Constant stuttering/freezing on PC Steam [Bug]

Decided to get back into the game after a break with a new save and well.. I can't even get off any starting planet without the game freezing.

Constant stuttering, especially when turning/mining anything. If I don't stop and do pretty much nothing then eventually the entire screen will just freeze (however, audio is still going; I think it's just visual? Can hear the menu pop up if I press esc)

I tried changed graphic settings. Used to be on ultra, brought it down to lowest and the issues are still there but not as bad. Disabling/enabling v-sync, nothing. Dlss or any of the others, nothing. Reinstalled the game, nothing. Updated graphics drivers... You guessed it, nothing.

NMS is the only game I'm having trouble with like this, so I don't think it's my PC. Checked my usages while running the game and according to that my GPU (4070)/CPU (ryzen 7700x) are stable with no spikes. I had stuttering issues in the previous updates too but not nearly this bad. It's not even playable anymore.

Anything else I may be able to try?

Why does this game discourage multiplayer? [Question]

I'm not even talking about the bugs from multiplayer or griefing. I'm playing with my friend, and aside from making building farms easier, traveling together just gets in the way. Talking to aliens in the space station, only one of us can, so if we both try, only one of us learns the word. Exotics that land, only one of us can buy (except with some bugs, or that one bug where I got two exotics from the same guy, and the second one was free). Any items you find, the other player can't find. And even warping to other systems, you have to go to the space anomaly to warp out, rather than warping as a group, even using the freighter.

i randomly put in the same glyphs over & over some time back & got here. it said i found it first but has tons of bases, other planets around discovered as well. once i scan the system, i discovered all the planets. i thought it was a glitch, came back time to time to see it was still the same.

How to use coords? [Question]

I'm new here, just explored my second world and just got the hyperdrive in Normal mode. I clicked around online and ran into some spoilers about people exploring neat stuff at specific coordinates.

Like "S Rank Sentinel ship Euclid coords"

I don't know what any of that means but can guess it's a sick ship, and would be nice to just play the game with a nice ship to start.

I'm pretty sure I'm on Euclid galaxy, how do I use coordinates?

My all time favorite planet [Screenshot]

Hey fellow travelers, hope you got your nipnip dose of today.

Last year I found this Little Rock in Euclid an earth like planet 🌎 with ocasional storm. (Which I now love because now I’m able to see the cool waves effect) I named it after my favorite race RTS game home planet, Aiur, which has a similar tropical feel.

By that time I only own NSW version. Then I start looking at awesome screenshots of this beautiful game and start wondering, how gorgeous is this planet in reality.

Few months later with my brand new Lenovo laptop I decide to finally look at this beauty and bought the steam version.

I was amazed by the difference in visual quality and that this planet have really cool places. Since at this time cross save didn’t exist I created a brand new file just to look around, and for my surprise I also found that this planet have settlements.

Then came world update 1 and boy I was afraid that this will become a shithole 💩 and for my luck, nothing, just a massive extinction event that wiped all animals and new ones came to be, one of those animal plants started appearing.

Then second world update came and again I was so afraid of loosing this planet and for my suprise for a second time nothing change, until it got dark, and now we have bioluminescence in the water.

And now in the last patch, this planet also got the fossils thing so there you go.

I told all of this because I feel that I was able to be part of the evolution of this Little Rock , and I wanted you guys all the community (at least one other traveler) to also be part of the evolution. Maybe World part 3 coming and something new will be added hopefully not changing the main caracteristics of Aiur.

So if you got any time to spare come say hi 👋 and I you think is good enough build a small base. Hopefully the storms will give you some heat to wave off the cold of open space....

Well, that happened. [Video]

My Minotaur was bugged out and not letting me enter it. It would turn me invisible and just have me roam around like that endlessly. Used the Roamer to fix myself (and proceed to rebreak myself with my Minotaur a few times XD), and my friend suggested resummoning my Minotaur to fix it. Resummoned it on the porch (to protect the terrain) and tried getting in it again, just for the same thing to happen once more. Fixed myself with my roamer again and returned to the porch - commenting about being unable to move it.

My friend then decided to push it down the stairs to the ground.

I've been playing No Man's Sky for about two months now, with around 130 hours logged so far. I've completed the main storyline, though I still haven't started the Autophage questline yet.

Lately, I've been spending more time just exploring planets, and I'm looking for ways to make that part of the game feel more immersive and meaningful. I’d love to hear how you approach planetary exploration. Do you have any personal rituals or goals when you land on a new world? Do you fully survey planets, focus on lore, base-building, or just roam freely? What makes a planet worth spending time on, for you?

A beginners question [Question]

I’ve just picked up this game and am in love with it already! I just built my first small base and to say how early I am, I have just decoded the “16…16…16” signal.

But I’m discovering a problem with myself that has always been an issue in other games but with an infinite universe such as NMS, is a huge problem.

I’m… a… horder!!!!! Seriously, anything there gets picked up. Any mineral gets mined. But there in is the problem. Inventory space. Even with my spacecraft, everything is full of Sodium, Chromatic Metal, Copper, Ion Batteries etc.

So my question is, when do I get base storage? And until then any hints on inventory management?

Found a great location for a base, but poor LOD distance ruins the view. How can the LOD distance be improved? [Question]

So I've got back into NMS after years away. It's like a whole new game now. Within my first 10 hours I got lucky and scored myself a crashed sentinel ship. I love it, and I'm hooked on the game again.

Finally found a nice lush planet worth placing a base on. I found a trading post on a hill overlooking a lake and looming right behind it is a crashed freighter. Nice view and it seems like a great location for my base.

I was going to place my base on the other side of the lake so I have a good view of the trading post & the crashed freighter. problem is, when I go over there and look back, the freighter quickly disappears from view. Go just a little further, and the trading post disappears as well. It just becomes a bare hill. So disappointing!

I've tried increasing planet detail to ultra, but it doesn't improve this at all. The other settings don't seem to affect LOD distance either. Any other tips to improve it?

Can't access most of my multi-tools on cross save [Bug]

So I'm a new player, I started playing on my Switch, and I've played ~45 hours. Cross save enabled yesterday, so I pulled my old Xbox One out of storage to give it a go on there, since it has better graphics and its included in GamePass.

One small problem - when I resumed my save on the Xbox, the only multitools I can access are the starter multitool and the reward from the Relics expedition that I just finished. My other 3 multitools (including the one that has all my tech installed) are just silhouettes in the menu and I can't select them.

Has anyone else encountered this before, and hopefully knows how to fix it? I tried Googling, but no luck.

Question about freighters [Question]

Recently I discovered I can move all my stuff from a previous freighter to a new one but what happen with slots upgrades do they carry too or not like standard ships? I was always reluctant to get freighter due to the fact that there’s a chance Hello games release an expedition that yields a special/cooler freighter but some redditors told me it’s a huge benefit owning one due to cargo space.

So I am color blind (I see colors but they blend) I have to find a purple galaxy for some materials. Is there any other description to finding them besides being purple?

Graphical artifacts when looking inside teleport on PS5 Pro [Video]

Just checking if this is a problem with the game or with my PS5 pro since getting it lately. I haven’t noticed anything on other games yet.

Sometimes it also happens while teleporting.

Another thing is when on flying on my ship, the blue lines from the back of the jets start juggling instead of being straight lines. I’ll see if I can make a video of that too.

Nexus Freeloading Or Glitch? [Question]

I've noticed this several times where I'll start a mission, and the entirety of the mission I'll be alone. No additional player showing up on the screen. When I return, it'll show that I've been playing in a group. How is this happening? Is this just showing who else is on the same mission or is this a glitch freeloaders are using?

Returning Player, advice needed [Question]

Hello! I used to play the game in 2019/2020 but then just have been playing other games and any time I thought about playing no mans sky i always just didnt like where I was since the game felt like it changed alot.

Well I am wanting a game that I can just take my time and explore however I want. I am wanting to restart but I wanted to know a little bit before I do.

Is it worth restarting? The game has changed alot and I kinda want to start fresh (I was never that far) but I am wandering if I lose any like limited time thing. What setting are best? Do I need to do the tutorial again, has it changed? Is the game in a good state to play.

Mission markers keep switching planets [Bug]

Howdy all. I'm having the bug where three of my missions have their markers switch to a different planet when i get near them. I've tried going through a black hole and ending up a million light years away and resetting the mission. This however just puts the marker back in the same broken spot where it was. Anyone have any fix for this?

Pets won’t continue in a straight line walk anymore? Is anyone else experiencing this? [Question]

Since the last update, my walking pets take a couple of steps, break into a jog for three or four steps and then turn right or left and stop. Sometimes I have to guide them in a complete circle first to even get them to walk forward at all. The just refuse, only turning their head in the direction i want to go. If I sprint, it eventually settles into a straight run.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? It’s pretty annoying. Makes riding pets more trouble than it’s worth.

Trade for a Sandworm Egg? [Question]

I saw a video of someone riding a sandworm that they got from an expedition and it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen…. I have been collecting flying creatures in this game and have a couple I’m breeding to become really large, but now I realize the pinnacle apex creature is no longer available to earn :(

Because of this I wanted to see if anyone had any extras that they would be willing to gift or perhaps trade? The best thing I have to offer is a Royal Ball Exotic that’s white/gold and only has the two small bottom fins! I do have like 10+ different exotic ships too tho if that doesn’t peak your interest! Just plz lmk, I’ve been obsessing over this since I saw the post!! Haha

DFR in VR [Question]

Does No man's sky vr support eye tracked dynamic foveated rendering? Especially for pcvr.

I know pcvr is far behind and lacks support and I know they don't even properly support Fsr or dlss upscaling (which perhaps should be prioritised, especially Fsr up to fsr4. Dlss introduce AI with Dlss4, which by construction works bad in vr because it renders the two images slightly different. In addition Fsr is open source and usable both by amd and Nvidia (or every other gpu you might have)).

However I wanted to know if it works with OpenXr toolkit at least, in case it isn't natively integrated

We can be almost certain that the planets in a solar system aren't millions of units away, so I wondered how the game can fake the scale and still provide a realistic parallax when looking at planets you pass by with the Pulse Engine

Citizens no clipping repeatedly by sitting. [Video]

I was chilling on my settlement, then observed 2 NPCs repeatedly no clippng through the wall by sitting on chairs, back and forth. What was the deal with them?

This glitch can be done by players too, where you can no-clip through a wall, by sitting on your chair, which must be near the wall enough for the sit option to be available from the other side.

Help me get into the game. [Discussion]

Hi. For a while now I've had the game on my library but I never got too far from the initial tutorial. The concept of exploring planets and managing resources seems very appealing to me. However, those first few hours always seem to drag on for a bit too long and I always ended getting busy with something else (life responsibilities or a hot new release dropping).

I need people help me to "sell me on the game". Like what are beginner tips and what to expect (I'm pretty much blind to its contents)? Is the gaming loop fun or is it more of a chore until you reach milestones? What should be stuff I should aim for to better encourage myself to give this game a proper try (give myself goals)?

This is a game that I know I can really enjoy, but I just need to get past that threshold (else I just end up dropping the game like all the other times).

How to build a base without bugging animals and environment effects? [Bug]

This is getting very annoying.

My first base had constant animal breaches by surface-dwelling creatures that bugged through the metal floor, as if they were running through or "swimming" in the ground.

I asked about this phenomenon and was told to always build a foundation for my base. So I did.

My second base had a proper foundation, and thankfully, no more surface-dwelling fauna. Very cool. But then the freezing wind effect started blowing inside my base, even though I had roofs, walls, and everything sealed.

So, for my third base, I built a two-story foundation, figuring that environmental effects wouldn't render that high. But guess what happened.

A freaking flying pufferfish spawned inside my base and left a purple fart trail along its path.

I'm infuriated. I'm starting to feel like that little pig in that tale, except that my bases worth nothing in the aspects of providing the feeling of safety and "home".

Is it even possible to build a base that feels genuinely safe and immersive, away from farting animals and intrusive environmental effects?

The whole point of interior spaces is ruined by these bugs. I had to delete three bases because it is so annoying to see wild animals and cold wind blowing inside my HOME.

Is there a real solution?

Expedition 18: Relics - advice for if you clone your ship [Suggestion]

If you're staring the Relics expedition from an existing game (sign up in the Anomaly) and want to clone your existing ship...

You can make your life much easier if you bring along at least 250 Indium, 200 Atlantideum, and 1 Living Glass. If you don't, you'll be spending a lot of tedious time getting them before you can progress very far.

