It's equal for all teams in FE with the activation zones, it's a better idea than DRS imo because it's fair to all drivers instead of just those behind

DRS is meant to be a following performance loss compensation though, so they're not really comparable as they serve completely different purposes

in DTM they use DRS differently and it works well
for me attack mode is just a different version of the push-to-pass we see in indycar
instead of having a define number of seconds of boost than you activate with a button on your wheel, you get a fixed time by passing an activation zone on track

While the system is some what the same, I don't think that the rationale behind the DTM and F1 DRS systems are the same. DTM is still able to follow closely, so it's less about making up the difference you lost in the previous corners and more about each car having a bit of a temporary boost to increase excitement and force each other's hands
