MSI MEG Z390 ACE / i7-8700K / 16Gb Corsair DDR4-3200
Second board at that--first board was DOA
Same GPU, 1050Ti--probably pick up a 1080Ti in February/March, have some other $ priorities first.
Indeed.
I've a MSI Z370 gaming pro carbon love this board so much
It's a massive upgrade from the ASUS P5K-E / Q9650 / 8Gb DDR2
Yeah, I mean, I had that board OC'd as far as I could take it to 4.5Ghz without a major cooling upgrade and some $150 a stick DDR2 memory
I think the max someone has gotten out of it is 4.8Ghz on that chip, liquid cooled
Ohh nice
But yeah, couldn't have run through the issues in a timely manner without the help of our staff here. Big support paid off.
32GB of RAM is a little overkill for gaming
Yeah
The DOA was so depressing yesterday, haha.
32GB RGB ram> 400 euro
It's not overkill for a game like Cities Skylines when using custom assets. The more memory, the better.
200? Lol
My 16gb of ram was $200
It's around 150/200 here in the Netherlands last time I checked it and the Gskill trident z was 50 more expensiver.. So I basically bought that because RBG looks pretty cool.
I don't need the RGB gimmick, the RGB fans and board are enough for me.
My fans aren't RGB and are the ones which came with the case.
I've setup my ram that it's just static and no flashing etc
RGB fans are costly
Only thing i've been thinking about is spray painting my corsair air 540
and have the laser at work do something cool with the plexiglass
What kind of work do you do?
Now I've gotta figure out what's up with this AORUS software for this Gigabyte 1050Ti
Card no longer registers on this new board, so I imagine there is an on-board control or something.
This software is such shit anyways though, so who knows...
I'm a manager at an e-commerce, who deals in smartphone cases, accessories and custom made phone cases.
Oh I see
I do it part time though, also working as an apprenticeship as an system administrator.
It's like split, 25h manager, 15/20h as an apprentice.
and both at the same company
went to create an account on Gigabyte customer service
have no idea what contact person means
I put my name there or what lol
yes
I already put my first and last name on the top of the registry but ok
guess gigabyte is retarded lol
@latent light It makes sense if say you're the owner of a product, but have an IT manager that handles the technical end.
yes
hell, the bios of the card could be the issue but idk if updating the bios will make it ineligible for a return
Good to know.
I hope my warranty didnt void because I lowered the voltage some at one point
I figured the warrenty will only void if you kill the card by increasing the voltage but you never know what excuse the manufacturer will come up with
You can't kill a Pascal / Turing GPU through voltage without hardmods
or a XOC bios
Also just like
don't tell them you tweaked the voltages
i dont really wanna do water
at all
@molten coral are you cooling with water
on cpu
in closed loop ?
It's a NCIX kraken something
@steep gust should I tell them that I increased core clock?
do you like it
Apart that I've the small version it's good.
@latent light If you want, although there is probably a factory overclock anyway
NZXT not NCIX
when i got this upgrade packet with cpu mobo ram and such i got a corsair hydrop h60
i never installed it
Although I should upgrade sometime to get better temps especially with a i7-8700k
120mm AIOs aren't very good
It didnt have a boost clock oddly
It didnt have a boost clock oddly
I did increase the core by 60 MHz once
Ran*
It always tan at 1340 base clock no matter what
I did increase the core by 60 MHz once
but its also wintertime right now
Eh it's doing the job fine, always stays around 40-45 with loads.