Atlas Multi-tool [Question]

I found an S class Atlas multi-tool at a Korvax Monolith and claimed it out of excitement but I then realised I hadn't checked the other variants available in the system and discovered reloading on another planet gave me one that I liked better. Will I be able to use the S class monolith again after a week? Or will I never be able to claim from that monolith ever again 😢

Terrain manipulator tunneling [Information]

TIL if I’m lost in a tunnel of my own making, I can just switch the terrain manipulator mode to the “Restore” setting and suddenly my interloper is forcibly ejected through the layers of dirt and into the open air again!

I would urge caution when using this method, however, as you can emerge from the side of very steep hills and immediately begin falling to your doom.

Is it possible to prevent a friend's friends from doing a group? [Question]

My friend I play with doesn't like playing with people who they don't know in real life, and I've had a couple times where someone I play with joins without warning. Is there a way to prevent this only when I'm playing with them? More accurately, if my friend sets their settings to invite only and is the group leader, will that prevent my friends from joining even when my settings still say anyone can join?

I don't want to have to change my settings every time we play if possible.

This is in regards to ATLAS and The Purge mission. I am relatively new to NMS (20h+), and decided to try and finish the Artemis story. Before any of you comment; i have tried to read me up on the lore, checked wikis in regards of the ending, but any of this doesn't seem to add up with what i experienced.

When i met ATLAS for the first time i decided not to reset and ask it if it is anything else i could do, after that it sent me to another planet. Before that happened though, while my screen were fading to white, i was able to speak to ATLAS right before it sent me back, and recieved the Remembrance. didn't think much of it then though.

Fast forward to the 16/16 mission, where i met the ATLAS for the last time, where it again asked me if i wanted to reset or do a personality initiasion. I chose the latter, and ATLAS were going to choose if i was going to die or live based on the fates of Artemis and Apollo. (In my case, Artemis lived in the simulation while Apollo died trying to go through the portal to ATLAS, and i got saved.) Again the screen was fading to white and i could still speak to ATLAS. One important note there; because i recieved the Remembrance during the first meeting, i was in the middle of doing the other ATLAS quest, which had me visiting different ATLAS stations and getting better types of Remembrances(?) and i could still do that mission once i went back.

Now i got The Purge mission and it tells me to go to the centre of the universe, and my question really is; did a glitch happen or is this one of the "Endings" you could get? I am genuinely confused because now i have the purge mission while having the Remembrance, and i honestly don't know how i am supposed to get to the centre of the universe and get to another universe, or if this is extremely based and the way the game is. No grave marker after ship is destroyed? [Question]

I was in a space battle above my home planet and my ship was basically destroyed. I then spawned on planet with my ship damaged but empty ship inventory. I read I should receive a grave marker but there isn't and I have no idea how to find where I would've been. I'm playing on normal

I don’t post here (or anywhere else on reddit except for rare occasions) so I’m not sure I used the right flair apologies.

I was in the Space Anomaly and someone gave me 50 Starship AI Valves. I didn’t know what they were and didn’t think about it so I thanked them, gave a few expansion modules I had lying around and left. Only when I got back to my freighter that I found out I ESSENTIALLY JUST GOT GIVEN 600,000,000 UNITS. I went back to try and thank them but they were gone. For all that I should have given them everything I had.

So if you’re in this sub, ‘DeathbyBarbieXO’ thank you so much, I can’t possibly cash all this in but thank you.

Old expedition items. [Question]

I was woundering do they bring back expedition items? Was looking at making a hauler and while doing so found out the stealth pain is locked inside one from the past. So was woundering if they re-run em or am I just out of luck? Also is there a way outside the story line to get the iron vulture cockpit?

Not sure if this is a bug? Ships refuse to land (boundary failure storms) [Bug]

Pc/steam/normal mode.

During anomaly event storms (gravity), ships apparently refuse to land. I've seen them glitch like this before without gravity storms, not sure if this is a bug or how it's supposed to be. I've encountered it multiple times now and while checking for exotic ships notice they land fine when the storm clears. But when it storms, no ships land.

Makes it super fun for ship hunting. /s Apparently the ridiculous visual impairment of storms wasn't bad enough. Likely appears this way because I have storm distortion reduced to the lowest (35%) in normal mode. What doesn't make sense I've been on failing boundary planets before and ships have landed just fine.

A Late Realization [Information]

633.6 hours on file, apparently, and I just had my "XXXXX hours on file and I just discovered this feature" moment.

I play on PC and always struggled with the galaxy map. Sometimes the camera would be at just the wrong angle so the planetary orbits all merged into one singular line so I couldn't tell how many planets there were in a system. I would right click to deselect and try to approach it from a few different angles.

Well, turns out you can still use WASD controls to pan around the system, plus Q and E to change the angle. Gone are the days of squinting at flat discs to try and divine how many planets I'll be colliding with. Sharing this as Information in case anyone else was so afflicted as I.

Paradise Planet Poop Production Plant! [Information]

I was bored one night, enjoying some fine Aldebaran nip-nip, and I thought it would be funny to make a shit factory on a beautiful planet in a galaxy far, far away... like, 42 I think...

Anyway, I'm sure plenty of you are thinking "Big deal, I have a farm with some faecium growing, a few biodomes of it in fact..."

GRAH! YOU SHAME THE ANCESTORS INTERLOPER!

I went and did a proper survey job on a gorgeous glowing grass planet with perfect weather, interesting, flora and rare fauna... I then took an hour or so to find the perfect "trifecta spot" with electromagnetic power, and an oxygen and nitrogen deposit all within 1000u or so.

That's where I built my flagrantly fragrant faecium FACTORY. With 10k Oxygen and 20k Nitrogen in the supply depots next to a set of refiners.

Not sure what I'm going on about? Well Timmy, if you combine oxygen and nitrogen in a refiner you will get sulphurine. If you then combine that sulphurine with nitrogen in a refiner you'll get that sweet 'n steamy golden faeci!

Is it actually more efficient or productive than having 20 biodomes full of faecium? Honestly, who gives a shit?!

Well... actually I do, so I'll see you at the anomaly and if you are nice, I'll definitely give you some shit!

Freighter upgrade module nexus mission crashes? [Bug]

I’m just trying to get the matter beam…

but I’ve only managed to get two upgrade modules because literally every nexus mission with one as a reward crashes or hangs, and I have to reload and get plopped right back on the anomaly without nothing to show for it.

I swear I’ve missed out on like six of them so far because of it and it’s so frustrating, I’m like 120 hours in and still haven’t unlocked any of the tech tree and only the main rooms.

I’m writing this as I infinitely warp to nowhere in an attempt to get a frigate module. There were TWO missions that had an upgrade mod as a reward… I’ll bet my starship there won’t be a single one when I reload…

Any way I can get rid of the injury or death sounds? [Question]

I'm actually not that far into NMS, but so far the game is great! Just got uh... one teensy problem. Gore noises squick me out a lot, and from what I can tell the injury and death sounds have said gore noises. I have not died yet, but I'm playing really safe to avoid these and I would like to be able to stop having to fear everything and start taking some better risks and having fun. Thanks!

Everywhere is a Derelict. [Bug]

I am in the most recent expedition and I am sure that someone else has had this issue recently. My mission destinations keep being under or inside of derelict freighters that are somehow intersecting the planet. Is there a proposed fix to this that I am missing? I would rather not believe that this was the intended experience. You cannot use your jetpack and the ground suddenly turns to angles unfeasable for walking

Finally found it… while on expedition 🙃 Is there a way to transfer? [Question]

I’ve been putting off ending my expedition I started from my main. I had already found an A class pirate freighter, which I was really happy with but then I ran into this guy tonight. This was just over 10k light years from the expedition start towards the core.

The glyphs are in the screenshot of my guy looking all happy about his find. Don’t tell him he only two weeks to live 😅

I’m pretty sure there’s no way to transfer him to my main but I’m open to creative ideas.

Show current item count while buying [Question]

When interacting with traders or the terminal, I would like to see the current stock of the item I am about to buy, so that I can assess whether I need more of that or am good.

Is there a setting or upgrade that helps me do that and I am just too blind to find it?

All the Dialogue is Nonsense [Discussion]

At first I thought it would just be the NPCs. I forgave that because for alien races communicating could sound a bit jumbled.

Deadliest planet [Question]

Usually a lot of players try to find the perfect Earth-like planet. For me and for no particular reason (other than making survival really difficult and frustrating.), I'm looking for coords of some of the most nightmarish plantes in the game.

I've been on some nasty planets, though im looking for something special. Something like a worm infested, extreme planet in a hostile/pirate system, where attacks from the sky keep happening. Where storms are commonly followed by extreme wind events that usually means being thrown to ground too hard. Moreover, all, or nearly all animals are hostile and sentinels are aggressive as well. Even the terrain being hellish, like hazerdous flora galore in tall grass so you can't see them, or smaller animals. All mountainous terrain, or just troublesome to traverse. Lastly the color filter of the planet's atmosphere is monochromatic, making hings even harder to see.

Stuff like that. Like finding a paradise planet, it's hard to find one plant that hits all the right notes. Any ideas?

A word of advice for expeditions [Suggestion]

I just finished up my first expedition and was super excited to transfer all my sick loot back to my main save... Except I found out the hard way that if YOU DONT START THE EXPEDITION FROM THE EXPEDITION TERMINAL in your main save you can't transfer items back to the main save. It just converts your expedition save into a normal save. So that's great... Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.

How to get to centre of galaxy [Question]

Hi fellow travelers,

I am looking to get to the centre of the galaxy. I did not went through it, I cant seem to remember.

the mission log says by The space anomaly: Explore the new reality, Atlas eternal: Find a wonder to show to atlas and New beginnings: the universe is yours to explore.

Did I already went through the centre? I remember that I once went through a portal but not what comes after it. I tried getting to a portal again but no succes. I dfollow monolith guides to the T and not a portal in sight, even with the species relics to give. I only get the "get this weapon" line and when I get it, and I speak to it again, it says: The song is now sung and I can only accept that. Can someone help me further? Sorry if its unclear. My English is not very well.

I feel like this is pretty damn rare… meanwhile I can’t find the wing I want for normal ol’ fighter [Screenshot]

I got all 3 in the pic just to look cool. The one on the left is mine, then I bought the one on the right, right as I bought it here comes another Exotic.

My friend wanted to try this game out so I started a new save to begin with him and because it had been YEARS since I played.

In my old save I have over 200 hours and only ever found 1 Exotic. This save.. I’m 30 hours in and have 3 of them (Also got the squid). Meanwhile I’ve been spending ALOTTTT of time system hopping and can’t find the wing I want for my fighter. I don’t even want these Exotics XD like they are my least favorite 2 Exotics, I know there are only 4 but there is a big gap between the Royal/Guppy and the other two.

Glass Omnifarm [Build]

I built a base on a fractured moon with silos connected to four resource farms: gold, quartzite, cobalt, and oxygen. There're also a couple biodomes of frostwort, in keeping with the theme. Feel free to stop by and take what you need. There's a bug, on my end at least, that causes the supply depots to never go empty when you take from them, even though you get the items. Basically an endless supply. Lemme know if it happens for you too.

Never Ceases to Amaze [Information]

A little context here..... I've been playing NMS forever now. And yes we all have our games that we also play once in awhile but NMS is my goto. So I've got 5 saves, one for my kids. One that should prolly be deleted....my main save.... Point is....I love the game. I play on my Xseries cause I need the couch for my body to feel comfortable in my later years. I decided to FINALLY do a Permadeath run. No quick get to the center crap....cause in my day you had to walk uphill 3 miles to school and back with a back pack weighing 50lbs in the snow. And I figure, I know this game better than the back of my hand, this shouldn't be that bad. Yeah.....this is rough. That first 30 minutes...on an ice planet. No nothing. Desperately looking for a cave or an overhang cause you're about to die from frostbite. Praying you make it to get the Hermetic Seal in time cause you just heard the dreaded "Incoming Storm" Point is...... I love this game. I hope it goes on forever. And I can't be more thankfull to Sean and the creators and to Hello Games for staying the course and giving us something like this that we can consistently experience in a new way.

this really really sucks. [Bug]

Im a keep inventory player and I died on a planet that was 417 celsius. My xbox then died due to power outage ( ice storm at my place) and when I logged back on it was all gone. I went to my setting to make sure I was on keep inventory and I was. I have sc. I reloaded my save to a previous point and the farthest I could go was the moment after I died. I had max inventory of ship parts I had grinded for for about a month and a bit now. Does ANYONE have an idea on how to help me?

