Once the nests are purified and we enter free roam exploration i really feel like we should get health regeneration when out of combat. During exploration i personally accidentally throw myself on water alot trying to find stuff and constantly need to fast travel to a waypoint to rest, i really feel like some regen would make the exploration less tiring

I do enjoy the lack of health regen from a combat perspective but I could see it discouraging exploring and taking on harder/more punishing jumping puzzles in new areas because of the lack of healing. Maybe the solution isn't to add regen but to alter the way falling into water/pits works outside of combat so they deal less or no damage?

#

I could also see this being integrated as a food effect, so people can make a choice at a short rest to eat something that reduces environmental damage so they can explore more freely

An option also could be to make it so that outside of combat you regenerate only up to a point. For example, regenerate up to 25% health out of combat. There's precedent for it too with how divine charges work

#

Though at the same time, non combat damage is low enough to begin with that it probably won't matter?

With all the Resting Spots and Healing Bulbs, I really don't see this game needing out of combat health regen. I actually prefer it this way since taking damage means much more than it did in CrossCode. And parry windows for "must-parry" attacks are pretty wide.

i do agree that health regen would trivialize a lot of the healing mechanics in the game and i actually really like that they disabled it, but if they plan on including more obfuscated or complex jumping puzzles later in the game, where it's more expected for players to fall 5-10+ times as they try different solutions, that could easily be a good chunk of health. i could see a player just not wanting to engage as a result becuase they want to get to the next waysprout without dying

i also dont know how the environmental damage code works. "jumping puzzles might be harder in lategame" is an invalid argument if it doesn't scale with level/hp lol

assuming it works like crosscode, it's probably a percentage of max HP

I'd throw in that there actually is a Decoris gem called Feline's Gaze that reduces environmental damage. It's found in the first cave in the hot springs quest. Damage does seem to be percentage based, at 5% of HP for jumping into the water. The gem is low-level, so it reduces that by 20%, so 4% HP. I.e. normally you can jump into the water 20 times before you die, with the gem that would be 25.