I could upgrade it to something better but honestly I could care less.
yeah
my case is closed no window notting . and all my hardware got RGB
hahaha
my case is from my first pc ๐
LOL
My H100i keeps my overclocked 8600k at like 50C while gaming with the fans at like 800rpm or whatever the lowest possible without shutting off is
I've upgraded my case like 5 times in 3 years.
I have a S340 Elite collecting dust
I really like that
looks so clean
my ram have RGB too ๐
can't see them ๐
but i really can't find a case wich fits me
i'm 1 of those oldish who want a dvddrive ๐
eww
and all the cool cases don't have bay for stuff like that
cool dude
@mortal nacelle I also have a DVD drive
wich case
i have been looking at the Fractal Design Define r6
I have the meshify C
which is almost the exact same
Its not a bad case
Could be literally 0.5" longer
I'm not a fan of PC cases which look like any other
So I could fit a 25mm rad + 25mm fans in the front with a 300m GPU
I need like 2mm why fractcal design
I bought the corsair 540 because I like how odd shaped it was
I move it to my living room when I wanna talk around 12 till 5 AM
I still live at home and everyone can hear me talk if I sit in my room
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Yeah we don't have a garage so nope.
Well i made my garage to my place so i can get away from my gf ๐
I don't mind it though it's like 2 min of work to set it up downstairs
I literally carry my PC, mouse, keyboard, mousepad etc in one go.
my garage is warm and such with cauch and heating and also still space for car
and tv ๐
just missing the ps4
I've a PS4 and bought a Nintendo switch last saturday
The switch is propably one of my best purchases from 2018
I've been playing smash and some other games so much since I got it
i need to figur out how i can get my gf to like swtich so we can buy one ๐
Buy zelda and mario party and she will be hooked
I will i will
but she is like you are spending much money on tech stuff
@molten coral dont get a gf
the steal you life
Had a GF for a long time though but we broke up sadly.
i'm sad to hear that
not sure my gf and me are going to break up i'm now stock with her for like 15 years now
soon 16
Nah, you will be fine then, it's like the rule if you have a friend for longer then 7 years he will be your friend forever.
she is my best friend
We are still friends after we broke up
So that is nice, it wasn't like ''Oh god I hate you so much etc etc blah blah blah''
she is my parten in crime if i wanna do stupid shit she is in
See more money without gf
ah not tech anymore ๐
I genuinely hate windows 10
I'm trying to rule out the problem of my graphics by manually installing graphics driver, but windows 10 comes to fuck it up by automatically downloading them
Even though I turned off auto download for hardware drivers in control panel
Windows 10 doing the complete opposite of what I tell it do like it always has done
Fuck Microsoft
Can't make a good gaming console and can't make a good OS
check logs
@latent light you aren't being very specific but if you unhook your gpu it will "rule it out". also when you install a driver over the preexisting one it will replace it. generally no need to uninstall
Try to change the power plane on Nvidia panel to maximum performance @sullen lichen
I'm away for the holidays so I wouldn't be able to help directly but if you can find a cause in the logs that can help
@sullen lichen documents/battlefield v
it may help narrow down the cause
cuz rn it could be anything from DX having trouble to power problems across the whole pc
Sometimes you don't receive a crash error but you can check the log for crash informations
just pm it to me for now
Bot clean @sullen lichen posts?

