FPS dropping after a while (until restarting the game) [Question]

Literally the title. I'm playing at 60 fps all the time, even in ship battles or against sentries the fps is stuck at 60. I have an rtx 3050 and an i5 9400f. However, it seems that randomly the game decides to no longer run at 60 fps, even on planets that used to run, and simply drops below 30, and only returns to normal when I restart the game.

Has anyone had this problem and have any ideas on how to fix it? I've tried reinstalling the game and the same problem persists.

Base Building/Editing Is So Much Better With A Mouse [Question]

I’ve been an Xbox player for some time and have loved NMS on my console. However, while doing some travel for work I decided to install it on my laptop via steam and OH MY GOD it is so much easier to place things and rotate them.

Do any console players know of settings I can adjust to make rotating pieces and getting them placed where I want easier/more intuitive?

Somehow soft-locked myself in a Expedition Room (17hrs First Save Player) [Bug]

I had gotten my first freighter on my second time getting the event. Quite a few hours later I warped to a pirate system for nanites and the Pirate freighter triggered. I took it and wanted to redesign my on-ship base a little. After accepting two expeditions, I turned around and all my rooms had vanished. I built a few corridors, and made a expedition room. It said no expeditions when I interacted with it. After that I stepped back to the room with the two doors that lead outside, hit my save point which was in the Top Left quadrant of the room (closer to middle than top), and reloaded my game. When I walked through the void door at the start I feel down so I presumed the rooms de-spawned somehow. My guess is when I reloaded they re spawned, and somehow I got shoved from the save point room into the expedition room.

If anyone knows a clever glitch to get through walls or have any ideas lmk. I tried building corridors and doors, can't delete anything.

Living egg [Question]

I'm on the mission where is requires a specific planer and it says unconventional travel may be required, does this mean a portal... Another issue is I'm in the Euclid galaxy and it's saying the planet is in another galaxy. Can anyone help me please?

SPECULATION: The next update will be Worlds III in July [Discussion]

Maybe relics was a teaser that set up the groundwork for Worlds III. My main reasoning is that the next release will be in june or july (probably july because of past releases) which would be six months after Worlds II released. What makes 6 months significant? That was the same length of time between Worlds I and Worlds II.

Grun City [Build]

Hello! I went way over the top trying to build a little city under a planetary archive( about 3,000 parts over the limit lol) so my plan to open it to the public went out the window but I thought I’d share some photos of it before I destroy it and start again. I worked on this place on and off for months, furnishing all the apartments, filling the shelves of the 7-11 and once I saw I reached the build limit without even starting on the rest of the buildings I just said screw it and let it be my own little playground for building. There use to be a massive nightclub with a stage for a dj but I deleted it to see if it lowered my build parts in a significant way but I was still nowhere close enough. I’ll be more efficient in the future with my base parts.

But anywho, here’s some pics of it for those interested. There’s so much more here but just can’t photograph it all.

Question about changing the multitool at a space station. [Question]

I found an S class multitool while hunting for an alien multitool. The supercharge load out is 3 out of 4 supercharged slots next right next to each other so I tried the load on a planet and go back. I hit every planet up and I got nothing in the way of Experimental or Alien. (The appearance did change like it should.) So my question, if every planet has its own spawn pool will reloading on a planet offer up a different result than the first time I tried it?

NPC Griefer Run [Question]

Has anyone ever done an NPC griefer run? One where you are an absolute menace to every NPC regardless of race. Like, you'll shoot on sight and respond in a way that'll actively offend the NPC. To the point where your reputation is so low that you're infamous with every race.

PSA for the end of expedition 18 [Information]

If you started the expedition from a save where you haven't already unlocked purple planets, your expedition bases (on purple worlds) won't be carried over to that save.

it probably doesn't concern a lot of people but I used the expedition to scout some purple worlds before finishing that quest on my main save and almost lost all that progress when I ended the expedition.

Potential solutions: save the addresses of the purple worlds you want to revisit later or use a mod to unlock the purple systems; this is what I ended up doing even though I am not sure if it would impact that quest when I finally get there.

How Many Friends May I Have? [Question]

Okay, so I was looking at my friend's list and on the screen I have 10 slots for friends and 7 of them are filled with friends I have added here and there. I tried to delete 2 of them whom I haven't seen online in quite some time but the message popped up that "No Man's Sky Friend Failed To Be Removed" (maybe because they weren't online at the time. But I got to thinking, what happens when the 10 slots are filled up? Is that a hard limit and you can't add more friends or are you able to page through them like you can with a lot of other features in the game? Should I be worried about hitting a limit on friend slots? I couldn't seem to find an answer for that while searching online. All that came up was posts about companion slots and such.

If there isn't a hard limit to worry about it's no big deal. I just want to be sure before I start adding people and possibly not being able to remove them later.

Emergency freighter question!!! [Question]

I just saved my third freighter from pirates (I turned down the first two so I can get a capitol one) I saved and was preparing to save scum till I got an S class capitol freighter but I got one first try!!! I need to know if it has good stats or if I should keep rolling tho: S class 25 inventory 13 tech Hyperdrive range: 205.1 Warp efficiency: 0.3 Storage space: 25 Fleet coordination: 25.8 Are these good stats or should I keep trying? What of this can be upgraded later? I’m looking at the menu rn so timely answers are appreciated!

Multiplayer Etiquette [Question]

Hello travelers! Genuine question here. How cool (usually) are people (other players) at the Anomaly? I'm a single player game player and i am ok playing NMS by myself. But sometimes i see people around the Anomaly and i dont know how cool os hostile people usually are with someone trying to interact with then. Never saw any kind of conversation between players and i dont know if it would be ok. A long time ago there was a period where random player would just give other players resources out of the blue, but with no words exchanged either.

Settlement production bugged [Bug]

Whenever I go to claim the materials my settlement produces, as soon as the screen pops up, I see the values drop from 279 to 1! Max produced a day says 279, and it says there is 279 available as soon as I open the screen, but the values drop to 1 each before I can even try claiming them.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a workaround?

Why do I want to be in other galaxies? [Question]

We all start in Euclid. Then go to our next galaxy. Mine was hilbert. I found my way to the third galaxy calypso. To which I thought….why am I doing this? I don’t have a decent base on any planet. I have found/bought/scrapped a lot of ships. I have an S class freighter. (Want an s class dreadnot. ) have one oxygen/copper farm. Done all the ending quests. I have seen a bunch of cool ships in other galaxies. But other than that…..what is the benefit?

Interested in starting game but what Platform [Question]

Interested in playing this game… really interested but after downloaded on steam my computer has shown its age and the lag and low graphics are unbearable…. Thus I’m looking at a new way to play this game…. A new computer seems like I’ll need at least £1000 if not a lot more than that for the good graphics for NMS so as I haven’t got that to spend at the moment I’m looking at the consoles…. How is the game for ps4? The consoles are going for just over £120 so if I got that with a ps4 game version is that good enough for good graphics and optimal gameplay?

I just lost multiple hours of progress [Bug]

*a short rant

Im somewhat new to this game. And I just spent the last few hours buying all the blueprints and gathering the parts to make the dream aerial, as well as using anomaly detectors to find another living frigate. After doing this I then went and completed the third part of the void egg quest that involved creating the membrane. And during all this the game saved many times. I then return to my freighter and close the game. And I immediately re open the game because I forgot to launch an expedition. And when I open the game. My play time has gone back 2 hours and my progress has reset to before I even started to gather materials for the dream aerial! :(

Starbirth quest - HELP NEEDED [Bug]

Having a big problem towards the end of this quest - I need to go hack through the portal back to "my reality", however, someone's built some bit light over the portal - whenever I enter the light my game crashes, I cannot continue unless I restart the game

I've tried turning off multiplayer and that didn't fix it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are pirate dreadnoughts broken? [Question]

I was under the impression that dreadnoughts only appeared in conflict level-3 or outlaw systems, but I encountered one in a conflict level-1 system not too long ago. Furthermore, I've been attempting to acquire an S-class dreadnought in a specific system (conflict level-3), but I've warped to it several times without a single one appearing.

Base Building Guidance [Question]

Hello! I’ve been building bases for awhile now but I’m trying to learn all the glitch building techniques to have more creative freedom. That being said, I’m pretty dumb and it’s taking me awhile. But my question today is in regards to building the top half of an oval I guess. The idea is to build a structure with a roof that mirrors the planetary rings in the sky.

The problem I’m running into is once I get to a certain point, the curving stops and it starts to go straight up. I’ve flipped the small wall piece with an angled wire from lightbox, cube and pyramid to the angle im wanting the pieces to fit so im wondering if that’s messing things up a bit? I hope this makes sense! If anybody can help me I’d greatly appreciate it!

HELP! I can't start Relics in the Anomaly because the Terminus is stuck on Titan [Question]

Help!

I left this to the last minute but was hoping to knock out Relics tonight. However it wont let me start the expedition from the Anomaly in my main save because the Expedition Terminus is stuck on the final Expedition Complete screen from the Titan expedition. There are no items, etc left in there so I don't know what more it expects me to do. Is this is a known bug? Any way to clear it?

Hey guys, I've got some extra living ships. Does anyone want one? (Also got multiple starship AI valves worth 600,000,000 million each that I can give away, also have 50 void eggs up for takes and psychonic eggs which you'd use to upgrade your living ship) What we'd do is meet at a space station, I'd trade ships with an NPC and then you'd buy/trade to get the living ship off the NPC before it flies away. All the ships are fully upgraded with S parts and all have 300+ damage, 900+ maneuverability, and 1600+ hyperdrive range.

Hi! 55 hours in and want to talk about ships for a sec... [Discussion]

Hey guys!! I've put like 55 hours into this game so far and I still feel like such a newb 🤣 If you see han22solo around the anomaly that's me! Unfortunately, I hate that name, because it's from my husband's steam account. But I guess that's me for now. Just FYI, I haven't worked through the main story yet, haven't finished expanding my base, and don't even have a freighter yet (I'm worried I missed my chance for the free one 😭)

Anyways.... I love ship hunting. I've been having fun finding crashed ships, claiming them, and either fixing them up or salvaging them. Every once in a while I'll hang out at a trading post for a little bit just to see if anything cool pops up. One of these times in a poorer system, nonetheless, a mosquito exotic showed up and I about died. Look I don't have a lot of money yet. I had like 28mil units at the time and it cost 29.9 mil. I was like flipping through my ships so fast trying to land them under the trading post before the npc flew off. I has to trade in my crashed A class ship and go broke in order to buy it but I did and I don't regret it.

First, how rare is that mosquito type exotic ship when it comes to other exotics? Like was this crazy lucky?

