Fossil stacks don’t actually split in Barter [Bug]

I made a bug report but I’m not sure if this is happening to anyone else.

I go into barter, split a stack of 5 of the same fossil and put three of them into the barter window (3 in a single stack since it won’t let you put 1 of the same kind in each barter window)

I’m bartering for a single fossil, and the dealer accepts the trade of 3 for 1, and I get the fossil I wanted, but the entire stack of 5 fossils disappears from my inventory.

Bug de naves de npcs não pousarem em estações e postos comerciais na nova atualização Relics 5.61 [Bug]

estou com um problema e queria saber se mais alguém teve o mesmo. Desde a ultima atualização venho querendo negociar com npcs, então fui para estações espaciais para falar com npcs e nenhuma nave aparecia por lá, resolvi então ir para um posto comercial, e a mesma coisa acontece, o pior é que varias naves ficam voando em círculos em volta do posto mas não pousam. Já abri e fechei o jogo e nada, já mudei de sistema, verifiquei se o jogo está atualizado, e o bug persiste. Caso alguém enfrente algo parecido apreciaria a ajuda.

Merged Planets - Chmageaki Galaxy 219 [Screenshot]

After many years and over 400 hours, finally came across this in the wild during my travels of the outer edges of Galaxy 219 Chmageaki. Two very merged planets that resemble an eyeball.

The larger Scarlet parent planet has translucent creatures and a crashed freighter right along the merge. The smaller Bladed Planet has peaks that almost pop through the clouds.

There is a base camp on the adjacent planet with a save point to manually save first before braving these new territories. This is recommended before exploring.

A Class Sentinel Interceptor 33 LY from Expedition 18 start system [Information]

Yellow and black hauler type Interceptor. Not one I'd go looking for, but I found the storage and stats of this ship made the expedition a bit easier. It's in the Nandemaa system, 33 LY from the Juduppka starting system. There's a bunch of comm balls on the planet. I checked three: two C class Interceptors and a Harmonic Camp. I did not add to the comm ball crowd, but did place an orange save beacon at the site.

Broken expedition [Bug]

Playing on Ps5 was excited to play new expedition but literally the 2nd stage 1st person i have to talk to. When I go to interact it just stops for a second and does nothing. Other people have had the issue cause the whole area around em is dug up from frustrated players. Is there a fix or can I just progress this expedition at all? Pretty fricking bummed

New Expedition Save [Question]

So I've been looking around, and while I'm sure the answer is out there, finding it is like finding a specific drop of water in an ocean.

I haven't played in a few years and want to start a new save. If I start a new expedition save, will that save be a permanent new game I can play into the endgame, or will it wrap up, just passing the rewards forwards?

I'm fine either way, it sounds like even if it wraps up, I might as well start there and get the rewards, but I don't want to spend 20 hours on a flashy base or S-Tier up my capital ship if it's just gonna disappear when I'm done.

Also, is it still the case that you're supposed to turn down your first capital ship so you can get the better one the 2nd time?

Settlement Overseer [Question]

I have a bug. I get settlement marker and I went there. Then I talk to one resident and sentinal drop in. After I kill them we get the task to become boss in hub interface. In that moment my marker goes to distant place. It doesn't show in this hub interface. Because someone alredy is an overseer to that. Like this I ' m in a constant loop to get a settlement. I also tried buying a settlement chart and pinpoint one. Same happens Help!

I’m currently stuck at the bottom of the ocean [Question]

Currently as of writing this. I am on the relics expedition and landed on a water planet. Almost right away, another player harassed me in local chat and started shooting me. I spawned at the bottom of a deep ocean and my ship is damaged. My gravestone to pick up my inventory is “12 hours away”. I’m at a loss for what to do. Can someone come bring me pure ferrite so I can go back underwater and fix my ship? Or is there a less wild way to do this?

May have Gekked my entire expedition [Question]

Just started Relics on Switch, and literally whilst walking to my ship, I discovered a crashed A-class fighter. Thought to myself "I'm having that!". Found my ship, flew back to the fighter, claimed it as my main, and took off to wander the stars in celebration - however - like an utter fool I now have no hyperdrive, and can't find anywhere to get plans for one. Am I stuck in the first system now waiting for the expedition to finish with one solitary tailbone that I couldn't even show to the Galactic Palaeology Society?

I am stranded in the expedition can anyone help? [Question]

I finished Phase 2 and started jumping systems on my merry way to phase 3 (I only have 12ish hours in the game so I still don’t know everything), pirates attacked me in the final system before the Obj and they damaged one of my drives that is needed to access the final system. It needs Indium to be repaired and I have never even heard of this. Ive started jumping system docks and cant find it in the global market. It’s not available as a schematic on the anomaly. PLEASE. I just want to get the bone staff :(

Anyone else unable to open their game after the latest update? [Bug]

I've gotten a few error ,messages when trying to open up the game and I already submitted a bug report through zendesk.

Basically when I try to open the game, it says I don't have any drivers that work with Vulkan. I have an intel CPU and an NVIDIA GPU on my gaming laptop. I've updated my drivers through the NVIDIA app and I went through device manager to to make sure both the GPU and CPU were updated with the latest drivers.

Has anyone had this issue before and were they able to resolve it on their own?

HUD UI error [Bug]

Hey guys,

when i open my Inventory in NMS i have an visual bug where "continue" and "back" is shown over the normal tabs

Anyone know how to fix this ?
they also have no function if you click on them nothing happens its just harder to click on the tabs below

a few storage expansion ideas [Suggestion]

exocraft expansion module (green) storage container expansion module (pink) exoskiff/trade rocket expansion module (orange) universal expansion module (white or multi color.) at the exocraft summoner you use the module and select a tech or inventory space to expand. at the base computer or freighter terminal, select expand container storage and place the pink expansion item to make one of your storage containers a little bigger. when upgrading the skiff or rocket you open the module in the inventory and both your trade rocket and skiff storage is shown then you select a slot in either to apply. inventory expansion trader: in the anomaly and or space station there's a dude that trades storage expansion modules of any kind to the player maybe on a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 ratio, or maybe just a straight trade. maybe he even just sells them at a really high cost. if you max out on exosuit inventory and still have some modules left then you can trade them for ones you really need like weapon and starship ones and some of the new ones i made up.

Problem with damaged ship [Question]

Hey! New player here, first of all I'd like to say that yes, I'm kinda late to the party, but NMS immediately got me hooked, absolute banger of a game. But that aside, I'd like some help with an issue I came across. So, I found a broken down ship in a planet and decided to claim it in hopes of selling it for a quick buck, though I later found out that I can't sell it but have to scrap it instead. No problem there, the problem is that now I can't get my hands on it! I can't summon it because it's damaged and I can only scrap my current active ship. So now I'm stuck with a hunk of junk in my ship collection with no way of getting rid of it, anyone know how I could do it?

PS: I already looked up solutions, but what I found was way too vague.

Player Made No Man's Sky Rule Based Challenge: Edge of Tomorrow | Hard Core | Death Loop possible 2025 [Discussion Video]

Hello Fellow Travellers,

This is an introduction for a new way to play No Man's Sky in 2025. I have played this way since shortly after Orbital update, as this challenge was then called Interceptor / Pirate Dreadnaught Challenge.

The rules are essentially the same as before except that with the recent over haul to the game with Worlds Part 2 and now Relics it seems to me this challenge has gotten harder... which I welcome as I find myself playing this game as a relaxing mechanism but also want a greater challenge some days.

I am currently show casing this game play on my you tube channel if you want to watch me play it as well as how to set your game up to play it yourself. I show this in Part 1 of my game play video. Here are the rules for this challenge: "Edge of Tomorrow" Live, Die, Repeat. (you have 3 lives to complete the challenge)

Death Loop is possible with this challenge, so while 3 lives seems like alot it's not. LOL.

Starting game get in ship and warp to dissonant system. The game will try to prevent you from going to dissonant straight away. So you will have to warp at least 2 times. Once you are in dissonant...

Chameleon exotic planet [Screenshot]

Found this beauty in Ekwathorpe Galaxy… planet is red from space and where you stand, but the background grass is blue. The Calcishroom glitches can be found here. Sunsets are pastel orange and green, and the night sky has a golden hue due to the atmosphere/chameleon effect.

It looks like the fourth of july… makes me want a hot dog real bad… just kidding, makes me want a snow cone…

Any tips on how to defeat pirate Dreadnaughts? [Question]

I would love to have my own pirate Dreadnaught, but everytime I find one I can't never win the fight and claim it. Dealing damage while keeping the civilian fleet alive is quite challenging and I haven't found a good way of dealing with that yet (tried destroying the frigates first, so they cannot shoot missiles but they respawn so very fast!). If ai chase behind the missiles then I end up being too far away from the main ship and by the time I'm back they're deploying new missiles, etc.

So, anybody has any tips, tricks or ideas? Or is this a Dark Souls situation where the only answer is "git gud"?

Relics Expedition Final Dig Site [Bug]

Hello fellow Travelers & Interlopers! Long time player, first time posting. Am a huge fan of the game and find it one of the more wholesome communities and stories in gaming.

Was wondering if one of you would be kind enough to post the coordinates for the final dig site planet on the latest Relics Expedition for Phase 5?

Been experiencing a bug where the Expedition Route no longer appears no matter how many times I reload the game or pin the needed milestone :( I’m sure HelloGames will fix in the next patch update but I can’t wait!

ReAnimate The Bones [Fan Work]

I couldn't find a fan fiction suggestion reddit but I think it would be great if lost travelers like Artemis could be brought back to life inhabiting bones. The Autophage call us pre-built but they evolved the ability to animate tech. 'She' could teach us how to make organic shells for travelers to reanimated.

I think it would be a fun story arc.

Ship storage [Question]

I collect a bunch of ships for the simple reason that they look cool. I always thought the freighter storage was infinite but have since come to find its not. You can have 12 active ships and i believe 18 in storage, and 4 squadron ships too. Im wondering if there's any way of keeping them stored elsewhere? Id absolutely love a feature where you can just have them as static props on your base.

I could always dismantle a few of them for the cockpits, wings, engines but you only get 1 part for 3 ships, so doing that id only retain 1 ship. At that, i like the randomly generated ships. I like the random names and colours and making my own is cool and all but isnt the same. I did make these two in the front, the yellow and orange ones, however.

Even if i could transfer the ships between different saves thatd be cool.

These arent all my ships, just the ones with the same cockpit model. I have around 5 or 6 sentinel ships, some of the expedition ships and 2 solar ships.

Need help fishing [Question]

Does anyone has a fishing hut I could use to catch the different fish I need? Im trying to get all legendary fish, but it goes real slow, and I think Im doing something wrong or are in the wrong spot. Also, I dont know what counts as Shallow, deep or deepest water.

So, what's the deal with Living Ships? [Question]

I know they look cool, at least most of them. But do they offer anything special in Stats?

I've heard about Harmonic Living Ships, where you just skin a Sentinel Ship but that looks dicey.

I'm in the part of the StarBirth Mission where the Neural Stem is Maturing.

As I understand it, you have a way of going to a number of Portal Address to claim your ship after all the waiting and the proper Restore Point saving lets you pick and choose among them.

Other than looks, is there any reason to favor one over the others?

I think Portable Refiner is bugged. [Bug]

At least on console (Switch). I have video but I can't do the whole transfer thing right now but let me describe what happened.

I landed on one of those on planet trade sites in a cold world. And decided to create some chromatic metal with copper. Put down my refiner and grabbed what I WAS sure were 300 units of copper, pressed quick fill and to my surprise I only see 166 units inside the refiner. I search my inventory for the rest of the copper only to find nothing. I quick send the 166 units back to my exo suit to see if maybe trying to place them again will fix it. I quick fill again and now ONLY 16 UNITS were placed in the refiner, the rest are once again gone.

Next I tried to smelt scrap metal into ferrite and see if I was just going insane, did the same thing. I grab my stack of 180~ scrap, QUICK FILL into the refiner, ONLY 150 scrap was placed, return it to exo suit, quick fill again, AND ITS ALL GONE.

Although it hurts to have lost all that copper, recovering it is not the problem, it's the fact that now I can't be sure to craft things that I need because I'm too scared to use the portable refiner. Has anyone experience this? As I said, I'm playing on Switch (and in hardcore, dunno if this affects but the settings are set so my inventory stacking is reduced).

HOLY FAECIUM HOW'D I GET SO FAR😭 [Video]

Each minute equates to 250 units (meters) of distance. 250×60×7=105 000 meters, or 105 kilometers of distance😭 tank the Atlas I have the launch auto charger installed, because there are no crashed ships in abandoned systems, and my other ships are all put in cold storage to allow traffic in my freigther hangar.

Help with Relics Expedition - Bone Receipe Bug [Bug]

Hi wonderful people. I'm on phase 4 and trying to make that bone receipe but when I go to look at the receipe in the catalogue I crash to desktop. I've already reported this this to Zendesk.

If someone can tell me how to make the thing I can continue with the rest of the expedition. I've already processed two bones in the Nutrient Processor, it's the next part I don't know how to make - what do I add to this to make the thing I give to Cronos?

I just started playing No Man's Sky yesterday, I have about 6-8 hours in thus far. I happened upon Artemis's ship the Uresh of Souls. Is it possible to be repaired? Echo quest line bugged. [Bug]

Hey everyone, I've been trying to complete Echo's questline but haven't been able to unlock it. From what I've seen, the prerequisites are: first, completing the main questline Artemis Path (which I’ve done); second, finishing Trace of Metal (also completed); and finally, Lift Harmonic Seal, which I believe I completed early on when I first started playing—possibly after finishing the main quest.

To troubleshoot, I tried redoing it by shooting the tall drillers until one dropped an Echo Locator. I then found the camp and located another ship, but I'm still unable to start the quest.

If anyone has encountered the same issue and found a solution, please let me know. Thanks!

New bone pieces. [Question]

Don’t know if others have noticed this but when building the new bone pieces for the legs/arms/flippers they are only for the left side. Picture of legs/arms show both sides but when placed is just a single arm/leg and only ever the left side which is frustrating as you can’t build a complete skeleton unless using the un-sizeable display piece to build it.

Possible bug or just an oops for forgetting the right side/ double pieces?

2 questions here [Question]

I cant seem to make out the difference between system colors on the galaxy map. I cant find any of the purple systems that are holding the water worlds. Anyone missing colors while in galaxy map?

Also, is there a way of building a base on said water worlds that starts at the stop and stretches downward? I started from 1428ish units down and got cut off right about 420-425 units from the surface. Landing pads for bases would be nice.

