only the imac and macbook 16" can run bfv
You might be able to do that with extremely low settings
keen in mind that the thermo is a pain in this case
What’s the minimum power I’d need? I spec’d my Mac for music production but RAM is the biggest issue right?
Thermo?
@astral blaze The link I Sent will tell you all about it
Like for BFV to run on it
You can also buy an external GPU
16gb is more than enough. unless youre doing studio recording
imac or macbook tho
coz you cant really run bfv on macbook due to thermo
but imac is good enough for that
Yeah mines got 64gb. It’s a 27” iMac, but not the Mac Pro
which year
2019
@astral blaze Don’t buy a windows 10 key from the windows website but you should buy it off eBay
No I’m not
@opaque saddle why not
if you are a student, you can get a free copy of windows 10 edu
nah go for legit sites
But u will spen like $100
coz those ebay or not legitimate keys may not work after a few months
Oooo my girlfriend is in college, maybe that would work
no you dont need to spend 100 buck
Well it doesn’t really matter where u buy it
it does, coz i know some of them microsoft may actually revoke the keys
But Designate enough space on your hard drive to run battlefield and Windows operating system and anything else you want on your Windows machine
I’ll see if I could get it through her student discount. So that windows 10 edu would work on a Mac? Or would I still have to get that key thing
@astral blaze Read the link I sent you from Apple
If you want your game to look better I recommend getting an external GPU to run when you are running windows
Like this
You buy the case then you buy a PC GPU And plug it into your Mac running windows and it will be like a gaming PC
i mean you dont need to spend >100 bucks for a windows key from MS, you can get it for $11.4 for legit sites that are MS authorised
I like that boot camp thing
@astral blaze just do bootcamp
I shoulda done this 2 months ago when I first started working from home 😂 I’d be playing Battlefield all day
I’m definitely doing Bootcamp
K
You can play any steam or origin game with Boot Camp
Like I play city skylines On my Mac when I’m away from my gaming PC or PS4
So? Will u do it?
@astral blaze
Oh yeah I’m gonna do it
Why would you need to buy a key tbh
Just use it unlicensed if you're a cheapskate
I've got two unlicensed windows VMS that I use because it's too damn annoying to keep buying keysb
you can bring your old windows 10 key over to the new desktop tho
my windows was inactivated for 6 months, i got a news graphics card and with that it was activated again, bargin
The hardware is part of the identification of the system or something
yeah, but not in that way
when you enter a code it uses your hardware to make a unique key for your machine
and if you change hardware. the key will be wrong and it wont be activated.
but i changed hardware and it became activated. so i dont know how that works
I think you have to sync your Microsoft account to the old computer
Then login to the new/modified PC with the same account
This is how you bring the key to the new PC
If you make slight changes to the PC hardware that will be fine
But some OEM keys will not allow that happening so it’s very unlikely allowing you to do so
you can wait til the MS call center in india is on duty, those guys are very generous, like you get a valid new key in 99%,even if your key is not
worked for me even with OEM keys
works also with win7/8 keys
to a new upgraded win 10 key
Hey! does anyone know what the key in nordylls war (i think thats how you type it) is used for
i7 8700, rtx 2070, 16 gb ram
almost all medium settings and i barely got 70-80 fps
it generally drops to 45-50 fps
my drivers are updated and i dont know where is the problem
is it 1x16gb or 2x8gb? @vale gull
my pc finally can handle a bf game
battfield 4
it can actually handle it lol
4 gb ram min
and i have 8 gb ram
i will get very good fps finally
holy shit

the last minute of the gameplay is insane
Meh
not impressed ?
Snuh
snuh?
death by snusnu?
Gah
Original projected date was in June wasn't it? But then it was supposed to be pushed back?
august actually
my guess is the just want to release the next gen before amd does release big navi
whenever that will be
maybe we get lucky and they will announce something tomorrow, but i doubt it,just server cards planed
err pro cards
yea people suspecting august like 2000 series was
fps depends on the game and "settings"
30 is minimum, i pref 60 but 30 is not really a problem for certain games
and those certain games normally choose graphics over frames for said reason
30 fps is unplayable for an fps
Fine for a casual game. But definitely not something fast paced
I was watching some gameplay of mine which I accidentally uploaded at 30 fps and it was making me feel dizzy
hi guys
I wouldn't call it a great experience
Ok?
congratulations @left urchin
I play on GameCube
Honestly thought
it's amazing that even on 2020 not all games run at 60fps minimum
Well I like to thank the shitty core 2 duos for causing that
Well graphics will always increase so it’s just a matter of determining what they are going for
If we are getting ray tracing next gen that’s obviously a huge point of horse power
Aaa
Also guys
Can you help me I might make a gaming pc and I need some help
On what I need and what is good
i guess @latent light shall make a list of budget/1000/1500/2000 bucks PC building list and save it and let people to share it

Prices changed all the time, not to mention needs and wants, games, resolution, etc
There’s a point of questions to be answered for a build I recommend you read those
Would you say the Dell G5 Gaming Desktop is good?