Also I'm having a hard time deciding what ships to keep. Is there a list of all the ships with pictures somewhere? I've tried googling and can't find what I'm looking for.

Also any tips on finding a high class solar? I have a c class one that I've fixed up and I could upgrade it, but I'm hoping to trade it in for a higher class one.

Whats your guys' favorite ships?

Hidden/triggered missions? [Question]

Was wondering if there were any other missions I haven’t done because I didn’t know to do them? Like the Autophage mission, which was something I kinda stumbled upon, but it seems to be the only one I “triggered.” I’m a couple hundred hours in and I definitely feel like I’ve found all there is to find. I mean, I haven’t learned any cooking recipes really, and I’m sure I can find new multi-tools and ships forever. Certainly still looking for my very own squid.

Confused about starships: should I wait at a spaceport or just buy one and upgrade it? [Question]

New player, love the game, but looking into resources and I’m confused as to the best method for getting a perfect ship.

From everything I’ve seen and read, it boils down to should I pre-farm a crap load of units, find a wealthy system with the design of ship I like and afk at a spaceport until an S rank version appears.

Or

Can I just get one of any rank that looks fine and incrementally upgrade its parts and design, and eventually it will have the same slots/stats as an S rank?

If I can do the latter, I’m a bit confused about the scrapper, would I then need to basically repeat step S ranks of the type of ship I like, buy them, scrap them for their S rank parts, and then fit them onto my WIP ship?

Chances of S class ship following distress signals? [Question]

Doing another PD run and this time building funds by finding and claiming ships via distress signals. I have a good process down and it's quick.

However, after probably 40 or so ships, no S class at all.

How can I improve my odds? 3-star systems?

IDEALLY want to find S class haulers.

PSA: Don't use the Nom Nom save editor. [Save Editors]

It's corrupted my saves twice now. It works for the basic stuff but easily corrupts saves if you go too deep into its "functions." 170 hours down the drain all because I wanted to save myself time farming sentinels for their glass. Yes, I did back up my saves. No, they weren't able to be recovered. Ridiculous.

Where did all the player bases go on my planet? [Question]

I found a new home planet a couple weekends back and was shocked at how it went from me and a few other people with bases, then through the night it shot up to about 50, then the next day it had about 115. I was blown away and figured someone posted the coordinates somewhere, cause it is a cool planet.

Today I logged in and there are about 13 bases on it, I can't seem to find any info about where all the others went. Does it just phase them out for me if there are too many? I did find it on a weekend, I'm wondering if tons of people got missions to build bases there then deleted them? But that still seems like a drastic number change, and I always figured those quests just spawned in your current star system.

Thanks for any info! Just curious about it; I'm not entirely new but still exploring the game for the first playthrough blind lol.

I got griefed hard! [Discussion]

I got put into a deathloop by a griefer. I lost all my inventory. I had a void egg I was excited to work on and a couple thousand worth of nanites in mods I was gonna sell, S class reactor core All gone! my gear is broken. I dead aleast 20 times trying to figure how to get out. Thankfully one of you beautiful souls got added me and got me out. I'm still hurt i was put into that situation and mad I fell for it.

Give me a reason to keep playing.

Unfortunate Visual Bug Regarding The Turbine Fuselage [Bug]

Just noticed this, after hours and hours of seeing this specific fuselage type over and over again, I'm only now just noticing an unfortunate visual bug it has.

When the landing legs retract into the fuselage, bits of the visual model for the front landing leg do not stay attached, and will simply float underneath the fuselage.

A very minor visual bug, but I will never unsee this and it bothers me to know that it's there. Probably won't be patched considering how small this is, but I figured I'd point it out in case it hasn't already been addressed.

Appreciation Post [Screenshot]

Image #1: Two days before, I unexpectedly received 1.25 billions Units worth of salvage parts from this player in black suit.

Image #2: Before and after units in my possession after traded those salvage parts.

Image #3: Yesterday, first ever Exotic Type (S-class) spaceship landed in the space station at my base system.

Image#4: Deal’s done and I am happily own my first S Class ship.

Does this spoil my playing experience? IMO, no since many more objectives to achieve. I am sure this boost is nothing in old timer’s POV. To have the opportunity to explore/ do missions with a good ship early in game is good for me.

Surreal planet [Screenshot]

It's a "flourishing planet" with ample fauna and bountiful flora. Sentinels low. The weather is listed as "echoes of acid" which seems to mean not hazardous at all; even the storms seem to do nothing but make it windy for a bit. Between the bubbles everywhere, the pink water with opalescent surface sheen, the bioluminescent grass at night, the bright hazy daytime, giant perfectly cylindrical plateaus and funky animals... I'm thinking "echoes of acid" might have another meaning here.

Only off-putting thing is the giant crab-squids, but they have a cheerful behavior so it's all good.

Hitting a weird patch on station names. [Question]

So unless I am mistaken, the names of the space stations are procedurally generated with the "random" system name inserted into them.

Since I arrived in Sivarates galaxy, I have explored 13 systems, and every single one of them has a stationed named "The X Sphere". Shouldn't I have by now hit at least one that was the Stellar Observer, or Prime, or something?

game capped at 10 fps after alt tabbing [Question]

i usually get from 150 to 165 fps (monitor hz) but for some reason when i alt tab the game gets capped at 10 and 100% gpu usage. ive tried everything, changing from fullscreen to borderless, changing the upsclaer from fsr to dlss and frame gen, but nothing works. i dont know why it uses 100% when normally idles at 80 to 85% (i have vsync active)
my hardware:
gpu: nvidia rtx 4060 8gb
cpu: ryzen 5 5600 6 core
ram: 16 ddr4 single channel 3200 Mhz
storage: 1tb m.2 nvme

Privacy and using different saves [Question]

If I use a particular save (e.g. save 1) to play with a friend, and make sure my settings are always 'invite only' so that people can't jump into my game, does that definitely mean that people I play with will never be able to see or travel to my bases from the saves I don't use with them (e.g. save 2)? And won't be able to see who I'm playing with?

Are there any other things I need to consider so that I keep my privacy secure? I play with close friends abd family on one save and want to play with people on another save and I don't intent to mix the two.

Can you leave a derelict freighter and come back to it? [Question]

I went to a derelict freighter (bought co-ordinates from the scrap dealer on a station), and I was only halfway through looking at it but I had to go and do something so I AFKd on the space anomaly for a bit. Then when I left the space anomaly the derelict freighter was nowhere to be found. Is this normal? Can you leave them and come back or do you have to look through the whole thing in one go.

Sentinel Ship Mission Bug [Bug]

I was playing today and I found a sentinel interceptor. After probing the brain I flew to the monolith area, but before I could land my game crashed. Once I loaded back in I no longer had any mission markers for either the ship or the monolith, and I am unable to find any monoliths whatsoever now. Do I simply have to take the loss and move on, or is there a way to fix it?

I've tried warping in and out of the system, re-probing the brain, and finding any monoliths on my own but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.

Abandoning a settlement- what happens? [Question]

When you abandon a settlement and accept another overseer position at a different settlement... what happens? Do all the new buildings dissappear? Does it go back to the original name? Do the citizens still call you the overseer? Do they ignore you? Are they mad?

Was I the only one roadblocked by the bonefish mission? [Discussion]

I'm disappointed today that the relics expedition is over before I caught a bonefish and missed out on unlocking the phase rewards and the expedition completion rewards.

It's obviously not that big of a deal, but if that mission was "catch 80 fish" I would have finished it. :(

NMS need some kind of depth update [Suggestion]

I attached some basic diagrams to explain what I meant. First image represent current state, 2nd one is what it can be.

Currently game have a lot of mechanics, but they're simple and isolated mostly. Only connected part is guilds but I feel like it could be much more. Just like fossil update, same mechanics could be more detailed.

Game already have too much mechanics, just need more connections and ways to use them. Just quick suggestions for sake of example :

  • There could be spesific ship build missions which you have to search for ships with specified parts, then build and give to customer / client / guild. A time consuming but with a good reward mission / job type. Basically building a ship for someone else, not for yourself.

  • Just like ship jobs there could be building jobs, You can build spesific building with needed rooms / parts and compile them as a blueprint / package.

  • Fishes and animal eggs could be needed for medicine production, for some galaxy they're just food, for another one they worth a fortune.

  • You can found unfinished jobs / goals of someone else's at graves, crashed ships, derelict freighters. And complete them.

  • Derelict freighters... You can scavenge, clean them, find missing crew scattered around the universe, convince them to come back. At the end of the mission maybe add an option to own the freighter?

  • Add a simple mechanic to galactic trade terminals, a "needed" part for that system, which you can fulfill with materials & items and get rare stuff as a more vip customer etc.

As I said, game have a lot of mechanics but they're so isolated, it feels like different mini games imho.

Connecting them would be make this game more immersive.

Scale gltich power question. [Question]

I built an upscaled base teleporter and using Scottish Rod's video (thanks, Rod!), managed to get it powered up with the cuboid room.

It took me a while to get the angle right and now I'm wondering if I have to keep the cuboid room there for it to remain powered or if I can remove it?

I'd rather not remove it, lose power and have to fiddle to find the angle again.

The ocean swells in this game are terrifying. [Screenshot]

I found a planet that lets me get to 1464u deep in the ocean (best I've found so far), so I thought I'd build a surface base as well as a deep one.

Built a basic base and then a storm appears. Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild, I'm currently at 15 storeys high to avoid the swell, and standing on it watching the sea is absolutely terrifying, it really gives me power-of-the-sea terrors and reminds me of seeing The Poseidon Adventure as a kid, except this is more violent.

I'm going to have to get out my VR and see if I can survive!

(Both bases are basic skeletons so far, don't judge me!)

Seriously though, it's my girlfriends ship. But you wouldn't know her, she plays on permadeath... in a different galaxy. She gave me something called Faecium the other day, so I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious.

Actually I just wanted to show off how lucky I got with my staff coloring! And also to ask, why does the person in charge of making the body/armor coloring hate the actual color red? All the colors in this game are amazing but red is just all over the place on a lot of things. Probably my smallest most petty gripe with the game. My armor/body looks closer to the pink on my ship... her ship... than the red coloring on my staff.

Help with Soul Chamber [Bug]

I've filled the Archived Soul, but every time I try to go to the portal, my character freezes. My environmental protection goes to 0% and no matter how many times I recharge it, it's still at 0%. I've tried relaunching the game four times and it's the same thing every time. Any advice on what to do?

Easter Egg? (spoilers for late game) [Information]

Ok, so this time I paid more attention when I was sideloading the Atlantid memories into Atlas. I had noticed before that when searching, Atlas starts with the system you're in, then the previous one, then jumping back all the way to the initial system your character started in. And ... then it adds one. Paroi Major. I checked the long list of systems known to this save, to be sure I hadn't been there (and just to say, I'm pretty sure I didn't find a system 10 years ago and call it Debbie-Mae. Time-travel is not one of my skills.)