First time playing, questions about ships [Question]

It's like so much content is so overwhelminggg, I am not following any guides, so I am sorry for my ignorance.

I found 3 abandoned ships, one i destroyed it and sold the parts/scraps, the other two are broken and i dont have enough resources to fix it, they are better than my main one, but the resources are out of my reach for the moment, my question is : is it worth more to repair ships or I should sold the parts for profit is better in the long run?

It's been really hard to manage resources, so i am really wondering if i should just hoard them and let the ships rust while i try to collect more resources...

Any beginner tips are appreciated :)

Entry #1 for the NMSTG Hub Hunt / System Liberwich / 6 planets total / two “perfect” planets with no storms [NMSTG Hub Hunt]

My main planet in the system is Yelsha. Amazing view of the 5 other planets in the sky along with lakes, oceans and mountains.

Esak I also has no storms with more flat land with lakes and oceans. A nice alternative.

The other planets include a grassy planet but with aggressive sentinels and heat storms. A radioactive planet and 2 dead planets. 708,018 Light Years from the center.

4700 LY, 6 hr, Balanced Expedition; All 5 Organtic, S-class Frigates; Zero Corrupted Loops/Eggs [Question]

Yeah, I'm either a little confused or a little bummed out. Are psychonic eggs & sacks just 100% random without any way to influence? Is there a way to influence the drop rate that I'm missing? Was there a recent nerf to the rate or is there a bug I haven't heard of?

Seems like I was seeing a lot of organic drops when I only had my first couple organic frigates. Since I've been building my organic fleet, drops have been really scarce. Just bad luck, I guess.

I haven’t seen a Salvaged Frigate Module for weeks. None at crashed freighter sites, none as Space Station or Nexus mission rewards, none on Derelict Freights (just done 4 in a row).

I have been exploring systems relatively close together, so does the galaxy sector affect SFM drop rates? If not, does anyone know what does?

Site searching PITA [Discussion]

When I was just starting out in NMS, the offset site markers were kinda cutesy. Now, after 1600+ hours in the game I'm so over it. Just put a GD marker where the site is, please. Arriving in the dark during a storm is a PITA at the best of times, but having to trudge around trying to find the place on near vertical cliffs makes it so much worse. Grumble.

Advice for completing the story [Question]

So I’ve gone through most of the main story and I’m at the quest where it tells me to throw myself into the center of the galaxy. It gave me an option to keep exploring and I’m wondering if I should complete the story or if I should keep doing other things. Will the game end when I do? And if not what will happen after? I haven’t started the 16 jump journey thing yet.

Search for freighter [Question]

I found a guide on this subreddit from seven years ago, that describes how to get a good first freighter for free. The guide was written by u/Pyrogoat, who by now seems not to be active anymore. Cannot do expedition [Bug]

Hi all, Trying to run the current expedition and there is a derelict freighter directly above the location I am supposed to go to join the galactic palaeology society. When I land on the planet, the gravity is wrong and the marker only shows me the marker to start the freighter, and not the quest. Is there any way I can fix this to be able to complete the quest? Currently seems impossible. I appreciate any help.

I did run the derelict freighter but that has not helped

Proposal: Freighter Planetary Probe uplink from Starship [Suggestion]

I love that we can survey a whole system from our freighter, but I prefer to warp between systems with my living ship, since it's vastly more fuel efficient (a few chromatic metal, vs. a whole warp cell). It's tedious to warp, then summon the freighter, dock to the freighter, run to the Planetary Probe, run back to the docking bay, then take off again. I suggest an uplink device that can be slotted in your starship or living ship, which interfaces with your nearby freighter in order to conduct a Planetary Probe. It could be purchasable with nanites at the Anomaly, and/or unlocked via a quest. For those of us who explore tons of star systems, it would be a significant quality of life improvement.

Hiii I recently started playing NMS after watching a tiktok saying they wanted to add AI into the game, I had to search it up. I didn’t even know what NMS was a month ago and now I’m hooked. Permadeath [Discussion]

I just got to the center on my first run which was on survival. I wasn't attached to the save since I feel like I did a few things out of order (used a C class freighter, ground through all the base overseer stuff after unlocking everything before hand). Anyway, being a completionist, I wanted to jump into a permadeath and it took me an hour or so to die. So I thought to survey ways to die from both runs. The permadeath death was when getting stuff out of a crashed freighter, I got low on radiation protection, but I didn't see how to charge it since it was full on toxin protection. Or maybe I couldn't get to the right menu on time? This was at the start, so just the first level of hazard protection.

The survival run deaths I will look to avoid: Quads shooting through building floor Abyssal Horror (the first couple glitched underground so when one was above ground I was dead)

Then there's some dumb deaths being a beginner Not knowing how to auto target on pirate fighter fights Unessentially aggravating some predator who attacked by surprise (otherwise I never saw a predator) Not knowing where to go on pirate frigate fight

Anything else to avoid loosing some hours?

PvP Killed During Relics Expedition - Permanently lost all items I'd collected during my first derelict freighter. Can you fix a broken quest when the items are unchecked after dying? [NMSTG Hub Hunt]

New player here, I haven't completed an expedition before. I'd started relic's for a couple of hours collecting the base materials to progress through the game. I stumbled upon my first derelict freighter and explored through finding my first two quest items.

There was a player camping out on the bottom level afk. I'd almost completed the mission when they start burning me with their mining beam. I had no idea pvp was possible, you as a player can't even harm NPC's so didn't think players would be able to. I didn't know react and after an embarrassingly long time of hiding behind objects in reduced movement I died.

Anyway to the point, I turned pvp off (which I'm now aware off) and went back to my grave icon. Watched the guy try to burn me for 2 minutes again then collected my items. The only problem was my two quest items I'd already found were unchecked on the mission. I found the last one but was then unable to complete it. I stored them in my starship to try be given them again and even destroyed them in case it was I couldn't have two of them. No luck.

Out of frustration I loaded my oldest save to try start again before this greifer but that was on the space station after my death. Worse yet the derelict freighter and my grave icon disapeared losing me everything I had until that point. It's my first week of playing and I've only had good experinces with other players until this point. I am usually exclusive to single player as I get anxious with other people. Does Hello Games have a feature to report players in game?

Also if a quest breaks like this, is there a way to fix it without reloading an older save? It was really bugging my OCD permanently having a quest I couldn't abandon or complete.

Last Galaxy + 1 [Screenshot]

I’ve done most of the things and have upgraded everything about as much as I have the patience to grind.

My latest hobby has been to go to the anomaly and see what base has the highest numbered galaxy I can find in the portal. I then visit their base, explore a bit, and set up camp. I think my highest galaxy number was 90.

I had the idea that I’d like to get to the last galaxy before it wraps back to Euclid, and set up my biggest base there. Was planning on eventually doing a portal/jump/portal/jump loop from wherever I got to from community bases.

Well, I just was using a teleporter at a random space station, and noticed there were some user bases there with galaxies I didn’t recognize. Looked them up… various numbers. Then: “Odyalutai”. What’s that? 256??? I thought it only went up to 0xFF, or 255? (Also, I didn’t realize space stations could have user bases, I thought it was just the anomaly?)

Read the wiki. It’s apparently a bit of an orphaned galaxy you can’t get to anymore without teleporting if you haven’t been there before.

Naturally, I had to visit the base. Thanks, Paradox, or whatever your name was.

Nothing really there. Shitty stormy planet.

Found a portal so I could get towards the center, and did all jellyfish to get center-ish. “Error… approximating location…”

Went through, and was created by a sea of comm stations. “Hello from South Africa!” “Made it!” Etc.

Made me absurdly happy. Reminded me of some of my urbex adventures where I’d discover an amazing huge mural in a tunnel deep under the city.

Anyway. Now, to find a planet, and build.

Base height/depth question [Question]

I'm a newbie and have learned that on the suface, the radius of a base is 300u (though it can be extended temporarily). Does the same apply to vertical? How far up/down can you go before you can't build anymore?

I'm mainly considering this for underwater + ocean surface combination, wondering about how deep water is feasible. If I plop the base computer down at the deepest possible ocean, it'll take a lot of cuboid room frames to build anything on surface, but it could be really cool to have something at both depths/heights, and SRTP to move between them.

Double Jeopardy [Screenshot]

I landed on a new planet and not two minutes later I got a warning about a localized electric disturbance. No problem, I've been through those before.

Two seconds later I got a warning about an incoming meteor storm. I spend the next 5 or 10 minutes running around like an idiot trying to avoid both.

The oddest thing is that I spent quite a long time on that world (trying to find that last rare creature) and neither one of those things ever happened again.

Just got my first living ship… [Discussion]

Just got my first living ship. Obtained from the egg you can get with quicksilver on the anomaly. But now I got it, it seems I have to get a living freighter, or be damn lucky pulsing, to even get an upgrade… Am I correct on this? Or is there another way to obtain organic parts that can be incorporated into a living starship? Do I have to wait for my regular freighter outings to find an egg or something?

I made a faecium factory (not just a farm) in this weekends nexus mission system. It's the Paradise Planet Poo Production Plant on the verdant planet. Take all you want, we'll make more! [Build]

There's a 10k depot of oxygen and a 20k depot of nitrogen.

Combine 10k oxygen and 10k nitrogen to get 10k sulphurine...

Then take that 10k of suplhurine and mix it with the remaining 10k of nitrogen and you'll get 10k of some fresh and steamy!

There's also 6 biodomes in back if you need to take a shit right away.

Can you copy or re-acquire expedition multitool? [Question]

Context: I found my first pre-quest line autophage camp and IMMEDIATELY acquired the sentinel multitool without paying attention to the words in the collect button or how many tools I had active. Because of that I swapped the expedition 18 multitool (the deer skull) without paying attention. Is there any way I can get it back outside of a restore/autosave? I tried that but when I realized it both save points were already updated past the swap

Game mode differences [Question]

So I obviously get the main differences between normal, relaxed and creative like survival and resource management. But I’m wondering is there and fundamental game changes between the modes? I have a save on normal as well as creative. Both of which have some custom settings applied.I prefer playing on my creative save just because I don’t have to worry about fuel and can really spend my time upgrading cosmetic wise and exploring. My question is do creative modes not have all the same missions or anything like that? Is there any game content I’m missing out on ?

Exotic Problems [Discussion]

Ok.....so here's what's happening...... I'm on my first Permadeath run.... It's not going terribly. But I've had a few really close calls in some space battles...... So I say to myself.....self....we're getting a better ship. And what's the best way to get a better ship of you're broke..... In my opinion it's Dissonance . Now obviously this is debatable....but i do it anyway. Mind you, im not very geared up yet and I like to live life on the edge. Anyway....i get my first ship...its a C..... So I fly it to the station and sell it..... It happens to be a Hauler one and they give you like 20 mil. I come back to the landing areas and there she is....an S class exotic. We all know the ones.....bubble, tall fin...long straight spear for a nose. Race car red and yellow highlights. I'm excited and hoping i have enough. I don't. It's 36 mill Ok. No big deal. I just have to get one more dissonance and I'm good. Turns out the second one of find is an A class....which if I hadn't of seen the exotic, I'd be tempted to take. But, i sell it anyway....and now I'm waiting for the exotic to reappear. It's not a first wave exotic. So I know it's a dice roll as to when it will reappear. The thing is....which will work better....waiting for it to appear by reloading the save....or creating a new save by jumping in my ship and the reloading the save point?

Navigation Data in Abandoned? [Question]

So I decided to start a permadeath save in abandoned mode. I’ve plowed through everything, got the Atlantid Drive, found a relatively decent Multitool, and ship. Currently my Base Computer is just sending me on radiant quests. It seems like the game is done babysitting me at this point.

Is there any use for Navigation Data? I usually go ship hunting with them, but as far as I can tell there’s nowhere to trade them in.

Also, is there anywhere to find upgrades for the Minotaur? I need the cannon to do better damage.

One more for good luck, will I ever get a freighter? I assume no, since they need to be piloted.

Tip for Harvesting Ore Deposits via Terrain Manipulator [Information]

Basically, if you use the r/T keys to lower/increase the size of the mining radius, it will not change the rate at which resources are mined. Therefore, mining an ore deposit at the smallest terrain manipulator setting will yield MUCH more resources than doing it at the default size setting. This can allow to get a decent amount of resources from a relatively small ore deposit. Also note that it's boring as hell cuz of how long it takes but you can decide where time or resources is more important to you.

