Malfunction [Bug]

Completed the expedition last week, started with a C-class hauler(named it starbug) got the S-class living ship (the wraith) reward and today loaded up my save and somehow my ships have merged...I now have an S-class "living hauler", which I find cool but I lost all my cargo. :(

Why is my base transparent to my friend? [Question]

Recently me and my friend started playing together and each of us made his own base, at first we both could see each other's bases but now it just disappeared, I can't see his, and he can't see mine.

TIFU with my save file [Question]

I fucked up real bad. My 80 hours of gameplay just disappeared T_T. Today was the first time I saw a post that you can use nomnom save editor to edit your save files and thought hmm I started playing this game just a while ago but using this I can get all expedition awards. So here I was trying nomnom to edit my save file. But there was no effect in my game. I tried to get expedition rewards but it was still not available so I thought hmm lets try something else, so I just went and added 20k nanites just to test. But still no effect. And then my brain thought what if I start nomnom in offline mode and then I edit and then start the game itself too in offline mode. But obviously after I started nomnom and edited there was no option for save the account because I was offline so I just saved the normal save file and then started nms and lo and behold my 80 hours of gameplay was gone. I then quit the game and once again started nomnom but there too was no save file or even a proof that the file existed. ANd although the game was connected with xbox the game itself was cracked so I can't even go to xbox to restore my save file because according to microsoft I don't even own the game. Now I am just depressed. Just 2 hours ago I made another post about dream aerial and how I finally got it and that now I'm gonna grind and get the living frigates but now here I am contemplating the result of my greed. If there is any way that you all could think of somehow saving my file please help. Thanks anyways and if I don't get back my save file I'm most likely not going to play the game for a long while because I just can't bear to do all that again.

Low FPS on RTX 3090 + 5700X3D – Any Suggestions? [Question]

Hey everyone,

I'm experiencing lower-than-expected FPS on my setup and wondering if I’m doing something wrong or if there are any tweaks I should try.

Specs: GPU: RTX 3090 (Latest Drivers) CPU: Ryzen 5700X3D RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Monitor: 4K 144Hz (G-Sync OFF) Settings: Ultra (DLSS Balanced)

My FPS goes around 90 FPS in No Man's Sky, which feels a bit low for this hardware. However, in Hogwarts Legacy (Ultra, RT OFF), I get 125+ FPS constant, which seems more in line with expectations.

Are there any settings, BIOS tweaks, or optimizations I should try?

Help. Sentinel banks like a school bus [Build]

Modules are... A class photo icon core, 38 Maneuver, 44 boost. X class pirate..................47 Maneuver, 63 boost. X class pirate..................50 Maneuver, 62 boost. X class pirate..................50 Maneuver, 59 boost. Flight assist override...........................11 Maneuver.

Flight assist next to supercharged 4 square, all others in SC slots. Maneuver is almost at 4k, but that barrel roll takes 2-3 seconds. Not good for pvp dogfight.

There's this one player that turns like crazy ( we rp as humans as cylons ) And want to even the odds a little. I'm good in SW squadrons and know dogfighting and drifting.

Any tips to find visited system? [Question]

Yeah. I know I should check discovery menu. I also know there is a button to make it as custom waypoint. But what it makes me frustrating is: It appears neither in space station portals nor in galaxy map. I also read a trick to use wonder system, But unfortunately there were no planets discovered. What should I do? Just traveling as if someday it'll be discovered?

Different Saves and Base Visibility to other players [Question]

Hi Everyone,

I just recently hit the build limit and was thinking of starting another save.

My understanding is Save 1 can't see Save 2's bases, but my question are:

If Save 1 and Save 2 build bases in different systems can another player see both or only my active save?

If Save 1 and Save 2 build bases in the same system, but different planets can another player see both or only my active save?

Lost Settlement and Expedition indicators [Bug]

Somehow, my main save no longer shows settlement and expedition status in the ESC menu, nor do the popups arrive at the bottom of the screen... I think this happened after I went offline for a while during the recent expedition... Any way to get them back other than abandoning both settlement and freighter?

Can’t Use Some Base Parts In Finished Expedition [Question]

I have everything completed and accepted through the final reward so other base parts like the stone buildings are available to build once I purchase them, but I can’t seem to build certain base parts like ruin pieces or lighting. I don’t want to leave the expedition just yet, I want to finish a nice base for people to use. Are they just limiting what types of base pieces you can build during the expedition? Can you not use all types of base part on rendezvous worlds? Am I missing something else?

Graphics Quality Issue on High-End Setup: Any Suggestions? [Bug]

Hey everyone,

I’ve been struggling with getting No Man’s Sky to look as good as it does in videos from other players. I’m running the game on a pretty solid setup - an RTX 4070 Super and an i5 13th Gen - with all graphics settings cranked up to ULTRA, yet the visuals still look quite underwhelming.

Performance-wise, everything runs smoothly without any frame drops, but the graphics quality is just not there. Additionally, I’ve noticed that vegetation only generates when I’m really close to the ground when entering a planet, which breaks immersion. Sometimes, planets appear gray from space, even though they turn out to be colorful and full of water once I land - without any clouds in the sky to explain the discrepancy.

All my drivers are up to date, so I’m not sure where the issue might lie. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have suggestions on how to fix it?

Hello!

I recently learned about NMS (yes I know I’m a decade late) but I have grown absolutely obsessed with it. For the past few weeks I’ve been watching every non-spoiler video about it and I am so excited to buy it!

Problem is, I’m a little tight on funds right now 😅 (I am broke). $60 is a bit steep for me and while I believe the game deserved that much and then some, I simply can’t afford it. I know the game frequently goes on sale for $30 which is much more reasonable for me, so yall know when that will be?

Hey all, so i recently got back into the game and im having a hard time understanding the portals and glyphs. I have all the glyphs, main story complete. I wanted to use the portal to jump around and find some cool ships finally, but when i use the portal i just get a corrupted location and it teleports me somewhere completely random. Would love an update to freighters [Discussion]

As of right now there really isn't enough of a reward to make it all worth it. Finding even a decent freighter takes hours unless you're lucky and unlocking upgrades takes 100 times that. Selection is pretty slim as well and you can only find capital ships when they're begin attacked which happens once ebery 3 hours (correct me if I'm wrong here).
Would be really cool if you actually could visit a retailer or play a longe questline for frighters and really build your own starfleet. They already have a system where frigates become better the more expeditions you send them on which is super cool. I actually want to find C classes because seeing them becoming better and better feels really nice. They could have a system where your frighters class is determined by your avarage class over the entire fleet or something. What are your guys thoughts?

LET US REPLAY EXPEDITIONS SEAN!!!!!! [Suggestion]

I swapped over to PS5 after my PS4 started going to shit. Ive lost everything, as I cant transfer my save over to the PS5 version. 500 hour save just gone.. all my expedition rewards and rare ships. My S class freighter and all the frigates...

Sean needs to let us replay the expeditions by choice. Not just one at the end of the year. I started durring the first few expeditions and I'm really sad new players/saves miss out on all of the previous expeditions. WHY SEAN WHYYYYY😭😭😭

Man, the storylines in this game are just depressing... [Discussion]

Atlas (and by extension, the universe) is dying, and a good chunk of your base staff have been shunned by their society. One of them had their family killed and is literally using nanites like drills to numb the pain. I've yet to reach the Galactic core, so I can't speak on how it ends, but yikes.

Finished the home build! [Build]

Alright, my first home is complete (first not counting the box I made seven years ago trying to get shelter).

I powered through it last night while the family was sleeping. I can manage on a couple hours sleep so it was worth the time.

Absent are a bathroom and kitchen area. I thought about adding those but things are starting to get clustered. Plus, I’ve yet to see my guy use a restroom.

Realistically, those two parts of the build are above my talent level. I’ve seen the builds on here with very detailed restrooms and kitchens. I don’t believe that’s in my future.

This video is a couple minutes longer than my last post, and I’ll post pics in the NMSbases subreddit. So, it will be easier to pick things apart.

In stellar multitudes, am I boned? [Question]

Created my gas giant and it showed it to me. Couldn't fly to it yet because I needed the atlantid drive, figured it would bring me back there easily. So I make the purple drive and now my quest says to return to my planet. But I can't find it anywhere. I've read that people can make sure it's the targeted quest and use the maps lines to follow to it but I don't even have the lines. Tried restarting multiple times. Just stuck on the quest like that. Any help would be appreciated!

Any Agreed Upon Base Naming Conventions? [Question]

I recently returned from a 3 year hiatus to a 400hr save. I have tons of bases built in areas where I would ship farm. Obviously, those are no longer relevant, so I’m going through the ~70 bases I stationed, and some have good refining capabilities, some are just a literal portal for ship hunting.

Does anyone have a META naming convention so that I can list exactly what I have on each base? (If I’m looking for uranium, I obviously can’t type out every resource in a base name)

I was thinking of putting elemental symbols, but I figured this must be a topic within the community. When you have 100 bases, what is the best way to know where to find what?

Refiners always empty! [Bug]

I know refiners on freighters suck and the stuff in them disappears all the time (it's happened to me a bunch of times with runaway mold), so I've stopped using them unless I am standing there the whole time. I have 16 other refiners on planet bases, and stuff is disappearing from them now as well! Has anyone else experienced this with their base refiners? Beyond reporting the bug, I'm not sure what to do... Ideas?

Trying to find a planet for crush zone is KILLING me. [Question]

The deepest ocean I've been able to find his capped at 900u. And when I tried using the terrain modifier to dig deeper, I hit the hard limit that planet at 940u. I've been jumping from system to system and searching for 2 hours. I don't suppose anybody has some coordinates or something?

Expedition rewards unobtainable? [Question]

I just started playing again after years of taking a break from the game, and I was exploring around ship building. I noticed that there was the wings, and cockpit to make a close approximation to the Milano, which has maybe my favorite ship design ever. The thing is, that requires the Iron Vulture cockpit, which I’ve seen is behind expedition 13, while we are currently on 17. So is there no way for me to ever be able to get that cockpit? Because that’s also the only hauler cockpit that’s actually unique. All the rest are just variations on the same thing

More companions and interactions ? [Suggestion]

So hear me out. A zone/ section similar to a bio dome on the space station/ nexus where you can bring out your companions full size and have more interaction with them(fetch, tricks, mingle) featuring the egg sequencer as-well as an area to customize your companion creatures. Potentially introduce a breeding system between them allowing for egg production in these area using a random combination of features of the two creatures. A place to highlight and show off some of the creatures as-well as see stats.

Could also make selling creatures you’ve added to your companions list a viable option for making money, various price ranges based off type, rarity, size and production(milk,grease) encouraging planetary search and creature discovery,

Also in this bio dome/area feature a large water tank in which we can feature some of the underwater creatures we have encountered and sell them introducing reason so have the ability to add water creatures to our list.

Doing this would add reason to have an addition to base building; an aquarium! Allowing to to build a tank to feature some of the cool aquatic life you have encountered

In the nexus area/ bio dome have two small sections(land and water) dedicated to keeping creatures between saves, allowing to showcase and save creatures, this may allow you to transfer an animal from one save to another

Ive played alot of this game and I’ve missed a few expeditions but im getting back into it so unsure if anything like this has been added but let me know your opinions:) hope everyone has a great day!

Okay so I have a main save file with a bunch of the expeditions rewards, but I wanted to start a new save. So I started my new save got off the planet and to the first quest at the Anomaly. I picked up all my expedition rewards, but the ships I had didnt show up except for the newest one?

Do you have to do a certain number of quests before they show up?

Ships/technologies [Question]

Something i’ve been kinda stuck on since the beginning. When yall get a new ship, do you buy all new tech for it, or swap the tech from your current ship? do you use one at a time or have a few you switch through?

I’m currently using a sentinel ship bc i like its power usage/warping abilities. I have a few other ships i like but i legit don’t use them because i can’t decide if it’s more worth it to move all my tech and inventory (a hassle??) or buy all new stuff for it. Just curious what everyone here does to manage this :)

Planet scan not matching discoveries or visor scan. [Question]

Hi!

So I recently started playing. Really enjoying it.

I just got to my second system hoping to find a paradise planet to build a base on as others have suggested. The scan from my ship said one was (Paradise planet, Copper etc and no listen sentinel activity)

But after landing my discoveries tab is saying otherwise. Also my visor scan on the ground says the same as the discoveries tab (Bountiful planet, Sentinels: Threatening)

Am I going to have to continue to search for another or is this some bug? I did see 2 Sentinels around some sort of manufacturing outpost too.

Exploring and treasure hunting in the game [Question]

Hello,

I had maybe around 20-30 hours in the game years ago, now I want to try it again. I basically want to do one simple thing, go random planets and look for treasures.

I am not sure what do I mean by treasures but basically I want to be able to find an item and sell it with good price then maybe upgrade my ship and character.

Is this possible? Is this a valid thing you can do in game? If it is possible, how? What do I need?

No Man’s Sky unplayable visual glitch - PLS HELP [Bug]

Does anyone know why this is happening to my game and/or how I can fix this? Every time I log into my save, my screen just freaks out with random flashing colors. I can move around normally and all the sounds are the same, but my screen is just completely broken. My save is 150+ hours and I’d really like to fix this. If I had to start over I probably wouldn’t play the game anymore.

Just finished Titan. Now what? [Question]

Ok, new player here. I just finished Titan Expedition. But I'm confused.

I started on a new save because I didn't know if you can start on existing one. I assumed the stuff I got during the expedition would transfer. Somehow? 🤷‍♂️

I reclaimed the rewards from the Quicksilver merchant, but the stuff I had in that save (ship, cargo, freighter) didn't transfer.

Is that normal? Are they lost to the Save Eaters? Can I somehow recover all that stuff?

Hey if you are starting Titan expedition upon completing the last mission don't end the expedition cause you might be pretty far from being able to explore purple systems in your main save. [Information]

Finished the expedition and naively thought once I am back to my main save I would be able to explore purple systems. I was wrong and after browsing the sub I am now realizing I need to grind 30 ish hours of story before I can begin exploring purple systems (I have 123 hours in game). I barely touched the main story Atlas/Artemisia missions so I am pretty behind and honestly feeling frustrated. The game's story was never its strongest suite and baffles me that developers would dangle completely new addition to the game in front of my face and then just place it behind a story wall. Unfortunately I ended expedition and no longer have access to the save because, once again, I thought there would be no need for me to return to the save since I thought the purple systems would be readily available. There is a warning that pops up when you merge saves but I wish it would had said that you need to progress further into the story to have access to the content of the expedition. So far a popular work around to access the purple systems early than the quest missions did not work for me (I think it was patched).