So I checked, and Paroi Major is a system from the pre-release version of the game. TBH, I don't remember it that well, even though I was one of the pre-order Travellers.

So, anybody notice this ? Or did you get a different origin world than Paroi Major ? I probably have a save lying around that's done Artemis and Apollo quests, I might look for one and get it to this point, to see if it's the same. Just thought it's a nice touch.

Drednaught encounter.... disappeared? Twice? [Question]

I'm looking to change my freighter to an S class Drednaught. The issue is that, after I found an encounter, did it, checked fr class, no S class -> reload autosave.

Drednaught encounter disappeared (after like 4-5 tries) I did search for another one, eventually found one, it disappeared on my 3rd try.

Why? What can I do to optimize this "hunt"?

I was minding my own business in build mode and suddenly I notice someone standing next to my character. I was on Lowella, the recently established NMSTG hub planet. There are players constantly in and out of the system and all over the planet, so I wasn't flabbergasted or anything.

But I've only had multiplayer active since the Titan expedition. Before that it's been 500 hours of single player and an empty Anomaly. And even at the Anomaly I'm never approached and I keep to myself.

I felt like I was supposed to do something but I had no clue what. I wish the base I was building was something worth seeing but it's almost nothing right now and only uploaded because another base showed up within 1000u after I started building.

I went into my inventory and transfered some Iron Vulture parts, an S Class core, and 10 exosuit modules, my usual secret Santa gift to new players at the Anomaly.

Then I looked around and noticed their ship, a custom Iron Vulture. I felt dumb. They gestured a thank you anyway.

Was I supposed to add them as a friend? I sure as heck didn't want to follow them anywhere. We are both on PlayStation so no chat...

Then I noticed an "Over here" message but didn't see them or their icon anywhere. I looked up their base and teleported there (yes I'm well aware of griefer death traps). It lagged my system really bad.

And, that was it.

Are encounters like this never not awkward? And let me be clear, the other player did nothing strange and I appreciate the visit. I'd love a random visitor at one of my finished bases. The awkwardness comes from me.

I was today years old when I learned the freighter's interior can be transferred when buying new one. That said I decided to build on-board "for real". So I went insane... Ladies and gentlemen, I present you - Atomsk.

Everything you see is very early work in progress.

Sensory overload hits you like a freight train.

^That's the HUB. Quick access to teleporter, scanner and fleet command room.

I was going for cozy-cyberpunk/desert nomad feel.

As you can see some parts (on the left) are not yet "pimped".

Holographic displays are so cool and you can walk through them.

I like tight spaces and artistic mess. Also you can notice plenty of flora in this technological setting. More incoming.

Again. Displays adds so much life to furniture.

System scanner decorated like desert tent. Rug on a wall. How I did that thing above the table was crazy, but somehow worked out great. BTW. The little planet displays works great here. You can add planets to the boring once that are displayed.

Console transfer help? [Question]

So I know that the saves are console specific, but I'm getting a new PS5 and I want to keep all my progress. I've got so many frigates and stuff I don't wanna have to restart so I'm wondering is there a way to keep my progress once I move to the new console? I know I can't just open the app on the new PS5 cuz my boyfriend can't access my stuff off his PS5. Anyone know what to do or am I just screwed and gonna have to restart.

My least favorite planet type [Screenshot]

Just steep mountains everywhere! I can't enjoy my usual gameplay of walking around and scanning everything.

Occasionally there's an isolated plateau where you can get out of your ship and walk about 15 steps before you face a steep cliff.

I managed to scan a few lifeforms before they wandered off the edge and plummeted to their deaths.

There were allegedly underwater and underground creatures but I couldn't find any water or caves so I left this world pretty quickly.

My biggest and most detailed build yet! [Build]

I took inspiration from an artist I found on Artstation. I cannot find the original artist's name or link but their painting is included here. I love making builds that look functional and lived in. I'm made this into a research lab on a frozen planet. I at first surpassed the 3000 piece limit and had to dial some things back.

Front: Guard tower

Right building: mud room, dorms, kitchen, and lounge on the first floor. Bio (plant) lab on 2nd and 3rd floor

Middle building: the garage, head mechanic office

So ever since I got the Liquidator legs, my Minotaur makes no noise when it walks, with the hard frame legs it does, and the basic legs make no noise. I miss the intimidating walking tank sound, but I like the look of the Liquidator legs, any idea what could cause this issue?

Am I weird for this? [Build suggestions ]

I noticed that the more rooms in your freighter, the more crew move in. So o did this. I am currently building my freighter to look like what i think a capital ship would look like in real life. Right now, I have a command room, multiple living quarters, a lounge, a bar, multiple jobs; restaurants, salesmen, etc. I'm also working on an armory and a training room. Can I have some suggestions on what I should add next?

I also really like the little things, so I scale down parts and add them to the nightstands in the living quarters to add a little personality.

Thoughts on settlements? [Discussion]

I’ve been messing around with settlements lately, and honestly… I feel like there’s massive potential there, but right now it feels kind of shallow and a bit underwhelming. I was really hoping for more depth or gameplay variety.

Void egg [Question]

I think I put purchased a void egg in a galaxy that I am not currently in I didn't remember which one. I can't get rid of the egg I think I accidentally sold some of the parts to make the living ship and can't complete the mission. What do I do? I can't sell it or gift it or drop it just keeps coming back.

They are from a same space station! No need to use the fabricator. Just wait for NPCs to come with the same ship as the pics, no matter wat class, buy and upgrade it, u ll see 4 adjacent SC slot. Shuttle is L4 and Hauler is T4.

Why can’t I see purple stars on my galaxy map? [Question]

I have the Atlantid Drive on two ships that I stored and transferred out from the last two expeditions.

I have tried them on several ships, but I still can’t find a purple system!? I know I have been to them from my visited systems list.

I was hopeful I could mark it as a waypoint. But that was a few 100,000 ly away and I don’t think it could find a route back.

I also can’t craft it or buy the blueprint at the anomaly.

No tot mention, with this red haze on the galaxy map, half of them look purple to me. But when I get closer they appear to be blue or red.

Did I miss a crucial step in activating this ability? I need that quartzite for the exocraft summoning unit!

Can someone tell me if my S-Class Freighter wasn't worth buying? [Question]

I bought this Capital Freighter (S Class - 15/+8) for 10,000,000 credits somewhat impulsively, as I was kind of tired searching for a free one. I'm not distraught if it's total crap, but having difficulty determining if it's great or terrible based on the online descriptions. It certainly doesn't look like anything special, so I'm a bit bummed about that, but any insight would be super helpful!

Ancient dig site relics question [Question]

Terribly timed exotic [Screenshot]

I'm about 80 hours in and decided to build my own fighter for the first time. I spent a couple of days searching systems for the exact parts to build the ship I wanted. I was at the fabricator putting it together, hopping systems looking for the best stats, and as I go to hop in my previous ship I see an exotic in the station. Don't get me wrong I was stoked, but I was a little disappointed because I was really looking forward to using this one I built. But I'm hooked on the exotic now that I have it. Appreciative, but I feel betrayed lol. They're both S class, any reason an S class fighter would be better or is the exotic always going to be best?

Is there a way to host a universe in this game on your own computer/server? [Question]

I return to this game every once in a while and lately I have been realising how much I hate seeing the stupid names people give to the planets, moons et c. It's unserious, idiotic and immersion-breaking. I know some people like this quirk, but I hate it.

Is there a way to host a clean slate version of a newly generated universe offline, including the procedural generation system so that each system is (statistically likely) unique and different from what one might run across while perusing the galaxies, on my own server where it just uses the auto-generated names?

Like I play it only in a single-player mode. I want to explore this depressing yet colourful (with the meta-knowledge that it's just procedurally generated randomness) world of lonely sombreness.

Infinite crashed ships. [Information]

I'm a new player, so I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but it seems like if you get an autophage quest to find a downed ship and salvage it, as long as you keep selling the salvage instead of returning it to the autophage, the game will keep spawning new crashed ship markers. I was far from the original star system but I don't know if that matters.

Also archiving a salvaged ship clears the damaged inventory.

No mans sky expedition 18 bug, missions incomplete [Bug]

Expedition 18 bug

I was just finishing the expedition, and i do appear to have glitched it out and need assistance.

I was completing the last two missions of phase 4, the last two i needed to complete the expedition, making the softened marrow and feeding it to chronus. I did that, and get a pop up in the corner stating that the expedition was complete, yet i did not get any of the usual fanfare that pops up when completing the missions.

On the expedition tab it still shows the missions as greyed out and incomplete, yet they can not be selected and made the active mission, however the log tab shows all 5 phases as complete. Despite this, if i go to the console to complete the expedition, it lets me finish the expedition, yet the scorecard thing does not show phase 4 as complete. I force closed the game before finalizing it, and went back to the expedition.

Ive also tried updating the game and restarting it, but those do not appear to have any effect.

Has anyone experienced a similar bug? If i go back to my main file will i get all of the completion rewards or not? If i do get all the rewards that's great but id hate to get back to my main save and be missing all of the armor.

Are there any workarounds known? I posted this in the bug mega thread as well.

Taking clean screenshots [Question]

So basically ive been trying to take some nice screenshots in the game via the photo mode, but there are always jagged edges, especially on ships or my character (especially when taking a closer look). Center of Galaxy [Question]

Quick question, how do you reach the center of the Galaxy without using glyphs from internet or else ?

When I use black hole I usually ends up with a similar distance from the center. And even with my freighter with 3.4k of hyperdrive range it quite difficult to travel 600k ly.

Best ships to scrap for storage augmentations? [Question]

As the title says, google and reddit search give vague answers.

I can buy 2 high class haulers or 100 low class shuttles for the same money. So, if the shuttle has 10 times lower chance, I still get 5 times more augmentations. Shuttle chance has to be more than 50 times lower to make haulers worth it.

So... anything with high storage count? Anything with high class? Any specific type? I'm sure at least one of you did check it, scrapping thounsands of ships.

Warning: Living ship quest base report [Bug]

Hey guys, I'm doing the mission for the ship and wanted to go back through the portal. However, the portal turned into a huge short-range teleporter. I went in, and my whole screen turned white. I loaded my last save point from before I entered the portal, but now my entire screen is gray.