Travellers, I must apologize for my lack of reports since we found the Shrine of Worlds' End. Found Persephone. It has been... much to process. I have spent much time with her, but she has changed. She no longer speaks, not as we do. She communicates now through thought, through a knowing and calming presence. The secrets of the universe at her fingertips, and yet unable to share them. Unable to even leave the Shrine. I do not know the power that saved her... the power of these... Keepers, but I am thankful to them for saving her, even if she remains bound to The Shrine in this form.

Still, in spite of all of this, I sense my presence brings her comfort, as hers does to me. I will visit her, as often as possible. I hope, at least, that she is at peace in the sacred place she yearned so deeply to find.

We, however, have other affairs we must consider. I hoped the Shrine would give us answers, at least a lead to follow. But the answers we have found are dire, and more questions remain now than ever. Why did the Praetorians come here? What did they take? Why do they want it? Or want to keep it from us?

The one who attacked Persephone, nearly ended her completely, nothing of its like has been seen before. The sheer power... the terrible, unkown purpose, the first recorded direct attack on Traveller-kind... Traveller, I fear the stakes of this investigation are far, far higher than any of us knew.

A sobering reminder that this universe is vast, infinite, with secrets older than time itself... wonders and terrors beyond imagining in the darkness between the stars...

We cannot let this stop us. We MUST find answers. For our safety. For Persephone. Possibly for all that breathes in these stars...

When you first start and doing the little missions to fix your ship, and then take off. Is it the same set of planets for everyone at the start? And then you just eventually find new ones? I just found an "undiscovered" planet and named it Northern Territory (Aussie here, and the NT is mainly a desert) and this planet was pure desert. Just wondering would another user find Northern Territory?

Ability to Add/Create Space Station and Trade for Uncharted/Undiscovered Systems [Suggestion]

The title pretty much sums up the idea and I doubt I’m the first one, but I jumped into an uncharted, pretty much non-sentient system last night and realized there was no space station there. I know that it’s by design, but I was thinking of how cool it would be to take on the task of creating a space station, creating it’s design and colors from a pre-selected list of pieces and shapes, establishing a trade outpost, selecting what species is dominant there, working up to making it a T3 economy/abandoning the SS/letting it crumble into an outlaw system. I’m sure the resources and development for that would require a massive overhaul of the current state of the game but maybe one day? I just love the idea of being able to look at a space station that you hand crafted and welcoming all travelers to tell the story of your first colossal structure :) thank you for reading, have a great night!

Changing systems while pulsing. [Question]

I used a picture of glyphs/coordinates for living frigates. After I put the glyphs in the portal leave the planet in the new system, I check the glyphs again and they are correct. After some time pulsing the glyphs just change. To my knowledge it is not possible to leave a system with pulse engine. Why is this happening to me?

How expeditions work [Question]

Generally, I'm wondering how getting rewards from expeditions works. If I have a save with an expedition, can I still get rewards and do tasks after the time runs out? If so, is it possible to download someone's expedition save from for example a year ago?

Stranded myself [Suggestion]

Well, looks like I've completely stranded myself.

So, I'm playing permadeath/survival. I wanted the trophies for getting to the center of the galaxy.

I did it on the cheap, so I only had 1 A-Class Sentinel ship that I've been using, plus one junker salvage ship with all the pieces still broken, except for launchers and pulse.

Well, you know what happens when you go to the center. All your stuff breaks. I didn't realize the sentinel ships needed corrupted sentinel parts to repair. No big deal, I'll just use the junker ship, get to the space station, trade it for a decent ship, fly to a dissonant planet and farm parts.

So, the first corrupted planet I find is an airless moon. This should be easier. So, wander around, farm up some parts, call down my sentinel ship and do some repairs. I go to call down my other ship and... not enough launcher fuel. I don't know where my other ship is. I'm an idiot.

I don't have the part to fix my sentinel ship (brain) because there's no harmonic camps on the airless moon.

So, I am stranded with a broken ship on an airless moon deep in space. I guess I can wander aimlessly and hope I run into my other ship. It's really my only option now.

No mans sky was ahead of its time. [Discussion]

Back in 2016 i was so thrilled to play cool arcade shooters like BF1, CoD, Borderlands or even action adventures like GTA, Dark Souls etc. NMS had big goals but after release it looked.....boring. Like wtf am i gonna do here? Almost a decade later i realize i didnt even do many of the new contents in the game and just relaxed and spent 300 hours in the game.

While it does sound kind of boring but its also a different kind of fun to just explore unknown worlds without restrictions. Something i or many others wouldnt do a decade ago. Also im not too old. Im in my mid 20s. But ive been a gamer since early 2000s. NMS definately has a bigger place in 2025 than in 2016. Even if you dont do many recent contents.

Weird encounter with a sentinel interceptor. [Question]

Hello everyone! I just started No Man's Sky a couple of days ago and I know I'm yet to discover a lot of things.

I fought some sentinel drones, some pirates, but never a sentinel interceptor ship. I didn't even knew they exist. I did all of the above with my first ship.

At some point I went wondering through space and something weird happened... a Sentinel Interceptor ship CAME to me. It wasn't aggressive at all. It tried to communicate but couldn't get the message. I've been given 3 choices: Fire it down, try to respond or simply wait. I tried to communicate with it but the signal got off. My avatar said it was weird as it wasn't hostile, it seemed somehow lost. After the communication signal got off, it just disappeared, went landing on a planet and sent me coordinates to follow it.

I went to the planet, found it and fixed it. Now it's mine.

My first thought was that it's a living ship. Seems it's not. I looked all over the internet and spoke with Chat gbt. Even chatgbt said it's a very weird encounter and very unusual for sentinel ships.

Did anyone encounter them in a similar way? Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior? Thank you!

I have a suggestion for the game: elemental scooters for spacecraft. [Suggestion]

It’s exactly as it sounds; I tend to ram straight through an asteroid field to get tritium instead of shooting at the individual rocks. My suggestion is a scooper for the front of a spacecraft that can collect space minerals or pockets of gas and load it straight into the ship inventory. It could also be only specific to certain types of spaceships like HAULERS. The upgrade should be a pretty high-level upgrade, that takes quite a bit of refining to create.

Another suggestion for the game: a massive planetside landing dock for the freighter. The freighter itself could become a giant homebase that has to be launched in order to be used. The amount of fuel to takeoff could be greatly increased, depending on the size and class of the freighter. [Suggestion]

When the freighter lands, it could let down descending catwalks or stairs that allow you to traverse in and out of it, and let your crew get out and leave the ship. You have to do an all call alarm to have the crew recalled when it’s time to launch, and can pick up new crew if you land near a settlement or station.

When you land, you could have the option to refill your freighter at the dock and have your crew maintain it or unload material. To build the landing pad, it should be in the hundreds of thousands of materials with some fairly advanced materials needed. The needs of your crew could be met by landing near a settlement with resources or amenities. A happy, well stocked crew could add bonuses and buffs to freighter travel. An angry, sober crew could cause the shipped to degrade and have penalties for fuel usage and other things.

Think of it like the Starship Enterprise, where people can go on shore leave when in low orbit of a planet. You want your crew to be comfortable, and your ship will flourish because of it. I think all of these things would add a lot more dimension to freight or travel, rather than making it just a vehicle.

It's a new one on me - not sure how they did sewing in the Euclid galaxy, but I'm pretty sure my grandmother, a quilter who won the best in competition ribbon at every fair she entered her stuff in, never used a shovel.

Cannot complete ‘Master of Bones’ under any circumstances [Bug]

As title says, will not allow me to complete. The Paleontology Club icon is not present on the planet, and talking to the Gek representative just acts like a normal Gek.

I have tried reinstalling the game, validating files, emptying my inventory and getting a new skeleton, joining a friend’s game, and pretty much anything else I could think of. Zero fixes. Currently unable to complete this Expedition.

Can I contact Hello Games customer support for this?

Do planets/Star systems generate only by the time I enter them for the first time or were they generated before? [Question]

I haven't played my save file for a long time. The reason why I'm asking is because I would like to see some new worlds that are using the newest "Worlds update" generative environment.

So I wonder if I simply warp to the next system, will I get the new "World update" kind of planets there?

Or in the worst case scenario, do I need to start a completely new save to get these worlds?

Is a Nitrogen Extraction Farm Worth It? (Already Have Oxygen Farm) [Question]

Yesterday I found a Class A nitrogen extraction hotspot and I'm thinking whether to set up a farm there. I already have an oxygen farm producing about 40k oxygen daily, which has been super profitable (I refine it into chlorine and sell it).

For those with nitrogen farms - is it worth the effort? What valuable products can I make with nitrogen that would make this a worthwhile investment? Looking for tips on what to craft/refine with it that would give good returns?

Finding specific fossils trouble. [Question]

I’ve been hunting fossils since the start of the expedition and I still haven’t found 5 according to my wonders catalogue. Looks like I’m missing 2 skulls and 3 tails. Is it random what you find and I just need to keep hunting? Or are certain fossils found easier in certain places?

Freighter Blueprint Disappeared [Bug]

I finally upgraded to the plasmatic injector blueprint (that gives you 300ly boost), it briefly popped up a quest box but after I crafted the materials for it, it's no where to be found. The blueprint shows as already found in my catalogue, but no quest to be found in logs, no ability to craft the blueprint in freighter. Any idea where I went wrong?

Base building help [Question]

I've seen so many beautiful bases on this subreddit and in-game, and I really want to spend some time building up my own bases but I have so much trouble aligning things. I've watched some tutorials about snap points and some of the things you can do to make interesting structures. The problems I have are more with decoration items that don't seem to snap. How do you all make sure decoration items are lined up and properly squared? My builds are full of slightly crooked pieces and it drives me crazy.

I've had an A-class Venator for a really long time and never tried to farm an S because it seemed good enough, I was happy with it, and I just couldn't be bothered. I always figured if I happened to stumble on an S-class freighter by random luck, I'd grab it then.

Well, it happened. On a whim I was checking out the featured base in Kikolgallr from the Anomaly teleporter and wanted to find an undiscovered system to drop a foothold base in the galaxy. I warped to a black hole system, jumped through, and there was my new freighter.

Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket today.

Update on missing purple systems [Bug]

I still cant see them, but i found a thing thats interesting, if your friend has them, and you join on them, it will send you to the nearest available system, and you cant anomoly out to them. If your in the galaxy map and you look hard enough when the camera moves, a tiny dot where the system should me, makes a small line showing where its supposed to be. Im not sure if i should send in another bug report since i already laid one out, but i figured i should share.

Do capital ships have multiple crews? [Question]

My freighter has been in orbit above my settlement for weeks, and I notice that sometimes the keel is facing toward the planet, and sometimes it's facing out into space. When the keel is facing toward the planet my navigator is Posjon, but when the keel is facing away from the planet it's Navigator Ukkef.

What is going on? Is it normal to have two different crew on your freighter? I only noticed it recently, and there's no obvious pattern to when I'll get one or the other. It's like there's a glitch in the matrix 🤷‍♂️

Minotaur question! [Bug]

Hey Travellers!! I've just noticed something regarding the Minotaur... not game breaking, but I feel certainly an immersion "issue". Now, I did have some S tier engine modules (that I've now taken off along with the Icarus module).. and I've walked and jumped around a fair bit.. but the fuel level hardly even moves...

I know things like starship fuels and the like can deplete pretty quickly.. but why not the Minotaur fuel?!

Any advice for someone returning to the game after 3 years? [Discussion]

Hey all, I've added about 8 hours to my total playtime since returning to the game after a 3-year hiatus. A lot has changed, but a lot is the same, but I'm finding it challenging to truly get 'back into it'.

I attribute it to being overwhelmed by the changes introduced in large updates over the years. Most of my old bases are now total crap with some on incredibly volatile planets, with anomalous behaviour to add... man the planet variety is amazing now. Still, I'm not massively looking forward to relocating all the infrastructure I had before. The thought of this mixed in with other minor anxieties, like realising my credit printing facilities no longer worked well with Activated Indrium :( I would love to get back into the game properly and head back out, but I'm completely lacking any purpose.

I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience with NMS or other games and how they overcame it so they could enjoy it again.

After resetting the planet I can’t find my ship [Question]

Well… title says it and I feel like a moron right now 🙃 I reset with the atlas and went to the Halcyon galaxy. I used my good ship, my good multitool etc and it’s all trashed now 😓 the ship I had was a sentinel so it needed an inverted mirror etc and I knew it’d take a minute to fix, so I walked around a bit and came across a traveler and bought their ship so I could move around easier… well, now my ship is gone. I set up a base near where it was so I would be able to find it easier and it’s simply not there. Am I just screwed and that ship is gone to the abyss? 😩

Found the same crashed ship 3 times only 10 hours into a new game save. [Discussion]

So I decided to start a survival game in abandoned mode. Not too far from where I started I found a building that sent me to a crashed C class fighter with one SC slot. Decided to hang on to it since it would be better than the started ship once repaired. Several more hours into the new save I found another building on the same planet that pointed me to a different location for a crashed ship. Got there and it was the same ship. Patched it up enough to get it to the space station to scrap for money. Then around ten hours into the save, I was on a different planet this time, found a building receiving a distress call and lo and behold it is the same freaking ship!