So it seems the only way to engage with purple systems is by not ending expedition or finishing a very tedious main story. As of right now the game says the Titan Expedition will be available for 4 weeks and what happens to your expedition saves after that I dont know. Just thought I post it as a warning and let out a steam a little.

Ex 17 water worlds [Question]

Does anyone know how to find a water world? I remember seeing one during phase 2 but I lost the planet and don’t know how to get back. Regardless, I’ve been obvious searching for systems marked with “water” as the description, but cannot find anything deep enough.

I can't figure out where to go. [Question]

I was ignoring the story line till I got a decent ship and I've got a salvaged one and then I saw an alien one and wanted it. So I did the entire starbirth line until the portal and couldn't find a portal. Well I did the main story to unlock the portal and topped half way through. Now that I'm playing again I can't find the mission system and it won't let me restart. What do I do??? I've been looking for 4 hours.

Freighter large refiner issue [Bug]

I'm technically done with the Titan expedition, but I've done something wrong. I didn't correctly chronicle rendezvous two. Not only did I not properly photograph it, but I guess I didn't "trigger it" either. I cannot locate it in the galactic map, not does it appear in the teleporter. I finally decided to just return to R1 and just warp to R2, but the galactic map doesn't have the expedition path anymore. Is there another way to locate R2?

Help with the Autophagy line [Question]

Ok, I completed the Traces of Metal mission, I have the staff, I met the Autophage that goes through space that seems like some kind of anomaly (I don't remember the name) I got the Atlantis Engine and I managed to visit a purple system, revealing hidden systems. And now I don't know what else I have to do... but the autophage appearance option hasn't been unlocked yet. What am I forgetting? Any advice?

100 Pirates out of nowhere!!! [Question]

So I was on my way back from the planet to the freighter when all of a sudden I got a distressed signal, followed up with hostile incoming. I fight off the two Pirates, which is usually all I get and then I look at the map and there’s 100 red blips All of a sudden. My screen is filled with shots everywhere and it is impossible to evade due to the sheer number and direction of all the shots was this a bug or is this intentional?

I had my first jump scare [Discussion]

I was finishing up the expedition when I go to a space station. This one was bugging out. It was a bunch of expedition ships in it but all the owners were NPC's. I go up the stairs to the teleporter. I decide to go back to my ship and as I turn the corner.... a shadow and electricity! It was another traveler just standing there. It scared the poop outta me. I literally had to go to the bathroom after I gained my composure lol.

Questlines are too directed [Discussion]

I know everyone plays differently, and I'm not trying to harsh anyone's idea of fun. But it's my firm opinion that most of the game's quests would be vastly improved if they didn't come with location requirements. Obviously, the pirate system and downed sentinel ship quests need to hold the player's hand to the next system, but for the rest? I dunno, man, there's a holoterminal in every system. There's an archive in every system. I can find uranium in any system. The lore is leading us to put as many ly in our rearview as possible, so why make us warp back to our home base to find an abandoned building one system away fifteen times? I set myself the (frankly ludicrous) rule of 100% fauna discovery and at least 80% flora and mineral discovery for every planet in every system I visit, so completing these quests puts a serious damper on how fast I make it to the center of the galaxy, or to the next Atlas system. I know they're optional and I could just ignore them, but it seems like a simple fix to make engaging with the content provided less of a hassle.

Havent played a lot but from what Ive seen, every Planet is as barren as in the first Days and the Creatures look largely the same as on any other Planet. Is there something I'm not seeing here? I read everywhere the Game has become great over Time but all I see is the same broken Game I've seen Years ago. I was really exited to see what all the Fuss was about but was really disappointed in the End.

Worlds 2 hasn’t started for me yet [Question]

So I’m not really sure what is supposed to be happening for me at this point. I progressed through the main story kinda fast due to some generous friends who gave me more money and annoyed than I could ever spend… But I went through the whole Atlas scenario, created all the colored ball things which made the starseed. What I don’t recall is ever being told to build the starseed and put it in my exosuit. So I progressed through, made the choice to NOT reset the Atlas (because I didn’t really understand what would happen and assumed the game would be over). I ended up on a rando planet and had to find my ship, and then was rewarded with the Atlantideum hyperdrive and am able to access all color systems. Problem is, I’m now stuck with no main story missions. Anomaly says to do missions for the Nexus, new beginnings says to enjoy the universe, and the atlas says to share wonders.

Im wondering if there are side missions that like the settlement and base computer stuff that need to be progressed before Worlds 2 will engage? Idk.

Someone please tell me what’s happening here. Thanks

Just a thought that popped into my mind at work, do any planets have what would be considered trueish to earth kind of weather? I know the storms tend to be extreme and im fine with that but i think it would be cool to see on some of the "paradise" planets have hurricanes or whatever.

Newer player here. Just hit about 125 hours, caught this around my 85th hour. Found my first paradise planet. Managed to snag this peaceful photo and almost immediately built a base after the sun went down. Now I can see this anytime I want. I always play with Spotify on and the music made the moment. Doing Expedition 17. Stuck in a system with no copper. What do I do? [Question]

I am doing expedition 17, and need to repair my hyperdrive so I can leave this system. There is no copper on the gas giant, or any of its 5 moons.

What do I do? I’ve tried searching for downed ships and can’t find a single one. I’ve gone to the galactic terminals on peoples bases and no copper for sale. The space station that spawned into my system is derelict.

I brought back the wrong multitool from Titan [Question]

It's my first playthrough of the game (even now not even 24 hours in), and I just finished titan expidition. I went back to the terminal to finish, and when I realized I could take back tech, I wanted to bring the scanner upgrades. Since I just got the staff from the expidition that's what I had equipped, and I swapped it. I took of the tech, but it in the terminal excited that I just finished my first mission this early. Then I clicked end mission and felt relief that i can finally go back to main save. I make it back, see my old ship, but want to also redeem the Wraith and titan pillar multitool. I get to the terminal, and it BROUGHT BACK THE BASIC MULTITOOL. Since I didn't swap it, and now I have the bad one. Do I have to redo the whole expidition to get it back or what, please help. 🙏

Boy, the game looks really different at high graphics settings [Discussion]

I know, obviously it would. But I'd been so used to having things turned down on my old M1 MacBook Air to get any kind of decent frame rate that's it's kind of shocking to run it at "Ultra" with 3024x1964 on my new M4 Pro MacBook. I guess 5 years of iteration on the GPU makes a big difference.

And yes, this computer is obviously overkill for NMS. I bought it for software development and music, so don't worry - it'll get some proper use.

I'll be sure to post some screenshots later, but I'll probably just warp around and just look at things again for a while :-)

Beginner tips? [Question]

Just as the title says, I just redownloaded the game. I had it before but got overwhelmed with the the beginning....I want to get into it. It looks so much fun and I know if I can just get over the heap, I'll have a blast. Any tips? I usually don't play these games due to the mining and crafting overwhelming me but I did enjoy the casual and sandbox mode but even then I still feel lost. My 80 hour save just got deleted along with two other saves. Any hope? [Bug]

I was doing the Titan expedition. Computer bugged out and froze. Couldn’t ALT F4, literally couldn’t do anything so I held the power button and shut it down. When I tried to launch the game again it said it failed to initialize storage. I deleted the Xbox app, redownloaded and that let me launch the game, but my save is gone.

expedition save, missing the terrain manipulator blueprint [Bug]

So my new main save (coming back to the game after not player for a while, wanted a fresh start) started out as an expedition 17 save, turned "normal" save after I finished the expedition. I have since finished the main quest lines as well.

I just noticed that I don't have the terrain manipulator blueprint (all the multi-tools I've used so far just happened to already have one). I'm trying to outfit my newly upgraded to s-class royal multi-tool but I can't make the terrain manipulator.

For whatever reason, the main quest line never gave me the blueprint!

So, anyone have suggestions? (other then just selvage them from other tools forever)

p.s: I'm also unable to start the newest quest line "In Stellar Multitudes" on this save. All this really sucks because I do NOT want to abandon this save, I've put 80 hours into it, and gotten stuff I don't want to lose.

C Class Pirate Dreadnought has more slots and better stats than A class regular freighter? Is this normal? [Question]

My A-class regular Freighter had 19 inventory slots and only a small number of technology slots. I just won a battle with my first pirate dreadnought, it was C-class and it's got 28 inventory and I think 20 tech slots? And it's got much further warp distance and better stats around the board.

What's up with that, is this normal and are dreadnoughts just better freighters? I took it, I can always replace it or upgrade it but it looked too cool to pass up on, even being C-class (though it's still better than my old one).

I played the expedition with another weapon and somehow the game didn't give me the rewards to my main account.

Now all I see is an option to copy the multi tool I used. Is there a way to get pillar of titan staff to my main game now?

Crossplay or only cross save? No man’s sky [Question]

My partner and our bestfriends have PlayStation5 and I of course am the odd man out and I have a a Nintendo switch. I heard there was a huge update to this game and cross play is possible?? We’ve played and remix grounded and we play Fornite but having grounded to switch to when that would rage bait one of us was nice now we are searching for something new. We tried ARK but misread 😭😭 and I’m left out. So basically can anyone confirm or deny if we’d all be able to play this together or know of any games other than Fornite and grounded? preferably along the lines of grounded, ark type deal. Increase Nanites buying and returning on a space station [Information]

Sorry if this is old news, but I only noticed today.

Basically if you have good standing with the various races in NMS, you get discounts on technology upgrade modules in the space station. For me this discount is 50%

I noticed if I buy any modules at this discounted price and sell them back, they are paying about 50% more nanites than I paid.

This seems to be across the board from any vendor. I cleaned out about 5 stations before moving onto something else.

Anyway, that’s what I learned today at 3am when I couldn’t get back to sleep and NMS happened.

Hey fellow travelers. Short backstory; I got the game (ps4/ps5) at release 2016 and played it a lot. But it was dead. I was alone, never saw another player but I had a good time, despite all the reviews and critique it got at first. Found planets, named them etc.. Stopped playing after a while.

I somehow found this subreddit and I enjoy scrolling through it. So I thought well, game is in my library. Might check it out again. To my surprise I was able to play on my old save. 44 hours played or so. I realise now that’s not a lot, but it was back then when game was empty lol.

I started at a space station and saw like 3 other players. I hid behind my starship. I have no idea if this game is pvp or not. They didn’t care about me so I carefully crawled out and saw the shop plaza with npcs I never seen before. Back then it was only the galactic terminal from what I remember.

Anyway, next thing I was looking at was my ship. It is decent I believe. It’s worth like 50mil. And it’s filled with stuff I don’t have a clue about what they are. I went to the closest planet but got no idea what to do. What do people do in this game nowadays?

It’s so much new stuff so I’m debating if I should start over to get a grip on the whole gameplay again. Or if it’s possible to start from where I am.

Freighter Base and Bonus Stats? [Question]

I was able to find a table of starship min/max stat bonuses per type pretty easily, but after hours of searching I have been unable to find something for freighters. Without a way of knowing whether I have a good stat roll or not, I have no idea if I should ditch my freighter and look for a better one.

Initial Pirate Standing Missions [Question]

These are the very first Bounty Missions after you find the Outlaw Space Station.

"Raid A Capitol Ship"

I'm assuming these are all Sentinel Freighters.

If anyone has done these missions, I could use a tip or two.

I'm shooting down Sentinel Interceptors as they come. But they just keep on coming. It's endless to the point that I don't have time to get the Freighter.

Any tips would be appreciated. I have an S-Class Sentinel Interceptor with upgraded Infra-Knife and upgraded Phase Beam, with, or course the Sentinel Cannon.

How do ships, multi tools, and other items transfer when completing an expedition? [Question]

I’m a beginner and I just completed my first expedition. Besides the multitool and starship reward the game gave me, I’m curious to know how my other ship and multitool which I’ve upgraded and purchased during the expedition transfer to my primary save when completing the expedition.

For context, I started the Expedition from the Anomaly in my main save, rather than making a new save.

Also picked up a freighter during the expedition and I am curious to know how that transfers as well and what conflict there is with my main save freighter.

Can't get purple planets [Question]

Hey everyone,

Almost a week ago I've finished, I believe, everything I need to in order to unlock access to the new purple planets. Atlas path done (reset the "everything") Artemis path is done Authophage missions are done

I've engaged the pulse drive so many times I've lost count. I've saved, quit out, and come back in. I've warped to numerous system (pulse driving at each one). The new quest line won't activate.

I don't have the Star Seed installed, nor am I able to build one apparently. But I've seen conflicting posts here that say it is, or isn't, required. I've also seen a couple posts saying that new quest line is bugged as far as getting activated?

What am I missing here?

Base Upload [Discussion]

Yes, I know everyone has been ranting about this all this time “Why the base upload limit is only 3000 parts?” and ive seen a lot of responses regarding the graphics loading etc.

But, maybe… should we have an option for example like upload but we could choose the area of our base that we want to up? Idont know how the game works, I am no a game dev lol but its just an idea, because I wish I culd show the community what kind of base I made.

This is Lieutenant Enningsu. He is the son of an old buddy who asked me to give the lad a job, and I did even though the boy is dumb as a brick. But would could possibly go wrong if I let him sweep the hangar floor, right?

Yeah, turns out he has been put in charge of incoming ship placement by that idiot squeaky parrot of a deckmaster. And I have told him a 1000 times to put my ship on pad 2A so that I know where to run. And then I told him a million more times. And he always goes "GRAH! Joyful Warrior! Park ship on 2A! GRAHAHA!" and bumbles off. And then I find myself on fucking 3C again because that useless waste of oxygen tried to impress that chick from fleet management again and put her on 2A.

I've had it. I really want to airlock that cretin, but I don't want to upset his dad. So let me at least challenge Challenge Enningsu for a round of hand-to-hand combat so that I can punch him.

Help with Save Editor / Starborn Phoenix [Question]

So I've used the Save editor to get some twitch rewards mostly. Worked great, understand how to use it etc.

I tried to get the Starborn Phoenix, but can't work out how to claim it in game.

I've ticked the box in the editor. But in game the Quicksilver Dude doesn't offer it, not under option 4, nor able to claim or craft.

I've tried it online and offline (like for Twitch) but can't figure it out.

Anyone able to help or advise please?

Onwards from Titan! [Question]

Kudos to the one who built his base at 1170 depth: it was my last Titan milestone for completing the expedition and a necessary help. Oceans are big.

Eventually I want to transfer the ship I played the expedition with to my main save. My current status is that I have not claimed the living ship of the expedition (yet), have a simple ship in use in my main save and have more than 4000 nanites in the bank because I read somewhere that you need it to bring my expeditionship (a Starborn Runner) to my main save.

To avoid mistakes a question to this great community: what is the correct step-by-step plan from now on to transfer the Starborn Runner to my main save?