wow
Even after the open beta I still can't play BFV
My build is a
GPU: RX-470 4GB
CPU: FX-8350
RAM: 16GB DDR3
The farthest I have gotten to are the intro cutscenes and then I get a black screen and cut right to desktop
no error message or anything
although my graphics card does reset
Have any trouble running other games?
Wait, by gpu reset do you mean it turns off for a second and the monitor cycles through inputs looking for a display device? @olive hazel
Nope trouble is only from BFV
I can run BF1 without crashing
And by GPU reset, I mean the graphics (like icons or pictures) all need to be rendered again
@latent light
File repair check
Got farther
didnt do a repair check as I am currently still installing lol
I was able to finally shoot a gun
and it ran smoothly with minimal FPS drops on "max fidelity"
or ultra settings
the game is on fullscreen with DX12 on
it was off before and I crashed to desktop
but with it on, it seems to be doing better
I'll wait for it to finish installing and see what happens
Downloaded an app on the microsoft store that makes your taskbar translucent
its pretty cool
What app is it
I had my taskbar like that ages ago, until I setup a theme with wallpaper engine/rainmeter that looked better with it normal
TranslucentTB @latent light

RGB software has security vulnerabilities, TSMC is working on 3nm fabrication, and Charter got smacked by the State of New York with a $170 million settlemen...
3nm
So when tf is dice gonna fix the assignment/story progression? 1 of my camping items wonโt unlock even though Iโve done everything and now the progress on assault mastery keeps getting reset every time I die even though itโs get 7 kills with explosives IN A ROUND, not IN A LIFE, so goddamn frustrating
Campaign not camping
Like cmon, and this isnโt the first time either, I didnโt get the helmet in tides of war week 2 because of this bullshit, about to go for a fโing refund and get red dead redemption 2
Guys what should I OC my 8700k to?
4.8 GHz
the sweet spot
5 GHz runs hot
also depends on how good your chip is
some 8700K are unlucky and can't get to 4.7 stable
Iโm at 4.7 now and temps seem to get kinda hot
Iโm watercooled too
So Iโm guessing they run kinda hot normally? Especially when OCโed?
Yeah I havent gotten around to ocing my 9700k yet but it runs at 4.6 rn and gets pretty warm on water as well
The new chips seem to just run hotter
5+ GHz never seems to be worth the thermals
Damn
I think I found my error
my CPU temps get too high running BFV
im in the 73 Celsius range LMAO
Oof
Ryzen is 100C
Rip