Absolutely lost in the game [Discussion]

Today I bought this game, since it was on sale and I had it in wishlist for some time. It looked perfect, just like my favorite Valheim, but with rockets, how cool is that! However, after playing for few hours now, Ive decided to stop adn take a deep breath. I am complety lost and overwhelmed. It was similar with Valheim too, but the game slowly introduces and limits new things to you so you can slowly absorb everything, but here its like "here are the controls and bye". And I got complety lost and after few hours i feel like I dont know anything, so I want to ask you, what are your tips when starting new game, what do you estabilish first and ect... The Wraith Turned Into A Different Ship [Bug]

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced a bug like this? My "The Wraith" turned into a copy (basically) of the original ship you get in the game. It retained its stats but I can't swap any tech into or out of it because it's not considered an organic ship at this point.

Also, since it's an expedition ship I can't just re-claim it, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Crashes crashes crashes [Bug]

This game is broken on Series X. I exit the ship, it crashes, I exit the space station, it crashes, I open the galactic map, it crashes, I walk around the planet, it crashes. I interact with an NPC, the entire game glitches. It's impossible to progress the expedition like this. This was the only game I played. Now it's a pain. Thanks Hello Games.

Why am I sifting through dung? [Discussion]

Almost done with the Relics expedition and one of the milestones has us sifting through 20 dung samples. Now, that's okay. I mean, if I've already killed vile broods, caught several different fish and made animal companions, then why not sift through dung? But why am I doing it?

I'm working for a paleontology group, so, sure, I'm digging up bone and putting skeletons together. That makes sense. I guess even fishing for bone fish kind of makes sense. But why dung? I'd kind of like a reason for sifting through crap.

Need some accessibility advice [Question]

Hi friends,

I’m playing on PS5.

Lately I’ve been having some tennis or golfer’s elbow in my left arm, and my left index fingertip is numb. I am supposed to start physical therapy in a couple weeks. Meanwhile I was trying to play NMS today and holding L1 is kind of painful. I tried holding it with my middle finger instead but found that a bit awkward. I can’t say using L2 is completely pain free either.

I looked through the control and accessibility settings in game. The only thing I found was the ability to auto-scan when a creature, fauna, or mineral is centered, but that only helps my right index finger, not my left. The trigger buttons are used a lot and I don’t see a way to remap the controls in-game.

I see that the PS5 does have a way to remap the controller buttons. Is there any particular button that isn’t used in NMS or that is used so little that switching that button for L1 wouldn’t matter much?

Also is there a way to make the visor in game toggle instead of hold (like the enemy chase autopilot)? Even just that would help a lot I think.

Game crashing after Relics update, HELP! [Bug]

So, I can't find any information abt this bug anywhere - but I don't use reddit much so please be kind. After installing the Relics update I can no longer start my game! Basically, I hit play and get the white screen loading up and then it crashes. No error messages pop up. I tried reinstalling NMS, but that didn't resolve the issue.

Expedition multitool bug? Will this be a problem when I end the expedition? [Bug]

I had copied my Pillar of Atlas multitool into the expedition. Upon receiving the Basilisk Crown multitool, my Pillar of Atlas took on the Basilisk Crown name and changed appearance to what I think is the fishing rig? And then the actual Basilisk Crown took on this Alexand-w name. Is this gonna be a problem when I go to copy it back into my main game? (I've already mentioned this in the weekly bug report thread, I just wanted to know ASAP if anyone else had this happen and how it affected them)

Second Planet with SUPER Aggressive Animals!! [Suggestion]

I have just started playing No Man's Sky for the first time (yes, in 2025); I understand that all the planets are randomly generated. The "campaign" took me to a second planet, where I had to do a lot and come back to finish the missions. However, the animals are SUPER aggressive, and there are A LOT of them. At least two different beasts, a beak-line tiger and a T-rex creature, just rush to attack me if they see me. I even scouted a small island with no life, and then a tiger just popped up to kill me!

Help on how to lower the aggression and number of animals on a planet at such a starting "level"?

I need help! [Question]

I don't know what I'm missing. I've completed all of the available missions and I still can't get the Atlantid drive. I have the Star Seed on my exosuit and the contract is at the Anomoly. There are no more missions I can activate to trigger the Atlantid drive mission. I've pulsed for at total of maybe 45 minutes. 15 minute increments.

Just lost all sense of dignity [Discussion]

So I'm doing the Nose In The Dirt mission in the current expedition, which is bad enough. For those who have not been this far yet, it's the mission where you have to search 20 dung samples. Can't get less dignified than that, right? Wrong.

I'm on the very last one and the stupid creature drops its "sample" on the side of a hill. I'm about to do my duty (pun intended) and pick it up when it starts rolling down the hill. So here I am chasing a rolling turd down a hill when I realize I don't think I could possibly sink any lower.

Can't find PVP option [Question]

Hey there, I've just started playing and wanted to turn off PVP as everybody suggests. But under "Network" (in-game, after I started a game in normal mode) I only have the following options: multiplayer, voice chat, speech to text, translate text and cross-platform. Autophage Mission [Question]

Two exotic ships in one system? [Question]

I was passing over a trading post after digging out a crashed freighter, thought I'd look for and found an exotic while passing over. Started the relics expedition yesterday. Mostly relaxing and fun stuff, I love what they've done with the fossil building and can't wait to get back to my main save and turn my freighter into a natural history museum

BUT

where the heck are all the tail bone fossils? I swear to god I've got enough samples to build about 20 full fossils as soon as I get some tails. Any Mods that go well with Abandoned? [Question]

New-ish player, I gave standard mode a fair chance of about 50 hours. It's a great game but I kind of wished I could learn more than one word at a time, and I really REALLY want far less aliens. Like 1 in 1000 less aliens.

Anyways, went straight to Abandoned. And now it's all better. Hearing the Anomaly creaking and seeing the empty bases healed my soul instantly.

I'm wondering if anyone is playing Abandoned with some mod, and what does it add?

The only thing I'm missing is a few blueprints apparently (Like the Goliath refinery, but eh)

And of course Freighters. Not the freighter missions and frigates, mind you, but I'd pay serious cash to have a garbage empty husk that can be jumped manually only, there's nobody on board, BUT has my custom base and containers.

A Small Rant about Snapping and Build Material Size Differences [Screenshot]

I have some things I would like to rant about. Why is there no corner snapping for building materials? and why are they different sizes? I don't like that I cannot snap to a corner instead of only the middle. I also don't like that the block/paving sizes are different to the wood/stone/alloy building pieces. Why can't it all just be the same size and snap to each other? It's frustrating because building is one of my favorite parts about this game.

Expedition 18, warping [Information]

someone mentioned or rather questioned why there were so many systems to warp through during expedition 18. They felt it was a waste of time.

You have to collect a lot of bones, a lot!

If you stop at each of the systems along the expedition route, you can add two inventory slots to your exo-suit in each system just by visiting the local star base and The Anomaly.

A couple of things I learned about Guardians for the Relics Expedition [Information]

I have a habit of building bases at Sentinel Pillars during expeditions and Relics was no exception. I built a pillar base on an Ancient Bones planet and I learned that if you turn off the sentinels at the pillar, you are also turning off the new Ancient Guardians so you don't actually have to fight them. The game will post a graphic that you activated the guardian (in the photo above), but the guardian simply explodes. A couple of things to keep in mind with the sentinels/guardians turned off are:

  1. You will not get credit for fighting the six needed expedition milestones, and

  2. You can very easily collect the Vigilant Stones (though I don't know what to do with them yet).

Expedition 18 Companion Egg Missing [Bug]

Hello Interlopers,

I recently completed Expedition 18. When I returned to my main save, I claimed and received all expedition rewards, including the fossilized egg. However, the fossilized egg is not in any of my inventories, and the Quicksilver merchant says I've already claimed it.

I realized I did not have the egg at the egg sequencer. The bone creature is not in my companion registry either. This could be because my companion registry was full, as I recently found out people had this issue with previous expeditions (16?).

Has anyone else had this issue. And is there a fix? I've been trying to collect a wacky assortment of companions, and this bone creature would have been the perfect fit. So I'm really, REALLY hoping I can get it back.

No stabilized glitches anywhere [Question]

Decided to go hunt for some glitches i hadnt found yet but i cant seem to find any, no matter how long i search for them (literal hours). I tried using portal coordinates only to get to message pods but no glitches.

Relic Expedition [Information]

I found a small expedition exploit. I used the same skeleton for all 5 of the complete skeleton quests. I completed many of the phases after getting to the 5th dig though, but I didn't mind. I like that planet.

Do crashed ships in no man sky respawn? I have tried to setup a base near a sentinel ship but it did not respawn at least when i had a base there. Since all resources respawn so ships should technically too, right?

Multi-save in no man’s Sky [Question]

I associated the two accounts (steam and Play) and when I try to play my Steam save on my Play it gives me a message telling me that the slot is full and that a slot will arrive soon. Finding Planetary Fossil Traders? [Question]

Anyone know if there's a way, after and away from the expedition, to find planetary fossil traders (ex. those fossil dig sites)? I'd love to set up a sort of little museum base next to one with the dig site as the entrance, but I've no idea how to find them, and the expedition ones weren't even necessarily on fossil planets. (I know there's ones on stations, but obviously I can't build there.)

Does anyone know if ex. any of the Planetary Charts can lead to them? Has anyone even seen any outside the expedition?

Do you think light no fire will be on Nintendo switch 2? [Question]

As of 3/29/25, I do not know the capabilities of the switch 2. It could be very powerful. It could be only slightly better than the switch. I do not know. The OG switch obviously had its drawbacks with NMS but overall was a miracle to be seen. I am guessing that LNF will probably need more horsepower to run, but that’s what the switch 2 is. Any shot? If so, will there be any caveat?

Well, today I learned a lesson [Information]

On the expedition today, I found a bunch of fauna I really wanted to go back and collect after it ended. I thought I would be slick and add them to my personal wonders thinking I could just find them again (I started from my main save at the terminal). End the exp., open discoveries and womp womp, nothing there. I feel like such a moron, collecting glyphs was the way to go and I flubbed it. Hopefully I will remember to not try shortcuts on the next one.

My buddy can’t warp to my system after relics update [Question]

I’ve made my home and all my bases in a purple star system, before the update I was helping my buddy finish the autophage quests so he can join me. He’s at a point that I have no idea how to help, he has no more autophage quests, he’s talked to nada, done everything in the walkthrough and can’t trigger the last quest, Audience with the autophage and the other one.

With the new update it states “and purple systems are automatically visible on the galaxy map” He can’t see any purple systems, has no quests for it, but on the recent expedition kept the atlantium drive and put it on his ship. Can anyone help???

The new update [Question]

Hello everyone, I have a few questions that I've been thinking about.

How many save files can I have on the ps4? Currently I about 14 extra files without counting my main save, however, they're old expeditions that I haven't gone back into. I had to delete one in order to be able to do the newest expedition. Wasn't there a thing that added more space for more files?

If space is limited: can there be a way to channel everything from one save to another!? Or is there already? I really don't want to lose anything that I've found or got as a reward from the past expeditions to disappear, even if I can find something similar on a random planet in my main save.

How do you get rid of an over abundance of nanites? The game says I only have 1 hundred thousand nanites, however, my display says otherwise. Nearly 2 million nanites and I don't know how or when that happened. I do remember being on the anomaly when I saw it.

Do derelict freighters still prove class upgrades for the freighter that a player owns? I wanted to test this one the a while back but I went a separate route. Although, I wasn't too sure if the same method would work for a dreadnought freighter. While being that path and still not knowing if it'll work, I did the latter move; reset until the S-class pops! Which it did, after several attempts. Still, I would like to think that it might have worked out better if I had done the derelict freighter option.

Why is Playstation dragging their heels with the updates and patches now!? Are they on vacation or something!? My game finally got the update on Friday around 6:20pm and that after the patch came out! I might be able to play normally and possibly not run into any problems but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Hopefully Monday the 5.61 patch might hit but I don't know what to do if it doesn't. Maybe I'll just jump in and get it done with no patch and hope for best?

Bases Won't Load [Bug]

I'm having an issue where other player's bases won't load. Most of the time I see an empty space with no parts placed.

There is a base, it just won't appear.

Other times, the base will only partly load in.

Icons for bases also won't appear unless they're currently being edited (Or if I'm real close to them).

Brolodise, despite having tons of bases, only shows one (Not counting my own).

One of the parts of NMS I enjoy is sightseeing the bases on populated planets (And hoping people discover mine) so being unable to see them is saddening to me.

(I play on Steam through Windows PC, with multiplayer and PvP enabled if that helps).

Missing Fossils? [Question]

There seems to be about five fossils that can't be found, or at least they don't seem to be tradeable for. In both my expedition save and my normal one (which is in creative) they remain blacked out. The first one is a skull I can't make out, but the second one seems to be a very carnivorous-looking skull, like a theropod dinosaur. The last three are found all in a row at the back of the list. They're two types of fan tails like the ones you can see on some fauna. The last one is the "stubtail," which looks like a human tailbone.

Anybody found any of these pieces? Are they just really rare or are they glitched or something? I wanna make a human-looking display, so the stubtail piece is kind of important.

Will they ever add a build your own multi tool kind of thing like they did with ships? [Discussion]

So I was thinking since they already have a few different types of multi tools & they already have staff building via the Autophage, why don't they just add a work station to space stations where you can custom build your own multi tool with types like Rifle, Pistol, Experimental, Alien & possibly Sentinel? & also they could add a salvage multi tool option so you can salvage parts like grip, barrel, etc. or scrap value lien with Starships. Is anything like this in the works or being planned?

Bug in the new expedition relics [Bug]

so I am trying to finish the first mission of the second phase of the expedition (report to the dig site) on world Elea Alpha, and it is just not letting me interact with attendant Javi, I can see him, and hold E on him, but holding E on him doesn't actually open up any dialogue. I've also noticed hell randomly just start teleporting around the area. Is this a known issue and if so is there something I can do to fix it? I tried restarting the game and reloading the save to a previous point and nothing actually worked

Catching bonefish [Question]

Im still pretty new to the game and Im wondering if anyone would be able to help me catch a bonefish for the expedition? Im on a deep seas planet at 800m deep. Used all 40 bionic lures and have no idea how to get more or what to do now. I just wanna finish this expedition and be done already. Wasted well over 2 hours fishing at this point

I have been playing NMS a few days on Xbox. This morn I realized my save crosses over to PC. I was able to load my console save and played an hour (everything I had done on the console was here). When I tried to play PC now it asked me to connect my console, I did so, and now it says Beta is full. [Question]

What happened from 6 this morning to now that would stop my console save from crossing over to PC?