Prebuilts are almost always bad
Especially from bigger companies like Dell
Honestly if you want a prebuild look at what your local computer shop offers
so ur saying I should just make one?
That's what I'd do, you save money and make sure you don't get scammed
Ight
hmmmm
good monitor or no
are you going to be gaming @vestal prism ?
if you are going to be using your pc as a workstation, then yeah looks pretty good. but it only has a 60hz refresh rate from what i can see, so i wouldnt recommend it for gaming
Alr
What would you recommend for gaming that isn’t super expensive
Also how much do they usually cost
144hz 1080p are around 200-300
i got my 144hz 1440p ips for $255
@vestal prism pre builts even at a good price usually have worse quality components
youll get a 2080 that is a blower or single fan, youll get the cheapest ram possible, a poorly rated power supply, and a crappy micro ATX MB in a full sized case
ppffhttt
should i get a built or pre built
10600k has a 125w tdp
always build
what if i have never built one before
then watch a youtube video
i could destroy the parts
that was the case with absolutely everyone at one point
its VERY hard to fuck it up
its almost impossible to destroy computer parts
i actually did fuck something up
there was a video years ago where a builder did absolutely everything wrong and the pc still worked
i wanted to install new ram in my pc and i broke the ram
(intentionally built wrong, not the verge kind of wrong)
i watched someone spray water onto a computer whilst it was running and even that took a while to die
@lean cipher well if you watched a video and they told you to line up the notches and you listened you would have been fine
thats easy to counter. dont build on carpet, or wearing clothes that produce static
jayz2cents took an electric rod to his pc and it still worked
i put my gpu power cable in upside down once and it was fine lol
We built a computer wrong ON PURPOSE!

with a pre-built you mostly get crap quality ones, even if it's technically a 3080 or something
prebuilts are basically "tick mark" spec sheets
16gb of ram, i7, 2080
ram is slowest frequency, bad timings and a brand you never heard of
i7 is an 7700
2080 is a pny single fan
Verge would still approve that build
according to userbenchmark, the i5 10600k outperforms the 9900k
but i cant find anything to back that up
hmm
Call bullshit on that, userbenchmark isn't exactly the most accurate. Maybe in single-core but it stops there.
hey, let a man dream
6x12t is more than enough for me, as long as it gives bang for buck gaming performance ill end up getting it
Only thing I'm not sure about with that chip is the price and the power consumption
True, I mean I have a 3600, just saying userbenchmark isn't that accurate
i could care less about power consumption, i bought an 850w psu for 100 bucks years ago
Still need a beefy cooler
cooler is considered in price to performance personally
Plus you are paying the same price as a very capable 8 core 16 thread
Which might be better in the long run
ehh, i thought the core count explosion is not going to be going forward
even for gaming very few games really benefit off 6c12t
it will
Depends
it will EVENTUALLY
it will for sure
Eventually it has to, yes
but its definitely not going to keep this pace
who knows
and games havent even kept up with the core count pace either
8 core will become the new normal, like 4 core was
it's a matter of time
16 core will become the new normal, but when? in 20 years?
8 core will be the standard eventually, but like Nyphon said, when?
consoles normally have more core counts though
you know how bad consoles games are ported to pc
people have been saying since ps4/xbox one that they were going to determine core counts going forward
bfv uses all my cores and more than 16 gigs ram, your turn 😛
and it took till the tail end of this gen for that to become remotely the truth
bfv is not "the standard"
definitely the outlier
for 95% of gaming, i dont see 8c8t or 8c16t becoming NECESSARY till at least 2025
hell i would even say 2030
the other thing,if the new gen gpus become so powerful as expected, the cpu's will start to bottleneck
lol dream on with 2025
give it 2 years
ma
x
we can always bet about it
you think in 2 years its suddenly going to jump?
Not so sure about that, can't really push clockspeed and ipc that far anymore.
