I wouldn't look at a virus more like look at what tasks are running in task manager
I dont have the greatest rig so I watch the task manager carefully, I can drop the Background processes to 22ish and windows tasks to 53
that takes some strain off of the CPU
also shifted discord + all other apps to my laptop so all my PC is doing is running the game

Hey, I cant play the game at all rn. The lagging is outta this world, I played a few days ago no problem, with ping staying around 30-40 and now it stays above 120, it makes the game unplayable. oh yes i cap at 141 fps and have that all the time, i'm using a 144hz gsync monitor and to get the lowest possible input lag i cap the framerate to stay in the gsync range.

no it’s not rare at all. It’s when you start going past 3ghz it becomes an issue. most motherboards I see support up to 3200mhz ram. But ddr4 is pushing onto 5ghz now

You have "share game data publicly" disabled, which you can enable by opening the Battlefield V client, going to settings, pressing the about button in the bottom left corner, open the game data tab and by turning on "share game data publicly".

I get really high CPU usage (about 95-100%) but my GPU always reads at 1-5%. I have updated drivers, a 1060 GTX, 16GB of DDR4, it's on an SSD and I have an i5 6400.
The game doesn't lag much, I get around 60 fps, but I get spikes when my CPU hits 100% which is often. Like running into rooms or seeing big areas, explosions, etc. Not really sure what else to do, I searched forums and yet nothing has really worked for me so far. Initially bought BF5 back at full price, but gave up and now I'm getting back into it but the performance is crippling :(

Disabled the overlay ages ago. With the overlay up, I can barely click items in the main menu. With it disabled, I get a decent main menu, but it spikes like crazy when in game.
Recently I tried setting the PhysX manually to be used in BF, and then I also tried making sure Shadowplay as off as that was another common problem. Neither made any different, I did custom .CFG files, and I tried console commands.

2900 XT back in its hayday was around $600, and after 8 months, it basically fried itself. I had 2 other cards in crossfire later, I can't recall them anymore as it was 8 years ago.. but after a bad crossfire driver.. I had to remove one to play Bad Company 2 :(

It appears to be a driver issue. I used a tool to remove everything and freshly install it. Not install Nvidia Experience at all and now not only does it run fine. My GPU shows a load of like.. 85% in game with medium settings. It used to show a load of 1-5% for some reason.

My honest theory is that when DICE got the contract from EA to do Battlefront, the pressure from Disney made them put their A team on Battlefron 1 and 2. So its very well optimized.
But they had to keep making Battlefield 5, so it has the B team and it just full of problems and optimization issues :|
The pressure on DICE to deliver BF1 and 2 was immense. Being a game contract w/ Disney, they'd receive heavy monetary penalties for being late.

Ah well, maybe my issues persist in BF5 for reasons unknown because when it came out I bought it with 5 friends, and most of us had issues in the big 64 game in that city map. When things would collapse or explode, we'd all drop to low FPS :( Ultimately, we all stopped playing BF5.. and left for R6 Siege.