My gratitude will be great and eternal!

Planets where there's constant day one side and constant night on other. Which means 3 temperature climates in one planet and different resources to mine.

The night side is always cold, so you'll mine Dioxite and plant frost crystals there, and on the day side, it's always hot, so you'll mine Phosphorus and can plant Solanium there.

Right in the middle is the twilight zone, where the temperature is just right, so there will be Paraffinium there and can plant anything that suits tropical climate such as Starbulbs.

Either that, or they'll find new resources that suits all of climate conditions

How do you build a base? [Question]

How do you base building gods do it?

I've finally found the perfect planet to call home after hundreds of hours playing this great game. I've never really given the building mechanic a real shot but now that I'm attempting to build a legitimate base, I'm seeing how frustrating the building system truly is.

Specifically, my beef is with the snap mechanic being almost unusable and walls changing appearance sometimes with seemingly no way to change them back.

The snap mechanic appears to need a massive overhaul. I'm spending whole minutes attempting to get the parts in the correct general spot but that is not a guarantee that it will rotate correctly or snap to a completely random spot with the slightest movement.

Second, I have some wooden walls that are completely solid and some that have turned into half-walls with open slots at the top. There isn't an obvious way to change the style being presented and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the change since some are directly between two walls of the opposite type.

Lastly, some of the items that can/can't be resized just don't seem to make sense. Why can I resize a desk but not the chair? The bed? Some decorations are able to be shrunk or enlarged but not all in that section? It just seems strange.

Are there any tips/tricks to using the vanilla building system that would make this all make sense?

Am I better off installing some building mods and calling it a day? (I'm on PC)

Have I left it too late? [Question]

I've finished the expedition but there are only 24 slots to transfer items back to my main save, and I can't see how to copy my ship. 😫

I found an S class sentinel ship and I would like to take that back, it's better than anything I've found on my main save.

I only have option to "end expedition" at the terminal.

I followed a distress beacon to a damaged ship and it let me claim it and accidentally set it as my active ship. I'm on a scale planet that doesn't have any resources that I can find. Any ideas on what to do. (I'm new to the game)

It Finally Happened after 500ish hrs:P [Screenshot]

I had made the jump from Eissentam to Elkupalos. Forgot to swap out my multitool...or ship...or doff my tech. Woke up all busted. Found a cave to rest and patch a few things. Set out on foot to find my ship, spotted an archive...Decided to make a base around it as I like to do with every new galaxy jump...1st planet...1st base. The noisy solar faked me out a few times...but the spaceship i heard sounded different. Ran as fast as i could to offload the Vy'keen pilot!

So 141 hr in, finally left Euclid. Did not go as planned….

After reading logs of fellow travellers I thought I was prepared for the event. Got my self a crappy (but custom) Fighter and went to the portal! Did the reset thing and woke up in Eissentam. Jippie!

Than I wanted to scan…. Dammit al my tech is broken, did not saw that coming! My Multi-tool and Exosuite, that’s a lot of tech to fix!

Maybe I had to read a bit more of the logs.

Thank the Atlas that the Celestial Wanderer (the Mother ship) survived the great reset.

But now the adventure continues in Eissentam. To do list : Fix tech. Fix tech. Fix tech. Fix tech. Fix tech. Fix tech. Find a landfall outpost.

Yes I know I can switch to Creative mode and fix it al for free, but I play Relax and only use Creative mode for base building, lazy like that. So as my own punishment I will set out on this new journey and will fix on the go.

Nutrient Processor on Freighter vs Base [Question]

I have been complaining for days about the lack of access to the processor inventory when inserting ingredients. All I could access was items in my exosuit.

I recently built a new base (donut farm)- and the processor I placed there on the planet had full access to the ingredients in the processor storage!

Is my freighter processor bugged? How does your freighter processor work?

Sorry for yelling but I found the game a month ago and I am pissed at myself for ignoring it for 8 years. I was pissed off at Hello Games for lying to us all at release! I'm the kind of person that holds grudges and I'm also an old school MMOhead! My first MMO(Games you play online with other players) was World War 2 Online in 2001 and it was AMAZING (Ugly as sin but it was 40 years ahead of its time and we still have no game like it)! I love Blizzard Games and when they released World of Warcraft in 2004 It blew me away so hard! Blizzard had me literally by the nuts. At that point in my video gaming career I knew that I was a MMOhead!

So I'm an old school MMOhead, who holds grudges (I'm still not over Blizzard devs selling Blizzard to Activision! haha), and single-player games make me feel lonely.

One day, in 2015, I was watching Late Night with Stephen Colbert and they were having game devs on that night which was rare. It was Hello Games developing No Man's Sky, a space survival game where, using procedural-generation, there were going to be 2 billion star systems to explore! Sean Murray says during the interview that other players in NMS can visit you and other stuff! At that point in the interview on my remote I paused my DVR and pre-ordered NMS on my computer!

Anyone born in the late 70s, like me, grew up watching the Star Wars trilogy VCRs (if you could afford it or you watched it on cable)! My brother and I watched Star Wars so much our VCRs wore out to static!

What Sean Murray said about NMS on Colbert's TV show was this guy's dream game! I thought it was a Star Wars-like MMO.

When NMS finally released on the 9th of August of 2016 it was single-player only and they never stated anything about that fact during the lead up to the NMS release. I was devastated. On Steam I got a refund and I was done with No Man's Sky and...

Possible bug?? [Question]

Ok I’m trying to understand something right so I finally completed expedition 17 , I followed the directions it told me to do as far as putting valuables up to swap it over to my primary save so this is where it gets weird I do exactly that all surplus as stated was givin so when I finalized it I go to my primary I go to retrieve my valuables and nothing was there so when I went in to resume expedition it took me to an auto save from yesterday a save where I was half way done instead of back to where I completed it and returned to the anomaly so I hit my restore point and sure enough it was the save the was completed so I tried the process again and it keeps taking back to the the save from yesterday of the Walt way mark almost as if it’s stuck in a loop idk if it’s a bug or not but I do need help figuring this out I am on Xbox as well I just want to be done it literally took me almost 2 weeks to finish I don’t want to have to restart especially trying to find a deep water planet which was the hardest part of the whole thing for me anyone having the completion loop issue as well just want to make sure it’s not just me Ik folks had this problem with the last expedition

First Expedition [Screenshot]

Only had the game about a month and decided to give expeditions a go. Didn't have the feintest idea what I was doing, but I can proudly say that not only did I manage to complete the expedition taking zero goods with me, I even managed to finish it in this absolute heap that was provided to me on the starting planet. All in all, great fun. A few questions though, if you all would be so kind:

All the extra storage augmentations I acquired, are they just gone now? I haven't gone back to the anomaly yet (in fact I didn't visit the anomaly at all). Do I end the expedition there and go back to my main game?

Can I repeat the expedition and get another ship? And/or grab all the storage augmentations to take back with me?

Help with the Portals [Question]

Hi, so I‘m quite new to the game and just finished the Titan expedition. I wanted to build a base on a specific moon I really liked. I have the moon in my exploration folder, and even have the portal adress. So i tried using them to get there but i got the Atlas Transport Error. I still went through the portal but ended up in a different galaxy (I have already unlocked all glyphs). I tried searching in the internet but haven’t found anything really useful in my case. Is there maybe someone who had the same problem, figured it out and can help me? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Miss D

I was mostly using the starting ship because I only found low-rarity ships in stations, and I was not a fan of the Sentinel one you can repair.

"Y'all got a lot of good stuff, for dead people!" - Scavenging the Galactic Hub in Abandoned mode. [Bug]

Let me start by saying I don't think this is at all intended. (Thus the flair) It wasn't what I intended to do today but, hey, free stuff in a very difficult game mode is hard to pass up!

It all started with some cheese I thought up. This definition of Cheese is things that you can do in games that, while not strictly intended, aren't technically "illegal". You're just using normal game mechanics in unintended ways. It was all about glyphs. We haven't figured out how to get them in Abandoned mode short of simply stumbling across graves. There are no dead travellers in space stations, there are no story missions, though I have heard it's possible to get a mission from the anomaly that sends you near a grave site.

But, ah, there's an expedition running with fully populated space stations. That took me to this post. If I could get just two glyphs, there is an easy way to get the rest. But, you can't take the glyphs with you from the expedition can you? But, then there was this. One planet with the coordinates for all 16 glyphs! But you still can't take them with you. You can, however, build a base there, and THAT does transfer back to your original save. So, using the first two glyphs, I got them all, then used them to go to the second planet and built a base before ending the expedition.

Back in Abandoned mode, while running around the planet finding graves I noticed a lot of icons for settlements. So, out of curiosity I followed one. The settlement didn't appear, but, someone had built a base there and it did appear. Mind you, there is no base marker for it, but the base itself was present. So...

Weird lack of Fauna on Abandoned game? [Question]

My Abandoned game is missing a lot of planetary fauna.
Are other Interlopers experiencing the same fate or is my Iteration doomed?

I have fully mapped 11 systems in Euclid in my Abandonned game.
In each of those, a large majority of the planets are missing ALL their fauna.

The first number below is the number of planets in that system that contain any fauna at all, and the second number is the total number of planets Ooshofso 1/5 Ugtning-Ber (1/2) Timmanu (0/2) Krafia Odpo (1/4) Arosvi-Nofiel (0/6) Orordn (1/6) Dudarfl (Archive) (1/4) Rateckni (0/5) Earkiv-Inohe (1/6) Ilmural-Ago (1/5) Carlitl-Ked XII (1/6)

Several of those planets are Bountiful, Verdoyant, Temperate or Grassy and the amount of vegetation appears normal, yet they bear no animal life.

I visited a few of those same systems in my Main game (Normal Game started back in 2016) and, as I would expect, they had all a healthy amount of fauna apart from the couple desolate worlds

I logged a bug a week or two ago but haven't heard anything back, so wondering if I'm on my own - pun intended - it's an Abandoned galaxy after all, but it's a bit too lonely for my taste, or if something's wrong about my game and I should just bite the bullet and restart.

Permadeath [Question]

So I usually like playing games on permadeath. But I have questions about nms. I know your save gets deleted but If you complete an expedition and die do you lose the rewards from the expedition, or are they account based. Do you recommend permadeath or should I just go with normal for this type of game? I'm almost thinking maybe I should make a normal save and maybe a second for permadeath. I"ve already got the trophy for permadeath so I don't need to worry about that.

Finding sentinel ships [Discussion]

So i’ve been having a lot of fun finding ships people have posted coordinates to, but one thing i noticed is they’ll note that it’s an S class or something like that, as if when you find it, that’s what it will be. But they have all been C class for me (which is fine, i just wanna know why lol)

Another time i’ve noticed this is when i’m in a space station with a friend and we both look at a ship, it’ll be a different class for them as it is for me.

Do they all start as C class and then have to be upgraded?

I just picked the game back up and would really like to start going through the autophage quest line.

I have read this and many like it.

But I have not yet been able to trigger that "intercept" start of the questline.

Just seems to be confusion on my end. I have completed all crossed out. So I have to complete the Purge, Space Anomaly and Atlas Path in order for this to work? If I do, is there a bad option to choose at the end of them that will not be a good idea?

I have a sentinel ship (or 5), and I really just want to start hunting Atlantid Mult-tools, but if I understand correctly, I have to go through the autophage questline.

Any help would very much be appreciated.

First thanks to you all for beeing such a awseome community, it helped me a lot hanging out here ^^ Years ago in other (gaming) worlds I loved to make panaromas like this. I made these in the Anomaly and maybe you or your ship are on it. Each one contains arround 170 screenshots. There are 2 or maybe 4 of them in HD and the rest is in 4k taken, and some are uncropped and cropped so you can edit them as you like. (Ill try to take all the panoramas in 4k if possible).

If you want the ones I show here as original file let me know and ill make sure you can get it original size. Also if you have buildings, planets, ships, groups of players or anything else to show of for a massive panorama let me know.

Work in progress Salvage-themed base I'm working on [Build]

This is a total work in progress, and things change as I continue building, but this is the start of my Salvage-themed based situated between two crashed freighters. They're a bit far apart compared to other double crash sites I've seen, but I really liked this location and wanted to set things up where both freighters were visible. (PS5)

The big structure with the landing pads and cranes is a sort of 'hangar' idea I've messed around with. I originally had something that was all enclosed, but it makes for odd situations as far as a roof is concerned, since ships can only land straight down. So I came up with this sort of open concept. While the bays may seem large, I wanted larger ships to fit and not look totally weird. With the exception of some Explorer ships, with their ludicrous mile-long wings, everything fits.

There's a sort of traffic control tower that also doubles as a power station that I'll eventually wire things to. The only other building so far is the small one in front of the hangar where the tower is, and as I go I will build things down. I want this to be a sory of multi-tiered scrapper town that will eventually have a bazaar and a busy feel to it.

This is roughly two or three days of building, most of which was a cycle of building and tearing down until I found an aesthetic and developed a game plan. I hope you like the progress so far. I may share the coordinates at some point, but I want to focus on getting it all sorted, and I may eventually upload it.

Void Egg duplicate + timer reset? [Question]

I went through the Galactic Core to finish the purge quest line but upon doing so I reset the timer for my maturing fragile heart. I also received a duplicate egg. What is the consensus on what my best route of action is? I have also noticed the quest line has reactivated for the other egg, meaning I now have a progressing egg, and one that needs to be activated(?)

The last task to create new systems does not appear. [Bug]

Good day I have a problem. maybe I'm not the only one and someone has already overcome this problem. I play on PS4. I don't have the last quest where I need to create a galaxy. That is, in general. No one gets in touch no matter how much I jump and fly. I have completed all previous quests. Passed autophages, opened and purchased all goods from autophages, even created two autophage staffs, completed expedition. He took the Atlantis hyperdrive from the expedition, but no gas giants on the galactic map. Already uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Nothing. I also noticed that the task with the living starship was similar, in space, when the anomaly detector is activated, the quest for the living starship is activated, the coordinates are provided by which you can pick up the ready-made living starship, but it doesn't matter if I take it or not, the quest appears again anyway. I don't know what to do anymore.

No real space or ground combat with sentinels outside of depot sentinels. (XB1) bug? [Bug]

I recently picked up NMS again after dropping it in 2020. Often having sentinels attacking my settlement. When i loaded my save it was under sentinel attack. Finished that "wave", but no more real combat with them since.

Even if i refuse the cargo scan in space, where interceptors are supposed to start combat, they just warp in and warp out right away.

On planets - at depots, abandoned buildings, i shoot n destroy them, mine resources or kill animals and they'll attack back, but only when i attack them directly.

