper Colour Schemes [Suggestion]

If appearance is an important aspect for you, let me share you some tip for selecting colours for your character.

There are detail explanations related to colour wheel etc. but let’s not get into that.

The way I do it is simple, by adopting colour combinations of comic superheroes/ villains. They (the creators/ artists) already study them, so they usually match each other.

Here are some examples of my own appearance saves.

I think there’s no need for me to explain which comic characters that I refer to make mine.

Upgrade Module pointers? [Question]

I know a bit about adjaceny and that, and I seem to have discovered that there can only be so many upgrades of a type on one anything, so how do people end up with like 6k maneuverability when I have 600? My launch thruster seemingly recharges itself. How is this possible and how do I duplicate it? [Answered]

This is a solar class ship that I built. There are no components here that charge the launch thruster, but not once have I had to fuel it. The thing under the phase beam is an aqua jet, not a launch auto charger.
I just got an exotic ship and am wondering how to duplicate this recharge feature. Is this possible? Am I missing something?

base CCTV cams 📸 [Discussion]

it would be hilarious to be able to install a security cam on your base that would record when it sees movement or something. i would love to watch footage of someone discovering my base, or be able to watch the feed from my freighter, or get a notification my camera caught something interesting. like a ring doorbell almost lol so i can have fun seeing whats going on in my base while not there or if anyone ever stopped by while i wasnt home

Lost upgrade for multi tool [Question]

Playing on Series X. I bought a new Multi Tool, better than mine. Dismantled my technologies and upgrades, including a grade S scanner upgrade, super useful for me, being 10 hours in the game. I have all my technologies and upgrades in the inventory, but not the scanner upgrade. Is it lost forever? I found it on planet in a damaged machine, not bought it from a merchant.

What is your favorite entity in NMS? (Mine is the Sentinel Walker) [Discussion]

My opinion

While my favorite entity by far is the sentinel walker, because of it's cool animations and audio design as well as it's mechanics, I think it is very unbalanced.

The sentinel walker is supposed to be the end boss of sentinels, which you encounter when Level 5 sentinels are triggered, but I think the Walker is just so weak, especially compared to the Sentinel Hardframe Battle Mech which appears in wave 4 or at sentinel pillars. Hardframe Battle Mech vs. Walker

The Sentinel Hardframe Battle Mech has lots of health, quick and has a wide variety of weapons for melee and long range. The 2–3 grenades it shoots in particular can deal tons of damage, especially if you don't have a lot of experience with the battle mech and if you just don't have a lot of shield upgrade modules. Something that is also overlooked sometimes is that the mech, compared to the sentinel walker, can get repaired by repair drones which can be super frustrating if you forgot to take out all of them beforehand.

Now, while the sentinel walker also has a few different weapons, it's main weapon it uses pretty much all the time is the laser. Instead of locking on to you like the Quad, it chooses two points with you in the middle, where it swings the laser around which hits you most of the time, but only for a brief second. The sentinel walker also has more health, but this doesn't help much since when you destroy it's leg armor, the walker becomes inactive for a solid 10+ seconds. You can do this twice since it obviously has two legs and this gives you enough time to regenerate, recharge your weapons or just start shooting it's head. My suggestions for the Sentinel walker

Those were the balance changes I personally would do if I couldn't balance the other sentinels like the battle mech. Reduce the time the sentinel walker is inactive when the armor is...

For pet Hunter, Here's a Nice found I did yesterday... A really big beetle (look at my size riding it). It's all over the planet and are easy to get. I'll try make him bigger with some eggs... Let's see!

To make it clear, the hole in the world was there when I parked my space ship on the mountain, but it disappeared when I got farther away. When I got close again, it reappeared. This whole planet has a lot of holes as of my current game today (last time I was there a few days ago). There are several player bases there, this location was shared some time ago. It's a purple system in Euclid.

Mineral Extractors Confuse Me [Question]

These things are a huge hole in my NMS knowledge. I found an S class salt deposit so I want to build up a nice mine there. I have put down five extractors and have noticed that moving them around the area affects how much they extract. I got them all to produce around 430/hr. Then I hooked them up and connected them to a resource depot which shows it will store 2500 salt. But after that I noticed the extractors are now producing roughly half per hour than before I added the depot. Do I need more depots? Out did I do the pipe connections in the wrong way? My Abandoned Mode autophage is no longer alone! Meet Cho-Ko and Fuzzy! :) [Screenshot]

I finally completed the Living Ship quest and after some reloading settled on a brown anvil head to go with the rusty look. Looked more copper on the planet I found it on, but in reality it's light brown, still fine. Getting a fully armored anvil head was the goal because I never had one before. Found a pretty pastel colored one as well but decided pastel is not the look I want for this savefile. I intend to get more Living Ships eventually.

The biggest challenge was getting the glyphs for the portal step. Had to look up how to get traveller graves from a specific Nexus mission.

I have found fauna only on one planet so far and decided to adopt this little badger type.

(Yes, I did use the savegame editor to unlock the autophage poncho which is not available in this mode, sadly. Otherwise he's put together from legit Expedition rewards. Relic arms and bug legs and bug jetpack.)

Point-to-Point Teleports [Suggestion]

Often I see really cool bases and wish to be able to see other works from the same author. It would be cool if devs could add some kind of point-to-point teleporter able to link bases in some kind of personal network. No selection, you just walk in and go on the other side after the warp animation.

Stuck On "The First Traveler Quest" [Question]

Well, thinking about it a little more in depth and taking into account Sean's posts in recent days, I've been thinking about how bacon fits in in a way that is not so obvious at first glance.

One might think that this is an update to food (because bacon is a food) but if we look at the word BACON we can see that it resembles another word with a peculiar use...

BACON has almost all the letters of the word BEACON , so what could this mean?

Well, Sean quoted a news story a few days ago about a boat crashing in a backyard, and it's no coincidence that he specifically cited that.

