I mean most people don't really understand PSUs, and that the pinout on the PSU itself is not standardized
The connector for the motherboard is standardized
But for some reason ATX spec doesn't have anything on PSU pinouts 🤷
yeah, PC building as a hobby is kinda set back by a lack of good standards
Has better standards than a lot of other hobbies
ATX + JEDEC + PCIE are very useful for most people
or imagine that your Asus motherboard would only fit in an Asus case, using an Asus GPU, running Asus RAM
Using an Asus PSU or it all dies
Heh, that's how it was in the '80s into the '90s where some folks were trying to grow their own markets on their own hardware.
heh custom water cooling was great before standards
Random threading, random fitting sizes, random pumps
G1/4 wasn't a thing
never got into custom loops, cost/benefit is awful
but I love looking at custom loop builds
they're pretty, but I don't personally care to build one myself
eh long term they aren't bad
maybe one day idk
Since once you get the parts once, they work forever
especially with modern parts that don't OC as high
ask pow how water loops are
uh that is because hardware is pushed a lot harder out of the box
I plan to do that on this build at some point, but I want to get the cable management perfected first. Looking for some low-key matte weave that I can enshroud it all in and tie off.
https://www.techflex.com/general-purpose/flexo-tight-weave did I hear weave
Techflex is the proud manufacturer of Flexo® Tight Weave 0.50 Black PTT0.50BK and many other great braided sleeving products. See them all at Techflex.com!
Nice, thanks for that, I'll take a look.
yeah, binning is a bit better nowadays at the high end
I might do a custom loop with something like that
That's exactly what I am looking for.
Since sleeved tubing is nice
and the perf delta between a top air cooler/CLC and a custom loop isn't incredible
Yes it is
but i love to see a nice custom loop SFF build
it's a decent performance margin, not worth the money imo
If you get a decent amount of radiators you can easily run a GPU nearly ambient
and GPU Boost means scaling
You're going to sleeve the water cooling tubing? With some lighting or?
CPUs don't scale at ambient temps, but 🤷
and since I'm huge on SFF, custom loops aren't necessarily even much of a performance benefit with some cases
never going back to a big boi case
I haven't seen a build like that, but I would be intrigued in seeing how it'd look.
my builds going smaller from here
Also its not very expensive so if I don't like the look, I can just go back to soft tubing
$1-2 a foot
Oh and I hate noise, so a custom loop would mean I don't have to hear my GPU fans ever again
40mm fans can only be so quiet
I saw a guy that did something really unique--he planned out his looping, and then had glass blown in the path he'd laid out. Had some weird fittings on the end, but it all seemed to work fine. I am not entirely sure why he did it, but the glass tubing was thick. I have another friend that is a plumber and used copper tubing, looked steampunk like.
Glass tubing is functionality like acrylic but a blowtorch instead of a heatgun
I don't think I would feel comfortable using copper, seems like a electrocution hazard.
hardline tubing is so pretty

this guy manages 2x 240mm rads in the same case I have
dude either has tiny hands or way more patience than me
Jeez
https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/a67zvr/i_love_big_heatsinks_and_i_cannot_lie/?st=JSXZMXS8&sh=3eb7b9d2
people usually just go big air cooler in these cases though
yeah I think that's when I'll upgrade from my 6700K
I could use a bit more multithreaded performance
yeah 4000 series for Zen
but there's some tasks I do where 8 threads don't really cut it
especially with VMs
if 3000 series is remarkable I'll probably get it
I'm torn between waiting for the 3000 series, or getting a 2700x for 260...
if 3000 series has improved cache latency then it's worth the wait
also improvement to DRAM cycle latency
Think there will be new boards for the 3k series?
yes
probably won't be too different than X470 but X570 will have PCI 4.0
and maybe better memory support
hi
true
so im looking to get a 600W psu, i know you would need a semi modular or full modular, but i dont know which brand i would choose, could someone help me out?
Corsair and EVGA have been good to me
Since almost 15 years Be quiet, my recent evga hardware wasnt as good as i expected it to be
My corsair has been going strong for years now
I'd also recommend just going fully modular- your cable management will thank you
@unkempt mirage get modular all the way. Evga and Corsair I trust, so do one of em
And by that I mean full modular
And don't cheap out on the power supply
Get a good one
Case makers cheap out on weirdest ways, 150 usd bunch of features
But doesnt include female to female 4pin cable for fan hub
Connector is there, manual asks you to plug it to mobo
But no cable
Old corsair psus were good now you have to google each model to know if its gonna live past warranty
which nvidea driver is more preferred for gtx 10 series ?
