Just got a leaked list of government sanctions which will be levied against a VERY significant motorsport-related body. It's going to rock the world of motorsport given the people who are named and implicated. We will have an explosive report over the coming weeks so stay ...
It starts with an F, is "not the one you might be thinking of", not american, but also not the FIM 🤔
"not quite" a sanctioning body and "not quite" Formula One group
well this sounds scary
also "not tax related" and "covering both" liberty media and Ecclestone era...
Well, this certainly sounds mysterious
it sounds weird
also, "leaked list of government sanctions"
They're answers are just so vague... though they say this guess comes close https://twitter.com/CrazeRace/status/1198038780004843520
any clue who's meant?
@FormulaMoney Ah.. International being the key word.. Involves someone who send congratulatory tweets to the race winner and team?
it sounds like FIA and/or FOM, though their other clues contradict that? (No governing body; not Formula one Group - unless that doesn't include FOM?)
SC has been out for over an hour onw hasn't it
yeah
thats a massive rip
it's green flagged again
Opinion: Why the director of Ford v Ferrari took a major risk
The BBC TV show Room 101 ran in the UK from 1994 until last year and, in its original 1994-2012 format it was presented in a very simple and enjoyable two-person format. The host would interview a celebrity from any walk of life about five or six items, people or ideas they would like to see banished to ‘Room 101’ – named after the torture room in George Orwell’s still-relevant 1949 ...Keep reading

BMW motorsport boss Jens Marquardt revealed during last weekend's SUPER GT x DTM Dream Race at Fuji that its relationship with MTEK, which spanned three seasons in the DTM in 2013-15 and a single WEC season in 2018/19 with the M8 GTE, had come to an end.

Now they are yes

Packed with the usual unpredictability, thrills and drama, here’s round one of the SAUDIA Diriyah E-Prix, in full! Watch Formula E racing: http://www.FIAForm...
Race replay available if you missed it
they arent boring because they got no engine noises
they're not boring overall
the racing 100% makes up for the "lack of vroom"
well it is boring if your name is liam
then you must not actually enjoy racing though
like if engine noise is a requirement
if you focus on the sounds and not the racing then whats the point

racing cars are supposed to sound cool you know
racing cars are supposed to race cool
having no sound makes it not call
and that is what formula e do
cool*
have you even tried to watch a formula e race?
during this last one, about 4 people said "first time watching fe live, the noises arent that bad actually. i enjoy the racing"
bro you guys born in 2000s like me?
yes
people in 1900s say that they have to be cool sounding to be race cars
i'm born in thte 90s
ive never seen or heard that
my dad enjoys FE and he's from the 60s
same
how do i know that and yous dont
honestly everyone who complains about hte noise have never been actual racing fans
look at you 2 backing eachother up. trying to make a strong force actiong like its ww1
lmao
me and nyck plz mate
2nd reason why its boring
"fake tracks"
the tracks are all street circuits
they raced on an airport last year
close to barriers yeah
close walls, close racing, close audience
incredible racing
3 amazing factors
street circuits are boring in my world
have you watched an actual race?
your world is crazy
I fucking LOVE monaco
whatttttt
it's one of my favourite all time tracks
right?
max chasing down lewis for the whole thing?
Charles stomping from the back
i like monaco but im loosing love for it because its getting boring
bwoah
that wasnt interesting cuz the only dude i watch is hulk and ric
oh yeh
that was honestly the only action
so
max and ham nothing else
About the noise thing:
As mainly an F1 fan and vroom vroom cars, I got used to the FE sound within 5 minutes of my first ever race, which was the start of this season
the noise literally makes no difference
ffs another dude
but
if you only follow 2 cars then yeah of course there's gonna be boring races
if you complain about sound
lmao
the commentators for fe are better /s
i watch in aus and commentators are fine
Yeah, if you complain about the sound and it's really a bullshit reason, people will tell you that it's a terrible reason
im comparing to crofty n that
we dont have 3 drongos commentation the race
I thought that FE would suck within the first 5 minutes due to the sound, but it didn't at all
the sound made no difference in my enjoyment
nor should it
we have commentators from 10 which is a free tv channel over here
you know why i watch v8 supercars more than f1. cuz the cars sound good
Then you're not a fan of the racing, you're a fan of the sound
I've watched countless F1 races live without sound
i get goosebumps watching those cars race cuz of the sound
and it didn't bother me
have you watched fe highlights?
no
have you watched FE at all
i said i have never watched fe
can i suggest checking one of the videos out for a bit?
then why are you saying that it's bad
this guy is trolling so hard
sorry but im tired
you dont think straight when you are tire
d
1 race
boring as bat sh**
If you made up your mind about an entire type of race, you'd probably never watch anything
If someone watched F1 at the start of the year and went "This race was boring, therefor F1 is boring" rip you know
yap anything im not gonna listen.
or imagine if someone just watched france this year
I found the first race of this season pretty interesting in FE, I haven't yet watched the second one
i dont have enough energy to read 40 word sentences