The first time I loaded the xbox save on PC, it didn't ask me to connect a console account or do any special setup, I just loaded the game and there was my console save.

Nothing I did on xbox today has crossed over now and I get the message 'The cross-save beta is currently full'.

So I just saved an S class freighter in the expedition.

In my normal save I’ve been taking the fee so far till I get a good freighter. What to do with this in expedition? if I take it, will it transfer over to the normal save? if I take it, will the next one in the normal save still be free if not transferable?

I am in love with this update. (Thank you Hello Games) [Question]

I hope this post is allowed here as i have never posted before, i have just logged on for the first time since finishing the last expedition, played a few hours and oh my lord i am actually in love.

I am a biology student with a huge interest in Palaeontology and it’s safe to say this update was made for me! I have been collecting valuable bones for the last year on my main save for sheer enjoyment and storing them on my freighter but now i have a reason to continue collecting! The reassembly mechanics are awesome and it gives me so much motivation to continue playing! I love the effort the devs are putting in to add longevity to the game for long term players, the fishing update was a highlight for me but this is just as cool in my opinion!

I also am very much enjoying the expedition so far, it’s a lot more laid back and chill and most of it can be completed in the first system it seems which is amazing, not to mention the rewards are great! the ancient guardians are awesome and it’s great to have more unique enemies to fight.

All of this on top of adding planet waypoints so i don’t get lost spinning in circles for 20 mins looking for a moon behind a planet, i cannot wait to continue to find more awesome stuff as i sink more hours in tomorrow night!

Is everyone loving this update as much as me? i’m genuinely curious to see if i’m just biased because it’s an update based around a topic i have huge interest in, or if it’s as good as i think it is.

We are seriously spoiled by the devs of this amazing game, they have treated us for years without asking for anything back, game developers all around the world should take notes as Hello Games is by far the Golden Standard for game development! I really hope they know how much we appreciate them.

I'm currently doing the "Dreams of the deep" questline but there is.. A small.. Maybe not small- problem.

I have thalassophobia so just for me to land on a water planet I can't help but cover my eyes and spam "E" for landing while not even looking at the screen so I can't see that blue void or waves UGH scary stuff, also once I get my 1% bravery active and dive in.. It's not as bad really, there's loads and loads of corals and plants everywhere that I find beautiful

need some help figuring out exactly “where I am” in the story [Question]

hey guys, I am about a month in to playing, loving it and playing every day but I’m a little confused at the moment if I’m actually done with the “main” story? I went through the process of meeting atlas and resetting the system, now it says my quests are to just discover new realities, buy upgrades etc., also I still have my base worker quests (overseer,scientist,armorer,farmer) to do and I have to finish up the base computer quests, but basically I just wanna know if I finished the “main” quest line when I reset the system? is there something specific I should be focused on doing now before just going off and exploring?

Multiplayer Connection Issues [Bug]

My friends and I decided we wanted to all play together but it keeps kicking two of my friends out of the group. I was able to play with one of my friends without connection issues but my other two friends can’t connect for more than a minute at a time. Trading ships [Question]

So i just read that while trading ships through NPC with other players, the class and SC slots get randomized. What about core stats? And would it be possible then to get square supercharged slots on expedition ship given enough tries? Just a thought.

All the ceilings textures overlap and flicker at their junction point ? [Question]

I'm terribly disappointed with the ceilings, they all have overlapping textures. It produces a bizarre effect where the textures fight to be displayed and therefore they flicker. It's very disturbing.

Special mention to the alloy ceiling whose light disappears into the texture of the adjacent ceilings.

The only roof for which it's not too buggy is the basic wooden roof.

Do you also have this problem ?

did I lose all my stuff? [Question]

Im kinda new to nms and im doing expedition however i have just died almost instantly now 4 times in a row for no reason, it said anomalous combat or something and i didnt even do anything. Was it a player or just a glitch? Ive lost all my stuff now that I used from my personal save and I can’t find my death beacon thing. I died and got put back, but I died instantly before I could even get past the loading screen, and when I respawned my grave was there but not where all my good stuff was. Now I don’t have anything. I don’t have any other grave. I don’t even know now what to do

Underwater damage? [Question]

This isn't about deep sea damage.

A few times recently while swimming (shallow water, 30u), I've taken unexpected damage. No squid-like creatures that used to cause damage on contact, so it's not that. I'm not sure where the damage is coming from, and there's no notification in the hud or audio. No glowing jellyfish, didn't run into one of the typical hazards underwater (clams, horrors, or nitrite rocks).

I have 1200+ hours in this game, and I read the wiki a lot, so I'm a bit flummoxed. Are there more dangerous sea fauna now? Am I missing something? Did I forget to wear my floaties?

Relics Update: a new Feature, or not? "Sentinel Mech" [Question]

Official Relics Trailer mentions "Sentinel Mech" in the popup section in the top left corner at 00:38.

However the only thing mentioned in the official notes is "Fixed an issue that could cause erratic torso movements in Sentinel mechs."

Am I too high on GekNip? Is this legitimately worth a mention in the main features blurb in the (as always fantastic) trailer? As an mech-aficionado, I am not so sure. What are we missing? Gimme moar mech features (specifically more technology slots!).

Water creatures on moons have been completely wiped out. [Screenshot]

This is the only thing I found disappointing with the Relics update. I was really hoping they'd implement to allow water creatures to spawn in underwater caves, but instead, they deleted water creatures from all moons with water in purple star systems. Most had deep enough surface water for them to spawn in a random area on each moon.

Exp 18 Ship changed, no hyperdrive, no blueprint, no anomaly… help [Question]

I am replaying Expedition 18 with another save but made the mistake of immediately swapping my initial ship (which obviously had hyperdrive) with one that does not. And I don't have the blueprint to create it, it is not available in operation center, nor does the anomaly appear because I didn't make the first jump between systems. Is there a way out?

Help me find purple stars (mission completion question) [Question]

Hi all, I'm a little confused about the status of some of these missions. Actually I'm totally lost (!)

I don't know if I've completed the Atlas mission or not, I can keep bringing wonders to Atlas and it just keeps asking for another.

I do have the world seed thing but idk what to do with it?

Anyway I wondered if anyone could tell me what to do next to work towards going to purple stars. I don't have the Atlantic drive yet & and I don't how to start either of these missions.

NMS with Driver Compatibility Warning Error - Need Help!! [Bug]

Currently experiencing this error on launch/start of the game but it was fine a week ago. I have updated my nvidia graphics drivers, i have hard reset the games graphics settings through the game files by deleting it hoping it works on launch but it doesnt work, i just submitted some sort of help ticke through their help and support page but im gonna guess that it would take long to be resolved or get a reply from.

Does anyone know how to fix it? id gladly try anything just to play the game again cause im only 74 hours play time with it and enjoyed it so much in that short amount of time :'D

Returning Day One Player, Looking for Tips [Discussion]

As the title says, I was a day one player. I purchased a PS4 just for this game and when it came out I was... underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, it just didn't do most of the things they said they'd be able to do.

I quickly lost interest and moved on. When I first played the game my daughter was less than a year old and now she's a little over nine. I am flabbergasted at how much No Man's Sky has improved. There's SO. MUCH. MORE. CONTENT. And every pixel of it is gorgeous. Truly, the biggest and best glow up in gaming history.

Anyhow, I'm back in the game, loving every minute, and just wanted to solicit some tips.

 

I'm mostly an exploration and building sort of player. I'd love to know best ways to build bases, how to farm materials, and how to maximize things like the capital ship and settlements. Any help is greatly appreciated. GRAH!

Highly localized global weather trick [Information]

TLDR, the weather isn't global, it's just you. Go to camera mode.

I don't know if this is the case for all global weather events, doing a quest that needed me to go to a holo tower. It was one of those "approximate location" tags, so I decided to fly around a little.
Weather alert, incoming firestorm.

Screen goes black with ember sparkles.

Think to myself, maybe this one simple trick will work.

Go into the system's photo mode, The one used on expeditions as a take a picture at the site.

Found out, no matter where I went, there was a dark cloud hanging around my ship. Everywhere else? Clear as day. No wonder the fauna and Flora aren't getting burned alive, frozen to death, etc.

The good news is, we have what a lot of us have asked for, localized weather that isn't global.

The bad news is, It will always be localized around us.

Why aren't other ships appearing? [Question]

I play on Xbox and I recently started playing again, since I had been without GamePass for a few months, but when I came back, I noticed that other ships were no longer appearing in the space stations.

Could someone help me, like, did something happen in the game or is it just a problem with my game? And if it is a problem with my game, how can I solve it?

Headtracking with Mouse & Keyboard [Question]

As the title say I did test out Headtracking via "Delanclip Pro", "OpenTrack" and "x360ce". It´s working but my only problem is that the Input for the Headtracking Part is emulated via the Xbox Controller Right Thumb Stick.

So when I start the game and play with Mouse & Keyboard and look around with my headtracking Device the game sets all controls to "Controller" and my Keyboard & Mouse Controls not working anymore.

Maybe someone has a solution for this :)

Too many updates?? [Question]

So first off I gotta say I love NMS and I do appreciate it staying updated and relevant, but I kinda have an issue with the file size and downloads. And downloads frequency.

Reviews for "Relics" say it only adds a small amount of content... So how does that translate into a 17gb patch??

I have less than 10% of my steam library currently installed and every time a massive 5-20gb "patch" comes in I have to uninstall more to keep playing NMS.

I'm at the point where I have to decide is this game worth the HDD space anymore. 20gb a month for patches is a lot.

What ever happens to the good old days of sub 2gb updates?

What happened to Space Station override cards? [Question]

Some of us older players may remember a couple years ago in an update they added the giant ball that “controls” the space stations that you can interact with. Around that same time there was also a station override card/chip you could manufacture, but it couldn’t be used for anything. Part of me feels like the override card came out before the space station balls which is where the speculation came from.

The presumption was that it would allow the player to basically take over a space station to make more or less their base, but other players could still visit it as a normal space station, maybe just customized. But nothing ever came of it, and I don’t think I even have the override chip in my inventory anymore.

Does anybody know what I’m talking about and if anything ended up happening with that or was it just put it and taken out because it went nowhere?

Taking photos for the expedition for Xbox players [Suggestion]

Since I have seen some people have issues and ran into the same problem with taking a photo of 5 creatures. On the Xbox if you have a newer controller, don’t use the the button to snap a screenshot(the game will not recognize the button command even with the screenshot being taken) you need to hit the home button on the controller and hit the X button. People may know this but I figured I would save anyone the time and frustration.

Is the Relic expedition/update just an in-game version of the Piltdown Man? [Discussion]

Playing with the new update, I was initially worried about making sure that each piece went with the "correct" other parts (eg. part of the same organism), only to realize that there is no "correct" way to do it, and the game lets you take any fossils from different planets, in solar systems from the opposite sides of the galaxy (or different galaxies altogether!) put them together and the game will provide text about what the animal was like.

Is anyone else disappointed that there was no real "puzzle" to put together?

I know it's "just a game", but on a broader scale it bothers me a little - being able to put any partial fossils together and display them seems almost like they're making fun of paleontologists in general.

I REALLY need a way to prevent localized gravity inversions. [Suggestion]

I've got 2 bases that I've built up, and I love them both. The only thing is, prior to building them, these inversions never happened before...

They happen far too often, last far too long, and just ruin these places that I've built.

I really need some kind of placeable thing to prevent local "events" like these, like how we can put down something to hide our wires already. Some kind of "stabilizer" or something like that.

Vulkan Driver crash on startup [Bug]

I’ve been playing NMS since launch, never really had any issues with loading the game, but today I’ve done the new Relics update and my game will not start. On startup from steam I get the error message “no man's sky unable to find any graphics drivers that support vulkan” and the game gives me an error code then closes. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas how to fix it? I’m not particularly techy or well versed in this kind of thing, I just want to do the new expedition! Loading in beta/experimental mode still works and I’ve updated my driver using the nvidia app to no avail. I’m on an Acer nitro 5 laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060.

Please help!

Seeing another player(not during an expedition) [Question]

I’m not sure if my game glitched a little while ago when I first got to the purple star system(the one you get to create) but I had another player enter the system. I couldn’t get close to see them but I have heard this basically is impossible to happen or at least very small chance of it happening randomly. That’s what makes me think it was a glitch. Portal doesn't seem to work at all for me? [Question]

Hey, I'm trying to use a portal to go to places from the coord exchange reddit, but everytime I do it says the location is corrupted and it spits me out to a random place. This has happened with about 6 different locations without success.

1st time doing an Expedition, is this the norm? [Question]

Got to the 2nd dig. Place is destroyed. Tried to restore most of it but the attendant is in a hole and glitching. No longer working. So I can’t progress. Is this normal for other players to do this? If so, it’s stupid and not fun.

As soon as I started restoring some dork kept shooting at me with his ship then came down and destroyed the place again. Wish I would have snapped his name. My PVP is off.

Phase 4 deep water fossils are hard to find [Question]

As the title suggests, finding these fossils is very tricky. Especially on the planet the game guides you to. And I'm not just saying this as someone who suffers from Thalassophobia. It also doesn't help not everyone will have that the depth module to help with deep pressure. Plus, sitting above the water to use your visor to scan for said fossils doesn't help either given the depth of the ocean bottom. Anyone else struggling with this?

Anomaly bug where everyone disappears. [Bug]

Hello, I've been playing NMS for nearly 100 hours so far but just recently I've run into a weird bug that I can't find any info on online.

When I visit the Anomaly the people and ships keep appearing and disappearing. So it'll be empty for a bit then ships and people will spawn in. Then a few seconds later, usually when a new ship enters the station, everyone will disappear.

And it just does that, over and over again. No one, spawn in, ship goes to land, everyone disappears.

I have had it where there was no one, but that was because the Xbox app needed launching on the PC. As soon as I did that, people would appear.

But this is new and I can't rectify it.

I also seem to be having the issue of NPC's not landing at ports, stations and freighters although I believe that's because of a glitch in the last update?

Could the two things be connected?

Thanks for any guesses as to what's causing it.

