Question about construction [Question]

Is it possible to build using two modules closed on top of each other? Two-story style? If so, would there be stairs to climb from one to the other and in this case, how would it be possible to get from one to the other since they are completely closed?

Early warning systems - Emergency Heaters used to signal danger… [Information]

Working on my space port… got 9 pads in operation and all busy with ship traffic …. I wondered if there was a need to have a warning system for authorities or more likely here swarming sentinels… I use Emergency heaters .. good visual range and anyone can use them. I have set several up all in various visual range and it works well…. Max Vram Usage (16GB) and Stutters on 50hr Save [Question]

I have a 9800x3d and a 9070 XT. I had been playing the game at 4k locked at 60fps with like 57-58fps 1% lows for around 50 hours. Nice, buttery smoothness.

Well now, I've started to notice occasional stutters and hangs, and I see that my vram usage is what I assume is essentially maxed out--it says something like 15,xxx mb. I can't say this for certain as I didn't deem it important enough to remember at the time, but I feel like it used to be closer to 12GB used.

I remember that Skyrim (at least way back in the day when it came out on Playstation) did something where the longer you played, your save file kept getting bigger and bigger, and it of course had it's share of performance issues...

Is this something No Man's Sky does, like utilize more vram the more you play? I just can't figure out why this would be happening "all of a sudden." I'd have to double check my game settings, but it's not fully maxed out. No other hardware or software changes have been made. This is the only game I'm currently playing.

Suggestions for Base location [Question]

Hi Travelers, I could use your advice and opinion on my first real base after arriving at Lush Galaxy Eissentam.

I have found a Paradis planet, but now I have the following question: Do I build my base somewhere where there is an energy hotspot (the highest I have found so far is an A-hotspot) or do I build directly at the portal as you can see in the pictures?

The disadvantage of the latter is that I don't have any energy source there and with just 80 hours of playtime I don't have any idea how to power my base properly (except with solar panels and lots of extra batteries?)

Not far from the portal is also a lake (which I have not yet explored in terms of depth) which could perhaps also serve as a spot for a base, but then the portal is probably more than 300u away.

I would be really happy if you could help me out with advice and ideas.

How do you stop nms from stopping the in game music while using spotify? [Question]

On xbox, if you have spotify open while playing no mans sky, the game automatically mutes its soundtrack. Now I get that that is useful for people listening to music on spotify while gaming, but I like to listen to podcasts while playing nms. I still love the nms soundtrack, so does anyone know of a way to keep the soundtrack while using spotify?

Help using portals [Question]

A friend of mine took a screenshot of a glyph sequence for me to travel to. In the sequence some of the glyphs are used multiple times.

I've traveled to a portal but am not sure how to enter the sequence as it appears you can only charge each glyph one time.

Limited free time [Discussion]

I've been doing better at making sure that I get the expeditions done. But I have to admit. I give up on this one. Who in their right mind was like "you know what gamers really love doing? Spending their free time collecting 80 fossils. Because they're dumb. And after collecting 10, they still won't know how to do it. So yeah. 80. And you know what. Let's spread them out. If there's not at least 850u between each one, then they're too close."

Like. What? Spent an hour yesterday and managed to get 30. Then gave up dejected. I work too much and have other things I need to do. Collecting fossil after fossil isn't entertaining in the slightest.

Different planet-look in switch and steam [Question]

I build a base playing on switch. Only a little base to get silver. On Switch it looks like the first picture. When i go under Steam to my base, i´m under the earth. I have to shot my way to get outside. Also my ship is in the rock. But you con go in and start normaly. This is the first time, i see these Differences. Does something like this happen often?

PS5 Sky Glitching [Bug]

Does anyone have any ideas? I've tweaked what settings I can on the PS5 and the game; it doesn't start up right away but within 30 minutes this flickering starts while I'm moving around planets. Originally I thought it was triggered by construction (I have been working on a big base) but in this case I was just walking around a planet.

I've tried Googling and some others have suggested they're seeing it as of Worlds (I), but if it's a bug, I'm surprised it's gone on this long. It's really annoying and it's starting to cause me to curtail my play.

I haven't noticed any issues with any other games, and while I've noticed a few minor other issues with Worlds (commonly seen when descending to water planets with a lot of glowing underwater fauna) I'm wondering if it might be NMS pushing too hard on a PS5 that might have a minor issue with it's graphics card.

I made the jump now what⤵️ [Question]

So I finally made it to the center of the universe. I made the jump to hillbert dimension. I’m trying to make the jump out of a system that it put me in but the closest system as well as the fur system. Also stay out of jump range. What is the reason for this? Am I supposed to look for a new engine piece in this system that they dropped me in?

BASE PARTS DISAPPEARING [Bug]

I've been trying to build a base on one of the water worlds introduced with the recent update, but everytime I log out and back in, a significant amount of base parts disappeared, I tried using save beacons and uploading it, but nothing helps and the bug is consistent, has anyone struggled with something similar and knows a fix for it ?

Refined my Pirate Fugitive Save rules and started a new run tonight [Fan Work]

Found an alien looking paradise planet in a pirate system in my first session, so going well so far.

My Pirate Fugitive save rules: You can't use the starter ship, you have to find an abandoned one, (or con a landed pilot out of their ship, trading your starter ship, in a 'ditch and switch' to put the authorities off your scent Only commit piracy against whatever race isn't crewing your freighter Hunting down other pirates for bounty, is fair game Build a base and run a settlement in a pirate system and fight off all the pirates that attack it. Only have a pirate freighter and pirate frigates, (after your first freighter) fly a mean looking solar ship. Only install x class upgrades (which means sometimes they're bad!) If you encounter a pirate dreadnaught attacking a freighter, make the Pirate surrender, rob it, then destroy it, recruit its frigates, destroy the civilian fleet and get out of the system. Buy nothing, steal everything (trade with roaming traders is okay) but buying and selling via normal galactic trade terminals is forbidden. (Pirate system trade terminals and the scrap dealer are okay though) You can use the anomaly, but you can't buy anything there, but being gifted stuff is okay within the piracy ethos. using galactic station teleports is not allowed, only Pirate stations or your own base teleports. You can only join and max out the mercenaries guild and only use their freebies Multitools only from Pirate systems. Never commit acts of piracy in pirate controlled systems unless provoked.

Tips:

Start the save in custom mode, with the only change being to the 'don't do tutorials' option, so you get a head start.

When looking for abandoned ships, wave at any flying over, one may land and you can switch ships with them.

Grab any freighter you are offered, the sooner you have one, the sooner you'll trigger the pirate...

A few questions I have as a beginner! [Question]

I have played about 8 hours so far, and I am enjoying it overall. It's such a massive game though, and I'm completely overwhelmed by everything so I just have some questions

I got into this because I love exploration games with animal management and I was reccomended No Mans Sky. I don't want to look stuff up because I'm afraid of spoilers, so can anyone tell me if this is very in depth? I haven't figured out how to make those creature pellets yet but I'll figure that out in time. I'm just wondering if there's stuff like animal breeding, if you can explore with them or if they're just kept as livestock, etc?

Anything I should never sell or always sell? For example, I just found a huge gold deposit, but I don't know how important it is to keep, and it sells for a lot of money obviously.

Mouse and Keyboard or Controller?

Tips for nav with the spaceship? It's hard to control and it makes me so dizzy lol

And just, general tips I guess?

I am familar playing with grindy games and have no issue with that part, but is there story? Thank you!

So I was exploring a new system, and I pulse drives over to a new planet and I get notified of a rare deep space object, I stop and I end up seeing a derelict freighter. For some reason I couldn't land on it, I don't know why, but I got out of there and NO EXXAGERATION, 10 SECONDS LATER, ANOTHER DERELICT FREIGHTER that I still couldn't land on for some reason, and again, NO EXXAGERATION, 10 GOD DAMN SECONDS LATER I SEE AN ASTEROID LARVAE

Mildly technical question: On PC, can I configure the game such that it doesn't pause when I alt-tab off it? [Question]

There's so much flying between systems where I'm staring at the screen for a couple minutes. I'd like to just pop over to another monitor and get some stuff done. But when I do the game locks up.

Normally, IIRC if I set a game to "not literally full screen but effectively windowed and borderless" it tends to take care of that. But not here.

Not a big deal. but it'd be really nice.

Freighter not powering equipment [Question]

Howdy travelers. Wanted to build on the max height of my freighter for the views and aesthetics. Noticed teleporters and lights don’t work anywhere throughout. Lights only work at around 100u directly above the main room. Is it a bug or just a freighter quirk?

Space Anomaly Issues [Question]

So I've noticed that whenever I enter the Space Anomaly, it is always completely devoid of players (I am playing Survival which may have something to do with it). Is there something going on with my settings or do people just not play survival or something? Also, I've been trying to start a quicksilver mission so I can buy the Void Egg but it always just auto-abandons the mission, saying "Mission Location Scrambled // Aborting..." or something like that. Does anyone have any explanation for this?

Expedition Ship Inventory Upgrade for Living Ships [Information]

So I copied over the Wraith to Expedition 18, since it has an amazing warp range and in the hope of getting inventory slots as a reward.

I was really disappointed when it didn't allow me to expand the space when claiming the reward.

Was this intentional or should I create a bug ticket for it?

Could my old save game be causing me to miss out on new content? [Question]

I’ve been playing nms since I think around 2017/2018 and I still currently play on my same save game I made when I first started the game. However I am thinking, now that I am more active in the multiplayer aspect; doing atlas missions, and expeditions , and being more active online, that my game seems to be missing things that other people experience often. For example I did my first expedition this month and I also found my very first derelict frigate which I have never found in my current save. For context I play on PS5, started on PS4, have the most current update installed, and I’m pretty much done with most major quest lines. However I feel like parts of the game others see a lot of I’ve never found in my game. Could this be because it’s such an old save? Or do I just have bad luck?

Finally found one. [Screenshot]

Finally found a Stone Effigy on a ruined moon. Very cool. Found it at night using my Sentinel ship which I found useful because it can hover. They glow much brighter than the regular stones and the blue is a lighter shade. Also if you scan it, it comes up as a building.

Can you switch back to main saves from an expedition at ANY TIME? [Question]

I'm losing my mind trying to find this information. Basically, my question is, if I start an expedition from my main save, can I immediately go back to my main save, or do I have to get to the space anomaly or something first? I'd like to start doing one, but I have put a lot of time into my main save and am worried about not being able to get back, losing progress, overwriting something, etc.

Some pictures and a question [Question]

Ok So... here are some pictures for you, and I have a question. I have avoided going underwater exploring because, frankly, it terrifies me. I know its just a game, but the ONE time I saw something in the water a "curious deposit" or something, it was only in like a section of a deeper pool, the section I was in was knee deep, and as soon as I touched the curious deposit, Something huge and dark slithered beneath the water in the dark.😶😮😨😱☠ !!!! That was enough to put me off. I think I'd like to try exploring again in the water. I chose some small pools that have very clear water and little to no fauna. (in the pictures) It was stunning! I felt a bit ill equipped though. What am I supposed to be wearing underwater? What do you all wear in your underwater explorations? These were my practicing and gathering courage to explore proper bodies of water. haha 😅 Thank you in advance!

I've accidentally deleted my savegame [Question]

Heya, i accidentally deleted my main savegame with almost 200h. I've tried a few things but i only found a save file from a few month ago that had almost 70h on it. However i decided to use it but all the expedition rewards have been lost now too, the boundary harald, the newest expedition and the one with the iron vulture.

Hope somebody can help me with this issue.

Planets missing rings (Switch version) [Bug]

So I've been enjoying the Switch version of NMS and I've noticed that when I see a planet with rings the moment I board my ship they disappear and can only be seen when I'm on foot. Does anyone know if that has always been the case for this version or maybe there's a chance of it being fixed?

I have one request/suggestion for the DEVs [Suggestion]

I know we have all seen those little "summon ship" pillars near the holographic communication towers. Well I would love to have that added to our buildable base parts. Sometimes an actual landing pad just doesn't fit the theme or design of a base. Sadly however, without something your ship plops down in the most in troublesome spots.

Please DEVs put this one thing in as a alternative to the landing pads for our bases.

How to Determine a Cave [Question]

Like I haven’t played this game in over 2 years or more probably. I jumped back on here in hopes of evening out my achievements cause this game broke that. So figured I’ll get on here and try to nab one or two. I’m working on the fauna and I have 1 left for underground and 1 in water. Is there an icon that says hey this is a cave or is it just mindlessly waking around hoping to spot on. Second heard to find rare underwater ones it’s best to go to the ocean. Once again is this a just keep walking and hope to find one or is there a simpler way of finding these locations? Thanks in advance

Crashed Ship Not Respawning [Question]

I was looking for a crashed sentinel ship i saw in a video. Went to the place and although i see the crashsite, the ship isnt there. I assumed someone else beat me to it. I turned off multilayer, deleted nearby bases, reloaded my save, waited 3 (actual) days and checked regularly during that time. Its not spawning. When i walk up to where the ship would be, there's an invisible wall of some sort. I can interact with something but nothing happens when i do.

Is there anything i can do to get it to spawn?