Packed with the usual unpredictability, thrills and drama, here’s round one of the SAUDIA Diriyah E-Prix, in full! Watch Formula E racing: http://www.FIAForm...
fe is boring end of convo
it's not end of convo lmao
Agreed
oof
i just made 2 reasons why its boring and you 2 fucken yack shit
no more comments allowed cos its end of convo
What?
idk they sound bad so i dont follow the calender
they race at weird tracks with way too much run off so i dont follow WEC
Your reasons were "The cars don't sound like petrol cars" and "they use street circuits", those aren't really any decent reasons :v
Look at monaco
do you think monaco's boring?
shut the fuck up
yes he does latin
he did
lmao
stretches hands
you know what end of convo means

me and sebbi just said end of convo move along and yap about something else
if we wanna talk about FE then we're well in the right to
that line means end of convo
vind#0742 muted LiamUltraRacer#5957 indefinitely.
Nice
can't be arsed anymore
we should have more of these hard mutes really
Censorship
😮
Sad but hey
that convo lmao
bruh wtf happened
bait
looks like it
Bait you say?
does f2 have a penalty point system like F1?
Also why is he racing under the dutch flag?
"Passed the chequered flag twice" how the fuck
he wanted to do the full laps even tho he was lapped

The #22 Oreca 07 of Paul di Resta, Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson was unchallenged from pole position in the 8 Hours of Bahrain, comfortably beating Davidson, Antonio Felix da Costa and Roberto Gonzales in the #38 JOTA Sport-run Oreca.
United’s winning-margin was 21 seconds after eight hours of racing, but its lead peaked at nearly a minute in the first half of the race.

Toyota was on course to "marginally" beat Rebellion
Pascal Vasselon, Toyota Motorsport GmbH technical director, claimed that the Bahrain 8 Hours would have been a tight race but for the gearshift issues that cost the solo Rebellion R-13 six minutes in the third hour.
He suggested that the Rebellion shared by Bruno Senna, Gustavo Menezes and Norman Nato could have come back from first-lap spin without the transmission problems.

"Heroic" Keating to thank for Project 1 Bahrain win
The #57 Porsche 911 RSR shared by Keating, Bleekemolen and Larry ten Voorde - making a second WEC appearance standing in for the absent Felipe Fraga - romped to GTE Am honours in the extra-points race on Saturday, leading 182 out of 233 laps.
Bronze-rated Keating took the start from pole and stayed in the car for three full stints, putting the team on a diverging pit schedule to its class ...Keep reading

Calado: "Game over" for #51 Ferrari after Bahrain defeat
Calado and Pier Guidi had propelled the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE to first in the GTE Pro class by the fourth hour of the race, but a puncture shortly afterwards dropped it out of contention for victory.
They eventually finished fourth in class, 26s down on the #95 Aston Martin Vantage of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen that claimed the win.
The result leaves the two drivers last in the drivers' ...Keep reading