So my bet is that this is a naval update, which would add seaworthy ships and ocean pirates (things LNF could have)

Group Items Needed in Building [Suggestion]

It would be great if we could group building items together. This is useful whn you build something complex and you want to move it somewhere else. It's something I liked from Fallout 4's building system, and to my knowledge it's not available in NMS. Future update maybe?

I’m still seeing a lot of people asking why their glyphs aren’t working. I know probably >90% of players are aware of the following info. So this is for the

If glyphs are returning a “location corrupted” message, and you are sure you are in the right galaxy, you may not have access to purple systems yet. To access purple systems, you will need to complete the new(ish) “In Stellar Multitudes” quest line. It was included in the January 2025 “Worlds Part 2” release. These new systems brought us gas giants, water worlds, relic planets and more. They are a great addition to the game and I highly recommend unlocking them if you are able.

And before the trolls come to criticize people for not knowing this, please remember not everyone plays the same. Some people just like to hop on NMS for a quick jaunt through the galaxy. Thats what makes this game so great.

(Trying hard to avoid spoilers; apologies if I didn't)

One of my coworkers sent me the glyphs to his home base, so I found a spot about 2000u away and became his next-door neighbor. Found this guy a few paces away from my EMG array... and immediately got scared. The question marks in the alt text gives me flashbacks of my first (and last, so far) Whispering Egg.

Anyway, looking up Juicy Grubs on the NMS Wiki tells me that this is nothing I would particularly want or need unless I started getting into fishing or cooking - haven't gotten there yet. 11K units/ea doesn't sound like it's worth the real estate in my inventory. "Crushing" the Larva in my inventory sounds exactly like what I don't want to. (Yep. Just saw a YouTube video about these. That's a big NOPE.)

So unless these things are absolutely necessary to complete the game or earn an achievement, I'm thinking why buy trouble? I'd normally avoid this kind of thing because eww... but they won't do me any harm if, for example, some griefer gives me a stack of them in the Anomaly as a joke (I end up with so much weird shit in my inventory whenever I go there anymore) as long as I don't crush them, right?

Should I restart? [Question]

I haven't played the game for about a year or more and just came back. I have a hard time getting in to the game and forgot a mechanics and in general what do in the game. I have no Idea what to do. Does HDR make the game look worse? Or am I doing something wrong? [Question]

Decided to try playing the game on my family’s 4k 120hz OLED HDR TV, and overall it looks awesome. However, when I turn on HDR, it seems to make things look worse. Specifically, the colors look much better and pop out more, but the bright areas of the screen are so bright that I can’t really see what’s there, and it kind of ruins the entire image. Here are some pictures for examples.

When I play in HDR on my PC monitor (yes it actually has HDR), it looks so much better and doesn’t brighten areas so much that I can’t see anything. For those wondering, the TV is the LG OLED55C1AUB. Great TV. Is there a setting I’m missing or something I’m doing wrong? I feel like HDR wasn’t meant to blind you with brightness.

Suggestion: Rare Space Dock to upgrade freighter class. [Suggestion]

Just a suggestion for an update: Would like to see a rare find/occurrence where we can find a space dock capable of upgrading freighter class. Maybe in a rare hidden system, or tied to quest, or maybe even one of the random occurrences? Finding huge automated nanite factory that if you feed it the nanites this spacedock knows how to upgrade the freighter systems (and maybe other materials) to a higher class.

I don't know, lots of other possibilities that fit the lore, but might open up game to us being able to upgrade more of the interesting looking system freighters and not hoard all of the cargo bulkhead expansion slots until we get our final, usually S-class, freighter.

There's a problem with my system [Question]

I am mainly in a system near the Euclid center called Nilwauk-Yorca. I discovered this system and all of its 4 planets and 2 moons 3 years ago, but apparently 3 months ago somebody rediscovered all of my planets and one of the moons, and now 5 places in the system say they were discovered by that person. Now I don't have credit for discovering these planets and am unable to rename them, allowing that person to rename them to anything they want. Is there any possible way to fix this so that I am credited for my own discoveries?

I just got the game maybe 3 days ago and was gifted 11 void eggs so i followed a yt video on how to hatch them and get the living ship. When i got to the portal step i realized i already had every glyph but i just got the game. My friend who has been playing the game for a while only has 2 that he got from a traveler. Is it possible to supply a nearby base with electricity from another one? [Question]

Let me summarize the situation a bit; I have a base that produces almost infinite electricity because it's a good area for an electricity generator. I want to connect the generator from the base that generates electricity to the one that does not produce any. I manage to connect the wires together very well, but electricity does not flow between the two bases. There is indeed electricity circulating, but nothing passes between the two bases (which belong to me). Is there a way to get it to pass to the other side? 🙏

While many of us tend to lurk quietly on our subreddit, I wanted to share the latest base added to our home system, Qitand-Tus (EUCLID). If you haven't visited us yet, I encourage you to do so. Not only are we located one hop from Euclid's galactic core, we have some amazing bases for your touring pleasure.

This newest base is called "Erudite Research Facility," which is located on Hemiti R32 in Qitand-Tus (EUCLID). This small base is dedicated to the research of autophage technology and atlantideum ("purple glass"), and is conveniently located between TWO crashed freighters on either side of the facility. The base features a quarantine lab, staff quarters, a modest lounge, and an extensive workshop. The facility also houses a boundary stabilizer to keep the atlantideum under study contained. Feel free to stop by and visit with the local autophage (if you've done their story mission). Glyph coordinates (Euclid galaxy) are in the screenshot.

