yes i know but a lot say some might be more or less prone to cause errors, others say thats bs ofc but thats how it is with every single detail in this matter
i cant trust everyone
my old Athlon CPU from 2009 will work with a RTX 2080
but again thats not the main reason
neither are bad, one does better for games out of the box, but wont last as long
it will bottleneck it, but it will still work
for 60fps gaming, i dont think one will really show its age worse after a while
as grim said, hopefully theres not another big cpu core bump any time soon
i personally dont think its gonna happen for a while, but who knows
4 cores were enough for stable frametimes in 2015
now you need at least 6
if you want consistency
the next Battlefield will most likely use more CPU than BF1 and BFV imho tbh ngl js
and a multi-threaded 6 core CPU such as the i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 2600 (or the future Ryzen 3 3300 lol) will last significantly longer than a 6 core without multi-threading
Battlefield CPU demand (and GPU and more in general) have been increasing a lot every two launches
since bad company
Bad Company 1 and 2 were almost the same (1 was console exclusive tho so we cant compare a lot)
Bf3 was a high jump, but Bf4 was about the same
then BF1 with another big jump, but BFv is about the same
so the next one will probably do a big jump agaoin
BFV is more demanding than BF1
yes but parts are getting cheaper
BF1 will run fine on a Pentium G4560, but BFV will stutter like crazy
yes, and bf4 is also more demanding than bf3, but not as much as comparing bf3 to bc2, or bf1 to bf4
if you know what i mean
the next bf will probably be a nightmare to run
so it doesnt really change much, more powerful parts are becoming much cheaper, so in terms of the price you would have to spend to make a rig to run bf, it shouldnt change
BFV even has occasional frametime spikes on 4-core/8-thread i7s
and another thing, it really depends on what your preferences are, like some people dc about have mid settings 60 fps,
60fps is more than enough for me. OFC i would fucking love 144 but all of this is ridiculously expensive in this country so thats not an option
unless i was literally rich
ye, as long as it is above 60 fps idc, and thats only in a shooter game, like if im playing ark survival im happy with 30 fps
min wage = 290usd
literally any pc part = at least double the price than where you live
month
month
oof
damn
like i just endebted myself heavily by buying these parts
a lot more than youd do by buying a nasa pc
(not literally nasa its a joke)
I made $120 a day back when I worked construction
i mean if you get a job in mechanics here is £600 a week
which is roughly £15 pound an hour,
I live in texas so $580 a week was enough for me to live on my own and rent a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house
theres no way i could get a house like that for that money here XD, living in one of the main transport hubs for london really makes the houses expensive.
higher population means higher cost of living
business owners buy houses here then get the train to london
real estate is the biggest business in the world I swear
anyway now i still have my old r9 380 and i havent bought a better one yet because the prices just hurt
is a 1080 worth getting
not imo
nvidia only btw js
well if you mean it like that, although Nvidia make the 1660ti, they dont have there own version, its only 3rd party stuff, like asus and msi
RX 580 is good value right now but would offer about 60% higher performance at a little lower power consumption
compared to r9 380
RX 580 is probably the best bang for your buck card on the market rn
well its probs like 500 for him XD
idk about argentina prices
my two last gpus were amd and the first one didnt last 2 years and this one has some weird problems i really dont want to know anything about amd for a long time
fair
the rx 580 is 292 usd here
i would either go with the 1660ti or the 2060 then
there's about a >5% chance of a graphics card being defective
imo thats still kinda high
^
like lets say you get a titan v and you pay silly money for a card, having a 5% chance of it being a bad one is really scary
my old GTX 470 died and took the motherboard with it
the way i see amd is, they are usually cheaper, a budget version, but also like comparing the crappy chinese replica to the original, and id rather buy the "original"
was big oof
nah AMD is the clear choice for anything below 2070 power levels
in the US at least
what's the Nvidia equivalent for the RX 580 btw?
none really atm
at least close? or between which?
but it used to be 1060
AMD has higher quality power phases/VRMs on their PCBs when comparing to an Nvidia card of the same value range
https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Most-Reliable-PC-Hardware-of-2018-1322/ failure rate in 2018 was ~1.11% during pretesting, with 0.5% of that being failure in a live system
for GPUs
For reference, GeForce was 1.24% and .62% for overall and field failure rates respectively, while Quadro was 1.16% and .39%.
wait livestreaming increases the chances for it to die?
does that include things like artifacts and damaged fans?
well it more just kills it, because of how intensive it can be
its almost certainly annual failure rate
thats why you used to have pc's marked as streamer pc
it will increase over several years
is the RX 580 better than the 1060ti?
historically AMD has had higher failure rates than nvidia, i have no idea about their newest gen
well if that existed then i guess so
RX 580 = GTX 1060
but R5/R7 had something ridiculous around 15% failure rate
oh
Vega 56 = GTX 1660 Ti
i thought the 580 was better than that
because the 1060ti is literally the same price as the RX 580 here
RX 580 is better than the 1060 on BFV by about 15%
Only if you run vega56 at stock
i dont know much about amd stuff
1660 Ti is a solid value though
why do you guys not recommend getting a high end gpu?
especially if you have an SFF PC
Avoid Gigabyte and Asus when going AMD
yeah ASUS AMD cards kinda suck
And 1660ti was also OCd whereas vega56 was at stock
MSI and XFX are solid
because you dont need them for normal gaming
when looking at gamersnexus chart
for AMD, I only choose Sapphire, highest quality AIB I know
because you dont need them for normal gaming```
But wont they last longer
anything above 2070 isnt necessary
