#Dreaming

Short version, it is OpenClaw’s background memory consolidation system.
When dreaming is enabled, OpenClaw periodically reviews recent short-term memory and does 3 things:
- Light: sorts and stages recent signals
- REM: looks for patterns/themes
- Deep: decides what is important enough to promote into long-term memory
A few useful details:
- It is opt-in and off by default
- Only deep writes durable memory into
MEMORY.md - Human-readable dream notes go into
DREAMS.md - You can toggle it with
/dreaming on,/dreaming off,/dreaming status
So basically, it is the thing that helps OpenClaw “sleep on it” and turn repeated useful stuff into lasting memory.
