Id like to hear other's experience from using this ability but is it me or Nightcloak Knife is kinda annoying to use?

I like the concept of it, maybe its the fact that it only lasts 15 seconds but I really dislike having to constantly mark several enemies, get close, spin attack, mark enemies again, then get behind one of them and pray to god he doesnt turn around or dash last second effectively wasting the last 10-15 seconds of setup I was trying to make.

Usually I dont even go for it when fighting bosses, the only real use I see for it rn is having more aoe damage with spin attack. Would be a lot better if the buff lasted 2 minutes with maybe less overall damage, but its something you use only in the beginning of a fight.

Video unrelated, I just find it funny.

Again, these are my first impressions.

One more thing, regarding the concept of this ability to begin with, im guessing the point of it was to give shadestepper more dps at the cost of requiring more setup? From what ive heard its overall a dps nerf, and was more setup something shade even needed to begin with?

I really enjoy that you can extract marks from enemies to make something else out of them, but nightcloak knife lasting 15s implies that half the time you're playing this archetype, you're gonna be aiming to make use of this ability for assumedly more dps.

this is based

ig they're making it more high-risk high-reward?

#

longer setup+consumed marks to stack up lots of dmg bonus, which makes hitting backstab all the more integral

#

haven't tried it at all but it must be pretty satisfying to pull off, but annoying to miss

#

nightcloak also gives shadestepper more options for dealing damage and not just smokebomb-vanish-backstab

the ability to consume marks is definitely cool but its just flat extra damage and it feels way way too gimmicky to really be anything more than a nuisance unlike the other two asn archetypes really wish the knife did more than damage or just makes marks better as long as the knife is active so theres more value to it idk it just feels mid

I'm in agreement with the general principles - nightcloak knife is just too risky to be worthwhile. You gain 36-60% depending on how many mobs are around (so realistically, 36%), you lose a vanish, and you have to not miss the setup. Honestly, it could be twice as strong and still would be the disfavored option imo.
