That message is a fallback/sentinel, not the real root error. It means the model/provider turn crashed before OpenClaw had any assistant text to send.

Quick triage:

  1. If it’s only this one chat/session, try:

    /new

    then send a simple test message.

  2. If it keeps happening, please paste:

    openclaw --version
openclaw status --all

    status --all is designed to be shareable/redacted.