I mean high end is worthwhile depending what you want out of gaming
+175 core OC, lel GL average consumer getting that from 1660ti
if you have higher res monitors, they're necessary for pretty settings
how is the 1660ti compared to the 2060?
not worth it in europe, might be different in NA
idc about graphics, so a 2070 is fine at my res
@fallen harbor RX 580 stomps the GTX 1060 in BFV
wanna see a comparison
Thanks for watching, not sure whats up with the graph on the 1060 as it doesn't happen in DX12 mode or with other GPU's I have tested. Out of the box perform...
but the Frostbite engine works well with AMD cards
@latent light given that vega56 is priced same as 1660 ti, is there any point in getting 1660 when vega56 can be a beast if you tweak it?
in some parts, it's ahead by 20 fps
if heat and power usage is not a concern
man the more i research about gpus the less convinced i am on what to buy
Vega 56 is my favorite card for tweaking
i just have no idea what the best option is
but 1660 Ti is more practical
also ando you asked if the high end cards would last longer.. well you could say that in some cases they have a shorter life span, because of more power, therefore more heat
depends how much you want to spend, what your fps/graphics expectations are, and what res you play at
1660 ti just seems silly, either get a cheap 1070(ti) used or a vega56 new
also ando you asked if the high end cards would last longer.. well you could say that in some cases they have a shorter life span, because of more power, therefore more heat
makes sense
avoid buying vega used
Anyone else had this problem about discord when it doesnt give a damn if you have startup option off and doesnt appear in msconfig or other programs?
buying a top end card for longevity is kinda stupid imo
unless you know it was an undervolted vega card used for mining
you're better off buying a 2070 and its successor than a 2080 Ti
I only buy used cards if I can meet the person in real life at their/my house and I get to see how it works
depends how much you want to spend, what your fps/graphics expectations are, and what res you play at
i dont care much about how much i must spend as long as it compromises the most years running games at 1080 and 60fps
ah, well in norway sellers are almost certainly trustworthy so its a good bargain to buy used
I only buy used things on FB marketplace or craigslist
and dead solid legally mandated RMA process
depends on what graphical fidelity you expect at 1080/60fps then
i dont think i would buy any pc part used
SSDs and CPUs aren't bad used
Im going to try to disable discord with registry editor now
same with fans
if you want to play games in 3 years at 1080p 60 fps, you might need a little more power than an RX 580 tbh
@supple bane I have had some awesome deals like a gtx 780 (when 9xx gen was out) for like 40% of 970 price new, also it had 1.5 year evga warranty, and like 3.5 years of legal warranty
well thats true, i was saying the main parts, cpu, psu, gpu, mobo
1660 Ti then
to me it sounds like the best options are either 1070ti or 1660ti? im not sure
no don't get 1070 ti
the 1070ti is very expensive for what it is
RTX 2060 is better value than 1070 ti
ic
the 1070 is still very expensive even tho the 1660 ti always out performs it
and the 1660ti is cheaper
1660 Ti is the best value in that performance tier
^
OH FUCK
I hope 6GB of vram will be relevant in 3+ years
discord doesnt appear in registry editor
YMMV, best value is vega56 in norway for example
how is this possible
new
i mean, im pretty sure cards new now could still run games in 3 years
there are some sites that sell the 2060 at the same price as the 1660ti here 🤔
because the optimisation and the engines are going to get better
VRAM isn't as huge of a concern as you'd think
oh it is
like only less than 5% more expensive
> because the optimisation and the engines are going to get better
lol
the 1060 3gb is trash compared to the 6gb version
you ever seen what frostbite code looks like?
well, there's diminishing returns with increasing VRAM in practical terms
3GB was too little even on release of the 1060
4 or 5 would have been better
4GB should be fine for awhile, especially at 1080p
there is a chinese version of the 1060 that has 5gb of vram
big VRAM is much more important at higher res
its a legit nvidia product, it was just sold in china
it was used in gaming cafes mainly
because they are still a thing over there
google benchmarks of 1660ti vs 2060
none of them get to steady 60fps on metro
is this normal
do they suck or is metro terribly optimized
metro is terribly optimized
all ultra
also max graphics is a shit meme
average fps are 52 and 43
Metro Exodus is the game that's supposed to push the next wave of high detailed graphics
it does look good, i have to give them that
you can get visual settings that look very close to max but with way better performance by turning a ton of things down
yeah i know but still
not to mention a lot of visual settings make games even less fun to play
from what i have seen metro isnt a game where you need 60 fps
i know but we are talking about new gpus,i didnt expect them to struggle to get 60 just yet
idk <60 fps looks pretty gross if you're flicking across the screen fast
preferences
i cant tell the difference in fps if its over like 40
so it doesnt affect me
tearing all over the place
how do you live
i wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a game at 40 fps and a game at 144
i skreech autistically when the rate drops to 59
my BFV settings make the game look like shit, but at least i can see things and i get stable 100 fps
i reach average 90 on mid settings 1080p
im not even kidding whenever i see something fucked i look at the counter and it says like 58
it annoys me that much
I get 80 fps average with my RX 580 on BFV with everything on ultra
medium does like 110ish fps
I couldn't play BFV at 1080p
there's so many shitty visual effects, you kinda need higher res to pick people out
I play all low on everything, except post processing
for some reason even tho i get like 50 fps when i play on ultra i get some weird screen freeze thats short but very common, like micro freezing, but i watch my counter and its not fps drops, the counter doesnt even move
custom cfg on top of that
yeah I want a 4K monitor so I can play war thunder and snipe tanks from over 2 km away