Can't download bases and no ships in space station [Bug]

So recently I noticed that in my space stations no ships was arriving or leaving, just my ship alone there. Same as outposts. Now I realize that I cant download either other players bases on teleporters, but I can visit that bases that are features by the community. The same applies to other saves. Any way to fix this?

Expedition save issue [Discussion]

I played for 5 hours straight getting myself to phase 3 of the expedition the other day and I've just loaded up and there is no progress saved? New Relic Expedition Soft Lock [Bug]

After logging back into the expedition I noticed that all of the dig missions 3-5 were auto completed, no amount of reloading uncompleted these missions and as a result I have no markers to rendezvous 3-5 unless I find them manually and I'm softlocked on the field agent missions because there's no one to talk to as a result of having no marker, has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

Why is it anything that involved going to the atlas cook my inventory. Relics PSA [Information]

You can throw creature pellets on the ground from the quick menu and feed everything nearby at once.

I'm not 100% sure on this part, I can't find anything stating this is how it works, but when I was personally clearing the faecium milestone it seemed like the creatures were ready to eat and poop again as soon as their harvest timer was done.

Also, if you can't get to the faecium because the creatures are in the way murder is the most efficient option, but you can also throw more creature pellets a little ways away if you've built up a solid herd that you don't necessarily want to slaughter yet

Bonefish PSA [Information]

There are 2 types of bonefish. One is B-class rarity, the other is legendary. You need deep water on a toxic world or at night to have a chance to catch either of them, I don't remember which is which but I caught the B-class version at night on a toxic world.

It is super important to note the games definition of deep water is 70u+, so you cannot catch a bonefish in water shallower than that.

You can use the terrain manipulator to lower the seafloor.

You can see what depth the water is on you his in the bottom left, by the temperature, toxicity, charge, and other info I didn't know was there until I was 200 hours in.

You can also shove the fish you catch into the bait box. Most of the fish I caught from C to A gave about 20% bonus rarity, it didn't seem to matter what rarity the fish I turned into bait was.

You can also deploy up to 3 automated fish traps to speed up the process, gotta unlock them at the anomaly though

I love the fossil experts little shop from the new update, particularly his collect of displays that aren't the ones we have.

Please Hello games, let us place the fossil displays on walls and ceilings and give us either the capability to resize them or maybe a few different sized ones to buy from the research station.

It looks amazing.

Also thanks for all the amazing free content over the years. You're incredible.

Please Hello Games❗️ [Suggestion]

With so many Helmets , Races, chests , armor ,hands and so on , available to customise our traveler. I think it will be great for hello games to add this kind of tubes with armor that we can show off( this one located at space station). It can even have the same display like in fossil stand choosing. But instead of fossil we choose helmets , arms , legs, maybe even pose! And we can make change our appearance by approaching our tubes on bases and clicking apply to player.

P.S. Having only 3 appearance cells , without way to distinguish which is which without choosing one is heartbreaking. ( Sorry for some bad grammar, English is not my native language)

Basilisk Crown rename workaround [Bug]

It seems that whenever you try to to rename the Basilisk Crown it doesnt take. But it renames the stone staff from titan expedition. I found a simple workaround a few days ago.

  1. Just go to your weapons rack and 'archive' them.

  2. Grab the Basilisk Crown from the weapons archive and rename it.

  3. Rinse repeat

No NPC Ships [Bug]

I know this has been discussed multiple times but has anyone heard anything from the developers. At this point it’s getting frustrating. I don’t need all the steam players with “it’s fixed in the experimental branch” there’s still a whole community of console players and pc gamepass players without a core mechanic of the game. Freighter ship Storage Hangar limit [Information]

We all know the ACTIVE ship hangar has a limit of 12 ships you can swap with the quick menu on foot, but how many ships can you store with the Storage Hangar added in the Worlds update? I just reached the limit today and you can store 18 ships before it tells you you "Cannot store starship // Storage Hangar full".

For newbies or those returning to the game, you can now access a cold storage of ships through the Freighter fleet management terminal, where you can hoard ships you like but can't fit in the 12 active ship roster. Ship inventory is destroyed when you store a ship here, but ship upgrades are not, and you can't access the ship when adventuring either.

Didn't see this anywhere with a Croogle search and I figured someone might search this in the future.

Blue Sky System [Screenshot]

The Atlas has smiled upon me once more, in the Yeberhahne Galaxy. I found a star system with 3 planets and 2 moons… all with a semi clear blue sky…. One planet and one moon has floating islands on them…and one of them was even already named after the state of Iowa, which was a fitting name with its corn-yellow grass…. So I renamed the rest to states that kinda fit their biomes (last photo)… sorry to Louisiana, but your heavy industrial past made you the toxic planet 🤪 No offense to anyone living there… blame google. Personally, I haven’t been there to judge it so…

People struggling to get the Bonefish, did know you can control the size of the fish you catch? Here's some other tips as well. Good luck! [Discussion]

Watch the 3 fish that circle your bait, the outnumbered fish will always be the one who bites your lure. So if you see 2 mediums and 1 small, the small will bite.

If you watch the outnumbered one, it will actually disappear before going for your bait. If you pull your lure out before it disappears, you will not lose your bait.

You should stick to around 50-60u as those depths have the highest chance of giving you a large fish, which is what the Bonefish is. Cast and recast until you see 3 large or 1 large 2 medium/small at night and hopefully you'll get one as fast as I did!

You also should find a toxic planet, I believe there is one at the 2nd dig site. Many people including myself have setup a base with almost everything you need to fish protected from the elements and a farm for you to make a biolure. Just bring your own ion batteries and amino chambers.

You can also make a shadow lure, but just know that it will NOT catch you a night fish during the day. Personally I think it's easier with my provided stuff to catch a Bonefish at night with a bionic lure, but plenty of people have gotten one with a shadow lure. At my base, at 57u, I caught one at night in about a dozen casts with the bionic... So it's up to you, and obviously the RNG is a cruel mistress.

I've also heard people having good luck on the ocean planet near dig 3 I believe? So give that a go too if you're striking out on the toxic planet.

Child of Aquarius. Did I done something wrong ? [Question]

So, I got the Child of Aquarius during the 18th expedition in the Fishing milestone. I was thrilled because I had been trying to get it for a while. After I finished the expedition, I took it back to my main save and released it close to my base.

Then, the boss showed up, and I defeated it, but the helmet didn´t unlock for me.

Is there any other rule I missed to get it, or is it a bug?

A Request From Weary Travellers : Multiplayer Deserves To Be A Core Feature [Discussion]

I love No Man's Sky more than any other game out there, but there is something so deeply disappointing that the game actively discourages you from playing a survival/RPG multiplayer. The fact that core missions will often break when you attempt them in parties alone is bad enough, but the sheer simplicity and bare-bonedness of the entire multiplayer system makes it seem like it's a forgotten corner of the game that deserves more love. I am not asking for a massive update with factions and civilisations and whatnot, just a simple revamp of the multiplayer system that doesn't feel so empty.

  • Better UI that's easier to find and navigate (I cannot tell you the number of times I've forgotten where it is)

  • No gamebreaking issues that come along with trying to play in multiplayer

  • A greater sense of community in the game about the largest community possible

Hello Games is a team of incredible people that have worked their asses off to please this community and they deserve all the praise in the world for it, but I really don't think that asking for a major part of the game to work correctly is a lot to ask, so from me, my friends, and what is likely a large portion of the community, please bless us with this. Thank you for your time.

Guide catalog missing [Bug]

When I open the menu in the guides tab, it shows a specific tutorial, but when I go into the guides, it disappears. For example, if I press ESC, and it says something about cultivation, I open it and can read it, but when I go back to the money tab, the cultivation tutorial disappears.

Base building ideas [Build]

I'm building a wild west kind of motif.. I've got a church, grave yard, store, hotel, a kind of homeless persons set up, mechanic/repair type thing, bar/restaurant/tavern, a few living in "houses"..

I'm planning on adding a ranch/farm house and barn a few yards away, also plan on adding barber shop..

What else can I add? I have 5 "shop"/"apartment" slots open to make into something..

Thought about a post office but don't know how I'd build it to look like that with what's available and actually look like a post office. Everything else is really easily distinguished.. you know what it b is when you walk in..

Any recommendations or suggestions for those 5 spots still available to build a business or something in..

Pretty but annoying [Screenshot]

You know those annoying land creatures that you can only scan when they jump up from their underground frolics? Imagine that underwater but worse.

It was super fast and liked to double back on it's route. I kept trying to scan in front of it but it would constantly double back.

I've never seen any lifeform move so fast. Maybe this one was bugged?

I keep my mats on my starship. I had recently gotten a new ship, so I went to scrap my old one. Didn't realize until I was already back on a planet that I had nothing. Hours of gathering gone in a flash. I guess PSA always check your inventory before something like that.

So we still dont know why we cant see others player bases? [Question]

Ive been looking at all post similar to this one and tried lots of solution offered in these post.... nothing work, seems random

Sometime rarely, for some reasons that i dont understand, these bases appears out of nowhere but most of the time i go there and nothing....

I tried:

•going to the anomaly and porting to the said base

•going to the anomaly and downloading a base in the same system then from there going to the target base but still nothing

•tried the same thing as above but with a local space station, still nothing

•tried going to tha base and reloading/restarting game

•yes multiplayer is on

Im starting to think its either OMEGA BUGGED or maybe its because my friend who showed me the base was on playstation( im on pc ) and he was the host of my party... maybe that can play in the issue?

Sometime, rarely, i can see planet with SO MANY purple indicator of bases all around it and then pouf gone on my next playthrough...

Its kinda annoying honnestly because i like discovering all theses amazing community bases and show them to my friend, but sadly most of the time there is nothing left to show.

This Expedition is more broken than ever. [Discussion]

I'm trying to do the new Expedition, but everything is so bugged out that it's nearly unplayable. Every dig site, the quest NPC is glitched underground or bouncing around so much that I can't select the dialogue prompt fast enough. Planet predators are invincible. No matter how many rounds I put into them, they do not die. I nearly died trying to outrun four invincible predators and two guardians. The starship landing bug is worse than usual, making it impossible to land on a planet's surface.

I don't like to complain about this game at all, because HG works so hard to provide for us. But I am getting so frustrated trying to play the game after the newest update that I have to turn it off.

Just venting. I just want to play this beautiful game.

CO-OP Question [Question]

Hey guys!

This is my first post in this community. I've been following it for quite some time but I think it's time for me to wear a spacesuit, finally!

So, I've been thinking of buying No Man's Sky with my buddies but here's a little concern that we had:

We're 5-6 people and we do aim to play altogether in the same universe/ server but most of the time we won't be logging on the same time, mostly due to work.

Back to when we were playing Valheim, we used to send the save file to the person who was available to host the server for the rest of the guys who were willing to play at that time. When that guy was unavailable, he sent the save file to another person etc etc.

How does No Man's Sky server hosting work? Am I able to just host a server and keep it open at all times or will we need to apply the same tactic like Valheim?

Also, are the servers hosted on our own network or the game's network?

We're PC players by the way.

Am I Alone in finding that once I get into the swing of conquering out expedition milestone they’re over? Every time I get the rhythm with an expedition it ends and I have to wait until the next one, so what if they were twice as long and ran for twice as long? Too much, just right, or not enough? Thoughts?

Thought I found a good companion to ride only to realize HG downgrades fast companions compared to their original version [Video]

1000+ hours in and I just realized HG reduces the top speed of fast-walking fauna when you make them companions. I was so excited to find this guy, thinking how cool he would be on those planets with annoying terrain! Super fast walking with a clear view when riding.

I shouldn't be surprised, but it was still disappointing. He still walks kinda fast on boost, which is why HG does it, I'm sure. I guess I was just expecting boost to be boosted from normal, not boosted from a ridiculously reduced speed. Glyphs at end of video. Galaxy is Eissentam.

Most efficient way to find portal? [Question]

So, I am out in Sugueziume going through the first 50 or so galaxies. Not in a hurry. But, when I am ready to move to the next galaxy, I look for a portal and jump to all suns which puts me about 5k from the core.

When looking for a portal, it takes me on average 8 or so uses of the alien artifact map thingies to find one. That takes me like 30 minutes of bouncing around until I hit one that shows me a portal ley line.

Is there a faster way to find a portal in each galaxy?!

First time player and I think I am stuck in a space station? [Question]

OK so I was flying into a planet for one of those inventory size upgrade pod things from the star chart maps. On entering the atmosphere of the planet, an abandoned/derelict freighter(I think?) ship spawned between me and the planet. I found where to land my ship on it and started exploring. I interacted with a Heat core because the game was telling me to use my Visor Sensor to look for heaters and eventually I ended up dying from a weather storm inside the ship??? I'm guessing it was from the heaters though?? I had both hot and cold bars, cold was going down super slow but hot went down 100-0 in like 2 seconds. Eventually I died, and I spawned on a space station, but my only ship I have is stuck parked on a random derelict crashed ship like 2000u above the inventory upgrade I was going to go to. I've seen...close to this question asked over there years here on this and other NMS subs, but mainly i saw people getting stuck in space station walls, or in their ship? Not anyone saying they were stuck stranded with no ship on a station, while their ship is out drinking it up with its bois.

How do I get my ship off that random crashed ship, and get it to the space station where I respawned in? Do I need to reload my last save from the night before when I was last on? ;-; curiosity killed the cat man, I'll never explore another ship unless the game tells me to 😭

Help [Bug]

Help, after I bought a cargo ship and fleets, and attacked some ships to loot, my games simply stopped appearing npc (those that come with a ship, where you have the option to buy or exchange) at space stations and commercial points. I don't want to lose 60 hours of saving😿

I was just PvP killed (I think)? doing Relics expedition and lost all my stuff. [Bug]

So I was at dig site 2 just chilling and planning how to progress next, when suddenly the entire ground around me gets electrocuted (I can hear the clear electricity sound) and I just instantly die, kills me right away. I have not died in this game in a long, long time (and in my game settings, I always play with 'keep all inventory on death'), so I thought this was really strange.

I thought ok that was a weird glitch maybe. So I respawn and instantly die AGAIN, right in the same spot. What?! I was so confused how I was dying to this electricity sounding something. So when I respawn (I was respawning right next to my ship) I instantly use my jetpack (I thought maybe it was a ground degen effect??) and press E to get into my ship. There I'm safe and wondering what the heck happened.

That's when I see a human player emerge from a glitchy area in the middle of the digsite, and he has a staff and he's shooting electric bolts which are creating that electricy sound. It's not killing me in my ship so he then just disappears (logs out?). I realise - wtheck did I just get PvP killed? I think this troll was doing it on purpose maybe?