Porsche’s double Bahrain implosion feels “really bad”
Porsche had emerged as the favourite for victory in the 8 Hours of Bahrain after it locked out the front row of the grid, the #91 911 RSR-19 of Gianmarina Bruni and Richard Lietz claiming pole from the sister #92 machine of Estre and Michael Christensen.
Both cars were in contention for victory when they ran into unrelated technical issues in quick succession in the fourth hour, and had to ...Keep reading
i want the jaguar fe lego set
That's crazy
sounds great
and no, tyres are standard road tyres from michelin. so no tyre management needed really
so that is why Nyck is in Formula E
well its because he got a seat
but his tire management skills were horrible
huh?
tyre*
but
pretty sure he had good tyre management skills
but anyhow, i dont think that would affect him getting a seat in fe
yeah but fe is great for him as he can also continue his career in WEC, I guess
youre confusing
I am confusion

Magnussen eyeing full-time WEC switch after Bahrain test
Magnussen sampled the Danish squad’s Michelin-shod Oreca 07 in the one-day test after the the 8 Hours of Bahrain, setting the 10th fastest time in the LMP2 class.
It was his first outing in a prototype car since he raced an Audi R8 for Team Goh at Le Mans 24 Hours in 2003.
Magnussen says he found the LMP2 car to be “a lot more brutal” than the Corvette GT cars he’s accustomed to from ...Keep reading
De Vries on Toyota's radar for hypercar seat
Toyota Motorsport GmbH technical director Pascal Vasselon stated that it had been evaluating the Dutch driver, who has been driving for Racing Team Nederland in the LMP2 class of the WEC since last year, before he was placed with the Japanese manufacturer for last weekend's rookie test in Bahrain by the WEC organisation.
"We have definitely been looking at what he has been doing in F2 and ...Keep reading

Top Stories of 2019, #14: The hypercar era takes shape
Despite having no real opposition for a second year in a row in the Le Mans 24 Hours, Toyota contrived to make the closing stages of the FIA World Endurance Championship showpiece suitably dramatic as a puncture and some faulty tyre pressure sensor wiring denied the occupants of the #7 TS050 Hybrid what would have been a well-earned first win at La Sarthe.
But the 2019 edition of the French ...Keep reading
depends how much they penalize you
don't want fan boost becoming a get out of stewards free card
i dont think that would be the case?
tbh maybe an energy reduction would be a better penalty
bc if they say "you have to run at 80% for a lap" they'd still have the same energy over the race so they could just use more than their rivals to regain ground
but if they took 2% off the energy it'd really create some strategy issues

