but the way this happens to me is I teleport to the base and it does that... so I would have been away (logged out, in another system, in and out of my ship) at least there would be an auto save AFTER I made my base.

I think it's just the process of reloading the last save, it's not saved the building like this, it's procedurally inserted it into the ground.

Well the freighters have hyperdrive, and the legacy saves had the upgrades, they just didn’t work - so I think they will switch the upgrades to modules to stay in line with the update