Anyway the WORST part is that my inventory is completely gone! The game says "go find your corpse to get your stuff" and I find where I died is a little gravestone thing. But when I interact with it, NONE of my stuff returned to me?? So now I'm sitting at Digsite 2 with NO inventory, everything I had saved up and was keeping for completing the dumb expedition is now GONE.

Anyway, that is incredibly frustrating and I just logged out and have no desire to finish the dumb expedition now and wouldn't even know where to begin, or if I can even finish or if any important items I had collected are now permanently gone (bunch of skeletons, all my materials, saving all the mods for nanites, etc). Just incredibly...

First try at a 2nd Freighter [Screenshot]

I'm a brand new player. Got less than 30 hours and some of them are just leaving the game on and getting lunch with my wife.

I'm thinking I got incredibly lucky with this first freighter.

I had to do the fights a total of 3 times because the first time I attacked a fighter who was helping against the pirates. Then tried 10 warps because of the Settlement Quest stopping me, then the next fight was my first offer. Then 5 jumps and I got this baby.

I want the pirate Dreadnought of course, but I think this big guy will be good for now. It's name is "Beary Good Ship".

The amount of griefing seems abnormally high [Question]

This expedition is the first where I saw the griefing, and I immediately turned off multi-player.

Based on all the posts the last week it sounds like a larger percentage of players are impacted. Is HG planning any mitigation for this if it continues, I wonder?

Sourcing Raw Ingredients for cooking? [Question]

I'm getting into cooking and I've been reviewing and researching recipes, buffs, and ingredients. Shoutout to u/Colonel_Klank for their list of the best buffs.

(TL;DR: Best sources/highest yield/most efficient methods for sourcing Raw Ingredients?)

For context, base building is what I love to do. My character made a lot of their fortune through mining resources. I'm currently deleting most of my old mineral and gas farms to rebuild them betterand smaller and incorporate them into creative builds. I'm trying to have creative, aesthetically pleasing, and functional bases on my favorite discovered planets after 500 hrs on my main save.

My last build incorporated 2 resource extractor farms as well as a Nip Nip farm. I included Echinocactus to turn into Processed Sugar and Frostwort for Glass Grains/Flour. And of course Refiners and Nutrient Processors. Thus, it's an all-in-one stop to make Herbal Crunchies and Cough Biscuits, if a visitor were so inclined to do so.

Now I'm trying to expand the food production division of the business. I know I can't have everything at a single facility but I would like a lot of ingredients sourced from few areas and the rest easily accessible through Storage Containers.

Come to think of it, is Ingredient Storage in the processors universal across bases like the Storage Containers?

From what I can tell, I'll need to source Flour, Sugar, Milk, Eggs and Honey. (I'm focusing on baked goods at least for now. Fish may come later. I don't like killing animals for meat but if my Minotaur keeps going rogue and slaying animals then I may have a constant source of meat).

Casual Nanite Farm [Information]

If your standing with a race is good enough, you can buy tech at stations and sell it back at as-is for profit. While this isn't as fast as mold or pirate tech, I've maxed all three races and typically leave a station I intended to visit with 2000+ extra nanites and always consume one or two S rank (exocraft and scanner upgrades).

If you haven't maxed yet, you can craft barrel and crate fabricators and they will give you the gifts for free.

I am stuck [Question]

I just started playing the game, and I landed on this watery island, I don’t exactly know what for, now that I think about it… Anyways. My ship has no starship launch fuel and I don’t have enough di-hydrogen to craft a new one. The only source of it that I can find is in a crystal thing underwater that can only be mined with the advanced laser. I don’t have the advanced laser yet so I can’t get it. I also tried to see if I could get the advanced laser but I don’t have a wiring loom to make it. So how do I get off? I’ve scanned so many times and haven’t found any of the spikey crystals that normally form because their isn’t much land.

Formal request for the No Mans Sky team. Different Exo Suit voice options pretty please! [Suggestion]

First of all you all are totally awesome and as one of the few game companies that actually pay attention to community requests I know there is a small chance this will be seen by you guys!

Please please give us different exo suit voices. Would absolutely love a guy voice option. I can imagine it now "Units Recieved" in a sexy British guys voice or a matter of fact macho dudes voice or even a deep soothing voice. Man I hope this can become a thing because the chick voice yelling at me about "Thermal Protection is falling!!!" Is super super annoying. An issue I had trying to join a friend online [Bug]

Hello, Travelers! So I was trying to play NMS with a friend earlier on my Xbox (he was on Xbox too). Normally, I or he goes to the Join Friends tab on the menu screen and just join the lobby. It's worked 99% of the time. This time, however, it wasn't working. We were both logged on, our multiplayers were activated in the menu, we both showed online on our Xbox accounts, but we could not join each other's servers. His name would not show up on the Join Friends menu, and mine would not show up on his. I couldn't even click his name or any other name in the friends screen.

I don't know what to do. Is this a bug or a glitch? Has anyone had the same issue?

Locating a claimed ship [Question]

So, I'm doing a quest line called "Under a Rebel Star" I found a ship and crash log. I claimed the ship but before I could lay down a base computer or something to mark the location I was scared off by some sentinels covered in purple glowing crystals. I then proceeded to go to the nearest space station for some things I needed. However I then realized I couldn't summon the ship I claimed because it was critically damaged. I'm not even sure which planet in this system I left it. How do I find it?

Monetary limits [Question]

Has anyone else hit a limit as to how many units you can earn? I currently have 4,294,967,295 but I cannot earn more. As in, if I sell something, my unit count stays there. If I buy a new ship or something, it will decrease but once I start earning again, it always stops at that exact number. I have also, for some reason, hit a wall in my settlement productivity. I am at 989,218 units/day and have, on at least three occasions now, increased my productivity without this number changing. I should be at over a million units per day now but nope. Anyone else had these issues?

Discoveries [Question]

Hi everyone,

Sorry, bit of a longer post. Sorry if it’s a bit confusing. It was difficult to explain.

I was wondering how accurate the ‘Records’ are in game. Like the ‘Biggest Carnivore’ or ‘Smallest Planet’ or whatever.

I’m aware that the after a while, the game will ‘forget’ your discoveries, and that uploading them is supposed to ensure that the discovery remains permanent, among other things, but that this only sometimes work and often doesn’t, and that the whole discovery system is a bit buggy in general, and often doesn’t work right.

My question, though, is if this also applies to Records, the ones of the type I mentioned before, that are added automatically to the different categories.

So, like, if I have a record for biggest planet, will the game eventually forget that discovery, meaning that I could have found a bigger planet than that one in the past?

I’m wondering, because I was looking at my Records and wanted to go find some of them again, but there’s seemed to be a lot that were apparently discovered all around the same time, which seemed unlikely.

In other words, I want to know if what it’s telling me is true or not.

question about constructing starships and class [Question]

ok so i jsut read something that might have put my attempts to make starships into perspective. so S class ships have a higher bonus to stats, right? but A class ships will generally have at, or as close to, the maximum amount of slots? so building an S class would be cheaper on nanites, but building an A class will have more slots, and therefor save on upgrading with credits?

Has this bug been happening to anyone else? A random NPC's blue "!" beacon just follows you, and is not possible to get rid of without exiting and re-entering the game? [Bug]

This is the third time it has happened to me. I don't even know who Corporal Izhal is, but the blue beacon basically attaches itself to my ship. When I am flying in space, the beacon will often appear directly in front of me, and I cannot figure out why.

I log in after a long day of work, spawn in on one of the expedition planets, jump in my ship takeoff and am immediately annihilated out of nowhere by "Ship combat". Respawn and there is this guy running about with no player indicator (Bit weird but okay). Get back in my ship and bam. Immediately killed again.

Next thing I know this guy is supposedly attacking wildlife as per notifications on the left. Turns out, that wildlife is me (yay!) Alright, Imma fight back. Oh no nevermind he has no hitbox.

Expedition 7 - Leviathan [Question]

I've been doing the old expeditions on PC and on the Leviathan expedition I died just before the end of phase 5 after getting stupidly stuck on a box in the freighter that I couldn't see because of the camera position and one of those little security robots shot me in the back. The only rewards I haven't unlocked are the living freighter (I already have 7), a cape I won't wear and the banner/decal.

So question is, if I want to complete it (just because it bugs me that I didn't) then do I have to just grind through everything exactly the same again or is it different the second time through? Is there some part of the story that is unlocked or different in later iterations?

Do repaired elements inside damaged components of the multi-tool expire? [Question]

I recently got a new multi-tool with some damaged components. Each component, as we all know, require some elements to be added to be fixed once and for all.

So I just add the required elements inside each component as I found them. But today I've realised that I had already added 2 of the 3 required elements and when I was about to add the 3rd, one of the other two was gone.

Do I need to fix them all at once?

All ship parts from my ship's inventory disappeared [Question]

I don't remember exactly what happened, but I'm hunting for ship parts for quite a while now while trying to build my perfect fighter. I gathered some parts from my storage container, put them on my ship's inventory so I could go to a space station to test different combinations.

I didn't do it immediately tho and still travel to explore other systems and even made some nexus missions on the anomaly beforehand. When I was finally going to make my new ship I noticed all the parts I had put on there disappeared from the inventory.

These were the hardest parts to find (several varieties of hardframe wings, droid wings and etc), took months of going to ship wrecks, hundreds of distress signals attempts and now they're all gone.

Hotspots: Feedback [Suggestion]

Curious what others thoughts are on mineral hot spots. Personally, it does not feel rewarding to find a hot spot, build as many storage silos as possible, and then get nearly unlimited resources. I think the tier of the hotspot should not correspond to how fast you can extract materials, but how many. mineral hot spots have a limited number of material that can be extracted. The tier increases the amount (S class having the most) New Item: Drill Bits. Required for mineral extractors to work. Slowly wear down and break over time. Cadmium bit required to drill Emeril. Emeril for indium, and indium for quartzite. Better quality metal bits last longer.

IMO, this would encourage more exploration and base building to set up new extraction points. Also would provide more uses for some of the materials in the game through crafting drill bits.

Expedition 18 - red exotic found along the way [Screenshot]

I thought I'd got lucky on the starting planet because I came across a crashed A-class solar ship within about 10 mins of starting the expedition.

However in the star system for the second rendezvous I came across a red exotic for purchase. It landed in the space station (and there were actually 2 there at one point). Thought people might like to know if they wanted to complete the expedition in style. I've now got a classy ride and a solar ship which is lugging around my fossil samples.

I'd suggest going to a dissonant world first and farming a few crashed sentinels so you have the funds. I think it was around 23m to purchase.

First time I’ve ever noticed 3 planets having the same exact water spots on the system preview page. A. Jinoh, Inguo, and Eppian all have the same water markings… they definitely don’t look the same flying through the system, as Inguo is more water than land, which is rare for a desert planet…

How do I get eggs from seahorses? [Question]

Let me explain the situation:

So a very friendly guy in the anomaly gave me a bunch of eggs and in one of those eggs I found a sea horse… which is a fish.

Now I want to keep it because it is kinda rare and unique but also I would like to get an egg instead of having him in one of my pet slots the problem is that I cannot interact with him and I don’t know why, since I cannot touch it I can’t feed him, ride him ecc.. which also means I can’t have his egg.

Is there a way to do that? I’ve tried everything even going in water but no, just doesn’t work

I lost my Titanic Trophy :( [Discussion]

So the Titanic Trophy (which is the big glowing ornamental skull you can put in your base was a reward for the latest expedition, but rather than be given the crafting formula for it you just get 1 in your inventory and thats the only one you can have.

I put it down in my base then decided to move it, but instead of pressing R3 (to pick) i pressed L2, which is normally to break down pieces, but with some parts items like beacons L2 just picks them up also. Instead of putting the skull back in my inventory it broke for condensed carbon, so I no longer have it at all and can't build it in the basebuilding menu. Also at the space anomoly it appears to only be listed as a reward for expedition 4 not the latest one. I don't know if you did that expedition do you get the ability to craft as many as you like or is it also a single item? To make matters worse for some reason there was no data for the last restore point so I couldnt reload, never seen that before.

tl;dr game gives a one-and-only reward for the latest expedition but if your not careful you'll lose it for good.

Should I move from PS5 to PC version or stay put? [Question]

My partner purchased NMS years ago on PS5 and I only recently started playing it and have been loving it, I'm hooked!

However, I just saw there's a steam sale right now and the game is discounted heavily.

Is there any reason to purchase the PC version and move my save over there? Would I noticed any significant improvement on quality and performance? I built my PC only just last year so the specs are pretty great.

Or do I just keep playing the version I have for free on PS5 which is generally fine aside from the rare crash and sometimes questionable graphics, mostly when descending into a planet.

PC (Steam) Version - Controller Issues? [Question]

I've been playing on PS5 for the last few months, but picked up the Steam version yesterday so that I can use my cross save (if a slot ever becomes available...).

But I'm having an issue playing it with the PS5 controller - it just seems to drift every now and then, or stops responding for a few seconds. Anyone else had this problem? It's perfect when playing on the PS5, this only happens on the PC/Steam version.

She was a baby at the time and I was on maternity leave

We had an issue with her she always wanted to be rocked back and forth while she slept and so this game just absolutely saved me.

I spent so many hours waiting for exotic ships and chilling in space for 3 hours waiting for a s class freighter all while my daughter is sleeping in her pram being pushed back and forth.

I look back now and it was such an awesome time which this game made very memorable.

Question about freighter inventory limits [Question]

This may become obvious, but pretty new player here.

So I read the guides, and went and grinded out for my S class pirate freighter. Only took me about 40 or 50 fights (so much fun, lol).

My understanding is that I can have something like 120 inventory slots, but currently I can only unlock to a max of 35. Do the other slots unlock when I open all the current ones? Do I need particular upgrades? Or do I need to go find a different S class freighter?

Just want to make sure before I start putting time/effort into building my base on this ship.

Help needed before I go mad!! [Question]

To preface I’m on PS. So very recently started playing the game am, generally speaking,really enjoying it. Until yesterday when I picked up my first delivery mission to improve my standing with the Korvax(sp).

Upon leaving the space station I opened the Galaxy map and in the current system in the centre next to what I assume is the sun, I could see an icon that looked like a little parcel and next to that was an icon that I assume indicated where I was.

This is where it all fell apart. I couldn’t for the life of me work out how to get to parcel, although the same symbol appeared at the top of my HUD, every time I tried to manoeuvre to face it, it continually moved away from me!!