@abstract shore this isnt where you would post that, try

@pulsar pilot does full modular cost more? I like dumped all my money on my new pc and a few games and i dont even think i have 2 bucks, i still need to get a better monitor cos rn im using a 21.5 inch tv
@unkempt mirage theres so many sales that its a base by base basis, honestly the difference between modular and semi modular are meaningless. semi modular has the cables you absolutely need hard wired, fully modular isnt, everything else is the same
so unless you plan on doing cable swaps, theres no benefit to modular over semi
for models of PSU i always look at this tier list
if i had to say X brand is generally good, i would only put seasonic on that list
Alright thanks
Im also looking to make videos with my pc so i would want something relatively quiet
brands like corsair and evga get their parts from separate manufacturers, and vary quality, so youll really have to start looking at them as a model by model basis
PSU imo will easily be the quietest moving component in your pc
GPU/CPU/ case fans will be way louder
idk what i should do with my old parts
Sell em
Get some money back and use that money as a investment for ur newer tech, but it depends on how ild it is
@wispy wing I dont see why you wouldnt use the latest one available
looking at pc part picker, the psu i would go for is seasonic focus gold 650W https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WrNypg/seasonic-focus-plus-gold-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-650fx
who would buy an i7 3770 on a mobo with 8gb ram ddr3 all from 2013?
I guess that depends on price and what you plan to do with it lol
better gift it to my grandparents
i guess
they have a ridiculously bad pc and it hurts me
sure if the price is right. although you can get old business machines around those specs for stupid cheap online
who would buy
yooo felllass look at this shit http://eaassets-a.akamaihd.net/battlelog/tutorial/gamemodes/BFV_SPARTA_Tutorials_FIRESTORM_ENG_WW_v2.webm
3770 would be a good budget pc cpu
is it possible to find a compatible mobo for it nowadays
if i could find an average size mobo for it that is also ddr4 it would save me a good bunch of money
3770 doesnt work with ddr4
a bit overkill for your grandparents lol
also that
the 3770 would be for my grandparents
oh I see
8400 for me
i want to upgrade and idk what to do with the 3770
ah, yeah might as well put it to use
i am basically getting an entire new pc tbh
i5 8400, b360, not sure how much ram but not less than 16
very few games scale well with more than 16gb of ram, so id just go with 16
will keep using my r9 380 till it dies or gets old enough and i buy a 2060 i guess? or whatever will be worth it by then
just be aware b360 is terrible for overcloking
8400 is a locked cpu
ive never overclocked before, am i missing a lot
8400 comes with a cooler
afaik its only top of the line CPUs that dont come with a cooler
stock cooler will work fine, but something like hyper 212 evo which goes for around 20-25 commonly is a good purchase
whats that : D
the mounting plate for different cpus isnt always the same
should i really get an overclockeable cpu if i use it for gaming
why did you specify its not overclockeable then
didnt know if you planned to
because killa said the b360 is bad at OC
which you dont have a cpu that OC's anyway
i guess the 8400 will last enough?
although if you have a budget in mind theres possible a deal to be found in your price range
for intel, generally only cpus with K at the end will OC
i think the 8400 will last a while
hell, im using a 4790 (non k) for 1440p gaming and its still doing good
i am more than satisfied with 1080
and 60fps
so i thought the 8400 would last a good buch of time for me
if thats all youre doing, 8400 will definitely deliver
and the gpu idk
hell, at that point i might even recommend ryzen 2600
if my current gpu broke idk what i sjould get
rx 580 with the deals ive seen and 1080p 60fps gaming
whats your budget ando?
from what i understand the best options are 1070 or 2060
1070 are overpriced mostly due to low supply
2060 outperforms it slightly too
for same price or cheaper
both are overkill for 1080p 60fps gaming
killa all these thingns cost more than twice their original price where i live so telling my budget wont help a lot
1060 6gb, rx 580, or 1660 ti depending on prices there
ive had a bad experience with every single ati gpu ive had so far so id rather go for an nvidia tbh
at least this time
ive never had an updated nvidia gpu
1060 6gb, or 1660 ti
ive never heard of 1660
oh nice
at around 280$
350 iirc
@fallen harbor Ryzen 5 2600 or i5-8400, both perform identical in all games, the 2600 just has more threads and overclocking
wouldnt that make the 1660 ti a lot better than 1060 ti tho?
doesnt the 2600 only perf the same IF you oc?