I Done Gone Messed Up... [Question]

This is kinda embarrassing....

I'm about 60 hours in and finally completed the Atlas quest line, after being sidetracked literally hundreds of times along the way.

I reset the simulation and found myself in the next galaxy. However, I then did something rather stupid...

I went to my ship, and went to the Anomaly. Got a bit sidetracked again there and ended up taking the portal back to one of my bases in Euclid. Can you see what's coming?

Then it slowly dawned on me that I hadn't built a base in the new galaxy, and I now had to way of getting back. Like an IDIOT!!!

Have I completely and utterly wrecked my game? Or will I have to trapse all the way to the centre to reset the simulation again?

A Question on Missions and the Expedition(s) [Question]

I'm a solo player who kind of likes playing solo (no offense to others, but I suppose video gaming is what I love to do most when I want to get away from people). I haven't touched any of the Anomaly Missions or Expeditions, as they seem to be designed for group play, or require interaction with other players... is this true? Can someone explain to me these aspects of the game? 272 hours in, and they are the only two things I haven't touched or attempted yet (finally started fishing last night). Thanks!

Keeping terrifying samples in your inventory supposedly causes certain space encounters to "stalk you / keep occurring / pull you out of pulse drive without the usual warning", but I've never had this happen, despite trying.

Battle of the Moon Ether [Discussion]

I was checking out a very pretty Bountiful Planet, just cruising low in my V-wing exotic, when suddenly I'm hit with a cargo scan from the local space station. I shrug, I'm not carrying any contraband. But then the message comes up and says contraband found!  Moon Ether!

Hmm... I didn't know I had that, don't remember where I got it. Maybe I found on a crashed freighter, I dunno. But I know my options: surrender all my contraband, surrender only the Moon Ether, or refuse. I know if I refuse, they'll set the Sentinels on me. I also know that if I surrender only the Moon Ether, even though I believe it's the only contraband I actually have, I will be immediately accused of "deception" and they'll set the Sentinels on me anyhow, which is infuriating.

It's so infuriating, in fact, that I chose to REFUSE and decided to give that space station a piece of my mind. I hit boost and left the sentinels in the dust (my ship is fast!) and went straight for the station. Then I started strafing it with Photon Cannon fire. This did no damage to the station, but it did seem to rile the Sentinels up something fierce.

But there were also freighter fleets crowded around the station, and one of them must have been hit by stray fire from my ship or from one of the pilots in my squidron. (It's like a squadron, but with squid ships! Right?) So now I've got a message that I have "engaged" a merchant freighter, and I've got its damage bars showing at the top of my HUD. I don't care in the least about that, but it seems like this has riled up the Sentinels even more (if that's possible).

I'm switching back and forth between Cyclotron and Photon fire, killing Sentinels at a pretty good pace, but more of them just keep warping in, and the number of hostiles registering in my HUD never seems to really decrease, holding around the 9-to-11 range. They're whittling at my shields, but I pause to recharge...

Help! Got lucky [Question]

New to the game. Just reached anomaly for the first time. And someone gifted me all this(idk why). Theres also some stuff worth 2 million credits and atlas pass 2 and 3.(which I guess are needed for special crates?).

My question is should i sell it or just trash this items as this will hinder my natural progression of game. I can just buy any ship or freighter, and it will suck the fun out of it. What do you guys recommend?

White screen... [Bug]

This has been bothering me. For the second time now, my game shows a white screen upon loading a saved game. Restarting the game does not help. Reloading from a restore point sometimes helps, other times not. The first time I experienced this, I reinstalled the game and the issue disappeared. Now I am experiencing the issue again. Has anyone else had similar issues?

The Purge [Question]

So I almost finished the Atlas missions, or so I thought, but I'm concerned I've gone a little further than I should, but I was keen to get the rest of the glyphs.

Every time I load in now, I get a massive, pulsating Atlas symbol on my screen, and now it says The Purge Atlas Sequence 8/16.

I don't want to leave this galaxy yet! I've literally just finished building two massive bases 😭

Have I messed up? Is there any way of stalling the end of days?

Is planet marking broken or is it just bad? [Question]

I was so excited to try it since navigating around gas giants sucks, but as far as I can see, all it does is put a marker on the planet when you can see it, with no help to actually find it. Which makes it entirely pointless.

Surely I'm missing something here?

Squid ship - My son’s first ship of his own [Screenshot]

I have played this game for just over 100 hours, mostly on my main save and I have never seen a squid ship outside of the anomaly.

I often play this game for my son who isn’t quite old enough to play yet but loves to explore space with me as I tell him everything I’m doing. I started a new save yesterday so that he could a save of his own where he could tell me where to go and what to do. After a while he wanted to go find a ship other than the radiant pillar and he’s always told me to get into the squid’s when we see them in the anomaly. We came across this one within a few minutes at the first trade outpost we visited in the second system from spawn, he was jumping out of his seat with excitement. He ended up taking his first flight and mining a copper deposit by himself.

Sorry for the long story I just wanted to share something that I hope my son and I can both remember fondly for a long time

HELP! Jumped to a new galaxy, summoned a new ship and my freighter, now I cannot find my old ship. [Question]

Massive Framedrop Dual Monitor Setup [Question]

Hi.

I have a dual monitor setup, 2k MSI 274qrfw connected to an Asus TUF F15 i7-12700H and 4060. The game doesn't force mouse pointer to stay within the game monitor so if it clicks on the other screen and I have to reopen the game, the frames just plument to 10-20fps, not by, but to 10-20fps. GPU maxes out vram and all that. Is this actually a bug or something I'll have to live with? Game runs fine after restarting.

Best way to destroy dissonance resonator? [Question]

I am quite new to the game (swapping between PSVR2 and PC) and just loving it all.

I got to a dissonant planet with dissonant sentinels and resonators but I have a hard time destroying the resonator without getting absolutely spanked by the sentinels.

Is there a good overall tactic or is it maybe that I am just a bit too weak atm?

Dome build project on Effigy IV [Screenshot]

In response to another thread about domes, here is my project. Construction is different is as much as I have gone with the pixelated effect of using the elements in snap together mode. However a desirable dome shape has been achieved. It looks very impressive from the air! So far I have just two main structures built inside the dome. There will be 2 or 3 more buildings and some pathways and bones displays/wonders.

Abandoned universe not so Abandoned [Question]

Playing abandoned universe permadeath, and what happens? A pirate raider comes out of no where and tries to kill me early on. Luckily was near a planet and just re-entered the atmosphere to lose them, but still.....

It is taking a crazy long time to catch a bonefish for phase three of expo 18 [Question]

I have been on a toxic world in one of the expedition systems and I have been trying to catch this god forsaken bonefish for probably about and hour to an hour and a half and still nothing. I have gone through all 40 of the bionic lures that the expedition gives you and now I don’t know what to do. I was in perfect conditions for a bonefish, it was night in deep water on a toxic world. What's the point of having ship storage on my frieghter if it's going to no only erase my ships when I try to take them out of archive but then erase my ships I am using and place it's name in another ship. I can't even believe this crap. My son watched me try to restore my ships to have them disappear. Is this the norm?

PSA for new players I'll try to keep it spoiler-free [Information]

There is a mission called 'They Who Returned' (sorry if that's a spoiler, I can't think of a way to address this without giving the name) that needs to be completed to unlock certain content.

More than once now I have seen commenters tell people that they need to travel to a new galaxy to start this mission. I don't know why they are telling others this, maybe they are confused about the difference between a galaxy and a star system.

But what I can say is that they are 100% wrong. There is no requirement to travel to a new galaxy to start 'They Who Returned'.

So travel to a new galaxy if you want that to be part of your journey. But please don't do it based on someone's bad information.

When to start multiplayer? [Question]

Just playing on normal mode, learning the game, I currently have like 3 freighters and 3 fighter ships I claimed/repaired. Otherwise spending nanites to unlock modules and trying to craft them all.

So if you start the expedition as a new game, when you look at your list of saved games you can see exactly how long you've spent on the expedition. Is there any way to find this out if you started through the anomaly in your regular save, besides checking how much time you had played in your save before you started (I forgot to look)?

Despite the title, I am a NMS vet(ish), but I haven't played since 2022, and I figure what was meta then probably isn't meta now. Profanity filter [Bug]

Holy crow does the profanity filter need to be upgraded, IT IS TERRIBLE!!! somehow the word "Mystery" is profanity, so my scooby-Doo name themed system had to be named "? Machine". Space Battle Atmosphere [Suggestion Video]

Good Morning,

I was standing on my freighter's exterior catwalk yesterday and contemplating about the game's atmosphere. Especially in space. When you go outside, the sound “dampens” and you hear the clonk, clonk, clonk of your boots on the catwalk.

But if you travel out into space with your ship, the sounds remain crystal clear and high-pitched.

It would really help the immersion, if sounds would be deeper and “damper” in your spaceship, too. It would award space battles with the same depth that you would experience when watching "The Expanse".

Freighters and battles 2025 [Discussion]

There's lots of videos about getting the free freighter. But I'm not sure it's all current. I got a battle but I wasn't offered any reward after. I guess I must of hit something non-pirate. It can be hard when the pirates are all circling the freighter. So I reloaded and it took me back to last time I left the ship. Oddly not the last time I went through a portal. I thought I saw that I can duck into a port before the battle but no. At least not in the system where the battle is. Now I guess I have to wait 3 more hours.

Then I saw some video saying there's lots more storage spaces on the upper class freighters, but I stopped in an A class and it was only like 18 and 11. Does the class only affect the max and not the start slots? I've done enough trade circuits that I have like 200 million. I guess I can about buy anything now. But I like the looks of the venator class ships best. I saw that once after a battle and it was C. Otherwise haven't seen one. How do I get a capital type?

Relatively new player here.

I made a freighter base with a full refiner setup to create stasis devices, that only use Oxygen and the other 3 gases as input, everything else is created from Refining. Have a total of 24 Refiners, and pre-loaded all of them with one recipe and full 10k stacks of input materials. took me a few hours until I had all the resources from refining (I already farmed a lot of the gases, so I only needed the refined materials).
Once I had all of the refiners filled, I started them and went to my mining bases to rework them, since I made them inefficiently.

When I came back, all refiners empty... Everything's gone.

Lost probably about 200-400k of materials. RIP

Happy find (Exotic ship in tier 1 system) [Screenshot]

I spotted an exotic in a tier 1 system. Wiki says 0% chance, low maybe - but not 0. I couldn't get it to land so I headed to a planet and found a trading post. Sat and waited. Took a good while but it landed eventually. Not perfect sc slots but I've seen worse, tried waiting for another to show up to compare but no luck and got tired of waiting.

The orange color didn't excite me as much as the metallic silver on the top of the clamshell and on the caps of the side thrusters and details on the cockpit.

Thought maybe I was mistaken (be nice if the discoveries tab actually said economy or tier 1, 2, 3 etc). Double checked and nope, it's a 1 star economy.

I have a base at 1200u under water and trying to figure out if I can build something that will allow me to fish as well. I have tried using non-underwater parts with missing floor panel but it still counts as outside your base, so water breathing and hyper-pressure were on and no fishing.

Help - Terrain Manipulation [Question]

This is my base after grieforgot to it several years ago. I managed to delete most of this dirt but there is still a few pieces of floating debris above my base and more importantly in some of my hallways. I can delete these while I'm there but they always come back. Seems that I hit the limit of train manipulation because even if I delete it and try and upload my base they still come back. Is there any way to completely reset the Terrain so that I can undo the damage? I've been trying to fix this since 2018. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Deep ocean biome reference [Question]

I am sure I could use Google and find something. But that would be less personal, and give the community involvement in one of the peices. I'm not overly fond of deep water in nms, or irl. I want to showcase this aspect of the game in one of pictures in the series I am working on. So if any of you brave Interlopers are interested in a photography mission. I'd like to see what you can show me. I don't plan on copying a screen shot, just using elements, because I rarely explore these places. If I do use your photography, as inspiration. Canyons [Screenshot]

Spotted some interesting canyons and sink holes on a dissonant planet in euclid. The surface terrain was a bit rocky and jagged and I saw a low spot, then saw just how deep it goes. I thought maybe I was on top of a plateau or something but no, there were sizable mountains as well.

I've seen those rock formations above the surface sometimes quite tall and donut shaped with a recess. I tried to get a pic from the bottom looking up and backed the camera up enough to catch a glimpse of sky in the 3rd photo.

Several creatures at the bottom and birds or bats flying well above the ground but still nowhere near the top. Kind of dusty in the bottom like its own ecosystem. This would've been the perfect planet for the expedition awhile back where we had to make our way up to like 1300u or something. Start at the bottom and work our way up to the top of one of the mountains, no sky stairs needed.

Markers not showing, or showing in wrong place [Bug]

Two of my current missions (the two I was actively working on, to boot) are very bugged. I haven't checked to see if it's affecting others, as well, but very well may be.

