I'm getting ready to be IRL streaming for like a month on a road trip and was working on setting up the mobile app.
Was customizing up some alerts and commands for it and was just curious if the custom gifs and the like will play in the overlay? (I couldn't seem to preview them, can here the sounds but not see them on the overlay)

I see if I hit 'preview' a simple alert but it's not the ones I have setup on the mobile theme in the dashboard and If I hit the emulation buttons I hear the new sounds, just don't see them in the preview (but, wasn't sure if that worked)

Thanks tried it out today worked alright.
The problem we had though is there's no sound for any of the alerts, it only worked if the mic picked up the sound from the speaker.
Not sure how audio sources work with the app on mobile or if anyone has suggestions

I'm so sad, tested the mobile app a few minutes ago streaming to my custom RTMP server, and the performance is REALLY bad. To begin with, my GoTo before was and unfortunately still is Larix Broadcaster, this is what i compare to, on my Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 model. My stream settings is limited to following resolution and fps due to the camera, 1080p@30. I've tested these bitrates 4000, 6000, 10.000 and 20.000 in both apps and i can't even get a stable 4000 in the SE app. Larix on the other hand do 4-20.000 with only one hickup right at the beginning of 20.000 stream but that was it. The stream recieved from SE app have huge colored pixels, runs at 3-5 fps if i get any frames at all and always in portrait mode?
Larix always sends a stream in 16:9 in landscape mode, no matter how you rotate your phone and this is awesome, it will just rotate the feed and interface, yours from what i can find, is portrait only, no rotation.
Please take this as a feedback and not just me critiqueing your app, because i relly want it to be my main app, i love the alerts/activity list and the chat overlay and such. but the portrait only and the stutter and pixilating issue at any bitrate is just a dealbreaker

We are constantly updating the app with bug fixes and planned features. As you can see, there is an issue with YT login/streaming side now, so we are trying to fix that issue and other issues.
Comparing our app to Fortnite is a huge understatement btw as both softwares have nothing in common.

Not seeing anything wrong in there. Could be the overlay somehow got disassociated with your app. Let's try this: Log out of the app, delete your mobile overlay on the site, and log back in. This should make a new overlay and tie it to your app. Then you can edit that one as needed.

Hey - I've had multiple issues with TTS today. Usually restarting the app (exit and then close all apps, then open fresh) seems to fix it but today I've had to completely restart my phone (Note 9) before it worked.
Later on I was using Galaxy S6 and same issue happened. Restarting app again didn't seem to work. Had to restart phone completely. Then it was lagging about 5 minutes...
Just now I'm back on my Note 9 and the same issue has occured... Just restarted the phone and bought up the app... And tried to replay the notification... Not working. Restarted app twice since restart too.
Originally thought maybe it was poor connection but I'm now back in Central Osaka where connection is full bars of reception so no idea why it's doing this when it wasn't before.
Both different Software because different phones.... Not sure if Android issue or Samsung or what. Not sure why only today/now
EDIT: Nevermind. Working now? But concerned it will be like this tomorrow. Will keep updated I guess.

Couple of questions, I'm switching from Sobs Mobile to SE. Alerts, once enabled will they be the same as my desktop alerts? Can this be adjusted like in Sobs with their profiles? How do Overlays work in SE mobile? Can't seem to see any options. Last question is, do audience see chat on the main screen?
Also, how does TTS work? Does it carry over as if you were Desktop Streaming?

@upper plover when you download and login to the mobile app it will auto create a mobile overlay in your SE dashboard. There you can add more widgets to that overlay but only your viewers will get to see them when you go LIVE. Same is true for TTS you wont hear it on phone but viewers will here on the LIVE stream

I have some feedback from a streamer i'm a moderator at, he's streaming for a few 1000 normally and have frontpage promotion in the nordic countries. It's a twitch clip as he don't have time to be on discord as much (he is running a rescue zoo more or less, like an actual rescue zoo), so would it be okay to drop his feedback as a clip here or to a staff because he explains exactly what his issues with the app is. (i just asked him what he thought of the SE App on stream)

Thats up to the network connection - if its not a super stable one it might go down to 3G
I don't even know how if its possible to manually lock it to 4G

@cloud stag We're not able to troubleshoot issues with using our overlays in StreamLabs OBS (SLOBS) as we don't have the tools to support their software. We recommend using OBS Studio or OBS Studio with our plugin OBS.Live.

the twitch one only works with approved encoders like OBS. Smart stream if available in your app streams to our server which sends the session keep alive to give you a chance to reconnect

another question regarding the mobile app. in the upper right corner in companion mode you have that 3 line triangle menu where you can enable / disable the different types of notification. Only problem we see is that when we disable followers notification, we still get follower alert, the alert sound. How can we disable this so we don't get audio alerts for specific event. with anywhere from 25-400 new followers a stream it gets a bit crazy when the phone is going nuts all the time xD

That's an event list filter, it doesn't stop the alerts from playing. Edit your alertbox and disable the alert on the site.

Even on the latest version (1.7.1), streaming to custom RTMP servers doesn't work for me. Instead of giving me an error, it goes live, but at a very low bitrate (17 Kbps) on both Wi-Fi and mobile data. I've made sure it works perfectly fine on all other Android streaming apps. Also, please make it optional for StreamElements to craete a new YouTube live event scheduling each time I try going live, especially when I'm streaming to a custom RTMP server.

there have been talks to revamp the mobile app as a whole, there are no mobile skip pause play alert buttons, the overlay that is created does have a default alert box you can hear and see on the mobile phone
just the regular widget alert box and overlay items will not be seen on the cell phone or mobile device

oke now that solves 1 issue I have with it. The second issue is that when you log out you only get 2 options to log in Twitch and Youtube but no Facebook. Fine I used the Youtube to log in but in the costum RTMP part I put in the Facebook Server URL and the Stream Key but I doesn't stream it to the RTMP ... it goes to Youtube as a scheduled stream.