I do not recall finding duplicate ships before on any of my other saves. Especially not within the first 10 hours of play. It is nice that I have received one storage augmentation and two C-class modules for each of the two that I have scrapped so far. That can really help early on in an abandoned survival game.

Points of interest not showing up on HUD [Question]

When I use the analysis visor to find POI's and ore deposits, nothing shows up. Even the icon for my starship fails to show up. I have tried switching multi-tools, restarting the game, and even restarting my computer. Both multi-tools that I've used have an analysis visor installed, and neither is showing as damaged. I've gone through everying under the Options menu, but I can't find a control that toggles this.

Can anyone help me with this?

frigate v friegate nms wtf seriously? [Suggestion]

OK, the two seem to have wildly different functions - with the "friegate" [sic] being a home base type ship and the frigate being something I can send on side missions.

But really - WTF? They could not make the names more confusing to differentiate each by one e? Like, call the side-quest ships cruisers instead? Why do the designers think of confusing us poor dyslexic people? ;)

I hope designers are on the forum and can... maybe.... ....hear this suggestion of this pleading, confused spelller.

Why don't Sentinel weapon modules synergize/affect weapons besides Boltcaster? [Question]

Not only that, but after installing Sentinel modules, my Neutron Cannon went from one-shotting Horrors to taking two charged shots.

If it only affects Boltcasters when installed, why does it say "Multi-tool weapons"? The wording makes it seem like it should cover Scatter Blaster, Pulse Spitter, etc. but it doesn't link up with anything else. So are these upgrades just useless on anything else, is it just a mechanic meant to buff the Boltcaster?

How long do I have and what do I have to do to keep it? [Question]

Greetings fellow entities.

After joining Expedition 18, I got sonfar, but lacked the drives to get past completing Stage 2.

I got a nice sky zoomy, which I'd like to keep.

Also, I've laid some bases on some interesting planets. One of which I've been building around one of those witches hat shaped mountain formations.

...knowing that Expedition 18 will be ending soon...what do I have to do to keep my Tool, Spaceship, buildings and bases?

It'd be good to keep all the loot I've been storing, too.

Do expeditions just end and we go back to where/what we were, or do we carry on, but without the Expedition, or are we given an opportunity to save everything and stay where we are in the Galaxy?

starting under a rebel star quest? [Question]

Been flying around with the pulse engines trying to trigger the abandoned starship encounter to start under a rebel star and having no luck getting the emergency broadcast am I missing something? I’m relatively new to the game and trying to get the conflict scanner to find outlaw systems to make the big bucks pirating freighters

Exp 18 - Damaged Atlantid drive - stuck? [Question]

Doing expedition 18 - I am stuck one warp away from the 5th dig site system . I’m in the Iidera-Pablo XII system.

Atlantid Drive had all 3 slots damaged. I used the repair kit on Atlantideum. I still need to repair Indium and Living Glass to get going again. Scrap dealer has repair kits but he needs tainted metal.

I might be able to craft up living glass, but Indium isn’t anywhere to be found. I’m stumped on what to do next.

Maximum donations reached [Question]

Hi all, I wonder if any of you can help. I haven't played in a while so decided to create a new save, I have done the last two expeditions but not done much else. Trying to up my guild ratings as well as get rid of some items, saw getting rid of pirate transponders does both, however, it won't let me donate them to the guild.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to fix this?

Unsure how this Monolith works to find an S class Multitool [Question]

I'm trying to find the S class MT referenced in this post. I tried following the directions and got to the Monolith and entered in the "Sleep" command and it gave me an option to Locate a Portal by offering it a korvax casing. I did, and it said "Nothing Found." I am now confused about what I'm supposed to do. The OP says "have to power up discordant interface to access." Is that what I'm missing? If so, how do I do that? I don't see any interface at the monolith. I only see the interface that asks me to sleep/resist and that's it. Someone else mentioned you have to have completed the main storyline Echoes which I have. Thanks for any help.

Upgrade Multitool [Question]

I'm still pretty lost in the pure overload of information this game gives me and what to do. Came back to the game last week, after I played some 30 hours at launch.

I think I got myself a pretty decent multitool. Don't exactly remember where I found it, but it has 30 slots which felt like a jackpot.

Now after I got some nanites I am asking myself if I should upgrade the class of the tool?
What kind of benefit would this bring me?

The Angler [Question]

Im trying to complete my helmet collection. I think I still have to catch the angler to get the helmet that requires you to catch all legendary fish. I completed the aquarius expedition. Since one of the missions was to catch it, I figured I would have already in my catalog. I don't see it in there. I see a greyed out fish that looks to have the silhouette of the angler. Is it even listed in there? If I were to have to catch it now, is that even possible?

Is there a way to find specific fossils? [Question]

I'm trying to find the fanlike tails but no luck so far. I know you can exchange fossils in space stations but i couldn't find them there either. Is there any way to find specific fossils? Are they all spawn randomly or is there a system depending on planet or enviroment? Or is there another source to exchange them?

Fallen traveler quest for artemis [Bug]

The Space Anomaly will reappear in the Log, and the player must return to space and converse with Apollo concerning what the player did with the soul of Artemis as well as what is to be done next. After the conversation ends, the player must scan for and activate a Monolith, then visit the planet's Portal (which was marked by activating the Monolith).

At the Portal, the player must charge sixteen glyphs in order to activate the Portal and discover its glyph combination.

Except the portal they gave me nothing there i warped out of the system farbye and went back nothing there i even created a hard save and went to the space staion and clicked on a diff mission snd re clicked it snd the portal did not show snd it the mission that after you decide artemis fate you meet apollo at a portal

Next expedition ideas [Discussion]

What if, for the next expedition, you start without a ship (your normal starting ship is completely totalled, not just on fire with a little bit of damage). And the entire expedition is to build an entirely new ship from scratch in your base, as you travel across the planet, and use the portal network/trade to get the resources you need. You get to customize all the parts of it as you go along, it could be really cool.
It'd be reminiscent of that older expedition (that whole expedition was done on a single planet), which I actually loved playing, though I remember there were some downsides to that expedition as well. Too many players in close proximity at spawn and making bases everywhere where you couldn't mine resources.
I think this idea would put a lot of people off, but I think it might also be a unique experience to play.

What kinds of new expeditions do you all want to see?

Streamline inventory managment? [Question]

I’ve been playing a ton after taking a several year hiatus and I have so many random things in my inventory and I’m trying to sort it all. Are there any quick tips besides going to my freighter and clicking through 10 pages? I can’t even sort all of storage boxes at once I have to do it one by one, and I don’t even get that privilege on my bases it literally makes me go to each box independently… This system is so arbitrary.

[Need Help] LayLaps won't go away [Bug]

So I have been having this problem for a while now and after thinking I solved it with help from people on the NMS Discord, this dumb robot still comes back. I constantly have the flare turned off in my inventory yet it still appears, I've tried going between stations, restarting game, dying, etc and yet nothing gets rid of this robot. Is there any other way to get rid of this or maybe like a save editor could somehow get rid of it? Open to any help as this has been driving me crazy, thanks.

Deep Space Plunder Bug [Question]

Sent to intercept the convoy, when I arrive it’s usually 5 frigates and 4-5 ships however when I begin to attack everything stays docile and continues off into space. From what I’ve read on here it seems like you’re supposed to destroy the ships as they’re the escort, but upon killing everything that is tagged as part of the mission, nothing further appears and I’ve usually flown around enough destroying these ships that don’t evade or fire back that I lose sight of the actual frigates.

So far I have: 1. Pulsed away around 6 times until the mission resets, only to have the same results 2. Abandoned the mission and immediately started the new type.

Any ideas? I wrote some cheques that I need a forged passport to cash

Finally got into Cross-Save but save is locked behind gamepass [Question]

So I applied for cross-save without realizing that you have to actually manually upload the save on the connected platform.

Is there a way I can get my save without buying gamepass or NMS on xbox? The whole reason I bought it on steam was because I could transfer my save from xbox and NOT have to buy gamepass anymore...

Freighter: How do you move to another freighter? [Question]

Hi fellow travellers.

I had the luck to get an A class freighter pretty soon-ish in the game. Now it is more my home than the settlements or bases I ever built.

I have built quite a lot of rooms and appliances into it like lots of plants, safes, cooking stations an these personell Stations for weapons or farming investigation.

My question is: What would be the best way to move all this stuff to a new freighter (if I found one)?

What will happen to the safe content and all the building blocks when I move.

Can I also expect to lose all inventory from the regular (and technology) freighter cargo heads if I didn't move it one by one?

PSVR2 + DSense? [Question]

Hi2all,

is there a way to use the VR with a normal controller? Just tried the game in VR but the controls are totally different with VR controllers so wanna know if I could enjoy VR with a classic controls.

I know player could somehow adapt but no matter I'm pretty new to the game (40ish hrs) the VR controls are killing me.

Is it possible to re-roll the expedition save file for past expiditions? [Question]

So I am currently trying to finish the cartographer's expedition(expedition #3) but the planet I spawned on has not had a single extreme weather event in the two weeks I have been trying to complete it. It has completely prevented me from progressing in the expedition because of the way the expedition is set-up. I have tried deleting the expedition file from my app data and redownloading the expedition file from the website, but it saves my progress and respawns me on the same planet with the same problems. Is there a way to start completely over and re-roll the expedition?

Caught this Korvax and his Department of Galactic Efficiency goons stealing Traveller data off the Trade Terminal! [Screenshot]

He said he was looking for waste and fraud, but I didn't trust him so I called Space Station security. Then he started sparking, said "My Crystallized Heart goes out to you!" while rasing his arm, and started agressively yelling what I assume were hateful things - I haven't fully translated the Korvax language - to the nearby Gek.

Despite all that, security was eyeing me instead and asked where I was from. I said "From here, Euclid." They said I didn't have the proper hyperdrive to be in this system, even though I told them I was just briefly switching ships. They ended up deporting me to the Hilbert Dumension even though I'm a new player and I've never been! Now all my gear's broken and a toxic cloud just spawned on me. ThAnKs AtLaS...

xbox/pc friends issues [Question]

before one of the updates, i was able to join my friends on xbox from the start menu in nms. join friend, then it would show them. now it moved them to the nms side of things, & i cant join them menu now. neither can they w me. sometimes we have to land on the same planet to join up. any fix to this? thanks in advance travelers if any happens to see this

Hi everyone!

Currently the only system to add supercharged slots is class upgrading, which is not universal and limited. If there existed a system to add or change more supercharged slots (potentially to a fully supercharged inventory), how do you think it would work? How much would it cost?

It could be: - choosing a slot to supercharge it; - having a random slot supercharged; - having a random slot supercharged; - choosing an existing supercharged slot to move it somewhere else; - randomly shuffling the supercharged slots; - or anything else.

What would the cost be? Would it increase as the number of supercharged slots increase?

I'm curious to know what you think about it 😁

Am I an idiot? (just double checking) [Question]

I am pretty sure I did something rather...foolish, but would like to check with someone before fully accept this fact.

So I was playing NMS more or less 5 years on my PS4 and this game was largely the only reason to still keep my PS. When Devs announced cross-save, I was super hyped, instantly bought another copy of the game on steam and started waiting for more slots on beta.

Few months in, I casually log in on my PC and see that cross-save is finally activated. I am so stoked that immediately go downstairs, reset my PS4 to factory settings, unplug it and tell my wife she can finally sell it as I have everything I need on the cloud now.