24" 4K 🤤🤤🤤
so the tanks that look like 5 pixels will become 20 pixels in 4K
or the 5K LG monitors they have at Apple stores 🤤
dude LG makes a 21.5" 4K
27" 1440p looks similar to 24" 1080p lol
i could get a 24" 4k for £150 over here
yes its 60 htz
but still
for the price
I'm gonna replace both of my 24" 1080p monitors with a 1440p ultrawide someday
or 4K ultrawide when they come out
27" 1440p is 108 ppi
24" 1080 is 92 ppi
I have 3440x1440 35"
and it's amazing
for productivity and gaming
you can have things side by side just like you can with multiple monitors
but no bezel in the middle
24" is perfect for me
how much is the 2070

@fallen harbor 500+ usd for dogshit non OC version, 600+ usd for OC version
it wraps around your eyeball and makes things look more accurate
the response time on that monitor is 9.5 ms, isnt that like really long ?
is the 2070 worth getting
depends
I got a OC version of the 2070 for $500 flat
they binned dies according to OC and wanted extra 100$ for good ones
if i want to get an 2060, should i stop and get a 2070 instead?
worth it if you play on higher res for sure
I mean that's how diminishing returns work
and the 2080 Ti costs 2x as much as the 2070
2060 will already blow your R9 380 out of the water
funnily enough 1080 ti was best bang of buck when available, still is if you find a deal for it used
a 1080ti is way too much, even if used imo
in the US, you might as well get a 20XX over a 1080 Ti
tbh GTX 1060 for $250 in 2016 was the best bang for buck
then the mining nation attacked
nah, AMD was still better at that price point

if you could get them
RX 580 > GTX 1060
rx 580 deals ive seen for 200 bucks with 2 free games is a hell of a deal atm
only advantage to the GTX 1060 is Ansel and lower power consumption
I buy most of my more expensive hardware in store from micro center for muh deals
and i guess I avoided buying hardware during the whole mining debacle
hope something like that never happens again to the market
mining was great
inb4 Nvidia or AMD launches a new architecture that benefits mining better than ASICs

crypto isn't dead, can't wait until the next mining debacle
tbh ASICs were better than GPUs from the start
now i have looked into the 4 of the k i really want a 4k monitor XDD
I'm used to 60hz so I would like a 4K monitor anyway
i mean i would say that i would scrap my idea of getting a 1660ti and get a 4k screen, but i would have to get the 1660ti to play the game in 4k any way
I almost bought a 1080p 75hz freesync monitor for $99 a few months ago
didn't think 75hz would be noticeable
i really dont think a 1060 3gb would run 4k XD
depends on what you're playing
true
and what your graphical expectations are
like AA is unnecessary at higher res
too bad BFV forces it on you
well the only game i would have 4k on bfv
and i would probs have it mid settings
or maybe high
BFV at anything above low is painful for me
I played on a Acer Predator X34 which is ultrawide 1440p, played without AA and it looked pixelated as 1080p
I play without AA for performance/visibility reasons
my current monitor is only 1080 but has some other cool things, like the 1ms response time and 75 htz
and idt AA even makes BF look better
and for it only being £150 it isnt too bad
1ms is a bit of a meme, you can't distinguish between 1 and 5ms anyways
like you're a freak if you have a <120ms reaction time for visuals
the 1ms monitors are never 1ms in any case
thats a theoretical grey to grey transition
and yes, 9ms would be too high for flawless 144hz gaming
not to speak about 240hz
well its not 144... its 60
and i dont want it flawless, im just an average guy
as long as it feels instant, idc
issue is more blur if you have input lag
i just got 16 gb of ram as well