next gen next month

not all products will be available on launch
just the high-end I think
Makes sense
Anyone good with wireless headphones here? I'm looking to upgrade from my old HyperX cloud I to wireless
Right now the Steel Series Arctic 7 2019 edition would cost 80โฌ cause they are on a pretty steep discount
But I'm not necessarily looking for "gaming" headphones since I have no need for a microphone in the headphones
hm i have never tried a wireless headphone for gaming
@limber salmon if you want to use them with shit like you're phone too make sure they're bluetooth. other than that it's up to you. I have the man o wars wireless but their a bit more expensive
I've already got dedicated bluetooth headphones for my phone
I'm looking to buy strictly for home pc use pretty much
@limber salmon i Got the steel series arctic the Mic is hidden
You Can drag it out
One friend is saying to just get the pro
Soo expensive
350โฌ for the pro
80โฌ for 7 2019 model
Is the difference really worth it xd
Well plenty off stuff I'm gonna do
Yeah I'm gonna test out the 7s tomorrow
Surround is good for games and positioning but you don't need it that good just accurate
you can also use HeSuVi for surround -> binaural conversion for regular stereo headphones (similar to e.g. dolby atmos and the like)
which works really well in my experience (though BFV has its own equivalent - the "3D Headphones" option - so it's not really needed there)
@north crow i feel like my HDD is gonna die
meanwhile SSD is performing like 25% above expectation ๐ค
also
i feel like my CPU is bottlenecking 1070
Its a xeon
yes
it's also like 4 years old
it was like really good of a CPU back in 2014 ๐
4790k/ xeon equals are garbage with even gtx 1060's and 580's on heavier games. bottleneck love.
if you play battlefield-it's a global game problem. not just cpu
ppl with 5820k-/5960x still faces that somehow
well bf is cpu heavy
i still manage to get like 100fps in bfv which is more than enough for me ๐
so it doesn't help
it's not that heavy tbh for cpu.
@strong breach yeah, I keep 70+ at 1440p
@strong breach you need know not the max fps but min fps
if you lower settings and basically charge off peanuts for perf increase-it sucks. means the game is unoptimised
honestly i should just upgrade my rig (except gpu)
your fine for a while
but like that costs money that i don't want to spend
you know that in 99% of the maps with i5 4590 at 75hz + freesync pairing with enchanced sync no fps cap i get 100+ fps on ultra at 1080p on rx 580 8gb?
it's pretty damn balanced
on BF1 i cant get a stable 40fps with lowest settings
oh yeah BF1 actually ran worse than BFV for me
BFV runs just as trashy as BF1 for me
so i removed the game though. only play overwatch now
it is ๐
been having a lot of fun with that game ๐
even if im definitely not the best at it
i pretty suck at it but if i try harder and have half decent team i can stable carry gold/silver
or if i try hard i may get plat. as a skilless widowmaker/ana xd
i can't even play ranked on that game yet
i played it between Black ops 4 and BFV launch
theyre so arrogant for their elo.
but it was pretty cool when ive met smurfing grandmaster couch on silver account
but hnnngh i really should focus on upgrading my HDD to 1tb SSD first
my rig for now, runs games well enough
helped me a bunch after match
๐
for OW i was happy with 960 but didnt expect id quit BF series and origin itself after buying 580 XD
oh yeah OW runs like a dream on like any PC
AMD cards are kinda miracble somehow XD
theyre well performing, pretty equal heat to nvidias and identical power consumption so it's a way to go xd.
AMD gpu's arent bad tbh
they just like nvidia has disgrace cards
but for price to performance and some higher ends-theyre still solid ๐
extremely solid*
oh yeah AMD is way better for bang/buck
in general
ofc there's some good bang/buck nvidia gpu's too
you mean old high ends
if you want a 1060 3gb get a 580 otherwise I'd stick to nvidia
coz older mid range/lower ends-budget ones are trash these days comparing to how amd cards are supported
1060 3gb costs 200eur in lithuania
rx 570 4gb sapphire 130-170eur depending on modek(not asus, msi branded ofc) XD
580 is similar price and better performance
i mean sapphire or powercolors xd
580 price here varies from 220 to 400euros brand new
1070 400eur new at least xd
i got a pretty good offer with my current gpu
asus strix'es 580 is 420 ~ euros
sapphire nitro+s 8gb goes for 280 to 340
and the games i sold for like 60โฌ ๐ combined
i'd not pay for 2fps more for 400+ eur and ~3C less in min/max temps on strix vs sapphirre
300euro golden sample red devil 580/590 is more reasonable than a strix/strix top edition of 580/1060 6/8gb XD that going for 400eur
i used to have a gtx 770
my gpu is literally the only part on my PC that i have upgraded
since buying the parts
yeh cpu's crucial
the more you spend or aim for a valid higher end base part-the more you get
this one has a LGA1150 socket
gpu's are give or take
they can last for 2years until uypgrade or until dies
or 5+ years,
cpu's usually never dies while mobos does. gpu's dies also quickly, and the high performance ram too.
@strong breach where can you find these stats?
userbenchmark
Workstation 58%
just because my HDD is being slow as heck
workstation % takes a huge hit
your cpu has alot of rivals. especially from amd side, intel's even worse
