It's definitely true that oftentimes classes were chosen based on their weapons, but I also liked the differing playstyles between them that required a different approach

because you can't buy redeploy uplinks before the match now, and near the middle of the game, if you don't have an uplink, there are simply no more on the map, and you can't redeploy your squadmates at all
no chance to take some sweet revenge when 3 players in your squad get killed
