Yes I obviously stole these from google and did a bad job of cropping i do not care
it's fine
Screen recorded this so a friend could see but I think it belongs here too https://streamable.com/lx15w5
Yt link?

SPECIAL THANKS TO Friedchicken80 FOR FINDING THIS/RECORDING THIS VIDEO I LOVE YOU FOR IT, ALL CREDIT GOES TO HIM and CMT, I just wanted to share it on my channel in case nobody has seen it. This movie has always brought tears to my eyes and is the best racing tribute I've seen...
Best documentary on Dale imo
@sudden void @tight garnet watch this https://streamable.com/lx15w5
im surprised they use champagne
thought they'd use a big ass beer bottle or some shit
Lmaoooo
That's what the fans do

Lemme find my personal favorite "Intimidator" moment
Relive the most famous bump-and-run in NASCAR history, as Dale Earnhardt puts the bumper to Terry Labonte in the closing laps of the 1999 Bristol Night Race. After all, "The intimidator" didn't mean to turn Labonte around. He just wanted to "rattle his cage."

I'll send a few more
If it isn't already skipped, go to 2:17:00
Remastered footage of the 1973 Targa Florio. This is a 60FPS HD video, so please watch in 1080p60 (or 720p60) I added sounds to the video as the original film was silent. This event was the last Targa Florio as a World Championship race.
Original film footage by Archivio Nazio...

interesting, didn't know Sega sponsored cars that early
Katsu Kubota racing his Historic F1 March 761-6 at Monza in the Historic F1 race. This is the very car that Ronnie Peterson won the Italian GP in 1976. Filmed using Goldstar Onboard Racecam video system, more information can be found at www.goldstaronboard.com
Oooooop
Tobacco sponsorship moment
@calm field where’s the pic?
Damn its looking a bit rough
Oo
It probably goes flying just hitting something then LOL
yes the surface has to be super smooth, like a tennis court
so yeah, I love that 2001 era of ferraris
fewer winglets n other pokey outey bits
I have a few more ferrari 1:18 alonso cars
Damn
lookin kinda dusty, time to blow off the shelf again
not bad for hanging on to for all these years
all those cars of that era were deathtraps... driver's feet ahead of the wheels (!)
Definitely could’ve died in those
mhm
every once in awhile they'd bring f1 cars to the historics at monterey
i was just a kid, didn't take very good pics, it was all on film
mhm
yep - and they sound so wonderful in person
eh, it's all water under the bridge now
i had a poster of him on the wall in my bedroom when i was a kid
the famous lbgp air shot
lolol
i was rifling thru old photos the other day trying to see if i could find a picture of my wall when it was a ferrari shrine in like 1984
my new upcoming hopeful is norris
who was that talking about getting F1 sounds at full volume?
i have a video where i was standing 6' behind a 917 while it was being warmed up... used my decent mic what a sound !!!
at the last rennsport reunion i went to in '15
yep that's the real deal
such an angry idle!
nothing is finer than the sound of a 12. nothing.
'cept maybe my 24v VR6 but I might be biased
Isn't it a flat-6?
Powered by the Type 912 flat-12 engine of 4.5, 4.9, or 5 litres, the 917/30 Can-Am variant was capable of a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.3 seconds, 0–124 mph (200 km/h) in 5.3 seconds. The long tail Langheck version had a maximum measured top speed of 362 km/h (225 mph)
those numbers are insane for today, let alone 50y ago!
ah true, thought they ran a flat-6 for the 917, explains why it sounded so massive when i saw one in person
yep. at rennsport there was a fleet of them
that event is always over the top
and I love how close you can get to everything