To speak to the two, for the Artemis quest, I've calibrated the translator and gained enough rep with the Korvax, and it puts the marker to return to the lifeform behind a wall... I have restarted multiple times, left the galaxy and returned, by both ship and teleport... Nothing will fix it, so the quest is rendered unfinishable. The fuck? The other one is the free exosuit upgrade from the drop ship, and the marker doesn't show anywhere, no matter what I do or where I go - so also unable to do the mission. It showed briefly when the mission first appeared as a mission, and now there's no way to get the marker back (I'm not an idiot, I see this comment all the time on here - yes, I had it selected in the mission board as the active mission). I have even changed selected active mission around just to see if that would bring markers back, or fix it, but no.

While some people may really enjoy the sandbox environment, I prefer doing missions. This is starting to make the game unplayable (I played almost eight hours in a few days, and now haven't touched it for days because nothing works for the mission markers).

I have the latest version/patch.

I was on this planet and went looking for oxygen and uranium, when I came back I didn't find my ship (the one in the background) and I can't call it, I lost all my most valuable items and I don't know if I'll get them back, and this clip was the last one I made before losing the ship.

Why does this game feel like “mini games, but in space!” [Discussion]

I feel like there isn’t really anything to work towards or any long term challenge or goal. Everything you can do is essentially a 5-30 minute mini game, which you can repeat endlessly on endless planets, but with the same-ish results and little actual reason to do so.

Am I missing something? Are there any deep features I am not aware of?

The Universe gave me a birthday present! [Screenshot]

So May Day is my birthday and I was in my freighter hangar bay this morning just checking my starships' inventories when this flew in and practically fell in my lap:

My birthday present!

It's an S-class and it's the perfect color! As soon as I saw it was S-class I snatched it up lickety-split for only 3 million units!

I think the Universe is having some fun at my expense, but then she lifts me up a few days later! I got killed by a Death Loop Griefer a couple of weeks ago and lost all my exosuit inventory including a Twitch drop pet egg that I hadn't added to my pet archive. Some kind players were nice enough to not only provide me with a replacement egg for this rare pet, but also gifted me 2 other rare expedition pets and a Starborn Runner from Expedition 12, so getting killed by that griefer was a huge net gain for me! THEN, my drivers license just expired despite several trips to the DMV because they needed 2 different medical forms (I'm diabetic) that my doctor said I didn't need but the DMV insists they do need...right after which I find an S-class medium Sentinel freighter last night and then get this baby this morning!

The Universe has a very, very strange sense of humor!

The First Traveller - Crashed Freighter Cargo Pods Bugged [Bug]

Ok, so I know this is a well known bug, but none of the solutions have worked for me. I get to the part of The First Traveller where I have to investigate the crashed freighter, but because I've already found and looted it before, the cargo pods aren't interactable. I've jumped to different solar systems and then reactivated the quest, I've bought distress signals from the cartographer in hopes of spawning a new freighter, but nothing's worked.

I even sent a bug report ticket to Hello Games, but all I got was an automated email back, so that was less than no help. I'm really hoping I don't have to start a new game, because after all the progress I've made, that's be enough for me to put the game down and not touch it for awhile.

Any help would be appreciated. I wanna progress the quest, but if its that broken then I'm giving up.

How to play coop [Question]

I want to play with my two friends. We finished the tutorial and joined each other. But when we try to play Nexus missions together, our progress is buggy. For example, one of us finishes a quest and needs to collect a prize while the others still have quests going on. The NPCs are disappearing. And most frustrating is that we are not getting the prizes! We finished a mission for 12 Gel and 330 Nanites. I received all prizes, while my friends received only Gel. What's your way to play co-op?

Question about living ships. [Question]

I'm currently waiting the 24 hours in the quest to get mine, but I want to know how good they are compared to an S-class sentinel ship (in picture, the red arrows are where supercharged slots are). I know that upgrades for living ships are completely different from other ships, but I want to know since the one in the picture is my main ship, it's decent in combat, but definitely not the best. On standard for combat, it can take out an enemy starship in maybe like 5-8 seconds with infra-knife.

Improved Ship Roll Speed with Manueverability Upgrades [Suggestion]

As per the title. I don't know how people do it on PC, but on console, when you press the left and right shoulder buttons, your ship rolls. This happens very slowly. It would be nice if increases to maneuverability made it happen more quickly.

Ship roll serves little practical purpose in space. Honestly, I can't think of a use for it beyond recreational flying, like weaving through canyons in-atmosphere. Still, for players who enjoy that kind of flying, improving roll speed with maneuverability upgrades would make it feel more responsive and worthwhile.

Managed to catch one of those moments last night. Some pirates decided to attack a trading post where I was chilling. Saved their leader for last; didn't know it would be a bit Dean Cundy/lightshow centric, but a nice bonus for the terrified shoppers still parked at the trading post below. Check out that lovely bow shock, from the explosion, too. Not sure if that's from the rockets I always use as a finisher or if maybe all pirate starships explode like this but we just can't see it in space? I suspect it's the rockets.

M1 Mac Mini vs M4 Mac Mini [Question]

I am currently playing NMS on an M1 Mac Mini (8GB ram/512GB SSD) on enhanced settings on a 75Hz 1080p monitor, full screen (borderless) mode on Steam. NMS loads decently quickly and in game I can usually get 60 FPS but I do have to wait longer to land on planets (when compared to when I play on my XBox Series X anyway, about twice as long). Most everything is very smooth during gameplay at this setting (I did not fine tune any other graphics settings).

Does anyone know what sort of performance boost I could expect from a base M4 Mac Mini (not pro)? Trying to figure out if it's even worth upgrading to a base M4.

Tell Me Your Lore. [Discussion]

I'm assuming people do what I do and have a whole backstory and lore and such for their characters?

I started as a Gek, I set up a trading outpost called "Traveller Trading & Technology - or 3T for short - and went around collecting things.

(Built my first base, put random stuff in it to test and experiment and it got bigger and bigger then I went adventuring)

In my lore, 3T went multi-galactic. My little Gek was wealthier than he dreamed and left 3T to run itself while he went off exploring.

(Did the main quests)

He got old. He was dying. Using his wealth he found a way to transfer his consciousness into a mechanical body.

(Changed to an Autophage look)

With immortality now a real thing, he decided to gather power to go with the wealth. He began seeking out ancient knowledge of civilisations and races long since perished.

(Started doing the in game lore stuff with Hirk, First Spawn, boundary anomalies etc)

He built a fleet of ships and pilots. He plundered system after system, becoming a Dread Pirate Lord, his name known across worlds and universes.

(Did the piratey stuff, travelled from the centre of the galaxy to the outer edge cataloguing and collecting)

With all the wealth and power now at his fingertips, what next? Forbidden knowledge. Forbidden power. He would attempt to rule it all.

(Dissonant stuff, Atlas stuff, Brood stuff, Relic stuff etc)

In his search he stumbled upon the tale of The Worm King. A ruler from past eons that controlled titans, used them to subjugate entire galaxies and rule with an iron fist.

(Kinda my own thing that ties in with an orbital cannon base I built around the brood update)

And that's sort of it, so far... I still brand some based with 3T and I put worm decals around my bases and such. It's just my own little make believe backstory for when I play.

I finished the relics expedition, but I didn’t get to keep anything from my inventory and I can’t construct fossil statue stations in my base [Question]

Hi, I just finished the recent expedition and at the end I didn’t get to transfer any of my items from my inventory from my expedition save. I’ve later read that you’re supposed to add the items you want to keep to the expedition station before clicking end expedition. Darn it, I lost all the bones and fossils I collected and the fossil construction stations. And now on my main save, I don’t have the option to construct the fossil construction stations to build fossil statues in my base. And get this, I ran across a damaged machinery that had 9999 residual slime on it… And I didn’t take a screenshot… I spent the whole expedition refining that in the hopes of turning it into nanites. I lost that too. But I got a cool staff. And I set up a base on the end planet and filled three biodome’s with venom sac hydroponic stations. The base is titled spun’s venom sac farm FREE! So go get your free venom sacs!

Spare Atlantis Drive materials for a fellow traveller? [Question]

Does anyone who finished the expedition mind giving away the materials to the Atlantid Drive, please and thank you? It would make this part much quicker, I need 250 Indium, 200 Atlantideum, and 1 Living Glass. I didn’t realize the starter ship had the drive preinstalled, I traded it for an expedition award ship for style and speed… So much for speed, talk about shooting myself in the foot!

Why does no man's sky feels unpolished ? [Question]

I mean, like... We can do base building but snapping is so weird you can't even place right staircases ?
Like why does the boost upgrade you buy to dash feels clunky and is still way worse and more expensive than melee->Jetpack ?
Why some creature sounds SO MUCH louder than the rest of the game, with a white noise sound that's destroying my ears ?

And i'm only at the very start of the game... It looks like warframe: endless, interesting content that's constantly pulling me out of immersion because it's just... I mean, those are small but fixable details.

Thing, is I want to love the game... I start it sometimes, play for 1-2 hours then become bothered by something else, like unclear UI, or Ai doing somthing so stupid i'm instantly out of the game

This could be SO GOOD but it's like... Old content will never get patched, they will just keep adding more on top and never fix old things

What do you think ? I'm not coming to hate on the game, I'm mostly curious.

Noob here [Question]

I just started no man’s sky and I’m collecting ships. The first 3 have been successful , correct glyphs, correct coordinates. The next ship I’m getting is in a different galaxy and I’ve reached that galaxy and have also found a portal. I’ve plugged in the glyphs twice and each one took me to a different planet. I went to the coordinates just to check and there no ship. As long as I’m in the correct galaxy the portal should take me to any planet within that galaxy right ? Regardless what color star ?

Ideas for Public Transport? [Discussion]

Soz for the pic but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for public transport in the game. Personal vehicles are in the game like bikes, submersibles, cars etc but why don't planets have any other public transport? (Big, full of NPCs and potential quests even?)

It would be cool to come across a "Gas Giant Metropolis" or something which has more trading hubs available and each hub has one or two rare items at the trade terminals connected by train.

You could have sleek glass bullet trains on ocean planets, heavily bulked up cargo lift trams that arch the sky on storming planets or even ones that have connecting underground tunnels with little sconces on toxic/radiation planets or cooled shuttle buses on hot planets.

What other public transport would you like to see in game in terms of air, sea and land?

Dance Off then Gifts [Discussion]

I'm a relatively new-ish traveler. I just reached the anomaly when I saw that two travelers are having a dance-off. I join them, and we dance for a while. Then one of the travelers follows me to my ship to show off my lovely starter ship. Then I follow him to see his very Y-axis ship.

We dance on the peak of his ship while discussing insurance premiums on our spaceships. Then he gifts me nip-nips, a box of gems worth over 110,000, and an illegal upgrade. We wave goodbye and continue on our merry way.

This community is precious.

Quicksilver missions gone. [Question]

A couple days ago I completed 4 quicksilver missions. i checked yesterday to see if i had another mission but i didnt. i figured maybe i completed the 4th mission at a weird time and maybe the game was gonna make me wait until today to finish. but as a check now (1:45 am where i live) there is still no quicksilver mission. which sucks because i only need 50 more to get what i want. here are some things i have done from looking at posts in the past to fix this problem.

i restarted the game and loaded my save back up into the anomaly.

i left the anomaly and restarted my game with my save point outside of it to see if going in after would fix it.

i set my save point outside again and restarted my xbox to see if maybe it was my console being weird with the time or something.

i switched from multiplayer to solo, and back to multiplayer.

i switched from multiplayer to solo. kept it on solo, and checked.

i then did the same two things above outside of the anomaly to see if loading it in from outside would fix it.

i set my game to solo, restarted it, and loaded back in from outside the anomaly.

i did some of the regular nexus missions with multiplayer, and then some with multiplayer off.

here are some more things to keep in mind.

it has been over 24 hours since i have completed a quicksilver mission (around 36 ish hours ago).

i saw people claim it resets midnight your time and that people say it is console based. i also saw some people claim it resets at england's time zone which still would make it appear with a new quicksilver mission by now.

i have been trying to work around this now for a couple of hours because i just want the last 50 quicksilver that i need :'(

i apologize for the very long post. i am just wondering if anyone has any tricks and i dont want people to suggest things i have already tried

Glitch no man sky [Bug]

For some reason when i'm using my minotaur And I leave it on a plan it if I go to use a teleporter on my Freighter Or a space station I get teleported back to the planet in my minotaur Sometimes when I get out, I fall through the planet. This has happened to me more than once restarting. The game doesn't seem to help.

I'd just landed at a monument to soothe the sentinel brain, when I noticed something pop up beside me, then disappear, and pop up again a short distance away. Every time I tried to get close, disappeared underground, popped up again, away from me. Eventually managed to scan it, but this was the only screenshot I managed to grab.

Didn't see one again :(

I did change the name slightly, to something that felt more appropriate though ;)

Multi tool weapon/tool wheel would be a great QoL feature. [Suggestion]

Once your multi too has lots of different weapons/tools, it becomes really annoying to have to cycle through each function to get to what you want/need.

A weapon wheel would be a perfect way of being able to switch to multiple functions on the fly by holding down the switch function button and seeing all your installed functions on a wheel, allowing you to just select what you want.

