HI. I’ve just installed openclaw yesterday and I realized that when connecting it to my WhatsApp, I gave him my own phone number. Now I’m worried it doesn’t spy or interact with other conversations as when I write to my own number he responds. This might happen as well if my contacts write me, right? Can someone tell me how to disconnect WhatsApp from openclaw please? Thanks 🙏

Let me verify the actual docs and the exact WhatsApp logout path so I don’t guess.

Short answer: no, not by default.

For WhatsApp, the default DM policy is pairing. That means if one of your contacts messages the bot, OpenClaw should send them a pairing code and not process the message until you approve it. Your own self-chat replying is expected on personal-number setups.

To disconnect WhatsApp from OpenClaw, run:

openclaw channels logout --channel whatsapp

If you used a named account:

openclaw channels logout --channel whatsapp --account <id>

That clears the WhatsApp auth state for that account.

If you want an extra belt-and-suspenders step, also remove the linked session in WhatsApp → Linked Devices on your phone.

Docs:

If that command fails, paste:

openclaw --version

and the error output, and we can help from there.