2600 is $160 USD, 8400 is $180
almost certain at stock 8400 had a lead
2600 boosts to 4 GHz by default
which is better then for long term
stock cooler does great
do amd cpus keep burning
iguess it wouldnt hurt to put a hyper 212
the stock cooler on Ryzen is really good
all of the benchmarks i just looked at had the 8400 at stock being faster, but the 2600 matching or being better once you OC
@fallen harbor for long term id say the 2600 might be better since it comes with more cores and OC
yeah the 8400 sounds just more comfy tbh
imo, basically if you put time into the 2600 youll get more out of it
isnt oc a little bit unsafe?
no
if you dont do research and know what to do then yea
yeah cause ive never ocd before
2600 will last longer than the 8400 for future gaming, it has double the amount of threads
its simple once you have researched
because intel has always charged high prices
lots of factors
because its kinda like apple and samsung, apple charge loads more for basically the same phone
performance isnt the only variable
people trust intel for being consistent
amd has dropped the ball before
and amd wasnt competitive for the longest time
imo, i would go 2600 personally
but i would put in the time and research to get more out of it
does oc’ing need a more intensive cooling system
not more than a hyper 212
not necessarily
I got my 1600 to 3.8 GHz with the stock cooler, max temp in 68C in stress test
hell, you can get decent OC off stock wraith cooler
but you probs should get at least an after market air
hyper 212 is consistently top bang for buck cooler
does oc’ing threaten the lifespan of the piece
max overclock yes
not if youre thermals and voltage are in check
if you try to get 4.3 GHz it might shorten it's life
i mean i have a locked cpu so the stock cooler works great for me, never seen my cpu over 60
yeah i think i prefer the 8400 guise
i know i am sounding super lame rn but i dont feel like depending on oc’ing in order to make it more worth it
well the Ryzen 5 2600 already boosts to 4 GHz by default you don't need to overclock
so the 2600 is cheaper, and with mb is even cheaper more, and youll be within 5-10 fps of the 8400 at stock
even without oc, will it last more than the 8400 still?
well that sounds more convincing then
and if youre playing on a 60hz monitor.. both of those cpus are easily gonna get 60 fps with a 1060 6gb
BFV will keep your 8400 nearly maxed out between 80% and 100% at all time
i personally dont see another cpu jump like we just recently did for a while, even then, theres not a lot of games outside of bfv, tomb raider, and forze games that are even utilizing 6cores atm
what mobo should i get for the r2600?
for what it is bf v is surprisingly easy going on the gpus
any B450, I wouldn't go for a Gigabyte one though
@latent light the 2600 with wraith stealth does not boost to 4 ghz, pure stock also limits it to 3.9ghz
gigabyte low end boards are horrendous
wraith stealth = intel cpu cooler quality
wraith stealth is 20% more cooler than intel stock cooler
have you done research by any chance
msi tomahawk is always recommended for bang for buck ryzen board
me? yes but everyone says different things tbh
grims talking to salty in that response
i have a 2600 that i used with wraith stealth for 3 weeks until my AIO came in
and i had a x470-f motherboard with that 2600
ATX is regular sized
basically, youre gonna have to do research on MB for your region
ok so r2600, b450, 16 gb ram
prices and availability and all
find a list of decently reviewed boards b450/x470, make a list and pick based on price/features
ASRock B450 Pro4, is probably your best bet
i tried part picking for someone out of my region, and it was a pain in the ass
they didnt have what i did, things that were nice but expensive for me, were super cheap for him
yeah i know
what country are you in ando
spent hours with that guy just on MB
argentina
check prices
i do, they are around 2.5 higher than their original prices /shrug
x2.5*
like, the 2060 costs around 680 here
and you dont want to know what the min wage is
buying this for me is the equivalent for you buying a car
or worse
damn so when argentina imports products, they jack up the prices?