So maybe we'll just keep increasing core count instead
steam is not a very good indication though, lots of games are indie with very low requirements
you have to look at upcoming AAAs
im talking about what is necessary
if you want to say that the unoptimized mess of bfv is "standard' and use that as an indication of what is necessary thats your decision
20% already on 6 cores
True, I'm sure that includes a lot of older PCs that only get used occasionally for gaming
and just have steam installed with some lighter titles
even so, i bet new games coming out would run on 4c8t just fine
4c8t sure, although not all of them will be completely smooth
if i look at cpu's sold around here,it no 1 cpu's are 8 cores since months,after that 6 cores,almost no 4 cores anymore
actually, they will run, thats basically a guarantee, just comes to a case by case basis on if the performance is good enough for you
if i look at cpu's sold around here,it no 1 cpu's are 8 cores since months,after that 6 cores,almost no 4 cores anymore
@violet plank whats being bought is a different story of what is the standard for gaming
eu is fully amd ryzen land,no idea about the us
mid tier is now 6c12t, theres no reason not to get those when they were priced at 85 usd compared to anything else
its more of a "why the fuck not" than "this is what i NEED"
i don't buy what i need rn,i want it a bit future proof too,as far that's possible to predict
if i would buy what i like, that would not make any sense at all
i guess we will just have to wait till 2025 and 2030 to see where things are
unless we get another explosion in core count that ryzen brought out 3 years ago i dont see 8c cpus being the "standard" in 2030
Think I'll just get a used ryzen 7 or toss out my current mobo when the time comes
i'm on a 3700x rn,fit my needs perfectly, but gonna upgrade for 4000 when it hits the shelfs
could use some more ipc
Also depends if the B450 will support any Zen 3 chips whatsoever. Zen 2 didn't officially support B350 as well ¯_(ツ)_/¯
If I can't get a used Zen 3 a few years dwon the line there's a bigger chance I'll just get a new mobo altogether
Yeah, I think so
Mine has 32mb, but most only have 16
That's why there's no official zen 3 support
dont care, I can slap a 3950x and 32gb RAM into my board and ride off into the sunset until ddr5 gets out of meme territory
Same thing for the B350s and Zen2s
if it runs it runs i guess
a 3950x in a b350 is questionable at best lol
if ddr5 is the same as ddr4 at the start, there will be zero benefit
iirc ddr3 was even faster then the first ddr4 kits
@prime jasper Oh no, I didn't mean that. Just that Zen 2 wasn't supported on B350. Like the B450 an d Zen 3 now
So there's a chance there is still support for the B450 with a Bios flash
the "official" support
ofc they wanna sell new boards/chipsets
oh,didn't realize the new a100 ampere gpu's need amd epyic cpu's
poor intel
i assume the 3xxx cards will have pice 4 as well then
yes?
bfv can technically be ran off a 4c4t cpu, though you are likely to get stupid amount of stutter and low frames
3600 is the go to gaming only cpu right now
The best budget cpu with low cost that is capable to handle large AAA titles
Can I run bfv in my calculator?
I dont see why not
Maybe if you had two calculators to balance the load
@storm osprey Thanks ill have a look at pricing then
wtf,did i read that right, for the i9 10900k to hit it's all core boost the cpu temp has to be below 70 degree C?lmao,do they include ln2 cooling ?
pfht
hah
they wish
do they expect everyone to have a custom loop or something?
well saying that. if you can afford that chip, you can probably afford a custom loop
pre sale is 600$
i highly doubt any aio can keep that chip below 70 C on all core boost
its tdp is 125w but i really doubt thats accurate
my guess is 150+w
the 10600k also has a 125w tdp. and that cant be right
even my 3700x goes up to 72/3 C on constant full load,and that's a 65W chip lul
yeah again. it draws more than that
250W all core is intels statement,if it's true,well...
i have a 240mm aio and my chip draws anywhere between 95-100w with an overclock. and it doesnt go over 60 degrees ususally
maybe they cut the power at 250W,i guess it could go way higher, but that would simply burn it into oblivion
280 aio and noctua d15 here
i change them sometimes depending the case i use
not both at the same time lol
they have about the same cooling power
the cooler i have is super overkill but i got it at a banging price so
a 240mm aio simply isnt needed for a 2600 lol
but it was the same price as an air cooler. was 50% off
bit overkill yeah
40 pounds
deepcool
ah,better
deepcool l240
better pump iirc
more quiet
and better cooling
but 40£,wtf,that's like for free for that aio
there was also the next model up, the l240t for the same price. the rad looks nicer but the pump looks wank
first one is the one i have, and the second one is the nxt model up
also damn, the price is down again
why are they so cheap in the uk ?