Please tell me what I’m doing wrong lol.

Expedition Rewards [Discussion]

Now I’m not talking here about the basic rewards that everybody gets – I’m talking about the rewards based off of everything that you do during the expedition (such as scanning items etc) - how should I best spend my time besides doing the main expedition log quests?

Currently working on the paleontology expedition!

I cannot for the life of me understand why a lower class (such as B) gun is somehow more in price/value than a class S gun.

I also feel like there were a lot more misc. player bases when I did expedition 18. Am i delusional? And then when i’m in the anomaly and i go to one of the featured bases, they’re gone!!

I am 145 hours into the game and I love it, but I really just want to be spending my time wisely while also making sure that I’m having fun and reaping the most rewards from each expedition that I go on! M

Portal glyphs [Discussion]

Relatively new to NMS. I have about 200 hrs into the game and thought, "I want to find a paradise planet to build my forever home on." So I go on YouTube and reddit in search of some glyphs to a Pandora-esque paradise planet. I found many with video evidence that here's the planet, here's the address.... What am I missing? Every glyph led me to brutal worlds. I guess my questions are as follows:

Am I being trolled? Is this frowned on by hello games so they change the planets? Is there anyone who can point me in the the right direction?

Help with success in my endeavor would be awesome and i would be sincerely grateful. I think it would be cool as hell to find a planet where there's a community of traveller's, where I can plant my stake and feel a sense of community in the vast void of space.

Multiplayer Version Mismatch help? [Question]

Fastest and easiest way to max out your freighter's tech, bulkhead storage and mods (as well as everything else in the game) [Information]

Salvaged Frigate mods and bulkheads:

Prep:

Donate everything you can to the three guilds (Mercenaries, Merchants, and Explorers). Give literally everything you can, you will be paid back very shortly. Once you hit Level 7, you'll start getting some top tier perks. Keep going until you reach Level 9 (Exalted), which is the highest rank and gives the best rewards. After that, stop donating since there's no need. Sometimes they will sell you the thing they want as a donation!

Loop:

Start from the oldest spaceport in your teleport list. When you arrive, face your ship and jetpack in a curve up to the guild office. Grab all the rewards, which include multi-tool expansion modules, ship expansion modules, salvaged frigate modules, cargo bulkheads, S and A tier upgrades, and high-end components. If your inventory gets full or you run out of units, sell extra modules for nanites and sell components and elements for units.

While you're at the spaceport, buy an inventory slot until maxed out and check weapon racks for S-tier experimental and alien weapons. Go to the mission agent and take all feed and kill missions. Grab any easy bulkhead or salvaged frigate module missions before moving on. Kill and feed missions complete all at once, no matter how many you have. For example, if you have missions that require you to kill 5, 7, 10, and 12 creatures, they'll all complete as soon as you kill 12 creatures.

You can get this down to a minute or so.

Repeat:

Go to the next oldest spaceport and repeat everything. Once you run out of old spaceports, warp to new ones. The Explorer’s Guild provides unlimited warp fuel, so traveling is free. Every 7 days, guild rewards reset, so you can start over and keep farming the same stations or keep exploring. If you favorite all of the...

We need respawn protection [Suggestion]

Title. I just lost a ton of stuff because someone decided they wanted to shoot me from a starship over and over again. I literally couldnt do anything because the respawn screen would keep me defenseless for too long. It would be respawn after respawn and I couldn’t move. Hello Games PLEASE add in a bit of damage immunity so people cant do this.

Trying to find friends to play [Discussion]

Hey, I'm into survival and creative games.

My favorite game so far is Project Zomboid (it's the only game I’ve played for over 1600 hours), but I’ve also really enjoyed games like Valheim, Terraria, No Man’s Sky, The Forest, and Minecraft.

I still casually play League of Legends, but only because my group of friends plays it. Even though I’m good at the game, I can't stand how ego-driven the community has become. Because of that, I’ve stopped enjoying competitive games and shooters in general.

A bit more about me:

I’m a 27-year-old guy, married (I often play with my wife, but she’s not as into gaming as I am, so sometimes I play solo or with friends). Besides co-op, my favourite games of all times are Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts Saga, God of War Saga (both old and new) and Red Dead Redemption. I used to play a game called Silk Road back when I was like 10, similar to World of Warcraft but never played anything similar anymore.

I’m mostly looking to play co-op survival games, with or without a story (though I do love a good narrative). I’m open to any setting — that’s why I’ve played The Forest (which has horror vibes) or even No Man’s Sky.

Since I often play alone, I’ve learned to enjoy both combat and peaceful stuff like base building and farming — I’m happy doing either, even simultaneously.

Even though I study and work, I always find time to play. So if we really click, I’m down to spend long sessions in-game.

I’m not looking for just one person either — I’d love to find a small group. (I’ll admit, large groups aren’t really my thing.)

Anyone else into the same vibe?

Portals [Question]

Ive always found it mildly inconvenient that portals can't take you to other galaxies. How would y'all feel about either a quest or piece of tech that basically adds an extra slot or two to the portals so we can galaxy hop? I don't think it would be bad to just make the portals do intergalactic stuff without any extra steps,, I just really like unlocking things. Tickles my brain

PS5 Graphics Problem with New Patch [Bug]

I tried loading up my expedition save and my screen went white with the exception of a black oval in the middle. I could see the icons for settlements, bases, etc., and the thing to hit square to get into my ship, but nothing else. I loaded up my main save where I'm on my freighter and the screen is just black. Anybody else having this problem? I really don't want to destroy my saves.

Just to note, when the save is loading, everything seems normal.

What's the usual timeframe for Xbox Game Pass Patches for Updates to be released? [Bug]

I've been waiting for the patch for the recent update to fix the NPC ships no longer landing (they're just flying in circles crashing into mountains and shiii when at planetary trading posts lol & just not showing up to the space stations at all) and it's still not out! I'm on PC w/ game pass. I know it was released for Steam nearly immediately and even PS5 has the fix already. It really sucks because I JUST got far enough and enough units and what not to trade in and buy a new ship, go ship hunting and stuff as soon as this bug hit :(

I'm a new player so I don't know the usual turnaround times for when this kind of stuff happens - how long does it usually take?

Freighter Jumping - Let’s Make This A Community Wide Sport 🪂⛅️ [Video]

If your life support is damaged you get a weird glitch where you no longer need oxygen. This allows you to space walk.

Summon your freighter in low orbit while on the surface of the planet. This will ensure the planets gravity still affects you or you’ll float off into the void.

Then jump aboard and jet pack out from an opening on your base and fly over board. Your multitool will also equip once you’re out far enough.

Used to do freighter PvP or while diving, good times. But it’s fun to pick a works and go skydiving. We can make it a NMS community wide sport. Have fun out there.

NOTE: If you uninstall your exosuit tech and save in inventory, only keeping the life support tech installed, let a whipping planet hit you until it damages. Leave it broken and install all your stuff again. You will then never need to refill it and swimming and space walking won’t kill you.

Finally uploaded a base, looking for friendly neighbors. [Build]

Situated 700-800u above the planetary portal, the Erlistu Portal Skyloft is ready for visitors. I was originally just playing around with trilateral symmetry, but it turned out well enough to develop more fully. Still some room to add a free things if needed.

Erlistu is a low gravity planet in the 4-planet Q'uurelta system of the Budullangr galaxy. It is without an atmosphere or fauna (still looking for maybe some underground flora), so very open with room to run around and create. Resources include silver, copper and rusted metal. Sentinels are not aggressive, but they'll check you out if you get zealous.

It's a pretty chill place, so I created a pretty chill space to replenish and refresh. Come check out the all-day/night views of space and feel free to offer suggestions of what else to include at the loft. Or better yet, come set up shop, maybe on a nearby floating rock island and we can start a community!

Problem with tilted floor [Bug]

Hello everyone,

is any of you have encounter a problem with floor placement? When I'm installing a new flat surface, it's almost imossible (now) to fix it flat. It's always tilted. I get it snap, but tilted. Try to Free Placement and not. Suddently it's like downer for base building.

Freighter base fossil displays [Question]

I’m only able to place the Protoform Fossil display inside my freighter base. I’m assuming this is a bug, so I’ve already reported it. Has anyone else run into this issue? I’m seeing others place every fossil display inside their freighter base, but the game is only allowing me to place the smallest one, the Protoform.

I have plenty of open space in my technology expansion rooms, but the game is telling me my base is out of range when I try to build one of the other displays. Also for some reason, I can build them in the roof of my freighter base rooms.

Wiped out [Discussion]

Was playing last night. My infant starts getting crabby bc it’s bedtime. So I walk away to get a bedtime bottle in him and put him down for the night. Fully expecting to come back and get a little roaming around in before I pass out. Read a few bedtime stories and took a while till he settled into a good night. By then I’m tired so went to bed as well.

Cut to this morning. Got him up and fed and morning nap engaged. Then I went to check my game and run a mission or two.

WHERES ALL MY SHIT!?!?!

Well, I died I don’t know how many times and lost all my inventory somewhere in the night. I’ve been bad about unloading all the inventory regularly so I was overloaded with some stuff. Well lesson learned. Unloading and reorganizing everything. Regularly. And not walk away irl when on a frozen or fiery or dangerous planet.

How does the games save files work? [Question]

This is either a really dumb, or an interesting question. As far as i can tell with my current, not very experienced, knowledge of the game, the game goes on infinitely and you can come across bases from years ago and players as you go through your journey, so my question is, is it possible, to have a save file, then on a different save file, find one of my bases that are on a different save file? Or are all my bases erased from my game experience on a new save? Cuz expedition rewards are shared across all saves im just curious

Rescue mission! [Question]

Hello all, I need rescuing! So long story short, I am doing the fossil expedition, currently in“Oishiv” Galaxy on planet “Romseyc |12” now I know this is a far reach as I have seen quite a few players come in and out of the galaxy but if someone can spare some Ferrite dust or anything to help get my ship launch thrusters back to 100% 🥲🥲 not paying attention I ran out, my ship can’t take off, and i cant mine for any as this planet is a fully covered water world when I dive I die as it’s to deep to reach anything down there to even mine. I’ve never reach out like this before but I’d forever be grateful 🥹🥹 idk if anyone else doing the expedition will run into me but I am like one of the only ones on the planet maybe 2 or 3 others.

Unable to add pilot to my squadron after trading ships [Question]

Basically the title. Yesterday I was able to do so, but I've swapped a sentinel interceptor with three different pilots in the last 20 minutes and the option to add them to my squadron is no longer available in the dialogue box. The option is there when I speak to them before swapping ships, its just gone entirely afterwards. Is there something that was changed in the last 24 hours or am I just doing something wrong? Settlement question [Question]

Possibly not a spoiler but part of my time in this game is finding out what's to come even with basic things like a colony and I don't want to ruin this for anyone's else

(On PS5 latest update)

So lately I've been obsessed with my settlement, checking/upgrading and now the upgrade terminal and construction is in the dirt unreachable. Is there anyway around this issue or do I have to restart a new settlement elsewhere? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, I'll have to trash it but if there's a fix or anything I can do to continue this settlement let me know. If nothing comes of this I'll find a new settlement tonight.

This doesn't seem right lol [Bug]

I don't know if this is a normal thing but was pretty odd to see. When I tried to land on either planet right where they "colide" it would put me inside than I'd get put into a body of water than put back onto one of the terrains. If you land on one and walk towards the other it's very blurry and when you get to close it glitches pretty hard. Anyways, thought I'd share as I thought it was pretty cool

Relics - can't find my Basilisk staff, what did I do wrong? [Question]

I got the Basilisk staff during the Relics Expedition, but now that I'm back at my main save, I can't find it in my list of multi-tools. I don't recall a way to save that separately when I ended the expedition, but I probably goofed. (FYI I had copied my main multi-tool from my main save and used that during the expedition instead of the Basilisk).

Managing Inventory [Information]

Ive had more than a couple people wonder how to manage inventory. Decided to show mine. And am open to questions.

I keep my exosuit inventory tight and i dont like scrolling so i capped my space limit. The top twenty slots are minerals needed for my everyday travels which include salvaging ships, building bases, scouting planets, etc. Most minerals can be refined to ones i dont have listed. I have indium as my only star mineral because i like blue.

My ship carries just things that my ship needs and stuff i get from damaged machinery. I also try to keep that one page without scrolling as well.

Freighter gets the most of incidental stuff, things i would need but not regularly. Usually stuff i pick up at space stations or random building supplies. The space between is usually for stuff that comes by frigate missions before i store them in my storage units or sell them.

My storage units is for hoarding. Storage 0 is for minerals/orbs. One spot for each and i sell any of them that go beyond one slot. S1 is for rare materials like living glass, quad servos and crystalized hearts. S2 is for tech upgrades that are unused. S3 is for edibles. S4 is treasures. S5 is legendary fish. S6 is for expedition supplies. S7 is for expedition relics and rarities. S8 was for used upgrades for future pickups but ive changed that to bones. S9 is for ship parts to build new ones.

Relic Expedition / PSVR2 - Cannot complete "Snapshot in Time" [Question]

Hi, i managed to collect 6 to 7 cow like animals to a point and I made screenshots of them but nothing happens.

I'm playing PSVR2 and open the quick menu and select the camera icon. While in this mode I press on the share button and then select screenshot, but I don't get this quest succeeded.

Any idea how to do it?

Can I get my old saves back? [Question]

So I just gave the Playstation 5 I was using for the past year back to my friend who gave it to me for free until I got my own. I had multiple saves on that PS5, including one I care deepy about that I spent 400 hours on. I bought my PS5 and gave his back, but he reset the whole console. After finally downloading all my games, I realised none of my saves are on this PS5. As I mentioned, my friend already reset his PS5. Is there a way to get the saves back? I am freaking out. Help

I had heard some negative reviews of it's performance on there. Crashing and lockups. So, is that fixed now? Does it run well, load fast and the like? Does it still have issues?

Stellar corruption planets [Suggestion]

I’ve just landed on a pretty eerie planet, it has a stellar corruption where everything is black monotone. All the plants were huge and foreboding. It felt like it was something out of a cosmic horror. I wonder if on survival mode these sort of plants planets could have some form of interference that glitches your GUI, maybe short circuit your scanners or make it difficult for you to remotely call in your ship. It would really ratchet up the horror vibes - landing on types of planets that impact your ability to do basic things. Maybe they good add higher loot on the planets to make it more worthwhile exploring by them.