I then go back to PC, open HG website and connect my PS account, Steam account, log in and see.....nothing :)

A quick Google search tells me that all save data on PS consoles is stored locally and by restoring my PS I essentially lost....everything?....nervous giggle

Hide coordinate-glyphs [Question]

Could you please help me with a delicate point regarding the game's streaming:

Actually, in the game, there are many places where glyphs-coordinates are shown next to the names of planets/systems, on screenshots, on HUD/GUI, etc. I wouldn't want to accidentally show them on a stream, I don't want anyone to find me :)

Actually, here's a question: is there any way to hide those coordinates so that they don't accidentally get leaked?

p.s. i’m pretty new to the game, about 20h on steam, so.. please be patient 😅🥲

Archived Ship Bug [Bug]

Hi fellow Travelers,

So I had a royal exotic, specced out for maneuverability and hyperdrive in my active ships, and the orange squid in storage. Was doing some interceptor farming, so moved the royal in storage to free up space in my active roster while collecting interceptors. After i was done the farming and went back to retrieve the royal, it was gone, and the yellow squid was now there, with the name of said royal. On top of that, the tech, upgrades and EXACT layout from the royal were now on the orange squid, and the mysterious yellow squid had just the basic tech you would normally get when you fabricate a ship, or fix a wreck.

Thankfully I had a similar royal exotic that I had stored a while back (it was pretty similar to my specced one when i found it so just threw it in storage as a keepsake i guess), so I just specced that out like the one that vanished and pretty much back to business as usual, a bit of a hassle but not the end of the world.

Really weird bug though, anyone else experience something similar?

I’ve been searching for the perfect Sentinel ship that has some cool colours and configurations but somehow stumbled on one that has absolutely nothing.
It’s a cockpit with guns I’m calling, The Star Flea.

I haven’t found an S class yet, portal coordinates included if you’ve ever wanted to fly disappointment through the cosmos.
(It’s ridiculously small though, kinda like a stealthy one man deployment vehicle)

Is it possible to locate portable refiners or the skiff? [Question]

Hey, I found a planet that was quite pretty, so I wanted to build a small house there. So I began to worldedit, but after some time I accidentally attacked a drone so I wanted to quickly get away. I got into my Starship and flew away, but now I do not find that area anymore. I placed a portable refiner and a skiff there, so I ask if there is a possibility to find that area again.

The purple systems i have been missing? Werent missing. The game bugged/glitched/lagged on me and reset the In Stellar Multitudes mission on me back to the last step. If anyone else is having issues, check on this. The only way i figured it out what by setting the mission back up, and going through the portal terminus on my dreadnaught. Lo and behold, the symbol appeared in a base and space station near the system that i had originally unlocked to complete the ISM. Took me some serious time, but i found it. Mad thanks to u/marcushasfun and several others who tried to help me scratch the brain. Yall are awesome.

How to change Voltaic (autophage) staff colors using a Save Editor [Information]

Just wanted to share a thing I made :)

I spent some time with my guy yesterday exploring how to change Voltaic staff colors. We figured out a reliable system using a save editor. I wrote down the instructions in this spreadsheet, with a reference table and some image examples. If you're not familiar with editing JSONs, please remember to back up your save files before you dive in.

Briefly, here's the how-to: Unequip your staff before you save/logout. Use a Save Editor to Edit the JSON of your preferred save: navigate to BaseContext > PlayerStateData > Multitools > (choose relevant MT slot #). Use Ctrl+F to locate any relevant Palette(s) to change, with the help of this spreadsheet. To change the Palette color, edit the first 3 "Colour" rows for that Palette (the R, G, and B values). Ignore the fourth row (A=1.0). Input any standard RGB 255 color -- refer to Sheet2. Save all changes. Please see the other tabs/sheets for examples.

Hopefully this ends up being useful to some folks. And if anyone does more testing and wants to contribute more palette data to this document, please do!

Crashed starships not showing!! [Bug]

This is my first Post and I'm not sure if this is a bug. I arrived in an unmapped planet, so it was discovered by me. Tasdallub in the Sotanna Galaxy. I used the radar to find emergency beacons and it showed me one, for a crashed starship. I flow to the location and there was nothing there. This is not the first time this has happened. Has this happened to any of you? By The way this planet is cool (literally temps are -190 degrees) but the creatures living here are robots. It so cool.

I decided out of all the species in the universe, if I was going to become a pirate I would abandon my relationship with the Gek foremost and become their enemy. For those who went the buccaneer route, who did you abandon and why? [Discussion]

I left them behind because I don’t trust the little turds. The smell they try to inflict on you.. I don’t like it. Korvax seem straightforward at least, Vy’Keen let you know they hate you. Gek try to fool you constantly, even in pleasant interactions.

Placing health and Hazard refil units… [Question]

Building my first base to share but don’t understand why only one hazard unit is charging up? I’m placing them on stone walls of my buildings (no prefabs) both inside and outside… they don’t need wires but only one works…. What am I doing wrong? The rest say need 10 nanites. Thanks

Haulers had it rough. [Discussion]

So, to bring newer members up to speed.

Path Finder (1.2), second named update patch for the game, introduced multi tool and starship specializations to the game, that are still present to this day. Haulers feature was larger inventory space when compared to other types.

Synthesis (2.2) then reworked the inventory system, by making the limit be tied to ship class, allowing other ships to reach same capacity as Haulers.

Outlaws (3.85) introduced high capacity cargo inventory to starships, with Haulers at the latter point having largest amount of those.

And then the Waypoint (4.0) happened. With the rework of how the inventory system works, again removed Haulers larger storage capacity. Since then inventory limits are 60 on tech for all, 105 for Exotics, 100 for Fighter, 110 for Solar, Explorer and Shuttle, 120 for Salvage (Interceptor), Organic and Hauler. Yes, I did check all of those in the game.

So in short, Haulers have been, for the lack of a better words, and as much as I would like to say it as I see it, I also don't want any trouble, done really dirty. There just isn't any reason to own one, as they only have higher than average shield strength left, with movement of a brick to make them unique. I just feel like Haulers are that one ship type that gets no real love. Every time they get something to give them a reason to exist, there is also an update to remove that, leaving them a forgotten thing that just hangs around, if for nothing else, than for the old times sake. Maybe I'm alone on this one, maybe I'm not. What are your opinions on the subject?

So I somehow managed to amass 2673 nanite clusters through milestone data and a couple of exchanges within the anomaly.

That said, for some reason I could not explain, I lost all of them but 333 clusters. I can't think of how or why. I know nanite clusters are not inventory items but the only different thing I did was change my primary ship. Is there a log of spend usage withing the game that I could check? I'm pretty sure I haven't spent it yet but can't hurt to check if there is some sort of spending log.

Getting many messed up missions [Bug]

Anyone else? Eg go scan fauna but sends you to wrong biome then look and marker is 2hr away, repeated 4x. Similar with depots . Another I found 2 sentinel control sites within 1000u of each other on the same planet! It never led me to the depot and i had to abandon the mission. Last night had a mission change type while I was doing it from delivery to destroy the depot!

Freighter colours [Question]

I recently got my first ever freighter, and when going to customisations, I saw that you can give your freighter different colours. All of them are locked though, I can only change the colour of the engine's fire at the back of the ship. Is there a way to unlock the other colours or do colours come with the freighter at random when you buy it?

I made a desktop app to track my discoveries [Fan Work]

I love tracking discoveries and taking screenshots, but I never had a good place to store everything. I tried using a Discord server I made, Excel, and OneNote, but it was all tedious. So I went ahead and built a super‑simple app where I can upload screenshots!

For adding images, I even made it so I can just paste them in, since I tend to use the screenshot tool mostly. I also added tags to each image so I can filter and find whatever I want. It feels great to finally have a place to catalog all my discoveries!

If you’re interested in the technical side, it’s just an Electron app with one HTML page and two JavaScript files lol

How to get my first freighter [Question]

I've been playing for a bit now, warped a bit too much, did I miss my freighter storyline?

I kinda strayed off the Artemis storyline, but I encountered a few freighter /pirate conflicts. I think for one of them, I went Rambo and shot everything on sight so I ended up pissing off the race and obviously didn't get the freighter, and just recently, I saved them from pirates but didn't get a chance to even board. Unfortunately, at the same time, I had to go back to my settlement to defend them as well, so maybe that's why I didn't get to board the freighter?

Either way, I should still be good right? Just warp a few more times and hopefully encounter another conflicts?

Capital Freighter [Question]

Hey everyone,

I have been trying to get my Capital Freighter and have been doing the following:

  1. Skip Reward for the first Freighter battle
  2. Wait for the second one and presave before warping.
  3. Check different 3 Star Systems since the freighter type is always prefixed in a system (?).

I have now been to 15 different 3 Systems and have not yet seen one capital freighter. Have there been any changes in this regard?

Unable to summon ship [Question]

I recently visited several distress signals, claimed ships, repaired only the launch thruster thinking that's all I needed to summon it and get it to fly. However whenever I try to summon it anywhere, I get a message saying that it's critically damaged and doesn't allow me to summon it. I've tried switching docked ships on the anomaly/freighter and they also aren't showing up on my freighter. Am I just screwed?

What are your absolute bare bones essentials that bring with you when you go explore somewhere new? (Early game) [Question]

I’m finding inventory management to be an absolute pain, particularly with limited storage slots in my suit and ship. I built a couple storage containers (the ones I could afford to get the blueprints for), but even then, I’m struggling.

Crazy [Discussion]

I found a gas giant which has a questionable moon combo and the gas giant itself has a lot to say itself as it has a moon that gives cobalt and itself gives cobalt which only one moon has NO cobalt surprisingly as every other moon including the gas giant itself produces cobalt, but three of the moons are ice type which is three iceys two are icy moon the other is icebound moon, we got a dead planet which relatively is nothing different besides being warm or cold depending on the time of the dead planet and we got a high temp moon, over all 4 extreme temp moons in one gas giant system. Nice?

Product disappearing from medium refiner [Bug]

Hey folks. I put a whole bunch of parafinnium into the medium refiner to refine into ferrite dust. It would take 25 minutes, so I exited the game. When I came back later there was nothing at the refiner's exit, and the parafinium is nowhere to be found either. Weird. Where can they be, both the ferrite dust and the parafinium? I've looked into the storages and they ain't there.

The game refuses to give me psichonic eggs from expeditions with living frigates. [Bug]

Important to mention: I skip time ahead via changing date n time manually. I just don't have time to wait on these things.
The problem? I do see them in the logs of the expeditions and the game credits em' to me, yet they don't appear in my inventory anywhere. I've checked my ships, freighter, everything. I do get storage upgrades for the living ship, and every other item is added into my inventory without a hitch.

Coordinating Discoveries, Galaxy Map, and Teleporter View [Discussion]

TLDR; How do you keep track of your favorite systems and planets? My process:

Systems:

I keep the system name close to it's original.
If I found "Zankoha XVII", I'll rename it Zankoha.

I visit the space station for each system I enter,to allow an easy return.

Planets:

Planets get named after their system
Something like "Zankoha Prime", "Zankoha II", "Zankoha III", "Zankoha Gama" etc.

Bases:

Bases get named after their planets and relevance.
"S Copper - Zankoha II"
"Build Fishing Dock Here - Safanos Sea"
"Gamma Farm - Zankoha Gamma"

Why?:

Space stations are automatically named for their system. When you see a system in Discoveries you want to visit, the Space Station you see in Teleporter View has the same name as that system. I rename a system similar to it's original because sometimes it takes a bit for the space station to follow suit. So if I'm looking for Zonkoha and I see "Zankoha XVII Station", I recognize it. I rename it to begin with since I don't want added confusion with planet and base names, since the second word is my planet name.

With my process, my bases in that system now also have that system name. I can easily see all bases I have per planet and system right from the teleporter view.

Systems, planets, and bases can be renamed as their relevance changes. What I need help with:

Cluttered Discoveries Page:

Nearly every system I view in galaxy map gets added to "Visited Systems" in Discoveries. But I haven't visited them and I don't have the space stations to use to get to them. There's no way of knowing what region they're in from Discoveries. So they're just "this exists somewhere". If I am in a system close to it, it doesn't even show any different on the galaxy map, like having the name displayed without hovering it. Granted that's the behavior I expect from systems I've...

Inter-galaxy core-to-core jump appears unavailable... [Information]

Not only are gateway systems NOT the same for starship and freighter (some system are gateways for starship to initiate jump only), but if you initiate jump from the bridge of your freighter, you end up ~700,000 ly out from center.

Used to you could take a black hole when ~5000 ly from center, then in a single hyper jump get to a core system, you could initiate the jump from the freighter bridge and end up ~3500 ly from the center of the next galaxy. It might still work that way if you are willing to damage an otherwise functional starship.

Guess I am back to using monoliths.

Ship disappeared whilst in expedition [Bug]

On the third phase, had one ship the original starting one of the expedition with the drive needed.

