Turns out the minotaur is just as useful if not more useful underwater. :) I saved alot of materials that would've been used on the nautilus after figuring this out.
(Disclaimer: The only downside I have seen so far is black flickering visual glitches from the dust whenever it walks, which I can only assume is because that dust wasn't meant to ever overlap water. This could also be an issue with my computer, not sure.)

I feel a freighter section for storing scrapped ship parts would be good, you visit scrapping stations and break apart ships for parts, and then visit a shipyard and construct a ship out of what you found maybe?

I have it where if you scrap a shipyou can learn new ship blueprints. And I think its a good idea to have unique blueprints for ship scrapping. But I like the idea of using a ton of resources and building a starship, frigate, or even freighter from scratch if you have all the blueprints unlocked.

Good news. You CAN mine asteroids with you mining laser. Bad news, it takes like 15 seconds and you get 3 ore (each time).

Worse news while in space you lose 50% of life support every 4 seconds

You can walk safely on asteroids with atmosphere if you are near frigates but when you get too far away you start taking space damage.

You can also jump from a frigate into the atmosphere of a planet and do a full on spacejump

That's what it is for normal starships I've never seen if freighters have the same odds. But I've never had to reload even close to 50 times in a T3 so if feels like the odds may be better. That or I'm just lucky on the two times I've done it.