i should have waited
I bought 32GB for $200 AUS before the hike in price, and now they're finally dropping it from $400 for another 32
Maybe soon I'll be able to fill my slots for 64
I've bought 32GB like 6 months ago
Did upgrade from 16
Needed a new motherboard and was like: Yeah i'm going to fill up all the slots this time with 8GB each.
I've the gskill trident z, pretty much bought them because it's RGB.
inb4 if you buy anything other than the cheapest ram possible for the speed you want you are stupid /s
did anyone actually manage to get a Vega 64 before they sold out EVERYWHERE
ugh
i have 32GB ram as well but lets be honest you really dont utilize even 16GB running BFV or something with photoshop with 3ds max open ffs lol
its just nice to have
like having a Porsche or something any living in a city with 40 speed limits. lol... pointless
I don't think I would agree with that point--I have 16Gb and use it in games or production applications. 3DS, PS, AP, R6S, CS, etc. eats it right up.
is it just me or is the stuttering worse after the last2 updates?
Why does 1440p no AA use shitload more power than 1080p with 8X AA if there is no CPU bottleneck and gpu load hits 99-100%?
the VRAM load was within ~500mb of each other
~100MB of each other even
id argue it was identical
3.7 million pixels vs 2.1 million
which should show up as increased memory load
which it didnt in this case
core load as shown by afterburner was identical
by that i mean capped at 99%
did you look at the vram utilization?
Yes I have a chart showing it, thats why I said within ~100mb of each other
Valley bench that never peaked 2000 mb
benchmarks only? no games?
I am establishing stable clocks at max load, hence synthetic benchmarks are good at showing clock drops
apex/bfv loads my gpu less
For an example: 1080p ultra, 8x AA = stable at 1.093v 2173 core clock. 1440p Ultra, No AA requires 1.030v 2126 core clock to be stable without clock dips. Peak TDM was 108% and 110% despite huge difference in voltage.
due to hitting power limit
Temps: 1080p: 45c, 1440p: 37c
@fossil dune yea its worse for sure i get menu lags and loading in lags mostly
yeah thats mostly consistent for me but i do get the very odd stutter atleast once or twice in game during gun fights which wasn't present before @upbeat crypt
I had to configurate my graphics card for it to run well, and now it runs perfectly
Couldn't even start up a match of Ravenfield now I can do it no problem and with more bots
Ravenfield LOL
literally inspired by BF and Raven Shield (Rainbow Six 3)
its funny
reminds me kinda of Battlefield Heroes
haha
Ravenfield is a fun game though
Especially with the mods and shit
There's one mod that adds a fuckton of modern weapons that kinda makes me want a modern battlefield for once even though I only enjoyed one and that was Battlefield 2.
One of the weapons is that uhh... Grenade Launcher with a Revolver Cylinder thing, I don't know the exact terminology atm. But you can either have like LVG rounds, AP or Buckshot, making it a powerful long ranged shotgun
guys can i use just a dumb generic cheap PSU to complete a pc with my remains which include a i7 3770? (no gpu)
like, not for gaming or anything
or the fact of it being an i7 3770 requires a decent psu still even if i dont use it for gaming?
3770 alone in a system without a GPU, get a 400W
guess ill put my old 600w on it then
the new one? it's an XT 600w
any brand psu is compatible with any brand cpu/gpu/motherboard
what you want is quality though
which usually comes from Corsair, SeaSonic and some EVGA ones
the components inside
XFX basically rebrands SeaSonic psus
so I guess they are good enough
@molten bramble I'm helping my friend choose pc parts and he got a Corsair RM750X white full-mod, comes with white cables included
it's really nice looking
even comes with combs for the cables
Oh cool. I'm not a fan of white, but that looks legit. I have the RM850x and it's probably one of the best PSUs I've had in a long time.
yeah RM series is good
does recording often also potentially shorten the lifespan of a gpu?
like, as much as livestreaming?
@latent light those cables look good
Should be just right for some R6S. 😄
god damn
Download would be better if there wasn't a show streaming in the next room of course. Really digging the new speeds though.
what did you have before
little over 300/300
lol
I didn't know our ONTs were already to go for gigabit, so I'd been waiting for FiOS to give me a heads up.
Oh, and apparently that ONT I had was the culprit with the disconnects, so that got swapped out last week.
However, having to re-DL R6S since the system reset, and the new speeds here don't seem to mean shit to UPlay's dankass 86 MB/s connectivity... 🙄
Guess this means I'll has to reset the keymap to my preferences as well, unless it saved them for me during the reset. We shall see.
Need to find me an m.2 Samsung 500Gb for a good price and swap that in soon.
your motherboard has a M.2 heatsink
may not be effective
idk
some of them have poor surface area for dissipation
usually aftermarket ones are the best
Yeah, more concerned about finding the device first though.
@steep gust PowerColor Vega 56 going for $320