Repetitive planets and flora/fauna kinda bugs me... [Discussion]

Like I said... KINDA bugs me, it's not a HUGE deal. The game is amazing! It seems almost inevitable with the amount of galaxies, planets,and systems in the game, that you'd start seeing the same ones, it's kind of something they couldn't help doing, but it is a little disappointing having gone to over 15-20 systems(I work a lot of hours at my job and stay in one system for a while, don't judge haha) and seeing the same exact fauna, flora and even planet designs. I know this happens because, like I said there's way to many locations not to do it, and also they used a certain algorithm/formula/program, when creating the game, that just mass creates and shits out planets and star systems, over and over. Just a small gripe but.... Yah🫤 Great game nonetheless. Only thought of this rant because I saw someone post a picture of a fauna, asking if anyone had ever seen it before, and I immediately thought... Yes.... Yes I have seen it before..... WAY TOO MANY TIMES IN FACT 😭🤦🏾‍♂️🤣🤣

Okay after a long hiatus of thinking everything out and everything I am now ready to do this okay so first things first hello I am solar you can call me solaren if you want but I am grand high archon of the solstice empire hello and welcome to the look the meme the oo ah sensation that is the solstice empire so I've had some questions that were asked before in previous times but I'm going to explain fully what it is that makes this empire my precious gem so in high school I made a fan made Pokemon that is now part of my twitch mascot stuff and her name solara she is a pygmy goat fairy ethereal being and she's the universe itself she's able to change her like form slightly to accommodate cosmic bodies and control energies of the universe and I've just had this inkling for the solstice empire nothing really bad about it they base it off of like more of the arts in this empire and everything it's going to be really chill and I sort of wanted her to have her spotlight time cuz like I had tried to turn this creature into a Pokemon before turned like shifted in and they never used it or at least the person I sent it to I don't think really sent it to them cuz I didn't know how to do that at the time but there's going to be captains for exploration those captains will also have sub commanders which are going to be real people I just need to recruit a lot of people we're going to have architects for building and merchant work and officers for defense for everybody just in case we get some crazy people trying to take us over you know so with that being said I really will enjoy everyone's time everyone can ask questions if you have more questions about each individual class what they are going to be doing more in depth what's going to be asked of you and like if you can do anything else other than that class which you can there's just going to be like a daily task thing for each class...

Power Requirements [Question]

Discovered that I still have my first base that I constructed from the early time of the game. But, I also discovered that it's a Roach Motel. Everything is in powered including the warp gate. I thought I could attach a bioreactor to it and it would become operational.

So the question is how much power do I need?

I used a prior save to leave, so I'm not stuck, but would eventually like to return home.

M4 Mac Mini gamers… [Question]

Just changed over from Xbox and would like to see what graphics settings you folks are using WITHOUT raising the heat too much.

I ran at full blast graphics settings and 60fps and the Mini decided to get a bit too hot for my liking.

This is NOT a machine I use primarily for gaming, so NMS is a relaxation game for me from work.

I’m currently at 60 degrees with 35fps and Standard Graphics settings. (2024) M4 16/256

A word of caution for giant bases [Discussion]

Hey all, I just deleted a base that I'd spent several hours on because I didn't plan ahead. I'm sharing my experience so others can avoid it.

It was a massive pyramid made of cuboid rooms with curved glass sides, with a base of 17x17 units. My plan was to turn it into a mega-farm. I hadn't considered the power situation though. Cuboid rooms themselves consume power, so by the time I started installing hydroponics trays the demand for electricity was already above 6,000 kP. I installed scores and scores of solar panels but gave up when I realized I'd need at least 120 solar panels and a ton of batteries for nighttime as well, and that's just to keep the power from going out.

Plan ahead! Look for electromagnetic hotspots if you want to make giant bases. I am never gonna make that mistake again!

What is your approach to power management?

Quick repair function [Suggestion]

It would be so nice if pressing a button instantly repaired an item the player has all of the ingredients for.

When you’ve got a save going for a while, you’re able to buy things in bulk and you usually save enough materials in freighter storage to complete multiple repairs at once. Having to open another menu interface to repair tech feels like a bit of a chore when you do it repeatedly. Slowly repairing a ship as you gather materials is satisfying, but fixing multiple components with banked ingredients after combat doesn’t feel so good.

Has anyone ever encountered this bug? I've played about a thousand hours since launch and this is the first time I've come across this bug. I first arrived at this train depot and there were no ships at all to be seen. I thought that was pretty odd, and then I noticed underneath the trade Depot there were three ships glitched into the structure. So I took some pictures, the naturally I jumped in my ship jumped out and restored the save point. At first the ships did come in although it seems like some of them fell out of the sky. I didn't think much of it. Then some ships came in and landed on the landing pads as normal. But then one took off, then what happened next was pretty funny. I don't know if I'm the only one that can experience this glitch here, what happened multiple times reloading the restore point. So you're welcome to come and visit the planet and see for yourself if this glitch works. Leave a comment if you visited and tell me if it's glitched for you.

Can I abandon my previous settlement and start the quest on a better planet? [Question]

So I started the settlers quest stupidly without thinking on a hell-hole of a planet in Euclid, decided to ignore it, and continued the main story.

Now I'm in the Hilbert dimension and want to find a new settlement on a paradise planet so I can get my friendly drone and sentinal mech pieces. But how do I abandon my previous settlement and start the quest new somewhere else?

Somehow NMS is still surprising me [Screenshot]

700+ hours in, and I'm still occasionally finding new things.

During a recent adventure to catch and cook every fish, I landed on a seemingly normal Radioactive planet and discovered that it was home to 300u + deep oceans. That's an absolute first for me, outside of oceanic worlds.

Pictured here is my fishing platform - after the first few storms, I got the memo and built up higher than I usually would. Even still, I get swept by the occasional rogue wave. 😁

I've been trying to get an S-Class version of this Sentinel Dreadnought Freighter from this Pirate Fight for quite a while, and all I'm seeing is the same class. C. I've been reloading on an outside galaxy and warping into the one with the freighter, fighting the pirate ship over and over.

Does the class actually change with them in this method or no? Or was that a feature that was removed? I need an answer before I retry this fight, or at least a method that would work.