Had to brag: All achievements, while permadeath! [Discussion]

Finally did it, ended up just sorting all my storage containers while in my Roamer on a hellhole of a planet, just to get that Extreme Survival Achievement... Did most of this in my current Permadeath Save, including finding an S-Class Venator Freighter, nice Sentinel, maxed out S-Class Hauler, S-Class MT and finished most base game missions. Not sure how close I am to getting all Exosuite slots, but it can't be far anymore.
Really happy I finally did it "all", now looking forward to base building, expanding that epic Freighter and maybe getting to another Galaxy. Freighter can warp 3.7k LY so should be doable.

If anyone has suggestions what I should look into next after finding some sense of "I did it", to keep me wanting more, I'd love to hear it!

Missing damaged ship – can’t find or recall it, any ideas? [Question]

Hey everyone, I’m having a weird issue and could really use some help. I have a ship that I never fully repaired. It used to be docked in my freighter, but now it’s just… gone.

When I try to summon it via the quick menu, it says the ship is in a “critical state” and nothing happens. There’s no marker anywhere, no way to locate it, and I can’t seem to recall it from anywhere.

So now I’m stuck with a ship I can’t find, repair, or sell. Has anyone experienced this? Any workaround to make it reappear or locate it somehow?

Mods stopped working overnight [Question]

I played all day yesterday with several mods without any issues. When I booted the game today, none of my mods were working and I didn't even get the Mods warning from NMS that I usually get. I double checked that the mods were still in the correct folder and that the disable file was deleted, but that's all I could think of. Does anybody know of a reason why my mods would stop working overnight?

Probably the coolest looking one I ever found,Dragonfly style with skinny wings. Everything just so perfect and can’t get any better for me.

Sad news, I’ve tried my best spending hours to look for a 4 adjacent SC slot, No Luck……..

Good new in this sad story, I found 3+1 and 2+2 which is still good. Left a base at 3+1, beacon at 2+2.

Base building project [Build]

I've played a little over 100 hours and I've never really invested in base-building, because I find it quite tedious in this game, unfortunately.

Then I went back to the (only) base project I had, and I thought it would still be nice to finish at least part of it.

I found this planet with lots of big circles, on land and also in the water, and I thought it would be fun to make a base that would connect two of them, with a sort of bridge. The ones I plan to build on are quite close, but I hope the limit of the radius within which we can build will allow me to connect the two stone circles from the small tower I built. I plan to make another one opposite.

So I just wanted to share the project. And since I'm really bad at base-building, and the NMS building system has some weird peculiarities, if people have ideas or tips I'm listening. But I don't want to do something too sophisticated, because even if I sometimes see impressive and very pretty constructions that make me want to do things similar, personally I don't have the patience to do that, and I know that some people also use some kind of glitches.

Oh and sorry for the quality of the screenshots but I can only play with the graphics in "low" or "mid".

Clearing bases in a row? [Question]

Hey everyone, I'm new in the game but I already built a lot of bases because this is my favourite part of the game...to built and collect new items for bases and try them out....but now I would like to sort out my bases, because most of them I won't need in the future.

Is there a way to delete them without visiting them and opening up the board computer thing? Because this is hella tiring...I'm gonna Demeter the warp gate as well and need tonfind my way to the next base.

I also dont want to use the 'favourite bases' option already...because THEN i'll need to sort out this list too. Trust me. There are way too much bases.

Have you seen how the fauna has been changing/generating? Adults/young/appearance and behavior etc etc. Adults with young around them. More predators actually preying on other fauna and fit the description of what they prey on. Had a great laugh at the large living rock someone encountered.

Base computer archives bugged? [Bug]

My wife recently joined me in playing and is enjoying most of the game, so far. We've run into a problem with the Base Computer Archives quest, though. She's still in Euclid. We have a base on a planet in one system. The quest tells us to go to coordinates in a nearby system for the logs or whatever. When she/we go to that system and follow the icon to the marked planet, just before we get to the planet, the marker moves to the planet behind us. We follow again, and it goes back to the first planet. We've tried black hole jumping to a far away system, I even took her to Eissentam and restarted the quest. It just says "target is in a distant star system" and points her back to the same bugged system. Not sure if it's relevant, but I'm on Steam, she's on PS5. Other ideas of how to fix this?

My frigate crews are absolutely ruthless! [Screenshot]

I have Frigate Expeditions running all the time in No Man's Sky. It's how I accidentally became a billionaire while trying to get expansion units for my Freighter and Starships. I usually just skip through the debrief when they return, but every now and then, I like to read through the logs as we go. Sometimes I find things like this that give me a dark chuckle. THIS is how we deal with pirates in MY fleet! 😂🏴‍☠️💀

"Quick" guide on how to get/create this very rare (I think) creature. [Screenshot]

Grab the momma at the coords. Should look exactly like the one above but with blue crystals. I call her Heisenbug for obvious reasons.

Stock up about 7k cadmium for max size, which will be about 40ft tall and 1,000lbs. Then go catch and cook up some octopus (grilled tenticles is what you want to end up with) for color.

If the octopus are not biting, you can use ferrite dust for the same crystal color, but the shell striping will be white instead of blue.

I threw about 250 items at this bug over the last couple days, and I only got the white crystal coloring twice, so that's what I'm basing the claim of rarity on.

But with how this game/life is, I'm sure I'll open this post up later to see about 50 screenshots of people with white crystal bugs claiming they are the most common variety! 😂

I was going to list off different colors with screenshots, but this little project has gotten completely out of control and I'm officially fed up with it! Just know there's no GREAT red color crystal that I could find. They're all too pink or too orange for my taste. But the blues and greens are pretty damn impressive.

If you have the means, you should definitely try Uranium for color. I was going to post that one, but I'll let someone else reap the karma if they go through all this trouble!

Oh, I almost forgot, you really need to take it off the anomaly to see accurate shell coloring, that was the nail in the coffin for my interest in splicing, having to leave the damn anomaly to get an accurate pic! The creature management page doesn't look right either!

It's actually one of the more fun creatures to dye though, a lot of variety! The entire shell can change color very dramatically along with the little stripes on the shell. Uranium is probably the best example I can think of for the color contrast you can get on this creature....

I couldn’t figure out what to build under my stairs, and then it hit me: A CAT AREA! I have four cats in real life and always try to make space for them in the games I play. They’ve now got their only little area complete with: cat tree, cozy bed, cat nip, lots of windows, and even litter boxes with a litter locker and shovel. Oh and a holographic cat of course!

Coming Back to NMS in 2025 is Wild! [Screenshot]

My first 300+ hours in NMS came in 2016 and 2017, before it ever got a major update. High hopes and brimming enthusiasm fueled that initial marathon of drop pod-hunting and strip-mining, but the sparsity of content eventually led to disillusionment and boredom.

When base-building was first introduced, I gave it another try, and ended up with a big glass greenhouse supplying a thriving circuit board manufacturing outfit. Then Hello Games released an update that broke my planet and my heart. I picked up and relocated, but once again the magic had been lost for me. This stint only lasted a couple months, ending mid 2018.

Early in the COVID lockdowns I passed the time at work learning about the new economies, jumping from system to system buying low and selling high. I repurposed all that greenhouse glass into a pretty but empty base at the south pole of a Toxic Anomaly (still the best eternal sunset I've seen in game). But my work computer had trouble rendering my modest base, and the frequent crashes led to me losing interest once again.

Last year, 2024, I built a new gaming computer almost on a whim. I wasn't even doing any graphically-intensive gaming at the time. Then finally, about a month ago, I opened up my old save to see what Euclid was up to — And it blew me away. This is NOT the game I left behind in 2020. I'm back for good this time, especially if we continue to see active development.

How do I stop the camera from moving without my input. [Question]

Hi I'm new to the game. When walking in a straight line in 3rd person if I'm walking forward and looking sort of at the ground the game will slowly adjust my camera to look straight. Frustrates me to no end. It's like the game thinks it knows where I want to look better than I do. I turned it from follow to manual and that made it better but didn't fix. Am I missing a setting somewhere? On PC if that makes a difference

Should I be hunting for S Pirate Dreadnought? [Question]

I have been preventing myself from fully decking out my S class older dreadnought Frieghter despite grinding like hell for it because Im really not sure if I should be sticking with it after grinding for it before pirate dreadnoughts became available as a frieghter. I just came back to the game not long ago after 2019 as I just got my PC back from my home country so there seems to be same type of novelty attached to it in my mind.

Game crashes when I try to open old save [Bug]

When the Worlds II update came out, my main save broke and started crashing the game whenever I tried to open it. I figured it was just a bug with the update and stopped playing for a while to wait for it to get patched, but now I want to play again and it's having the same issue. I have started a new save, and it works just fine, but I'd really like to be able to play my old save as it's my original save from my first time playing the game, and it has 120 hours on it, not to mention some sentimental value.

On that save, I'm currently inside the Space Anomaly. When I open the game to try to play on that save, it starts the audio for the inside of the Space Anomaly, but it just shows a white screen. After a few seconds, it displays the Vulkan Initialization Failure message in the picture, and regardless of whether I click Yes or No it then shows the next error message and closes the game.

These are my specs:

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1355U, 1700 Mhz, 10 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

  • Memory: 16 GB RAM

  • Graphics: Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics

  • Storage: 50 GB free (with the game already installed)

I have tried everything I can think of to fix my driver, including updating, deleting and reinstalling, and repairing. I have also uninstalled and then reinstalled the game. I'm really puzzled because my other (new) save works without a problem--it's only my old save that has this issue.

Any ideas for how I can fix this? I miss my trusty old spaceship and my funny freighter crew and my horrible little settlement where all the villagers hate my guts

Bioluminescent Paradise Planet [Screenshot]

so, I found a beautiful bioluminescent paradise planet in my 2nd discovered star system. But Im still looking for my ideal planet to call home for at least a while. As such, I thought it'd be a shame if no one got the chance to call it home. It is in the euclid galaxy and is in the same system as my current home. Feel free to build on there and explore. (Also, I just looked and the planet is labeled "Humid Planet" even though Im 90% sure it said Paradise. Unless my ADHD gaslighted me again. I could've seen Paraffinium and my brain went PARADISE. My bad)

Extreme Survival needs a rework [Suggestion]

I’ve been on a few different extreme planets chugging ion batteries and trying to stay busy, but reaching 43,200 in game minutes is absurdly boring. For players that like to “100%” it’s nearly impossible due to complete boredom and time consumption of this one mission. I love this game so much but please change the time required to do this

Base got deleted after I finished Titan Expedition. [Discussion]

I did the expedition 17 Titan before I gained access to purple systems. During the expedition I built a base on an ocean planet in a purple system, hoping to come back once I finish the quest lines. Today I managed to get to that planet (Adtow in Haporin System) but did not find my base there. Bummer ( I started the expedition in the anomaly and merged the save after)…. I really liked the island I built the base on. It was called “The Isle Of Mine”.
To be honest, I was hoping to find that base where I left it, but the game deleted it, due to me not having access to the purple systems. Other base I built in a regular yellow system merged with the save no problem.
I am mad

Can't find black hole [Question]

I've come across the darn thing twice in this system, but I was busy doing other things. Now I'd like to use it, I can't find it at all. It doesn't show up anywhere on my screen or hud. I've tried flying towards the planet I was heading to last time I found it and...nothing.