I find it actually surprising since im both a kpop and an f1 fan
but lets see how it goes
no one was hating?
What the hell does BTS, a band that flies to every corner of the world, have to do with a Motorsport focusing on climate change and what not
And by the way out of all bands, BTS?
K-pop community is insanely toxic
Can confirm ^
Also i wonder how fanboost will be like if the bts fans starts watching
imagine the racing fans and bts fans start a whole damn fanwar
Alex Palou going to IndyCar next year is pretty cool news
Here pretty soon IndyCar is gonna be a didn't have the funding to keep up the F1 seat campaign fight series and loaded with some pretty talented drivers
The same way FE has gone
I actually think Formula E has more talent than Formula 1 now
Formula E is pretty stacked, but I would argue for top rate talent F1 is still the king
Too much talent
I think some of the drivers in Fe could well compete at the top of F1
JEV was matching Ricciardo in his time at Toro Rosso
I think they could reasonably hold their own against the mid-ish tier of F1 drivers, but I think Vettel, Max, Lewis have a leg up on even the top tier of Formula E personally
I mean Lewis have a leg up on everyone
I will say that I've been pretty impressed with how well Bottas and Rosberg have both held their own against him
As a rookie he kinda showed up Alonso who has always been widely seen as one of the top F1 drivers in modern times
yeah I'd say the top top F1 drivers are better... it always grates on me when people like Brundle say that the 20 drivers on the F1 grid are the best 20 in the world when that's clearly untrue though
doesn't he say "20 of the best" and not the 20 best
Yeah, I think it's over commendation of F1, but also, for a lot of history it was the series to graduate too
I mean even guys like Stroll are still really far from being bad at driving
People says money walk over talent, but we very rarely see a sponsored driver than have not proven himself by good results too
I mean, there are loads of heavily supported pay drivers that can't crack it because the performance isn't there
and that's where Formula e is behind with drivers like Qing in the field
coughs Gelael coughs
Stroll didn't take a 5th and then a 1st in F3 for nothing and has proven he's formidable behind the wheel of a 24hr sports car
Worth noting that that 5th place rookie season he was up against the likes of Maxi Gunther, Giovinazzi, Rosenqvist, Albon, Leclerc, Sette-Camara, Russell, Ilott
Stroll is fast but very few people would agree he deserves one of the 20 fastest cars in the world
Oh, I forgot Jake Dennis, he's right quick too
Isn't Jake Dennis the guy who's too tall for an F1 car?
I feel like if stroll didn't make the jump and went to do a good formula 2 season instead, people would talk less about him
I feel like if he can fit in an F3 car he ought to fit in an F1 car...
hey you know who else made the jump from F3 to F1 very early because of his big money backing ? Max Verstappen
The season he won he was still fighting it out against Russell, Hubert, Sette-Camara, Zhou, Gunther, Ilott
and Max didn't even win in F3
Got beat by Ocon
F3 didn't have equal cars though
idk, did you hear Russell's comments back then about how much of an advantage Stroll got
when Max started a lot of people were saying he's too young and not good enough to be in F1
Jake Dennis not Jake Hughes
Oh shit, my b, looked up the wrong dude
mind, it say's he's 6'1 which isn't too tall maybe i'm thinking of someoen else
He's 185cm, so that may be a bit scrunched for most F1 designers
what's 187. that's on his official website
6'2"ish
Hulkenberg is 6' and he barely fits in most designs
So he may in fact basically be too tall for designers' likings
yeah
I would love to see drivers like Sam Bird or Lotterer competing in a good F1 car just to see how good they are compared to F1 field
Lotterer did do some running for Caterham in Belgium
and only a few laps
He was pretty formidable for a long time in SuperFormula and SuperGT which are both pretty talent stacked series
I fucking love andre lotterer
I'm really impressed by Sam Bird in Fe so I wonder why he never got a shot into F1
He's a bit hot headed and makes dumb decisions sometimes
I don't think he moved through GP2 fast enough
tbh i think Bird's season next to Bianchi where he didn't really impress affected it a lot
some of the real talents in Fe, Robin Frijns, Alexander Sims
missed opportunities
Maybe if in his 3rd year in GP2 he had actually won and not come runner up I think he could have had a better shot at making the jump
It was a really tough time for people to break through to F1
Grosjean calls himself incredibly lucky becuase he thinks he's the only guy his age who got a genuine shot
I think Frijns was in the runnings for an F1 seat until Red Bull fucked him over basically IIRC
Yeah and Frijns didn't have enough money to fund himself
He and da Costa both
That was kinda when Red Bull was so deep in Jrs they could burn bridges like crazy without any consequences
Now they've kinda burned so many bridges they've started to fuck themselves
Yeah it has been interesting to watch... and now I feel like Ferrari are in a similar boat with so many drivers in F2 next season, Gio in F1 etc
Mercedes basically abandoned their program because everyone became so averse to seating their Jr drivers and it was keeping them from moving up
That's some real shitty pettiness right there
Nah, we won't take your super talented drivers and money because FUCK YOU
Yeah it was harsh, but every team has a jr programme too at this point
yep, Ilott, Schumacher, Alesi, Armstrong, Shwartzman, all with Ferrari Backing
Yeah, but they didn't all have drivers with SuperLicence points or all their seats completely filled and still brought in other people
tho I'm surprised they are keeping Alesi after his mediocre F2 season
If I'm honest I think Schwartzman is gonna make some people look pretty bad
That kid is quick
Schwartzman is who I think is the fastest out of all of Ferrari's juniors too... and being next to Schumacher, I feel like it could ruin Schumachers chances
I think you could be right on that accord
I just hope Prema are fast next year... I can't tell if they were off the pace as a team this year bc Schumacher was next to Galeal... if they are off the pace like I think, then Armstrong in an ART might beat them
Schumi seems to take a year to get used to a car and was looking better towards the end of the season IMO. Gelael shouldn't really be in F2 IMO and so wasn't really any help in setup for the car and getting the maximum performance out to help him get up to speed as fast as he potentially could have paired with someone that truly knows the ins and outs of the setup of an F2 machine