It's always 2-3 regular drones, 1 repair drone, and sometimes 1 doggo or minotaur robot. I try to farm salvaged glass, brains etc from them but its painfully slow..

Anyone have the same experience or any fixes? Would rlly appreciate any info.

How long have you had the game and how many hours have you played? [Question]

I’ve seen this game around for years, never paid any attention to it or anything but just recently a friend coerced me into getting it. I’ve had the game just about a month and already have 130 hours in game. I’m absolutely flabbergasted at how big the game is; not only the whole galaxy but 256 of them is insane. I used to think Assassins Creed had the biggest map but boy was I wrong. I’m about 10 galaxies in, finished the main quest line, built a 6,000+ piece base. Now I just can’t seem to get off or away from the game. I think my last two goals to complete are 1. Visit all 256 galaxies and 2. Find an infamous Paradise Giant

Help- antlantid drive broken mid Titan expedition, can't fix [Question]

Looking for direction, advice, help of any kind. In new to the game and playing through Titan, which is my first expedition. I had finished the first stage and was warping to the second rendezvous, but when I warped to a system along the way I got attacked by pirates and then sentinels after. I wasn't fast enough to recharge my shield, and of course the thing that broke was my antlantid drive.

I need indium, antlantidium, and living glass to fix it. I've found a bit of antlantidium but I haven't been to a system with indium yet and I don't even have the blueprints for living glass!

I found a thread with someone with a similar issue, but the advice was to visit a pirate controlled system and buy repair kits. I haven't found a single pirate controlled system so I'm kinda stuck...

Is there any way around this? Do I just have to start over? I wasn't too far along so that's not the worst thing in the world, and I'm sure it will go faster the second time. But damn 😭

Help, got stuck after reaching center of galaxy [Question]

I have a big problem. After I reached the center of the galaxy (Euclid), my ship parts were destroyed. Unfortunately, I need inverted mirrors, crystallized heart and salvaged glass to repair my spaceship. What is the best way to get them now? If I had known this beforehand, I could have at least prepared the components for it. Without a spaceship, killing dissonances is life-threatening, especially as I can't even run away. I have another spaceship in my freighter, but no teleporter to get there. Fortunately, I found a base with a teleporter on the new planet, so at least I can still get to a space station or my home base. I would be very grateful for any helpful suggestions

Survival mode with increased expenses: are Nip Nip smuggled prices glitched? [Question]

I play on custom survival with elevated costs. Nip nips cost me 69k units each at Pirate Station but sell for only 45k units each at normal Space Stations (I checked 3 different ones)

Sounds like a glitch. Anyone know?

Btw, moon ether, blood salt, etc are priced correctly (sell for about double the purchase price)

I notice, maybe, a similar problem with envoy discounts that aren’t discounts … or … the selling prices were not updated for custom survival mode.

Any way to get back a lost expedition ship? [Question]

I just start looking around and collecting sentinel ships on my main save. I found one I wanted to keep and accidentally hit swap ship instead of add to collection. So I lost my completely modded out Starborn Runner. Bummer. I’m ok with losing my customizations but I just realized I can’t seem to get the base ship back. Does a faster pulse drive (i. e. Upgraded with modules or with a mod) reduce likelihood of Anomalies due to less time pulsing between destination? [Question]

To preface: Yes I am playing modded. Let's get that out of the way. I only play single player so big deal.

I am attempting to get void egg anomalies to upgrade my living ship. I have a mod that doubles Pulse Drive speed (I have limited time to play some days so I am trying to not spend 3 minutes a trip just pulsing between planets)

My question (which would apply even to vanilla given you can upgrade the pulse drive with upgrade modules) is: does a faster pulse drive reduce odds of Anomalies considering you spend less total time at pulse?

Grave Glyphs not responding [Bug]

is anyone having issues with this. I followed the Youtube video on how to get all 16 gylphs everything was going fine until it just stopped working all of sudden they no longer prompt to interact. I have 5 glyphs unlocked and this is frustrating I made sure that my multiplayer is off and tried to go far away and portal back in try to retrace my steps and none of them work.

Rate my Fleet [Screenshot]

All A class Sentinel ships and I labeled that accordingly. All found in Euclid, and I probably forgot all the coordinates to all of them except the one on the far right. I have to check.

From left to right: 1. "Tie Interceptor" (Atmosphere) Because it looked like the tie Interceptor on the right, but it has those little winglets on the end, and I like to imagine they provide some lift. 4 extending prongs with engines on the top 2. My first sentinel ship that I decided to keep

"Blue Streak" A bunch of thin plates that bend downward on takeoff, and the 2 boards on the roof extended and bend down with 2 engines mounted on them. Made it the most maneuverable.

"4025 Ford F-150" A mostly Blue hauler that's slow AF but I've made it the camel of the fleet, carrying most of my shit, and focusing on shielding and hyperdrive jump distance. The back is the solid bulky looking piece that closes on takeoff.

"Banana" It's yellow, and the first good looking, winged sentinel ship I found in the previous system I was in. Full size dragonfly wings, and there are two large prongs on the bottom that tilt outward along with the wings opening. Looks cool, might replace Blue Streak as my daily flyer.

"Tie Interceptor" It's literally... A Tie Interceptor to proportion. It's the bare bones sentinel ship cab, with 4 extending prongs with engines on the ends of them. The first Tie has that orange main engine extension piece that takes away the "ball" look of all Ties.

Portal Question. [Question]

I have activated 2 portals early game … not to get to Center but to get to more or less random areas 1/2 way to Center.

The arrival portals remaining spinning … connected so returning doesn’t require addresses. What do I have to do to be able to use those arrival portals to go somewhere else?

That is, how do I get the portals to all me to enter new addresses?

What is the point of activated metals? [Question]

I know activated copper is needed to fix parts of ships, but that's literally the only unique purpose I've found for basically any of the activated metals. I know they give more chromatic metal, but the normal versions plus gold and silver in a refiner already outclass that feature. Besides some extra magnetized ferrite, which feels like a waste, what other uses do any of them have? I've only recently gotten activated quartzite for that one exocraft technology and that made me question their purposes.

My historically-themed city! [Build]

Hello Games refuses to add cities, so I decided to embrace my inner Thanos and say " Fine. I'll do it myself"
This is the result. Aculona Imperia, capital of the Aculon Empire, (my Roman-inspired civ in Euclid) It's doesn't embody vertical extremity like the base Velcorin built by u/Goldyisus63 (who is a friend of mine, and a long-time member of my civ) does, but rather it embodies simplicity and monumentality in equal measure. Every building is draped with the Imperial Flag. Unfortunatly, I hit the 3000 part limit before I could finish it, so enjoy a smaller (but still detailed and fully furnished) city when you visit! Constructive criticism is much appreciated!

Titan expedition and players disappearing bases: what is going on? [Question]

I completed Titan expedition recently and like others mentioned, my base apparently didn’t make it with me. I first tried putting another character through a new expedition thinking it might show up there, it didn’t. I know the planet where I built, and traveled back there but it doesn’t appear in any portals.

Also went with my main and nothing. I had previously completed the Autophage storyline and had an Atlantid drive, but I had not completed the “In Stellar Magnitudes” storyline. Apparently not finishing this prior to (?) ending the expedition results in losing your base? I don’t understand the connection.

Anyone have any suggestions or should I accept the base is gone? I am currently on the planet but it’s a huge planet, I don’t know how I could logically find it even if it exists by searching. And I figure even if I found it, wouldn’t be connected to me? I should also add I used the portal many times to go back to my base too.

Shuttles for beginner players? [Question]

So I'm a new player (135 hours in) and I finally started thinking about getting a new ship. Went to the wiki to read about pros and cons of different ship types. Thinking of getting a hauler for stockpiling on trade goods and an explorer because I like exploring every planet in every star system I discover

But bro. The wiki says that shuttles "are great for starter travellers". In what world a starter traveller would switch to a shuttle from their Radiant Pillar fighter? Are there any scenarios where you start with a suitable shuttle instead of the fighter? I'm not aware and am curious now

Beyond Frustrated [Question]

I’ve finished the Artemis storyline and The Purge. I’ve finished the storyline where I build my little sentinel friend. But I cannot get the Autophage storyline to start and I can’t unlock the purple stars. Every once in a while I try to warp somewhere and it says I need the Atlantid Drive, but the star itself is not visible. Seriously, what the eff do I have to do just to get this game to work?

I am so close to throwing my controller through my tv. I’ve never seen such a poorly executed storyline in a major game.

Asking people who play older versions of NMS [Question]

TL;DR If I install version 2.0, can I then update the game to version 2.20 (and so on) and keep my save?

I love to be a sort of a videogame archeologist. When I start a new game that has been out for awhile, I go through its patch notes and update trailers to see what path it walked before I joined the community. Now in NMS sub I see a lot of people are able to roll back to the release version of NMS, and I got curious

After reading patch notes of previous versions I see how big was the overhaul in Beyond update and that the devs themselves recommended to start a new game, so I guess saves created before 2.0 are glitchy. So, if I install the Beyond version of the game and complete most of its content, can I then update it to the next version (Synthesis) to play its content on the same save and just keep updating until I get to where we will be at present time? Or will I have to start over every version? Or updating like this not even possible? I'm not sure about any of this

Also, how does world generation work? I thought every planet got synced online as people discover them, but seeing how people can play the game offline, I guess that isn't the case. Would appreciate any info on that front, thanks in advance

No achievement gained? [Question]

I jumped galaxies, but never got the achievement for reaching the centre. I did put the game in creative for 5-10 minutes once before to check something, but put it back in survival long before the jump. I also portaled to a world close to the centre but still made the jump manually. Would either of those stop the achievement from registering?

Which galaxy of the 4 should I pick if I want to see more Mega Exotic Biome Planets? [Question]

I am at the New Beginnings choice and normally I'd pick eissentam but I'm concerned that it will have a lot less Mega Exotic planets (things like Deathly Green Anomaly. The planets that have the weird colour filters over everything but are otherwise normal planets)

Which should I pick? Not keen on Harsh galaxy since I'm a fairly casual player. Aggressive sentinels and extreme weather everywhere sounds like a bad time for me.

Settlement Happiness over 100%, and Productivity over 1M Ʉ/day? [Question]

The game behaves as though I've "banked" over 100% Happiness and over 1M Ʉ/day in Productivity. I regularly make choices that increase Happiness and Productivity but 100% / 1M Ʉ/day displayed don't change.

But on occasion I make choices that negatively impact one or the other yet the values do not reduce. As though there's some hidden "buffer" I've built up, so that the values remain at maximum.

Maintenance does not appear to work the same. I'm typically at 0 Ʉ/day, and regularly make choices that lower it, and the value doesn't change - same as above.

But the moment I make a choice that increases Maintenance the value does increase. Maintenance doesn't have an apparent "buffer" effect like the other two statistics.

Have others noticed and experienced this? I'm not seeing an apparent "buffer" value for Settlement statistics in a game save editor. I'm curious if this is a known mechanic, does it really behave like a buffer, how large the buffers are for Happiness and Productivity if they exist, etc.

Invalid position when building on freighter (Xbox) [Bug]

Hey, is there any fix for the snap placement to work again?

I returned to the game after a month break, updated it and all that, decided to rebuild the freighter base, and now I can't place anything except for freighter building modules. All items and furnute just say "Invalid position" and sinks through the floor/doesn't recognize floor and walls somehow

I've tried with free placement, it works, but it takes much longer to decorate with it. Not to mention, that it's rather inconvenient. Restarting console and game didn't help((

I excavated some ruins, and tried to set it as my base, but it didn't work for some reason. So I explored and logged off. But I came back, because my ship was still there, and now it let me claim it as a base when it didn't before. I read online while trying to figure out why I couldn't that the game fills it back in, but it didn't after a day, so I was wondering if it actually will.

Gas Giants [Question]

Finally found time to explore the new content.

Loving it!

So far I've only ever found Gas Giants in purple systems with them being the only planet + the moons.

I was searching for a Gas giant with other planets (preferably with those new ruins, so I can collect them while gazing at the gas giant)

So, my questions:

-are gas giants always "alone"?

-can the ruin parts appear on moons?

-can I identify if a body has ruins from the scanner information? (Like vile brood / dissonance)?

^That is supposed to be the "best" way to lay out freighter tech to get the highest possible adjacency bonuses out of it. It is not. After fiddling for hours, it seems that THIS is (Or at least very close to perfect):

What I discovered is that the tech least impactful on raising your Fleet Coordination bar is the Fuel Efficiency freighter module - keep those on the outside edge. You want your tech laid out in "L" shapes for maximum adjacency bonuses, then pack those into a tight square with the two "hanging" modules being Fleet Coordination modules (The general rule seems to be that the least impactful modules need to be on the outside in the least boosted areas, while the most impactful modules need to be closest to the center. With a square of Supercharged slots, and a decent but not perfect stat roll, I managed a pretty crazy 69.2 Fleet Coordination bar. Best I was ever able to achieve. And a hyperdrive range bar...

Returning to NMS on the PC after starting out on the Xbox.

Generally, I'm trying to get my A Class ship to to scratch and getting my tool and suit upgraded, naturally. Generally I'm just doing missions and scanning furiously.

I've got my first freighter but need fuel to send it fighting around the galaxies (I've avoided them until now but I know I probably shouldn't).

Base building bores me, but I do have a settlement which I'm curious about.

What else am I sleeping on that I should be doing?

Looking for planet from Titan Expedition [Question]

Does anyone happen to have a base put down on "Demans IX" (Nasoric-rima, purple star system)?

I thought I had but obviously I was mistaken. It's a really unique moon, with a monochrome atmosphere and translucent creatures, really wish I had put a base down on that. I imagine there's more unique worlds out there, but I love the aesthetics. If anyone can help, and throw me co-ords for a monolith nearby or something that would be awesome!!

Game is Glitching [Bug]

I am trying to finish the latest expedition. I have 2 tasks left to do. Go 1001 feet deep in water and find 5 sea glass. I can't find a water world. when I set the task, it glitches and will not show up on the Galaxy map to find a water world. the map will only go into the categories' of going to the center and free roam. I reset my PS5 and it still is happening. The "Find Sea Glass" says 0\0 found. it selects the task but, will not register that it is selected. The Galaxy map will not select Expedition. So, it will not direct me to a Water World.

A couple of questions:

How do I report the glitch so I can finish the expedition by tomorrow's end? OR...

Can someone name a galaxy where a Water World is? I can't do the glyphs. Please name which rendezvous galaxy it is near. and the name of the planet.

