  1. Make sure your stream is public. The bot cannot join a private/unlisted stream.
  2. Your stream must be live for the bot to join the chat.
  3. Go to https://studio.youtube.com/, click on Settings > Community and add https://youtube.com/c/streamelements or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjerlCIbLPQwSnYlClkjDXg as a Moderator.
  4. When live, be sure to look at Live chat instead of Top chat, as Top chat will hide the bot messages.

I was working to set up my stream today, had a little test stream where I was adding stream elements stuff. The chat bot didn't seem to be active so I thought if I restarted the stream it might help.

Now however, when I click start streaming, this blank window pops up in my OBS and nothing ever happens. It just sits there and never starts the stream.

What do I do here to get things working again?

it still shows my chat on the right side as normal but if I go to type a reply in the chat from OBS, it says I need to "sign in" to chat and then takes me to google and then back to OBS and now my chat is replaced with the web page for my stream and I have to chat in the window like I would on my phone/desktop.

Youtube doesn't send us a name change event like Twitch does.
The only thing we can change for your Youtube account is the alias/profile/tip link name, but the display name will stay the same in the dashboard it self.

There is no easy way to unlink 2 owner-type accounts from each other. The only way is to make a closure request from here: https://streamelements.com/dashboard/account/security

WARNING: In submitting a closure request, all linked channels within the account will be deleted and you will lose all associated data. This includes overlays, custom commands, timers and past data (tips, subs, etc). You can still reconnect with the deleted account, but you are essentially starting fresh.

Hi Guys
Im having a problem starting a stream to youtube
I have been attempting to run tests before our live event tomorrow.
The first video worked but since then i have not been able to get it to connect to anything without getting the software to start the stream from scratch which defeats the objective of a scheduled event.

can anyone give me some pointers of where i am going wrong?
As i said earlier the first one worked perfectly under the method i require but none of the attempts since.

  1. Users can choose to make the channels that they subscribe to public or private. By default, all settings are set to private.
    Private: When a users subscriptions are set to private, no other user can see what channels they subscribe to. A user's account does not show in a channel's Subscribers List, even if they are subscribed. Public: When users subscriptions are set to public, another user can see what channels they subscribe to. User subscriptions are listed on their channel page, and their account is listed in the Subscribers List for any channel they subscribe to.

  1. YT have publicly stated that sub events can be delayed by 4+ hours and there's nothing we can do about it unfortunately, as they stated this is expected behavior.
    So if the subscriber events doesn't even show in the activity feed, it's probably due to the user's privacy settings.
    Otherwise it should just be delayed.

So, I somehow created two SE accounts instead of one. One is for Twitch and the other is for Youtube. How would I go about linking them together as one account?

The second thing is regarding the Transparent Twitch Chat Overlay I've seen recommended here. How do I go about creating a widget for it that makes it show my Youtube chat instead of my Twitch chat? Is it meant to just be the URL for the chat, or is there something more I need to do to set it up to have Youtube chat in it?

Hello! I was helping my friend set up for YouTube streaming and for some reason his members don't show up in the activity feed.

He can see new subs in the activity feed in OBS.live. He did just turn YouTube members in today and then did a stream to announce that if it makes any difference.

Actually it seems he did get one member now to show... I think it was just needing to wait? I thought he turned it on ahead of time but did it right as he started the stream so that's probably it

  1. Make sure your stream is public. The bot cannot join a private/unlisted stream.
  2. Your stream must be live for the bot to join the chat.
  3. Go to https://studio.youtube.com/, click on Settings > Community and add https://youtube.com/c/streamelements or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjerlCIbLPQwSnYlClkjDXg as a Moderator.
  4. When live, be sure to look at Live chat instead of Top chat, as Top chat will hide the bot messages.

Not sure if this the right place for this doubt, but here we go.
Recently I'm experiencing a problem with my overlays (FB / TW / YT).

1 - They re not showing alerts when my sub interact with stream. Only speech alert is showing.
2 - When I try to go on the stream elements page to edit my overlays, I get stuck on a infinite loading screen.

Already tried to exclude and create new overlays but not works. Even tried to exclude and create a new acc but the problem still there.
Create a new overlay is possible but when I leave the screen and try to go back to edit de overlay the problem occurs

Very sad with this problem, because this tool really brings a lot of fun for streams 😦

Hello Goodnight! once again, sorry for my English, and also for the time I'm asking for help.

I had a problem recently because the status on the StreamElements website doesn't show ONLINE when I turn on live, but I ended up giving up on solving it and trying to continue. So, I had another problem because I can't connect the youtube chat in OBS Studio. When I try to type something, a message appears saying that I must log in to type in the chat. Soon, I'm forwarded to Google, which asks for my email. When I type my email it says the following:

How come my subscribers are not showing in streamelements? It only shows 2. (Even subscribers who are not private don’t show up). Started a gewoon weeks ago on YouTube and it only shows 2 instead of the 12 not private accounts. Can someone help pls.

I streamed on Twitch for 3 years, no problems with chatbot or overlays. I started to test livestream on my YouTube channel recently. And I don't understand some stuff.

I made the bot work, but it works only when I'am live, it works, its just weird.
I made overlays for superchat, members and tips, put them in OBS and tested them. When I was live yesterday, they did not apear on the screen or in the activity panel on SE, any ideas?

Any tips about some weird stuff for YouTube Live would help, thank you pepeCoffee

Switched over to Youtube from Twitch. I noticed that the chat overlay doesn't remove messages that have been moderated/deleted whereas the Twitch overlay does do that. Is this a YT quirk or an oversight?

Users can choose to make the channels that they subscribe to public or private. By default, all settings are set to private.

Private: When a user's subscriptions are set to private, no other user can see what channels they subscribe to. A user's account does not show in a channel's Subscribers List, even if they are subscribed.
Public: When users subscriptions are set to public, another user can see what channels they subscribe to. User subscriptions are listed on their channel page and their account is listed in the Subscribers List for any channel they subscribe to.

To set up the bot for your YouTube stream, please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your stream is public. The bot cannot join a private/unlisted stream.
  2. Your stream must be live for the bot to join the chat.
  3. Go to https://studio.youtube.com/, click on Settings > Community and add https://youtube.com/c/streamelements or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjerlCIbLPQwSnYlClkjDXg as a Moderator.
  4. When live, be sure to look at Live chat instead of Top chat, as Top chat will hide the bot messages.