here's the actual sale
aaaaaaand it's gone

reviews says it has samsung HBM

ok i guess it does
but I thought only SK Hynix could make HBM
How do you get lower Temps
I know its a dumb question
But my BFV goes all the way to 80-89 degrees when playing
underclock your GPU
That...sounds like bad advice
@latent light that PSU looks sick af, I've got a HX850 with blue cables and it's so much nicer 😃
What do you have
GTX 1080 from MSI
White and black
Ah is it the neat looking one
Has the ribs and shit if thats what youre reffering to
Yeah
Nice looking design
Idk how it could be reaching those temperatures though
Does case have good airflow?
I try and keep the fucker as cold as possible
1x Top blows out, 1x Back blows in, 2x front blow in for the Radiator
Hav e H100i CPU cooler
Is there a way of checking if the Case fans are operating at 100% speed
Case fans usually set themself to a reasonable speed based on temperatures
Shit
Did you buy your card new and have you ever taken it apart
New yeah
Its 2 years old
Actually no
Its bordering on 4 years old
May need to start saving for 2180 😛
take off the shroud, ziptie 2x 120mm fans to your GPU
the ugliest thing you could ever have seen but it works like a charm
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-NBnDmayjZA/hqdefault.jpg
i have one of these with 2x 120mm Noctuas
it's frosty
my cooling is the opposite of frosty
Re-apply thermal paste if it is 4+ years old
it's easy follow yt video @prime jasper
I guess you can get that as a service from somewhere
I mean the PC shops do maintenance and that should be a regular maintenance job
just like dusting the system too, make sure you do that as well
but ye, its only a few screws and the chances of you breaking something are basically non
if its 4years and running
you are probs more likely to die from a card board box than break something changing the paste
Oh
While Im here
Whats a good way of de-dusting your PC
All I used todo was buy those Air Cans
But them shits barely get my PC clean
Sounds about right. The fucking game would crash when I'm top score entire game with a very nice k/d on top of it and the match is about to end. Right on.

What the fuck does this mean.
if the dust has settled in with any moisture, it sticks quite bad, so you should try to de-dust the machine at least once a year, otherwise, undo the entire system and wipe surfaces with rubbing alcohol where ever there is sticky dust
not you, @prime jasper
crash dump is quite meaningless :D google it
Hi, why does Battlefield 4 take so long to load maps on PC? I timed it and it took almost 5 minutes to load a match. I have a good build too.
Battlefield 4?
Yes, Battlefield 4.
That doesn't sound right. I have a HDD and don't load that much
Could be some windows erroring
It happened with my old PC and now my new PC. All different parts too.
Do you have the game on a HDD?
I had the same problem when the game was on my HDD 4/5 min loading times.
Now got it on a SSD and it takes me around 20/30 seconds
Does someone have an idea why bfv switches to windowed mode all the time? I've to switch it back everytime I join a game
I googled possible fixes for my graphics card just crashing... I keep getting "lol yeah fuck AMD" as results
"I found a impractical fix. I bought a GTX 1050 and will sell the RX 550, I try with all drivers (17.4.4 to 17.12.2 and AORUS GIGABYTE disk), I'll never buy AMD cards again."
and a large forum post with many replies going "I am going to never buy an AMD card again."
Thankfully, I got it all to work, no crashing or anything.
Pretty sad people blame a company after receiving a faulty product
They never blame the AIB partner that puts the graphics card together and tests it
It's never AMD and Nvidia's fault that a GPU comes defective
A little fire is able to burn down giant fields of crops. I think after the trailer much features were missing at launch. And many bugfixes after launch feels like being a beta tester. So its easier to blame the same company if something went wrong. Never the less I love the gameplay of bfv. It feels very smooth to play.
@odd goblet what amd card did you have...
I bought a evga geforce 2070 and had nothing but issues out of the box and went back to amd
Guys I installed my SSD and two HDDs and I have a question
my plan is to use one HDD for storing the games and the other to store everything else, and the SSD to run the OS and some heavy games possibly
but my question is, where should I install the clients? such as Steam, Origin, Battle.net, etc
right...
in the SSD? or in the HDD where I store the games?
Because all it will do is load up faster if you put it on the ssd so you may as well keep that space for ya games
np
I can't seem to be able to install Origin anywhere outside the SSD though
do you know anything about that?
The only thing I can think is your hdd is full but I highly doubt that XD
Because I have origin on hdd
Try install it on your hdd then move the file over to your hdd
I think that should work
dont quote me on that tho because I don’t know how the program would react, but it should work just fine
i tried that but i cant move some files
and i cant launch origin in the hdd without those files
some web origin stuff
I love how only BFV locks up and causes BSOD when no other games do. Like wtf? Ran MemTest86 for 3 hours found no errors. Its definetly a problem with the game. More so since the last patch. Suddenly I get stutter lag etc in the UI at end of round screen like when its calculating the xp score for example. Never used to...
have you had any hardware changes
No
Its only since the latest BFV update
No windows changes no driver changes or hardware changes. Computer is also clean dust free and liquid cooled cpu as well. I monitor temps with Speccy as well
Ive talked to a few people in game who noticed stuttering and lag suddenly too
:(
At a loss for ideas
have you tested stable in prime95? @upbeat crypt
It even does it sometimes seconds after i start the program at the main menu lol
Prime95, no. I havent ran that.
very useful tool for seeing if you have any issues with stability under heavy loads
But it runs BF1 fine on ultra for hours
Not that different from BFV
And wildlands and many other games
eh who knows really. bad patch maybe. but I dont have many issues as long as I keep my gfx drivers up to ddate
Guesss ill just have to wait for the next patch and hope for the best
I might even run the game on a clean install of windows and see
is it ok to have the fan at 45% with 37º on a r9 380 when idle?
or is 45% too much for idle?
thing is if i drop it to like 30% it increases to almost 50º
You decide
guys I could use your input, Is it just me or does newest Nvidia driver kill fps on this game. I use to get 100+ on 1440p on a 2080 ti now im getting 85..
Hey guys I've created a discord server and well I decided that having a role assigning system similar to this server where clicking on a reaction gives you a role would be quite easy and awesome the only problem is I don't know how to do that... So any ideas ?? Or maybe a video explaining how to do it?? It would really help me
it's not the nvidia drivers,it's a windows update
You decide```
i want to know the risks of anything before deciding, ofc i decide, but i am asking to know what the consequences of whatever decision i take are
@lethal copper
@fallen harbor Think of it this way, every recent GPU doesn't even turn the fans on until 55-60C
I leave my fans at idle were I can't hear them
It might die in 30 years instead of 45
if i leave the fans off it will go to like 65 in idle
but the difference in lifespan is negligible
obviously don't force the fans off, just have your curve set to 0 until like 55C
hmm okay
will the fans affect the lifespan of the gpu itself or are them a separate thing?
like
The fan bearings might go bad given enough time
but like they are rated for thousands of hours
say i set the fans to 100% for some dumb reason till it dies. what dies is the fans or the entire gpu?
if you got a cheaply made graphics card from an AIB partner that you never heard of, the fans would probably wear out running at 100% all the time
even my STRIX card would wear out at 100%
the fans for my gigabyte RX 580 get ridiculously loud at 80% and up
at 100%, I can hear them clearly through headphones when playing a game