since the easiest way to compete is the same company of the same cpu but a different model xd
1st gen to 7th gen intel cpus i5/i7 mainstream sockets were 1-5% inc per gen, after 8th gen that changed-i5 8400 became i7, i7 became extreme perf level.
intel wins in gaming-amd 5-15fps less in gaming but harder on budget on streaming/multitasking.
even r5 2600 not including 2700 can compete with a locked 8700
I'll need to look at what options I got in the future
i was only planning to get a new SSD as for now
๐
alot of people saying i9 9900k is an owen
with even custom loop exceeds 80C after oc
maybe i should look more into ryzens
9900k is not worth it
2600 beats down i5 8th gen and compete with 8700-k in multi tasking
Iโm on a 9700k
loses to 8700-k in gaminhg but wins in tasking
I really like it alot
so going ryzen is give or take, less perf for gaming by 5-20fps depending on tittle(max fps margins).
but horse power for multi tasking.
Ryzen are ok if you are on a budge
if the intel cpu';s prices were like 360eur for unlocked 8-9th gen i7 i'd offer that
but since it is not. not worth a pick
320eu for 2700-2700x
or 500eur for 8700k for ~same multi tasking perf level after oc and bit more gaming engine power.
intel cpus needs a delid, while ryzens after hexa core has been delided with pre applied liquid metal performance thermals already. so thats another drawback for intel.
My 9700k dont run hot at all
@mortal nacelle one sec
https://postimg.cc/mhSKkBZN 9900k is a damn hot cpu. if even high end 360mm radiators cant keep up on loops
9700k may be a bit of an owen without decent cooler. i'd not risk it. the deliding is needed for stable 4.6-5.2ghz ocing with an aio ofc.
I run stable at 4.6
@mortal nacelle depends on how many hours you run pc every day
how long it;s beeing used
@prime jasper Its 9700k
also what cooling u got
Not 9900k
then what thermal paste and was it delided
??
and at what rpm does the fans runs, not including what type of fans u use.
You are talking about 9900k iam on 9700k
still. idk what u mean"its not hot at all".
not to argue but it comes down to voltages, temps, thermals(type of cooling and exacty model, thermal paste type).
then the case you use.
also ambient temperatures and the ventilation possibilities of the place your rig stays.
Anyone else having issues with the game constantly crashing at the loading screen?
I have re-installed, updated drivers, defrag, ran a system clean up and nothing seems to work.
9900k is just fine in usage with custom loops, my temps are like 60-62C with cpu intensive gaming and regular usage (80-95%) loads
I would not recommend getting 9900k for nhd14/15, they will thermal throttle
next gen Ryzen is coming out next month after CES
Been trying for the past 3 hours to play the game and nothing.
Yesterday I was playing for 5 hours straight no problem
Maybe RNG is given to some other player
Ryzen = better for multi-tasking like streaming, etc.
Intel beats Ryzen though for just gaming
No, you can not make such generalization, it is not exact math, it is about how many cores and what is max turbo per core.
Intel has higher clocks per core, even when all cores fully utilized, and even more higher clocks if not all cores are fully utilized. Amd just has more cores in their "cheaper" cpu line
Should I be using DX12 with my vega 64 on bfv?
Overlocked my 1800x to 4.1 (It seems to hate 4.2) - BFV crashes. Does BFV hate overlocking or is it something else?
I have not yet to seen next gen ryzen hit anything
Do you know if cooling performance is better on 2000 series?
Turbo is already overclock, so your 4.1ghz is just minor overclock over the turbo
I don't have turbo on, just a straight overclock
Yes but running stock, the turbo is activated when required
And that is overclock by nature
Yeah but it wasn't consistent - it wouldn't usually hit 4.1
1800x turbo is just 4.0ghz
Ok it wouldn't usually hit that then
Might have been my massively inadequate cooling system, I went straight to OC when I went liquid
Manual overclock just tells the cpu to run with specific clocks 24/7
Also the TDPs announced for cpus are based on the base clock, so ryzen 3850x 135w tdp 3.6ghz base and 5.1ghz turbo, will most likely drain like 250w+ and heat like a pig in oven on christmas
thats good
who cares about power drain anyway
just need more coal power plants :d
Power drain = heat
When im running prime95 with avx on my 9900k it also drains like 250w
Its best cpu there is at the moment
It is the best cpu at the moment
so you say don't even wanna start this with you
when the reviews say other thing
but v0v
The reviews are done gpu capped so they are irrelevant
idc about high fps at all, I care more about stable frametimes
60 fps with consistent 16.67ms frametimes > 120+ fps with frametimes spiking all over the place
which is why I have a Ryzen 5 1600, best $150 CPU money can ever buy
thats what i have i run a 2080ti 4k highsettings and i jump around from 85 fps to like 130 fps
i have a 144hz 4k mointor
it runs all games stable
yeah
i mean i just can't play 60fps anymore just cause ive had 144hz for so many years
144hz is where it is now
but playing with massive frame variance is horrendous
https://www.userbenchmark.com/ @red ingot
i kinda like 100hz as of now
it would be annoying to have a 144hz monitor and play games that cap to 60 lol
and yeah
killing floor 2 comes to mind
๐ฆ
love that game but hate the 60fps cap
๐ฆ