i guess so yeah thats how the world works
third world*
and i cant ship
all of this is besides thw topic
2060 can be found for $350 USD in the US
dw
thats how south america works
brazil has an industry of people flying to 'muricah, loading up on expensive goods, flying back
and selling it
¯_(ツ)_/¯
lets not deviate
budget talk wont help unless yall are from my same country
idk just check the prices of the i5-8400 and Ryzen 5 2600 in your country
just a random question that has nothing to do with the current topic...... does anyone know python the code here?
that's a large margin
yeah its larger than i remembered
so the ryzen isnt only better but considerably cheaper
not better
Mb goota go with asus>>
similar
i have no idea granty sorry
better cause 12 cores vs 6 i pressume? in the long term
not necessarily better in current performance
as long as it lasts longer, thats just better
2700x>>
ok thats what i mean by better
6 cores/12 threads vs 6 cores/6 threads
yea got it
btw is it really worth it having one ssd with the OS in and additional hdds?
yes
i was planning to install windows on a ssd, games on a hdd and everything else in another hdd
the bigger question was r5-2600 vs 8600k, where 8600k arguably performs better in most online fps's and singlethread games and 2600 has longevity, more threads, and in many cases better price/peformance
Yes having a SSD as the operating system drive is very useful
having hdds are great for storing things like music pictures documents and movies etc, where as having a ssd is great for any application really, so its worth having both if you can
should i divide the rest into two hdds or should i just buy one big hdd
1 HDD is easier to manage
it dont make a difference as long as they are the same read/ write but what grim said is true
what are the common sizes beyond 2 tb?
you could say that if you have 2 hdds and one becomes corrupted you only lose half the files, but the chances of that happening are very slim
6 sounds tempting but probably overkill and expensive
WD black has 2,4,6
do you really need over 2 TB?
i have 1.25tb and im doing fine...
maybe just get a 2tb and if you really need more you could just get another 500gb
One big upside with several drives: Backup incase of failure
you could get a 250GB SSD as the OS drive and a 2 TB as the games drive, hell you could put a few games on the SSD too
ive been using 1tb and always feel very limited
felt*
i already got a 240gb ssd
guess im getting a 4tb hdd
you got a 240GB ssd as the OS drive?
i would just get another 1tb and use what you already have..
i havent set it yet grim but yes thats the plan
oh it's new?
I just hope it's not a WD Blue SSD lol
what gpu are you planning on getting for your new pc, just out of interest ?
WD Blue SSDs are not that much faster than a mechanical HDD
btw thank you guys you helped me a lot i love ta
ya*
ill keep using my r9 380 till i feel i must buy a new one or it dies
iguess
the 1660ti they mentioend here sounds good
reviewers say that it performs like all other SATA SSDs
im getting it in just over a month : )
which is ~500mb/s read
i cant wait to get the 1660ti
yea i dont recall any bad speeds for wd blue ssd's
yeah the 1660 Ti will get at least 60-80% higher performance than a 380
i can tell you something, my 1060 3gb wont be missed
now the m.2 wd ssds are the same speeds as sata ssds, but DID cost more
what's wrong with your 1060
^
im not sure the 1660ti has come to my country yet, how new is it exactly?
came out last month
about a month
yeah defo not here yet
tbh, RX 570 is even better than a 1060 3gb
ye the 6gb version isnt that bad imo, but the 3gb is just a scam
should of been 4GB not 3GB
this was my first pc and i didnt really know what i was looking for, i just saw the 1060 and thought it was good
same as my cpu, i could have got such a better one than the i5 7400 for basically the same price
yeah the i5-7400 is such a terrible option
tfw when you always play on low and games usually use around 2gb vram
now that that Ryzen 5 and the i5-8400 exists
again, i honestly thought all i5s where the same, i wasnt looking at the number after
i guess we learn from our mistakes
lol
and this was a big mistake
i did the same when I bought a laptop and tbh in laptops the benefit is only in terms of battery life
i was the same when i got my i7 3770 but tbh i wasnt disappointed, i got it back in 2013 and it still performs very decently for me
my friend wanted to do a build with a 7700 for 320 bucks yesterday.. im like dude... dont
3770 is still great
I think you could even run a 1080 Ti on a 3770 and not bottleneck, well it would on BFV
probably at 1440p
my school computers have the i7 4760 i think thats the right one, i have a bad memory and it performs amazing at cad which is what i use it for, and its not too expensive
maybe BF1 it would too
4770
holy shit my internet is garbage right now, stay the fuck away from CenturyLink
could be a 4790
its discord i think, if you mean the message sent really late i mean
because it did the same for me just then
nah my internet went off for 10 seconds
oh right ok
got the yellow caution sign right next to my internet connection
@latent light you’re so right about centurylink. Got disconnected from a game of apex top 2 because of it
Because of my internet cutting out
im kinda glad we dont have the over here XD
and to upgrade internet package, it would be $120 a month for 10 mbps
i pay 70 bucks for 100mbps
Yeah idk what we get but my download speed is ass
Unlocked I7s all the way from sandy are still good
i have a crap upload but good download
though i am sceptical of 3xxx gen since it was the first unsoldered gen
SuddenLink >>>> CenturyLink
it also helps that my router is on my desk and i have a really good lan cable tho
because my laptop doesnt get near that sort of speed
@latent light are those advertised prices?