100% fan speed is pointless on my RX 580 though because 60% is enough to keep it below 75C at all times
RX 580s don't get as hot as people claim
so i guess its better setting the fans at 40% on idle for the gpu to be at 35c instead of 50c with the fans at 0%?
I guess but it won't benefit anything tbh
isnt it better for the gpu lifespan?
The difference in lifespan will be after the card is literally worthless
idk maybe its just me but 50c on idle scares me
yeah lol
50c is fine imo
I don't imagine you'll be using that R9 380 in 2025
fan stop technology is pretty cool
the fans on my card turn on at 50C
my fans are one when ever i have my pc on, but they sit at about 10-20% then once it reaches about 60 they go all the way up to 100% because that normally means im playing games and i would want it all the way up there
hotbox?
shitty case with no airflow that causes the GPU to choke itself on its own hot air
I love that Cinebench R20 literally makes the results in a .txt file that allows me to put whatever bullshit I want
I can't wait for twitter to discover this and a bunch of 'leaks' to show up
Anyone else with android pie on their phone?
For some reason after upgrading to android pie my battery is draining so much faster
Samsung galaxy note 8
Anyone else with this issue?
@steep gust LOL
that is funny though
but yeah sucks ass now people will try to use cinebench as a "leak"
that picture is dumb as hell too "AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight-Core processor"
even though says 12C/24T