My ultrawide is only 75hz sadly.
75hz isn't bad
Really wanna get the 43 or 49'' samsung ultrawide someday.
Well I have 140+ fps in bvf with my 9900k, its good enough, would not touch 4k until they can get 144+fps all the time on gpu side
wow
75hz is actually noticeable over 60hz
But don't feel like spending 800/1000 Euro on a screen
thats a massive ultrawide
and same @sonic osprey
im not upgrading to 4k till 144fps stable is a thing
hey my sceen ischeap ๐
@molten coral I have the 49 samsung
no it is not
I've a 34'' ultrawide at the moment and it's not bad but I would love to get something bigger.
I'm getting Navi next year and a $150 freesync 144hz monitor
it was like $2500

Cheap i'm telling you @red ingot ๐
Has 144hz 4k monitor, buys 9700k
get a work ๐
@sonic osprey How good is it?
fuck the 9900k i dont need it . as it a s hit cpu
4K doesn't need a CPU more powerful than a i3-8350K lol
my 9700 beats it
higher resolution = less CPU usage
I know the pixel density isn't really that great for a 1080p screen so that is kinda what is keeping me back from buying the 49'' one.
@molten coral it is good when running fullscreen gaming and in normal multitasking, dual input is kinda bad because only 60hz
9700k is trash when doing real work
but i'm gaming only
i5-8600K/9600K/R5 2600 would be fine for 4K 100+ fps
no need for a trash 9900k for gaming
You are gaming only and not bothering to get over 144fps
no need for 9700 either
so apparently my hard drive can't be benchmarked..
Please dont talk about gaming only
Relative performance n/a - RAM cached drive detected
you can't get stable with 2080ti with the 9900k stop lieing for you self
@red ingot Is your hardrive full?
i9-9900K almost made the list on 2018's Most Disappointing CPU of the Year but the i9-9980XE took that title
2080ti can't get stable fps at 144hz

2080ti fullsettings are around 85fps
Its not about cpu to get 144fpa, you need dual 2080ti, but could do with just about any new cpu
help i overclocked my monitor to 81hz but i see like no difference
only ~50% full
i can buy dual 2080ti without buying a shitty 9900k
don't overclock monitor, it greatly reduces its life
why do i need a 9900k
Go for it then ๐
9900k is a Disappointing
@latent light didnt u oc your monitor?
only overclock a monitor that says it has overclocking support on the box
^^

@latent light still best cpu on 2018
yeah it doesnt lol, i just went into the radeon control panel and kept incrementing it until it crashed
worst value cpu of 2018*
Best cpu*
ha
i9-7980XE still beats it
Value = for poor people
@latent light you can't win
i9s are pretty bad value themselves
Also for a monitor that does support oc
threadripper is gonna be 32 cores wow
Is it worth bothering?
Loo
Or have enough money
Lol*
true ๐
Yeah tbh I go for performance > value cause I'm gonna end up spending that money anyways
why were people overhyping 8 cores back in the ryzen release, wasn't bulldozer already 8 cores
Yeah communism and everyone drives lada and plays games with ryzen 1700
I'll just lower my budget in other areas
๐ฎ
capitalism where people go into millions of dollars of debt because they get cancer or a terminal illness
Spending 3k on a monitor

Is a bit overkill
are you going for an ultrawide
Like I spend $900 on a monitor
Which was big, cause my old monitor was like $250
300% more I spent
Ryzen is going to come out with a CPU next month that will beat the 9900K and will cost $200 less

So in perspective I really did go "big"
My desktop gear has cost like 5k+ euros
if ipc improves by 30% (optimistic) it still won't beat out the 9900k?
Not even a months salary though
9900K IPC is only ~8% more than Ryzen
But like for example I didnt get a 9900k cause other than gaming all I use my pc for is just general office work/web surfing
oh wait the leaks were 13% not 30% lol
if the Ryzen 7 2700X could reach 5 GHz, it would only be like 5-8% less than the 9900K
Ryzen 7 3700X will be able to do 5 GHz boost clock
and will have 12 cores
I highly doubt the first released new ryzen reach 5k
chiplets allow for better overclocking im pretty sure
Sure the tech can reach but they wont release them from the get go
I guess we'll find out soon
Sure
intel 10nm will probably end up beating zen 2 out either way
@molten coral my hdd beats yours https://i.imgur.com/a77KB13.png
We have amd worker here leaking stats
intel 10nm might not even come out in 2019
Lol I got the same shit

Csnt bench
Yeah I gave up on waiting for intel 10nm

I was gonna wait but I said fuck it
Cause it's been delayed so long already
And will probably be delayed again
can't say 10nm Intel = 7nm TSMC, what matters more is transistor density
I ain't waiting forever lol
Intel will have the upper hand in the end anyways , they most likely have tech ready to be harnessed and released as soon as amd makes their move
Probably
@red ingot 2 years for you to put money aside