On top of that, somehow all the cargo in my main ship vanished while I was hunting crashed ships, so I'm a little frustrated at the moment.

Didn't make the Expedition deadline. Suddenly ended. Again. [Discussion]

I didn't get a feel for how much time I had left. It's still a mystery to me why they removed the "days left" and "hours left" ticker that scrolls when you click a save file with an ongoing expedition. I know I can just take note that it's 6 weeks but that doesn’t mean it’s exactly 42 days, and there's different timezones, etc. It used to be a luxury to have the exact countdown down to the last minute right there on the Load saves screen.

Starbirth portal not working... [Question]

So I have the 4 mature parts, the egg is giving me the coordinates to the new planet, and I'm in the Euclid galaxy. I've got all the glyphs and have given the required resources to each glyph in order to activate the portal.

I can enter the egg's portal address which creates the portal, but when I enter the portal I get the warp/loading screen but then I just exit the same portal that I entered from rather than exiting the portal on the new planet...

Anyone know what I'm missing or is this a bug?

So, I'm a person who loves customization in games and this game scratches that itch. I love the level of customization in this game. I am constantly changing up my look as the mood hits me. Someone but can't control themselves from using the duplicate glitch [Discussion]

Okay, please don't judge me

Is there any way to block the item duplication glitch with the refiner other than simply not using it? I love the game, I always come back after a few months and think to myself "I'll just duplicate a little bit of copper" and BOOM, I have hundreds of duplicate items. Which I find sad since I find farming fun, but sometimes the convenience of getting what I want right away is tempting.

I wanted to know if there is any way to block this forever, I think I have some problem and need to get treatment haha ​​but I can't just stop using it, and soon the game gets boring for me and I start a new save from 0

I've built a bar there and this is how we spend long quiet evenings and nights sharing a glass of bourbon and talking on various topics. Yes, there are still plenty of them even after these 32 years. The ocean between us and the day-to-day life have broken our dream to drink together at some beach bar in the Caribbean with young girls wearing palm skirts and dancing around us. But the Sky of No Man made it possible for the two of them. This is a great game that brings both the sense of total lonelyness along with the feeling that if oneof us gets stuck on some...

Intense Bubble Storm on Oil Rainbow Planet [Video]

Exploring this planet felt like being trapped in a coke bottle someone shook up too much.

Crazy oil rainbow (thin film interference) effect on the whole planet. It's a grassy lush planet, but it's basically hazard free (except sharks in the ocean). the constant bubble storms are pretty hilarious.

I've recieved the mark of the denier which to my knowledge is the opposite thing you get if you don't deny the atlas. From what i looked up, the mark of the denier seems to be repeatable way of getting nanites and learn atlas words. Hallo zusammen,

Ich bin am Verzweifeln. Ich spiele das Spiel seit einer Weile und finde es vor allem mit der PSVR2 richtig gut.

Ich weiß dass ich in Höhlen, in Meeren, auf Felsen usw bei Tag und Nacht suchen und scannen muss. Aber leider schaffe ich es einfach nicht.

Vor allem so bekannte Mineralien oder gefährliche Pflanzen ist mit der Brille einfach nicht zu scannen.

Hab schon in meiner begrenzten Zeit, sehr viele Stunden damit verbracht , aber ich komme einfach nicht weiter.

New Ship Type, Super Rare & Changes Spawn [Suggestion]

I wish we had super rare exotic ships that would appear on only a handful of systems at a time, and once it was purchased by any one player, the spawn location/system would immediately change to a new random location.

We need a market for rare ships, and there isn't one when people post the coordinates for all to find.

Confession of a relaxed setting player. [Discussion]

Easy,Easy,Easy........Too easy. Didn't feel challenging.

So pulled a restart in normal mode, no change in settings. Locked them in.

WOW! ...... Ship all busted up, equipment all busted up. No units, Nanites. My nuke suit saying I'm about to die...now there's an ankle biter thingy chasing me down.

What else could wrong.........right? NOT A FOOKING TOILET ANYWHERE!!! Seriously, this is what i got the game for. Not to be easy,but to be challenging.

Now I gotta get to the anomaly and try not to cash in that sweet igniter someone will eventually put in inventory. The temptations are real.

Hello travelers. I'm playing on PS5 and out of nowhere players stopped appearing in the anomaly, multiplayer is activated, my profile is online, does anyone know what it could be? Note: I don't have a plus subscription.

Do I lose my freighter every time I use a save for an expedition? [Question]

Im a little dumb and don't read the whole thing at the start of the expedition cross save so it's probably answered for me but I've googled and this particular thing hasn't been asked so I don't know.

Basically, twice now after completing an expedition my character is kind of "reset" in a way. Back down to basic tech installed and no freighter. Even though I've completed the pirate thing twice on this save for the free freighter.

The Watched title bugged? [Question]

I’m questing for all the titles but this one remains elusive. When I visit the debris sites, taking to the Korvax offers no real dialogue, only that I should let them get back to their task. This seems out of keeping with what the various title seeking guides say should happen- ie there should be some level of interaction.

I tried the trick of doing the bones mission at the Nexus and dropping a base next to the contact, but since the latest update, now that Korvax just becomes a regular dude like on the spade stations and the other one on site is a fossil trader.

Anyone else having issues with this title or am i just doing it wrong?

Unpopular opinion maybe [Discussion]

I see a lot of people in this sub making comments about what could be added to the game and I have been one of them. But then I come to the realisation that I've enjoyed over 400 hours out of the €20 I payed 7 years ago and think maybe it's time to buy a new game that already has those things I'd like added to this one (and maybe come back for the next expedition). Don't get me wrong. I was told by this community how one of the cool things about this game is how much community feedback the developers have taken into account in every update and I have too come to love that. I'm all for discussing new ideas and how the game could still get even better... it just makes me think when some feedback sounds more like a complaint...

I have no idea what is going on. But I've been "trying" to play for the last 2 hours. Everytime I go to do a mission from The Nexus my game crashes or for that matter do anything. Is it even worth using the Terrain Manipulator to help build my base, or would I just be wasting my time? [Question]

I think I’ve found my paradise planet and the area I want to build my permanent base on. However, the area is a bit rough and could use a bit of flattening. I’ve heard countless stories of people’s bases getting filled in after the terrain regenerates due to updates and the like. Is there a way to ensure the terrain doesn’t regenerate, or building a certain way so that the terrain isn’t flooding my base?

Doubts about Space Freighters [Question]

Hello, Travelers. I have two questions. Freighters destroyed in Space, what can I do? Can you interact with them? On the planets it is more evident, but in space I am not clear about the matter. On the other hand, can you raid other freighters? Open fire, access the cargo in any way? When flying over one, I see the multi-tool symbol, so I can shoot... Thank you!

What's the highest paradise quotient planet you've come across? [Discussion]

Mine's somewhere around 96.5%. it's pretty lovely, although I'm extremely curious as to just how close a planet can get to ultimate perfection, and if there's really any noticeable variance between the differing percentages. All I really do in the game now is explore and wait for upcoming expeditions, and every single 'paradise' planet I come across I land on just to see if I can find a 97% or higher. I sort of hope I don't tho tbh because I spent hours building up my portal base on the 96% planet lol. I'm happy to share coordinates if anybody wants to check out my shitty graffiti skills 😄

No Man's Sky Tips & Tricks: Travelling No Atmosphere Planets! [Video]

Go to space anomaly all the way in the back, and go to " Construction Research Station." Make sure to scroll to Transport Modules and there you will see "Nomad Geobay" Make sure to purchase that!

Find a planet with No Atmosphere, and install the vehicle's platforms on such planet.

Have some insane fun by travelling. You can travel the whole planet with this no doubt!

On Lowella, the Hub planet in Euclid, I was looking through the bases listed on the teleport portal and saw somebody have a base named "Boinky's Floating Boudoir" which is my base name on Lowella, with my name "Boinky" in it, but this base is shown as belonging to a player named Queen B

A Base Build Visit Counter [Suggestion]

I enjoy building bases on populated planets, just like many other travelers. When you construct a base on a planet with random players, a key motivation is to showcase your creation. However, there's no way to track how many people have visited, so I wish Hello Games would add a visitor counter feature.

I recently started to play NMS again, i stopped playing in like mid 2022. Just visited a base i've put up when i was a noob.
It is a planet with a robotic lifeform. I visited the planet the first time after like 3 years, and today i stumbled over this guy. It's my pet now :-)

Constant storm/ most extreme planets? [Discussion]

I really love the ambience this game provides, it truly is special. There's something so gratifying about closing yourself off in a little corner of a hostile world and building a cozy haven to relax in and watch the chaos go by outside. So far (despite my constant searching) I've never found a snowstorm world where the storms never end. My very first permanent base was on a heimal planet, but it's always calm there. I have however found a planet where the radiation storms go off all the time, so at least that's something. Windy planets used to be great when you could sit on a chair and randomly be cast off into space, but now that the bug's been fixed they don't really have any appeal now. What's the most extreme planet you've ever found where the storms are never-ending and there's little to find outside but death? Those are the best ones lol

It was by like a Dissonance thing. I fixed the 3 things by installing the brain and mirror…. It’s a C class and it looks just as good with more inventory slots then my A class ship…. Should I invest in upgrading this thing? Is there a way to upgrade a ships class?

4 player ships [Suggestion]

Hi Hello Games team,

I wanted to share an idea that could really enhance the multiplayer experience in No Man’s Sky. Currently, each player pilots their own ship, which works well for solo play—but it would be amazing to have the option for a larger, shared starship built for cooperative gameplay. Something akin to Sea of Thieves' galleon system.

Here’s the concept:

Introduce a large multiplayer-capable ship that can be crewed by up to 4 players.

Roles could include pilot, engineer (ship systems), gunner (turrets), and explorer (scanner/landing ops).

This ship would be distinct from personal starships—maybe slower, but heavily customizable and built for group exploration or combat.

Keep solo ships like they are (like a sloop in Sea of Thieves), but offer this as an optional co-op experience.

It would add a deeper sense of teamwork, shared ownership, and spacefaring adventure. Whether exploring planets, fending off Sentinels, or jumping to new galaxies—it’d be awesome to do it together on the same deck.

