@scenic kettle that seems to be a glitch associated with ruins that have the artifact treasure chest.. after you loot the chest, if you come across the ruin site again, it's elevated in the air like that.. you can confirm you've been there already by trying to loot the artifact chest, which will yield you nothing if you can even interact with it

My planet is chromatic fog, and depending on the state of the fog/rain the ground either looks dark purple, green or grey.

The water is always a bright cyan though.