HG if do see this please add this as a feature, would be such a good QoL feature. This could also apply to ships and exocrafts too.

can someone help with "Jelly of the veil" fish? [Question]

Hi interlopers,

I spent hours to try to catch the fish "Jelly of the veil" but did not succeed. I saw in posts that it can be difficult to fish it as it is a rare fish that comeonly during night but can someone confirm me that my setup is correct? I am switching from two high temperature planets (I captured one in a trap on one planet), and I fish ONLY during nights. I am fishing in water with depth from 5m to 10m. I am using "Bionic Lure" baits, I tried also with "Shadow lure" bait without success

First, I was fishing all that was medium size or higher and catched lot of "Moon turtles" and some "whispering bonfishes" which have same conditions "Will only raise to the surface during the night". Now, I spy for the 3 fish shadows to capture only large fish, but occurence is very very low (a few %).

Am I just unlucky?

Same planet, 3 updates [Screenshot]

Sooo back in 2021 i found a planet that was stunning and perfect (Screen 1) . Its purple shiny grass and bubbles really got me so I set up a base here. Later my girlfriend started playing with me and started her own base on the same planet, that's when world Pt 1 update came in, and the planet changed ... to this ( screen 2). I didn't really like it to be honest and started looking for another gem in the galaxy. Today i came back to see Relics update changed again the biome ( screen 3), It's still way different from the original finding, but looks kind of gorgeous now ! Can't wait to see if that specific planet is the target of regular changes !

I dint think I've loathed anything quite like... [Question]

The Audience with the Autophage quest.

I hate that it tells you, after giving gifts, that your influence as increased BUT IT'S NOT THE RIGHT TYPE OF INFLUENCE. The Right type of influence turns up randomly and doesn't seem to influenced by anything you do.

I hate that it doesn't tell you that you have to visit different systems because, who knows, maybe the real influence only turns up once in a planet. Who knows? No hints given.

I hate that the multitool activator doesn't work like every other weapon.

I hate that you can buy a part of the staff too soon which you can't then dismantle for void motes that just seen to have stopped spawning.

I'm only visiting Korvax Dissonants and after several hours I've scratched myself up to the nightly level of 5 influence.

I really have no idea how to make this quest end quicker and get it over with.

Any clues?

Are all creatures able to be tamed or only the ones that allow you to feed them? [Question]

There is a cool eye stalk creature, kraken creature and a giant tunnelling worm dragon thing that I would like to have as pets, but I can't seem to feed them pellets. Also, the giant flying tunneling worm dragon thing moves so freakishly fast I have no idea how one would catch up to it. Is there like a tranq gun in no mans sky? Or a net? A pokeball?

Expedition help!! [Question]

My expedition on my main save had a glitch, this prevented me from completing my expedition so I started a new one on a new save. I completed it, is it possible for me to transfer my inventory to my main save? (PS5); same as for the incomplete expedition, is it possible to transfer my inventory? Found good stuff I’d love to keep!

Can't see mission marker [Bug]

I did mission "Ghost in the mashine", with my bf, went to the Korvax facility, raided it, did everything i had to, went on anomaly and left the game. Next time I opened the game i had 1 fps so i reinstalled it and when i I opened the game after that i still had the mission to raid the Korvax facility but there were no mission markers pointing me towards it. Does anyone know any fix or anything? I'd rather not restart the whole game as it took me around 10 hours and i don't have that kind of time just laying aroung.

Please help kind travellers.

Hit my first real roadblock playing No Man's Sky. Lost most of video except map icons (quest markers, scan information, etc.), autosaved shortly after [Question]

Looking for advice. Put over 90 hours into the game and the video went dark except the guide points that help direct you throughout the game. Is there any way to regain the video? I'm worried this is a bug and I've lost all my progress as you really need to see to play this game. Love this community and thanks for reading my 1st reddit post here.

Expedition 18 Phase 4 help [Question]

I'm currently trying to do phase 4 of expedition 18 and it's bringing me to an aquatic planet in order to collect bones, but anytime I land on the planet my analysis visor tells me to go in one direction forever and I never get any closer to the dig site. I've been flying toward this non-existent site for over an hour now and not getting any closer.

YouTube guides are extremely vague and aren't helping. I can also see other players flying in circles around the same planet as me so it seems I'm not the only one who's lost.

Settlements [Discussion]

I'm so over my settlement. It's been 4 months of tending to the stupid citizens childish quarrels and upgrading maintenance and production although they're all ready maxxed out at a million units production and 0 units Maintenance. Not to mention everytime I finally decide to let them go on an expedition a couple die! I can't seem to get the citizenship past 60 and from what I've read from other posts the only way to get an S-class settlement is to reach 200 pop and even then sometimes it's bugged out and won't upgrade to S-class. I've been stuck on A-class for weeks now and it's very frustrating. I wish there were a way you could abandon the settlement so I never have to be reminded by the quest line to go attend to their silly little quarrels ever again.

Lured into a trap [Question]

Last night I was in the Anomoly, I had just finished relics. A player invited me into a group play, asked me to follow them & quickly left the Anomoly. I followed and warped to their system/base. As soon as I landed on the landing pad I was suddenly trapped inside their base and quickly died. I knew pretty quickly I was lured into a trap. I did manage to retrieve my grave & exit my save.

this player was in Permadeath mode. Has anyone seen or had this happen to them & any suggestions how I get free? I have sent a request to Hello Games for assistance, it's a long wait and in the meantime I cannot play my main 915hr save.

I made a mistake, any advice? [Question]

I thought it was maybe like the other base building parts. The ones you find in the wild where you use them up once you place them (like the bubbles). I figured I could place it ad pick it up, or place multiple and pick an extra one up to keep in my inventory, which is my usual strategy.

If I remember correctly it only let me place the one, and when I went to pick it up I accidentally deleted it out of my base, and now it is just gone....

I don't remember where I got it, or how to get another.

Any advice?

With all the save edited companion creatures I see at the anomaly, I am pretty proud of finding and splicing this fantastical beast "naturally" on console. She's still an infant! [Screenshot]

It's a six legged Unicorn wolf I found using NMSGE then loaded its egg with cadmium until it wouldn't take more... not sure what else I did, sorry, it was probably a baked goodie for the genes and the color... The mother had pointed mouth and ears... but anyway it came out looking a little more like a cougar than a wolf after my meddling, or maybe just a dog... I swear when it first hatched it looked much more cat-like but now I'm questioning calling her the Cotton Candy Cougar-corn...

Not complaining about the save edited creatures BTW, I have a few myself, I just think it's impressive that with a thousand hours I can still find things I've never seen before. I see lots of people at the anomaly want her egg but gotta wait for her to grow!

do pet colors "stack"? [Question]

I have a pet I'm trying to turn as black as possible and it seems I can get it either very brown with Sodium Nitrate or grey with green highlights if I use Stolen DNA Samples.

I'm currently waiting for the newest one to be mature enough for another egg but if I try another color adjustment on the child of this one, will it stack the effects? Or are my choices either brown or grey and not a combination of those?

So, a weird thing happened to me running nexus missions last night. [Question]

First: I’m not a new player. I’ve got 500ish hours in, been around the block, decent gear, etc. I say that only to make it clear this stuff doesn’t just happen to new/inexperienced players.

I found a guy camping on a faecium quicksilver mission. I couldn’t start and it wouldn’t cycle to the next one. I chilled for a sec then he took off. He asked me to be his “no man’s sky friend”, which has happened maybe 2 other times.

I followed him to his landing spot and went about the mission. He starts gesturing wildly for me to follow him, leads me into one of those little buildings with a guy in the middle and a vendor off to the side.

He gestures to what looks like a mini save point on the vendor’s counter. Ive obviously never seen or noticed it because that’s not a thing 😕

I of course proceed to activate it to you know “see what it does” 😄

I’m somehow sucked behind the vendor counter and start being cooked alive, VERY quickly. I manage to stave off death for a minute, but eventually perish.

I was lucky enough to reload and only lose mission progress but that was clearly intended to exploit a bug-like game mechanic to at best grief at worst get my corpse items somehow? Is that possible?

TLDR beware of strangers and strange base items appearing in vendor areas.

Sometimes, there's a shuttle, well, it's the starship for its time and place. It fits right in there. And that's this shuttle, in No Man's Sky... But sometimes there's a starship, sometimes, there's a shuttle... aw, I lost my train of thought here. But... aw, hell. I've done introduced it enough.

Can't say where I found this (because I don't know) but damn it, this sure makes me wish I could install a Hover module on it. Might revitalize the entire archetype...

In my personal lineup of starships, this is the second coolest Shuttle I've ever seen... and it has never once been flown, because it can't hover, dammit.

The Pickle [Story+Screenshot]

So, here I was trying to progress on the main questline, Artemis interaction etc. I get to a point where I'm supposed to go through this "stargate" looking portal. It's on a planet that has some cool looking megaflora, and some strange structures etc. I'm getting ready, then I hear loud rumbling and the ground shakes like crazy! and there's like a massive dust storm or something...I'm freaking out and decide I should wait out the dust storm before proceding. It gets louder and I keep thinking that theres other ships warping in, because they make quite a racket when they arrive out of warp speed. I try looking around, don't see anything, then I hear a godawful loud blaring like a foghorn and a air raid siren had a baby. I actually kinda freaked out and whipped my headset off. Then I see it...a shadows black out the sky above me....

Oh....it's a great big PICKLE worm. lol

All that fuss over a gherkin shaped creature and here I was expecting "Shia haloud" lol

Settlement [Question]

I know what most people think about settlements and the problems with maxing them out. My question is how many landing pads do you get at your settlement? I don’t care about the grade of my settlement but I only have 2 landing pads built and would like more just for immersion. However I just keep getting opportunities for green or red marks on my settlement that is already all green.

Permadeath and then some... [Discussion]

So I finally got to the Center of the Galaxy, on Permadeath....sooooooo yeah....and i was soooo happy i finished it....I didn't take any of my ships... The only i took was a staff.....idk, I was giving myself a chance....lol And I destroyed everything....at first I was like....crap it's permadeath....what if that's it.... Then I thought that was it when my screen glitches on the second image..... I was so glad I didnt.... But....and how many people has this happened to.... Everything restarted on an extra toxic planet.... I swear if I didn't find a cave....I would have died. I was maybe three seconds away from death.... Between that and trying to get to my broken ship....it was easily the most stressed I've ever been playing the game...... And now I'm just sitting in my ship....waiting between storms to get more nitrogen because my DUMB ARSE had almost everything EXCEPT that.....lol Yup....

First freighter rescue mission bugged. Help. [Bug]

So my boyfriend and I both play this game and he discovered that if you just restore your save as you are warping to trigger this mission that you can "reset" the mission and then warp to a new system to find the freighter that you want. Well, he did the grind for about 3 hours until he finally found the freighter that he wanted which was the venator resurgent. He then reloaded that same save over and over again, getting out of his ship while inside the freighter to check what class it is, and then reloading his last restore point until he got an s class venator resurgent. I had been getting this quest for awhile but I would ignore it because I'm not ready for that grind yet. I have about 40 hours of gameplay on this save.

So anyways as we were both playing single player last night I had the event trigger for me so I got off, joined him, and then warped to the system that he knew the resurgent was at. Everything worked as normal until I got off the ship to check what class it was and it wasn't the class that I wanted so I left to my last restore point. But because I was playing in multi-player the game made me exit the game in order to do so. I reloaded back in and the quest hasn't triggered again ever since.

When I went to load my game the words say that I'm on that freighter but I wasn't, probably because multi-player doesn't save your position. So I said screw it and just got off the game to hopefully give it a chance to reset. I am now playing the next day on single player (over 12 hours later) and it still isn't working. The mission won't trigger at all.

I have: Warped 15+ times

Grabbed a random mission from the missions guy in a random space station then warped out

Went into the anomaly, bought something, and warped out

Closed out of my game and warped 5 more times

Warped, landed on a planet, flew into space, warped again, waited 30 seconds...

Haven't played since 2021. I think I have a decent character set up. What's new and how I can best leverage my current resources? [Question]

I have one base with the essentials you're tasked with building as you progress through the story. I think I have some kind of refinement system, but I'm not even sure.

I have 30k nanites (is that a lot?). A little more than 1 billion units. 300 quicksilver.
500k chlorine (maybe more on anther ship). Anywhere between 1,000 and 10,000 of many other minerals (sodium, cobalt, cadmium). My ship and weapon(s) are upgraded highly (to a 2021 standard).
I have a freighter that I'm 99% sure I've never been on (it's the Empire from star wars style).

Do I have enough resources to set up some kind of refinery farm? What kind should I start to make more money?

Are there new exosuits and helmets to collect?

Are my weapons and ships definitely outdated now?

If you're asking what my goals are... I'm not even sure what's new. But I never took the time to properly set up a "cool" base, so that's an interest. Setting up some kind of consistent money farm would be useful too. Collecting cool new ships (I know in 2021 I spent a lot of time seeking "special" ships, even using another subreddit to do so). And, if they exist, a new exosuit/ helmet would definitely be nice -- not a fan of the old looks, including what I'm wearing.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR FREIGHTER WHILE YOU HAVE STUFF IN REFINERS! [Information]

I've seen a couple of posts about people losing stuff in refiners on their freighter after they went out did whatever so it seems like this bit of knowledge has faded into the past.

