#Why are the Q3 lap times always way faster then the Q2 and Q1 lap times

In Q3 it’s always like 1 second ahead compared to the Q2 and Q1?

Multitude of reasons:

  1. Track evolution; after q1 and q2 runs, the track is more grippier after rubber is layed down
  2. usually the top teams don't have to push, so they aren't going all out on the q1 and q2 runs
  3. fuel load is very likely lighter in q3 runs
  4. could vary but sometimes the teams run a fresh tyre compound in the q3 run

theres prob more reasons but thats what i know so far

In Q3 each team gets one fresh tyre compund that's reserved for Q3 (not including sprint weekends) so they can set their absolute best laps