Thanks for everything you’ve done with the game so far—it’s incredible how far it’s come. I hope this idea fits into the universe you’re building

Cross save settlements question… [Question]

I recently was allowed to start cross saving on No Man’s Sky. I have it on both Switch and PS5. Here is something I learned, which was probably already known but it was new to me. Switch doesn’t have settlements for no mans sky. But my cross save on my ps4 does have that option. What I mean is, that you can’t purchase a settlement map on switch. But you can on ps4.

Question: if I obtain a settlement on my ps4 game and cross save….will I still have settlement on switch? How does that work?

Can you get a freighter upgrade module (salvaged fleet unit) from an envoy? [Question]

Wiki says it's possible, it definitely was possible before the patch, from an exploration guild one, but I visited like 50+ already and no luck.

I know they fixed instant respawn, so you can no longer get all the upgrades jumping between stations, now the inventory respawn after certain number of visits to other stations, but what about the offer? Is the upgrade still there?

Consumables [Question]

Does anybody have information or a link that helps with what to put in the egg sequencer and to feed living frigates? It’s about the only area of the game I have no knowledge in. When I go to the egg sequencer I just put random things from my inventory. I would like to know what the best things to put are. Same with feeding living frigates. Is there any other use of consumables besides that, and consuming them urself?

Jumped from my spaceship to a planet [Discussion]

Jumped from my freighter just to see what would happen lol. I thought I tried it before and it just respawned me back on my ship. Nope I went into a free fall through space and through the planets atmosphere all the way to the surface. Not sure I’ve ever been able to do that in a game before. The whole experience and free fall took around ten minutes. Two suns were rising at the same time and it just looked really cool. I’m a newer player and the breadth of the game is just incredible. Some of the coolest things I’ve seen in a game and I have nobody to recommend it to.

HELP! I can’t find construction room on the freighter I just got [Question]

I just got a freighter as a reward for saving it from pirates. I was going through the quest line and it told me to follow the hallway. At the end of the hallway is a weapons terminal. The only other room is the fleet command station. I even looked it up on the wiki and it said the same thing. In the hallway up the green stairs. This room is not here… what do I do?

Died in space [Question]

So I was repairing one of my frigates in my fleet and like an idiot managed to fall off into space and die. I wasn't in my ship and so I respawned in the space station. I did not seem to loose any of my inventory but I wanted to make sure that is the case as I cannot see any sort of grave marker or such and I don't want to possibly lose something.

The weirdest Ship glitch [Bug]

Me and a buddy after having 200 hours decided to finally start going through missions and when we went through the second glyph portal it changed his ship to my s class ship. He didn’t lose any storage space or any gain any, but he did get all my speed and basically turned his ship into mine without the storage. Anyone else run into anything like this?

Suggestion: Binary Star Systems for a More Realistic Universe [Suggestion]

Hello Hello Games team!

First of all, thank you for everything you’ve built with No Man’s Sky. The game has grown in amazing ways, and it’s exciting to see how you always listen to the community.

I would like to suggest something based on real astronomy: adding binary star systems (solar systems with two suns). In reality, most stars exist in binary or multiple systems, so this would make space exploration feel even more immersive and magical.

Imagine planets with two light sources, double sunsets, dynamic shadows, unique climates due to double sun exposure, or even rare astronomical events like twin eclipses. I believe this would be both visually stunning and add new layers to gameplay.

Thank you for reading and for continuing to expand this beautiful universe.

Went to the NMSTG planet (Lowella) [NMSTG Hub]

And I am now struck by two Sunday realisations: that I am never going to build and upload a base ever again and also immediately go out and buy a mad spec PC so I can see things better than on my trusty ol' Switch. Seems to just be giving me a random selection of 3 or 4 bases each load so I'll be here a while a-wandering and a-wondering.

Red/yellow sentinel ship with 3+1 SC Slot [Screenshot]

Quite like this 1, Tried my best to find 4 adjacent SC, but no luck after checked all of them in that small planet. Base left for this 3+1.

Euclid galaxy, don’t forget disable multiplayer.

I still have a bunch of nice ships waiting to be share, they all 100% found myself with nice SC slots. I ll slowly post them(about 2-3 ships a day). Any 1 got any ship preference pls feel free to let me know so I can post them out on my next post if I have. Or simply follow me so always can easily see the new ships.

Are There Tidally Locked Planets? [Question]

I had an idea for a dual bases on opposite sides of a planet and thought it would be cool if they mirrored each other in look and feel. Then I thought it would be even cooler if one base was always in the sunlight and one vase was always in darkness, but I haven’t encountered a tidally locked planet in my roaming. Do they exist in-game?

Can not switch to other tools using the terrain manipulator indoors? [Bug]

Found an interesting bug yesterday. I have a mold farm that is completely enclosed due to aggressive sentinels. I accidentally had the terrain manipulator selected and destroyed some of the ground where the curious deposits were. I tried to change the manipulator to the restore tool but it would not switch. I swapped multi-tools, still no luck. I left the base and came back, still did not work. I finally went outside the building to test it and it worked fine. With the restore tool still selected I went back in the enclosure and was able to fix the damage to the ground.

Can't build a landing pad at a settlement. [Bug]

So, I found a settlement on one planet, and whilst I was building a landing pad at that one. I decided to take over another settlement on a nicer planet in another system. It was whilst I was going the "A Trace of Metal" quest and the settlement was being attacked. As soo as I took over, the sentinels arrived. Now I finished that part of the quest, and built the office, but now I cannot build a landing pad/market place. And my old settlement has gone. Am I doomed to not have one at this settlement? Is it worth just abandoning it and finding another? Thanks.

TDIL about Abandoned SpaceStations [Information]

Did you know that if you go up to the second level on both the left and right sides of an abandoned station there are all the basic space station items available? Exosuit upgrades, teleporters, galactic sales terminals. I even found a frigate module in a box. It always pays to poke around in this game.

Unable to play the vr version of the game [Question]

I verified the game files already. When I launch the game in vr via virtual desktop, I get as far as the loading screen with all of the stars and their names, and can’t get further. The longest I waited was 30 minutes. I tried launching the flatscreen version, and it took about 10 seconds to get past that screen. I tried vr again and still nothing. Can anybody help me with this?

Selling "exotic" goods [Question]

When I say exotic I mean things like forged passports, blood salt, yeah yeah etc. basically allmthe stuff you find in black market systems. My question is does the but/sell percentage make a difference when SELLING them in a regular system. Like usually when I sell them it's upwards of 130% but I'm wondering if I can get more selling them in a system with a higher sell% or if that's just for legal goods.

Am I missing out? [Discussion]

I just learned settlements are not a thing in No Man’s Sky on switch…which sucks. I got lucky and was able to take part of the cross save feature. My save file on ps4 has a settlement…my save on the switch does not. Even though it’s the same character and file.

I love my switch, and played 99% of the game on the switch. But now finding out some features, like settlements and multiplayer, are limited I am wondering what else I missed out on by not playing on a more upgraded console like the PS, Xbox or PC.

Really been fun grabbing these crazy creatures, I actually shared this one with a greenhorn who was visiting the anomaly for the first time. He asked how I had a dinosaur. I'm on console and was getting ready for bed so I just sent them the egg and logged off...

As I was falling asleep I started laughing my ass off when I realized I had dumped over 7k of cadmium into his egg for growth...

And obviously it looks much smaller on the anomaly...

Hope they don't have a heart attack when they spawn it on a planet!

First time thing (for me) [Information]

So, I have a little over a thousand hours in-game, over several save files, but I just had a new encounter!

While exploring a giant system, I received a call from one of my frigates asking for assistance in a fight against well-armed enemies! After the call, I warped to the designated system and engaged in a small dogfight within the expedition's mission!

I'm sure this has happened to others many times, but it was a great new experience for me (getting to answer a call to battle for my own fleet task force)!!

Glitchy Audience with the autophage quest [Bug]

I can't seem to accept this autophage's Mission cuz apparently I have another bounty in progress. I don't know if it's a bug or I'm just blind. Destroyed pirate dreadnought and got nothing [Bug]

So I’m slowly making my way to the center of the universe, and I happen upon a freighter vs freighter battle. I get excited because people say that this is a good way to get S-modules.

I destroy the pirates’ engines, then shield, then guns. It surrenders and then I destroy them anyway, get a message saying I can go to civilian ship for bigger reward.

Thinking that I missed something, I scour the remains of the pirates freighter looking for cargo containers to shoot when suddenly I see the message that the civilian freighter is under attack again. Pirate star fighters come out, in defeat them, but no longer see the victory message. I land on the civilian ship and am offered to buy it, but no reward.

How did I miss on the reward? What should I have done differently to get a module reward

What dafug is up with Expeditions [Question]

I just “finished” the game, I’ll still want to play, upgrade my suit, freighter, etc. and I wanna find someone good for side quests I may have missed (I think there’s some after the main quests?). But what the hell is up with expeditions?! You just can’t replay them?!??! I love this game and wanted to play the core experience and upgrade my character a bit before playing multiplayer, but now I’ve apparently missed the most recent one?!? With the kickass armor?!? Not only that there’s a list of grayed out badges for the expeditions that will never be complete unless I knew to play years ago. It’s EXTREMELY unsatisfying. This some destiny shit, and it’s pissing me off. Please make this better, idc if it’s devs fixing this shit or players revealing to me some piece of information that makes it all better, but someone better do something

I have a question about freighter warp rules [Question]

Hello I recently got a sentinel starship that I started using. I'm kind of a noob at this game. So it has a really long warp length of like 700 light years. On the galaxy map it shows a path of longer segments than normal to the galactic center but still shorter than 700 light years because i tried warping much farther than the recommended Galactic Center path and it worked! with my new sentinel ship. But then I couldn't summon my freighter. So i had to warp backwards.

So what should I do? Am I shackled and fettered to the warp length of my freighter? Is that what determines the Galactic Center Path on the galaxy map (the yellow stepped line?) I also noticed that I could summon my freighter after using a black hole, but not after charging up and using a portal. So: what are the rules for summoning my freighter what determines the length of the yellow path line to galactic center on the galaxy map what should I do in this situation with a fancy new ship with a long warp length? how do I increase my freighter's warp range to equal my ship's warp range, for example, maybe? Is it very hard or expensive?

How to find people? [Question]

So I've been playing for a little bit after moving over to PC and during a nexus mission I made friends with a very helpful player. Showed me new things I didn't know about the game but most importantly showed me a very good nanite farm. But when we parted ways I forgot to favorite the portal so I can't find my way back. We are friends in game but he is on console and I didn't ask about discord so we have no way of messaging each other (he's active on reddit so he will probably see this). So my question is: is there a way of finding someone in game when you are friends with them?