yeah that was my fault
I was just copying the one below it
and i made up some number
A 9980XE without HT and overclocked mildly does 8500 points or so
Should have made that the top of the line one
do you guys know if there are some nice themes for w10?
like custom themes you can download or smthn
like for steam but for w10
wallpaper engine
kk thnx
thank you for posting this tip, I will now farm my free karma on /r/amd
What's better, two 12V rails with less amperage combined or one 12V rail with big amperage
PCIe power supply cable question?
idk some dude in another discord melted a pcie cable lmao
On my previous card I used 2x pcie power cables because i had the luxury to do so
but i guess it should be fine unless your cable is shit
so guys basically my cpu overheated so I Installed a new Intagrated cooling system and basically ive had no HDMI signal... I've cleaned my ram took my battery out and but it back it, switched my graphics card from one spot to another, hard reset everything, tried a different cable and my Intagrated graphics. Also I checked to make sure. E v e r y t h i n g was pluged in right along with watching every fix youtube had to offer and I'm basically done, in going to geek squad. In not kidding try and name a fix and I bet you 10010% ive tried it at least five times
I'm positive I fried my 1080ti
My cpu was at 89°c btw id anyone wants to know
Oooo wee I was playing some Metro Exodus and that som bitch GTX 1080 was going all the way to 91 degrees Celsius
That was some goooooood shit
CPU was sitting at a cozy 56 degrees
Ty H100i, very cool
Cant say the same for my poor old GTX 1080 though
It meant like I shocked it with my hands in the process of installing it
thats fairly hard to do
Eh not really, there is no other logical explanation for it and its not that hard, if one hand isnt on a separate piece of metal to discharge static than you will probobally get something fried
I suppose if you touched the wrong place on the card
if I were you I would go to my local PC shop and ask them for an opinion
Or the board, if any static electricity comes it to contact with it that a bad, and yea I'm not sure if you read the first comment but I'm going to geek squad. Hopefully its okay
Alright its 12:45am I'm going to bed gn
3 years ago I had this memory leak, was very frustrating, play any game and after 10 minutes it would crash to windows .. typical me I spent hours and hours trying to fix it myself, all kinds of things .. eventually took it to my local PC shop, 2 hours later was told it was because there was a micro crack in the mobo next to the ram slot, had to replace the mobo. absolutely the last thing I would have guessed
@molten coral
A Restart will fix it, otherwise downloda the app Samsung Members and contact them.
I had the S9+ didnt had the issue tho, i've now got the S10+ and no probs, so PIE wont drain your battery faster, it might be just a app that you've installed recently, tried reinstalling your phone?
Greetings
Armando
if it worked, tag me and let me know, if it didn't try contact samsung.
Riot
Riot!¡!
Tech has a lot of riots
this is the where the nerds live, your looking for the chat where people actually have a soul
*?
looks like its time to retire it into a nice coaster, no better time for a new one
i keep wanting to get a bigger SSD but prices keep dropping pretty fast so ill just wait
the damn neverending waiting game lol
I'm waiting on ryzen 3rd gen, ram prices, and ssd prices
Just Wait™
are CPUs going to be stuck at the sub 5GHz barrier forever? I know you can overclock many CPUs over 5 GHz but it looks like we aren't going to achieve 6 GHz any time soon for daily use
probably not forever but we are starting to reach the physical limits of Moore's law and the limitations of silicone at that
TSMC is already constructing fabs to start 5nm production
any thing under 3nm isn't even known to be possible or not
well sure fabs are one thing, but the yields are a completely different animal
Tom's Hardware recommended a GTX 1050 3GB over a fucking RX 570 4GB as the best budget GPU
fyi, RX 570 is 40% faster and even cheaper
jesus fuck the bias lmao
is it updated?
I don't think they updated it
is the 1050 ti better than an rx 570
the 570 is way better then the 1050 ti
tbh the 1050 ti is dog shite
in context it costs wayyy too much for what it is
1050ti = 770 from 5years ago
and you can normally find a 570 for slightly cheaper and it will still out perform the 1050 ti
^
Idk why people have been buying 1050 Ti this whole time
RX 570 has always been equal/cheaper than it and performing higher
@latent light There are some electrical issues with just increasing the clock speeds
and clock speed =/= performance
we will stay at 5 GHz forever?
my friend has an i7-5820K and he wonders if it has quad channel
he's got 32GB but it's only showing up 16GB in bios
yeah but it won't make that much of a difference
his BIOS shows 32GB now
but windows doesn't
he says he has to disable XMP in order to use quad channel

idk Haswell-E so 🤷
Maybe have him put the XMP timings it on himself?
I mean the primary timings are right at the top
It goes tCL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS
but tRCD / tRP are linked on Intel so its like tRCDWRP or something like that
> owning a mobo with more than 2 RAM slots
I have mini atx
it’s literally mini itx just not as cool
it has 2 ram slots and yet is bigger
you mean micro atx?
i wanted to do a micro build but ended up doing a built in pc to my front room tv stand
ooh
slides out on drawer guides
I did want to get a desk that has the whole pc stuffs in and then I saw the price
make your own
Like having to take everything off my desk every time I wanted to do something would suck ass
I saw someone make a build and they had rgb cpu cooler and rgb ram and that was it And it looked dumb, it just looked so lost in the huge black empty table
I have a red fan....
and that’s it XD
I also have some ikea lights on my desk that work surprisingly well when put in the right spots
i want to get white leds, because atm i have orange, but the rest of my build is orange, so its washed out
mATX cases are too big :/
except for the Cerberus
i'd only go ATX to use the Cerberus X
such a top tier case
with its own issues
Should I get Thermaltake Core P3, Fractal Design Meshify C, NZXT H500, or Lian-Li PC-011
i always recommend meshify c, and h500
or phanteks p400
a lot of people get the meshify c
The Meshify C looks super good, i've the corsair air 540 at the moment and I love it but on the otherside it's pretty big.
I have a Meshify C
Plan to switch to a Define S2 / Meshify S2 (if they make a gunmetal)
if you do a custom loop yes
Would love to do a custom loop but i'm just too afraid that it will leak
I want a white meshify C
I got one
$80
not bad
wish the interior was white too
although, not hard to spray paint
I'm glad its not white on the inside

Although I hate the plastic front panel
white makes it easier to see stuff since white reflects light
yeah
360mm up top
360 / 280mm up front depending on if I want to remove part of the psu shroud
room for a decent size reservoir to the right side of the motherboard
this is what I want