That is true. That KFC money is mighty strong for these teams
Indeed
I really thought he'd leave after that Silverstone protest
Wait, what happened that I didn't pay attention to?
Watch Dams going down in the dumpster next year with Gelael after being team champions
oh yeah he got a penalty for crashing in practice and decided that penalty was unfair and boycotted the race lmao
Gelael-Ticktum isn't really necessarily the optimal lineup...
Galael got a penalty in qualifying i think, for trying to overtake someone and making a hash of it. then in protest sat out the rest of the weekend because he thought it was too harsh.
Oh, actually I do remember this
Gotcha
Nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face
I really think Ticktum will win races though
DAMS are the kind of team that can help a lot with that
Dams is a good team only if you're good at this
A team can get you close to a general setup, but being proper competitive in a single make series is all about optimizing the car for your personal driver preference and still managing the tyres
It'll be interesting with the 18inch tyres, the guys in their 2nd year won't have as much of an advantage as they have done recently
That's gonna wholly mix up the setups too
It's gonna completely modify the suspension setting needs
we clearly saw the imrprovement between latifi and albon in 2018
as Albon learned the car he started to really get good in the races
Maybe we will get a rookie champion for 2020
really possible since all the top drivers of this season are leaving
Yeah, I have thought all season that there was more talent in F3 than F2 this season tbh
I think so too
and theses top drivers were runner ups behind rookies of 2018
De Vries, Latifi and Ghiotto all already had 1 year in F2 before and still got destroyed by Russell and Norris
and Albon managed to beat De Vries on the line
Any news on Sette Camara? There was an Indycar link but Palou got that drive
IndyLights would honestly be a big step down, especially for competitive exposure
IndyLights is worse that doing a F4 season currently
lmao I agree but winning it almost guarantees an indycar seat
only other option could be WEC
yeah you're kinda stuck in it after that
Like Felipe Nasr has got stuck
and you end up like in Brazilian Stock car like Piquet Jr
haha, Piquet might end up doing Extreme E though at least
yep
that Brazilian Stock Car championship has so many familiar faces, so many brazilians that came to europe but they all end up in the same place in the end
but there is lots of big names going for extreme e seats so I would be surprised to see him in a seat there
I'm excited to see how Jamie stacks up in Extreme E against some real heavyweights
Yeah me too Alice
is she confirmed yet?
Yeah
She also said she might do Japanese F3 alongside W series
Bakkerud, Ogier, Hansens, Scheider, di Grassi, Lotterer, Duval, Abt
I saw a list of potential drivers a few weeks ago but I didn't hear about any confirmed seats yet
Who is Hansens?
RallyX?
RallyCross driver
Yes
ah
Those two are both pretty legit
I love that they have drivers from all sorts of disciplines
Bakerund also
but theses people are considered for a seat, not confirmed
Sacha Prost and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky are the remaining confirmed registrations
Also Billy Monger is in this list
Do we know how many drivers there will be chosen
No, Venturi, ABT and HWA are confirmed entries
initial plans were 1 car per team iirc
So Daniel Abt will for sure be there
so I don't expect more than 10 drivers
Yeah, I didn't see that it was just for a selection program until I read the cited article
My mistake
haha np
10 seems like so few for all this effort
I would be surprised if Ogier and one of the RX guys doesn't make it
Bakkerud and Ogier seem like shoe ins
Ogier has said a lot about Extreme E iirc
Yeah, he seems really interested
I think whatever drivers get picked will be down to scheduling
And he's fucking insane good
Ogier is leaving WRC so he doesn't have anything else to do
I'd be interested to see what Ogier can do in an F1 car TBH
If only it were easier for manufacturers to get in to F1
Peugeot commited to WEC anyways so I don't expect Citroen to launch in any new championships
tbf I'm pretty hyped for this WEC hypercar era if the amount of manufacturers enter that we think
Could be pretty dope indeed
the revival of endurance
Again
finally other cars than Toyotas on the podium
Top tier endurance racing has been very much an ebb and flo kinda thing...
inb4 Toyota does a mercedes and wipes everyone's ass
I don't think that's at all outside the realm of possibilities
whatever happens it'll be more of a competition than the last couple of seasons
Maybe
considering their years of technical knowledge of already being there they have a very good advantage heading in the new rules era
Reliability could be a very real factor for some teams and making them basically a consolation entry
Running a car at those performance levels for 24hr constant is fucking insanely hard on components
It'll just be so nice to see multiple top drivers in top performing manufacturers in WEC
I wish there would be more long races like Le Mans in WEC
Or even 6hr at a place like Spa where you have some bonkers compressions from the elevation changes that wreak havoc on suspension and other connections
Daytona 24 and Sebring 12
I do often wonder where they get the time limits from for the circuits
like how do they decide to do a 4hr race in one place and a 6hr somewhere else
Daytona and Sebring are not in WEC tho
and nurburgring 24h
The 6hr races are based on the old 1000km race style IIRC
Usually worked out to be roughly 6hrs ish
Also Bathurst
Bathurst is fucking mad
are WEC cars too fast for Bathurst
Dubai has a 24hr race
There is a Zolder, Spa and Silverstone 24hr race for like touring car-esque level cars
Don't think they did the Silverstone one this year though
I just wish there were more 8h+ races in WEC
They do get expensive, so I can understand why they do so few 12hr+ races
But, making Le Mans less than 24hr at this point would be blasphemy
The 2019 24H GT Series powered by Hankook is the fifth season of the 24H Series with drivers battling for championship points and titles and the eleventh season since Creventic, the organiser and promoter of the series, organised multiple races a year. The races are contested...
there is a "world championship" for 24 hour races
24H GT Series is super fun to watch
I love this talk, but it's 2AM and I have work tomorrow, so goodnight
Peace