Confused with Sentinals Deploying [Question]

I’m very confused on how I keep upsetting the sentinels. I landed my ship and used my target scanner and now I have 4 units on my ass. Is it just because this planet has hostile sentinels? I ran in front of one and it started. If so then they need to be more clear. A dumbass like me is easily mislead with tip like this from the dev. It happens to me even on planets with low sentinel activity. I’m just really confused and starting to get pissed. FYI I am under 15 hours of gameplay and still very little content watched after a few suggestions. I’m really tryna get a natural progression of learning to make it more exciting to me as I’ve killed interest in playing a game in the past due to watching content before hand.

Best way to find Inventory upgrade. [Discussion]

I was unsure if this was meant to be a question, but I think it would be better as a discussion. To my knowledge, there are three ways to find Drop Pods to upgrade the slots in your inventory: Buy the upgrades from the Space Station or Anomaly. Buy the charts from the Cartographer. Use the Advanced Radar on the Exocraft.

Personally, I would use the third option, but I’d like to hear what the community thinks is the fastest or cheapest way.

I'm loving this game because I started playing yesterday and I already found such interesting stuff like I just found the possible cure for the common cold but nah sold it for 2 mil

I found such awesome animals and planets like cmon a massive tyranid bug thing that's sick AND THE HUGE -kzzt- WORM IS AWESOME.

I personally love finding buried ancient relics because I got 11 million units rn and the awesome ships and freighters and special events really bring it together.

Especially with how massive and beautiful the galaxies and planets are!

Am I playing this game wrong? [Discussion]

I want to preface this by saying I have this game on the Switch, I am deep admiration of Sean and Hello Games for consistently improving this game and bringing all those updates to the Switch which is unfortunately, a neglected console by most game companies (I’m looking at you Shiro Games).

However, I have tried desperately to get into NMS multiple times putting around 30 hours into each save and then I just get to the same point. I feel like I’m flying around jumping from system to system to follow the main story and just landing on planets and scanning resources over and over. I see all these videos and screenshots that people put up and it really fires me up to play this game again but I just seem to hit a wall where I feel like I’m just resource gathering / scanning without any real sense of enjoyment.

I really want to love this game and there are moments when I just stop and take in how impressive it all looks (even on the Switch, it’s a beautiful game) or little things like every time I fly off-planet into space, the game feels amazing. But these are just small, fleeting moments and I can’t seem to keep the momentum to keep playing this game, I get bored, stop playing and then switch to another game only to come back and try again a couple of months later.

Am I the only one that has this problem? I feel like combat might spice the game up but I only ever encounter those biological horrors which frustrate me because I really wish they were procedurally generated to give some variety rather than encountering the same animal throughout multiple planets and systems.

Again, I think Hello Games is a fantastic company - I feel like this is an issue with the game that comes from me rather than them. How did you overcome this if you ever felt these issues with the game?

How Will This Run on the iGPU of a Ryzen 7700X [Question]

I was thinking my retired dad would enjoy this game - he's been a science fiction fan literally since the 1950s. I recently build him a overpowered PC for normal use since his previous machine from 2015 was slowing down, with a Ryzen 7700X with 32 GB of DDR5. Because he does literally nothing thus far involving 3D there's no discrete GPU, but the PSU would support one if needed.

How will the game run on this system? I do have a RX 580 8 GB in a closet if it would help, although I'm concerned that would increase the tech support calls :p

I was in the anomaly, sitting on my new living ship who I adore, they are just absolutely beautiful...and I walked away for a bit(afk)...and got back into my ship without thinking much at all

i was just fixing a few things...runninng missions and then I look in my inventory and see 30 psyonic eggs and 20 sacs as well - and I had no idea how I accquired so many! I had count ten in my storage but now suddenly I have 30!? I then realised I had been afk in the anomaly. It was the best surprise! I haven't really got into living ships after all this time and to have a generous traveller know exactly what I wanted is just magic

12 hours into this game. Feeling a bit stuck... need help [Question]

Hey guys,

I've been playing No Man's Sky for about 12 hours now, and I think I'm close to wrapping up most of the main questlines — at least it feels that way. I've been visiting Atlas stations (probably more than 10 by now), so I feel like that storyline is coming to an end. Along the way, I've also been trying to do some side things on my own, like searching for a planet to build a base. I haven't found the perfect one yet — I'm pretty picky — but I'm still looking.

Lately, I've been really wanting to get a new ship — either a fighter or an interceptor — but that's the first thing were I feel kind of stuck. I know getting a sentinel interceptor would be perfect, but since I can't teleport to specific coordinates yet (still need to finish the main quest), it's been hard to find one I really like. I'm not sure if I'm being too picky or if I should just settle for a random one until later. And what if I find the perfect ship whats then?

Right now, I feel like I don't have a clear goal anymore. Maybe I'm seeing this game in the wrong way — maybe I should just explore more without having a fixed goal in mind. But I really enjoy having something to slowly work towards.

So what do you guys recommend I do from here? What are some fun things you like to pursue when you're in this stage of the game? Any advice would be appreciated!

Building a base on a Tidal planet at 1200u below the surface, and I have a few questions [Question]

As the title says - I’m building on one of the new planets deep below the waters surface. I’ve got two questions that I haven’t been able to find answers to and I’m hoping you all can help.

I’m wondering if there is a landing pad that functions this far below the surface? I seem to remember seeing a video of a guy landing and taking off from deep below the water through some kind of landing shaft?

Also - is there any exosuit upgrade to help with deep water pressure? Exploring in the nautilon is great, but without being able to use my scanner or collect certain items, I still need to exit the sub occasionally.

So ever since the last big update. I have been having nothing but issues with the game. Getting these "glitches" and game crashes alot. Sometimes I can go all day with no issues and others it will crash like 2 to 3 times in 3p mins. I've contacted PS support. Did what they recommended. Cleared cache and rebuilt database. Still having same issues. I do play on my original PS5 and Pro. Have the same issues on Pro. I have the disc version also.

Asteroid mining is it viable? [Question]

While killing a pirate in an asteroid belt I got to thinking is there a ship/ build that can turn a reasonable income from mining the asteroids? It seems slow with minimal returns with conventional weapons it would be nice to be captioning a mining ship and refining huge amounts of resources into saleable products.

Doing a missing person mission and my visor says that I'm near at the given location, but when I reached the area the visor resets and said "627u", so I guess It's on the top of the mountain. After I reached the top I took some time to appreciate the view, I thought that when I look back the location will be there but it's empty, I used my visor again and it says "609u". I jetpack jumped, walked a bit and took some photos while walking. When I closed the photomode it's already dark and when I looked back, mah hart man.. mah hart. It's beau-e-ful. Took a while to get the photo that I want, after that I just reached the end of the mountain there I saw the trading outpost, where the missing person is.

The distance units is too far that I slowed my pace and appreciate the beauty of this game again. Definitely a "Sometimes you gotta stop and smell the roses" moment.

Can someone confirm something about pirates ships please. [Question]

I watched a YouTube video earlier and I swear the guy said even if you get a class B take it because as you start to go through the game and upgrade it, it will eventually turn into an S class is this true or did I not understand it correctly? I’m pretty sure I saved the video.

I’m going out tonight to get one I’ve got a class A normal at the moment a class S pirate would be the dream but I’ll settle for an A class.

Also from what I understand I need to play the game for three hours tonight and after 3 hours start going to pirate systems for them to spawn.

I’ve actually had three offered but class c and b’s .

Any tips would be great would love to get this done tonight.

Base Computers [Question]

I have been wondering, why most people don't relocate their base computer to inside a building? Lots of bases leave their computers where they first put it down, I was just wondering, I always move it to next to the entrance from the landing pad, same for the waypoint save, those 2 are always together or very close to each other. So I was wondering why people leave the computer outside?

S-class freighter modules [Question]

During battles with pirate freighters, I've received S-class freighter modules. The modules always include the name of the civilian freighter destroyed by the pirates.

Now that I have my own S-class pirate dreadnaught, I focused on taking out the attacking pirates fast enough to save the civilian fleet. With that focus, no more S-class modules.

My question is this: Are those modules from the destroyed civilian freighters? They sure seem to be. Can anyone verify this?

Is base building messed up for anyone else? [Bug]

So this started happening recently, not sure if its some setting I'm missing or an update gone wrong, but I'm on the Steam version, and when I attempt to base build, structural elements(walls, etc.) are mostly fine, can figure out ways to snap them, etc. However, when I try to put anything IN bases that is decorative, 2 things, one is that the default distance is always so far away that its impossible to place in base, and it if its set to snap its red and claims no valid position, free placement is impossible to control. In addition, when I try to use the build camera, it immediately zooms me out of my base, sometimes sticking me between floors or on other positions I can't get out of.

ON EDIT: Decorative elements do not see or stick to walls/floors at all in either free placement or snap mode.

Its just so frustrating because it was working OK just a few weeks ago, right after the Worlds 2 update. Don't know what's wrong.

Lore wise, why did the main character... [Question]

Hello guys,

As I understand it, Artemis has been "killed" by the Atlas or the Sentinels (if you have an answer to it?) because she tried to take a portal.

Then, why did our character survive when the Atlas tried to kill us for the exact same reason? I mean, we take the portal, we are teleported to a new dimension (like Artemis?) but we're not dead, we can still go to the simulated world. Why, and how?

My top tip about upgrading freighters! [Information]

So I'm sure many players out there have had the same struggle as I have when it comes to upgrading our freighter...a severe lack of upgrade modules

Pre Worlds 2 update, I had found myself limited to warking.my freighter to yellow stars, as I could not yet upgrade my hyperdrive to the relevant tech level.

So here comes my top tip!

The atlantid drive for the freighter is unlocked via the same quest as it is for space ships. No upgrade modules required.

Thank god for this because damn I was bored of not being able to build bases or spawn exo crafts on planets around different star classes.

Hope this was helpful to someone and I'm not just stating the obvious!

I would love for the next two "overhaul" updates to be for Ships and Creatures. [Discussion]

I do think that there are some really cool ships in this game, and that there are some cool unique creatures. I think perhaps these updates would work better as additions, though, so that we would not have to lose our current beloved ships and creature companions.

I just feel like we've reached that point where we don't see that many unique creatures or ships anymore, just same-y variants.

Creatures is a bit of a toughie but I suspect that's something they're working on alongside Light No Fire. It just seems like once you've seen one flying bird or worm you've seen them all, one predator you've seen them all, etc... maybe a way to tie creature generation to the biome/atmosphere of their planet - larger, hairier creatures on colder planets, scalier and more nimble creatures on hot desert planets, etc...

Ships, though, I feel could use a few things:

a bunch of extra parts for each class to have more variation (as well as new colors and patterns),

a better way to accrue parts to build your own ships (buying ships one at a time to scrap for one part doesn't feel like the best way),

new unique "exotic" ships to fill out that roster some more since there aren't many. It feels like the exotic ships aren't that "exotic", just... rare. I think they could use a serious overhaul, some sort of way that each one is truly unique and exotic. That might be a big ask. It's just a little underwhelming that there are so few variants of what is supposed to be not just an incredibly rare but also wholly unique class of ship.

I honestly feel like the Expedition ships we get are cooler and more unique than the exotic ships because for the most part you truly can't find anything else like them, aside from other players. An exotic generation system would be cool, with more outlandish parts and combinations; perhaps even ones that...

I'm stuck on an endless loading screen [Bug]

Last time I played game I tried to take off on a ship that was at the bottom of the ocean (on a planet from the last update) but the game froze. I tried to load my latest save and was met with an endless loading screen. Now every time I try to load my game the same thing happens. I've spent about 200 hours on the game and have never had any problems with loading, performance or any other bugs and I don't have any mods installed. It seems like my save is now corrupted or something.

I tried to fix the game by joining my friend's game but it didn't help. Maybe I could continue playing if I loaded the previous save instead of the last one but I don't know if it's possible to do it from the main menu or maybe someone has better ideas on how to fix it.

How do you build with non-prefab structures without the terrain ruining it? [Question]

I'd love to try and build something that's not just prefabs, but I can't even make a floor that doesn't have the ground clipping through it and rocks or plants appearing inside.

The only solution I can think of would be building high off the ground, that's what I do with the prefab structures, but I find it just looks wrong when using non-prefab structures. I want to make a log cabin, but I just haven't found any terrain that can accommodate it. I really need some building advice for this.

Shouldn't have messed with a good thing... [Question]

I decided to upgrade my Class B multi-tool to another Class B multi-tool with more slots. Big mistake. I had three S-level scanner upgrades raking in about 400k+ units for every specimen of fauna I scanned. Now it's closer to 175k. I took everything back out, stuck it all back in the original multi-tool, and it's still giving me that massive cut in profits. What's the deal? Do the upgrades "reroll" whenever they're uninstalled? Is it synergy with what they're installed next to? I used the same number of supercharged slots, so that's not it...

Question [Question]

I picked up the game recently without spoiling myself or watching tutorials, but by farming the sentinel ships with the resonance spikes and by reselling the objects from the suspicious chests that you can buy in a loop from one pirate station to another

I quickly accumulated unlimited nanites. So, I already find myself with 200 million units and 50,000 nanites. Even though I haven't upgraded everything to S yet, my ship is already super powerful. Am I ruining the game experience by naturally optimizing what seemed effective, or is there still a lot left for me to discover and do? Especially with money

I’m a new player and I need some help with ships [Question]

So I’ve spent the last two days searching Google for an answer and I haven’t been able to find one. At one point I thought I saw something in passing but I can’t find it again. I’ve seen two ships now with coloring like this, I finally got a picture of one but the other was blue and orange. I LOVE this ship! I’ve been trying to figure out how it gets like this…is this a custom built ship and if so how the heck do you get the building stuff to get it how you like because I can’t seem to figure that out either…even in creative mode when i switched out of normal I can’t do it and two, if it’s a ship that can be found, does anyone know where it is? Sorry I’m a very new player and I haven’t learned near what there is to learn about the game and Google has been a great help but I can’t figure out this🙁

Interceptor won’t install indium drive? [Question]

I’ve found a sentinel ship (interceptor? excuse my ignorance I’m new). I then stored the indium drive from my other ship, to install it in the new sentinel one. It says ‘Aeron protocol rejects alien technology’.

So, can I not do that? Is there a workaround or can sentinel ships travel to blue systems etc without this drive? Or - can I not travel to certain systems with this ship? Can anyone explain please - thank you!!

Hello to the best gaming community there is!