Newbie here: I am LOST [Question]

Hi, I saw a tweet from Sean Murray about a post in here "RIP my permadeath save" and it made me download the game and throw myself into it but.... Maybe 15-18 hours into the game and I'm hella lost. Like I'm at a point where I got a translator from Artemis, got the tools to fix it and all. But I'm most on things to do, how to get money, how/where to get new ships, how to get more storage. All those "basic" things I'd say but I'm not sure what to do.. I'm just going around from planets to planets, from solar system on another and I'm repeating the same thing but at this point I'm wondering "How do I progress" I follow the main missions but since I have no idea how to get stuff, ships, money, space in my inventory I feel like I'm stagnating

I figure this is something newbie go through in this game but if you have any advice, tips, they'll be more than welcome.

(Dont' know if the game is crossplay but if so, if anyone wants to play or help me in-game, it could be fun)

Revisiting After Four Years [Discussion]

Four years ago, when I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life (now I’m 50, and I still don’t know), I tried my hand at streaming, and would often play No Man’s Sky.

After a few months, I went back to a menial job, and stopped playing. But after foot surgery at the end of March this year, I downloaded the game near the end of April.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve started my third relaxed play through, already logging almost 30 hours in the first two saves.

I forgot how much I enjoyed the gameplay, even with the bugs and quirks.

Anyway, that’s all for now.

Base building [Question]

Any way to stop random parts from disappearing? I was continuing some base construction today and noticed parts started disappearing. First a potted tree I had made ( thought that was weird so I remade it), then some floating lilies (ooooook? Let's put those back), and then some crystal rocks 😭 Been working on it for a while and have only one building mostly complete now but I don't want to waste my time if parts are going to keep disappearing.

Exotic Ships of the NMSTG Hub Region [NMSTG Hub]

I've been doing some exotic hunting in-and-around the NMSTG Hub system, and here are my first results. The star attraction is the red squid that turned up 20 LY from Lowella. Everything else I found was some form of V-wing, with my favorite of those being the gray-white royal in the Iuntigo system. Finding these ships is time-consuming, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to do more. I would love to see other players join the effort and add your own finds.

Living Ship or S Class Exotic? [Discussion]

Help me decide. I am a returning player after a 2 year hiatus. I have a living ship that has some upgrades not all. Then I have one of the original S class Exotics that has a lot of upgrades.

Would I do best just keeping my Exotic as primary ship? I like both but I find upgrading the living ship difficult unless I’m doing something wrong.

This Moment Broke Me... [Screenshot]

I wasn't expecting a depressing moment in NMS. But, this scene broke me as I had a dog who was gravely ill. Similar to NMS, my dog, Sury, couldn't eat without vomiting it up. She would have to eat medicated food, and we would need to find her very specific treats that wouldn't harm her sensitive stomach. Just like in NMS, we decided to euthanize her after she collapsed and was hanging by the thinnest thread of life.

I broke down after euthanizing the creature. It was a heartbreaking moment.

Strange mouse menu bug (please help) [Help Video]

I've had this weird bug happening for my entire time playing NMS (about a hundred hours) and never really paid attention to it, until when watching other people's gameplay, I thought the menus looked so smooth. Basically, when I open any sort of menu, the cursor locks itself at the second dialog option UNTIL I try moving it, where it abruptly snaps to wherever it should be. Unwanted kindness [Question]

When I land in the nexus and see a fellow traveller blocking the walkway--likely intent on placing valves in my inventory--and I run away from them, jetpack over them, do anything I possibly can to make it clear I am fleeing in terror--and they still follow me to the other end of the nexus and deposit said valves in my inventory as I am warping home...am I somehow the a__hole? Fix for a tilted Base Computer? [Question]

I was building a new base and went to move my base computer. Now, it is inexplicably sitting at a 45 degree angle and no matter what I do, it will not level itself with the floor. Why can't I reach the center of Hilbert like I did in Euclid? [Question]

I reached the first galactic core just fine, then I did the same in Hilbert and it's like no matter where I try to make the jump from (always with a full drive) or how meticulous I am in following the jumps leading up to it, I just can't seem to get the option to appear to make it to the next dimension. I go to the center, and there's just nothing to select, just a bright unreachable star mocking me. What am I doing wrong here?

Odd 99.5 Perfect Marsh Planet [Screenshot]

It really feels like this number is made up. I never expected the game to pick a marsh world. It's pretty peaceful but there is a predator fauna in the ocean. See the other photos for the landscape and system info.

After 2000+ hours, I finally decided to try a settlement. Got lucky the very first time I tried to find one. [Screenshot]

I found a Paradise planet with blue skies and water, but didn't want to build another base. So I fired off a settlement chart and found this. Settlement started as a B-class with 66 Korvax settlers initially, several good sized lakes and near the coast (~1000u) with Blissful weather. Remarkably, found in a harsh Galaxy, Iousongola (255). I ended up building an overlapping base anyway sigh.

NMS planet generation and geometrical proofs [Discussion]

I think I discovered my newest NMS OCD sidequest.

You can't create a spherical object using all hexagons, there must be at least 12 pentagons. Soccer balls, google it.

If HG has done the math right (and Sean maths), that means that on any Hexagonal planet, there must be a minimum of 12 pentagons to discover and mark. On giant planets, it could take hours to find them.

So The Living Ships Might be Plants? [Screenshot]

So i found this weird planet where the plants all look like parts from living ships. Like the Thrust control part of the ships is similar to these small curved plants coming out of the ground. The bigger Plants look like the outside of some of the living ships. Theres even the pulsating ridges on them. It kinda made me think maybe these plants are related(headcanon) to those ships.

A Kind player gifted me 600M and a bug deleted my whole inventory. [Discussion]

I'm writing this post to thank and apologize to the Kind player that gifted me 50x Starship AI Valves.

I don't know if you'll ever read this but thank you, I didn't even have time to read your name because I was checking my inventory. Just know that you made my day.

I started playing the game a week ago, didn't even have a Cargo Ship, used all my money to trade my newbie ship for an S rank fighter and left all my items inside while trading, lesson learned.

Was having fun, coop sucks, but the game is great, and after the kind player gifted me all that money I decided to go and find a Station where I could sell for more than 0.1%.

While doing so I stopped by a base where I found a wrecked ship, saw that I had a Main quest on said planet (had to go find a hologram tower to call Apollo) and I used my Hovercraft to go there.

Wasn't used with the controls of the Hovercraft yet, and they're kinda wonky too, I came close to a Vulcan (molten planet) and panicked.

The Hovercraft got stuck, I died to the Heat (which just melted my shield instantly) and lost all my inventory.

I lost all my main mats (I only had the 0 number storage and put the valuables in there.

Lost my atlas pass v3, all the bade mats, actually you can see a bit of my storage in the picture I added.

Now I feel dumb and sad, lost the gift from the nice player and lost all my progress, I tried farming stuff again, but my shield got damaged when I lost everything and without mats I couldn't fix it and couldn't stay in the Molten planet any more.

My home base is a Poison planet and without a shield farming is a nightmare.

Don't think I'll have the courage to continue.

Um... How do I delete this now? [Question]

Tried to make an orbital base. Placed a landing pad in the air while zooming in after claiming a base on the ground. Reloaded. Landind pad didn't disapear. Placed a base computer on it and claimed a base. Fell to delete the base on the ground. Summoned my ship. Landing pad disapeared. How do I delete this thing now? Actually have no idea. Tried to fly to it using build camera, but the ground under my character disapeared and camera reseted. Should I try landing my character on it after falling from a freighter?

Floating island base [Bug]

Tried to build a base on a floating island, and as soon as I finally built my way up there and started building (ship wouldn’t land on the island surface), it broke the auto-align/build tool. Constructed objects now all intersect and it’s basically unusable. Anyone know of a way to fix this or should I give up?

Game generation and storage [Question]

So from what I've seen about no mans sky is it's basically stored on a separate server that everyone has access to and thus something someone makes anyone can find and the reason no man's sky required such little storage even tho the game is technically huge is because your only storing your creations. Correct me if I'm wrong this is just from I've read and understand but if it's wrong please correct me as I'm genuinely curious.

Did the living ship/freighter bulkhead bug/trick get patched out? [Question]

I found a bunch of mentions that if you have your living ship in the freighter as your active ship, that applying a freighter bulkhead expansion would also expand whatever ship you are currently using. This, naturally, fit well for expanding a living ship which requires sacs to expand which requires a living frigate and time.

Those mentions were 2 or 3 years ago.

First encounter with an A hole. [Build]

Been playing this game for a while. Stopped after my brother who I played with died 5 years ago. Came back and everything is so new and different and amazing. Completely hooked again. Spent a week or so working on a void egg someone so nicely gifted me my first time in the anomaly only to get to where you enter the portal address and some asshole built a base and resized a teleporter to insane levels. Crashed my ps5 every time I logged in. Just spent 2 hours resetting, logging in and moving 2’ away until I could summon my ship. Everyone I have encountered has been wonderful and done emojis at me and been great. Except for one prick. Vent over. Just surprised to find my first instance of someone being a prick and felt like venting.

The rest of you are awesome. Anyone have extra void motes lol?!

Please please please can we get some lore on where the HELL all the starships came from? Freighters and frigates too? Hopefully something more than just "well the atlas made it that way." Planets Change??? [Question]

Guys Im soo confused. After a long while of not playing on this save, I decided to visit one of my old bases. This base was originally set up on a paradise Blue planet with bluetiful blue grass. You can imagine my suprise, sadness, and disappointment when I realized upon arrival that it's no longer a paradise planet, and it's no longer blue!!! 😭😭😭 Its now a Vapour planet and has vile brood and It looks like its been completely destroyed!!! I guess my question is this: Can planets change??? Help!

Are the local hazards supposed to damage you inside your base? [Question]

Hi all, I've had both the "electrical storm" local hazard and the "toxic gas cloud" both damage me while inside bases. I also had a fire inside my base on one planet (posted a pic of my biodome on fire). I'm wondering if that is the intended effect or an unusual occurance.

Have you been damaged inside your base from these or other local hazards? I feel like I'm safe underground in a cave or just digging down with terrain manipulator, but just seems like inside base should provide protection.

Like before you can activate the Pulse Drive (which I think is a dubious even sci-fi concept) and you were flying in a system from one planet to another & it says it will take you 12 minutes - would anyone want that somewhat reality?