@buoyant nebula they're fiats but ok /s

how tf its so clear
probably machine learning to interpolate the images that were likely not there.
@worthy flicker that looks like my pop's car
it’s a porsche 356 coupe
you mean a 356
that's an early one, too. an A
looks like it says 1953 on the montecarlo rally plate

nice
@calm field this is my lineup lol
damn son, the F1-2000, the F10, the F2012 and the F138?
not a bad lineup there at all
ugh that dipped nosel ol
@buoyant nebula yes
@worthy flicker i have mixed feelings about it too but i like it lmfao
nice
the Williams FW15, the car Williams originally intended to replace the FW14B with in 1992 but didn't because the FW14B was already good enough, driven by Alain Prost in late 1992 at Estoril
Damn, lucky
Ye
we didn't get those here
haven't seen one in person since i was last in the uk a longass time ago
hm let's see what's in the archive since y'all are postin vintage usa
laguna seca 1963, my dad took the photo
whenever i find old prints or slides, I scan them up. we've a huge library
that's so cool
how about ONTARIO
the parking lot image alone is awesome
those are indy cars. the year is 1970
Best car ever
Idk I left sorry
if you know what store that's from DM it to me later, might go down to lisbon
if that poster is legit that's fresh
i have 2 HUGE reproductions of vintage posters at home

yeah, and that's jody scheckter
riverside is so cool
yeah it's a shame they bulldozed it
here's an interesting Jody thing, lemme dig it out of my cellphone...
notice the paintjob on jody's helmet
notice this lancia beta zagato is painted to match
(as horrific as it is)
this paintwork was done by Lancia at the factory by hand and this car was gifted to Jody
a friend who is a lancia collector found out about it in a warehouse in LA and now it's his
it's a very special car
Oh my fuck that picture with 5 year old you is gorgeous
I was born way past then so to me all that seems fantastical, and unreal
i reproduced that picture with my son at Fontana 🙂
Katsu Kubota racing his Historic F1 March 761-6 at Monza in the Historic F1 race. This is the very car that Ronnie Peterson won the Italian GP in 1976. Filmed using Goldstar Onboard Racecam video system, more information can be found at www.goldstaronboard.com

that longtail skyline is nuts
weeeeeeeee
oh, I got some older motogp and sbk stuff
Show show show @calm field
when i get home and have a cocktail in hand
Hehe
okiedoke. motogp or sbk. let's see what i can find that was shot on film originally.
by the time I was peaking out shooting film I had a Nikon F3 with a motor drive and a 500mm reflex lens
so I could get some pretty decent shots but with manual focus, I had to plan ahead
civilian parade chaos lap
that's me!
that's when i was fat and had long hair
so that group of photos is AMA at Sears Point / Infineon / Sonoma - you can see how much the circuit has changed
1998
@tight garnet - shown!
damn thats so cool
next group is world superbike at Laguna, same year
still on film here
there was an awful incident at the start that year
WSB 98 Round 8
Originally captured by dvdraceservice
we were at the top of the hill to watch the corkscrew
oh fuck
at 1:00... it's like a body count 😦
this is all i could see
hay bales again
those gorgeous bikes
this is the best part tho... going to ducati island
this is a factory paint job
oh here's more film... sbk laguna 99
lol
one of the other fun things about bike week in monterey is going down to cannery for the cruise. you never know what you'll see...
these are 2 stroke GP bikes basically for the street
not quite legal on the roads here in california
civilians queued up for a chaos parade lap...
i actually went in that sea of bikes that time...
me
proof LOL
b/c we rode in that year I didn't take all my good camera gear
that's the end of the film era. in 01 i was using a lil digital point n shoot
i didn't attend bike races until I was older. motos were taboo in my household.
It’s like you exist so people can envy you, holy crap @calm field
That’s incredible
it's just because i'm old
living near 2 quality circuits does help
and having family in monterey for free lodging does help
i'm just a 'get off your ass and do stuff' kinda guy
dope asf
i have pics from the 1982 usgp in long beach
those were on film, too
all i had was a 50mm lens
so these are hella cropped
that was also an interesting race because mario andretti came out of retirement to fill in for...
someone
they made a big deal out of it
luckily my dad had a better lens so all the photos don't suck
we had seats at the fountain chicane area
So much cool stuff
Are you planning to do something with the pictures or are you keeping them for your personal collection
oh i have a massive library
they'll be passed down to my son
i share them with those interested
but the audience is small
Haha awesome
They seem very good quality to me
Crazy
Gilles ❤️
look at that rear wing
when the race ended, my dad said "grab the cooler! follow me!"
i was a huge gilles fan
he got these 3 pix
that's me
so this was april 4th 82
a month later he was dead
he was disqualified from his points for that race at long beach because that wing was too wide per the rules
it was a last minute change it was made from 2 fronts
here's the qualifying wing
here's someone's great pic of the twin wing
that was also an interesting race because mario andretti came out of retirement to fill in for...
@calm field Carlos Reutemann who retired from the sports unexpectedly after 2 races
Very cool pics, thanks !
you were there?
@buoyant hound yep 🙂