AMD will beat Intel by having better pricing
Yeah
amd will crash and burn
but intel will still end up having higher market share because consumers are sheep
Who cares intel will have better cpus
who cares about value ?
Everyone in #technology
People who dont have $$$
Lol
ps5 navi mmm, 1080 performance in a console
we don't like amd
amd is great
Cause I read your comment as sarcastic lol
Cause yeah really nowadays value doesnt mean as much
if it weren't for ryzen we'd still have incremental perf gains from intel
i really do not like amd ๐
same
Intel is seriously a corrupt business
just don't meen i like amd
If it wasnt for AMD we wouldn't have performance increases
who issen
I don't like Intel because they are shady
i'm corrupt too
Any business is corrupt
Intel would just never innovate
intel and nvidia are evil and anticonsumer, adoredtv uploaded extensive videos on all the sketchy shit they've done over the past 20 years
Oh yeah any big business is corrupt
playing on low settings
gotta cheat the system ๐
Cause fuck that shit
Amd is corrupt too, most likely got all their tech studying intel cpus
Its human nature
thats against the rules i think to changes ini @red ingot
so not doing that
And dont get banned
false, Intel gave AMD rights to use 86-bit architecture
Just making small modifications so the teacher does not notice amd copied intels homework
not sure the can see it @red ingot

and when AMD started to make their own CPUs in the 80s, they got ahead of Intel and Intel started crying about it
Yeah well intel has had some pretty anti competitive shit
Like the whole kickbacks thing
then Intel tried to take the agreement out of their hands
which AMD took to court and won
Making manufacturers use intel exclusively
Yeah
Anti competitive
Read a case study about it a while back
hey @red ingot you can only use
from now on
But yeah intel has done some shad shit
i'm intel
Okay
Good boy

they bribed oems to stop putting amd cpus in their pcs
Yeah
AMD invented 64-bit architecture and multi-core CPUs, Intel made 86-bit architecture
fucking vlc was lagging on integrated graphics haha
Well no
64bit was already used in supercomputers not meant for consumer use
In the 70s
sure sure
Amd may have copied the architecture from the RISC processors and made them available on the consumer market
Intel and AMD were companion companies throughout the 70s and early 80s
then Intel threw AMD under the bus and AMD reverse engineered their CPUs
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cray-1 1975 64bit processor
in the mid 80s, Intel tried to make illegal payments towards PC companies like HP, Dell, IBM to prevent them from selling AMD products
which worked for a bit until 1991
when they were caught breaking European law
and lost a lot of money
they were fined billions but they had nearly bankrupted amd in that time so it was a win for them
at that point their marketshare went from 50% to 90%
not billions lmao
around $200 million
Intel almost got banned from Japan for breaking international trade laws

ah right
you know there was a time where Nvidia thought Intel was going to make their motherboards to where they didn't support Nvidia GPUs lmao
for some reason Intel and Nvidia don't get along
both companies have spoofed benchmarks in the past
so i wouldn't mind if intel were sticking it to nvidia
left-wing websites hate Intel lol
like The Hill, Washington Post, The Guardian, ect.
leftist media hates pretty much everything
yeah
just a reason to stay relevant i guess
this is the 2009 lawsuit
that $1.45 billion should be paid to AMD, not the EU
Nvidia is pretty fucked too
they hold back game engines by keeping PhysX for themselves
NVIDIA is just same As Apple
Nvidia implemented Ray-Tracing the wrong way
they should have waited another generation when they could tell more game devs to optimize for it
it was truly a terrible time to release it
2 year generation gap only to see ~30% performance improvements for higher prices
WELL
whoops caps
i think its more of a they didn't want to wait to release another series
wanted to make some $$$
cause lots of people bought in anyways
they also wanted to get rid of Pascal stock
I view the RTX 2000 series as a prototype
2100 series will have much improved ray-tracing performance
manufacturing RT cores costs Nvidia like $100 on each 2080 Ti
manufacturing the card alone probably costs $400-500
maybe less idk
Source?
Because it's a massive die and the larger the die, the worse yields
You also have to remember Nvidia isnt making profit until its R&D is paid off
And making new architectures is expensive
What's the min watt requirement for a rxt 2080?
Like 450w?
It has a TDP of what 225w at stock?
So as long as your CPU / GPU isnt overclocked you are fine on 450w
With overclocking I'd step it up to a 550w or 650w (more towards 650w)
IMO it's always worth getting a great PSU that can last a decade
Yes
Considering 7700k and 1080ti only pull ~350w anything over 650w is a waste of money imo
We're still at ~400w then
Running your computer at stock
At least max your GPU power limit if you don't want to actually overclock
Still doesn't really justify getting a 750w like G3 when you could use that money for a 650 whisper m or rmx
Well
Remember that psus arent 100% efficient
I'd say at least 500-600w
Then u have room for oc
Just get a 1500w
Yeah I'm on an 850w I think
Buying a bigger psu =/= helpful
If anything buying a 1600w psu for a 400-500w system is terrible for the psu
Yeah probably
But
I feel like 600-800w is the sweet spot
500 is erring on the low side imo
Yeah stuff is getting more efficient
Yeah for sure
But like, may as well get like 800 or so
For an extra $50 maybe?
It's worth it imo
No