130 pounds
right,found it
this cooler might just be really low end. but again, i only have a 2600. i havent been able to stress it that much
as i said. with an overclock it keeps it sub 60 degrees. which could be either down to a low tdp chip or my magic cooler lol
i have to try the stock cooler sometimes
oh with the stock cooler the overclock i run was unusable lol
sub 60 is great
instantly 85 degrees+ and rising
oh that rgb one?
yeah
something like that
wraith prism!
one thing with this cooler which im not sure happens with other water coolers is the temperatures seem to spike as soon as there is a load but then settle
like i was idling at 29 degrees then, i opened task manager and it shot up to 40 and then settled back down
normal for ryzen,at least 3xxx
and most thermal programs trigger that as well
best to use ryzen master to read out thermals,it does not trigger the cpu to spike
yeah thats what im using
its what i use for overclocking too, because my bios has me confuzzled
i probably wont buy a gigabyte board again on an overclocking capable chip
gigashyte
trying to get the voltage right in this bios is a nightmare. ive had this board for at least 6 months and i still havent been able to do it lol
all i ask is there just to be a fucking box saying "enter fucking voltage"
and i could type "1.35" and be done with it
imo asus has still the best bios for oc and tweaking
but no, they have this crappy offset thing which i have no idea how to use
and even when i do just put some random offset on to see what it does, the voltage according to hwinfo doesnt change
yep,that's gigabyte lol
btw, this about ryzen temps, but i assume you already know that one
still valid
i still got my gigbyte gpu,the only one i ever had to flash a new bios
ive had to go ham on this gpu to get it to work lol
dafuq lol
firstly i had to bend the prongs at the back of the io plate thing
as they wouldnt fit into my case
and then i had to pull the bottm part of the shroud down as the fans kept catching
wtf
and making that horrific sound
its mostly fixed now. its what i get for getting one of the cheapest 2070's there was
windforce 2x
thought windforce has always 3 fans
that's msi right ?
oh windforce x2 sorry lol
or what was the name of the msi fan thingy
i wouldnt have had any of these problems if i had got the 5700xt. but i didnt want to risk the driver issues
with my budget i could have got a nice 5700xt or a cheap 2070. i opted for the latter
and i dont regret my decision at all. after constantly seeing 5700xt's fail
the card isnt all bad. obviously it was cheap. its quiet and looks ok
was the same with mine, after i flashed a new bios it has never failed me,but before....
and on an open bench it runs at a respectable temperature
not so much in a case. but that could also be down to bad airflow. not the card
got no hands on experience on 5700xt's
only read about the driver issues
yeah,might be bad airflow
a close friend of mine and nyphon brought 5700(xt) after the "fix" and both had problems
you got your cpu as intake or exhaust ?
i need to switch my fans around. but just cba atm lol. i have my rad on the front as an intake. and the top 2 fans also intaking with the rear fan as an exahust
i need to put the rad on the top as an exhaust. and all other fans as intake i think
front intake for the cpu is actually good
yeah great for the cpu. but im blowing hot air straight at my gpu
and my gpu is what needs the cooling. not my cpu
as you said,try top exhaust
not much options there
2 front intake and cpu top exhaust
maybe a back exhaust
i will. im still scarred atm from the last time i messed with these rgb cables and blew my motherboard up lol
i remember
ik its fine, and ik what i did wrong. but im still too scared to mess with them
there is 2 versions of rgb,the stupid 12v 4 pin and the argb 3 pin 5v
just don't mix them anywhere else and you're good
i blame deepcool for that tbh. for them making it possible to connect the power supply directly into the motherboard rgb connector lol
and making it so easy to do, as the cables all look so similar
maybe that's why it's so cheap
maybe yeah
you could always get a rgb hub, easier (safer)
but on the other hand, you'll probably need everything from the same brand then
there we go lol
corsair is the same shit
another thing. i have the same fans all over my system (rf120's) 2 of them came with the aio and the other 3 i brought seperatly. and for some stupid reason. the 2 that came with the aio are male connectors and the other 3 are female
so im having to control 3 with the wired controller which uses the power supply. and the other stuff can be done of the motherboard
maybe to daisy chain ?
i emailed them about that, and they said it wasnt possible
lol
when i got these parts i was at a weird price point. i could get a really nice, but slower part. like a nice 2060 super. or a cheaper but faster part like the 2070
and the same thing goes for the case and all of my cooling system
Anyone else has almost the exact same fps when playing on low vs ultra?