No Man's Sky VR crashing randomly through Virtual Desktop [Bug]

I'm using a Quest 2 through Virtual Desktop. I'm running the game on High textures and High base quality with everything else on enhanced. My graphics never seemed to change how often the game crashed. It happens every 10-15 mins. My crash error is just the normal windows (this program has stopped responding). I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or if theres some glitched thing with the newest driver.

Modding NMS to feel more like actual space [Question]

Curious if anyone else has thought about this. Ilove NMS, but space feels... small.

Would it work to mod in:

-More distance between planets

-A step engine for gradual space speed instead of instant zoom

-Planets that aren't packed like overstuffed sausages with flora and fauna

-Actual orbit around star (I know this one is more difficult)

Mainly for immersion AND better performance. Right now it feels like every planet is hosting a biodiversity rave.

Anyone else into a more desolate, slower-paced vibe? Didn't Hello Games include a modding tool in one of the recent updates?

NMS free Apollo figurine. [Bug]

I think I may have found a bug/cheat on the PS4 version of NMS (i'm new to this so I hope its not previously been mentioned).

I recently spent Quicksilver on the Apollo figurine however when I realised it did nothing to my ship stats I restored my game to the point just before purchase. I then went to purchase the Null figurine instead and saw "Available" by the Apollo figure. I was then able to purchase the Null figurine and get the Apollo back for free. Although the Apollo figurine doesn't seem to do anything, its still a nice freebie.

How long does cross-save queue usually last? [Question]

Hi! I've been in queue for cross save for over two months now and still nothing. I heard for others it lasts from 3 to 4 weeks usually. Do you think it's taking so long because I'm not actively playing in the meantime? At the moment I can not play on playstation anymore so I have to wait they pass my save over to steam but still nothing after all these weeks. Has someone an idea why it's taking so long?

Recommended mods [Question]

Hello, do you know of any mod that improves stability and optimization? I have to restart the game every time I visit several planets or change graphic settings because the fps drops to 10 and the graphics are at 99% use. I have an RTX 3060 mobile, I can move everything in high quality with planet quality and tessellation in ultra with dlss in quality at 60fps, it is ruined with the aforementioned, not even setting settings to standard will restore the framerate, it just goes wrong with this game. Even with good performance, I notice a very marked pop-in and would prefer longer rendering distances

Why don't my spheres (planets, bubbles, etc.) render a smooth round shape anymore? [Question]

Hey all! Ever since the Worlds 2 update, some of my spheres look like this. (mostly large spheres like this bubble or a gas giant). Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?
Graphics settings are currently all on Ultra, but they were lower before Worlds 2 came out. I've also upgraded my GPU in the past month and the result is the same. I would assume higher quality would give better results... but maybe not? Is this a game engine issue or my settings? Any advice is appreciated!

Bonjour tout le monde, j’ai commencé No Man’s Sky il n’y a vraiment pas longtemps (j’ai le vaisseau de base sans composants spécial), je voulais explorer une nouvelle planète, quand je suis rentré dans l’atmosphère, j’ai vu qu’il n’y avait que de l’eau sur la planète avec quelques morceaux de terre où il n’y a RIEN, j’ai besoins de poussière de ferrite pour décoler et la seul chose que je pourrait décomposer serait le scanner (je ne sais pas si on peut le reconstruire après) et j’ai passé des heures à explorer les fond aquatique et il n’y a AUCUN rocher qui me permet d’en récolter. Il y a des tempêtes extrême très fréquemment ce qui m’empêche d’aller explorer vraiment loin. S’il vous plais aidez-moi !!

I tried to look up if someone had a similar encounter, but I only found a post with a trade outpost spawned inside a mountain, which could be carved, but I'm totally blocked. Void egg bug [Bug]

Recently got a void egg from a dude in the anomaly. Got the ship all good but now every single anomaly detector gives me a living ship and i dont have another egg so its worthless. Until crosssave I was trapped alone in my NMS universe because I never had PSN. I never bothered looking out online (reddit) because it didn't seem like it mattered in my pocket universe. On top of that there was nothing but such hate and vitriol for the game when it released I just didn't want to be part of it. I loved my solo minecraft in space game and all the features it shipped with... well, maybe not so much scanning crystals on every planet but hey, nothing is perfect. There have been many updates.

I waited so long for crosssave, and it was so thrilling to go to the anomaly on my computer and see all these people. Trading, admiring each others ships and cosmogs and pets.... It felt like a huge breath of fresh air.

Then I started looking for online communities and found this one. What you all have built is really amazing to me and I'm so glad this wonderful gem of a game has such a great community behind it. Thank you for creating it, and thank you for letting me join it all these years later.

How to keep track of systems and space stations [Question]

I've been playing for a little while now, and since I keep seeing posts about new information the game never tells you like the npc ship wave mechanic, I thought I'd ask here. Is there any way to tell which station goes with which system, short of just taking notes somewhere? I started visiting the space station in every system I went to "just in case I needed it" and now I just can't really find anything.

Uninformed Decisions [Discussion]

I am a new player. Just picked up the game a few weeks ago. Maybe the game is designed this way, but I always feel like I am making a dialog decision completely randomly. Like I have no information that would help me know which decision I should make. Or what the outcome of any of the decisions will be. Like right now, I just warped to a new system. All of a sudden I get a starship alert that asks me to decide, Run autodiagnostic? Verify system integrity? View fragmentation map? Up to this point in the game (as far as I know) I have learned nothing that would help me make this decision or know what will happen depending on what I choose. Does anyone else get these decisions and feel the same way? Or am I just not paying attention and it is obvious what I should choose? Or does it not really matter and it is just color dialog to make things less monotonous?

So I got another ship? weird glitch/exploit? [Bug]

Hey guys, well I'm very new to the game.