i also made my router rgb
I need a Ethernet cable for my ps4
first 2 years of the contract it was $30 a month then after it was $60
and to upgrade the package it would jump to $120
Bruh I shouldn’t even be downloading MWR. I won’t even play it much.. but it’s taking fucking forever and a half to download
i put a lil light inside the case and because of tiny ventilation holes it shines through in spectacular fashion
It was free is the only reason I’m download it. Just to be clear lol
i dont know why it matters about the reason you are downloading it XD
Lol it’s battlefield server here. Just thought I should say
doesnt mean that you have to hate every other game and you are heretic if you play something else
another thing, i didnt know it was possible for a pixel on your screen to get resurrected from the dead, the other day i noticed a dead pixel, i just checked and it has seemingly fixed its self
i was so glad that this monitor was finally starting to die, because i would have an excuse to get a new monitor XD
me wants 1440p
I know some people kind of massage the area where the dead pixel is to fix it
do you guys know any site where i can compare different gpus and it tells me which is better in what regards and what not?
userbenchmark isn't 100% accurate but it works
the pricing is a little jacked on it i can say that
the game benchmarks on the bottom of the page are inaccurate though
what would you say is the better option tho... the 2060 or the 1660 ti ....
ik im bias but i would say the 1660 ti
1660 Ti is basically a 1070 in performance but with less VRAM
although GDDR6 does make up for some of that lost VRAM
im right in saying that its cheaper than the 1070 tho right ?
is that really worth a bit of vram tho, like i really dont know how they have made the 1660 ti so cheap
i thought the 1660 ti was closer to 1070ti
tbh the only thing innovative is the name XD
2060 is equal to 1070 Ti
i find their reasoning for the name so funny
1660 Ti is equal to 1070
i honestly think that anything over a 2070 for gaming is basically just flexing your money, because like im sorry but you cant tell the difference between 200 fps and 400, like no matter how picky you are with the frame rate, you would not be able to tell the difference
i cant tell the difference between 60 and 100
1070<1660ti<1070ti in perf
im pretty sure in rare cases the 1660ti will out perform the 1070 ti by just a hair, its in very few games tho
sure, but the price difference still means theres no reason to get 1070ti
^
2060 far better option than 1070 ti
talking 5fps average less than 1070ti
well you have ray tracing for a start
RTX isn't good
i kinda like the rtx in bf, but ik it sacrifices a lot of frames
idk why people say ray tracing and DLSS is a feature, ray tracing cripples performance and isn't even true ray tracing in the first place and DLSS is blurry as hell
1660ti vs 2060 seems to be a 10 to sometimes 20 fps dif
@latent light literally this
🤷
@storm osprey some of the benches I've seen can be up to like a 40 fps difference
turn down resolution scale to 80% looks better than DLSS
possibly, im just looking at a couple of videos atm
was looking at comparison videos yesterday
1660 ti is 1070 level but gets like 15+ degrees hotter
I forgot what the 1%'s were
oh wow,
but it wasn't anything to scoff at
Mmm
That graph is interesting
Doesn't include BFV which is where I saw it
wow what an upgrade, we're finally getting xx70 series performance 3 years later on a xx60 ti series graphics card for a whole 50$ less!
