A mad catz ps3 joypad will make you go quicker in F1 CE. I have managed to shave between 8 tenths of a second to 1.5 seconds of my laptimes listed below using the same car setups as listed. You will achieve the quicker times on slow circuits such as Monte Carlo.
The mad catz ps3 joypad allows you to carry more speed through the corners than the standard supplied Sony SixaxiS joypad.
I believe it is mainly due to a better analogue configuration of the left thumbstick which by default is used for steering.

Half the codemasters games and even some of the studio Liverpool games had a bug where if you stayed outside track limits after going over them the time wouldn't be invalidated
So the fastest way to do imola in f1 06 was to straight-line the last chicane into the wall
And you could make a 10 minute video on how people butchered France in the newer ones