Playing at 1440p 3700 X and 2070 super
depends on the map but yes, mostly not too much difference
Ok
i notice that going from ultra to low, instead of fps going up, usage just goes down
Yeah
low/high mesh 1440p 144hz = 144fps,same on high settings around 120fps
with some drops
i have that issue with 1080p. if i try play at 1080p i get the same fps but gpu usage has dropped massively
What specs do you have, Isuni
which is annoying, as i would like to play bfv at 1080p to get that 144fps
same except 1080ti
basically the same then lol
Yeah
almost
1080ti=2070 super roughly
32 gig highly oc ram which get's me some better low 1% fps
maybe cause the 1080ti has a higher bandwith, dunno
yeah they are still different cards
i do get drops on high below 120
like on huge maps
but i play on low settings anyways
except mesh
@supple bane

to see my enemies better
lol
he likes to get to know his enemies before he blows their face off
mesh high = soldiers more visible
but that only works if everything else is set to low
Ok
Do you guys also have this bug, where enemies further away than about 100 m are glowing orange?
It feels like cheating
like real glowing ?
oh i have something similar!
YES
weird
White and orange
but they are neon green not orange lol
lol, no way
cheaters!
I don't get this all the time, but when it happens, it's really noticable
YES
i only get it sometimes with a plane when in scope, they appear in bright white
wtf,i want that too lol
And I also don't have it completely in one color
heheh
its not my fault you suck
saying that, i have never seen your stats or anything
pffff
you may well be better than me
dunno,don't care much about stats
Grant, which program do you use to show your temperatures in the top left corner?
msi afterburner
riva tuner with msi afterburner
Maybe you post in stats, so we can all see
i use the same
i also mainly have played squad conquest. which is really easy to win with a good squad alone
its on that message
mhm
My friend wants to buy a GPU, his budget is 150$ give or take
What GPU should he buy?
Rx 570
wow
he wants to buy a gtx 1650
i have to convince him
or is gtx 1650 good @supple bane
I don't think he is gonna play battlefield
Even a 1650 super can't beat the rx 570 in battlefield 5 if i recall correctly
I just came here because here is where the pros are
Why are we the pros?
bruh
This is a battlefield discord server
granty, zen, nyphon and ace is the tech pros
so i come here when i have tech questions
Yes this is a Battlefield server, but the channel #technology is related to anything nerdy stuff, so like tech stuff and questions
you forgot grim and killa
well some people are just completely clueless about this stuff but will still recommend parts
Like me
I don't understand PC stuff, I just love tanks, if you want to know some stuff on a tank, just ask me
which tanks have built in coffee machines?
asking the real questions
I have no idea, I forgot what tank it was, all I know is it was a British tank, and it had a water heater for tea
British
lol of course it did
I think it was a Challenger 2 or something
I'm reminded of the USAF having these really expensive electric self-heating coffee mugs that cost the taxpayer so much money to replace parts for
a quick google search suggests acer swift 3
but thats out of stock
wouldnt we need to know the software he is using too though? i dont video edit but i assume certain software works better off more cores or higher IPC, even though i think AMDs laptop cpus are better than intels in both regards...
anyone one see how quick ducky keyboard went out of stock?
why was that?
what u mean?
why did ducky keyboards go out of stock fast...
???
Hey I’m wondering if I can stream from PlayStation 4, and I have discord on my phone. Help?
Ps if I can’t do that can I stream through camera
I’m new to discord so I’m a noob :/
@lilac surge Not sure what your question is trying to ask.
I mean, I guess you could, but that would be horrible. Why would you want to do that?
Idk because I don’t know how to stream from ps4 to discord which I have on mobile
See
I’m dumb
You can't.
Oof
That’s why I want to stream from camera
I’m just streaming to a friend so it doesn’t need to be 4K uhd or anything lol
You can setup a computer with a capture card, or something like a El Gato capture/passthrough.
Not going to be able to do it from your phone though.
I mean, technically you could if you're just pointing the phone's camera at your screen, but that's going to be beyond horrible.
I need help with my xbox
@frosty gust what is it?
You can also try to connect to the servers, it tells you at the bottom of the screen in the corner, you might have to do it more than once. @frosty gust
I need help with my PS4
Mmmk
I can't play bf v online
Look up a bit
Look at what I told the other guy
Try loading up a different game then com back
It doesn't work
Yo anyone remember athlon 64 x2?