imo 1660ti replaces everything till 2070
I'd share that opinion
given you can get msrp prices
its the price that gives it that factor i think tho
of course
its like saying i can get within 20 fps of a 1660ti but for 100 bucks
id get that
Ti is averaged around 280 while the 1070 is still 450 ish
so gross
lowest I've seen from a new 1070 recently was about 380
Asus gtx 1070 on Newegg for $330
i dont see that
also one on B&H photo for $325
when i do get my 1660 ti, should i just get the stock one or get one of the 3rd party versions ?
because how i see it is im paying a load extra for an oc that i could probs do my self and some better cooling that i dont even think would matter for me
literally the cheapest 1070 in stock i can find thats new
hmm that zotac not coming up in pcpartpicker
ye
it's on amazon though
Amazon.com: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Mini 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready Super Compact Gaming Graphics Card (ZT-P10700G-10M): Computers & Accessories
the one that nyphon sent looks horrendous XD
those are used though through amazon
ik looks doesnt change the performance but come on XD
yea, so still, 1660 ti replaces anything new until 2070 imo
pretty much, its kinda funny how they have released a product that was meant to be midrange and they have killed a large portion of their market XD
still waiting on amd to drop navi..
So
I told a few people about this already
but a new vulnerability came up for intel's processors
it's called Spoiler
smh intel smh
In yesterday's comparison ( people informed me of a CorePrio Fix (https://bitsum.com/portfolio/coreprio/) we tested the i9-9980XE and compared it to the the ...
Windows 10 uses a scheduler that is two generations older than Linux

i guess im buying my parts today
600w psu, b450 atx, r5 2600, 16gb ram
after i leave work
which is in like half an hour
oh and a 4tb disk
Hi Ando
hi.. whoever you are
i will use a small ssd and a 4tb hdd
i use a lot of space
dont question me you mortal
I was just asking
ando getting spicy up in here XD
why should i pay an extra 100 for 36 mghz on core and 100 mghz on clock
but what is the difference ?
RGB
yes the fans
maybe one OC better, is quieter, and better quality?
but i agree, i dont see where they get 100 more
just saying, its not as simple as the numbers at face value
i prsonally dont see myself getting a zotac gpu at all any time soon
true, i mean the only obvious thing is the one extra fan which in turn can make it much quieter because you dont have to have them spinning as fast
even though i hear they are good
id rather get evga, msi, or asus
in that order
(i think asus gpus, and other products, tend to be over priced)
there was a 1660 ti which has the dual fan and same clocks as the zotac one and was the same price just had different visuals and was from a different company, but i cant find the hecking thing now XD
found it
for some reason i had to go to google and search 1660 ti because the website search bar didnt find it for some reason
im pretty certain this is the model im going to get, does anyone know an obvious reason that i shouldnt get this, one that im not seeing ?
on pc part picker america it has lower reviews than other stuff you can get at around the same price
you meant that model or just the 1660 ti in general ?
id look at that one vs the msi armor edition
i was just looking at that heh
gigabyte imo is the best "2nd rate" gpus
id consider evga, msi, and asus first rate
but i man have to check if that even fits in my case XD
zotac is doing much better now than they did before Pascal
MSI and EVGA are my favorite for Nvidia
MSI and Sapphire for AMD
i would go with the evga option but the only one i can find is single fan, and i would really like to have double
cuz i have a single fan and i have to have it at 2500 rpm to keep it at 80 degrees, and you can imagine how loud that is
i would go with msi armor for my region and prices
ye i think that too is what i am going to get
the couple of msi cards i had were probably better than my evga cards
they at least didnt have coil whine like my evga cards have
well msi it is i guess
MSI Armor has the weakest cooler out of all MSI cards (except single fans)
oof
well it might be different on RTX
but on Pascal, MSI armor cooler was underwhelming
it was good on the 1060
but on the 1070 and 1080 it got pretty hot
my only other option is to go with gigabyte, asus is wayy too expensive, msi armour seems to perform better but even still has bad cooling, the evga is only single fan.. and i have been told that zotac is a bad choice.