Jumped to system, ship disappeared on the jump sequence, just pretty lines... appeared in space. And promptly died. But as it is a purple system and my ship was the only one with the drive... I can only telephone out and probably lose all my stuff... sigh

After however many years sitting in my steam library, I'm glad I'm finally getting it [Screenshot]

Took me a good long while to "get" No Mans Sky, let that bug grab me but here we are. All in the space of the last week finally got hold of the pirate freighter I have coveted for so long, acquired a Sentinel that I'm happy with, built my first staff and even had my first encounter with the random wonders out in the universe.

Really glad I gave it more than one or two tries to get hooked as the wonders are abundant!

Ship Stats Changing Before/After Purchase [Discussion]

It seems like ship stats change after you buy them. So I found a red squid and purchased it, I thought I'd seen this happen before so this time I waited for another squid to show up to take pics. The red squid I had originally has the same name but nothing's been done to it so it retains the slots and tech the way I bought it.

With one red squid already in inventory, a 24/21 slot, I spot this one with 27/24 slots. In pic 2 there's the scan reading of the ship on the pad (not purchased yet). Damage potential of 294.8 with a base of 262.9 core damage. Shield is 385.7 with 265.7 core, 178.5 hyperdrive and 539.2 maneuverability with a core of 430.1.

In the 3rd pic I've interacted with the npc who owns the ship, clearly I haven't bought it yet (exchange option) and shows the 2 different ships. My existing with fewer slots, the new one not yet purchased with more slots. From this view the core/base stats don't show, only those final number affected by whatever tech. And clearly the 2nd ship has an additional x class shield mod. But the final stats align with what my scanner picked up scanning it on the pad.

So I exchanged ships, paid the difference and acquired the one with 27/24 slots. Moved over to the edge of the trading post and fast summoned it to place it on the ground, off the landing pads of the trading post. Once summoned, still nothing changed, added, original tech it came with. And we get pic 4.

The ship I just bought with 294.8 damage (262.9 core) is now 339.4 damage (305.1 core). Shield remains the same. Hyperdrive has increased from 178.5 to 195.5. Maneuverability has remained the same.

After exchanging for the 2nd red squid a 3rd lands with the same 24/21 slots as my first one in pic 5 - and almost identical stats with slightly more shield. Damage numbers are the same as the one I just bought after summoning it.

I could understand numbers...

Abandoned mode: Bright waypoint marker on ship [Bug]

I'm trying abandoned mode for the first time, and the HUD marker for my ship is acting differently from a normal save. It's highlighted with a blue glow if I look in the direction of the ship, and it stays on the corner of my screen with an arrow if I look in a different direction. Basically it's acting like a waypoint marker instead of the normal ship marker, and it's incredibly annoying.

This isn't the bug with the flashing blue marker that happens if you interact with an NPC while in your ship on a normal save, and all I get when googling my problem are results about that. I've tried switching missions, save/quit/reload, switching to a crashed ship, and getting in/out of, flying, and warping in my ship. I'm on PC/Steam with no mods. Does anyone know of a fix?

So these guys just bugged into the floor and I can't reach them. I actually tried reloading or leaving the planet and nothing helped. 2nd attempt at a base [Screenshot]

Been working on this for a couple hours and honestly still feels like I've no idea what I'm doing. Definitely an upgrade from my first attempt at a base (which I will revisit and improve upon). Been playing for a few years now but never really had the knack for base building, but I'm happy so far with this one. Just need to continue practicing, tweaking, and adjusting things until I get more proficient at it. Next step is planting some trees and other plants.

Impossibly Humongous Companion [Screenshot Video]

So someone just gifted me a hatchable creature egg at the Anomaly. I checked the stats and noted that it said the creature will be very big. Okay. When I hatch it I see it was some kind of bone serpent. Nice! Nevermind that it kind of took a big portion of the Nexus floor, even though it was still an infant. I bring it to one of my bases to let it frolic in the grass. My Steamdeck crashes when I summoned it. Weird. I restart my game. It was only then when i tried to summon it again I noticed I can’t exactly locate it. Until I looked up. Ladies and gentlemen, the infant companion was approximately half the size of a regular planet, it seemed. Big enough to crash my deck. To the kind Traveller who gifted me this egg, thank you immensely but whatdaheq 😂

S Rank coord spawns lead to A-C Rank ships for new player? [Question]

I am a new player that hasn't yet finished the tutorial mission to warp to a new system via the Galaxy map but I've explored my first system with 4 planets really extensively and already have found it's portal and 3 glyphs.

I saw a post from a year ago of someone finding a S Rank explorer ship on a planet that only needs the first 3 glyphs, so I portaled to the planet close to the center of the Galaxy and use my distress maps to find 5 ships in this system. They were A, C, C, C, and C rank ships (1 explorer at the given coords, 3 fighters, 1 shuttle).

Feels like all the loot is scaled down to where I am in the tutorial or something? Are the "follow these coords and glyph steps to get a guaranteed s rank ship" videos and websites all pointless if I haven't finished the tutorial mission?

What am I doing wrong? [Question]

Trying to make some hot ice, which is supposed to use enriched carbon and nitrogen salt. I’ve tried both my backpack refiner and my freighter refiner and both say “Requested Operation: Unavailable”. No Man's Sky Crashes the Second I Open It Due To Setting [Bug]

So I got No Man's Sky on my computer, it worked fine as I had my graphics settings reduced, it kept crashing for one minute, so then, I checked settings, it said I may not have enough display memory everytime it crashed, so then I decided to change my graphics to this Windows Graphics thing that also had Intel Graphics. I had usually used Intel Graphics for it, and when I changed it, the game crashed and now I can't play it at all. Now it just doesn't start at all, it just comes up with this:

How to build underwater base with landing pad up top? [Question]

Just as the title says. I tried to build my base on the bottom of the ocean (about 627u deep) and then I tried to build up to place flooring and a landing pad on the surface. My plan was then to create a teleporter to go from the pad to the base itself.

However, when I was building up with my walls, it suddenly stopped and said the "base was out of range". How do people build deep underwater bases?

You know those ancient ruins where you dig up keys to open a buried chest? Well this is what it all looks like if you dig out the entire ruin. [Screenshot]

I had some time to kill and have always been curious. Look closely, and you can see the locations of the main chest and 4 of the 5 smaller key chests. The 5th is inside the first floor of the roofless 2-story cube at the extreme left of the pic.

Robbed!! [Question]

I found a S class freighter that was the biggest size it could be too and in the style I wanted. I was so excited. After I swapped and changed colors it changed to a stubby version. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it.

I messed up [Discussion]

I'm a new player, had about 7 hours into an expedition save (in phase 3), dug up a bunch of bones, exo suit inventory full of stuff...things are going well. THEN, I somehow walked away from my game without pausing while on a toxic planet. When I came back my stuff was all gone and not recoverable at the grave because I had apparently died multiple times? Now I'm stuck on the planet because I'm out of fuel, have no resources to make it and I die when I step out of my ship for more than a minute. Only ferrite dust minerals close enough to mine 😭😭😭 and I lost all my fossils 😭😭😭

I have learned a valuable lesson, though!!

What the hell? [Question]

I landed on a planet to do the last part (I’m assuming) of the void quest and someone got out of their ship near me and killed me, I’m in my exocraft. Everytime it comes back from black screen, I’m in my exocraft still and they kills me immediately again? I’m so confused and a little hurt. Rude.

I exited the game cuz I’d already saved recently. Now what the fuck do I do? Wait till they find something else to do? Am I screwed?

I think this is the only time I've ever seen a natural herd of fauna, as in, I didn't toss out a bunch of creature pellets or build an Automated Feeder.

I know it's hard to see. I couldn't even fit all of them in the shot. I think at the time there was over 20. My count in this photo is 14 but I could be wrong.

This was in Eissantam I believe. I haven't gone back to see if it's a normal thing or if I just stumbled on a rare spawn rng.

A mobile app linked to your saves for passive tasks/inventory [Discussion]

Something I'd really like to see in the future (if it doesn't exist already) is a mobile app that allows you to set alerts when certain passive tasks are completed such as completions of frigate missions, farm growth/one click harvesting, organizing of inventory, etc.

The idea of quickly being able to update my freighter's multiple tasks remotely while I'm away but have a free second, and getting home to all of my "chores" being done would be so satisfying. And help maybe streamline some of the more tedious tasks to free me up to just sit down, explore, hunt, or get to whatever else I might have planned.

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Travel help [Question]

I started a new game with a friend of mine. We were working together for a base. I went offline and he continued playing. It had not saved my location so when I rejoined him I was on a different system as he had travelled for the mission. I then had not progressed enough to unlock the hyperdrive blueprint and the next step for me to unlock it I need to be in the original system. The teleportation to his base is not available and does not come up. How would you suggest getting back?

We are only friends through Xbox not nms not sure if that’s any help to mention.

I don't know how versed you are in history, Traveller. If there is one thing you need to know, it's this: The First Spawn were a blight on the stars. They, and their works, are best left forgotten.

This is why, after much conflict, Bacchus burned all bridges with the Anomaly. Almost all ties. But he owes me.

He struck out on his own; hired a crew, constructed a massive cargo hauler, and, strangely enough, converting it for terrestrial travel. A travelling black market, hunting the stars for any remnant of The First Spawn and picking up all manner of strange curios, beasts, and Atlas knows what else to fund his research.

Well, he's found something. Something... Praetorian. Not just intel. Something physical, tangible.

Let's talk about My Pet Peeves. [Discussion]

Disclaimer: I love this game. Have sunk 55 hrs into it over the last 5 days (long Easter weekend. You can tell I don't live in the US 🤗. Still off work today - Monday).

So let me present to you my pet peeves: Unnecessarrily long prompts - about nearly anything. And the "press = to continue" ARGH! Can't you just display whatever you have to say/celebrate/infom about in a discreet little box to the side of the screen. Maybe blinking if it's THAT important. That way I can just enter my ship or interact with a given console, WHILE at the same time rejoycing about the umptieth mile I have walked in the game or whatever, thankyouverymuch.

The beginning of each run... Well, lemme just brew a pot of coffee while your, uhm, multitool thingy comes online (cough cough) .

Game loves to take its sweet time to get on with the mission after you finished a stage. Just show me what I gotta do next.

Dear game. I understand you want me land "there", but I'mma land HERE. Just because.

Why press buttons for a long time. Why not just "click" the button?

NOW my Easter weekend is complete. I'm German. I gotta complain 😂 Happy Easter, NMS fam!

Settlement help! [Bug]

My settlement was generated on a mountainous/hilly area and then it flattened itself and the surrounding area. I was constructing a landing pad and it put the construction site halfway into a cliff. I can't reach the little computer that is asking me for 250 chromatic metal. Is there anyway to delete that construction site or noclip through the cliff. I can't use the terrain manipulator because it's too close to the settlement. Thanks c:

Saw these ‘cargo pods’ destroyed one, didn’t know if it was a real players stuff, so stopped but then I entered a random freighter and it even gives me the option to become the ships captain. Lost my ship [Question]

So I ran into a weird issue. I was clearing out some signal amps, picking up ships to salvage, and I must have gone over the amount of ships I can claim or something. As I claimed to last ship, my sentinal ship that was my active ship started acting weird.

After claiming the crashed ship, I tried boarding my sentinal ship again, but it suddenly acted asthough I first found it (where you have to remove the items from it), so I assumed it was a kind of bug.

I quit the game and restarted it, but as I loaded my ship was now gone.

Has this happened to anyone before?

Uggg...I thought I was bugged till I founds out I'm at the max limit. Dang...even if i never had a chance to spend all of it I was looking forward to banking 100 billion.! Cafeterias in Space Stations [Suggestion]

I was thinking how far along the space stations have come and I was thinking they could add on the other side of the station from the bone vendor a cafeteria where there is a nutrient processor open for public use (like on the anomaly), maybe even a restaurant / shop where you can buy and sell ingredients / food. Have the planets ever moved independently or have they always been fix and my memory is just shot? If not, I think it would be an immense improvement if they did. [Discussion]

Quite awhile ago I beat No Man’s Sky. Logged about 200 hours and then fell away, I always kept it downloaded though because I loved it.

I started a new save recently to play with a friend fresh to the game, it’s been years and I had to relearn everything. Way back when I found a beautiful glowing mushroom world with all kinds of colorful illuminating flora, blue and orange grass, silvery rainbow shimmering waves of color that went over the land at night, and a Saturn like planet close by.

I could have SWORN that close by planet would rise and fall over the horizon and it was absolutely gorgeous but recently I realized the planets are in entirely fixed positions.

This is the most beautiful game I’ve ever played, but this is one thing (besides physical characteristic issues with SOME fauna) that I think really burdens an otherwise absolutely magnificently gorgeous game.