You've got more longevity with the more efficient ones too
I got a 7 year warranty on mine but you can get 10+ now I think?
And yeah my platinum is running strong
Ok regarding the crash to desktop, still getting the error :/
just happened 2 times within 10 mins, game is 100% unplayable, really fustrating when this is my main game at the moment
idk man, my 550w had problems with a GTX 770 with 230w tdp
I ordered a Gigabyte RX 580 8GB (exact model is GV-RX580GAMING-8GD) from Newegg in November and I've come across an issue. Games crashing even after trying different drivers. I've used DDU in Safe Mode to uninstall the old drivers to be sure there was no conflict but there seems to be nothing I can do to fix this problem. Games only seem to crash when they utilize more than 2GB of video memory, which is leading me to believe that the VRAM itself is faulty, or maybe the Power Delivery to the Memory is. This isn't a normal game crash either, it's like like the GPU itself turns off for a half second because my monitor cycles through different inputs for a few seconds when it crashes. I've ran Unigine Heaven Benchmark for several hours and it never crashes or gets hotter than 76C, I also ran FurMark for 30 minutes to stress it to ensure stability in the GPU core itself. No problems there. Where the trouble begins is when I play fairly demanding games (such as Witcher 3, PUBG, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, War Thunder, ect.) that can utilize a decent amount of Video Memory. If I turn graphics settings to low, the games no longer freeze/crash because they are only using 2GB of VRAM or less. For example, War Thunder starts to stutter very heavily then freezes for 5 seconds, GPU loses signal, monitor cycles through different display inputs, and the game automatically changes the graphics settings to low with an error message saying "insufficient amount of video memory". I'm very close to sending this card back to Gigabyte for another one.
^my forum question^
just RMA it
hate going through RMA
had to RMA my first GTX 770 a few years ago, took a month for a new one to arrive
Idk why people get these big ass PSUs
My 2700x and 1070ti runs on less than 350w
My 600w PSU has plenty of room to OC on as well
500-600w should be the maximum wattage people should use even if they have higher end pcs
unless they're doing sli or something
i checked on bequiet page with my systemspecs and bought a 450 watts
can someone good with a computer message me ?
Just need to verify specs for a part ๐
really anxious here lmfao
eh ill just ask here
So I received a RTX 2080 today, just want to make sure my comp is A ok for it
~I7 7700 4 Core
~16GB RAM
~550 Watts (which im buying 750W tomorrow because I want a new one anyways)
im sure it is but just want extra opinions
you're fine
Sweet, ty
at most you'd hit 450 w probably
the 750 watt are too much
ah
between 65 and 85 percent is the sweetspot
im just like might as well get it
this is m first graphics card upgrade so quite hyped
@prime jasper
@atomic atlas my emblem isnt swowing
@atomic atlas no matter what i do it isnt showing in game it is shown in the companion app when i press edit
@atomic atlas you know whats up....?
so with the money i got for xmas, i was looking to upgrade
but i told myself to wait
i have a 4790 right now, but i dont mind going to amd, especially if amd increased its icp with 7nm
4790 is still a beast trough
That was my cpu Before i upgrade to 9700k last month
yea, thats the other thing, even in bf with my ideal settings i dont drop below 100 fps
Id you not playing bfv in 4k dont upgrade
How much +fps?
hey could any one help me..?
possibly
i got prpblems with my emblem
it isn't showing in game nor in the priview in the companion app its only showing when i press edit
+10fps
im not on pc
For rgb fans
you should be
I recently bought a rtx2070
but since I am on 1080p my cpu bottlenecks in some gmaes
what cpu you got?
oh rip forget to write it