Yes
I own a pc with an althon x4 9750
I used to have the 4000+
Why not? I have a couple nog these. I also using the Phenom X4 9550 for my HTPC with a GT 730
Its a great xp machine but a terrible machine for modern operating systems
Was using z8300 machines coz it only rated 2w (up to 4w TDP) while running a weather station server
So why would a low powered machine run a weather station server I may ask
Coz it uses 4w power only
The calculation can be offload to my main pc and console
However, it takes around 15 seconds to load up a graph or 5 second to refresh the page each time (every minute)
what about google consoles
In between 300-500 USD
Why not just stadia
Why not ouya
Ouya
why'd the world have to do my boy so bad
hello my nerdos
i am very outdated
has amd released any competition against the nvidia 20x series yet?
yeah sorta
the 5000 series
the 5700xt is a direct competitor to the 2070/2070 super and the 5700 is a direct competitor to the 2070 and 2060 super
there isnt a competitor to the 2080/2080ti tho
the 5700xt is a direct competitor to the 2070/2070 super and the 5700 is a direct competitor to the 2070 and 2060 super
neato
is any of those 5700s built for ray tracing as well or not?
i hope not i guess
no amd card is ray tracing capable as of yet
nice
for me personally at least i guess
since almost no game uses ray tracing yet and i personally dont crave it either and it adds a lot of value to the card
id rather go for a powerful card that doesnt care about ray tracing
as for now
i keep hearing that intel works better with nvidia than amd gpus but i also hear it's a myth
how can i know who's right
¯_(ツ)_/¯
atm, most people are running ryzen cpu's with rtx cards iirc. so there is a lot of people missing out on performance if it was true lol
ic
well for gaming, especialy high end cpus, intel still has the best performance, so maybe thats what they mean?
but you spend more to get marginal performance gains
Ryzen 4000 expected to have 15-17% IPC gain, could be even higher according to engineers
DOPE
That honestly seems too good to be true to me
huh can somebody explain this to me in dumb mode pls
its just rumors
@fallen harbor IPC is instructiong per cycle, basically how strong individual cores are
IPC is how many instructions a CPU can complete in a cycle, clockspeed how much cycles it can complete in a second. The more instructions a core can complete in a second , the faster it generally is.
lmao, testing and "felt",the point when you now your read fake rumors
RX 5700 and 5700 XT are fast cards for the price, but Nvidia's software and feature-set still reigns supreme.
Certain 5700 XT's can overclock to come within pretty close striking distance of a 2070 Super - within 5%
If performance is your only concern, by all means go Radeon. Nvidia's driver support is far more frequent and better optimized, their software suites are objectively superior, and all Turing cards have built-in capture devices that support the new NVENC codec.
There's also obviously ray tracing and some of the new AI enhancements with the tensor cores. Also, DLSS is pretty lit.
AMD drivers still occasionally come out with the worst possible support you'd ever see
Hmm, but I can buy a 5700XT for significantly less than a 2070 super
You know whats gonna be sad the ps5 will now outperform the rx 400-500 series of gpu's
meaning now I can't call my pc a console killer for the ps5
Things change 🤷♀️
RX 5700 and 5700 XT are fast cards for the price, but Nvidia's software and feature-set still reigns supreme.
does it though? I have never had any sort of issue regarding the amd drivers
Isnt it a good thing that consoles are starting to really compete with top of the line gaming hardware?
high end pcs will be similar to consoles the year consoles come out, then consoles will get behind and will launch a new generation of consoles to catch up
Not with last gen at least
yes, the ps4 wasn't far from a high end pc back in 2014
It wasn't far from but it didn't out perform
I'm just saying eventually we'll have much more affordable gaming hardware
as far as i am concerned, the ps5 will have a significantly higher price at lunch that the one the ps4 had at its time
so it will be better but also more expensive
so idk if thats good or bad
Idk
Sony is willing to take a loss on the console to sell games on their storefront and sell exclusives
Steam, epic, origin all take a cut of sales, so does Microsoft and Sony when they sell games digitally
Though I think sony may stop exclusives soon
As on the pc they have been porting horizon zero dawn which was an only ps4 exculsive which is coming to pc
i heard rumours about bloodborne getting to pc but tbh i fail to see that happening
anybody knows anything about that?
No but I know horizon may be coming to pc
They have a steam page up and running
Also wanna know something funny after bill gates left microsoft, windows 10 got gaming features
He stepped down from the board no idea
He left Microsoft like 15 years ago, lol
Lol
Also, Horizon is coming to PC next month I'm certain.
As is Death Stranding
But it's good that consoles are going to be in a more than competent position moving forward. We'll get to see a big jump in graphical fidelity and such altogether, since most game developers design games with the least common denominator still in mind. There only big exception to this was Crysis in 2007.
oh yeah it caused many pc to die
And if RDNA 2.0 and Ampere leaks are true, computer graphics are basically going to be CGI level moving forward
If its gonna be that realistic then won't that impose a problem in vr as how can you tell if your in a videogame anymore?