I’ve never been to space, but I really feel like they’ve captured the essence in the imagery. However, because everything is so wonderful, when you stop to look at the sky and realize the planets are moving as one glob as if they’re glued together, it somewhat shatters the illusion and looks very out of place.

It’s like watching a film with overall the best visuals of all time, praised, applauded, but somehow noticing little bits of green screen.

I’m not trying to complain, I love the game, love the work the developers put in, and honestly I love the developers and think they are exactly what all game developers outta be like, I just think it would go a REALLY long way if it were implemented.

What determines upgrade slots for ships being made? More info below [Question]

Image one is of my found ship with all its magnificent slots to add upgrades it's a class A and second image is the exact same parts but a class S Does class S just have less slots ? I can't seem to even add as many slots as the stock craft can. Does the space port you build as t make a difference, or do classes make a difference ? I really want this shit because it's all white unlike the stock one but I'm not willing to lose all those slots.... Any advice is welcome !

What's are Nanites so important? [Question]

I get that they are used to unlock all a lot of stuff in the anomaly, and they are used to buy technology for you starship, exosuitt, ect. But what do you do with them once you have everything? I already have everything I want unlocked and have (what feels like) all the technology I need. I feel like I'm missing something with how much everyone talk about farming them.

since when can someone build a base INSIDE yours? [Bug]

My favorite base of all time suddenly had crap all over the place, blocking my bridges and stairs, etc.,. and when I stood at my base computer, I could see the new base below me - at 149 /u distance , so literally inside my base limits [assuming still 300/u].

I reported it but of course since it was not "offensive" to the mods it was back the next day.

I thought it was not possible to build a base inside one when I have all permissions set to "No one".

I think maybe there is a bug in that calculation because after that I was pissed off and deleted my entire base, which I had spent hours on [had this base for months and the interloper was there for hours] and spent 3 hours finding another similar, in no way as glorious, island.

Then I found that at 85 /u from the base computer I could no longer build anything but portables - so I went to 170 from my base computer and it would not let me make another base computer - already claimed [by me].

so I cannot build base parts or a base on my own base but someone else was able to... I don't get it., and bummed I gave up my favorite island base which was magnificent. [the island, not necessarily the base , but I loved it]

Is it a bug?

When you hit the build limit,,, again. [Discussion]

So I started going back to old bases, cleaning up and reflecting.

I'll never again go to a base that marks a depot. I pulled hundreds of plants from my orchards, just go to natural clusters. Man was I bad at building. I certainly can scale back on palaces I only visit when I run out of activated copper. And mega trading posts, yehhh, I don't need bases on them any more.

The game evolves.

P.S. if you delete a base with a save point the star marker stays even though there's nothing there!

Fast Storage Augmentation "Exploit" [Information]

I haven't seen this method on the wiki or anything - I think I've found the best way to farm Storage Augmentations. You'll need to be popular with at least one guild

Look around for a system that gives you a storage augmentation (or as a guild reward.

Once that's done, you can use Inhabited Outpost nav charts to find a planetary archive. Just keep spamming it until all the other types of
buildings have been marked.

Head to that archive, speak with the guildmaster there, get another storage augmentation.

Keep hitting those nav charts until another archive is marked, and head over to it. After a few "priming" maps are used to eliminate other kinds of outposts, it's 1:1 nav chart to storage augmentation with a minute or three of flight between.

Need help with base design [Screenshot]

So I have this base right. The teleporter brings you underneath the alloy floors to a large space - kind of like dark lair vibes. However, I’m trying to figure out what to do with the space above the alloy flooring.

There’s a lot of space between that and the rim. I’d love to put something in that space and add a glass ceiling but I’m not sure what. I thought just a fuck ton of floor lights at first but I really don’t want to deal with wiring that much stuff. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have issue it crashing when I enter build mode or try to abandon quests. It's happening , I can sometimes get a fewin but then it happens. Within seconds reproduce every time

Idk is it normal what??

I can play for hours but if I want to build it the anything BOOM

Is anyone else having issues with the game not looking level? [Discussion]

During the expedition at the first rendezvous point I had multiplayer on and there was a freighter half dodged into the planet so the perception was entirely skewed. Now I can't seem to get it back to level. I've rebooted but everything is still slightly off. It's a little hard to show it in a screen capture so I took an image with my phone and showed TV in the shot so you can easily see it. I'm pretty sure water should be level. I'm in photo mode here but it's quite evident in regular game play. It makes no difference being in 1st or 3rd person. In this image if I strafe left I'll end up underwater and right I'll go above and clear of the water. If anyone knows how to correct this let me know. I e tried rebooting with multiplayer off but it isn't helping.

Purple Systems are... Unenjoyable? [Question]

I've been enjoying the heck out of this game up to this point, exploring and discovering new and unique planets, environments and sights. Having completed the main storyline, and having been enjoying the Autophage quests and content, I was looking forward to a new color of systems, hopefully with new sights and environments to enjoy.

...except after six or seven different purple systems, I find myself not only disappointed, but frustrated. Every planet in every system I've visited so far has featured aggressive sentinels, lots of environmental attacks (which apparently follow you around with predator AI, or so I've read... certainly feels like those toxic storms and tornadoes are seeking me out), abandoned space stations, or combinations of the above. Every environment is mountainous and frustrating to traverse. After two or three hours of just hopping from system to system and planet to planet, looking for something fun, I'm starting to think I'm done with this game, at least in terms of enjoyable exploration.

Am I just experiencing bad RNG? Or are purple systems intended to be difficult and combative? I don't even know what to do with all the Activated Quartzite and Crystalized Helium I'm collecting... I'm not griping per se, just trying to figure out if I'm missing something more interesting about NMS 'end game' systems and planets... thanks!

I have the pet I've been looking for but it's too big. I want to bring it down to about half the size it currently stands at.

I looked up all the growth hormone recipes on the wiki and they say things like "Decrease 100%" ... would that make my pet microscopic if I reduced it 100% of its size?

Is there an element to add to the egg chamber to shrink my pet to half the size it is now?

Long night ahead! Any tips on upgrading freighters quickly? [Question]

I’ve been focusing on just freelancing when I do get the chance to play for a few hours, but I’ve always wanted to spend a good time on upgrading my freighter, I just never spend that time. Is there any other source to get them? Idk what it is but everytime I see an abandoned freighter I skip it. I just hate the process, idk.

In Stellar Multitude Glitch!! [Bug]

I’m so annoyed. I did the the path to create the purple system. I for sure chose a paradise planet without heavy sentinel activity.

Somehow I got a Gas giant with 5 irradiated moons and SOO MUCH sentinel activity. Anyone else gotten this. The worst part is Polo is talking to me and asking how my paradise planet is 😑

Settlement 10 mil in debt. What do I do? [Question]

So, I took a pause from the game for a few months I guess. A couple weeks ago, I resumed playing.

However, I couldn't care about the settlement less, I was straight up doing casual play.

why im not getting the mission for the purple system? [Question]

It's been about five years since I last played this game. My save file has 200 hours, and now I can't seem to get the mission for an item that's supposed to be on one of the new planets. Help me make sense of the name "Autophage" [Discussion]

Don't get me wrong, "Autophage" is a perfectly cromulent name, but it doesn't make sense to me. This is a race that is entirely self-constructed, but "Autophage" would mean "self-eater" not "self-builder". Can "phage" also mean "to build"? Are these people actually eating themselves? Help

every frigate I try to recruit is either trade exploration or industrial specialist. i cant seem to find any that focus on combat. any specific reason why or do I need to individually level them by sending them on expeditions

I found out that you can use a lot more objects in the wonderprojector. [Build]

I I thought 12 objects was the limit and WP had the same mechanics as the vaults. You can use the woreglitch to get two the same, but what's inside doesn't change.

But that is not the case with WP. You can use the same lock for different objects as long as you use a different WP. The last object you use will also be in the other WP. I think it sits in the cache and only appears when you activate it.

For example. These 4 objects are in the same slot, just in a different WP. I did the wurm last. If I go to one of the others and activate the lock again, the wurm appears.

So that opens up many more possibilities

Bytebeats/ lighting help please!! [Information]

Hey Travellers!! I need some help please! I've finally taken the plunge and tried using the bytebeats devices to animate lighting (after watching Scottish Robs video). What I'm wanting to try and to is a chase sequence that goes all the way around (with a lot more light panels than what I have here...) I can get 4 to chase using the notes and switch settings.. but can't get 5 onwards to light withing one of the previous lit 4 to light as well... if that makes sense. Planet Suddenly Changed [Question]

I'm playing an Abandoned Universe save and found a paradise planet with no fauna and low sentinel activity with the weather labeled "beautiful".

Now, suddenly, there are 13 fauna, high sentinel activity, and the weather is "blistering damp". It's also labeled an overgrown planet.

Is there a reason the planet just changed like this? Also my base has a skull icon and a lock, what does that mean?

Question regarding exchanging ships with NPCs for Squadron recruitment [Question]

Is there any point in upgrading ships i want to exchange with npcs at space stations in order to recruit them with the just sold ship immediately after, or are squadron ships equipped genericly (weapons, shields ect) anyways?

in short: i like to have royals and sentinels in my squadron and wanna know if there is any point in buffing them up.

Is it normal to have 60-80% GPU usage and 20-30% CPU usage on this game with these specs?

I already replaced the vulkan dll file and it hasnt made a huge difference, I am wondering why I can't get my GPU to a higher usage, I don't think I am CPU bottlenecked at 1440P with everything maxed out.

Expedition pathing glitched, any way to reset? [Bug]

Hi all, I’ve been playing the latest expedition and am working on phase 3. I have the fossils needed to turn in to the Paleology society, but even with the quest selected, the galaxy map won’t show me where to go. I’ve done a lot of research and I found one post that said to load a normal save, and then reload your expedition save but it didn’t work. Has anybody had this happen, and is there any workaround??

Performance issues at 1440p? [Question]

I recently upgraded to a 1440 monitor with a 3080, and ever since I have had constant stuttering while playing. My cpu isn't great, but I'm able to play games like Cyberpunk at high settings with no issues.

I've tried multiple different settings, updating drivers, applying setting from Nvidia App, capping frame rate, etc. I'm going crazy.

Current settings game will be at ~130fps then dip to 70-80 while moving around causing stuttering. Leaving a planet or approaching a Base will make it drop to 40 fps sometimes.

I do not remember this being an issue while at 1080p. Is game just poorly optimized, or are there some secret settings tricks. I've been scouring the internet and everything I've found so far has not helped

Getting first freighter free: did I mess something up? [Question]

New NMS player here. I have seen online that your first freighter should appear after like two or three warps, and, after defeating the pirates it should be offered for free (yes, I know to reject it and wait for a better one). So I recently encountered this first freighter and defeated the pirates, but when I boarded the freighter and approached the admiral guy, I only had the option to buy it—no free offer. Did I mess something up? I still don’t have a freighter, so I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be free if I haven’t received my first one yet. Anyone have advice for what I should do?

I heard about Meta Quest 3. I don't care about the wireless or link, but I really want to have some nice visuals and a very fluid experience. Would you advice me a particular headset ? Thank you

Relatively new to the game, found this post here (linked below) but since it was old things may have changed regarding sentinels since I did not play the game around when it was posted. [Question]

I'll just copy/paste my question on that thread here even though you can read it on the above link if you wish:

I'm relatively new to the game, but I am familiar with the sentinel disable mechanic you get from the map you earn/find or purchase with the navigation data tokens.

So just for clarification since I don't know -- If you defeat them all and disable them from the marked console, is the disable effect indefinite on the planet you do it on? Or does it timeout after some time?

For instance, the bio generators burn for about 50 IRL hours before the need to be restocked with fuel to continue generating power.

I do believe I am running the latest version, so it should be this one if that makes any difference.

And great guide even if it is just for farming strategy! Very well formatted and lots of details. Thank you!

I did not specify in the above comment on the linked thread, but I am running the game on PC. In addition, I have not used or installed any mods; it is the vanilla game with whatever the latest update via Steam has (which I linked in the OG comment).

Is NMS noticeably different on PS5 Pro with a standard 4k Monitor? [Question]

I see that NMS is PS5 Pro Enhanced, how much better is it than the PS5?

I have a Gigabyte M28U to hook it up to, I am currently using a Mac for No Mans Sky. (not about to buy a TV at this point)

Trying to decide if the extra outlay for the PS5 Pro is worth it. NMS is pretty much the only game I play, and while I do like the best quality I can afford, there's a point at which I probably wouldn't notice the difference.

Anyone had any direct experience and would help me decide?