@glacial arch hey that's Riverside... Iv'e been there
It's a joke? How lucky you are.
Not many have that luxury of being on a circuit like this.

no that's not a joke, sir. i'm old.
those are both stunning, but I love that first one
I agree that aesthetic is the best
the simplicity. i don't like all the winglets and bargeboards and floors n shit
I think it also just brings some reality to it
Like, because of the amount of context left in the shot
It feels so real
i also like 1975
if I had to name another period before the 90s, I'd say 1988-1989 and 1975-1976 are up there for me as well
73-75 tops it for me. I also dig the 1982 cars without front wings
I'm too young to have seen cars that boxy as the pinnacle of motorsport, so it's sometimes hard to think of them like that, without pictures like these
If that makes any sense at all
everyone loves the MP4/4
The 1991 mclaren is the best one for me
Because it's very simple and elegant, not just the most dominant car
How much has it changed? Never been there so idk
Can you remind me how far it is from where you live
i went there in the late 80s
cool stuff
do you have pictures for comparison ?
I took this picture in early september 2020
damn must be nice
it's a very unique city having all these towers directly in a mountain landscape, and all the streets are sloped
there are public elevators everywhere to go between the different city levels
the cool thing is that the F1 track kerbs are permanent so anytime to go to monaco you can see them on the road sides
yes
i don't have scans hand y
now thats a flying lap right there
the supras 👍
i've never seen other ferrari with some sort of yellow line
I liked this in 16-17, but many people didn't see the link
indeed
the ferrari livery 😳
@zenith tundra that spoiler 😳
@zenith tundra that spoiler 😳
@fathom arch That airbox 😳
oh yeah those pipes are beautiful when the engine cover is off
here's the early configuration
that's of a model but an excellent view
it looks so cluttered on the early non "flat" v12
oh i think they're beautiful
i love it
i wonder why they painted this white
it was the most powerful engine of the time iirc
in the f1 world*
thats a V12 right
yes
so, numbers numbers. on this 312T (https://discordapp.com/channels/142082511902605313/263433849395085313/766356751577907280) so in 1975, the Ford Cosworth DFV engine was at 465 bhp, while the Ferrari had 500 bhp and the BRM V12 470
and these are the 3 engines on the grid
Ferrari had 2 cars, BRM had 1, and the DFV was in the rest of the grid, so about 20 odd cars
damn
but the Ford was quite cheap, and very good for the money
35 bhp difference with Ferrari isn't that much in the end, you can beat them with better aero
but when Lauda joined in 74, they started getting everything right
they had the same kind of vibe at this time
yeah
very good aero, and bulletproof reliability

more so in the 2001-2004 years
i dont miss Fertr
shit
i dont miss the Ferrari from the 70s because i wasn't alive
I miss early 2000s Ferrari
i also don't like Ferrari
minimal idiocy
so that adds to it
the 312 is a flat 12
Eddie Irvine was never given a chance
watch that film someday with the volume up really really loud
lmfao
we saw it in a small independent theater with a high-end audio setup
oh my
we drank cocktails and just let it rock
we saw ford v ferrari in a similar manner
algum brasileiro ouportugues aqui ?
haha that's a great pic
yes i liked that livery
Nice ferrari
I know you don't but ok 🤣

