They should lower the animal rate in general, most planets, including hazardous planets, have like +-15 animals on them

It used to be like 7 average, so the blob frequency was lower at the same time

They should only bump up the animal rate if they become more varied, but I believe HG will work on an asset variety update some day, maybe the next one

Just make sure to backup your save game because obviously going back to say 1.0.7 like I did means features like multiplayer and ringed planets aren't a thing in this build so it will just overwrite them.