Leaving stuff in refiners on your freighter then leaving your freighter has been buggy forever. If you're doing a lot of refining add more refiners to cut down the time needed but still don't wander off into space until it's all done and in your inventory.

Just a tip for new players.

Deepwater base glitch [Question]

Hey guys,

A while ago when the update about deep ocean planet rolled around, I built a base at the ocean bed. Somehow new terrain spawn and my base is now engulfed in unbreakable terrain. When I teleport to the base a lot of the parts disappeared, and when I tried to build new parts on top to get to the base computer and delete the base, the base computer also disappeared. Is there a way I can fix this?

What is the scariest predator you’ve encountered? [Question]

Predators are uncommon enough to be kind of startling when you see that bright red marker on your compass. I think the scariest part about it is knowing that it could look like almost ANYTHING.

Me personally, I found a desert planet with multiple different predators but one was the most terrifying. A giant praying mantis looking thing that followed me around in sandstorms. I aptly named the planet “Australia” and never touched it again.

No oxygen hotspots [Question]

I Can not find oxygen hotspots on my planet. It is a paradise planet and I am using my analisis visor in gas mode. I can only fine nitrogen hotspots when using the visor. Am I doing something wrong and in what type of planets/systems do oxygen hotspots exist?

Ancient Bones Collecting Bug [Bug]

Hey fellow travelers. Over the last few days, I've spent a lot of my time collecting ancient bones, so I can keep making cool fossils for display. After digging them up, and collecting them, about 2/3 of them don't show up in my inventory.

Not sure if its relevant, but I'm a sentinel mining pistol as my MT.

Modding help please [Question]

Hi, I'm having trouble trying to add mods to my game. I am extracting the mods and adding the whole folders to GAMEDATA/MODS , I've made sure GCMODSETTINGS : DisableAllMods is false, and then i launch game. I get the warning that i have mods installed, but when i go into my save or create a new save, nothing is changed. I've tried it with a few mods such as Ship Hunting Quick Actions and a Hyperdrive mod. Is there another step I'm missing? Steam version, if that matters.

How to get bionic lure recipe [Question]

Hi all. I know what I need to make bionic lure (ion batteries, amino chambers, and lube) but I cannot find the recipe anywhere, so I can't craft any (though I could in the Relics expedition). I've looked through all the normal spots at the Anomaly. No luck so far. Also I can find the ingredient list online, and lots of articles about it, but I haven't seen yet how to learn the recipe. Got a cool present [Question]

I don't know how how common is this but I wanted to share this experience here because none of my family or friends know this game. I think I've played around 40hrs so far and some hours before I was at the anomaly, and I there I stared to someone for some seconds because I liked his look. Some seconds later I got the message that I got a present from him. After this Ingot a second present from someone else. I didn't take it serious and just kept doing my business inside the Anomaly....before I left it I decided to Google some info about the artifact I got (I don't remember the name right now). I remember it was written it was something you can build for selling and you could sell it for about 150.000.000u. I wondered if I should keep it or sell it, and I decided to sell it, but could sell it for 450.000.000u. I was amazed and shocked. Some minutes later I realised that maybe my game experience just got ruined somehow. So I decided keeping the money and trying not to use it too much. Is this something normal?

Help disappearance of ship [Question]

Hello everyone, on the tutorial at the beginning of the game I claimed this ship. I left my original ship right next to it. I went to explore a bit and when I came back my original ship (with all the stuff inside) disappeared. Is it lost forever? Is there a way to bring it back? Spookily Easy Derelict [Screenshot]

So I found myself running up against the construction limit and needed to delete some old bases, so I went back to my original starting system. Just for funsies, I decided to run the derelict in the system and discovered that it's probably the easiest one I've found yet. Like, eerily deserted, no enemies at all until I found two floating jellies in the shuttle bay and a few security drones in the main crew quarters. That was it. I guess I've found my new speedrun derelict for when I need to stock up on cargo bulkheads.

In other news, Officer Amhetsal apparently tried to pull a Shawshank to escape this place.

Digital II objective impossible to reach [Question]

This Expedition driving me crazy... How the f.. I can find The Dig II randezvous? I am jumping from system to system following path to it for almost an hour it never end. Is it a bug or something? More Storage & Adding Favorites [Discussion]

I'm obsessive about having things organized when and where I can - my home isn't one of those things/places (messy family), but my OCD is content when I'm in our NMS universe.

I've found that when collecting fossils and food, I run into an issue with storage. The Nutrient Processor storage isnt enough for ingredients. Lol, as strange as that may seem to some.

With my OCD, if things aren't a certain way, I get a funny feeling and I start feeling antsy, my hands tingle, and a slight hint of inner-panic overwhelms me. Yes, it sucks, and it's stupid IMO that I feel this way, but (lmao, I'm laughing at myself 😂) more storage would help! 2 extra storage containers would be wonderful, but 5-10 more would be even better!

Another thing that would be nice, and maybe I've missed something, is being able to SAVE a space station as a favorite ❤️ while in that particular station. This has nothing to do with my issues, lol. It does have to do with me forgetting to mark a proevious station as a favorite once I get to another station. Old age, maybe?

Anyone else feel a little more Storage would be nice, or anything else to make QoL just a tiny bit easier? An inquiring mind wants to know!

Help me with the Farmer [Bug]

I need help with this Farmer quest. I’ve done everything it says. I was already farming a bit before I got the farmer so I grew gutrot in the 2x2 planters and harvested it and that didn’t work so I built the standalone tray and grew and harvested the plant twice in that and none of it is registering. I can’t get rid of the quest to try it again and I don’t know what to do.

Wire Glitch Builders - Need Advice [Question]

I’m attempting to learn glitch building techniques and things are going fairly well. However, I can’t seem to get the second side to go on straight like the first side.

I have taken this all apart several times and I can only get one side to cooperate. Sometimes the left, sometimes the right despite doing all the same steps exactly the same way.

What the heck am I doing wrong here?

How much power can the battery distribute at once? [Question]

I might be mis-interpreting the wiki page.

What I read was: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Battery#Power_distribution and it said the battery will "discharge power up to a rate of 50kP". Before reading that, I had hooked up 3 large hydrophonic trays to one battery(20 kp each), and the battery read as giving out a rate of 60 kp.

To test further, I attached 2 more, plus one small tray after which the battery read "105 kP" output. Also, I'm doing this on a pre-charged battery with no solar panels for testing purposes.

That's fine and all, and I know it will just drain the battery faster. I certainly don't plan on having so many devices on one battery; I'm just curious if there's a limit as to how much power can be pulled from the battery at once?

Or is my only limit simply the number of wires I can plug into each port (6 wires, I think)?

Electrical Hack [Build]

I’m probably not the first one to do this (I have about 40 hours in the game), but I experimented with transferring power from a power deposit to my salt deposit using lights. It worked! I use a battery as the distributor so I can monitor usage. As an electrician, I’m psyched that there’s no voltage drop! My power source is about 250u from my generator as a crow flies.

Question about finding other player's bases [Question]

I'm new(ish) to NMS. Though this is the third time I'm attempting playing over the past few years I've gotten farther than I have in the past, so yeah, I'm new.

I've encountered a few different bases from other players. What is the appropriate etiquette when finding other bases? I did see a post from 3 years ago that said some bases are mining resources for others, but turn off multiplayer when taking. Is that still the case?

That brings me to my base. What is (or what types of things are) open and free for people to take?

Got an alert there was a distress signal as soon as I left my freighter. The game started lagging hard (PS5). Never experienced a lag spike before. Well I swung my nose around to this absolutely insane pucker moment. Had to have been somewhere in the neighborhood of 50+ pirate vessels incoming for a single freighter. It was insanity. I jumped in but it was utter chaos. As soon as my shields went down I bugged aaaaalllllll the way out

Reaching the Galaxy Centre via Black Holes... [Question]

So far on my way to the galaxy centre I've been using the freighter to warp to black hole systems as close as I can jump towards the center (usually between 4-4.5kly), then jump into the blackhole via the starship. I'm only about 190kly away from the center now, but I'm wondering if it would be faster to just use my starship to do the same thing even though its jump range only goes up to 1.5k.

(Also, yes I know I could use portals to get there faster, but I want to take the long way myself then get a portal string close to the center to use for subsequent jumps since I don't like using other people's coordinates)

After The Battle... [Screenshot]

Had fun yesterday with a few other players hacking a Sentinel Pillar as part of a Nexus mission. Somehow we were collectively fighting the same targets, but were not in one multiplayer lobby.

It was my most epic battle in NMS so far. We were fighting for 15 min straight. A few mechs, some were on foot. We destroyed like a 100 sentinels, 2 walkers and a bunch of sentinel mech units.

did someone just ruined the game for me? [Question]

I restarted the game some days ago, I never finished the game and had not played it for a while so I figured that starting from scratch would be better. After ~3 hours of playthrough, a random player gave me a bunch of very costly stuff and upgrades (including jam doughnuts!!!) while I was AFK in the space anomaly. I can't bring myself to scrap everything but I also don't envision selling or using the items because I feel like it's basically the same as cheating and would ruin the game for me, but I also have no idea if money plays a huge role in the overall gameplay. What's your veteran player opinion on this and what I should do?

I saw someone in the anomaly with a pink butterfly, just sitting on their ship, and I (with my pink and blue color scheme) couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab this wonderful shot with them. When they returned from afk, we became friends and they are going to help me make sequence my butterfly to make it pink!

Is there a limit to number of SR-Teleporters you can place in Freighters? [Question]

I was re-doing my freigher base and so I had the idea of using Short Range Teleporters as elevators to get to each floors. I built a total of ten of them; two on each floor, but it seems like only 6 of the 10 are actually powered. I have tried reloading to see if it gets fixed but that didn't work. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of SR Teleporters or maybe is there a height limit upto to which the power is carried?

Someone Built a Massive Base on My Base [NMSTG Hub]

So, here's a weird problem. This morning I found someone has constructed an enormous, towering base of pre-fab components right next to the galactic portal, and directly in between my base (Diplo Supply Center) and the portal. It's called Esosow.Adle Portal, and at the moment the name of the builder is not displaying. It was shown earlier, but I didn't jot it down. In fact, I'm looking at it now, and even the name of the base has disappeared, but the construction is still very much there.

If they put it on the other side of the portal, okay. If they put it further from my base, fine. Its base computer is only 186u from mine! How is that possible? I didn't think you could build a base within an existing base's radius. I can stand right next to his base computer, open up my build menu, and construct anything I want on his base!  His Base Computer also reads as 164u from White Pandora base, which is basically the portal.

Because I have access to both a PC and a Mac here, I went over to the PC to see how it looked there.  I logged in and found the base missing, only indentations in the ground where it had been. I logged back into my Mac and found it missing again. . . for a while. After a couple of minutes it appeared. I think maybe it took a long time to download from the server just because it's so big and has so many components.

So, I don't know what to do now. It's obnoxious, and I was tempted to start building junk all over it as a form of protest, but that's probably rash and might just make things worse. If I sometimes can't see it, maybe the builder wasn't even able to see my base when he planted it, who knows? I could report it and make it disappear for me, but not for everyone else. What to do. . .

What's the point of building massive farms. [Question]

I saw some posts here recently from people asking opinions about their massive nip bud farms, or fish things. Something about mould... And then coming up with efficient strategies and whatnot.

I get that farms are for making massive amounts of ingredients/items. But really, what's the point?

It can't be for money since that's so easily made in the game. Running along 300 farm beds collecting ingredients every few hours can't be more efficient than just playing random adventures for that same few hours and selling the loot. Plus there are freighter missions that do passive income.

I'm wondering because I went on a wasteful spending spree to just buy a ton of multitool slots and spending like 250-300 million on that. Going from some 422Mil, to less than 100 million.

I thought "it'll take ages to get that money back" And less than 7 hours playing later I had 500 million credits again from just dicking around with missions, some salvaged ships and doing whatever. I didn't even realize I had already earned that much until I saw the amount a few hours later.

So what's the idea here? Thoughts?

Angled Floors [Question]

Hello! I’ve got a question for the master base builders of the community. I’ve been trying to learn all the different base building glitches so I can improve my builds but I’m having a big problem with one so far and that’s giving a slope or slight angle to my floors. I’ve been trying to use the Beeblebum method of using a garage door as my center connection but when I move any part it deletes the wire unlike in his video. I’ve read that an update at some point made this method no longer possible so I’m wondering if there’s any other techniques I can use to create angles and slopes or is it simply not doable anymore?

Am I missing something? [Question]

After taking a break and coming back to NMS (I’m sort of a casual player, love the game but don’t always have time) I remembered why I took a hiatus in the first place. I feel like I’ve hit a wall with the main quests and can’t help but wonder if I’m forgetting something in these storylines. They all say things of likes of “explore your new reality” and “find a wonder to show the atlas” (which I have already done dozens of times). Should I not have accepted the guidance of the Atlas? I can’t remember thinking too much about which way it would take me.