also something to notice, George rated higher than Lando, Seb and Alex
Yeah they really rate George highly, there have been a fair few articles where they go in depth in to George's performances this season
tbh I rate George higher than them aswell
since I watched his F2 season
it was almost flawless
oh same definitely
Everyone expected Lando to win F2 comfortably but it turned out to be Russell

How's Rossi doing btw? I don't keep up with MotoGP and whatnot, I just hear what my dad says about him
not well, not really top3 competitive anymore, he cant keep up with the young riders, hes more a top 10 rider these days
also yamaha havent delivered a competitive bike this yr
compared to honda, ducati
marquez is the new goat
Vinales does fine on the bike though and Quartararo does even better on last years bike
And you can't argue this year's bike is worse than his considering they capped 500 rpm off it for most of the season
well not really, its only quartararo who shone for a while, but nowhere near the performance of the ducatis or the hondas over the whole season
yes they caught up a bit towards the end, but the yams were still lacking, in rossi's case i dont think it would help him though even if the yam was super competitive
i think its gotten to the point where the age is starting to hit Rossi
he'll overtake his number soon right
hes 40
The American flag is Backwards

that is amazing
that's hot
American flags on personnel and certain vehicles are traditionally oriented to look as if they are following the breeze left behind by forward motion. The flag on the opposite side is likely oriented normally. 🙂
isnt it just so its the correct orientation in a car in front's mirrors lol
yeh, normally on ambulances and stuff it is written backwards on the front, but on race cars?
i was messing sorry