I’m on day 2 of what seems like an eternity where I can’t load my save in NMS. I’ve made posts and the community has come to assist in many ways. Shooting hopefully helpful tips and possible workarounds for me to use to get my game to load. For that I thank all who’ve tried to help. I’m 350+ hours in and have just started to really understand how great this game can be. But I am currently having an issue where when I load my save I’m just flying through the stars forever and my game never loads into my character.(I left it on overnight just in case and woke up to more stars lol) While I wait for a response to the 9 zendesk tickets I sent I wanted to still be a part of the community that has been so good to me. I know at worst I’ll have to start again and I can but I would lose so many things that made my guy, MY GUY. The ships, weapons, staff, things I’ve found that I just collected are just too many to name and I cant even visualize going through all of it again. Does that mean I don’t love the game? No. But maaaaaaan it would be grueling. Bunt worse come to worst that’s what I will do. I’ll just miss my pets. Quite frankly you’ve all become somewhat family as I’m here everyday seeing interesting posts and pics of all of our unique journeys. Welp. Pics are all I have at the moment and I thought I’d share a couple with you all of the character that is currently missing in action because of this terrible glitch I’m experiencing. I imagine my settlers are frantic given that there is no overseer for them to rely on and confide in. I mean who’s going to determine who’s bodily fluid is on what now that the overseer is missing? That’ll have to wait I guess. Either way please enjoy these pics of a couple random moments that look bigger than they are. As for me I’ll keep looking up into the stars hoping for a response...

Sentinel Capital Ship Disappears [Bug]

Every time I raid a depot from Nexus Missions, a sentinel capital ship shows up. When I try to shoot at it, it disappears but the guns and lasers keep shooting at me. Is this a bug or is it cloaking?

Any idea what this is? [Question]

Idk if it's an animal or plant. I was thinking maybe a robot or something? I've seen a lot but apparently theres still some things out their to surprise me lol. I've never seen anything like it, but I'm 99% sure this person has it at their base through the wonder projector. It spins and the red ball in the center has an animation as well.

Any ideas or info on where I could find one is greatly appreciated! I like to base build and moving parts are rare, so wonders like these are like so fun to incorporate.

TIL that Gas Giants are, on average, the size of some of the largest moons of IRL Saturn (slightly smaller than Earth’s moon) [Discussion]

I landed on a couple gas giants and did some super basic measuring of distance (namely, moving in a cardinal direction and measuring the distance between a couple .01 changes in coordinates), some simple math, and found that gas giants tend to be around 900-1200 km in diameter.

This puts it on par with Rhea, Iapetus, Dione, and Tethys in IRL.

Pretty interesting to see that comparison because gas giants feel abysmally endless to me, but in reality, they’re just under the size of earth’s moon.

Absurdly high Knowledge Stone spawn rate [Screenshot]

This planet (glyphs visible in the screenshot) has a huge number of Knowledge Stones, frequently clustered with 3-4 within 50u of each other. I present this to the community: it's like Duolingo for Vy'keen! (Landed at random with about 125 words known, soon had about 162 words in maybe 10-15 minutes.)

Vy'keen system, advanced materials/comfortable, conflict rating: peaceful.

Underground Base. [Build Video]

This is a base I’ve shared pictures of before but I recently noticed several conversations here about building bases underground. I know a lot of people are against it because the spaces back fill when you have terrain edits.

I’ve had this base for several years now and there are a few locations that filled in but the majority of it is a great condition. You’ll notice a few spots where grass pokes up through the floors but it doesn’t present any real issues.

Ultimately, I just wanted to demonstrate that you can build underground and have a viable base, even after updates. The while the planet exterior has changed a bit over multiple updates, the base itself remains intact. I didn’t dig any of this out before getting the footage. It’s as is.

I’ll link my previous post about this place so you can see what the planet used to look like and get some of my headcanon lore on the location.

Swap target [Question]

Hello, I have a question regarding icons and the ability to switch between them. For example, when I’m playing an expedition, I have a base on a planet where many other players also have theirs. My base is located exactly between them (at least that’s how it looks from space), and I can’t target it precisely.

Instead of simply increasing speed and flying straight to it, I end up switching between other bases, which is quite frustrating. I’m playing on PS5, so the camera movement speed is different there. I hope you understand my issue. Thank you!

FPS drops gradually [Bug]

I’ve seen a couple of small threads about this but not recently: For a couple hours my game will play between 100-120 fps then after a while will slowly drop to below 60 fps and continue dropping, even sometimes getting down to or below 20 fps after warping through a teleporter or into a new system. The only thing that fixes this is a restart. I don’t believe it’s my PC because no other game I play does this.

Is this still a known issue? More importantly I want to know, are the devs aware of this?

+10,000% scanning rewards upgrade in early game?? [Question]

First time playing NMS, I'm not even 20 hours in and I've found an S module thingy for my scanner that pumps my scanning rewards (is that what they're called?) by 10,000%

Now whenever I scan something I often get 5 to 6 digits worth of units... is this normal?

I found that S module in one of those random bits mini-rocket looking things that are burning until you loot them

Looking for living ship upgrade seed. [Information Request]

I was wondering if anyone has a Grafted Eyes Node on their living ship with heat suppression 95%, damage 27%, and shield recharge on impact 149% who would also be willing to share the seed for the upgrade? I've tried opening hundreds of psychonic eggs to find one, with no luck. I've also tried searching the zencq/pi csv lists on github, but every upgrade of this type in the database only lists 2 of the three entries, and I haven't found one with these three stats, yet. So somebody posted this planet, and I visited it via portal with glyphs. I set nothing down and left where I came from. I now realized it was perfect for my castle base so I’m trying to find my way back. the problem is, it’s nowhere to be found on my teleportation terminal recent visits(makes sense since I didn’t teleport in I think?), I cant find the right Jean Luc for the glyphs, and I’ve been warping for about 30 minutes by setting it as my waypoint but I’m not sure how much more of that I can take lol. Can’t find echo locators [Question]

Hey everyone. Kinda new to the game but I just reset Atlas and am on my second galaxy. Currently showing The Space Anomaly, Atlas Eternal, and New Beginnings main quests. I have been trying to get the echo locators and have now visited two dissonant planets and spent hours roaming around each destroying dozens of dissonance resonators and not a single echo locators drop. Am I doing something wrong here? Missing something? Atlas Eternal I assume is an unending quest, right? What else could be keeping me from seeing this stuff?

Navigation question [Question]

Greetings fellow travelers! Have a question for the collective.

I discovered a waypoint on a planet and uploaded it. Set down an atmospheric harvester and set it to work. Had to log off, so I dropped a communication station next to harvester, a custom waypoint (the one you do from your scanner). Thought I would be good to find the location again, so summoned my freighter above me, landed in it and logged.

Came back on and cannot find the harvester, comm station, or the custom marker. Also, cannot find a way to navigate back to the one and only waypoint I found on the planet.

Is the disappearing marker/station./crafter a bug?

How do you navigate back to a previously discovered waypoint.

...and I know i probably should have dropped a temp. base to save me all this trouble, lesson learned. lol

Underground (cave) upgrade [Suggestion]

This new update to the marine system is wonderful, but "deeper". Releasing an update to the caves with bosses or prizes that have more value would be a great idea. Many of us know that digging in this game is essential, both to obtain minerals and to make an improvised hiding place when the sentries are after you. So nothing better than a much more detailed exploration, perhaps building a hidden base, there are so many options that you end up running out of numbers!

TLDR; Catalogue shows 32 remaining words for each language, even after collecting more.

600hrs in and hadn't completed any languages yet, so recently made that my informal mission. Checked how many words were remaining for each language and was surprised to see exactly 32 left for each... Cool, I thought. Went around collecting knowledge stones for a bit, checked progress in the catalogue, and still 32 remaining...

Above is a video showing Gek record before and after collecting 2 new words. (I also show the other languages having exactly 32 missing words)

Unsure if this is a bug or simply the way the catalogue is... If the latter, I gotta be honest that makes concentrated efforts to complete a language much less engaging. I'd rather be able to see how close I am, rather than add words to a void with no clue whether I'm 32 away or 320 :(

Is this audio a hint to something bigger? [Question]

I loaded up NMS tonight and heard this weird audio on my main screen. I can't seem to find anything about it here, on the wiki, or through Google. Since I have no idea how to begin to run a spectrogram on this thing, I'm hoping someone else out there already knows what it is and can link me to the wiki page I missed explaining it all. Edit: Just noticed the weird blips continue over the title card (i.e. "No Mans Sky") as you boot up your save. I don't know if that is relevant or not.

Big worm boi? [Question]

How can I scan this thing? The second it shows up it's almost immediately 600-1000 metres (or whatever distance is measured in in this game) away which my scanner won't reach. Also, is it possible to tame and capture it? Is it part of a quest?

I'm on the 3rd stage of my egg/living ship quest, never seen this before. There are Titan Worm burrows that spawn 3 Vile Spawns I have to kill but as for the worm itself I can't get near it.

Dont know if its already known (just discovered it by trying), but if you drive in an special way you will ascent.

If you want to recreate it, search for an planet with low gravity, try to get the pilgrim into air an follow this pattern: Get some good boost and airtime.

Sadly you cant go infinitly to space and beyond because the vehicle will go invisible after some time and the hit some weird feeling border.

Desperate Help [Information]

I am trying to finish this expedition. I have two tasks left. "go 1001u deep in water" and "find 5 Sea Glass". I know I need a water world. Someone told me it was in Rendezvous 2.

Problems:

My game is glitching so it won't stay on the task at hand. It defaults to find galactic core in the galaxy map

the Teleportation menu does not show Rendezvous 2.

What I need:

1 The name of the galaxy for Rendezvous 2

2 The gas giant's name that is a water world. or the name of the galaxy if it is not rendezvous 2.

I’m sitting at around 700 hours, I think, between my saves, and have completed 7 expeditions; to give you an idea of my experience level. I know there are likely mechanics I haven’t discovered yet, and I’m looking forward to reading about them in the comments should this post receive any attention

Hello Games and everyone attached, thank you, for delivering this game, and keeping me entertained and amazed for many hours. As much as I appreciate your hard work, some of the aspects of the game simply feel abandoned. I would like to offer my humble thoughts on ways the things might be built upon to enrich the player experience.

The Settlement system is fun to play with for a few days, but it gets repetitive and drawn out with little real rewards at endgame levels for players. I have often sat on my front porch, staring up at the ringed moon peeking through the noctalucyent clouds above, and thought “wouldn’t it be cool to establish trade routes?”

Imagine having the ability to oversee settlements in multiple systems and linking them together to establish routes. The rewards would be dependent on the types of systems, and planets, your settlements are on. Instead of creating 20 outposts just to mine various minerals, you would have an option to trade for them. To add to this if your routes happen upon another players route, you could attempt to establish trade in some fashion. This would give players a solid opportunity for more interaction in multiplayer.

Base portal systems are a fast way to get from point A to point B, but what if we could opt in to allow our portals to give access to a limited number of our other bases? I have made some amazing bases which nobody, aside from myself, will ever see....

Stupid question… [Question]

I’ve had the game for years but just picked it back up. How many years exactly did I have it? I didn’t know. So I checked the list of places I’ve visited and the last one says I discovered it 12 years ago and the one after that was 11 years ago. I’m confused because supposedly the game came out 2016 so am I forgetting something?

Is there anything I may be overlooking? [Question]

I have been looking all over for a hauler of any class with fan wings. Looking to build my own custom hauler. I have tried trade outposts, space stations, even coordinates of known crashed haulers. Either they don't spawn in or in regards to the known crash sites. They show the incorrect parts for that location. I made sure multiplayer is off and the portal glyphs and coordinates are correct.

Can't get multiplayer to work [Bug]

I recently bought the game on steam for me and a friend. And we struggle to connect with each other. I have played the game before on game pass so I thought to go and try that version but it also didn't work. We are on the same network and neither one of us can even see people in the anomaly. Also checked both our settings and multiplayer is on with joinable by anyone.

Am I crazy or are rocket boots a downgrade? [Question]

There's a delay before the jetpack engages, they're mildly unpredictable, they make airburst recharge less effective, and they drain the tanks faster even with adjacency bonus. As far as I can tell, the ONLY positive is they allow you to jet forward from launch instead of up, but you can do the same thing with a melee attack.

No Man's Sky Engine Name [Discussion]

I am aware that Hello Games did not use a commercial game engine like Unity or Unreal to develop No Man's Sky. Instead, from what I understand, custom programming tools, rendering technology, terrain generation techniques, etc. were developed by the team specifically for No Man's Sky.

Now, it looks like this "engine", or at least a separate fork of it, is going to be used to power the upcoming "Light No Fire".

Given that their custom tech will span multiple games soon, I wonder if Hello Games has considered giving it a name. Like CryTek's "CryEngine", Valve's "Source", or id Software's "id Tech".

Any ideas?

Maybe keep it simple... "HG Engine"?

Or maybe reference the game... "Atlas Tech"?

Or how about a classic 3 word title ... "Game No Engine"?

Someone will have pieces for an iron vulture, I was not able to do this expedition and I cannot use the methods that exist to do old expeditions because I play in the cloud and I cannot modify files and so on, I stopped playing for several months and I came back recently and I see that ship and I thought it was beautiful. But no method works for me to obtain it and I saw that people give the pieces they have to be assembled. I read some other solution.

Expedition terminal [Question]

How do I move items from an expedition to a regular game? I have completed an expedition and now I want to return to the normal game. I saw on the internet that I can transfer all my resources and items from the expedition. In the anomaly, I came to the necessary terminal, but there is no function I need. What should I do? I really need these things because I'm new to the game and getting some of them will be very difficult (for example starships and S class upgrades)

Why do the Gek hate everything I do or say? [Question]

In my playthrough, my standing with the Vy’keen and Korvax are decently high, especially with the Korvax, as my section of space is surrounded by Korvax systems, and I’ve fought off numerous pirates attacking Korvax freighters or factories, however when it comes to the Gek, I can’t seem to please any single Gek I interact with. Every time I say anything to them, they either “scold me” for my behavior, or they “report my behavior to the Gek trade federation”, and I don’t understand why. I’ve said numerous things to the Gek I’ve met, such as “Gek”, “FutureGek”, “SalesGek”, “ToilGek”, “friend”, “trade”, “help”, “despair”, “please”, “traveler”, but nothing I say to them gives me any positive outcome. Anything I do or say immediately decreases by standing with the Gek, and I don’t really understand why. I’m currently at a hostile Gek rank, and all I’ve done was talk to Gek, to no avail. Does anyone know how I can reverse this, other than spending millions of units on Gek relics as gifts? If the Gek continue to hate me for no reason, I may as well target Gek ships and freighters for loot, since I’m at a loss for what to do with them at this point. Any ideas?

Will my settlement population ever grow? [Question]

I focused on my settlement for a bit and had all stats perfect rather quickly, i.e. 1m productivity, 0 maintenance and 100% happiness. I think I'm also done with buildings, since I haven't seen new building opportunities in weeks, now. However, I also didn't get any tasks that gave me new settlers, either. I startet off with 66 and increased it to 73, but I feel kinda stuck there. Is there any way to increase that further? Are they linked to other stats. I can't tear down buildings, but I could try to get productivity or happiness down temporarily. Has anyone experimented with this already?