Stuck. In Stellar Multitudes III, can’t get inverted mirror on dissonant world. [Question]

I’ve just made the anchor whatever thing, now I’ve been sent to get an inverted mirror from the dissonant world in my purple system. Problem is, that is a water world about 1300U deep and nowhere for the purple spinny mine-y thing to spawn (what are they called?).

When I land with my Aqua jets and use my visor it says there are no targets in range. I tried to get to the ocean floor with the nautilon but then my visor says there is nothing to scan for.

Help would be greatly appreciated! Unfortunately there is nothing other dissonant world in this system.

Audio very loud when scanning [Bug]

Ever since the Relics update my audio has been messed up. I have my in game music at 25% and my SFX at 2% yet when i scan anything with the visor, the visor is at full volume. Even when i set everything to 0%, it still screams UNITS RECEIVED at full volume lmfao I just did an uninstall and reinstall. Is anyone else having this issue? I submitted a ticket a few weeks ago and i haven’t seen an answer.

Death Loop - Early game [Bug]

Hello!

I'm new to the game and just got to the big orb space station that the main story seams to have been leading me to.

I get out of my ship and I then promptly fall to my death then Respawn. (I had not died before this, sad to lose the streak). Then if I want to continue I have to go back in and the same thing happens. Any advice?

Just a PSA for newer players. If you’re going to the Anomaly and feel like you need to go AFK, make sure your PVP is off and your settings are to no loss of inventory when you die. There are certain griefers that will glitch you to where you need to restart or may cause you to die. I had an experience with just the such a sort the other day. They were trying to pull another player into the teleport for the multitool decommissioning station and somehow glitched me in between the floors to where I had to restart. Luckily I had my settings set to where I didn’t lose anything. But for those that haven’t yet. CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS!

Biodiversity and more detailed animal interactions and behavior? [Question]

I originally bought NMS on release day 10 years ago, but was disappointed in the lack of biodiversity and nuance animal interactions and behavior that was sort of depicted in the original E3 trailer. I know they've added a ton of features, but the main pull for me with this game was always basically to play a procedurally generated unpredictable game version of a nature documentary.

I made these cards using a 4" x 6" format so they may be printed on cardstock. I invite any and all constructive feedback and please do tell me if I have any of the recipes incorrect. Please also note that some recipes can be made with different ingredients (such as Questionably Sweet Cake) and as such I have not prepared a recipe card for all variations. Just for what I figured would be the easiest.

Exocraft controls are awful [Discussion]

Had the game in my steam library for over a year, but I've only recently (finally) gotten into it, and I love it. However....the Exocraft controls (at least when using an Xbox controller) are absolute dogshit, and possibly the worst vehicle controls I've ever experienced in over 20 years of playing games. Why they opted to rely solely on the thumb sticks, instead of using the triggers for the gas/brake is such a baffling decision. I'll admit that I have yet to look into ways to remap controls to something more typically seen in driving games, I'll probably never use exocraft, if I can help it.

The 'Little Fixes' wishlist. [Question]

Have I missed this previously? Is there a thread for the little things we wish they'd fix in the game? I mean stuff that's been around for years and must surely be easy enough to sort, but never seems to get addressed. I play only in VR, so I don't know if the flatscreen game has the same problems, but here's my list:

Ships hovering above landing pads or sinking into them.

Weird interaction hotspots for trade terminals/exosuit upgraders and such, where you sometimes have to virtually climb inside them to get the 'pull to interact' prompt.

The same ship and the same pilot spawning into a space station two or three times at once (or is that intentional to the concept of the story?).

Matching cockpit interiors for ALL the exterior designs. Call me fussy, but I refuse to own the 'bay window' style Explorers because the interior model is always the 'fishbowl' cockpit. It just breaks immersion.

The fact that there's ALWAYS an NPC stuck in a wall somewhere in your settlements.

Special mention: they finally fixed fly-by craft from flying through the landscape but now they just stop dead and zoom upwards or end up stuck in a tree like a kite.

I do love this game, and the fact they're always making it more and more interesting, but it would be even better if the little things were addressed. Any others you reckon they could easily sort out?

So I have a question about this, I found an old post about the prerequisites to unlock the staff. Do I need to finite "The Purge" quest line as well? Cuz it's technically part of the Artemis quest line? I have everything else done, but I just need to know if resetting the simulation will get me the staff as well?

RIP my permadeath file beautifully [Discussion]

I landed on the wrong planet in my permadeath save. I'm on a tiny pillar of rock, surrounded by deep ocean in every direction. I'm out of launch fuel, and I have no ferrite. I can only survive a few seconds outside the ship before the toxic air kills me — and toxic storms roll in every few minutes, bringing massive waves.

I've been doing suicide laps in every direction, diving in and shooting aimlessly for ferrite dust.

all I can do is sit in my ship, watch the lightning storms, and wait for my oxygen to run out.

Newbie (40hrs) questions… [Question]

Hi guys, I’m doing better at the game and no longer trying to use the pulse engine to get from galaxy to galaxy! But I have some questions about stuff that I feel like might make my play easier.

  1. my ship (default one?) is pretty small but I have a lot of A and S class tech on it. If I see a new ship and I like the aesthetics and decide I want to buy it, does my stuff transfer over? I saw the option when I (accidentally?) got a frigate that I never use.

  2. can I summon my frigate or do I have to go all the way back to wherever it is? or portal I guess.

  3. is there a way to see resources from my ship? like if I’m flying around I’d love to use the scanner to see where things are so I don’t waste fuel landing, scanning, then launching over and over again.

Question Regarding S-Class NPC StarShips [Question]

Very very rarely, I'll see S-Class variants of normal NPC ships (not ball or squid ships) docked at trade ports and space stations, does this mean any random NPC ship can have an extremely rare chance of being S-Class? Or is it only ever the one, and no other NPC ship in that system can generate as an S-Class (save for exotics)?

Still no fix for the memory leaks / hogging? [Bug]

Been having this issue ever since I started playing. Alt-tabbing, visiting planets and other stuff causes a huge fps performance (down to 15-30 fps at some points), even though I have a good PC. Does anybody know of any fix, a setting to turn down?

Need some help/Advice please! [Question]

Hi there NMS reddit. My question is this:

I haven’t properly played NMS for maybe 4/5 years? I have a save with 285 hours on it, had all the indium/material farms going (unlimited units, max upgraded freighter, ships etc etc).

Given that so many updates/changes have happened in the intervening years, would I be better off just starting afresh?

Is it still going to take me ages to fully upgrade myself/base again?; I remember having to grind planets for blueprints and drop pods which wasn’t fun at all.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

I Can’t Find My Old Starship [Question]

I'm very new to No Man's Sky. I found a crashed ship and accidentally claimed it, which I think made it my primary starship. Now I don’t want to repair that broken ship—I want to go back to using my original one.
However, the minimap only shows the new (damaged) ship, and I can’t see my old starship anywhere. I had a lot of inventory stored on it too.
Please tell me it’s not gone! How can I find and switch back to my original ship?

AFK solutions [Suggestion]

Sometimes you just need to go AFK. We don't need to get into the reasons. You just need to. But this is a live game. You can't pause a live game. No one's ever heard of an AFK button either. And nobody likes to get murdered by a passing storm while they're out in the open, or a pirate raid while we thought we were safe in our ship. I usually don't realize anything has even happened until I go to check my inventory and see it empty and panic and then realize there's a gravestone nearby. But real life beckons. Here's what I propose

While you're out in the open there could be a setting in your menu to hibernate. Maybe your character squats down and a little shimmering shield envelops them and protects them from everything, period.

Likewise while you're in your ship there could be a setting in your menu to go dark. Rendering you completely invisible to pirates and sentinels. If you are already in a battle, it doesn't matter. The battle will still be there when you get back unless someone else came along and finished it for you. But the important thing is your character and your ship are completely safe while you go do real life stuff. Pause functionality within a live game. I can scarcely see it being used for an advantage. You can't make any action at all while you're in the state.

I brought the original ship and multi-tool into the latest version of the game. This is what they look like [Screenshot]

Hey everyone! I wanted to bring the Rasamama S36 into the current version of the game and fly it around on my main save.

I was curious if it would turn into a Radiant Pillar but it didn’t.

Here’s how I went about it: Created a new account on my PS4 Disconnect from the Internet Started a new game directly from the disk Repaired the Rasamama S36 and flew to the space station (just in case something happened to the planet over the years) Connected to the internet and updated the game Logged back in after it updated and took photos.

The ship named changed to Honmatan MQ5 and it is red and white now, but this is 100% the same ship!

The MT changed names too but looks pretty much the same.

Now I have both accounts at the same trading post & am in the process of trying to trade with an NPC so I can fly the original on my main account.

Added a bonus photo of what the original suit looks like as well, from when my two characters met up at the main account space station.

Lost my main save [Question]

Was playing the expedition and got off for the night, got back on the next day and it was as if I deleted the game and reinstalled it. Nothing would load from the cloud. I love the game but feel really bad as I lost a over 100 hour save and had made that save years ago. Feeling really down about this and am fighting with the urge to restart or just delete the game. Any advice or reason to start over?

Just spent 40k Nanites upgrading my favourite Sentinel ship to S class... [Question]

Was it worth it? I haven't noticed a jump in it's stats? I get extra space to expand the slots I think, right? I'm planning on farming ships to break down to get more slots unlocked with the upgrade modules since I don't think I'm anywhere near maxed out yet.

Any tips on the things to outfit my ship with to boost it's stats? I have like over a thousand in the hyperdrive distance, which is fun. I have almost all tech from anomaly apart from all the weapons. But like my multi-tool has 9000 damage potential and has like 2 weapons on it so...

Either way I love the ship aesthetically so I hope it feels worth it.

I hope the next update gives the Exocraft some love [Discussion]

The Exocraft are great, but they could really use some updates. In addition to storage augmentations and some better upgrades, I would love a suborbital aircraft of some kind. It sucks having to get in and out of your ship and launch and land just to hop a few thousand meters. Even a grasshopper-type vehicle that could hop and glide would suffice.

Can I access expedition rewards on different saves? [Question]

Before I found out that I could use the expedition terminal to initiate expeditions in my main save, I was create new games for the sole purpose of competing expeditions. The rewards from these expeditions (not part of the current redux missions) aren’t accessible in my main save. Is there a way to merge save games? Seems like a reach but until we are given the opportunity to replay the first 10 expeditions or so (I’m guessing here), i fear the rewards will be lost to me. Thank you travelers.

VR headset + keyboard [Question]

I just recently jumped into the game, it's great and I enjoy it. But I also couldn't help but notice the VR variant in Steam launch, so I brushed the dust off of my old Oculus Quest and gave it a spin. Everything looks cool, but the gameplay with VR sucks, google and youtube search didn't seem to bring much clarity to it, everyone plays with xbox conroller.

Is there any possibility to play with the headset but use keyboard + mouse as controls? I'd go as far as patch the game to make it possible. Thanks in advance!

Help!!!! [Question]

No matter how many different altas station I go to and interact with the interfaces. It does not complete. I’ve tried a suggestion of going through black holes and then trying, I’ve trying going back too polo to get coordinates, the lot. Anyone had this issue? It tells me to locate one, then approach it and then interact with the interface. I do and then it resets back to “use the galaxy map to locate a altas station blah blah blah” 😑

Ideas on how to fill knowledge gaps. [Question]

I played NMS on PS4 at release and stopped shortly after. When NMS was released for PSVR, I put 2000 hours into the game and then stopped to play Elite: Dangerous (I'm a VR whore).

I'm missing about four years of updates. I'm playing permadeath and the idea of being stranded on a water planet scares me. I went through the center of the universe in a sentinel ship and was stranded because getting inverted mirrors and crystalized hearts were almost impossible.

Does anyone have any advice on how to fill in the knowledge gaps I have? I haven't fished, there's a lot I'm missing out on because I'm scared of dying.

I'd rather it feel organic, like I'm learning it as I need it as opposed to feeling like I'm doing homework. I'm not against doing straight research, I'd rather not have to sift through 10 minutes of introduction videos ("Hey this is your boy, Poopfartsplus, make sure to hit that like and follow button. Here's nine minutes of filler to extend this video length to 10 minutes. Have fun sorting through the fluff!" type stuff).

I used my main save to play the expedition. I understand that when I end the expedition everything I have will transfer over because this is my main safe. What I want to know is what happens to the freighter that I claimed to try and make the expedition easier. Will that erase my freighter and everything in it that I had before I started the expedition on this main save?

Apparently I got really lucky with cross-save [Discussion]

I had been putting off cross-save for a while, not realizing that most people have to wait a while for a slot to open up, but a few days ago I decided on a whim to try and put my 400 hour save on my switch from PC. I didn't have to wait at all, and I didn't realize that I am an outlier apparently. Now my friend it trying to transfer between PC and PS5, but they're having to wait.

Is there something that influenced that? Does the device you're transferring to or from make a difference? How long did you have to wait for it?

Would anyone actually use a plant base? [Question]

I've been building a large base just for growing every plant type (mostly to make fusion igniters but also to have a small amount of everything if needed)

Not sure how much more I can place before it exceeds upload limit, but would any players actually like that type of base uploaded and posted for use? I see plenty of bases for metals and oxygen, but not really any plant farms. Does anyone want them? Should I post it when done?

