Agreed, these do have a large impact in game, an impact that is not being given credit. However, another thing that isn't being given credit how weapon and gadget restrictions do for balance and teamplay. It's hard to articulate without vomiting a whole essay, but I'll grab this snippet that I wrote a while ago that sums up the value of restricted but spread gadgets and tools, and why they are valuable to have: "While you could rely on Medics to revive you 9 times out 10, there were far more people playing the more offensive and effective Assault class, and unless you were playing on a condensed map, a small amount good Medics weren't as effective as a large amount of mediocre Assaults with medical Equipment. Due to Assaults in BF4 having very effective primaries but having most of its gadgets being orientated around medical equipment, it resulted in people running at least one piece of healing, even if it was just to keep themselves alive, and then either the defibs to revive friendlies, or only one of the underslung weapons, as having 4 weapons, 2 being extremely situational, become more of a hindrance and a hassle than they were useful. This resulted in, although not as reliable, consistent levels of healing or reviving whenever in a match of BF4. "

Don't need to rework BF4s graphics first of all, they still look great to this day.

TL;DR While opening the field to allow super specialised loadouts and roles, it becomes reliant on the variable of the teammates that you end up having. The classes system with its restrictions balanced out across them makes it so even the most selfish of players will still contribute to the team because "I have the ability to help the team so I might as well"