Goatfungus Save Editor not transferring to game. [Question]

My daughter and I play NMS and to skip past some of the grind we use the save editor. However randomly the editor stopped replacing the save in the actual game. New to the game, SEVERAL questions about companion pets [Question]

Playing with my partner and we immediately noticed that our pets are not the same color for one another... For some inexplicable reason. I had a pink butterfly snake(?) with yellow highlights that he saw as a plasticky highlighter yellow color. He has a purple one with pink highlights that I see as purple with yellow for some reason. I had another creature that was a nice red color and he saw it as a gross brown/green. Why is this? It's actually incredibly annoying wasting resources changing their colors via breeding only for the other person to see something wildly different.

That leads me to my next question.

2: breeding. What materials can guarantee overdosing the anatomy section? I've noticed the game hard caps a LOT of material at 100% (I've tried ferrite dust, carbon, sodium, cobalt, gold, silver, uranium, plenty of other raw materials) and doesn't let me use more? Which then results in an identical creature with 0 anatomy change.

Can butterfly snakes even HAVE anatomy changes? I've seen pictures of some with different wings, or 3 sets of wings instead of just 2, but every one I've hatched has had 0 change so I feel like I'm just wasting material.

Why do pets just randomly change sometimes?? I scoured a planet for a triceratops-like creature with relatively good anatomy and proportions (most had incredibly tiny heads and long legs), found one relatively short and wide with a gigantic head that actually looked a lot like a proportionate triceratops, but after I adopted it and summoned it, it grew 5x in size, its head shrunk, and its color changed??

Anyone else generally feel like using expedition reward ships goes against the vibe of the game? [Question]

I don't want to dunk on anyone that loves their reward ship, I'm just discussing a personal preference of mine and wondered if anyone else felt similarly.

For me the whole idea of the game is to explore and find cool and unique things (or more recently explore and find pieces you need to build your own unique things) so using a reward ship that's just the same as everyone else's reward ship feels kinda of antithetical to that. It removes that uniqueness factor that seems to be otherwise so integral to the NMS experience: unique systems with unique planets and unique fauna and unique ships to find and collect.

Again, not to rag on anyone that likes using their reward ships, but when I go into the anomaly and there's half a dozen of the exact same ship parked up instead of a myriad of different designs it kinda spoils things for me.

To a lesser extent I feel similarly about multi-tools/staffs, but they aren't nearly so visible to other players.

Anyone else get this feeling or am I just being a buzzkill?

Attacked by 50 ships [Bug]

So I was chasing down an outlaw and was getting shot at from behind. I turn around and there are a dozen ships shooting at me. They seem to keep multiplying and by the end there’s like 50 of them. I was on permadeath so I shit my pants and ran to the Anomaly. Anyone else have this happen??

I'm not using Navigation Data, should I? [Discussion]

I'm pretty new, so I might be overlooking something, but the points of interest that the cartographer offer seem like a waste of time. I do explore the ones I find organically, but I don't go out of my way to buy the charts and go find them.

I always have other stuff to do and keep getting distracted by more stuff, so I have a bunch of nav data taking up inventory space.

Also, I'm already in charge of a settlement, is there any incentive to have more than one?

Am I permanently screwed and need to start a new game? [Question]

About 8 hours in, got shot down by I believe pirates and am stranded on a planet. Ship launch thruster damaged and requires pure ferrite. I can't mine the pure ferrite near me since I don't have the advanced mining laser. I also don't have any wiring looms to be able to create one, and none of the tools I have that can be dismantled will yield any wiring looms. I also have barely any money, and even if I did there are no settlements near me to buy from.

Is there any alternative I'm missing that can get me out of this situation?

Which SC slot layout is better? [Screenshot]

Ignore the broken stuff I haven't wasted time cleaning up yet. Of these 2 SC slot layouts, which is "better?" Trying to decide which to keep and build out and which to salvage.

I'm on a permadeath save, wanting to build an all-around ship versus hard-core in any particular area like damage, hyperdrive, etc.

Old hand on switch new to Mac and updates. Settings for re-entering the game [Question]

Hi all. Avid fan of the game just re entering in a new system which just happens to be Mac for now although soon to be PC. Sorry in advance for long post.

I played this game in relaxed mode on the switch. I’m terrible at any form of shooting although I must admit I’d did improve over 77 hrs. I’m not a ‘gamer’ per se however I recently installed it on my Mac and it looks glorious. I am also looking at getting into PC gaming and I know this will be on my hot list.

First off I’ve started the game three times and created three saves. 1. Was normal 2. Relaxed 3. Custom super relaxed. Only thing I left in was need to earn upgrades via salvaged data and also didn’t want to be able to hyperdrive everywhere. Plus I left space combat to minimal. I was enjoying this but sort of wanted to get close to my 77 hour version on switch a bit faster so made purchases free. This completely ruined the game for me. And now I regret my S rating on a mining tool I didn’t even pay for. It feels fake. So I’m going to start again.

Could someone help me with a good guide for settings. (I know some can be changed in game but I’d like to persevere and not change when I feel like it as I have seen how this spoils the enjoyment of achievement, maybe game with a little difficulty but not die instantly. Essentially I want to play relaxed and not worry too much about fuel so don’t mind that being discounted and like I say I’m terrible at combat thought maybe this is a chance to practice. However I don’t want everything attacking me as I’m grumpy. I dint really understand ‘standing with other species’ but I guess that means I give them a gift and they like me more. I had that on super fast and I’m already besties with Gek in 2 hours. I know I need patience but has could anyone suggest a custom setting that suits my needs but still...

Why is the Cyn faction ruining the game? [Discussion]

I would just like to raise awareness about the youtube channel 'Professor Cynical' and how they are trying to take every system in the elucid galaxy and name it 'Cyn controlled' I think that this is so stupid and just ruining the game for everyone else. If all they wanna do is cause harm, then they can go play a different online game, and leave our peaceful little exploration alone. Playing off-line [Question]

How possible/practical is it to play NMS off-line? I have tried starting it up while disconnected, but it shows me warnings about losing my save.

I’m going through a move and connectivity will be dodgy the next few days. I can survive without it, but I LIKE THIS GAME!

Baker's Dozen (Colossal Stone Effigy Search) [Screenshot]

The methodology I used (and refined along the way) to discover Colossal Stone Effigies is: Navigate to "purple systems" w/Freighter and scan planets for anything that has the name of "Relic", "Ruined", in its reference -> or of course "The Reliquary". Head to planet and immediately mark both poles (North & South) with Save Beacon (aids in navigation), then, Scan for both Planet Portal (with Elixir of Quicksilver) and Sentinel Pillar/Hive (using Sentinel Boundary Map - to avoid unnecessary/annoying/distracting sentinel skirmishes)

With the portal and the sentinel pillar(s) mapped ( using Save Beacons), I originally would simply fly North to South and South to North - and begin by using the portal and pillars and reference points in a line. I typically hit any additional sentinel hive/pillar quickly (which also produces the useful byproduct of collecting sentinel related parts all over the planet during continued searching).

ADDITIONAL NOTE(S): There were three (3) instances that I was able to find the Effigy while en-route between the Portal and first Sentinel Pillar/Hive. Exceptions to this were encountered when a "Sentinel Boundary Map" would reveal a location "off planet" (happened in systems with Gas Giants).

I discovered that I can easily find the Effigies along with all kinds of waypoints - in a fairly quick manner following this method (vs just flying around in some randomized order "at night" or making use of companion pets).

It's also worth noting that the "Paleontological Dig Sites" also glow - but they do it with a combined yellowish white/blue glow (where the effigies simply glow a much brighter blue than the traditional "memory stones" do).

The ONLY serious challenge was either weather-related (Firestorm, etc) or "Dissonant" planets/moons due to obscure visibility or overly complex "glows".

Fun with Base Power Generation Sites (closeups on following images) [Build]

I've been having fun arranging power generators and thought I'd share a few builds for (hopefully) some enjoyment, but also to see what you other Interlopers have been inspired to do with your generators.

Why Do This? It’s Efficient: Stacking around the core of the build puts all generators at/near the peak field intensity and output It’s Fun: It's a creative building challenge. I try to echo other shapes in the local environment with the power sources (think hokey cell tower trees); Or to support a theme for the base with the configuration of the power source; Or just to do something weird.

Is it Difficult?
Not particularly, but you do need to learn the basic ~8 glitch building techniques. As an example, here's an outline of the steps to building the Dandelion 2 generator site: Map the hotspot Drop a marker pin on the spot. Fuss with its location until it's at the max intensity. Rotate a small concrete or metal wall 90° so the marker line runs lengthwise through the center. Place a Terbium Growth on the top. Extend the small wall to connect into the Growth. Glitch a Capped Standing Light onto each of the round protrusions on the Growth. Glitch a Planetary Globe on the center-top of each Light. Delete the Lights. Scale a wire about 10 steps (25%) above the smallest possible. Wire glitch an electromagnetic generator at the inside-center of each Globe base, pointed inward. Wire it all together.

I have many questions Lore included [Discussion]

So, i tagged it as spoiler because i will say a few things that might be a spoiler.

I just came back into the game and im The furthest in the game ever (i also never looked into the lore before just exploded planet) and i just learned about something like the Atlas or something like the void mother and im so confused!

Like are there now two sides? Like the void guys and Atlas? Or is it just a community thing? Is there even a quest line about the void because all i have is: "Ghosts of the machines", The Space anomaly" and "The way of Atlas" or something. And what does "Being red or purple" mean?!

I also heard someone about simulation and so but im completely lost, ngl 💀.

I tried to Google all the lore and stuff but its way too much to get a good overview of all for a noobie like me. So could someone explain it to me, like everything important?

how to view DETAILED info on planets? [Question]

what i mean is info like planet size, and paradise qoutient, etc. its really annoying that the only way to do this is to look at the wonders section. in the discovery section, very little information is actually shown, so how on earth do i look at it

This is the biggest robot fauna I have ever seen, I was looking through some old bases and went to this base I placed on a planet which had Robots which I made years ago. I came back and walked out during a snow storm and saw this ominously on the skyline, I thought it was one of those massive trading outposts until it started to walk. Probably my craziest find in this game to date. feel free to come around and pick one up

So I played it a few years ago on the Xbox and had a lot of fun, but at some point it got repetitive so I stopped playing. What I'm wondering is if there's enough new content to even return to the game, or is it the same game it was 2 years ago with little bits of new content?

How to get the living ship from the void egg [Question]

So I want to get the living ship and I read online that if I buy a void egg from the expedition shop vendor on the anomally I can trigger the quest. My only problem is I already have void eggs that I didn't get off the vendor. Is it a requirement that I get it specifically from the vendor or am I triggering it wrong?

I genuinely think NMS runs great on switch [Discussion]

I had it in Xbox too before it died, then when I got a switch, obviously i needed to get NMS, even if people kept saying it didn't run as well (poorly running NMS is better than no NMS) but i feel like its a better overall experience on switch.