Exo Craft Glitching [Bug]

Are exo craft even usable at the moment? I've spent the last couple of days figuring out how you even get the geo base thing, and as soon as the exo craft spawns, the wheels are spinning all over the place and if I get in, it just kinda slides off the podium thing, but doesn't actually drive.

How’s the multiplayer experience in 2025? [Question]

I’ve been playing nms for a while but never tried multiplayer, I tried looking up videos on YouTube of simple gameplay but all the videos are years old and supposedly there was networking and stability issues is that still the case? Can I just do everything the same in multiplayer like I can in single player? I’d like to explore the inside of derelict freighters on multiplayer or getting bounties together. Also my friend is pretty new to nms, am I able to help find him a freighter in multiplayer? Is there like a synchronized flying mode? Items disappearing from refiners. [Question]

I noticed that I left loads of Runnig Mould in my refiner went to do some missions, came back and everything was gone.

What resets this? What can I safely do without loosing the Refiner inventory?

I also noticed that if I teleport to my base which has Running Mould I can keep teleporting back and farming the resource as it simply respawns. Any other uses of this glitch?

I am pretty new to the game.

I can't get into edit mode (PS5) [Question]

A few days ago I noticed that I can't get into edit mode when building in my freighter. I can select edit mode and it says that it is in edit mode, but nothing can be selected. (Yes, I can switch between edit and construct.)

Today I found that the same behavior is exhibited on planets, including my primary base. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there any suggestions on what to do?

How do you deal with finding all the moons of a gas giant? [Question]

You've made it to the gas giants! Let's visit all the moons. Uh, did I visit that one already? I have no idea. (pulses around the giant) (pulses MORE around the giant) (pulses MORE EVEN LONGER around the giant) Nope, already got that one: repeat.

Here's a method I use but I'd like to hear others. The problem of visiting all the moons without "revisiting" some of them is that the moons aren't all in the same flat plane like planets are and you can't focus your scanner on them because of that pesky giant planet in the way. We need a fixed starting point, the space station, and always visit the moons in a similar order. exit the space station and face the giant boost forward a little to clear the other ships' markers from your radar as they can block your view of the moons now you can see all the moons on your radar; BE METHODICAL and go to the highest moon first make your visit and return to the space station when done; don't visit another undiscovered moon yet or you'll get confused, possibly visiting a moon you've already visited on the other side of the giant repeat these steps visiting moons from top to bottom: visit the moon that's next-lower than the previous one until you've visited them all

You'll burn extra fuel this way, returning to the space station between visits, but Tritium is cheap anyway. Would be so much easier if you could tag an unexplored moon in your Discoveries and get a waypoint you could lock-on to and pulse there.

HI! Yesterday I started the game for the first time on PS5. At the bottom left of the first screen there is a number that starts with 138, so I'm guessing version 1.38. The game doesn't ask me to download additional files. The version is correct? shouldn't it be 5.5?

I think I'm doing vr wrong [Question]

So I recently got a headset in the cables and all the other junk and I wanted to try no man's sky in VR. I'm able to connect just fine and connect the steam VR but it just shows me the widescreen and it doesn't track my head movements. The only thing different is that I'm using a PS5 controller instead of the quest 3 controllers. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Flea melting sentinals [Video]

I took my flea out today, it wouldn't take off because the launch thrusters were empty. I checked them and they were full, but the game was asking for a 300% level. So I spawned it at the anomaly and headed out from there. Turns out my canons DPS glitched to 25000.

It was fun for a while, but next reload it was back to normal.

Base decoration overhaul [Suggestion]

I was looking at some of my older pc backups recently and stumbled upon a few of my older PS4 gamesaves. To my delight, I found a backup from Decemeber 2016!!!! SWEET!!

it should have my starter ship and the bonus and all that!! get out my thumbdrive, format it to fat32, setup the ps4 folder structure, copy files.

fire up ps4, copy file over (nice it does see it as a save file), open nms.. no saves.. :( just my current ones.

load up goatfungus save editor, sadly does not recognize save file at all. wonder if i need to use save wizard?

well, decided finally to just put a support ticket in with HG and see if maybe they would fix ??? if anyone has any other ideas, let me know!

Thinking of starting over [Question]

Hi, 4000 hours in, my main save is ~2500 hours, standard mode, bases in 256 galaxies, mines and farms for almost everything. So why am I thinking of starting over? I had a Survival save that I was enjoying a lot more than my Standard save, but it got borked when I tried playing on a new laptop with an underpowered graphics card. Reinstalling from backups did not help. I went back to my Standard save, and discovered my home planet, a pink-sky paradise, was now overrun with aggressive sentinels, so I pulled up roots. I then realized that having almost infinite resources on my person made the game a LOT less interesting. I want to go back to the grind, but I don't want to leave my old bases cluttering up the universe.

I'm a PC player on Steam. What's the best way to erase your old save from the Universe?

NMSPT: You can revert from the experimental branch with a save editor. [Information]

I decided to revert my save a while back because I wanted to play the game with others, and found out that I couldn't because we were on different versions.

Normally, that means reverting and then either A: Hoping that standard and experimental are currently synced so there's no conflict, or B: waiting for the stable branch to update so that it's version number is equal to or greater than the version number of your save. I planned the latter, but after two weeks I started to get impatient.

So, I did some googling to see if it was possible to fix, but came up empty, so I decided to download a save editor and see if it would let me edit the raw JSON. It will. I loaded up a currently working save and chose [Edit] from the menu at the top, and chose [Edit Raw JSON] from the drop-down. From there, I just clicked version, noted the number, and then loaded up the non-working save and changed the version number to match.

Note that you should always back up a save before screwing around like this. I'd been reading the experimental branch patch notes, so I knew that nothing in my save file should actually differ from the stable branch, as all of the listed changes were external to an individual save, so I went for it. Nothing I did here would be considered safe by HG, I'm sure, but I personally think that if you want to go back to stable, the sooner you do so, the better.

It's recommended to back up your save before switching to experimental, and I did, but that was a long time ago, and I really didn't want to lose the progress I'd made, up to and including my new favorite planet.

I may have soft locked my character [Discussion]

So I was playing last night and made the amazing decision to reset the galaxy. I ended up picking the serene planets and when the whole cutscene finish playing I got myself together and realized all my upgrades and components were broken. This isn't a big problem because I have tons of space on my exosuit and I always keep tons of necessary metals on my personal to craft stuff. So I go to find my ship and I get the ship try to take off and everything is also broken. Here's the problem, I made the amazing decision to have a fleet of Interceptors. So all that special material I did farm for is in my storage and I can't get to my storage because I can't fix my ship. I went to sleep shortly after this realization and now it's dawned on me I may have soft locked my character. Any help or suggestions are welcome.

How do I get freighter research upgrade modules? [Question]

I’ve gotten two over several weeks of freighter expeditions, used them to unlock portal room and stellar harvesting (is there a way to have all stellar harvesters dump their entire inventory to freighter hold? I made 19 of them when I unlocked it and while they’re nowhere near as good as I thought they’d be it’s incredibly annoying to check each one individually) and have no idea how I’m supposed to get enough for the drive upgrades

In Stellar Multitudes [Question]

So I started this quest line a month ago but got sidetracked. and now that I want to finish, there is no option to “restart using local system” It’s telling me to visit “xyz” system but that was MANY systems ago. I've been getting 5 star sentinel levels and engaging in combat and it says walker has arrived but it never does. I've killed loads of the mech type sentinels but they don't drop the walker brain.

Crafting for cash [Question]

It takes a lot of units to add storage/tech spots to my ever changing inventory of ships. I have been crafting circuit boards and living glass. Is there something more lucrative with the more complex recipes? I'm not good with numbers so I don't know if it's worth the extra effort or not to start collecting things other than plants. Maybe it all equals out in the end? Advice appreciated. 😁

Where this money come from [Question]

I am new to NMS. I have a save and so does my daughter whos 10. Her save is 8hours pretty much me supervising and doing all the reading and she loves flying around and base building. I left her alone to teleport to a spacestation and visit the anomoly for some patterns while im on the tiolet. She starts shouting that she has 780 million money. I tell her dont be ridiculous, get mommey to read the number. Mum confirms she has 780million. I ask how, she thinks its from selling omhic gel, which she sold at the terminal. I start to reseaarch what sells for that much and conclude someone gave her the money somehow. Weird structures - what are those? [Screenshot - possible bug?]

So i was exploring a planet and came across those weird things. At first i thought a solar starships landed, but those were literally just wings sticking off the ground. Are those bugged solar ships that somehow spawned inside terrain? I tried to dig them up with a terrain manipulator, but it seemed to dive deeper into the soil as i was digging.

Just completed the jump to the Galaxy Core on Permadeath - Some Final Thoughts [Information]

Survival Mode/Permadeath really isn't that much harder, you just have to be a little more careful and it's a little more grindy with the reduced space for carrying stuff. With regards to point #1, it really helped to build up my Exosuit and work in all the Hazard protection boosts as well as shielding. After all, the point is staying alive. Initially I was jumping to Black Holes to go a few thousand at a time, but was able to find a Monolith which lead to a portal which lead me to about 5k Ly from the Core. Main reason I was doing it was the achievement, so while I was enjoying the exploration aspect on the journey, I wanted to get it done. You don't need an Atlantid Drive to make the final jump, nor do you need a crazy jump range (I did it with a Sentinel Interceptor with around 1700 Ly range). The hardest part was actually finding a system on the edge that would allow me to make the jump. Spent a good hour or more looking for said system, but eventually found one. Personal recommendation... don't make the jump in a Sentinel Interceptor... because you likely won't be able to repair it to get off the ground unless you start on a Dissonance planet (which I don't even know if you can do). When you jump to the Core, you start in a brand new galaxy and everything is broken and I don't know how I'll be able to repair my Launch Thrusters or Drives since it needs the Sential specific parts Make sure you go with a full load of just about every element and a TON of wiring harnesses if you go through with a fully modified Exosuit/Multi-Tool/Spaceship... you're going to need it all to repair EVERYTHING, or at least focus on the main pieces you'll need first.

100+ hours in, really enjoyed the game and even though it's now at 100%, I'll definitely come back to it to scratch the exploration itch and find some of the cooler stuff in the game I...

Are all fauna available as pets? [Question]

I'm a fairly new player, and I play on ps5. I keep seeing others in the anomaly with some really cool companions. I even saw one person on planet with a giant sandworm, and another I did a misson with had a dragon type flying thing.

Is there any way to get these?! Does anyone maybe have an egg they can share or a planet they can be found? I've searched a bunch of systems and planets and haven't found anything, and I REALLY want a nice flying pet. They're so dang cool.

After a Certain Point, How do YOU Use Your Units? [Question]

After a certain point, units and nanites cease to be really meaningful. Yes, you can always go buy another ship, another freighter, etc...but once you've it that area where you've just making minor adjustment to number go up, how do you spend your units? Do you quit farming? Do you find some way to draw up your own RP story where they become useful? Whats your end game with units and nanites?

Customisation still lacking? [Discussion]

Of course, like everyone, I commend the effort HG has put in to this game to turn it around over the years after its.. less than perfect.. launch but this far in to the game and with so many updates, why are basic customisation options not in the game?

Why can't we repaint or decorate our ships? Why are there still such limited choices for suit designs/patterns? Why are there still only 2 lines of colour choices instead of say a spectrum wheel? Same goes for base colours, there's only 9 colour options for walls etc. Why are there still so few module choices for building ships?

I came back to NMS a couple of weeks ago after not touching it for years and I'm having a blast on it but I honestly expected so much more in terms of ship building, aesthetic options etc. Especially since the first thing everyone mentions about NMS is the vast amount of updates the gane has had. Surely letting us freely paint or edit our ships is something simple and kinda standard that could have been added years ago? Is there a reason or am I the only one who cares about it? Considering we spend so much time in and around our vehicles, it seems strange to not have basic customisation features that we've had in games for decades.

Can’t cross save. Beta full. Months now. Am I doing it wrong? [Question]

I cannot wait to play on the ps5 pro enhanced version but my save is stuck in the ps4 version and I cannot cross save it yet. I’d start over but I’m over 150hr in and have everything oh so perfect. I jumped through all the hoops correctly and it just always says beta is full. I check once a week.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Do I have to restart the expedition? [Question]

Although supposedly the automatic rendezvous milestone completion was patched, I still have the first rendezvous milestone completed without any way to navigate back to the rendezvous to take the photo. I completed nearly every other milestone just in the first system. It should show up in the galactic map, but for whatever reason there's no "Current Mission" mode anymore.

Few things I noticed, help for players in early to mid game I guess. [Information]

I do realise I’m in no shape or form an expert in this game and ppl in this sub with my mere 320h total in gameplay, but I wanted to share a couple of things that I have noticed, and haven’t seen being spoken a lot about in here, unless I just wasn’t looking right lol

Here it is: Remember that within each cluster on galaxy map, each station will be the same guild, very useful if you’re hunting specific upgrades or goods, but first, build up your guild rank ASAP to benefit from each guild as you need at a time.

1a. If you visit enough stations (I suspect it’s 10 plus stations - still researching) and comeback to the one you’ve been at the start of your session, it should reset, and you can claim the items again.

If you find an exotic planet in the system, don’t ignore it, it most likely will only contain one species of fauna, easy towards Galapagos trophy (if you’re into completing platinum on ps5)

When you make a session out of point 1-1a, keep a close eye on ships that dock during your visit, I’ve found most exotics when trying to hop around for Salvaged Frigate Modules, the chances of spotting one of those ships probably comes from the fact that it’s like reloading a save but in a new location, sort of like ship hunting technique I suppose.

It’s easier to build your dream hauler than buy one 🤣 I found out the hard way (was looking for around 280 in game hours lol) and then it took me 25 mins to buy parts I like from 3 different haulers, and build one myself. Don’t be like me 😅

Lastly for this post, just want to say that Dreadnought Freighters… what is the fuss all about? I had one, didn’t like it one bit, got an S Class Venator, never looked back, looks great !

This was my first post with these kind of suggestions, as I don’t dat feel confident earlier as your knowledge here is...

Nautilus Light blinding PS5 [Information]

Mineral Data Mission [Question]

I received a planetary mission to scan 4 unique minerals on the current planet and the reward is a frigate module. At that point, I already scanned 5 rocks.

The planet has Bone-Stripping Acid Storms. I've been going around for a while and have found 3 new rocks in caves and on hills, but I can't seem to find a fourth and it doesn't seem like it has any water. When I go to minerals analyzed in Exploration Guide, it says 0/12. Assuming the 0 is a bug, does that mean I have 4 more I can find or should I give up?