Prost > Senna

.truth
Prost > Senna

n
why are you roasting senna lol
we're roasting people who say Senna is better than Prost 🙂
why do you think Prost is better than Senna

because he won titles against the odds in 86 and maybe 89 due to not DNFing as much as Senna, who was still faster
fair point
damn
they removed it so Prost wouldn't get cucked again lol, cause he almost lost 89 because of this
🥖
It's dumb just like the double points abu dhabi
those 512s... pure sex
Villeneuve’s 94 and 95 reynards are some of the most beautiful race cars ever to exist imo
Oh for sure
Ohhhh yessss
The embodiment of speed
Agreed
The picture is so small i can’t read the sponsors
I imagine there’s some top tier endorsments on that car
The only thing you have to read is the number 6
it's a 1993 WRC Subaru
no wait it's a Subaru Vivio Sedan that did a one off
it was a promotional?? i guess idea for the car to race considering the race was in kenya and kenya is known for being 3 rallies length long
Sexy
very sexy
Let's buy it
i might have some kodachromes of that car in action from back in the day
look at that art
it's amazing how small they are
Mid Ohio
I Still love dtm tho

A report of the 12 hours of Sebring from the Jim Busby racing team. Staring the BMW-March M1, the ultimate group 5 car that failed miserably.
The BMW-March M1 was supposed to be a turbocharged 800hp monster version of the BMW M1, but never got it's turbo's. What was left was ...
its sooo cool
yes that is 100% an m1, probably group 5. bruce jenner sucked. (s) he's one of the celebrities vs paul newman who did great racing
CanAm was wild.
Im gonna say facts:
Nelson Piquet is underrated legend.
He won all his championships in the early 80s
The one era that nobody remembers or cares about
rude
let's just forget that there little to no televised action from the 70's, 60's and 50's
Fittipaldi > Piquet > Senna
we got zero tv coverage here in the 80s except for Monaco
california
if you were lucky you might know someone with old school satellite and a vcr
otherwise you got the results from autoweek
oh
oh, and lbgp was broadcast
ok well for western europe i am sure most of the races were broadcast in the mid to late 80s
because they did a celebrity pro am with toyota and that made good tv
put tv stars in celicas and watch the crashfest
Already the holder of the lap record, Nick Padmore smashed the outright circuit record in this screaming Arrows A11. Designed by Ross Brawn and powered by a screaming 3.5-litre V8 this amazing Formula 1 beast took eight seconds off the previous mark to record a 1minute 9 secon...

The 1983 British Formula Three Championship was the 33rd season of the British Formula Three Championship, starting at Silverstone on 6 March and concluding at Thruxton on 23 October after 20 races.
The season saw a head-to-head title battle between future Formula One stars Ay...
9 wins in a row for Senna, and he only barely won the title against Brundle
bruh
i guess Brundle's 9 2nd places in a row (other than a 3rd place) really did him well compared to Senna's 5 DNF's and one DNS
while brundle boi only had one DNF
yeah
must be cool to be brundle and say "I almost beat Senna to the title"
Senna doing this all his career it seems
either spectacular results like wins, or DNFs
ye
Brundle said that during his racing against Senna before F1, that Senna would put himself in positions where he'd DNF if another driver did not get out of the way
really a shame Brundle only had 1 season in a front running team in his career imo
so I assume that's why Senna DNF'd a few times, and also why both of them retired from the same race
maybe they collided at Oulton Park yes
Batida de Senna e Brundle , quando os dois disputavam o Titulo da F3 em 1983.
yeah
the "famous" Senna on top of Brundle incident
Brundle was very unlucky to not have a great career f1 all thanks to his crash in Dallas 84
but i think he alaways said he could show his talent and ability in the world sports car championship
what about his crash in Dallas
it broke his ankles and feet leaving him without the ability to left foot brake
hmm
that's quite an evolution in design
look how small the mk1 really is
i cant wait to get mine running again
miss the old beetle styling
my pop's got a '74
i don't like driving it
something with the floor hinged pedals
it turns me off abt 356s and 911s too
original beetles were super polluters too 😄
watching 1991 italian gp
hearing the american commentator butcher names is terrible
why an american commentator?
wdym by that
why was an american commentator doing f1
ill look it up