Travelled to new galaxy, switched to none broken ship, can't find my broken ship [Question]

I finished the main quest. My ship broke so I called in my other ship so I could explore. Before, non-repaires ships I've found turned up on my freighter.

Yeah so it's not on my freighter. It has all my pugneum on it which I need to fix a bunch of stuff. How do I get my ship back? I can't call it with navigation data because my other ship is registered as my main ship now.

Tips for no HUD playstyle? [Question]

I'm trying to get into playing without a virtual crutch. So far, I'm liking the lack of visual pollution of all the location markers showing up. The only gripe is that now I don't have location markers at all...

I can't complete the Exhibition Admission milestone without knowing where to dig for artifacts.

... maybe that's the point? Part of archaeology is finding a ruin and start digging.

I'm not sure how this would play out for the rest of the game, though. Any tips?

Underwater base: non-stop splashing in cuboid rooms [Question]

I started work on my underwater base today and when I started work inside the cuboid rooms I'd place there's a non-stop splashing sound that is absolutely grating after a few seconds. Does that go away eventually? My other pre-fab rooms and corridors did that initially but stopped after a few minutes but the cuboid rooms don't seem to be. I eventually just deleted them all because I couldn't stand to be inside them.

Griefer filling my inventory with Au++ [Question]

A while ago, another player in this sub told us about a peaceful planet that they were building a community on called LoreFriendlyEarth, in the system Sol1000. I headed over there and built my own base, and I go back regularly to see who's around.

A couple of days ago I met stonetootsie of Euclid when they visited my base. My game told me that they gave me 1 of something, but not what it was. I didn't bother looking for it.

I've just been back to the base and noticed that stonetootsie was on planet, so I flew over to say hi. They have me more of this 1 thing, and for some reason a base computer. I did spot what it was this time and grabbed a screenshot.

It looks like they're one of the save game editors giving useless crap away. I apparently now have five stacks of this Au++ that looks all messed up. I figured I'd delete it, but I can't. I can't do anything with it. But now it's taking up five of my slots. I did find that if I drop something over the top of it that the thing appears to duplicate, but then I can't interact with the thing that's now in its place.

Does anyone know how I get rid of it? And is there a way to report this guy who appears to be griefing? I'm in Xbox, by the way.

Am I missing something? (invisible settlement site) [Bug]

Hey all

Been working on my settlement and just got this prompt to bring a single unit to a scrap pile
However it seems to be completely missing or invisible... The marker was originally placed inside the big tower in the middle of the settlement, so I teleported away and back, and now it's just floating in the middle of nothing...

Has anyone gotten this as well? And is there even a fix or is my settlement bricked?

I can't find final dig site for relics expedition. [Bug]

I have looked and looked for the system and can't find it. I can't get a taxi there because Xbox no game pass. And no traveler glyphs either. Got a few days left to find it. But as it seems right now I won't be competing this expedition. If I can at least get to the system there is a post here in Reddit that gives cords to it. How to cheese sentinel walkers? [Question]

The fact it continuously spawns sentinel healers makes it incredibly hard to kill off the robot mecha guys I don't know what they are called almost unkillable without max upgrades. I tried using a blaze javelin with an S tier upgrade but i still don't come even close.

Looking to start again, what do I do? [Question]

Hello all,

I played NMS a few years ago with my brother and really.enjoyed exploration and base building. But I got bored as the game feels repetitive after about 10 hours.

What else can I do in this game? I don't understand the expeditions? Do you create a new character each expedition? If so, why? Then you'd have to start again and find resources again right?

I really want to get back into this game, can I get some help and support with what I should be trying to find and explore for?

ok the title is a joke don't quote me but oh my god is the space combat system on VR ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS I mean, even looking past the "X to lock on" system being so horrendously bad and basically giving anything a free hit on you, aiming on VR is incredibly hard because I don't know, YOU CANT JUST CLICK A BUTTON!!!! Seriously, I want the devs to add a new system that makes it so VR players can use the original space combat system if they want, because the system we have is HORRIBLE. It's almost impossible to not just run away from any thief entity you come across, or perhaps get an interceptor ship or freighter without going on Reddit and looking up one that has glyphs for free.

Is it possible to chain short-range teleporters in such a way that you could enter at the middle of the chain and teleport to the end destination? [Question]

Working on a new base on a deep ocean planet. Base starts at 1600u below sea level and reaches a little passed the surface.

The basic idea is that the sea floor level and the surface level are the primary and largest parts of the base where I’ll keep most things.

The two parts are connected with a cuboid iron bar underwater pillar and have small room add-ons periodically every 140-180u. In each of these add-one I’ve supplied power source and teleporters. So far the teleporters take you up and down one floor at a time but I’d like to do two chain teleporters as well, one that shoots you all the way up and one all the way down, and the hope is that I could hop onto that chain at any floor to achieve the desired result as well but I’m now thinking that might now work because what’s stopping the chain I intend to be an upward chain from registering the teleporter below first and taking me down instead.

Just looking for more info on it and how it works, and if anyone has successfully done what I’m trying to do.

I picked up the game the other day and I’ve gotten a base outfitted with stations for the overseer, scientist, and armorer. I did the armorer quests and he rewarded me with a multi tool, but I can just keep getting it for free over and over. Is this a bug?

Lost gifted ship parts found (missed connection) [Discussion]

I was in the Nexus and you asked if anyone was new. I gestured yes, and you added me to your group and we went to a space station in your system Okazot-Ayv. You gifted me parts for a ship, but I managed to only get the fuselage somehow. I was on Xbox, and didn't have a headset. I think you were on PC. I had to figure out how to tell you I didn't have those other parts in my inventory. We bridge the language barrier though, and you gave me your last reactor core for the ship I ended up making. I ended up finding the missing Tri-booster, Halo wing, and reactor in my Minotaur's inventory. Hoping you see this because I don't know how else to get these parts back to you.

Star System log, Discoveries App [Fan Work Video]

So I created a way to store and log all my discovered Star Systems, as I make my way jumping between Galaxies. Since the official NMS Discoveries Tab, likes to forget what I rename things- I decided to make a Form which acts like an App, that I can view all my saved Star Systems in one easy place (Jotform App)

Permadeath is…. Different [Question]

A few years ago I played a permadeath run to the center and while starting out was at times difficult i don’t ever recall coming close to actually dying.

I tried on 4 different occasions today and died on every one. I made it as far as building my first, albeit small, base and somehow managed to not find enough either sodium or oxygen.

Did HG make the game harder or do I not know how to play it anymore?

Hardframe Engine- stuck [Question]

Last Second Save - Golf Mini game at my base Halcyon Haven [NMSTG Hub]

Ball spawns all the way at the top of my floating island base, have to dodge the water hazard fishing grotto below to get into the hole. I’m like 70% sure the ball bumps that creature into the water near the end, but it might’ve slowed it enough for me to make the save.

Part of my Capital Planet Lowella base Halcyon Haven; it’s got like four levels to it, a fishing grotto, a farm, a pavilion, and little secrets like this golf game. I’ll need to do a follow up on the rest of the base. Please feel free to stop by, chill, and get some coordinates to visit my home world.

Btw, I actually just got back into this game again recently after last playing around when they first added bases (had to find them back then iirc) and I’m blown away by the changes. (Custom gamemode,PS4)

I'm only 50h in, but this game seems legit one of the best* of all time? [Discussion]

Depending how the developer keeps on handling it moving forward, but it seems like they're doing a good job so far.

They've created an amazing baseline world where they can keep on adding (or removing when necessary) amazing content. I've kept thinking of this idea for a while. Just saw a post where someone traversed an amazing looking tunnel system of a planet and then I thought to myself - what if there was a season/patch that came up with ancient creatures hidden in depths of planets who fight back or interact in interesting ways, and there was a questline to even find them, or wake them up from a slumber, or whatever

It reminds me very much of Path of Exile (RIP) and how it used to run on seasons and GGG, the developer, coming up with amazing new mechanics, lore, content, basically "fun stuff to do"

As I said, I'm only 50h in, so I'm still scratching the surface only, and progressing super slow as I'm one of those ppl who get distracted away from any major storylines with minor stuff

Super easy to get! Go the glyph location, just fly into to the space station and wait there. Wait until the npc comes with the ship looks exactly same as the pics, doesn’t matter wat class, buy it. Then upgrade it to S class and unlock all the slots u ll see 4 adjacent supercharge slots.

100% will be T4 as long u r in the right space station and bought the right ship.

Euclid galaxy and don’t forget disable multiplayer when getting it.

Bored? Hire an AI Mission Assistant! [Fan Work]

I saw Captain Steve (a NMS YouTuber) using an AI voice chat (maybe Copilot) to role play on NMS and was intrigued to try it myself. I tried it with Chat GPT and was blown away by the results.

I’m about 300 hours into the game and had done everything that I personally consider to be end game content. I was now bored and was not likely to spend much more time in the game apart from completing expeditions or until some main save story content was added in future updates. But adding an AI Mission Assistant has breathed a massive amount of new life into this game!

I told Chat GPT that I’m a pirate traveller for hire, on the lookout for the most lucrative and dangerous jobs in the galaxy. Its role was to receive messages from potential employers, relay them to me for consideration and then, if accepted, assist me with info and strategies on completing them efficiently.

The first mission that came through was from someone wanting stasis devices so they could smuggle wanted pirates out of the galaxy. All materials had to be untraceable though, so they couldn’t be bought - they had to be hand-crafted from entirely raw materials. The buyer was prepared to pay 50% above market value for the extra time this would take, so I accepted the mission.

Having someone to bounce ideas off while I searched for the materials, and ask for info that I’d otherwise have to search for manually, added a crazy amount of immersion and satisfaction to the process that would have otherwise been pretty mundane. The backstory that GPT had crafted gave it purpose and a meaningful end goal. It really has breathed a whole new level of life into this game that I loved but which had become almost dead to me. I highly recommend trying it if you’re in a similar position.

The free version of Chat GPT allows you to do this, but the plus subscription makes it a bit quicker to respond. Feel free...

Optical Drill does not affect crop yield anymore [Information]

As stated above. I’ve seen some guides online from a while ago that all state, that it’s possible to improve crop yield by installing and boosting the optical drill in your multitool.

That should have been able to increase yield by up to 75%. I have just gone through maxing out my multitool, upgrading to s class, getting all the mining beam upgrades and supercharging the optical drill to boost ressources mined by 88%.

Tested it on gutrot flower and there is no difference between that multitool and any random not upgraded one without the optical drill. Both yield 25 feacium per plant.

So i guess either i’m doing something completely wrong, or they took it out of the game. I cannot find any information about that online though, so i cam to share my findings.

Do nice freighters not spawn if you don't own one? [Question]

In my main save, I have so far only found free or for sale freighters that are Rank C. I currently don't have a freighter and am wondering if it's even possible to find for free or buy a rank S freighter as your first one?

I know that nicer ones like pirate capital freighters start spawning after you buy the first one but what if I don't want those two models and instead want the centrifuge or something (at rank s)?

Sure, I am happy with all the new periodic large scale updates but I do believe it would be better if the dev team instead decided to polish up the game for a few months first. Fixing things like multiplayer, adding more dynamic behavior to npc's and fauna and more customization. One thing I really want is factions, and I dont just mean like the explorers or mercenaries, there should be named companies and factions such as Ooglek Star Inc. that would manufacture starships, and maybe when traveling you could find a group of npc just wandering around the planet and get the oppurtunity to go on a lil' expedition with them.

Farming Sentinel Interceptors. [Information]

Thanks to u/CakeTester's guide to Sentinel Interceptors, you can actually become rich in a matter of hours. I've added some notes to make the process even easier. First, you need to find a dissonant system. Look for "dissonance" tag under the System name on the Galaxy map. Dissonant systems are more common closer to the center of the galaxy. When you arrive at the desired system, scan for planets. You want to find one with the "dissonance detected" label. Another way to find dissonant systems is to complete an Anomaly quest with Carrier AI Fragment as the reward. Alternatively, Carrier AI Fragments can be obtained by destroying Sentinel Capital Ships. Using these fragments will point you to the crash site of the closest planet with dissonance, bypassing the entire "Echo Locator" thing. You can collect a lot of these and use them on the same planet. However, the previous Sentinel Interceptor needs to be fixed and added to your fleet or it will take you to the same location. Land on the planet and look for drilling "Dissonance Resonator" tripods with flags on top. They have special icons in the scanner and should not be difficult to spot. Tripods do not appear on all planets so you may need to try several planets before finding them. You can also use your starship to destroy things from the safety. Destroy the resonator and dig a hole in the ground immediately. Corrupted War-Sentinels will follow you so you need to hide and wait 10 seconds to shake them off. When you destroy the dig site, you may get two things: an Inverted Mirror (save it for later) and/or an Echo Locator. Repeat until you have 2 mirror shards and 1 locator. Also, you will need 3 "Radiant Shard" (crystal-like icons on the scanner) to fix the ship so collect them while running around. Use the Echo Locator in your inventory. This will give you a navigational point to an Autophage camp....