This is my first time playing and I was doing a mission abt the rescue signal where I land on a planet and find a damaged vessel

The vessel was an A class ship
I started fixing it but had to leave the planet to gather some resources
After a long grind I returned and when I entered the ship all the progess was gone and well, turns out the ship kinda cloned? I guess that's what happened.

So now I have like two ships that needs fixing, the progess on the first one is saved and I'm nearly done.

And basically now I have three ships

I was wondering if that also happened to someone else

And well what should I do now? I'm open to suggestions.
My plan I guess is to fix both and maybe sell one

Came back to NMS after a long time and… what in the actual space magic is this game now?! [Discussion]

Fired up No Man’s Sky on PS5 after a long break and honestly… I’m stunned. I expected maybe a few updates, a new ship or two — not a completely transformed universe. Clouds? Gas giants? FISHING?! When did this turn into a cosmic mashup of David Attenborough and Cyberpunk 2077.

It genuinely blows my mind how much Hello Games continues to pour into this masterpiece — for free. No battle pass. No overpriced cosmetic packs. Just constant, high-quality content from a team that clearly cares deeply about its players. It still feels like a passion project, and that's so rare these days.

Starting fresh has been a total joy. There’s so much I remember and love… and so much I don’t recognise at all. Half the time I’m wandering around with childlike wonder, the other half I’m frantically mashing buttons trying to remember how to charge my hazard protection before a storm melts me into space soup.

Honestly? Best game ever created.

Miniguide to get rich scanning fauna [Information]

I have decided to put together a mini guide about how to get "rich" solely by scanning fauna. It did not know this was possible before I had many hours under my "No Mans Sky" belt.

The short story is that with just the the scanner + plus 3 s-class scanner upgrades, which just have the minimum numbers, and ingesting certain foods in the exosuit nutrient ingestor, you will get anywhere between 7 - 21mil credits per fauna scan!

The math:

In the following I will always use the lowest possible numbers, so you will never get disappointed and have lower values :-)

Mineral, flora and fauna has a base scan credits value. That is the value you get from scanning the item with just the scanner in a non-super-charged slot. The base value of mineral is 200, flora 500 and fauna can have 4 different values depending on rarity and - I suspect - also the extremity of the planet. I have seen 1000, 1600 and 3000 as base scan for fauna, but there should be a lower one as well, that I have not seen myself, when I set out to do the math.

A single s-class scanner upgrade gets you anywhere between 6500% and 10000% higher scan value. That means our scan of fauna with base scan 1000 now gives us 1000x65 = 65000 credits as lowest value. You can have 3 of these upgrades and the values are cumulative and not multiplicative (that would be insane!). So 3 upgrades with minimum value gives you - again using 1000 as base value - 1000x(65+65+65)=195000.

Certain foods (anomalous doughnut, mucal curiosity and gooey screamer) gives you above 60000% again and this is multiplicative! on the scan value. So with the last number. 195.000 x 60 = 11700000 credit.

All of this is just with the lowest numbers and no adjacency bonus and supercharged slots factored in yet. With a single supercharged slot and just using the standard square adjacency + the scanner harmonizer adjacent to the best...

meta quest 3 question [Question]

I finally tried to get NMS to work on my Meta Quest 3. I've got steam VR and quest link (Using a cable). But when ever I start the game, its doesn't take long for it to crash, seconds as soon as i get into the world. Geforce overlay is disabled and I have the resolution set to 80%. I can't figure out what to do next.

Frigate module farming [Question]

So I've taken up the blag flag in my black Sentinel ship and am hunting the good guys cargo pods for freighter upgrades.

Is there a way to make it so I don't have to be right on top of the pod to see whats in it? Ive looked for black market scan modules here in pirate space and im seeing nothing. Do I not have something installed properly? Or am I using the wrong type of ship to do this work?

Why’s the game so buggy currently? [Bug]

I know it’s probably due to there being alot of large updates recently, and my base is quite large also, but 8/10 times I load up the game now I’m having reload the game 2 or 3 times before it works, and constantly clipping through the surfaces I’m stood on or building and structures won’t load in and I’ve had to back track on a lot of additions I’ve made because of this. I don’t doubt these issues will be fixed, Does anyone know of the next patch update?

What quests are there after the main storyline? Looking for a complete list and what triggers them. [Question]

Hey folks,

I’m a fairly casual player with limited gaming time, so I’d really love to make the most of the story content in No Man’s Sky. I’ve already finished the main Artemis storyline and the Atlas Path.

Now I’m wondering—what other quests or storylines are out there beyond these? I’d love to hear what triggered them for you, or if there are specific conditions I need to meet for them to start (location, reputation, items, etc.).

This is more of a general call for brainstorming and inspiration: What’s out there after the main stuff? What side quests or hidden stories should I not miss?

My new main base [Screenshot]

My best base so far. Citadel with central park, nice museum, hotel, church, temple of Atlas, spaceport, power station, industrial area with storage of 3 different resources, disco bar and public teleport. All in ~2400 parts. Located on the same "Luna Paradiso" planet of the Apothecary reachable from the Anomaly. It is named "No Man's Museum". That system is very crowded, loading is a bit slow...

Getting settled on Lowella~ [Small early-base Image collection] [Screenshot]

First time I'm building anything big in NMS - I did look into a lot of videos and other people's ideas on this and came up with.. A little something ^^'

I'll try to eventually make the landing pads feel more supported, although my initial idea was to make them look as if they have propulsion.. Not a lot of success with that yet. I did however yoink that one alternate landing pad design I've seen a bazillion times.

Got a lot of exterior work, a few additional buildings and lighting planned, so things should still evolve quite a bit O:

Also can I mention how much I love the scale glitch? Look at those storage crates, they're adorable! Gonna try to give that room some extra love at some point, too c: I think it has potential.