ALEEIN PROWST
what's the problem, accents are just accents
only native don't butcher driver names anyway

That american commentator is doing the complete opposite
The way not to butcher names is to pronounce them similar to their original language

I have a love affair for Alfas Fiats and Lancias

What about a spider
@rustic helm that's a duetto <3
well i think this one was a 2000 Spider veloce actually
@rustic helm oh, you're right... just a super early car. those front bumpers are sex
i really dig the front grill completely under the hood. and obviously the headlight shape
Ayrton Senna driving the McLaren MP4/4B in 1988, made to test the new Honda V10 engine for the 1989 season
needless to say, the /5 was more elegant
yep
whereas this was just an modified MP4/4 made to accomodate the new V10 engine instead of the old V6 turbos that were going to be banned after 1988
wonder if Honda shouldn't have stuck to the V10 for 1991 and 1992
probably would have been a better idea
depends if they would have entered IndyCar still though
i really dig the front grill completely under the hood. and obviously the headlight shape
@rustic helm my mom had a 72, she has an 88? now. she insists my dad maintain it for her.
that's hers
Lazy woman
gorgeous

'ery noic
haha she's 78yo
Lmao
My favorite 1991 shot, includes all the good backmarkers
Nice ferrari in front
ferrari, a manufacturer so good in the late 80s and early 90s that they had 2 teams
.
My favorite italian formula 1 team that races in red with marlboro and agip sponsorship whose name starts with scuderia
the 1993 Ferrari F93A in its reveal livery, which featured the Italian flag stripes that were oddly removed when the season started
idk i like Scuderia Italia like on this pic
Here's some good Leyton House pics
Radial blur
Leyton Ouch
BEST Leyton House pic!
But is that from 1991? Doesn't look like it
If it's not, I won't take it
looks like 91 or 92
definitely not earlier
they have the airboxes at the top so
gotta be 92 then
couple liveries look too wrong to be 91
hey lat, if ya got any 91 pics please send em my way
:)
the one i posted is 89
oh shit
french gp
1991 cars are the sexiest to me
before that, they still looked a bit boxy to me
after, they started to get better functioning but worse looking
and the 91 liveries are also pretty good ngl
the jordan 191 seduces me with the curvy wing and low ride height
the rear is also quite original
look at this and tell me it shouldn't be marked nsfw
oh btw that's a tyrrell in the bg iirc
with the original lifted nose
anyone remember the Ligier JS45?
they did, but not before Ligier launched their car as the JS45
and after Prost bought the team, they used the Ligier-designed car anyway as they couldn't design their own car at such short notice (the buyout took place in February 1997)
he still owned the team then
Stewart though, tmw you reveal your new car before the new year even started
and yep
and a share in minardi as well
ah yeah
the other thing he bought was mechacrome i think
or at least he was a part of it
might still be
his company signed a distribution agreement with them for 1999 in 1998, so that might be what you mean
Mecachrome was then renamed into Supertec after that
yep
"From 1998 to 2000, he led the company Supertec, supplying Mecachrome-built Renault engines to Williams and BAR in 1999, Arrows in 2000, and under the brand name "Playlife" for Benetton in both 1999 and 2000."
Flavio is a great guy
yeah, unless things involve, uh, making his 2nd driver crash so that his team's leading driver could win the race
but that's a story not for #pitstop
anyway
the Benetton B197 in its' launch livery, gotta love launch liveries that end up never being used during the season
apologies for the Alamy watermarks, couldn't find a non-watermarked version
That honestly looks better than what they raced
kinda, though I don't like how the United Colors of Benetton logo doesn't cover the whole sidepod, which is why the FedEx logo fit the livery better imo
i miss benetton. i shopped there in the 80s
Poor Ligier. Never saw it coming.

disqualified for cutting a chicane looooool
I can’t believe they disqualified michael schumacher in 1997 for going off track in the final race

my favorite conspiracy is that Senna got DSQ'ed because Flavio paid the FIA to bonk him off just so Benetton can get their first win since 86
which is untrue but it sounds something that could be true because of Flavio Briatore