Fractal Design is so based
I had the R4
such a good ATX case
http://www.sliger.com/products/cases/cerberus_x/
this is the only ATX case i'd ever want though
that's nice for a case without a window
Gonna buy the parts for a ryzen mini home server this payday, I'm keen af
I've always been looking for an excuse to build a home server
but I don't own enough digital media to justify it
or I just don't have a need for one ig
I have like 2 TB of movies etc for Plex and plan on running game servers off it
you live in AU, right?
I guess I'd hoard digital media if I did too, makes a lot of sense if internet speeds aren't great
Plex is woke
Ye
Plus I don't want to pay for all 50 different streaming services
Happy with just Netflix and Plex
I just torrent everything i can't get off Netflix and Amazon Prime
bc student discount for the latter
I know the previous define S was simply an inferior R6 - marketed for cooling rather than silence
but flagship R6 could do all of it if you so desired
Yeah but it looks better
I rather like the phanteks p600s https://imgur.com/a/Wl2RH23
lots of space for cable management, space, and most importantly
has 2 covers for top and front if you want silence
with foam
near the fan?
gives more room to work with bottom fan + it supports 3x 140mm front so kinda needed
ah the vanity hole
Whole point of a psu shroud is to not see the psu
I dont want to see some dumb label with the atx specs
i always saw it as a way to hide cables
tbh i would remove psu shroud if i could
but its permanently attached with..
forgot the name for it
BUT IT HINDERS COOLING TO NON AIO GPUS
Not really
AND PREVENTS A FAN BEING USED FROM BOTTOM
You can buy cases with a perforated shroud
And fan mounts
i.e the define S2 supports 2x140mm in the psu shroud
I wonder when we will get cases with holes for vertical GPUs
Hopefully not
or even possibly a hole open for fans to stick out
Vertical GPU looks meh normally
The fans on a GPU are intake so as long as you have decent airflow around your mobo socket it's not getting impacted
https://www.komplett.no/img/p/1200/2823bba9-56e2-4f3d-93b3-d91cefa7fc9b.jpg another big plus with p600s is how clean it looks outside
admittedly less so if you either drop down or remove front cover
its still almost certainly 2-3 degrees higher than outside the case, especially if you use AIO radiator as intake front
What you think about builds that are rotated 90 degrees
Haven't seen any that impress me
card rotated downwards and fans pulling air from bottom to top?
per todays date the case with best airflow is based on that design
silverstone something
Cases with more exhaust fans than intake fans tend to collect more dust inside right?
Yes
Negative pressure
Also cases use conviction dont really see any gains
Hot air rises is very easy beat by fans
as of 2019 the best case ever made in terms of airflow is rv02
it still beats out every other case on the market
absolute cancer to work with, ugly, and usb 2.0 something
and kiss water cooling goodbye
Also loses to a test bench with case fans laying on the mobo

Or a server rack with a like 6000rpm 80mm fan
they make an RV02E with USB 3.0
but still ugly as shit
https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/abdoil/uniq1_112l_miniitx_uniquely_aircooled_truely/
this is still one of the most based designs I've ever seen
imagine not using a full size CPU air cooler on your GPU
guy was getting 50C under load with a 2080 Ti in his prototypes
they showcased an updated rv02 thats a bit larger on CES this year
so hopefully will be launched soon
https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/a791qj/custom_air_silent_pc_11l_performance_gaming_pc/
one of his prototypes used a Noctua NH-D15 on the GPU with a 120mm CLC sandwiched in between for 40C on CPU and GPU
at under 10L volume for the build
8.5in tall
Uh
but that's with a 1080
A D15 on a GPU will bend the shit out of your PCB
not in his configuration
Also it requires a modded mounting bracket
all you need is a backplate + gpu anti sacket mount
uh
look at the link and see how compact it all is
Do you realize a D15 is pretty heavy
And you cant use a backplate due to the mounting hardware on a D15
980g or something
And the cost to performance there is ass
he's not having the video card bear the weight of the CPU cooler
Two D15s are not cheap
well SFF in general isn't optimal for cost/perf
but I'd say the results he got, given the hardware and volume achieved, are fairly cost efficient
didnt he literally build a custom box for that d15 though?
yeah, the GPU and its cooler are mounted to the frame so that the card doesn't have to bear the weight of the cooler
since the last patch, for some reason... i get like 35 FPS when in the menu, over 200 fps in a loading screen. is this normal or what? lol
What fov does everyone run? I have a 40 4k tv at 74 degrees, switched recently from 4k to 2k. Also thinking of going to 32 2k 144hz. Any suggestions?
windows 10 forcing an update on me even though I have windows update disabled
@lavish dagger 2K is 1080p
2.5K is 1440p
Whatever 2560x1440 is
32" 1440p won't have good pixel density, pixels will be highly noticeable unless you are like 4+ feet away from the screen lol
Im running 1440 on 40" scaled to 4k right now
Says 1.7ft to 4.5ft viewing distance with 3.2ft rec
I probably sit almost 3ft away
so do it? lol
I mean it is free
https://www.protondb.com/ will help in determining if a steam game is playable on linux
^
they finally fixed that stupid update that borked gaming on windows
after windows forced an update on me, I'm getting a random audio pop every 30 seconds
why can't we disable windows updates, when you go to serverices then disable windows update, they still work
even did this
Why did they have to make another windows, what was wrong with windows 7?
should I use Linux Mint or Ubuntu @steep gust
Because windows 7 is really not a modern operating system
my brother said Mint is easier to navigate
I kind of prefer windows 7 over 10 though since windows updates consistently are breaking video drivers
What video drivers broke? I never had that happen
when you can buy legit keys for 5 euros in europe
they clearly needed to monetize OS somehow
if you hate dealing with windows updates youll have to use LTSC instead
@latent light going to try this monitor for $300 https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32GK650F-B-gaming-monitor
You can block windows updates at the router
there was a new LTSC update few months ago