I mean, some of the playable tech demos from Unreal and Unity last year were basically that.
But now consoles are in a place where they'll be able to push that kind of tech, as the Unreal 5 PS5 demo has shown, so game development collectively will move in that direction.
What's cool is that even though Unreal bought out Quixel earlier this year, Unity will still be supporting the tech and receiving updates.
Until games start consistently running at 60-120fps on console while looking stunning I'm not going to be too impressed
its still stuck at 30fps I heard
The console isnt
Just devs are lazy atm
Itll probably be a couple years before we see a triple A title on console running at 120 fps and it'll probably be a game that doesnt need much power to begin with
Games can do 60 FPS but devs will push graphics over that if they want to.
Not only that but TVs are pushing resolution over FPS too so resolution takes a lot of resources too
I do not have the tech, sorry
anyone use VDI? - WVD?

why?
ah
During the #GTC20 virtual keynote, NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang showcased a piece created by NVIDIA to illustrate the power of #RTX on the Omniverse Platform. Marbles was created by a distributed team of artists and engineers in Omniverse, assembling VFX+ quality assets...
We got enough people complaining to where AMD is working out a way to support Ryzen 4000 on 400 series boards

@prime jasper youre name is against the rules as a heads up
Rule 4: Username, Status & Avatars
Your username, status, playing status & avatar must be appropriate. Blank names & disruptive or unusual unicode characters such as zalgo aren't allowed.
hmm, seems to be legit after all
with a 240aio
now intel is suggesting using a 360 aio for that cpu
still ring bus design,no need for more

why would you need 64gb of ram
video editing
any HEDT workflow for that matter
running multiple VM's on the same machine etx
Ah
is it true that nvidia will release the 30xx series this year?
wouldnt that be too soon?
strong suggestion, nothing confirmed
word is 3000 series will launch by september
2000 series was announced in august, launched in september iirc
didnt the 1000 series last like 3 years?
its only been one year since the 2000 series
i think?
its been 1 year since the super refresh
2000 series launched in sept 2018
1000 series launched in may 2016
nah, when i got into pc gaming the 970 was brand new and that was 2014ish
You know whats gonna be sad the ps5 will now outperform the rx 400-500 series of gpu's
Isnt it a good thing that consoles are starting to really compete with top of the line gaming hardware?
I wouldn't say RX400-500 series are top of the line gaming hardware at all
always the same discussion every console gen release lol
PS5 is comparable to a RTX 2070 while Xbox Series X is comparable to 2080
well before ps4/xbox one werent consoles good bang for buck value graphic wise?
obviously top of the line pc stuff was still better, but consoles got close for much cheaper
consoles won't compete with PCs. If your really think of the target audience and the long run costs you'll know
consoles are cheaper cause they do not sell at a profit
they earn profit from services
i think this gen sold at a profit iirc
i dont see the masses liking anything more than 500
nevertheless PC is better in my situation cause 1- Don't pay for online, 2- modular, 3- buy games at insane discount prices, etc.
I don't really care for exclusives much either
not paying for online and modular are really the only perks atm, consoles get solid discounts now
- consoles always advertise high fps and graphics but the truth is you get either this or that
they say "up to" and people believe that's the flat out performance
Sony thinks their 5.5 GB/s SSD bandwidth will make the PS5 better than the XSX, although the XSX gpu is 40% faster
idk why consoles are saying they are going for 120hz, theres very few 120hz tvs out there
fast SSDs are great but at some point you don't need faster than X amount. As end consumers we should keep in mind that by the end of the day companies are trying to earn our money by any means
so doesn't matter if your prefer company X or Y
still competition is to our advantage
it does, because company microsoft has no exclusives..
yeah I misphrased that. meant it fanboyism doesn't matter. Preferring and opinions though are great
thats why i always own pc, ps, and nintendo console
I went from console to gaming lap to pc. Not gonna buy ps5 cause friends will probably buy and we have an apartment for everyday gatherings and gaming etc.
(not during this pandemic though)
i always wait about 2 years to get consoles
if they keep doing "pro" versions i might just always wait for those
i dont see the masses liking anything more than 500
@storm osprey 500 is pretty much max I would give for a console.