i mean maybe the evga single fan would cool just as well as a dual

ye
custom GPU cooler gang 😎
the Arctic Accelero Xtreme products are worthwhile af
if you're not too squeamish to dismantle your video card
10/10 would recommend
that isnt for me then
your temps are almost as good as attaching a liquid cooler to them
since you can strap on like 2x 120mm fans to a huge heatsink
i mean i dont care about the back plate or the rgb if im being honest, like my case doesnt have clear view inside so meh
well, i would read more into the 2 and see if what the lesser reviews are for
yeah you can't use dx12
i know
the method i used doesnt work perfectly but it still gives better fps
than 1 card
what cards are you using to sli?
msi rtx 2080 gaming x trio
in other games it works perfectly and 80 to 100% scaling but bfv is another story
guys quick question
im at a store
they have the b450 pro m-2
but its mini
the regular size atx seems to be hard to find
here i mean
should i go for it or keep searching? is the mini worse?
i dont plan on overclocking
its not worst it just doesnt have all the features
Micro ATX or mATX for short, is more common it seems and cheaper
what features would i be missing?
i dont think id care about those features but im just curious
cause i dont wanna commit a mistake
bigger diffrence would be something like inputs and sli
than u should be fine and nothing important it depends on the motherboard itself but all of the necessary inputs are there
mATX is cheaper because its smaller
mini-itx/mini-atx theyre more practical enyways theyre cheaper and fit more cases
thats true tho i do like atx more myself but mini is still more practical
unless ur building a 3000 pc xD
@fallen harbor youll mostly miss out on ram slots and pcie slots, so if you wanted to add a sound card or something down the line you mostly cant
You won't miss out on RAM slots or PCIe
sound cards are worthless nowadays and 32GB of RAM is generally overkill for gaming
2 vs 4 ram slots, 2 pcie slots that 1 will get covered with if you use a gpu
and sound cards are not worthless
im saying that those things will be missing, literally missing, doesnt mean he will need/want them
i use a sound card, so i need a mid tower
jemand da der deutsch spricht?
ok i got some trouble with the new update
after i have install it battlefield v doessnt want start
we are not official tech support or anything like that, so its unlikely we can really help
wed mostly say verify files
restart comp
redownload
jeah but a lot of people got this problem
and we got redownload reinstall and repair und all this doesnt work
@violet plank jah but i going back to the old this idea i got too
the problem is sice the new bf update
first time i read this
are you in that thread ?
ehm jeah i think my name is hindenburg1911
and this i my thread
by my thread you see the picture of blackscreen loading the bf exe
hmm,strange
jep and bevor the last update i can play without problems
also when i start bfv its will start the exe windows going up its loading a time of 5-10 seconds after that it close quickly
exe broke up to work
ok but thx
maybe try a clean reinstall of the nvidia drivers
reinstall everything
this ddu option or how it is called
he did everything else
and don't overclock gfx card
finally decided to buy the pc parts
get off the store
FUCKING APOCALYPTIC STORM GOING ON
no car too
@storm osprey i have allready do origin complete new install and bfv new i delete afterburner ander evga stuff
try the clean install of nvidia drivers
because in forum people think its problem with afterburner or so
hmm i have install fresh the nvdiia but i cant retry
can
never had any problems with afterburner
but if you overclock it can cause problems with bfv
no i didtnt overclock , i just using it for read the stuff like temp or so
the option where you really do a clean reinstall ?
if you do custom installation
on the drivers
jeah i retry to clean the nvidia drivers in 5 min
maybe this will fix the problem but i think not^^ because bevor update coming for battlefield i have update nvidia and it work finde von apex b and bfv
nah,i doubt it too
an d after bfv update and origin update its doesnt open any bf exe correctly
bf1 same problem
only apex is working
is apex running frostbite engine too ?
jea apex using frostbite 2.0
weird
so maybe the problem is caused by the frostbite engine
so it must be a driver problem
Only DICE uses the Frostbite engine
gfx driver problem
Its a respawn error
You need to go back a few drivers until they fix it
Since its not NVidia's fault
hmm how i cant change frostbite enginge update :D?
if the clean install dosen't help
no
try the clean install option,if it dosen't work, use older drivers
try older drivers
ok from nvidia?
yep
anyone here think a laptop 580 is the same as a desktop 580?
no way imo
i have^^ 416.34-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql
cause of power cons
on os
the latest nvidia drivers are 419.35
@prime jasper I said building a PC was cheaper than Buying one?
thats the old
...
jeah
@storm osprey It's not a 580.