I think my biggest issue right now is the wall tiles... gonna have to get some variance in there. But I'll probably plaster it with decoratives instead. (Which probably makes more sense in this kind of building system anyway O: )

Is it possible to get a venator without saving it from pirates [Question]

Early on in my playthrough I saved a bad freighter from pirates because I didn’t know you could keep trying for a better one. I’m trying to replace it now, but all the freighters I find are similar to mine. Is it possible for better venator freighters to randomly spawn or am I just not going to be able to get one on this save?

I base that I abandoned years ago, miraculously reappeared. [Screenshot]

Around three years ago I made a base so high in the sky, that I would lose health if I climbed up to the second level. I took this picture to show how high it is. I summoned my freighter, to show how close the base is to it.

I adjusted it to where I wouldn't lose health anymore, and started the task of furnishing it. I was placing solar panels on top of it, and for some strange reason it disappeared while my traveler was on it. All that was left was a teleporter, and a save beacon. I fell all the way to the ground, but luckily I was able to use my jetpack to save me.

I would up making a new base in the sky, but it was lower in the atmosphere. I was able to delete my teleporter from my old base because when I would teleport back to the planet, it would have me standing on top of it. The save beacon stayed, and it annoyed me so much because I could never delete it.🤣

I visited my base today, and noticed that some old parts that I deleted from it years ago had reappeared. After I deleted the old pieces, I just happened to look up at a group of ships flying by, and saw my old base. I couldn't believe it. I flew up to it to check it out, and I finally got to delete that save beacon.🤣

I'm currently deciding if I should delete it or keep it. It doesn't interfere with my other base because they're so far away from each other, that they have their own separate base computers. I just don't need two of them in eye's distance of each other. Maybe I'll just keep the original abandoned. Just to add to the planets lore.

Inside underwater bug [Question]

I am getting back into the game and I Always loved underwater bases. I finally unlocked purple star systems and before I start building

That bug where the game can't calculate if you are inside. Like walking down a hallway and you randomly swim or get splashed.

Is that still a thing?

On my 3rd playthrough after purposely deleting all saves (more than 1200 hours since 2016) [Screenshot]

I don't know why I don't see more people saying similar things. When I maxed out my fleet (to 30 frigates) I was very happy, and one of my favorite things to do for a while was to summon my fleet and record the whole thing jumping in as in the screen shot. Then I was happy when I found my giant S Class freighter, and after that when all my frigate advanced to S Class. Got bored with God status for a bit. Living ships kept me in it a bit longer, but it was kinda boring because I had nothing to do while waiting for all the things to mature. Then further updates came and I didn't do much with them, so when I updated to a new gaming system I purposely didn't port the saves over. Second time I let some updates build up for about a year and a half, but even when I went back there wasn't much to do while I figured out the fossils, or dismiss a bunch of S-Class frigates...I'll cut to the chase...NMS is no fun after achieving God status...it's like people who complete a jigsaw puzzle and then glue it together and hang it on the wall. It's just a mundane picture with weird lines celebrating a challenging but mundane achievement.

Just Picked Up On Switch. Tips/Suggestions? [Information]

Hey! So I just got the game today, waiting to get off work later to start, I was wondering if y'all had any starting out tips?

I've played it a little on Xbox Game Pass like 2-3yrs ago, maybe 10-15hrs max. I got the itch for some space exploration and decided to go portable this time and got it for my Switch. I don't really remember much of anything other than that I liked playing as the little goofy Gek(?) alien. So I am essentially brand new again.

Best way to earn nanites in abandoned mode? [Question]

5 hours in, and I have 1m units and first glyph. Going through base computer to get upgrades. Using anomoly.

But what's the best way to get nanites? No pirate stations to buy/sell for nanites like I do in other save modes.

Mold farm?

Find a dissonant planet and stock up on radiant shards to sell? Sounds dangerous given my current C class everything.

Exocraft cockpits [Discussion]

So after roughly 400 hours, it finally dawned on me to look and see if there’s a cockpit view for Exocraft…and there is!

Mind. Blown.

Controlling it is absolute ass compared to 3rd person, but I don’t even care. I’m now living out my 1980’s childhood Robot Jox fantasy, courtesy of the Minotaur.

The possibility to jump in someone else starship as a passenger.

Possibility to create teams of max 5 people and share/build a base (max 15k pieces) that is owned by the team

Private trade terminal: you can sell your items and other players can buy from you

Private missions: you can list missions for other players and give prizes in exchange

Letter box: you can have a letterbox in your base/settlements and other players can leave a message once the visit

Crossbreeds companions you can make a new companion with the genes of 2 different type of animals

Deadly galaxy: a galaxy where you can actually destroy bases, start wars, and steal items from other players: once you go inside the galaxy the game mode turn permadeath automatically

When did it become so easy to farm S-class freighter upgrades simply by attacking ANY freighter? [Discussion]

All advice centers around derelict freighter run in previously discovered Shclass seed system with the sidenote that the rarer dreadnaught pirate battle rewards an upgrade for destroying vs disabling the ship when in fact even the smallest freighter awards the same. So in any given system aside from uncharted/abandoned you can easily get 5 or more in a matter of minutes just from that random freighter cluster that pops in. Then find another and rinse repeat. Basically any freighter that has a shield awards one so easily erase it's shield with cyclotron in seconds then annihilate the ship in a couple more seconds with infra-knife (I didn't test thoroughly but seemed if I snuck under the shield leaving it up while disintegrating just the hull didn't always award but could be mistaken and the combo is funner). Biggest bit of advice is that now since even in pirate systems you lose standing you should avoid destroying cargo pods, just attack the hull and you lose only a single lifeform standing point instead of one per cargo pod plus the ship. So the only drawback aside from the Outlaw lifestyle for those preferring to be an upstanding citizen of the universe is the 1 standing point lost per S-class but this is easy to recoup (they are very forgiving) and if you pick a system of any lifeform you've already maxed standing above 100 then it's totally free as the excess offers no other game benefit aside from turning free out low late game.