Base Building [Question]

Is there a reason they haven't improved base building? To be clear, I'm being sincere, not critical.

Like, would QoL upgrades break old bases or is it just a lack of demand from users? I know they added lots in Foundations, but it didn't really help with the jankyness.

I'd love to see more/better snap points, less janky camera undulating, or not going for a swim when going through hallways underwater. I know there's mods but a lot of this functionality can and should be vanilla (without wire glitching). Am I in the minority here?

Lava!!! [Suggestion]

I just touched down on a volcano planet and it got my noggin joggin that it would be cool if lava was thing in the game.

I don't think it would be that hard to implement, just retextured water with a damage value. And it would not only add more immersion but could also open up new content like new exocrafts and exosuit mods.

Could someone summarize the whole Gek situation? [Question]

I recently finished the main missions and the necessary side quests to access the gas giants. I’ve gotten very far in the game, but I admittedly skipped through 80% of the dialogue.

I’ve played for hundreds of hours; I mostly gather pretty things, make cute bases and fly around. I never got into the lore and I’m seriously regretting it. My character is currently a Gek.

I have tons of broken info to work with; I know there was a primitive Gek(?) species who were evil, and I know about the autophages, but are they related? How are the Gek so cute and peaceful now? Are the Gek-looking creatures on planets also related to the bad ones?

Am I offending the sweet Korvax by simply being a Gek, meaning I should change my character immediately? How did the Geks and Korvax come to dislike each other in the first place? Does the Vy’Keen have a part in this?

The Gek are just so cute and I want to know everything, from fellow players who actually paid attention where I should have.

Is it possible to stop an active anomaly detector? [Question]

Hello

Im trying to find the living frigates. I looked at people telling that I should just fly around with the anomaly detectors until whalesong pops up.

I don't know if I want to fly into the empty space for a very long time, but if I stop, even between discoveries, it will always waste the anomaly detector.

I did saw some post saying that they "just" do something and it doesnt waste the detector, but the post otherwise did not make sense.

So is it possible to stop the detector so I dont have to fly into the emptiness? Or is it the only way?

Titan expedition - first System - how to make chromatic metal [Question]

I am on the Titan Expedition in the first system, and there are no deposits of Copper, Cadmium, Emeril or Indium so I am at a loss as to how to create Chromatic metal (which I need to create Antimatter.
I marked a load of copper to go on the expedition with me, but that needs me to connect to the anomaly, and i can't summon it in this system.

No Man's Sky Keeping multiple Saves Method [Information]

The method I use does not work for console players, PC users only. No Man's Sky uses an overwrite save method in which gives two different points of saves, these two saves will be over written. The method I use is a bit unorthodox but it works and it allows me to keep save points through out the entire playthrough in which I can reload or revert from that save point I saved at.

The folder that contains the saves on PC is located in your

C:\Users........The Name Of Your Profile.... \AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS

Create a quick access from HelloGames Folder and add it to your side bar in windows explorer.

Open this folder before starting the game.

Jump out of your Ship to create the save point.

Press both Alt + Tab Keys at the same time after the save point while still in the game, it leaves the game running in the background.

Once you're outside of the game and in the folder you had left open select the folder that has all of the game data and saves in it, I.E. st_########........

Press Ctrl + C keys to make a copy of that folder and then press Crtl + V to paste that copy of the folder and you rinse and repeat this method at any save point, the paste will always pick the next number in line for that save allowing you to revert back to that save point.

mouse click back into the game, still leaving that folder open.

To Load a previous save, you need to exit the game and rename that saved folder to the name of the original save thus allowing you to load to the point in the game you wanted.

You can create as many of these backup save copies as you like, once you're done playing for that day you can move them to a different name keeping folder for safe keeping leaving the original folder in place.

Say for example, I claimed a Freighter and decided I didn't want it, only I've already overwritten the two save files, I can jump...

Weather warning: Extreme wind event.

To all my fellow Australian interlopers currently in the south-east Queensland area: please make sure to batten down and stay safe in the cyclone, get anything out of the wind that has even a small chance of getting thrown around by it, and make sure you have all the stuff you'll need on hand for when we inevitably lose power sometime in the next 24 hours. Keep an eye on the BOM website for legit updates (there is some really dubious stuff being posted on Facebook right now), and check out their tropical cyclone 7-day forecast map to see how it's tracking if you need to. This is going to be a lot more intense than the usual summer storms we get - the wind will be up to 130kph and is going to suck. So will the rain, and there'll be no guarantee that we won't be without power for an extended period, so be sure to charge any devices and powerbanks you have on hand and use them sparingly if necessary once the main force of the storm hits.

Take care and don't take any chances out there.

this is the first time I hopped across galaxies, so you can imagine my dismay when I looked in my inventory when EVERYTHING, my multitool, ship, exosuit, EVERYTHING is broken and I have to start from scratch just to get back to baseline. this is a stupid mechanic. I cannot be bothered with this game any longer. of course I should have equipped a temporary garbage ship/multitool before making the jump, but I shouldn't have to. the principle of thing is stupid beyond belief. I don't know what killed me? [Question]

1,330 hours in the game, according to Steam. I don't remember ever dying in combat before today, and I don't understand what happened today.

I was on a chromatic fog world, in a green star system, uninhabited, no space station. I was just going around exploring and scanning things, when suddenly. . . I was in the middle of explosions!

I reflexively took off with jetpack, the way I would if Sentinels were shooting at me, but it didn't do any good. I was still being hit. It sounded like starship weapons, like when pirates are attacking a trading post, but it seemed like it was just aimed right at me personally.

My starship was some distance away, so I tried summoning it. My ship came in for landing, and I ran for it, still taking fire, and I just almost made it to my ship. . . and then I was dead. The game said I died of "starship combat".

And I have no idea. There was no warning, and there was no explanation of who was shooting at me or why. It wasn't a star system where I would expect other players to show up, and I saw no notice of any other players arriving in the system, and I also have PVP switched off anyhow.

The few times I've ever got killed before, it was because I miscalculated or did something dumb (falling off a really tall mountain, or blowing myself up with a exocraft cannon) and lessons were learned. But this time. . . I was doing nothing out of the ordinary, and like a bolt out of the blue I was steamrolled. What happen??

NMS bug robbed me of my Void Egg & 3200 QS [Bug]

For background, I completed Starbirth for the first time (on this 2nd character) about 5-6 weeks ago, so I already owned a living ship. I wanted to buy another Void Egg and actually hunt for one that I like since this first one was very plain.

I purchased the Void Egg at the anomaly, and when I start pulsing, the living ship came and sent me to some coordinates. So far so good. As soon as I touched down on the planet, though, I knew something was wrong. There was no ship there, and the quest wasn't even trying to send me to a ship. It sent me to a monolith, and eventually gave me the stem and a 20 hour timer. In other words, it somehow sent me on the original 5-day Starbirth mission again, despite my having already completed it.

The next day, I was flying my original living ship about the time that 20 hour timer was supposed to expire. I looked at the item, and I now had an Active Void Egg, and a Mature Neural Stem, but the mission was just gone. I don't know why it vanished, but obviously I should have never had it in the first place. So, I'm now out the 3200 QS I paid for the egg, have no egg, and no mission.

I'm assuming there's nothing I can do at this point, and I need to delete those 2 items? Are there any workarounds for this?

Starting planet listed in the JSON export of one's save file? [Question]

A while back, someone responded to one of my comments lamenting about losing my birth planet (since back then, we could only have a single base, so you often had to make hard choices when moving, and I made one, and I lost my home world). Anyway, somone mentioned that it was possible to find one's starting planet coordinates in the JSON output of one's NMS save file. I recently got into Cross Save so I loaded up the Goatfungus save editor on my Mac and grabbed my save file via Steam. That said, the JSON export from the save editor has over 2.2 million lines (at least according to my code editor's display).

Anyone know anything about this?

Cross-Save Timeframe? [Question]

I’m at a crossroads with how to continue my adventure and would appreciate advice from the Vets here. My PS4 save has my main settlement and my favourite ship (Used it for years now) and I’ve no way to get any of it on PS5 (As far as I know) I really don’t see the point in making a whole new save when I’ve hundreds of hours just sitting there on another console. Is there any way to transfer ship and settlement ownership across console generations on the same PSN? Or would I have to use a third party? I’m not even sure I could find my PS4 planet on PS5 considering you can’t join yourself with one account. Does anybody know when more cross save slots will be available? [Question]

I imagine this is probably asked to death by now, so sorry if it is, but I can’t play this game on my ps5 because it overheats within 20 minutes now. I bought the game again on PC, but can’t enable cross save because there are no free slots. Is there like a release schedule for them? Or do they just sorta pop up sometimes?

Sharing my New Base [Screenshot]

I mostly finished making my first "real" base, and I wanted to share it! It has been my main source of stress relief over the past 2 weeks, and is one of the last remaining goals I had in the game. If anyone would like to visit, I have included the planet address in the screenshot - let me know what you think! The base name is "Tower of Solitude" - it is on an ocean Paradise planet that I discovered, and is seemingly the only base there.

I know I already asked a question today, but I have another. I remember why I stopped playing, it was because I opted to reset my Galaxy later. After I did that the quest line and location to go back and reset it disappeared and I can no longer find it. 👀 (PS5)

Is Corrupted Sentinel Swarm Bugged on Switch? [Question]

So I am playing on Relaxed, I went to Dissonant planet, I grabbed Graviton Ball and it summoned Regular Sentinel Swarms. I have not switched my difficulty, I started on Relaxed and to ensure that I am not tempted to change it later one of the first things I did at the very start of the game was lock my game mode to Relaxed. Are they bugged or do they not spawn on Relaxed, as mentioned above this is for the Switch version.

I am trying to look for Crystalized hearts, if they are indeed bugged anyone know here to find the mobs that drop these Hearts?

Question about new consoles/cross save. [Question]

Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows which console is best for playing NMS. I have an Xbox one xs now but I'm planning on getting a new console soon. Should I get the PS5 or the Xbox mini fridge? Also does cross saving mean that my save files can be used on the new console? Thank you for letting me ask this here because Google AI can't be trusted in my opinion. Hey all (rant…?) [Discussion]

I’m in the emergency room now and getting IVs done probably will be admitted I’ve been at it for 7 hours. I have messed up my electrolytes. I’ve got exams for school going on, and am taking the DAT dental school admission test in 20 days. Which I’ll get back to working on now. But just wanted to say NMS is a good game.

I get bored of it and can’t sum the motivation to play. I’ve played 10 minutes in the last 8 months of it and I wish I spent so much more. I love the idea of the game and I let life’s stress get I. The double gaming how I used to game. Playing and meeting and building a community, rather have pigeon holed myself into a room or pushing for academia without enjoying the old school community I had

I hope to come back and be with you guys some day soon. They want to academically withdraw and I just don’t know. I am so hypercompetitive and am aiming to hit the ivys of the field I don’t know. This has become a rant. Thrown a lot on me today.

August 9th, 2026 is No Man's Sky 10th Anniversary. Here are 16 updates that would finally achieve Hello Game's vision of a living, breathing universe. [Discussion]

No Man's Sky has clearly been a labor of love by Hello Games for the last 9 years.

After 30+ free updates it is now an excellent game that I would recommend to anyone.

Still, it isn't quite the "living, breathing universe" the Hello Games team imagined.

How could any game be?

Here are the 16 updates I think could change that. 1. Creatures that Make Exploration Memorable and Rewarding.

  1. Improved creature animations, behavior, and ecology.

No Man's Sky Trailer (2014)

Despite some subtle predator/prey mechanics, creatures still roam around aimlessly on whatever terrain they happen to exist on. Their design, actions, and behavior is unrelated to the planet they exist on.

This creature variety often breaks immersion and makes planets feel largely similar - a feline quadruped and giant floating tentacle creature aimlessly walking around the same rocky terrain.

What if instead, creatures were generated to feel like part of an ecology? Creatures could be seen interacting with their environment by grazing on grassy pastures, eating certain plants, sleeping in burrows, climbing trees, traveling as a herd through trenches, and knocking down trees?

  1. Deeper Interactions with creatures

Much of the action in No Man's Sky still feels like "reaching a destination" and "pressing a button". Adding interactions to spend more time in the world and less time navigating through menus. Encounters like:

  • Finding a wounded creature and scanning to see what's wrong. This could lead to a) finding a plant nearby that can be used to heal it, developing the cure and feeding it to the creature. b) leading you to the domain of the dangerous predator who killed it.

  • Attaching a tracker to creatures to...

What happened to the postal I found? [Question]

I have found (and lost) the portals now. The way I found the portal was through the maps from the cartographer. Found the monolith. I had 2 or 3 glyphs. Now the map name changed. I can only spawn 2 things, which teaches me a word. And my recent visits from last night…. Gone. I am playing on the ps4

Possible First Wave Exotic [Screenshot]

Found this neat exotic ship randomly on a new save. Thought it was a fluke that it showed up so quick in the space station, but every time I go there or reload it is about the 6th ship that lands (replicated 3x). Super slots are in a pretty nice configuration too!

Let me know if it is just me with remarkable luck or you all get it too.

Sooo I Got Struck By Lightning [Discussion]

Didn't even know that was a feature. I was on a planet where the Mountains where as Tall as the Atmosphere and a freak Radioactive SuperCell Rolled in and everything started glowing around me and started sparking up. All of a sudden I got zapped it took like maybe a 10th of my health but what a cool feature. (Bonus I am so full of storm crystals)

What do you do if someone builds on your base? [Question]

So on this past Friday I had found a 10x mold deposit & built a base on it for context. Earlier today I was farming mold from it for nanites & it was fine, however I took a 2 hour break & came back. I end up having someone else's base fused into mine. Is there some way to get rid of it or do I need to report it?

Photo mode glitch [Question]

I have been able to take pics of creatures and planets with glyphs in photo mode up till now. The glyphs just aren't appearing even after restarting. Anyone know how to fix this? (Im on Xbox)

Discovery Name's keep resetting g [Bug]

When I name and upload a discovery, sometimes I will gk back there and find out that the planet/animal/plant has referred back to its original name. A good example of this is my home planet, which I named Hoth, keeps changing back to the original name, Slowel VI. Is there any way to prevent this, am I doing something wrong perhaps?

They who returned serious bug! Help? [Bug]

So I am at the part where I have to earn a core for my staff. But when I present the Grip it says some stuff. I am able to repeat "values" or "conform" then select my quest. BUT quest objective is EMPTY/BLANK and rewards show the staff part and another Blank space (2/2 is blank).

The quest autocompletes earning me standing with them but not giving the staff part.

Help?