Cool Staffs? [Question]

Without like speed running the game or something, about how long on average does it take to start to get the cooler stuff? Would you say it's mid-game? End-game? Locked behind expeditions?

I've never had those cool Staffs or the Sentinel ships or anything like that. I sort of bum around a bit, admittedly, exploring my first two or three systems extensively. (I'm fairly well upgraded in tech before my first or sometimes second warp jump, lol).

I have the Switch exclusive S ship and rifle, so I'm not exactly shorted on early good gear or anything like that. Just haven't had the cool stuff yet. Kinda hoping it doesn't take 500 hours to come across though.

How do I disable pop-up messages in the game without turning off the entire HUD? [Question]

I've been playing this game for almost 3 years now, yet the game keeps telling me how to warp to another planetary system. This message keep popping up every 15 to 20 seconds, and stays on screen for 10 seconds. I've looked everywhere in settings, but the only way to disable it is by disabling the entire HUD, which I want to keep.

Does anyone have a solution to this? It's driving me nuts.

Little Known Fact: You Can Take Other Freighter's Carbon (Bonus, more well known tip in desc.) [Information]

If you board a freighter that isn't your own, you can harvest the carbon material from the walls of these rooms. No clue why.

Bonus tip as advertised: If you save a freighter from pirates, you can take all of the cargo from the freighter for free and still decline the purchase of said freighter as well as getting paid for it.

Is it possible for my Permadeath base to be visited by friends playing in normal modes? [Question]

I’ve built and uploaded a base on my permadeath save that I’m quite proud of and would love for my friends to drop by having given them my planet coordinates.

However I’ve heard there’s some levels of restriction between permadeath and other game modes so is it actually impossible for my friends to visit if they’re not also doing a permadeath save?

Is it possible if we’re all in the anomaly at the same time? Can they then teleport to my base via the big portal?

Does each system only generate certain types of minor settlements? [Question]

I'm playing abandoned mode and trying to find the minor settlements that have multitool cases, and I can't find any in this system. I have tried the signal booster, exocraft radar, starship economy scanner, and flying around haphazardly hoping to stumble upon one. So far I have found holoterminals, trading posts, and these minor settlements with 2 rooms, a landing pad and no multitools. Am I missing something? How do I find these settlements?

Unable to download base [Question]

Recently came back to the game and having trouble at the portal. I see player bases and even pictures for alot of them but every one I click it lags for a while then says "unable to download base" and I cant port to any of them. I have online discovery on and multiplayer on, show a green icon on left that says "online discovery active"

Anyone know how to fix this or what I'm doing wrong? Im on expedition 18 save if that matters

Abandoned mode - still no purple systems? [Question]

I'm running through Abandoned mode at the moment and was happy to see that purple systems would be visible on the galaxy map in the new Relics update!

They ARE visible... but I still can't warp to them as you need the Atlantid drive :/

Are there any workarounds to this that don't involve editing saves/modding?

What is the point of no mans sky? [Question]

I have been playing no mans sky for 20 hours at this point and been having a blast, but I just realized that all the mining, building bases, getting upgrades and all other stuff was all for nothing. usually in games like no mans sky the point is to make your character as strong as possible to take down strong bosses so you can get even stronger or something like that, theres usually a fun gameplay loop, but in no mans sky it seems for me that everything Ive done for 20 hours straight is for no use and that makes me kinda sad because I want to enjoy this game so bad because its so developed and well-made, maybe you can help me find a point.

Selling precious metals [Question]

If I want to sell precious metals such as gold, silver, or platinum, is it better to find a 3 star economy system to sell in, or is it better to find a system to sell in with a high sell % modifier (like 75-80%) ?

Can’t seem to find an answer that isn’t about “trade goods”, so any info helps. I’m just getting back into the game after a couple year break playing other stuff.

What is this? [Question]

I have experience in this game but am new to PS5, occasionally I'll get this floating marker above my ship with a blue exclamation point and a name and I have no idea how to clear it or how it got there. This time it says "Lieutenant Hinnanko" and I don't seem to have anything in my log regarding such an anomaly. Again it's only floating above my head and follows my ship around, I can hold square to tag it and that's about it

I don't know if fishing traps count for this expedition objective (I'd already caught one the conventional way, also at this dock), but I came back to check on this trap, and lo and behold, I had four of the little jerks in here. The Atlas has an inscrutable sense of humor for sure. If it's any consolation, I had one hell of a time catching storm fish during Aquarius Redux.

That said, I'd also like to take this opportunity to plug Big E's Bonefish Bang 'Em and Bin 'Em Joint on beautiful Ligart Prime in the Rendezvous 3 system of the Relics Expedition, the very place this photo was taken! Is catching a bonefish entirely RNG other than fishing on a toxic planet at night in deep water? Yes. Will it still be a categorically better experience at a classy establishment like Big E's BBEBEJ? Undoubtedly. Take in that je nais se quois that can only be provided by an obscure and nonsensical reference to a popular sitcom, and enjoy amenities like a base teleporter, covered dock, two landing pads, and a flat island with nothing on it. Don't get boned! Instead, come on down to Big E's BBEBEJ, where our bins are open and waiting!

Colossal relic guardians 101 [Information]

sorry no pics reddit wouldn't upload them 1. What are they? They are basically decor for base building, NO they do not move or attack, NO they do not spawn like other guardians. They do have a memory stone at their feet that spawns in a smaller guardian and after you fight the small one the big one stays the same a statue.

Where to find them reliably? Purple star systems have the highest chance. For best conditions (perfect weather, earth like amd i found 3 within 300u of eachother within 10 mins) look specifically for planets with the description "THE RELIQUARY" for second best look for planets with "relic"in the the title. Colossal relic guardians 101 [Information]

What are they? They are basically decor for base building, NO they do not move or attack, NO they do not spawn like other guardians. They do have a memory stone at their feet that spawns in a smaller guardian and after you fight the small one the big one stays the same a statue.

Where to find them reliably? Purple star systems have the highest chance. For best conditions (perfect weather, earth like amd i found 3 within 300u of eachother within 10 mins) look specifically for planets with the description "THE RELIQUARY" for second best look for planets with "relic"in the the title. Calypso Midcentury Modern [Screenshot]

Finally built a base on a floating island. Made a nice little internal bridge across the stream! I tried hanging a landing pad from the underside of the island, but it wouldn’t let me land on it (“not clear”) even when I hung it pretty far down. Had to relocate the parking to the small side island. Work in progress, but come visit! It’s a pretty cool Giant, and my base is near both a portal and a sentinel tower, so feel free to build something in the neighborhood.

I was playing today, and landed on a frozen planet and screen went to this single black center (see below)... and then everything went black... Hey, so how did you guys find the bones on the water world? My scanner wont work under water and its a pain in the ass to try to locate them above the water since they are too far away. Can’t work on Expedition 18 [Question]

I’m pretty new to NMS. Maybe a week and a bit. I wanted to play through some of the storyline first before launching into expedition 18, but I kicked it off and did a couple of steps but it now appears to have disappeared off my secondary missions list. I don’t know what to do to get it back. Can anyone help?

What's with the pirate / griefer attacks on expedition 18 dig sites? [Discussion]

Just started the expedition and on dig sites 1 and 2, the camps were attacked. On dig sites 1, no automated pirate attacking warning on two separate attacks. So, thought these were griefers. Several travellers took flight and knocked them down.

On dig sites 2, pirate warning came. Luckily, few travellers fought them and took them out.

Didn't know that pirate attacks on the dig sites was a feature now.

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I refuse to look things up [Question]

I’m doing my best to discover, find out things, grow, explore, experiment on my own without help of Google etc. But I don’t think it’s cheating much if I ask other astronauts for help every now and then!

I just started, my main concern atm is I have no clue how to find my “collections”. I got my 2nd ship, fixed it to the point I can fly, flew out of render and my ol’ reliable first ship SS Father of Audacity has vanished…same thing happened with my laser gun when I thought I was fixing a broken gun for the alien dude not realizing he was giving it to me…didn’t even get to say goodbye.

So at the moment in my 2nd solar system, discovering new planets, and making a bunch of homes- I also need to know if I will eventually have a storage option to keep stuff at my houses? Right now my ship can only hold so much and I’m tryna get rich at the moment doing dig sites that I haven’t looked too much for drop pods.

Any help/advice would be appreciated! I’m enjoying the game thus far. Haven’t ran into anyone else, don’t think i will anytime soon but there’s so much to do at all times _^

What actually happened to Purple sentinel ships? [Question]

Hello travelers, I wanted to see if anyone knew why the purple sentinel ships disappeared? I mean I’ve done some digging and come to the conclusion that they are all black instead of purple now, which don’t get me wrong I love the black sentinels too, but my dream ship is a purple/black sentinel and they simply don’t exist anymore.

So that begs the question, what happened to the purple ones? Why were they all replaced with black? Was it just a bug but the majority didn’t mind so they left it? Was it a purposeful change? If the latter, why not just add black as an option instead of replacing purple?

Anybody have any theories? Or share the same sadness in not being able to get your favorite color ship?

Fishing cosmetics on alts... [Question]

Hey, so on my last save I unlocked all the fishing cosmetics through earning the titles, not long after I made a new character to play on. My new character shows I have all the fishing titles but if I go to the appearance modifier I can't use the helmets as they are all locked.

I have done at least 3 of the title requirements on my new save and still none of the helmets will unlock for me to use. Please someone tell me how dumb I am and I am missing something really obvious, thanks.

Relics Expedition Dig Site IV Bug [Bug]

So, I'm in the point of the expedition that they're asking me to join them at the Dig Site IV. Okay, I hop on my space ship, I warp to the marked system... The log keeps telling me to hop to the marked system. I hop to another system, then back to the marked one. Still nothing, still being asked to warp to the marked system.

Is this a known bug? Do you guys know how to bypass it? I've both been with multiplayer on and off. I'm starting to become desperate, I've had this bug since yesterday but I thought that turning the game off and on again would maybe fix it, it hasn't been the case.

Troll or no? [Discussion]

Just completed the Relics Expedition. For the most part really chill and enjoyable. There were a few things that I found difficult. 1) The most difficult thing was the water planet at the 4th rendezvous. Were they just trolling us? Apparently there were bones on the planet, but anywhere I landed they were too far away to register. Get into the water and the scanner doesn't search for them any more. Went to a communication ball several hundred feed under the water only to find a lot of balls with people saying they drowned. Went to a random place and just dove, but below 200u got the message that the pressure was so bad that I was using oxygen much more quickly. Never got to the bottom there. Never found bones on that planet. Eventually just went to another rendezvous with a dry planet and found bones there. Was it a troll or could you actually find bones on the water planet?

  1. The "bone broth" recipe. Okay, got the processor. Made bone marrow. But then no instructions on how to make broth with them. Put the marrow together with everything I had. Hell, made bone milk out of bones and tried that. Made bone butter out of the milk and tried that. Finally went to YT and found a 40 second video that showed to make meat from animal flesh and then use that with the marrow. So, two (2) further steps with no instruction at all!? How the hey are we supposed to figure that out, or am I just stupid?

  2. Of course fishing for the bone fish. They gave us bionic lures. And, maybe those would work. And, even finding a place deep enough on the water planet in the rendezvous system. Sheesh! Did find a communication ball at a square island that had a deep enough ocean. Sat on my ship with the bionic lure and got a lot of fish, but no bones. Eventually made a shadow lure. Fished at night and got one on my second try. Luckier than some posts I've seen, but still. Sheesh! ;)

Need tips about ship parts farming [Question]

I conclued the main quest few days ago, got myself a pretty hefty sum of units and nanites, thought I give this shipmaking feature a go. I went the planetary charts way.

Now there was a problem : over the 10 charts I burned farming, I kept getting the three same crashed ships (one of them was a shuttle...). I tried reloading save, no joy.

Is there a way to reset the ship pool ? What do I miss ?

[NMS] One Solution & One Problem [Discussion]

In this Expedition 18, I want to share some of the issues I encountered, the solutions I found, and the problems that still remain unresolved.

■ 1. During one of the expedition missions, there's a task to make Hearty Stock using the Nutrient Processor.

This only works if you disable the “Fast Refiner” mod beforehand.

Even if you try the known workaround — placing cartilage one by one into two separate slots — it doesn’t get recognized at all.

To reiterate, you must disable the Fast Refiner mod (if installed) before attempting the mission.

■ 2. My biggest frustration right now:

After completing the expedition and switching back to my main character, I dug up an Ancient Bone and consumed it, but nothing was added to my inventory.

Could this also be a conflict with one of the mods I’ve installed?

I’m planning to disable all the mods I added at tonight and test again

But if any traveler out there already knows what’s causing this, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the answer.

Incredibly rare Teacup Multitool with side scope [Screenshot]

In the 1000s of Space Stations and Minor Settlements I've been to in my 6000hrs of this game, they are more rare than crystal / horned Experimentals. Not as ultra rare as crystal-nosed Aliens. This is the third one I have ever seen. And yet there it is, in the Xifenqj II system, which is one of the Expedition systems. There is also a red on white Experimental with a yellow back-end; never seen that before.

Is multi-player worth it in April 2025? [Question]

Got the game during the steam space fest last year. I quit after 1h of play because it seemed boring and I didnt know how things work. I recently started playing again and I love the game.

I told my friend about it and he wants to buy it and play together. But I saw some videos and read some other reddits and heard about bugs and other stuff like not being able to share a base or having to be close to your friend to edit the base, issues with shared missions progress, etc.

Would be grateful if someone who played multi-player recently could answer my question.

Is it a bug that when tasked to look for fossils (outside of the expedition) you're almost always sent to systems that have salvageable scrap instead of ancient bones? [Question]

So I finished the expedition and am currently hunting for planets with ancient bones, hoping to find a really pretty one to build a nice digsite base.

You get a quest for finding fossils if it's not your expedition savefile. It tells you to go to the Galaxy map to find a suitable system. I thought, sweet, I'll be directed to the right systems nice and easy. No need for endless system hopping.

...except it's just salvageable scrap 99% of the time. I have a suspicion that this is bugged and salvageable scrap is flagged as a planet where you find fossil by accident.

Either that or the line in the galaxy map I get that isn't the path to the Core is actually NOT the path to a system with ancient bones. Except it is ALWAYS a system with salvageable scrap.

Has anybody else tried finding a suitable system this way?

I gave up on this and went back to my oldest savefile with a freighter to quickly scan all planets in a system and it's insane how low the chances of ancient bones planets is. Like 1 out of 10 systems at best. This got really tedious really fast too.