I only discovered this after getting half of my upgrades filled with derelict runs that's till take a couple minutes each following the most commonly discoverable advice so wondering why this approach which I'm sure others have already found is not more widely published.

Mods to make the HUD cleaner and more immersive for a non-VR player? [Question]

Hi,

TLDR: Are there any mods that help clean the HUD and UI? (For non-VR gameplay) There's a lot of stuff I would prefer not to see all the time while playing, such as mission info for example. I would prefer to only have the absolute necessary (oxygen, thermal) in the HUD and nothing else.

I searched and found some mods that clean the HUD but they are mostly for VR players. I only play on desktop (non-VR).

Long Version (Explanation): I recently started playing NMS, I played some hours and I'm loving the game. But after playing The Witcher 3 with a dynamic HUD (mostly HUD-less except during combat), I can't stop but notice all of the icons and info permanently floating around in the game, such as mission descriptions and stuff I would prefer not to see. I checked in the options, and my choices are either playing with the HUD showing everything, or the HUD completely off. I understand in this game, some of the parts of the HUD should not be disabled at all during gameplay (such as oxygen levels, thermal protection). By the way, I did suggest this to Hello Games, but in my research I found some reddit posts where people said they already suggested that (years ago), so I'm not very hopeful on this end, so I decided to find some mods instead.

Rainbow Robot Resort [Screenshot]

So excited to finally share Rainbow Robot Resort! Unfortunately it's over 5000 base parts so I can't upload it :( So please enjoy these photos instead (click the imgur link for all pics)! There are 6 beautifully decorated villas on the beach, one for each colour of the rainbow - 2 single suites (red and green), 2 couples suites (orange and blue), and 2 family suites (yellow and purple). Let me know which one is your fave!

When you first arrive you'll find a beautiful landing pad, lobby and checkin area complete with a rooftop bar, a gift shop, and several colourful seating areas to enjoy the beach and the robots! I think this base took me about a month to complete, and countless hours making every detail count.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy pride month! If you have anything negative to say about lgbtq+ rights, please keep it to yourself, I will simply remove any negative comments from this post. I'm just here to bring a little colour and joy to people's lives

Found first abandoned ship...part of the Atermis Mission? [Question]

I'm still new to No Mans Sky, I just completed the step Locate Benefactor, and it led me to the start of the Artemis Mission..I'll do the mission regardless, but my real question is, this is my first abandoned starship I came across within 5 hrs of playing the game, can I repair the this ship, or what do I do with the ship, I've been wanting to get another ship.

Underrated part of playing in VR? The jump scares 😭😭 [Video]

So I’m pretty new and playing this in VR as a change of pace from competitive shooters.

Profanity Filter; meet your maker [Question]

I often change the names of planets adding my own tag on the end "ala Boinky" but otherwise leaving the name as I found it
A few times though the profanity filter rejects the name & I've tried even just uploading the names in those cases unaltered at all, just what the game already had as the name - oddly though those names also got rejected by the profanity filter

In a forgotten Gekstystem I found an anomaly. Nada could not believe that I have found the Eclipse Accelerator Retka’a. The Gek had discovered this millennia ago and researched it for years. The technology, the minerals and biological components do not have any origin in this Universe. Why the makers left this object on this planet. Nada did not know. It is clear that it is damaged although the machinery seems to be still active. Thousands of years ago the Gek gave up the reserch and handed this anomaly over to the planet.

The Gek were able to decipher the name and thought it must be a weapon or a machine to harness energy like a Dyson sphere. Nada suspects that it is a portal. Not an eclipse between a moon and a sun, but an eclipse between two worlds. Perhaps another dimension, perhaps the world of Glass. And this portal ‘leaked’, causing strange minerals to appear and with them unknown flora. Maybe the portal could be reversed. Nada was ging to investigate the possibilities.

I looked around a bit, repaired a transporter and left the planet. I'll leave the investigation to Nada. I still have many planets to visit.

Switch graphics [Suggestion]

The graphics and scale of this game on the switch actually feels impossible to me considering the switches limitations, but im somewhat annoyed at how every planets atmosphere and colors blends with the colors of the technology and bases.

Like why does my ship go completely green whenever I enter a green planet? I dont seem to notice this on other peoples devices so would it be possible to change this?

My first Rare(?) Ship? [Screenshot]

Almost 10 hours in, and I managed to buy this ship on an outlaw system. I found one before but it managed to fly away when I saw it, it was a ball with white, flat, thin wings. Is this type of ship really rare? I love my pink/white solar ship but I'm a sucker for rare ships.

Can't seem to get voice chat to work when playing with a friend [Question]

Hi all, my friend and I both got this game today. It's great - but we can't talk. I'm on PC and he's on PS5. In the beginning he could hear me, but I could not hear him. Now we can't hear each other at all.

As far as I can tell from the settings everything is setup correctly. I googled the issue and it brought me to this subreddit with issues exactly like ours dating back 5 or so years. I'm hoping the issue is fixed by now?

No Man's Sky DICAS [Information]

Olá galera, gostaria de algumas dicas de jogo, coisas como melhorar a classe da nave e cargueiro ou onde comprar outros? achei onde compra a multferramenta mas não naves e cargueiros... gostaria de saber de coisas como cancelar missões secundarias? ativei algumas e não sei como tirar pensei que poderia fazer elas em qualquer galáxia mas apenas na que ativei pelo jeito e ai agora não lembro aonde ativei kkkk há tbm uma missão principal que diz que estou longe do sinal e preciso viajar entre galáxias mas não me diz em qual ir, tem alguma forma de descobrir isso? e sobre a mineração a coisas que minha multferramente demora muito para pegar mas lá nas habilidades da anomalia já upei tudo o raio teria uma outra forma ou agora só mudando a arma? a minha é uma classe A e nunca achei uma maior para comprar sempre C ou B nas vendas, descobri a pouco tbm que posso carregar sozinho com uma habilidade minha decolagem da nave, tem como carregar o salto de dobra sozinho tbm? se alguém tiver mais alguma dica que gostaria de compartilhar ficaria feliz em ler, se alguém quiser jogar e me ensinar um pouco sua sabedoria ficaria feliz em adicionar na Steam.