Anything more and you are almost better off getting a PC
Yeah PCs are more than just gaming, everyone needs at least a laptop or a PC anyways
its interesting that ps is putting exclusives on pc now too though
seen the lou2 ps4pro edition @storm osprey ?
fuuuuu noooo
go look it up
fuuuuu thats so nice
but pricey
its not gaudy like other special editions
why is it pricey? isnt that msrp?
it's with the game,so not sure
its 400 usd from what i saw
and if that comes with the game thats a deal
i have the loud AF ps4 pro so i might try to snag this...
and the controller is also edition design
would be nice to know if it's some kind of a new revision
ehh anything is better than first year pro consoles
don't wanna buy a vacuum
anyone got a link ?
true lol
looks good
im borderline tempted to buy it
with a short video
same tbh
me 2 lol
might have a good resell value sometimes
sometimes
More of a collector’s item I guess
What’s the best collector’s items in recent games?
CP will launch with at least 1 3xxx card if the rumors are true
i'm sure there will be a remaster for ps5,wait or not ...
Quick unboxing video.

I've it on my PC case
the helmets are pretty heavy as well
Oh those look sick
sadly it doesn't fit on my cat's head
lol i remember that part
used ps4 pros in my area are selling stupid high too
hell on amazon ps4 pros are going for 500
hmmm, so sell ps4 now, and pre order a special edition?!
fam whos buying a ps4 in the literal end of its lifespan wot
if i sell my ps4 for 300, get the TLOU ps4 pro for 400 (game included), i would have technically paid 20 bucks for the system
(tlou ps4 pro comes with steelbook of the game, which is 80 bucks normally, which is what i will get no matter what)
My old PS4 from 2013 won't be even worth selling
It's a jet engine and 7 years old doubt anyone would want it for 100-150.
idk, theres a shortage in usa from what i can tell
amazon says theres only 7 left, gamestop has no stock within 100 miles of me too
We don't have any shortages here
still 500 hot damn
literally an hour ago it said 7 in stock
499 heck
I want to play ps games but like moneh
I like money too
Tlou2 leak ruined it for me
I'll get 3 times my monthly wage in 4 days so will be rich af for a few weeks.
Although i've to get a laptop, scooter and some other shit
and book my holiday for 2025.

tloupt > all of that
tlou2 is kinda cringe
Can't wait for scalpers just take all those remove the games and call it ps4 pro 1tb for 500 and last of us part II 80
It's supposed to be a 20+ hour game
So seeing outcomes without context doesn't really ruin it, especially knowing there's no plans for a trilogy - I expect everyone to die and I expect polarizing outcomes. I just need to know how they get to said outcomes.
Since the theme seems to be revenge combined with "how far is too far?"
They actually got criticized for forcing a happy ending on Uncharted 4, but that was done more so as fan service, and I think they mostly nailed it. These characters don't really deserve that treatment.
^ Has nothing to do with #technology , take it over to #general Thanks
You know whats funny
consoles are more likely to be scalped but pc parts like cpu or motherboards are barely scalped even if there most important
True
yo
im having a problem
i used to own a h61mk with an i7 3770 and a r9 380, I got a new pc last year so I gave my old pc to my sister. That old pc used to have this problem where it just randomly stopped working, lost screen and audio but the PC was still on. I asked at a local and they said the mobo was too old and needed to get its driver updated, so I did, and my sister never had that problem ever again for a year
but just tonight it happened again, twice
I restarted it, plugged the vga onto the mobo and it detected a signal (which means the mobo wasn't recognizing the gpu I guess), I assumed the gpu might be dead, but then I restarted again and it did detect the signal from the gpu normally
and stopped detecting it again after like 10 minutes
idk what to think now because idk what can cause it now after updating the mobo's driver
it happened all the time 3 years ago and never again last year, so why would it mean it's dead now?
i mean im not denying it but it doesnt sound very logical to me
Was the gpu bought used or new?
new
i was told that it had an incompatibility with the h61mk
driver wise
its not like i did it just in case
Hmmm
i updated it because some people told me it's a fact
so i updated it and it indeed never happened again for an entire year
but it happened now twice
so im confused
strange as gpu couldn't cause it and it could be a cable on your pc
If the pc was still on after lost screen maybe the cable you used for video could be bad
other then that dying psu maybe
Whats the psu?
hmm i dont remember, i think it's a thermaltake 500w
i cant think of deeper details right now
might check later
tomorrow
is there any way to check if the psu is performing well?
Well replace it with another psu
i want to be 100% sure of what causes the problem because buying anything
these things are very expensive where i live
Ah do you have another pc?
Older that just sitting in a corner doing jack shit and dusting away
Yeah try to make a pc and use that psu as some sort of test if it does the same thing then its the psu but if it does not then it isn't
like no case you could use a screwdriver to turn it on
i never knew how to do that 😦
Its very simple watch this video on how to do that