So if anybody knows how to quickly find planets with ancient bones, let me know!

(I do not just need any planets, I've found about a dozen via freight scans, I'm looking for a specific setup, preferably a desert planet and I haven't found one of those outside the expedition yet. So it's not about not being able to get fossils, it's about finding good looking ancient bones planets, that's why I'm looking for the quickest way to find many such planets.)

PS5 Upgrade - Learn from my fail [Answered]

I've been playing NMS for a few months now and recently got a PS5. Just yesterday I discovered that I can upgrade to the PS5 version for free. I was mega excited to see all the fancy new graphics and potential new gameplay and mechanics.

Imagine my surprise to discover that I had to start the game all over again. The PS4 save is not directly transferred to the PS5 version, so if you find yourself in this position then heed this warning and do the following.

Firstly, don't panic. Your save data will still be there. Just don't do what I did. If you go into your PlayStation settings and access cloud storage you can download your PS4 data, but it will override any existing data that exists (now I have to do half the relics expedition again). What you need to do first is the following:

Step 0 (optional): From the same menu in settings, firstly upload your PS4 save to the cloud, this will ensure that your cloud data is the most recent and if you do then download it you won't lose any progress.

Step 1: Notice that you now have 2 versions of NMS on your console, a PS4 and a PS5 copy. Open the PS4 copy, go to load your game and select the "Enable Cross Save" button.

Step 2: Follow the on screen instructions that will direct you to a website (you will likely need another device for this, I used my phone as it gives you a QR code). On the site you'll link your account to Hello Games servers to enable you to upload your progress in a format that can be downloaded to other platforms.

Step 3: Wait. The cross save feature isn't fully developed yet so there are a limited number of people who can actually use it. The most likely message you'll see is that the feature is full, so you'll have to try again later.

Step 4: ???? I haven't got this far yet. I'm still waiting for a space to open up. I've looked at a couple of other posts in forums about this and the results are...

So I started a Nexus quest that required me to get faecium, it told me to go to a certain planet and feed creatures to get their droppings, problem is, none of them were dropping ANYTHING. Still searching for home [Meme]

I am an admittedly picky person and every update my idea of what my final home planet/system will be definitely changes. Of course the biggest thing (that I didn't list on my meme) is I don't want neighbors lol Which means I can't even really ask for help finding it beyond husband who is also searching.

I also don't want red/orange water nor yellow/orange grass. White grass is the top tier omg-I-won-the-lotto option. At one point glowing was required but I dropped that if it had lunch jungle or forest features.

Anyone else find themselves as picky as I am?

Cool Creatures for us means nonstandard pool of randomly generated. So think tentacles, wheels, ground speeder dudes, rideable fliers, the bone or plant critters, geometric dudes, orbs, ECT.

hey y’all — so i made a base on Ligart Prime for the bonefish phase of the relics expedition and would love for yall to come check out my bones and catch your fishes in a safe space…

just head down the stairs by the swimmin fishes to get to the fishing hole. the depth varies in the hole from about 40–69u — i’ve had the best results aiming around the fish trap, which sits around 60u deep. outside the base, you can find deeper spots up to 99u. you WILL catch a bonefish here. last night i had 9 bionic lures and pulled 2 whispering bonefish from the hole in less than 15 minutes. S and A class fish are also fairly common.

the base is called “bone fishes & bone statues… sqwee sqwad” coords: +32.13, -133.99 glyphs are in the last screenshot!

along with my awesome bone exhibits from the expedition, there are a few lil amenities too — 2 landing pads, a trade terminal, base terminus, 4 nutrient processors, a nautilon platform, appearance modifier, and a bit of nippy nips for those who partake… there’s also a sunken freighter not too far away!

The Starship acquisition problem [Discussion]

Maybe it's just me, but lately it seems the game has been doing everything in its power to make buying and building custom Starships as difficult as possible. The latest NPC landing bug has amplified this problem significantly(it still hasn't been fixed for me btw), but it was already getting pretty hard. Distress signal maps go to more abandoned buildings than anything else, and on the rare occasion you do get an ACTUAL distress signal half of them are NPC rescues missions now. Going the inhabited outpost route means going to multiple different types of outpost until you get to a transmission tower which is just as time consuming. Is anyone else experiencing this or is the game punishing me specifically?

Help disabling Nvidia ngx. my no mans sky game wont launch cause of it [Bug]

like in the above i wrote. Cause of that NGX updater it causes the ucrtbase.dll fault to appear and the game wont launch. i have tried clean install windows nvidia drivers, c++ visual libraries. Only reason im saying this is cause its the only thing on the task manager that appears before the game fails to launch. is ther a way to disable nvidia NGX please help

Hey fellow PC Travellers/Interlopers. I have a quick question about take pics with the in game camera. When I take one I get the popup notification at the bottom for a screenshot along with the audible queue from steam for when you take a SS the normal way. Relics bug [Bug]

Has anyone else experienced a bug where every checkpoint in every phase “completed” after reaching the first one? I now can’t travel through the expedition path in the galactic map as it thinks I’ve already completed them… seem that I can’t do the other tasks now as well because they are all tied to their checkpoint location eg submit x skeleton to phase x checkpoint… hoping someone knows of a work around as I doubt it can be fixed. Be good to know if there was a way to restart the expedition? Thanks

Exploring Abandoned mode [Discussion]

I've travelled to over a hundred systems and many of their planets and have only encountered two with fauna.

At first I didn't know this planet had fauna as I was desparately mining for minerals, then I heard them. I was astounded by their sounds - the peels of the flying, the grunts of the land bound.

Awesome.

I have over 1500 hours in my main save with life on every planet, just about anyway, so when I heard the familiar sounds of life it was like OMG. Life!! I really hope that this mode gets some updates. It is truly wonderful to play this way.

Can my friends freely join on my saved game? [Question]

So im brand new to no mans sky on a normal save. I am starting to fall in love with this game and the planets. My friends also now want to start playing it. So i guess my question is, if i already started my story line and I got my base and teleporter. Can my friend join my session and just start playing? Or should he first do his story to a certain point where we can meet up and play the story together?

I’m having trouble with ship spawns [Bug]

Whenever I create a new game and I go to a space station I can never get any ships to spawn in no matter what and for trade posts and even on my 87:42 game where I put a lot of work into I can’t seem to get ships to spawn in and I don’t know how to fix this

Fossil displays on freighter [Question]

So it seems I can't place them in the botanical expansion room, atleast not on the floor, I'm able to place them floating and halfway through a wall,

A solution to your sentinel problem [Suggestion]

So fellow traveler, You’ve been looking for ages, countless hours spent going from world to world trying to find that perfect spot to build your new chalet. Finally, you land on a place covered in serene waters with picturesque mountains looming in the distance. Overhead you see the planets and stars looking down on you, and then a regal looking creature approaches you, it’s demeanor calm and welcoming. You feed it some pellets, content that this is the place to settle down at last.

Then an angry red light erupts behind you and you hear the rattling buzz of the horde of murderous machines streaming down the hill, intent on your destruction.

Thankfully, dear friends, there is now an easy and permanent solution for this problem that I implemented on my new lakeside cabin and wanted to toss out there to people that are maybe unaware that this works.

Step 1. Locate a sentinel nest. This can be done by defeating the level 5 walker on a planet, which will show you the nearest location. You can also use a sentinel boundary map to locate a nest.

Step 2. Go to the nest and immediately slap down a base computer. Then find the interface console. Select the deactivate sentinels option and then Bam! no more sentinels, right…? We’ll, Sort of. You’ll have a great time sentinel free for a while, but after you log off, next time you visit, the sentinels are back, mad as ever.

Step 3. Fortunately, you can go back to the same nest and deactivate the sentinels again. As far as I know, there is no limit to how many times you can use the same nest to shut them down. Now just build a portal next to the interface console and your good to go. I built a simple structure around mine so I never even have to go outside. You are now able to effortlessly shutdown all sentinels on the planet at will in 30 seconds and never have to think about them ever again.

Step 4. Bask...

Please Help [Question]

I've been playing NMS on my Nintendo Switch for a while now its starting to get glitchy. So I decided to start a new game with Steam on my MacBook Air. I tried playing with the keys but it's annoying and will take me a while to get used to.

I have been trying to connect my Joy Cons and I'm having issues. They are connected via Bluetooth to my PC. They work with Steam but as soon as I start the NMS the joycons won't work. I've been watching video after video and searching through different forums to figure this out. But nothing has worked. •I have turned my PC and Steam on and off multiple times •I have un-installed and re-installed NMS •I have reset all the controls •I have enabled Steam input •no beta is selected •when I test the joycons they work •Joycons work perfectly with Steam but still nothing with NMS

I will add that I'm not very tech savvy. I'm new to gaming and have fallen in love with No Man's Sky. What am I missing??? Please help!

Is it normal to lose Gek standing when looting sentinel capital ships? [Question]

I was doing a mission and got into a battle with sentinels. Decided to make use of it and get an AI fragment. When the capital ship showed up, I noticed it had cargo pods. Free goodies, I thought. But when I started looting them, I saw a message "Gek standing decreased by x2." After that it popped up "Outlaw standing increased by x2."

I was confused, this is the first time I see these messages. "This is a sentinel ship, right?" Yep, sentinel capital ship.

Did they introduce a new standing mechanic or is this some bug?

Help [Question]

Started a new save and done the questline to jump galaxies and autophage quest hasnt triggered but the autophage was showing at the start of my game but It won't show me the autophages or the tech any iidea why I've played and done automated on another save but haven't manages to trigger it this time round and I've played it on normal and tries with and without multilayer I know there is an update due soon to fix ships not appearing in space stations freighter and trade outpost will that update fix this issue?

I was liking this planet, named it Palaven (Turian homeworld from Mass Effect), it looked nice and had no problem so far, that untill I started planing my base and a huge gravity... anomaly? Started right in the place I was building :( How do I live here with these "Tornados" ???

Couple of upgrade module questions [Question]

Hey all - Fairly new to the game.
I'm playing on Relaxed mode on macOS.

I'm wondering why no merchant knows what upgrades they sell for exosuits and stuff.

All upgrade modules are "You don't know what it does until you install it, but probably something to do with jetpack fuel." (or whatever category it applies to)

Why would I spend 500 nanites on that? Why can't I know what I buy before buying it?
Why can't I see what an upgrade does when I store it in my inventory after using it?

Several times now I bought an S class upgrade mod only to find out it gives me a 1% scan range improvement, or a 5% jetpack fuel boost or other fairly useless crap like that.

So my questions:

Does this get better as I get better? Is there a module or unlock or anything that makes buying upgrade modules less of a gamble?

And, where do I buy or find the actual modules. Like a new gun attachment for the multitool or protective system for my suit. All I ever see is upgrade modules. For example for the Geology cannon. But where do I get the actual cannon from?

And also, I found an upgrade module that improves toxic resistance, it needs to be charged with a mineral (ammonia or something) or a battery. Then I bought another one, different name, exactly the same description and charge item. Same icon, but different name.
Are they the same module? Or do they do different things? I stared at and compared stats and things but it seems to make no difference having them both active.

Is there a way to find a location I was at in the logs? [Question]

Long story short, I found a great Interceptor I wanted to share. I placed a com unit there and saved the pics, including the glyphs. I thought I knew the galaxy, and I went to bed.

This morning, I tried to find it, and have had no luck. I have gone to every portal in every galaxy I have a base in - which I think is all the galaxies I can visit or have visited - and the glyphs do not take me to that planet.

It must be a Dissonant planet of course. I dug through the discoveries and found one that I did visit yesterday, i was able to get there, and it wasn't that one.

I am flummoxed at how this can be - I can only visit a handful of galaxies, yet I have completely struck out. I really want to share this ship, but I have to figure out the galaxy.

Is there some way in the logs or some other trick I can use to figure out where those glyphs lead to?

Is there any way around the base limit for uploads? [Question]

Console player here. I've visited player bases that have to be way above the limit. I know save editing is a thing (on PC, anyway) but does that overcome the uploadable limit? How?? And with the new cross-save feature, could you theoretically overbuild your base, edit your save on PC, and then pick it back up on your console with the edited, overbuilt base save intact? I figure that's gotta be the case with those big player bases, right??

Learning to Build..ah? i fish through the floor and walls? Huh? [Screenshot]

Okay. Learning to build, trying to create a base above water to fish from. (waves are deadly). So, in my inept way, i made the base on the ocean floor, added things to go up. Added glass cubes on the floor base..and I can safely catch fish inside my glass cube build and also through the floor? Zero environment problems...

Did the Gek create the "Horrific Flesh-Helmet" for the Korvax? [Discussion]

In the Gek archives and in the main story, it's revealed that part of the First Spawn's subjugation of the Korvax involved using appearance modifiers to make them look biological in nature. Given that both the flesh-helmet and the Korvax are cyclopic, it seems likely that the flesh-helmet was the product of that endeavor.

Help choosing a base location [Discussion]

About 30-45 minutes of warping later, I have found 3 planets which I like but I am not sure which I should choose. I have attached the planet info and the location where I decided (on a quick glance, might change the locations) to build my base. I am more drawn to planet 2 and 3. I am thinking of like a base on an island in the middle of nowhere, where you could just sit down to enjoy the scene.

• Planet 1 has these kinda floating islands on the water which I like, but the plants and the atmosphere gives this toxic planet feels which I am not a fan of. • Planet 2 has these bright blue ocean which I like a lot and most of the islands where also very flat but they do lack vegetation. • Planet 3 has the nice blue ocean like planet 2 but just like planet 2 it is lacking in vegetation on the islands but the weather is great according to the planet info so I am more inclined towards this more than the others. This planet also gives me that "sit down and relax" kinda environment.

Having a weird issue with multiplayer [Bug]

Coming here because I don't know where else to turn after scouring the internet for answers. As the title says, my friends and I have encountered a weird bug. The four of us are trying to play together, and for three of us there's no issue, but my fourth friend will join the party, and then disconnect after about a minute or two. We've tried maybe a dozen times, to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a Few bases that are pretty close to a Friends base, and My wife and I regularly build close together. But for the past few days I cannot see her base and see cannot see mine unless we are both online and it takes a while for either bases to render in. But if she is at work and I come hope early I want to add to my base I cant see hers. I go to NMS Coordinates exchange and I cannot see anyone else base either... What's going on?

the other day the teleporters were letting me teleport between outlaw stations but now i have to use the anomaly as an inbewteen and it really kills my travel time, has anyone else experienced this?