Uurasa Peacemaker X (first ship) + Questions [Question]

Just started playing the game last week. Repaired this crashed ship (after gathering resources, and two repair slots fixed themselves it seems) and really enjoying it. It was already Rank B, so figured fixing it would be worth it. Haven't found many ships coming into the docks that have more cargo room/upgrade slots that I can afford or even want (I think this one looks cool).

I see that we can upgrade Rank for a ship using nanites, is that worth it? Do we get any new slots open up by doing that? I haven't found any more ships of this type since playing the game for a while (I know it has to be from my starting system), since I think the only other way to get a high rank ship of this kind would be to manually craft it myself?

I've also been trying to use the distress maps to find more crashed starships, but keep getting unlucky. Are there any better in-game (non-exploit) ways to find them?

5 hours in, found abandoned ship [Question]

I just started playing and i found abandoned space ship, its wrecked and needs some heavy repairs, i claimed it to my self, marked it, and left it behind, what else can i do to it other than just claim and repair? Is there a way to dismantle it and sell the parts or maybe if i repair it can i sell it to someone with a nice profit?

I’m adrift…but I’m not lost. [Question]

Just started playing last couple days.

Is my best approach to stay on the story path and try not to get too distracted with side content right now? I want to learn as much about the game systems and mechanics before I start doing “too much” if that makes sense, or more importantly, not enough. Will the story continue to unfold all the things I can do or will it eventually stop introducing new systems etc?

I have met Artemis as a holograph twice, reported to Nada and she has given me a “be cautious” warning. So that’s about as far as I’ve gotten in the story. I’m so tempted to just start going my own way but don’t want to under-utilize all I can do.

Sad and confused. [Discussion]

A couple days ago I posted a video of a pretty low effort build I made and it received a decent amount of views. The next day I posted a video of a build that took me huge amounts of effort to build. A big huge city. And barely anyone saw it. This happens often on Reddit where my low effort builds get lots of views and the ones I work really hard on barely get noticed. Is it the algorithm or what gives?

What is the game actually like? [Question]

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a good day! So I have never played No Mans Sky before but judging from videos I have seen it looks like something i would be really into!

I’m here to ask what the game is actually like. I have seen videos and reviews but I want to know from actual players what the game is actually like and what keeps you playing. Money is a bit tight at the moment so I don’t want to spend £20 on steam just for me to not enjoy it.

Playstation plus? [Question]

I am planning to buy in on my ps5 and enjoy with the psvr2. How much of a necessity is playstation plus? Can i still see other people coming and going? Other people spaceships and bases?

I am mostly playing it solo not having a friend to play with as of now but mostly just wanna experience space in vr and from what I study I think nms is perfect for it

Alright so I've had No Man's Sky on Xbox One for several years now, and recently been playing on PC with some friends who have it on Steam. Even though I have the disc and didn't purchase a digital copy that's never been an issue for me before- now Xbox is saying I'll have to buy the game again?

I'd really prefer not to if I can avoid it so any advice would be appreciated. It's not even so much I don't want to buy it again- it's a pain if so but I genuinely love the game and it'd be worth it- but I've got a good 70+ hours on my main save and don't want to lose that.

Is there a way I can still play it on PC from the digital copy, or do I just have to bite the bullet and pay for it again? Thanks in advance

How can I tell what galaxy I am in? [Question]

This should be simple, but I (think I) visited a “featured” base from the Anomaly then wondered around the system. Found a base called something like “Bob’s Hilbert Galaxy Base.” I was curious if I’d jumped galaxies so checked the Galaxy map and it said I was in Euclid. Dod Bob make a mistake? How can I tell from the ground what galaxy I am in?

JOIN THE STAR WARS GALACTIC PROJECT! [SWGP]

Help us, as we search far and wide in the galaxy of Eissentam for all the planets seen and known in the star wars universe, as we find more and more, we populate and build upon them, making them lively, as we gain more people, it will become more like a functioning civilization set in the star wars galaxy.

We have recently hit 150 members, this means we have introduced Coruscant, free for people to build, a full jedi/sith order system, and we have also released Syndicates, and our own subreddit with the link in the discord! We have also included trading cards and planetary leadership, anyone can be a senator. Our project has a galactic senate controlled by The Chancellor.

Here are the planets we have found:

Tatooine - A sandy desert home to many thriving businesses Geonosis - Desert world, now overun with Droid Factories Alderaan - Mountainous Lush Planet Takodana - Lush green planet Ilum - An empty snow planet, strong in the force, home to the Ilum Jedi Temple Dagobah - A swampy land, home to the frogs, this place is strong with the force Kashyyyk - A jungle forest planet filled with life, this place is the land of the Wookiees Felucia - Floral world of many plants, normal and glowing. Umbara - Virbant glowing lush planet Coruscant - A city planet adorned with Towering skyscrapers (BIG WORK IN PROGRESS)

You can become: A jedi A sith A Senator A Bounty Hunter/Guild Leader A PIrate/Pirate King A Business owner A soldier A Mandalorian A paid builder (ingame currency. NOT real money) A Card trader/player A planet searcher A simple civilian of any planet you choose The Chancellor, AKA the leader (very unlikely to win an election, but possible) A Syndicate Leader MORE TO COME!

New to this game- multiplayer question [Question]

I am going to be starting my first play though ever and I’ve been reading about multiplayer having grieving issues and sometimes not a great experience. What settings should I use to limit this as I don’t want to miss out on certain things/events, etc but don’t want to deal with people ruining it for me early on.

Any help would be appreciated!!