Hey, still waiting for companion mode to get reliable 😦 .. Original Twitch app reconnects to chat, other apps do as well, but SE companion mode will just freeze. No notification, no reconnects, making companion mode not useable when moving fast.

@manic jasper Location I believe is for automatically selecting ingest server. The app does not capture audio or video from your other apps at this time. If you'd like music on stream, you'll need to use the media request feature, disable viewer requests (if desired), and link a YouTube playlist in the Backup Playlist field in the media request settings. When showing on stream, the music plays through the overlay.

@edgy gale Yeah it works now. I do want to see about a request as well. I have an S10, which has 3 cameras, one is wide angle. I used to use streamlabs, they had a feature in there to swap between all cameras, which allows the wide angle lens to be used. That would be really helpful as I do a lot of driving streams, and regular is too zoomed.

Had a weird thing happen today, unsure if it's a Twitch issue or something else, as I used the identical settings as two previous IRL/Just Chatting streams on Twitch using the StreamElements Mobile app. Today my streams were not loading for viewers or they only received audio. I triple checked all settings before and after attempting to stream as well.
I stream using a low bitrate and 360p for output and my connection was indicating it was stable on the app

Custom RTMP server is exactly what it says. It's a custom RTMP server, for example your own. You're not limited to the platforms that are integrated in OBS. The custom server function is useful for IRL streams where you have a more advanced setup (IRL Backpack) and you want to have alerts in your stream.
It's pretty much like this:
Your Backpack -> Your custom RTMP server (at home or in a data center) -> Twitch

If its only the chat bot, just make sure its joined in your channel, its modded and that you have for example the "Chat alerts" module activated in the modules page from our dashboard.

Hi team,
I have had an issue occur again with my stream not loading for viewers on Twitch. I did not have this issue with the version of the app before 1.8.4
I have cleared app data & cache. An uninstall/reinstall and still no luck.
I set my bitrate to 360p & 24fps like the previous successful attempts, but I noticed on Twitch that my output is listed at 1080p & 60fps.
On my successful attempts Twitch displayed my output the same as what I had set (360p).

I started using the app because I couldn't find my webcam after moving house.
But I have a webcam now, so will try a test stream with OBS the day after tomorrow and let you know. It certainly is a peculiar occurance.

I think it's something to do with Twitch. Upon reflection, the issues with stream occurred since the new creator dashboard was unveiled by Twitch

@edgy gale I like my alert sound and TTS to play from app in companion mode. RN I'm using the browser link on my phone which times out all the time and fails to play. This will be very much liked by IRL streamers. Currently the app only plays standard ding but I like the custom sound I've uploaded to the cloud to play. Streamlabs app is able to do this in buddy mode but their mobile app sucks for IRL streamers.

Well our app loads a specific mobile overlay that you need to edit in order to hear w/e sound you like to have for alerts, including TTS
same sounds can and should work under companion mode

Im not using the app to stream. I use a sony action camera which sends the signal to RTMP which sends the signal to my home computer running Stream Elements. I just need the mobile app for reading chat and for it to play alerts and tts from my bluetooth speakers

Regardless of the way you use our app - it loads this overlay:
In companion mode, the app will play alerts via this overlay, which is loaded into its own background, but show you chat and activity feed.

Currently im using the Overlay as a browser link. That link times out and fails to play the sound or tts. I'll check the app again but last time I check it only plays a ding rather than the custom alert Ive set.

i downloaded and installed the latest version of StreamElements from the Play Store onto the Google Pixel Pixel, Android version 8.1.0
on startup, when asked to whether Connect via Twitch or Connect via YouTube, i select YouTube and then it begins to buffer forever
the loading bar on top of screen keeps reverting back to 0 when it hits about midway of the total buffer
it does so forever

StreamElements app has random problem where it just... disconnects. It just shuts down, goes to like 24kbps and it is the only app on the phone affected. Anybody experience this? Channel using it is ppim, if that's needed but I'm just trying to see if anybody has experienced this and know of a possible fix action. It doesn't seem to handle any sort of drop in connection well at all.
I am thinking a RTMP would be a solution but I am wondering if there's something else I'm missing with a base setup and SE application.

My phone's update was on December 1st 2019 (Can't tell what the version number is...)

Also, I guess no one else has brought this issue up because they're not trying to record their screen with precise zoom ins. I'm doing that cause I don't have a capture card and don't want anything outside of the TV to be shown. Lol
I guess another way to trouble shoot this is for someone with a different phone than mine to go to their normal camera and test the zoom (trying zooming just a little bit, and zooming in a lot), and then go into the StreamElements app and test the zoom the same way and see if it's different or the same. Because it's much more sensitive compared to my normal camera.

No no, I mean try out the scientific method. Like TEST it. All I need you to do is go into your phone's camera, try zooming in just a little bit. Then go into the StreamElements App and try zooming in a little bit and see the difference. That's all I need you to do. Just trying to identify who's at fault; the app, or my phone.
I'm not trying to SOLVE the problem right now. We just need to IDENTIFY where the problem is coming from.