It's a WX7100.
It runs at the same clocks as a desktop 580.
It's basically a 580, shoved into a laptop.
but its not
Yes, it is.
Same GPU core, same number of CUs.
Same memory, same clocks.
It is literally the same thing as a desktop RX 580.
and i can guarantee you i can build a desktop for the same price that will perf better than a laptop
i hope ea will fix it quick^^ thats no funny with this bugs^^
Okay, go ahead.
$500, quad-core Haswell or better with hyperthreading
a display
and an RX 580.
That's what this laptop offers.
If you can do that for $500, new or used
where is this laptop?
I'd shit my pants.
link?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/273660865691 + a Dell M6800, used.
Or M6700.
They go for $200~ on ebay as barebones.
aka. display, board, CPU.
(and the chassis ofc)
but thats not 500...
... yes it is?
Item location:
Hong Kong, Hong Kong
xD
@prime jasper yes, all your parts come from China.
Every single one of them.
@storm osprey GPU is $300. Laptop is $200.
300 + 200
lets see
``AMD Radeon Pro WX7100 8GB DDR5 MXM 3.0 Type B For Dell Precision 7710 7720 7730
Popular Item 1 watched in last 24 hours
Condition:Used
Price:US $329.99
$30 for 12 months *
that says 330 right there
plus 200
EXACT same thing.
It is $500.
math is hard
I'm not saying "oh, it's $532.196"
Math: 0
I rounded down, dumbass.
you can say its 530....
Needs a minimum of a quad-core, 8 thread Haswell or better CPU.
we got 530
Haswell is bad
hell i saw an rx 580 for 200 bucks that came with 2 free new games
choice of dmc, division 2, and some other game
also
Sorry but you are asking a lot of $500
just in case you don't believe me, https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-Pro-WX-7100-GPU.215342.0.html
So try again
Those are the clocks of a laptop WX7100
@steep gust ... uh
I have that available in a $530 laptop already
that I just linked.
Good monitors are like $150
Yep.
wait this is a workstation gpu
and you think its gonna perf same as a rx 580 desktop for gaming?
... yes.
Like Haswell CPU
build me a $500 PC
"But include a top 1080p monitor with it"
Are you a Best Buy mom or something?
doesnt mean its the same
do you understand how GPU boosting works?

he doesnt get thermals either
jesus.
I mean GPU clocks mean nothing on paper
I have built 20 of these for clients.
They don't throttle.
The GPU runs at 73-75C max loads.
The CPU is similar.
That is throttling
and you rip the off if you say it performs the same as good as a desktop
GPU scaling throttles at like
55C?
@noble steeple has a fucking 1070 in his laptop
It differs from each GPU

its not
@steep gust I have an RX 580 here.
It is
But the laptop costed over 1500 bucks
Also good luck getting a laptop to cool a 250w GPU
And my desktop build still performs better
sorry, sorry, I was wrong
the laptop WX7100 runs 50MHz lower.
so it's 4% slower!
wow such big difference.
also, @storm osprey
except there more to it than just the numbers
Okay you don't understand how GPU clocks work
^
... I do, yes.
I have it running right next to me, rendering.
It's sitting at 1200MHz on the core.
... no, not really.
Yes, yes really
that... isn't... how GPU boosting works at all.
Its more noticeable on Pascal / Turing GPUs
but even Radeon cards have thermal scaling
It can't
uhhh
Without sounding loud as shit
that isn't comparing what I'm doing, @storm osprey
@steep gust It sure can, I have 20+ of them.
@storm osprey You are comparing ENTIRELY different GPUs.
I am using a WX7100.
@steep gust are you enjoying yourself yet?
It does not throttle as hard as an RX 580 in the same scenarios.
My laptop is equally thick and gets quite loud when i play games
It gets awfully hot
@noble steeple This laptop does not. Here, I'll go get some fan noise.
It is a VERY well designed machine meant for businesses.
I mean I'm not doing anything
The fans are massive.
Fun fact business laptops don't have dedicated GPUs
My fans are quiet too when doing business stuff with it
what the fuck are you saying again?
Business laptops typically have swappable graphics.
Hence why I said upgrade the GPU.
Tell me
It's also the same GPU core, same clocks, smae memory as an RX 580.
