Mod: RayRod's Overhaul Immersion Update
@patent bone That version of the mod has been released for a long time and it is a (custom build) that is standalone from all builds, containing every version of NMS ported into one build (alongside content that I've made). Therefore, whether an update hits or not it's irrelevant - even though it will take minutes to update and integrate it into NEXT.
Something pre-written:
The nature of every update to No Man's Sky usually results in various mods needing to be updated. Also, not every mod/file gets outdated when a new update hits. We also have a community of people who will work to help update the commonly used tools that people use for making mods.
The common rhetoric/misconception that is spoken here and there within the NMS community all around is usually of the following: "What is the point of making MODS, before the update? It's just going to break anyway." - That is 100% pure speculation.
The reality is that we don't know what NEXT will change in totality and no one on the outside of HG's w/o official insight on their newer file hierarchy and executable can conclude that. Also, in the worst case scenario... modders who know what they are doing can update their mods which usually takes minutes (depending on what their mod is and does). Working on mods now, in a strategic way, can also lay the groundwork for quick updating... and those who are interested in research and becoming more skilled with working with the files do not care whether a new update will break it or not. They can simply update it if they plan to. Also, by this logic... "All modders should never make mods... because a new update is bound to hit at some point". No, we prepare for things like this. It's really a small non-issue, that is not worth being concerned about.

I posted the two blue ones in the playstation community and someone asked if I had a beta access to 1.3
I never even knew that portals would be blue so that was a lucky coincidence
and if someone wants to know how I did it, I just simply shot a plasma grenade in the middle of the portal and went into photo mode as it exploded
And you can tell it's 1.2 from unactivated pillars on both sides and missing glyph input thing

The biomes that we've seen so far (except 2), pretty much look like the Atlas Rises biomes (just a lot prettier with visual upgrades alongside newer things added to the mix). On Atlas Rises, the biomes are very plain and lackluster and there is a lot of wasted potentials. The game engine currently uses like 1% of its potential on Atlas Rises. Now, I'm not saying that this is what will happen with NEXT. We haven't seen enough yet, and what we have seen looks beautiful. Also, even with all that is done on NEXT, even if there are 10,000 more updates after NEXT) HG's will never reach a limit/cap on the potential that their amazing game engine truly has. This game engine (from a biome standpoint) has nearly infinite potential. I'm also not saying that we've seen it all - but the pre-release worlds are flooded with life, an immense amount of effort, and procedural assets handcrafted with rules... and that can take an extremely long time to do, for just 1 biome. A pre-release biome file is also about 70x larger than one Atlas Rises biome.
I do appreciate all that HelloGames has done and is doing. I'm not, not appreciating it; but this is a mere observation (strictly based upon what we've seen so far). Upon working with the in-game world generation, data mining the files, and handcrafting procedural worlds with rules and pushing the game's generation further than it was even pushed further than vanilla, pre-release... I've come to realize something. Virtually 1 pre-release biome, has about 50x more detail and content set to get loaded (into the world's generation) than every single Atlas Rises biome combined. I am specifically speaking from a biome/variety generation standpoint because the game looks better than ever before now visually and artistically (for the most part in my opinion). I am also at a point (where I can look at a biome) and pinpoint every detail and everything that is going on... even from the NEXT trailer with all of the new content added.
Here are a few pre-release worlds for example:

For all we know, we may encounter worlds like these โค
But (the series of mysterious pre-release builds going back to BETA NMS - E3 - Mid 2016 - that have hundreds of thousands of different mechanics) at minimum which I've written a lot about; are builds that the general user has only seen glimpses of; and there's a lot that has not been shown (that would need to be first hand from a "restore this or that kind of thing" or from a data miner perspective".
But what's exciting for a lot of people, is that the game appears to be heading towards the more painterly style, in many aspects... and that HelloGames is continuing to build upon the game. However, there is so much depth to a series of "totally different" builds (that are drastically different compared to all released versions) - that they are virtually uncomparable in almost all aspects - as they are unique in their own kind of styles.
One thing that was clearly not present then was Anti Aliasing and ofc various other things - But in totality, there is evidence in display (when you look through the lens of an understanding of how the game works in and out) - how much more of the engine's potential was truly being fleshed out on older builds - and we are now beginning to see the game become more and more like the older builds (with modernizations and improvements and new content and new features) with features that were spoken of pre-release, now being incorparated.
If you think about it, the NEXT trailer is in the fashion of the very first original trailer style. I wonder if each update from here on out (might be intended to be a revitilized version of all the trailers in integrates) but we have to wait and see - as we've also likely only been shown the tip of the iceberg... and surely HG's has a lot more in store for us on NEXT.
Like for eg... a few things (that was present pre-release in older builds) that are not confirmed in NEXT as far as we know.
Planetary rotation (we've seen rotating clouds with the new shader), Orbital mechanics, procedural factions, on-planet space battles, superformula related mechanics at play that would cause things in the universe (including every single blade of grass to be unique), astoundingly intelligent creature ai, detailed worlds and biomes to the extent that they once were... (I could go on and on)
- But this is merely an observation - not a critique. Next is going to be freaking amazing - But, there is so much depth to older builds (mostly, of what isn't spoken about) - that they are all just different in style.

Considering how Hello Games plans stuff out in odd ways, like waking titan, I wouldnโt be surprised if they showed their end product at the E3โs and started the game in 1.0 as the very beginning of No Mans Sky, vise versa of what other devs do
Also, notice that the xbox build will be shipping with all versions of the game (this is so players can have an opportunity to experience the different eras of the game) - as each build is unique in it's own style - and in the same way, NEXT is a set apart build - that is amazing - and does have similarities to pre-release builds (as far as what we've seen before) - but I guess I'm intending to re-direct perspective a bit away from the E3 vs NEXT rhetoric.
As they share similarities - But there's lots of drastics differences (subjectively) - from what we've only been shown so far. But there's awesomeness in both builds - So, when NEXT arrives - I will be attaining all the golden gems (in key areas) from every build and fusing it into NEXT to create an expanded NEXT build. Even though NEXT Is gorgeous ๐

@remote valve Check this out - It's a list of certain pre-release mechanics that I've datamined. It's only 1% of what I've found, and likely only 1% of the things that (I've yet to find that once were) and if you compare to NEXT - you can see that some of these things have finally made it into the game officially, and it's exciting.
Higher detailed ship textures are one of them.

What's exciting about HelloGame's passion is that they truly love their game and their community - and we are gradually seeing these things become a thing officially and incorparated into the basegame (alongside community requested features) and other stuff.

I suppose it'll take a lot of your time to collect all these assets into imgur album, but I would LOVE to see that
I personally, don't feel inclined to search for an answer. I love the game the way that it was, and I've always loved the game as is... and I'm excited for what it will be... and I also enjoy replicating content from a series of mysterious old builds that you can really dig deep into and keep finding interesting stuff... to the modern game, and creating a fused build of modernization and nostalgia with a great blend/mix.
However, I personally do not know.

No feeding, only weird squeals
There's a lot of unused animations at-least. I was able to make a gek go to sleep, and also reach down to the floor and act as if it were picking up food to eat for example
Hopefully, it'll be more of a thing on NEXT

Well, I had ideas for going about the Sand Worms. I initially though it would be tucked away on the PS4 build... but after decrypting it and looking through it's source.... it wasn't there anymore sadly... but maybe NEXT has it.
I do have a ground snake
But - I've yet to 'really try' to do it