Is frame gen working? [Question]

Is frame gen fixed now? If I’m running ultra textures I get a crash saying something like “Failed to initialize vulkan low vram”

If I put textures to high it doesn’t crash but I get pretty bad stutters every few seconds. No stutters with frame gen off. RTX 4060 ryzen 7 3700x

No ships coming to space station? [Bug]

I recently started playing NMS again and noticed that space stations are no longer receiving constant ships. When I enter, I get one wave of ships, but once they all depart, no more ships arrive. I've been idling in the station for 15 minutes and not a single ship has arrived. This happens all the time now. Is this a bug or just a new feature? Anything I can do to fix it?

Been playing since launch. Just tried permadeath for the first time [Question]

I just tried out my first permadeath save file after 3-400 hours playing regular saves. I cant seem to get past the hazard protections. I repair the first ship, get to another planet or even as far as unlocking the first soace station but then eventually succumb to the hazard protections. Obviously its designed too be difficult. Ive died twice now and sunk maybe 2-3 hours of play time. Any advice for a permadeath noob?

Summer is almost here. What's next? [Discussion]

With the latest Expedition coming to a close this week, and summer right around the corner, I'm curious to know what could be next. I feel like the team has added some much-needed depth to a number of features across the board. While there are definitely things they could add more depth to, we all know the team is liable to add more additional content as well. But at this point, I don't know what I would want out of them in terms of new things. Are there any speculations you all might have? Are there any leaks from previous updates that have yet to surface?

Mainly just curious since around the summer months is when we typically see the largest update they have saved for the year (going off of a good chunk of the past updates). Either way I'll always dip back into the game with whatever they decide to release.

Permadeath game over screen should be reworked [Suggestion]

Don't get me wrong the silence with the quote is great but I don't know I feel like it's not enough. If I have to loose a 100 hours save at least give me a sad music with a beautiful scenery to make it more impactful making me cry over the end of my journey, no man's sky music are amazing...

Maybe someone else will have better luck, best I could do after around 100 ai fragments. So close to getting 4 sc slots together, managed a close 3+1 with decent stats. All black aside from some red pinstriping along the cockpit and a touch of yellow around the wing thrusters and edges of the dragonfly wings.

The Unreliable (The Outer Worlds) [Build]

She’s bang on 3k and while I continue to shake my fist at Sean, I’ve done the best I can, but I’ve focussed on interior decor rather than the exterior. I despise curves. She’s in Eissentam 🤗 (glyphs in the last image) if you wanna visit, the teleporter is at the top of a hill below the build, I’d recommend getting inside, saving and then reloading. I uploaded today so there might be a few tweaks occurring as the databases update.

I love NMS's community [Fan Work]

I just wanted to share that NMS's community is great, I love the positive vibes here, people open heartedly help others and are welcoming towards new players.

I've always had a good feeling about the developers too. I've seen good, transparency and passion when I first saw them talking about the game. I know I'm not alone with these feelings and it seems time has proven this to be right, since they've been improving the game and delivering us such great free content, they never gave up and I'm sure more improvements and content are in the way.

My first real base [Build Video]

Got really into NMS a couple years ago, logged about 200 hours but never really put much effort into bases besides 4 walls and a door.

Started a new save recently to play with a friend fresh to NMS, got really into it all over again, and decided to build a real base.

I’ve added some decorations since this video. It would be easier to see during the day but I LOVE the shimmering effect over the grass at night.

Cross Save Issue [Question]

OK. So I have been using cross save to access one of my old PS4 saves on my PC. All connected to cross save and working fine. I fancied a bit of a challenge, so decided to cross-save an even older PS4 save that was way behind in missions etc. I loaded the save on my PS4. Played it for a bit and then saved and quit. In my PS4 menu, I went to the load screen and saw that the "Manage Cross Saves" button was saying there was a new save available. When I click on the button however, the most recent save doesn't show up, just the previous two saves that I've have been using for months. When I log in to my PC Steam version of NMS the game isn't showing there either. I have checked on the HG website that both my Sony and Steam accounts are connected. Am I missing something?

Locking quests [Suggestion]

Disclaimer: this is a SUGGESTION. I don't care about "that's how the developers did it, so suck it up".

A very minor gripe that I have is that quests will insert themselves as the active quest even when you have selected a different quest. I would love it if either quests cannot be changed by in-game events, or there is an option to lock a selected quest so that it cannot be superseded by another one.

On foot combat?? [Question]

I'm 50h into the game and haven't done much on-foot combat yet. I mostly just fled. Today I entered a derelict freighter in space and there were these annoying little bug things that came out of slime, I have no idea what that was and they killed me pretty quickly. They didn't do much damage themselves, but there were so many. What can I do to be better at combat? What kind of multitools are the best for fighting? I can't stay like this or I will never feel safe again😭😭

Yay For Bonefish [Question]

Okay, so this expedition is about to turn me off from NMS. I have only the Bonefish task left, and I have tried everything. Not sure if this is a PS5 issue or what. I have used shadow lures, 100+ deep water, at night. Should I look for a toxic planet? Can it be any type of toxic?

Does anyone have coordinates for a planet that they caught a bonefish on? These bonefish are making me feel like a real bonehead. I’m not going to be thrilled if I don’t get this expedition because of this one task.

Save sharing, good idea? terrible idea? [Suggestion]

Since HG now have Cross Save and have been doing a lot of work on save format recently, what if they added a button on the save screen to 'export save'

And also gave an option to 'import save'

Would you want to share your save with others?

Would you want to play other people's saves?

Would you create special saves with special bases for friends as a gift?

Would there be a market for curated saves, starter saves or specialist saves?

Just pondering...

HG's sandbox is a creative tool, after all, and sharing what we create is a natural human desire.

I have a few questions about getting back into no man’s sky! [Question]

At this point I have enough time logged, and I've started over enough that I should already know this. All I can say is either my memory is getting spotty, or I'm just inattentive. Either way, I can't seem to find the answer, so I'm hoping one of you wonderful Travelers can help me out.

First, this is NOT about the sentinel lore in general. I do already know and remember that.

Rather, I am wondering if there is in-game lore regarding why interceptors are left abandoned on dissonant planets. Was there any text that addressed what the ships did wrong? And would you remember where it was found?

Interesting look with a big bright eye and flat body. Nice shape with antennas on side,the green spine probably feels a bit weird for some ppl …….much better if is pure black. Still not bad for me.

Found both T & L shape adjacent SC, both left a base.

I'm building a base with shops and have been using wonders as signs.\ The though occurred to me that if we could add our ships and multi-tools to the wonder catalogue, we could display them.\ I'd love a display of all my stuff!

Why stop there - add our freighters, favourite frigates, our character model, even.

Has Frigate Fuel Usage been changed/modified recently? [Question]

Hi all, I'm trying to find a new set of frigates for a new save and I'm finding so many frigates to purchase that have terrible fuel efficiency. I don't recall it being this difficult to find fuel efficient ships.

I'm finding all kinds of specialty frigates with fuel usage of 10-12 units per ly.

Even most of the supply ships I'm finding are usually 4 or 5 units per ly which defeats the point.

If you're shopping for frigates, have you noticed this? Has it seemed like a change in the algo that generates these to produce more with bad fuel efficiency?

Just found out about save file limit (15) [Question]

Just found out you can only have 15 save files, which is kinda an issue. I have one file for each expedition (I'm missing a few), one permadeath, one in which I'm an outlaw pirate and my main OG file.

Is there any way to have more? Should I delete some completed expeditions? Can I backup files and remove them and somewhat keep them?

How did you work around this limit? Do you do your expeditions on your main file? Do you delete them once over? I dont play them anymore I just keep to remind which I've done and remember the journey

Not really.

Lately, whenever I get an alert about an incoming meteor shower I also get a volcanic activity alert.

This means I have to look up to see which way to run from meteors but also watch the ground to make sure I don't run into any walls of flame.

I wish the game would limit itself to one catastrophe at a time.

Found Another One [Screenshot]

Found another Stone Effigy in Litzmantufa. Coordinates above.

This one is interesting because it’s on a chameleon planet. The relic stones glow yellow from the sky and change to blue when you get close or when it’s raining.

I have now found 2, one on a Ruined Moon and one on a Reliquary. I have yet to find one on the other Reliquary biomes like Bleached or Toxic Ruin. I’m starting to question if they appear on those.

The Death Mechanic In This Game Sucks [Suggestion]

Why does my guy respawn out in the freezing cold with a bunch of brokenass equipment? Shouldn't he respawn in a more environmentally stable location with a default set of starting equipment so I have a chance to find my old equipment and break it down into spare parts? The idea with respawning in a video game isn't to torture the player by forcing them to fix everything right off the back that caused them to die, but rather, encourage the player to learn the game mechanics so they can do better the next time around. Devs, PLEASE patch this game so the player respawns on a environmentally stable planet with fresh equipment because it makes more sense to do that from a gameplay standpoint.

Identify Build Material? [Question]

Okay, here's probably a noob question but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. If I'm visiting someone else's base and I see something interesting and want to know what the name of the decoration item or built object is, how can I find that out? Like, in my own base I can select an object and it will tell me "such and such item" targeted. But I have tried doing that in other people's bases and of course it won't work because of editing privileges...The analysis visor doesn't seem to help. So, is there a way to figure out what stuff is made of in other people's bases so you can look it up in the wiki or someplace to figure out how to get the blueprint to it and make your own? Or is that just something that remains a mystery until you figure it out on your own?

Ground combat silly challenge for all the liquidators out there! [Suggestion]

I honestly believe there is only 3 “boss” creatures on land right now, Which would be the Walker, The Brooding mother and the Tendrils. I have a fun time hunting walkers, BUT something really fun that you can do is find a walker and begin fighting, then spawn a brooding mother, its pretty hard but if you have a minotaur with AI u can fight alongside them and it overall is a fun challenge that boasts good rewards! Highly recomend!

Problems with No Man’s Sky since Relics update. [Bug]

I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue but it seems to be happening since I installed the Relics update. Essentially it concerns the inventory and when I move an item from there to fuel or repair nothing happens. A small circle appears on the upper left side of whatever I’m trying to move almost like it’s locked. I’ve tried resetting and uninstalling but no luck. I’m 300 hours in and really don’t want to start over. If anyone has any ideas I’d be eternally grateful.

Question about quest log - neverending quests? [Question]

Hi there,

I am a NMS player since hour 1. And as most players sometimes I follow the mission line, sometimes I just fight or trade or explore.

But every know and then I wonder - I have these "never ending" mission in my log. And I wonder - ARE they neverending or is it a bug with my save game?

New player here. Need some help!! [Question]

Like the title, just got the game and have about maybe 1-2 hours in it. Loving this game so far and the beginner tutorial is very helpful too. Still trying to learn how to make money to buy that thing for your ship that makes you go zoom so if there is a way to make $106k fast, please do tell for beginner haha.

However, for a long term play, what this game is about? From the look of it, it feels like there isn’t an “end goal” here in this game right? Like Subnautica (if y’all know that), the goal is to make it through a “story line” and get home. It has kinda same vibe like NMS like farming, building bases and just basically open world also. It has different biomes and stuff and finding materials, blueprint for building and such but it does have an end goal is to escape the planet.

During the tutorial, does it teach you how to discover different planets or shooting ships in space? Also, the “space hub”, were those ships I saw landing and taking off from real players like me? How could you find a “hub” from different planets I guess? Is there a good “beginner guide” on youtube that covers this topic for beginner?

I know I should figure it out but just want to know. Thank You.

Howdy travelers, Would you mind sparing me a moment of your time? I've been playing this game for awhile and I really REALLY love it. I wanted to share some of my favorite companions here and in the same breath of air, I'd love to invite any interested parties into a little group of mine. I found some friends here on the reddit page and we've had a pretty fun time building and exploring together. We don't have a specific goal. We don't even have a name for our group. We just have a homebase and a lot of laughs. So with that in mind, I wanted to come here to the place that's helped me learn so much about my favorite game and I wanted to extend an invite into this little group for anyone who might be interested. Over the last few days of playing with these amazing people, I've traded and received amazing eggs, I've been given and I have received resources that I was either lacking or overstocked on, I've participated in a community build on a base that's so big that it took 3 different base computers to build. How do I get around this? [Question]

Newish to the game (90 hrs) and doing the Starbirth Quest. Just finish the Archived Soul and was prompted to return through the portal. Arrived at the portal and saw this weird thing hovering above it, couldn't land my ship anywhere near it. Walked into it and died to "Cosmic Rays." Had a restore point thankfully but I need to be able to get through this portal to progress the quest. Tried turning multiplayer off but it turns itself back on automatically.

Doors are still so messed up in this game [Discussion]

I have a ground base. It had 2 working doors. Never had a problem with them. Teleported in at night and for the first time ever there was no power to the base. I only have solar panels and batteries, so I guess they ran out, even though I've never had that happen before. Now I have one door that still works and one is completely locked. Absolutely nothing changed from when it was working except the base ran out of power and now it has power again.

I'm glad it only affected one door, but I have no clue why it happened, much less why it only happened to one.
